Last Song: 'Huhhahhei' - Käärijä Yet more music I can't just fucking Buy here, they want me to stream everything, fuck that shit. I listen to it on YouTube hahaha. I'm happy to follow Käärijä's nonsense regardless. He's so fucking silly and this song is doing the same 'dark and silly' combo that his Cha Cha Cha onward songs have had.

I like Käärijä so much, but not in the aggressively sexual way that everyone else still excited about him after Eurovision seems to. I feel like I really love him in like a 'fellow struggling artist' way and in a character design way? Something about him just makes me smile and kind of pokes me in the heart and yells, "Tag! You're it!" I'm proud of him, and he makes me smile and laugh and I love what he makes. I hope for such good things for him, and that he takes care of himself!

Currently Watching: Old Robert Stack episodes of Unsolved Mysteries. This happens to me periodically. It was a favorite show to watch with my mom when I was a kid/teen, and so it has a weird combo of spooky and warmly nostalgic.

It is nice to see so many more updates than I used to, and interesting to see how my tastes have changed. As a kid, I hoped every single one would be ghosts or aliens, and as an adult, I groan and skip these kinds of stories. I am surprised by how Christian the show was. I didn't notice it when I was younger because I was comfortably indifferent about Christianity, I guess. Would tell people I believed in God if asked because it seemed as default to me. It was a few years until I realized how much of it didn't line up with me or itself. Now, firmly an atheist, the show's assumption of Christianity clangs badly for me

Current Obsession: A strange patchwork of things! Juuzou and Hanbee from Tokyo Ghoul, definitely. I'm so into everything about them, they just wove their way into everything, I am fascinated, enchanted, and, as my phone desperately wants to type instead, vaccinated. I can't help but notice how much I love pairs that involve one person demonstrating extreme devotion to the other one, where the other is strange, unique, viewed as weird by others. These are frequently kind of asexually shaped, too, so I can't help but think this dynamic is a certain strong personal connection or longing.

Also, drawing and the potential of doing video! Streaming traditional art or making an art video channel is so interesting to me. Markers, G Pen nibs, capturing something I can't explain in words.

I also recently watched an 80 part documentary about Chris-chan. I have a tendency to become interested in something in a very neutral way? As in, I just want to know all this information so that I know it, but not necessarily because I love the topic. I have a real interest in the adjacent topic of people who make very sincere comics or related things. It reminds me so much of when I was making tons of them as a kid. I have historically been interested a lot in the work of people who are just trying to do their little thing, and often used to look at Encyclopedia Dramatica like 15 years ago. I didn't like the language they used, the things they did to people, any of it, but the people they were targeting fascinated me in some familiar way. I don't know what it is. I have never wished them any more trouble, and often just sincerely looked at the work they made and Thought about it, but I don't know What the thinking was. Trying to learn to not be Target like them? Interested as someone who also could get absorbed in their own things super deeply? I don't know.

Regardless, what happened to Chris-chan is sad. She has been a completely horrible person, especially lately, like, I'm not defending any of this shit, but wow, it didn't have to be this bad. People did so much damage. This never should have been like this.

So yeah, a weird combo of things! But this is some real "get to know you" junk, isn't it?

May 8th, Day 3: Voice Actors AU/Five Senses

To be honest Kuroo was excited for any type of work that came his way.  He treated each job with the utmost respect and dedication.  He believed that was a huge part of the reason why he had gotten to the point in his career where he didn’t have to bus tables or stack canned foods to help pay his rent.  Not that there was anything wrong with those jobs, but his one first love in this world was voice acting which wasn’t the easiest thing to make a living off of.

Now Kuroo was voicing the Japanese translation of the newest Disney movie.  He was playing the companion of the main character and he had been almost completely beside himself when he realized that companion was a slinky black panther with a plethora of fantastic one liners.  He was set to buy any and all merch that came out, to watch the movie on repeat when it was finally finished.  He had already gone over the lines dozens of times by now, practicing inflection and diction until his roommate threatened to throat punch him if he didn’t shut up.

Kozume was supportive like that.

Kuroo smiled as he was introduced to Michimiya Yui, the petite and perky woman who was going to be voicing the princess in the animated movie.  Kuroo didn’t think there was another person in the world who was more qualified for the job.  Michimiya was in a long standing animated series with magical girls, she ran the convention circuit quite often and was always in some kind of interview or game show.  She was adorable but could be a complete beast when it came to competitions, slapping her cheeks and decimating her opponents.  Kuroo looked forward to working with her.

They went around the room introducing themselves and the characters they were playing.  There was Oikawa Tooru who was more an on-screen actor than voice actor and was surprising his numerous fans with playing the villain.  Ushijima Wakatoshi was playing the deep voiced and disapproving father of the young princess.  Shirofuku Yukie had the role of the less than impressed side kick to Oikawa’s character.  Kuroo had been tempted by that character but they had strictly wanted a female voice actor and while Kuroo could force his voice to all sorts of tricks there was no way he could pull off a believable falsetto in those high notes she had to hit in the villains main song.

Then there was Sawamura Daichi.  Unlike the others, even Oikawa, Kuroo had never worked with Sawamura before who was mostly a video game voice actor.  Kuroo had done his research on his co-workers and realized that Sawamura had voiced several favorite characters in games he played with Kozume late at night when neither could sleep.  Hearing him speak was like meeting an old friend, as if he was walking onboard the SSV Normandy heading towards their next mission.

Kuroo could understand why he was chosen as the princesses love interest and the main male lead.  Oikawa might be the prettiest thing in the room but Sawamura looked like he was one nice tux away from embodying the role of a prince.

The chemistry between Sawamura and Michimiya was obvious, there was an obvious trust there that had to be built up between years of friendship.  They flirted well and when they read the lines from the climax of the story, when the two main characters fight, it was believable and made Kuroo lean a bit closer in his chair as they passionately yelled across the room at each other.

When a break was called Kuroo didn’t waste time before sliding up next to Sawamura, gleefully noticing the height difference that allowed him to loom over the rather broad shouldered man.  Sawamura looked up when Kuroo’s shadow fell over him, brows furrowed before his features smoothed out and a warm smile lit up his face.  Kuroo was thrown off his game, momentarily left speechless.

“It’s nice to finally meet you,” Sawamura had a firm handshake.  His voice was low with just a hint of husky undertones that Kuroo always assumed was him putting on a character voice for video game characters that were supposed to be gruff.  “I guess I’m supposed to say I really like your work in Tokyo Ghoul or One Punch Man, which I do but I’m pretty fond of Nozaki-kun.”  It was horrendously charming and completely unfair.

“My roommate makes fun of me for how often I choose your character as a companion in Mass Effect.”  Kuroo admitted, exchanging a bit of honesty for a truth of his own.  He didn’t mention that the real reason Kozume mocked him was because of the amount of times Kuroo attempted to woo Sawamura’s character.  “I didn’t know you could sing.”  Sawamura rubbed the back of his neck, looking off and away.

“Please don’t expect anything too grand, I imagine they will have a lot to fix post-production.”  Sawamura said modestly, hand wrapped around his neck as he looked up at Kuroo in half exasperation.  Did the man even realize how adorable he was?  “I am more than thrilled to be here though if they are willing to look past my shortcomings.”  If Kuroo had known Sawamura a little longer he might have made a height joke but he stopped himself.  He had a feeling Sawamura had a healthy sense of humor but he didn’t want the other man to think he was a jerk.  Only his closest friends were allowed to know that Kuroo was kind of an asshole.

Kuroo had a strict no-dating rule for himself when it came to his co-workers.  He never wanted to be that guy who took the friendliness someone offered him and misconstrued it as an advance of some kind.  Yet Sawamura truly tested that rule and Kuroo’s self control, which he had always thought was rather good but wavered heavily in the face of Sawamura’s honest praise, childish competitiveness, and smoothing baritone voice.

Then came the singing and Kuroo knew there was no going back.

It was clear Sawamura was untrained but years of voice acting game him a strong control of his voice which he used to implement all the critique and advice the vocal coach gave him as they recorded his main song.  The soft rasp of his natural tone conveyed quite nicely to singing.  He’d most likely never have a good range but the sheer emotion he put into his every word allowed leeway for his less than technical voice.

“He’s good, isn’t he?”  Michimiya asked after she had sidled up next to him in the sound studio.  She had clasped her hands together and placed them under her chin, her expressive eyes studying Sawamura as he nodded along to whatever the vocal coach was telling him in the soundbooth.

“I think his instagram is going to become a lot more popular after this movie comes out.”  Sawamura’s voice was amazing to listen to but once people realized that the voice definitely matched the looks he was going to amass quite the following.  He already had a dedicated fanbase but Kuroo had admittedly done some online research.  The gym pictures could have easily made him look like a meathead but were quickly offset by the amount of loving pictures he had of his dogs and how much he clearly cared for his family and friends.  Kuroo had tried to find something that would smother this ridiculous crush he was harboring but had only managed to fan the flames.

“He’s kind of the perfect person to play the role of a prince, right?” Michimiya asked after Sawamura had sung through another verse, easily using the advice the coach had given him.

“He is kind of dreamy.”  Oikawa agreed and Kuroo let out a small hum of agreement without thinking as Sawamura looked through the glass to wave at them with a goofy smile that pulled a little higher on one side due to an old injury that had left a faint scar on his cheek.

Kuroo finally registered Michimiya and Oikawa’s words and his agreement as they snickered together.  He turned to them in dawning horror.

“Why?”  Kuroo couldn’t help but ask.  Was he back in high school?  Being teased once again about a crush on the guy who everyone liked while he hid in the AV club.  Admittedly Kai and him forged an easy friendship and Kuroo got over his crush soon after but still.

“It’s ludicrous to watch two grown ass men pining over each other, like we’re living in our own Korean drama.”  Oikawa said, adjusting his fashionable glasses that Kuroo was almost positive he wore just because he thought he looked good in them.  He did but that was beside the point.

“He’s not wrong.”  Michimiya said apologetically, at least feeling a bit bad about their teasing.

Kuroo could have brushed off Oikawa’s words, he was a terrible gossip and enjoyed stirring the pot.  But Kuroo had learned that Michimiya and Sawamura had been friends since they were teenagers, they had even dated briefly at one point before realizing they were better off as friends.  Michimiya could be just as mischievous as her old friend Sawamura but she would never be cruel.

If Michimiya said there was some mutual pining going on then she must have realized something on Sawamura’s side was equal to what Kuroo was feeling.

Kuroo turned back to Sawamura, who was waiting for the crew to adjust a couple things.  He looked up when he realized he had Kuroo’s attention and smiled once again.  Kuroo felt a silly smile blooming on his own face as he came to the realization that maybe his old rule could be broken.  Just this once.

We were living with my grandparents (Mom’s side) and there’s a lot of ducks and we were feeding them so I went to feed one by hand and that’s how I learned ducks have teeth. 2. We were living with my other grandparents (Dad’s side) and they had a frog garden thing that made noise, we were walking up the driveway, they didn’t tell us they got a new one and that it made noise. Me and my dad walked past it and it croaked at us, scared the fuck out of me and I ran away. There were potholes in the driveway and I tripped and cut my knee up so bad. 3. Um my friend lived on a dead end around my block and I would walk over to his place a lot (I was like 8 maybe older) and we road scooters a lot, he could do tricks and he wanted to teach me, I failed horrible cut up my knees and hands and face and scratched up my glasses so bad I couldn’t use them.

The Toonami Trending Rundown for March 17-18, 2018. We commemorate the 21st anniversary of the better cartoon show, as the block showcases the finale of Outlaw Star. Meanwhile among other great moments, Black Clover begins the Dungeon Exploration arc, while Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks prepare to head to the future to fight Black, and Rustal brings the pain to McGillis and Tekkadan forces.

On Twitter, Toonami would trend as with every show save for Naruto Shippuden and Ghost in the Shell, while Dragon Ball Super also trended worldwide. On Tumblr, Toonami would trend as with Dragon Ball Super, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Hunter x Hunter.

Unlike last year, Toonami didn’t bring much to commemorate their 21st anniversary (My guess is that they are focusing their efforts for the April Fools event coming in two weeks), instead showcasing an encore presentation of the Exquisite Corpse music video, created for their 20th anniversary by Titmouse.

Jason however, did mention that there is plenty of material coming down the pipe over the next few years, including “some new programming choices that push us outside our normal comfort zone in the next year”. What kind of new programming? Hard to say. While there have been complaints that the block has been too over-reliant in Shonen Jump works, something that I mentioned on what probably contributed to One Piece’s demise last year, going too off the anime/action path into Network Decay territory has never worked for ratings either, something that was learned the hard way when CN forced Toonami to air the likes of Hamtaro and Wulin Warriors.

While we’ll still see a potential hit Shonen show come every now and then, and it would be a big shocker if the likes of Attack on Titan, One Punch Man, Tokyo Ghoul, and Sword Art Online didn’t return to air their sequels eventually, fans have been asking for more Seinen and Shoujo shows, and there are some action comedies, horror, dramas, and sports anime who could probably fit in the mix. Of course it should be noted that Adult Swim has aired the likes of Death Note, Durarara, and Paranoia Agent back in the day, and Toonami has aired Miyazaki and Miyazaki-esque films whenever they can air movies. On the other hand, due to its difficulty of fitting in an action packed lineup, I wouldn’t really hold my breath for any slice of life anytime soon, if ever and not to mention things that need heavy censorship is a big no-no, so ecchi and other “otaku pandering” material will be as likely as Toonami airing subbed anime, when pigs fly and hell freezes over. Re:Zero has been seen as a potential favorite to join the lineup by fans lately with its dub presently in the works, and some fans have asked for the likes of Food Wars, Erased, Made in Abyss, Pop Team Epic, The Ancient Magus Bride, among many others, so we’ll see what happens there. As always keep “voting with your eyeballs” and supporting Toonami or at least the shows you do like and keep sending Toonami your show suggestions on their Facebook and Tumblr message boxes, as it is the collective viewership who decides what the future of Toonami ultimately is.

Notable news involving Toonami's various programming include:

Toonami released some big news regarding the FLCL sequels this week. In addition to releasing a new trailer, which you can see below, we can now confirm when FLCL will premiere its new seasons. Season 2, FLCL Progressive, will premiere on June 2nd at 11:30pm Eastern, while season 3, FLCL Alternative, will premiere sometime in September. In addition, Kari Wahlgren has also announced that she will indeed be reprising her role as Haruko.

Meanwhile in Dragon Ball Super news, Toei Animation has released a new trailer for the upcoming 20th Dragon Ball movie of the franchise, set to premiere in Japanese theaters on December 14, 2018. Of course, for those also watching the subbed version, the final episode of Super will be airing in Japan and on streaming sites this upcoming Saturday.

As Black Clover begins the Dungeon Exploration arc on Toonami, the next story arc following this will be the Royal Capital arc at Episode 20. Shonen Jump has released a visual for the next cour in the series that follows those events, which starts with the Blind Date arc, with the sub set to begin this arc in April, and Toonami getting there in roughly 2-3 months.

Following the Toonami run of Lupin the Third Part IV, Discotek Media is presently hard at work on working on the Blu-ray of this season of Lupin, which will be available to purchase on May 29th. Due to contractual regulations by TMS and RAI, this Blu-ray will only have the English Dub and the background music will only have the soundtrack heard in the Italian version. A separate subtitled-only release that includes the Japanese soundtrack, will follow later this year.

And in Sword Art Online news, it has been announced that the side-story Alternative Gun Gale Online is set to premiere on Japanese television on Saturday, April 7. In addition, it has also been announced that season 3 of SAO, Project Alicization, will be premiering in Japan sometime in October. A new visual was also released featuring Kirito, Alice, and Eugeo, as well as a new trailer which you can see below. No word yet on what Aniplex’s plans are regarding simulcasting and a potential dub as of now.

If you watched Toonami during the early 2000’s golden years, Outlaw Star needs no introduction to you. Originally premiering in Japan in 1998, it eventually was dubbed and made its way to Toonami in 2001 and alongside Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, became one of the big 3 western-inspired animes Toonami and Adult Swim introduced to us in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

Given its status as a Toonami classic, Episode 25 would be apart of the April Fools 2012 lineup on the Toonami revival. Despite fans hoping the series could be ran fully on the modern Toonami, due to Bandai Entertainment’s closure, it would not be until August 2017 when FUNimation assumed the distribution rights and started releasing the long awaited Blu-rays, that Outlaw Star would be able to make its return to Toonami for a long awaited, remastered, and mostly uncut encore run, including for the first time ever, airing the infamous Hot Springs Planet Tenrei episode.

The show did pretty solid regarding social media buzz during it’s 26 week run, as it would trend in the US in some capacity during all but 2 weeks of its run.

Now this is the part of the article where I would say what the future could hold for this franchise, but unfortunately as of now, there is no such future. A 13 episode sidestory, Angel Links, was produced, but didn’t exactly go so well, and there’s presently no legal way to check out the show to our knowledge besides old DVDs. There was hopes for a sequel back in the day, but for one reason or another, it never materialized and considering it’s been 20 years since the show’s end, the demand and will to produce a sequel has largely dried up. But as we’ve seen with FLCL and Samurai Jack among others, if Toonami has shown us anything, it’s that nothing is impossible, and especially considering that reboots, sequels, and adaptations of classic anime hits have been quite popular these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if Toonami or someone else considered some kind of revival one day.

Regardless, considering its Toonami legacy and how well it holds up to this day, Outlaw Star was quite a joy to watch, back in the old days and even today. All I can say on behalf of everyone, thanks for the memories.

As mentioned last week, with the new shows not ready to go just yet, and with April Fools incoming that will likely pre-empt the schedule for the special event in the next two weeks, Toonami will hold off on announcing and premiering said new shows for now. Instead, next week Toonami will be setting things up for these upcoming events, with Space Dandy moving up to 2am EDT, followed by a doubleheader of Cowboy Bebop to showcase its finale at 2:30am-3:30am. He just had a long shirt on to keep himself warm, and some boxers, it was a nice sight really, his curls were all over the place and he just looked cosy. "Huh?" "Is something the matter?" He asked, beginning to unfold his legs from under him and get up, but didn't before Phil spoke. "I'm fine, I just got no sleep last night. Rough one." He tightened his grip around his own mug, unfazed by the burning that was beginning to spread. "Didn't I tire you out?"

That's what made Phil want to shrink back, he had to tense to stop himself from cringing slightly. They'd had sex and Dan curled up by Phil and slept pretty much straight after. He, however, had stayed awake throughout the night, mindlessly playing with Dan's hair and thinking about everything. He couldn't switch off. He loved Dan, and he knew he should love Dan even when they got intimate, but he just couldn't. He felt nothing. He felt guilty.

"You did!" He said it with a little more haste than needed, "Honestly, you did. I'm just stressed, I need to make videos and there's meetings and everything else, I just couldn't turn my brain off." It wasn't a complete lie, he had enough to worry about, but the worst thing was Dan. "As long as there's nothing else you're hiding, I'm here for you. You don't have to shy away from me because I'm a mess." That hit hard, if Dan was getting down again then Phil couldn't face up to what was happening. "You aren't a mess Dan." "Come here." Dan opened his arms and beckoned Phil towards him, "Let's just have a lazy day, everything else can wait."

They watched anime throughout the entire day, binging on Tokyo Ghoul instead of starting a new one, it was just a sudden want to watch it. They'd got blankets and snacks to see them through the day.

Phil fell asleep after the 3rd episode, glasses falling down his nose slightly. Dan had his head on his chest, feeling the way he breathed and hearing his heartbeat. He loved Phil Lester, and it was a wild ride. He never thought he would fall in love as hard as he did; never thought he'd be loved so much. People left Dan when he cut them out and pushed them away, but Phil constantly persisted and pulled Dan back to keep him above water. They'd made their life together, and nothing could tear them apart. He thought Phil was just going through some stuff, that he'd sort it out and they'd be back to normal.

Phil woke up about 4 hours later and Dan was still awake. "Sleep well? You look a bit better than you did." He smiled up at Phil, watching him rub his eyes and push his glasses back up. "I feel it, I'm just worn out." Which was fair enough really, they were rather busy. "We can go to bed if you want? Just get some extra hours in before tomorrow." Dan was always up for extra sleep, if he could get it then he would because he adored it. "Sure..."

Phil wanted to stay up and think, but Dan wouldn't go to sleep unless he was sure Phil had dropped off. He was protective like this, if Phil wasn't looking after himself then Dan would put himself out just to do it. Just lately, he'd noticed that Phil was getting slightly more isolated and looked tired constantly. There was something going on, but Phil was the type of person to work through things on his own, but it never did seem as bad as it had been getting. Whenever Dan tried to ask he'd get excuses. "I can't sleep." Phil proclaimed, shuffling slightly so he could move with Dan lying on him. "I gathered, Phil, you can talk to me you know." Dan heard him sigh, a clear sign something was bothering him. "I know, I just, I can't. I want to go on a walk, is that okay?"

Dan knew the feeling.

"Want me to come?" He asked, feeling mildly unwell thinking about how many times he'd just upped and left Phil alone in their apartment with no clue of where he'd gone. "It's okay, it's cold, you should rest up and keep warm. Don't want you losing your voice again." He chuckled after, but it was coarse and felt wrong in the silence. "Make sure you wrap up and take your phone." "I will, just don't wait up for me." Dan groaned slightly as Phil moved from under him, body hitting on the mattress. "Don't stray too far." "I won't."

Phil reached down and picked up his jumper - the grey one with roses on the sleeves - and pulled it over his head. They'd just climbed into bed and threw their clothes on the floor, so it was the closest thing and by far the warmest. His jeans came next, and he could feel Dan's eyes on his back; he knew exactly what he was thinking.

"I'll be back later, just get some sleep." Phil smiled slightly, but it didn't reach his eyes, and leaned down to kiss Dan. It was gentle, sweet, but there was something in the mix that they both felt. "Okay..."

Phil really didn't understand the concept of walking to go through an issue, but in the sunset light he almost felt an ethereal calm and his head cleared of everything it needed to so he would work through his problem.

'I love Dan, but I hate sex. It doesn't do anything for me. He's beautiful, he knows he is sometimes, but I don't want to say I don't want sex with him or it'll make him bad again.. If I want to be happy with someone, they'll deserve sex. That's what relationships can go forward with, intimacy. All I can do is break up with him, start somewhere else and. Not. Get. With. Anyone'

He was sure his eyes were moving with the one-sided conversation flow. Dan did that too. Dan- He loved Dan, he truly did, and that's why he wanted him to be happy. Phil couldn't make him happy, he couldn't pretend like he wanted Dan to have sex with him, or that he wanted sex with anyone. He at least deserved basic couple stuff.

It was dark when he decided he should go home, he didn't know the time but he hoped Dan would be asleep. Although he wouldn't have intentionally slept without Phil being safe, there was an off-chance that he'd drifted off. But regardless, Phil had made up his mind; leaving Dan would be best. It broke his heart, he loved Dan more than he'd loved anyone, but he couldn't keep going through it and go with all the lies.

The lights were on when Phil crept in, it was the kitchen lights, so Dan either had got up and forgot to turn them off, or he was awake. Phil suspected the latter. Unsurprisingly, Dan was sitting at the table with a mug of hot chocolate between his hands, he was shivering slightly too. "You're back." He smiled slightly, but his eyes were glazed a little, "You need to tell me what's going on, Phil.". He did have to, but he didn't want to, he guessed it was best to get it over with then while Dan was expecting the blow.

"We need to break up." Phil's words came out too fast, and Dan's eyes shot wider. It wasn't what he expected, he didn't want it; he couldn't cope without Phil by his side. "What? Phil, no. We aren't breaking up." "This will never work. It can't, I'll just go." Phil was speaking too quick for it to be coherent, he quickly turned and walked away.

Dan wasn't having it, he threw himself out the chair and knocked his drink to the floor. "Philip Lester." His voice was low as he said it, making Phil stop in his tracks. "You aren't going anywhere... We can't just leave this all, we're so good together." Dan rubbed his finger on Phil's shoulder, trying to get some reaction. "It's over Dan."

Phil left. He just walked out. Dan collapsed in the kitchen, feeling his lungs fill to bursting. Nothing could really tell anyone how bad Dan felt, but he dry heaved and and coughed up tears. Phil just left and didn't look back, not even a glance, and Dan didn't even know what had happened to them. All he could do was cry, whispering "Phil..." over and over again before he gave up in exhaustion.

It took 2 days for Phil to come back through the door, Dan was sobbing in their room when he heard the key turn and he was up like a shot. "Who is it?" He called, voice raspy from the hours he'd spent in tears. "It's just me, I'll leave in a minute."

No. Not again.

Without missing a beat, Dan ran from their room and into the main room. "Phil, please, please listen to me." He was pleading, Phil was his other half and he didn't know how to function. He'd spent the time they'd been apart vomiting, crying, and remembering.

It wasn't like Dan had experienced with breakups before, he hadn't really been that bothered, but he felt his heart tearing with each waking moment. He hardly ate, moving from under a duvet just reminded him of who should be there. The smell still clung to the bed, but Dan could deal with it and try and fall asleep. It was pretty easy when he was all cried out and felt horrible, his throat was killing too from the crying.

He remembered running his fingers along Phil's back and joining up the freckles, making him giggle as it tickled him. It was one of the fondest things he did, and it was intimate. Dan didn't care so much for the sex, he loved Phil and nothing changed it. Soulmates were always together, and they were exactly that.

"Dan, I'm sorry, it's not you at all." Phil ran his hands through his hair, showcasing the roses on his elbows. Had he not changed his clothes? "I don't care, please can you just explain what's going on? I've been tearing my hair out wondering why this happened."

It hurt to see Dan's eyes well up, but Phil just didn't have the words until he was getting pulled over into the main room and on to the couch. "You can tell me anything, we can work it out." Dan took both of Phil's hands in his, rubbing his thumbs in slow circles. "You're going to hate me for it." Phil sighed, body deflating slightly. "I told you I'd never hate you, whatever is going on, you're mine."

There was a moment of silence between them, they didn't even notice the noise from the neighbours as they went about their daily life - they had no clue what the boys were going through.

Although loud, Dan and Phil were loved by their neighbours and they got on well. They weren't very sociable, so there wasn't much conversation between them, and the neighbours wouldn't go out of their way to see them. Actually, they had done once, when Dan had been extremely rageful for a gaming video. It was embarrassing when the woman asked if Dan was okay, and when the look told Phil that the woman thought they were having sex, but she was quick understanding when he explained that they were just YouTubers and they were playing games, he snuck some extra views from her too. If their neighbours were asked to describe them, they'd call them happy and sweet, and say that they didn't have to steal their dog and could just ask to have her in their apartment for a while.

They wanted a dog of their own someday.

"Dan, it's nothing, it's me." Phil tried to pull away, but Dan held him on to couch. "Then you at least owe me an explanation." He was trying not to cry, they both were, if they cried then who knows where they'd end up. "I can't give you what you want." Phil didn't really know where to look then, it was sort of embarrassing. "You can, you do! What do you mean?" Dan shuffled closer slightly. "It's... I'm just... Look, I love you, but when we have sex I feel nothing, absolutely nothing."

It was a shock for Dan, one he didn't really understand, but he didn't jump on being hurt. "Why? Has something happened?" It worried Dan that Phil could've been hurt, or that he himself had done something wrong. "No, no... I just don't feel the whole appeal for sex, it doesn't really get me." "So you don't like sex?" "It's kind of like that, I just hate having to lie to you when we get intimate like that, you deserve someone who can give you all you want and more. That person isn't me, I can't even get this right."

 Phil's eyes dropped to his lap when he finished his little explanation, but Dan jumped on it quick enough. "Phil, it's not you getting things wrong! You don't feel anything for sex, and that's completely fine. Sex isn't why I love you!" Dan didn't really know how to face it, he was usually comforting and eloquent with his words to people, but it just seemed different.

"But you need someone to-" Phil took his hand away to gesture, a bit lost on how to say it, but it was obvious what he meant. "I have my hand, and... other things." Dan winked, and Phil covered his own face. "Dan!" "What? It's true!" "Yeah, but you didn't have to say it!" They smiled at each other, glad to be back to that then the tension that they'd both felt the past week or more. "Well I did, but anyway, I still love you Phil. You could've come to me about this and I'd have helped you work it out. Just because I'm not not into sex doesn't mean I'm mad at you for it."

There was a bit of a pause while they got used to it, until Dan broke it, "You can say you're ace!" He put on a northern accent for the 'ace' earning a playful slap on the arm from Phil. "I don't know whether to leave you for that." "You couldn't bare." Dan grinned, then took the chance to crawl into Phil's lap and wrap his arms around him. "Guess what." He said. "You're a penguin?" "That's weird." "Well what else was I supposed to say?" "That I love you, silly." "Come here." Phil rolled his eyes, but brought Dan down to kiss him. "I've missed you."

From there, they ended up lying on the couch, Phil clinging to Dan to stop him falling off the edge. "I'm supposed to be the melodramatic one, you ass." Dan said, eyes fixed on the TV. "What do you mean?" "That whole show of leaving me without a second look, like you could leave my fine ass behind." "You've used ass twice." "Ha! You can't argue it!" Dan laughed, but he did it a little too hard and slipped out of Phil's arms and onto the floor. A string of profanities followed with the bang of him hitting the carpet. "Language Daniel." Phil laughed, tongue sticking out the side of his mouth. "My butt! It's ruined!" Dan howled, exactly what Phil was thinking - melodramatic.

"Phil help, you must carry me to our bed and watch over me as I recover." Dan lay down, arm slung over his eyes. "Why should I?" "Because you love me." Dan whined, lips twitching into a smile. Phil had an idea, he stood up and grabbed Dan's ankles, beginning to pull him along the floor. "Phil! Put me down!" "You asked for it." Phil was giggling, then he got to the stairs. "Phil don't you even dare." Dan was close to shrieking. "Give me your arms, Howell." Phil dropped his ankles and went to his wrists.

Dan was one step ahead and tried to scrabble away from Phil, laughing with him as he did. He started running up the stairs, tripping onto all fours and beginning to go up them. "Come here!" Phil followed Dan and wrapped his arms around his waist, holding him still. "No! You caught me!".

Phil clung to Dan's back, making him climb the last few steps with him there. "Phil, I am not a horse!" He was laughing though, and when he got to his room he stood over the bed and shook so Phil fell off, hitting the bed with a soft wail of the springs.

"Happy now?" Dan rolled his eyes and sat on the bed while Phil got himself so he was lying with his head on the pillows. "Of course." And Dan lay next to him, weaving his fingers with Phil's. "I love you, you mustn't forget it." Dan moved so his head was on Phil's shoulder. They were back together, that's all that was ever going to matter.

In which OFSA kinda sorta switches fandoms and tries to explain it all

So most of this is super duper rambly, and if you don't want to read this entire thing, long story short, is I'm jumping ship fandom wise and this blog is going to start reflecting that.

A lot of you guys have probably noticed that I don't really post anything here anymore-- at least a lot less anime gifs and a lot more original stuff like fanfiction and art. But I can't write and draw as fast as I can reblog, so that's why I've basically disappeared off of Tumblr's radar. Well, there's a reason for that.

I started this blog off as exclusively an anime blog. I remember when I first started this, I was super into the seasonal anime stuff (right around that time that Tokyo ghoul and Zankyou no Terror were premiering) and tumblr was sort of like that output for that episodical excitement.

I also remember that I was quickly unfollowing anything that wasn't anime, as I felt that, at the time, it unnecessarily cluttered up my dashboard.

So I guess you're wondering where all this is going. Well, I'm jumping ships.

I don't even remember the last time I watched a full season of anime. It might have been... Shokugeki no Soma? I actually can't even think of it. I've basically fallen off the radar for anime. So that leads us to the larger question: What replaced anime for me?

I've realized that I've turned into complete and utter kpop trash. But it's not even just a general kpop thing-- its very specifically BTS. So I'm going from the world of weeaboo to ARMY land.

There's also the large question of why I didn't simply jump blogs, and keep this one like a sort of graveyard. And I really can't come up with any rational reason other than I'm simply attached. I don't want to throw this all away. OFSA is my handle for EVERYTHING online. And I don't want to get rid of that. So it felt wrong making a new blog for kpop.

I wrote all this out for two reasons: Firstly as an announcement. I didn't want people wondering who the heck this ofsa is and why they're posting WINGS theories six months too late to these people that are most definitely not two dimensional. But more importantly, I posted this because I feel like I owe the very small amount of followers I have an explanation for why I jumped ship, and this is my apology.

Past this is just me rambling some more about the reasoning for everything and how this even came about in the first place.

My journey into kpop wasn't even on purpose. I was browsing Archive for some reading one night, and decided to try a different fandom on-- specifically kpop. At the time, I was reading mainly CanonxOC pairings, and while Archive is much less abundant with OC firs than fanfiction.net, that was the only site I knew of that had a kpop category.

So I went about my happy way, sorted by kudos and tags containing OC with F/M pairing only, and clicked sort.

It just so happened that the first story that popped up was a BTS story under the name of "To Sleep Perchance to Dream" which was a Taehyung/OC piece. I was happy with any Kpop group, and this story just happened to be the first one that wasn't in second person.

So I read the story. It was nice and fluffy and made me all nice and happy, but it wasn't like the stars aligned and I realized that I was going to completely drop anime forever. I think I tried to find some more OC stories for BTS but wasn't happy with he quality, so I didn't bother.

Well, that was the starting point. It wasn't like I stopped reading anything else. I still read Pokémon and Tokyo Ghoul and tons of other fandoms. But Kpop had popped onto my radar.

I dont even remember when I started listening to it on YouTube. I had already been exposed to it thanks to FBE and youtubers react to kpop, but I had never actively searched it out.

Enter a website called reddit, and a smaller section of reddit, /r/fanfiction. Different fanfiction authors go there to discuss various things, and I vividly remember one of the fairly common posts mentioning a website called asianfanfics.

I recognized that any website called that was guaranteed to be as big of a mess as Wattpad, but I was curious. And I wanted another BTS fic.

Curiosity killed the cat.

It wasn't even like I had struck gold or anything. The first story I read wasn't even BTS, it was EXO. I could barely keep all the characters straight, and the writing was only barely above Wattpad in terms of quality, but it had definitely reignited my interest.

Short disclaimer here: I really don't like asianfanfics. It requires users to make accounts, and oftentimes, authors would require you to "subscribe" to stories to read the full chapter. And that's basically a personal offense in my book, but that's another post for another day. But beggars can't be choosers.

I read a variety of stories on there, mostly gang AU's because it surely beat slice of life, and read a wide variety of stories. They were still barley decent as far as my standards went, but I had already lowered my standards.

Sometime during this whole thing, I got a very dangerous mind set: I can do better than that.

Which really began the decent into kpop. I already had a very clear image in my head at the story. I just had to chose my fandom, which at that time, was BTS. And then the research. OH the research. The story I had/have planned follows the life of the idols. So I had to start learning about them in anyway that I could (and considering I couldn't put a name to a single face in BTS, it was going to take a while.)

So I dived headfirst into the fandom. Bangtang Bombs, reviews, theories, oh lord it was so much. And it still is.

That's where I am now: watching BTS crack videos and slowly planning out this monstrosity of a story. Thanks if you made it this far, and I'll see you guys in the world of kpop.

Tag 10 People You Want to Get to Know Better I was tagged by the lovely @jayspants on my other blog but I though this blog was a better place to answer it! Favourite anime/manga: Naruto Whooo boy. If it can hold my attention for longer than the first few episodes then I like it. I mean I've seen all the ones everyone watches when they're 13, but I'm kinda hard to please when it comes to what I'm watching. I guess I liked MÄR a lot but that was never too popular besides the first season on adult swim but man, do I LOVE NARUTO. I've loved naruto since I was 11. I'm going to be 21 here, so that's about half my life. I love that scrappy blonde doof and I love his terrible trash son. I love them. Curse Kishimoto and his plot holes and terrible writing, but I'm still a die hard fan. Favourite Manga: I really, REALLY liked Inubaka. I like animals, so it's really not a surprise? Inubaka is about a girl who moves to the city with her mutt Lupin, and ends up working at a pet store after her dog breeds the owners dog by accident. After that they do all kinds of crazy dog things and encourage good pet ownership. Ive kinda lost touch with the series in the last couple years. I also liked Loveless a lot before I kinda... understood. I'm not in to lolicon. I also own almost all of fruits basket. Favourite Anime: Sooo I almost can't watch anything popular. The fandoms make me sick before I even get a chance to get in to them, in fact I'd start and not be able to finish. I didn't finish Welcome to the NHK, Soul Eater, and I never even got to start Yuri On Ice. I did finish Tokyo Ghoul though, and I liked Beyond the Boundary and Kill La Kill, but I haven't finished those yet. I'm not too good at binge watching things because I have a hard time paying attention. Because I already talked about Naruto, I'll say my favorite anime is Free! Iwatobi Swim Club. Though, for years I was absolutely crazy about Ginga. I love the anime dogs and their murderous ways. I also... really liked Ocha Ken. Which is a really, really cute little Japanese children's show about dogs made out of tea leaves. Favourite video games: MAN DO I LOVE ME SOME ANIMAL CROSSING. I've got all the titles and everything. I've got my fc listed on my header here and I'd love to play with you guys!! I also really like Harvest moon, though since the companies split I suppose it's called Story of seasons now. I have a sickening amount of money sunk in to the series. I liked Ocarina of time too and I still love Pokemon! Favourite TV shows: I really like cheesy paranormal shows. That's my go to. But I also used to watch Scream Queens religiously before it was canceled. I've also LOVE LetterKenny. If you are looking to laugh so hard you snort that's letterkenny. Those are my extent of real adult tv shows tho. I love cartoons!! My top faves are Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Star Vs The Forces Of Evil, My Little Pony, and retro 90s stuff. Last song I listened to: Oh boy I was at a 4 day horse shows and jfc did I listen to me some hillbilly music. I'm super sick and I actually can't remember what was on the radio last. Final Thoughts - Fall 2018

This season dragged on me a lot, and I attribute that mostly to the fact that I moved right at the end and it put me way behind schedule, but also because a number of shows looked like they were going to really go the distance and wound up with one big disappointment or another.

That’s not to say that there weren’t gems - in fact there were a few - but this was yet another season where my “Hall of Fame” looked woefully light. That being said, I’d really like to get this over with since I have other shows to finish and three more lists to make for the year, so as usual, let’s start with the stuff I skipped entirely:

* Tokyo Ghoul re: Second Season & Gurazeni Season 2 because I didn’t watch either of their previous seasons.

* Senran Kagura Shinovi Master because Senran Kagura as a property is built entirely on half-naked girls with big boobs and that’s not going to jive with me.

Wow, that’s really it? Fall was the beginning of a lot of shows that won’t be finished until sometime in 2019, so the other shows I skipped will appear next year on the Multi-Cour list. So, moving right along, from bottom to top...

DROPPED

* WORST OF THE SEASON: TIE

UZAMAID!, My Sister My Writer (1/10)

We did have multiple entries into the Hall of Shame this season, with not one but two shows being offensive enough that they landed a 1/10 score from me, for an easily identifiable and familiar reason: actively glorifying pedophilia! That was pretty much UZAMAID!’s biggest problem, but My Sister My Writer aged up the target character in exchange for recycling the plots of OreImo and Eromanga Sensei, with all of the bullshit and none of the production values. Happy Sugar Life has even further convinced me that there is absolutely no excuse for this garbage anymore.

* Conception (2/10)

A video game adaptation that strips away the actual gameplay elements and focuses entirely on the main character figuratively fucking a lot of fantasy women to make world-saving babies, and it doesn’t even have the courtesy to look like it cost more than $5 to make.

* Ulysses: Jeanne D’arc and the Alchemist Knight (3/10)

I didn’t get far enough into this one to get to the real garbage (I’ve heard it’s another show I should probably throw in with the worst of the season) but the very first episode bored me to tears with its rote anime nonsense. I’m pretty well convinced that the only way I could ever find a Joan of Arc anime interesting is if it were an adaptation of the Level 5 PSP game.

* Between the Sky and Sea (3/10)

I can’t deconstruct this any better than Mother’s Basement did but it is just the most asinine thing I was subjected to for the whole season. Cute girls don’t fix a terminally stupid concept like “all the fish have moved into space and so now we train teenage girls to be astronaut fishers”.

* Bakumatsu (3/10)

I dropped this one an entire point from when I first reviewed it simply because I had entirely forgotten it even existed and cannot remember a single thing about it except that it was generic.

* As Miss Beelzebub Likes It (4/10)

I found this one’s first episode to be cute but entirely devoid of substance. Also, the poster still hurts my eyes to look at.

* DAKAICHI -I’m being harassed by the sexiest man of the year- (4/10) & Bloom Into You (4/10)

Proof that actual gay people just cannot have nice things, the most explicitly LGBT shows to be made in a while both suffer from the same problem: a supposedly sympathetic character having no ability to take “no” for an answer. True fact: not all gay relationships start with rape, and this is the kind of entertainment that fosters young people into not knowing how consent works.

* ReRideD: Derrida Who Leaps Through Time (4/10)

I guess everybody else saw this one coming before I did? It was the first post-premiere show I dropped because I thought the first episode showed an interesting setup, and the following episodes just completely abandoned the apocalyptic setting very quickly to show that society was pretty much fine, there were just robots roaming the earth like random D&D encounters. Man, sci-fi cannot catch a break these days.

* Ms. vampire who lives in my neighborhood. (5/10)

I can see why this might appeal to some but it’s basically just a low-rent Miss Kobayashi’s Maid Dragon and I wasn’t feeling especially charitable towards it.

* Double Decker! Doug & Kirill (5/10)

I really thought this one could get to be more interesting, but it failed to really commit to being either anime’s Brooklyn 99 (which, for the record, we have, it’s Blood Blockade Battlefront season 2) or being a serious tale about the dangers of Tide Po-I mean, drug usage, and wound up just being an uninteresting thud.

* The Girl in the Twilight (5/10)

This one really could have made it if only it had taken things a little more seriously and not made me wonder why the cast are even friends as they seem to have nothing in common. I can’t believe that the creator of this project was the guy who wrote the script for Punch Line, one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.

* Tsurune (6/10)

I literally just finished my write-up for this, but I do not understand why the same company would make both this and a continuation of Free! airing in back-to-back seasons, it just makes this one look like a copycat even if it’s not a bad show.

* Gakuen Basara: Samurai High School because I’m not familiar with the source material and that seems to be the barrier for enjoyment here.

SPECIAL

* Anima Yell! (6/10)

If you need a reminder, I dropped Anima Yell after the first episode because even though I enjoyed it, I found it too similar to Comic Girls and didn’t particularly want to go through the effort of finishing a show I was already pretty ready to score, even if it was going to be a positive one. I simply didn’t have time.

FINISHED (Note that Tumblr has completely broken and I’ve had to re-edit this portion a dozen times because it keeps randomly bolding paragraphs and losing GIFs, so if anything got lost here, I’m very sorry but there’s nothing I can do about it.)

* Boarding School Juliet (7/10)

A pleasant little romantic comedy that wasn’t what I was expecting from the first episode but was charming nevertheless. Would have been better without the involvement of attempted rape on school grounds in the premiere though. * Release the Spyce (7/10)

A thrilling and surprisingly brutal little spy show that wound up being overshadowed by better shows with similar concepts but was a fun watch nonetheless, even if it dragged in the middle.

* Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai (8/10)

I stand by what I said before - this one would have easily scored higher with a better ending, but Bunny Girl Senpai is certainly the most approachable show of its genre and its strengths as a romance are not to be understated. 

* Zombieland Saga (8/10)

Another Very Good show that could have been better with one simple change - it’s hilarious and very well-written, but those performance sequences are just awful to look at and the heavier focus on them towards the end did not help.

* Iroduku: The World in Colors (8/10)

A stunning treasure that needed a little more character work for the writing to really impress me, but with a very satisfying ending and a ton of visual creativity.

* Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san (9/10)

A fucking hysterical show scientifically grown in a lab to appeal to me, Honda-san could have been the new INFERNO COP, SAVIOR OF ANIME if more people had given it a chance.

* BEST OF THE SEASON: SSSS.Gridman (9/10)

I don’t know what else to say other than that this is easily the most criminally underappreciated show of the year. A lot of people seemed to be turned off by giant robots fighting kaiju, and those people are dumb.

And that was Fall! I’ve got a few Netflix shows left and I have to finish Classicaloid 2, and then I’ll be all done with 2018, so get ready, I’ve got a few more lists on the way!

Sorry guys, I know the schedule is a bit off this week but to be fair BoogiePop started it! Just randomly dropping 4 episodes at once. That’s rude to us reviewers. Ok Ok, discussers and occasional screencap takers…

Anywho Shania and I are back, braving snow and lack of sleep to bring you this now slightly outdated BoogiePop review. There was a pretty steep drop off in reviews this week so we thought it was important that we do our part. But I can’t say I’m thrilled about it.

Shania was a bit too busy to host this week so I get a second round. I wanted to make sure I gave Shania plenty of room. Sometimes I have a bad habit of taking over when I do these things because I just throw everything I can think of down on the page and there isn’t much left for the other person to comment on.

So the post is split in two, the first half is just an outline for Shania to let us know what she thought of this week’s BoogiePop and Others and I put my blathering at the end where you can conveniently skip it if you like. Kind of like a timestamp on a YouTube video!

I must say after the last episode, I was expecting more. I’m sadly disappointed.

I always hated animal testing in school and  disliked seeing it in anime.

Same. I nearly turned off the show when I saw it cause its quite unpleasant to me. Plus theres no real reason to test on them. But that’s a rant for another day.

Do you think human evolution would lead to apparent invulnerability?

I knew it would cause something to happen. When people try to evolve into something better or stronger, there’s always going to be drawbacks. For example in Tokyo Ghoul with the Doves.

What was your favourite part?

To be perfectly honest I didn’t exactly have a favorite part. It was pretty even keel.

Fair enough, although to me there was a big difference between the first and second half. 

Apparently, this storyline is going to continue into at least one more episode. Are you happy about that?

I kinda wish it would stretch a little longer because I feel like they could do more with it.

Heh. Its Boogiepop Irina, no one knows for sure.

As for me, I found last week’s episode a lot more compelling and just more satisfying. Scarecrow was an interesting character and his connection to the organization made them a much more interesting villain than in the previous arc.

By contrast, eveil shrink lady might as well have been twirling a curly mustache for how much of a flat stereotypical villain she was. And gross out scares doesn’t fit the atmosphere of the show very well at all.

As far as I’m concerned the first half of the episode kept going from boring to unpleasant and back again with very little to keep me watching. Also, I’m quite unclear as to why a further step in human evolution would make us seemingly immune to physical harm. Yes, we have gain a lot of longevity but that is mostly due to advances in medicine, technology and lifestyle. As far as just plain physical resilience goes I think we may have taken a step back. Peanuts kill us now… At this point, nit picking at this particular plot element seems very silly but as it’s the motivation for both the organization and he shrink (yes I forgot her name), I believe it deserves a bit more context.

However, despite everything, BoogiePop itself remains an interesting character and I thought the episode really picked up as soon as it made its appearance.

The unsaid implications that young Miyashita has been carrying BoogiePop for a while and the consequences it has had on her life were in fact one of the more interesting revelations of the series. For some reason I had always figured that BoogiePop could make people forget about it whenever convenient. The idea that it created a rift between the girl and her mother, to the point where she was brought to seek out psychiatric help, really makes me consider the situation in a new light.

It might be because I found the new characters particularly weak, but I thought BoogiePop really commanded the scene. I honestly would have liked their discussion to have gone on a little longer despite desperately wanting the episode to end just five minutes earlier. And that’s a tribute to…something…

I can’t say the characterisation is particularly good or the pacin. The narrative is still a holey mess but it manages to make me want o know what happens next, nevertheless. For reasons I can’t quite explain, I don’t’ believe the series to be all that good, but I also really want it to be good. Such are the mysteries of BoogiePop, I guess! What did you guys think?
