That creepy smile grows on his face. "You like me," he says like itâs a fact. âWhat the- what?â You share a glance with Mr. Crawling. âYou slow in head?â

Ëâź yeah idk, lowkey some enemies to (potential) lovers, i have no idea how to characterise mr scarletella, but i tried my best and then i kinda got a little too invested in trying to spin the fic the way i wanted and wrote a little more than usual... sorry if ur disappointed, i tried to keep the whole courting/jealous thing subtle but still kinda there >w<
warnings. canon typical violence >w<
Youâre not sure when you met the man in red, but you know heâs stalking you now. And itâs getting seriously old. Unlike the ghosts and monsters youâve had the pleasure of meeting, this one doesnât know how to take a hint.
Your first unofficial encounter with him is something that sent shivers down your spine, tucked away under Mr. Crawlingâs arm and clutching onto his kimono for dear life. The second encounter was much worse- separated from your other worldly protector and left running down an almost comically long and creepy hallway where he just magically appears in front of you.Â
You donât even think twice before you smash the crowbar into his form with all your strength, but it was futile the way he flickered? in front of your own eyes and left a weird moist residue on your weapon. You scowled, and rudely pointed a finger at him- âWhat the hellâs your problem, dude?â
In response, he leaned in close- so close that your nose nearly touched his. The tilt of his scarlet umbrella cast a dark shadow over you, and as he peered down, one black eye appeared from behind his hair, locking onto you with a soul-piercing stare. You felt stripped bare under that gaze, vulnerable and exposed, like he was seeing straight into your core, uncovering forgotten memories, pieces of yourself even you couldnât remember. He smiledâa slow, unsettling curl of his lips that chilled you to your bonesâand said something you didnât understand. It sounded like a question, maybe, though you couldnât be sure. You didnât care. You spat out a few choice words and swung again, hard.
At least for a while, he left you alone.
Has it been days, weeks, or even months since youâve got here? It was difficult to keep track, and it was difficult to even care anymore. The place was, without a doubt, growing on you by the day. Even if it was filled with hostile creatures that wanted to eat you sometimes, and when your skin started to get discoloured and you had the inhuman itch that just could never be satisfied- it wasnât that bad! Hell, you even made a few friends and claimed a comfortable bed in some random room you found.
However, just as you finally started settling into the place, you had your third encounter with Mr. Scarletella.
It started with a dream- from before you came to this world. That man in red⊠A test of courage, your friends called it- spending a night in those so-called âGhost Apartments.â Your friends hadnât known it then, but you were quite familiar with the building for reasons, and set yourself up in a cosy corner and the night was supposed to sail smoothly.
A rumour had surfaced- a tale of a ruin that appears only on rainy days, where youâre warned never to give your name to the figure youâll meet there. That figure, they said, would take your soul. At the end of a dim hallway, standing silently under a scarlet umbrella, he was waiting. The man in red, eyes hidden beneath his hair. He was watching you. Or was he? Somehow you could feel his stare even if you couldnât see it.Â
You woke up, heart pounding, muttering a string of curses. You groan, rubbing a hand down your face. The discoloration of your skin hadnât gotten any worse, but it hadnât gotten better, either. The longer you stayed here, the more the place left its mark. As long as you remained relatively human, and the only thing this place took from you was your memory, you werenât too fussed. How could you possibly miss something from the other world when all you could remember was smashing a crowbar into someoneâs head?
You swing your legs over the bed, feet touching the cold ground. The chill sent a jolt up your spine, and it was almost too tempting to get back under the cosy, warm sheets. You stretch your arms above your head, bones cracking and popping into place and mumble a hazy âGood morningâ to Mr. Crawling that should have been in the other bed. Silence wasnât something you were used to around him- and you whip around so fast that you gave yourself whiplash.
Cursing, you grab your crowbar and stumble out of the room with a hand rubbing your tender neck. You didnât need to look far- you could see Mr. Crawling at the end of the hallway.
And Mr. Scarletella.Â
The man in red was bent over to be face to face with Mr. Crawling, all-too-familiar sinister smirk on his face. Mr. Crawling didnât look so happy either, and they seemed to be having an argument. You stomp your feet as you make your way over to the two, hand tightening on your crowbar as you ready yourself to fight literal static if it meant leaving your best friend in here alone.
âYou,â you scowl, pointing your weapon at him. âYou problem?â
Mr. Crawling scurries to your side, a hand gripping onto your clothes. âDangerous⊠should get away!â he urges, tugging.Â
You shush him with a pat on his head with your free hand and continue to glare at that menace.Â
âYou like them?â is the only thing Mr. Scarletella asks with a tilt of his head, smile seemingly disappearing into thin air.
Glancing at Mr. Crawling, his face covered in worry- you feel the familiar itch of your skin. You take a breath, going through all the reasons why you canât actually kill Mr. Scarletella, and loosen the grip on your crowbar. From what you can sense right now, heâs not actually that much of a threat. Just a nuisance that canât seem to leave you alone.Â
âThem friend,â you reply, deadpan. What type of question was that anyway? This guy was a freak.Â
That creepy smile grows on his face. "You like me," he says like itâs a fact.
âWhat the- what?â You share a glance with Mr. Crawling. You turn back to Mr. Scarletella. âYou slow in head?â
The smile on Mr. Scarletellaâs face falters just for a moment, but it quickly returns, more chilling than before. He stands there, towering above you. Despite your snarky comment, he doesnât look offended- no, itâs almost as if heâs intrigued by your resistance.
You tighten your hold on the crowbar. âYou problem.â You frown. âGo away.â
Instead, his grin deepens, his head tilting at such an unnatural angle that you can feel your stomach churn. Itâs as though heâs studying you, savouring every little bit of your discomfort. Surely, turning your head at that angle is gonna hurt⊠You audibly gulp.
âProblem later,â Mr. Scarletella says, and with an unsettling flicker, heâs gone.Â
The next time you saw him after that was in less tense circumstances. It was unsettling after whatever that was with his coy little âProblem laterâ, you werenât going to worry too much about it for the time being. You decided youâll worry about it when the problem occurs, which probably wasnât the smartest of ideas you had.Â
The earth shakes, and youâre completely cut off from Mr. Crawling. Wandering down hallways, resting in random rooms- you never really felt alone. You turn a corner, dizziness growing by the minute, and pause.
âYou again,â you sigh. You donât even bother lifting your crowbar at him. âWhat do you want?â
He appears directly in front of you, causing you to stumble back a few steps at just how tall he is. He bends down to your eye level, umbrella covering both of you once again. âGive name?â he asks.Â
âNo. Go away.â
âGive name. Teach.â
âGo away!â
âTeach name.â
âFine! My nameâs⊠you pause. You didnât actually have to give him your real name, did you? â...Silvair, or something.â
He gets closer to your face. You take another few steps back, but not before you get the smell of blood and dampness off of him. It takes all the willpower in your body to not scrunch your face up.Â
âWrong name.â
âSo what? Itâs a name.â You scoff. Mr. Scarletella is silent, eerily so, and you can feel his piercing gaze stare through you once more. You awkwardly avoid eye contact, and clear your throat. âIâm⊠gonna go now, okay?â You turn on your feet and only make it a few steps.
âYou teach them name?â
Them? Mr. Crawling? That guy doesnât even understand the concept of his own name! The scowl feels as if itâs permanently etched onto your face. You whip around, pointing another disapproving finger into his red raincoat. It feels fuzzy⊠and wet. It grosses you out, almost. More than Mr. Gapâs greasy hair.
âNo,â you hiss. âI donât even remember my own name.â He stares, silently. âMe,â you point to yourself, ânot know name.â
â...Not know name?â he echoes. What you said has him lost, you could see that.Â
Just like that, heâs gone again. You donât see him for a few more days, nor do you find Mr. Crawling. You spend your time aimlessly wandering, knowing eventually youâll most likely find someone you know in a friendly manner, and not pondering if every ghost you come across is a friend or a foe.Â
You awake promptly to a sound of a chainsaw revving. As if it was a morning routine, you stumble to your feet, grasping for your crowbar that should have, without a doubt, been next to you⊠only to grasp at air. Okay, now you are starting to feel a little panic.
Through trial and error, you knew that whatever wound you receive will heal, with time- but it doesnât mean you were looking forward to being maimed to shreds with a chainsaw!Â
âHehe.â
You froze, heart racing, and slowly turn around. There that wretched little being was- the stupid little fucker in the goat costume. The âHooded Childâ, the thing was termed. In itâs stupid little fucking hands, it held you handy-dandy crowbar thatâs been with you thick and thin. Your stomach churns.Â
You gulp and face back towards the open doorway- a long black abyss, stretching on and on, with only the haunting bounce of that chainsaw, crawling along the walls. That chainsaw that was about to mince you in a matter of seconds. That chainsaw that was approaching you rapidly.
Frantically, you grab the nearest thing you could reach for. A metal chair. You wince. Probably not the best thing you couldâve grabbed, but itâll have to do. Itâs a matter of- well, technically life or life, but still! You could feel the sweat on your palms, the adrenaline pumping through your veins and your heart hammering through your ribcage.Â
You lift the chair above your head as the monster comes into view- a tall, masked being in a strapless floor length black dress⊠wait, why was she dressed so sexy? Your surprise leads you to hesitate as she rushes at you with her machine. You let out a yelp as you whack the chair down in front of you, metal clanging echoing throughout the room.
Complete silence. Not even the sound of that chainsaw. Not even the sound of metal. Â
âHuh?â You blink, once, twice, thrice at the sliced up body of that creature, blood splatter on your clothes. There was blood even on the ceiling, too⊠You drop the chair in utter confusion. âWhat the hell?â
âHelp you.â
âYou again!â You spin on your feet, meeting the dull eyes of Mr. Scarletella. Youâre about to huff and puff this guy into next week, but pause. You leave your accusing finger down by your side. This guy just saved you from that thing. You avert your eyes and scuff your feet against the ground with a cough into your fist. âUhm⊠Thank you.â
Wow, this guy really has an intense stare⊠Way to make things unnecessarily intense and awkward.Â
âProtect you,â he says. âYou like me?â
âTake me out to dinner first, man!â you exclaim, crossing your arms over your chest. âNot like. You not bad. Not good. You okay.â
Mr. Scarletella dons an out of place frown that even makes you feel a little uneasy. âThem protect you. You like them.â
âThem friend,â you stress, finally meeting his gaze once more. You kind of regret it. This guy doesnât blink. âYouâŠâ Weird? Off-putting? Freaky? â...unsafe.â
âMe safe. Protect you. Help you.âÂ
You sigh. âUnsafe to friend.â
He just stands there, holding that stupid umbrella, with that unblinking stare. You blink at him and squint your eyes. His facial expression doesnât change. Completely unfazed. You canât even tell if heâs confused, or upset, or whatever he could possibly be. Your breath hitches as his unsettlingly familiar smile returns.
He tilts his head. âMe good. Me show you.â
Then heâs gone again. You can finally breathe. Your heart is still pumping. You slide against the wall, landing on the ground and resting your head against your knees. You clutch at your raincoat with shaking fists.Â
Mr. Scarletella - you knew he was meant to be dangerous, but he just saved you a whole lot of pain. Even if he was still a threat to Mr. Crawling, and hounds you for your name, asks you weird questions, could he honestly be as bad as you originally thought he was? You canât deny that he did save you⊠but his presence is more dangerous than comforting. Heâs both a threat and an aid, but never clear on which heâll be at any given moment. One thing is for certain, however, and that was that he was persistent for your attention. WaitâŠÂ
Oh my good God, does he like you?
âHehâŠâ Chuckling, you tuck your hair behind your ear. âI am pretty cute.â
You stand, and decide itâs better to think about while on the move back to Mr. Crawling. You reach for your crowbar, and curse. Of course. The Hooded Child took it with them when they disappeared when Mr. Stalkerella showed up. Well, you sigh as you drag the chair behind you as you exit the room, at least you have a temporary weapon, for nowâŠ
Making it back to Mr. Crawling didnât take that much longer. He greets you, frown on his face and long arms wrapping around your waist. âMe worried! You gone long time!â Â
âLong time,â you agree, bending down to his level. You ruffle his hair, a smile finally sliding onto your face. It quickly turns into a pout as you wave your empty hands. âLost attack tool.âÂ
Mr. Crawling points to the spilled blood on your raincoat with a high pitched noise. You sheepishly giggle, and gesture to the chair behind you. He tilts his head, processing, before letting out his all familiar laugh. You sigh in content, glad to see a friendly face and let him pet you for a while.Â
He stops petting you, and turns around. âAttack tool!â he smiles wide, your trusty weapon in his grey hands. âThem give me.â
âThem?â you repeat, taking the crowbar, twisting and turning it in your grasp. âThem who?â
âThem!âÂ
Curse this damn language.Â
âMr. Crawling,â you hold his face in your hands, âwhat look like?â
His smile falters, and if you could see his eyebrows, youâd imagine they would be furrowed. He takes a moment to think, and points to the blood on your raincoat, and attempts to imitate holding anâŠ
Umbrella.
You stare. And stare. And stare. You canât even begin to process what Mr. Crawling just said to you, debating maybe you actually were growing crazy and it was finally time to bounce out of this place- andddd of course, you notice a red flicker at the end of the hallway. You tilt your head past Mr. Crawling.
That scarlet umbrella tilts slightly, and just for a split second, you catch a glimmer of that piercing dark eye staring straight at you, as if watching every nerve fire under your skin. You can see his smile from here, as if it was a smug âI told you soâ but it was actually a âMe show you.âÂ
Well⊠Mr. Scarletella did show you. And now you were just left, to put it simply, utterly fucking confused. It just drilled the narrative down deeper of the possibility that he did like you. So⊠what do you do now? Do you apologise for trying to smash his head in with a crowbar? For being so rude?Â
How do you even apologise for something you donât even remotely feel sorry for in the first place? Mr. Scarletella was creepy! âŠAt least, he was kind of sweet. Not really- his intentions were anything but kind. But still!
You bite the inside of your cheek. âŠIs it wrong to feel a little flattered? Thereâs barely any romance in this place anyway!
In your world, things are either friend or foe, monster or protector. But Mr. Scarletella? He exists in some in-between place. Dangerous yet helpful. Itâs as if heâs deliberately defying every category you try to force him into. And now, the memory of his unsettling question repeats in your mind- âYou like me?â - echoing in your thoughts with a kind of twisted innocence that gnaws at you, a bit more with each repetition.
Mr. Crawling gives a soft, anxious chirp, tugging you slightly, drawing you out of your thoughts. Heâs still eyeing the red figure warily. He points. âThem⊠dangerous? Them good?âÂ
âNot know,â you mumble, defeated. âGood, maybe.â You stand to your feet, crowbar falling off of your lap and clanging onto the floor. âMe, them, talk. You stay.â
Mr. Crawling makes a noise of protest, hand reaching out to grasp at your clothes. You reassuringly ruffle his hair once more, and make your way to the end of the hallway. You donât hear him follow behind you.
Face to face, you stand in front of the smiling Mr. Scarletella. He stares down at you, unblinking, unmoving.Â
âCanât give name,â you remind him.
He leans his face down, ever so close. âMe like you.â A pause. âWant you.â Another pause. âYou like me. Give me many human. Give me many blood.âÂ
Well⊠In your defence, you didnât know your corpse dumping ground was Mr. Scarletellaâs domain.Â
âGetting in over your own headâŠâ you grumble, and lift up your hand. You pinch your fingers together. âLittle like you. Okay? LITTLE.â You wonder if this guyâs smile could get any bigger, geez⊠âYou want big like?â You point your index towards him. âBe normal. Be good. Understand?â
âNormal? âGood?â He seems to chew over the words like theyâre a foreign delicacy, his head tilting at that unnatural angle again. âFor⊠you?â
âYou good,â you waggle your finger at him, âI teach name. Maybe. If I can remember itâŠâ
Thereâs an unnatural, prolonged silence in the air. Youâre beginning to feel the awkward tension once more, but your resolve refuses you to break the unblinking eye contact you keep with him.Â
And finally, he speaks once more, agreeing to your proposition, âYou teach good, you teach name.â
You hold back your groan- whatever this dance you two were playing, was going to take a long time to progress.
But at least something is better than nothing, right?

Rio Vidal is your neighbour. You've noticed her plenty of times beforeâa striking woman with a sharp, confident look that's hard to ignore. You live in the same apartment building, just across the hall from one another. Most days, your interactions are limited to polite smiles and brief chats in the elevator, her dark suit and badge often catching your eye. You've heard her phone buzz with work calls that end with her curt, professional voice. It's obvious she's someone importantâserious and dedicated. You've pieced together that she's an FBI agent, but beyond that, you don't know much about her.
You can't deny that you're drawn to her, though. There's something about the way she carries herselfâall self-assured and enigmatic. You've caught yourself staring a few times, your heart skipping a beat when she looks back and flashes a rare, amused smile. It's not just her looksâit's the way she moves, the air of mystery she carries, like she's seen things you could only imagine. It makes you nervous, but at the same time, you can't help but look forward to those fleeting moments when your paths cross.
One morning, your shower decides to betray youâyour hot water cuts out just as you put your head under. You let out a bloodcurdling scream, quickly trying to jump out of the shower. Unfortunately for you, your foot slips on the hard floor, and you come crashing down, hitting your head on the sink, landing with a very loud thud. Dazed and confused, you are unsure if you passed out for a second there or not, but either way your head is killing you.Â
"Fucking brilliant," you mutter to yourself, draping an arm across your eyes to shield them from the light.
At that moment, you heard your front door slamming open and hurried footsteps searching your apartment. You had just about enough sense to yank your towel off the hook and cover up your naked body.
"Y/N?" called a voice just outside the bathroom door.
Shit. It was Rio. You wished the ground would just swallow you up.
"Are you okay? I heard you scream, and then I heard something shatter." You could hear the genuine concern in her voice.
Lifting your head slightly, you noticed the shards of glass from what used to be your bathroom shelf, surrounding you. All you could do was let out a groan and close your eyes at this new development of what was turning out to be the worst morning of your life so far.
This was a bad choice, as a split second later, Rio barged into your bathroom.
"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" Your neighbour teased, but you could hear the relief in her voice. She moved further into the room, assessing the damage. "Not to ruin such a perfect morning for you, but I might have broken your door getting in here."Â
You open your eyes, blinking up at her. Taking her in, you noticed she was wearing a cropped baggy tank top and gym shorts. You blink up at her again, and your head throbs with each beat of your pulse, the pain radiating down your neck. You're still dazed, trying to process how you ended up sprawled on the cold bathroom floor with your FBI agent neighbour standing over you. Rio's sharp eyes take in your silence, concern clouding the playful smirk she'd worn just moments before.
"Hey," she says, voice softer now, as she crouches down beside you. She reaches out, fingertips gently brushing your cheek to turn your face towards her. "Y/N, can you hear me? Do you know who I am?"
You swallow, trying to focus. Her touch is surprisingly tender, a stark contrast to her usual no-nonsense demeanour. You nod slightly, the movement making your head spin. "Rio," you manage to croak out. "Neighbour, FBI agent. And, apparently, a door kicker."
She huffs a laugh, a brief flicker of relief crossing her face. "Good. That's a start. I don't usually make a habit of barging into people's bathrooms uninvited, but I heard that scream, and... well, I'm glad I did." Her eyes drop down to your arm, where blood seeps from a jagged cut. She curses under her breath, her grip on your shoulder tightening just slightly. "You're bleeding. We need to get you cleaned up."
You glance down at your arm, wincing at the sight of blood trickling down to your hand. "I really know how to make an impression, huh?"
Rio shakes her head, lips pressed together in a tight line. "Let's save the jokes until you're not covered in glass, yeah?" Without another word, she slips an arm under your shoulders, helping you sit up. The world tilts slightly, but her hold on you is firm, steadying you as you get your bearings.
"You're going to have to trust me for a minute," she tells you softly. "Can you stand?"
"Maybe," you say, though you're not entirely sure. She helps you up, careful not to jostle your injured arm, and you try to ignore the heat of her skin against yours, the way her fingers dig into your side just enough to ground you.
Rio's eyes dart around the room, quickly assessing the mess of broken glass and water pooling on the floor. "Alright," she says decisively. "I'm taking you back to my place. We'll patch you up there. Your shower is out of commission, and I don't trust that you won't take another tumble if I leave you alone here."
You don't have the energy to argue, so you just nod, letting her guide you out of the bathroom. The two of you make it to the hallway, but not before she grabs a spare towel and wraps it around you more securely. Her movements are quick and efficient, but there's a gentleness to them that surprises you. It's a side of Rio you've never seen beforeâone that's patient and caring, not just the tough, sarcastic woman you've exchanged pleasantries with in passing.
As you step into her apartment, you notice it's much more personal than you'd imagined. There are framed photos on the wallsânothing too sentimental, mostly candid shots of places she's travelled to, city skylines, and sunsets. Her living room is cosy, with a worn leather couch and a small stack of books piled on the coffee table.
"Sit," she instructs, pointing to the couch. You sink down into it, feeling strangely out of place but oddly comfortable. Rio disappears into the bathroom for a moment, returning with a first aid kit. She kneels in front of you, carefully prying your hand away from your arm.
"This is going to sting," she warns, pulling out an antiseptic wipe. You flinch as she cleans the cut, her brows knitting together in concentration. "Sorry," she mutters. "I'm used to dealing with criminals and suspects, not clumsy neighbours."
"Criminals don't trip in the shower much?" you quip, trying for humour despite the pain. It earns you a small smile from Rio, her eyes flicking up to meet yours.
"Not usually, no. Though I'll admit you're far more entertaining." Her voice softens again, the smirk fading as she wraps a bandage around your arm. "You scared me for a second there, you know."
The confession catches you off guard. "I did? you ask, watching her face as she finishes tying off the bandage.
She doesn't look up, her focus still on your arm. "Yeah," she says quietly. "I thought something bad had happened. Guess I care more about my neighbour than I realised."
Your heart skips a beat, the words hanging in the air between you. It's the first real admission of anything beyond casual friendliness, and it leaves you breathless. You're about to say somethingâanythingâbut Rio stands up, offering her hand to you.
"Come on," she says. "Let's get you some proper clothes and maybe a coffee. You can stay here until we sort out your door and shower."
Rio's grip on your hand is firm as she helps you up, her expression still hovering somewhere between concern and her usual, dry amusement. You follow her into the kitchen, and she releases you, motioning for you to sit at the table. It feels strange being here, in her space, especially after the chaos of your morning. She pulls out a chair for you with a slight roll of her eyes, as if it's absurd that you'd even try to resist her instruction.
"I don't have any shifts for the next two days," she announces, moving towards the coffee maker without glancing back at you. "And considering you might've blacked out for a second back there, I'm not letting you out of my sight. So, you're staying with me, here, until you're back on your feet properly."
You open your mouth to argue, but the look she throws over her shoulder silences you. It's one part worry and two parts something elseâsomething softer, almost protective.
"I can manage," you say, but your voice lacks conviction, especially as you rub your throbbing arm. The bandage is already starting to bleed through a bit. Rio's eyes narrow at the sight, and she steps closer, prodding your arm gently.
"Yeah, you're doing a great job," she says dryly, then nods to herself. "You're staying here."
"Fine," you sigh, though part of you feels a flutter of somethingârelief, maybe, or the thrill of being looked after by someone like Rio. "But I can sleep on the couch. I don't want to kick you out of your bed."
Rio's lips twitch into a smirk. "I'm not letting you take the couch. You've already proven that you're a danger to yourself in any situation that involves standing up."
You can't help but laugh, despite everything. "So, what, we share your bed?"
She raises an eyebrow, as if daring you to challenge her. "It's a queen size. I think we can manage. Unless you've suddenly developed a fear of co-sleeping?"
The thought of sharing a bed with her sends a rush of heat through you, but you try to play it off with a shrug. "As long as you don't hog the covers."
"I'll do my best," she says, the smirk widening.
-
The first night is awkward, as expected. You lie stiffly on one side of the bed, while Rio takes the other, the space between you feeling like a chasm despite the closeness. She's warm though, and you can feel the heat radiating from her body and the subtle scent of her shampoo filling your senses. It's both comforting and maddening, making it hard to fall asleep. Your hyper-aware of every shift she makes, every time her arm brushes against yours. At some point, she turns onto her side, facing you, and you feel her eyes on you in the dark.
"You still awake?" she whispers.
"Yeah," you reply, swallowing hard.
There's a pause, then you feel her hand brush against yours. It's light, almost as if by accident, but when you don't pull away, she leaves it there, her fingers barely touching yours.
"Try to get some sleep," she murmurs. "You need to rest."
"Alright," you say, voice hoarse, and somehow, with her so close, you finally drift off.
Over the next day and a half, the tension between you shifts, It's subtle at firstâsmall, lingering glances from Rio that last a bit too long, the brush of her fingers against your back when she helps you into the kitchen. Her sarcasm returns, but there's a flirtatious edge to it now, like she's testing the waters.
"You're really milking this injury, aren't you?" She teases, handing you your drink to have with the pizza she bought for dinner. "You'd think you broke your entire body, the way you're lounging around."
"Hey," you protest, setting the drink down. "You're the one who insisted I stay. Don't blame me for enjoying the hospitality."
She leans against the counter, arms crossed, a grin tugging at her lips. "Oh, I'm well aware. But don't get too comfortable with me waiting on you hand and footâI've got to go back to work tomorrow.
-
That night, the atmosphere between you shifts even more. When you climb into bed besides Rio, there's no hesitation this time. She turns towards you almost immediately, her hand resting lightly on your hip as if it's the most natural thing in the world. You can feel the heat of her body through the thin fabric of your shirt, her breath warm against the back of your neck. It's a small touch, nothing too bold, but it feels significantâan unspoken acknowledgement of everything simmering between you two. You fall asleep like that, closer than before, your fingers unconsciously brushing hers under the covers.
When you wake up, she's already dressed for the day, leaning over you with a mug of coffee in hand. She sets it down on the nightstand with a playful smile. "Morning sweetheart," she says, her voice laced with that familiar teasing tone, but there's a softness to it now. "Try not to do anything risky while I'm gone, yeah? I don't want to come back to find you've taken a tumble without me here to save the day."
You laugh, reaching for the coffee, but there's a flutter in your chest at the pet name, even if she means it jokingly. "I'll do my best," you say. "But no promises."
She smirks, leaning down just enough to press a light kiss to your forehead. "Good. I'll be back later. Make yourself at home."
You do. The rest of the day passes in a strangely pleasant haze, and you find yourself enjoying the small comforts of her apartment. It's quiet without her, but there's a sense of ease you haven't felt in a long time, like you truly belong here. You find yourself smiling for no reason, touching the small trinkets on her shelves, running your fingers over the soft throw blankets she has draped across the couch.
By the time you decide to take a shower, you're feeling entirely too content. You strip down, stepping under the hot spray with a sigh. That's when your thoughts drift back to Rioâhow she looked last night, half-asleep and tousled, her arm draped over your waist, her expression unguarded in a way you'd never seen before.
Your thoughts turn to fantasy almost unbidden. You imagine her joining you in the shower, pressing you back against the cold tiles, her hands sliding down your wet skin. You can almost feel itâthe heat of her breath on your neck, the firmness of her body against yours. You start to move your hand towards your aching clit, letting out a quiet, shuddering moan, lost in the fantasy of what it would be like to kiss her and have her hands on you.
You don't hear the bathroom door open, but suddenly, you hear her voiceâlow and amused. "You sure you're okay in here? Didn't have another fall, did you?"
You freeze, eyes snapping open. You can barely see her through the steam, but she's there, standing just outside the shower curtain, and you realise with a jolt that she must have heard you. You heart slams against your ribs as the curtain slides back just a little, and Rio steps inside completely naked, her smirk evident even through the haze.
"I really just can't trust you not to injure yourself while showering, can I?" she says, voice teasing but thick with something elseâdesire, maybe. Her eyes travel down your body, lingering in a way that sends a shiver through you.
"Rio," you breathe out, half a warning, half a plea.
She steps closer, crowding you against the wall, her hand sliding up to cup the back of your neck. "You know," she murmurs, her lips so close to yours now that you can feel the brush of them with every word. "I think you've been waiting for me to do this."
And then she kisses you, slow and heated, like she's been thinking about this just as much as you have. Her mouth is soft but insistent, coaxing a response from you until you melt into her, hands tangling in her hair as you kiss her back just as eagerly. The steam from the shower mixes with the heat between you, the world narrowing down to just the two of you.
When she finally pulls back, both of you are breathing hard, her forehead resting against yours. "I knew it," she whispers, her voice laced with satisfaction. "You've been wanting this so badly, haven't you?"
You nod, swallowing thickly. "Yeah," you admit, barely louder than a whisper. "I have."
She grins, tugging you closer until you're pressed against her, chest to chest. "Good," she says, leaning in to kiss you again, deeper this time. "Because I've been wanting it too."
And with that, she shoves you against the wall. Hard. She's kissing you all over, igniting the skin where each one lands. She nips and sucks at your neck, finding where you're most sensitive. A moan escapes your lips, and you buck your hips, trying to get any kind of friction against your core. For a brief moment, you start to get embarrassed, but then one of Rio's hands finds its way between your legs. She dips a finger between your lips and hums at how wet you already are for her.
Looking directly into your eyes, silently telling you to keep her gaze, she lowers herself to suck on one of your tits, tongue swirling around your nipple, making it harden quickly. The hand not on your clit, starts to pinch your other nipple, pulling another loud guttural moan from you.Â
Working her mouth down your torso, marking up your body as she goes, Rio sinks to her knees, her face now directly opposite your dripping cunt, eyes still locked on yours.
Her hands deftly grip your hips, steadying you against the wall. "You've got to promise me you're not going to fall again, sweetheart," she all but growls, the arousal evident in her voice.
You nod your head, but it wasn't enough for the woman, who digs her nails into your skin where she's holding you. "Ye-Yes. I promise."
That was all Rio needs before she starts to drag her tongue through your folds. Switching between broad licks along the length between your entrance and your clit, and firmer, more purposeful circles over your bundle of nerves.
You feel dizzy, but you know it has nothing to do with your concussion and everything to do with the woman kneeling between your legs. Despite your head spinning, you manage to bring your hands down to tangle in Rio's hair, pushing her harder into you. You need more.
She moans against you, clearly enjoying how turned on you are. The vibration from the moan goes straight to your core, and you nearly cum just from that. Sensing you're close, Rio pushes two fingers inside you, causing you to curse her name inbetween moans.
You feel her chuckle and then start fucking you more vigorously. "I want to hear you, baby. I want the whole floor to hear you moan my name," she says, momentarily pulling away from your pussy. You can't help but oblige as she starts to curl her fingers, resuming her licking and sucking.
With her fingers curling inside you like that, it isn't long before you climax, legs shaking, coming hard over her fingers and tongue. Rio helps you through the end of your orgasm, making sure to hold you up as you come back down.Â
"Okay, darling, I think we need to sit you down before you lose another fight with gravity," Rio smirks. You can't help but agree; your knees feel very weak and it's taking all of your concentration to stay upright.
"Oh, by the way, I bumped into the maintenance guys on my way in," Rio says lightly, helping you out of the shower. "And they said that your door isn't getting fixed for at least another week. So, it looks like you'll have me to help you shower for a little while longer." Winking, she drags you to her bed, determined to continue what she had just started

just imagining that the thought Vi has with how Jinx treats the reader (season 2 bc they think powder is really gone) makes her think that powder is still in there somewhere. Random thought while writing this, what if like how people say âif something bad keeps happening there will be good eventuallyâ so I like to think that Jinx has the reader who for some reason is never killed or anything. Just Jinxâs one good thing. Lol
Idk if this is a request but it inspired me
If ya want listen to Wildflower by Billie Eilish for this cause it also inspired me
Wildflower
During season 2, Vi felt all hope for Powder still being in there fading away
She loved her sister more than anything and she wanted nothing more than to get back to hurt during her time in prison
But when she got out and saw what her sister has become, what she helped her sister become, it aches deeply in her heart
To see her sister root herself so deeply as Jinx, the way her mental state has depleted so much, and how much her sister has changed hurts
Itâs so hard that after episode 9 where Jinx blows up the council, Vi finds herself giving up entirely
She forced herself to accept that Powder is gone and all there is now, is Jinx
She denies her sister being there cause if Powder was still in there, why would she show herself to her big sister?
Why would she hide herself from Vi?
Vi only knows Powder is in there when Jinx is with you
She sees Powder in the way Jinx holds your hand
Vi sees Powder with the way Jinx runs to find you, how sheâs always looking for you in a fight or how sheâs always having your back
Be it you met in childhood or after she was taken in by Silco, Jinx and you were stuck together like glue
Vi could tell Powder was still in there with the grin Jinx gave you when you smiled at her, the grin reserved for you when you entertained her sister and asked her questions about her gadgets and weapons
She sees Powder in the small pour in Jinxâs lip when you reprimand her softly, scolding her out of care
The way Jinx cradles your hand, the fear in her eyes when she thinks you have gotten hurt
She hears Powder as well in the giggles you manage to pull out of Jinx
In the way her sister shields you from harm, the way her hand is always seekin yours or how youâre never far from Jinx
In the way Jinx protects you and never leaves your side
She sees glimpses of Powder day in and day out whenever she sees the girl
But itâs never because of her, because of Vi, Jinxâs sister
No, Powder only shines through when she was with you
Powder came out when it was safe, and Vi knew that
Powder found a home with you and in your heart, and Jinx accepted that and accepted that part of herself when she was with you
And Vi hated it
She hated how hard her heart aches when she sees her sister so willingly herself when with you
Not her
And she knows why, she knows how you held Powder and Jinx in the palm if your hand
How you loved the both of them, how youâd take both parts of Jinx and cherish them all the same
Powder or Jinx, you loved her
Hates how Powder melts away and hides the moment she makes eye contact with Vi, the grin of her sister and wiping and storing itself away to wherever she stores what was only meant for you
She looks so happy and alike to the girl she knew
Only. With. You.

The enormity of my desire (disgusts me),
Very very early seasons (1 â start of 2) Spencer Reid x afab!BAU!reader
SMUT!! (and fluff, some angst in relation to Spencerâs past because it can never be too happy, weâre not allowed nice things here). first times & explorations of intimacy.
ââââ autistic spencer (itâs a central theme to the plot), reader is actually morally good (for once).
Warnings: sub spencer (what did u even expect?), heavy corruption kink, first time for Spencer (all i do is sit around and think about how iâd like to devirgin that genius), HEAAVY praise kink, very very inexperienced Spencer, slight? oral fixation, theyâre both just rlly down bad (i told u i would write something light, i delivered), Reader is whipped, Spencer is sooo much worse. Biblical references, Religious imagery, i think i talk about math equations???? And random metaphors/complexes.
w.c: 4k
a/n: i rlly wanted to explore aspects of spencer that criminal minds swept under the rug (cough cough his undiagnosed autism, cough cough his social exclusion, cough cough his crippling fear of forever being alone). Next upload will prob be heavy angst/no smut post-prison spencer (god help me please, i must be a masochist for the way i make myself suffer)
âââââââââââââââ
Thereâs a lot Spencer hasnât done.
He knows heâs behind, that he never quite caught up when it came to the taboo of sex and intimacy. Everything, everything, heâs ever had has been centred around exclusion, alienation, he feels like heâs lived on pause. Frozen, never advancing, stuck on âgoâ. Touch isnât easy for him, interpersonal relationships are worse. Heâs different, god heâs heard that his entire life. âYouâre not weird, youâre just⊠differentâ, but maybe he is weird. Maybe his whole existence is just one big cosmic fuck you, because heâs missed out on so much, so much that he canât understand, comprehend, act out against. Falling behind; this is the only area of life where he continuously comes up short, inexperienced, naive, heâs not used to being incompetent.
Heâs never experienced want the way others do. He could never just hook up, fall into the body of another, expose them to the vulnerable elements of his stature. Open himself up to scrutiny. He might be a genius, he might be intellectually advanced, accepted into a multitude of ivy leagues before he was old enough to vote, but thereâs drawbacks to his success. Social awkwardness, an inability to blend, mould, be one of the crowd. Sometimes he wishes he was average, something grey and mundane, so far reduced from the person he is nowâ it would all be plainly simple.
But heâs not, heâs not. So, this is the weight he has to bare for the brain he never asked for.
Pyrrhic victory, heâll always be renowned for his intelligence. âYouâre going to change the world kid,â maybe, but simultaneously, heâll never get to experience said world. Thereâs a chance heâll always be on the outside, watching normal people gravitate towards each other. Live dreary lives of domesticated simplicity. Stacked bills, arguments over money and parenting techniques. Going to bed angry, only to turn around, mid-night, and resolve it, to not sleep on bad blood. To take them off the couch, to settle into predestined sides of the mattress.
Thereâs not enough possessions in the world heâd sacrifice just to experience love.
Hedgehog dilemma, the challenges of human intimacy. The hedgehogs want to move closer, to preserve heat during cold. But, they are forced, biologically cursed to remain apart, in order to prevent themselves from harming each other. Spencer doesnât want to be hurt, to hurt, itâs a morbid byproduct of his upbringing; all he ever endured was mockery.
He thought heâd never get to experience the physical, carnal aspects of existence. And sure, he made peace with the notion, accepted the consequences of being born atypical. Learnt to live without.
But then, oh then there was you. Pretty, intellectual you who quite literally tipped his world on itâs axis. Upheaved the most stable of routines. New to the BAU, he wanted you to last. To stay around, endure the worst of the job. If only for his selfish benefit of orbiting in your presence.
He remembers how it all started: Detroit, another case, more budget cuts, forced proximity that sent you spiralling into a shared bed for the night.
âYouâre my favourite person in the team.â you admitted, âAnd I know thatâs dumb, because weâve spoken the least, but⊠youâre just, so you. Thatâs a good thing by the way, a really really good thing.â
He couldnât quite believe you were talking about him. Spencer, who spilt coffee, and slipped into ceaseless tangents about obscure information. Spencer, who walked into walls when you were around, stumbling over his sentences before deftly, very astutely, giving up, walking away mid-conversation. He wore sweater-vests and colourful mismatched socks, itâs not like he was going to be crowned âwhite boy of the monthâ.
âNot dumb.â Spencer had responded, shifting closer to tangle further into the warm mess of this accidental situation. âThatâs good. I like being me.â he mumbled. âSometimesâŠ. sometimes it sucks. But thatâs okay. I think itâs okay?â
He moved to press his face into the crook of your neck, but you were faster, gathering him by tousled hair, forcing him to look you in the eye.
Oh.
âPlease. Please.â he whispered, breaking apart, fracturing, âPlease like me. And more than in a weird, âjust friends or coworkersâ way.â
You did. You do. He shouldâve kissed you then, but maybe he was scared, maybe he couldnât quite discern his feelings, separate the logic from the emotional. So he waited, waited, waited until now. Your third date, you take him to an exhibition within a science centre: replica models of the solar system, filling rooms up, papier-mĂąchĂ© sculptures illuminated by light.
Best date ever. You listen, even when heâs rambling about planets, when heâs pointing out that yes, Jupiterâs density is less than water. That, technically, it would float in a bathtub, if one was built to accommodate its size. You donât care that heâs not exactly the staple-piece for conventionally attractive males. That heâs nerdish, and awkward, and so so inexperienced when it comes to this.
In his apartment, later, much later, he looks at you, looks at you like youâre the one who just solved the fucking Riemann hypothesis.
âWhat do you want the most? Like,⊠if you could ask for one thing.â you say, and god, Spencer loves when you pose these deep, hypothetical questions. When you make him think, because you, you are the biggest challenge to his intellect yet.
You. He wants to say. But he settles for âBeing remembered,â instead. He works to untangle layers of fabric, your scarf, your jacket, letting out an exasperated laugh when he meets your amused gaze. âRight now though? I think Iâd settle for kissing you.â
You cup his jaw, tracing your fingers along the sharp curve, and god he has perfect anatomy. âSettle huh? You should be more appreciative.â
He leans forward to press a chaste kiss against your lips. Drawing away for a moment, just to return because heâs never had this before. Because for the first time in his life, he gets it. He gets physical attraction, even if it took time. Heâs kissed, been kissed, yes. But he could count those moments on one hand, and if you asked how many he truly enjoyed, heâd be left with no fingers raised.
âBelieve me, iâm very appreciativeâŠâ
This isnât like before, what he felt in the past; he expected something monotone, flighty, a brief fleeting moment of satisfaction. Means to an end. No, itâs actually the best thing heâs ever experienced, and heâs going to become so insufferable after this, because heâs just found out he is very very into kissing.
Correction: heâs very into kissing you.
In the moment between parting, and touching again, he assumes you to be divinity personified. Spencer has never been religious, but something of this magnitude should be canonised. He wants to ask you. Ask you when you became this beautiful. When you became the person he needs to kiss a second time, kiss a third time, kiss until his lips go numb.
A shaky inhale, a pause. âI hope⊠I hope that it was okay - I mean, it was good for me. Really, really good. Umââ to be honest, heâs just glad he didnât say thankyou.
âYeah, Spence. That was⊠wow.â you draw your bottom lip between teeth, press into tissued flesh. Jesus Christ. âWanna try again?â
Yes yes yes yes. He looks at you, pupils blown obscenely out of proportion. Part of him wants to say, âwhy didnât we do this sooner?â But thatâs not fair; heâs only ready now. Now that he feels, now that he might be a little in love with you.
âPlease,â is his answer, and then heâs catching your face in the palms of his hand, tugging your lips back to his, because admittedly, they have ached in the long, extensive period you were apart (53 seconds).
This time it deepens and Spencer sees stars. Itâs an astronomical phenomenon, something interstellarâ and god, heâs relating kissing to space. They should just tape the word âvirginâ to his back and call it a day.
Thereâs soft little breathy sighs escaping his mouth now, bleeding into yours. And yeah, spontaneous combustion might be a real threat. Actually no, it would hardly be spontaneous; thereâs a clear, clear cause, and it just so happens to be your ruinous lips.
This is an entirely new facet of the human experience. The kiss is electric; heâs always been partial toward physics, and right now his veins carry an alternating current.
You know, he could probably write a thesis based on this.
You both stumble back back back until heâs hitting a wall, and yes, thankyou. Heâs making all sorts of sounds he canât justify, and itâs a supernova, an infinite black pool ofâ oh, he thinks he might die, ascend, transcend, when you press your thumb against his chin, hold your lips at just a little slant from his. Force him to wait there.
âPlease,â heâs never been above begging. A worthy sacrifice, one heâll certainly repeat again because you return to the kiss, and the world around him dissolves.
Youâve got one hand tangled in his hair. Tousled auburn, fingers sinking into strands, pushing all the way down to the root. The other is still cupping his face, keeping him close, keeping him selfishly close actually.
âSpence,â you murmur. And yes. Yes. He likes that. The way his name sounds rolling off your tongue, like it was destined to be there. Like he was destined to be yours.
His world is ending. So is yours. Fuck it, he presses himself against your thigh, and ohmygodohmygod. Heâs being loud, heâs actually being so criminally loud right now because apparently heâs the most whorish virgin to ever exist.
âI lied, I lied,â he admits between messy kisses, âWhen you asked what I wanted the most? Itâs not to be remembered, well it is, its on the list. Butââ he groans, kisses you again because talking interrupts matters that are more important. Like your lips.
âI wanna cum.â
Eloquent.
Spencer Reid being dirty? Oh, itâs hot, itâs so hot to reduce someone to such an obscene state. To reduce him, the boyish fumbling nerd (who just so happens to be the most beautiful person in existence) to such a degrading mess.
Still, thereâs shock. Not because he said it (you greatly appreciate the indecent things falling from those pretty lips right now), but becauseâ
âYouâve never? Havenât even experienced it once? By yourself?â
He should be embarrassed, but his lips are red, his eyes are glassy, and the bulge in his pants is straining to be touched. âNever,â he sighs shakilly. âNever, and iâmâ iâm starting to understand why itâs so popular.â
He whimpers, pushes himself against your thigh, because the friction, yes. âIs that weird? Please donât think iâm weird. Because Iâm really, really weird. Just maybe⊠not in that way?â
Itâs never been enough. His body sometimes feels numb to the touch, and yet still so very overstimulated. Like he manually blocks himself from feeling, already prepared for the flinch. How does he explain that life hasnât been kind to him? That he hates his body because of what people made it out to be when he was a child. Stripping him naked, tying him to a goalpost, always the underdog. The one to be targeted, tormented.
âItâs actually kinda hot,â you interrupt his thoughts, and just because youâre evil, corrupt, the worst, you press your thigh harder against his clothed cock, palm covering his mouth when a plethora of whiny sounds escape his mouth.
Itâs performative, really. Alone in his apartment, thereâs no need for noise control. So when your thumb slips between parted, swollen lips, he knows to suck. The average human hand has between 10,000 and 10 million bacteria, and Spencer does not actually give a fuck anymore.
âTo think that youâve never even felt what itâs like. That youâre gonna feel it with me for the first time. I get to see that shitâ god, youâre going to look so fucking pretty for me.â
You draw your thumb out of his mouth, and he has the audacity to whine.
Heâs never wanted anything more in his entire life. Itâs all tertiary now. Only this matters.
âPlease donât praise meââ he protests, âIâll probably finish in my pants.â
âPraise kink, noted.â
You laugh, and he can only groan, curse existence for being this cruel to his overworked, undervalued body. âDonâtâ donât laugh. Youâre not supposed to laugh, that can heighten performance anxiety. Increase insecurity, andâŠâ he sighs, âYou do not care. Sadistic tendencies, noted.â
âShut up. Wanna see you.â you say, and heâs just muttering breathless mhmâs, too delirious to function; his body is betraying the last iota of self-control like the little whore it apparently is.
His sweater comes off first, then his top. Discarded fabric, his raised arms when you mutter a candid âupâ, giving way to exposed skin. In response? Your pupils dilate. Spencer knows because heâs analysing, profiling. If you hate him like this, heâs fairly certain heâll drag himself into a self-dug early grave. He wishes he was being melodramatic. That your approval didnât have such a substantial impact on his carefully-constructed ego. But, oh, it does. It does.
Thin, with a long, defined torso, he blushes, rose blemished skin, when your hands drag across his stomach. Heâd love to say he reacts sanely, suavely. Urbane to your touch. But that would be a total, discreditable lie. Instead, his back arches, seeking contact, following the path of your fingertips with pitiful desperation. He feels malleable, willing to bend and contort, if only to feel more.
âHow can you not think youâre pretty, Spence?â His pants are gone next, then his stained boxers, fabric borderline sheer now, soaked through with pre-cum.
Spencer feels betrayed. His body never responds, not to his own hands, not to his own thoughts. And yet, the moment youâre on him, heâs a live-wire. Itâs sick, heinous, double-crossing. Maybe itâs purposeful, done just to spite him. Figures.
âHoly shit, look at you. Look at how perfect you are.â Spencer wants to object, because he distinctly told you not to praise him. However,.. right now, the lights are on but nobody is home. Brain-death, heâs certainly in a vegetative state.
âOhmygodohmygod,â he whimpers, because no amount of knowledge about human anatomy and physiology could prepare him for how he feels under your touch. No amount of education in the psychology of relationships could inform him of how viscerally wrong the way you look at him feels.
Because itâs not wrong, not all. Itâs the most right heâs ever felt, and heâll tell you that if youâll just keep it up.
The sounds heâs making are phonographic, lewd, youâve given up on trying to stifle them now. Where have you been hiding? Your eyes fall, and he wants to blush away from the exhibiting gaze, but heâs justâŠ. too far gone; the thought of your touch outweighs any previous reticence. Then, oh then, you drop to your knees, and shit. He expected your thigh, maybe your hand if he was lucky, notâ
This. Your mouth, your tongue, your pretty lips; god, god, is this a sin? Because if it is, heâll take it.
âPlease,â he whines, and he canât look anymore because the sight alone is going to send him over the edge. Heâs gripping the wall, scrambling scrambling for purchase, because heâs trying not to grip you, but how exactly does he keep this respectful?
Heâs pretty sure theyâre past that, considering your mouth is currently wrapped around his cock, and heâs debauched.
You want this, you want him, he feels like heâs transcended humanity, like heâs become someone, anyone and anything, that deserves the way youâre taking him apart, piece by piece. In the aftermath, he hopes you donât leave a single ounce of him intact.
âWanna kiss you. Ohâ oh oh,â heâs sobbing now, âCome back here. Miss your mouthâ even if itâs,â he looks down and thatâs a mistake. âPlease.â
Of course it would be Spencer to disrupt the best (and admittedly only) head of his life because he needs you closer.
You oblige, raising from your knees, and Spencer thinks it might be sacrilegious. But then again, he feels religion in your touch so it canât be too profane. Maybe? Heâs not sure, heâs not sure and it doesnât matter. Ethics and morality have long since disintegrated, sins are engrained into humankind. He almost wants to thank Eve for tearing into the apple, because itâs allowed this irreverence to occur.
Spencer blindly follows you through the apartment, stumbling and muttering until he can collapse against the bed. Baring his pretty neck as his head hits the bedframe. Tangled in sheets, draped over his lap, his deft fingers run across your waist, mapping out the structure of your frame. If only to remember, recite this act of blasphemy.
âSpence,â you whisper, and then his lips are crashing into yours, stealing breath, stealing sanity. He whimpers, murmurs a protest when you draw back, and you can only laugh. âLets get you off, yeah? You wanna feel an orgasm, pretty boy?â
âYes, yes please. That would uhâ yes.â heâs not even sure how heâs conscious right now. His body, god his body, has endured more pleasure in the last hour than it has for the majority of his life. Your hands scathe, and Spencer is willing to indefinitely burn, if just to feel them one more time.
You only stop to take off your clothes, and surely there needs to be prep? To reaffirm, he knows anatomy, the correct procedure, how the transgression is supposed to occur. And yet, thatâs from a clinical, objective mindset. Do this, do that, etc etc. Nothing works out like that in practice.
Youâre so wet, panties stained through, he spares a moment to run his fingers across your thighs, hand slipping beneath fabric to graze your clit. The moan that follows has him distracted, thumb tracing circlets, over and over until youâre pulling back to return the balance. The balance, which admittedly is skewed, tipped scales, youâre on top. He falls to the weight of your influence.
And yeah, heâs more than fine with that. Jesus, you drag your panties down, down your thighs, your legs, then theyâre reaching your ankles, pooling there for a moment before theyâre being discarded, tossed somewhere on his floor â leaving behind a souvenir that yes, yes this happened.
âI canât,â he says, burying his face into your shoulder when you take him. Itâs slow, sinking onto his cock like every inch of warmth will destroy him. Maybe it will. Maybe he doesnât care, because he deserves this. He deserves to feel after so much repression.
Or maybe, maybe heâs just become the biggest slut known to mankind. Likely.
Your body presses against his, and he thinks heâs going to disintegrate, because he feels so good. He understands now, he understands why people do this. Why itâs integral to the function of most. This is the best day of his life. This. Is. The. Best. Day. Of. His. Life.
Thereâs this noise, this pathetically loud whimper when you start to roll your hipsâ and oh your body is wet against him, and youâre so tight, and itâs perfect because he doesnât have to do anything.
He can just sit here, look pretty, and cry.
He knows heâs a giver, that heâd bleed himself dry for you. Itâs a curse, he supposes: so willing to bend backwards for the satisfaction of the people he trusts. But, this is foreign, and he wants to watch you, aimlessly stare, dumb and empty-headed as you wield his body like a weapon. Turn him into something perniciously yours.
Spencer has no reference for what an orgasm is supposed to feel like, and yeah, heâs really good at guessing in these type of situations. Because heâs rolling his thumb over your clit again, and he wants to draw it into his mouth, to see you laid out across bedsheets, writhing, unable to do anything but suffocate him with your thighs.
You clench around him, back arched, releasing a series of strained moans. With one hand tangled in his dishevelled hair, the other pressed against his chest, your face contorts, your body stiffens. Thereâs no way his incessant whimpering just got you off?
Okay. So you like him desperate. Point taken.
âPleaseâ please, wanna cum. Wanna feel it so bad,â heâs slurring over his words, sentences punctured by devastating whimpers. And look at him, asking for permission, waiting even though his body has been teetering on the edge for so long now.
âShh, shh..â you press your forehead against his, and he melts. Reoccurring theme. His hand grips your jaw, thumb pushed firmly against your chin, keeping you close. âYou wanna cum for me, baby? Gonna give me your first?â
âMhmâ mhmâŠâ is all he can say. When you pick up your pace, he has to burrow his face into the crook of your neck, whimpers messy and broken off, suppressed against your warm skin.
âOh. OhâŠâ he repeats, again. Like thereâs anything else he could utter, because this is earth-shattering.
Itâs the sun, and all eight planets combined, and the universe collapsing in on itself, and heâs bucking, squirming, releasing into you, spilling deep.
He sobs. Breaks down. Because itâs so so good, and he canât believe he ever deprived his body of this.
Neediest whore to ever exist, apparently.
It takes him a while to come back. Longer to regain motor function, to sink into present day. Life, and expectations, and everything, everything, your touch eradicated.
âJust⊠just stay like this?â he asks, collapsing against your body after heâs drawn out of you. Thereâs mess, evidence of your ministrations, but cleanliness seems futile when heâs blissed out, caught in a post-orgasmic haze that yes yes yes he needed so badly.
You card your hands through his hair, watch the way he stares up at you, large, widened eyes, chin resting against your chest. âHi,â he mutters dumbly.
âSpence,â Spence, Spence, Spence. He could drown himself in that nickname.
âYeah?â he breathes out.
âYou weâre so goodââ
He rolls away from you, finding a home for his face in the pillow. âStop. Stop.â he groans, âDonât do that. Youâre going to destroy me. Iâm not⊠equipped for this, for you. Someone should just sedate me, put me out of my misery, a coma sounds likeââ
He tilts his head to the side, relinquishing, âOkay. Sorry. Meltdown over. Can we shower? Then maybe do this again? Which will make the shower inconsequential, I suppose. Thereâs a new documentary I want to watch, and oh, you still havenât seen the third Star Warsââ
Heâs happy, content, over the fucking moon, to be silenced with your lips. âYeah,â he murmurs, hand interlocking with yours as you both fall back against the mattress, âLetâs do this again.â

It's a Love Story - Chapter 6
Summary:
Azriel's shadows find their master a wife.
Azriel would just really like his heart not to get broken again.
And Sky...well, she's just really surprised that that far too handsome male is interested in her at all.
Warning:
DEFINETLY NSFW! Rhys Bashing (as usual), I classified this as Azriel x OC, even when it't technically Azriel x Sellyn Drake (but we kinda know nothing about Sellyn Drake other than that she writes books so Sky is kinda an OC), Cassian is kinda a good guy for once, Azriel has a horrible time, as usual... Stuttering, toxic families (For once I do not mean the IC), Self-Esteem Issues, Secret Identity, Body Image Issues, Fat Shaming, People being utterly horrible.
If any of this triggers you or makes you uncomfortable, please take care of your own mental health and don't read it.
For somebody that filled her romance novels with plenty of smut⊠Sky wasnât exactly as experienced as one may expected.Â
ActuallyâŠshe was woefully inexperienced.
There had been AdmonâŠand Admon it had been.
The rest of the stuff in her booksâŠwell, that was just her fantasy wildly spinning stories about how sex should feel. Informed by plenty of books she had read, other authors, and of courseâŠthere were the two people that got to read every book she wrote before it was published: Orla, her publisher, and her friend Ressina, who was nice enough to take the pen to every thing she wrote that was woefully inaccurate.Â
Because nothing ever felt to her like she portrayed it in the books.
Maybe that was normal. Maybe it was because of course her books portrayed somethingâŠbetter than reality, an escape from it. But stillâŠsometimes Sky had just wonderedâŠ
As Azriel carried her towards the bedroom, Sky couldnât help but feel a flutter of nervousness in her stomach. It wasnât that she didnât want this, she did, more than anything. But the truth was, she wasâŠnervous.
She had written about this moment countless times, had described it in vivid detail in her novels. But now that it was actually happening, she feltâŠinsecure. What if it wasnât as good in real life as she made it out to be on paper? What if she did disappoint him?
(Sky knew that she had disappointed Admon numerous timesâŠthat she seemingly had never been enough for himâŠhad been so bad at it in fact that he had instead slept with her sisterâŠwhich was a whole other kettle of fish that she really didnât want ot think to close about right now.)
Sky tried to push those thoughts aside, to focus on the here and now.Â
Azriel was here with her, he wanted her just as much as she wanted him. She could feel it in the way he held her, the way he looked at her. And yet, that nagging feeling of doubt still lingered.
And then there was the fact while he had admitted to sending his shadows to search for her⊠Sky was still keeping a rather big secret.
âAzâŠAzrielâŠâ she said hesitantly. âThereâŠthere is one thing you should know about me.â
Azriel paused, setting Sky down on the bed gently before turning to look at her.Â
"Go on," he prompted her gently, taking her hand in his as he sat down next to her and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "You can tell me anything, Sky." She believed him. he wouldnât judge her. She was sure of that as well.Â
âYouâŠYou kâŠknow howâŠhow IâŠI write⊠roâŠromance no..novels?â Sky asked him, biting her lip.
Azriel nodded, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Yes, I do," he said, leaning in closer to her. "You told me.â
âIâŠI am Sellyn Drake,â she blurted out.
She had never outright admitted it to another person.Â
Ressina had been the one who had send off her first manuscript to be publishedâŠand Orla had met with herâŠthese were the two people in existence that knew that Skylar Alden was also Sellyn Drake. And Skylar had always been comfortable with keeping it that way.Â
There was no need to tell anybody else.Â
Which was why it worked so well, that Ressina was an artist and could paint the bookcovers for her. No need whatsoever to let anybody else see the hesitant first drafts until she was sure this was where she wanted to go. Just Ressina. Just one of her very few friends. If not her only.Â
Azriel stared at her, his eyes widening in surprise. "What?" he asked, completely taken aback. "You're...Sellyn Drake?" There was noâŠoutright disbelief in his voice, just shock.Â
*We know! We made Master read your books!* the shadows cooed. *Lady Death, The Priestess and The Shopkeeper love them too!*
She had no idea who any of these people were butâŠ
Azriel's eyes widened even further as the shadows spoke up. "You...you knew about this?" he asked them, turning towards the shadows in disbelief. "You knew. Thatâs why you gave me her books to read!â
This was just getting better and better.
Sky, who had been watching Azriel and the shadowsâ exchange with a mixture of nervousness and embarrassment, couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation.Â
âDoâŠDo they alwaysâŠâ she couldnât even put it into words.Â
Azriel sighed. âThey like to meddle,â he said darkly. âAnd this time they were particularly persistent.â He shot a reproachful look at the shadows, who cowered a little under his gaze. "I won't lie, they did manipulate me into reading your books. And when my shadows do something they are rather...convincing."
She swallowed.Â
âDidâŠdid youâŠliâŠlike them atâŠat least?â Sky asked hesitantly.Â
Azriel hesitated for a moment before answering.Â
"I...I did," he admitted earnestly. "Your writing...it's brilliant, Sky.â Her heart soared at his words. She treasured them, hoarding them away like a dragon. But he wasnât done. âThe characters, the emotions, the way you make the reader feel everything...it's incredible. I couldn't put them down."
Sky grinned at his words, feeling a swell of pride in her chest. "IâŠI'm glad you..you liâŠliked them," she said softly.
*Master especially liked theâŠ*
âShut. Up.â Azriel snapped, his ears reddening and Sky started laughing. She could just about imagine what the shadows wanted to tell her at that moment.Â
Azriel groaned, burying his face in his hands. "I'm going to kill them," he muttered under his breath.
"TheyâŠthey are juâŠjust tryâŠtrying to help you, aren't they?" she asked softly, squeezing his hand in hers. Only now she noticed the violent scars that marred them, the texture of raised and bumpy skinâŠbut she didnât care. Not one bit. Â
*Of course, we are,* the shadows said, like any other idea was simply blasphemous. *We gave Master the best information we could. So that Master would know what you like.*
Sky probably shouldn't find it as adorable as she did. But the lengths they had gone to...the way they had made Azriel read her books so that he would know what she liked...nobody in her life had ever gone to these lengths just to find out what she liked.
"I swear I am not a total creep," Azriel told her with a grimace.
Sky laughed, shaking her head in disbelief. "NoâŠno, no, you're not," she assured him, squeezing his, hands gently. "IâŠI acâŠactually think it's⊠quite⊠sweet. In a weird, sliâŠslightly invasive kind of way. But sweet nonetheless."
"I think you are the only female that could possible think that," Azriel muttered, glaring at the shadows that didn't seem apologetic in the slightest.
Sky grinned, leaning in closer to him. "Itâs⊠endearing,â she finally settled on. âMaybe even a litâŠlittle bit charming," she promised him earnestly.
Azriel looked at her incredulously, his expression softening a little. "You're not just saying that to make me feel better, are you?" he asked her.
Sky shook her head. "No. No, I'm not," she said, her voice unwavering. "IâŠI mean it, Azriel. It iss actually really sweet that you would go to⊠such lengths just to try to unâŠunderstand me better. And you adâŠadmitted to it. And not just after the mating bond was accepted but within hours of meeting me."Â
Azriel didn't keep it a secret, even when he could have, and she would have been none the wiser.Â
"I don't know what I ever did to deserve you. But I'm not going to question it," he whispered.Â
She swallowed. That's what she was thinking. The exact same words.Â
Sky pulled him down, letting his forehead rest against hers.
"I know that...that I am supposed to cook you something...but how disappointed would you be if I gave you one of those caramel bonbons in my purse to accept the bond instead?" she asked him softly, meeting his gaze.Â
His eyes widened and he stared at her in pure, undiluted wonder.Â
"I could not possible be dissappointed by whatever you offered me," Azriel whispered. "But...are you...are you sure?"
"I am being utterly selfish," she whispered. "Yes. I want you." She didn't care that people would have thoughts about it...that she was rushing into this.Â
They were probably right.Â
But Sky really didn't care. Sky only wanted him. Sky was ready to throw caution overboard and rush into this headfirst without a thought about the consequences, if that meant that she would get her mate.
"Then let's be selfish together," Azriel whispered.
With shaky hands she reached into her purse, finding one of the caramel bonbon she kept in there...unwrapped it out of the paper and then...then she offered it to him, lifting it to his lips.
Azriel looked at the bonbon, then at her, and for a moment she thought he would say something. But then his mouth opened and he took it from her hand... He chewed it, swallowing carefully, his gaze never wavering from hers. For a moment, they stayed suspended in that moment of tension, the only sound their breathing. And then, he leaned in, closing the distance between them, and kissed her as if she was the most precious thing in his entire world.
A Mating Frenzy had always been protrayed as animalistic in every book she read. So of course, Sky had written the exact same thing.
But it wasn't...not really.
Not for them.Â
And being with Azriel was also a far cry from being with Admon...mostly because then it had often been...embarrassing and painful.Â
Admon had always found something to criticise on her body...foreplay had been nonexistent, even when she had tried...and while he had been more than willing to use her mouth to find his own pleasure he had never returned that favour.
With Azriel it was different. Every touch, every caress, every kiss made her feel things she had never felt before. It was like her body was coming alive for the first time.
All her senses were heightened, every nerve in her body singing with pleasure, and Sky couldn't get enough of him. She wanted more. No, she needed more. As Azriel trailed kisses down her throat, she arched her back, pressing herself against him, her hands roaming over his body, exploring every inch of him that she could reach.
"Can I...Can I touch your wings?" she asked breathlessly, not wanting to...cross some unsaid line.
"Please," Azriel breathed out. "Yes, Sky, please." He lifted his wings, extending them out behind him, giving her free rein to touch and explore to her heart's content. As Sky's fingers brushed against the contours of his wings, Azriel let out a low, guttural moan, his wings twitching and shuddering at the sensation. They were massive and pitch black.
"They are beautiful," she whispered, running her hands over the silky black skin, feeling the warmth radiating from them.
He shuddered at her touch, his wings arching and trembling beneath her gentle caress. he leaned his forehead against hers as he gently tipped her back against the bed and she went willingly, wrapping her hands over the gleaming talons at the tip of his wings as she kissed him.
Azriel growled softly in response, his hands sliding up beneath her dress, opening the lacing in one fluid motion. As the dress fell open, revealing her body beneath, Azriel pulled back for a moment, looking down at her with dark, hungry eyes. "You are so beautiful," he breathed, his gaze roaming over her body.
She didn't even have the time to feel self-conscious, not when she was drowning in the waves of desire that shot across their bond from him. Not when her whole body seemingly trembled against his and she kissed him again, opening her mouth to his tongue.
He slipped open the dress and she opened her mouth, halfway ready to tell him how he could get the corset she wore off, but he already opened the lacing. "Why?" he asked her softly, as he saw the red indents left on her body, and she grimaced.
"Claire," she whispered.
She wore corsets usually for support, because her breast could get heavy and painful without the proper support...but she never laced them as tightly as she did when she saw her family. Or her sister. Then she pulled them tight, trying to squash her body to be somethingâŠsomething her family could stomach, something they maybe wouldn't comment on...she always failed.
Azriel hissed softly, his fingers lightly tracing the red marks on her skin. She knew that they looked horrible, and yet he looked...angered? Almost furious. His expression softened as he looked back into her eyes, his fingers gently tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. "Why would you do something like that to yourself, Sky?" he murmured, his eyes searching hers. "You are beautiful. You don't need to change anything about your body." He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to a particularly hard imprint the corset had left.
Sky swallowed hard, feeling a lump form in her throat as emotion welled up in her chest. No one had ever said something like that to her, had ever made her feel like she was good enough just the way she was. She opened her mouth, trying to speak, but no words came out. Instead, she just nodded, feeling a single tear slip down her cheek. Azriel wiped it away with his thumb, his other hand coming up to cup her face tenderly.
"You are perfect," he whispered, pressing his lips to her forehead. "Just the way you are. Don't ever let anyone make you feel otherwise. Not even your family." Sky leaned into his touch, closing her eyes and just focusing on the closeness, the warmth, the feeling of being cherished and protected.
With every word he spoke, she felt a weight lifting off her shoulders, her fears and insecurities melting away. She realized that maybe, just maybe, she had found someone who truly saw her, the real her. Who accepted her exactly as she was, flaws and all.
It was so easy to sink into that. So easy to trust him. So easy to just kiss him, as she pushed the shirt he wore over his shoulders...to feel acres of gold skin, dotted with scars and dark markings...to bare him for her view and see how utterly gorgeous her mate was.
He growled softy as she ran her hand down his chest, tracing the scars that marked his skin. His body was a tapestry of pain and survival, yet she wasn't deterred. She only found him more beautiful for it.
"Mine," she whispered, pressing her lips to his chest, to one particularly nasty scar. "All mine." She could feel his heart pounding beneath her lips, the steady beat matching the rhythm of her own heartbeat. Her hands trailed down his chest, his stomach, until she reached the waistband of his trousers.
It was so easy.
So easy, to shed clothing until they were bare...so easy to press against him and feel warm, perfect skin...so easy to relax underneath him as he stretched over her...so easy to simply cup his face as she kissed him...as her legs wrapped around his hips and he groaned and she whimpered as she felt him...hot and hard and huge, pressing against her...She was dripping wet without him even laying as single finger on her beneath the waist.
Azriel didn't look unaffected, his breath coming in ragged pants, his eyes fixed on hers as they were blown wide and dark with want. He didn't move, didn't kiss her, didn't pull her closer. He only waited. Waited for her.Â
"I need you," she whimpered. "Please. Please, Az." He let out a sound somewhere between a groan and a growl, his hips rocking gently against her, teasing them both with the heat and friction between them.
Nothing hurt. Nothing ever even threatened to hurt...Even as she could feel him notch against her there...even when she could feel herself lewdly stretched open on his cock...
It was so soft and gentle and sweet andâŠ
It was everything Sky had ever wanted.Â
Not the rough kind of fucking...not the animalistic coupling she wrote half the time...but she had wanted this. She had wanted sweetness and adoration and...love...and to be wrapped up in her mate's arms like she was a precious, precious thing. She had wanted whispered praised against her skin and to be touched like she mattered...
"Sky," he whispered, his hands running up her side, his touch was soft and soothing, worshipping her body. He kissed her, slowly, deeply, and there was something...almost overwhelming about it.
About the way he made her feel. The way he made her feel loved and adored. The way he made her feel cherished. Her hands wandered up to his back, tracing the muscles shifting beneath scarred, scarred skin.
She could feel him trembling, feel the tension in his body as he held himself back, but still, he moved in slow and gentle thrusts, taking his time. He worshipped her - every little gasp and moan, every curve of her body. He traced her shape with his fingertips and lips, exploring her as though he was trying to memorize every inch of her body.
She didn't know how long they stayed that way, their bodies as one, but Sky didn't care. She was surrounded by him - the heat of his skin, the sound of his breath, the way he whispered her name like a prayer. Sky could feel the love and devotion pouring through the bond, washing over her in waves, and she knew that this was exactly where she was meant to be. With him, in his arms, completely and utterly whole.
It nearly came as a shock as she came.
A breathless moan fell from her lips as her orgasm rushed over her, her body arching as she called out his name. He kissed her through it, murmuring praise against her lips as he held her close, his own release following soon after.
They stayed there for a moment, tangled together, both of them breathless and sated. Azriel's wings slowly wrapped around them, cocooning them in a warm, protective embrace that made Sky feel safe and cherished in a way she had never experienced before.
***
There was not one inch of his mate's body that wasn't utterly beautiful. From the tips of her arched ears, to her beautiful eyes...to the swell of her breasts and the dip of her waist and the soft flesh of her belly and the flare of her hips...she smelled so good too...especially now that their scents had started to mix, and he could breath in caramel and hazelnuts and cedars and the sweet, beautiful scent of happiness as she laid underneath him. His head was bedded on her stomach, as she drew short fingernails through his messy dark hair. He nearly wanted to start to purr as she scratched at his scalp.
Azriel felt...content.
More content than he ever remembered feeling. He was wrapped up in her, his mate, with her gentle hands in his hair, and he felt utterly and completely at peace. He didn't care if they never moved from that bed again. He didn't care if the world outside their little cocoon burned. So long as she was by his side, he was content. He had never felt like this before. He had never felt this...happy. This...whole.
"I need to go feed Hector," Sky told him softly, trailing her fingers through his hair.
"Can I just have the shadows kidnap him and bring him here?" he asked, not wanting to move.
"You can't go kidnapping my cat, Az," she chided him gently, but even as she said the words, she didn't stop drawing her fingers through his hair, and Azriel didn't move. He was far too comfortable.
"Why not?" he complained.
"You'll terrify him," she said with a laugh. "Besides, do you have cat food here?"
"I'll have the shadows find some Tuna," he mumbled.
"DoâŠDo they just acâŠacquire whatever you tell them to?" she asked him with some amusement.Â
And lots of things he didn't tell them to, as well. They thought he didnât know.Â
Azriel raised himself on his forearms, looking down at Sky with a glint in his eye. "You have no idea how many things I've acquired that way," he told her with a grin.
She lifted her hands, cupping his cheeks and pulling him down towards her, resting her forehead against his. "You're a menace," she murmured against his lips.
"Your menace," he replied, kissing her softly.
Sky smiled, a warm, slow curve of her lips that made his chest feel tight. "Mine," she agreed, her voice soft. "But no kidnapâŠkidnapping my cat. He's at home."
"We could make this our home," he protested softly. "Move in with me."
Azriel had no fucking clue what was even coming over him. They should have slowed down, stopped to think...but neither of them seemed to want to.
They justâŠthey seemed utterly content to crash through what other people considered a normal timeline and just be together right now.Â
He just wanted to be near her. He wanted to share a life with her, a home. He wanted to curl up with her in front of the fire on a cold winter's night, and spend lazy Sunday mornings in bed with her. He wanted to take her flying, and watch as she wrote and listened to her read the words she wrote.Â
And he wanted - Gods, he wanted her to want that too. He held his breath as he waited for her response.
For a moment, she was silent, and Azriel wondered if he had stepped too far, asked too much too soon.Â
But then, Sky smiled again, her eyes sparkling with emotions.Â
"...AlâŠAlright," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'llâŠIâll move in with you."Â
Azriel couldn't help but grin as he pressed his forehead to hers. "Really? You mean it?" he asked, still unable to believe his ears.
"Really," she echoed with a laugh, before her expression turned serious. "But IâŠI have one coâŠcondition."Â
Azriel raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue. "What is it?"
"If I move in with you..." she began, wrapping her arms around his neck. "All my books need to come to," she told him seriously.
Azriel laughed, leaning back in to kiss her softly. "All your books can come, if that's what you want," he said. "As long as you're here, I don't care what else you bring."
And then the shadows unceremoniously dumped a screeching demon on the bed with them.
Sky let out a surprised yelp as Hector landed next to them with a thud, quickly scrambling away from the cat - and from under Azriel's weight. Azriel, for his part, sprang up, his wings flaring out in alarm. For several long moments, the three of them just stared at each other. Hector, his mismatched eyes glowing, his fur puffed up to twice itâs normal size, and Sky, her expression a mixture of surprise and affection as she looked at her pet. Finally, she cleared her throat. "Well, that's one way to introduce the two of you. Az, meet Hector."
...Gods, the shadows had really not been lying when they said that the cat was the ugliest thing they had ever seen.
Azriel slowly lowered his wings, eyeing the creature that was half-cat and half-demon. "He...looks like he wants to kill me," he said slowly.
Sky laughed, reaching out to scratch Hector's head. "He's just grumpy because he got teleported here so suddenly," she told him. "And he's not used to strangers." Hector's fur slowly flattened, and he began to purr, rubbing his head against Sky's hand. "Besides, he'd never hurt anyone," she added, looking up at Azriel with a smile.
Somehow Azriel highly doubted that.
Sky picked Hector up, cradling the cat in her arms as his purring grew louder. "See? He's not so bad," she told Azriel, moving towards him, and Azriel had to resist the urge to back away. "Hold out your hand, let him sniff you. He just needs to get used to you."
Azriel hesitantly held out his hand, trying his best to ignore the way Hector's eyes seemed to glow with an eerie light. After a moment, Hector moved forward, sniffing at Azriel's hand. Azriel felt the soft brush of whiskers against the palm of his hand, and Hector nudged his head against him, purring louder.
"See, he loves you!" Sky said enthusiastically
Azriel let out a laugh, slowly scratching the top of Hector's head. "I think he's just trying to lull me into a false sense of security before he scratches my eyes out, you know."
She rolled her eyes, "You are the most handsome cat I know," she cooed at him. "And you won't ever scratch out Azriel's eyes. No, you won't.â
Azriel would not quite go as far as describe the cat as handsome...but then...his own scarred hands weren't particularly beautiful either.
So Hector and him had that in common.
And the fact that they both wanted to cuddle with Sky. Actually, he was pretty sure that the cat hated him just for taking away his monopoly on that.
But Azriel would have shared a house with the King of Hybern if that meant that he got to have Sky in his bed.
She smiled at him, her eyes warm and adoring. "I knew you two would hit it off," she said, holding Hector in the crook of her arm. The cat stared at Azriel for a moment, as if sizing him up, before leaping off Sky's lap and disappearing under the bed with a soft patter of paws. "He'll warm up to you eventually," Sky assured him, but Azriel wasn't so sure about that.
He pulled Sky in closer to him, slipping back underneath the sheets with her, kissing her forehead. "I'll win him over, eventually," he promised her. At least, he hoped he would - he didn't particularly enjoy the idea of having to wake up with his throat being sliced open by an angry cat.
He would buy that damn cat all the Tuna in the world if that made Sky happy.

Yes!! âWhere you go, I goâthatâs the deal.â
Thatâs exactly the concept my fix-it is based on.
But Jon died first. This new Martin is extremely similar to S1 Martin, but not at the same time, because canonically, he and Jon havenât even met yet.
Jon embeds himself in Martinâs life and gets him to hang out with Tim, Sasha, Gerry, and himself outside work hours and Jon is so taken with Martin and Martin is pretty much: âNo, stop. You donât know me. Stop talking like you do.â
And Jon is reminded that this Martin isnât his Martinâreminded by both his anxiety ridden brain and by Martin himself.
And Jonânot wanting to lose anybodyâtries to cling to everyone and they all form a sort of polycule. But Martin is still trying to pull away from Jon.
Like Martin is fine with Gerry. [Probably because they share similar (mommy) issues.] And Gerry is kind of the only one heâs okay with.
Jon has issues because he keeps holding onto his Martin and has more than one panic attack about his Martin being somewhere else. The only thing that calms him down is thinking âYouâre being ridiculous. Martin is at peace.â
The panic attacks usually start because he remembers leaving Martin by himself after Jon himself died and he SPIRALS bad. Gerry is the one who pulls him out of itâhe did the first time he witnessed it and heâll keep doing so.
But thatâs what my whole fic stems from: âWhere you go, Iâll go.â And they didnât. Martin is still elsewhere, apart from Jon, and Jon is reminded by this frequently and he will probably always be reminded of this. Heâll do or say something that his Martin would have chuckled at or say one of their inside jokes or something and Martin will look at him and go âWhat are you talking about?â
And thatâs the kicker, thatâs the tragedy. âWhere you go, Iâll go.â Except they didnât. Not even in death.
[Mind you, Iâm still in season 4 and I was drawing off the fact that Jon died and he misses his friends and GASP!! He has his friends back now. MUST CLING, especially Martin. I love you. Iâm sorry. But if Iâm writing Jon canonically correct where Martin is concerned, Iâm going to lean into the whole concept more with how he interacts with everyone, especially Martin.]
nothing personal but this kind of comment rlly exemplifies to me a disconnect between canon and popular fanon jmart characterization because they almost literally had this conversation in canon - except, their lines are swapped!
jon, for all his scared grouchiness, is a secret romantic, while martin, for all his forced optimism, is at his core a pragmatist

bestowing my highest honor as an artist to ffxv (drawing the characters in fun outfits)
thoughts under the cut
RREAAAGHHHH SO EXCITED TO BE DONE WITH THIS!!!!! it took me forevarrrr but i soldiered through as an act of love. now excuse me. yap time
OKAY SO the concept behind this was originally specific fashion subcultures for everyone!l ike noct emo ignis dark academia etc. but then decided i didnt want to pigeonhole it all and just freestyled outfits i thought would look nice on everyone
noct - i do think noct would still be emo-ish but also opt for comfy baggy stuff a lot. something you could just fall asleep in on the spot. note the details of bass pro shop shirt (of course) XV necklace, little moon + stars accents, carbuncle + fish keychains. i also wanted his metal band logo shirt to spell LUCIS but i forgor some letters but its not very readable anyways
ignis - ignit ooohghh ignos ignaurs. sorry i made him serve so much cunt it will happen again. i drew him first cause that kind of inspired this whole thing i love him so bad if i didnt draw it id explode. not much detail to note except his collar pins are like his double blade thingies
luna - lunaaa the concept was âclean girl aestheticâ idk if that happened but im actually really happy with how it came out! might be my favorite of the bunch just because she looks so pretty and happy. your honor she should have been able to just be a normal girl and just. chill
prompto - prompotoooo i had trouble picking his vibe!!! my first thought was techwear?? because weeheeeehee he loves tech and well... you know... but then i realized i didnt really like the look of anything i saw + it was so bulky and dark and serious for him! ending up going with some more youthful and baggy. i was considering something more loud and colorful but ended up not going with it. i feel like in canon he'd be too nervous to have such a flashy fit and would want to just look "cool" to fit in with the boys lol. itty bitty details here - chocobo keychain, pompompurin and bi miku buttons, and his lanyard is kings knight themed! i also thought it was funny to write LUCIS on his shirt like you know those shirts that just say BROOKLYN or TOKYO or SAN FRANCISCO and thats it. thats what its like
gladio - okay i know this is going to sound like a lie but im not horny for gladio like at all, hes my least favorite, i think he's just alright. but also i KNOW in my heart of hearts that he would LOVE being a leather daddy and so i had to make it happen. main detail to note here is that his tank top has the motifs of a cup noodle! i didnt know what else to add cause you know.. hes the cup noodle guy.. but also i didnt want it to be so in your face about it with a big as logo so kept it subtle!
(side note the leather daddy gave me an idea for a post where its like noct and prom go to a gay bar all nervous but then they run into gladio and its like "p: GLADIO YOURE GAY?" "n: nevermind that PLEASE dont tell ignis we snuck out" and then ignis walks up and theyre all like WHAT THE FUCK!!!! caption would be "the gang finds out theyre all bisexual." probably wont draw it but i think its very funny lol)
iris - iris my sweetheart.... definitely leaned into the scene vibes here and also that one image of the blonde emo anime girl. details here - of course the moogle big ass backpack and keychain (can you tell i love keychains), but also her buttons are an iris (the flower) and also a crown with hearts (haha symbolism)
anyways oh god i didnt mean to write an essay down here. usually i keep this in the tags but this time i just had Too Much To Say. can you tell i put a lot of thought and love into this . anwyays. *walks off into the sunset and fuckig dies*

PRETTY LIKE A PRINCESS â p. bueckers
pairing : paige bueckers x fem!reader
synopsis : youâre having a bad day and paige asks to do your makeup for you
warnings : none
word count : 600 (very short sorry)
note : are u guys okay with the small writing size or should i change it to the regular one so that everyone can read it easily?
âLet me do your makeup.â You heard from her familiar voice from where u sat cross-legged on the floor, facing the large mirror that you had been too lazy to hang up yet.
You didnât have to be anywhere. Quite the opposite. It was a stay at home day but you couldnât help but want to do something nice for yourself. Doing your makeup wasnât something solely reserved for outings, it was a form of expression and art to youâ something that never failed to cheer you up when having a bad day. And thatâs exactly what today was. A bad day.
It had started with you not getting enough sleep on your only day off of the week, while Paige peaceful slept beside you like a baby, the soft snores and her even breathing pattern almost taunting you as you rolled over for the umpteenth time.
Then it continued with your comfort character dying inâaccording to youâ the most unnecessary way possible. It didnât take much for your mood to sink, the slightest inconvenience was usually enough.
âYou wanna do my makeup?â You repeated with a raised brow, almost as if unsure whether you had heard her right or not.
âWell, thatâs what I just said, isnât it?â The blonde grinned from her spot, back leaned against your bed frame and her arms behind her head, unintentionally flexing those arm muscles that pushed you closer to the edge of insanity daily.
You could perfectly see her from the reflection in the mirror, but still you craned your neck to shoot her a look. âDonât get smart with me, Goldilocks. Iâm not the one today.â
That had managed to emit a full chuckle from your girlfriend, arms falling back to her sides as she straightened up. âCâmon, baby, please. You donât trust me?â
âNow youâre just making me sound bad.â You rolled your eyes with sigh, though not truly annoyed. If anything, the thought of it made you feel somewhat giddy. But you wouldnât admit that. âOkay⊠fine.â
And thatâs how you ended up sitting on the bed, cross-legged once again as you faced Paige. She started out by finishing the base that you had started, but before you knew it, you already felt her hands snaking around your hips, swiftly pulling you into her lap.
âMuch better, baby.â She mumbled, a faint smirk on her face as she adjusted you on top of her.
All you could do was look down at the girl, silently watching as her warm hands left and found your face repeatedly. occasionally cradling it for longer than needed, gently tilting it to the side as if youâd break any moment. All that and more, had you fighting for dear life to bite back a smile.
âAll done, baby.â Paige spoke again, finally breaking the comfortable silence between the two of you, her eyes gleaming in adoration and awe. Her hands instinctively found their way to your waist, holding you almost as if to steady you. âPretty like a princess.â
Your heart warmed at her words, a rosy hue creeping onto your cheeks and you couldnât help but eventually crack a smile at the girl. The affect she had on you, was anything short of healing and comforting. You tilted your head forward slightly, hands snaking up to delicately cup her face before you placed a soft, lingering kiss on her lips as she looked up at you.
A bright smile formed on her face, lighting her entire face up and you couldâve sworn that right then and there, you fell in love with Paige all over again, as if it had been the first time.

bones. bones they made moonpaw a schizophrenia and plurality stereotype. bones. bones help us
OH NO IS THAT WHY THERE'S 16 MESSAGES
I TURNED MY BACK FOR 5 MINUTES GREAT GOOGLY FUCKELING MOOGELY
I still have to finish reading Star (you have to forgive me for being a capital G Gamer who's been uber distracted) to gather together my final fair assessment, so I can start putting down the fragments for BB!ASC. But I WILL tell you this;
The whole Moonpaw Discourse from a couple of months ago really opened my eyes to just how pervasive intersexism and plurality stereotyping is, even in this space.
Not all of it is malice-- like many other cultural biases, people often just pick up negative stereotypes passively and don't realize they reflect poorly on real people. "Scary evil head voice" is one of them. Yes, intrusive thoughts exist (they are something I deal with), but it's about the snap, subconscious association between "voice in head" and "mental torment."
As the case and point; Look at how FAST the fandom conversation changed when the team first teased it. What was a fantastical, equal parts sincere love and horror exploration of shipping a cat with a magic pool morphed. Overnight, The Voice was an abusive thing, an expression of a dead baby who wanted to live, or a reincarnated monster, or another evil Ashfur-esque posession spirit.
Something bad, malicious, unwanted. By contrast, the voice of the moonpool was mostly portrayed as a supernatural yet good thing. Genuinely asking her for help.
(Part of me also ponders the religious angle of it. "Voices in my head" that come from God are generally much more socially acceptable than "Voices in my head" that come from the self. Regardless,)
So, as always, I Don't Rewrite Arcs Until They Are Done (I DRAU TAD, if you will), BUT... I know for certain that I will want to subvert this.
If Canon!Moonpaw must be a system, and we're all ready to buckle up and bunker down through how the Erins handle this one, then for BB!Moonpaw I'll try to do the same. But for my portrayal, I want to write her relationship with her headmate to be generally positive. Or at least more complicated and multifaceted.
One idea in particular I like is the thought that she absorbed a twin... but writing it as a chance the twin GETS to live, NOT a life denied. Death would have claimed them if they didn't become part of her. So, they love her-- of course they do. They're two souls with one heart.
The specifics will have to come with time. I need to see how her plurality impacts the plot, the overall story being told, plus wait to assess the criticisms that real systems and fusion chimeras in our fandom will have. But I can say with certainty that I would like to attempt my redux with the sad truth in mind that headmates in media are almost never approached as non-malicious. I'd like to do what I can to make a difference.

So, to add on to Navi's post, because her whole read for the original was getting screenshots from the game to debunk what was said, of course....we are now here. I want to tell you that no one here disagreed with your conclusion about Ganondorf being a victim. What we here disagreed with was the method you used to get there. Simplifying Ganondorf down to solely good or solely evil is something this Fandom does all the time with little to no nuance. And even though you have written an eloquent essay, Published even! You twisted or outright made up parts of the game to get to your conclusion. In essay writing, that's called a logical fallacy, and the whole essay either twists what happens in the game or outright gets it wrong.
Now people are probably gonna wonder why I'm treating this like a big deal or why I'm speaking so blunt, because this is by all means very stupid fandom drama.
But I think when you're a college prof and you get an essay published and it's online for people to read everywhere without you, one, not giving the context behind Ganondorf's creation and the coding of his appearance and motivations, two the complexities of a corporate conglomerate in a notoriously socially conservative country taking aesthetics from countries who were historically colonized. And Three, The way that video games are a collaborative effort with usually no singular vision, this is very true at nintendo despite what people may think, and at any moment changes can be made for any reason by team leads or executives that would hinder or even hurt a story. It detrimental to the audience reading it that you do not provide them more of a couple of screenshots
Basically, many things go into a story and now I'm taking this more from a DOYLIST view right here talking about Nintendo. But I'm doing this because you keep trying to say..... well fuck man do I need to pull up more examples? Navi got them all, the whole essay is you trying HEAVILY to imply that Nintendo MEANT to do all of this, as in intentional in the story, idk I feel crazy, words have meaning, specific wording has implication, oh and this dosent even get into how localization can change things đđ wording has meaning and sometimes translators don't have cultural contexxxtttttttt and to not even mention about Nintendo's history or even the short hand that comes from Ganondorf's design and the historical Orientalism behind it feels like a disservice to the paper, but much more qualified people then I have discussed the way Ganondorf is written and probably would love to discuss or link to previous writing again if asked.
And this is a cold take but Nintendo isnât the place you should be looking to for deep story telling, they will always be a corporate entity first and the bottom line is a general audience, this does not mean JUST KIDS this means to a generalized population. And this is extremely cynical but a lot of people cant even handle the complexity of a female character who is mean, like Midna, do you really think people would handle a Ganondorf like how he is in Tp being portrayed in any form of film language as good????? This game dropped 5 years after 9/11, Nintendo was never gonna lose out in money like that.
And Dude people have given so much shit to HUGE fanartists and comic authors about their work portraying Ganondorf in a sympathetic light, you would of thunk more people would of picked up on Ganondorf's story being written as tragedy if there was something in the game that actually DID that. Maybe they would of written a blog post about how Midna saw Link kill Ganondorf and was ashamed of that or Ganondorf TOTALLY said the history of light and shadow will be written in blood thing before the final battle, you think people would of talked about huh why did Ganondorf say that there or something and maybe went đ€ instead of it being argued that Tp Ganondorf had the weakest writing of the series until TotK threw a pile of flaming shit at my door with a picture of Ganondorf on it.
Navi also goes in depth on how Hyrule has not exactly stagnated like what was claimed in History of Light and Shadow by using the Goron merchants and Yeto as examples.
Rynling has stated that the cause of the stagnation and decline is due to an ineffectual leader that has "Not allowed its people to be revitalized by change and diversity."
Now I am familiar with the flaws of an undetermined national unity, I am very familiar with the subject, but Iâm not going to speak like an authority. Id rather let someone much more qualified make that post and I link back to it, because i know its coming. But Navi said in her post that the idea of what could of happened at Arbiter's Grounds can completely blow over someone's head if they didn't play OoT first, and I think more or less this is accurate, certain things are lost in Wind Waker even with the recaps, but I wanna join in on this in my own way...
Rynling....you may say Hyrule has been on a decline during Tp......you may even think OoT had a more stable Hyrule or some shit.....i THINK YOU FORGOT ABOUT THE PLOT OF OCARINA OF TIME BAYBEEEEEEE
THE SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL THAT I CAN PULL UP TO PROVE MY SHIT ABOUT OOT HYRULE BEING DOG SHIT IN COMPARISON TO TP
Like if you're seriously gonna link me and Navi to your essay then I am about to go full BTW it's a Sativa and eat that bitch after midnight cuZ we YELLIN ABOUT OCARINA OF TIME ON THIS POST FOR EVERYONEđđđđđ
All of Ocarina of Time's narrative is haunted by the civil war, the whole reason why Link is being raised in the woods is cuz of the civil war, the Sheikah are implied to have died out during the same conflict, and well its said that Hyrule was unified during it
Civil War yet the translators use unified the country like it WASNT under a sole ruler before? Hello? I need to go back through the Japanese script for the game again to see if i missed something of the game and freak it harder. And do realize the Deku sprout in this screenshot says fierce war but every where else, including the Zelda wiki (not fandom) its CIVIL War.
The Gate to Death mountain and Simultaniously the fence at Zora's river gives us and idea that peace was....tenuous at best downright hostile at worse given relations with the Gerudo
so today we gonna do some fun comparing and contrasting the Gorons and how they are treated in OoT to TP
and we gonna start with his racist ass BHJBHDBHKCJW
I mean, damn remmeber how mad Darunia is at Link for being the supposed royal family messenger? Link Unlocking the door to Darunia's room with Zelda's lullaby, I think it's a little funny that Darunia is hung up , you know, like he knows this is some disrespectful shit
Hey wannna hear some shit? The gates at the edge of death mountain aren't guarded by Gorons and were not built by them you can tell, the only way to visit the mountain is to get permission from the King to go up and not from the people that actually live there
God and like, there is something about the way Darunia locks himself in his room, like he does it to keep the ruby safe from all the other Gorons being so hungry that he's frightened they're gonna eat it, he doesn't know what to do on how to act about the Dodongos that Ganondorf summon on him for not giving over that rock. It qlmost sounds like when Ganondorf came in and Threatened Darunia, and that he (Darunia) sent a message to the royal family asking for help, why else would he be expecting someone to come meet with him?
"If I'm not mistaken, you came out here to eat the red stone too! Well, too bad! It's not here! What? That's not why you're here? You're looking for a "Spiritual Stone?" You must mean that delicious-looking red stone that was once displayed above the city! I was so hungry that I thought it would be OK to just give it one tiny, little lick...so I snuck up there. But it was already gone! I think Big Brother took it away. He always says that everyone is after that red stone! Big Brother has shut himself up in his room saying, "I will wait in here for the Royal Family's messenger!" this is a quote from the Goron that you can find on the middle of the rope bridge thing in Goron city.
Yeah so he sent a letter or something and no one answered yeesh.
contrast this all with TP where OH LOOKS WHO'S GUARDING DEATH MOUNTAIN
so in TP spoilers, this happens
Kakariko is more connected then ever! Renado here is wondering what the hell is going on with their FRIENDS. And yeah the Goron elder Gor Coron is trying to keep the last few people from kakariko left safe, and other Gorons, i mean, theyre keeping a piece of the fused shadow in there. also the way that entry into the temple goes in this game is cute, Darunia was freaking it cuz everyone is starving, but here Link wrestles his way up a mountain to ask the Gron elder whats happening since he was asked to come here by Renado, Gor Coron goes DAMN
unless......?
IDK ITS LIKE? ITS SILLY? Idk Hyrule isnt the best place but why try and act like this doesnt happen during TP?
so where am i getting at with this? the hell was going on back during OoT? If things are so odd and weirdly tense with the gates gaurds and non responses
"As time passed, the Triforce became a legend, and the different people of Hyrule forgot the laws and wisdom that the goddesses had left behind. Warfare and strife became common in Hyrule, as the armies of the Zora marched on the Hylians. The Gorons fought the Gerudo. It seemed every race of Hyrule was at the other's throat. Only the secluded Kokiri, sheltered by their magical forest and the Great Deku Tree, were spared the destruction of Hyrule's civil wars.
After 50 years of ceaseless combat, there arose a Hylian King of great wisdom, courage and power. Through his brilliant military campaigns and wise diplomacy, he was able to bring the varied people of Hyrule into a tenuous harmony. Treaties of peace were signed, and prosperity once again seemed to bloom in Hyrule. But no sooner had people declared peace in Hyrule than trouble once again stalked the land."
Tenuous Harmony, could you imagine if they dropped a line like this in Creating a champion? The tumblr side of the fandom would go fucking nuts with that info like OHHHHH SHIT WAS GOING ONNNNNN
This was ALL on the offical Nintendo Zelda website back when oot was the big game out, we have this cuz someone saved it to the wayback, THIS SCREENSHOT WAS FROM DECEMBER 14TH 2001, ABOUT A FULL YEAR AND A DAY UNTIL WIND WAKER WAS RELEASED IN JAPAN. THAT'S INSANE RIGHT???? âŒïžâŒïžđ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
And then it all probably got deleted once wind waker became the new thing!!! Or when they wanted to modernize and deleted it!!! THAT SUCKS RIGHT????
And what's worse is that it introduces some new info and also clarifies something. Hey you know when I made that post like damn Darunia racist as hell
"Warfare and strife became common in Hyrule, as the armies of the Zora marched on the Hylians. The Gorons fought the Gerudo."
NO WHERE IN THE GAME THE LEGEND OF ZELDA OCARINA OF TIME IT SAYS THIS, IT DOES NOT STATE THERE WAS CONFLICT BETWEEN THE GORONS AND GERUDO.....LIKE DIN GET YA KIDS.....IM LOOKING EVERYWHERE FOR SOMETHING I MUST OF MISSED.
But Like oh hey a fucking explanation to why he just fucking says that, I figure it was cuz of Ganondorf trying to almond mom all of them or that he kept talking to the King and well.....Navi already showed the GENERAL reaction to the Gerudo in castle town.
it went from oh hes just racist to dARUNIA AND GANONDORF HAVE HISTORY????
But the interesting one is why did thy Zora "marched on the Hylians."
Like sitting here like, I know a comic made in Germany shouldn't be a be all end all in shit I knew it never was and it would like. If you put this in warrior cats canonicoty categorization would be considered lower down supplementary material dubious canon, but their are things in the comic AND the Himekawa manga that behinds some behind the scenes actions given that LINK'S MOM HAS A MOSTLY CONSISTENT DESIGN WHAT THE HELLLLLLLL. And I always thought the Goron Zora war thing was stupid but Nintendo then had that out on their website, what the hell was going ON.
Because idk i didnt think much of Zora De Bon XVI and the Hyrulien King's relationship but
Now a days the Zelda website is much different and does not have lore pages like this anymore, it's more like a summary of the timeline. But yeah actually Nintendo approved shit, Hylian/Zora war.
Hyrule is progressing, its just going slowly, Hyrule is not AS stifled by its monarchy or a lack of integration during TP because Hyrule IS integrating, is people's are intermingling like is hasn't before during this game.
And this isn't even to get started on the E3 demo of Twilight princess that the trip that Link is supposed to take at the beginning of the game was to be the representative of Ordon at the "Hyrule summit
and Hyrule is described in a VERY specific way
Kingdom of Hyrule and neighboring realms? like theyre all not under the crown? so like???? FUN, that didn't end up making it in the game. the dailouge that is, But the remints is still there in the way the game is made up, like how OoT is built off is civil war bones
actually funny, Navi just got me screenshots of the way the dialouge was changed here
Like stuff clearly changed during the demo and finished game, I should of been touching more on the intricacies of how like shit was just change for no reason sometimes but uh....
But maybe @rawliverandgoronspice would want to one day like about games industry stuff if you ever want to đ I know you're super passionate on this and I wish I like even off hand mentioned something about how like TP is also effected by how games are made but I didn't and I'm a fool but games are complicated as hell and that post you made talking a bit about it was fun ya know đđ and the Beta of Tp changes a LOT of stuff, one Rusl really is like a brother to link in the way he messes with him, it actually makes some weird Nintendo licensed shit saying hes like a big brother to Link made WAYYYYY more since with the Beta in mind, but....that also mean they tried to keep the big bro vibes....but then put the dad ones in there too like.....uh...did..someone not change his summary anywhere?
that was my big thing i wanted to talk about, navi's already touched on everything else i just think the parallels here between the Goron quest between OoT and TP changes in such a nice way.
And like this doesn't get into other shit about TP, like if we wanna deep dive into shit ya don't gotta do it by twisting the story, like I was going and talking to @blackautmedia to ask with some help when it came to like.......god idk what i even said anymore i was going a mile a minute. He wants to write his own thing on Twilight princess so im not gonna step on his toes but he has recommended Arabs and Muslims in the Media: Race and Representation after 9/11 by Evelyn Alsultany, the link I provided here is too her website and her page on the book this link here is from her own site that has a pdf of a part American Quarterly with a paper by the same name.
Anyways i wanna reflex for a moment cuz ive been up for hours finishing this because my brain wont stop unless i do. But the thing that by all means started this, was not your reblog linking me and Navi to your essay, or that there is 2 versions i found out where the paper published one had a lot more context to why you wrote your tumblr post the way you did, Navi helped me get the parts that were cut, please realize removing these does not remove the sentiment from the essay, its baked in.
fanfic, its a popular Fan interpretation that there was fighting between the Gerudo and Hylians after Ganondorf was caught trying to take the triforce, but this is not stated to of happened in the lore itself or even has evidence to back it up other then the Implications of Arbiter's grounds theory
UGHHHH AND THIS AGAIN "Twilight Princess Delivers a subtle yet poignant protest against neoliberal discourses of empire reflected in the rhetoric of heroism inform the geopolitical movements of Japan throught the twentieth century"
WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING TALKING ABOUT......
i dont mean this in a stupid ass way, im saying where the hell was about the protest thing, wait i really shouldt take from the published one cuz you actually dumbed down the line for tumblr
anyways again, where, Navi made it clear enough with her own post that, no, the way that Ganondorf is animated has no sympathy for him until the light is literally leaving him. Hell Twilight princess inst very kind to the gerudo either given that the only thing said about them is that they were thieves and nothing more. Like somehow OoT is more empathetic to the Gerudo, it doesn't just call them thieves, it aint great its not even good its just a bad portrayal of a people, and yet somehow OoT is willing to show the Gerudo in a neutral light at points then TP ever did.
but the reason i decided to just throw down a post is cuz i was pissed that you went after Ezlo for reblogging ME and NAVI's posts and purposefully misunderstood their fuckin wind waker post about ZELDA YOUTUBERS
dude you had them getting genuinely harassed by people with 0 reading comprehension that thinks a snarky reply to a tumblr post means its 100% correct. Webbed. Site.
anyways, I hope people don't take this as a right or wrong way to interpret a piece of work, as stated before, I read your essay, navi read your essay, you changed parts of Twilight Princess to get to the conclusion of you paper...And im gonna be real but it's kinda crazy that you're using post colonial melancholia for this when it's got some.....well something like idk i need someone to do a full ass review because there are point where i gently raise an eyebrow im gonna be real. but also like
like how do you read his book and then miss out on this, one of your whole big aruments is that hyrule is stagnate and not multi cultural and i had to grab screenshots and Navi had to get shit from the game.
like damn, do yall ever uh feel a strange sadness when dusk falls? i do. Idk this is one of the first and last times Nintendo ever delt with Ganondorf with some form a sympathy for him, cuz we got the dragon explosion in totk its like oh he's turbo evil now and he exploded you exploded him and yet the Gerudo probably still gotta pay for his shit from a billion years ago anyways idk idk idk pot shots at totk again.
I know you dug around a little for that post, and I understand from the numerous people that dmed me about that, you probably went on making an essay on their post so you could sound smart again.
And to be clear, I was told to drop some shit i was about to say about you because no one wants to start fandom drama, neither do I truly and any jab on the post itself would just be rude. people change and some people only learn to shut the hell up, so we'll keep it at that. I just hope you really don't truly recognize some of these people you started shit with.
So yeah tldr, uh.....idk, im going in for an autism screening in a month
also me watching the ending to windwaker cuz i wanted to say something about stong endings TP fans im sorry But Wind waker's ending hits no matter what best sequal to OoT thats isnt Majora's mask
The History of Light and Shadow
At the end of Twilight Princess, Ganondorf delivers one of his most memorable lines, âThe history of light and shadow will be written in blood.â He is not wrong. As the player has witnessed over the course of Linkâs adventure, Hyrule is haunted by ruins and ghost towns, a mere shadow of what it once was. The landscape is filled with numerous sites of past violence and empty spaces visibly marked by decay and wasted potential.
When Zelda tells Link and Midna that âthese dark times are the result of our deeds,â she is referring to specific historical acts of imperialistic aggression. Hyrule established hegemony over its outlying territories by crushing the rebellions against its advances, but the kingdom has suffered from cultural stagnation as a result. Without the dynamic diversity symbolized by Ganondorf, Hyrule finds itself in economic and political decline, isolated from any contact with the world beyond its shrinking borders.
As a representative of a marginalized group of people who have been attacked and driven from their homes, Ganondorf is a tangible manifestation of the horrors of imperialism. He must be defeated, but doing so does not address the underlying problems that have resulted in Hyruleâs decline. I therefore want to argue that Twilight Princess uses Ganondorf to deliver a subtle yet poignant protest against the discourses of empire reflected by the dualistic âlight and shadowâ rhetoric of heroism that has resulted in tragedy and regret.
#oughhhhhh#oghhnkn eepy time yeah never agian#i have a whole thing about the triforce i wanted to say all this shit because of corruption and power but im so tired and ucked up what if#draw like crazy tomorrow or something like oh hbhbgb but uhhhhhh anyways anyways#now that i dont ffeel like i goot wAIT THE CHAINS BREAKING MAMA DIDNT RAISE A QUITTER#but like idk i dont like fightig or anything online i was just so??????????????? when Ezlo got hit for no reason like hi dont do that they#werent apart of this like#idk maybe im just a little venomus rn too but i also uh....would not be mkaing repeat posts where you wax academic about post colonial#ghosts but can reblog more then 8 posts for palestine in over a year??? like thats mean to say but with the context of Ori....#yeesh#idk bad look. there are real people to care about and this is why i dont wanna do internet discourse no more#its just stupid as hell and i have become SOOOOO normal#god lets hope i didnt eave lose ends i look ill rn ive been up over uh..........36 hours for some ungodley reason#wasnt even writing this the whole time i was clotecting eggs and laying down some diatematious earth for these birds#oh and then i get like.....IM GONN DRAW GANONDORF#I GOT AN ASK ABOUT HIM AND HES BEEN ROTATING IN MY HEAAADDDDDD#OOOOOOOO DORFFYDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO#Anyways back to my shit i will hopefull never be this mean again because its fucking exausting#but like bunch of dudes in your dms like LOOK AT THIS and you go oh YEESH i am so sorry i was a teen when that happened#well anyways im gonna be doing my little tasks and stuff tomorrow cuz#AS I SAID THE CHAINS! summary: Jinx asks you an important question, with the stars as witness
Pairing: Jinx x Fem!reader
Wordcount: 2k
Authors note: Even tough I feel like shit, writing somehow helps me work trough my emotions. I have another like 3 ideas on how this can go, so definitely keep an eye out for more versions.
masterlist
The stars above feel closer than ever, twinkling brightly over the city. You lie side by side with Jinx on a soft, worn blanket, wrapped up in each other as if thereâs no one else in the world. Sheâs lying on her back, one arm stretched out, and youâre nestled into her side, one arm crossing her stomach, resting your head on her shoulder. Her fingers are softly tracing patterns on your arm, the touch light but grounding, as if she wants to memorize every part of you.
She pulls you closer, her arm shifting so it wraps fully around your shoulders, drawing you against her. Her cheek rests on top of your head, and you can feel the rise and fall of her chest with every steady breath. The cool night air settles around you, but her warmth, the way she holds you, feels like home.
With a soft sigh, Jinx shifts slightly, guiding you to lie even closer to her, your bodies pressed together. You look up, meeting her eyes, and she smilesâa gentle, vulnerable smile thatâs just for you. She reaches up, her hand brushing a stray strand of hair from your face, letting her fingers linger as they trace the outline of your cheek.
âI donât really⊠do this,â she says quietly, her voice almost a whisper against the stillness of the night. âBut I guess⊠I like having you here. Like⊠a lot.â
You smile, snuggling deeper into her embrace, and she responds by shifting so youâre both facing each other, wrapped up in each otherâs arms. Her fingers drift to the small of your back, holding you close, her forehead resting against yours.
âCanât believe Iâm getting all mushy,â she says, a soft laugh escaping her. But thereâs no hint of her usual bravado. Just the gentle way her thumb strokes your back, the way her legs tangle with yours, drawing you closer than you thought possible.
âMaybe mushy isnât so bad,â you murmur, letting your fingers glide along her shoulder. The warmth of her breath on your cheek sends a flutter through your chest as she tilts her head, pressing a gentle, lingering kiss to your lips. Itâs soft, sweet, and says more than words ever could.
She pulls back just enough to look at you, her purple eyes holding a tenderness thatâs rare, almost fragile. âStay here with me, just like this,â she whispers, her voice a promise as her arms tighten around you.
And as you lie there, wrapped up in each other, you feel like the whole world could fade away, and you wouldnât mind one bit. Because in this moment, under the stars, in her armsâeverything is perfect.
The night feels endless and comforting as you lie together, wrapped in the warmth of each other and the blanket beneath you. You notice the subtle change in Jinxâher fingers tracing over your arm in a slower, almost hesitant way, and the way her gaze keeps drifting up to the stars, then back to you, like sheâs working up the nerve to say something.
She pulls you even closer, her forehead resting against yours, and you feel her breath hitch, as if sheâs caught off guard by the depth of her own emotions. Her usual playful grin is absent, replaced by a softer, almost shy smile as she holds you, her fingers brushing up and down your back.
âCan I tell you something?â she asks, her voice softer than youâve ever heard it. She doesnât wait for your answer, like sheâs afraid sheâll lose her courage if she does. âBeing with you⊠it makes me feel like thereâs this whole side of me I didnât know I had. Like I finally found a place I donât wanna run from.â
Her fingers pause, holding tightly to you as her eyes search yours, as if looking for reassurance. âI know I donât usually get all sappy,â she mumbles, a nervous laugh escaping her, âbut with you⊠itâs different. I feel⊠I donât know.â She looks away for a second, biting her lip, and you can see a hint of red on her cheeks.
You smile, reaching up to touch her face, and she leans into your touch, closing her eyes as if letting herself savor this moment. When she opens them again, thereâs something deeper there, a flicker of nervous anticipation that makes your heart skip.
âI guess⊠I just wanna keep you around,â she says, her words coming out quickly, almost stumbling over each other. Her hand fidgets on your arm, tracing slow circles as if sheâs trying to calm herself down. âI mean⊠forever, if youâd want that. But, uh, you know, no pressureâŠâ
She lets out a breathy laugh, her face flushed as she glances away, clearly flustered. âIâve just⊠Iâve never felt like this before,â she admits, her voice barely above a whisper. Her fingers tighten around yours, grounding herself in your touch. âAnd I donât ever want it to end.â
You feel your chest swell, warmth spreading through you as her words settle in. You squeeze her hand in reassurance, your thumb brushing over her knuckles, watching as she relaxes slightly, a hint of her usual grin returning as she pulls you closer.
The peaceful night air shifts as you feel Jinxâs arms tighten around you. Her fingers have stopped their gentle tracing, and she lets out a shaky breath. She pulls back, glancing at you with wide eyes filled with something between excitement and nerves. Youâve seen Jinx look a lot of waysâconfident, mischievous, boldâbut this look is new. Almost vulnerable.
âC-can you⊠stand up for a sec?â she stammers, her voice catching slightly as she untangles herself from you, her hands lingering on your arms as if to steady herself.
Confused, but intrigued, you sit up and get to your feet. She follows, but instead of standing fully, she settles down onto one knee, looking up at you, her cheeks flushed and her fingers visibly trembling as she reaches into her pocket.
And then she pulls out a ring box, snapping it open to reveal a diamond ring that sparkles in the faint light from the city belowâa ring so big and brilliant that it almost catches your breath.
Your mind goes blank for a moment, your heart racing as you process whatâs unfolding in front of you. Your hand instinctively moves to cover your mouth, and you feel a wave of warmth rush through you, as if every beat of your heart is echoing, saying yes, yes, yes This is Jinx, on one knee, her eyes searching yours with a mixture of hope and uncertainty that makes your chest tighten with pure emotion.
Jinx swallows hard, her voice a little shaky, and for a second, itâs like sheâs struggling to find the words. âI⊠I know Iâm not perfect. Iâm reckless and a little⊠well, a lot chaotic. And I probably drive you insane half the time. But when Iâm with you, I donât want to be anywhere else.â
A soft, amazed laugh slips from you, but you donât dare interrupt. Youâre transfixed, every nerve ending attuned to her, to the way her thumb brushes over the diamond, grounding herself as she looks back up with those bright blue eyes, filled with more emotion than youâve ever seen in them.
âI want this. Us. Forever.â Her voice steadies, her usual confidence returning as she looks up at you with a grin thatâs all Jinxâplayful, intense, and utterly devoted. âSo, what do you say? Wanna make all my future trouble your problem, officially?â
Her question hangs in the air, and for a moment, the world seems to stop. The stars, the city lights belowâtheyâre all background noise to the look on her face, hopeful and nervous, her heart wide open in a way she rarely shows.Â
Your vision blurs as tears prick your eyes, and as you meet her gaze, you know thereâs only one answer youâd ever give her.
Your heart feels like it might burst as you stare down at her, your mind racing to keep up with the whirlwind of emotions. There she is, Jinx, the wild, unpredictable force that turned your world upside down, now kneeling in front of you with an earnest, almost desperate look in her eyes.
She lets out a breathy laugh, scratching the back of her neck, her fingers still gripping the ring box. âYouâre really quiet⊠Donât leave me hanging here, or I might actually combust,â she says, flashing that familiar grin, though thereâs a tremor to it, like sheâs more vulnerable than sheâs ever been.
You drop to your knees in front of her, taking her hands in yours. She stiffens in surprise, her cheeks flushed, but she doesnât pull away. Instead, she watches you with a mix of relief and excitement, her lips parting slightly as you bring your hand to her cheek, brushing your thumb along her skin.
âYes,â you breathe, and her face lights up, her eyes widening as the word sinks in. âYes, I want everything with you, Jinx. Your trouble, your chaos, your everything.â
For a second, sheâs stunned into silence, and then sheâs laughing, a sound so bright and joyous that it fills the night air around you. She slides the ring onto your finger, her hands trembling a little as she presses a kiss to your knuckles, her lips soft and lingering.
âI canât believe you said yes,â she whispers, pulling you into her arms as she tumbles back onto the blanket, bringing you down with her in a mess of tangled limbs and laughter. She holds you close, burying her face in your neck, her fingers tracing gentle patterns on your back as if grounding herself in this moment.
Her voice softens, barely audible against your skin. âYou know, I never thought Iâd be lucky enough to find someone whoâd want me like this,â she admits, her voice thick with emotion. âBut you⊠youâre everything.â
You pull back to look at her, your fingers brushing through her hair as you lean down to kiss her, slow and deep. Her arms tighten around you, pulling you even closer as if she never wants to let go.
As you lie together, wrapped in each other, the city below fades away, leaving only the two of you, and a new promise that stretches as endless as the stars above.
You pull back slightly, feeling a grin tug at the corners of your mouth as you look into her wide, sparkling eyes. Her fingers are still tracing along your back, but you reach into your own pocket, heart pounding as you remember the surprise youâd been carrying with you, waiting for the right momentâhoping, somehow, sheâd want the same.
âActually⊠I have something for you too,â you say softly, pulling out a small ring box and popping it open to reveal the ring youâd picked out for her.
Jinxâs eyes go wide, and then she throws her head back, bursting into laughterâa wild, joyous laugh that seems to echo into the night, filling the rooftop with her energy. She wraps her arms around you, pulling you close as her laughter vibrates against you, her eyes shining with delight.
âOh, youâve got to be kidding me!â she gasps between laughs, barely able to keep it together as she looks at you, pure happiness radiating from her. âWe really are perfect for each other, arenât we?â
You laugh with her, wrapping your arms around her and burying your face in her shoulder, feeling her warmth and her heartbeat thrumming against yours. She lifts her head, meeting your gaze with a grin thatâs soft yet brimming with excitement. âAlright, show me what youâve got, babe,â she teases, still laughing.
With hands only slightly less shaky, you slide the ring onto her finger, her laughter turning into a warm, contented smile as she looks down at it. âNow itâs official,â she murmurs, her voice filled with awe as she squeezes your hand, her thumb brushing over the ring. âIâm yours.â
And then she pulls you down beside her again, holding you tightly as if afraid to let go, your shared laughter eventually quieting into soft murmurs as the two of you lie tangled together, fingers intertwined, hearts racing, your promises shining just as bright as the stars above.

SAN
san found himself attempting to hide his smile while you told him about your awful date from a few days ago. you were laying down with your head on his lap as san casually untangled strands of your hair, while you rambled on and on about the misfortunes he secretly thought were fortunes in disguise.
âwho talks about their mother on the first date? like the whole time i mean, of course itâs okay to mention one or two things following the context of the conversationâ you said, moving your hands dramatically to prove your point âbut the whole time? i tried to switch the topic of the conversation towards work and can you believe he told me about what his mother does for a living before telling me what HE does for HIS?â
san couldnât help but let out a loud laugh. you were so cute and he was so happy and relieved that the date had failed.
âhe should go to therapyâ he said, in between giggles. âright?! sigmund freud would have been thrilled to have him as a patientâ you exclaimed, laughing too.
after a few moments of cracking jokes and laughing about the situation, you turned your head to face san. âso what about you?â you asked. he looked down at you, smile on his face still. âwhat about me?â
âhave you gone on dates lately?â you asked. he threw his head back, shaking it slightly âwith what time? iâm too busy with schedulesâ he answered, half lying. itâs true that heâs very busy with his idol duties, but he always managed to make time for you. he knows he could easily use up that time to go on dates, but for obvious reasons that you still were ignorant to, he didnât. to you, he was just an introvert.
âbut are you not interested in anyone?â you pushed, lifting your head and sitting up to face him properly. san chose to avoid your eyes, not trusting himself to keep his own secret. instead, he looked to the city on his right, suddenly finding the building architectures more interesting. he noticed that the air in the terrace got warmer too, and the concrete platform you were sitting on got harder. or was he the one that got warmer and stiffer? âno, i donât think soâ he lied, but you knew him enough to see through it. âliar, youâre blushingâ
âwell it is an intimate questionâ he answered, attempting to smile in order to play it off. you shook your head no âyou blushed and your left eye twitched a bit. that was definitely a lie and as your best friend i want to know!â you exclaimed, grabbing his hands. if only you knew the effect you had on him.
when he came back from tour, he was determined to confess. but now that the perfect opportunity arose, he couldnât open his mouth. questions and different negative scenarios plagued his mind, convincing him that maybe it was a bad idea. he much rather work on moving on than lose you as a friend.
âare they that special to you?â you asked, in a much quieter tone of voice, noticing his silence. he nodded, staring at your eyes, hoping you could notice the love they held whenever he looked at you. but despite his desperation, you didnât. âthey are very lucky then, you genuinely are amazing in every aspect sannieâ. you continued, going back to your original place with your head on his lap, but still holding his hands. he kept staring at you, if only you knew.
âthank youâ san managed to say.
âââ
âhow fast can you come over to help me with something?â you asked san on the phone, as he exited the practice room. it was like the stars aligned, because he had just finished for the day. âi can come over right now, are you okay?â he asked, worried something may be wrong despite you sounding relatively okay. âi canât pick an outfit and- shit my aunt his calling me, invite yourself in when you arrive, iâm in my room and you already know the lock number of the doorâ you said, before hanging up.
outfit for what?
âââ
so thatâs how san found himself sitting on your bed on a friday night, numerous pieces of clothing scattered all over without care. he scrolled through some unread messages while he waited for you to try on a different outfit for your new date. yes, new date. as if his heart havenât just healed from last time.
âi matched with someone on this app and they immediately invited me on a date so now iâm having a fashion crisisâ you had explained to him as soon as he entered your room. why was it so hard for you to realize that your dates have been failing for a reason?
you appeared once again, now wearing an outfit that honestly took sanâs breath away as soon as his eyes landed on your figure. it was nothing too extravagant, actually, it was rather simple, but it was enough to make sanâs head spiral. specially when you twirled around to show the outfit from the back, since your shirt had an open back.
âso? what do we think?â you asked, eyes filled with hope.
san was conflicted: he was 100% sure he has never seen anyone look more beautiful, more dashing, more perfect. but, it wasnât for him. he didnât want anyone else to look at you like that, they would never come remotely close to the way he feels about you.
âsan-?â you started to ask after a few seconds of silence, but got interrupted by him: âdonât go on that dateâ
you looked at him confused, as he stared back with the same surprised face. that really had slipped from his lips before he realized what he was saying. you fucked up big time san, he thought to himself.
âwhy? do i really look that bad?â you asked, turning around to face the mirror in order to examine your body and face. he noticed the way your eyes dimmed, as you carefully traced your eyes over your figure, finding little imperfections that made your face turn into a sad frown. san felt his own heart shatter at the sight, and before he knew, he stood up and quickly hugged you from behind, hiding his face in the crook of your neck.
âsannie?â you asked, startled by his sudden action and making you momentarily forget about the insecurities that started flooding your mind. you looked at him through the mirror: even if he was leaning down on you, he was still much wider, making you feel very small in his arms. unconsciously, you lifted your hand and patted his hair. san lifted his head, looking at you through the mirror as well, and your eyes interlocked.
âyouâre perfect y/nâ he whispered. âiâm sorry if i gave you the wrong idea, you look beautiful and your date is very luckyâ. he was trying to be supportive, but traces of sadness and desperation were evident in his face. enough for you to notice. you turned around, and the same hand that was patting his head went down to his cheek, holding him in place to look at you.
âwhatâs wrong san?â you asked, softly. your thumb traced comforting circles on his cheek, and you could feel his arms tighten around you as he closed his eyes.
âgo on that dateâ he whispered in a shaky voice, before adding âyou look beautifulâ.
you stared at him confused for a few moments, not really knowing what to say. then, he kissed your forehead and, with the little bit of strenght he had left in him, unwrapped his arms, stepping back. he grabbed his jacket and went to the door, but not before shooting you another sad look and saying âlike i said, your date is very luckyâ.
he left, heart in his hands, slowly breaking with each step.
you cancelled the date.
âââ
san couldnât sleep that night, he kept tossing and turning as his mind wandered about what you were doing with your date. were you still having dinner? no, probably not since itâs like 2 am. maybe it went so well that you invited them over for coffee at your place, something that will probably lead to something else. something he didnât even want to imagine, since it wasnât him committing those sins.
maybe it was time to move on, after all. he wants you to be happy, truly, so if your happiness doesnât include him, then he should at least be supportive. and in order to do that from the bottom of his heart, he should move-
*knock knock knock* he heard, coming from the door. he decided to ignore it, thinking that it was probably mingi, so he turned around and closed his eyes, pretending he was asleep.
âmaybe heâs asleep, i should come back tomorrow but thank you soenghwaâ he heard you say from behind the door. he never got out of bed faster, as he sprinted to the door and opened it widely.
there you stood, now dressed in a familiar oversized shirt and baggy pants. completely different from the outfit he last saw you on, but to him you still looked beautiful. you looked at him with wide eyes, as seonghwa smirked next to you.
âiâll leave you aloneâ he said, before he made his way to his room and shut the door behind him.
you stood there awkwardly, avoiding his eyes. you came here with a question, but now that you had san right in front of you, thoughts were scattered all over your mind and you couldnât say a word.
âcome inâ he said, sensing your internal dilemma. you nodded in response, as you entered and made your way to his unmade bed.
âdid i wake you up?â you asked. san shut the door and shook his head âactually i couldnât sleepâ
âme neitherâ you said in a low voice.
âhow was your date?â he asked, unsure of what to say. he sat next to you on the bed, looking at you while trying to decipher your expression. you turned your head to sanâs bedside table, finding the small plushie you once gifted him randomly. you smiled. âi cancelled itâ
âwhat? why?!â he asked, with surprised wide eyes. you turned back to him. âi suddenly didnât want to go, thatâs it really. so while i was tidying up my room i found this shirtâ you said, fiddling with the ends of the shirt that looked a little too big on you âthe one you once lent me after we got stuck in the rain that one time. i told you i would wash it and give it back, but i didnât. why didnât i give it back to you?â
san stared at you in silence.
âso i realized it still had your perfume, and before i knew it, i had put it on. then i started thinking about you, about us. youâre my best friend, you know? but as i was laying down on my bed, i was thinking: what if you were not? what if my dates always failed for a reason?â you continued, as your fingers reached for his. âwhat if the reason they always failed was because i always searched you in them? so again, before i realized i was standing in front of your apartment, but with one question in my mindâ
san could feel his heart beat increase and his breath shorten.
âwhat will happen to us and our friendship if i told you how i feel? how i think i always felt even if i didnât know it?â you asked, looking at him scared.
âyouâre dumbâ he said, loud enough for only you to hear. that didnât surprise you, what did was the way he immediately let go of your hand in order to hug you close, bringing you closer to his body. âwhat will happen? how would i feel? y/n youâre dumb because thatâs how iâve been feeling for a long time nowâ he said, hands leaving your waist and craddling your face. san stared at you, and now you realized that his eyes looked different: they held love in them. something you always searched on random people in dating apps, yet were never able to find. instead, it has been right in front of you this whole time.
âi love youâ he whispered, pressing his forehead against yours. finally, he thought. he finally said the words he has been keeping locked deeply inside him for years. you smiled, as your nose touched his. âi love you too, iâm sorry i just realizedâ
maybe it was time to give you the silver necklace he bought you on tour, since now the timing was right.
MINGI
mingi missed you, a lot. he hadnât heard from you since you stormed out of his house a week and a half ago. he had left you a couple of texts apologizing, and even attempted calling you, but to no avail. you had disappeared, and he didnât blame you, he was stupid enough to let you go. in fact, thatâs the thing he regretted the most about the fight: not chasing after you.
so he did what he knew best: he took his misery and transformed it into work, to be precise, he wrote three songs, all about his feelings, the situation in itself and you.
three different scenarios that made him hear yunhoâs voice calling him dramatic in his mind. to be honest, he knew he was being a little dramatic about the situation. he knew that you probably just needed time to cool down, and that if his apology was good enough you would forgive him in a heart beat, because, in the end, he knew you loved him. maybe not in the way he wished for, but you loved him nonetheless.
mingi stared at the ceiling in silence, wondering what were you doing while he layed on his bed feeling miserable. did you miss him too? were you also thinking about him? he was certain of one thing only: he wanted to see you. it didnât matter to him if you opened the door or not, he needed to at least hear your voice through the door.
he checked the time: 11:47 pm, almost midnight. fuck it, he thought. he stood up and quickly got dressed in a speed record time, tied up his shoes and grabbed his keys and song notebook in the process. by 11:55 pm he was already closing the door of his car.
as mingi started driving, questions also started flooding his mind: will you hate him if he suddenly showed up? what if you had invited someone over? shouldnât he have discussed this with one of his friends first just in case?
questions, questions, questions.
no answers.
soon enough, he found himself standing in front of your apartment door. he could easily ring the door bell, knock on the door or simply use the spare key you gave him once for emergencies. yet, he was unable to do any, frozen in place as he mentally debated on what to do.
mingi decided to do something odd, something he would have probably laughed at if he saw it in one of the movies you usually forced him to watch with you: he took out his pen and notebook, ripped off one of the pages and wrote on it. then, he slid it under the door and left.
âiâll tell you everything -mâ
âââ
you have always been a hopeless romantic, mingi knew that perfectly well. you believed in happy endings, and that love and friendship can win over everything. so why hasnât he heard from you still? did you not get the note? should he leave another one? no, that would be too pushy, it was only two days ago.
questions, questions, questions.
still no answers.
mingi was sulking again, and honestly it started to worry seonghwa and san, who watched as he walked back to his room right after dinner, without saying a word during the whole night. honestly, he was just too lost in his thoughts. their pair exchanged a look, before following him.
âmingi, hold up, everything okay? youâre more⊠distracted than usualâ seonghwa said, carefully choosing his words. mingi hummed in response, nodding as he stopped in his tracks. âyeah, thereâs just a lot in my headâ he answered, not looking at his friends. âlet us hear it thenâ san said, patting his back and leading them towards the living room.
the trio sat down on the sofa they had bought a few months ago, the one you had scolded them about because it seemed very expensive and too hard to clean. they had all laughed, but soon enough realized you were right when mingi spilled a bit of sauce on it. the stain was still there.
âso? whatâs wrong?â seonghwa asked once they all got comfortable. mingi sighed, looking down before he started spilling everything that had happened, from two weeks ago until now. he noticed the eldest nodding along the story, but neither of them said anything until he finished.
âwhen exactly did you leave this note?â san asked, fidgeting with his bracelet. âtwo days agoâ mingi answered. sanâs eyes went wide, as he muttered a small fuck before he sprinted towards the kitchen. seonghwa and mingi exchanged a look, both equally confused at their friendâs actions. after a few moments and very weird sounds that came from the kitchen, san appeared again, with a crumbled up yellow post it in his hand. he handed it to mingi.
âthe hell is this? it has food stains san, grossâ mingi said with a disgusted face as he barely touched the paper. âopen it, i found it this morningâ san said, sitting down next to him again. mingi gave his friends a strange look, before carefully opening the crumbled up piece of paper. as he read, his eyes widened in surprise.
âwhat time is it?!â he exclaimed. â9 pmâ seonghwa answered, checking the time in his phone. mingi muttered a small fuck, before putting his shoes on, and grabbing his bag.
âiâll be back in a whileâ he said, before shutting the door behind him.
seonghwa looked at san, confused. âwhat the hell did the paper say?â he asked. san picked it up from the floor and showed it to him:
â8 pm, our special placeâ.
the hand writing was yours.
âââ
mingi was almost sure he broke one or two speeding laws on his way to the park where he hoped you were still waiting at. he cursed san for not telling him sooner, even if he knew it wasnât really his fault to begin with. the park wasnât far from his apartment though, just a short 10 minute drive. as cliche as it sounds, it was the park were you both met.
at that time, around 6 years ago or so, his mind revolved around perfection, hard work, pressure, debut. so he would succumb to overwhelming feelings pretty often, that forced him to need some time alone. thatâs how he found a park nearby, and specifically, one peculiar tree that caught his attention for some reason. he used to sit down under it, notebook on his lap and pen between his fingers, as he scribbled down some random thoughts that plagued his mind during hard moments. he didnât really plan to turn his words into songs yet, it was just his way to deal with stress. he used to find these little moments very special: it was like he was reconnecting with his inner, truer self, and not the mean facade he wore in front of his soon to be members. yeah, some of them irked him, like that wooyoung guy, but he didnât mean to be that rude all the time. so, to escape the constant pressure kq fellaz was facing in between the company walls, he found solace in a park, but specifically, he found solace under that tree.
he could remember the day he met you like it was yesterday. he remembers all the stress he was feeling, debut date coming closer and closer. everyone was on edge, from the members to the staff. he had also recently come back from morocco after successfully shooting his first music video! but he couldnât deny it: as much as he was excited, he was already feeling a little tired. he needed some alone time, just himself with his thoughts. so he found himself walking towards his favorite spot in the park.
only to find you there, sitting down under the tree. his tree to be precise. and you were writing on a pink notebook with a fluffy pen. mingi felt like he was looking at a reflection of himself, but instead of being comforted by it, he felt annoyed. it was HIS tree after all!
âexcuse me, this is my spotâ he said, coming into your field of vision. you looked up to him, pausing your hand and taking an earphone off. âexcuse me?â
âthis is my spotâ he reiterated, making you chuckle slightly. âthe tree you mean? does it have your name or something?â you asked, finding the situation hilarious. he rolled his eyes in annoyance, why did nothing go his way?! âlisten, i had a shitty day and i need to sit there for a while, so can you leave?â
âno, i got here first. plus there are tons of other trees here, itâs a park after allâ you said, putting your earphone back on and turning your gaze to your notebook. he stayed still in his place in front of you, making you huff in annoyance at his persistence. âlook dude, i am not going to move. you can either sit on the opposite side or leave, i donât care but stop bothering meâ you continued.
mingi really really reaaaally needed to be at his safe place, too overwhelmed to funcion rationally, so he rolled his eyes and sat on the opposite side of the tree.
thatâs how the story started: at opposite sides of the tree. soon enough it got replaced by sitting nearby, and eventually next to each other. some times you would even bring snacks to share in silence, as you both wrote down your thoughts on your respective notebooks. once he debuted, he broke the silence for the first time, urging you to listen to his song. after that, you started talking more, about music, shows, your respective jobs and life in itself. the safe place you both found under the tree, was also found in each other, quickly realizing you often shared the same thoughts and views about the world.
the story started under a tree, and he hoped it wouldnât end there too. he needed you to be there, because he wasnât ready to lose not only his best friend, but also his safe place. even the tree would become stained from the pain. and he would have nothing left, just questions, questions, and more questions about different what ifs.
you werenât there.
but mingi wasnât about to give up anytime soon. he started running towards the direction of your apartment, forgetting that he had parked the car on the opposite direction. his legs were aching, and he felt like he was a bit out of breath, despite all the idol training he has been enduring for six years. but he kept running.
until he spot you in the distance.
ây/n!â he yelled. he saw you stop in your tracks and turn around to his direction, confused at the sudden call of your name. once you spotted him running towards you, you sprinted to him.
his body collapsed against yours, as he hugged you tightly, like you would disappear if he let you go. mingi hid his face in the crook of your neck as you wrapped your arms around his back. you could hear his quick heart beat from how close he held you, and you were sure he could hear yours too.
after a while, mingi lifted his head from your neck, and looked at you. âwhy are you crying?â he asked, wiping away the tears with his thumbs. âi thought you wouldnât come, why are you crying mingi?â you asked, repeating his own actions, but on his cheeks. he giggled, he didnât even realize he was crying. âi thought i lost youâ he said, truthfully.
the park was dark, the only lights came from street lights. so, for outsiders, you probably looked like a random couple having a dramatic moment. definitely not mingi from idol group ateez and his best friend y/n reconciliating.
âiâm sorryâ he whispered, locking his eyes with yours. they still held tears, that threatened to spill depending on your answer. you shook your head âno, iâm sorry mings, i shouldnât have walked away like that. plus i didn't even give you a chance to explainâ.
âiâm sorry for not showing you the songs, for not chasing you, and for being too much of a coward to not face you directlyâ he apologized. you hugged him again, shushing him. âi shouldnât have pressured you to show me, you donât have to do anything you donât want to doâ
mingi looked at you again, and bit his lip. âcan i still show you though?â
âitâs not necessary, mingi, itâs fine real-â you started saying before he interrupted you, taking your hand and leading you towards the same old place from before. âi want toâ he said, determined.
you let him whisk you away.
âââ
back at the peculiar tree that was iluminated enough by a street lamp a few meters away, he sat you down at your usual spot. he sat down beside you, as he pulled out his notebook from his bag. mingi gave it to you.
âmingi, this really isnât necessary-â you started saying once again. âpleaseâ he interrupted, with pleading eyes. so you took his notebook and opened it on the first page. you already read that song, it was the first one he ever wrote a long while back. âread the last onesâ
you turned the pages, until you found them. mingi looked at you nervously, starting to feel fidgety at the thought of you realizing his deepest secret, the only one he hid from you. he just hoped you wouldnât hate him. he scanned your face, puffy eyes filling with tears once again as realization hit you. you turned your gaze back to him with wide, surprised eyes.
âmingi- what? wait, hold onâ you stammered, as tears fell from your eyes. you quickly set his notebook aside to grab your own bag, taking out your new pink notebook, your diary. you handed it to him, saying: âopen it on august 5thâ
he stared at you confused, and slightly unsure too, since youâve always been pretty secretive about what you wrote there. he found the page and read:
âaugust 5th.
so i realized something, that iâm almost too afraid to write even here. iâm scared that if i admit it, iâll have to face a sad reality. i think iâm in love with my best friend, isnât that stupid? thatâs how i feel, at least. i havenât seen him in a while because of his work, and i feel like iâm slowly losing my mind. why do i only feel complete when heâs with me? scratch that, why am i even writing this?
anyways, iâll probably die with the secretâ
ânow turn to september 16thâ you said, avoiding his eyes.
âseptember 16th.
iâm in love with my best friend. i love mingi. how insane is that? and how stupid? he is my best friend, for godâs sake. but i canât help the way i feel, specially when heâs so annoyingly observant. like for example, the other day he noticed my pen was dying, so today he surprised me with a new fluffy pink pen. i hate him for making my heart swell at such gestures. specially because i know I KNOW thatâs what best friends do.
anyways iâm not gonna use his pen because i decided iâm going to preserve it foreverâ
âand now, tun to november 10thâ you muttered. mingi realized it was yesterdayâs date.
ânovember 10th.
i still love him. and i fucked up. but iâm still in love with himâ
he closed your notebook, turning towards you. he found you with your face on your knees, as you hugged your legs, too embarrassed to face him, despite now knowing his feelings. he loves you too, with the same devotion, with the same desperation and intensity. mingi loves you, his best friend.
âlook at me, y/nâ he whispered. you slowly lifted your head, hesitantly looking at him. the way you both looked at each other held more intimacy than ever. mingi slowly reached for you, bringing your face closer to his. his hold was shaky, almost unsure, this was a whole new territory. he took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
âi love youâ he admitted.
too many questions, that finally got an answer.
âi love you tooâ you whispered.

âWhat do you think of this one?â Wanda asks, opening the dressing room door.
âIt looks cute, but can I adjust it a little?â You asked.
âSure!â She answers with a smile.
She stepped aside, allowing you inside of the dressing room. You closed and locked the door behind you. You bit your bottom lip like you were thinking, but little did Wanda know that you have something in mind.
âFace the mirror.â You tell her.
Wanda turned around, looking at you in the mirror. You acted like you were adjusting the skirt she was trying on. One of your hands made its way to the front of her body, disappearing under the skirt. A gasp left Wandaâs lips when your fingers grazed her pussy over her panties.
âWhat- What are you doing?â Wanda asks, stuttering.
âHelping a friend out.â You whispered in her ear.
A shiver went through her body. Wanda didnât protest. She let it happen. You moved her panties to the side. Your fingers rubbed in between her folds to her clit, feeling how wet she is.
âOh my godâŠâ She moans softly, trying not to be loud.
You slid two fingers in her pussy, moving them at a decent pace. Your free hand bunched the skirt up above her hips. Wanda watched in the mirror as your fingers fucked her.
âFeels good, doesnât it?â You say in her ear.
âMhmm.â She hums, nodding her head.
A gasp left her lips when your fingers hit her sweet spot. Wanda quickly put her hand over her mouth to muffle her moans so no one heard her. You smirked to yourself.
âToo bad we arenât at the Compound so you can moan and scream my name right now.â You almost whispered. âI bet thatâs what you want to do, huh?â You say seductively.
Wanda nodded her head yes. You lightly chuckled and quickened your movements with your fingers. Your thumb rubbed her clit a little faster. Wandaâs free hand reached down and grabbed your wrist to keep it there and for something to hold on to. Her nails dug into your skin.
âF-Feels so good.â Wanda moans in her hand, tilting her head back against your shoulder.
âI bet it does.â You mused, biting your bottom lip.
Your fingers continued their movements. Wandaâs eyes fluttered shut, enjoying the feeling of your fingers fucking her pussy. She took her hand off of her mouth to say something, but it was incoherent.
âHmm? What was that? Can you say that again?â You asked in a soft hum.
âFaster please.â Wanda managed to say coherently.
âYour wish is my command, baby.â You say.
Your fingers sped up their thrusts, along with the rubbing of your thumb on her clit. Wanda quickly covered her mouth with her hand again. Her eyes nearly rolled to the back of her head. Her breathing got heavier. Her pussy clenched around your fingers when your fingers hit her sweet spot.
âF-FuckâŠâ She moans into her hand.
Wanda lifted her head off of your shoulder to look in the mirror. Her eyes looked down at your fingers fucking her. The sight of it is hot. She felt her orgasm building up. She wasnât sure hot much she could take.
âI-Iâm- mmm!â She moans, unable to form coherent words.
âGonna cum?â She asked in a cooing voice.
Wanda moans into her hand and nodded her head yes in response.
âCum for me.â You whispered in her ear.
That was enough to send her over the edge. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head as she came on your fingers. Her moans were muffled by her hand when she moaned your name. Your fingers fucked her through her orgasm. Your thumb gave her clit one last rub before pulling your fingers out of her pussy and putting her panties back in place. Wanda panted and looked at you in the mirror as you licked her cum off of your fingers, moaning at the taste.
âOh my godâŠâ Wanda says breathlessly, watching you lick her cum off of your fingers.
âââ
âToo bad Wanda had to go on a mission and couldnât see this movie with us. It wouldâve been nice to have her here with us.â Natasha says.
âI know right. What a shame.â You say with a playful pout.
You and Natasha decided to go to the movies. You wanted until the theater darkened and the only light that filled the theater was the giant screen in front of you two before you made a move. Yours and Natashaâs seats were towards the back of the theater. There wasnât many people in yours and her area of the theater so it was perfect for what you had in mind.
You put your hand on her knee. Natasha took it as a friendly gesture and didnât think much of it. You slowly moved your hand upwards towards her covered pussy, stopping on her thigh first and gave it a squeeze, catching Natasha off guard.
âWhat are you doing?â She whispers, looking at you.
âIâm not doing anything. Iâm just watching the movie.â You answered innocently.
Natasha turned her attention back to the movie screen. Your hand moved upwards to her covered pussy, rubbing it through her jeans. Her breath got caught in her throat, making you smirk to yourself. Your fingers unbuttoned and unzipped her jeans. You slid your hand in her panties, feeling how wet she is. Natasha opened her mouth to ask you what youâre doing again, but she didnât want to question you. She continued to watch the movie, thinking you wonât take it any further. Little did she know what you had in your mind right now.
Your fingers circled her clit. She let out a shaky breath. She leaned forward to take her jacket off and laid it across her lap so no one saw what you were doing to her. Your fingers rubbed against and in between her folds, getting your fingers wet with her slick. Your fingers circled her clit a few more times before moving them to her entrance. You slid two fingers in her pussy. Natasha stifled a moan by biting her bottom lip. You could tell that she was nervous about you fucking her with your fingers in public so you leaned over towards her to whisper in her ear.
âThereâs no need to be nervous.â You whispered in her ear. âJust try to relax and watch the movie.â You whispered again.
Natasha nodded. Your fingers began thrusting in and out of her pussy. She covered her mouth with her hand to muffle her moans, even though her moans were also muffled by her biting her bottom lip. Your thumb began rubbing her clit. She clamped her legs shut on your hand. You softly chuckled.
âKeep your legs open.â You tell her very softly.
Natasha opened her legs back up. She spread them as wide as she could. The arms of the chair stopped her from spreading her legs any further. She tried her hardest to focus on the movie, but couldnât due to you fucking her with your fingers. Her head fell back against the headrest of the chair and her eyes fluttered shut, enjoying the feeling of your fingers rubbing along her walls.
âWatch the movie, babe.â You whispered in her ear.
Natasha whimpered quietly before lifting her head. She tried to focus on the movie again, but couldnât. She was too focused on what you were doing to her.
âGood girl.â You praised softly.
Natasha moaned into her hand when you praised her. A loud sound in the movie helped cover her moan so no one heard her. Her free hand held onto the arm of the chair, digging her nails into the leather when your fingers sped up their movements. She grinded her pussy against your hand, wanting more and without realizing it. She was basically silently begging you for more. You obeyed her command and gave her more.
Your thumb applied more pressure to her clit as you rubbed it. Your fingers also sped up their thrusts. Natashaâs eyes nearly rolled to the back of her head when your fingers hit her sweet spot a couple times in a row. You then curled your fingers. Her pussy clenched around your fingers at the feeling. You grinned to yourself when you found her sweet spot with ease.
âI can feel you getting close.â You whispered in her ear, sending a shiver through her body. âI bet youâre so fucking close.â You say in a teasing voice.
âYes!â Natasha gasps quietly.
âCum for me.â You whispered seductively, curling your fingers and hitting her sweet spot again.
Thatâs all it took for Natasha to fall over the edge. She came so hard that she soaked your fingers. Your fingers fucked her through her orgasm. Your thumb gave her clit one last rub before you pulled your fingers out of her pussy. You took your hand out of her panties and jeans. Natasha looked at you, panting softly as you licked her cum off of your fingers. You winked at her before turning your attention back to the movie.
âHoly shitâŠâ Natasha whispers to herself, making you smirk to yourself.
âââ
âHey, Sarge.â You greeted Bucky and sat down next to him in the booth. âSorry Iâm late.â You apologized, kissing his cheek.
âNo need to apologize, doll. I ordered your favorite drink.â Bucky says.
âYouâre the best!â You smiled at the Super Soldier.
You took a sip of your drink and turned towards Bucky.
âTell me about your day.â You say.
âWe work together, doll. You already know about my day.â He says with a light chuckle.
âI know, but I wasnât with you when you were training the new recruits.â You say, taking another sip of your drink.
âOk. WellâŠâ Bucky tells you how well the new recruits were today.
As Bucky was talking, you put your hand on his thigh. Bucky took it as a friendly gesture and continued telling you about his day training the new recruits. You slid your hand up his thigh, moving it towards his cock.
âWhat- What are you doing?â Bucky asks nervously, looking down at your hand.
âIâm not doing anything, Bucky. Iâm just listening to you talk.â You say innocently.
The innocent sound of your voice went straight to his cock. Buckyâs breath hitched in his throat when you palmed his hard cock through his jeans. He was finding it difficult to talk with your hand on his covered cock. You took another sip of your drink before sliding off of your seat and went underneath the table. Buckyâs eyes went wide when you unbuckled his belt, but he didnât stop you. You unbuttoned and unzipped his jeans. His hard cock was clear as day just by looking at his boxers. You reached your hand in his boxers and pulled out his hard cock.
Bucky looked around the bar, making sure no one was looking or walking towards where the booth you and Bucky are in. He leaned back in the booth, looking down at you. You looked up at him innocently and bit your bottom lip, stroking his cock in your hand. Your tongue kitten licked his tip. You moan softly to yourself when you tasted his precum.
âYouâre so big, Bucky.â You say seductively.
Bucky felt turned on by the innocent and seductive sound of your voice. You sucked on his tip for a short moment before moving your mouth further down on his cock. He sucked in a sharp breath when he felt your tongue against the underside of his cock. You then kitten licked and sucked on his tip before putting his cock in your mouth.
Bucky watched intently as you bobbed your head. He couldnt help but reach a hand down and grabbed a handful of your hair, pulling on it as you sucked his cock. You moaned at the feeling of him pulling your hair. You glanced up at Bucky, making eye contact with him. Bucky couldâve came on the spot with the innocent look in your eyes.
âF-FuckâŠâ Bucky cursed under his breath.
Bucky made sure not to make any kind of noise as you sucked his cock. He would if you two were alone in the privacy of his bedroom. He wasnât sure what has gotten into you, but heâs not complaining.
His tip hit the back of your throat, making you gag. Bucky looked around the bar to make sure no one looked over at you guys or heard you when you gagged on his cock, which no one did.
You momentarily took his cock out of your mouth to catch your breath. Your hand moved up and down on his cock as you looked up at him with a seductive look on your face.
âYouâre enjoying this, arenât you, Buck?â You say seductively.
Bucky nodded his head. You bit your bottom lip as you continued to stroke his cock in your hand for a few more seconds before putting it back in your mouth. You braced yourself and took his full size in your mouth. You steadied yourself by holding onto his thighs. Buckyâs hand remained on the back of your head. Also making sure you didnât hit your head on the underside of the table.
Bucky bit back a moan when he felt your tongue against the underside of his cock. His eyes closed and he titled his back, enjoying the feeling of your tongue and mouth on his cock. You took his cock out of your mouth and stroked it in your hand momentarily.
âEyes on me, Sarge.â You ordered, tapping his thigh.
Bucky opened his eyes and looked down at you.
âGood boy.â You praised.
Bucky watched intently as you licked from the base of his cock to his tip. You did that a couple more times before putting his cock back in your mouth. Bucky quickly put his free hand over his mouth when he felt your fingers rubbing his balls. His eyes nearly rolled to the back of his head. His hips thrusted upwards, making his cock go further in your mouth and hit the back of your throat.
âDo- Do thatâs again, doll.â Bucky begs quietly.
Your fingers rubbed his balls more, adding a little more pressure this time. That nearly sent Bucky over the edge. He could feel his orgasm building up.
âIâm so close. Please donât stop.â He says quietly.
You continued to bob your head on his cock, helping him get closer to coming. Saliva pooled in your mouth. A little bit of it came out of your mouth and rolled down your chin.
âFuck, fuck, fuck!â He whispers.
Bucky came in your mouth. You moaned when he came in your mouth. A little bit of his cum, rolled down your chin. You then took his cock out of your mouth, breathing heavily. Bucky quickly put his cock back in his boxers, buttoning and zipping up his jeans. He was quick to buckle his belt too. You got out from underneath the table and sat down next to Bucky like you just didnât suck his cock under the table.
Bucky looked at you, watching closely as you wiped his cum off of your chin with your thumb and licked it off of it.
âFuck me.â Bucky mumbles.
âOh so now youâre asking for that, Sergeant.â You say seductively in his ear.
Bucky groans softly and tilts his head back. You giggled softly and kissed his bearded cheek.
âJust admit it. You enjoyed me sucking your cock in public.â You whispered seductively in his ear.
âYou have no idea how much I enjoyed that, babydoll.â He says, reminiscing what just happened in his mind right now.

sunlight in burgundy | azriel x reader
Summary: Velaris is a place of healing, so no wonder you ended up at the House of Wind. However, you didn't expect to be welcomed by a gentle male and a leather-bound book.
a/n: i don't know what this is!!! just wanted to write and this came out. enjoy!!
Mahogany doors greeted your view, colossal and menacing, hiding anything and everything from your sight. With a deep breath and shaking hands you pushed the doors open. Sunlight greeted you, seeping in from rounded windows that seemed to take up the whole wall. They were open, their burgundy curtains fluttering in the wind. You took in the room with wide eyes, noting the shelves of books, the greenery hanging from the ceiling and winding around the furniture, the matching chairs that held a figure. A sharp breath entered your lungs as you noticed him, his hazel eyes already tracking you.Â
âHello,â he murmured, voice crackling like wood on a fire, his thin, leathery wings shifting ever so slightly as the word left him. You stood still like a deer in the eye of a hunter, afraid to move, afraid to breathe. Of course, the first time you dared to leave your room since you were saved and you had to come across another soul.
âUm,â you stuttered, voice stuck within your throat. âHi.â His lips curved up in a slight smile, thumb marking his page as he shut the book he was reading.
âHow are you?â You took a miniscule step backward, your gaze never leaving his form, hackles on high alert. He wasnât a threat, you knew that, yet your body reacted otherwise.
âUm,â fell from your lips once again. You blinked slowly, eyes darting down to the book in his hand before landing back upon his face. He followed your line of sight with a quirked brow and a gentle expression as he shifted in his seat, bringing his book up from his lap.
âWere you looking for one of these?â You nodded and swallowed the lump that had settled in your throat before taking a tentative step forward, despite your body screaming at you to run away. He became molasses as he stood, his movements smooth and still in an attempt not to spook you.
âWhat kind of book are you looking for?â One glance over your shoulder at the doors led you to the knowledge that they had shut behind you and that it would not be a quick escape, but for some reason, your frosted heart was starting to warm. You did want a book, after all. Maybe taking his advice wouldnât be so bad.
âI just want a, uh, a book.â Your voice came out weaker than expected, a wince taking over your body at the softness you were displaying in front of this winged stranger. He didnât comment on it, though. Rather, he nodded, and the shadows that seemed to surround him moved. A gasp fell from your lips without consequence, eyes nearly bulging out of your head as you watched them disappear down the aisles of books. When you glanced back at him, he was still watching; observing you, looking for something, but you didnât know what.Â
âI control them.â He spoke, jolting you out of your bewilderment. âI am a Shadowsinger.â You hummed, no words slithered up your throat, just awe. You had never met a Shadowsinger before. To be fair, you had actually never met a winged fae before. There were a lot of firsts happening for you in this moment.
âW-what do they do?â You whispered after a beat, catching the shadows in the corner of your eye as they came back to their master with something in hand. He smiled softly, just a tilt of his lips as youâve seen before, and he took the item from his shadowsâ cool grasp.
âThey tell me things. Intel, mostly. They also help with moments like this. Here.â He held out the item, and now with the sun shining down on his glove-clad hand, you could tell that he was holding a leather-bound book. âItâs one of my favorites.â You nodded, eyes flitting between him and his outstretched hand.Â
There was still a decent amount of distance between the two of youâdistance that you were afraid to make disappear. However, if you wanted that book and the safety of your room back, you would have to move forward. You took a step toward him, and then one more, heart rabbiting in your chest as you extended unfounded trust to this unknown male. He waited patiently, head bowed, but his eyes never left your face, as if he was physically unable to look away. With a quivering hand you reached out and swiftly snatched the book from his outstretched hand and cradled it to your chest. His eyes twinkled as he let his arm fall limply down by his side.
âThank you.â You murmured, gaze downcast, picking apart the threads in the ornate carpet that adorned the rustic wooden flooring.
âYouâre welcome.â He responded, his voice warm and comforting, drawing you back in. With your line of sight connected once again, his mouth opened and he uttered his name. âIâm Azriel. And you are?âÂ
As you took a step back, your name fell from your lips on an exhale, fingers tightening on the spine of the book almost painfully. With a nod of your head you turned and beelined it for the doors, opening one just a crack so you could slip through. The sunlight and the breeze of Velaris faded away as you hurried back to your room to begin reading your new find, however, the mysterious male seemed to occupy your mind more than the book that he had handed to you. Maybe that chance encounter was not chance at all, but rather fate that bubbled deep within the Cauldron alongside a whisper of your names.

Unexpected â àŒË°.đ.àłàż*:
Extended verison of caught off guard !! Ù©(ËáË*)Ù âĄ
Pairing: Brotherâs best friend!Heeseung x fem!reader
Synopsis: You're shocked to discover that your longtime crush Heeseung is now friends with your brother, leading to a fanfiction-like (literally) story.
Genre/warnings: fluff, little suggestive?, brother's bestfriend, reader is 3 years younger, mention of stalking, alloooottt of teasing, no dividers in between the paragraphs⊠| wc: 25k I think.
đđđ§âđš đŁđ€đ©đ: im so extremely sorry for the ungodly word count I wrote each part separately and forgot to take in consideration the amount of writing I was doing.. The poll said to not make this into parts so I just put it all in one post though!!!!!!! + Masterlist coming soon, request me your suggestions (ïœĄâąÌáŽ-)⧠okay enjoy now
Your brother had made new friends during the first semester because of a lot of senior group projects, which made the house busy. Your brother and his friends wanted more quiet places to work on things, like each other's houses. It's strange that it was always at your house and not his friends' or the library, but whatever.
You didnât mind much, until a particular someone came over, Heeseung, the 6â0 slim brunette senior youâve been crushing on since you were in middle school, now a freshman. You followed him around everywhere with your friends, making it so obvious that you guys were following HIM. You would send him holiday letters provided by the school, stall his social media, follow his friends and him at one point until he removed you over a silly kpop story... everything⊠and now, heâs with your brother?! Since when!
Bad thoughts filled your mind as you remembered all the embarrassing moments he caught you staring at him, thinking that heâd tell your brother all of it if he sees you and finds out that youâre the sister of the guy heâs getting closer to each day. But you were hungry, so hungry, you needed to eat, you always do before taking a nap, itâs like a routine, he canât just ruin your routine. You start making plans on how to get to the kitchen without Heeseung and your brother spotting you. After a few minutes of thinking, you finally build up the courage to get downstairs and pray for the best.
You tip-toe your way down the stairs, attempting to make as little noise as possible, and to your surprise, the two boys are on the island table right across the fridge, youâre doomed, heâs going to see you, you canât just walk back upstairs!
âY/n? What are you doing, you look so stupid right now.â Your brother blurts out which makes you jolt up and fix your posture. Shoot. You forgot that they can see you from their perspective more than you can see them. But you act fast, âhuh? Oh! Hi um.. I was just counting how many steps we have to the stairs.. for a math project!â What the heck was that response? Whatever, itâll do. As you finish your sentence, you give yourself an excuse to get closer so that it doesnât get too awkward, and there he is, the Heeseung of your dreams, locking eyes with you with his stale and cold expression planted on his face, not one tiny bit of shock in his face when seeing you.
âš âHey by the way, donât take a nap, mom wants you to help her with groceries, sheâs coming in a minute, wait in the living room or something just donât go back upstairsâ your brother says before putting all his focus back to the project heâs doing with sousou. At this point, you mutter out a small âokayâ and forget the snack you came downstairs for, heading to the couch to go on your phone and act like nothing happened(secretly glancing at Heeseung from time to time.)
30 minutes later, your mother comes back while your brother and mister take a bathroom break. You head to the garage, opening the door for your mother to bring the groceries in for you to then place them on the counter. Youâre holding big heavy bags, making you groan trying to pick them all up, then all of a sudden, as you're trying to get up, you feel the weight getting lighter and lighter, thinking you're stronger than you thought, but to your surprise⊠It's the dream man helping you. âAre you that lazy? Couldnât you have just picked them one at a time? Hm?â He says as he coughs out a small chuckle, picking up the bags with ease. You canât do anything but stare at him and place them on the table, your lips forming an O but unable to make a sound or blurt any words out. Before you get yourself to say anything, he cuts you off with a âYouâre not slick, we both know exactly why youâre so shyâ whatâŠ????? âIâm not shy at all?! I have no idea what youâre talking about.â You scream before the nervousness gets to you. You never thought your first conversation with Heeseung was going to be like this. âOh yeah? You think I donât know what you do? All the letters you sent me the past 2 years? Common now, Iâm not stupid hhhâŠâ suddenly, he lets go of the bags and gets closer to you, your brother still in the washroom and your mother still outside. His cold expression is still there but with a slight smirk. Your cheeks and nose get red quickly, making him only grin harder as he sees the effect he has on you. âYou wouldnât want your brother to see all the cheesy things youâve done, let alone your mother, hmph? Of course you wouldnât want that, youâre such a nice girl they would never think youâd do that, youâre just a sweet girl who goes to school and hangs out with her friends, definitely doesnât beg them to follow me around, right?â Heâs so close to you, his words only making you blush harder. His eyes shift to the door as he watches your mother call for him âOh hello Heeseung! Would you be a sweetheart and help me with these bags? Y/n, please put the milk away! I forgot something at that store, I need to go back and pick it up.â Of course, the young man quickly obeyed your mother and helped her out, leaving you red and shoving your face in the fridge to cool down, youâre cooked, you have no idea what's taking your brother so long, but it feels like an eternity⊠Since when did LEE HEESEUNG have the courage to say that? Whatâs he gonna say next???? You keep replaying the words he said a few seconds ago, making you go crazy all over again.
Hours later, 22:00, your brother and his friend passed out on the counter of the kitchen as you were laying in bed, bored and unable to think of anything except the incident that happened earlier. Your best friend would always write fanfiction of you and hee as a joke, not thinking anything of it because you knew you were not delusional enough to think a guy 3 years older than you would actually notice you or look your way.
Abruptly, you feel the urge to go to the bathroom, wanting to wash the guilt written all over you face from the amount of overthinking. As you get to the entrance, you notice a black statue from across the hallway, making your heart drop as it walks closer to you. Suddenly, your screams wake up the entire neighborhood, "I'm so sorry! I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I don't know what I did but I'm sorry I'll never wish death upon anyone else who likes Mingyu and joshua! I promise god I'll never ever hope that all S.coups fangirls except me will fall in a hole!" you close your eyes shut as you squeal and think its the end of your days.
Until that skinwalker finally decides to open his mouth and.. "BOO!" Heeseung screams as he shakes your shoulders, not initially intending on scaring you until he realized that you couldn't see his figure. Why did it have to be him again?! "Hey, I'm joking, calm down, you're okay. It's just me. What was all that blabbering about?" he says, again, with his famous chuckle you've probably heard more than actual words from his mouth. "You can't just do that! It's dark, nighttime and it's just annoying!" you wail, feeling surprised that you managed to actually say something to his face. "Huh? feisty, calm down scaredycat, do you usually see things?" You swallow, knowing that you not only see things, but hear things at night as well.
There's an awkward silence between you two, both standing in the dark with nothing but the light of the bathroom reflecting on eachothers skin. "So? You ain't gonna speak âbout nothing YOU'VE been doing? You just gonna stay quiet like that?" You gulp hard, since when was he this bold and confident? What did he expect you to say, then there you are, too scared and shy to talk again, obvious shyness on your face, making heeseung aware of it, once again. He would always secretly tease you, manspread in front of you while looking at you, trying not to stare at him back and attempting to put all your focus on your friends. He would lean against the wall and look at you up and down as you walked past him, with your face buried in your friend's back, trying not to go crazy over his state. He knew the effect he had on you, since the start, it boosted his ego the most. "You shy, doll?" He whispers as he gets closer, not scared of anyone catching you both being so close, almost heads touching.
âW-what if someone catches us like this?, you can't be so close..â You mutter under your breath, forcing the words out of your mouth knowing that you don't really want him to move. âHm? You gonna stop me? I'll stop if you tell me to, you just gotta use your words, prettyâ he whispers once again, looking down on you as he pushes both your bodies onto the wall near the door of the bathroom with his chest. Your lips are shut, unable to get yourself to push him away or say a word.
He feels you slowly giving in, he knows you would, you might know information about you but he knows all your body language, he knows how nervous you get when you're alone with him and he's ready to take advantage of you all. GO HIT THAT GUM JILGEONG!!(sorry i got bored) You feel 1000 knots in your stomach from his breath hitting you cold neck, seconds later, âTake me to your room.â
Saying that his words shocked you was a huge understatement, you were feeling so many emotions that you just went numb. Sight went foggy and you couldn't think anymore, the last thing you remembered was showing him the way to your bedroom. Heading to your bed with wobbly legs due to the fear you were feeling, you had zero idea on what was going to happen. How is this the first day you talk to Heeseung and it's already this crazy? You always imagined scenarios and insane stuff, but now it feels like you just manifested them all because this craziest one is coming to life.
âCute room. Surprised you don't have any photos of me.â The tall man says as he throws himself on the bed. At this point, you would've been able to speak to him like a normal person, but all his flirtatious words made u only use your movements, no verbal communication in sight. He stares at your BT21 plushies with disgust, pushing them off the bed with his foot, is he really still annoyed about that instagram post? Or is he still jealous? âHate those peopleâ he huffs as he turns to his side, seeming amused with your sweet candy-like scent on your bed. âWhy are you scared of your own bed?â He comments as he watches you stare at him from your desk, realizing that you arent on your bed because HE'S ON IT. âI-im not scared, maybe you're just too big for my bed and I can't fit.. Fatty..â âWhat'd you just call me?â âHuh? What! I didn't say a-anything?â âNo no i deeefinitely heard something, did you just call me fat?â âOkay yes! I did, am I lying though? You're not slick, I know the locker you share with Jay is greasy as hell!â you squeal as you make a disgusted face. âYeah? You saw me get out of class to get a cookie too? Or were you too busy trying to hide from me to be able to see what was in my hand?â Shoot, You cant reply to him with anything, both answers are wrong.. âYeah that's what i thought.â
âW-what are you doing in my room, why do you wanna be here?â You ask him, innocently. âBecause I don't break my back sleeping on the couch and I have enough manners to not barge into your brother's room when he's asleep.â âIt's better if you sleep in my brother's room than anyone finding out you slept in mineâŠâ 'I'll leave before anyone wakes up. Comon, I wont do anything.â It's not like heâd do anything anyway, he's as nonchalant as ever and obviously wouldn't try anything on you, he knows you wouldn't actually give into THAT, plus, he's glad youre not like that, atleast at your age.
As Heeseung takes over your bed, you are still in shock. He is sprawled out like he owns the place, watching you from the other side of the room with a small smile on his face. When someone dares to call you out on your personal space, you feel both irritated and agitated.
He pats the empty spot on the bed beside him with the same smirk and asks, âAre you really just going to stare at me from over there?â
You pause, but you cannot maintain any resistance and end up stumbling over. You take care to maintain some distance between you while sitting on the edge, but he does not let you off that easily.
Hee laughs and creeps closer, making you all too aware of the distance vanishing between you two. âCalm down, I donât bite.â When you look up, you see him observing you with that recognizable sparkle in his eye that indicates he is relishing every moment of it.
You make an effort to minimize it by rolling your eyes, but your cheeksâ redness most likely shows that you are not paying much attention. âHeeseung, what are you even doing here? Wouldnât you be better off downstairs or not settling into my room?â
With a low chuckle, he leans back comfortably without shifting. With a playful tone, he raises his eyebrows and asks, âWhat, do you not like me here? Your mom is still out shopping, and your brother is unconscious. I thought, why donât I keep you company since itâs just the two of us?â
Even though he still teases, his eyes are now softer. For a moment, he seems to be genuinely interested in you rather than just making jokes, as if he is looking at you differently than he has in the past. As the air between you thickens and you feel trapped but unwilling to move, your pulse quickens.
He leans forward abruptly, getting so close that you can feel the warmth of his breath. âAre you sure you actually want me to leave?â He whispers as his gaze moves over your face, capturing every tiny expression you are unable to conceal.
You catch the words in your throat. Before you can respond, he raises one hand and gently brushes a flyaway hair out of your face, his fingers remaining in place for a beat too long.
He whispers, âTell me to stop, and I will,â in a low voice that is so intimate it chills you.
However, for some reason, you remain silent. You cannot decide whether you want him to stay or enjoy the excitement of him being this close to you and staring at you as if you are the only person in the room.
All he does is smile, that knowing smile returning to his face. He leans back and whispers, âThought so,â remaining close enough to feel the electricity of the distance.
The weight of the moment presses down on you in the most euphoric way, making it seem like it will last forever. Even though Heeseungâs smile is still there, his eyes seem softer now, almost tender. He seems to be assessing each response, blush, and look as though recording them all.
In a low, informal voice, he begins, âSo.â âWill you explain to me why you stare at me all the time, or will you continue to act as though itâs not obvious?â
He tilts his head, leaning a little closer to make sure you are not escaping too easily, but your face turns red hot, your heart pounding, and you quickly turn your head away. Please do not be so shy around me right now. He laughs softly and adds, âWe both know you have been looking for a while.â
It feels like the words are stuck in your throat when you try to say something. He moves, keeping you cornered with his arm braced against the headboard next to your shoulder. The closeness is dizzying.
At last, you are able to find your voice. âIâm not⊠Really, I wasnât. Itâs not as if Iââ His gaze prevents you from forming a coherent sentence, so you trail off.
Evidently taking pleasure in your agitated state, he laughs. âSo it was not intentional that I always caught you staring at me in the hallway or whenever you passed by with your friends?â
Your lack of response is sufficient, and he smiles, obviously enjoying your response.
He leans slightly closer, until you can feel his breath fan across your cheek, and murmurs, âI guess I was right, huh?â He says quietly, âBut you donât have to be embarrassed, you know,â in a tone that has become more earnest and almost comforting. âI kinda enjoy it.â
You look up and meet his eyes as those final words give you a start. They have an unexpected quality that makes it seem as though he has known you as well as you have known him. There is still teasing, but it has a deeper, more genuine undertone.
âWaitâwhat?â Your voice barely rises above a whisper as you manage to blurt out.
His eyes remain fixed on yours as he smiles, softer this time. âAre you sure you donât know?â
You do not trust yourself to say anything more, so you shake your head. He sighs as if he is having a hard time believing what he is going to say.
âY/n,â he whispers, âI have been interested in you since long before tonight.â
The words linger between you, vibrating with an intensity that catches you completely off guard, and you freeze. Heeseungâs eyes soften, becoming completely serious instead of playful. His closeness now seems more like a confession than a tease.
You mumble, âWait,â hardly believing your own voice. âYou have not been ignoring me?â
He nods slowly, his previous sly smile giving way to something more real and vulnerable. âYes, I have noticed you, but I wouldnât say I have been staring at you. Do you think I have not noticed your gaze on me? Or the way you become silent around me? Itâs clear, y/n.â
You are rendered speechless by the shock of what he said. Your heart is thumping in your chest and your mind is racing as you try to process this new reality. You have always known Heeseung was self-assured, perhaps even arrogant, but this? You have never seen him like this before. It is honest and unvarnished, and for a split second, you cannot even tell if you are dreaming.
Trying to gather yourself, you ask, âAre you serious?â but your words come out more breathless than you meant.
He responds softly, âI donât joke about this kind of stuff,â as his thumb lightly brushes the side of your arm, warming your skin. âI have been trying to determine whether you were feeling the same way or if I was just dreaming.â
Your pulse quickens at the thought, and you bite your lip. The air feels heavier and thicker now, and the room feels smaller. In this moment of unsaid tension, everything around you seems to fade into the background, leaving just the two of you.
You do not say anything for a few seconds, allowing his words to register. You have long admired Heeseung from a distance and wondered what it would be like to be near him. However, you never imagined that he would share your sentiments. And now here he is, publicly acknowledging it, his eyes full of sincerity.
âIâŠ,â you finally manage to say, âI did not know you would notice,â in a hesitant and low voice. âAfter all, I believed I was being subtle. I did not want to cause any strangeness.â
Hee laughs, his voice deep and comforting. âClever? You? I promise you, y/n, there is nothing subtle about the way you gaze at me. However, I enjoy it. I have enjoyed it for some time.
For a moment, you question whether you are dreaming as the words hit you like a wave. The fact that he is sitting so close to you and that his hand is now resting on the bed between you two, inches from where yours is, makes the entire situation seem unreal. Even though everything is so personal, there is still a lot of uncertainty, which makes it difficult to completely unwind.
You ask, just above a whisper, âSo, what now?â as a mix of anxiety and excitement rises inside of you.
Heeseungâs face softens as he inhales deeply. âNow?â he asks in a soft yet purposeful tone. ây/n, all I am waiting for now is for you to say what you want. Because I am listening to whatever it is. I would rather not hurry you. I have been waiting for you to solve it as well.â
For the first time in what seems like an eternity, you release the tension that has been building between you, and your heart skips a beat. You see the honesty and rawness that mirror your own feelings when you look into his eyes.
You look at him with fresh clarity and say, âI think I have figured it out,â in a quiet but firm voice.
It is the same spark in his eyes that has always held you, and Heeseungâs smile is back, albeit softer this time. âYes? What did you discover?â
As you slowly extend your hand and touch his, you sense a spark of electricity.
His smile grows, and everything seems to be in harmony at that precise moment. There is no longer any hesitation or act of deceit. Now that you and him are at last in agreement, you can look forward to seeing where this unspoken bond may take you.
With his hand now resting on top of yours, Heeseung whispers, âI am glad you figured it out,â his voice barely audible above a whisper. âBecause I have been anticipating that statement from you.â
And then everything is different. Something newâsomething thrilling, something genuineâreplaces the tension and the air feels lighter
Neither of you could have imagined as Heeseung leans in and lightly touches your lips. A thrill is sent through you by the gentle touch of Heeseungâs lips against yours, but it is cut short by the distinct sound of footsteps approaching the door. Panic sweeps through you in a flash, and your heart jumps into your throat. With wide eyes, you instinctively glance at the door as though it might save you from the looming catastrophe as you swiftly pull back.
You hear your brotherâs voice, loud and clearly irritated, as the door creaks open just a crack. âY/nnie? Are you in there?â
Quick as ever, Heeseung leans back and puts just enough distance between himself and you to appear casual, but you can tell he is not nearly as shaken as you are by the way his eyes dart to you and the faint smile that is still tugging at his lips.
You force yourself to swallow in an attempt to control your panic. âYes, Iâm here!â you call out, your voice a little too high-pitched for comfort.
Your brother is standing in the doorway, obviously bewildered, as the door opens wider. His brow furrows in that manner that indicates he is going to ask a ton of questions, and he blinks twice as his eyes dart from you to Heeseung. âWhat on earth are you two doing in here?â
Your mind is a jumble of ideas and excuses as you fumble for the right words. âNothinâ! Nothing bad, really. We were justâuh, talking.â
Your brother folds his arms across his chest and his eyes narrow. âTalking?â he asks again in a suspicious tone. âYou two talk like this all the time?â
Heeseung gives you a barely contained smile when you meet his gaze, as though he finds the entire situation humorous. He is not phased at all, of course, because he has always had that arrogant confidence that helps him get out of a tight spot. In the meantime, you are just a few seconds away from losing it due to embarrassment.
âIndeed, we were just catching up. We havenât seen one another in a long time,â Heeseungâs voice is smooth and unaffected, as if a single sentence would allay your brotherâs suspicions.
Your brother looks back at you with a raised eyebrow. âCatching up in her room, you two? Doesnât that sound a bit suspicious?â
You give Heeseung a quick, frantic glance, hoping he will save you, but he is taking too much pleasure in this. âAgain, we were just conversing. Nothing strange,â Heeseung says with a nonchalant shrug. âBut we can go if you have to. I donât want to invade your territory.â He says with a chuckle.
As though this whole exchange is one big headache he did not sign up for, your brother pauses, still glaring, and then sighs. Then he turns back to the door and murmurs, âAnyway, just donât make it weird.â âYou understand what I mean when I say that you donât want to hear anything too strange from this room later?â
Heeseung shakes his head and lets out a barely contained laugh as he leaves. His voice is light as he says, âHeâs got nothing on us,â but his grin remains mischievous and a bit too knowing.
With your heart still pounding, you release a breath you were unaware you were holding. You mutter, attempting to steady yourself by running a hand through your hair, âI canât believe he just walked in like that.â
Leaning back against the bed, Heeseung laughs. âSlow down. In any case, heâs too ignorant to solve anything.â
Despite his playful tone, there is a surprising undertone of protectiveness in his voice. He looks you in the eyes, and for a brief moment, you are the only two of you. The tension from earlier returns, but this time it is differentâmore at ease.
You start to say, âWell, I suppose we should wait until he returns downstairs before weââ but Heeseung cuts you off, his eyes softening.
With a tone that conveys something unsaid, he asks softly, âBefore we what?â
You look him in the eyes and feel the tension between you two return. This time, the separation between you is not about actual distance but rather about the potential outcomes and the uncertainty of what lies ahead. You canât shake the feeling that something could change everything right in front of you.
You confess, âI⊠I donât know,â not knowing how to move through the distance between you but unwilling to let go of the bond you have just found. âHowever, I am aware that Iâm not yet prepared for him to solve this.â
With his confidence fully restored, Heeseung grins. âDonât be concerned. We will resolve the issue. Furthermore, both you and I are aware of what really happens next.ïżœïżœïżœ
The ease with which he returns to his typical, carefree self makes you laugh and shake your head. However, you realize that perhapsâjust possiblyâyou are ready to stop acting like everything is easy and let whatever happens between you and Heeseung play out naturally as you sit there with him and hear your brotherâs voice reverberating in your head.

You know what, yeah, that bell hooks quotation wasn't appropriate, it doesn't say what the person who added it think it says.
But I don't think it's fair to say that that man who everyone is pissing on somehow claimed we had to "hold his hand" or "coddle" him or whatever. Or even that women had to do it.
He never once even mentioned the word 'woman' in that post. I'm not excluding that that what he was implying - it's very possible! - but what he said was "the left", and let's be clear, this is his understanding of what the left is. I saw people saying that a "self-proclaimed leftist" should understand that his answer was still drenched in patriarchal thinking. But he never once proclaimed he was a leftist. Perhaps he thinks he is, but all he said was that he got "out" of the "alt-right". For all we know, that means he voted for the Democratic Party and we, who are on the left, all know that's not the fucking left.
The question that was posed was how do we keep young men from turning right wing, and he offered an explanation. An explanation! Not an excuse! Again something that a lot of people just assumed.
And yes, it was a flawed explanation, and yes he has some things to learn, and yes it was uncritical and terribly phrased.
But can we recognise that not everyone has the necessary critical thinking skills to completely dig their way out of the overarching ideology that fucking rules our lives? Critical thinking skills aren't something that we are born with. It's something that is learned, something that you have to train. It's a never-ending project. And from what I know of the educational system in the US? That's not where you get it.
Speaking of bell hooks, at least she understands this. In that book (The Will to Change) she writes that "most men never think about patriarchy - what it means, how it is created and sustained." She writes how the patriarchy sees men's violence and the one emotion they're allowed to have, anger, as "natural". Understanding the patriarchy is something that has to be learned, and you either figure it out yourself by reading, but most of us probably had someone in our lives who talked to us about it, taught us about it, and then we might have started reading more about it.
What if you don't have someone like that? What if all you hear is that the things feminists tell you is bad is what was imprinted on you as "natural" to you?
Here's bell hooks:
Yet no one talks about the role patriarchal notions of manhood play in teaching boys that it is their nature to kill, then teaching them that they can do nothing to change this natureânothing, that is, that will leave their masculinity intact.
Here's what she says of her own brother:
As patriarchal thinking and action claimed him in adolescence, he learned to mask his loving feelings. He entered that space of alienation and antisocial behavior deemed ânaturalâ for adolescent boys.
She clearly pinpoints the moment of these patriarchal ideas taking hold to be in adolescent, and the question that was posed was, what can we do to stop that from happening? I've seen people say that nothing can be done until we change the material conditions that make it so that men systematically have power over women. And yeah, undoubtedly that is a fight we need to have. But is that truly the only way we can keep (some) boys from falling into the grasp of the (alt-)right? Is there no hope in at least reaching them in the meantime?
I've seen a post saying, "omg of course he goes for misandry" and while misandry isn't real in that men are not systematically oppressed, that doesn't mean that there aren't some out there who express hatred or disgust of men. That's not what the left stands for, obviously, but it is not absent. Here are some comments from the notes on some of these reaction posts (and presumably these are all people who consider themselves leftists):
"you should be hunted for sport"
"makes me want to commit homocide"
"kys right now"
"'leftists constantly said i should die' yeah fucking right"
"we need to double male loneliness and I'm not even kidding"
"I HATE MEN AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. THEY HATE US MORE AND THEY HAVE ALL THE POWER TO DO ACTUAL HARM TO US. Misandry is NOT FUCKING REAL but I wish it was"
"we should kill people who don't get it"
Is that hatred of men (non-systematically)? Not all of it, but some of it definitely or possibly qualifies. And it sure does look like some people (who probably think themselves leftists) think this man (or men in general) are the "scum of the earth" and that they want him/them dead. How else do you interpret some of these phrases?
Now imagine that this is something that you encounter online, and with the help of the stranglehold of the patriarchy, whispers of right wing ideology, confirmation bias, and negativity bias? I can imagine you might end up concluding they "hate you for your immutable traits" (remember patriarchy teaches boys that violence and anger is natural to them) and that they "blame you for everything that's wrong in the world".
Is that the right conclusion? No. But as much as being able to use reason is part of being human, so is not being immune to ideology and propaganda. We wouldn't fucking be where we are right now if that wasn't the case.
How do we teach boys that anger and violence aren't "immutable traits"? How do we educate them about the power of the patriarchy? Well, where does it have to come from if not from the fucking left?
Does it have to be you? No. Does it have to be women? Also no. It's probably good if it's men, and especially men who themselves walked with the right at some point (if someone has already been pulled into the right, rather than catching them before).
It can be a woman though, if there's someone who wants to do it. I don't mind doing it if someone wants to talk about it. Will I be nice? No, I won't hold back and I will tell them if what they're saying is wrong. Will I coddle them? Fuck no. Will I keep trying if someone clearly isn't listening? No. Will I be compassionate? Yeah, I think I will.
Because compassion is really important when you're trying to keep people from falling into the far-right, or even if you're trying to get them out of it (which again, isn't what we were talking about in the first place).
Here's Pete Simi, professor of Sociology, talking about Life After Hate, an American non-profit that tries to help people leave the far-right:
The organization was started by former hate group members who have been doing a lot of outreach in terms of providing testimonials and trainings to schools and law enforcement and other community groups across the country. The focus of their message is the importance of using compassion to inform prevention and intervention efforts and aftercare for individuals who want to change their lives but may need various types of support. I think LAH is a very promising development and I hope it will continue to find the resources that it needs to expand the services it provides.
Being compassionate doesn't mean coddling. It doesn't mean holding their hands and it doesn't even mean being nice to them. It doesn't exclude holding people accountable for their views. It does require patience, though. And I understand that if someone is holding the belief that you are not allowed to exist, that isn't something you can do. And that's fine. It doesn't have to be you.
But somebody has to do it, and it has to be someone on the left.
Now none of that means that the suffering of men under patriarchy, and the fact that this has to be addressed loud and clear, are more important than the suffering that women, and especially women whose oppression intersects with other levels of oppression. I've seen some tags on reaction posts that stated "omg of course centring men in discussions of gender" - but the post was about men. That was the whole starting point!
Because men do suffer under the patriarchy. And it's pushing them to the right, towards misogyny and racism, unless they develop the necessary critical thinking skills to understand their own suffering. And you know who thinks so too? bell hooks.
Often men, to speak the pain, first turn to the women in their lives and are refused a hearing. In many ways women have bought into the patriarchal masculine mystique. Asked to witness a male expressing feelings, to listen to those feelings and respond, they may simply turn away.
Since men have yet to organize a feminist menâs movement that would proclaim the rights of men to emotional awareness and expression, we will not know how many men have indeed tried to express feelings, only to have the women in their lives tune out or be turned off.
It is a form of abuse that this culture continues to deny. Boys socialized to become patriarchs are being abused. As victims of child abuse via socialization in the direction of the patriarchal ideal, boys learn that they are unlovable.
The patriarchal model that tells men that they must be in control at all times is at odds with cultivating the capacity to be responsible, which requires knowing when to control and when to surrender and let go. Responsible men are capable of self-criticism. If more men were doing the work of self-critique, then they would not be wounded, hurt, or chagrined when critiqued by others, especially women with whom they are intimate. Engaging in self-critique empowers responsible males to admit mistakes. When they have wronged others, they are willing to acknowledge wrongdoing and make amends. When others have wronged them, they are able to forgive. The ability to be forgiving is part of letting go of perfectionism and accepting vulnerability. At the same time, constructive criticism works only when it is linked to a process of affirmation. Giving affirmation is an act of emotional care. Wounded men are not often able to say anything positive. They are the grump-and-groan guys; cloaked in cynicism, they stand at an emotional distance from themselves and others. Affirmation brings us closer together. It is the highest realization of compassion and empathy with others. One of the negative aspects of antimale feminist critiques of masculinity was the absence of any affirmation of that which is positive and potentially positive in male being. When individuals, including myself, wrote about the necessity of affirming men and identifying them as comrades in struggle, we were often labeled male-identified. The women who attacked us did not understand that it was possible to critique patriarchy without hating men. Indeed, recognizing all the ways that males have been victimized by patriarchy (even though they received rewards) was a way of including men in feminist movement, welcoming their presence and honoring their contribution.
âin order to create loving males we need to love malesâ means teach boys that they can be themselves without being less of a man. it means being encouraging and nurturing of their emotions so they donât become cold and hateful. it means showing boys, early in their lives, that they have value outside of what our society deems proper masculinity. what it doesnât mean is that itâs our job to handhold men who see women as walking sex toys through the concept of empathy, and maybe if weâre really really nice to them and donât say things that hurt their feelings theyâll stop killing us for saying no
