So! I know most of you come for the shinyshrimp stuff (WHICH WE WILL GET TO) but let me yap about Glisten and Razzle for a bit.

I LOVE YOU GLITTERMASK THEY COULD NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU GLITTERMASK-

Glisten and Razzle got together like 3 months after Glisten and Boxten broke up. Razzle never really looked to Glisten that much outside of acquaintances (cuz he was kinda sorta lowkey jealous of Glisten's charisma and stage-presence). In fact, they were much more focused on Vee and maybe possibly had a crush on her, which is really funny in hindsight with Dazzle lol. However, after learning that Vee was a lesbian/being very rudely rejected by her, Razzle found comfort in Glisten and fell head-over-heels almost immediately.

The only problem is, Razzle has -10000 aura. His ass cannot be flirty or cool-charismatic at all.

Scapmi is a preppy goth-ish shrimp with an eye for fashion and artistry. With a smart mouth and a massive ego, he often comes off as an annoyance to others. He loves to be front and center in everything but often has to fight with his internalized idea that everything is a competition that he needs to win no matter what. It causes him a lot of stress and self-doubt, but he'd never let anyone see his weaknesses.

Gash is a shrap-toned violent mirror who speaks more with his fists than his voice. He hates everything that is not himself (and sweets) and makes sure people know that. He used to be a perfectionist, but after an accident permanently cracked his face, he dropped his "perfect" persona in favor of a messy, more hateful one. He wants connection but doesn't know how to express his needs in an understandable way, and that frustrates him immensely.

As you can see, match made in heaven.

The rain poured relentlessly, blurring the neon lights of Seoul into streaks of color as Hoshi stood outside the apartment building. His fingers clenched around the umbrella handle, though he wasn’t sure why he had bothered bringing it. He was already soaked, and something about the cold seemed fitting.

He hesitated before pressing the buzzer.

Silence.

Then, a static-laced voice: "Who is it?"

Hearing her voice after all this time nearly broke him. "It’s me."

A long pause. Too long.

"Go home, Soonyoung."

He swallowed. "I just want to see you. Please."

"Don’t you have something better to do? Like catching a flight to Japan?" she said bitterly.

"I’ll take the next flight," he replied without hesitation. "You’re more important."

More silence, then a click. The door unlocked. He let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding and stepped inside.

Y/N was thinner than he remembered. The weight loss was noticeable even under the oversized hoodie she wore, sleeves pulled over trembling fingers. Her once-bright eyes were dull, lips slightly chapped, the kind of exhaustion that no amount of sleep could fix settled deep in her features.

Seeing her like this made his chest tighten. This wasn’t the Y/N he knew.

"You shouldn’t be here," she said, voice barely above a whisper.

Hoshi ignored the warning, stepping inside fully. "I had to see you. I had to know if you were okay."

She let out a bitter laugh, running a hand through her tangled hair. "Do I look okay to you?"

No. She looked like she had been barely holding on, like she had been drowning in something she couldn’t escape from. And the worst part? He hadn’t been there to pull her out.

"I’ve been watching you… on stage, in interviews, award shows. You’re disappearing, Y/N. You’re hurting," he admitted, voice raw. "Your friend reached out to me. She’s worried. And she thought maybe… maybe I could help."

Her eyes flashed. "And what? You think you can just come back and fix me? That your presence will magically make things better?"

"No," he whispered. "But I can be here. I can hold you up if you let me."

She scoffed. "You left, Soonyoung. And now you want to be my savior?"

"I never stopped caring," he said, his voice shaking. "I never stopped loving you."

That was the breaking point. Her lips trembled, and before she could stop herself, she collapsed into his arms.

"It’s so hard, Soonyoung," she sobbed into his chest. "No matter what I do, there’s always something wrong with me. I’m never pretty enough, never talented enough. Always too much or too little. They find every flaw, every mistake. The pressure is… it’s crushing me."

He held her tightly, rubbing soothing circles on her back. "Y/N, listen to me. You are the most beautiful person in the world. And not because of how you look. She clung to him, her breathing ragged.

A long rant about something that's been eating my mind from the inside out so here we go (TW: Might be Controversial)-

Sometimes, I'm just very normal about James Potter and Lily Evans but then I'm not. So growing up, I watched the hp movies first so I never quite had any interest in their relationship, they just seemed like a tragic straight relationship to me so I never bothered with it. But then I read the books and I went immediately like this- "No wonder James Potter worshipped Lily Evans, I would too." Like, this woman is the legit reason why the whole harry potter thing started, and to see the fact that most of the time she's just blatantly ignored or being stripped out of her original identity to be a strong independent lesbian (I don't have any problem with her sexuality, people can imagine her with whomever they like but it kind of ridicules Lily's motherhood in some way) who absolutely either hates James Potter or Insults him for fun just bcz he has a crush on her or being a side chick for James's steamy cheating romance flings hurts me more than I think it should.

I get it, the marauders fandom wholly embraces the fanon so dearly to them like a warm blanket because of many obvious reasons, but sometimes I think we just totally miss the point of this whole franchise. It's obvious that jkr sucks at writing romances which is why most people don't get the spark of canon ships like romione, hinny and remadora but completely missing the point about Lily being a mother figure in Harry's life and as a lover figure in James's life truly pisses me off a lot. Even though everybody is allowed to dislike certain ships because not everybody has the same taste, but I think we miss the fact that Lily was always more than just a mother and a wife in a way that molded her into what she wanted to be.

The reason why I'm completely enamored by Jily is not because it's just a canon ship which literally started Harry Potter, but because the way Lily Evans just had an effect on everyone who crossed their paths with her. Professor Slughorn himself was so besotted with her, Professor Minerva McGonagall teared up at the news of her departing because who wouldn't like her? She's so brave, so full of joy and laughter that she always forgot her own pain in favor of sucking the pain out of another. James was indeed quite taken aback by her beauty and charm, but I'd like to think it developed into something more after seeing the way she treated her close individuals. Lily was the younger sibling, and because she was a witch, she constantly faced harsh behaviors from her elder sister for being a "freak" according to her sister's standards. She may have had an inferiority complex, and she also hanged out a lot with snape, despite facing discriminations in Hogwarts for being friends with a half-blood poor Slytherin. She was willing to change snape, always defending him left and right but it never worked out in the end. Which left her feeling very defeated, she gave up because she felt like she was not worth it, maybe those bullies were right and she really was just a mudblood. And James, developing a crush on her while continuously harassing snape didn't help either. But if we analyze James's character, knowing that he literally took in Sirius just so that he could escape his abusive family, he knew that Lily was downrightly getting used and snape was taking advantage of her kindness and her stubbornness, he knew it because Sirius was in Lily's place once too, always constantly reminded of how they were never enough, so he wanted to save her ( in his own pathetic loser way ofc ) I think there are many hints of Lily noticing James quite a lot because if you really claimed to hate your enemy then why were you so bloody obsessed with the way how their hair looked like after playing quidditch hmmm 🤨🤨

But not just that, let's also talk about how she literally single handedly MADE THE JAMES POTTER, the absolute arrogant toe-rag quit bullying and hexing people for fun, knowing that he's been like this for the most of his life, but he decided to change for her just like a snap of a finger! Not only that, but she also quickly befriended Sirius in a way that he literally turned out to be her future son's Godfather and the secret keeper. The absolute hold she had on the marauders really needs to be studied!

The love James and Lily had for each other was an act of rebellion in it's own way, because back in that time, muggleborns were seen as scums of the earth and inferior to the wizarding society. But James literally went against every single pureblood tradition just to be with someone he loves and believes with his whole heart. That was always the main point. The reason why both of them were so cherished. He literally went up against Voldemort without a wand not just because of his son, but also for Lily, who he absolutely trusts with his whole life, the only person worth loosing the pureblood title for, the only person worth taking the risk of taking the Avada curse to his heart, he just loved her so beautifully, just like the way she always deserved. And Lily, oh lily, always saw the good in everyone, but saw the best in James, decided to sacrifice her life for their one and only son out of pure love and devotion. And the sacrificial love was so strong that the strongest dark wizard of all time succumbed to his own curse and it tore apart a piece of his soul in revenge of separating the two soulmates whom were always destined to find each other and get woven together in every single timeline. It changed the tide of the entire war. She ended it single handedly.

Yes, she was depicted as a girl who was just a close friend of snape, as a sister who's facing discriminations from her own elder sister's profound jealousy, as a lover and wife of James Potter, as a mother of Harry Potter- the boy who lived. But I think there's so much beauty in every single role she was depicted in. It gives us a glimpse of how much impact she had on everybody around her, how much she meant dear to everybody who cared for her, of how much diverse and forgiving person she was, of the way she was always a reassuring shadow around harry even though she was no longer present in the mortal world. No, motherhood doesn't make her one dimensional or boring, it only enhances her ability of loving people the way they deserve. It makes her so complex, but so powerful at the same time. She was a proud mother, and a lover, a friend, and a woman.

Lily Evans, what an absolute Goddess you were. And you'll always be. No other fictional character ever had a hold so strong on me the way she has.

in some of the questions i decided to write about both ore and bokusei's different perspectives...

🍓 - sei is studying business (due to his father's pressure) but he has always wanted to become a professional basketball player

🍒 - playing basketball or playing shogi. since we're talking about a whole day -- perhaps board games since basketball can get tiring obviously. i know for a fact that sei can get into heated battles with his other self inside his head when playing shogi. he does it out of fun.

🍎 - black coffee and apple / cinnamon tea.

🍉 - this is a bit secretive but sei has been disconnected from religion ever since the passing of his mother. part of him doesn't even like celebrating christmas due to such.

🍑 - sei actually prefers receiving gifts rather than giving them! i suppose it's because he wants to feel cared for and thought of. although he preferes homemade gifts -- he doesn't like having money spent on him.

🍊 - well, there are two outcomes. (ore)sei would would shake his head and peel the orange using a napkin, while (boku)sei would just hand me a knife. if he's feeling generous, that is.

�� - sei only had one stuffed animal growing up -- and that is a small plushie of a white horse, resembling his own; he obviously named it "yukimaru", after the real horse.

🍍 - naturally i would say that i would have not wanted him to go through what he went through but that way he wouldn't be who he is today. he's grown and learnt how to deal with the difficulties of his harsh past, and he's doing well at that. i wouldn't change anything about him.

🍌 - what the fuck. he does NOT know what that is.

🍋‍🟩 - (boku)sei dislikes it when people whistle under a roof. (ore)sei doesn't really care much about that, and sometimes even he whistles when he's distracted. bokusei is the superstitious one.

🍈 - (boku)sei is a determinist! he believes that everything is pre-destined and we only have illusion of choice. on the other hand, (ore)sei believes in both destiny and free will.

🍏 - sei's first crush was actually nijimura, teiko's former captain. (starts rolling on the floor crying and screaming) but sei only realized that he was queer when we got together so i take pride in that! (by the way, ore is biromantic and boku is only into men.)

🍐 - sei tends to tap mindlessly on a table or stomp his foot on the ground when he's nervous...

🥝 - well, he doesn't normally wear makeup and as much as i'd like to believe that he'd let me do his makeup, i'm afraid my skills are far too awful. i'm serious, i'm terrible at it. he can ask kise.

🫒 - he is not much of a hugger! his hugs are actually quite awkward. unless he is on his feels, then he's a great hugger. oresei usually wraps his arms around the waist and gives a few back pats while boku goes for the neck.

🫐 - sei is more of a writer than an artist. and he is definitely right-brained.

🍇 - i'm afraid his life wouldn't change much. he would still be the captain of the basketball team, president of the student council, an aspiring professional player...what could i have changed?

🥥 - he likes reading, playing shogi and chess, playing basketball obviously and horseriding. he also knows how to play the violin and the piano, although he prefers the violin. he often talks about wanting to get into knitting but he's never quite had the time. sei has also mentioned journaling before but, according to him, he "lacks the creativity". what a silly boy

🍅 - his answer was "i'd buy you something that would make you smile, no matter what." then i asked him to elaborate and sei just replied "perhaps a puppy.". i have yet to process this.

🌶️ - bold of you to assume sei's immune system isn't literal iron. he rarely gets sick. though when he catches a cold and ends up with a sore throat, i make him a cup of tea with a spoonful of honey to ease with the irritation.

🫚 - sei is quite picky, actually. he would never eat natto, kimchi, raw octopus and liver. he prefers seafood over meat, but when it comes to it, he only eats well-done steak. he despises red meat.

🥕 - sei wasn't very fond of vegetables as a child but his nanny and his mother taught him from a young age to finish his plate (which was always sectioned) and he always obliged. of course he was also allowed to have sweets from time to time, but he was never fussy about his veggies before.

🧅 - sei is not very emotional. even at the toughest times, he still holds back his tears. what he does instead is just show a puzzled expression that reflects his despair perfectly -- and that's scarier than a tear rolling down his cheek. i wish he expose himself to vulnerability a bit more but if he's comfortable the way he is, i won't insist. as long as he doesn't bottle it up, it's fine with me.

🌽 - sei really likes eagles and lions. as for pets, he likes horses (obviously) and cats. i have a cat and a dog and he always manages to get oreo (the cat) on his lap. he usually isn't very fond of dogs since they bark a lot and can be disobedient, but my dog is such a chill old guy that sei has taken a liking to him.

🥦 - like i mentioned before, dogs that bark at him and are disobedient. he also feels this way towards children -- while he understands that some kids simply won't listen, he still finds them annoying. he isn't annoyed by people who chew loudly (he's used to it) but (boku)sei draws the line at slow walkers. meanwhile (ore)sei is a slow walker himself.

🥒 - other than the fear of failure and chaos (which are so painfully evident, i won't elaborate), he has thanatophobia (fear of death and losing his loved ones). he also doesn't fuck with clowns. now this isn't exactly a phobia but he's constantly haunted by the thought and possibility of becoming like his father.

🥬 - sei sets alarms for specific times such as 6:24, 7:02, 8:33 (instead of just 6:30, 7:00, etc)...also, when he's at home, he has an assigned seat (always at the head of the table.). he hasn't drank milk in a while but when he was a kid, sei would always put the milk before the cereal. some people call that criminal.

🫛 - (ore)sei likes petnames and nicknames! he finds it endearing whenever i call him "sei", and he uses petnames a lot, such as "darling", "my love", and "my knight". (boku)sei is a different case; i call him "aka-chan" and he accepts it, but never quite commented on it. patience!

🫑 - death is a sensitive topic for him. before death eventually takes him, sei would like to play one last game with his friends and have a post-game commemoration at maji burger...

🥑 - sei is very interested in history, especially the history of japan! he is interested in sadō (the tea ceremony) and kyūdō (japanese archery).

🍠 - sei either indulges in one of his hobbies or starts online hunting for those "Good Morning🦋🦋" pictures and gifs to send all of his groupchats when the clock hits 6am.

🍆 - he likes the smell of sandalwood incense. sei has also taken a liking to vanilla since that's...what my hair smells like...

🧄 - he has an allergy to pollen, especially during spring season. sei's eyes tend to get puffy and watery and his nose becomes stuffy. must protect him from pollen at all costs!

��� - out of the two of us, sei is the cook. i'm a disaster in the kitchen. he likes dishes with tofu -- which is something we eat a lot, since i'm a vegetarian. he likes especially tofu soup and yudofu.

Some time ago, someone mentioned an idea/scenario that they imagined in BTZ involving Emilia, a gravestone for the past Subaru, and etc. And well… here’s my own thought up scenario. I’ll say that it was nice to have written it down. But who knows, maybe it will inspire you to add at least some of its elements into the story. If not, that’s still entirely fine.

The scenario involves something that I wished more RE:Zero fics would try to take advantage of. That being Subaru’s knowledge of Japan’s writing system (with its system of Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana). Here’s the possible route it could go down:

BTZ 1:

During week 1 or 2, Subaru starts writing in a diary using his native language.

Writes about how he thinks everyone either dislikes him at best or utterly despises him at worst.

Writes about how he doesn’t have any special skills or knowledge as shown by the chefs already knowing the dishes he wanted to surprise everyone with.

Writes about how Emilia wants absolutely nothing to do with him and looks like she’s in love with Julius. Of course that’s the case since Julius is better than Subaru in every way-why couldn’t Subaru just listen to Emilia-why couldn’t Subaru just take a single moment in his life to think and stop being suCH A USELESS PIECE OF IRREDEEMABLE GARBAGE THAT-

(Yeahhhh… my goodness Subaru is SO FAR from doing or feeling okay)

To put it simply, in the diary he writes about basically EVERY… SINGLE… TROUBLE… that he had and has.

At one point, Felix catches Subaru mid diary writing and ‘seems’ to mock his want to be with Emilia.

BTZ 2:

Crush, Felix, and Wilhelm are all glad Subaru has another healthy, safe, and self-helpful activity to partake in the form of diary writing.

The fact that said diary is written in a different language isn’t worrying because hey, diaries are something personal. Wilhelm has fond memories of trying to stop a mischievous Theresia from looking at his old diary.

Felix teases Subaru about how there must be some flirtatious words about Emilia in that Diary. (As usual, Felix doesn’t realize that his facial and vocal presentation around his triggers, like Natsuki ‘twice suicide’ Subaru, causes him to look mocking in Subaru’s eyes)

BTZ 3:

Someone from the Crush or Emilia camp asks Beatrice to take a look at Subaru’s diary to hopefully get a better idea of how everything went wrong. (after all, I can see past Subaru teaching his trusted spirit companion his native tongue/language at some point)

After reading the diary, Beatrice is… well I don’t think I can begin to describe how she feels.

(Bonus): After reading the diary, Beatrice walks in on a meeting between a bunch of the BTZ cast like Crush, Felix, Wilhelm, Julius, Reinhard, Emilia, and etc. She looks at everyone and just says ���We all fucking suck, in fact.”

(LET BTZ 3 BEATRICE SWEAR AT LEAST ONCE, I SUPPOSE)

Oh that is EVIL. I can make it worse: who says that anyone even knows that the book Subaru scribbles in every once in a while is his diary?

Maybe Julius goes into Subaru’s room at some point and sees this innocuous looking journal on his desk and just — picks it up. Opens it. Is greeted with what he can only conclude is either random scribbles or some of the worst penmanship he has ever seen. Logically he knows that Subaru often writes in another language called “Japanese” but that doesn’t mean he’ll be able to RECOGNIZE it. He spends like five minutes trying to figure out wtf he’s looking at when Subaru walks in and freaks out. Somehow or another, he comes to the conclusion that Subaru was actually trying to write something down, and decides that they really need to work on his handwriting because THIS is just horrible.

Subaru, meanwhile, just walked in on Julius (of all people) reading some of his most personal fears and self-loathing spirals, and then all Julius has to say about it is “Your handwriting is horrible.” Like WTF.

(In BTZ, Beatrice or Reinhard finally gets ahold of it. They don’t realize it’s a journal until they’ve already started to read, but then they realize that they can’t stop. By the time they’re done all they want to do is cry.)

Chapter 5

That evening at the dinner table. every time I looked up, Evelyn was staring at me. She would give me a smile when our eyes met. I would smile back.

The time came, time to get our diapers on.

I have and have not been dreading this all night.

Aunt Kathy took Evelyn and I and she cleaned us, powdered us up, then diapered us. Evelyn was  first. I stared up at the ceiling while Evelyn was diapered. When it was my turn, I looked and Evelyn had lifted her upper body up on an elbow. She was watching Aunt Kathy diaper me!

Aunt Kathy and Uncle John left the livingroom and Evelyn cam and put a hand on my diapered front. Being a guy and not knowing if she was going to squeeze me there or not, I grabbed her wrist and removed her hand.

"I can feel your man thing through your diaper!" Evelyn stated.

"Evelyn please don't touch me there,I, I am over 18 and what you want will get me thrown in prison. You are only 17 years old!" I said.

"I will be 18 in three months from today though!" She pleaded!

I started thinking, yep three more months.

"You can watch when mom diapers me, John Jr. used to."

"No I can't, Aunt Kathy would cut my testicles off and poke my eyes out"

Evelyn smiled and said "Yeah she would, wouldn't she! Willy just so you know I have always had a crush on you. I looked foreward to your visits here or ours to your place, they were always the best!"

"Don't tell anyone but I have always had a huge crush on you, you were always the most beautiful girl I knew by far!" I told her!

"You noticed me! With John Jr. being so sick, everybody seen him, I was an afterthought! You took me and I got to see you play football and play tag and other games John Jr. couldnt! The worst day of my life and the best was the day he died, does that make sense?"

"Evelyn believe it or not it does, I understand it. On one hand you lost your brother the only one you had, on the other people started seeing you, mainly Aunt Kathy and Uncle John!"

"That's it, that is exactly it! Thank You!"

Aunt Kathy came back, "What are you two up to, as if I didnt know! Did he kiss you Evelyn?" She asked?

I was shocked!

"No mom, he is 18 and scared of repercussions with the law, and you." Evelyn said.

"Me? Willy your mom and I we always thought you two would be perfect for each other!"

"You did?" We both said.

Neither one of had heard this theory before.

"Go ahead kiss her!" Aunt Kathy said.

At first I looked at Aunt Kathy like she had three heads.

I took Evelyn and I kissed her. I kissed her for another 10 seconds. Aunt Kathy had said "That's enough, that's enough" about 3 times.

We broke Evelyn had a huge smile on her face, "Wow, that was better than I imagined it would be!"

Aunt Kathy said "I guess I will have to keep an eye on you two!"

Evelyn went to her room and I went to mine.

Evelyn now knows how I feel about her! I though.

Aunt Kathy brought me a glass of warm milk.

She waited for the glass I drank it down.

20 minutes later the milk did it's job I fell asleep.

My dreams were of Evelyn and I getting married, it was heaven.

I awoke needing to pee like crazy!

I went to go to the toilet, dammit I was wearing a diaper, a cloth diaper. Even if I could get it off I could never get it back on again.

I looked at the clock 5:43, breakfast was almost an two hours and half away at 8:30am. No way I can last that that long! 

I remembered how disappointed Aunt Kathy was that I was dry yesterday. I started trying to wet the diaper, my toilet training was strong, my bladder wouldn't let a drop out. I wasn't peeing in a toilet. I got an Idea I went and stood in front of the toilet, I was good until I felt the warmness of my urine spreading inside my diaper. My brain said "Hey wait a minute it's not supposed to feel like this!" My bladder shut down again!

"I began to say it's okay I'm wetting my bed!"

My brain said "Is that all?" My flow started again. I was done and my brain said., "Hey wait a minute, were not a bedwetter!" If I hadn't of been done, I knew that a single drop wouldnt get out now! 

I went back to bed my penis was encased in a nice warm, but damp cocoon. That was my last thought before when my alarm went off and I got up to eat breakfast.

Aunt Kathy checked me and found me wet, I had to pee about 5:45am. She looked pleased and disappointed at the same time. 

After breakfast Evelyn and I were released from our diapers. With it being Saturday we cleaned the house top to bottom.

Evelyn and I had a few more opportunities to steal a few kisses.

inspired by that social media trend about taking your younger self for coffee. am feeling existential what can i say.

i met the younger version of myself for coffee, today. she was twenty minutes early, i was ten - some things never change, though i reassure her that her own time matters too, and she doesn’t always need to be so anxious about being left behind if she doesn’t get somewhere on time. the people who love her will wait, an extra five minutes.

she orders a flat white - i do, too. some things never change, though i try more new things now. i’ve recently gotten into matcha, i explain, and she furrows her brow in confusion, and i get it, really - coffee makes her feel more grown up in a world of adulthood she doesn’t feel ready to be a part of yet. it still does, in lots of ways, but she likes matcha now too.

i watch, as she picks at the skin around her fingernails and pinches the delicate skin of her wrist, an anxious tick that leaves cuts and bruises that take days and weeks to heal. you learn how to not do that, i promise, her head ducked with embarrassment as she tries to hide the fact she’s made her fingers bleed. you figure out better ways to cope.

she tells me about the boy she has a crush on - I don’t have the heart to tell her that he doesn’t feel the same, that he’ll only ever be a friend. that he’ll tell her he loves her, as a friend, in a crowded nightclub, and she’ll learn that sometimes people love you but don’t want you back. she sees the claddagh ring on my finger and frowns, at the direction it sits - she knows what it means. you’re single, still? she asks, and i nod - yeah, you are, and it’s okay, really, it is. i want to tell her that she does fall in love and she loses it and somehow it’s still one of her fondest memories, but i don’t want to spoil the experience of living it for the first time. i don’t want her to know how much it hurt, when it was over. instead, i reassure her she’ll turn the ring one day for the right person. we know who we’re looking for now. there’s peace in that, too.

she names her closest friends. i tell her they’re all doing so well - that years and distance and life pulled in different directions hasn’t changed the love she has for them. i tell her there’s new faces in her story too - friends from a year abroad that changes her life, friends from the place where she builds a life all on her own. i promise her she’s got a future filled with love, platonic, beautiful, magnificent love, the kind that always answers the phone when she calls, crying because the world feels so overwhelmingly lonely.

you’ll feel lonely sometimes still - but everyone does. i promise her she learns to find peace in the quiet of her life, and i don’t tell her much more. i want her to learn it for herself. there’s also some things i can’t bear to tell her - how bad, it’ll get, how she’ll lose one of the most important people in her life, not to death, no, but to disinterest, and how that feels worse, sometimes, because they chose to leave. i can’t bear to tell her that there’s times she’ll wonder if the cavernous ache in her chest is simply a part of her being, a pain no medicine can fix.

i don’t tell her any of that. instead, i tell her about her flatmates - the place she calls home and the girls she’s made a home with. i tell her she’s a really good cook, now, and that food is easier, now - fun, even - and she still reads at least one book a week and she’s got people to share her recommendations with. i explain she has a job that gives her such purpose and drive in life - and it’s not quite what she expected but it’s better, and it’s brilliant, and it changed her life when she took a chance on the interview all those years ago. i tell her she falls in love with writing, again, and she doesn’t lose that love this time. i tell her she’s got enough money to spend on all the makeup and skincare she wants and she does - she definitely does.

you’re almost 30, now, she points out, and i nod. aren’t you scared? she asks, still pulling at the sore, tender skin of her fingers. i wish i could reach out and get her to stop.

no, i promise. I’m not scared. i’ve built a good life - a good career. i ticked off the goals she’d shakily written on a list as she tried to figure out a path in life when she started at university. i don’t have a new list now - i’m taking it as it comes. that terrifies her, i know, but i think it amazes her, too, to know that with age comes confidence, a sense of calm - she needs that. i’m excited to grow older. she didn’t always want to.

she’s slow to drink her coffee - i am, too. we had lots to discuss and plenty i didn’t tell her. she’s got some of the best years of her life to come - and the worst, too - but there’s light at the end of the tunnel and not much left in the end of our coffee cups.

she shuffles awkwardly, as we move to leave. you’re happy? she asks.

i am, i promise. it just looks different than how you imagine it right now.

her shoulders are hunched, as she walks away, nearly 20 years old and uncomfortable in her own skin, desperate to hide, to make herself invisible. i’ll see her again, i know - in another 10 years, maybe, and she’ll be different then too, but she’ll still order a flat white and life will still be as beautiful as it is painful but she’ll learn to live in the light, most of the time.

i love her, in ways she doesn’t love herself yet - but she will. i hope i get to take her for coffee again soon.

So I'm just going to say it ...

I know there's a lot of folks who aren't feeling the new Night Court series, and it's likely not going to get renewed for another season. But I am proudly in the minority of folks who are enjoying the show and I appreciate what it's trying to do and the laughs it provides.

And this week's episode is a great example of that. Setting aside my pro-anyone-associated-with-Broadway-is-awesome bias, this week's episode was fantastic!

Sidenote: Yay! Andrew Rannells!

This episode was grounded in what felt like an honest commentary of what is going on in the world. And I especially adored it because my personal backstory is that the episode was probably born from an actual conversation someone had about or with John Larroquette in real life.

There was both silliness (the whole bit about the EDM festival in Flushing) and heart (the conversation at the end where Dan expresses how it hurt that the people he cared about where just humoring him because of his age). I love it when the show does that!

The B storyline (the lie detector test/crush on Wyatt) was just as funny as the A storyline, and it helped reveal just a little bit more about the characters as well, which is always appreciated. Character development has always been a must when it comes to any show truly resonating with me, and it's nice to see they haven't forgotten that.

I also appreciated the balance of this episode. Sure, there was a commentary about generational differences, but Julianne got to represent the cooler members of the older generations. And Andrew Rannells' character Tad represented how a bit douche-y and annoying some members of younger generations can be, especially toward older gens. The point being that ageism can go both ways. But in the end, everyone got to be funny and showcase how each person in the cast is talented in their own way.

I understand that this might be the last season of the new version, but I am unapologetically enjoying it and wish the network would give it space to find its rhythm like the original series got a chance to do. As much as I enjoyed the OG Night Court, I won't pretend that it didn't need a couple of years to find the right cocktail of talent and its own singular voice.

Surely, I'm not the only one who remembers that there was an entirely different court clerk before Charles Robinson joined in the 2nd season, 2 public defendants before Markie Post joined in the 3rd season, and 2 bailiffs before Marsha Warfield joined in the 4th season. And even though there were funny and heartfelt episodes in the first 3 seasons, the show didn't really hit its stride until the 4th season when Marsha joined the cast.

But unfortunately, audiences have shorter attention spans now, and any series that doesn't deliver nonstop gut-busting laughs in the first 2 or 3 episodes is often automatically considered "unwatchable" by the audiences who rely on a popular influencer or YouTuber to tell them what to think.

Oh well, I am determined to be grateful for what we have been allowed to enjoy. Because the show has really delivered some great laughs at a time when I most certainly needed them.

Now to convince NBC to release each season on DVD or in a downloadable permanent streaming format for those of us who would like to watch the show any time we want in the future.

AH!! How come people are so stuck on mentioning just how Ochako feels and not Izuku?

It's like some of you can't process that regardless of whether she had a crush on him or not, which again isn't a bad thing, her crush shouldn't be the only thing Ochako stands for.

It's not a personality trait and I hate it people will treat it like it is.

If anything, it just feels weird!

And I ask again, then what about Izuku? Oh, what did he not like her in the beginning? Or it's just being realizing that his mannerisms is that of a person being nervous and/or embarrassed?

Or does it not matter because "He's a guy, he's gonna have the girl anyways, so who cares if he develops romantic feelings for Ochako"?

And I wouldn't say Ochako even liked Izuku in the beginning romantically. In fact, I would say she started to like him that way during the Final War Arc.

Saying she liked him in the beginning would imply she liked him since they met.

Oh, please, the word "crush" didn't come up until season 3 during the Provisional License Exam arc. And how that scene played out, let's be real, Ochako believing she had a crush was enforced by Mina. Someone is obsessed with the idea of love. That's whose word is to be believed? Are you joking?

And I said this before, as big as Iida is, people be acting like he's invisible. Mina brought him up to in that conversation as, hello, Ochako hung around him a lot, too. Izuku just so happen to be who Ochako's attention went to because he was right in her line of sight... while practicing moves inspired by Iida!!

Now, do I think Ochako confessing her feelings undeveloped her growth? No. She accomplished what she wanted to do and I don't see Izuku making her a wife at the end. I see them deciding to reconcile a bond. Do I think Toga was forgotten? Uh, no. She is drawn right there and been on Ochako's mind for nearly a whole damn decade.

Everything about this chapter is up for debate. We don't know if that ship is truly canon and who said it has to be? And if it is, who is stopping you from not shipping it?

I know some people hate to see that IzuOcha handhold as the last shot and I get it. But I wouldn't be too pressed about given it's a part of an aftermath. You can just pretend the epilogue doesn't exist. Chapter 430 is still the complete story. You don't have to read the epilogue to fully understand the story.

Epilogues typically are just added ending scenes to show a glimpse into the future and/or to tie up loose ends. And honestly, MHA didn't need it. This was just something to have.

What I do know is I'm not on anyone's side.

I find funny that people who don't ship BakuDeku was quick to be like "I only see BakuDeku as platonic, the shippers really want them to be romantic, they're like brothers". But if anyone even implies that maybe the ending could be Izuku and Ochako rekindling their friendship, it's "how dare you, Ochako said she loved him".

Again, what about Izuku?! DID HE LIKE HER FROM THE BEGINNING?!

If BakuDeku are "like brothers", then bring up how Izuku and Ochako look like relatives. Having the same face shapes and whatnot.

Look, both sides are wrong. The behavior is ridiculous. Attacking and harassing each other over characters some of you clearly don't really care about unless it is for shipping.

I know the story isn't flawless, what story is, but it's not hard to actually read and try to understand what these characters are all about.

I'm not an expert on these characters, I'm not. But I adore them and regardless of how the writing is, I like to read their arcs and understand them better.

And there's no need to point at someone and fire lasers to do that.

If you ship BakuDeku, ship it. If you ship IzuOcha, ship it. No one is fucking stopping you. Heck, the story shouldn't stop you.

But all of this ship war bullshit is stupid. The official epilogue ain't even out yet, but here y'all go wanting to argue and argue and argue and argue and harass and harass and argue and act the fucking donkey.

"Well BakuDeku shippers are toxic!"

No, look in the mirror, sit back and do some self-reflection.

Come December, the story will be done, finished, published, sold, another one in the "Well, that manga is finished" collection.

Martyn telling Cleo that she's putting out a lot of mixed signals because she keeps reeling him in and then pushing him away, claiming he is very confused about where he stands with her

Martyn teasing Cleo by punching her off a cliff and accidentally killing her and feeling so bad about it that he apologizes profusely despite roleplaying as someone who refused to apologize for Session 1

I know how it sounds at first, but I really gotta feel bad for the boys that sacrificed edwin; I mean even the term “sacrificed edwin” paints them in a more sinister light than they really deserve– considering that wasn’t really, actually their intention.

they were bullies, they were homophobic (and/or were self loathing gay boys themselves taking it out on edwin, or were equally likely peer pressured into acting a certain way), they planned something stupid and mean to do to an innocent, anxious boy with the goal of scaring the shit out of him, all because he was effeminate and an easy target. but they didn’t know or expect any of the ritual stuff to be real. they were all laughing and joking during the ritual because it was just that to them– a joke. a cruel joke, but a joke.

teenagers can be mean and stupid and they usually regret it as adults and grow out of it / grow from it. they were stifled the chance to grow out of it, at least while alive. none of those boys deserved to be instakilled and sent to hell; they’re really not that much less deserving than edwin himself. they were all just kids, after all.
