Things I would've liked to see in Arcane S2, in no particular order:
Caitlyn doing some more heinous shit after becoming dictator. Let her be evil, damnit! Let her fuck up the Firelights' sanctuary to achieve whatever goal! Make some people mad!
More of a sense of the power struggle between Ambessa and Caitlyn. Let Caitlyn look into the disappearances as well, or at least give us a sense of what she thinks is going on. Maybe give Shoola something to do after even Salo left. Make the upper class of Piltover feel more alive.
Give Caitlyn the initiative in her turn away from Ambessa, mirror Vi choosing to trust Jinx while facing to Warwick here, and have it take a little more to get them on the same page.
Let Ekko and Jinx actually rally Zaun in the final act. The way they're seen by their people was a pretty big deal, and I would've liked to see that go somewhere in the climax.
Actually, have Zaun actually discuss what to do in the Noxus/Piltover war. Both sides oppressed Zaun pretty badly, so maybe there's some people who want to support Noxus (a very small group), or who figure they're happy to let their enemies fight it out. Let Sevika, Scar and the Jinxers about this.
Hell, let Sevika show up at all after episode 4! Isha was important to her too! Have her and Jinx suggest building a statue for her, like Silco did for Vander, as another notch to help Jinx stand upright.
When Jayce and Mel come back, have them reckon with what Caitlyn did to their city, and have them take some time to forge the place back together.
Let Zaun negotiate with Piltover for their aid! Give them more than just one seat on the council amongst people who already look down on them (although I think Sevika is canny enough to get the most out of it, it's a real consolation price for a group of people willing to abandon their own homies to rally to the defense of yours), and make Ekko a prominent voice here.
Warwick in episode 9 didn't really do much for me. Any of the emotional beats there were already covered in episode 6. Not sure what to do with him instead, though. Maybe make Vi and Jinx protect others from him more explicitly?
By emphasising the Piltover/Zaun conflict more, you can have Vi be more conflicted about where she falls on that divide.
Ambessa also lobbies to get Zaun on board, maybe pulls some Renni shenanigans again. Actually get me invested in that grand climax.
Same goes for Viktor, honestly. Maybe give his conversation with Mel and Jayce a bit more weight. His turn to Ambessa and Singed's side is a bit abrupt (and also very much caused by Jayce killing him, so his moral high ground in that conversation is a bit weird).
Don't make Jayce talk shit about Viktor's terminal illness, goddamnit. Heimerdinger's whole arc was about how corrosive that attitude was, and the conclusion of it was that you can't sit down on your laurels because change will keep happening with or without you. I think that makes for a much more compelling argument against Viktor's philosophy at this point.
No notes on Singed. What a ledge.
Overall, I think the show needed a bit more breathing room to build up to the level the climax was operating on. It left a bit too much of what I cared about behind to get there, and adding an act could've been a way to alleviate some of that.

My thoughts about last three episodes of Arcane season two- it’s a mess, full of spoilers, you read this on your own responsibility 😁
In one reality it was Vander who had died at the very beginning of their story and in the end was followed by Jinx- this one was (almost) destroyed
In another it was Vi- this reality thrived
One death, changed everything.
I know stories like this are old as theories about dimensions and time travel itself. Change one thing and everything may crumble or the opposite… but this, was beautiful.
I wish Vi could see how Powder could’ve grow up. I wish Vander and Powder could see who Vi has become (because sorry, Ekko didn’t tell too much)
I wish Jinx could see, that she could be good. See who she has become in another possibility. Poor child. But at least Ekko showed her something.
And another thing
Zaun and Piltover fighting together?
Gimme more, haha
I want Isha back so badly. 😭😭😭
Fuck that doctor who invented shimmer. But at least his daugher is alive.
Not Vi and Caitlyn having sex in the cell looool
Fuck Maddie, (sure, she was cute but well…), we all knew there was something behind that baby face of hers. Well, now she’s dead at least. All haters rejoice!!!
Poor Sky, you think Viktor doesn’t remember her or what? Why did she say he won’t miss their talks?
What is Mel up to now? She’s gonna fight the Black Rose? Or did she defeat them now? I am slightly confused about that part of her story. Btw, how did she learn to control her powers so quickly? Though… maybe not so quickly? How much time has passed for her between the revelation and the fight with Ambessa?
I liked Caithlyn and Mel both standing up to the Ambessa. I mean it. It was satisfying as fuck.
Jinx, Ekko and Sevika saving the day? Great!!!
Older alternative Viktor looked so fine!!! That is illegal lol
And him helping Jayce to get to his Viktor? Over and over and over again? That was beautiful.
This whole scene where Jace and Vik talked and then stopped all this shit was so beautiful.
Gonna miss those two science bois
Sevika joining the council wasn’t something I expected. But I definitely like the idea. I hope now the two cities will learn on their mistakes. I hope they will work together.
Why was Caithlyn looking at Hexgates again?
Oh, and she was fidgeting with Jinx monkey head. Nice detail.
What fight did exactly Caithlyn mean? Sb knows?
What was that with the airship in the end?
I am not sure what happened to Heimerdinger, he’s dead or what? I think so. That’s a little sad, I liked his relationship with Ekko
The ending was both satisfying and not. I suppose their story continues. Only… how will it end? There is no season 3, right?

Arcane Season 2 Part 2 thoughts and theories
Because holy shit this show has grabbed me and isn't letting go, cannot wait till next.
Also what the fuck, I need to process
So right off the bat the pacing is a lot faster, like I remember Season 1 was like being on a rollcoaster, this feels like jumping out of a plane. Exhilarating, but definitely an escalation. Still works though, at least so far.
I knew Isha was fated to die the second I saw her in the previews, she was just too damn cute and too damn close to Jinx for the writers to resist, and honestly I'm kind of OK with it? As interesting as Jinx essentially retiring to be a stay at home mum was I think I'd rather see her process grief from a position of love rather than trauma. Plus, you know, Isha wanted to be just like Jinx, and what's more Jinx than blowing up Vander?
Speaking of the most dysfunctional family anywhere in Zaun, Piltover or anywhere else, holy shit I loved Warwick in this, a genuinely terrifying werewolf that spat blood everywhere and yet made you feel genuine sorrow at his condition as well. Dude's been through it and then some.
Cait and Vi are still going strong through their divorce arc as I knew they would, with everything that's gone on these two are solidly locked in as the end game couple now. One more argument to let Vi finally get a win in (because seriously, for being the designated bruiser she can't win a fist fight for shit this season) before the much anticipated sex scene that they allegedly upped the rating for. Going off Vi spitting on Cait and then her wiping it across her mouth, shit's going to get freaky.
I've already reblogged something about Viktor but I just want to say I absolutely loved every part of the compound, but especially how understatedly creepy the whole thing was? Like, yeah, art nouveau cyber-magic hivemind hippies, fucking awesome, but none of feel like real people, at least compared to Zaun or Piltover. I think the flashes of them we get from Jayce's perspective of them as warped and broken puppets is accurate, they are peaceful because Viktor thinks that's what peace and cooperation look like, when in reality it's more like unquestioning obedience. Shame though, I really did love Viktor's whole mind quest to the soul of Vander, regardless of how badly it went.
As for Jayce, big theory time; this is a time travel plot now and we're seeing Jayce at the end of it. Those flashes we see are actually from some hypothetical bad future where Viktor expands his 'glorious evolution' to all of Piltover and Zaun and it all goes horribly wrong, hence why he looks so much older (even accounting for the.....roughly 4 months, I guess, time skip) and so incredibly haggard and traumatized. Dude's got a Mad Max shout out knee brace, you don't just get those unless you're from The Dark Future™. My guess is Viktor asked Jayce to go back and kill him, which is why he keeps repeating he won't fail and just kills Viktor with basically zero hesitation. Or, more accurately, kills the Hexcore, leaving Viktor alive(ish) to become something else. After all, from what I can tell from the League lore videos I watched a while back, VIktor used to be able to buy a Hexcore prototype that looked like the purple one we saw, but also had a normal Hexcore that provided different upgrades. He might start again down a different road that avoids the Bad Future but which makes him more of the explicit villain.

jinx and his hallucinations & self harm s2
in general i think s2 lacks the depth it originally gave jinx's mental health in s1 but im still gonna look at it
s2 i think we see another attempt. or the starts of attempt as hes letting silco go underwater. he wants so badly to follow him. forcing all her air out so she can drown and follow him faster. staying under the waves until every part of his being is screaming for oxygen and survival instincts force her above the water again. she lives, but is depressed and aimless. she's reckless and impulsive. nothing matters anymore so she shoots whoever she wants and does whatever she wants. this is passive suicide attempts. like walking in front of a car and not caring if it stops or not. she hopes someone catches her a kills her.
after vi and the enforcers gas her and come after her, she finds a new fury a new energy to fight. to kill vi and herself. to finish her family, which is why she fights back against smeech and teams up with sevika.
so she sets up the plan to be for her to die in the fight and then reroute the gas back to piltover as her final plan. but of course, isha stops this by interrupting vi right before she lands the killing blow.
after this we see jinx looking after and playing wish isha, while isha is going out and trying to take up the role of "jinx" for her. because she's given up. "jinx" died in that fight because that was what she planned for. he most likely just stays in his hideout with isha from this point on, cultivating their bond. isha becomes all the matters to her.
a start of an episode is triggered when sevika brings up silco and starts trying to guilt him into becoming a symbol. this when she goes to talk to silco. but he never appears.
jinx talks aloud hoping that he'd talk back, even a hallucination. but he never turns up. these two stressors build up and break when isha is taken.
only NOW does silco's hallucination turn up among the others and the specific audio lines we hear are mostly from the party scene. this is an episode triggered by guilt. feeling responsible for isha possibly getting hurt or even getting killed. feeling guilty for not wanting to fight anymore when silco gave so much to keep her alive. to her, its the exact same as when she shot him. only does physical pressure on her eyes take her out of it. but the energy is transferred to her shimmer. ( i think on my blog it probably took more extreme measures to get her out of this headspace, similar to the first episode we see with powder eg, head punching ).
to save isha and the other zaunites, he reembraces the jinx persona, only to meet someone who immediately challenges this again. i think this plants seeds of doubt that fester.
jinx's next attempt is fighting against warwick. they hear this huge thing coming to fight and see it turn an enforcer into nothing but a blood stain as well as barely react to her hextech gun and jinx thinks "well im going to lose but i may as well distract it so that sevika can get isha out of here".
she fights until she can't anymore and then tries to go out via a chomper. the same way she tried to before with ekko. but warwick/vander stops her. and right then she realizes that she might be able to fix everything. vander was alive. and so, her new reason to live is both isha and helping vander, trying to rebuild the family she ruined before. this is why he goes straight to vi, having heard that she might be in the zaun fighting pits, she easily follows her. seeing her drinking habits and that she's taking out her anger in fighting, she isn't fully surprised, but feels sad and empathetic. another part of her is glad that whatever happened, happened though because caitlyn clearly isn't in the picture anymore.
there's another passive attempt or an acceptance when vi is choking jinx out. he doesn't fight in this encounter because he's coming to talk, coming to try and establish peace to help vander. but, she'd be fine if vi killed her right then and there. we can also see how vi cares little for jinx's mental health now. calling them as tricks and bullshit in comparison to how understanding she had been in s1 on the rooftop. later in the mines, vi also calls them fantasies and calls jinx delusional. im sure some of this is from her time spent in piltover and picking up on the ableist nature up there.
we see the second time the vi calls her delusional, it triggers something. originally not wanting to fight, but now feeling like she had to defend herself. because to her, they're very real and she often times can't tell between reality and mental health episode. it hurts to hear vi diminish this and so, she bites back. only for vi to follow with more ableist language with "psycho" to which jinx is exasperated that vi wants to fight right now. jinx then starts echoing what she's heard people say about her, calling her a hero. she's performing what people think of her for vi. trying to impress her. of course, the fight only gets worse, vi pulling on his hair until isha gets caught in the crossfire. fighting vi isn't important to her like isha is. finding silco's jacket down there is both grounding and triggering at once somehow. i think part of vi and jinx's future reconciliation stems from vi protecting isha from warwick. as well as vi trusting jinx about warwick/vander.
in the commune, jinx is the most stable we've seen her in awhile. vi even asking for her input on decisions. its also a huge deal for her when vi asks her to keep an eye on caitlyn, showing to jinx that vi trusts and cares about her more. of course, this all goes awry when viktor dies, losing vander again. trying to calm him down, she gets hurt and flung away which im sure would start something by itself but then right after this, isha grabs his gun and dives in.
jinx was going to go in after them but vi forcibly holds him back. losing isha was the final straw. she breaks. all energy and all fight is drained from her and she feels empty in a way she never felt before. he thought the pit couldn't get any deeper after silco's death but she was wrong. while mania/hypermania is his normal trigger response, instead we see an extreme depression. jinx surrenders. she is a jinx and a curse. theres nothing to fight for anymore.
she refuses to eat and drink as we see when caitlyn visits. intending to rot away in the cell. knowing it's caitlyn through the bars she, as directly as she can, asks her to kill her. we also see jinx's skin picking habit. making herself bleed, before seeing similar patterning on all her other fingers too. jinx has been sat in this cell harming herself in anyway they can without having the energy to formulate a real plan to die let alone execute it. "there are no happy endings" he says because any time he's gotten close, he ruined it somehow and the people he loved died. the very core of his being can't believe in happiness anymore. something is always destined to go wrong.
starved, cold, hurting. her hallucinations are at their worse. they feel real. (this is my excuse for why these hallucinations arent stylized like they always have been). she simply tells him to go away and that he's too late. there's not energy for them to feed into and she's given up. she keeps picking at herself while he's talking here. either trying to make the hallucination go away since pain had always helped (perhaps she had thought caitlyn before was one too) or it just being a habit now. he convinces her to leave. just in time for vi to turn up. he barely reacts to her sister. only moving to get what she wants, the keys, so she can get away to kill herself.
jinx cuts his hair, only out of necessity. he's lethargic, and silco isn't there to help her tie it up, so she cuts it off. a form of mental self harm as well in a way, destroying a huge part of her identity and forcing her to leave it behind. she burns down the last drop. one of the last places she felt safe. i think she tried to burn herself in the flames based on the shots of her in there and was unsuccesful, forcing her into another plan. making it back to her hideout to grab a monkey bomb, similar to what killed vander, mylo and claggor.
of course, then ekko turns up to try and stop her. the only thing that changes is when he says he doesn't want to blow up.
so, jinx jumps instead, not wanting to hurt ekko too. only then is he able to find the right words. ekko implying some kind of hope, and seeing the monkey on his z-drive, something she can only presume is good if ekko has it. i think she still doesn't have any hope. i think the final battle is more for ekko than for her. the whole time she's hoping she can die during a fight. thats why she uses her hideout as a ship. she'd got nothing left to loose. its the same as when she started playing into being a symbol, she's doing it again for everyone else. and damn is she a good performer.
i think as soon as vander swings at vi and jinx after they've crashed, jinx realizes he's gone for good. there's something in her expression that says it idk.
and then we get to her "sacrifice". i put it in quotes firstly; bc you cant establish a character as being suicidal (she literally brings her tool to do it with her to battle) and then in the next scene have them die and pretend it wasn't motivated by the want to end it all and secondly; riot loves jinx too much as a character she makes too much money to fully commit to killing her.
but anyway. she gives up on vander so fast bc she knew at the start of the battle he wasnt in there. its also a representation of her giving up on herself most likely, telling vi to get away and save herself rather than sticking around to try and help.
jinx is not letting anyone else die because of her, and so, she takes him out with her.

Arcane season 2 spoilers
SCATTERED observations and thoughts after the second batch of arcane season 2, need to get it out here since i hadn't done it for act 1
The music montage make a mark for a fair amount of time skipper episode. I also do think there is a fair bit of time passing in between scenes but not enough for a montage.
I really like Isha doing her own thing and actively encouraging the symbol of jinx of fight back. She says a lot through her actions.
Loving the new information we get to uncover in these batch of episodes, bit of backstory of the older generation and how it connects to now. and unknown future shit with Jayce and what we know of league lore (Defender of tomorrow, what did you see?)
I keep pointing and cackling whenever Singed appears, what are you up to old man and how is it gonna fuck up other characters? His actions and little plans have so much consequences. They aren't really given a whamm shot and gives you a slow burn on whats he is about.
Yeah I know he is horrible and love that bout him. absolutely fascinating. Love me some stoic scientists with no ethics fucking about.
Him showing up to the rally at Vander's statue then summoning Warwick when the raid begins. I am cackling.
Warwick lets goooooooooo
Singed has a funny way of comforting children with unknown secret of his creations.
The dread I feel for the freed Zaunites knowing that Warwick is coming.
I like that Singed didn't know Jinx and Sevika were coming, and so the Zaunites and Isha was indeed not staying there for very long. unfortunately he also knows Warwick was coming, dipped out of looking after the kid when the two came to pick her up, who had a probability of being be fine/ignored by Warwick when she was left in a cell on the opposite side of his.
what the fuck was he gonna do when warwick finally gets there like ??? baffling how was he gonna stop a blood rampaging werewolf
I do like he stayed to make a deal with Ambessa for the long term. He really ain't intimidated by Caitlyn. Caitlyn he lives like that on a regular basis you aren't threatening him like that.
Singed fans are eating is what I am sayin
also Singed and Ambessa combo, knew it. ho boy
Thoughts are so scatter but know that I have so much thoughts on Singed, how we get to see this side of him in Arcane as a character with a bit of humanity left, his mission for his daughter holding it for him until it would probably succeed but also end badly enough to say fuck it lets just go all science for progress in style of his League lore
His daughter in a golden casket with transparent glass to see her, not propped up as a display but essentially half dead half alive, ready to be buried but also to be revived. Fucker got commitment to this fr fr
buhh i was not able to note all the shit i love in this chapter but have at thee
Vi and Jinx reconnecting through attempting to help Vander and his memories. Also Vi seeing Jinx interact with Isha.
Also the Vander and Silco and the Parents' backstory glimpses. Quad parenting is what I'm saying. Or atleast like the message of Undercity being a family through and through. Everyone was so close.
The Converted Slum though. Good but also the vibes of it as someone who knows League lore.
Viktorrr, doing good and but also him dedicating his whole self again to help someone. He really just wants to help in the way he can. His patience and dedication shining once more
I imagine the plants outside the slums commune were possibly inspired by Sky's study on plants on her book
We love to see Kino but oh that audio and shots to the water, we know oh we know its her
Mel acting on instinct on the magic dungeon puzzle when she was trapped. She was definitely being tested there if she was the one the Black Rose wanted. Her surprise on how she was able to somehow know what to do makes me think she definitely wasn't lying to Jayce of how they both got unscratched by the Rocket. Its definitely magic golden tattoos making a shield.
I love that Mel and Victor got another parallel of having a magical force masquerading as a person they could trust to do something in their favour
Jayce got so fucked up from his Hextech interdimensional travel. Quite possibly a wild-magic/void corrupted apocalypse full of transformed hollowed out cultists from Viktor's group. What did you see maann?? I think we'd get his POV along with Ekko and Heimder's next act.
Definitely think both Jayce and Viktor are just doing what they think is best.
So Jayce how does it feel to save your lab 'partner' only to have to kill him to prevent a probably apocalypse, with that survivors guilt and probably savior complex of yours
Man is going through it, probably hadn't had good news since he disappear too, continuing on from act 1 of bad shit happening to him personally
That scene where the converted 'died' and seemingly gets hollowed out of magic, hoo boy. Its like the Commune had the whole vibe of Inspiration rune but then you know that there must be some Void shit happening here.
Do you think that Singed's serum stopped whatever would have happened to Vander who was getting the magic threatment (hollow and empty), but also made it worse (fucking lava through the orifices)
Isha really be out here rhyming history. Many hexorbs in a device to save someone you love bound to be a disaster. I'm giving a bit of hope for her here against the hex stuff since they tend to be more force damage focus. So if the gun chamber doesn't explode, just uh survive that falling possible corpse of a man-werewolf of her and she should be good.
Vi hugging Jinx down to protect her from the explosion.
should be noted we still are missing a scene from the trailers of the converted glowing and levitating. May not be done with that location just yet. Sacrifice cultist for Viktor revival? If not well RIP be it dead or a certain someone is gonna try to revive you.
If those two are dead, Singed will probably get Vander and Viktor's corpse and get the knowledge he needs to heal and transform Orianna. Follow that trail of the Apex of Chemtech/Alchemy and the Apex of Hextech/Magic.
Also I wanna note Rictus being the second of command present for Ambessa. Keeping an eye out, having opinions shared to her and also the shots we get of him nothing something like when Ambessa and Caitlyn were sparring and the important of kin to her, and has ofc fighting skills. And now he is gone and Ambessa loses another person close to her.
Gonna be fun to see more Singed & Ambessa interactions considering their similarities and dedication for their own respective daughter. Would Ambessa order Singed to study Hextech? Singed could tell her his student happens to be one of the inventors of hextech and gave him notes. Or he could keep that to himself and just pipe up to say 'hey lemme try'
Speaking of Ambessa, I really like her interactions with Caitlyn. It's clear she is going through it knowing Mel was kidnapped but also have this new girl she can mentor/attempt to direct to her goals.
There are definitely more thoughts in my noggin but I need a rewatch

Not all I have to say regarding Under TIDES, but a few things I want to get off my chest immediately because I’m hype as hell right now for cool new lore, character building and worldbuilding (SPOILERS, OF COURSE):
Gladiia is in fact Specter’s Captain in the Abyssal Hunters.
Skadi cares so, so much for Specter. There were a number of theories about why this could be but this event more or less heavily hints towards the least complicated one: They were girlfriends very close in the past.
Skadi was not in the same division as Gladiia and Specter.
Skadi remembers and doesn’t particularly like Gladiia.
Skadi has hardcore Survivor’s Guilt and is convinced she gets people killed around her due to a curse.
We meet Old Jose, Skadi’s old bounty hunter partner and friend. He had kept on him her red dress and lyre, which he returns to her.
Skadi was a bounty hunter because she figured that if her ‘curse’ that got everyone around her killed was to follow her forever, she might as well live among who she considered to be the worst kind of people... Thought process that changed due to friends she made, like Old Jose, bounty hunter and good person, hence why she also becomes a lone wolf bounty hunter.
Skadi likes Rhodes Island a lot.
Skadi is a good singer and plays the lyre really well but doesn’t like to do it in front of others, saying she needs “a proper stage”. It’s understandable, since song probably has rather intimate connotations for Abyssal Hunters.
Abyssal Hunters can indeed sense each other. They refer to it as using their ‘nose’, mainly due to them ‘smelling sea water’ when in proximity to one another, but it goes beyond mere smell. Skadi, for example, senses Specter as a combination of both seawater smell and a gentle song she can hear. On the other hand, Skadi senses Gladiia as colder seawater than Specter and an old song.
Gladiia’s real name is Gla-dia, Skadi’s real name is Isha-mla, we do not know Specter’s real name.
Specter’s spinal cord is so unbelievably, extremely infected that, if used wrong, it could infect a whole country for starters. The fact that she’s not gone fully insane and that she’s even alive at all is credited to just how ungodly tough she is and her natural regenerative abilities.
Specter is VERY coveted due to her spinal cord, including by the Church of The Abyss (which would require another post to explain it).
Skadi points out that Specter is much weaker than how she was before due to how badly Oripathy has ravaged her body. Gladiia initially says that’s nonsense, as Hunters don’t become weak, but then realizes that Hunters never dealt with Landborn diseases before. Gladiia then says that’s not an issue, however, since Specter is also a phenomenal fighter and more than makes up for it.
Gladiia herself is far colder and far more pragmatic than Skadi and Specter, but not heartless.
We actually see Lucid, Not Insane Specter! She’s kind of a good natured shitter and likes to joke around. Apparently, the permanent smile she wears normally as Insane!Specter is actually a remnant of her having a rather cheerful personality in general. She, in fact, smiles most of the time when lucid.
Lucid!Specter awakened when Skadi threw her buzzsaw at her and screamed that she needed her help right this second, to which Specter reacted by shoving her whole arm through her containment tank, breaking it, catching the buzzsaw, looking down on their enemy at the moment, smiling, and saying something to the effect of “You are SO fucked right now”.
Specter calls Gladiia “Swordfish”, which Gladiia apparently just came to accept after failing to dissuade her from using the nickname.
Specter considers both Gladiia and Skadi her friends and expressed to be very happy to “see them again, after so long”.
One of the first things Lucid!Specter does is complain about Rhodes Island food jgiw4gji4. “Swordfish, can you BELIEVE they don’t eat or prepare seaweed meals at all in Rhodes Island? It’s beyond barbaric! And Skadi doesn’t say anything!”
Skadi, Specter and Gladiia have a lot of banter, which hasn’t been translated yet but translators say it’s really good.
Kal’tsit’s intent and dynamic with Specter is finally cleared: They are quite friendly with each other when Specter’s lucid, it is not clear if they are also old friends, and Kal’tsit tells Specter to enjoy whatever time of sanity she has left, because there’s no guarantee she won’t relapse, but even if she does, to never lose hope and keep fighting: They don’t have the technology to cure Specter now, Kal’tsit explains, but that doesn’t discount the future, and that she’ll never give up on her.
Likewise, Kal’tsit gives Skadi some encouraging words regarding the next part:
OKAY I’M PUTTING THIS ONE DOWN HERE IN THE LIST IN CASE ANYONE ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED OR IN CASE READ MORE DOESN’T WORK OR SOMETHING BECAUSE THIS ONE IS HUGE: Abyssal Hunters are very much like Bloodborne Hunters, that is, they are not truly Aegir, but rather, a mix between Aegir and Sea Monsters. Abyssal Hunters are weapons created by the Aegir with parts of Sea Monsters to combat Sea Monsters, hence how different they are even from the already very different Aegirs we know of like Thorns and Weedy. Just like Hunters in Bloodborne, Abyssal Hunters are reviled by Aegirs, because even though they created them and the Hunters defend them, they are still part Sea Monster and too different.
And just like Hunters, Abyssal Hunters are fated to one day turn into Sea Monsters, a la Cleric Beast. Skadi’s sister apparently turned into a Sea Monster long ago and had to be killed (apparently Gladiia did the deed, not sure). Skadi’s mom apparently also turned.
SKADI DIDN’T TAKE THE NEWS WELL BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T KNOW.
She absolutely broke. Like, convulsing and shit, over these news. Existential crisis WOOOO.
I won’t explain how that is handled though that’s another post in itself.
The thing is, Sea Monsters seek to kill Abyssal Hunters because they think they are helping them: Sea Monsters perceive Abyssal Hunters as their kin trapped in the skin of Aegirians, so they cut them open to free their brothers and sisters. They are, in a way, correct.
Holy SHIT DUDE.

It wasn’t until the front door closed behind Ivan that the reality of her situation sank in. Dmitri was furious. He might have faked it for his friend, but he stood next to her, a pillar of stone with anger coming off him in waves. His grip on her elbow didn’t hurt, but if she’d tried to leave, he would have restrained her.
She should be afraid. She should be terrified.
Keira’s heartbeat picked up, adrenaline kicking in. She swung to face him with a fierce smile on her face. “You didn’t compliment me on my dress.” It was a work of fucking art. She smoothed her free hand over her hip and up her side. “Actually, you called me a high-class sex worker. Is that any way to speak to your beloved wife?”
His gray eyes followed the movement, a muscle ticking in his jaw when she cupped her breast. “I meant it when I said you’re playing with fire.”
That wasn’t just anger on his face now. No, it was rapidly being overtaken by sheer lust. An answering feeling sent a bolt straight to her core. She stepped back, and he released her instantly. A strange feeling coursed through her, straightening her spine and making her want to laugh out loud. Power. This is what power feels like.
He wanted her. He wanted her so badly, he had his hands clenched at his sides to keep from touching her again. But he wouldn’t until she gave the green light. Keira took another step back. “I have a hypothetical question.”
“Ask.” His voice was rough. The way he watched her made her feel like prey, and she liked it far more than she should—because she wasn’t prey. Keira had her own teeth and claws, and Dmitri would learn that as time went on.
“Hypothetical, if I said yes tonight…how do you imagine that would go?”
He stared at her a long moment. “Nyet. I’m not playing this game with you.” She blinked and he was on her, one hand snaking around to press against the exposed small of her back, the other tangling in her hair. “We are not children, moya koroleva. These games don’t become us.”
He kissed her. There was no cautious exploration or easing into it. Dmitri kissed her like a conquering warlord who was sure of his welcome because he owned everything in the room—including her. There was no fighting this. She didn’t even want to try. Keira slid her arms around his neck and pressed herself more firmly against him. His cock was a hard length with too many layers between them. She rolled her hips, an invitation she wasn’t sure she was ready to follow through on.
Dmitri slid his hand down to cup her ass, guiding her movements. Long slides up the length of his cock and back down again. The stupid goddamn dress kept her from spreading her legs wider, from getting him exactly where she needed him. Her nipples rubbed against his shirt, the silk incredibly decadent across her sensitized skin.
“Keira. Moya koroleva.” He kissed down her jawline, tilting her head back until she had to arch her spine to accommodate the position. “Did you enjoy their eyes on you? Ivan’s. The men who owe allegiance to me. Anyone who cared to look.”
It took her desire-drugged brain a beat to catch up, but by then he was already growling out more words against her skin. “Did it make you feel powerful to know they were imagining stroking the nipples you flash with such impunity?” He moved his hand from her ass to do exactly that, dragging a finger over her puckered nipple. “They wanted the body you so proudly put on display.” His voice roughened. “They wanted what’s mine.”
Say something. If you don’t say something right now, you’re going to give in tonight and then it will all be over.
He moved his hand to her back and bent her until she relied solely on his strength to keep her off the ground. And then Dmitri’s wicked, wicked mouth closed around her nipple. The weight of the beaded design seemed heavier with his tongue flicking the engorged bud, making his touch that much hotter. She couldn’t hold back a moan as he moved to her other breast.
Dmitri dragged his mouth up the center of her chest, the only part of her not caged in the dress, stopping at the thick collar. He flicked the hollow of her throat with his tongue. “This is my favorite part of the dress.” He ran his thumb over it. “This, more than anything else, marks you as mine.”
A collar for a kept pet.
It was as if he’d doused her in icy water. Keira went rigid and shoved Dmitri away. She almost fell when he released her, but she regained her balance at the last second. They stood mere feet apart, breathing hard and staring at each other. I am no one’s pet. She slashed her hand through the air. “I might be your wife, Russian, but I’m not yours. I’ll never be yours.”
