converted all my kindle books to epub and ordered a kobo and I think this officially ends my being stuck with anything in the amazon ecosystem
might finally bite the bullet and replace my kindle with a kobo
#let me know if you want the video I used that explained how to convert with calibre#but yeah I switched from audible to libro.fm a while ago#I canceled my yearly prime subscription because of the pricing going insane and will just get it when I actually wanna use it#and now the only thing I was still regularly buying from amazon was ebooks and that's officially done#like I still order stuff but sparingly and mostly I avoid it anyway for big stuff#because holy shit the scamming on that site has gotten bad and they do nothing about it#and luckily they'll accept returns pretty much no question#but don't stop people from selling bootlegs as real in the first place#anyway and occasionally I buy music files because they do actually let you download and own the files#but that's pretty much only if I can't get a CD or find a good quality mp3 online for free#I've had a kindle for like 15 years and had like the FIRST one so yeah

I’m back on my musical bullshit so here are my (objectively correct) opinions
We need more proshoots of shows
Now you might be thinking : well they already have to shoot film of the show for their archives- and yes I KNOW. So WHY can I not get a DECENT RECORDING of beetlejuic?
Because of corporate greed!!!
We dont want a Wicked movie!!
We want a good recording of the stage play!!!
You see how well Hamilton did when it got its proshoot released
We want that!!
I want that!!!
I want to be able to see The Great Gatsby without having to drive over 70 miles to the nearest theatre and then shelling out at least a hundred bucks!!
As much as I love and adore musicals I hate how we the musical loving community subsist on broadway scraps. Little bootlegs that we collect and share amongst ourselves from the brave people who sneakily film them for the rest of us to watch. I’m not booing them. What I’m saying is that (especially in this economy) a lot of people aren’t wealthy enough to go see live shows anymore. Even just the movie theatre is a splurge, heaven forbid off broadway. And even more people live in rural areas and even if they can maybe afford the money for a ticket, the time to get there and back and gas prices are abominable.
As much as I am willing to pirate basically everything (because I am poor) I would willingly shell out the money for a good musical streaming service just to make a point that this is what we the people want.
Now, the reason they have given for not doing this even though every musical have been filmed for their archives which they refuse to share is that they think that will cheapen the work. Make it too accessible to the point that no one will go see live shows anymore because they can just watch them on the tv and it’s like they don’t even know their audience at all.
There are so many benefits to making broadway stage productions more accessible the first being that more people could find them! If they love the show they are going to want to see it live! And they can know whether or not they love the show of they can watch it without paying a hundred dollars. More people could gain an appreciation for the art. It could inspire the next playwrites, directors, and set designers, but with the way things are right now only the people who can afford to see it live or the people who go to the internet archive and watch the bootlegs because they dumped hours into figuring out how to find the decent recordings can even know how wonderful it is.
I know I’m just ranting and there is probably no one who will see this and be able to just make a broadway service but I just had to spew my words. So anyway art is dead, Bo Burnham was right and trying to warn us all along and I’m going to go watch some Fred Astaire movies.
Thank you and goodnight *jazz hands sadly*

ok, if y’all have seen one of earlier posts, i was saying that i desperately needed a bootleg of “The Outsiders Musical” because i’m actually a whore for The Outsiders. well, funny enough, I don’t need it anymore because i was able to watch it in NY 😭 it’s a whole thing, but now i need to talk about it.
spoilers ahead!!!!
The Review, Thoughts, and Opinions, of “The Outsiders Musical” from A Theatre Kid
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to watch the original cast. The show I watched had pretty much all of the Understudies for the Greasers, except for Sodapop (Jason Schmidt) and Dallas (Joshua Boone). Thankfully, those understudies were phenomenal, so I’m definitely not complaining. They put on such a spectacular show, and they deserve so much credit and recognition for the work they’ve put into this.
Take my review with a grain of salt. I’m no professional. Just an enjoyer of musicals, who’s been in a few herself.
Oh, and speaking of credit and recognition, I need to talk Techies before I deep dive into the characters and their respective actors.
The Technical Aspects:
Choreo
Dude, that choreography was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I loved the way that they utilized every part of their stage and props. The dancing and jumping off of the car was so cool. I think my favorite choreo moments have to be “Run Run Brother” and the rumble scene. The way the planks were used to hide and carry and Johnny and Ponyboy was so enthralling to watch. And the rumble scene was so cool. I’m going to go into detail about this scene later.
Sounds
The sound crew is so talented. I loved the muffled, underwater sounds when Ponyboy was being drowned. I loved the train noises. I loved how balanced all the mics were. There were literally no issues that I could point out at my show with mics going out. They were perfect. I loved when those quick flashes of lights would happen and everything blacks out, the noises that went with it. I loved the noises when Ponyboy gets jumped (and the other characters too, but Ponyboy gets jumped a lot) and his head hits the car. The unconscious noises that followed. So good.
Lights
The lights were so cool. I thought it was interesting (and maybe it’s because I’ve never seen a Broadway show before this) how there were no handheld spotlights. I’m not a light person, so idk how it all works, but they were like programmed to follow them or they were moving the lights from their booth? Anyways, it was cool. The sunrise was beautiful. The church glass mural reflecting onto the ground was so cool. I loved the quick black-outs, with that singular light flashing. Idk how to describe it, but I loved it.
Props / Set
Dude the set was so cool. The gravel, the cars. I loved the cars. I loved how they used that one car the entire show and made it into different things. I loved how the Socs car moved. I loved the use of the planks. They were benches, they were hiding spots during “Run Run Brother”, they were Johnny’s death bed, they were used during the church burning. I thought it was cool that they used real food during that final scene between the Curtis boys. I loved all the climbing they did. On that jungle-gym looking thing on stage right, and the utilization of the higher parts of the stage. Pony and Johnny hung out there, ensemble/Socs/dally was there during “Tulsa ‘67 (Reprise)”. So cool. I loved the tire full of water, and how they put that topper on it so they could stand or sit or dance on it.
Costumes/Hair/Makeup
I live for Ponyboy’s blonde wig. That was hilarious.
The costumes were great! I liked that they didn’t completely base them off of the movie costumes and went for something a little different. I did find it funny how (and I think that was at the drive-in, or one of the scenes leading up to it) that Ponyboy had Johnny’s jacket in the movie, and Musical-Johnny had the cut-off sleeve jean jacket — similar to watch Ponyboy was wearing in the movie. Was it intentional? I guess we’ll never know.
I think the use of fake blood falls under this category? If not… womp womp.
The blood was so cool. I loved during the rumble scene how one minute all the boys had clean faces, and then when they were all center stage, fighting slo-mo, lights turning on and off, how they slowly started getting blood all over their faces and clothes. I thought it was so cool the use of blood during Bob’s death. He got stabbed, lights went on and off, each time showing a different pose of the actors, and Bob’s shirt just got bloodier and bloodier.
Music / Orchestra
The orchestra was amazing. I didn’t notice anything go wrong, everything sounded very smoothly. They did so good.
So, apparently some people have actually complained about the music? I really liked it, but I also see where they’re coming from. Loved the country feel to the songs — bc it’s literally set in Oklahoma. But, I also would’ve liked to get more of that 60s feel (think Elvis and the Beatles) rather than a modern feel.
But overall, I really enjoyed it. I’m not gonna sit here and legitimately complain, bc I didn’t hate it, I just was expecting a different vibe.
Idk Where To Categorize These
I also loved the use of the flashlights. Blinding? Yes. But, cool?? Abso-fucking-lutely.
Uhm, the rain??? Excuse me? I knew that that was in the show, but seeing it live was so much cooler. Like, how the hell do you even do that? I’ve never heard of something like that before. It was so cool.
The pyrotechnics was so cool!! There was soooo much fire. More and more fire popped up as the church-fire scene progressed, which was just 😫😫
The Actors and Their Characters:
So, when it comes to diving into the specifics of the characters, I do think it would be better to watch it a second time to be able to understand them better (that’s what I do with movies. First time you watch, it’s for entertainment. The second time, it’s to dissect it). And I say that because I am most familiar with the original source material. That’s what I was comparing this musicals and these characters to when I watched it. If I were able to watch it a second time, I don’t think I’d have that holding me back in my initial critique, because it did change the way I thought. If that makes any sense???
That being said, I do understand that books, movies, and musicals are all three completely different pieces of media. I don’t think that they should be compared too insanely harshly because the details that you can add into a book cannot always be reiterated in the movie. Musicals are a completely different territory, a different audience, and sometimes the flow that makes sense in a book or movie does not make sense in a musical.
Ok, moving on now. Just needed to put that out there as I critique and compliment these characters :)
The Ensemble
They had a very small ensemble cast, but they put their all into their roles. And, I say small, but I think I expected more because I’m used to high school theatre where they try to give as many kids an opportunity as they can. (I did Little Shop not too long ago, and our ensemble was huge compared to traditional Broadway casting for it. I think we had like 13 or 14 ensemble members?) Anyways, they were great. I loved that they had the Soc girls dress up as guys for the rumble. I was humored by that, idk why. I loved the cute little dance the Soc girls had in the beginning. The boys did really good during the rumble scene and during all the jumping scenes.
Paul & Bob — Dan Berry & Kevin William Paul
They were greatttt! I don’t have a bunch to say, since the story doesn’t focus too much on these two. But their performances were amazing.
I did find it interesting that Paul was actually a character in the musical, more so than he was in both the book and movie. Homeboy was not involved for the contents of the book up until the rumble (same with the movie), but he was the main Soc in the musical. It’s not a bad thing. But, it did stick out to me that they essentially replaced Randy for Paul. And i know that Randy ended up “being one of the good ones” in the book/movie, so I can see why they might not have wanted to expand in his character for sake of the story and time. But, I actually wouldn’t have been upset if they changed Randy’s character to what Paul was. If they just and whim want revenge. Idk. Ig I just missed Randy lol
Cherry — Emma Pittman
BRO CHERRY WAS SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING IN THE MUSICAL
I actually really liked her. And it’s not that I didn’t like her character before, I just was never impressed with anything she did. She was just kinda there. She was just the girl Pony had a crush on, nothing more.
But here?? She’s so much more than that
Once again, this goes back to how real these characters are.
Her and Ponyboy made a connection at the drive-in. That was always clear, but I don’t think it was portrayed as well as it could’ve been in the movie. In the musical, they showwwedddd it!!! They showed how similar the two were. That, despite their differences, they became friends that night.
I loved that she even broke up with Bob.
Her line “If I don’t talk to you at school, don’t take it personal” has a completely different perspective here too. In the movie, I thought she said that because of Bob. Because she didn’t want to cause a problem and Bob either her or Ponyboy. In the musical, since now Bob doesn’t matter bc they broke up, it means something else. It could be see as an asshole thing to do bc “oh why shouldn’t they just defy dumb biases??” But it’s more than that. It was a way to protect him. If Ponyboy was seen talking to not just a Soc, but Cherry Valance, he’d be given so much shit. Probably jumped. Cherry would also get a lot of shit for it too.
And she seemed like she cared so much more about Ponyboy in the musical. How she checked in on Ponyboy, cared about him while he was gone and then being hunted down by Socs, and even hand-delivering Johnny’s things to him.
(Side note: when Cherry visited the Curtis home and said “Johnny’s mother never claim his things”, someone behind me gasped at that. Me too, girl. Me too 😢)
Steve & Two-Bit — Jordan Chin & Henry Julián Gendron
Sooooo I actually don’t have much to say about Steve and Two-Bit because the show didn’t have much to say with Steve and Two-Bit. They hardly had any lines and they didn’t do anything except dance and fight. It was honestly really disappointing. And maybe it was for the sake of the story, which I understand. This is Ponyboy’s story, and he didn’t always have much to say about either of them. But, they were still important characters. Two-Bit cared a lot for Ponyboy after he returned in the book and movie, same with Johnny as he went to go visit him and was even crying when he confronted Johnny’s dead-beat mother. Steve was an important in Sodapop’s life. You can’t tell me that Steve wasn’t there comforting Soda when Sandy cheated. You can’t tell me he wasn’t there when Ponyboy ran away. He definitely was, but they never showed it. These are the two characters out of the whole bunch that literally never get any good rep and it sucks, because they are such good characters.
I’m gonna give the musical the benefit of the doubt — like I mentioned before — and that it was for the sake of time, pacing, story progression, etc. But hopefully you get the point I’m trying to make ?
Ace — Milena J. Comeau
I was shocked when the curtains opened and I saw a Greaser girl. I thought she was gonna be ensemble, but no, she was a legitimate member of the Curtis gang. She also didn’t have a bunch of lines. She just danced and fought a lot. But, props to her actor, because she is a beautiful dancer. She was so smooth with her movements, she traveled the stage so fluidly. I wish that they did more with her character, only because I didn’t exactly know what her role was within the gang. I actually don’t even know why she was added in the first place. Once again, nothing much was probably done with her for the sake of the show progression, but still.
Sodapop — Jason Schmidt
Dude. He was hot.
His shirt of off for like the first 10 minutes of the show, and I was just 😍 the whole time.
Anyways, onto his actual character.
I really loved what they did with Sodapop. Creds to the actor, but also creds to the writers.
In the book, the boys didn’t curse, like at all (and granted, this was written from a 14yo perspective. let’s be so fr, cursing was still an uncomfortable thing at 13/14). They would curse, but they were hardly ever written out in dialogue, Ponyboy would just say “and then he started cursing a bunch”. Anyways, I actually really enjoyed the fact that they included language in the musical. It made it feel more like a bunch of poor, teenage boys in the 60s. Even the things they’d say. Like, during “Grease Got A Hold” Sodapop was talking about girls and idk if it’s in the recording but istg, watching it live he said something about pussy, and like… implying something with sex. I don’t exactly remember but yeah. That felt very real. :)
I thought it was interesting how Sandy wasn’t mentioned as cheating on him, but simply breaking up and moving away. But, they also literally did not mention what happened between the two in the movie. So whatever.
I liked how they showed more of how much of a mediator Sodapop is. Every time Darry and Pony would fight and Darry would get worked up, he’d make sure that Darry doesn’t get too close to Pony and tries to calm him down. Ngl, it definitely looked awkward watching him trying to calm Darry down, but that’s also because (in my opinion) it’s one of the harder things to do on stage and make it seem real. Irl, Soda would be talking Darry down, and interrupting. He can’t exactly do that on stage. But, that’s not really a critique, just something I noticed bc it stuck out to me. Maybe I’m inexperienced, but I can’t think of a much better way to do that.
His character was much deeper as well. It was clear just how emotionally intelligent he is, but that he isn’t exactly book smart. He was funny, and they did play into some of the “dumb guy” humor, but they also had him be actually funny. Just like a 16yo boy would be.
Darry — Victor Carrillo Tracey
Darry seemed a lot more stern in the musical ??? Not necessarily in a bad way though. ? I’ve heard that people agree with that statement, but more or less as in “oh Darry’s the worst. He told Ponyboy that it would be better if he — Darry — left him, and that Pony would be ‘one less thing to worry about.’” But I don’t think that that’s him being mean.
Darry is 20yo. He had a full-ride scholarship for football, and had to throw it all away to care for his brothers. It was selfless what he did. He could’ve just allowed them to be put into foster care, but he didn’t because those are his brothers. So, he started working two jobs. He put everything he had into those boys, and made a lot of sacrifices in his personal life. So, yeah, when Darry is at his breaking point in “Runs In The Family (Reprise)” he’s going to talk about how much better his life would be if he could get what he wanted. If he could spend his days with a lady by his side, if he could’ve gone on to be successful in life. Darry isn’t Ponyboy’s dad — if that we’re the case, yeah, then Darry actually would be the worst character. Darry’s just a kid. He was a teenager not that long ago.
Does that make sense?
And, I don’t want to sound like a shitty person when saying that, bc I definitely how that could come off. I say it because I relate to it. Now, my parents aren’t dead, and it’s not like I was given the worst childhood either — just shitty circumstances. I’m the eldest sibling, just like Darry, and at times it felt like I was given too much responsibility on caring for my younger siblings. At times, I did think “oh it would be easier if I could just move out. I wouldn’t have this burden.” I think when I was 12 I even contemplated running away LMAOO
So, I don’t hate him, but I do sympathize with him. Because I know that what he’s doing isn’t easy.
And it’s clear that he does care for Ponyboy, because in “Throwing In The Towel” he shares how he’s feeling to Sodapop. How worried he is for Pony, how horrible he feels about what he did, he’s blaming himself for everything, he thinks that it would be better if he just wasn’t around. Yk what I mean?
Anyways
I liked his character. Like I’ve been saying; the character feels more real. The emotions Darry was portraying, the words he was saying — that’s everything a 20yo, working two jobs to provide for his brothers, who’s given up everything, at his breaking point looks like. I think Tracey did a great job here. Props to him
Johnny — Josh Strobl
For a few minutes into the show, I did not think that I’d like his character. He was much more talkative than what I was used to that I was taken aback. But, I quickly changed my mind. His character was really good. And it goes back to what I was saying about the characters feeling more real, more like actual teenagers. Johnny wouldn’t have been shaking like a scared dog all the time, stuttering and stumbling over his words in fear, having a panic attack every three hours. Maybe some of that was true to some degree, but the degree that this particular fandom paints him in. Y’all think he’s completely helpless. He definitely wouldn’t have been. Yes, he would still have anxiety, yes, he’d still suffer with depression (bc, let’s be honest, he definitely would have).
Johnny camped outside his house to make sure his dad wouldn’t kill his mom. He was still able to joke around and actually talk to people.
Musical-Johnny felt more like what a real person would go through. Still suffering, but not helpless.
Anyways. I need to make a critique. Before I say this, I do understand that I watched the understudy cast. I am well aware — as someone who has done double-casted shows before — that the understudy cast doesn’t get the same stage time/rehearsal time that the main cast does. I also understand that the ensemble doesn’t always get to perform that often. They don’t have set performances like the main cast does, they just fill in when needed.
That being said, I think I have this critique because Strobl (if I had to guess) didn’t have enough time to properly learn his character. Giving the benefit of the doubt here, I didn’t like the way he delivered his lines. I noticed it specifically at the end, when Johnny’s on his death bed. Ralph Macchio did a great job acting like he was dying — you could hear it in his voice. Strobl sounded normal. And, yes, that might have been for the sake of articulation and actually being able to hear what he’s saying. But… there were still things that he could’ve done. He was monotone delivering his characters dying words. Johnny had burns all over him, he has inhaled so much smoke, he was paralyzed. But he sounds like normal?
Idk he just sounded like he didn’t care to be there.
Dallas — Joshua Boone
I think that this was the best iteration of Dallas across the board.
Once again, the musical made him feel like a real person. He wasn’t just Tulsa’s infamous bad-boy. He was also really close with Johnny and Ponyboy. He cared for them. His care for those boys (ESPECIALLY JOHNNY) was clearly shown in the musical. Dallas just seems pissed off the whole time in the movie. Like yeah, he cares, but he’s also got mad attitude.
I loved that they made it clear how he views Johnny, and Ponyboy even. Called them his brothers. Even told Darry that he’s more of a brother to Ponyboy than Darry ever will be, because Dallas actually spends time with him.
Trust me trust me trust me — i am going to talking about Dallas’ suicide scene, bc I have a lot to say about it. But, I have a section further down where I talk about specific scenes that I want to talk about. There will I discuss this.
Ponyboy — Trevor Wayne
OK WE MADE IT TO PONYBOYYY
I freaking loved Musical-Ponyboy. Once again, as I’ve said it a thousand times already; he seemed much more like a 14yo boy in the musical. Idk what made him so boy-ish specifically, but I’m pretty sure it was that damn shirt 😭
I loved the narration throughout the show.
He had such an angelic voice
He was so funny
ABHHH
I loved how well he portrayed Ponyboy absolutely grief-stricken. The depression he was facing. UGH I live for it. The spacing out, the not talking. The lashing out even. Beautiful.
Dude and Trevor was so sweet too. I got to meet him after the show.
(Y’all idk why I have like nothing to say about him. Ik I do, I just can’t think rn omllll. I’ll come up with something, i SWEAR!!! I’ll come back with an edit)
I Must Talk About These Scenes
Dally’s Suicide
Ok, this is gonna sound morbid… but I really liked it. It’s impact hit me much harder than it ever did in the book/movie — and that shit hurt the first time I read it.
I went into this musical completely blind. Didn’t want to know the plot, didn’t listen the cast album, scrolled past most of the promo videos online. So… I was definitely shocked as I watched Dallas jump in front of a train.
So, I did a little bit of digging, and apparently they changed how Dally died because they didn’t want to being politics into the show — police brutality. Which, I get it. But… let’s be honest. You’ve got a show that is very much about how hard the Greasers have it versus the Socs. How much the Socs can get away with, and what very little the Greasers get away with. They said that they were particular in their casting — Socs were all white, while the Greasers had a heavy POC cast. So, if you’re trying to make a point about he unfairness of life these boys faced, it wouldn’t have been the most shocking thing to have the police shoot Dallas. But, that being said, I also didn’t hate it. Like I mentioned earlier, Dallas’ grotesque ending hit me much harder.
To sit there and watched as Ponyboy narrates Dallas’ final moments, the thoughts that could’ve been going through his head, how Ponyboy pictured what his last actions or words were — I mean, my heart was racing, I couldn’t look away, and I was sitting there thinking, “there’s no way a train’s gonna be his death.” And then it was. It was loud. It was bright, then quickly blacked-out. When the lights come up again, Ponyboy retells what happened to Dallas as he got hit. Pieces of him flew everywhere. The train derailed.
It’s such an awful way to go. Horrifying. Scary. I think it’s one thing to get shot to death. It’s a whole other thing to stand there and watch as a train slowly comes after you.
The Rumble
HOLY FUCKING SHITT
The fight choreo was amazing, and then the synchronized punching and getting kicked down was just 😫
I loved the way that they had Johnny in that scene too. I saw him show up out of literally nowhere in his regular clothing, then fucking disappear so smoothly. AND THEN HE REAPPEARS AGAIN ON HIS HOSPITAL BED AND GOWN SO QUICKLY?!?? EHAT?!?! I need to know how they did that. How did they get that set together so quickly? How did they get Johnny to change so quickly? Did they have a seperate actor? Or is this dude literally the Flash?
Anyways, I was fucking gripping my seat handles and leaning over my seat freaking the fuck out over that beautiful transition.
UHM THE FUCKING RAIN?!?!
Ik I already talked about this — but it was SO COOL to see irl. I loved it so much. I mean, I truly cannot think of any other production doing something like that, unless I just am not as well-versed in the theatre world as I thought I was lol
It was such a cool scene
Church Burning
I mentioned the pyrotechnics of this scene earlier, but honestly the whole thing was impressive. The projections, the beams being used to throw the whole thing falling apart and just showing the overall chaos. It was awesome.
Darry & Dallas Fight
Yeahhhh ummmmm I didn’t like that :/
I wasn’t like “oh wow this is so out of character and strange, this doesn’t make any sense to be in here”, bc to some degree I could see how worried Darry would get onto Dallas for hiding where his younger brother is. But I don’t think Darry’s proud enough to get into a physical alteration with him over it. He definitely would think that he’s “too old to fight” and that he could be saving his energy focused on finding his brother and being able to work so he can provide for his family.
And maybe it’s because I haven’t read the book in forever, and the fact that the two never really interacted in either the book or movie, but I feel I’ve seen it somewhere that Dallas and Darry actually had a decent relationship. Or that Dallas looked up to Darry ??? Am I crazy? Did I just make that up ? or was that actually said lmaoooo
Anyways, found it a little strange. I’m gonna chalk up finding this interaction weird to the book being all in Ponyboy’s POV, therefore the writers had to really reach to get the audience to understand what the other characters were going through. If that makes sense??
I think if this did happen, they would start almost punching each other. Darry’s too responsible. And I think he cares too much for his friends — even if it is Dallas Winston.
Sodapop + Ponyboy Talking In Bed
bro this scene was so funny. I literally only wanted to mention this scene because I can’t stop thinking about:
SP: “What are you reading?”
PB: “It’s a book called Great Expectations.”
SP: “How many pages is it?”
PB: “544–“
SP: “FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOUR FUCKING PAGES?!?!?!… that would take me ten years to read.”
The Ending — The Curtis Brothers
I loved the connection that was finally formed at the end between the brothers.
I liked the acting here. Ponyboy hasn’t spoken hardly a word this whole time. Now, all of a sudden, he’s asking his brothers if they want to read his book. Darry and Soda, who’ve been waiting for him at the dinner table, slowly — in shock — turn to him. UGH I LOVED THAT!
And when Darry said “can I read it too?” and Pony just goes “really? You want to read it?” He expected Darry not to care. But he did.
When Pony physically lashed out at Darry, Sodapop breaks it up and he finally breaks. But… it felt very rushed. Sodapop had some very real feelings, and while everyone agreed to try to do better, I would’ve liked for them to focus on Soda a bit more. The movie did it beautifully. They took their time, we watched as Pony and Darry finally fully realize how much they’re tearing their family apart. How badly it’s impacting them — how it’s affecting their own brother. The musical definitely rushed it.
But other than that, it was so heartwarming
Final Thoughts
All in all, this show exceeded my already great expectations for it (FULL FUCKING PUN INTENDED, i think i’m so funny).
I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to watch this brilliant show.
Listening to these beautiful voices, I had goosebumps all throughout the songs, especially Great Expectations. Trevor Wayne has a spectacular voice, and those high notes in that song was soooo good
I want to watch this show again and again. I also would like the see the OG cast. But, I’m definitely not complaining with what I got.
Ok. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk :) if I remember anything else, I’ll edit this post.

Hii!! I found out about trading an hour ago and am a bit confused. Like, how do you even find the bootlegs if not on youtube? Also, why trade instead of posting publicly?
I have a YouTube page where I post slime tutorials and the like of shows I have watched or proshots I have downloaded. Why gatekeep? I'm literally just curious, I don't mean to offend.
So, the thing that I really, really want to emphasize, because I feel like it'll make everything make more sense, is that bootlegging is illegal. It is against the law, people can and do get arrested for it, and there have been many recorders (mostly filmers) in the past who have been caught and simply disappeared, taking with them any unreleased boots and all potential boots they could have filmed in the future.
And I say that because I REALLY want to emphasize that when people, especially filmers, say, "Hey, can you not post these on YouTube or anywhere else publicly?" it's NOT because they are trying to "gatekeep". Many of them are making their bootlegs as accessible as possible by making it available for purchase and/or trade down the line. They are doing it for their own safety. They are risking legal repercussions getting these bootlegs to you and are asking you not to get them into trouble by blatantly posting their stuff on the most accessible video-sharing site out there. THEY ARE TRYING NOT TO GET FINED, ARRESTED, OR WORSE.
Okay, got all that? Great! Now I can answer your questions.
First - many traders, myself included, have trading sites where we post everything we have available to trade. That is a great place to find bootlegs, and even better, people who have those bootlegs and might be willing to trade or (if you're polite) gift them to you! Here's mine. How do you find these sites? Honestly, a lot of times I just stumble on them by Googling something like "[name of show] bootleg trade". What I also personally do is start bookmarking sites of traders that have large collections of shows I'm interested in (like Phantom) or the sites of people who record bootlegs, so that I can easily check up on them every week or so.
There are also many areas where traders congregate! Musical Exchange on LiveJournal is one of the easiest to find. There was a Yahoo board back in the day that has not turned into a Groups io thing. There's Encora Reprise (I don't use it and I feel like it keeps going down but some swear by it). There are also several Discord servers devoted to trading or set up by filmers. Those are also great places to find other traders and newly released boots.
Second, I partially answered your question about posting publicly with the safety issue, but the other answer is, simply, that trading is decentralized because it's illegal. I don't think there's any one person who has every bootleg ever recorded, it's all spread out amongst us, and it's going to be extremely difficult to get everyone to pool it all together because, well, this is also a hobby, not a job, and we just don't have time for that. And even if we did, there probably is no person with enough space and money and time to upload every bootleg in the world and maintain it, because they will not get enough benefit out of it because musicals are a relatively niche interest.
Here's another way of thinking about it. I'm at the point of trading almost exclusively Phantom. I don't have every bootleg in the world, but my collection of Phantom boots alone is 2.7 TB. That is Phantom alone, I haven't even considered every other musical in the world and all their bootlegs. If you want me to have all these available publicly, I would basically need to get my own server. If I want my own server, I'm probably going to pay money. Hundreds of dollars of money. And I will have to maintain this, which will also cost money, with possibly the only way I get money back being to use, I don't know, ads or making users pay money for accounts, and unless I finagle things legally I could also be responsible if the site gets found and taken down, and you want me to do this, constantly, for bootlegs that 99% of people won't download? (You really think some people are raring to get the blurry 1992 video of Jun Sawaki, for example?) Yeah, that looks like a lot of work and trouble for me to do something that probably won't save others a lot of trouble either.
Anyway, I know you don't mean to be rude and I hope the above didn't come off as aggressive, it's just that, well, I've seen these arguments time and again and it never really seems to cross people's minds that, at the end of the day, this is a hobby that is technically illegal, that just about all the rules and limitations around are done for the safety of the bootlegger and not because they enjoy waving the boot out of your reach, and that trading is done because it's the safest, most anonymous way of, well, getting theatre bootlegs, that people have come up with. At any rate, I hope that answers your questions!

Cassette Beasts?
Cassette Beasts is a creature-collecting game by Bytten Studio! Record monsters on tapes, become a Ranger, and find the way off of New Wirral in this amazing adventure!
Spoilers below the cut!!
So I had a plan to write this review before I even finished the game. It was just that good. But! I managed to hold off until I at least finished the main game. Next goal: 100% and DLC! And also buying the OST when I have the chance.
Now, I'm not putting this off until the middle of the review: every musical track in this game is a certified banger. I absolutely loved the music of the game. As one person put it (while I was looking for the OST), I just didn't get tired of the music. And that's a pretty big win for a game where you have so, so many encounters and only a handful of tracks to play.
youtube
youtube
The way they implement the music is also impressive because it's narratively important. The lyrics work their way in when a fusion happens and during big story battles. The town theme's music plays when you're indoors. Plus the lyrics just feel right with its tones and atmosphere. Also the difference between the few main battle themes is just enough for one to feel more tense/exciting than the others. Just an overall great thing they have going on with the audio.
Okay with that out of the way!
Cassette Beasts is a solid game, actually pretty high tier.
Mechanically, I've seen people compare it to Pokemon. I feel like it's like a mix of Pokemon and Persona. You can record the monsters, remaster (evolve) them at five stars, with some having having special evolution requirements. Monsters can show up as bootlegs, where they're a type other than its base type, which is just like shiny hunting but more (cause there's like 12 types). And I've already killed a plastic bootleg by accident...
The moves (stickers) are mix and match, mostly according to typing. I'm pretty into it cause I love giving my party members all sorts of type coverage. I haven't particularly gone into finding weird strategies yet other than AP Refund, but I can see some cool ones thanks to needing to battle all 12 Ranger Captains.
And then you can fuse! Which I thought was interesting, and it adds an ace to go to when you're in a pinch. But you fusing means that wild monsters (and other rangers) can fuse too. Those provide some fun challenges and opportunities to find bootlegs, plus progression in post-game.
Did I mention that this game is also like a Metroidvania? Capturing certain monsters gives up to 6 overworld movement abilities and I think that's pretty neat. All of them have their uses and none of them are niche, which is a win.
The story was pretty interesting! Dropping in onto a mysterious island and trying to find a way back home is nice and simple and all the detail added around it make it engaging. The Archangels are wildly uncomfortable which I didn't expect and I loved it. Despite loving it, it still did come out of nowhere but greatly forgiven because it was right at the start (and not some random turn in the middle).
The pacing was a bit off for me though because I got like 5 out of 8 song pieces before I even defeated 4 captains or even met all the partner characters. I also don't know how relationship progress works other than fight things and rest. Thinking about it now, there's probably a reason why there a speedrun timer in that you don't have to play through all the content (8/9 archangels, no captains?), I guess.
I liked the references to all sorts of topics throughout the story and I think it's pretty interesting for the characters to be from different timelines. It makes it easy to explain weird inconsistencies.
Funny thing I did by accident for end game's story: I switched out Meredith's Regensea with an Aeroboros cause I wanted her starter in my party. And boy did that choice bite back later lol.
Graphics are also solid. The 3D world with 2D sprites reminds me of Octopath Traveller. I appreciate the non-pixel portrait art for the characters, but I would've liked it either way. The designs of the monsters and the characters are all great! Honestly, I should take some notes from them since even if there's 15+ characters, they still all have very specific designs and personalities to match.
The detail in the world is great too, like the light reflecting off the puddle or the fog that rolls in and the rain. So like weather in general.
Also, as a note just for me, I liked the fonts and font effects that they used. Very cool.
Cassette Beasts is a quality creature-collecting game! If you need another Pokemon/Digimon/Persona, here's a game for you. Or if you just want a cool turn-based RPG with cool music, that's cool too.
As always,
Enjoy gaming!

mordred through time (movies, tv shows, opera and musicals)
Part 3: From 2002 to 2010
Other Parts: Part 1: From 1949 to 1981 -> here Part 2: From 1982 to 2002 -> here Part 4: From 2014 to 2017 Part 5: From 2018 to 2023
Complete list of part 2 media with extra information and some of my thoughs regarding the evolution of Mordred’s role is under cut.
In part 2 I talked a bit about how in movie adaptations (since Excalibur 1981) Morgause disappears and Morgana takes her role as Mordred's mother. Here I wanted to note how we actually have a very big gap of Mordred movies in the 2000s. Most of the media in this video are recordings of musicals or opera or tv shows.
Another small point is that we have here the second instance of Mordred in a romantic relationship (the first instance being Mordred and his lady in "Sword of Lancelot") in Merlin BBC, where his love for Kara is a central part of his character development. The third and only other instance will be in a webseries (in part 4!).
2002 Merlin the Return: Craig Sheffer plays an over the top extremely evil Mordred in this tv movie. He is still Morgana's son, and he is the main antagonist (and a wizard). The movie is - an experience. It mainly focus on modern day characters meeting time travelling Arthur and Merlin.
2003 Gary Hughes' album "Once and future king": The song is "The Hard Way", one of the two songs sung by Mordred (the other being "Demon Down"). This album (divided in two parts) has a total of 20 songs sung by different artists each interpreting an arthurian character. It is an interesting narrative musical that follows the rise and fall of Arthur. We do not know if Mordred is Arthur's son.
2003 recording of Albeniz's "Merlin" opera: This is a 1902 opera that is rarely performed nowadays. This recording is the only available dvd of it, and Mordred (a baritone) is played by Àngel Òdena. Mordred is the main antagonist alongside his mother Morgana.
2003 Camelot, Papermill Playhouse: I was lucky enough to have some bootlegs videos of Camelot performances so I decided to put them as well. It is pretty interesting to see how Mordred's "The Seven Deadly Virtues" and "Fie on Goodness!" gets campier, more comedici and sillier! Here Mordred is played by Barrett Foa.
2005 Camelot, Bad Hersfeld (Germany): Another recording of the Broadway musical, here fully translated in German! This is the website of the open air event. Unfortunately I could not find the name of the actor.
2008 Camelot (Live from Lincoln Center): Live from Lincoln Center used to be a tv series dedicated to filming and sharing musicals and performances. This is thus another Camelot musical adaptation. Bobby Steggert (who is now a therapist!!) played an over the top, super-campy, queer coded Mordred! This is probably the first time we have a Mordred that is so obviously queer coded in his presentation.
2008 Merlin (BBC): This 5 seasons tv show was extremely popular, so much it led to the rise of a bunch of arthurian tv movies that were probably trying to ride "Merlin"'s popularity. The show is episodic-like, slightly comedic, and focuses on Merlin and Arthur. Mordred appears as a child (not related to Arthur or Morgana) at the end of Season 1 and he was portrayed by Asa Butterfield (not in video). Then he returned as an adult in Season 5, potrayed by Alexander Vlahos. This is another instance of a sympathetic Mordred. While he ends up being a villain and finding an alliance with Morgana, the show makes a point to explain his reasons. At this point this is the second time we see a sympathetic (but still villanous) Mordred on tv. Interestingly this is also the second time we see a Mordred who is in a happy romantic relationship (there are only three instances, it seems, in all media!), as Mordred is in love with a woman named Kara.
2009 Merlin and the Book of Beasts: This is a fantasy tv movie that focus on Merlin helping Arthur's daughter reclaim Camelot. It features a baffling performance from Merlin's actor (not sure what the director or the actor himself was thinking), and a villain called Arkadian who is supposed to be Mordred and Arthur's son. Here we go back to the role of extremely evil Mordred, and Arkadian also kidnaps his half-sister to marry her and continue the Pendragon dynasty. Mordred (Arkadian) is played by Jim Thorburn.
2010 Avalon High: This is a tv Disney channel movie adaptation of Meg Cabot's novel by the same title. The movie butchers the main story of the novel and tries to surprise its viewers by changing the character's arthurian selves. The protagonist Allie is now King Arthur's reincarnation (instead of the Lady of the Lake), and William (her love interest) is... unknown character instead of being King Arthur. The novel has William's half brother as Mordred, but the movie changes that and now it is the teacher (Mr. Moore) who is revealed to be Mordred, while Marco is just a misdirection. Mr. Moore is played by Steve Valentine.
2010 Merlin and Arthur the Lion King: Continuing our journey into sympathetic Mordreds, we have another one here! This movie is one in a series of tv movies/dvd movies by variation of "Arthur" and "Merlin" in the title. My personal theory is that the hope is that people would find the movie by googling for more popular media (ex. "Merlin 2008 BBC", "King Arthur 2004"). In this animated kids movie, Mordred is a kitten and one of Arthur's friends. He first works with Morgana to stop Arthur from becoming king, but then ends up deciding he does not want to betray his friend anymore. This might be one of the few iterations of a completely redeemed Mordred in movies/tv!
Extra note: 2003 is also the year Heather Dale (singer) released her album "May Queen" which has one song that in my opinion seemed to be sung by Mordred or to Mordred: "Crashing Down". Because it is not certain but only my interpretation I did not add it.
In the same album we also have "War Between Brothers" which reference to Mordred (sung by an external narrator). A previous album ("The trials of Lancelot" in 2000) also contains the famous song "Mordred's Lullaby" which is sung by Morgana to Mordred.

Please feel free to pass on by this one I'm using my blog as a diary again because my brain is overloaded and overwhelmed lol and maybe someone else feels like this too and can see they aren't alone :)
Remember when we had to wait for our favourite magazine to come out to hear about our favourite band's upcoming movements and songs and gigs etc?
Remember when we had to wait up until 11.30pm watching the music video channels just to see the music video of our favourite song?
Remember when an album release was a HUGE deal and there was MONTHS of build up and hype and then when it finally got released we had to wait for it to get delivered so we could listen to the CD?
Remember when we were able to rock up to gigs with our disposable cameras, take some shitty pictures we had no clue how they looked and then we would have the best time of our lives and have MEMORIES WE WOULD HAVE TO REMEMBER?
Remember when our favourite artists would post brief updates to their MySpace page and we would all be so grateful for that tiny bit of communication and not getting upset because they weren't posting every day?
Remember when you were allowed to find out news about your favourite band in your own time and nobody would think of you as 'out of touch' if you didn't immediately know the latest stuff?
Remember when you could enjoy your favourite band or actor or artist without people constantly demanding more and more and more from them?
Remember when your favourite celebrity was allowed to be human and make mistakes and be imperfect and not necessarily hold the same life standards as you but were still loved and treated like a human being without being torn apart one second for one thing then praised by the same people for another thing three days later?
Remember when we went to gigs and if we didn't go we would sit with those that did and listen to their amazing experience instead of seeing it through a live stream and taking away the necessity for such human interaction?
Remember when YouTube didn't have ads? When you used to spend time talking on a landline phone, stuck in one spot because of the cord? When you'd sit in a park with friends until 2am just talking and laughing? When the news was only on the TV, where there was only 5 channels, the radio was where you would bootleg your music from by recording them onto tapes, and when you got home and wanted to relax and get away from people and the world and everything going on around you, you just... Could?
Remember... the simpler times?
I guess my whole point is that, apart from feeling overwhelmed with the fast paced world right now, with the speed of the internet and social media has made the world a reactionary place and I guess I just want to remind the world that it's okay to go at your own pace and enjoy what you enjoy and love what you love but also remember that the people who we love are just that - people. With feelings and emotions and thoughts and it's okay. We're all human beings and the dance with life will become much easier if we learn to soften and lean into it a little. We can be what we once were.
Stay beautiful friends 💚🖤💜

Beyond Led Zeppelin - interview to JPJ
(by Guitar.com - Jan. 1, 2010 - x)
Zooma is very experimental and takes your musicianship to a different level. How did you develop the chops to do something so free-flowing? Were you listening to lots of jazz?
No, it’s always been there. I’ve always listened to lots of jazz. At the time when Zeppelin started, I was always listening to jazz and rhythm and blues and classical music. The only rock I listened to was Jimi Hendrix. So, I actually came to rock late. I listen to everything constantly — everything from rhythm and blues, drum and bass techno, Latin music, salsa, meringue, and some rock n roll. Bass-wise I keep listening.
Does that allow you to constantly grow as a player?
In composition and playing, everything at a basic level is about questions and answers. You have musical questions and you have to get the answers, which is basically what composition is about. How does the piece start and then what happens? You’ll get a musical idea, then you have to realize it. And in the realization it’s just about those questions and answers. How does it finish? What will make it interesting after we’ve done one thing for a while? All music has the same questions and answers. It doesn’t matter what kind of music it is, whether its pigmy music or Mongolian stuff. It’s still, how do you make a musical idea, how do you make a tension release? And everything you listen to can come in use as reference material for your own questions, for your own music. Listen to as much as you can because there’s something absolutely everywhere to be found.
A lot of people listen to blues, jazz, country, world music, whatever, but they can’t combine the different techniques.
Most people gravitate towards music they like. If youre a blues player, you only play the blues. So listen to everything else and then play the blues. You’ll find that you start playing the blues in a different way.
How do you feel about what your former bandmates have done with their respective careers? Page and Plant did Zeppelin songs together for a while, and now Page is doing Zep stuff with the Black Crowes. Do you think maybe they’re not expanding their vocabulary and reaching out the way you have?
No, they’re not reaching out the way I have, because I’m me and they’re them. I haven’t heard Page and the Black Crowes. He could be playing a whole load of blues for all I know. I heard Page and Plant’s 'Walking into Clarksdale', and was disappointed that there wasn’t more Page on it. I like to hear lots of Page. But they’re doing what they’re doing. They ain’t bothering me.
Do you keep in touch with them?
Sure. There’s lots of Zeppelin things we attend to. We attend releases.
Atlantic released 'The Best of Led Zeppelin, Volume 2' earlier. Did that concern you?
Well of course it concerned me. I wasn’t very happy about that, but it was a democratic process, just two to one and I was the one. But the BBC Sessions I was very happy with. To me that was very valuable. It was great to hear the band in a well recorded situation, because normally when I heard the live stuff I was either standing right next to Page or it’s a horrible bootleg. So, to be able to sit back and not do anything and be able to hear all that he’s playing, that was a treat for me.
Why didn’t you want the 'Best of Vol. 2' to be released?
It’s been done before. I couldn’t see why, you know? I mean, the first remaster, the box set, was good because Atlantic went through the original Zeppelin release campaign kind of quick and didn’t really spend too much time with it. In fact, when we were collecting stuff for the box set, we found that some of the masters they used were actually second and third generation, and they put them on CD. They sounded really dull. They didn’t seem to have any life. So, the chance to remaster them, to bring them to life again was valid. But I couldn’t really see the point of the Greatest Hits records that came out last year. We were always against Greatest Hits album traditionally from the word go. It may have been a hang back to the fact that in the days when we started, you had singles bands, you had pop bands, and then you had albums bands. They were completely different things. So, I just didn’t see the point and I said so. But as I said, it was democratic and they thought differently.
How and why did you put 'Zooma' together?
Basically, I wanted to play live again. And of course, I needed something to play. I tend to need motivation to do a project. I’m not somebody who would just write things for no reason at all. I’ll work on a project and I’ll commit myself to it. But if I’m not actually working on it, then I’m just as happy to sit down and play instruments and not write anything. So, I need motivation but I didn’t want to join a band. If you’ve been in the best band in the world, what do you do? I knew that if I did an album, I’d be obligated to promote it. So, I knew I couldn’t just go, "Oh well, I’ve done the album. That’s it." I knew that it would force me on the road, which was what I wanted to do originally. So, I trapped myself into it. But it was really a positive experience.
So, what possessed you to say, "Man, it’s time to get out there live again"?
It’s funny, Diamanda Galas [who I recorded the album 'Sporting Life' with in 1994] said to me that she’d done collaborations with composers and various people. And she just said, "I realized one day that if I’m going to put this much effort into my music then I think it should be my own." And I took those words to heart. I figured I’d worked on everybody else’s records since 1963. It’s about time. And I’m fortunate to be in the position I’m in. I had my own studio. I don’t have to work to eat. Maybe it’s a mid-life crisis, who knows?
So, playing with Diamanda was what inspired it?
Yeah, I think so. And writing material for Diamanda. She got me playing steel guitar, so I could have a voice on stage. Cause I always used to play steel guitar in hotels and she saw it in the studio and had never heard one before. So I started playing, and she immediately wrote a song. And we put it on the album. People were like, "Wow, this is new, different."
How did that collaboration come together? How did you know her? Did you know her from years back?
I knew her from her work. I had one record by her at that time, 'Wild Women with Steak Knives', wonderfully titled. And the voice was just like, Whoa! A mutual friend said she’d be interested in doing a rock record and he thought that I’d work well together with her. I like the idea because I wasn’t into normal songs. She called them homicidal love songs. It was a case not so much of, "My baby’s left me, I’m going to throw myself out the window." It was, "My baby’s left me, I’m going to throw him out the window." I found her whole approach quite refreshing. And we hit it off immediately. We’ve both done lounge gigs, believe it or not, in our time. We used to do The Lady is a Tramp in soundcheck, which worried a few people. Nobody knew what to make of that. And we also found that we knew the entire Motown songbook. And we’d sit sown and play Stop In The Name Of Love. We had respect for each other as musicians.
Why was it a one time thing?
Well, she has a serious career. She follows what seems to be good at the time. And it was, because it led me to this.

if you were to ask me how i feel about a commercial jingle for regina comet, i might say its pretty good or something.
but if you asked me on a deeper level,
i'd tell you how much i absolutely love this musical. id tell you how im its biggest fan possibly ever, and i curse myself every day for not being able to see it. id tell you about my signed playbill of it being one of my most prized possessions and i used to sleep with it by my side. id tell you how the bootleg is one of my favorite things ever, and how many times ive listened to it, making timestamps for each song and even uploading a full version of it for myself to youtube. id tell you how its my third favorite musical of all time. id tell you how i didnt even know ben fankhauser until i found out about this musical and i dont think i could love any of his roles more than man 2. id tell you how i wrote my own self sustaining fanfiction for it. id tell you how i made up names for them. id tell you about my dozens of fanart for it, and how other man used to be muscle memory to draw, so whenever id go to draw something hed be the first thing to warmup. id tell you how i know just about every lyric of every song. id tell you how when i do home-alone theater karaoke, this musical is the first one i go to everytime. id tell you how literally any role in this would be my dream. id tell you how underrated its representation is, showing the exploitation of women in the media, and has such a good message. id tell you about how during silent reading time in class, id reread the script for this show over and over while everyone else pulled out icebreaker and stuff. id tell you how i have consumed every advertisement for this show ever. id tell you how i would go through every review article, and if they said anything even remotely bad about it, id find a way to counter it. id tell you how i used to go through every 2 pixel picture and video of the set (which is amazing by the way. im obsessed with it) and made a list of every single paper i could make out, how they asked the crew to write down musicals on sticky notes for it, and how i analyzed each of their sides of the apartment. id tell you how id do anything to see the original cast of this in person. id tell you about other mans bpd coding. id tell you about how i started to copy the mannerisms of these characters and actors and put myself in physical distress sometimes because it made me feel like them a little bit gulp thats not like the kind of physical distress youre probably thinking of btw i meant id like run laps of long distances because hearing myself breathe made me think of other man. id tell you how i dont think anyone could ever be more these characters than these actors. id tell you how i would just listen to the bass/piano/drums (all isolated) of the songs and learn the piano by ear. id tell you about the freaking haarrrmoonieeess in it. id tell you how cute and . cool the lighting is. id tell you how i much of the choreography i had(/have) memorized. id tell you how many times ive quoted this show (women in science. and, for a little bit of backstage stuff, nothing i will be woorrking.) id tell you how ive gone through all of their social media posts and every post theyre tagged in as well. id tell you about how i dedicated an account to it until i got locked out lmao?? id tell you how i may or may not have genuinely cried over this musical so many times. id tell you how i made floor plans for the flourishing pig (the hottest vegan nightspot in the meatpacking district) ((i got rid of them tho my bad lmaooo)). id tell you how even perfume just reminds me of this show now. id tell you how i have forced everyone i know at gunpoint to hear this musical at least once. id tell you about the complexity of man 2 and other mans relationship and nothing wouldve happened if they had just kissed sighh (/j). i would tell you about this show. id tell you about this. id tell you about. id tell you. id tell. id. i. .
...but ill probably just say "yeah its kinda cool"

huge thank you to the lovely zey @thasorns for thinking of me. i love you too (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
1. why did you choose your url?
no one remembers her but claire dearing from jurassic world will always hold a special place in my heart.
2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them.
poomphuripan - the bl sideblog that i started just because my main got deactivated for a bit but i guess for now, it's mostly uppoom and msi-focused. in december, it'll probably be torjj and spare me your mercy-focused. i think i'll probably just be using these for the ql series i have a crazy hyperfixation about.
huiyanan - a pentagon yanan/hui focus sideblog
coryjeacoma - my musical theatre sideblog for random audio bootlegs and sometimes musical gifs
ryuvachirawich - my unused (mostly lakorn) gifs blog for extra gifs i make but that doesn't make it into any main or sideblogs. at first i was trying to keep this sideblog lowkey but then i needed to tag the gifs w my gif tag anyway so i could search for them so disclosing is fine 🤣
3. how long have you been on tumblr?
2014... what do you mean it's been a decade since i started using tumblr.... time isn't real
4. do you have a queue tag?
i tried but i've given up on queue-ing in general so i don't. my tumblr is constantly in two modes: super active or going months without a single post lmaoooo.
5. why did you start your blog in the first place?
i wanted to be where all the gifmakers are but i have too much interests so this shall remains a multi-fandom blog or more like a "whatever media claire is consuming atm" blog
6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?
dirk gently is the single most perfect holistic detective in existence. sometimes i'm too attached to my url and my icon, i don't think i can ever change them. headers i can but i haven't changed my url/icon for 3-4 years i think.
7. why did you choose your header?
i feel you linger in the air is THAT series for me. dethroned almost every other thai series on my all time fave list (i say almost because bad genius series is still holding its crown well)
8. what’s your post with the most notes?
i just checked and apparently it's my first and only merlin gifset 😅
9. how many mutuals do you have?
i have no idea but i love all my mutuals (づ ̄3 ̄)づ╭❤️~
10. how many followers do you have?
i hit 1k recently. crazy to me because i've left this tumblr empty for months before starting being active again last october???
11. how many people do you follow?
4000+ but that's only because i'm too lazy to unfollow people. so yea i rarely see things on my dash. i just end up scrolling through my fave gifmakers tags to find things they make.
12. have you ever made a shitpost?
i don't think so????? i mean the closest is probably me saying super random things on this tag.
13. how often do you use tumblr each day?
it used to be once a week... but these days it's really a daily routine lmao. although i'm pretty sure i'll leave my tumblr dusting once my stand-in ends... who knows... we'll see...
14. did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?
how can i? i'm so non-confrontational, i reblog things in private to argue with op 😭 lmao (arguments that op will never see lmao, i'm saving them and me both the trouble really). just enfp things.
15. how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts
huh why do i never get them on my dash (⊙x⊙;)
16. do you like tag games?
sometimes i forget but i love being tagged in them because i get to know about all the great mutuals i have on here, especially music tags because i always get incredible new music recommendations
17. do you like ask games?
apparently i had my asks closed without knowing for quite some time so i haven't received asks for so long. maybe one day i'll do them but i have bad records of answering asks so ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
18. which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
i'm not sure if being THE certified way apologist/way gifmaker qualifies her as tumblr famous but maybe sasa @zhouxiangs is the most famous mutual i have
19. do you have a crush on a mutual?
let's call this mutuals whose editing skills i wanna steal (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
lana @sherrymagic whenever you see me reblogging lana's joe sets every week, you'll see me gushing about the consistency in her coloring and that's because that's something i'm obsessed with, especially considering my stand-in's grim/dark cinematographic coloring. also i don't know how lana chooses the perfect lines from each eps to do her recap sets because most of the times i can't even choose between which scenes to gif.
eva @alienwlw eva makes the most beautiful lyrics set and is willing to do my most niche requests and i'm always looking forward to seeing her gifs because it's always so warm and grainy and crisp and i'm just like wahhhh *heart eyes emoji* every time
20. tags?
no pressure tagging anyone today ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪

Hey Clashblr, check these out
Since there's a few of you around now that are still getting into some of the deeper cuts, I thought I'd put together a post highlighting some of the oft-forgotten obscure material for you to check out. Gonna stick it under a cut, 'cause there's a fair bit and Youtube links take up a lot of space on the dash.
Fasten your seatbelts, hold onto your hats, let's go yeah?
youtube
First up we have The Escapades of Futura 2000, lyrics by the man himself with music written & played by the Clash. Futura was the rapper on Overpowered By Funk, and also a graffiti artist who accompanied the band on the Combat Rock tour across the US painting stage backdrops live through the gigs. This particular upload is the 12" mix, which has a good extra minute over the version released last year on The People's Hall.
youtube
Here we've got the complete double-sided 12" 19-minute experience of This Is Radio Clash - the track we all know and love to open, then the more commonly remembered B-side Radio Clash (almost identical, not quite the same), then things get real funky with Outside Broadcast, and Radio Five ties it all together. Those last two have never seen a reissue on any compilation whatsoever, probably the most obscure tracks in their entire official discography.
youtube
This one's Robber Dub, a remix of Bankrobber from Mikey Dread (not to be confused with Rockers Galore, his other remix that actually features him on vocals). Featured on Super Black Market Clash but interestingly not in the "complete" Sound System box set, an omission that's always perplexed me.
Speaking of, I'd thoroughly recommend checking out both of the mentioned collections if you're not familiar, between Super Black Market & Sound System you've got every officially-released song other than those two Radio Clash extras - so, with that in mind, let's dive into the real offcuts that never even made it onto a record.
How's about seven and a half minutes of Topper playing around with a drumkit & piano to start us off? Some people still don't believe this is even The Clash, that someone scrounged up some random sounds and stuck it on a bootleg, but that's bollocks because I'm pretty sure bits of it ended up in Hell W10, their endearingly crap short film from '81 (watch it here, it's a 50-minute London crime drama). What people are wrong about is that it was ever going to be on Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg, because this is the real tracklist; relatedly, there's alternate mixes of most of those tracks around if you care to look for them, they're not hard to find, except for the high-quality acetate rip that surfaced two years ago that has been scrubbed off the face of the fucking internet, from the 20 minutes I just spent searching it seems even Internet Archive wasn't able to withstand the might of CBS. Anyway...
youtube
youtube
OK, so technically this one has made it to a record, but that record was the Vanilla Tapes bonus disc of the 2004 reissue of London Calling, it never actually got beyond demo stage. Honestly I doubt they ever really expected or intended it to, sounds to me like the band having fun in the studio, but fun it is. There's actually a few demo-only Vanilla Tapes tracks I could stick here, but this is long as fuck already so instead I will simply give you the lot to peruse at your leisure.
Sticking with demos that eventually got an obscure release, this one is from the Give 'Em Enough Rope sessions but wasn't heard until the On Broadway compilation in '91. It's a solid number of course, they hardly put a foot wrong, but it's nothing groundbreaking.
youtube
This is from that same compilation, from the same sessions, it's a cover of the classic soul tune and I like it. Understated, gentle but with that pained passion in the vocals Mick carries so well, and that nice subtle bass is a sweet touch.
youtube
Our last couple of tracks are live numbers, and this one's a special one-off performance with the great Beat poet Allen Ginsberg, from the 10th June date of their infamous Bond's residency. He wrote it specifically to perform with the band, six minutes of cantankerous complaining about just about any ideology you care to name while the band (and their sound man, gotta credit those perfectly-timed dub echoes) give a strident backing. Topper was on fucking fire for those gigs, just listen to that kick drum.
youtube
And finally let's close out where they began, way back in '76 with Keith Levene. This one's probably my favourite of their earliest offcuts, but personally I prefer an even earlier version of it that Youtube doesn't seem to have, from their third ever gig (and first known recording) at the classic Screen on the Green punk showcase. Five of the thirteen tracks on that setlist never made it to the studio, plus it includes the original lyrics to I'm So Bored With You, and it's all here.

I find myself thinking (dangerous, I know) how fascinating it is that we, as phans, each go on a journey in our relationship with Erik and his deformity.
I watched the movie before I had any other exposure to the rest of the franchise. Even though I'm a weirdo and decided that the best way to view this movie for the very first time was to hop back and forth between the movie and a bootleg of a 1986 Michael Crawford performance that was so degraded it was almost black-and-white. Because it was so degraded I didn't really have a good sense of the extent of the disfigurement in the play. So I got very familiar with Gerik's melted-candle-meets-port-wine-birthmark deformity, which looked very horrible in the Unmasking but lost the effect in the final lair because the stage lighting was doing most of the work.
When I saw pictures of the deformity in the musical, I was struck. I actually found it quite shocking. I thought "oh, that's bad". I had a hard time looking at it.
Now after six months of obsession I've grown used to it. We, as phans who spend so much time looking at thinking about, writing about, drawing Erik, know what it's like to become accustomed to his face. It's so easy to write Christine not only getting used to, but even coming to find beauty in his face which he, with good reason, thought would only ever be a source of fear and disgust. Its easy for us to write Christine, not looking past but looking at Erik's disfigurement and coming to love it because that's a journey we all go on ourselves.

Veronica and Cady for the character thingy plss
DID I NEVER POST THIS HOLY SHIT OOPS
eeep i just found this and don’t remember when i got it i’m sorry friend!! i’m assuming this is for the list and not the bingo but if i’m wrong i’ll do it again lol
ok i have to do cady first bc it won’t let me type beneath veronica’s picture so woo i love it here soooo much /s
CADY
favorite thing about them
she has so much depth! i love how adorable she is and how bubbly and high energy and yet soft spoken and sweet she is but she also has a dark and vindictive streak in her that’s really fun to play with. also she’s like really fun to torture sometimes lol whoops
least favorite thing about them
again i hate how many people she uses for her own gain and how power hungry she gets
favorite line
“shuck! i started to say shoot and i almost said fu-” for funnies and uhhh
“fearless is the one thing i can be now, no friends, nothing to lose” and whatnot for like more emotional. also all of i see stars i still get misty every time i listen to it
brOTP
damiaaaaan. they wear matching outfits whenever they can, damian comes over to cadnis’ house for movie nights twice a week at least, they watch bootlegs together without janis bc she doesn’t like them. just. mwah. i could go off but i’ll hold back lol
OTP
TAKE A WILD GUESS DUDE
nOTP
aaron. they only worked bc of erikyle. if i could drop kick every other aaron into the road i would.
random headcanon
she can talk backwards!
unpopular opinion
there’s a point where she is fully aware of what she’s doing and how wrong it is and she actively chooses to continue for a hot second until the burn book being released and whatnot snaps her out of it that people do not talk about enough. i know i’m guilty of it too but she is not all innocent and naive and coerced into this shit like she’s a full teenager she knows damn well what she’s doing
song i associate with them
a change in me from beauty and the beast which hath inspired many a fic in my early days. at the plaza from the violet hour loosely inspired i’ll be there for christmas. like very loosely. uhhh and i think the like vibes of true love from frozen (or basically anything anna sings lol) even if its not necessarily the same meaning
favorite picture of them
i picked two for both her and veronica bc iiiim greedy lol
alright well one of cady’s is with ronnie for some fuckass reason thanks tumblr!!! i tried i swear
VERONICA
favorite thing about them
honestly this isn’t as much to do with her as a character as it is to do with the people who’ve played her but she has done so much for my self esteem in a really roundabout way. as someone with dark brown eyes and frizzy kinda untamable brown hair reading fic about her helped me appreciate more things about myself.
if you struggle with self image i really cannot recommend highly enough finding a character who looks and acts like you and reading stories where someone is absolutely, irrevocably in love with them. whether that’s platonically or romantically. i know it’s weird but being able to look in the mirror or at some aspect of my personality that i don’t like and say “that’s still lovable” is WONDERFUL.
least favorite thing about them
i despise the way she treats martha and also baby girl is kind of a doormat!! she’s one of those shitty wicker doormats that scratches the hell outta your feet but like dang!!
favorite line
not a line but her face in the musical when jd and kurt and ram start fighting
but also the way barrett delivers the “oH MY GOD!” over chandler’s corpse is immaculate
and i had one of her like super iconic ones everyone knows in my head but now i can’t remember it siiiigh
brOTP
marthaaaaa buddies since babies. also like. still alive and post MUCH therapy jd has a lot of fun potential
OTP
poly heathers!! but to put them individually in order, mac, chandler (those two are almost tied), duke
nOTP
JD. i know he goes by his initials and that’s just his name but i was trying to yell that. i do not like him i think he stinky get him outta there
random headcanon
she’s not allowed to wear pants with drawstrings anymore because she’s gotten stuck in them too many times. also she’s not allowed to use superglue bc she’s glued her fingers together too many times.
yes both of these are true of me shut up
unpopular opinion
she’s a lot weaker than most people think and a lot stronger than most people think st the same time
and i’m not always a huge fan of her being autistic i think she’s just that painfully awkward and dense
song i associate with them
it is so much harder than you would think to pick songs that are not from their shows?? like the only one in my head is i’m blue dabadeedabadie like i don’t KNOW OKAY
favorite picture of them
#the joys of tumblr mobile#lawd#anyway thank you friend!!#entropy with ezzy#ezzy gets an ask#cady heron#veronica sawyer#mean girls#heathers#caps tw#swear tw

Soo... I finally have time to go a bit in depth into why I love Cassette Beasts after finishing it.
Honestly It was such a blast. I don't remember what I said in my last post and Tumblr doesn't want to collaborate to help me find it so I may repeat some points.
The music is awesome. The art is super charming. The battle system is really developed but not too complex. The mosnters are really creative. And the characters are great too. I didn't know what to expect about the story and while it isn't revolutionary, it's got a few twists and susprises that I really liked.
Honestly, it's a great game for a good price and it really shines thanks to all the effort and love put into it. If you are on the fence, give it a chance.
I'm going to get into end-game stuff so spoilers bellow.
I really loved the story. It was simple but it never felt too boring. Going from place to place, doing quests, exploring and finding new mosnters... It really felt like playing a pokemon game for the first time when you were 10 and everything was new.
Also, finding and helping your partners. Building a relationship and learning about them... Honastly, I didn't dislike anyone and it was really sad saying goodby at the end.
An the bosses. The Archangels are really something. They are so not from here with their 3D models and other representations, they really seem like cosmic horror for the characters. And at the end, when you learn what they are and fuse all together to kinda become one and fight Aleph... Really cool.
I don't remember who said in my other post that you could permafreeze some monsters but thank you for the tip. I tried it and it was really funny. I also tried to turn some monsters to glass and use wind to destroy them. though now that I say it out loud it sound a bit cruel. But, that you can even do this to begin with really shows how great and connected the interactions between elements can be.
My favorite cassette beasts are Lobstacle (love saing its name outloud), Apocrowlypse, Glaistain, Aeroboros and Auriclaw (love its gimmick).
Also, I think that I already talked about the music but honestly, its amazing. When you are fighting and you fuse and the lyrics kick in, wonderful. And the regular battle theme is also great. And the battle against the Archangels. And---
The only thing bad thing I can think of right now is that I still haven't found a bootleg on my own. But still have to do part of the post-game so I guess it's just a matter of time.
Yeah, I may have tried to write this too many times and ended up just rambling... and distracted... But really this is such a great game. One of the best monster tamer out there.
#cassette beasts#this is how you make a monster tamer game#i havent slept too much so maybe it affects the coherence#Lobstacle Lobstacle Lobstacle Lobstacle Lobsctacle#cassette beasts spoilers

The Daryl Dixon Official Trailer - So Epic!
youtube
@wdway:
Isn't it beautiful? Apparently we're supposed to have a long ten minute preview on AMC plus some time early tomorrow. I can't wait. Also the music in the preview link above is Clarie Lune which means moonlight.
@wdway
I've already watched this preview about four times and I foresee doing another four or five before I go to bed tonight. So beautiful and I'm so excited. Does anyone know what the big, good to see you, was? Was it as @twdmusicboxmyster predicted and simply seeing Daryl Dixon back?
@galadrieljones
Omg it’s so lovely, I love the Claire de Lune in the background. I need to watch it more!!
@wdway
Can't wait to see the long preview tomorrow. Or maybe tonight if someone bootlegs it from SDCC.
@galadrieljones
I’m going to rewatch, and maybe bring a little speculative analysis. Also, super excited about the 10min preview! If there’s a bootleg I may still wait, like if the quality is poor.
@wdway
Totally understand.
@galadrieljones
(Though who am I kidding LOL if it’s in front of my face I’m going to watch it )
I have watched it a bunch now, and it is so sweeping and atmospheric. I can already tell I’m going to really like Clemence Poesy and her performance. The little shot of her watching the train go by with the people screaming inside makes me think we will see her in flashback, and therefore, possibly Daryl as well. What he says about things happening to change you, and how she responds that they were both “broken until the world ended” conjures the past and how it has impacted them both.
It seems like we were somewhat on point, predicting that Daryl will end up at the Abbey where the nuns have taken Laurent into custody. He seems to be regarded as some sort of salvation for humanity.
One major twist will be, I suspect, the reason for why. Is he immune? We’ll know soon. I will say I love the idea of zombie-fighting nuns with their great big arsenal. Lol. They fight when they have to, to defend their flock. If anyone understands the nature and purpose of the Good Shepherd, it will be Trappist nuns.
It was very cute to me how Laurent was copying everything Daryl did. Daryl ran his hand through his hair, then Laurent did, too. Daryl took a sip of water, then Laurent did, too. I already want to adopt Laurent and save him lol.
The enemy faction, I am going to take a stab at it being related to the nationalist group that executed the French teams of scientists, re: the WB coda. If there IS a Davinci Code parallel here, then they would probably be aligned with Opus Dei, who are trying to eliminate proof that Christ’s bloodline lives on as a way of keeping control over the narrative they’ve worshipped for centuries.
My guess is that they want Laurent dead because Laurent may carry inside of him some form of the cure that was developed by the teams, which they executed. Laurent would be the holy grail. This is because if there is a cure, then they will lose control of the narrative, which is probably that the scientists caused the end of the world. Laurent, if he is the product of cure-based research, would prove that they could have saved the world, if they had not been executed.
The revelation that Laurent is immune would cause an uprising against those who killed the people who made him that way. My last bit of wild speculation is that the first season will revolve heavily around the plot with Laurent as a gateway into the research done by the French teams, which would then reveal that there are more people like him, all over the world.
We will also learn at some point soon that not all of the scientists on this project are dead. Of course, the Primrose Team was in the US when the end of the world happened. So was Dr. TB Ellis. Finding them would create more vectors toward the research that took place, which may have produced a cure. Of course, they will have to find these scientists, after they find that Paris is in ruins and that all the scientists in France have been executed. They will have to defeat the nationalist group and escape France back to America. As a plot, it is a bit of an inverse to Dead City.
Rather than rescue the boy from inside the evil organization, we are trying to deliver the boy into a cell that theoretically lies beyond the evil organization. Looking backward to Diverged. Perhaps Carol makes some sort of discovery pertaining to Team Primrose while Daryl is in France, and perhaps she goes after him to tell him what she found, because it’s just that important. That’s pure guesswork though.
I was also thinking, let’s have some more wild speculation on this glorious Friday, because it’s fun: What would make a bunch of nuns believe that a young boy is the savior of humanity? That he is their salvation? Catholics don’t take miracles lightly.
I thought, perhaps they witnessed him die and come back to life, not as a walker, but as the same person he was, only immune. This would have huge implications for TD. Because it could set up what happened with Beth very unexpectedly for Daryl.
Let’s say the nuns assure Daryl of what they saw. Maybe Daryl is skeptical, because it seems like he might be. We know he’s perhaps stopped believing in God at some point, according to what he said to Pope in season 11. And so Daryl is skeptical but he goes along with it because he trusts Isabelle and the nuns and he is taken with Laurent and he is chivalrous, so of course he will help them. But then say Daryl discovers that it’s not God, it’s science that cured Laurent and brought him back from the dead. Of course thematically that’s a whole theme: science vs. God, where is the line, etc.
He discovers the research at the laboratory, whcih lead to Laurent’s immunity, and he discovers that this research had been taking place in multiple sub-locations around the world, or even just in a couple of other places, one of them being Grady in Atlanta. Watching him put two and two together there would be extremely exciting and emotional. It would set things up nicely for season 2, which would revolve around escaping France and getting back to the USA to find these scientists and figure out what the hell is going on.
@wdway
Love this. I think your spot on very close to what we'll see. I have more thoughts, I will share those later tonight.
@galadrieljones
I’m going to add one more thing, which is that if this is anywhere near the truth, it could be possible that Beth was recaptured by the CRM after “dying.” Whether she’s still in their custody, I don’t know, but the Snow-White parallels suggest she could be. Just a thought.
I also wanted to share just that I’m also thinking that it is possible he stowed away on some sort of freight ship and that’s how he got marooned. In the trailer, he’s fighting a guy in front of a sign that says, “Muster Station,” which is defined as “the place on a ship where passengers should assemble in the event of an emergency.” There are also multiple freight containers in the background after he jumps ship. So, seems like maybe, yeah, he was chasing something else entirely. I wonder what it was. Perhaps to do with Rick, but this will be the digression that leads him to his happy ending.
Also in the shot where he’s jumping ship, it looks like there are contrails, or vapor trails in the sky, like the kind left behind by aircraft. That could ofc be an illusion idk.
@wdway
Okay I just popped in and you need to go over to the regular safe zone group page and see what Domenica posted about her SDCC workday. She got a selfie with Greg N. She also said something that sounded suspicious to me of course she gushed about being a Bethyler and he said something to the fact that, well then, you're going to love the Daryl Dixon's, (I'm paraphrasing) spin-off something to that effect. Very open to interpretation.
@galadrieljones
Love this insight! Greg said, “Well then you should like the cool stuff that happens in the Daryl series.” !!
Ofc could mean a lot lol. BUT. She said she was crossing her fingers for a dream sequence which means even she, who isn’t TD, thought this could mean a Beth appearance.
Also isn’t Greg the one who spilled the beans about Grady being exploded and them all being dead a long while back? I think it was. Hmmm.
@wdway
Yes, that was Greg.
@wdway
What I actually came on is to ask you if there was a Fear clip floating around?
@galadrieljones
I haven’t seen anything, but I’ve been super distracted by the Daryl trailer. I’ll check around.
The reactions to Troy coming back are priceless lol
Plenty of ppl claiming we saw him as a walker, which, no. Also who would have thought that fans of a show about people coming back from the dead would be this incredulous about characters coming back from the dead
Maybe a test run for Beth. But ofc everyone would be stoked about Beth’s return except Carylers who will rightly be crying.
Fear setting the groundwork for plenty more fun resurrections that for sure.
Also it looks like there is no trailer for Fear 8b. One will not be released until closer to October…? Did they make some last minute changes????
I can’t really see any other reason? Unless they just couldn’t be bothered but that seems unlikely. Maybe they filmed some new stuff and don’t have what they want for the trailer yet?
@twdmusicboxmystery:
So, if there wasn’t a Fear trailer, what are these in reaction to? Was an announcement made about Troy?
@twdmusicboxmystery
Okay, I'm caught up. Finished watching DC and have the Daryl trailer playing on repeat as I type this, lol. Love the trailer! It’s great. I have thoughts on...everything. But I'll probably forget half of them. I'll leave DC for now, since you haven't finished it. But I think it has some very interesting implications, especially for the New York symbolism. And I may have some thoughts on a template they're using. Including how some of the Rick/Negan symbolism we saw during AOW might end up being fulfilled. I know I’m stating the obvious here, but they're definitely setting things up with these spinoffs.
As for the Daryl trailer, just like both of you, I need to rewatch a hundred times to get all my thoughts straight. But just a few first observations. Did we all notice that in this trailer, the captions say, I want HIM to know that I tried. So, the captions were wrong on the ones posted on SM? Also, people were wrong about the recorder. Or at least this trailer makes it look like they are. When he speaks, it looks like he's broadcasting, and people can hear him. Of course, we have to consider that the trailers can be spliced together in deceptive ways. So, maybe that one is still a question mark.
A note on how he interacts with Isabel. We all knew there wouldn't be romance between her and Daryl, but this is still worth noting. To me, the trailer proves the lack of romance. He interacts with her much in the way he would with Aaron or Carol. It's genuine and congenial--I'm sure they'll end up being close friends--but there's nothing tender or remotely romantic betwen them from what we see here. One of my favorite moments in the trailer is when she says the thing about Laurent reviving humanity, and he just tilts his head to one side. He manages to emote SO much skepticism in the way only Daryl can, lol. It practically screams "faith ain't done shit for us."
Which segues nicely into my next point. As you were saying above, Tarah, Laurent is clearly the Christ figure in this part of the story. Daryl's interaction with him (the hug) is far more tender than anything with Isabel. And obviously it's fatherly rather than romantic, but I can still see that Laurent and Beth will be parallels here, in the way that Daryl protects and cares for them.
It would be amazing if wherever he is taking Laurent, Beth is there, and that's how he first sees her. *sigh * cue a billion head canons* I agree with all you both said above. Looks so cute and epic and amazing. Love the music. Love the sweeping shots. Love the haunting little girl walker in the garden.
Love cemetery with crosses across the horizon. Everything looks freakin' amazing!
@wdway
I was wanting to show the tape recorder, it's incorrect this is Daryl talking about the Commonwealth, it's in America, not, It's an America, so sometimes these aren't perfect.
@twdmusicboxmystery, in this preview it does use the abbreviation 'em for them.
@twdmusicboxmystery
The one on Twitter says him. So they’re all different, I guess.
@wdway
That's why I say that we can't totally rely on what is written, that it could be a mistake by the person interpreting it. I will say what I watched was actually on AMC+. Right now they have all three previews available, the very short one with the overturned boat, the long 2 minute preview and the new one minute preview that was shown today. I will say I checked it out also in the longer preview when it first showed up on AMC+ and it also says, 'em.
Even in France we have X's. I thought this was a great shot too of the morning star he's carrying.
What I want to point out here is the hat. Remember the hat in Daryl's apartment an AZ. Hanging on the hook. We saw it when Carol went into Daryl's apartment with Dog in s10e21 Diverged.
I love the Beth floor. Black and white diamonds.
It's pretty bad when you’re truly hoping that the series live up to the promotional spots for it.
@wdway
Guys I loved everything that you wrote above describing this preview. Just a few thoughts about the previous in general. I'm really bummed that we didn't see one for fear. And I'm right there with you guys and saying how are people talking about the Fear preview when we can't view it. Maybe it was only for the people who attended SDCC.
Which doesn't make a lot of sense since you want to promote to a large audience and ny SDCC standards this year is very small because of all the strikes. If in fact Troy is in the preview and there's no reason why we should doubt it at this point that makes me even more excited about the teaser radios scene. Because what was the point of not clearly showing him when you announce hours later he was going to be in part 2. I feel more justified in my feeling that it was a tease for TD with that blonde hair.
@wdway
@galadrieljones
I love all your observations, @wdway. Especially the black and white floor. I can’t tell, but I thought maybe that Daryl had made a recording, then lost it, then it was found by the organization. To me, the thing they show looks more like tape player than a radio.
There also may be a theme beginning with recordings, imprints, etc. We know the French scientist watched a recording of Jenner before she was shot. We think that Daryl will discover something shocking via a recording as well. Computer hard drives, memory. Memory in general. I think and I hope this theme continues to vibrate under the surface of this story.
Yeah I saw the announcement about Troy via a secondary source. It’s a trustworthy account on twitter, but I don’t know where they got that info.
There really was very little information on Fear. Very odd if you ask me.
If they’re delaying the trailer until October, that would mean we’ll be well into Daryl’s spin-off by then. Maybe that’s why. Idk, maybe they made some sort of choice or change in terms of how the information in Daryl’s spin-off will impact Fear.
I do think Troy is returning, but I don’t understand what is with all the weird deflection and lack of information from tptb at this juncture. Why wouldn’t they make a formal announcement?
The rumor has been circulating for months, honestly. Just weird. Anyway.
@wdway
I believe it was in the article though that mentioned Laurent being 11.
@galadrieljones
That seems right! He seems like a cute lil 11yo
Still trying to figure out what the major surprises were supposed to be today though. If it wasn’t Troy, then what was it? What did we learn?? Maybe it’s just because we pay super close attention but other than the DD trailer which was amazing, there was nothing here we didn’t know, and even the DD trailer, while beautiful, was fairly expected. It didn’t contain any bombshells. I don’t even recall them mentioning Melissa McBride joining for season 2…?
@wdway
Them not mentioning MMB is going to be a real thorn in the carylers sides. They are so convinced that they're part of the fandom is going to be the difference between Daryl spinoff succeeding or being canceled. In their minds no one wants to see Daryl in France. The only way to save it is to let everyone know that Carol will be joining (The Carol&Daryl) show to save Daryl in s2.
@wdway
@galadrieljones
Well then LOL. I’m glad they didn’t mention Melissa. Again though…it’s weird! The information is out there. They must know.
@wdway
I left you a link, it's a very short article about what was discussed today in regard to part to a Fear. In this one it says that it was announced that it was Troy in the radio scene at the end of part 1. Then again there's some mistakes in this one also. They said that Fear Part 2 will begin the same night as Daryl's final episode on October the 22nd. Well apparently, these people cannot count 6 Sundays. Daryl's scheduled to end his the week before and then Fear Part 2 begins the 22nd.
@galadrieljones
Weird. Idk I think there’s got to be some confusion with what’s going on with Fear. The journalists are doing their best.
Or maybe it’s perfectly clear and just being poorly communicated idk.
