The Odyssey would have been a lot shorter if Odysseus gave the Cyclops weed instead of wine.
#the odyssey#odysseus#non mdzs#Worse part of this is that this isn't even the first time he's seen this movie.#I don't think I captured the sheer genuine confusion and distress when the Nobody gambit came up.#Mans had his world upheaved for a moment. Know the risks when you blaze it I suppose.#My dad has great taste in films and I can always count on him recommending something really unique.#We've been going through various Odyssey adaptations and I must say; Odyssey (1997) is a good one.#Telemachus is appropriately a moody and emotional (crybaby) teen boy.#Hermes is the twinkiest little fruit I have every seen. No exaggeration. It is truly a sight to bear witness to.#Athena is sadly a weak point. And while the olive tree is constantly drawn attention to...there's no wedding bed gambit.#Penelope fans will really enjoy how she has lots of good scenes. Her plight runs parallel through the whole movie!#The scene with Anticlea on the beach particularly stands out. 'You'are my mother! You're my father! You are my strength!'#She's losing everything and everyone important to her. She has no control in her life or her home.#All she can do is wait and keep her head high despite the rising waters. God I love her.#All in all; I highly recommend this one as another good adaptation. It rearranges and cuts out some scenes but hits the mark overall.

Never seen or read Wicked but it's been really bugging me seeing Ariana Grande & co harp on about how 'Glinda is actually in the closet and that was totally our interpretation the whole time obviously' while nothing happens in the actual movie to explicitly support that, such as the canon lesbian kiss that happens in the book. Like it's one thing when a movie really IS gay and just hasn't kisses or sex in it but it's another to have a movie censor or cut gayness from the source material and then pinkwash it for the promo....... Like damn if you thought Glinda was so gay why did you heterosexualize her. It's 2024.

and if i said that ahsoka should have died in rebels when she fought vader because 1) i still think it would have been a fitting end for her character (and i don't think they've done anything meaningful with her character arc since her "resurrection" that justifies bringing her back); plus it would have cemented vader (trying) to kill every last tie to anakin until luke comes along; and 2) the landscape of current sw would look quite different, and probably (most definitely) for the better, bc filoni wouldn't have gotten to try out live action directing, thus spiraling us into this era where only him and favreau's projects are allowed to keep succeeding.
#the thing is i LOVE ahsoka. i really truly do. but filoni forcing her into every project is making her lose her lustre imo#and him breaking into live action has been detrimental to sw. especially when it's the combo of him and favreau#like in what world do we need a second season of ahsoka and a mcu-ified mandoverse movie#esp over something like the acolyte that was actually original and telling a new story in a (relatively) untapped era. it's infuriating#anti dave filoni#anti ahsoka show#star wars

how it feels getting crumbs for the sequel of your all time favorite movie that child you used to pray for and came out when you were in elementary school (i’m a college animation major now)

It's funny how I was super skeptical of TF One until the shippers that got to see it already said that megop real* and my tune completely changed to "omg movie of the year, I can't wait to see it". Goes to show that I have no standards, no pride, no dignity, there's only megop in my heart.

#this one has layers#reading the hobbit is truly an experience if you've only watched the movies when they first came out#It really feels like Tolkien is making fun of Bilbo's worst vacation ever (I'm only at half of it I haven't been hit with the feelings yet#give me time)#when Gandalf just fucking leaves after the Eagles and Tolkien writes#'The dwarves groaned and looked most distressed and Bilbo wept'#I fucking lost it. Died of laughter in the middle of the night in my room.#Bilbo truly is Mental Breakdown Georg#I would have cried to. Jesus. Somebody give him ten pipe-weeds cigarettes and a gin tonic.#He should have been at club (=at home reading his books with a cup of tea)#rip Tolkien you would have loved posts about torturing your characters (I do not know enough about Tolkien to support this claim)#I love this book so much Bilbo is admittedly a pretty average guy man grown adult and then he has to survive goblins and fly on#giant eagles back and if the guy that had repeatedly saved my ass from death told me 'Well gotta go now. Too-da-loo!' I would have cried as#well. Bilbo may be a character of a fantasy novel but he does not know that. Trying to see things from his perspective for a moment instead#of the external perspective of Tolkien playing the witty narrator truly is devastating.#I love Bilbo Baggins so much. I love the Hobbit so much.#Leaving home always comes at a cost. Rotting inside your house also comes at a cost.#You're going to be uncomfortable and unhappy and desperate and regretting your decision at some point whichever option you choose.#I have history with travels and running away from places. After pondering on it for several days, I have officially decided I did not like the direction of KFP4 and have banished it from my brain. It is no longer canon. KFP4? What's that? Don't know what you're talking about.
#spoilers ahead#it wasn't all bad#I really truly loved the scenes with Li and Mr Ping they were wonderfully hilarious#and the music was great#BUT#I just did not like the direction they took Po's story at all.#and I'm kinda furious they subtly undermined Shifu's character#by making him “fine”/“not fine” with Oogway picking Po as his successor instead of him.#it was only a thing for 2 seconds for the sake of humor but it completely undermines his inner peace character development#first off why can there only be one successor#and second off why can't Po take primarily the fighting side and Shifu take the spiritual side#It FITS HIM#don't know if most people would notice that shifu's character was undermined but because he's one of my favorites I sure did and it HURT#also um the furious five WHY didn't we have them be the main characters with Po instead of the fox chick no one cares about#literally their interactions with Po that's WHY WE'RE HERE DREAMWORKS#also it's become really obvious to me that the fox girl was literally written just so they could cast a specific voice actress in a big rol#nothing against that actress I love her in other stuff but that was a bad move Dreamworks#and another thing#the movie's message about change not always being bad is perfectly fine and good in theory#but such character change is only satisfying from a storytelling perspective if the audience actually WANTS the character to change!!!#I don't WANT Po to stop being the dragon warrior! I don't WANT him to pick a successor! That wasn't satisfying!! like whyyyyyyyyy#Plus he's like way too young?? to be worrying about this???
