Ikaros nodded after a moment. This was something he could do for his brother. The Blight was pressing upon Taravell, upon the creatures that Abelas held so dear, and that was the only thing that could pull Ikaros' attention away from the Laurelin. Away from the Blight that was rotting at the core of his home. If Abelas could come with him, then he would mention it – his idea to venture into the Eluvian. For now, though, he gave Abelas another smile, "Maybe a fancy treat? A dance? I've seen how the new Griffon gets excited to see you." Shrike had been skin and bones, yet now? Thriving, going between Caer Glas and visiting Abelas.

"Of course. Just no one I have to carry, alright?" It was a good joke, a great joke even – he'd done his best for Icarus, and yet still, that had been difficult enough when watching out for others. For now, he looked towards their dragons, romping around, "Come on. I think Gwaern wants to show you how fast he can fly now."

Ikaros did not need to say that the pegasus, even if it did, would not outlive his friend for long. Some heartbreaks lasted forever; while Abelas would never think for a moment that any humanoid creature should never die, he did think nature was particularly cruel for not giving animals the immortality they deserved.

"I think-" Abelas was thoughtful for a moment, the Blight had taken so much from not just them, but everyone. "if the Legion wants to beat back the Blight, they'll need all the help they can get." That included griffons and there was no one better than the Avalonian brothers to help the Legion of the Dead regain what was lost. "Will you look into it at the library for me?" Abelas asked, "Maybe any references to how it was done in the past, I'm sure I can get close, earn their trust, but the griffons are noble creatures - like everything else there's probably more to it." A bow at the right angle, a gift, or maybe just copious amounts of treats. "I'll have some things to get together, maybe we should bring some people with us."

Halloween prompts year 2 day 10

Danny groaned, blearily raising his head from the nest of blankets and pillows he had made in his apartment. He had smelled something strange.

Something strong enough to wake him from his sleep. Danny got up and stumbled to the front door, cursing his luck for getting a fever so soon into his interdimentional road trip.

Peering out of his open doorway he saw a little kid shivering in the cold, badly hidden behind two trash cans in the mouth of an alley. Danny didn't think twice. In fact he didn't think at all. It wasn't uncommon for an Omega to smell a child who didn't have the scent of another Omega on them and immediately claim that child as thier own, and seeing as his home dimension had exclusively Omegas...let's just say there's a lot of drama in family court and a lot of laws pertaining to this.

So of course the next thing Danny knows is that the kid was bundled up inside his very soft and comfy makeshift nest before Danny passed out.

For the next week Danny had this mysterious fever and he acted like a parent on autopilot, barely conscious as he instinctually cared for the little boy. He made them food and cut them up into tiny bits to feed his baby and if it was handfoods like pizza rolls or sandwich triangles, Danny would hold him in his arms and rock his back and forth, humming softly as his child ate.

Eventually his heat ended (note that omegas from his world don't have heats, they don't have alphas and so they don't even know what a heat is) and Danny was very surprised he has a child in his house. But he and the baby are very emotionally attached to one another. When Danny asked what the little kids name was (and man this kid was little) the kid stared at him in the way little kids do before muttering the world "Clone" followed by what sounded suspiciously like a serial number.

Danny decided, nah. His kid now. Sucks to be the bioparent cause Danny doesn't wanna share.

Somewhere in the city, the bats were freaking out. They had raided a lab and discovered not only had one of them been cloned, but the clone had escaped and no one knew where it was. Cue panicked parental frenzy.

mmmm musical cultivator shen yuan again. Feng Xuanlu, the Wind Song. He has this well-loved wooden pipe he inherited from is adoptive father that he uses on occasion. When the traveling day gets slow and he doesn't feel like singing, when he's stressed, when night falls and he's sitting around a fire with his troupe and they've all had a little bit to drink.

His hair is long and black, always tied up into a ponytail or a braid of some sort. When he's in camp he loosens it up until its splayed messily over his shoulder. He has crows feet around his eyes that scrunch up when he smiles. His eyes are bamboo green and his hands are rough and callused from years of plucking strings and work. He has scars on his back that he won't explain the origins of.

His voice is low and warm like a fire, it gets raspy in the mornings or when he's been humming or singing for too long. He speaks like there's sunshine dripping off his tongue. He speaks soft, he speaks and his voice takes up the entire room. He's spent over a decade hearing his praises getting sung and he still gets shy over it sometimes.

Whenever he goes into town he has to have at least three other musicians with him at all times -- not his decision of course, but the unanimous choice of his companions. Shen Yuan gathers admirers everywhere he goes, and his companions have long since learned that their dear friend and leader is completely unaware of it. So they have to beat off these suitors with sticks.

I’ve heard some Mario Movie criticizers call Mario and Luigi’s brotherly chemistry “forced” and “unrealistic,” usually when comparing it to the 1993 movie. Thoughts?

I don't see it. Mario and Luigi's relationship on screen looked to me like just a slightly more affectionate version of me and my sisters' relationship. Didn't feel forced at all.

It's especially weird to compare it to the 1993 movie. That Mario and Luigi might have been technically brothers, but the dynamic was more father-son in nature. It's comparing apples and oranges.

Its genuinely so funny that ford clearly wasn't shaving showering or washing his hair but was wearing and putting on whole ties during the 'MY MUSE LIED TO ME' era like "off to let my paranoia take hold of everything I know and love and devolve in a shell of myself! Gotta look snappy for my empty home I'll scuttle around which is full of only me and the demon I summoned into my life!"

Instead of "20 books to $50k" or "how to increase readership by writing and publishing a book every month that is exactly like every other popular book out there," I need the kind of marketing advice that goes along the lines of, "hey, here's how to get a modest fanbase and sell enough books to justify this as a side gig without having to go crazy and spend more than you earn on marketing." Because honestly, all the advice I find these days either a) requires me to put way more time and money into marketing than I am able to do, or b) requires me to write fast and sloppy in very specific sub-genres, and that's really not why I write stories.

And like Emily Starr, I would--and will--continue to write stories regardless of how many people read them, but it would be nice to be able to reach more than a dozen readers, and to be able to reasonably look on my writing as a part-time job rather than an expensive hobby.

(It doesn't help that there are so many articles out there claiming that self-publishing is dead! It's gotten too bloated and now only a handful can make a living off it! But wait--traditional publishing is also dead! It's gotten too greedy and now only a handful can make a living off it! Mid-level authors? Whether traditionally published or self-published, they apparently no longer exist)
