Meet Cute (1/1) (jegulus)

Regulus was feeling very grateful this morning. He woke up to the sun shining through the curtains, softly onto his face. He was able to spend a good portion of the morning reading in bed, enjoying a nice cup of coffee and some berries, before finally deciding to get up and explore this new city.

As he was wandering down one of the main streets, all the shops open and filled with laughter, light, and happy customers, he couldn't help but be proud of the life he had built for himself. Made for himself. Truly all by himself.

He loved living on his own, going to classes and working a small job at a paper. He was happy. And he couldn't help but laugh that the first days of sun falling on his skin made him feel this way; it had truly been a bitterly dark fall and the beginnings of a cold winter.

He found a used bookstore with cluttered windows and stacks of books he could see piled in a mess and heaps all over. He knew had to go in. It was one of the perfectly quiet and old stores, where you were allowed to touch anything but didn't unless you wanted it. Where you would move silently through the store perusing the isles until you ended up with both rare and simple finds. Trying to decide on just one, he was stuck between an old copy of star atlas and a sweet love story that he was sure would break his heart in the end.

He had barely decided and went to put one down on the shelf, but when he turned he bumped into some shoe stepped quickly back and then a stack of books came tumbling down behind him. Regulus held his breath and shut his eyes tightly, waiting for the crash as the books hit the floor. When he opened them he was met with the mostly dazzling honey golden eyes.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry! Are you okay? Did any books hit you?" The eyes Regulus was now drowning in, apparently were attached to quiet a handsome man. Regulus gaze ran her up and down, clocking prefect messy mop of hair, gorgeous brown skin, and smart but casual attire somehow all perfectly pulled together. His hands were strong and held out, not touching Regulus but ready to catch him clearly. Now Regulus wasn't too sure if it was only the books that fell because his heart was fluttering in his chest.

The man blinked, wide eyes and long lashes, and Regulus realized he'd been staring and not saying anything for too long. "Oh I'm alright. Im sorry I just not have seen you," he stammered out quickly tripping over his words.

"No clearly this was my fault. Glad you're alright. Sorry again about that. Umm which of these were you going to get?" James says bending down to pick up the books. "Oh actually just this one," Regulus replies and waves the one in his hand.

"Could I get it for you? I feel like I owe you an apology..."

"You want to buy me this book? I don't even know your name?"

"Right uh- James. And I would really like to take you for a cup of coffee too," James said rushed, like the words were falling out without him thinking. He shook his head and took a deep breath like he was simultaneously kicking himself and reaffirming his confidence, finally holding out his hand.

Regulus didn't know what came over him but he took James' hand in his own shaking it loftily. It fit perfect and he locked eyes again with James'. "Okay. I'm Regulus by the way."
