i don't really write unadulterated angst and i'm a lover of a happy ending, so i guess it would be bring the ashes to me......... my fic which famously has no ending at all...........and in fact leaves xie lian in a Pretty Bad Place.......... oops

probably you'll know, you'll fall, which i briefly reread not too long ago and. well. to those who continue to enjoy it, i treasure you. i will say i tied up every possible loose end in that fic including?? giving xl a job at sqx's hotel management firm????? let's just say i would do it differently now

honestly no, never, just the occasional rude comment. i delete and move on

9. Do you write smut?

with varying degrees of success, yes. i like to think i've gotten better over time. writing porn is an aspect of craft that really fascinates and interests me, figuring out what i like to read vs what i like to write, balancing titillation with characterization and finding where the two lean in and kiss. half of my private bookmarks are random fics where the sex scenes just worked for me and i must squirrel it away to study under a microscope to figure out Why

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written?

not really, and i don't tend to read them, either. i think they're really hard to pull off successfully and generally my brain isn't on board with reconciling irreconcilable world-building aspects just for the fun of it

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

i don't think so? there was definitely...... a trend of let's call it Unattributed Inspiration in the mxtx fandoms, where any fic or tweeted idea or headcanon that got passed around would inevitably show up in the tag without attributing it to the originator. i remember reading a fic and enjoying it and then suddenly being like Wait...... why is this familiar? and discovering it was very clearly inspired by one of mine lol. i wouldn't call it plagiarism bc let's just all calm down, but it isn't a phenomenon i've encountered outside mostly mdzs fandom, let's put it that way

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes!!!!!! mostly russian and mandarin. i feel like being asked if someone can translate my fic (or podfic it) is the highest possible praise and i'm always very flattered

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

i was going to say no at first but then i remembered that @bluecrystalrainingdaggers helped me write a charity fic back when i wasn't really feeling wangxian but needed to fulfill on the charity raffle we ran. she basically gave me the outline and i wrote it and i would never have survived without her

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

i am a fickle creature, so i don't have one. i have ships i return to over the years when i crave a specific dynamic, like kirk/spock and wolfstar and damen/laurent. in general my ships fulfill a specific need i'm looking for, hualian for the comfort and care, ghostbat for sustainable toxic soulmates, [redacted] for the angst and misunderstandings, vashwood for the doomed clowns etc etc etc

15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Why I'm so … away lately:

Spending my freet time with my Info PDFs on Vijay and Ryder.

This project is somewhat insane and ate already a lot of free time (doing all the casual outfit shots alone). I know I do not need to present it in this way, but as the graphic designer who I am, I enjoy doing this way too much! I just love to create layouts and in this way I also make use of my own VP pics as well in a secondary usage. It is something I cannot life out in my daily job. I've always wanted to create some sort of a guideline. And my ocs are just perfect for that. I wanna do Thyjs and Jaysen as well ofc but I won't start with them for a while. Ry and V need to be done first, then I 'll look into other priorities (e.g. roleplay story -> + turn it into fanfic, get more creative in VP, help some modders maybe) for a while and then I go back to getting this done for Thyjs and Jaysen as well. <3

So what about these documents?

of all they provide some huge help for me to have the best overview possible on their main mods and clothes I use for them. Once this is done, I can just open the PDFs and click onto the links that bring me to the mod page of a specific mod. I've been asked a few times what I used so this will help me find it within no time. Searching on nexus is sometimes a whole pain for me when you do not know the title of the mods. And I don't want to keep everything in "tracked mods" either except for the core mods such as CET, archive XL etc. needed for the game.

it hopefully does a good service to the lovely @gloryride who's going to turn both, Vijay and Ryder, into NPVs soon <3 I want her to have it as easy as I can make it (hopefully it works how I imagined it). So she's got everything neately sorted to look up in lists — especially for the outfits I want to include — even though I'm going to send over all the needed stuff. But if there's need to look it up you can just simply klick on the link that brings you to the nexus page that has the usual additional info, original mods (since my are renamed with prefixes) and who it belongs to.

it also will serve for everyone who wants to take pics of my boys in the future. Because I do love to share them and I wanna see how they look through other VPer's eyes! Therefore I added a short backstory, character dates and inspiration, likes and dislikes so you can imagine them better plus every up to this date outfit I've got for them so far. A bunch of outfits will be included to their NPVs but not all since both have already something between 15-20 outfits and some mods require permission for NPV (it takes ags for me to ask permission). I assume people love more to take pics with NPV rather than having to install all their mods (tho Ry's and V's are okayish; Thyjs on the contrary has like approx. 50 main mods alone lol) but I'll still provide both once I'm done. Dunno how often I'll update these docs since there will always be new outfits for them.

18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.

Hua Cheng can't die, but it's like dying all over again. Once more, the raw, abject torment; once more, his love consuming him from the inside - the single weakness of a ghost king. Once more, his heart in his god's hands, Xie Lian his salvation and demise both - a grave of Hua Cheng’s own making.  He closes his eye, his heart a mess of jagged glass shards in his chest, a shipwreck already in motion between dead ribs.

this is from my fic of hua chengs pov of canon scenes, specifically the confession scene in the original chapter 177 of the webnovels. im proud of this line and this whole fic bc i put in my best writing into it and i like how the lines turned out

for this fic, i initially thought it would be hard to write hua cheng pov but it turned out not that hard actually. i just put myself in his shoes, tried to imagine i was an immortal being existing solely because of love whose mortal existence was suffering but who is made of eternal, undying devotion on a level that most mortals cannot comprehend or achieve. how i interpreted hc when writing this fic was that he's defined by both immense suffering and ineffable love.

in this particular line, he thinks xl would be too disgusted by him upon finding out hc harbours romantic & sexual feelings towards xl, and it's the most vulnerable hc has ever been. xl has always been everything to hc, both his salvation and ruin - he died for xl, and he exists bc of xl, so that's how this line came about. a reflection on how xl literally holds hc's ashes in his hands, having the power to both save hc and end hc, and hc wouldnt have it any other way, bc every single inch of his existence is entirely for xl, devoted entirely to xl. so in this fic i wanted to portray this immortal, eternal love that's beyond anything mortal, is instead a religion on its own, that exists on a scale that no mortal love or mere crush or infatuation can compare to

19. Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?

answered this before here, but basically easiest is feng xin, i love writing him. not just bc he's straightforward but also bc he loves swearing so much and has so much aries Angy/hotheaded energy that it's fun to write his vulgar, hyperbolic and indignant internal monologue and dialogue akshsh

for hardest in tgcf, im not sure, maybe jw or hx if i ever tried to write their pov but i haven't yet. of the tgcf charas whose povs ive written (xl,hc,fx,mq,qyz,yy,sqx), sometimes i actually struggle with xl pov, im not sure why. maybe it's bc his mbti and enneagram are very different from mine and im more used to writing introspective fics so i accidentally end up writing a xl who is more introverted than he actually is (in the novel he often downplays his own feelings to focus on hc's feelings or others' feelings instead). however when writing his pov of pining/thirsting for hc it's really easy kfjddj either way im working on improving my xl pov to be as in-character as possible

Month 7 of The Wait ™️ (I checked this time) is over and done with. I now have confirmation that this blog series of mine will end with month number 10! I wrote about this earlier, but I finally have a date for surgery 🧡

On February 27th, 2024, I will at last have the body I've dreamed about and fantasized of. I'll finally have a vagina~

I got my date earlier this month, about a week after my phone check-in with Dr. Brassard. Nice guy, just FYI! A little more blunt than what I was expecting, but patient and polite all the same. No concerns. It'll be great to meet him in person! After that, the planning started. My medical leave request has been submitted, and I have the hotels I'll need for myself and my husband for the two weeks we've budgeted to be in Quebec booked and ready to go.

Speaking of hotels, did you know that GRS Montreal pays for the first two hotel nights prior to your surgery date if you live far enough away? I didn't until their surgical confirmation email came in! The hotel they have a contract with is pretty nice looking and is a short drive from their site. I cannot begin to express how much I appreciate them doing that for folks. It has chopped off at least $500 from my total expenses for this journey 🧡

Once I get my next paycheque I'll start making my purchases for post-op supplies. If you're on the waitlist for a vaginoplasty as well, here's what I'll be picking up in case you need something to reference:

XL puppy pads for dilation. They brand them for humans too but they cost twice as much for the exact same product, so you're better off going to your local pet supply store and getting them there

Cotton underpants. I'll be getting briefs but for me that's a personal preference.

Naproxen for swelling. Check with you surgeon to confirm if this will be safe for you to take before buying these!

Ibuprophen for pain. My surgeron specifically warned against Aspirin following surgery, so ibuprofen will be the way to go for me. Again, please please please check with your surgeon for what will be safe for you! This post is not medical advice!

Doughnut pillow. This'll take pressure off your groin and move it to your thighs when sitting down. Much more comfortable!

Ice packs. Specifically, Amazon (bleh) sells perineal clay ice packs that are shaped like a maxipad. Useful stuff!

Loose clothing. Nothing tight fitting, especially below the waist.

Hand mirror. This'll help with dilation and with inspecting your condition.

Slip on shoes. Probably self explanatory?

Hand towels. Pick up some that you won't mind getting dirty with lube or any post-op ickiness you may experience.

Which reminds me, non-scented lube. You'll need this to help get then dilators in.

Gauze, hand sanitizer, and bactracin ointment. Cleanliness is next to godliness, as they say! Also you REALLY don't want your vagina getting infections!

Douche. Like, one of those refillable ones. Douching is a critical step in maintaining the health of your vagina, especially in the early stages.

One of those grabby-arm things. You know the ones. Post-op you're not gonna be super flexible so it'll be good to have extra reach.

A walking cane. I'm personally gonna try a track down a telescoping one.

I'd need to redo my math on what this'd all cost but it's not super expensive, so I'm not to worried.

Once my husband gets approval for whatever time off he can get from his workplace, we can book our flights. After that and after buying all the supplies I need, we're good to go for February!

It's still so... i don't know, surreal I guess? I went years thinking this was out of reach for me and now, less than a year after starting this process in earnest, I'll have new genitalia. It's nerve wracking in a way. I think the jitters will only stop after they put under anesthesia.

Something I'm mindful of as well is that my vagina won't work the same way as a natal one. What I am getting is the best our current medical technology can provide, which is bolstered because I'm going to one of the most experienced people on the planet for what I want done. It won't be same as if I was AFAB, but that doesn't really matter to me right now. It will still be everything I need it to be, and it will be mine. That's really the only important thing 🧡

I do have to say, though, actually holding one in my hands and using it for the first time made me suddenly realize exactly what people meant by the Nintendo Switch "feeling like a toy". Almost every console I've ever owned has been a Nintendo system, with the exceptions of a few entries in the PlayStation line - I believe 3-5 specifically - and every handheld system I've owned has been Nintendo. I have never had a PlayStation handheld in my life, as they were a rare sight in my home city due to me growing up in an era where the thing that made you a super duper rich coolkid was having a PSP or an iPod Touch, lol.

So, the only handhelds I've ever held are... Various members of the GameBoy line (mostly just friends having them growing up), DS Lite, DSi, original 3DS, (New) 3DS XL, 2DS (not mine, thank god), and... The Nintendo Switch. I can certainly feel the difference in quality between console game controllers - honestly, the PS5 controller is so dense and classy that I'm too intimidated to use it - but I had no real frame of reference for handhelds. The Switch has been sturdy enough for me, with that familiar Nintendo plastic feel. I got the system when it was new, and it hasn't failed me aside from needing to replace the Joy-Cons once. Claims of it being flimsy felt a little unfounded to me - it's still made of Nintendium, after all, at least for me.

The Steam Deck blows the feel of the Nintendo Switch out of the park. It was intimidating for the first few seconds - I audibly went "woah" upon first holding it in my hands - but it's really amazingly crafted. If I had to describe it, it's like a cross between a Nintendo Switch and a PS5 controller. It's got a very pleasing weight, and a very solid build - I recognize now that the "flimsy", "toy-like" qualities of it were honestly quite literal descriptors. The Joy-Cons are incredibly lightweight, and you can kinda... Squish into the plastic, almost. It's a device you fuck around with. There's a distinct kid-friendly vibe to the whole thing.

The Steam Deck is for some QUALITY GAMING. It feels so much more professional and "adult", for lack of a better term.

There's a distinctly very pristine, wholesome, and sexless aura to the Nintendo Switch not present with the Steam Deck. The idea of seeing sexual content, for example, on the Steam Deck is much less of a jumpscare than it is for the Nintendo Switch, despite how much more porn and porn-adjacent games I see on the Nintendo Switch's eShop in comparison to my Steam suggestions. ...Which, side note, is wild, by the way. Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for there to be zero adult games on the Nintendo Switch - it is a Family Console, after all, not a Children's Console; It is made for people of all ages, not just the 12-And-Unders - but you really would think they'd be sequestered into their own little category or something. Nope.

I got a Steam Deck for my birthday like, a month ago, and I have to say, I'm in love with gaming in a way I haven't been in years. I've been playing this thing almost every day. It's genuinely an extremely good system.

I knew I'd love to have one since I vastly prefer handheld console gaming above literally everything else - which is why the Switch and DS lines were such hits for me - but I really underestimated just how good of a purchase this would be. Which, honestly, I'm glad for, because these things do cost a pretty penny.

The fourth day of May is a special holiday. It is one when we come together to celebrate all things Star Wars™. So please, allow us to say: Star Wars Day! May the 4th Be With You

While everyone celebrates differently, our May the 4th celebration brings with it a variety of special treats for players of Star Wars: The Old Republic™. First off, all players who log in between May 3rd and May 10th will earn a new minipet: the adorably boxy and extremely visible orange P1-XL Droid. 

During that same time, the Cartel Market will be holding a 50%-off collection-unlock sale—and all players will earn double XP. All these promotions run from May 3 (starting at 1200 GMT) to May 10 (ending at 1200 GMT).

We’ve also heard whispers about special May the 4th observances from our friends elsewhere in EA. But you’ll have to ask them about that.

Meet The Team

This is a particularly special May the 4th for us, because Star Wars: The Old Republic recently celebrated its 10th anniversary! So, it’s a perfect time to get to know some of the people behind the game. For this edition of the Community Update, we sat down with Creative Director Charles Boyd, Project Director Keith Kanneg, Lead Cinematic Designer Ashley Ruhl, and Community Manager Jackie Ko to discuss all things Star Wars.

First off, what’s your earliest memory of Star Wars?

KEITH: Well, mine may be the earliest. I had my first date with my wife nearly 45 years ago—to see Star Wars: A New Hope! Over the years, we took our kids to all the Star Wars films, waiting in lines for days, just to be near the front of the crowd.

CHARLES: I honestly don’t have one specific memory. I grew up with the original trilogy on Betamax and all the toys from my older brother, so it feels like it’s always been a big part of my life.

ASHLEY: I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. I remember watching Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back on VHS, and at the end there was a trailer for Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. I excitedly asked my mom “So when does the next one come out?!” and was delighted to discover we already owned it.

JACKIE: I was probably around that age too—definitely younger than 10. My parents would take us to a video rental place and I remember pointing at a VHS tape of Return of the Jedi because I liked the cover art. I couldn’t quite grasp everything that was happening, but I just knew that I wanted to watch more and I wanted to be just like Princess Leia.

Why do you think Star Wars has become—and stayed—such a major cultural touchpoint? What makes it so special?

CHARLES: I think Star Wars is really excellent at presenting big, grand, and exciting ideas while also keeping them relatable. It’s as much a fairytale as a sci-fi story; family conflicts play out with blasters and space battles, and every location is populated by regular workaday folks right alongside the outlandish aliens and psychic space wizards.

KEITH: Right, Star Wars is about family, but it’s also about good versus evil, with deep and compelling stories. And, you know, lightsabers, stormtroopers, The Force…

ASHLEY: That’s what it is for me, that meshing of technology and fantasy. Star Wars has futuristic visions of spaceships and blasters that are detailed enough to feel real, but it also has a mystical power of The Force connecting all things in the galaxy. We can relate to the experiences while also believing in the magic.

JACKIE: For me, when you look at the original trilogy, it had a perfect combination of action, adventure, love, creativity, wonder—but it only gave a peek into what was clearly a much bigger universe. There are so many more stories that can be told within that galaxy, and each of those only adds to the magic.

What’s your favorite planet in Star Wars: The Old Republic?

KEITH: Oh, that’s not easy to answer! Tatooine comes to mind, but mostly due to A New Hope and a line in our game from Theron: “I don’t like Tatooine, but I do like saying Tatooine.” From a gameplay perspective, my favorite place for Daily Missions is Yavin 4, as there’s tons to do, fun missions, and a wide variety of mobs.

ASHLEY: I really like Voss. I enjoy the design of the Voss people, the landscape, and the experience of the Shrine of Healing. It’s a unique interpretation of The Force that goes beyond the Jedi���Sith conflict.

JACKIE: Alderaan! I cannot get over how beautiful this planet is. I’m from the desert, so I love any landscape that features snow—well, as long as it’s not at Hoth levels! Alderaan has the perfect balance of greenery and magical winter.

CHARLES: I don’t know if I could pick an all-time favorite, but my favorite recent addition is Mek-Sha, the lawless port built into a mined-out asteroid. I love the gritty outlaw vibe the artists brought to it. It feels like a ramshackle harbor that’s hanging over the void of space.

What is it about Star Wars: The Old Republic that has kept players coming back for more than 10 years?

JACKIE: Well, it’s like what I was saying about the original trilogy: Star Wars: The Old Republic adds to the universe several times over. There isn’t just a singular story. Players can get lost in all kinds of different stories—and then build their own stories and spaces with Strongholds and Guilds and the like.

CHARLES: It really is a unique experience. You play the hero (or villain!) of the story, decide what choices they’d make when it really counts, decide who they’ll romance or befriend or betray, and control their journey across the sprawling Star Wars galaxy.

ASHLEY: And all those different stories keep players coming back to try different roleplay opportunities. You can be a vicious Sith one day and a cavalier smuggler the next, and with a fully voiced story it feels like you’re creating your own cinematic saga. Plus, it’s fun to revisit all the iconic worlds from the movies. Riding a tauntaun mount on Hoth or a bantha on Tatooine is really satisfying.

KEITH: And I think the variety and customization helps make it special. You can be a Jedi, a Sith, a Mandalorian, and more. You can give each one a unique look. And even after 10 years, we have so much more planned. Our fans constantly push us for new content, new features, new ways to play, and I’m fully expecting we’ll continue to surprise them.

How you met was a story for a drunken night; you dressed as a bloody cheerleader with purposefully torn fishnet stockings, corn syrup blood all over your costume, spiked boots and glow in the dark paint decorating your tattoos. Standing in the family planning isle of the drug store you were looking over the shelves of condoms in the thought and hope you'd get laid at the halloween party. Reaching for a pack of standards you are aware of the pack of XL's next to it on the shelf... perhaps? nah, the guys round here never need XL's... pondering this thought a presence next to you finally spoke, making you jump;

"Miss, you need that box of Extra Large or..."

Turning, your eyes almost fell out of their sockets. The guy was huge, dressed like a lumberjack with a bushy beard and sparkling blue eyes, a fake plastic axe hanging from his belt;

"Oh no, no its fine, i'm just getting mine in case i get lucky, but i don't think anyone round this town actually has the equipment to actually need an XL"

With a smirk he reached for the pack of XL's, holding them in his massive palm as he still managed to pull a bottle of lube from the next shelf with the same hand... before winking at you and walking off to the checkout.

Twenty minutes later you entered the bar, a metal cover of Thriller doing its best to rip the speakers off the walls. Approaching the bar you tried to get the bartenders attention, when a wall of muscle made contact with your elbow;

"So, can i buy you a drink?"

Grinning you nodded;

"Mr XL Lumberjack, you sure can"

That night Sy proved he needed the XL size condoms (and lube), and it only took two more nights before your resolve crumbled and you begged for him to go bare, just the feel of his eye watering girth splitting you open skin on skin was enough to make you come over and over again.

I love every season the most while we’re in it. There are wonderful things about each; flowers and warm days with cool nights for spring, fireworks and ice pops with summer, sweaters and Halloween with fall, and snow days with winter. I honestly can’t choose.

3. Your fav time of day/night?

I’m not exactly a night owl but I enjoy the evening (though while I’ve been away working professionally, I go to bed around 3-4 every night and get 4 hours of sleep haha)

4. Your most MOST fav Billy scene?

What a hard question. I’m a big fan of the moments where Dacre is acting his fucking dick off, specifically the sauna scene. As someone who’s career is theatre and live performance, he’s very technical and incredibly earnest and I love it.

I’m a tequila and a moscow mule girl through and through. Back home there’s a bar I frequent called The Monster Club that has a drink called “Dracula’s Mule,” and it comes with a pair of plastic fangs. So out of sight

I suppose it depends. I like the opportunity to have a garden and a tire swing in my yard, but I like places and things too much

IT DEPENDS ON THE MOOD THAT DAY. They have such different energies--sugardaddy Steve is always rooted in protecting and providing, while sugar daddy Billy almost always comes with Dom undertones and I’m a harlot.....I don’t think I can choose.

Yearning,,,,,Pining for my bed back home. Sleeping in an XL twin for the past month has really made me appreciate the set up I have in my room. My plush blankets, rugs, wall art. 

Before I left @cherrydreamer​ had two Stevie Nicks commissioned and sent to me and I’m so excited to hang them up. Have I mentioned today how much I love Lis? If not--I love her.

Build a Fortress (Hawks x Reader)

Prompt: Hawks randomly enters your apartment with two bags filled with vacuum sealed pillows and a strong intent to battle.

It was rather peaceful in your apartment. The balcony doors were open letting the cold night wind enter. You were too engrossed in the show you were watching. With a tub of ice cream on one hand, you dip a slice of bread causing the surface to dent. Ice cream and bread were your guilty pleasures each time you would watch this particular show.

With eyes glued to the TV, you failed to notice the entry of your boss. The boss who was also known as Japan’s #2 Pro-Hero.

Your relationship with Hawks was… unique to say the least. You had begun working for him for about a year now and things were always a rollercoaster ride. It all started when you finally began to get comfortable around his presence. He managed to catch you off guard and flirt like the cheeky birdy he is.

To say that you were flustered would be an understatement. Anyone who didn’t find Hawks attractive would have to be low on IQ, cursed with poor eyesight, or just plain boring. At least that’s what you thought. Stuttering your response only caused him to advance even more. Of course, you liked it. You did, afterall, have a liking for him.

Keeping things professional with him was always a challenge. From back and forth flirting, to one day taking you out on a spontaneous flight at night, it was safe to say that your harbored feelings grew. Yet, you always managed to keep the line present. The thin line of him being a boss and you being his sidekick.

“C’mon Chicken nugget,” That’s what he’d always say. “You gotta try something new! Live on edge and enjoy life!”

How were you supposed to do that when the life you wanted to try was with him? Flirting always made you think that perhaps this would lead to something but that’s all you thought it was. Playful banter that would one day stop when he finds someone else.

When he found out that you were living on the 20th floor, he sent out a memo (but only to you, and you alone) that all employees who possess a balcony should keep it open. In case he would need something from them (or you, to be specific). His plan was all too successful knowing you strayed away from conversation with others. In fact, him being your boss was his lucky card to actually get closer to you.

Now that he was perched on your balcony, his eyes landed on the TV and the back of your head glued to the show he knew was your favorite. Welcoming himself in, he placed the two huge bags he had been carrying. Wanting to get you flustered, he literally jumped and flopped on to your couch. Mission accomplished.

“WHAT THE F-- HAWKS?!” You shrieked. Not at the sight of your boss being beside you. You had been expecting he’d be bound to flap his wings to your apartment. You were shocked at the thought of him seeing you in a loose shirt, messy bun, and the glorious tub of ice cream on hand.

“Hey Chikadee! Whatcha eatin?” His signature smirk caused your heart to flutter and your cheeks to burn. He loved seeing you like this. So calm and relaxed. Not a care in the world.

“What does it look like I’m eating?” You replied and placed the tub on the table. “But more importantly, what the hell are you doing here, Hawks? Is there something I can help you with?”

“Yes. There is actually.” His smirk faded. After knowing him for a year, you weren’t exactly sure if this were a joke or something serious. “I can only trust you for this job.”

His eyes seemed to scan around your apartment. Looking at the walls and any possible places for hidden cameras. Pulling his visor down, his eyes glued to yours. Almost like he was anticipating every move you were about to do.

“Let’s have a pillow fort battle!”

THIS OVERSIZED PIDGEON.

“Hawks... “ Your eyes met his. The way he smiled almost seemed as if he knew you were putty in his hands. “Are you here at this time of night, to build pillow fortresses?”

“Somethin’ wrong about wanting to make some late childhood memories with the person you like?” Hawks answered as he stood up and extended a hand towards you. Still wearing his hero costume, the lighting in your living room somehow showed the cuts of his body suit even more. Accepting his hand, he practically tugged you towards him. “That’s a good little birdie~”

“I don’t have enough pillows though…” You scanned and mentally counted just how many pillows your room had to offer. More or less, 30 pieces. Not enough to make a decent fort.

“Worry not, my little lovebird, for I have come prepared!" He was more than glad your space was enough for him to use his wings. Flying over to the huge bags, he handed you one. Inside were vacuum packed XL pillows. Perfect for building fortresses.

"You've been planning this for days, haven't you?" You asked as you counted and strategized your game plan. A small smile tugging the corner of your lips.

"You know me too well." He gave you a wink as he began to unload his sealed pillows.

Looking at your living room, it would be a little tight due to the sofa. Just one look at you and Hawks immediately knew what to do.

"How bout we set aside the sofa to create more space?" He offered. A bunch of his vermillion feathers floating around, waiting for the command. Given the go signal, the feathers went to work. While the sofa and other things were being moved, you took out 4 blankets. 2 for each of you.

Minutes later, the two of you began to build.

Hawks decided to discard his jacket and a few of his feathers. The look on your face priceless when he stuck them like darts on your wall. Still, the way he managed to shape them like a heart caused you to roll your eyes and taze him a bit using your quirk.

"Hey. No kinky stuff now, chicka!" He fought back by sending a bunch of small feathers to tickle your sides. Earning a laugh from you. "How bout we battle who has the sturdiest fort, ey?"

"Oh! I know the perfect accessory!" You clapped your hands as you stood up from your fort. Taking 2 pieces of paper, you formed each of you paper boat hats.

Seeing the way your eyes sparkled as you made your way towards him was more than enough for the winged hero. Standing up, he bowed his head a bit so you could easily crown him with the boat.

"I'll use my small feathers while you use your sparks, fair enough?" 

"Game on, Pidgy!"

Jogging back to your fortress, you began to prep your quirk. Small yellow sparks formed on your fingertips. Across the floor, small red feathers began floating.

It felt as if the whole room went silent. Seeing Hawks' eyes observing you like easy prey made your spine tingle. God, this bird man was beyond the definition of handsome.

Both of you did a small countdown and began the small fight.

Small red feathers and began littering your carpeted floors. Every so often, small sparks would light up the living room. The time came where one of your pillows exploded with a sneaky feather.

Wanting to get even, you sent a rather large spark to his front pillows. White feathers began to fall like snow on his small area. His competitive side emerged and sent some slightly larger feathers. Seeing his action, a rope of electric current went straight for him.

Both of you leaped forward and rolled towards the middle. Both attacks destroyed all pillows on each side. White feathers began falling through the air as the two of you laughed on the floor.

Just as you were about to stand, Hawks grabbed you by the waist and pulled you into a tight hug.

"And who said you could stand up?" Hawks whispered into your ear. "Stay with me like this. Even if only for a while."

Feeling you relax in his arms, he tangled his legs with yours. Laying on his chest, you could hear the sound of his steady heart beating. It was enough to lull you to sleep.

"(Y/N)."

"Hawks?"

"You know you can call me by my first name, right?"

If there was anything to grip on you would. But him in his body suit, the only thing you could do was to clench your fist and bite your lip. Once again, the thin line was starting to fade.

"Why are you like this, Keigo?" Your body was starting to tremble slightly. You felt his arms wrap around your body much tighter. "Why not go for other girls? Or models? Or Pro-Hero's?"

"What's wrong with you? I find you perfect."

"You're my boss."

Shifting his body to the side, he managed to let you use his arm as a pillow. Still, your legs tangled with his and his arm draped around your waist.

"I think we're both aware we crossed that lining months ago, chicken nugget." He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. "But, I won't pressure you if you don't want to."

Staring at Hawks from this angle was new. It felt as if he were not Hawks but Keigo Takami and no one else. Seeing him like this felt as if you had just woken up from a dream and your dreams became a reality when his gorgeous yellow eyes looked at yours.

"What… What if I want you to be mine?" Your eyes broke the contact.

His rough hand cupped your cheek. Bringing you back softly into his sincere gaze.

"Then I'll say it if you want." He leaned forward and gave your lips a soft but lingering kiss. "I'm yours, my little lovebird."

Not able to hold it in, you wrapped an arm over his waist and you felt him sit the two of you up. Giving you the right angle to adjust and wrap your arms around his neck.

When you pulled away so slightly, your eyes drifted to his smirking lips.

"Can I… Can I kiss you?"

"Baby bird, you don't have to ask~"

With that he was the one who held your nape and softly pulled you in for another kiss. You kissed him and you kissed him more. And he felt like a little boy being given his Endeavor plushie. Pure unadulterated happiness at finally being able to kiss you back again and again.

By the time you two parted for air, you two were leaning on each other's foreheads. Staring at each other with half hooded eyes. Somehow, your sight drifted to the corner and saw how you still had one pillow standing.

"Looks like I won the battle, Hawks."

Your gasped as a red feather zapped thru the pillow causing it to explode.

"Not a chance, love. Not a chance."

To end the battle with his victory, he pulled you back into his arms and kissed you. Bringing you both to lay down on the floor, finally letting go of the thin line that had already disappeared the moment you flirted back months ago~

stoneblock / sb2

general thoughts: second one is much more polished and better. definitely good for multiple people to work on at once as a team. random rewards are actually useful and can give you good stuff early on!

thoughts on mods: thaumcraft is useless but is actually pretty cool if you choose to get into it. draconic is *chef's kiss* so fucking sexy, along with tinkers construct. resource chickens are GREAT. fluid cows need some polishing and take a stupid amount of wheat and time to get places with. anything past draconic (project E and so on) terrifies me so we haven't done much with it

thermal expansion is GREAT, the little machines make the best noises (esp. the pulverizer. ahhhh). flux networks is also great and i love the interface! ae2 is a pain but arguably fun to work with. i don't use immersive engineering for much tbh but it's good for making cloches :3

other mods are also useful but these are the ones i know off the top of my head by name

tips:

start chickens early on! they are great for getting loads of resources in the beginning of the game- most resources can be obtained through chickens. also, you can stack up to 16 chickens and breed them up to 10/10/10 in stats- if you do that, they'll give you 3 of their item about every second ago

yes, chicken boxes (nesting & breeding) are affected by the acceleration wand. NO they are NOT affected by imaginary time blocks. sorry lads

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT CURSED EARTH UNLESS YOU ARE READY. enclose that shit in obsidian and have water buckets ready to turn it off in case something goes wrong. also, a little goes a very, very long way

have at least one cloche for wheat. you'll need both the seeds and the wheat itself (if you have too much wheat and not enough seeds, you can get one seed from 2 wheat in your crafting panel)

don't worry about the inventory crafting extension. it's cool and all but if you're anything like me you'll either forget you have it or hate it because it doesn't use the same interface as crafting tables/stations

the ME system (computer) is super time consuming to build but also extremely fucking useful. do yourself a favor and build that before any mob farms. your storage space will thank you

don't forget to add in optifine if you like to use it, and also be sure to slap this mod (not the rewritten version! that one may not work) in there so you can grow top tier inferium + nether star seeds in the cloches. note that you CAN'T grow neutronium in there, sorry :(

challenge ideas:

actually use thaumcraft lol

don't use the mining dimension. for this you'll need to do a LOT of hammering and sieving- luckily there are autohammers/sieves just for this! :)

general thoughts: hehe skyblock

really though, fun pack! great for working on as a team. in fact i'd honestly recommend it

thoughts on mods: sky orchards is time consuming but it's a nice way to gather resources! haven't used resource hogs at all, honestly not sure if they're necessary. tinkers is here and i LOVE the porcelain smeltery. very compact, very cute. can't remember a lot of other mods right now but the pack is generally pretty nice™

tips:

you can't smelt cobble in the porcelain smeltery to get seared stone, so try to use petrified resin blocks instead

get hopping bonsais asap! also remember that they need to be on a chest to deposit their contents

slab chests aren't really worth it. slab furnaces and tables though..... Slightly more worth it. i still wouldn't really recommend them except for the achievement tbh

if you don't want a super horizontal base, build up! you have a LOT of room to build upwards, and you have the ability to climb walls (jump, shift + w, then tap shift while holding w to get to the top)

if you're in a snowy biome, put something above your smeltery. snow will break it if it starts building up layers on the inside

slime boots are your best friend! great for if you accidentally fall off. easiest way to get them is building a smeltery and then standing in it for the congealed blood

nether portals don't work, don't spend time on making one! check out the cakes instead (just make sure you aren't making xl food mod ones)

compact claustrophobia

general thoughts: literal actual hell in a cube. fun! not the best for multiple people to work on as a team; there are certain places where the quest trees kinda bottleneck and it's difficult for people to work on the same thing. don't recommend if playing in tight spaces actually affects your claustrophobia

and yes. the fart sounds stop being funny after a while. like the second time tbh

thoughts on mods: i don't know most of the mods in here by name- or at least, ones that aren't also in sb2- so i can't give much in specifics. that said, whatever gives you the thermoelectric generators is great and really useful for power. also the autoclickers are 👌

tips:

do yourself a favor and grind for more tiny compact machines. you'll need some later and you'll also want to use them for extra space

autoclickers + vacuumulator + hopper and chest setup works Great, def recommend. also as a note, try to avoid standing in front of autoclickers that are left clicking- they DO hurt you

save your poop and work on getting a farm asap. you can use it as fuel that smelts up to 32 items if you just mix it with wheat

(i haven't played this as much as sb2 so unfortunately i don't have much to say)

challenge idea: only use one room of each size at a time. this is going to be nearly impossible given the size of a lot of machines, but trust me, it's (probably) possible

general thoughts: bullshit. not in a fun way. it's really just complex for the sake of being complex tbfh. you want a challenge that's actually just hours upon hours of suffering? congrats here you go

the only thing that makes this better than rlcraft is the fact that it has an actual quest/achievement line and doesn't absolutely hate its players

thoughts on mods: the only cool one is whatever you build the totem pole and do dances for, that's it. maybe the dark forest place too bc it looks cool even if it IS a pain in the ass as well. tombstones are kinda useful too tbh

actually serious thoughts: super overrated. incredibly frustrating. another pack that isn't challenging so much as just fucking horrible. it's mean! it hates you! you'll eventually hate it too! i've sunk so much time into this and honestly? it's just not worth it. it really just isn't. nothing you do will ever please the gods of rlcraft and if you're lucky you'll build a nice sexy base that will be gone the next time you die because the game decided your bed wasn't valid :)

if you want an actual challenge, play compact claustrophobia. play packs that limit you in terms of space or resource gathering. don't play packs like this that are only hard because they spawn big fuckoff dragons that burn everything all the time constantly, or that respawn you fuck knows where bc somehow your bed unloaded or """got obstructed""", or that have mobs that will literally go through walls just to commit murder. oh and half the time you can't even sleep because it just randomly spawns a mob that can kill you!! just don't do it, man. your time and energy are worth more than that

Borderlands Foam Wig Tutorial (Tyreen)

I was chatting with the lovely @void-noises-exe​ and it eventually circled around to offering to make a wig tutorial because you don’t see too terribly many, just thought I’d throw mine out ( especially because It was next to impossible to find good references of a foam version of Ty’s hair.) So this will be for foam wigs in general but Tyreen’s hair specifically (with a few pics of my Fiona wig from tales as well because they better accentuate my points) I didn’t plan on making this so I am missing a few pictures that might be helpful but here we go. This will not be short.

Supplies: 

-Craft foam (ideally, in small and XL sheets, but you can make do with whatever size you have available) 

- Spray paint as close to the BASE color of the wig you need (for Ty I used white, for Fiona a medium brown) ideally in a matte. 

- a FUCKLOAD of paints (i use cheap acrylics from the craft store ) in Black, and then several shades of the colors in the hair. (For Fiona i used i think four browns? Tyreens shaved sides have three browns, and the top had an additional yellow-brown i mixed) try to vary them in darkness levels to add depth.

- multiple paint brushes. I like to use around four or five of varying sizes and hardness levels.

- plenty Hot glue, and a hot glue gun (note: you COULD use other typres of adhesive, I like hot glue because its got great hold on foam, it sets FAST and worst case scenario I can take a hair dryer to it and melt it again if I need something to be undone.)

- scissors

- duct tape

-plastic wrap

-sharpie

-wig head

-Plenty of reference images

(optional supplies include a rotary cutter and or exacto-knife [trust me, itll make your life so much easier] ,  and patience. )

SO to start

1) Put your hair in a wig cap or however you plan on wearing it under your wig. Wrap your whole hair bit of your head in plastic wrap. Make sure you get over your ears and the baby hairs on your neck if you want to keep them. 

2) Wrap all the plastic covered bits in duct tape. This is easier for a friend to do on you, but not impossible to do alone, just make sure to get it all. It should be snug. Make sure you get as far down the back of your neck and down your sideburn area as you can. (Most characters have a bit of fringe hanging down in the back so its not the BIGGEST concern for them, but Ty’s got nada so you’re gonna want some good coverage for your hair line.) 

3) Take your sharpie and draw an outline of where your ear is, and along the hairline you’d like your wig to have. For short haired characters you dont want to cut too far behind the ear or your hair will peek out, so I like to underestimate how big my ear is and adjust as needed later. Dont make your wig hairline too high either, particularly if you’re making a wig for a character who has no fringe in the front. 

4) Take that bad boy off and cut along your outlines. Try it on again, adjust lines as needed. rinse and repeat. 

5) once you reach a semi-accurate mold of your head, you’re gonna wanna take it off and cut AT LEAST 4 (front, back, and both sides (I like to do 8, it will lay flatter) sections,coming to a point at the crown of your head. It should come out looking something like this. NOTE : they’re all still connected in the middle. If you’re doing 8, cut each of these 4 in half. )

6) Lay out your foam beneath this. If you dont have a piece of foam big enough to trace this bad boy onto, what I do is literally just break out the hot glue gun a bit early, glue a couple pieces together along the edges, until i get a nice big connected surface. Trace this guy on there as accurately as you can, cut it out, and then glue all your sides together. Now you should have a foam version of your duct tape hat. 

(Dont worry if the sides wont stay down, if you’re doing a character like Ty where thats an issue, we’ll get to that part later. ) 

7) (Optional but VERY helpful) Grab your wig head, and your duct tape head. Tape the duct tape back together and put something in it to make it hold shape, I use poly-fil. Tape the head-form to the wig head, and put your little foam cap on top of that. 

8)  Time to get creative. You’re gonna want to start from the bottom layers first. For Tyreen that’s the long fringe and her undercut. The strategy I decided on was to take a few large rectangular strips of foam, and lay them out everywhere I wanted the undercut to be and cut along the edges to match the hairline. I don’t have a picture of this exact point in the process but I have one from the beginning of the next step. Really the only thing to note at this point is obviously, your head is round and rectangles are not, for the curves where it sticks up along the edges, cut down where it sticks up in a little triangle and hot glue the ends together (you can sort of see this at the top left in the picture below). Dont worry about seams at this point, we’ll hide them later. 

9) This was not the case for Fiona who has very flat hair ( especially because of her hat) but Tyreen has a lot of volume especially towards the front of her head. For hair pieces that need volume, such as the ones that are glued down here, cut two of the exact same foam piece (i like to do them in little waves like the side, but also just a little arch is good for volume without flips such as the front piece) and glue the matching edges together. Make sure the hair triangle is facing the way youd like it to! Then Flatten out the top as much as you can, the bottom will keep the volume and the top ill be able to be covered by “2D” hair pieces. 

(NOTE: Honestly, it’s REALLY difficult to end up with an exact copy of cannon, and I ALLLLWAYS get carried away with the spikes. In the end, go by your reference images, but also follow your heart. Cosplay is half about having fun creating. )

10) Once youve started gluing, make sure to keep in mind where your part is (if you have one). For Fiona i didn’t trust myself so I glued in the hair at the part BEFORE anything, and left them ready to be glued down while I worked my way up to them. 

NOTE: All the hair at the parts of BOTH wigs is a single piece of foam.You want a nice wide base whenever possible to cover up the seams of all of the other edges of the hair. For your part, Carefully glue along the very end of your strip of foam and stick it down. It will be the last piece to be glueddown on top of everything else to make it look nice and clean. 

11) Slowly start working your way around the head, gluing down first anything that will need to be covered (3D pieces and bottom pieces) before getting towards the top where youll need to be more strategic about what is going down and what can cover your edges. I’d definitely recommend mixing 2D and 3D pieces if that’s something you want to experiment with, otherwise, such as in the pic below, it is possible to get volume from a 2D piece, simply by gluing it in a way where it wont lie flat against the head. 

12) in the picture above you can also catch a glimpse of Ty’s cow lick. Those are done exactly the same as our 3D pieces from before, only you trace the edges of the open end, and should end up with a triangular third side to be glued in, then just glue along the edges just like the hair part. 

13) Dont feel you have to overdo how many pieces the hair has, remember you may also paint in pieces and designs when it comes to the line-art! 

14) Once you’ve added everything from the bottom that you’d like to, go ahead and glue down your hair-part. 

15) So, obviously, I wasn’t a big fan of Tyreen’s undercut just being flat foam across half my head. So I took an exacto to it for what felt like years. REALLY over-do it on the edges, it’ll get rid of that harsh foam line and give it a little more of a natural blend. Also pay special attention to all of your seams in the foam. The more distressing there is there, the less youll be able to spot lines later. 

16) So once you have the overall structure of your wig and you’re thinking you might be happy with this, its spray paint time. (I’d recommend disposable gloves for this, you’re gonna need to maneuver it every which way to get the pain in every cranny and that paint does NOT like to come off easy.)  Theres really not much advice I can offer on it, just be patient, and do a couple layers, spray it from every angle and let it dry completely before moving on to the next step unless youre as impatient as I am and dont mind ruining a few paintbrushes. 

17) So, like the Fiona pic a few back or this one here, you should have a fairly flat evenly painted foam sculpture. Now is around the time you might start seeing all the inaccuracies in what you’ve made. You gotta push past that it’ll look great I promise. Time to get really creative. 

18) for Ty I started by painting the buzzed bits in a base brown, and started in on the line art and her roots while i waited for it to dry before going in with two more colors of brown for depth. 

19) For her roots I ended up using three colors. Black at the very bottom (which blends into the line art) a dark brown that matches more or less the buzz, and then after the fact, a custom yellowed-brown to blend better into the white and give us a little more texture. For this and the rest of the cel-shading in the hair, dab your brush before painting and try to mostly stick to light strokes in one direction (OR: if you have one, a particularly hard bristled paint brush does wonders for this) you don’t want the ends of your strokes to be too defined. 

20) Outline the edges of the hair and all prominent pieces, particularly the hot-glue seams, itll make them less noticable. (dont forget the little animation squiggles for Ty’s sides) and beyond that-- honestly, black out to your hearts content. These pics are from when I thought I’d finished. I really felt I’d over detailed. The next day I looked at a picture and realized there is always WAY more texture and outlining than I feel like I see. Honestly, you cant really over-do it, especially with fine solid black lines. 

21) The next day I came back at it with the yellowed-brown and LOTS more solid black lines. (Currently in the process of taming down where I got too excessive with the spikes on the side) 

22) Once it’s all dried, time to try on. Here’s where we address if you have a short haired character, and the edges of your wig just wont stay down -- invest in a little theatrical grade spirit gum. It’s not too terribly expensive, and unfortunately, I tried the cheaper halloween makeup kind, and it just wont hold how you need it too (and please for my sake, also make sure you get spirit gum remover) I took some hair gel (you could also use elmers glue) just to glue up as much of my hair as I could on the sides and the back of my neck to keep them from the spirit gum, and dabbed it along all of the prominent edges of the wig (namely, side and back) wait for it to get a little tacky and stick that MF-er down good. 

Aaaaand Voila??? 

Let me know if I missed any steps? Its fairly simple, once you get going -- just time consuming.
