Beachside Boundaries
Lando Norris x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sun was blazing, the waves crashing gently onto the shore as you settled into your spot on the beach. It was the perfect day for relaxation—a break from the hustle and chaos of the F1 season. You were with Lando and a group of friends on a private stretch of beach, enjoying some well-earned downtime.
You smoothed down your bikini, a vibrant blue two-piece you’d been saving for a day like this. It fit perfectly and brought out the color of your eyes, which Lando had already complimented earlier in the day. As you made your way toward the shoreline to dip your toes in the water, you heard laughter behind you.
“Y/N, you’re turning heads today,” one of the guys in your group called out teasingly. You glanced back and grinned, brushing it off as lighthearted fun.
But when your eyes met Lando’s, his usual playful demeanor was replaced by something else—his brows furrowed slightly, his jaw tense. He was watching you intently from his spot under the beach umbrella, his hand gripping the armrest of his chair.
You shrugged it off at first, thinking he was just tired. But as the day went on, his mood seemed to sour more and more. By the time you walked back up from the water, drying your hair with a towel, he was already on his feet.
“Hey, can we talk for a second?” he asked, his voice calm but tinged with tension.
You raised an eyebrow, confused. “Sure. What’s up?”
He gestured for you to follow him a few steps away from the group. Once you were alone, he crossed his arms over his chest, avoiding your eyes for a moment before speaking.
“Do you have to wear that bikini?”
Your jaw dropped slightly. “Excuse me? What’s wrong with my bikini?”
“It’s… nothing’s wrong with it,” he said quickly, running a hand through his hair. “You look amazing, Y/N. You always do. But…” He trailed off, glancing back toward the group. “You’ve seen the way they’re looking at you.”
You tilted your head, trying to process his words. “Lando, are you seriously upset because people are looking at me?”
He sighed, his hands dropping to his sides. “I’m not upset, I’m just… I don’t like it. You’re mine, Y/N, and I hate the idea of anyone else thinking they can…” He gestured vaguely, unable to find the right words.
“Lando,” you said softly, stepping closer to him. “I’m yours. You don’t have to worry about anyone else. I only care about what you think.”
His shoulders relaxed slightly, but he still looked unconvinced. “I know that, but it’s hard not to feel protective. You’re gorgeous, and I can’t stand the idea of someone else staring at you like that.”
You placed your hands on his chest, looking up at him with a reassuring smile. “You don’t need to be jealous, Lando. I love you, and nothing’s going to change that. Besides, it’s just a bikini. It doesn’t mean anything more than me enjoying the sunshine.”
He let out a small laugh, finally meeting your eyes. “You’re right. I’m being ridiculous, aren’t I?”
“A little,” you teased, standing on your toes to kiss his cheek. “But I kind of like it when you’re protective. Just don’t go overboard, okay?”
He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you close. “I’ll try. But if anyone gets too close, I’m not above reminding them you’re taken.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “Fair enough. Now, come back to the group and stop sulking. We’re supposed to be having fun.”
With a sheepish grin, Lando followed you back to the beach chairs. His jealousy might have been a bit over the top, but you knew it came from a place of love. And in the end, that was all that mattered.

he has no grounds whatsoever. he's tried to create grounds by getting the board to create a new ordinance, and then got mad when the ordinance didn't functionally ban food trucks. the core of his argument is "it's not fair when i have to pay property tax and the other guy doesn't", and also "the town should support local businesses that support them with tax dollars and create jobs". he thought purchasing the property outright was going to save him money, but it turns out you still have to pay taxes and keeping a restaurant property up to code is fucking expensive and he's clearly bitter about it.
he vastly overestimates local government's control over property taxes and how much they get. our local government gets a tiny percentage of property tax. they get all of the food truck permit fee. it shakes out to basically the same amount, but for a building they have to provide actual services and infrastructure. all a truck needs is parking, which is provided by the other local businesses that pay property tax and want a taco truck there. this may be less true in other areas, such as cities that impose their own taxes on local businesses or have any traffic whatsoever, but here it's a nonfactor. it's unclear why he thinks anyone buys that he's a job creator when his only employee is his teenage daughter that is the only one behind the counter making any food every time i've gone in.
some companies who lease out retail spaces will have agreements that they will only lease to one sandwich place, one taco place, one smoke shop, etc etc. this is called an exclusive use clause and is not relevant here (and is also the source of the question of whether a hot dog is a sandwich, iirc). literally no amount of offering the same food will change anything. he is next door to a pizza place that sells subs significantly more popular than his. he's just pissy because he thought he'd bought a turnkey business and instead he bought a restaurant. which is expensive. and failing.
i mean, realistically, he's blaming food trucks because they're the only thing that's new since he bought the sub shop and fucked it up. it was never good, it was always at about the tier of a food stall at a minigolf place, but they had a limited menu and closed in winter and that kept expenses low enough to thrive on cheap deli cold cuts and soft serve. he looked at that and thought 'oh these guys lack ambition, i can do better than that' and immediately jacked up the prices and added a bunch of premade frozen shit to the menu that his daughter consistently leaves in the fryer too long. whenever it comes up in conversation, all anyone talks about is how the subs are all bread. the only way to get a decent ratio is to order the sandwich with the most different varieties of meat. he can't bring himself to blame the pizza place because the old owners never had a problem with them. the food trucks are the only scapegoat he has left to pretend he's not the problem.
lately a taco truck has been parking near the dollar store with the best tacos i've had outside of LA. this works out really great for everyone with taste but the guy with the lunch sub place has been getting really mad about it and won't stop filing complaints even though the truck has all its permits in order and has permission by the property owners to park there (because they also want good tacos). he keeps insisting the truck is stealing his business but local officials keep reminding him that he doesn't sell tacos and the truck doesn't sell subs. finally the sub guy posted his revised 2025 menu on facebook and it now includes a 'taco sub' which is just pre-seasoned ground beef on a sub bun with american cheese.

Dumbledore is a little full of himself
Like, I read Tales of Beedle the Bard, and I was struck by how Dumbledore comments on his own cleverness and knowledge in his notes incredibly often:
This prejudice eventually died out in the face of overwhelming evidence that some of the world’s most brilliant wizards(3) were, to use the common phrase, “Muggle-lovers”. [...] 3 Such as myself.
(Albus Dumbledore on “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot”)
I think I may say, without vanity, that both my Fountain and my Hill performed the parts allotted to them with simple goodwill. Alas, that the same could not be said of the rest of the cast.
(Albus Dumbledore on “The Fountain of Fair Fortune”)
Even I, Albus Dumbledore, would find it easiest to refuse the Invisibility Cloak; which only goes to show that, clever as I am, I remain just as big a fool as anyone else.
(Albus Dumbledore on “The Tale of the Three Brothers”)
The guy can hardly talk about anything without talking about how smart and wise and brilliant he is. Like, no humility whatsoever.
In the books, everyone keeps singing his praises like Dumbledore can do no wrong and the only one who keeps saying Dumbledore can be wrong is Harry. And even then, in Harry's limbo vision of King's Cross, which I don't think is really Dumbledore, it's telling Harry envisions him saying something like this:
“And you knew this? You knew — all along?” “I guessed. But my guesses have usually been good,” said Dumbledore happily
(DH, Ch35)
Dumbledore doesn't speak to Harry all that often throughout the series, with book 6 being the one he interacts with him the most. And we see that even in conversations with people, Dumbledore loves to hear how wise and great he is. When he says "I might be mistaken" it's with the tone of "I'm right and everyone else is wrong". Which is usually the case often enough, yes (though not always), but he does it a lot, and I found it interesting how often he uses this phrasing and how smug he seems about it:
And then Dumbledore called out from the back row where he stood with the other teachers — “Aha! Unless I am very much mistaken, the delegation from Beauxbatons approaches!” (GOF)
“I may be wrong,” said Dumbledore pleasantly, “but I am sure that under the Wizengamot Charter of Rights, the accused has the right to present witnesses for his or her case? Isn’t that the policy of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Madam Bones?” he continued, addressing the witch in the monocle. (OotP)
“Payment?” said Harry. “You’ve got to give the door something?” “Yes,” said Dumbledore. “Blood, if I am not much mistaken.” (HBP)
Dumbledore uses this phrasing when he knows what he is saying is correct. He is saying it not because he thinks he might actually be wrong. When he actually thinks he is wrong, he makes excuses and tries to reason why the decision he made was actually reasonable at the time:
“Harry, I owe you an explanation,” said Dumbledore. “An explanation of an old man’s mistakes. For I see now that what I have done, and not done, with regard to you, bears all the hallmarks of the failings of age. Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young ... and I seem to have forgotten lately...”
(OotP)
He is incapable of saying: "I was wrong, it happens, let's move on," it has to come with reasoning or an excuse. He blames it on his age, not that he made a wrong judgment call. This isn't humbleness.
Dumbledore is a character who wants to be humble but just isn't. he considers modesty a virtue. Hell, humility is practically his favorite trait Harry possess:
Harry, who could not see any way out of this without flatly lying, nodded but still said nothing. Slughorn beamed at him. “So modest, so modest, no wonder Dumbledore is so fond — you were there, then?
(HBP) - Slughorn mentions how Dumbledore appreciates modesty.
The third brother in the story (“the humblest and also the wisest”) is the only one who understands that, having narrowly escaped Death once, the best he can hope for is to postpone their next meeting for as long as possible.
(Albus Dumbledore on “The Tale of the Three Brothers”)
He appreciates being humble and modest and sees it as being wise. He derides Tom for thinking of himself as "special" or "clever" even when it's true (and when he does the same). He loves Harry's modesty, which is really low self-esteem, not modesty. Harry's low self-worth is like the ultimate humbleness in Dumbledore's eyes because he doesn't see it for what it is and he was never humble in his life, so he doesn't really know where the balance between confidence and arrogance is or the line between modesty and low self-worth. I think he honestly doesn't know because he is exceptionally arrogant.
Dumbledore created this image of ineffability around him and it's clear Harry is one of the only people (besides Dumbledore and Aberforth) who knows Dumbledore can make a mistake and he keeps reminding Hermione, Lupin, and literally everyone else of that fact:
“People have said it, many times. It comes down to whether or not you trust Dumbledore’s judgment. I do; therefore, I trust Severus.” “But Dumbledore can make mistakes,” argued Harry. “He says it himself. And you” — he looked Lupin straight in the eye — “do you honestly like Snape?”
(HBP)
This is all another case of Dumbledore being incapable of practicing what he preaches. He values modesty, but he doesn't seem to be capable of it.
Now, I'm not saying he isn't clever or special, he is. But he is the type of really smart person who looks down on anyone they don't see as intelligent as them. He doesn't see most people as equal to him.
Dumbledore doesn't see most of the Order or Aberforth as his equals. He never did. Elphias Doge kisses his ass, but Dumbledore clearly doesn't share the same level of respect for him. Or for most people, really.
“Elphias Doge mentioned her to us,” said Harry, trying to spare Hermione. “That old berk,” muttered Aberforth, taking another swig of mead. “Thought the sun shone out of my brother’s every office, he did. Well, so did plenty of people, you three included, by the looks of it.” Harry kept quiet. He did not want to express the doubts and uncertainties about Dumbledore that had riddled him for months now. [...] “Grindelwald. And at last, my brother had an equal to talk to someone just as bright and talented as he was. And looking after Ariana took a backseat then, while they were hatching all their plans for a new Wizarding order and looking for Hallows, and whatever else it was they were so interested in.
(DH)
Dumbledore doesn't trust the majority of the Order with anything because he doesn't think they'd be capable of handling it because they're not him. He literally tells them nothing until he has to, keeping them busy guarding a prophecy he knows can't be stolen by a run-of-the-mill Death Eater. He only tells Harry about the Horcruxes because he has no choice but to tell him. Same with Snape — Dumbledore trusts him out of necessity.
Snape and Grindelwald are the only people we see Dumbledore show respect towards their abilities, wisdom, and magic in some capacity.
Like, he calls Sirius clever, but he talks about him as foolish in the same breath. He calls McGonagall wise, but he clearly doesn't think she's wise enough to be told anything or trusted with anything. And while he does speak highly of Harry's courage and humility and though Harry is insanely powerful and with the right training could beat Dumbledore, Dumbledore keeps putting him down when it comes to magical abilities/intelligence compared to himself:
“I’m not upset.” “Harry, you were never a good Occlumens — ”
(HBP) - even though Harry can and does get really good at it once he does it his way.
“I do not think you will count, Harry: You are underage and unqualified. Voldemort would never have expected a sixteen-year-old to reach this place: I think it unlikely that your powers will register compared to mine.”
(HBP)
I find this tendency of Dumbledore to be really interesting. He underestimates people constantly and thinks too highly of himself. and he is very honest about it to people's faces. He keeps talking about how Voldemort’s defenses on his Horcruxes are shit, and how Voldemort is foolish when the curse Voldemort left on the ring is literally killing him at that very moment:
“I do not think you will count, Harry: You are underage and unqualified. Voldemort would never have expected a sixteen-year-old to reach this place: I think it unlikely that your powers will register compared to mine.” These words did nothing to raise Harry’s morale; perhaps Dumbledore knew it, for he added, “Voldemort’s mistake, Harry, Voldemort’s mistake ... Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth. ... Now, you first this time, and be careful not to touch the water.”
(HBP)
Dumbledore thinking himself so clever, more clever than Voldemort, is what killed him. His arrogant insistence that he's the smartest man in the room killed him. He is undermining Voldemort for mistakes similar to the ones he makes regularly when interacting with Harry. And he's aware of that. He knows he's a hypocrite:
When I discovered it, after all those years, buried in the abandoned home of the Gaunts—the Hallow I had craved most of all, though in my youth I had wanted it for very different reasons—I lost my head, Harry. I quite forgot that it was now a Horcrux, that the ring was sure to carry a curse. I picked it up, and I put it on, and for a second I imagined that I was about to see Ariana, and my mother, and my father, and to tell them how very, very sorry I was . . . “I was such a fool, Harry. After all those years I had learned nothing. I was unworthy to unite the Deadly Hallows. I had proved it time and again, and here was the final proof.”
(DH) - Dumbledore's portrait
I think Dumbledore's self-awareness is why he wants to like Harry as much as he does. While I don't think Dumbledore knows Harry as well as he thinks he does, what Dumbledore does see is enough for him to imagine Harry in his head as this perfect, virtuous martyr that he wished all his life to portray himself as. He idealizes who he imagines Harry is without fully respecting Harry as his own person with his own abilities.
I just find it interesting that for a character who speaks so highly of humility, he doesn't seem to possess it, and that it ends up being the death of him.

"Yeah, I'm just a little nervous about you being behind the wheel, Eddie," Robin said.
"Oh, I'm not going to drive her. I'm just starting this baby up," Eddie grinned. "Harrington's got her, don't ya, big boy?"
Eddie was already so close to him, his lips near his cheek. Steve frowned. God. Was Eddie flirting with him? This didn't seem very fair. Eddie gets accused of murder, gets thrown into all of this, and now Steve has to reject him because he didn't like boys. Although, he appreciated the attention and the way he had slammed him up against the wall. . .It also wasn't hard to notice the way Eddie looked at him when he took his shirt off. Poor guy. Steve turned his head and was about to open his mouth when Robin moved. She tripped, falling onto Steve’s back. In the process, it caused Steve to fall into Eddie, their lips bumping against each other's.
"Oh, shit, I'm so sorry!" Robin gasped.
"I guess I can cross that off my bucket list," Eddie said with a grin and winked at Steve.
Before anyone could say anything else, the owners of the RV tried to get in. Steve did it without thinking. They needed to switch spots and quickly, too. Steve patted him on his backside to get him out and rushed to replace him. He took off. The entire way to the War Zone, all Steve could think about was kissing Eddie. . .his hand brushing up against his backside just then. . .the hand pressed against the small of his back when they were walking in the Upside Down. . .the way he liked it when Eddie leaned in. He still tried to process it all when they got to the War Zone and even after in the clearing when he was making molotov cocktails with Robin.
"Hey. . .Robin, do you think maybe you can push me into Eddie again later?" Steve asked.
"What? Why?" Robin asked in disbelief.
"I need to test a theory," Steve said, his chest growing warm at the sight of Eddie with Dustin.
"What's the theory?" She asked.
"I like a boy," Steve said as he continued to gaze at Eddie.
"Oh my god!" Robin exclaimed as she nearly dropped the molotov. "You like Eddie!"
Robin slapped a hand over her mouth, her eyes wide. Steve grinned. He couldn't help it. . .her expression was so comical. He couldn't be mad at her. Judging by the way everyone's head had snapped in their direction, they heard Robin.
"I told you! I knew you would like him!" Dustin shrieked. "Didn't I say that Steve would like him, Lucas?"
"Yeah, man," Lucas said in amusement. "You called it."
Steve smiled and shook his head. Once again, Dustin was missing an important part of what had just happened.
"I just don't know why Robin was so surprised," Dustin said.
"I like you, too, big boy!" Eddie yelled, winking at him again, and Steve blushed.
Robin leaned closer to Steve, smirking as she lowered her voice.
"Theory proven. Steve Harrington likes a boy," Robin said.
"It seems like the worst possible time to realize this," Steve said.
"If not now, then when?" She asked, and then she squealed as she leaned against him. "Neither one of us is straight! This is great! Ooh, I rhymed."
"Settle down, Buckley," Steve said, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
"You should do something about it," Robin whispered.
"I don't know," Steve said, glancing at Nancy. "There's still something there, too."
"We live on a gate to hell, Steve," Robin said. "I think it's okay to like both of them. Anything is possible."
"I think I'm going inside for a bit," Steve said.
"Okay, well, I'm here if you want to talk some more or freak out about it," Robin said.
Steve smiled at her, grateful to her before heading into the RV. He closed the door and sighed. It was all such a great distraction, but it was only momentarily. The pain was very much there. Steve shrugged out of his new jacket and camouflage shirt. He didn't have any time to change his bandages at the War Zone. He had to figure out how to change the bandages, but how could he possibly get the ones on his back and arms? Steve grabbed the first aid kid and started peeling Nancy's piece of torn shirt off of his stomach. Steve cried out in pain and wept harder at the wounds in his stomach. His flesh had been torn away and devoured. . .He could feel the road rash on his back and arms. It felt as though he had been kissed by fire. He tried to keep it all together, tried not to let anyone know how much pain he was in. . .the mission was too important. Steve collapsed on the floor and fell onto his knees. He tried to focus on what he was feeling emotionally. . .Eddie or Nancy? The door to the RV opened, and he jerked at the sound of their voices. . .Jesus, did they hear what he was thinking?
"Steve!" Eddie and Nancy yelled.
The door closed behind them as they rushed to his side.
"I was just trying to change my bandages," Steve groaned.
They quickly helped sit him up, and Nancy immediately started unraveling the bandages.
"Shit, these need to be cleaned," Eddie cursed.
"Oh, Steve, why didn't you tell us you were in this much pain?" Nancy asked.
"I didn't want to be a distraction," Steve said.
"You had no problem being a distraction when you ripped off your sweater, flashing Nancy and I your tits," Eddie grinned, and Nancy giggled.
"You know what I mean, asshole," Steve laughed. "I just - ,"
"You're not a burden. We know about this. You're important, and not just to the mission," Nancy said softly. "To all of us."
Steve smiled at her. Nancy and Eddie went to work cleaning his wounds.
"I'm just wondering how you expected to get the ones on your back? You would have had to twist yourself like a pretzel," Eddie said. "Mm, pretzels."
"Hey, I've got moves," Steve protested.
"He's a ninja," Nancy teased.
"Sounds like an inside joke," Eddie said.
"The first time he snuck into my room, he landed awkwardly, got up, and proudly declared himself a ninja," Nancy said.
"Sounds adorable," Eddie grinned, flashing his dimples as he looked softly at Steve.
"It really was," Nancy said fondly.
"So, letting me in on this, and letting me feel you up - ," Eddie said.
"You're bandaging my wounds," Steve said.
"Do I or do I not have my hands all over you?" Eddie asked.
"Well, then I guess that means Nancy's feeling me up," Steve said.
"I'm not going to lie, Steve," Nancy said seriously, and Eddie laughed.
"I guess that means we're friends now," Eddie said.
"No," Steve said quickly, and Eddie frowned. "I mean, yes. . .I like you, Eddie."
"I like you, too. What's the problem?" He asked.
"No, I like you," Steve said.
"Okay. . .you said like differently that time. What are you trying to imply here?" Eddie asked.
"I like-like you, Eddie," he said.
"Okay, so you really like me," he said. "So, why can't we be friends?"
"I'm romantically and sexually attracted to you," Steve replied with a loud sigh.
"What! But Nancy - ," Eddie said with wide eyes. "I thought - ,"
"Oh, no, I'm still very much in love with her," Steve said. "So, yeah, all very confusing. . .although, I guess not, really. I definitely have a type. . .nerds with big hair and big eyes that make you fall for them."
Nancy laughed.
"Now that I'm thinking about it, I definitely think you were crushing on Tom Cruise just as much as I was," Nancy said.
"Shit, I think you're right. I've never been straight," Steve said, laughing.
"What? Did you think I turned you queer?" Eddie asked.
"Like magic," Steve said with a goofy grin.
Eddie and Nancy laughed as they finished wrapping up Steve. They helped him up off the floor before helping him back into his shirt and jacket.
"You're good to go, bug boy," Eddie said, his hand caressing Steve’s collar. "I mean, big boy - fuck, I meant, well, you know what I meant."
"I just want you to know that you don't have to do anything about this or feel like you have to. . .I just thought I should be honest. I was just completely honest with myself, and I wanted to do the same with you guys," Steve said. "You both have inspired me to be myself and realize what's important. Eddie, more recently, and Nancy, well, back then, she gave me the bump on the head that I needed to see what it truly means to be a friend. I mean, I know that I'm slow, but I learn. . .according to my mother, I used to crawl backwards, I went so far backward that I ended up falling down the stairs. Eventually, I do move forward. So, I'll be okay."
Eddie smiled sweetly at him, playing with the collar of Steve’s jacket. Nancy placed a hand on Steve’s arm, also smiling at him.
"So, in that dream of yours. . .," Nancy said.
"With his six little chicken nuggets," Eddie said in amusement.
"Were you serious about that?" Nancy asked.
"I meant every word," Steve said to Nancy. "Left out an important part, though. . .the most important part. . .you were there. . .you've always been there."
Eddie wrapped an arm around Steve’s shoulder, leaning in close to him.
"I know that we've just started getting to know each other. . .," Eddie trailed off.
"There's room in the RV. . .hm, I could use some convincing, though," Steve smirked.
Eddie leaned forward and kissed him. Steve smiled against his lips as he returned the kiss, placing his hand against the small of Eddie's back. Eddie ran his tongue over the bottom of Steve’s lip, and Steve opened his mouth with a gasp, letting Eddie slip his tongue inside. Suddenly, Eddie pulled back.
"That's what you meant by convincing you. . .right?" Eddie asked and Steve laughed.
"Yeah, Eddie, that's what I meant," Steve said.
"I think I'm definitely going to need some convincing," Nancy said, her cheeks red.
"You are?" Eddie asked.
"Well, Steve wanted me in the RV first," Nancy smirked.
"Trying to make this into a competition, Wheeler?" Eddie asked.
"What if I am, Munson?" Nancy asked as she stared directly into his eyes.
Eddie grinned and pulled her flush against him. They each kept a hand on Steve while they held onto each other. Eddie pressed his lips to Nancy's, smirking into the kiss. Steve felt the warmth inside his stomach grow stronger at the sight of them. He should have been jealous, but there was no jealousy here, only longing for the both of them. Their hands clutched each of his shoulders tightly as Nancy deepened the kiss. Nancy and Eddie's hands slid into the hair at the nape of Steve’s neck. Steve moaned softly as he felt them gently tug at it. Eddie pulled away with a gasp.
"Is that enough to convince you, or do you need more?" Eddie asked.
"I think we've both been convinced," Nancy laughed as she looked at Steve's face. "Haven't we?"
"Yeah, definitely," Steve said.
Nancy touched Steve’s face gently and kissed him. It was sweet and soft until Nancy pressed her lips further against his, eager to taste him again. God, how he missed her lips and the way she gently touched his face. He wanted to keep kissing her, but his head was starting to spin. He broke the kiss.
"What's wrong?" Nancy asked.
"I feel a little dizzy," Steve said. "I think I need to sit down."
Nancy and Eddie guided him to the couch. Steve couldn't remember the last time he had eaten, so Eddie quickly found a can of Spaghetti-os and a bottle of water. It wasn't the best, but it made Steve feel better. Yeah, it wasn't a good idea to forget to eat after losing all that blood, Steve thought as he scooped food into his mouth.
"You feeling better?" Nancy asked after he finished and set the empty can aside.
"Definitely," Steve said.
"I should have gotten you some food. . .I didn't think about the blood loss," Nancy frowned.
"Hey, I didn't think about it either," Steve said. "Don't beat yourself up."
"Honestly, I thought you were getting dizzy because of us, and I felt cocky for a moment," Eddie smirked.
"Hm, well, maybe a little," Steve grinned.
Nancy ran her fingers through Steve’s hair, looking at him fondly.
"I almost lost you," Nancy said.
"Eddie said that you didn't hesitate at all to jump in after me," Steve said. "Said it was. . .an unambiguous sign of true love."
"Well, he was right about that," Nancy said with a smile as she continued to stroke his hair. "I couldn't lose you. I spent a lot of time letting other people get in my head. . .as much as I try to tell myself that I don't care what others think, I do. I spent a lot of time letting those voices convince me that I was going to end up in a nuclear loveless family. I was so afraid of that happening. . .that I let it happen. Our relationship was wonderful, and I loved every minute of it. . .the one thing that got in my way was myself and the fact that those assholes got away with killing Barb. When you got yanked underneath the water, when the bats came after, I just couldn't you go. . .I realized that it was always you, Steve. So, yeah, I love you."
"I love you, too," Steve said.
Nancy leaned forward and kissed him, tucking a hair behind his ear. She broke the kiss and leaned her forehead against Steve’s.
"I am not quite there yet," Eddie said, grinning. "But I feel a great deal of affection for the both of you."
"There's no pressure, Eddie," Steve laughed.
"You know, I kind of like that you both are further along in this relationship than I am. It's almost like you two are the dungeon masters and I'm the player. . .," Eddie frowned. "I think I just turned myself on."
"I wouldn't even know how to be a dungeon master," Steve said.
"I'll show you," Nancy grinned. "It's not that different from leading a basketball team."
"You take that back, Wheeler," Eddie gasped.
"No!" Nancy laughed.
Eddie leaned back and crossed his arms, fake pouting. Steve and Nancy stared at him, watching the sun begin to sink down. . .a reminder for all of them that their mission to take down Vecna would soon begin. Eddie's face turned serious.
"You might be onto something. . .I kind of wish that I had gone to the game. Wish I had been more accommodating to Lucas, let him know that he wasn't turning to the dark side. . .it was a shitty thing to do. I think I was so afraid of forced conformity that I ended up feeling like Lucas had to choose one or the other when he didn't have to. As the leader of Hellfire, I was responsible for giving those kids a safe place for them to share their interests even if they didn't align with mine," Eddie said.
"Yeah, I think we were both afraid of forced conformity," Nancy said as she twirled a lock of Steve’s hair between her fingers.
"Hey, man, Lucas knows you didn't intend to be an asshole about it," Steve said. "He knows how protective you are of the game. As much as I tried to talk about it with him, Lucas just wanted the bullying to stop, and he still wanted to hang on to the game. You just don't know how much harder it is for him."
"Yeah," Eddie winced. "Jeff pointed that out as a possibility when I was complaining about it."
"He sees what kind of person Jason is now, though," Steve said. "And he also knows that he was wrong, too. . .which I think is something that you two really need to talk about."
"Yeah," Eddie agreed.
Steve could feel Nancy's eyes on both of them.
"Boys," she sighed happily.
"Aren't you glad Robin pushed me into Eddie's lips?" Steve asked.
"What?" She laughed.
"You didn't see that earlier? Eddie was getting the RV started up, and Robin tripped, causing my lips to meet with Eddie's," Steve said.
"Is that what made you realize you liked me?" Eddie asked, laughing.
"Yeah, I totally wanted to kiss you again," Steve said. "What made you realize that you liked me?"
"When you ripped off your shirt like a fucking stripper," Eddie said rolling his eyes. "You know you look good, asshole. It was the wrong fucking time to have a sexuality crisis and you gave it to me. Between you and Nancy. . .watching her swing that oar around like a sword. . .yeah, I definitely still liked women. So, thank you, you guys gave me a lot to panic about."
"You're welcome," Nancy and Steve said in amusement.
"The moment I realized I liked both of you, actually isn't that much different," Nancy said in amusement. "I both caught you with romance novels. . .of course, it was a long time ago with Steve and earlier this year with Eddie."
"Really?!" They asked, and they looked at each other. "You?!"
"I don't know why you're so surprised," Steve scoffed, raising an eyebrow at Eddie. "You heard about my dream. . .of course, I'm a romantic. I don't know why I'm surprised about you. . .cynical, my ass, of course you're a romantic. . .unambiguous sign of true love."
"I am never going to live that down," Eddie groaned and threw up his hands. "Okay! Jesus H Christ, I love love!"
"I think it's sweet," Nancy smiled. "Now, more than ever, we need to believe in love. Whether it's familial, romantic, or strictly platonic."
"Like me and Robin," Steve said with a goofy grin. "Platonic with a - "
" - capital p!" Nancy and Eddie exclaimed.
"Yes, we know," Nancy said. "It's strictly platonic with me and Robin, too. I definitely love her."
"Oh me, too!" Eddie exclaimed.
"Yeah, she's great," Steve grinned and then frowned. "But there's no one like me and Robin. . .I found her first."
"Of course," Nancy giggled.
Steve leaned back against the couch, smiling at the both of them. Eddie and Nancy were talking over him now, their hands over his knees. They were discussing the things to come, Vecna, and what had already happened. Steve listened to them both as Eddie talked about his guilt over Chrissy's death, his feelings, while Nancy did the same about her own guilt over Barb's death and how she had felt about Barb. Steve placed a hand over Nancy's and Eddie's back. They leaned into his touch, letting him know that they appreciated his silent reassurance. Whatever happened, they were going to get through it together.

You originally thought that sleep would be hard to come by, however, you were proven wrong when you woke up the next morning. Your body feeling better than yesterday thanks to the medicine that Luocha gave you. Sitting up in bed, you looked around your room, and then to your bedroom door. Your room, as far as you knew was your only safe haven and a place you could hopefully let your guard down. Though, you still worried… what if someone was in here right now hiding? You closed your eyes and tried to listen carefully, but you couldn’t pinpoint anything.
Moze has definitely left an impression on you…
Shaking your head after a few moments, you finally got out of bed. There was a dull ache in your legs and back, but it was bearable thankfully.
Now, Jing Yuan said my maids will help me today, but… ever since coming here no maid has ever made such an effort. Maybe once or twice, but that was about it. Probably because they don’t like me all that much.
You sighed at your thoughts and went for your wardrobe. Opening the closest doors, your eyes roamed over your dresses. Wait… are there more in here than before? You decided not to question it as you went for a dress that just so happened to be your favorite color. If Jing Yuan asks about it, then you could just say that he had said that it was your favorite color and that you could understand why you liked it so much now that you see it in person. Now, putting the dress on proved to be a hassle but you managed… somehow.
“Ok… so now what?”
You looked to your bedroom door again. Do you even risk it? Then again, it definitely beats staying in here all day.
So, gathering nay courage that you had, you went to your door.
“Ok, so I’m a princess with amnesia, and I’m to be married to the Emperor. In other words, I should act like I own the place, right?”
Steeling yourself, you opened the door and stepped out of your bedroom. Looking left and then right, you decided to head right. (You knew that the kitchen and dining room were that way, but you would just tell anyone that asks that you took a guess on which way to go.)
Walking down the halls, you noticed how some of the maids avoided you, not that you minded. You didn’t particularly want to talk to them either. It wasn’t until you passed by the stairs that you fell down that you stopped.
Thinking about it now, this means you fell down these stairs twice, right?
I hope I don’t make it three…
“y/n.”
You jumped a little and spun on your heel to look at who had spoken to you, but the voice was distinct. You already knew who it was.
“Yuan?”
The Emperor was smiling at you, “I’m surprised that you’re already out of bed,” he said as he came to stand next to you his eyes shifting from you to the stair case.
“Well, I know you said my maids will assist me, but no one ever came to check up on me, and…,” you shifted from foot to foot, “since I’m to marry you…. I thought I was allowed to walk around. Did I- did I mess up?”
Jing Yuan chuckled softly as he held out his arm for you. Taking a moment to realize what he was doing, you hesitantly wrapped your hands around his arm. One hand on his bicep and the other on his forearm. Once you gotten a hold on him, he started to go towards the stairs and with a shaky step from you, you both began to descend the stairs.
“You’re allowed to go anywhere your heart desires within my domain. Though, I do ask that you be escorted.”
You wondered if he could feel your fingers tremble against his arm. His arm, to which you noticed was lined with taught muscle. Focus, y/n, focus!
“I- I’m sorry, no one was by my door either…”
“I know, Blade, your bodyguard, was taking care of some business for me. He’ll be by your side again after breakfast.”
“Then is that why you were coming down the hall? To come get me?”
You saw a glint in his eyes as he smiled at you.
Once down the stairs, you went to let go of his arm, but he raised his other hand to keep your hands where they were. You looked back at the steps.
“Was this the staircase I fell down?”
Jing Yuan looked to where your eyes were watching, “yes, it was. Do you remember anything?”
You shook your head, “I just.. have a feeling is all,” you looked back up at Jing Yuan as he turned his gaze back to your face, “how about the one who pushed me… I heard it was.. a maid?”
“Yes,” you could hear the sigh in his voice, “a maid, but I wouldn’t worry about her. She has been properly dealt with.”
You couldn’t stop the shiver that ran down your spine. While you were sleeping in bed… some maid was getting killed.
“But why not give her a punishment instead?”
Jing Yuan hummed thoughtfully as he dropped his arm causing you to let go of his bicep and forearm.
And all too quickly he was in front of you, his hands cupping your cheeks as his thumbs pressed right under your jaw and tilting your head up. You could feel the way your breath hitched and how your heart seemed to skip every other beat.
“Because little sparrow, I truly despise when someone damages what belongs to me.”
He let one hand fall from your cheek to rest against your throat. His fingers encircled your throat with careful precision as he leant down and pressed a gentle kiss to your lips that contrasted with the way he held you in place. And all too soon his hands didn’t feel to domineering or suffocating as he moved them to slide down your arms and to your hips. His lips slowly detach from you as you silently caught your breath.
“Now, princess, let’s go eat breakfast. I was sure to tell the chefs to cook your favorites.”
He was going to kill you again; you were sure of it.

Gosh thank you so much! 💓
He absolutely is and love him or hate him he deserves much more credit in my opinion than just talking about his sex life all the time because boy oh boy this guy has so much going on in his head that the more I analyze him the more I delve into this complex psychology of, in the end of the day, young man who died away from home, buried away from home for a war that was not his to fight and for the sakes of honor that is imposed upon him
Sure he did many things. He performed many atrocities sure. But just like a kid that is a bully at school one can look at his life and realize he was from abusive household. Does that cancel the bad action of bulling? Hell no but one can still sympathize with one's situation and I think Achilles is a good example of that. And yes it is interesting if you look at it spherical right? We see a man that drags a corpse from his chariot. Terrible disrespectful and undoubtedly criminal. Do we see it from the option of madness of a person who was taken down by grief when THE ONLY PERSON he relied on completely is gone? Immediately we have a new horizon without canceling the act!
Oh he absolutely was and that is another thing. For this honor of his he was ready to do anything and yet the way he was introduced to war was brutal for anyone. He was ready to fight a war yes and yet we have so many cases that were so brutal like the case of Iphigenia and human sacrifice and of course the intrigues and such so Achilles was only slipping more and more!
So true "blood stained his fair hands" is so true and ironically that was the case with Neoptolemus too if we think on how Sophocles portrays him as young man and all and even Odysseus in Homer says how capable Neoptolemus was and all so yes indeed although I should say the only thing he ended up caring too little was his own life. For all others he just cares too much. He might have appeared uncaring for Greeks for a little while but it was also because he cared too much for his own honor for that and man then he was definitely blaming himself deep down!
Oh for sure one could speak on that for Neoptolemus. Although his problem was the absence of father rather than overprotective one (although I do think Achilles would do the opposite of his parents and same at the same time. He would think and care too much but he would strategically stop himself from holding his son as far as he can throw him) but for sure the essence of expectations definitely circled Neoptolemus who felt he had to be greater than his father and fill his big shoes and all so for sure we can talk on this concept in here and even if Neoptolemus had a longer chance in life but man he surely too died young and from consequences of his own actions as well and that was also an interesting piece of information for it. And the way he found his end over an altar as some sort of poetic justice
Absolutely I have no doubt Achilles cared deeply thus asking on his family on Odysseus if he had any information on them from his trips but yes his absence to war undoubtedly has marked Neoptolemus.
Achilles being who he is could be a subject of his upbringing (and how CONTEMPORARY his case seems if one thinks of it!) - an Analysis
Soooo I got an amazing ask today here and got inspired for some random thoughts here!
Has anyone noticed that Achilles's complicated psychology might as well be a result of his upbringing and how incredibly MODERN his case can be? Think about it;
He was prophesied he would die early. His family of course was concerned about it (how similar it is to children born with terminal illnesses nowadays indeed!)
His mother was already worried given how she was immortal and she was already worried her son was mortal much more when she found out he would be short-lived
His father cared enough to fight his goddess wife but also to send him to Chiron, the man who was known to train the best heroes in hope that his son would get the best education but also be prepared for every terrible situation in his life
His mother dressed him up as a woman and hid him among women so that he would live
His father promised his hair to a river god in hope that he would escape his ill fate (how similar to parents who want their child to go for treatment abroad even if they know it is hopeless!)
One can say Achilles is a child ill-fated, already people overly-indulge him because of his natural talents but also his ill fate. He got his life settled for him one way or another. Built skills as spherical as possible (arguably even for his mother's charade he learnt some female roles as well!), he had the best education as a golden child (from the art of war till music and all) and exceeded in all but also he had his family always worried of him. He even had a companion by his side at all occasions to make sure nothing would happen to him. Arguably his withdrawal to Chiron in nature also shielded Achilles to remain pure from the intrigues of palaces, from actual talks of violence and war WHILE being prepared for war just in case he would need to use it!
But also if one thinks of it...
Achilles was a child of divorced parents. Thetis abandoned the already bad for her marriage with Peleus. Peleus who attacked her with accusations that she would hurt her own child, for example in Argonautica, when he saw her hold the child over the flames to make him immortal. His family loved him;
And yet his parents abandoned him one way or another in his young mind!
His mother abandoned him in Phthia when she divorced his father
His father abandoned him to Chiron to get education
Abandonment pattern became apparent in Achilles's life! Both his parents loved him he knew that very well. Both parents wanted to protect him almost to a suffocating degree. They shielded him from violence and all that could potentially bring violence such as intrigues and plans but they also prepared him for the worst all his life while his father was telling him to always aim for being noble.
Achilles learnt by them to care and love to almost an unhealthy degree. He could see people who loved him abandoned him! He was trying his best to be the golden child, the honorable one. The one who would bring pride to his noble father and his goddess mother and his god ancestors. And yet he felt people who loved him unconditionally abandoned him! No wonder he clang to Patroclus. He was the only person that would stick around; he was following him. He was his family, his friend, his companion, his squire and his everything basically. His love for him was unconditional. Achilles also probably expected that Patroclus would never abandon him; he would die after him!
Achilles was introduced to violence way too soon, way too quickly and way too definitive!
He was sent to conflict very quickly
He saw first hand how blasphemy affects humans
He witnessed a human sacrifice (or the attempt of it depending on the source)
He saw intrigue arguably for the first time in his shielded life
He caused a lot of slaughter at a bloody war that wasn't even his business
He had his honor, the one he was fighting SO HARD to maintain for it would be the only thing left of him
And finally he lost that ONE PERSON he was sure he wouldn't leave him all alone! And he lost him because of HIS DECISION to send him in his place!
No wonder how he broke down eventually. His mind which was already at a limbo state because of the expectations he felt he was carrying on his shoulders in combination to the overly protective love he received from his parents. He simply collapsed!
He committed all the atrocities one could expect a person pure as him wouldn't commit;
He wished other people harm even if he had a personal grudge against one person
He refused the heroic ideal in order to go home
He fell into an absolute emotional collapse when he lost Patroclus clasping a dead body for DAYS (miasma) and wouldn't allow anyone to bury him (technically disrespect for the dead)
He went to blind rage and killed many for the name of his lost companion
Utterly disrespected the dead by dragging Hector's body around with the aim of absolutely destroying them
Barrage of human sacrifices before or even after his death
Possibly attempt of rape of Troilus and his killing over an altar
Achilles seems to have completely broken down to every single thing his family wanted to prevent him from! It was as if all the sins he was taught to avert were introduced to him all at once and that was catastrophic for his mind and eventually Patroclus's death was the final stroke for his already fragile psychology! I feel like these ancient writers knew what psychology was before psychology was a thing because man! One can get mind-blown every single time!
Next time someone says that these ancient poems are "out of date" or that they are "not connected to our reality" please think of stuff like this! I mean how can one get more contemporary than that!?
My other analysis on Achilles: Achilles and Patroclus relationship "Devil's advocate" reasons (under a post by @justvea18) On Achilles being on the edge On silence and Achilles's expression of emotion (inspired by @deadbaguette)

Part 4 - Steddie Angst
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
The only problem is, Eddie doesn’t know how to fix it. Moments where Steve is alone are few and far between, unless he shows up at Steve’s house unannounced. He doesn’t think he’ll be welcome there, if Steve would even answer the door. Which is fair, he wouldn’t talk to himself either if their roles were reversed.
If this skin crawling, stomach turning, palms sweating feeling is how love eats away at your insides, Eddie’s glad he spent the first twenty years of his life devoid of it. How do people live like this? He’s never really been a chick flick kind of guy, but he suddenly understands the plight of the main character that figures it out too late. The idiot that has to stand outside with a boombox and declare his love loudly because he made a mistake.
His chance comes as a happy accident. A New Years Eve party, one with everyone that survived the Upside Down that he reluctantly agreed to come to, and only because Dustin wouldn’t leave him alone until he showed up. Most of the night, Steve keeps that healthy distance from him, not altogether avoiding him, but never allowing himself to be caught at the punch bowl alone.
Steve’s walking around with Eddie’s heart in his hands, even if he doesn’t know it. His skin prickles with awareness when Steve’s near. Everyone has to know that something happened. They used to be inseparable, one mass on a couch, barely able to see where the other ended and began. Now? It’s like they’re two poles of a magnet, an invisible force pushing them to opposite sides of the room, circling each other in a twisted dance.
At some point, he loses sight of Steve, and he gets drawn into a conversation about music with Lucas and Jonathan. He’s on just the right side of loose, nursing a second beer and desperately in need of some fresh air, when people start to get antsy as midnight approaches.
He steps outside the cabin and the cold air melts away his anxiety. He closes his eyes, soaking up the outdoorsy stillness of the night, the only sound the quiet rustle of creatures in the forest’s depths, the echo of distant fireworks, and the ragged breath he inhales. He’s never really gotten accustomed to the packed house that happens when they’re all together, after so many years of just him and Wayne.
He jumps nearly a foot in the air when he hears Steve say, “Hey.”
When he turns towards the sound, he sees the silhouette of Steve with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. He’s curled up on the bench that sits directly below the window, backlit by the dull yellow light shining through the curtains, keeping most of his face hidden until Eddie’s eyes adjust to the dark.
“I didn’t think anyone was out here,” Eddie says, cautiously inching forward, not sure if he’ll spook Steve.
“It was getting a little overcrowded,” Steve shrugs, the blanket falling off one shoulder, but making no move otherwise. He looks so young like this, and they are young, Eddie knows that. But he also feels ancient after everything they’ve been through. He’s lived too much life for a twenty year old.
It’s a stark reminder that there’s no time to waste. This could be his one opportunity. A gift handed to him from the universe to start the year on a better foot. If Steve can forgive him and listen. Which is more than Eddie deserves.
Eddie slinks over and drops down into the empty space beside Steve, making sure to leave enough space between them, giving Steve an out. He doesn’t move. It’s foolish for that to give him hope, but it does. Steve’s admitted to being overwhelmed as much as Eddie was inside, but he’s not bolting for woods or yelling for Robin. There’s not even a fake smile plastered on his face. Just this quiet, contemplative look as he casts his gaze into the darkness beyond the cabin.
“S-steve,” Eddie starts. He clears his throat and tries again, “Steve, I was wrong.”
It takes a moment for Steve to turn his attention to Eddie, a sharp beat of time where he braces himself, swallowing thickly and shoulders hunching, before their gazes meet. An eternity must have gone by since the last time they made eye contact. Eddie isn’t prepared for the butterflies that take root in his stomach. The way it’s all clicked into place that Steve’s presence in his life is and always has been different.
“About what?” He asks quietly.
“Everything,” Eddie turns his whole body towards Steve. “For most of my life, I’ve never thought about anyone romantically. I didn’t have crushes, or flirtations, or summer flings. None of that mattered to me. Figured I’d leave Hawkins one day, find some chick to settle down with, and have kids like everyone else. Do what was expected of me. Or at least that I would end up an old man living alone in my trailer, like Wayne.”
“Wayne’s not alone, he has you.”
“Not by choice, though.” Eddie laughs wryly. “Doesn’t matter. I just had this idea in my head of what that would look like, but I never stopped to think about whether that was what I even wanted. It never occurred to me that maybe I was missing out on what everyone else was going through in high school, all the dates and prom nights.”
“Are you saying you’ve never had a crush on anyone?” Steve asks, disbelief in his tone. He pulls the blanket back up over his shoulder.
“Not for twenty years of my life. Not a single one.” He takes a deep breath and steadies himself. “Until now.”
“Eddie, I’m not-” Steve moves like he’s going to stand up, but Eddie reaches out and stops him with one hand on his arm over the blanket.
“Steve, please just let me explain.”

Flower of a Poisonous Seed Part 21
Part 20:
The only thing written on the whiteboard in the Demon Bull King's study was the word "flowers" in Nezha's handwriting.
The Demon Bull Family, Nezha, and Li Jing were trying to come up with what they'd do for Wukong's 7,000th birthday.
It wasn't as easy as they'd hoped.
For one thing, Wukong still hadn't fully recovered from surgery, and it was unclear as to whether or not he would recover in time for his birthday activities. Another thing to consider was that Wukong would still be sick even if he did manage to recover from the surgery in time.
And even then, they still weren't sure what Wukong would like to do for his birthday.
RS: Why can't we just ask him?
PIF: Because we're his family, and we ought to do something nice for him. He's been such a joy in each of our lives, and we ought to show him we care.
RS: But doesn't Uncle already know how much we care about him?
Nezha: This is Wukong we're talking about.
RS: Fair point. But what even are we going to do? "Flowers" isn't much to go off of.
Jing: Why can't we just throw a gala in his name and call it a day?
Nezha: Because, Father, Wukong gets far too anxious in crowds for us to even consider throwing any sort of party for him.
PIF: Poor baby, he got so nervous when my husband and I took him out to eat a few months back.
DBK: My brother wouldn't let go of my fur the whole time we were there. He could barely even speak up enough to order himself a salad, he was so nervous.
Nezha: Public outings are off the table, so is there anything else any of you can think of. I can only think of things we can do around the house, and Demon Bull King can't even fit inside my place. Wukong specifically requested that he be involved.
RS: My only ideas involve cake.
Jing: What kind of cake?
RS: Flower themed cake, obviously.
DBK: What kind of flowers?
RS: Um... the... regular kind?
PIF: We're going to have to do better than that for Wukong.
Nezha: Agreed. In the meantime, we can consider the flavor of the cake. What would be the point of the cake if not to eat it?
DBK: Yes, but what flavor?
Jing: Peach, of course.
Everyone else: NO!
Jing: Why not? He loves peaches!
Nezha: That was before his illness caused him to vomit whenever he consumed one. Citric acid doesn't sit well with him.
Jing: Oh. That's unfortunate.
RS: I once offered him a peach without knowing, and my poor uncle cried so hard.
Jing: Okay, so nothing peach related. Is there any fruit he can consume that he does like?
Nezha: Coconuts, apples, watermelon, raspberries, blueberries, any type of berry really...
RS: Did you memorize all his favorite foods?
Nezha: *smiles and shrugs* I love him very much, is all.
Jing: *raises eyebrow*
Nezha: Ugh, we're still just friends, Father. You can love someone platonically, you know.
RS: Raspberry cake sounds lovely!
DBK: And coconut shavings would make a good topping.
PIF: What about the frosting? What flavor should that be?
Nezha: Chocolate, maybe?
DBK: We may have to come back to that one.
~~~
Wukong wakes up in his recovery room to a certain dark-furred monkey sleeping with his head against his chest.
"I thought you were supposed to be monitoring me, silly."
Macaque had visited Wukong in the hospital soon after hearing about the surgery. Wukong never expected Macaque to be so worried about him.
It was during that time that they managed to catch up and come to be on better terms with each other.
Wukong being hospitalized gave them the opportunity to sit down and talk about subjects long overdue. Sorries, praises, and "I missed you"s were said by both monkeys.
They even talked about where to go from there.
"Caque, I don't want us to be an us again. I don't want to be an us with anyone for that matter. I'm done with that. I don't want to give myself away to anyone who isn't him. I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I get it. I... I just wish I appreciated you when I had you... and hadn't rejected you way back when. Maybe this *gestures to Wukong's bandages* wouldn't be happening if I didn't."
"Maybe it's a good thing you did."
~~~
PIF: MACAQUE!!!!!!!!!
Mac: *jolts awake* AAAAAAAAH!!!!! What??? What is it???!!!!
PIF: YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE MONITORING WUKONG!!!!!!!!!!
Mac: AAAAAAAAH!!!! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep!!!!
PIF: *raises fan to hit him*
Mac: *shadow teleports away*

aurghhh ok still rewatching '97 and the way guts and casca only have the room to breathe and really come to understand and care for each other in griffith's absence because he has such a strong hold over them both.... and the way their mutual dedication to him is what causes them to bicker for years (casca thinks he's not serving him well enough, guts thinks she doesn't get that he cares/how much he cares, casca's jealousy over griffith's feelings for guts, how he won his heart without even trying or being aware of it or doing anything with it) and is also a big part of what brings them together (earlier when guts deviates from the plan to save griffith and she commends him, in the cave casca opening up about griffith and her's past, showing that vulnerability, while it's mostly confrontational, leads to guts kinda getting her better, and his efforts to save and protect her (falling off the cliff with her, taking on the 100 men so she can escape, encouraging her to return to griffith so she can help him because it's what she feels she's meant to do (her dream, the direction in life guts shares and yet is questioning because of griffith's speech at the fountain, whether or not it's enough to serve him if it means he'll never be a true friend in griffith's eyes because he's not an equal), supporting the idea of her being with griffith/being his most important person like he won't because he doesn't view it as a competition like she has been since day one) leading to her realizing that he's kind of not that bad a guy and they have a lot more in common that she thought. and how the bonfire of dreams conversation is guts opening up to her in kind, the answer to her talking about how griffith saved her, how she feels. how neither of them ever call it love but it's something they know they both have for griffith. how it's something they're beginning to have for each other, different in ways they couldn't put a word to. because they're equals this time. the way griffith kind of becomes less and less important as they find other reasons to live and fight, as they become less singularly obsessed with him. how griffith is unable to stand it, guts' personhood, that agency and peer-to-peer equality he claimed to want (and perhaps truly did) that disappeared guts from his life, his plans, his side. how it barely even matters to griffith how casca changes because he never wanted her like she wanted him. god i can't fucking stand their shakespearean nonsense drama (<- hopelessly in love with their interpersonal dynamics)
#god they're the only healthy part of this unholy mind-palace love triangle/throuple aren't they#they could have been the worst qpr/throuple in your social circle. like just insufferable when they're not getting along#if griffith hadn't [oh god oh fuck oh jesus christ] all over everything even remotely good in his life anyway#poor casca's in love with a gay man and then falls for his not-quite-boyfriend and when not-quite-boyfriend reciprocates said gay man fucki#g. Does The Eclipse Stuff. at least partially to get back at you two. oh my godd#i'm sorry i'm so not normal about them. it's starting to leak out into the blog bc i'm finally having a Berserk Moment since starting tumbl#but whewwwww. gotta get this outta my system#hope this wall of text makes sense oops <3#berserk#berserk 1997#how do i even tag their thang. their disastrous just horrible agonizing 3 guy dynamic. hm.#gutsca#griffguts#don't even know if anyone tags for griffith and casca. fair because 1) he raped her. yikes 2) he just straight up isn't into her#and i don't know if there's a tag for the three of them but trial and error led to nothing#but i wanna talk about their dynamic. their. (gestures wildly) whatever. it's not about thinking griffith should kiss anyone it's about lik#the agony. the pining and the torment and whatever miura so beautifully crafted for me specifically. sheesh#hope it's clear that i Don't Want Them To Be An Uwu Little Polycule Bc Casca Should Not Be In A Cutesy Throuple With Her Rapist#it's more that i think they kind of are or almost are part of this (gestures wildly again). Thing. with each other and i wanna talk about i#same with griffguts like oh man they should NOT be in a relationship. but i have this deep intense Need to study them and frankly they're#kind of crazy about each other for a while. like they care about each other so so much it's crucial to all three of their characters.#so it's kind of unavoidable. and i wanna talk about it. and have this read by people who also want to talk about it. yeah? yeah.#(and yeah i think griffith raping casca was about her and guts. like 'fuck you for making him okay with leaving me' type of vibe. even#though it wasn't her fault he's just. god. but it sure as hell isn't Mostly about casca because griffith's making eye contact like the Whol#time with guts. he makes him watch. it's just. shooooooooooo aughhhhghhghh fucking. jesus christ. that or it's the fear that his two most#important pawns are going to leave him Together and he just. can't deal with that. especially after the torture internment thing.#he's so weak and he was so close to his dream and now it's falling apart and they're leaving him and he can't even move. it's about making#damn sure they can't escape him or forget him ever again.#or maybe it's even a 'you can't have her she's mine' to guts but it's still largely like. spiteful/about possessing her as a soldier/human#because i don't think you could convince me it's about having her as a lover or about controlling/hurting/possessing her body.)

okay so. I think a lot of what was leaked is kind of irrelevant. like yeah he's being a bit mean about his costars but like. eh. that's their own personal drama and doesn't necessarily need to be a scandal. him secretly not liking bible or apo or anyone is like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ whatever! he's rude and it's embarrassing of him but it's not the thing that's relevant here imo
what is relevant in the leaked messages is his constant homophobia and misogyny, his demonstrated lack of remorse for his past homophobia and misogyny, and the continued evidence of him being threatening and violent.
that's what is so insane that people are continuing to defend. I don't care that he was a bit rude about his coworkers. I care that his threatening, sexist, homophobic behaviour continues to get ignored and defended by his fans. I care that the bigotry and the gossip are being equivocated, allowing the actual offensive things he said to be swept under the rug of "aren't we all a bit gossipy sometimes in our private messages?"
because sure. most of us are probably a bit mean about our friends/coworkers in private sometimes. but I sure hope we aren't all saying half of the shit that he was saying in some of those messages.

I'll be so doomed the day I ever get a girl f/o
#pan rambles#I say doomed in like. a positive way. In a “I'd get way too flustered” way#I haven't really talked about it here because I don't feel like I owe it to people to talk about my attraction and the complexities of it#But I'll talk about it a bit bc I just need to ramble#I'm 99% I'm Aro. At the very least some flavor of it. I don't care about finding a specific label- I've spent many years stressing about it#And I don't really feel like spending even more years stressing about it#Despite being aro- I like the idea of being in a romantic relationship one day#Even if I know it'll probably never happen#Not only am I perfectly content with my QPR rn but also because I don't think most people would be open to the idea of dating an Aro#Which hey! Is completely fair! I know the love I feel is different than what I think most people feel#Though I'd argue that even if it's not exactly the same type- It's still plenty strong. When I love my friends it's a strong feeling#I'd do anything for my friends and I love them so much that I'd literally do anything to see them happy! The love I feel for them is strong#But it's not. Romantic y'know? Augh I'm getting distracted!#Back to my initial point!!! I can't tell if I like girls or not!#I'm not exactly in a safe place irl to try to experiment with those feelings so I've been pushing it aside for so long!#But I think there's definitely a chance I like girls in the same Aro™ way that I like guys!#I'm not gonna try to find a label for it because I don't want to label it but yeah#There's definitely a few crushes and f/os that I've headcanoned as Transfem before#But I've never romantically f/od a girl#Afksnfksnfkskd Ok yeah that's enough of Panchi rambling for tonight!#I just needed to let that out!#Thank you to anyone who listened to my Rambling about Attraction and stuff-

why do americans always talk about electoral politics like election day is literally tomorrow. they do this even if someone JUST got elected and therefore they wont even be able to vote anyone in and out for another 4 years. do yall ever notice how nobody else ever punctuates their regional politics posts with 'and remember to vote' unless the post started with the sentence 'election day is coming up in [location]' (and "coming up" is like "within the next two months" not "sometime in the next few years"). are you like not allowed to talk about politics without talking about voting. is there ever any time where you can respond to anything a political leader does using any method other than voting in the next election (which is sometimes several years away and therefore doesn't actually help current and ongoing problems)???? its like as soon as the election is over the campaign for the next one starts. genuinely how do you all live like that. isnt there laws preventing candidates and donors from campaigning too far in advance of an election?? and if there isnt. well that would explain some things tbh

Me pondering: kids are capable of going through and understanding complex problems and their feelings should be taken seriously when it counts.
Me practically: who are all these annoying fucking kids in the milgram fandom and why are they posting the worst takes and most irrelevant bullshit I've ever seen ever???
I think these are valid to coexist.
#haterposting sorry lile kids like amane?#w ACTUAL maturity and intelligence? yes hear them out!!#some 13-year-old posting drivel about “ships” when it's completely irrelevant#or missing the point of very complex plot points bc they are Literally Not The Age Demographic and Actually Dont Understand It?#im SO SORRY i am not gonna b mean to anyone but I WILL HATE THEM FROM AFAR#GO BACK TO BNHA OR DANGANRONPA U ARE ACTUALLY MAKING THE SPACES LOWER QUALITY BY BEING HERE#like obviously it does not matter at all lmao kids will do whatever#i was watching bojack horseman at 13 thinking i was So Smart i don't get to talk#but to be fair i NEVER missed the point as bad as some milgram kiddies in the YouTube side of the fandom#like no “wrong” way to enjoy things but imo they legitimately need to enjoy something else#but literally if your only takeaway from this project is “omg ship cute characters silly”#but you still insist on joining discussion spaces? god please leave#I DON'T HATE MINORS I DON'T DISCRIMINATE i just think the minors who legitimately have nothing to add should shut the fuck up#sorry livechat got me wildin lmaooooo idc that much but like it's a weird contrast#cuz my general genuine feelings for most situations is “yeah listen to kids' perspectives wholeheartedly”#but like ONLINE kids who post about nonsense that has nothing to do with what others are trying to discuss? godddd they legit need to leave#nothing against shipping either long as ur not Gross#(coughbitchesshippingwholeadultawunderagecharacterscough)#but if that's ALL YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT there are way better fandoms for that leave the milgram creators aloooone lmao#minors who actually Think about shit this does not apply to you obviously lol#if ur smart ur smart if you contribute u contribute#but like try to let urself be a kid sometimes too lol

just a little personal anecdote/ thought dump in the tags..
#so there's this girl i work with - lets call her E. and i used fo work with her mum - lets call her J.#and E is overall v sweet. tho somewhat manipulative and a bit of a princess. ad i guess kind of my friend?#but only kind of bc she is younger and that maturity difference and also im her manager (we used to be the same rank)#but i was like really good friends with her mum - J. like we had v similar experiences and just clicked.#i dont talk to J anymore for several reasons (she stopped working. i got weird - like insecure and whatnot. she moved away).#and E and J do not get along very well#and like J was my friend first right. i was biased by her side of things and disagreements with E.#and tho my rship w J was kind of fucked up and i definitely carry a sadness for how that ended. it doesn't erase#that she was my friend and we got long v well and we clicked and i felt she understood me and vice versa#and similar life experiences and all that jazz etc#and i dont think it ever has occured to E that like me and her mum were actually friends??#bc like we'll be having a conversation and she'll start talking about her mum in a v negative way#and its just so so awkward#bc i know her mum isnt perfect and isnt necessarily fair to her - compared to her sister#but like E is very strong willed and she's still maturing and struggles to see past her own ego#and J is someone who definitely avoids conflict and confrontation but not by giving in - but by stepping back. if that makes sense#but thats why E and J dont get along. neither knows how to reach agreement or compromise#but anyways i understand J and respect her and it so awkward to sit there whilst E whines and trash talks#and it also makes me sad#and we're well past the pointof me saying anything#like a year ago. sure. and there were several times i did say 'hey. i know youre having feelings about this but like ur mum was my friend?#so i think its better if we dont discuss this' kind of thing#but it didnt stick. plus its kind of weird. bc its v much past tense now - like me and J WERE friends.#and like i think E thinks that she and I are good friends. which is also awkward.#bc we were coworkers so yeh. kind of friends by default - small team and o ly young ppl#but she's not rly the kind of person that i vibe with#and ive been making an effort to withdraw bc I'm her manager now and i need professional boundaries so i can do my job well#anyway thats kind of the end of my story#for some context J was previously my manager and briefly also her daughter's manager#and something ive never admitted fo anyone before but you probably picked up on already - i did have such a crush on J
