Part two for this one. I'm sorry for the cliffhanger in the first part. The illustration is from the amazing @ave661 .
--
Four months. That’s how much time it took Simon to get out of that hazy fugue state. He didn’t really remember what he had gone through during that time, his brain switched to autopilot after the breakup. He often wondered why it affected him this much when he didn’t even love you. You were just someone he spent time with, someone he tried to play house with for a short while to feel normal.
Still, now as he lay on his bed, watching the ceiling fan rotate to stir up the hot air in the room, he couldn’t stop thinking about you. He even found himself opening a social media app to search for your name from a fake account he had set up a long time ago, and he was shocked to see the most recent photo of you. It was impossible to miss the unmistakable shape of a baby bump under your shirt, and based on its size, you got pregnant long months ago.
When he was finally allowed to go home for a short while, Simon went to see you. He knew he had hurt you, he knew you were probably still mad at him, but he had to know if it was his child. It only happened one time. One night when he tried to fix things by giving you what you wanted, hoping sex could make him see you in another light. Maybe he would finally want you the way you always wanted him to want you. But it didn’t work, and it was after that night he made the final decision to end things with you.
“What do you want?” you asked him when you opened the door.
Simon nodded as he bit the inside of his cheek. This cold welcome was fair enough, he deserved this kind of treatment. Normally, he would have left you alone. But normally, you would have told him you were pregnant.
So he silently pointed at your belly and waited for you to realize what he wanted. He knew you weren't dumb, the pieces would fall into place in a second. And sure enough, you let out a sigh then opened the door wider to let him in.
“Why didn't you tell me?” he asked you as he stood in the kitchen next to you with his arms crossed.
You were busy making him a cup of tea, but you took the time to silently shrug. When he let out a heavy sigh, you looked over at him and said, “I didn't think you'd care, Si. Simple as that.”
You were right. He didn't care. Even now that he was looking at you, his eyes occasionally moving to the bump that hid his own blood, his mind was somewhere else. He was a soldier, he knew how to take responsibility for his actions. You getting pregnant was his fault too. He couldn't just ignore the problem.
“I’ll pay child support,” he assured you.
“No need.”
Simon reached out to put a hand on the base of your neck, but you quickly pushed his hand away before he could touch your skin. “You don’t have to do this alone.”
You inhaled through your nose and held your breath in for a few seconds before finally exhaling. “So what? You’re gonna be around and help us? Take her to a doctor’s appointment or for a stroll around the block?” When you saw him looking down at his shoes, you couldn’t help but snort. “Thought so,” you said.
“I’ll better get going. If you change your mind, you know where to find me.”
Months flew by, but Simon barely noticed. He was on a mission again far from home, risking his life as usual. You never called and he didn’t force it. He accepted that he would have to live with the guilt of making this happen. Since you didn’t want to accept child support, he opened a bank account where he stored that money, hoping that one day he could give it to you or his daughter when she became old enough.
One day he checked your social media accounts like he had done a few times before, just to see how you were. This is when he saw the post in which you announced the arrival of your baby girl. He didn’t make a big deal out of it at first. She was born and she would probably ask about her father one day. If he was still alive then, he would gladly give her a toned down explanation. If not… Well, he left everything to her in his will.
Eventually he began to save the photos of his daughter and he often found himself looking at them. She was adorable, some of her features resembling his own. Her big brown eyes were definitely his; the color and the shape were both so familiar to him.
No one from the team knew about this part of his life. He had never told anyone, because why would he? They were close, they were his brothers, but you and your daughter were carefully guarded secrets in his life. Simon knew the real reason why he never talked about you; he was afraid of the judgmental looks and words.
Two months later, when he entered his apartment again after another round of deployment, Simon didn't really know what to do with himself. He ended up looking at his daughter's photos more and more often and eventually he made up his mind to give her a visit. It had absolutely nothing to do with you. He was doing this for the little girl.
You weren't welcoming but, once again, he couldn't blame you. “I just want to see my daughter,” he said softly, hoping the two of you could avoid fighting.
For long moments you were cautiously watching him, as if you were trying to decide if he could be trusted or not. But then your eyes fell on the big teddy bear he was holding with one hand and you let out a sigh of defeat.
On the way to the nursery, you didn't talk at all. The silence didn't bother him, but still he would have appreciated some words about the little girl he was about to meet. Was he allowed to pick her up? Did she like to be held? How was she? Did she have stomach ache often? Were she teething?
“Be quick,” you warned him when you stopped by her crib.
Simon let out a sigh. “Come on, don't be like that.”
You just rolled your eyes at him before taking a step back to lean your shoulder against the doorframe, arms folded over your chest, eyes watching his every move like a hawk. He found it a little too much, he hated that you didn't trust him. Sure, he hadn't given you many reasons to trust him, but for the sake of your daughter you should have tried.
With a sigh, he rested an elbow on the side of the crib and reached out to touch the baby as gently as he could with his other hand. His own flesh and blood. It was amazing, really. Without asking for permission, he picked her up and couldn't help but smile when the baby smiled at him.
Now that he was holding her close to his body, placing soft kisses on her head every so often, Simon couldn't deny that he already loved his daughter. There was an invisible string between them, something that brought her closer to him that anyone has ever been.
The baby giggled suddenly and it brought an even wider smile to Simon’s face. He could only hope you would let him see her as often as he could visit, but something told him it wouldn't be easy to convince you.
“She likes you,” you suddenly noted.
He put down the little girl then turned to you. “The feeling's mutual.” A faint smile appeared on your lips. “Can I see her some other time?” You nodded. “Thank you. If I can help with anything, just give me a call or send a message. I'll get back to you as soon as I can,” he offered.
You been to walk out of the room and he quietly followed you, waiting for you to say something. He didn't really know what he was expecting to hear, but he had a feeling you were holding back something. And sure enough, after a few minutes of silence you began to talk, scolding him for not even bothering to send at least a text to ask about her before suddenly showing up.
“I'm sorry. I didn't think you'd read them.”
“I'm mad at you, that's true,” you agreed.
Simon leaned against the doorframe as he watched you pace in the living room like a caged animal. He remembered those nights he had spent thinking about on deployment, the moment he saw that photo of you, and he realized that maybe he was missing you.
But how could he miss someone he didn't even love? Or had he developed feelings for you, feelings he tried to hide even from himself? It was way too confusing for him, and he didn't like to be confused. It was a weakness on the field and in his civilian life.
“I should go. If you need anything–”
You came to a halt, turned to him and nodded. “I know where to find you. But can I ask you something?” Simon motioned you to go on. “Why now? Why did you become interested in her all of a sudden?”
He let out a thoughtful hum as he put his hand on the back of his neck. “I saw the photos, how much she looks like me, and… I don't know.” You took a few steps closer to him, but you still kept a comfortable distance. “I've been saving money for her. I want to give you access to that bank account.”
“I don't need your money,” you were quick to say.
“It's for her. Please, accept it.”
You became mad at him, accusing him of assuming you couldn't take care of your daughter you'd been raising on your own from day one. He knew there was no point in defending himself, you were too lost in the hate you felt for him. So he just waited there in silence, letting you finish your speech.
Then, the moment you seemingly finished, he closed the gap between the two of you. He didn't know what he was doing, he just followed his instinct when he leaned down and kissed you. This was probably the first time he truly enjoyed kissing you, and it helped a lot that you were quick to return it.
Maybe this was why he wanted to come here today. To fix things. To try to get a family he'd been craving ever since he lost his own.

Stress Relief
Cont: established relationship, sub!Choso x fem!reader, pet names (babe, baby, good boy, pretty girl), overstimulation, blowjob (m!receiving), cock slapping, pegging (strap-on), dacryphilia if you squint, no plot just sex, unprotected sex (please wear protection irl), unrealistic amounts of orgasms, kinda got lazy at the end 😓
Word count: ~900
Masterlist
A/n: Sighhhh subby Choso💕 I saw a post where someone said they didn’t like the submissive characterization of Choso and my heart shattered. BUT I like my men submissive (I’m a lesbian) soooo… <3 likes and reblogs are appreciated!!
〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎ ❀ 〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎〰︎
Choso knows you get mean when you’ve had a bad day. Mean how? In bed, obviously! You have a bad day, he’s either between your legs and taking the lead, or you’re just so mean to his body. So it’s no surprise when you come home from work with a scowl that he’d end up beneath you, tears falling down his face, whimpers escaping his throat from how much you’re bullying his sensitive cock.
“Babe- baby- I- fffuck I can’t handle it-” He manages to choke out through whines and tears. You don’t reply as you suck the nth orgasm out of his poor dick.
“F-fuuuck, pretty girl, I can’t- I can’t-” he cries as you finally pull off of his cock with a loud pop echoing the room.
“Use your words like a good boy.” You jerk off his sensitive cock and watch his body jolt, his tip an angry red color from the overstimulation.
“I can’t- I can’t- ple-please…”
You frown at his inability to form a coherent sentence and you smack his sensitive tip, causing him to cry out and try to curl in on himself, pretty tears streaming down his face.
“Fuuuck, I can’t take it, pretty girl, please…”
“Aww, poor little guy can’t take it?” You fake pout and smack his tip again, a pathetic cry coming out of him as he tugs at his hair in overstimulation, knowing if he grabs you he’ll just get a worse punishment.
“I can’t- I can’t take it- I’m sorry- I’m sorry-”
You soothe his poor angry tip and plant small kisses against his skin, making him think that you’re done with your torment.
“Tha-thank you- fuck- thank you- ohhh fuuuck-” Choso sees you put on the strap and he groans, knowing that you’ll spare him no mercy.
“Suck, Cho. Make me feel it.”
Almost instantly, he’s sucking the strap as if you could feel it. Eyes rolling back, pathetic whimpers escaping his throat, little gags from each time he hits the strap on the back of his throat, he’s just so cute under you, wanting you to feel good.
“Good boy, Choso, you’re doing so good.” You grin and run your fingers through his hair, tugging his head closer by the strands because you’re just so mean.
He whines and digs his nails into your plush thighs, crescent shapes imprinted by how deep he’s digging. You shove his head away and bend him over.
“Ready?”
“Mhm,” he whines, nodding pathetically and trying to spread himself more for you.
You push the strap in and he arches that muscular back. Pathetic cries as you bully his prostate, sheets and pillows being gripped and bit down on to try and muffle his cries.
“Fuck!! Pretty- fuck- pr-pretty girl, I- fuck- I can’t- fuck- fuuuuuck…”
“Use your words, Choso, be a good boy and use those words.”
Your hips are relentless, beating up his poor ass as you grin at his inability to say anything. His body goes limp and you already know he’s reached yet another orgasm.
Choso sees white and you almost think he passed out of it weren’t for his gasps that follow almost ten seconds later.
“Fuck! Fuck! Ohhhhhmygod!” He cries and you tug his head back meanly by his hair.
“Yeah? Feels good? You’re such a good boy…”
“Fuuuck, yes! I’m your good boy! I’m- fuuuck, I’m cumming again, please let me cummmm!!”
“Go ahead, I’ll never deny your pleasure, Cho.”
He cums yet again, and you flip him onto his back so you can see his cute reactions. Your hips are never tired, not when you’re making this big strong man cry from how good you’re pounding his ass.
“Fuck! Ahhh! I can’t- Ican’t- can’t take ittt!!” He cries and cums again, seeing white yet again, then rainbows, butterflies, pure ecstasy on his face as you keep going.
You grin and tease his pierced nipples, but he’s so out of it he just whimpers as tears stream down his face and drool pools out of his mouth.
“Still here, Cho?” You giggle and he just whines pathetically, body jolting with each movement.
“Cock- hic- neglected…” He whimpers, almost reaching for you when you pull out.
“Want me to ride you til you pass out?”
“Please… won’t take long, feels good…”
He’s so fucked out and has hearts for eyes as he looks up at you. He’s just so cute, you can’t help but agree to his wishes, taking off the strap and riding him raw.
Choso weakly grips your hips, watching you like you’re the only thing ever and unable to even make noise. He just feels so good. He cums more times than you can count, unsure if he’s even breathing.
Choso swears he sees god. Someone is peering down at him, perfect in every way, making him so euphoric. That’s the last thing he remembers, at least. He passes out and you notice, stopping your movements slowly and feeling to make sure he is indeed breathing.
You carefully clean him up, as well as yourself. The you lay beside him and rub his sleeping form, wiping his pretty tears out of his eyes and off of his face. You cuddle him and kiss his cheek, knowing you’ll give him all the praise and affection when he wakes up. He’s such a perfect stress reliever.

part 2 (18+)
~
You already felt terrible you were having to miss the last game of the season, but as you watch the clock hit zero on the screen of the tv in front of you, signifying another Devil’s loss, you really wished you could be there. You think about how defeated your boys look, not being able to secure one last win for the fans this season. You watch as they skate to the middle of the ice, thanking their fans with rounded shoulders and sad smiles on their faces.
You curse your professors, hating that their review schedules for finals fell right in the middle of the end of the hockey season. You were supposed to be there tonight, supporting your friends and boyfriend; but a last-minute email from a professor informing you of a mandatory review session, starting only an hour before puck drop, threw your plans out the window.
You pick up your phone to send Nico a quick text, telling him you love him and are proud of him no matter what. You know he won’t see it right away, with post-game interviews and the added responsibility of fan-appreciation activities, he won’t be home for another hour or two at the earliest. You turn the tv off, not wanting to see the dejected looks from the team any longer.
You go to the kitchen and start to busy yourself by making one of Nico’s favorite treats, wanting to give him something to smile about when he gets home. You make plans in your head to either make something or order something to take to the rest of the team tomorrow during their locker cleanout. Once you’ve finished the task at hand and cleaned the kitchen, you make your way back into the living room, figuring Nico will be home any minute.
You were scrolling through Instagram, lost in the comments on the Devil’s most recent post about the fans, when you heard the front door to your apartment open. You sat up, turning your body to face the entry way, watching Nico walk towards you. He dropped his bag as he reached the couch, wordlessly flopping down beside you, throwing his body half on top of yours. He buried his face in your neck, inhaling the comforting scent of your perfume, squeezing your body against his own.
“I’m so proud of you,” is the first thing you said to him, taking the beanie off of his head so you can run your fingers through his hair.
“Nothin’ to be proud of, Schatz. We lost. Didn’t you see?” You feel him mumble against your skin.
“Hey, now. No more pity party, alright? You still went out there and gave it everything you had. I’ll always be proud of you, win or lose,” you scold, hating when he doesn’t give himself credit for all the work he puts in for this team.
“Just wish we could’ve won one last one. For the fans. For the guys. For Jack.”
“How is he, by the way? You heard anything?” You ask about the middle Hughes, knowing how upset Nico was he wouldn’t be finishing the season with the rest of the team.
“Yeah, talked to him before the game. Sore, but good. Already trying to weasel his way back onto the ice, but Ellen has him under house arrest.”
You chuckle, causing Nico’s body to shake with yours, knowing how stubborn Jack can be.
“I swear, if he doesn’t just let himself rest and heal I’ll fly out to Michigan myself to babysit him,” you tell your boyfriend, earning a laugh in response.
The conversation falls silent soon after, the two of you just soaking in each other’s company. You had adjusted your bodies so Nico was fully laying on you now, one hand continuing to play with his hair, the other lightly tracing shapes up and down his back. You worry he’s fallen asleep until you feel him lift his head, resting his chin on your chest so he can look up at your face.
“Wanna talk about it?” You ask him, looking down at his soft, sad eyes.
“Not much to say. We lost. The game, the season, the cup. We just didn’t perform this year. Got a lot to work on going forward,” he shrugs, not meeting your eyes.
“Okay, when I asked if you wanted to talk about it, I didn’t mean give me locker room answers. I meant, do you want to talk about why you’re being so hard on yourself? Why you’re acting like you won’t ever play hockey again? I know how hard this is on you all, especially after the season you guys had last year, but not every year is a stellar year, Neeks. Sometimes you have to have a bad season before you know how to have a great one,” you pushed him off of you slightly, both of you sitting up so you can face each other.
“I know we can’t be great every year, Y/N, but I at least expected us to do as well as we did last year. Coming off of such an explosive season, even though we didn’t win the cup, I figured everyone would show up ready to go, ready to win some games. And then then everyone started getting injured, and the longer the season went on, something shifted. It’s like they gave up before we even got started. It’s like they didn’t even want it anymore!” Nico cries out, letting himself get worked up.
You simply nod, encouraging him to keep going, knowing he needs to get it out of his system.
“I just-“ he hesitates, calming himself from his outburst mere seconds ago. “I worry about who’ll be coming back next season. I like this team. I love these guys like they’re my brothers, and I wanted better for so many of them. Nothing is ever guaranteed in the league, and I just want to keep playing with this team. Tonight could’ve been the last time I ever stepped onto that ice with a few of them.” He continues, emotion so raw on his face you almost want to cry for him.
There it was. The real reason he’s so upset. You knew this was more than just a loss, even if it was a hard one. He hardly ever comes home and just allows the two of you to sit in silence, always going over what they could’ve done better, and what they need to work on in the future. He’s upset about losing his team. Nico always gets so attached to his players, wanting to give every person he plays with the best guidance and outcomes he can. You figure its why they made him captain.
“Oh Neeks,” you start, reaching out to grab his hands. “These guys love you, you know that, right? They want to do their best for you, always. You think they don’t beat themselves up for letting you down?” you pause, wanting your words to truly reach him. “But…you know this is always a possibility. Trades get made, contracts expire. It’s just part of the world you signed up for. I can guarantee you, nearly every one of these guys would come back next year if it was up to them. They love this team just like you do,” you reiterate, having been told this by his teammates more times than you can count. “You gave them everything you could this season. I can assure you, not a single player left that arena tonight thinking of what you could’ve done differently, instead focusing on what they could’ve done differently.”
Nico sat for a second, absorbing your words. He takes his hands from yours to place his head in them, trying to collect his thoughts.
“Wenn es nur so einfach wäre,” you hear the foreign words muffled by the sound of his hands.
“Neeks, you know I’m learning, but I have no clue what you just said,” you chuckle slightly, not knowing if he’s even aware of the language switch.
“I said, if only it was that easy. I know you’re right, I do. But I just can’t make my brain hear the words the way my ears do,” he sighs.
You look at the man in front of you with sad eyes. You wish you could carry some of this burden for him, but you can’t. At the end of the day, you don’t know what it’s like to be the captain of a hockey team. You don’t know the full extent of the pressure not only his coaches place on him, but the team management, as well.
“My sweet, sweet boy,” you coo sadly, reaching out to cup his face, his own sad, brown eyes looking into yours. “Why don’t we just relax for the rest of the night, yeah? I was thinking about a bath earlier, if you wanted to join me? I’ll add some of that bubble bath you like. The one that smells like oranges and raspberries?” You question, deciding you’d talked enough hockey tonight.
“Yeah, that sounds nice,” he agrees, leaning into your touch, letting his eyes flutter shut.
You lean forward to give him a small peck on his forehead before standing and making your way to the bathroom.
You make sure the temperature of the water isn’t too hot, but still wanting it to be warm enough to soothe the ache not only in Nico’s muscles, but the ache in his chest, too. You decide to light a few candles, wanting to make the space as relaxing for him as possible. The bathroom door opens as you’re lighting the last candle, Nico having already discarded most of his clothing, standing before you only in his boxers.
He closes the door behind him, walking fully into the bathroom and leaning against the counter next to you. You set the candle away from anything that could potentially catch fire, and walk over to Nico. You wrap your arms around his torso, resting your cheek against his bare chest.
The two of you stand like that for a few moments, trying to transfer every ounce of love you have for the man through the contact. Eventually he pulls back, placing his hands on your shoulder before cocking an eyebrow, eyes raking down your body at your still fully clothed figure.
“Shouldn’t you have much less clothing on if we’re meant to be taking a bath together, Schatz?” he asks, the teasing in his voice a nice change from earlier.
“Are you trying to get me naked, cap?” you try to act shocked, but you can’t help the amused smile that breaks out on your face.
“Always, Mrs. cap,” he cheekily responds, using his teammates’ nickname for you.
You step back with a giggle, undressing yourself as Nico removes what little clothing he had on. After you walk over to turn the bathroom light off, the two of you step into the steaming tub, settling into a comfortable position. Your back rests against Nico’s chest, head resting on his shoulder, his clasped hands resting on your stomach. He begins tracing shapes on your stomach like you were on his back a few minutes ago, letting the warm water heat your skin and wash the stress of the day away.
“You know, even though I’m sad the season’s over, it does mean I get to spend more time with you now,” Nico breaks the silence, head tilted to rest against yours.
You hum in response, smiling at the thought of no more early morning alarms or late-night interruptions when he gets home from a roadie. You daydream about lazy mornings and breakfast in bed, something the two of you don’t get to indulge in nearly enough. You open your eyes, the thought reminding you of the treat you made Nico before his arrival home, nearly forgetting about the baked good sitting in your kitchen.
“Oh, I almost forgot, I baked you a little something before you got home!” you sat up a bit, water splashing around you.
“You did? What ever for?” Nico asks, eyes widening a bit at your sudden burst of enthusiasm.
“Just because. Knew you had a hard day, wanted to make sure you had something sweet to brighten it up a bit,” you shrugged.
“Not necessary. Not with the promise of getting to come home to you already.”
Your cheeks flush red, never really getting used to the sweet words Nico always throws your way.
“Well, I guess you don’t want any Luzerner….Luzerner…Leb…” You start, but can’t remember how to pronounce the Swiss dessert. You huff, crossing your arms over your chest, aggravated with yourself and your lack of fluency in Swiss-German.
“Luzerner Lebkuchen?” Nico finished for you.
“Yeah…that.” You roll your eyes at his perfect pronunciation.
“You really made it for me? From scratch?”
“Mhmm. Used your mom’s recipe. I hope it turned out. I didn’t want to cut into it to try it before you got home. Wanted to surprise you.”
Nico’s heart swelled at the confession, amazed that you’d go through all of that effort just for him. It wasn’t an easy dish to perfect, by no means. It took his mom years to get her gingerbread cake perfectly moist and flavorful. Regardless of how it tastes, he’ll savor it like it’s the last food on earth, simply because you made it for him.
“Well consider me surprised,” Nico murmurs, leaning in to kiss you.
You love moments like these. Lost in Nico, the two of you in your own little world. No hockey, no schoolwork, no responsibilities. Just two people hopelessly in love with each other, soaking in every ounce of affection the other has to offer.
Nico runs his hand down your back, causing your body to shiver at the contact. He pulls you closer, his other hand coming to tangle itself in your hair, tugging just enough to cause your mouth to open in a gasp, using the opportunity to slip his tongue into your mouth. Your tongues fight one another, his winning the struggle for dominance in the end, a groan working its way out of his throat. When he starts to move his hand lower down your back, grabbing the flesh of your ass in the process, you pull back, lips swollen and out of breath.
“Nope. Slow your roll, hot stuff. This was meant to be a relaxing bath, not a sex and suds party,” you push him back by the shoulders, earning a pout from the man across from you.
“But, a sex and suds party sounds pretty relaxing to me. No better way to unwind after a hard day than watching your face as I make you cu-“
“Nope! Not happening right now! Keep it up and it won’t be happening at all tonight,” You warn, turning back around to resume your earlier position, hands resting over his on your stomach to keep them from wandering.
Nico laughs, finding amusement in your commitment to the relaxing bath you promised him. He places a kiss to your temple, deciding to leave it alone for now, knowing he’ll revisit the subject later.
The two of you sit in the warm tub until the water runs cold, talking about anything that crosses your minds. From your upcoming finals to summer destinations you’d love to visit, the security of your bubble filled world allowing no room for hockey talk or stressful situations to infiltrate the delicate space.
After you start shivering, having put up with the cold water for as long as you could, Nico reaches forward to drain the tub, deciding that its time the two of you get out and dry off. You step out of the tub, reaching for the towels you had placed on the closed lid of the toilet seat, grabbing one for yourself before handing one to Nico. The two of you dry off your bodies, no sound other than the draining tub in the room. You look over to Nico, towel wrapped around his waist, and admire the man you love. You love him for so much more than his physique, but you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t the cherry on top of the already perfect soul before you.
Before he catches you staring and gets anymore ideas, you look away and wrap your own towel around your body, trying to shield yourself from the cool air on your damp skin.
“Thank you, Schatz,” Nico breaks the silence, causing you to look up at him, noticing he had closed the distance between the two of you, reaching out to place a piece of hair behind your ear, hand falling to your cheek.
“For what?”
“For always being here when I need someone. For always knowing exactly what I need, even before I do. For being you,” he states, referencing the many times you’ve been his sanity after days like today, always managing to take his mind off of his troubles and filling his head with thoughts of you, instead.
“Always,” you turn your head, placing a kiss on his palm before placing your cheek back against his palm, flashing Nico one of your loving smiles.
“Now, what about digging into that cake I made you? It’s not going to eat itself, you know?” you perk up, wanting to find out if you efforts paid off or not.
“Oh, I have a different kind of dessert I’d rather dig into, if you don’t mind,” Nico smirks, watching your eyes widen as he picks you up and throws you over his shoulder, laughing at your squeal as he heads towards the door of the bathroom, ready to savor his sweet treat.

Since Agatha is coming back for us real soon, I'd love to read more of her. I know you just posted a fic for her not so long ago, but if you have any more up your sleeve, I'd love to read it
Faithful Familiar
Summary: Villains have hearts— it’s just that their minds are set on other things. Not every “villain” is a monster.
Pairing: Agatha Harkness x fem!familiar!reader
Warnings: Minor Agatha All Along spoilers (like really small I swear)
Word count: 1361
a/n: Happy Halloween everyone! What’s a better way to spend the night than with your favorite witch? So in this scenario, witch familiars can shift from their original animal form to a human form at will. So yes, it is similar to Diaval in Maleficent. (Reblogs are welcome and critiques/advice are heavily encouraged, but please no translating.)
1972
The two run panting hand in hand down the alleyway. “Okay was it necessary to do your whole power-draining thing while we’re here,” Y/n asks continuing to drag Agatha to some kind of safety. Agatha chuckles, “No it wasn’t necessary. But it was something I felt like doing. It’s not my fault they had some pets.” She grins to herself, “What were they called again?”
As Y/n tries to make a sharp right turn she’s stopped by two women geared up with a variety of potions and weapons. One of the women steps forward, “Have and we are the Daughters of Liberty! Humans sworn to protect witches in-” Agatha cackles. “Blah blah blah blah. Ladies! You deserve a vacation!”
Rolling her eyes at Agatha’s snide remark Y/n begins dragging her down the alleyway in the opposite direction. Agatha smiles at Y/n, “Oh come on! Not even a pity laugh! That was funny and you know it.”
“No time for that Agatha.” Y/n peers over her shoulder to see how far away the other women are. They’re still chasing not that far away but one is readying a lasso that has a glowing blue tint to it, binding magic Y/n thinks to herself. Y/n pushes Agatha ahead of her, “Go!”
Agatha’s face flashes with concern for a split moment. “Just take a right then a left, there should be some stores nearby to hide out in. I’ll be right behind you don’t worry,” Y/n says assuringly.
One of the Daughters of Liberty begins to throw down her lasso as Agatha runs farther away, managing her timing though Y/n knocks down one of the trash cans lining the alleyway. Looking above her head though the lasso begins to fall on her. Before it can cinch to her waist though she manages to create a big puff of black smoke, shifting into her crow form.
Flying much faster than the women can run Y/n catches up to Agatha just enough to see her enter a crafting supplies store. Landing and shifting back to her human form Y/n enters the store her eyes set on Agatha. Alone in a paint supplies aisle, Y/n wraps an arm around Agatha’s waist.
“There’s plenty of stores nearby why this one? You’re not much one for arts and crafts.” Agatha shrugs. “It was either this or a poultry deli,” she teases. Y/n rolls her eyes cracking a small smile, the moment quickly fades though, as a dagger flies right by Agatha’s head tearing through the paint canvas next to her.
The witch and crow bolt running through the store as the Daughters of Liberty follow. The Daughters of Liberty finally catch up though one blocking each end of the knitting aisle. Agatha and Y/n stand back to back being similar situations too many times to count.
Agatha’s hands begin to whirl with purple energy, “You think you can handle the one on your end?” Y/n pulls out the feather-shaped dagger strapped to her side, “Always. Let’s put on a show though, we should have an audience within a couple of minutes.”
As Y/n lunges for the woman on her end with her blade, Agatha smiles cockily at the woman on her end. “I think I’m gonna take my time with you little thing.” Clouded with anger the woman tries to lunge at Agatha with the blue-tinted lasso but Agatha simply raises her arm with a slight elegance.
Purple tendrils begin to wrap around the woman’s hand and arm. “Ah! Drop it!” Immediately in saying so the woman drops the lasso letting it fall to the floor. Agatha inches closer to the woman keeping her hold on her. “Now I’m curious, why be so loyal to something dead?”
The woman grits, “We live to protect witches wanted dead, even if it’s by other witches.” Agatha scoffs, “Well you sure did a poor job of that.” Using her free hand the woman grabs a knitting needle stabbing it into the arm Agatha had been using to keep a hold on her.
As Agatha jerks her arm back at the pain the woman does not loosen her grip causing the needle to tear through Agatha’s arm leaving a long gash in it. Ripping out the needle the woman tries to go in for a second stab— unfazed Agatha simply examines the wound groaning, “Well that wasn’t very nice.”
Using her good hand Agatha makes the woman punch herself hard enough a few times to knock her out. Turning Agatha sees Y/n finish off the other woman quickly stabbing her in the stomach with her feather-shaped blade.
Meeting Agatha’s gaze Y/n quickly notices the cut on Agatha’s arm, she cringes at the site. “Shit, are you okay?” Straighting out her shirt Agatha sighs, “I’m fine. This is why I don’t do hand-to-hand combat though. It is so for losers.” Y/n quirks an eyebrow at the last comment making Agatha grin with amusement. “I mean that with no offense to you obviously,” she says sarcastically.
Y/n nods in mock agreement, “Sure.”
“Mom?” Agatha turns around the question, the voice familiar. “Nicky?” She mutters to herself trying to follow the voice. “Mom?” All other noise and sound don’t reach Agatha besides this voice, and from the sound of it, it’s coming from the back exit of the craft store.
Making it to the alley she hears the voice echo out again, “Mom?” Turing in that direction she sees a short figure with its back turned a few feet away at the the end of the alleyway. “Nicky.” She feels some sadness swell up inside her she doesn’t care how or why this happening anymore.
Falling to her knees closing her eyes and going in for a hug she feels a tightness wrap around her, a painful tightness though. Looking down she sees the blue lasso wrapped around her, it wasn’t real. As the blue glow on the lasso fades she hears another voice. “Agatha!”
Y/n kneels in front of her cupping her face. “Hey, hey. Are you okay? The girl you knocked out released some kind of bottled spell. You were gone when I snapped out of it, then say you and-”
“I want to go back to the apartment.” Agatha’s voice was drained of emotion, her eyes prickled with tears. Y/n lifts Agatha up by her good arm her voice softer now, “Yeah, we can go back.”
//
Settling Agatha on the couch Y/n grabs the first aid kit from the bathroom sink, sitting next to her Y/n attempts to start cleaning the wound. As the alcohol swab makes contact with the wound Agatha snatches it from Y/n snapping at her. “I can do it myself!”
Y/n calmly lets go of the cotton swab, “You saw him, didn’t you?” Agatha stares at the wall in front of her unresponsive, which for Y/n was plenty enough of a response. Standing up Y/n puts on a long coat before kissing Agatha’s forehead gently, cupping her face once more.
“I’m gonna go out and get some food, mostly to give you space. While I’m gone please just take care of that cut. Okay?”
“Fine.”
//
Standing in front of a window display of TVs a woman stands next to Y/n. “How is she?” she asks. Y/n sighs deeply not facing the woman, “Why don’t you just ask her yourself sometime Rio?”
“Now’s not the right time.” Rio’s face gets serious, “Seriously though. How is she?” Y/n shrugs finally facing her. “Not great this second. One of the Daughters of Liberty used an illusion spell, she hallucinated Nicky.”
Rio conjures some flowers holding them out to her, “Just take care of her for me alright?” Taking the flowers Y/n nods, “I live to serve her. I don’t do it for just you anymore. It hasn’t been that way for decades.”
“Good, she needs all the love she can get. Even if she is stubborn.” As Rio begins to walk away Y/n chuckles a little.
“You leaving to go clean up her mess?”
“Always.”

coffee and hair dye (adrian chase x gn reader)
Pairing: Adrian Chase / Vigilante x GN Reader Summary: You’re dying your hair to match your suit color and Adrian wants you dye a bit of his hair to match yours. Word Count: 3.1k Tags: established relationship, reader-insert, gender-neutral pronouns, post-canon, idiots in love, mild smut, domestic fluff, comfort, fluff and smut A/N: this was inspired by Nadja and Laszlo and their matching hair from what we do in the shadows if you know what i’m referencing ily
~masterlist~ | >>>(read on ao3)<<<
Last night’s supposed "small" mission turned into a rather difficult and tiring one. Nothing went wrong, but the targets were far more skilled than research proved, and they kicked your asses. Then you guys kicked their asses. Though it was a rather fast fight, and you won, you all were roughed up and totally depleted. The complicated night prompted Emilia to generously give everyone the next night off. Well, all the bickering and complaining by the team in the van prompted Emilia to give the night off. And that bickering was worth it because you and Adrian finally have a night off together, you both haven’t had one in a very long time. Though you two were quite beaten up from the mission, you planned to make the best of it.
After sleeping until 11, you and Adrian felt the urge to get out of bed. He was making it hard to leave bed though, as his whole body was wrapped around yours, and his head was nuzzled perfectly in the back of your neck. Fortunately, it’s Saturday, you already had the day off from work. However, Adrian wasn’t so lucky and in fact had to go to Fennel Fields in a few hours.
You sigh, “I think we should get out of bed; you have work, maybe you can shower, and I’ll make us coffee?” you suggest. Adrian hummed into your neck.
“Babe,” he paused, his voice still raspy from sleep. He groaned as he lifted his arm away from you to grab his phone from the nightstand. He tapped the screen and put his phone to his ear, “I am not leaving this bed,” he raised his brows, you blushed while you turned over to fully face him. After a pause his eyes light up and he slightly cleared his throat, “Hey, this is Adrian, sorry, I won’t be able to make it today, I woke up with a horrible cold,” he adds in a few fake coughs, then slyly smiles, “I’ve thrown up a bunchhh too so, yeah… yup, thanks, bye!” He tapped his phone and gave you a wicked grin, you bit your lip.
“Okay, yeah, I’m glad you did that. I didn’t want us to get up right now either,” he kissed your forehead, “and you’re keeping me warm so, if you left, or we got up, I would be way too cold.”
“See now, we couldn’t let that happen,” Adrian purred and pulled you closer into his chest, you could feel the heat radiating off of him, you snuggle into it, “how are you feeling?” he asked, while gently twirling your hair through his fingers. You took a second to actually see how you felt, your body was tired but nothing really more than that was wrong.
“All right, achy everywhere though, I feel bruises already I think, you?” you look up at him, he meets your gaze, eyes still looking tired, he nods his head.
“I think I’m the same but,” he let out a deep huff, “I feel so relieved that I called out, so I’m not even thinking about the bruising my body is doing right now… Babe," he paused and a playful smile grew across his face, "we have a day off together!” You gasped, it’s been forever since you guys had a whole entire day off together, it only really happens when you get injured from missions, but you guys aren’t in too bad of shape from last night, it was a win-win.
“Waitttt we have to have some fun today, should we plan something, or should we not plan something and just see what happens today?” you ponder, he chuckles. “Oh, and since we both have time this morning, could you please help me re-dye my hair?” you smile and blink up at him.
“Of courseeeee, I love helping you do your hair! I am honored that you would like my help, babe.” Adrian beamed and your cheeks turned red at his smile. “Plus, you look so badass when you just dyed your hair like it’s so bright and, well… not that right now your hair isn’t badass, but,” he sighs, “you know what I mean, babe.” Before he could keep talking, you cupped his face with your palm, he smiled into your hand.
“Thanks, Ade. And I’m honored that you like helping me,” you replied. “Should I maybe go a little crazy and match the purple in my suit again? The pink that I have now could easily change into it… Ooh, yea, I’m going back to purple,” you state, Adrian was nodding his head enthusiastically.
“YES, babe it’s so hottt when your hair matches your suit, great idea!” he said, eyes wide.
“Thank you, thank you, now I'm definitely doing purple,” you lean up to peck Adrian on the lips, he returns the kiss with his tongue, which caused you to breath out a moan, he pulled you into his chest, his hand crawling up your back. You couldn’t resist moving one hand up to his head so you could run your fingers through his dark hair, the other hand gently scratching his bare back. You try to briefly pull away from him, but he doesn't let you until he gets in one more deep kiss, then he barely seperates himself from you, your lips brushing his.
“Instead of fucking right now, which I really want to do, I need to dye my hair early in the day, or I’ll never get it all done,” you pause, he groans in protest as he kisses your neck, “how about… you can fuck my brains out after my hair is purple?” you question, nudging his chin up so you could meet his eyes.
“Hmmm,” he goes in for another long kiss that made you shiver, then he slowly pulls away, “I guess you’re right, let’s be productive,” he paused to play with your hair once more, his green eyes lighting up from the morning sun. As he met your gaze, you saw something shift in his eyes, “but only if you dye some of my hair to match yours.” Adrian firmly states, voice deep, he was almost using his Vigilante voice. You couldn’t help the smile that grew onto your face, thinking about him with dyed hair. And then you really couldn’t help how turned on you were at the thought of his hair matching yours-and your suit. Heat immediately ran to your cheeks.
“Oh absolutely, fuck, let’s do it right now,” you twirl a strand of his hair, “that’s gonna be so fucking hot.” You kiss again before you both hype yourselves up to slink out of your cozy, toasty, bed.
“I’ll make us coffee while you get the dye stuff ready, babe!” Adrian stated, as you went to the bathroom to mix together some bleach and take stock of your purple dye-you luckily had plenty of purple left over from the last time you matched your suit, all you needed to do was mix a bit of blue to make it a perfect color match. You made a little extra bleach for Adrian, and you felt a bit giddy while picturing him having dyed hair, he has never ever done any kind of coloring to his beautiful dark hair, so you won’t do a lot, just a few strands under the back of his head. Just then, you heard the beep of your record player turning on and a moment later, “I Saw Her Standing There” by The Beatles began faintly playing, he threw on his Please Please Me record. You grinned; he always picks the best music.
“Perfect music choice honey,” you yell out to him as you stir the bleach with the brush. As you’re mixing, Adrian walks in with two cups of iced coffee, you both prefer iced over hot, and Adrian has mastered making lattes at home with a fancy coffee machine.
“Here you are, my love, order up,” he smiles as he hands you your glass, you take a sip and start slowly nodding your head in approval.
“Mwah it's perfect, thanks babe, I love having my own little at home barista,” you admit, the compliment caused him to blush. “Okay, I can start my roots, and all I’ll need help with is the back, and then I can do a bit of yours,” you tease, raising an eyebrow.
“Can’t wait, I’ll just enjoy the view while I sip on my coffee,” he hummed while smiling. All you were wearing was his t-shirt and a pair of his boxers, it just became a habit for you to steal his shirts, and that then lead to his boxers, and he doesn’t mind one little bit…if anything he encourages it. He eyed you up and down with feline eyes. Your cheeks turned rosy as you began sectioning your hair, preparing it for the bleach. You then threw on some gloves and got to work. Bliss fell over you while you listened to Adrian hum and sing to the music as you did your hair. It just made your heart feel warm. After a few minutes, you got to the back part of your head that was hard to see.
“All righty babe,” you turn to look at him, his eyes lit up.
“Yay okay let’s do this!” he clapped his hands and then put on a pair of gloves as well. With the brush in one hand, and his other hand helping to part your hair, he went in, and painted the bleach on the back of your head.
He always loves to help, and you really appreciate it because he’s really good at dying your hair. You enjoyed staring in the mirror to watch how concentrated he was, he was truly getting into it.
After a song or so he met your eyes in the mirror, you beamed. “And that’s that, babe, thanks for coming to my coffee-salon,” Adrian joked, you broke into a laugh, he chuckled as well.
“Pleaseeee, thank you for having me,” you turn around to press a kiss on his cheek, “but now, it’s my salon,” you firmly state, narrowing your brows, Adrian’s face turned bright red, but his eyes were fiercely watching yours.
“Oooh fuck yeah!” He exclaims, handing you the brush and cup of bleach, “this is gonna be so hot, but,” he bent down a bit as if to whisper, “it won’t be too much of my hair though, right?” he softly questions, you chuckle as you swap places with him.
“No babe, don’t worry,” you confirm, as you lean up and start to untangle a small part of hair on the back of his head, angling his head to make him look down so you could section it. You started making a section almost like an undercut, but just a small little square of hair. “I’ll just do this much, barely even a whole handful,” you show him in the mirror. “Your other hair will cover it and it’ll peak through-”
“YESS, that will look so fucking cool, I am so ready!” He squealed, you grinned as you part his hair and use one of your hair clips to keep his other hair out of the way. You then mixed the bleach one more time before applying it to his head, making an even layer on his dark hair.
It barely took one song to do all of it, but you finished applying the bleach, and to your surprise, his virgin hair was already taking to the bleach.
“Now we wait,” you step to stand next to him, the smile that was on his face was priceless. You then begin cleaning up the small mess you made in the bathroom, Adrian held up the trash can for you to throw your bleached gloves in and you start wiping up the counter. With one look in the mirror, you could tell your hair was already almost done, your roots weren’t too dark in the first place. His dark hair will probably take a bit longer. However, as you start cleaning, you noticed how much the bathroom needed more of a clean, so you take a breath and begin. You and Adrian sang along to the music as you cleaned, flipping the record shortly into your clean. You guys got into a rhythm and ended up tidying up more than either one of you intended to. You huffed, and Adrian caught your eye. “Well shit it looks great in here,” you say, smiling, he looked around the room.
“It really does! I don’t know what ghost possessed us to do that but I’m glad it happened,” Adrian joked, you nodded, chuckling. You step closer to Adrian and gently move his head so you can check his hair, it was blonde! A glance in the mirror told you your hair was ready to wash too.
“Well, apparently we cleaned long enough for the bleach to work, let’s wash, you first!” You say, he nods, eyes widening from excitement. He sets his glasses on the sink then bends down to kneel in front the tub with his head over the drain. Luckily your shower was a handheld one, so you took it off the mount and hover over him to begin washing his hair. He giggles as your fingers begin gently massaging his scalp and after swishing water through his hair, the bleach had washed out. You shut the shower and grab a towel for Adrian, his whole head got wet. You wrap the towel and tuck it in so it can firmly stay on his head to dry his hair. “It looks great blonde, honey.” You tell him.
“I can’t fucking wait to see it all finished, babe,” Adrian replied, you smiled as you two swapped places so he could help wash your hair. Adrian threw his glasses back on then began gently massaging your scalp, you hummed in content. “Aaannndddd done,” he said after a minute of washing, shutting the faucet and squeezing the water from your hair before placing a towel around your head. You properly wrap it and turn around to Adrian.
After drying your hair with the blow dryer, you repeat the dying process but with the mixed purple dye. Adrian’s handful of hair didn’t take long to color, then he ended up doing your whole head, teamwork makes the dreamwork! Once he declares your head is done, you both notice how hungry you are.
“Breakfast?” you asked, Adrian pursed his lips. Your stomach almost instantly growled at the thought of a meal. When you got home from the mission last night, though you weren’t beaten up too badly, you were still in pain, it was a miracle you guys didn’t pass out in your suits in bed, so yeah, you could both eat. He nods his head frantically. “Eggs and waffles?” You question.
“Let’s-a-go!” Adrian said in an Italian accent as he pumped his fist in the air, you cackle, what a dork. He leads the way to the kitchen and starts getting the eggs and the cheese from the fridge and waffles from the freezer. You notice that the music stopped, so before helping begin breakfast, you put on a different Beatles record and place the needle on. You hear a "Thanks, babe!" from Adrian as you enter the kitchen.
You two seamlessly make breakfast, splitting up tasks between you both. After a few short minutes, you had cheesy scrambled eggs and waffles, and while sitting at your small kitchen table, you shared breakfast with Adrian. It only took a few minutes to eat, but right as you finished your last forkful of eggs, you looked at your hair in your phone’s camera to see the dye showing through, it was time to wash!
You hum as you stand up and check the back of Adrian’s head, it already looks amazing, “Babe, let’s go washhhh,” you say, wavering your voice, he gasps.
“Oh, hell yeah!” Adrian exclaimed as he also stood up, you two began walking to the bathroom. You go right to the tub to turn on the shower and when you turn around you see Adrian, still shirtless, waiting like an excited puppy. You repeated the washing process for the last time, thank God, and began towel drying each other’s hair. Adrian was the first to get to the mirror, his hair has already practically dried, and even by slightly turning his head to the side he could see the streak of purple amongst his dark hair. He gasped. You grabbed the small mirror off the sink counter and held it up to the back of his head so he could get a proper view, all the while you were staring at his colored hair.
“Fucking hell, Ade, you look so hot with purple hair,” you say, gawking at him. His eyes were wide as he took in his hair in the mirrors, and you noticed that the purple in his hair complimented his green eyes beautifully. “I’m so glad your hair took to the dye!”
“Shit, me too, it looks, so fucking sick babe, I am so happy right now,” Adrian beams, turning to you, “thank you for helping me look more badass, babe.” He leaned down to press his lips to yours, you deeply return the kiss. He pulled away only a few inches, you felt his breath on your ear. “I may look a little more badass, but fuck-babe, you…you.” his voice lowered, “I’m gonna fuck you so hard you won’t be able to walk.” You gasped, he started playing with your hair in one hand, then he slides his other hand down your lower back. Adrian moved in fast and started kissing your neck.
“God, I-” He cut you off by moving his kisses up your neck, and farther up to meet your lips. You were honestly glad he interrupted you, you had nothing to say other than the moan that managed to escape from you. You were instantly on him, running your fingers through his hair and caressing his face. He hoisted you up and you wrapped your legs around his waist.
The two of you barely separated your lips, only for an occasional moan or swear from either of you. After a few moments, while still holding you, he moved you two to your bed, planting himself on top of you, putting his whole weight on you. You felt his boner immediately, you melted into him even more as heat ran to your cheeks. His hands were all over you, and you felt ravenous as your hands touched him.
It pained you but you had to pull away to say, “I should dye your hair more often.” All you heard in response was a deep belly laugh that erupted out of him-fuck you love him.
“I won’t say no to tha-” you didn’t let him finish speaking before leaning up and crashing your lips to his. The smile on his face faded the more he kissed you, he quickly became feral as he reciprocated your initial kiss, and more.

Summary:Adam wants to marry m!reader and asks him before going to battle the Hazbin Hotties
Warning: sad post
He left a halo shaped hole in my heart
You wake up as the warmth next to you is gone.
“Babe?” You call out.
You open your eyes and the first man is gone. You hear the shower running in the bathroom. You sigh and go lay on his pillow which smells just like him. You let out a yawn as you start to close your eyes once more.
“Hey babes do you know where my robe is?” you hear Adam ask
You open your eyes and look at the brunette. He’s standing there with a towel around his waist and his hair damp. My God does he look like a masterpiece as droplets run down his chest.
“No but you can bring that sexy ass back to bed.” You open your arms to the first man.
“Very tempting but I got to go kill these fuckers. Don’t you remember we moved up the fucking extermination? Gotta get these fucking bitches.” Adam says.
You sigh since you hate when he goes down to hell. You know he’s having some sort of beef with Lucifer’s daughter but you hoped for once he didn’t have to go with the exterminators. For once you wish he’d let Lute take charge and stay in heaven with you. You know your boyfriend is strong but always fear for his safety.
“Let me iron it before you go.” You get out of bed.
You are just wearing shorts and no shirt. Adam loves seeing you shirtless. He always tells you how divine your body is.
“fuck yeah that’s my sexy house husband.” Adam says before slapping your ass.
You look at him before pointing at your ringless finger.
“If you are going to call me your husband you better put a ring on it.” you inform him.
Adam grabs your hand and kisses it. He looks into your eyes lovingly.
“Babes you know I want to fucking marry you. You want to be the first man’s first husband? You going to claim the OG dick?” Adam asks
“First husband? Baby I’m going to be your only husband.” You smile at your boyfriend.
Sometimes you think he’s ridiculous but he’s yours and you wouldn’t want him any other way.
“How about when I come back we make it official?” Adam asks giving you that dashing smile of his.
“Wait, are you being serious Adam?” You ask shocked
“Fuck babe I want to marry you. Just say yes.” Adam says holding your hands in his.
He looks at you with those beautiful golden eyes. You can see worry flash his eyes since you are taking a second to process he wants to marry you. After two failed marriages he was ready for hopefully the last marriage.
“Yes Adam. I will marry you.” you answer before kissing his worries away.
He holds you close and deepens the kiss. His hands roam your body and you pull away. You wish you can stay in his arms all day.
“I’m going to iron your robe right now. Faster you finish down in hell the faster I get to marry you.” you smile at him
He gives you one more quick kiss before letting you go. You iron his robe happily making sure there is no wrinkles. Adam stands by watching you. He has a huge smile on his face. Adam has never had a healthy relationship until you. He thinks he finally got it right. He can’t wait to get back to you.
“okay all good. I love you Adam.” you smile at him.
“I love you too (y/n) so fucking much. I’ll show you how much when I come back. I promise” he said smirking
You smile and peck his lips and let him get ready. You plan on having a nice meal ready for him when he comes back since he’s always hungry when he returns.
After a few hours you are waiting for Adam. He should have been home already. You sigh and turn off the candles you lit. You run your hand through your hair. You hear a rapid banging at the door. That’s not Adam because he’ll usually slam open the door and make the most theatric entrance every time. You are so confused but you go and open it. You see a distraught Lute there. She’s missing an arm and you see blood on her. You have never seen fear in her eyes until today.
“Lute? what’s wrong? where’s Adam?” you ask looking around confused.
Then you notice it.His halo in her hand. Your heart sinks and you feel sick to your stomach.
“No.” you gasp
“I’m sorry, I-I let him down. That demon came out of nowhere.” Lute said tearing up.
You fall to the ground and let out the most heart breaking cry. Your one true love, he’s gone. You were suppose to marry that man. Lute looks at you and bends down to hug you. She promised Adam she’d look after you as he was dying. That’s why he smiled at her because he knew she’d keep her promise.

posting fic snippets out of a desperate need to feel something (that isn’t stress)
There are more real things to be stressed about, and then there are also things to be personally stressed about, like the camping trip I will be away chaperoning from Wednesday to Friday. I do not particularly love to be away from home or disruptions to my routine.
I had hoped to finish the fanfic I was working on before I left, because then I could just avoid my email inbox and my AO3 account and not constantly refresh to see if anyone decided to read my fic. But! That did not happen. It probably won’t happen because I still have the last scene to finish and those always take me too long.
I still want to share a little bit of fic though, so I think I’ll post some of the raw unedited text from today’s work. Nothing wrong with that, right?
Anyway have some post-university pre-second-chance-saraugust, I guess.
Usually driving home—or in this case, driving back to the temporary apartment she’s renting this week—is a way for Sara to decompress after long days on set. She can put on music or an audiobook, or call Simon and Felice. Sara wants nothing more than to recap the last ten hours to one of them, just so they can reassure her she isn’t overreacting. But Simon and Wilhelm are catching up with Rosh and Ayub over pizza and boardgames, and tonight is one of the nights Felice works late in her food truck.
Mamma? Things are better with Mamma lately, but she’d still tell Sara to not read too much into the directors’ and writers’ decisions. Pappa might understand better, if he’s sober, but Sara doesn’t want to reach out unless she’s certain he is.
What is she thinking? It’s not like she can go too far into the behind-the-scenes details of Age of Liberty, anyway, since the production team made her sign an NDA, and that means no venting.
When Sara returns to her temporary rental, the kitchen lights are too bright. They’re the same lights as yesterday, so she must be overstimulated. She flicks them off and on a few times trying to decide if she can stand them, before she finally lets the square yellow light of the microwave faintly illuminate the room instead. Then, Sara scrolls through her phone as the starchy, comforting smell of pasta fills the air.
Instagram provides the usual array of photographic distractions: the girls’ football team Rosh coaches, the award-winning hibiscus cake from Felice’s dessert menu, the too many ads for hair care products and earplugs and soft clothing and tropey novels. That’s mixed in with occasional news articles about climate change, as well as infographics from other neurodivergent influencers with bullet points about masking or proprioception or social scripts. Sara lets the images blur before her eyes and the letters in usernames turn into meaningless shapes, until a familiar expression—one that habitually holds back grief—causes her thumb to finally stop swiping.
It’s the official instagram of the Crown Prince of Sweden. August’s most recent post shows him working at a desk, head bowed over a neat stack of papers. He’s gripping a pen and wearing glasses, but he isn’t writing on the paper. The glasses are new and make him look serious. To his left is a tablet-sharped therapy light. That’s even newer, and it washes August’s face in a muted silver glow. Sara wonders if anyone will recognize the light’s true purpose.
Then she reads the caption: As the hours of daylight grow shorter, many Swedes show increased symptoms of depression. Don’t forget to spend time outdoors, and reach out to your medical provider if you are experiencing persistent low moods or feelings of hopelessness. Take care.
The microwave beeps as Sara reaches the last two words of the post. She puts her phone away as she extracts her pasta and sits down at the table to eat. After an initial few bites, her mind fills up with questions. Is the post meant to be a simple public health message? Or is there a more personal meaning behind it?
She shouldn’t be ruminating this much when August is her ex, and for good reasons, but after a long day—one where Sara’s surroundings had her thinking about August anyway—can she really help it?
After Sara moves her empty pasta bowl to the sink, she returns to her phone. The photo has disappeared from her feed when she opens the app again, which doesn’t surprise her. When Sara navigates over to the Crown Prince’s official account, however, the photo isn’t there either.
Someone had it deleted. Probably some social media manager who works for the royal court.
The palace loves it when you promote sympathetic causes, Wilhelm once told Sara. As long as the sympathetic cause you promote has no connection to you whatsoever.

Fairytale Keeper's Final Assessment SE:
Jude Jazza's POV Chapter 1 ཐིཋྀ
Fan translation only. Not 100% accurate. Please expect grammatical errors. Cybird owns everything. Feel free to re-blog, but please do NOT post my translations elsewhere. Translation notes are marked with *** Alternate translation is marked with/// Hour Glass Banners Credit: @/natimiles ཐིཋྀ
(The Crown forced a woman who just happened to witness an assassination into an unfair contract.)
(And that Bitch, her Majesty the Queen keeps ordering her to accompany us on missions.)
(And this woman herself, who is so stubborn that she will follow you no matter how many times she gets herself in trouble.)
(I too, tried to test her guts at some point.)
Everything about it is disgusting.
(So I'll end it right here and now.)
Victor: You will spend the day with her. Then sign here at the end of the day.
Victor: What happens if you don't agree?
Victor: At that point, we’ll say goodbye to Kate. Oh, and please keep all of this a secret from Kate.
(I wondered what the hell he was doing calling people out this early in the morning.)
(Fairytale Keeper Continuation Agreement. Ha….stupid.)
Why are you doing this now, don't force this kind of thing on people.
Even if I open my mouth I could be subjected to a number of criticisms though.
I thought to myself as I stared at this shitty consent form.
(Maybe this will put an end to our relationship with that woman.)
Jude: I kind of know whatcha wanna do.
Jude: But the last condition is unacceptable.
Victor: You mean the part about keeping the existence of this consent form a secret from her?
Jude: I don't like sneaking around behind peoples backs without lettin’ ‘em know that they're involved.
Jude: Hey, Victor. I gave ya information and helped Crown once, right?
Jude: Ya haven't paid my information fee yet.
Victor: No way! I gave exactly what you asked for, because you're scary.
Jude: I'm still owed for the interest. But that's all right, we'll call it even.
Victor: Eh.
Jude: I’ll tell Kate everything. Then I’ll kick her out and that’ll be the end of it.
Victor: Hmm. I thought you'd say that since you're a hot-blooded person.
As I turn my back on Victor, who is grumbling, and start to walk away, a voice comes flying in.
Victor: Jude! Spend a day with Kate and assess her. You must comply with this.
(Ridiculous…..)
I headed to the common room and found Isla and Ellis frolicking in front of the arsenal of weapons that that freak was collecting.
Kate: Ellis, this pistol is shaped so that bullets can’t be inserted into it.
Ellis: It's not a real gun, it's a replica.
Ellis: It used by replacing this gun with the opponent's gun or pretending it is a real gun.
Kate: I see.….It looks like it can be used in many ways!
(What are you talking about?)
Kate: Oh, Jude!
Ellis: Oh, Jude. Welcome home.
Ellis: You were called by Her Majesty and Victor. What were you talking about?
As I tossed down the fairy tale keeper continuation agreement, Kate's eyes followed the text, and then her eyes widened.
Jude: To spend the day with and assess ya.
Kate: You’re the one to sign this consent form, Jude?
Kate: So, as long as you sign the consent form, I can continue, right Jude?
Jude: If ya look at the text, you’ll understand.
Ellis: Why Jude? I guess because he’s the most difficult.
Jude: I don't know. If ya have any complaints, tell that Queen's freak aide.
Kate: Do you want to continue as a Fairytale Keeper? Or quit here and leave Crown?
Ellis: What do you want, Kate?
Kate looks up and says in a clear voice.
Kate: I want to continue being a fairy tale keeper.
Kate: I think there is still a lot I can do with Crown.
(An immediate answer).
When she finished speaking, Kate turned her annoying eyes on me.
Kate: Jude, please sign the agreement for me to continue as a Fairytale Keeper!
Jude: If they had asked for my permission and I had said yes, then I wouldn’t have confronted ya in the first place.
Jude: I'm against your continuing as Fairytale Keeper, and I'm against your staying here.
Kate: I thought you’d say that Jude…..
Kate: But I'll never give up. I'll keep fighting until the end, until I get your signature.
Jude: Really? Do as ya please.
Jude: You’re leaving today anyway. Your playing with gifts of the underworld.***
Ellis: If you're happy to continue as a fairytale keeper, I'll help you.
Kate: Thank you, Ellis!
(Shit…..everyone is siding with Kate.)
Ellis: What would make you want to sign it Jude?
Jude: Think for yourself.
Kate: I think it's important that I'm not a distraction to you and that I'm useful to you Jude.
Ellis: Ah, then.
She took us out into the garden and suggested that we have a sparring match.
I guess she wants to prove that she won't be a hindrance even if she accompanies us on a mission, and that she can fight satisfactorily.
(Pointless…..)
I have no reason or time to look at something like this.
But going out with them is just a way to buy time until the end of this useless day called today.
Ellis: Isla, I’ll be your partner.
Kate: Yes, please don’t hesitate.
Kate: Jude, please watch properly.
Kate and Ellis begin to spar, as expected, it looked like a fixed match, like a cat playing with something.
Jude: What are ya showing me? Ellis, if you're going to go easy on her, don't.
Ellis: But…
Kate: It’s my fault for asking Ellis, who is so kind to me.
Kate: Jude, would you spar against me?
Jude: What, I'm just gonna letcha die, and that'll be the end of it?
Kate: Yep.
Jude: Hmmm, let's do it then.
Facing Kate, we made eye contact.
Kate randomly threw some punches and tried to land some light kicks, but I dodged them.
Kate: I thought you’d come in with a kicking technique, Jude.
Jude: Eh, is that what you’re watching? But your back is open.
I go behind Kate and tighten my arms around her.
Kate: Ah…..***
Instantly, Kate bent down and slipped out of my arms.
(You did it…..)
(But you’re getting too carried away.)
I grabbed Kate’s arm and swept her legs, pinning her to the ground.
Kate: Ah…..***
I glared at Kate at a distance where the tips of our noses touched.
(Ha…….Really, not good.)
(Her eyes.)
[Next] [Master List]
***I'm 99.9% sure this second sentence is incorrect. I have no idea what he meant by this, and I spent forever researching this line. But I assume he meant since she's leaving, so is her playtime with the gifts from the underworld AKA the Crown members. It doesn't have a huge bearing on the story, so take it with a grain of salt.
***When they are sparring, Kate uses 'tsu' つ, (not to be confused with the little っ 'tsu', which is silent.). I changed to this to 'Ah', since I wasn't sure how to translate the noise she was making as Jude was grabbing her both times, and it would look weird with 'tsu' written.

I’ll be honest, while it make make sense for the MC’s recovery, as an adult reader I’d be pretty uncomfortable reading about a child being put in diapers and/or soiling themself in detail. It’d be a huge turnoff for me and I don’t think I would continue to read. Just in general my personal preference as a reader is to lean away from anything that infantilizes the MC more. On one hand, I recognize that their circumstances would mean they’re not on a typical developmental pathway compared to other 7-8 year olds. On the other hand, I think your writing already does an excellent job of capturing that while still doing justice to the MC’s age. They feel like a traumatized 7-8 year old who’s immature and confused because of what happened to them, not a 3 year old, is what I’m saying. I guess just personally I think a diaper or pacifier would sort of ruin that characterization for me, I’d much rather prefer the MC to gain some agency by learning how to navigate the bathroom on their own via wheelchair or rely on more age-appropriate toys for comfort. That said, these are just all my own thoughts as a single reader. Obviously other readers disagree with these preferences, and ultimately I respect that it’s your choice as the author to have final say about what does/doesn’t go. My point isn’t to try to threaten you with a loss of readership— I just want to express my own perspective and ultimately it’s your choice to make! I am really invested in this story and quite enjoy your writing, so I also trust that you know what’s best for your work.
Thank you for these thoughts. I appreciate it. This is valuable feedback and info about reader preferences, even if it is just one person :D I have a feeling you are hardly alone here.
The long post queue allows me time to think, but I don't really go back and edit my answers which are the immediate thoughts most of the time :D That would take a lot of extra time. This however, I think I will let jump the queue because I did say I would get back to you all on this and I think it is better addressed earlier on. And for me it has been several days.
I am willing to consider all suggestions, and appreciate receiving them (at least so far :D) but ultimately it is up to me to decide what I believe to be appropriate or what fits. I retain the right to always change my mind and thoughts mature over time. And here, I agree with you. A pacifier or diapers is not something I see happening in the story, even as an optional extra. Why? Because as you said, MC is immature and very confused but 7-8 years old.
Something to fiddle with? Yes, that could happen. Some kind of chewing necklace? Perhaps. I have been googling and indeed such things are available for older children and even adults. Sensory necklaces/toys I think they are called. For example in the shape of just a tube, or something that look vaguely like a fang. Age appropriate toys? Absolutely. Cool magical toys? Even better. I would be happy to hear ideas about those.
A "gift" from a totally out of touch "grandpa" that thinks giving a child something like a magical suit of armor is a good thing? That gets confiscated by Havard due to property damage? Absolutely... I wonder if there is a way to write random events... I'll look into it. This is btw, something I came up with just now. It is not something I have planned.
A "bathroom arc"? No. After a brief bit of thinking, I don't really want to write it at all so I won't. And I have a feeling that many people would not like reading it if I did force myself to do that. A comment in passing about odd bathrooms are for MC? Sure, that sounds fine to me, but leaving the gritty grimy reality-checks for something else is probably better.
This is all basically flavor text, which is one of the better aspects of interactive fiction but does not need to have a significant effect on the plot :D I want to accommodate reader preferences and offer up a pretty good level of choice, but there is still an overall direction I want to go.

down by the river - chapter 1
Raphael x Warlock!Tav
A/N: Imma be honest that I don't know where I'm going with this. Had the idea for a long time and then got inspired by a reddit post and a few things said in a server. Also, there will probably be a second chapter.
Read on AO3
Chapter 2
While Tav was taking her precious time looting the corpses of their fallen foes, Astarion gathered the others around.
“What a strange leader we have, don’t you think?”
“What do you mean?” Shadowheart asked.
“I mean, she barely speaks to anyone about anything, when we try to ask her about her life, she shuts off. I mean, I have my doubts that ‘Tav’ is even her real name!” Astarion said. “Besides, she has that…weird… writing on her collarbone that looks like a burn scar that no one can figure out what it means.”
The cleric looked at Tav, who was far away and with her back turned towards them. “Well, we all have our secrets. I know I have mine.” Then, she addressed Astarion. “However, I will say, I don’t even know what her…deal is.”
“Deal?” The vampire asked.
“You know. You’re a rogue, I’m a cleric, Wyll’s a warlock, but Tav…”
At that moment, Wyll put his head in between the two of them. “I think it’s best if you leave the gossip for later.” He motioned forwards with his chin. “Tav’s coming.”
They tried not to look suspicious, each looking in another direction. Tav eyed them with a raised brow.
“Ah Tav, finally done turning every stone you could find?” Astarion asked. She merely grumbled and turned towards Wyll.
“We will go find that devil you need to kill.” Tav said, and began walking away. The three eyed each other and followed along.
Later that night, now with Karlach in tow, the group was visited by Mizora, who punished her warlock for not keeping his part of the deal. Before the she-devil left, she turned towards the leader.
“Oh and dear Tav, I would keep both of my eyes very open.” She smirked. “Your master is looking for you.” Engulfed in flames, the cambion left the party alone and filled with questions.
There was silence all around, only the crinkling of the fire being heard, as everyone turned to look at Tav, who had anger written across her face.
Finally, Karlach spoke. “What…the…fuck.”
“So. Do you have anything you’d like to tell us, Tav?” Astarion asked, having daggers shot in his direction.
“No.” Tav replied dryly. She sighed. “I’ll go to sleep now. I’d recommend everyone do the same.” She turned her back on the group, gathered her things and laid on her bedroll. The others shared confused and worried looks, but most shrugged and moved on.
Tav closed her eyes, almost immediately falling into a dream. In it, she saw herself, alongside her companions. It was night and they were near a river, the moon shining above them. There was a figure, waist-deep inside the body of water, surrounded by weird, hook like shapes that turned into fish.
Tav waved a hand, setting the water ablaze. She entered the river and walked towards the person. After the flames had died down, Tav looked around and then glanced at a familiar face she knew all too well.
The face of the devil who had saved her many years ago. Whom had burned his name onto her skin. He looked at her and smirked.
Tav woke up, the mark on her collarbone burning. She breathed rapidly, placing a hand where it hurt and whispered
“Raphael.”

LIGHT SWITCH
pairing : jude bellingham x reader
requests are open!!
word count: 472 (this is short lol)
summary: after being stood up time and time again, you finally give up on Jude.
warnings: cussing, angst
“IM SICK OF us being on and off like a fucking light switch!” She yelled, throwing her hands down. She gazed into Jude’s dark brown eyes which mirrored her own, large glistening pools about to overfill with tears. She could almost make out her own reflection in them, knowing that he could probably make himself out in hers.
“I’m sorry,” Jude replied, his voice quivering. Like a crackling fire, his voice was on the verge of fading into a faint whisper. His fingers clenched tightly into balled fists, fingernails digging crescent shaped wounds into his palm.
He watched as the girl he had loved since 12th year stared at his hands, then subconsciously tucked them behind his back. Flexing them to make sure there was still circulation.
“Jude I don’t want to do this,” She said, this time her voice slower and softer, comparatively gentle to the harsh words she had spoke just a few moments before. “But I have to, because I don’t want you to think that leaving me in front of restaurants and theatres time after time again, alone- is okay. And-”
“Y/n please,” Jude interrupted, his entire being was pleading, he would’ve dropped to his knees if she wanted him to. “I have loved you since i was 17, and I know at times I seem like a complete idiot, and I know for a fact I don’t deserve you. But I love you, Y/n L/n. I love you. And I’ll be damn stupid to let you leave. You are wonderful, and you are astoundingly smart,you are everything any man wants, and could ask for. But most of all, you are you. You are the girl who inspires me to change, you are the girl who I look forward to seeing every second of the day, and you are the person who not only makes people their best selves, you are the person who makes me, me. Y/n please just stay, I’ll make everything up to you, I’ll-”
This time it was Y/n who interrupted Jude, she had-had enough. She couldn’t take anymore before she would cave. One more word of his monologue and she would’ve folded before him and she’d have been the one begging for forgiveness.
“Jude,” Y/n began, and his sweet doe eyes lit up with hope,
“No,”
The light in his eyes vanished and the sound of his breath hitching filled the silence.
“Goodbye, Jude,” She said, the tears which she had held at bay for so long finally slipping down her face, and slowly but quite noticeably the tears multiplied. One tear became another, and suddenly her cheeks were streaked with warm salty drops. She quickly realized, and wiped what she could off, before whipping around and beginning to walk away.
And as much as she hated admitting it, she had hoped Jude would’ve stopped her.
do you guys want pt 2? feel free to send me suggestions!!

I was desperate for OC art and the wonderful @mimikusu agreed to an art trade. Here is the fic I wrote for Simon and Niko, based on this prompt they posted around Christmas last year. This was a treat to write and such a fun exchange. Thank you Mimi, and I hope you enjoy your fic!!
All The Way Home I'll Be Warm
“I don’t know why I put up with you, Nikolai,” Simon grumbled to himself as he threw his bags down in the hotel room he had just checked into. “You’re more trouble than you’re worth, I swear.” He huffed to the window and glared at the snowflakes drifting down, scrubbing angrily at his dripping nose. The town below was already bustling with life as the Christmas market prepared to open. Colored lights, pine boughs, red and green decorations, and what looked like hundreds of merchant stalls spread out as far as the eye could see. Simon rubbed his eye, behind which a headache was already forming. He groaned, coughed, and tried to blow his nose, but it was stopped tight with congestion.
“I hate these damn festivals,” Simon growled. “Why the hell Niko loves them so much I’ll never know. God, I wish I could cancel. I already feel like shit. But he would think I’m just making excuses. Ugh.”
He let his head fall into his hand as he continued to glare out the window. He missed Niko so much, and that was the only reason he was here right now. Simon had been traveling for work nearly all of December, and it seemed like he had hardly seen his boyfriend. In a few days they would leave to see their families for the holidays, so this was their only chance to spend time together. Niko had been begging to go to this damn Christmas market for months, and Simon had finally caved and booked the hotel and flights, though he made sure to complain the whole time about the expense, and how foolish these markets were. It made Niko so unbelievably happy, though, and that was what Simon wanted in the end.
However, Simon hadn’t accounted for catching a cold at the end of his last business trip. The weeks of travel and little sleep had caught up with him, and this was shaping up to be a monster of a cold. He already had a sinus headache and a nasty sore throat, and the buzzing high up in his nose told him he would be sneezing his brains out in no time. Walking around outside in the cold, surrounded by thousands of people and bright lights and smells sounded like absolute hell. Yet Niko would be arriving any moment, ready for a weekend of Christmas cheer, and Simon couldn’t bear to disappoint him now, though he would rather do just about anything else.
“God, I’m so tired,” Simon yawned, thinking of the exhausting night ahead. “I could fall asleep here on the floor. I truly don’t know how I’m going to survive tonight.”
Yet he knew he would have to find a way. If nothing else, he wouldn’t let the expense of this trip be wasted by getting sick. This was Niko’s Christmas present, and he would get his money’s worth, everything else be damned. With a heavy sigh, Simon went to change out of his traveling clothes and into warm things suitable for a night outside. When he bent over his suitcase, though, the itch in his nose flared up into the need to sneeze. He just barely had time to press a tissue to his nose before: “HA’ISSHIEW! Hihh–HIPSHH! hhe–ESHIEW!! Ugh, that’s disgusting,” Simon groaned, trying not to look at the mess in the tissue. His nose wanted to keep sneezing, but he roughly pinched and rubbed it until the urge subsided. Just as he threw away the used square, his phone dinged with a text from Niko saying he was waiting in the lobby. Simon quickly finished changing, then went down to meet him, fiercely scrubbing at his nose to quell the itch that was already building up again.
Niko was practically dancing with excitement in the lobby, dressed in a gaudy Christmas sweater and ridiculous hat that made him look adorable.
“Oh Simon, it's so beautiful outside! I can’t wait for you to see it. It’s just magical! Oh I’m so happy to be here with you! Come on let’s go, there’s so much we have to see!”
“Don’t you want to drop your bag off in the room first?” Simon grunted, trying to hide the congestion and hoarseness in his voice.
“Oh, right. I guess we can do that really quickly. But let’s not waste any time!” Niko ran back up the stairs that Simon had just come down, not even waiting to hear the room number. With a tired groan, Simon turned to follow. It was going to be a long night.
~~~
It was exactly as miserable as Simon predicted. The cold air made his nose start dripping immediately, and it didn’t stop the whole night, so he was perpetually wiping his nose every time Niko’s back was turned, and his upper lip was raw and stinging in no time. The cold air seemed to pierce through all his layers, and he found himself shivering right away, though he kept his arms locked by his sides so Niko wouldn’t notice. The noise of the crowds and cheering and music made him want to curl up on the ground and cover his ears. The flashing, twinkling, spinning lights reflecting off of everything felt like daggers going through his eyes straight to his brain. Worst of all were the smells, though. Food, perfume, smoke, pine, candles, feathers, dust, animals, incense– everywhere he turned, something else was assaulting his nose and making his breath hitch into almost-sneezes every other moment. Many times the irritation was too much, and he was forced to stifle the resulting expulsion into his scarf, hoping Niko didn’t notice. If his partner was far enough away, Simon would allow himself to sneeze messily into the sleeve of his coat, hoping for some small relief, but with each sneeze he felt worse, not better.
Predictably, Niko wanted to stop at nearly every booth, even if it was exactly the same as the five booths they had just visited. The postman delighted over every trinket and costume and overpriced souvenir as if he had never seen one like it, and Simon had to refrain from rolling his eyes constantly, mainly because rolling his eyes made his headache worse. The only thing that helped was the mulled wine and hot spiked cider. These were the only stalls Simon asked to stop at, and from the beginning, Niko was puzzled.
“You’re having wine? I thought you said it gives you a bad hangover?”
“I’m trying to get into the holiday spirit like you’ve been insisting, Niko!” he snapped. “Tonight I’d like a hot drink, and I think wine sounds nice. Do you have a problem with that?”
“Not at all. I just think you’re very confusing sometimes,” Niko said, shaking his head with a smile.
As soon as he would finish one mug, Simon would order another, desperate for the warmth in his hands and stomach, and he quickly lost count of how much he drank. It helped the shivering though, and numbed some of the other miseries, and he was glad for it. By the middle of the evening the exhaustion from travel and illness finally faded into comfortable drunkenness. He was happy enough to watch Niko run around and exclaim and delight over everything, like a butterfly between flowers. The postman spent far too much money, and soon he was laden down with shopping bags, but he said again and again that this was the perfect night, so Simon let him have his fun, just happy to be with him. In spite of himself, Simon had to admit the night was pretty, with the snow gently falling and the tangible Christmas cheer. He could see why some people enjoyed such things.
As the evening waned, Simon’s nose couldn’t take any more stifling, or else he was too drunk to care anymore, so he began to sneeze more openly. At first Niko laughed and thought it was cute.
“hihhgg’KIHPTCHoo! Kih’IHT’CHOO!”
“Bless you, Simon! Are you feeling alright? That’s your third sneeze in as many minutes,” Niko chuckled, running a thumb under his partner’s eye to catch a stray tear.
“I’mb fine,” Simon croaked. “It’s all the incense and cold air. And someone is smoking hookah nearby I think.” He coughed to accentuate his point.
“If you’re sure. Then let’s go over to the figurines instead to get away from the incense.”
Soon, though, Niko began to realize something was amiss.
“EhhHEHTCHHoo! Ehh–EHHIXTCHOO!!”
“God, Simon, that sounded awful. Are you coming down with something? Your nose is as red as a Christmas bulb.”
“Maybe I’m allergic to Christmas. I told you coming here was a bad idea.”
“No one is allergic to Christmas, crabby grinch. There is a lot of smoke around here, though. Maybe that’s your trouble. Let’s go over here. I think you should eat something anyway, to go along with all the wine.”
“If you insist, nurse,” Simon mumbled, unable to care about anything at this point. He allowed Niko to seat him at a filthy wooden table and place a huge plate of food in front of him, far more than he could ever eat even on his best day. He gamely munched on a few bites of everything, though he was the opposite of hungry. He was unable to taste anything, and had to take small bites because he couldn’t breathe through his nose, but seeing him eat made Niko smile, and that was all Simon cared about.
While Simon was still “eating” (mostly just pushing the food around on his plate), Niko excused himself to the restroom. Simon immediately put down his fork and laid his head on his arms, telling himself he would rest for just a moment and give his aching eyes a break.
He woke some time later to Niko shaking his shoulder.
“Simon, dear, wake up. Poor thing, you really are exhausted aren’t you? Why didn’t you say something earlier? Come on, let’s go back to the hotel. We can always see more tomorrow.”
“If you’re sure,” Simon croaked. He wanted to tell Niko that they could stay out as long as he liked, but in truth he was near collapse and going back to the hotel to curl up in bed with his boyfriend was the only thing he wanted now. As they meandered their way back to the hotel through crowds of strangers, Niko slipped his hand into Simon’s. Because he needed the extra stability, and because no one was close enough to see them, for once Simon didn’t pull away. However, he was caught in an awkward situation, because just as their steps fell into sync, Simon knew he had to sneeze. His tissues were in the pocket of the hand holding Niko’s, so Simon was forced to press his palm to his nose to catch the messy fit that followed:
“Kihht’CHOO! Err’IZZSOO! hihh–HihhEHTCHOO! EHHTTCHOO!! Hhh– hehhh– HehhEHHTCHOOOO!!”
Simon hastily wiped his hand on his pants, thankful it was too dark to see much as he mumbled an apology to Niko.
“Bless you, Simon! You need to get out of the night air, I think. I’m worried you’re coming down with something.”
“I’ll be fine when we get back inside,” Simon said with a cough. His chest hurt from stifling so many sneezes all night, and coughing made it sear with pain, even though he hadn’t had a cigarette all night.
“You’re taking a hot shower as well. I can feel you shivering,” Niko scolded. “You should have told me you were cold. You’re so stubborn.”
“Not as stubborn as you. Anyway, you were having fun. I didn’t want to spoil the evening.”
“As long as I’m with you, I don’t care what else we’re doing. So let’s get you warm and in bed where I can take care of you properly.”
“Is that a threat?” Simon asked, raising an eyebrow with a smirk.
“Only if you want it to be,” Niko said with a wicked look of his own.
As it turned out, Simon wasn’t up for anything after he took a shower. As soon as he stepped out of the hot water he started shivering and couldn’t stop, even when Niko wrapped him in a robe, then a blanket. He also had a splitting headache, no doubt the beginning of the wine hangover he sensed was coming. As he lay groaning in bed, with plenty of sniffling and coughing on top of it all, he felt Niko come to stand behind him and press a hand to his forehead.
“Why didn’t you tell me you had a fever?” Niko tutted, placing a cold rag on Simon’s forehead before crawling in beside him and pulling the other man against his chest.
“I didn’t know I was,” Simon muttered. “It must have started recently. The cold from hell is turning into the flu I guess.” He felt warmer right away with Niko in the bed, and slowly his shivers subsided. He didn’t even realize he had accidentally admitted his illness until the other man replied:
“I was a fool to let you stay out when I knew you were sick. You never sneeze so much unless you have a cold, and you were sneezing almost every minute. Not to mention all the wine. Though I think you’re already regretting that,” he added as Simon shifted the rag from his forehead to cover his eyes instead with a moan.
“I was just trying to give you what you wanted. I don’t want to hear any more about it,” Simon snapped. “I’m only sorry this damn flu ruined our trip. All that time and money for nothing.”
“Nothing is ruined,” Niko soothed, tucking the blanket closer around them both. “We’re still together aren’t we? All alone in a hotel room for three days. There’s nothing more I could hope for.”
“I’m going to get you sick for the holidays though,” Simon spat. “You’d be better off to leave now and save yourself.”
“I’m not going anywhere, crabby. Someone has to take care of you.” He began to run his fingers through Simon’s hair, and Simon relaxed, immediately forgetting what they were arguing about under the haze of fever, exhaustion and alcohol. His heavy eyes fell closed and in moments he was nearly asleep in Niko’s warm embrace.
“That’s right, go to sleep. I’ll be right here,” Niko whispered. The last thing Simon felt before he slept was the press of gentle lips to his hair and a warm hand rubbing the aches from his chest.
Tales of Seven Stars: The Sixth Ring
Chapter 2: Into the Unknown But Make It Epic
Trix Week day 6
Prompt: Cannon Divergent
@trixweek @bellatrixobsessed1
And now let's see if 4799 words fit into a Tumblr post
“Let’s make this quick.” Jade whispered.
Her and Daisy crept through one of the many corridors of Alfea, pitch-dark at this time of night. They both carried backpacks: the witch’s one was leather and dark brown, and the fairy had one made from lilac fabric.
“Fine.” Daisy nodded hesitantly.
“So, the only entrance is at Faragonda’s office; I’ve checked twice.” The witch whispered.
Daisy swallowed nervously.
“It’s forbidden for students to go there when she’s out.”
“Don’t you worry, she’ll never know.” Jade assured her. “And even if she will, we’ll put all the blame on the witch trio.” She winked.
“I can’t lie, you know that.” The girl sighed.
“I can. And stop worrying; no one has noticed us yet.”
“I’ll try.” Daisy gave her friend a weak smile. “That’s it.” She stopped in front of one of the doors. “Here’s the office.”
“Let’s see” Jade opened the door with the spell, and the girls came into the darkness of the empty office.
“The mirror should serve as an entrance.” Jade looked around. “Oh, found it.” She went towards a big mirror hanging on the wall.
Daisy wanted to walk closer, but Jade stopped her.
“Wait! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was surrounded with some kind of protection spell.”
The witch herself made a few steps forward.
“I don’t feel any trail, but still, it’s a powerful magic object.” She finally concluded. “I’ll try to open the passage anyway. Dark Key!”
No sooner had the spell reached the mirror, the latter started shaking intensely.
“Curses, it’s the secure system!” Jade jumped back. “Nightmare paralysis!”
The mirror stopped.
“Fine.” Jade exhaled, looking around. “It seems we haven’t awakened anyone. Now let’s see.” She came back to the mirror and repeated the spell. “Dark key!”
The silvery surface moved away, finally opening the passage to the Hall of Enchantments. The two girls went in and soon stood in an immense hall, surrounded by numerous bookshelves.
“Where are we going to start looking?” Daisy asked.
“I wonder that, too.” Jade murmured, closing her eyes. “There’s so much positive energy, it’s hard to concentrate.”
“I can start over there.” The fairy suggested, pointing to one of the closest bookshelves, but the teen shook her head:
“We need a searching spell.”
“But you don’t know what this map looks like.”
“Stop taking imbeciles as an example and think outside the box.” Jade opened the eyes and smirked. “The map was created by the Ancestral Fairies, which possessed the greatest power in the whole dimension. So, the map should be pretty powerful, too.”
“I still don’t get what you’re going to do.”
“You’ll see in a second.” The witch stretched her hand forward. “Vacuum!”
A shamrock-green narrow bottle, shaped like the letter "J," appeared above her palm and almost immediately floated forward.
“I’m starting to understand.” Daisy noted.
“Awesome, right?” The teen gave her a contented smile. “This thing should lead us straight to the map.”
The witch and the fairy followed the vacuum and soon found themselves at the farthest corner of the Hall. The bottle stopped near one of the bookshelves, rose some meters in the air, and stopped. Jade followed it. Daisy stayed on the floor since she couldn’t fly.
“Found it!” The teen exclaimed after a few moments of searching, waving a piece of parchment in her hand. “There’s also the book about...” The witch interrupted herself mid-sentence as her ears caught a faraway yet loud rumble.
Jade gasped:
“Curses, the paralysis spell faded.” She grabbed the map and several books. “Let’s go, D!” The teen flew to the exit, clasping the books and the map to herself.
They rushed to the exit. The floor vibrated under the feet, and the bookshelves shook fiercely, ready to fall down, so Jade, still in the air, had to be extra careful.
“There it is!” Jade flew to the exit, just to find a bare wall at the end of the corridor. “Shoot, it’s locked!”
Daisy squeaked.
“Dark Key!” The witch shut the spell towards the wall, but it didn’t make even a scratch. “Dark Key! Oh, come on!” She hit her fist against the wall.
The fairy watched the teen with her eyes widening with fear.
“Fine, you had it coming.” Jade’s eyes lit up with bright green light.
The air around the witch started sparkling with magical energy.
“Fire of Destruction!” Jade roared, stretching her hand towards the blocked exit.
Acid-green flames erupted out of her palm, cracking the wall and crashing it into small pieces.
The light in Jade’s eyes vanished, and the two girls ran out of the shaking hall.
As soon as they reached the office, Jade grabbed Daisy’s hand, panting:
“Let’s get out of here!”
The witch murmured a teleportation spell, and both girls disappeared with nothing but green sparkles left in the shaking cabinet.
***
“Do we still have to wait for them?” Stormy moaned. “I’m bored!”
Three witches had already arrived at the place. The bright rays of the full moon lit up the large clearing in the centre of Gloomywood. The trees, on the other hand, cast jet-black shadows on the grass below them, so the whole forest seemed to be drowned in void. The fireflies, normally flying around, were now absent, and instead, a tensing silence took place; even the wind, rustling the leaves, didn’t make any noise.
“Shut up!” Darcy hissed at her sister. “We’ve been waiting just for half an hour.”
“That’s long enough! Let’s give this up!”
“No, we won’t!” Icy stopped examining her nails and spun around. “I’ve never seen such an amazing power, and I won’t let it slip through my fingers!”
Suddenly, a flash of green light burst out of nowhere, and Jade emerged nearby, with Daisy following.
“At last!” Icy came closer. “So? We’re waiting.”
“You’ll have to wait a minute longer, then.” The teen took off her backpack and unzipped it. “Because your word is not enough for me.”
“And what else do you need?” The witch of ice frowned.
“A contract.” Jade drew the book with a dark cover out of her rucksack and pulled out the piece of paper hidden among the pages. “Signed by all three of you. Only after that, I'll tell you everything you need to know.”
Icy took the contract and looked through it:
“Do you really expect us to sign that?” She threw the paper away. “And I’m pretty sure that your so-called plan to get the power isn’t worth anything.”
“All right.” Jade caught the contract with the spell. “You’re free to choose.”
“The only thing we came here for,” Icy continued, “is your fairy friend’s power.”
Daisy gasped and hid behind the teen's back.
“Calm down, D.” Jade tried to assure her, then turned to the three sisters. “That’s the most idiotic turn the situation could’ve taken. Are you going to change your mind, or am I blasting you right now?”
“Are you going to stand on our way again, brat?” Stormy hissed, and lightning flashed among her curls.
Instead of answering, Jade gasped and exclaimed with a frightened voice:
“Behind you!”
Icy chuckled:
“Don’t even think we’ll fall for it.”
“I’m not tricking you; turn around you, fools!”
Stormy looked behind her and jumped with unexpectedness.
A transparent-black, ghost-like creature with burning light-blue eyes and a thin yet tall man-like figure that was slowly moving towards the group.
“What’s that?” Darcy asked sceptically, pointing at it. The sisters had seen much more frightening monsters, so the creature didn’t scare them.
“A Shadow Vampire.” Jade whispered, stepping back. “It drains magic out of every living object it makes contact with.”
“I don’t believe you, brat!” Stormy replied. “One strong spell would finish this thing off!”
She shot the lightning towards the Vampire. The spell made a shining hole inside its body, but the energy flow didn’t cease, and Stormy’s magic kept coming out.
“W-What’s going on?!” The witch of storms panicked. “Get off me, get off!” She knelt, losing her strength.
“This thing is going to pay dearly for attacking us!” Icy hissed, ready to throw a spell at the vampire.
“You’re making it worse.” Jade noted, while more vampires appeared among the trees surrounding the group.
“Mind your own business!” The witch of ice snapped.
“Don’t you really understand they’ll do the same thing to you?” The teen asked.
“And what should I do, in your opinion?!”
“Move away from them.” Jade advised. “If they get close enough, they’ll suck us out.
No longer had she said it, a bright flash of yellowish-white light burst out near her, and soon everything drowned in that light.
It lasted no more than a second. As the shining vanished, there was nothing but barely visible black smoke left of the Shadow Vampires.
“What… was that?” Stormy asked after a short pause.
“Just in time, Daisy.” Jade smirked. “Congratulations.”
“Thanks.” The fairy squeaked shyly.
“Can anyone explain what’s going on?!” Stormy insisted. “Did that fairy do all of this?”
“Of course she did.” The teen replied. “She has the power I was telling you about.”
“And can we get the same?” Icy asked in a distrustful tone; her eyes flickered with interest.
Stormy stood up and shook dirt and dust off herself, casting sceptical glances at Daisy.
“If you sign the contract.” Jade waved the paper in front of the three sisters. “I’ll sign it, too, so it’s pretty fair.”
Icy took the contract once again and read it for the second time:
“What does it mean we should help you defeat the ‘opponent’s forces’?”
“You see, those creatures—shadow vampires—are a kind of Dark Army, which can only follow someone’s orders. Some of them we’ve just faced are a tiny part of this army.”
“Those things are going to leave most of the people without magic, then.” Darcy guessed.
“I’m glad you get the point. Except it won’t be ‘most of the people’, it’ll be ‘all the people’.”
“All the people?” Stormy exclaimed. “Even us?”
“I thought you'd figured that out.” The teen chuckled.
“But your fairy friend seemed to deal with those monsters very well.” Icy reminded.
“Because she’s got one of the artefacts.” Jade rolled her eyes. “I had to be clear from the beginning. But enough talking. Decide whether you want to sign the contract or not. After you complete the mission, you’ll be free to go wherever you want, I guarantee that.”
Three sisters exchanged gazes.
“Fine.” Icy finally agreed and created a pen with her magic.
No sooner had she written her signature, the witch felt burning pain in her right wrist, and the signature, exactly the same, emerged there, written with turquoise-shining lines.
“What the heck is that?!” Icy stared at the mark on her skin, then glared at Jade.
“Your bond with the contract.” The teen explained. “Just to make sure you won’t trick me. It’s linked with your life force, so I wouldn’t try to remove this if I were you.”
The witch of ice wanted to say something, but then just gave the pen to Darcy.
When all three witches signed the contract, Icy returned the paper to Jade.
“As promised.” Jade made her mark and then hid the document in her backpack, frowning with pain as the mark emerged on her wrist.
“I think this flash might’ve gathered a lot of attention. Let’s move.” Jade quickly zipped up her backpack before putting it on. “I don’t feel like being drained right now.”
“But the fairy destroyed the shadow whatever-that-was, didn’t she?” Stormy asked.
The teen looked at the witch of storms as if the latter was insane.
“The magic wasn’t that powerful in the distance. And those creatures are very sensitive, so if they felt it, they could be on their way already.”
“Where are we going, anyway?” Icy asked.
“To the portal.” Jade drew a small compass out of the pocket of her dark grey jeans. “But first things first. Have you ever heard about the legendary seven rings?”
“Those mythical ones made by the Ancestral Fairies?” Darcy raised a brow.
Jade nodded.
“But they’re just a fairy tale!” The witch of darkness objected.
“As you see, they’re not.” The teen replied, gazing at the compass. “They exist outside the Magical Dimension, though.”
“Where exactly?” Icy frowned. “And how are we going to get there?”
“In the Beta-Magical Dimension. According to the legends and theories, its average energy level is much higher than that of ours. There’s only one portal that leads there. It should be on the north-eastern edge of Gloomywood, several hundred metres from here.”
“And how are we going to find seven tiny rings in the whole damn dimension?”
“Firstly, there’re four unmastered rings now. One’s owned by Daisy, one’s destroyed, and one’s kept by the mysterious person who had that brilliant idea of summoning the army of Shadow Vampires.” Jade raised the compass closer to her face. “Now a little bit to the east... And secondly, I’ve got a map where the locations of the rings are marked.”
“So, each of us gets just one of those rings?” Stormy asked.
“You can’t own more than one anyway.” Jade rolled her eyes. “Otherwise, the big amount of power can tear you apart; never thought of that?”
“Yeah, like I would believe you.” The witch of storms muttered.
“If you want to check it out yourself, go ahead, then.” Jade shrugged. “Just warn me beforehand; I’ll bring popcorn and sunglasses.”
Stormy didn’t answer anything, and they continued to walk in silence.
It seemed that hours had passed before Jade finally stopped in front of a wooden arch.
“This is the place. Now we just have to activate it.”
The arch looked like a bunch of very long branches, twisted together and shaped in an upside-down letter "U" and decorated with the floral patterns carved all over its surface, slightly visible only because the moon lit them up.
Darcy touched the wood:
“Ouch! It’s fairy magic!”
“And I thought it was witches who built the portal.” Jade rolled her eyes. “I’ll manage with that. Dark Key!”
The spell flew through the arch and crashed against the ground behind it, making no effect.
“So?” Darcy asked sceptically while two other witches burst into laughter.
“Well, it was worth trying.” The teen murmured, turning the face away; her cheeks blushed.
“Step aside.” Icy ordered. “Sisters…” She nodded to the witches of darkness and storms.
They came closer.
“Dark Gate!” The Trix exclaimed, shooting the spell towards the arch, on which the carvings started shining.
“Ugh, why is this thing so hard to open?!” Stormy grunted, while a bright spark appeared below the edge of the arch and started to expand.
Jade gasped and stepped back as she spotted the shiny eyes of the vampires among the dark silhouettes of the trees.
“I told you they would come. Hurry, or we’ll get drained!”
“We’re trying, if you don’t see!” Darcy growled.
The spark was slowly turning into a swirling portal.
“Darcy, Stormy, you hold this thing until I pass.” Icy ordered, lowering her hands, when the passage got big enough to go through.
“Are… you… kidding?!” Stormy panted with tension.
“You’re welcome.” Icy told the teen and pointed towards the portal.
She went first, and her sisters followed her example.
“Come on, D.” Jade grabbed the fairy’s hand, and the girls jumped into the shrinking portal.
They found themselves in the forest, but it looked different from the ones that grew all over the Magic Dimension. Tall violet trees grew close to each other, surrounded by many unknown plants, flowers, and fungi, some of which shone with blue, green, yellow, and pink light. And though it was night, the forest was only covered with dusk. Mainly because of three moons shining in the purple sky and unusually bright stars.
Different sounds filled the air. Invisible insects were buzzing, and birds were chirping melodically high above the ground.
“The first part of the plan—done.” Jade noted, looking around. “Now let’s find a place to stop for the night.”
“What’s the point of that?” Icy asked. “I want to get those rings as soon as possible.”
“The point is, it’s dark.” The teen replied. “And who knows what is lurking around us right now?”
“And so, what? If you’re scared, you shouldn’t have even begun that.”
“Were you even listening to what I said about the energy level?” Jade rolled her eyes.
“I don’t care about what you say.” Icy replied coldly. “And I don’t want to spend any extra seconds here.”
“And why should I care about what you want? Give your selfishness a rest, Your Majesty.”
“And don’t you dare talk to me like that!”
“Then shut up and stay like that for half an hour, at least. It must be pretty easy to do.”
“No, if I say we’re going all night long, then we’re going all night long!”
“But-”
“I. Don’t. Care.” The witch of ice interrupted. “Just do what I say.”
“Why would I?” Jade drew the map out of the pocket of her hoodie. “Especially since I’m the one with-”
“Not anymore!” Icy snatched the piece of parchment with a smirk on her face and unfolded it. “So, where- Ouch!”
The map burst out a bright flash of green light. The witch of ice stepped back, dropping the parchment.
“What the heck was that?!”
“I sealed it while we were walking.” Jade caught the parchment with a spell and showed her a barely visible sign on it. “And all my property is sealed as well. Just in case you’ll be wondering.”
“Whatever.” Icy spat. “I can influence your decision in many other ways.”
“I’d like to see that.” The teen snorted. “But I don’t think it’s a suitable time for a fi-”
She couldn’t help but gasped as the spell froze her body in an ice brick, leaving nothing but the head open.
“Too easy.” The witch of ice chuckled. “Either you shut up and do things my way, or I’m leaving you here like that.”
“Don’t make the same mistake as every teenage girl I bump into.” Jade smirked; her eyes lit up with green light, and a moment later the ice disappeared in the swirl of acid-green flames. “So?” She crossed her arms in front of her chest. “Do you still want to mess with me or-” Suddenly, she stopped and tensed. “There’s something nearby. Or someone.”
“Oh, really?” Icy chuckled. “Scared already?”
“I do feel something, too.” Darcy said quietly, so only her sisters could hear.
“Shut up, it’s nothing.” Icy hissed at her.
At the same time, a pair of yellow eyes lit up in front of them. The group watched a tiger-like creature slowly walk out of the bushes. It was too dark to see the animal clearly. Darcy, as the one with the best night vision, could notice the black stripes on the creature’s back and silvery claws on its paws.
“What is that?” Stormy asked.
“How should I know?” Icy snapped at her. “But it’s probably going to attack us.”
“We finally agree on something.” Jade noted, staring at the beast.
“Hypnotise it, Darcy.” Icy ordered.
The witch of darkness started sending mental waves towards the creature. An animal shook its head angrily and got ready to jump.
“Oh, don’t you dare!” Stormy shot a lightning bolt towards it.
When the spell reached its target, the tiger growled and jumped at the witch of storms, who started flying backwards…
“Ouch!” Stormy exclaimed when sharp claws made five deep, bleeding cuts on her arm, making the witch fall down. “Why didn’t my spell affect?!”
“It seems to be immune to magic.” Jade jumped back.
“And how to get rid of it, then?” Stormy flew up while trying to cover her wounds with a hand.
“Why do I have to deal with everything myself?” Icy rolled her eyes.
She froze the creature's paws in four ice bricks with a spell and turned to her sisters:
“See? It’s not that hard.”
No sooner had the witch said it, a crack sounded behind her. Icy turned around and found herself almost face-to-face with the animal, free from its bonds, rushing towards her with a loud roar. She flew up, but almost immediately felt something heavy hanging on her cape and pulling her down. The witch of ice lowered her gaze, just to find out that the creature had grabbed the cape with its teeth.
“Curses!” Icy tried to break free, but the beast held her tight.
The animal shook its head, and the next moment, the witch was thrown against the ground and collapsed.
“Well, it seems to have strength as well.” Jade murmured to herself, slowly walking backward.
“Stay away from her!” Darcy threw another spell at the creature, whose teeth, not any less sharp than the claws, were too close to Icy’s neck.
Like the others, it bounced away, but the animal left Icy alone and turned towards Darcy, who had already flown up in the air.
“Stormy, do something!” She shouted to her sister, who stood behind the creature.
“What can I do?!” The latter shrieked. “My spells don’t work!”
“But we need to push this overgrown kitty out of our way!”
“As if I don’t get it!”
“Normally you don’t.” Darcy chuckled, but then became serious.
“Oh, yeah?” Stormy hit the nearest tree with the lightning bolt, setting it on fire and making it fall.
“It’s going to fall on Icy, you idiot!” The witch of darkness barked at her.
She broke the burning tree in two with the wave of energy, right before it would fall on the witch of ice, throwing one part of it into the animal, which jumped over it.
Darcy cursed and landed near her sister:
“Come on, let’s converge.”
They clenched hands together and exclaimed:
“Dark Lightning!”
This time the spell had a little effect; the animal howled with pain and frustration.
“See? It’s working!” The witch of darkness looked at the creature. “Let’s try once again!”
“It’s too powerful; I’ll waste all my energy that way!” Stormy objected.
“And what else do you suggest?”
The witch of storms paused, looking at the animal, walking closer and closer.
“Okay, okay, I’m doing it.” She finally agreed, wearing a gloomy expression on her face.
The two sisters fired another convergence spell, but the creature avoided the attack by jumping aside. It rushed at the witches with a growl, but they managed to fly up.
“Great, it’s just got angrier.” Stormy muttered. “I told you it was a bad idea.”
“Shut up.” Darcy hissed.
Jade observed the fight, hiding behind the tree with Daisy.
“Think, think, think!” The teen hissed to herself. “There should be some way to get rid of this animal…”
She clenched her fists, so the nails bit into the skin, and closed her eyes.
The creature was defending its territory, obviously. But she couldn’t just come out and explain the situation. Unless…
“But of course!” Jade murmured. “How didn’t I think about it before?”
“What is it, Jade?” Daisy asked. “Have you got a plan?”
“Sort of.” The teen replied. “More like a brilliant idea. Watch this.”
She went forward and began reciting the spell.
Suddenly, a similar animal, but twice bigger, went out of the bushes behind Jade’s back.
“Wow, just what we needed.” Stormy hissed.
Meanwhile, the smaller creature stepped back as the bigger one growled loudly and vanished behind the trees.
Jade clicked the fingers, and another beast disappeared, turning into acid-green sparkles.
“The coast is clear.”
“Couldn’t you do it earlier?” Stormy asked, still trying to stop the cuts from bleeding. “It hurts, you know.”
“If you’re so smart, why haven’t you figured anything out?” Jade rolled her eyes. “Let’s find where to make a stop now; I don’t want any more unnecessary risks.”
Icy groaned and opened her eyes.
“What… Where’s that thing?”
“Welcome back.” Jade said. “I think now you don’t have any objections against my plan, right?”
“Fine, do it.” Icy agreed, sitting up and rubbing her head.
Suddenly, the teen’s expression changed; she frowned and looked at the sky.
“There’s something else.”
“What is it?” Darcy asked.
“There!” The teen pointed to the silhouette of a giant bird flashing above the trees. It dropped behind the trees but flew up a few moments later, holding something like the tiger-like creature they’d been fighting against.
“I’m no ornithologist, but I think it may be carnivorous.” Jade murmured.
“That means no flying, then?” Stormy asked.
Darcy nodded:
“I don’t want to end up as someone’s dinner.”
While walking forward, the witch of darkness noticed Icy hobbling.
“You alright?” She asked.
“Of course I am!” The witch of ice snapped.
She rose a few centimetres above the ground and flew forward, leaving Darcy behind.
***
After twenty minutes of walking, they reached a small clearing.
“This one will do.” Jade nodded.
She walked into the centre, placed her backpack on the ground, and opened it.
“What are you doing?” Darcy asked, watching the teen draw four green diamond-shaped gems out of the rucksack.
“A little thing for protection.” Jade made the gems float to the edge of the clearing with a spell.
The gems landed near the trees in four different places, forming a square. The teen placed her hands on the grass and began reciting an incantation in a low voice. No matter how hard Darcy tried to understand what Jade was saying, she couldn’t recognise a single word.
Five little circles lit up below the ends of the teen’s fingers, and the shining sign appeared on the ground. The gems lit up as well, and a cold wind blew upwards.
“Whoa.” Darcy exhaled quietly.
“Watch your heads.” Jade warned. “This thing is solid.”
“What thing?” Stormy asked, just before the transparent light-green half-spheric barrier emerged some centimetres above her head, so her sisters hardly managed to bend down in time.
“Should be powerful enough.” The teen removed her hand, and the light vanished, along with the sign on the grass.
“Where did you get that?” Darcy asked with interest.
“Inherited.” Jade sat down on the ground. “It’s just a portative barrier, nothing special. And in case you want to use it, the gems listen only to me.” She created a transparent sphere and lit an acid-green fire inside it. “Here. Now I can at least see something.”
“And attract more beasts, right.” Darcy rolled her eyes.
“The barrier will keep them away.” Jade assured her.
Daisy sat near the teen.
“If you’re so sure about it, then why didn’t you use it against that creature earlier?” Icy cut in.
“Because it takes time and concentration to activate it.” The teen told her. “Just be thankful I helped you at all.”
“We would’ve dealt even without your help!” The witch of ice snorted.
“Yeah, you would.” Jade chuckled. “Especially when being knocked out.”
Icy sent her a glare but said nothing.
“Are you going to fix my arm or not?” Stormy turned to the witch of darkness after a few moments of silence.
“I have wasted a lot of energy on that beast; do something with it yourself.” Darcy protested. “Are you a witch or what?”
“I can’t do healing spells, you know that!”
“Fine, fine.” Her sister sighed. “I’ll fix it. But only if you keep your mouth shut.”
Stormy nodded and stretched her injured hand towards the witch of darkness.
Darcy placed her hand on the cuts, which started shining with dim purple light. Stormy bit her lip.
The wounds became more and more little until they disappeared completely, leaving just smooth, clear skin.
“Done.” The witch of darkness removed the palm. “One minute without saying a word. It’s your new record, sis.”
“Shut up.” Stormy hissed, examining her arm.
Icy strangled a yawn.
Jade drew the woollen blanket out of her rucksack, and Daisy followed her example.
“You came prepared.” Darcy noted with teasing sparkles in her eyes.
“Don’t be jealous.” The teen gave her a chuckle.
“Who’s going to stay on guard?” Stormy asked when four witches and a fairy lay down on the ground.
“No-one.” Jade stated, pulling the blanket on herself and placing her head on the backpack. “I sense auras very well, so I’ll wake you up in case of emergency.”
Icy chuckled doubtfully but said nothing. She just wrapped herself in the cape and turned her head away, having no more strength for arguments. Her whole body (especially the right leg) hurt after the fall, and her eyes were ready to close any minute.
“Lights down.” Jade made the fire vanish with the snap of her fingers, and everything drowned in semi-darkness. “And if you wake me up without an excusable reason, I’ll kill you. I mean it.”
i am going to finally start posting what I’ve been working on!!!
my girlfriend and I have been world-building together for a homebrew pathfinder campaign that she started running for us and some friends- this is a character i’ve had for 3 years now, but only really started developing her story and whirling her around in my brain at mach speeds in the last couple months or so
i’ll put some lore and a couple other sketches under the cut. i’m also going to try and set up a queue for the other art and sketches i’ve made for the campaign so far, so watch out for that!
--------------------------------------------------------
Have you heard of a whale fall?
Imagine being a creature living on the bottom of the ocean floor- life is hard. It's cold, it's dark, food is scarce. Suddenly, a giant, incomprehensible being floats down from the heavens. You and hundreds, maybe thousands of organisms clamor to the remains of the beast, a sudden beacon of prosperity in this wasteland, desperate to get even a scrap of its of life-giving nutrients. Every creature that partakes will have a piece of that being inside of them forever- fueling them, giving them life, becoming a part of them. Do you think these creatures would worship such a being? Would they consider it a god? Salvation? In the world of Omna, remnants of old gods past have fallen down from the divine realm and settled in the mortal plane. Their remains are what have created the landscapes of this world (mountain ranges, valleys, islands, etc). Mortals who live and dwell upon the remains find themselves changed slowly throughout the generations- changed by the faint fragments of the gods lingering power. --------------------------------------------------------
ok. now for my character Name: Felise Pfeiffer (Fell) Age: 19 Class: Cosmos Oracle Background: Scholar (Arcane) Felise is a cosmos oracle- which means her powers come at the cost of a curse that slowly takes over her body. Instead of something like stars, I wanted her curse to appear as this sort of.... corrupted, glitchy, chaos-y aura. It's very closely tied to her emotions, so when she gets really worked up, the static progressively expands around her. After she was "cursed", if she let her emotions get away from her, she risked hurting herself or other students at her academy. In order to avoid becoming a threat to the other students and faculty, and ultimately getting kicked out of school, she devised a number of strategies to help keep her emotions in check. (mechanically this is her settle emotions/refocus action. I'd like to think she uses the time to focus on slowing down her breathing. She uses her dancing lights cantrip to help- i imagine her spinning the lights around in her hands meditatively, kind of like baoding balls if you know what those are) (also yes, her curse magic manifesting is the equivalent of a panic attack) She's covered up a lot of her body to try and hide as much of it as possible, but her hair is always a dead giveaway. She leaves her fingers exposed since it's easier to channel magic through exposed skin (gloves, unless made of a special magic-conducting material, tend to dampen spells just a bit) - but this means others can see her fingers start to shift into static as she uses her cursed magic. I had a lot of really intense anxiety in junior high/high school/college, so she's become a really neat vessel for me to conceptualize and process those experiences and emotions. But, like, instead of having undiagnozed ADHD and RSD she gets like. cool magical girl powers BIO: Felise was the sole child of local inventor and archeologist, Atticus Pfeiffer. Her father's lifelong devotion was to study and uncover the mysteries of the ancient winged people known as the Featherfolk, who had seemingly vanished some 1000 years before. She grew up in a cottage built on the coast of a mysterious bird-shaped lake, where she and her father would excavate broken murals, walls of hieroglyphs, and other artifacts that hinted at the lives of this forgotten feathered-society. Until just under 10 years ago- when her father mysteriously vanished. From then on, reports of strange attacks began sprouting up all over Aton and other neighboring regions. Attacks fronted by giant, chimera-like bird monsters that would descend from the sky to snatch up unsuspecting victims- carrying them away to some unknown in the sky. Felise did her best to pick up the pieces of her father's research- hoping to find the cause behind the sudden appearance of these monstrous aberrations, the reason for their attacks, and maybe, just maybe, where her father disappeared to all those years ago.
-------------------------------------------------------- you did it!! i give you tasty treat for reading my lore dump! even if you didnt thats ok, you must have at least clicked the read more and scrolled down. you can still have a little treat
an unfinished reference sheet for her dad, atticus
these are my girlfriend @im-ashl sketches - Skraaw, The Carrion King - the BBEG of the campaign, an Evil Bird who is Awful
and finally some sketches of- whos this? the featherfolk princess??
#im still. figuring out how to draw people#so my style isn't really consistent yet if u cant already tell#but it's been a lot of fun and i've been drawing more than ever#so i hope you like it!!#pathfinder#pathfinder 2e#ttrpg art#cosmos oracle#felise pfeiffer#me art
hey! It’s my birthday today! I was wondering if you could write a small blurb about Bradley doing something special for babybear on her birthday? No worries if you aren’t able to! I love the series! <3
Birthday Suit
first off, happy freaking birthday!!!!! of course i’ll write something for you!!!! thank you for enjoying my series, i have on my party hat for you right as we speak B) i wanted to get this posted on the day of your birthday so sorry if it’s not as polished >.> (also maybe because i wrote this on the shaky bus..so that too haha)
warnings: fluff, 18+ blog in general, minors dni.
word count: 900
something ‘bout you masterlist.
“Shit–she’s not here yet, right?” Bradley asks frantically, nudging the door open with his foot—hands clumsy handling a cake.
He’s yet to look up from the very costly decorated birthday cake, trying to balance it with sweaty fingers. You’ve been raving over the local bakery’s designs lately—showing Bradley their custom made desserts to an endless degree.
Which only meant that—he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he didn’t splurge on a cake. Especially one that was shaped like the head of a bear. When he finally arrived at the bakery for pickup, in his scramble to show up on time—Bradley couldn’t even be mad that one of the bear’s eyeballs were slipping off the edge, because you’d like it.
It would make you laugh, and that’s all Bradley needed to know before stuffing a fat twenty dollar bill in the tip jar—rendering the teenage girl at the register speechless.
As he sets the cake down, Bradley stretches his neck to face the group of usually chatty aviators surrounding the kitchen island.
His eyes are already narrowed into slits, staring at them through his eyebrows with a warning look.
There’s only silence between him and the group, who all have their mouths parted in shock. Hangman’s mouth is parted the widest, making the paper party horn slip from his teeth—which annoys Bradley even more.
Bob is the only one who can’t face Bradley, blinking down at the cake nervously—trying his hardest to ignore his choice of apparel.
“Don’t say a thing,” he grits, watching Jake collect his thoughts, lips puckering together—a clear sign that he does in fact—has something to say.
To no one’s surprise, he’s the first to speak up. “What the—What the fuck is on your face?” Jake sputters, lips curling inside his mouth to let out a hideous laugh.
He says exactly what everyone’s thinking, causing most of the pilots to double over in laughter. Though some of them—well just Coyote, accidentally spits up in his own hand, from holding in his amusement.
“What the fuck is on his face?!” Natasha yells the question at Jake. “Don’t you mean—What the fuck is he wearing?” Natasha puts forth, tugging on the pink tutu around his waist.
“Hey. Hands off woman, this took forever to put on.” Bradley grunts, turning his hip away from her hands.
It’s not like Bradley isn’t aware of how ridiculous he looks. There’s a full shaving cream beard ringing around his mouth for God's sake. Not to mention the bright pink tulle around his jeans—paired with a matching princess tiara sitting on his curls, of course.
He’s actually very aware that he looks like he’s been dressed by a group of six year old girls given free reign—also known as the collective who runs your brain. You’d have a hoot at this.
Before anyone else can get another word in—the front door of your apartment jiggles, and Fanboy quickly hushes everyone. The make fun of Rooster convention is put to an end as everyone scatters to a nearby hiding spot. If it’s one thing the group is good at—it’s knowing how to act quickly.
Right as you walk in, you almost fall over from being greeted with loud screams of “Suprise!” and “Happy Birthday!” and even one “I love you more than Rooster!” coming from Hangman.
Clutching your chest, your mouth stretches into a wide smile—heart full of joy at the surprise. “W-What? Oh my god,” you catch sight of Bradley first.
Completely dropping your stuff onto the floor, you go running at the flushed pilot, throwing yourself into his arms. Bradley stumbles back with a shy look on his face, “How do I look honey?”
You place a searing kiss to his mouth, letting the shaving cream stamp your own face—matching Bradley. “So freaking cute, I love the tiara,” you laugh, taking it for yourself.
Jake’s already starting, “See, I don’t know—it looks fine on her but on Rooster it’s kinda—” Natasha jabs him in the ribs with her elbow, not wanting him to ruin the moment. Jake groans, catching the hint.
Bradley finally drops you, hands still on your waist as you slip back onto the wooden tiles. You get distracted, playing with Bradley’s skirt as he grins down at you, “How’d they get this in your size? I tried checking before but—”
“Ahem.” Payback cuts in, knowing you and Bradley tend to get lost in your own little world.
You both turn to face the noise, and everyone’s surrounding the cake, waiting for you to notice it.
“No. No you didn’t!” You gape, hands coming to your mouth—smearing your new white beard.
Your eyes start to actually well up watching everyone make excited gestures at you—happy that you got your dream cake. Hangman flaps his hands around the cake, with an open smile.
Unable to contain your tears, your fingers stretch over your eyes, covering your face completely. “Baby—wait hey are you crying?” Bradley worriedly leans down, trying to pry your hands off.
You fall foward into his chest, and he catches you. “It’s s’cute. The ugly little eyeball—I can't,” you muffle into your palms.
“Thought you’d like that,” he laughs, glad they’re just happy tears. Placing a kiss onto your hairline, he whispers, “Happy birthday babybear.”
“Babybear!” All the pilots shout in unison, some even tearing up themselves. In a flash, everyone's throwing themselves at you both, turning it into a group hug. Hangman is the last to join, wrapping his arms around everyone, sniffling.
You just cry harder at the sentiment, this is the best birthday ever.
note: as always, thank you for reading and reblogs are greatly appreciated!
