Thinking about vampires, death, life, and the space they occupy in between

I had a lot more while I was drawing this but I guess I put them in the painting LOL #reading that soliloquy and being like damn this is just like vampires #the reality of course is that the soliloquy is a debate over suicide and ultimately making the choice to live #even if just out of fear of the unknown #and vampires are about dying and then in undeath choosing to continue to live #despite the fear of eternity and loneliness and hurting others #theyre not the same. but like let me thiiink come onnnn I'm allowed to thiiink and have incomplete thoughts #I would have to write like a proper essay about this to organize my thoughts. this is the tags on a tumblr post.#anyways finished episode 79 #working on patreon stickers for this month (and next month soon)#and working on book 4. taking a pause from episodes cause I've got 3 weeks of buffer now... i would much rather have a cohesive outfit vs a super elaborate one for the sake of being elaborate.

both yunli and jiaoqiu have outfits that fit their themes and roles - yunli's has roots in actual tang dynasty dancer designs and jiaoqiu's clothing being more uniform-esque given his position as an actual counselor makes sense. i do see the point that they're both five stars but also, i think hsr designs for both 4 and 5 stars have had similar levels of care and design so the distinction between the two - at least design wise (and tbh sometimes kit wise) is much smaller than most other games.

either way, super excited for both!

part of the problem is that a lot of hugo's politics are really well thought out & considered & good but then some of them are like. entirely vibes-based to the point of feeling muddled & inconsistent & even straight up Bad sometimes. which is annoying

#sometimes it's like he's just saying things. chewing it over in real time but not getting anywhere really. which is frustrating when you've #just been immersed in a really deep & serious point he's carefully made & laid out just before #<- e.g. this section of revolt vs insurrection has some good points ig & could be interesting if it was actually grounded in some sort #of idk. political theory or something. but instead he spends a lot of it just falling back on ~vibes which sucks Especially bc #sometimes that 'sense' misleads him i think! and he ends up wandering closer to certain reactionary ideas than he intends #like he starts w this really banger bit basically making fun of the bourgeoisie opinion on violent uprising but then?? kind of ends up #doing that a bit himself by the end? not to mention that tbh i think the whole distinction he's trying to make here is kind of bogus anyway #it really feels he's trying to soothe his like lingering bits of conservative discomfort around this sort of armed uprising #by sorting it into a 'good' 'type' while maintaining a 'bad' 'type' for anything he's still not comfortable with #<- i wouldn't phrase that quite so harshly except i still think his bit on 1848 is annoying & this sort of goes hand in hand w that towards #like. actually actively working against the values he's trying to strive towards. y'know.#it's like you can see genuinely him intellectually trying to come round but he has still not let go of these #sort of like. instinctive conservative bourgeois discomforts in his subconscious. if that makes sense #thoughts #<- also the take on caesar & alexander & columbus etc. 😑🚬 i'm tired #kind of funny though bc sometimes his characters (i.e. like the amis) come across as having more clear grounded discussed well #thought through political opinions than he does. lol. it's like he saw the vision but was struggling with it personally at times #les mis

#ive kind been sleeping on venus in overdrive tbh it's really got some bangers #i wish he'd gone a little less pop with it. if he did live versions/rerecorded versions w more of an... edgy? feel #like he did w 80's songs on the greatest hits... alive live album i think it would rise to one of my all time favorites #i consider every alive version of songs better than the studio versionshis guitar and vocals are better. especially dont talk to strangers #like what's victoria's secret? and i'll miss that someday are rlly good but just feel like something's missing and more of an alive feel #would fix them #title track is fine as is tbh it's got enough going on doesnt feel empty at all #time stand still is the huge exception tho it would be actively worse w the alive treatment. it's kinda too light and empty but in a way #that's appropriate and works perfectly #but sadly i don't think he'll overhaul any of these he doesn't seem very fond of venus in overdrive?#none of it makes it into his set lists and it's underrepresented in his recent big hits compilation album #he def loves rocket science so many of those on big hits. im hoping he'll do some kinda rerecording and that's why it's been taken off #spotify... shock/denial/anger/acceptance wasn't on spotify for a hot minute until he released a 20th anniversary deluxe version this year #i also think a stripped down/acoustic version of rocket science would work really well #sorry i smoked weed and got really autistic abt rick springfield apparently

A little late BUT I got my 2k done for the two-hours-ago yesterday :'D I'm still on track wooo!!!

#I'm rapidly approaching the FTEs and Special Event chapters #There will be two FTEs per case and one Special Event #So that's only three chapters before the Murder; investigation; and then trial #I'm VERY nervous writing those because it'll be my first time writing those things I think #BUT THE FACT I'VE MADE SO MUCH PROGRESS MAKES ME SO HAPPY TBH???#I'm very excited!!!#How fast can I get Case 1 done........ crazy that there's a high chance we'll likely be getting z-a news in just a few weeks...

i'd love if we got a little glimpse of the gameplay or at the very least the starters/regional variants (or the new megas? but something also tells me that they'll try and keep those secret to surprise us on release day)

but i'm honestly mostly curious about what time period it's taking place in since i've seen a lot of different arguments. i'd personally prefer if it was the past since i think there's a lot of room for potential world-building since kalos, although poorly executed in the original story, has some of the most fascinating lore in the entire franchise in my personal opinion, so regardless i think we'll be taking a second look at the kalosian war, the origin of mega evolution, and of course, my man zygarde given that it, too, was very underutilized in x/y.

on that note i can't wait for diantha's evil prettyboy ancestor to try and kill us with the power of death incarnate

#tbh i could go on for a while about the potential ...#namely with the box legends because they're all inspired by the guardians/animals that inhabit the world tree in norse mythology #- which happens to be a huge interest of mine (i even based the setting of my book around it) so i have a lot of thoughts!#i'll be very happy if xerneas and yveltal gets more love too because they're kick-ass concepts for legendaries #and there is genuinely so much you can play around with the life/death motif. the possibilities are endless.#i want to have faith that the main reason they're actually DOING pokemon z after all this time is to make the chief gen 6 experience.#and in terms of story-writing specifically they've been meting out absolute bangers recently so i think it's safe to say we're locked in #if anyone has any additional thoughts feel free to let me know. now that we're verging on a potential news wave i'm so unfathomably excited #riley rambles

#i actually think its because of my mutuals putting out banger fics lately i've been kinda getting the itch to try it myself #i actually wrote two small pieces on here ages ago (if you remember them you the real mvp) and they were like. fine ig #but idk i wanna try it again #if i did post it would be on tumblr only tbh #i have a very specific scenario for captain au i want to write out #captain au's ultimate goal is a comic but comics take too much time and energy and i don't have a lot of energy atm #but there's a scene in hatanaka's palace that i want to write out really badly #especially after playing royal again recently #it would be the scene where the thieves encounter hatanaka's cognition of riku #i think cognitive selves are a little underutilized in the game post the second palace so i kinda wanted to go a little crazy with it #but we'll see lol i have very little experience writing so idk how confident i'd be in posting it #idk why im making this post even lol ig i just feel like talking #this blog is in a sense my diary lmao #hope y'all are having a nice day anyway. its cold here.
