Look, here's why "Teen" CAN'T be Billy (and it'd make me extra pissed off if it is.) Spoilers for Agatha All Along and Marvel comics!

Billy is a Scarlet Witch fanboy first and foremost. He's also a shameless nerd for all the Avengers, like Kamala Khan. Making his introduction be as an Agatha fanboy, even just as a con, is maddening. Why need her or help her get powers back when he'd know how dangerous she is to Wanda and himself by extension? He's already extremely strong on his own. Why nerf him?

For Billy to be here in search of Wanda, it means they would have majorly skipped his origin story. He had a new family he was born into and a team, adventures, love, all before he AND HIS BRO went to find Wanda. Hell, he thought she was dead like everyone else for a while.

Billy got Wanda back with FAMILY help. His brother Tommy. Uncle Pietro. Grandpappy Magneto. (I do understand the MCU won't let us have the last two.) A family quest to find family being turned into a Halloween Wizard Of Oz journey with an enemy would give me a migraine. They re-imagined House Of M so recognizably with Wandavision, so why would they fumble Billy's comics here?

There's no reason Billy's name or story would be forbidden to Agatha. Who would have made that spell? Why? Would she even recognize him when his last name is very different and family life has no connection to Wanda at all? I doubt he keeps blabbing to her that he's Wanda's son if he's really pretending to be Agatha's stan. (There's another theory of who Teen is that makes more sense for his name to be hidden, but his comics aren't in my wheelhouse.)

When Teen said a spell in the first episode, it was some Latin mumbling instead of his will. Billy in the comics, at least when he's still young, wills things to be in order to use his magic. He says what he wants like a mantra, out loud in plain words. I know the MCU might have nix'd this since he didn't do it in Wandavision either, but I still have hope they'll give it back. It shows how powerful he is, like his mother who could change all reality with an errant thought.

If the boyfriend calling was Teddy, that means they also skipped the couple growing closer on their team and the whole Skrull/Kree prince thing by this point in the timeline, and I'm just already so mad it's taken this long to even get one HINT of Teddy in the MCU, so if they really made his introduction be a neglected phone call I'll scream. He did stay home and worry and cover for the twins while they searched for their mom, but that's AFTER they'd established themselves as heroes and Teddy had his own family crisis. (They should have introduced him in The Marvels, I'm—)

No red in Teen's color scheme nor any resemblance to young Asgardian or Wiccan costumes. It's the weakest argument but the wardrobe dept usually gives us something. Billy had the color scheme in Wandavision and got to mimic his Wiccan costume besides (not the ugly galaxy pajamas they have him in nowadays). There's a promo poster that DOES have Teen in red with a headband, but it still seems off to me. Seems like a trick.

Granted, if Teen is really who most suspect to be another character close to Agatha, he doesn't have that color scheme either and I'd completely understand why...

Now stop making such smartass posts in the tag casually calling Teen "Billy" until we know. Because not only are you raising my blood pressure, but it's disrespectful to people who like to avoid untagged spoilers and you may just be setting them up for no reason. It's rude.

Behind Closed Doors, Chapter 13

Warnings: violence, fighting, getting punched, fighting in front of/scaring children.

“I now pronounce you man and wife!”

The tears continued to stream down your face as your now-husband swept you up into his arms.  Around you, you could hear the clapping and cheers from your guests.  And you could vaguely hear your twins cheering from either side of you and Sebastian.

‘YAY MOMMY!’

‘YAY DADDY!’

Sebastian chuckled as you captured his face in your hands and pulled him to yourself so that you could kiss him. 

“You’re stuck with us now, Mr. Stan.”

“Always and forever, Mrs. Stan.”

The two of you stared into one another’s eyes for a second, before you pulled away, and you turned towards your daughter. 

But Shayla was already running around you and towards Sebastian, “daddy, I get a kiss now?”

He chuckled and scooped her up before kissing her temple, “of course, princess.”

She giggled as he pressed kisses all over her face. 

“Momma?”

You turned to Johnny and he was standing nervously in front of you, “yes my sweet little prince?”

“Am I too big for kisses too?”

You shook your head, halfway kneeling to him.  You held out your arms and he smiled, running into them.  You picked him up and gave him a series of little kisses, “you’re never too old for kisses, baby.”

“Love you momma.”

“I love you too, baby boy.”

“You ready?” Sebastian asked, holding out a hand to you as you heard the music starting up once more. 

You nodded and took his hand, allowing him to lead you and the twins down the aisle. 

“We did it, daddy!” Shayla cheered, “we married mommy!”

“Yes we did, baby girl.”

“I-I’m taking the kidsss.”

“Chris, you’re drunk…I-“

“I want my kids, (Y/N),” he growled, “I want them right now.  I-we-we’re going to-“

“Chris…buddy, you don’t want to do this right now…” Sebastian offered gently as he tried to step between you and Chris, “let’s get you back to your room and in the mornin-“

“Don’t-don’t tell me what to do, Stan,” he spat, “they’remykids!  They’re no-not yours.”

You frowned as Chris hiccupped and stumbled backwards towards the door.  Rushing him, you tried to help him keep his balance, but his arms wrapped around you.  His back thudded heavily against the door and he groaned.

“Chris, you need to go to sleep…” you begged him softly, “please…le-let Sebastian help you get back to your room, and in the morn-“

“You should have married me, baby,” he said sadly as he reached up to stroke your cheek.  You frowned as he hiccupped again.  You felt Sebastian’s hand on your waist, “baby…it should have been me and you up there, with a little army of Evans’ babies!”

“Chris, sto-“ You were cut off when he kissed you.  Still in your right mind though, you pushed away from him immediately, “Chris what the hel-“

“I-it’s not too late, baby.  We can run awa-“

“Chris I don’t love you.  I-“

“I’M THE FATHER OF THE TWINS…Y-YOU’RE HERE BECAUSE OF ME!”

“Chris, you need to leave!” Sebastian hissed, having all too much rage building up inside of him, “you need to go back to your room!”

“Shut the hell up, Stan!”

“Momma?”

Your eyes widened and your heart dropped when you saw Shayla sleepily wiping her eyes as she stumbled onto the scene.  But it was obvious that Johnny had witnessed everything.

“Shit!”

“Joh-Johnny!” he hiccuped, trying to walk towards your little boy.  But Sebastian was quick to get in his way, “m-move Stan.  I-“

“Chris, go back to your room!” he warned, putting a hand up to stop him. 

“Chris, please!” you begged, “j-just come back tomorrow after you’ve had some time to sleep off the hangover.  Johnny and Shayla shouldn’t see you like this.”

“Johnny and Shayla-“ he hiccupped, “the kids-my kids!”

“That’s enough!” Sebastian said firmly once more as he pushed Chris away from them.  You rushed the twins, trying to get them to go back to their room, but you turned when you heard a crash behind you and Shayla screamed.

Chris and Sebastian had somehow gotten into a fight and Sebastian had him pinned against the wall.

“Sebastian!”

“Call security-“

But before he could speak any further, Chris had managed to sneak in a punch to his face, knocking him to the ground. 

Shayla screamed again, and you scooped up the twins, running to your master suite.  Throwing the door closed, you dropped the twins on the bed and locked the door.  A few seconds later you could hear the door turning. 

Ignoring how Jefferson was crying from is play pen because of the noise, and Jack was looking at you with confusion, you raced towards the bedside table again, this time reaching for the phone. 

“Momma, dadd-“

“DON’T GO NEAR THE DOOR, JOHNNY!” you yelled at your son as he crawled off the bed and started towards the door. 

Shayla started to cry and you dialed the main desk, “hello, main-“

“My name is (Y/N) Stan.  I’m in the honeymoon suite.  My ex burst into our room!” you sobbed, “he’s drunk and their fighting.  I locked myself and my kids in the main suite.   Please.  Send security!”

You sniffled as you held the ice pack to your husband’s face.

“It’s not your fault, honey…”

You gave him a sad look.  A few tears slid down your cheeks as you shook your head, “I invited him, Sebastian…”

“And I said that it was okay,” he reminded you as he cradled your hand.  Your heart ached as he rubbed the back of your hand, “honey…neither one of us saw this coming.”

“I should get a fresh pack,” you said sadly.  He let your hand slide from his, and your stomach twisted once again when you saw the black eye on your husband’s face.  As you put it on the table, your hand reached back up again, but he stopped it, cradling your own hand between both of his, “Se-“

“Stop…” he said softly, kissing your fingertips, “you’re so worried about me that you’re freezing your fingers off.  Guilt won’t make my black eye go away any sooner, honey…neither one of us expected for Chris to get blackout drunk and show up at our suite demanding the kids.”

“I-I don’t think I want him around them anymore, Sebastian,” you admitted sadly as more tears fell down your cheeks, “I-I don’t want to be that person who says that a man can’t see his children, but it feels like every time he’s around things go to shit.  The twins are afraid of him…the-“

“I’ll support you in whatever you decide,” he said quickly, cutting you off, “but I think you might be right in limiting the time Chris has with the kids…at least until he gets his shit together.”

“Wh-what if he doesn’t, Sebastian?” you asked, “what if he’s always like this?  He-he’s never put hands on Johnny or Shayla…but with the drinking…Scott said that he’s been doing it a lot more…like almost as much as he was after I had the twins…what if he’s spiraling?”

“You can’t protect him from himself,” he reminded you as he kissed your hand once more, “you can only protect the twins from the man that he’s becoming.”

“But what if-“

A few simple knocks on the door stopped you from speaking. 

“Did you know of anyone else that was coming over this morning?” he asked, “my mom and stepdad already came over and took the kids after what happened…”

“No…” you said slowly, “bu-but I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Scott or someone coming over to double-check on us…I’m sure the whole hotel knows what happened after the cops showed up…”

He gave you a sad smile, “I’m sorry…I know that you were upset we didn’t close on the house so we pushed the wedding up, but I didn’t think I would screw up the venue and the wedding this much.”

“You didn’t mess up anything,” you sighed.  You leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to his lips, “our wedding was beautiful…you had them drop in a gazebo for me…and the ceremony had me in tears the entire time.”

“I thought you were just having second thoughts about saying yes!” he joked, trying to lighten the mood. 

You leaned forward once again, giggling as you kissed him, “I would never have second thoughts.  I love you, Sebastian Stan.”

“I love you, (Y/N) Stan.”

Another series of knocks broke your intimate moment up.

“I’ll get it!” you offered, “last thing you need is someone commenting on that black eye!”

“Oh, you mean like you just did?” he teased.

“Yeah,” you laughed, shaking your head as you opened the door, “maybe it’s-Chris…”

Your stomach dropped when you saw your ex. 

He was still in his suit from the night before.

“Chris…” you repeated, this time, much softer, “wh-what are you doing here?”

“Scott told me what happened last night,” he admitted with a frown, “I-is Sebastian alright?”

“You should be more worried about how your kids were screaming when you tried to break down the door to get to (Y/N) and them…” Sebastian frowned as he joined you at the door.

“A-Are Johnny and Shayla-“

“They’re with my parents,” he said firmly, cutting him off, “(Y/N) and I asked her and my stepdad to take all of the kids after what happened…”

“What?”

“Chris-I-“

“Your parents have Johnny and Shayla?”

“It was my decision!” you said firmly, standing tall between your ex and your husband, “Chris, yo-“

“I was supposed to have them for the summer!” he said quickly, “I was-“

“Supposed to pick them up this morning,” you argued, glaring at your former lover, “instead, you burst into our room last night, demanding them, when you were blackout drunk.  And then you and Sebastian got into a fight.  And then, you tried to break down the door to get to them.  Do you know how much you scared them, Chris?”

He was quiet.

“You’re lucky that (Y/N) didn’t want to file a report,” Sebastian reminded him, “you’re lucky that she agreed to let Scott take you back to his room instead of letting the cops take you to the drunk tank for the night.  It’s the weekend so they wouldn’t have let you out until Monday, Chris.”

“Lucky?” he scoffed, “she just gave my kids to-“

“You’re lucky you still have parental rights,” you hissed, cutting him off, “after what you did last night, you’re lucky, Chris!  Because I don’t want you anywhere near them right now.  I don’t want it to get to the point that you feel it’s okay to hit them or-“

“I WOULD NEVER HIT JOHNNY AND SHAYLA!  I-“

“YOU BECAME A DRUNK, CHRIS!” You screamed in response, “SCOTT TOLD ME ABOUT WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING.  THE DRINKING.  THE PARTYING.  YOU’RE LUCKY THAT EVERYONE’S BEEN KEEPING THEIR MOUTH’S SHUT SO YOU CAN STILL BE CAPTAIN AMERICA!”

* MY BEST FRIEND IS A ROCKSTAR: (tw: death) muse a & muse b have been best friends since they were kids and grew up together. throughout their childhood, muse b had always told muse a about his plans to become a famous musician and as he grew older, became more and more determined to make those dreams come true. when they both hit their teen years, feelings eventually grew and the two were head over heels for each other but neither of them was ever able to admit it. they were both terrified that the feelings would be unrequited or that it would ruin their friendships so just imagine the angst of them seeing each other with other people and FGHDFG. anyway, when muse b finally turns twenty-one, he decides to move to hollywood to make his dreams come true, and muse a stays in their small hometown. they keep in contact with one another but as time went on, muse b becomes a huge rockstar with his band and their contact start to drift but they always had each other in their thoughts, wishing they were closer to one another. a few years pass and they still speak but it’s not like before. muse b was hugely successful and enjoyed the life he was now living but always felt like something was missing. that someone was missing… it’s not until he gets a distraught call from muse a telling him that her mother died does he rush on a private jet and comes home to her. after helping her arrange the funeral and being there for her through her grief, he suggests that she comes on tour with him and the band. wanting to run away from everything and everyone in her small town, she agrees. queue cute ass moments on the tour bus, traveling the world and falling in love like they did when they were young. add drama, angst ( because they’re both still dumb and won’t admit to their feels) stadium tours, TENSION!!!, groupies, etc, etc.

So while writing the next two chapters I’ve realized there’s a lot of extra info I haven’t added so I’m gonna make this a second info page for Juno, broken down into sections!

Basics:

- Juno Marsh is the daughter of Sharon and Randy Marsh, and twin sister of Stanley Marsh, younger sister of Shelley Marsh. She is the youngest in the family.

- She lives in South Park Colorado next door to the Broflovski’s

- She had mid length raven black hair, and deep blue eyes.

- She owns a dog named Sparky.

- She is friends with her brothers friends, though her closest friend is Kenny McCormick.

- She is a junior at South Park High.

Friends:

Kenny McCormick - lead guitarist in the band Crimson Dawn. Best friends with Juno Marsh since preschool. Was turned mortal in 5th grade after a mission to defeat his curse set out by him and Juno, where they broke him of his curse. Big pothead, but not to the point where it’s a problem. Dumb on the outside, but is actually really smart. Works a job to provide mostly for his little sister. Karen adores Juno. Kevin McCormick and Shelly Marsh have been dating for 3 years, and were set up by Kenny and Juno.

Stan Marsh - lead singer in the band Crimson Dawn. Still best friends with Kyle. Short tempered, but actually very sensitive. Hates his family lovingly. Has depression, takes anti-depressants. Has an alcohol problem, though he’s trying very hard to fix it. Refuses to take off his hat, Juno had to get him to wash his hair more. Not as greasy as it was when they were kids, but not the best.

Kyle Broflovski - Has been in love with Juno Marsh since the 4th grade. He fell first she fell harder. The smartest in the class. Is on the varsity basketball team, number 19 (Juno’s bday). Still wears his hat all the time, hates his hair but has warmed up to it more. Hates anything to do with alcohol or drugs. Designated driver always. Helps his brother with homework. Babysits Ike with Juno frequently. An awkward teenage boy, though a lot of girls have crushes on him (including Juno).

Eric Cartman - Still an asshole. Is trying his best. Has chilled down a lot since 4th grade. Was put on medication and sent to therapy after being diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder, with the help of Juno. Almost flunked out of high school, Juno tutored him which led to discovering his mental illness. Is surprisingly a lot better after starting medication. He pretends not to tolerate anyone but actually has a soft spot for his friends. Is slowly working his way up to being forgiven, even by Kyle. Forgets to take his meds and can be insufferable when Liane doesn’t remind him.

Butters - still the sweetest boy alive. Was diagnosed with autism, with Juno’s help. Brought both Juno and Kenny to Hawaii, they’re his favorite people. Juno is the only one allowed to call him Leo. He’s softened up a lot after discovering that he isn’t crazy his mind is just a little different. Owns a cat named Oatmeal, she’s basically his service cat.

Craig Tucker - Cousins with the Marsh family (Laura is Randy’s sister). Very close with Juno, has a fake rivalry with Stan. Smoking buddies with Juno and Kenny.

Tweek Tweak - works for tweak bros with his family. Juno and Craig convinced him to form a new recipe for coffee, and has slowly derailed him from his meth addiction. He still has raging anxiety but is getting healthier. Tweek and Craig have been together since 4th grade.

Wendy Testaburger - Has been dating Stan off and on since 4th grade. Good friends with Juno Marsh, even if her and Stan are on a break.

people who are constantly calling m/m shippers misogynists for not shipping one of the men with a woman are not doing anything good to combat fandom misogyny(also including a female character in a ship but only ever talking about her in reference to the men in her life isn’t that much better than people who only make said female character a lesbian because they don’t want to seem like they’re bashing her for not giving her any actual importance in the story or complex character).

Also Lily has been treated a million times better than Tonks by jegulus. There are hundreds of wolfstar stories bashing Tonks for literally no good reason, and erasing her from Teddy’s life, while most Lily bashing has always been done by Snape stans. I think a lot of Jily fans on here who are m/m haters need to look at things hardcore Snape fans say about Lily🥴 even when it comes to Harry being Jegulus’s child Jegulus shippers seem to do it in a better way than wolfstar shippers did to Tonks, even if i do dislike the idea of Harry not being Lily & James or at least Sirius’s som. I hate Jegulus(it’s deeply OOC and if James was going to be in a relationship with a death eater it should be Peter but i digress) but i feel like people are watering down actual fandom misogyny

fandom misogyny when it comes to Lily usually takes the form of Snape fans bashing her for ending a lowkey toxic friendship, from people who only see her character as a mother and nothing else, and people who say she’s deeply underdeveloped even though we know quite a bit about her personality from the Prince’s tale(a lot more than we know about Regulus at least). Misogynistic jegulus fans are most likely to believe the latter about her. It’s not my fault you decided to ignore the personality of a female character because you were focusing on other things

I was wondering, (if you have the time &/or energy) if you would be for writing a Roman, who instead of just turning into a small child (I love that fic btw), he (they) also turn into a girl. Because in Roman's sweet mind, Princes (and Princesses) save the day but only princesses get saved from the big bad in the end. (Not exactly but unfortunately there's more evidence for than against.) So, when Roman feels overwhelmed and upset and horrid, welcome the little princess, except no one knows because how silly, how selfish, how childish to turn into a little girl because that's the only way you think anyone will hold you and protect you and save you, even from yourself? 

If you like the idea, could you maybe include C!Thomas who keeps seeing her out of the corner of his eye and freaking out because why is there a small child in his house?!

It isn’t uncommon for some of the Imagination’s creations to get loose in the rest of the Mindscape, so when Thomas catches sight of a little girl in a sparkly dress near the window, he doesn’t pay her much mind. 

At least at first. But then she keeps showing up, and no one seems to be able to understand why. Remus says as long as they bring her back to the Imagination, everything should be fine, but then why does she keep appearing?

And where is Roman?

It isn’t uncommon for some of the Imagination’s creations to get loose in the rest of the Mindscape, so when Thomas catches sight of a little girl in a sparkly dress near the window, he doesn’t pay her much mind. Odds are she’s simply wandered a bit far away from the door on accident and Roman or Remus will be along to fetch her any moment. 

But then he takes another step closer and she startles terribly, almost falling over. Her eyes go wide and she brings her hands up to shield herself. 

“Hey, whoa, I’m sorry,” Thomas says quickly, crouching down, “I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m not gonna hurt you, see? I’m just over here.”

The little girl lowers her hands slowly, eyeing him warily as she presses herself against the wall. 

“See?” He waves. “It’s only me. I’m just a—well, I’m just a person. I’m not gonna hurt you.”

When she doesn’t seem to move anymore, he sits, crossing his legs. 

“Are you lost?” She glances at the window. “Did you want to look outside?”

“Mhm.”

“Are your parents anywhere nearby? Do you know?”

“They’re not here.”

“Okay. Do you need help finding them?”

“No.”

This isn’t getting them anywhere. Thomas glances over his shoulder. Where are the twins?

“Hey, hey, it’s okay, don’t cry,” he says when he looks back to see her eyes welling up with tears, “it’s okay, I—um, oh, god, I’m not good at this.”

Patton. Patton’s good at this. Let’s get Patton here. 

“Thomas? What’s going on, I heard—oh, hey.”

Thank God. Patton’s voice softens immediately upon seeing the crying child and he’s crouching down too, holding his arms out. 

“Hey, sweetheart,” he murmurs, “are you okay? Are you scared?”

The little girl nods, still tucked against the wall. Patton makes a sympathetic noise. 

“Do you need help, sweetheart? Can you tell us what’s going on?”

“’M scared.”

“I’m sorry you’re scared. Do you want a hug?”

The little girl scrambles up and into his arms, letting him scoop her into a cuddle and tuck her head under his chin. He lets out more soothing noises as he rubs her back, rocking her slightly back and forth. 

“What’s your name, sweetheart?”

“R-Rose.”

“Rose? That’s a very pretty name,” he says, pulling back to wipe the tears from her cheeks, “just like your dress. That’s a very sparkly dress, sweetheart, I like it a lot.”

Watery giggles clear the rest of the tears from her eyes as Patton picks her up. 

“Did you get lost, sweetheart? Do you need to go back to the Imagination?”

Rose nods, fingers curling shyly into Patton’s shirt. 

“Can I carry you there? Yeah? Okay, let’s go.”

Rose looks over Patton’s shoulder at Thomas as they walk off. Thomas waves and she waves back. 

Huh.

When Thomas sees the little girl by the window again, he coughs before he gets too close. 

“Rose, right?”

“Yeah.” She shifts a bit, adjusts her sparkly dress before looking at the window. “‘M Rose.”

“Are you lost again?”

“No. I like looking out the window.”

“Can I come sit with you?”

“Uh-huh.”

Thomas sits next to her, catching sight of a crown sitting next to her that he doesn’t remember seeing before. “Is that yours?”

“The crown? Mhm, ’s mine.”

“Are you a princess?”

Rose glances at him, then back out the window. “I guess.”

He frowns. “Do you…does that make you sad? Being a princess?”

“Why does the sky do that?”

“Huh?” He looks out the window. “Do what?”

“Change colors like that when the sun goes down.” Rose points at the reds and yellows at the horizon, moving her fingers slowly up to the darkening sky. “Why do they do that?”

“Well, it’s because—uh, actually, let’s ask one of my friends.”

“Thomas?” Logan rises up behind them. “You called?”

“Can you explain why the sky changes colors when the sun sets? Rose is curious.”

It’s a wonderful thing, he decides, to watch Logan’s eyes brighten at the thought of teaching someone something new. 

“Well,” he says, taking a seat next to them, “light from the sun is made up of many different colors. All the colors of the rainbow.”

“Is that why rainbows happen when it rains?”

“Yes. The water from the rain acts as a prism, which is something that splits light into all its different colors.”

“But how does it tell the colors apart?”

“Every color of the rainbow has a different wavelength, do you know what that means?” Logan holds out his hand and produces a slinky. “Here, take one end of this.”

Rose takes the slinky and Logan stretches it out, explaining what wavelengths are by wiggling one end of the slinky up and down so it makes a wave. 

“So all of light has a wavelength?”

“Each color has its own wavelength, that’s right. When they have to travel through something, the wavelengths can get split up. That’s why rainbows form.”

“But it’s not traveling through anything when the sun sets, it’s just going through the sky.”

“What’s the sky made of?”

Rose frowns. “Nothing?”

“Not quite. It’s made up of air, lots of air molecules.” Logan lifts his hand and taps different points on the window. “And so when the light hits all the different molecules, it scatters.”

“Like a pinball machine?” 

Logan chuckles. “Yes, Rose, like a pinball machine. And when that happens during the day, the blue and green light scatters the most because their wavelength is the shortest.”

“Is that why the sky’s blue?”

“Yes, that’s right.” Logan points at the sun disappearing below the horizon. “And so when the sun goes down, all the blue and green light goes away very quickly, which means that we see the red and yellow light.”

Rose looks out the window again, tracing the path Logan drew with his fingers. “So red takes the longest?”

“Yes, that’s right.”

Rose grows quiet, leaning against Logan’s shoulder. He glances at Thomas—who’s just been sitting here, dude—and sighs, resigning himself to being a pillow for a while. It’s not that bad when you get used to it. 

“You’re falling asleep, Rose,” he points out softly when the sky’s darkened fully, “shall we take you back to the Imagination?”

Rose mumbles sleepily but lets Logan pick her up and carry her off, waving at Thomas again. Thomas waves back, glancing out the window as they leave. 

Logan’s explanation means that all the other colors are always there, they’re just never seen until the sun goes down. He’s not quite sure how he feels about that. 

Or why Rose seemed to care so much.

He doesn’t see Rose for a while, not until the next big thunderstorm.

He walks past the window to see one of the curtains trembling and he sighs, already reaching out for Virgil. 

“Hey, Thomas, what’s up?”

Thomas nods to the shaking curtain. “I think one of the Imagination’s people is here. Her name’s Rose, she’s a princess, I think she’s scared.”

Virgil glances over and bites back a curse. “Have you been able to get ahold of Roman or Remus?”

“You’re the best at dealing with scared people.”

“Gee, thanks.”

“I…can’t tell if that was sincere or not.”

“Yeah, neither can I.” Virgil crouches down near the bundle of fabric, voice gentling to a low rumble. “Hey, Princess, you in there?”

A soft squeak. 

“It’s okay, Princess, I’m not gonna hurt you. My name’s Virgil, what’s your name?”

“R-Rose.”

“Hi, Rose, it’s nice to meet you. Hey, hey,” he murmurs when another crash of thunder makes her squeak, “it’s okay, Princess, you just listen to me, okay? I’m right here, I’m not going anywhere.”

“O-okay.”

“I’ve never met a princess before,” he says softly, “I think that’s really neat.”

“You do?”

“Oh, yeah. Princesses are…real cool.” He makes a face that makes Thomas bite back a laugh. “I like all their stories. There are so many stories about princesses, they’re all people can talk about. I think they’re super interesting.”

A little head peeks out from under the curtain. “Yeah?”

“Yeah, Princess. Do you have a favorite princess story?”

“…Cinderella.”

“‘Cinderella?’ That’s a good one, I like that one too. I like hearing about all the magic where the pumpkin gets turned into a chariot.”

“…I like the end.”

“The end?” Bit by bit, Virgil coaxes Rose out of the curtain and into the lea of him where she doesn’t have to see the storm. “What about the ending’s your favorite?”

“She gets saved,” Rose says, toying with her dress that looks a bit less sparkly in the stormy light, “an’—an’ that’s okay.”

“It’s okay that she gets saved?” Rose nods. “Why’s that your favorite bit?”

Rose opens her mouth to answer when there’s another flash. She squeaks, lunging forward to wrap her arms around Virgil. 

“Whoa, whoa, hey, shh, Princess, it’s okay, I gotcha. You’re doing great.” He rubs her back. “Why don’t you finish what you were telling me about Cinderella?”

But Rose isn’t talking anymore, quivering like a leaf in Virgil’s arms. He rocks her back and forth in his lap, shooting concerned glances at Thomas who has just accepted he’s going to be mostly useless right now. 

“Hey,” he tries again, “let’s get you back home, okay? I’m sure there’s a lot of people there that’d be willing to help you. Is that okay? It’s probably not storming there either.”

Rose sniffles as Virgil slowly stands up, carrying her off down the hall. As they pass Thomas, Rose reaches out and clutches the fabric of his shirt for a moment. He awkwardly pats her hand and she lets go. 

He glances out the window before drawing the curtains, wondering what she could’ve meant by it’s okay that she’s saved.

When he gets to the window again, he is expecting to see Rose. 

He is not expecting to see Janus already there, sprawled out in the sunlight and a nervous little princess a few feet away. 

“Well,” Janus hisses, drawing himself up, “what have we here? A little morsel, wandered too far from home?”

Part of Thomas wants to step forward, tell Janus to knock it off, not to scare her, but Rose doesn’t seem all that scared. So he hovers in the hallway, ready to step in if he has to. 

“Foolish little princess,” Janus hisses, doing his very best impression of a Disney villain, “don’t you know it’s dangerous to explore on your own?”

“I’ve been here before,” Rose says, crossing her arms and stamping her foot, “and you’ve never been here.”

“Mm, or have I?” Janus moves a bit closer, arms reaching out for her. “Maybe I’ve been here the whole time and you just haven’t seen me.”

“N-no, I would notice you.”

“Would you?”

“Yes,” she says, firmer this time, “I would notice you. You’re big and yellow and black and I would see you.”

Janus chuckles. “Clever little princess. Tell me, what brings you all the way out here?”

“I sit here. I like to look out of the window.”

“Oh? And what do you do? Survey your kingdom?”

“This isn’t my kingdom.”

“No?” Janus curls up lazily, still inching towards her. “Then where is your kingdom? How can you be a princess without a kingdom?”

“I have one,” Rose insists, “it just isn’t here.”

“Mm. It’s trouble for a princess to leave her kingdom without a knight or a guard,” Janus says, kneeling up to loom over her a bit. “Who knows what could happen, especially when she wanders into a snake’s den?”

“Why did you come here?”

“For the sunlight, little princess, and for you.”

Rose squeals as he playfully wraps his arms around her—no, Thomas doesn’t understand why he has six arms if he’s a snake—and pulls her into his lap. “Why do you want sunlight?”

“Snakes are cold, little princess, and sunlight is so warm.” He hisses gently in her ear to make her giggle. “And so are you. Snakes steal heat, little princess, maybe I should steal some from you.”

“N-no,” she giggles, “it’s my heat, you can’t take it! It’s mine!”

“Oh, but I can, little princess, I can steal your heat from you right now.”

Thomas watches somewhat spellbound as Janus gently tickles Rose until she’s laughing properly, all fear gone as they sit together in the sunlight. When she bats at his hands he stops, cuddling her to his chest and sighing contentedly. 

“Thank you for your heat, little princess,” he murmurs, kissing her cheek, “see? It’s not so bad.”

Rose lets out a squeaky little yawn and curls up, letting him hold her. 

“Why don’t we have a nap,” he suggests, adjusting his position to lean against the wall, still in the sunlight, “hmm? Will you nap in the sunlight with me?”

“Mhm.”

“That’s a good little princess.”

When Rose is asleep, little snores filling the hallway, Janus glances over at Thomas who shrugs. 

“How long has she been…coming here?”

“I don’t know.”

“Do the twins know?”

Thomas frowns. “You know what? I don’t actually think I’ve seen them since she started showing up.”

Janus hums. “That’s not ideal. I’ve spoken to Remus recently, I’ll ask him what he knows.”

Rose stirs in his lap and they quiet, waiting until she falls back asleep. 

“You got her?”

“Yes. I’ll bring her back to the Imagination when she wakes.”

“Will you read with me?”

Thomas blinks in surprise when Rose holds out a book. He takes it carefully and sits down, opening it and propping it on his lap so she can see. “What do you want to read?”

“Can we read the story about The Paperbag Princess?”

“Sure. Do you want to read?”

“Mhm.”

They turn to the page with the title. Rose reaches out and underlines the words with her finger as they go. They read through the first few pages before she stops. 

“How big do you think that paper bag is?”

“Well, it’s big enough for her to wear it like a dress, so pretty big.”

“Where do you get paper bags that big? What do you carry in them?”

“Maybe she got it at the store. To carry her groceries in.”

“Hm.”

They keep reading. They get to the bit about the dragon fight and Rose pauses, looking at the dragon. 

“Why did the dragon not just eat the prince? Isn’t that what they’re supposed to do?”

“Maybe this dragon’s different.”

Rose’s face pinches a little as they keep going, finally getting to the part about the prince being disappointed with what the Paperbag Princess looks like. 

“…that’s not very nice of him.”

“No, it isn’t.” Thomas shifts to ease a cramp in his leg. “I think he should’ve said thank you.”

“I think he should’ve saved himself.”

Thomas looks up at her. “What makes you say that?”

“He’s the prince. Princes aren’t supposed to need saving. Princesses are.”

Now, we don’t have time to unpack all of that… “This princess didn’t need saving, did she?”

Rose chews on her lip. “No…I guess not.”

“So maybe this prince did need saving.”

“But he’s not happy about being saved. Only princesses are ever happy about being saved. Princes don’t get saved, not like princesses do. People only like it when the prince saves himself. We’re not supposed to like when the princess saves the prince or when the prince gets saved by someone else. ‘Cause he’s always awful when he gets saved.”

Thomas looks at Rose for a long moment. Then he carefully closes the book and sets it aside, resting his hand on her shoulder. 

“What’s wrong, Rose?”

“Nothing.”

“You’re upset, I can tell. What’s going on?”

She glances at the book again. “I’m a princess. I’m supposed to be saved.”

“That’s not all princesses can do, they can save things too. Even themselves.”

“But princes don’t get saved,” she says, still frowning, “they—they don’t get protected. They’re supposed to do the protecting. That doesn’t seem fair.”

“No,” Thomas agrees, “no, I suppose not.”

Where is this going?

But Rose doesn’t say anything else, just burrows into his arms and wraps her arms around his neck. She’s silent as they sit there, not saying a word for what feels like hours. When she does finally move again, she just picks up the book and turns, walking down the hall without another word. 

Thomas stares after her and can’t help but feel like he’s missed something very important.

It’s the first time he’s managed to coax Rose away from the window, taking her hand and walking her downstairs to the living room where the others are gathered. Each of them waves, Patton smiling and crouching down to give her a hug. 

“Are you going to have the meeting with us too?”

“Mhm.”

“Don’t feel as though you need to say anything,” Logan assures, “we’ll be more than happy for just your company.”

“We’ll behave, Princess, promise.”

Thomas ruffles her hair as she stands next to him. “Do we know where the others are?”

“I haven’t seen Roman yet this morning, but Remus is on his way.”

Thomas opens his mouth again when Rose suddenly clutches his pant leg. “Hey, what’s going on?”

No sooner has he asked does Remus appear, grinning at all of them startling at his appearance. “What’s got you all looking like a kraken just bit your butts?”

His eyes fall on Rose and he freezes. 

“Behave, Remus,” Janus says lowly, “she’s from the Imagination. Don’t scare her.”

“It’s okay, sweetheart,” Patton coos, “he won’t hurt you. He just looks a little scary.”

Rose cowers behind Thomas’s leg, refusing to budge even as they assure her it’s okay, Remus won’t hurt her. 

“Tell her, Remus,” Virgil says, elbowing him, “tell her you’re not gonna hurt her.”

Remus doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t even move, still staring at Rose like his eyes are about to fall out of his head.

“…Ro?”

Rose peeks out at him, one eye watching as he lowers himself to the ground, snapping his fingers and changing into a uniform of some sort, still black and green but different. 

“It’s okay, Ro,” he says hoarsely, “it’s okay.”

Rose wails, tearing herself from Thomas’s side and throwing herself at Remus who catches her and pulls her into his lap, curling around her protectively. He nuzzles her hair and strokes the back of her head, letting her cry into his chest. 

The rest of them watch, thunderstruck. 

“It’s okay, Roro,” Remus keeps mumbling, “it’s okay. I gotcha, Roro, you’re okay.”

“‘Roro?’” Virgil glances at the others. “But that’s what he calls…”

The realization hits them all at the same time. 

The princess, worrying about the color red, being so scared of each of them but still coming back to the same place, who saves the prince?

Thomas looks at the little girl in Remus’s arms. 

Oh. 

Oh. 

Oh, no. 

“Roman,” he says weakly, “Rose is Roman.”

Remus glances up at them. “What happened,” he growls, still holding Roman tight to his chest, “why did this happen?”

“I don’t know,” Thomas says weakly, “she just—he just—Roman just showed up like this one day and I…none of us knew what to do.”

“Why did Roman become a princess?”

“Because princesses get saved,” Logan says, shock giving way to horrified resignation, “princesses are…protected, comforted…they’re the ones who get saved, not the princes.”

Patton makes a noise of dismay and Virgil bites back a curse. “Roman thought this was the only way we would care?”

“It was,” Janus hisses, slowly crouching too, “because we saw a princess in need of rescuing and…didn’t question it.”

Thomas crouches too, watching Remus murmur something in Roman’s ear. “Remus, can Roman…turn back?”

“I’m not sure Roman wants to turn back right now.” 

“What can we do, then?”

“Right now?” Remus looks down. “What do you need, Roro?”

Arms tighten on Remus as he pulls away and he quickly comes back, hugging Roman to his chest and standing up. 

“It’s cuddle time,” he announces, “all of you move it.”

A mattress forms in the middle of the living room and the others quickly make sure the blankets and pillows have been moved as Remus sits down, still cradling Roman in his lap. Thomas sits next to him, smiling when Roman peeks out to look at him. 

“Hey, Roman,” he murmurs, smiling when Roman looks at him a little more, “you wanna cuddle?”

Roman nods and he opens his arms, letting the little one crawl from Remus into his lap. He can feel the weight of Remus’s stare on the side of his face and he takes care to be extra gentle as he lies down, Roman on his chest. 

“Get in here, the rest of you.”

“We’re coming.”

“Remus,” he hears Logan say quietly, “can you…explain a bit more later?”

“If Roro says it’s okay.”

“Lift your head,” Patton says, slipping a pillow behind his neck, “there.”

“I’ll keep watch,” Virgil says, perching on the edge of the mattress, “for Roman’s sake.”

Remus nods approvingly, holding Roman’s hand as it reaches out for him. “Go to sleep, Roro, we can figure everything else out later.”

Thomas glances down at Roman, whose other hand has twisted shyly into his shirt. He cards his fingers through Roman’s hair. 

“You can sleep if you want,” he whispers, “you’re safe now.”

Later, when the sky is dark and the lights have long faded, Thomas wakes when the weight on his chest suddenly increases. He tries to sit up without disturbing the snores and whistles he can hear around him, looking down. 

Roman, the Roman they know, is asleep, head pillowed on his chest, hand still intertwined with Remus’s. 

Guess the prince got saved this time too.

Omg, same! I always felt a little like the odd one out for making my Cousland a fantasy catholic asshole; like, everyone else seemed to love this warden origin. But… I just do not care about playing as a human noble, lmao. I’m probably a bit biased, but part of the appeal of playing as the warden is that they are not who your typical Andastrian would choose as a hero—they are an elf, or a dwarf, or a mage! Hell, even playing as Aeducan is much more interesting; no one on the surface gives a shit that they were once royalty. To everyone there, they are just a dwarf.

honestly in many ways, aedan was not intended to become who he was but i made him and during his origin i was like yea this makes sense. i basically made aedan, hated him, and then was like wait. he can be a stock villain for all my banal evil needs. the way bioware keeps reverting canon to what they need it to be despite player choice in dao made sense with my cousland as prince-consort.

i SUPPOSE fem!cousland could get interesting to me (i do kinda stan her for propositioning duncan in front of her dad. m!couslands wish they had balls like that) esp if she actually enjoys being a warden so refuses to take the throne or idk marries alistair without having romanced him For Ferelden or something but i guess the almost fairytale-esque possibilities of the cousland pt doesnt always jive with me. & i think its the same for me in dai too, where i only really enjoy playing a mage trevelyan and all my non-mage trevelyans become stock villains for me to use in my narrative if i need a piece of shit noble for some nefarious thing.

Why are we called derangers? I've been thinking about this label we've been given and trying to make sense of it. In this sub, we discuss H&M and what they get up to.
