#i shouldn’t have to be some queer
Text
existing as a queer person who isn’t exceptionally educated on politics is so funny because i’m as educated as i need to be to live sustainably but it’s not enough to justify my existence to some people. obviously i strive to be informed on things that are important but it is simply not feasible for my mental health to keep up with all of the things that these people deem me required to be an expert on.

Sometimes I just think about Soi Fon. Like that shit was so insane. Easily one of The characters of all time. You’re going to give me a woman who hates the physical manifestation of her soul because it’s loud and explosive and she doesn’t think it’s “proper” that it suits her, but it’s so obvious it does because she’s angry and stubborn and loud and explosive!!! And then the fact that she never ever calls upon that physical manifestation of her soul until things are so dire it’s practically that or death? The fact that in so many ways she lets her emotions build and build and build until they quite literally explode???? And then!!! AND THEN!!!! Add in that she hates her bankai because it’s “inappropriate” for an assassin… for her role as captain of the Stealth Force… the position she inherited from Yoruichi after she abandoned Soul Society for Urahara… She despises the physical manifestation of her explosive nature, the nature she hides until she can’t, just like she shoved down her feelings for Yoruichi, the betrayal, the hurt, the love, until she quite literally couldn’t anymore and it all came back up in a BANG!!! Like god… oh my god, no one will ever do it again and kubo did not deserve such a cool fucking character in the least

I think when talking about how a queer ship is “basically canon” you have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Go beyond the in-universe explanations of “gay marriage isn’t legal here” etc, and consider the reasons a piece of media is giving you these excuses.
Think about it logically: if a story is choosing not to depict any form of real life homophobia other than “we can’t get married”, then there should be no reason not to have these characters explicitly say they are dating. And you can’t ignore the actually practiced alternatives to marriage like the partnership certification system available in more and more parts of Japan (it’s still a long way from equal rights, but it is not meaningless!).
All of this is to say, this is just another example of using pausible deniability in depictions of queerness in order to keep mass appeal. And let’s not forget, Ensemble Stars is a franchise mainly targeted at women, and Anzu / the producer is an audience insert character meant to let readers imagine having a relationship of their own with these characters if they so desire.

“we catholics have to convert protestants because it’s a Worse Brand of christianity” “i (an evangelical) think a lot of catholics are actually going to hell” “the Bible is so clear that homosexuality is a sin” “the Bible isn’t up for interpretation just read it” “modesty is only to prevent the unfortunate visual men from stumbling”. let’s all get offline, touch Creation and pray. okay?

Listen, I love the LGBTQ+ community as much as any other queer person. But we have got to stop ostracizing people in our community to fit in with cishetallo people.
Some of y’all really do go ‘these are the acceptable boxes for queer people and their definitions, anyone outside of these is actually not queer and making us look bad’ and act like that’s ok. Now that being queer is generally acceptable in online/progressive areas (as long as you are one of the ‘well known’ orientations), a big part of the community has started regulating what’s ‘acceptable’ of a queer person and how we should fit into society.
I’ll see people hating on trans people who don’t fit into the ‘normal’ expectation of ‘Trans girl, Trans boy, or Non-binary’ or use Neo pronouns because that’s how they feel the most comfortable. I’ll see people hating on queer people who don’t like labels ( or try to assign people one even if they don’t want it). Or people who use a label in a way they don’t like (bi people who mostly date the opposite sex, lesbians who use pronouns other than just she/her, gender non-conforming people who don’t identify as trans, obscure micro-labels, etc.)
And it’s so frustrating because we as LGBTQ+ are supposed to be better!!! We are supposed to empathize with the feeling of not fitting in with regular society and help others like us! But the community has become part of the oppressive ‘societal standard’ for some people.
Some people just can’t be put into a perfect little label box and a lot of y’all aren’t cool about that. And I can’t believe I have to tell my fellow queers this, but there is nothing wrong with denying societal standards in order to live in the way that is genuine to you and makes you happy. End of story. If you disagree with that, look inward at your internal biases and try and fix that. Get rid of the cop in your brain telling you that you have to police others self-expression.
#look man I am just TIRED of having to pick from a bunch of different boxes to feel like I’m REALLY LGBTQ+#as far as I care I’m queer#and if that label changes as I grow?#good for me#That’s something y’all need to get cool with too#labels changing over time#I just don’t feel like most big labels really fit me and I don’t really want to use micro labels#not a micro-label hate post btw#love y’all and glad you’re happy- it’s just not for me#like you could probably find some obscure aspects label to describe me#but is that anyones business other than maybe my future partner if I get one?#I don’t OWE people an explanation to me and how I experience attraction#I’m also tired of seeing people shoved into being LGBTQ+ just for going beyond gender norms#like y’all will say ‘yeah I’m normal about feminine men’ but won’t believe that a feminine man is cishetallo#which in turn is why a lot of cishetallo men don’t feel comfortable being feminine#I have a lot of feelings about this#but anyway you don’t owe society anything and you shouldn’t have to change how you present yourself to make them happy#unless you are actively harming someone by being yourself then I don’t care and I support you#actively harming in a ‘purposefuly harming someone’ way -not in a ‘you make other queer people look bad by not conforming to the norm’ way#I love the queer community if you can’t tell tho#I just think we can do better#cw queer#I like the label and I use it#but I get why some of y’all might not#gay#LGBT#lgbtq#lgbtqia#lgbtq community#queer

I generally know to brace myself for some bad opinions when diving into 911twt but my god does such a huge chunk of the fandom there seem to have the worst attitude about that screenshot. So so many people just so fuckin’ gleeful about an accidental outting. I’ve had to mute & block so many people that I that this seems like it’s really gonna be the final straw for me with 911twt.

had a convo with someone about fandom and writing and moralization and purity culture and they were against it and yet when we started talking about problematic media and authors the arguments they used were literally the same as moralizing arguments
still trying to understand their logic
won’t go into too much more bc they’re on tumblr too but I’m still thinking about it
think I came off as a dick bc I didn’t just nod my head and agree
but mostly I’m just real fucking tired

No offence but I feel like some people got a little too comfortable with telling people to touch grass and swung all the way round to just straight up shaming anyone who might have a less active social life than them to feel better about themselves. “She should be at the club” was a really funny meme until people started acting like fucking middle school bullies towards people who don’t go out with their friends a lot. All those drinking/drugs/sex milestone polls were fun to engage with until it became a wierd circlejerk making fun of people who haven’t done those things before. People on twitter are once again dogpiling someone for wanting queer social spaces that don’t revolve around alcohol or loud music and telling them it’s their own fault for not having friends.
Like I get that nightclubs and sex have strong ties to queer culture and are often the first targets in the hellscape of respectability politics. It’s important we remember our roots and protect these spaces from conservative scrutiny. I mean that. They are important. But just on a surface level it seems like people are starting to see having an inactive social life as some kind of moral failing which…it’s not. I feel like an insane person for feeling like I have to say this on the fucking queer autism website but like. You aren’t inherently a bad person if you don’t have friends. You aren’t “falling behind” if you haven’t had your first kiss in your 20s or never done drugs. The real world isn’t a movie. And if you see someone who doesn’t go out much and instinctually think “wow what a terminally online loser. I bet their social life sucks because they’re a sheltered creep and not because of systemic barriers beyond their control” you need to have a long hard look at why you feel that way.
There are very real barriers that prevent isolated people from finding community and connection. Do you think you’re superior for being able to breach them? Time, money, sobriety, accessibility, none of those factors were a problem for you, so it shouldn’t be for them, right? Right?

I wiped out so hard tonight my KNEES
#I fell over. so many times. including two of the worst falls I’ve had in a WHILE#god the first one literally like minute and a half on the ice i lose a foot under me and do the splits. crash into the barriers#I am notably Not flexible I cannot do the splits. I don’t know how I kept skating afterwards#the worst fall I have ever had however was right at the end and the thing that made me get off#we were playing a thing and both me and this other guy we’re trying to catch this girl who turned out to be Also going very fast#three way collision all falling forwards on top of each other#we SLID there were BLADES BY MY HEAD im lucky im short im amazed nobody got actually hurt#except like. my knees which are now staging a coup I rlly should ice them but I don’t have ice and I just wanna sleep#but GOD tonight was a mixed bag#i have acquired the instagram and will probably get him on committee if he sends me the thing#also slowly thinking hrm yeah he’s probably straight#anyway good news: i think we’re pretty solidly friends now. bad news: prooobably regrettably heterosexual#idk straight guys shouldn’t be allowed to be cute and funny and good at skating it’s not fair#aaaanyway. it’s my own fault bc I meet most new people through hockey now and this sport is pretty notoriously not queer#it’s a little different here but the people who end up Good are largely not yknow. and I am unfortunately into guys who can skate#also they end up being the people I actually get to talk to with what I do. dumb as hell. they should invent gay hockey players#anyway my assessment is still vibes based there’s time for me to be proven wrong but we will see. it’d be funny if he was queer after this#will think abt texting him on a day that isn’t tomorrow bc tomorrow’s gonna be too much and I would like to have some time to chill sometime#anyway this is my periodic reminder to myself that I’m literally just Allowed to have feelings. fucked up that it’s true#but like it’s just. allowed. and it’s not even that I’m dumb or have bad taste or smth like that and over like what.#almost two years? there have been 5 guys total. mr prick who WAS queer unfortunately. and while the other four did turn out to be straight#that was due to 1. guy literally had rainbow fucking stick tape and Everyone thought he was gay. also I was just kinda fucking around there#2. talked to him like three times before asking him out. agrees to dinner bc he thinks it’s funny. 3. many signals bc bunch of queer friends#still unconfirmed but be does have a girlfriend ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 4. okay maybe I should know better by now but he’s cute okay I’m allowed to hope#it’s not even like I’ve DONE anything other than talk to him dude you’re fine you’re allowed to feel things#aaaanyway. bed now. eepy. will talk to him later. he complimented my hair okay I’m done now going to sleep#very sorry to anyone who reads these tags for just going on abt this guy but also no I’m not scroll down#luke.txt
