So a long while ago @lamieboo tagged me in this post (I'm not reblogging bcs it'll be way too long sorry đ˘) I made some art and wrote a whole one shot for it because it was the perfect opportunity for a Winter lore I've always wanted to make. Please be kind lol đ I haven't written in ages and I'm such a noob when it comes to writing, also English isn't my native language. I had to run my draft through multiple writing tools back and forth to find better phrasings and dictions that better express what I want to convey. Roughly ~1,000 words.
Green and Gold
She stepped forward as the wardrobe creaked open, the boggart slipping through the narrow gap in the door. Long, flowing golden threads emerged first, and Winter drew in a sharp breath.
The rest of the boggart soon took formâa woman in a pale blue dress, slumped weakly on the floor, her calf bleeding from a deep slash. Golden locks framed her worried face, and her piercing blue eyes, so much like Winterâs own, locked onto hers. Winterâs hand instinctively went up to the scar across her left eye. The womanâs chest heaved with silent breaths. The faint murmur of the students lining up behind Winter faded until she could hear nothing. Then, the womanâs lips parted, as if to speak.
âClose your eyes, snowflake.â
Was that truly her motherâs voice? Winter couldnât remember if boggarts could speak. Could they mimic human voices? Or was it only mouthing the words while the voice echoed from somewhere deep within her mind?
Her hands went clammy. A bead of sweat ran down the side of her face.Â
She knows whatâs coming next. Behind her motherâs beautiful, tear-streaked face, a blinding green light appeared. Winter swiftly squeezed her eyes shut and raised her wand. âRiddikulus,â she whispered, her voice trembling as she kept her eyelids tightly closed.
¡ ¡ âââââââ ¡â â
â¡ âââââââ ¡ ¡ Sebastian went pale, even as the swirling Mallowsweet leaves spun into a twister before him, which without question, the most mesmerising form of the Riddikulus charm he had ever seen. It wasnât a form he would laugh at, unlike most transformations of the charm. It was breathtaking. But no, what had truly gripped him was the green light that followed her motherâs appearance. He had never seen Winter like thisâparalysed by fear, gasping for breath, drenched in sweat. She was always so composed, so captivating. Full of life, curiosity, and wonder.
He hadnât realised this was her deepest fear.
And it was the very same curse he had cast just last year. On his uncle. Right in front of her. What had she looked like back then? He couldnât quite remember. The sound of her laboured breathing lingered faintly in his mind, and he recalled her standing frozen for a moment before following him as he fled the catacombs. But the look on her faceâhe had no memory of it. Was she shocked? Horrified? Traumatised? He had been too distraught, too consumed by his own turmoil, to notice. Merlin, how must she have felt? Watching her best friend cast the Killing Curseâthe very same curse that had taken her motherâs lifeâright in front of her? His throat went dry. His insides twisted painfully. Clenching his hands into fists, he dug his nails into his palms.
Was this⌠was this the reason she had refused to learn the spell? Not that he had wanted her to; in fact, he had been relieved when she didnât. But it left him with questions. She was his kindred spirit, after all, and he knew the Dark Arts intrigued her, even if it was purely out of curiosity and for the sake of knowing. She wanted to learn, and had learned the other two curses. He had thought, perhaps, she would eventually ask about the last one, even though he wasnât sure if he could bear to teach herânot after what happened to Solomon, to himself.
To Anne. But she was adamant in her refusal to learn it. She had said so out of the blue, when they began speaking again after the catacombsâafter weeks of silence between them. Now, he finally understood why. And his heart broke for her. âSebastian? Sebastian, what just happened?â Ominisâ voice snapped him back to reality. His best friendâs face was filled with concern, surely anxious for not being able to see whatâs happening. Just this time, Sebastian is glad he couldnât. He wouldnât want Ominis to witness her in such a state. He opened his mouth to respond, but nothing came out. He tried again, but his gaze drifted to Winter, who was slowly making her way towards them from the front of the line. Another studentâArthur Plummly, perhapsâstepped forward to face the boggart, but Sebastian hardly noticed. His focus was solely on Winter, her head bowed, arms wrapped tightly around herself, her body trembling slightly. âWinterâŚâ She looked up at him, her eyes wide. They stood there for a moment, locked in each other's gaze. âI⌠Iâm sorry.â He finally managed to speak. âWhat... what are you apologising for?â So much. Even though heâd already apologised to her and Ominis countless times, he hasnât apologised for this one. âYouâyou know why.â He knew she understood. Theyâd always had a way of reading each other, and this was one of those moments. âThatâs⌠Itâs notâyou shouldnâtâŚâ She trailed off. And Sebastian was thankful she didnât finish. Because he did feel like he should apologise. Even though hadnât known about this, what he did that day mightâve stirred up memories she had buried deep down. Just like the cursed boggart had just now. Another silence passed before he slowly pulled her into an embrace. One hand rested on her back, the other gently cradling the back of her head. She froze at first, startled, but after a moment, her body softened into his arms as he tenderly stroked her hair. From his peripheral vision, Sebastian saw Ominis approached hesitantly. His alabaster hand tentatively found Winterâs smaller one, which still hung limply at her side, and she allowed their fingers to entwine. Sebastian could see the questions lingering in his best friendâs furrowed brows, but heâs certain that Winter would talk to himâshe would explain everything to them when sheâs ready.
He glanced forward, aware of the curious eyes from the students waiting in lineâsome watching with intrigue, others with quiet sympathy. It was a peculiar view, after all: Winter with her two best friends huddled together in such an unusual position. Up front, he caught sight of Amit ducking as his boggart morphed into harmless paper planes flying about after his successful Riddikulus. Sebastian hadnât seen Amitâs boggart, but he imagined it was likely something ordinary, like a failing report card marked with a dreaded âTâ in Astronomy or History of Magic.
None of that mattered now. The only person of importance was the girl in his arms, her trembling slowly subsiding, her once-laboured breathing easing into a soft, steady rhythm.

OK I GOT 5 HOURS OF SLEEP LAST NIGHT WHICH IS PRETTY OK IG (I did stay up to read the fic-) BOTH MY TESTS WENT LIKE SHIT, I HAD AN ANXIETY ATTACK IN PROGRAMMING CLASS BECAUSE BY TEACHER IS A LITTLE SHIT WHO KEPT ON YELLING AT ME WHEN I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING AND I SPENT LUNCH ALONE BUT AT LEAST NOW IM ALONE WITH MY LAPTOP SO YAYAYAYYA
first of all, this chapter right here is my comfort chapter from now on. i said what i said. I will be rereading it again and again just because i can. it was PERFECTION
here's me going crazy at 2 am yesterday.
MAGNUS' CHAPTER
LET'S GO LET'S GO LET'S GO
AHHHHHHH IT'S THEIR ANNIVERSARY
SCREAM
oh
alec shaved his beard because it made him look older
RAFAEL WAS SO UPSET AFTER THE MEXICO ATTACK BECAUSE OF ANJALI RIGHT??
magnus and alec are the oblivious parents istg
âAre you decent?â Max yelled. âI donât want to be traumatized again.â
âHey! We agreed not to talk about that!â Alec yelled back.
Im not even surprised at this point
âHappy anniversary, bapa!â Rafael kissed him on the cheek and handed him the flowers.
âWhere are my flowers?â Alec asked.
Rafael plucked a rose from the bouquet and threw it at Alec. âHere you go.â
âThanks, son,â Alec mumbled.
IM WHEEZING
DAVID BAKES
âDavid made it,â Max said shyly. "
Oh,â Alec replied and then shrugged. âWell, the icing could be a little sweeter I think.â
Ever since Max started dating, Alec had become incredibly protective. Alec liked David of course â it was impossible to find someone who didnât. But that didnât mean Alec approved.
And it didnât help that the blond boy was absolutely terrified of Alec.
ALEC STOP TEASING HIM
THE BOY IS ALREADY SCARED
âI donât know,â Alec analysed the card. âDavid used too much glitter.â
âSince when do you have a problem with excessive glitter?â Max demanded.
ALEC
âI didnât use him!â Max huffed. âHe was thoroughly compensated for his efforts!â
âCompensated how?â Alec asked.
âUh,â Max said. âWith donuts.â
when i saw donuts i immediately thought of rose and luisa from jtv
iykyk
but should i continue the show? i got tired of jane continuously embarrasing herself
âYou expect us to follow rules?â Alec asked in surprise. âIn our own home? On our anniversary?â
The warlock boy grinned wickedly before leaning close to Alec.
âYou better do it, or I will tell everyone about your secret,â Max whispered.
Alec blinked at that.
the secret...
I DONT LIKE HOW MANY THINGS POPPED INTO MY HEAD
is highschool musical that bad? i havent watched it. should i?
what if i cried
i just wanna hug alec??? but i cant say it'll be ok because it wont
âIs that why you are not attending?â Magnus grinned at his friend. âOr is it because you are terrified of Georgia?â
âThat child is the reincarnation of Christopher Lightwood!â Ragnor complained. âI heard she made explosives out of demon ichor! Who makes explosions out of demon ichor?â
RAGNOR IS PROBABLY GETTING FLASHBACKS
THESE STUPID FUCKING BITCHES
how tf do you think we have survived huh??
medicine that's how
vaccines, anti biotics and what not
stop being close-minded and fucking do it
ok i know the risk is great
BUT OTHERWISE THEY ALL DIE
it was different for warlocks. The Shadow World was their universe. The nephilim kept it safe. At one point in their lives, they had learned to coexist with them, out of necessity and out of obligation.
And now here they were â working together in the name of friendship and love.
how things change...
what
say what
the causes are what
ok let's not jump to conclusions
im fucking crying wtf
alec doesnt deserve this shit
all he's done is make the world a better place
hes worked so hard on this
RAZIEL CAN GO FUCK HIMSELF
what am i supposed to say to my parents if one of them comes to check on me and im sitting here crying at 2 am
He didnât want to believe in a reality that would punish Alec. Alec who only wanted to do what is good and right.
Alec was who was losing his hope and strength every passing day. Alec who was struggling. Alec who was turning to desperate measures to cope with all the stress.
please alec
no please
THE ANGELS ARE BITCHES
Because if Magnus found out Raziel was the one causing all this pain for Alec, he would march up to heaven and set the bastard on fire himself.
AND I'LL GO WITH HIM
KNEW THE SPY WAS LIVVY
AWW RAGNOR LIKES SELENA THATS SO SWEET
blue and gold
STOP IT IM CRYING AGAIN
The shadowhunter was a good influence on him. Magnus hoped Alec would see it sooner rather than later.
HUH
HUHU
HUH
omg
GIGI GETTING A SIBLING
âMax isnât allowed to do a lot of things,â Magnus chuckled. âBut he does them anyway.â
thats my boi
GASP
]THE NECKLACE
rafael is growing into the consul voice
they grow up so fast
nope nope he's still the little 5 year old
voice cracking what do you mean he's 20
im glad hes happy with mila. or is he...?
Magnus had deduced as much. Alec lived in his beautifully oblivious world. But Magnus noticed.
He noticed the hickeys. He noticed the late-night visits. He noticed the tense phone calls.
well thank god there's at least one non-oblivious person (alec i love you so much but you are very very oblivious)
âWhatâs stopping you then?â Magnus asked.
"2554 miles,â Rafael chuckled sadly.
me with all my online friends
probably more miles
Magnus tried to do the math but promptly gave up.
me
But Alec did lie though. Magnus pushed the thought away.
NOT NOW
LET ME LIVE IN PEACEFUL OBLIVION
HUSH
âExcept melt it?â Rafael chuckled.
âYes,â Magnus chuckled back. âAs you can see, the bar is extremely low in the Lightwood family.â
AHHIUCCDSKUHDCV
i have no clue what the words describing the outfit are
time to google
OK PRETTY
Fifteen years. Fifteen years of loving and Alec still made his heart stutter.
dont do this to me right now I WILL CRY
âWhat the hell?â Max exclaimed. âWhy are you all dressed up?â
âIn case you havenât noticed, itâs my anniversary,â Alec chuckled.
Max-
Fifteen years. Fifteen years and Magnus still took Alecâs breath away.
HJCSDHJBJDHSGCDYGJVVC JHVDFYMJ
it's not funny MY EYES ARE WATERING
âBapak is a good looking one in the family,â Rafael pointed out. âYou are the chaotic one and I am the smart one.â
âWhat am I then?â Alec asked dryly. âA sack of potatoes?â
âYouâre the sexy one,â Magnus grinned. âA sexy sack of potatoes.â
yes.
Alec grinned back and leaned forward. Magnus put his hands around Alecâs neck and kissed him. He kissed Alec with all the love he had inside his heart.
Just like the first time. Just like the hundredth time. Just like the thousandth time.
Because with Alec, every kiss mattered. Every single one.
muffled sob
âStop making out, oh my god!â Max groaned.
Magnus sensed a pillow coming their way but Rafael caught it before it hit them.
âMax, stop!â Rafael scolded. âYou will wrinkle dadâs suit and ruin bapakâs hair! I spent hours ironing both!â
why is max me when i see people display affection in front of me
ALSO RAFAEL HKUIUIDCSKIHUDFVHJDFVHU
âThey are here,â Rafael said. âYou two better look exactly the way you did when I left with Max or I will raise hell.â
IM SCREAMING
Selena was wearing a blue crop top with the words âMIND YOUR OWN UTEREUSâ written in gold.
i need that top
DAVID'S SHIRT IS THE COLOR OF MAX'S MAGIC
AHH ISABELLE DOESNT KNOW SHE'S PREGNANT YET
The argument of âwho gave the best giftâ had started when Jace and Izzy had gotten drunk on vodka. It didnât help that Alec had gotten drunk as well. All three Lightwood siblings had then proceeded to have an argument about who had the best spouse. The whole night had been drunken chaos. Magnus, Clary and Simon had let them have it since the Lightwood siblings had a tendency to carry the world on their shoulders even when nobody asked them. They rarely ever let loose ever since their worlds had plunged into sickness and demon attacks. Especially Alec. So, Magnus had let his husband be that 18-year-old boy again. The boy who got drunk and fought with his siblings and sang songs about Magnusâ pretty eyes.
OH MY GOD THE CHAOS
Georgia considered that. âIâm not allowed to melt it, right?â
âNo,â they all replied in chorus.
LET GIGI MELT IT
SELENA IM SO PROUD OF YOU
âDad,â Max said. âCan you keep a picture of me wearing this necklace in your office?â
âWhy?â Rafael asked.
âI think it will piss off the boomers,â Max giggled.
âNice!â Lexi grinned. âA downworlder wearing a shadowhunter heirloom? They will lose their heads. Uncle Alec, you must do it.â
âI will do you one better. I will hang a tapestry,â Alec chuckled.
YASSS I CANT WAIT FOR THE SHADOWHUNTERS TO BE PISSED
AWW THEY DIDNT KNOW THE NECKLACE USED TO BELONG TO MAGNUS
he actually gave to camille first-
Why couldnât this boy just cause chaos during his travel year like the rest of them? Why did he actually study and do his research as recommended?
why would you NOT study and research during your travel year????
oh shit
well well well
david bby stfu
i love you but pls stop speaking for all our sakes
âHoly shit,â Max said. âIt is expensive then!â
âDonât pawn the ruby!â Rafael warned.
MAX NO-
OH THE STONE COMES FROM EDOM
oh no
pls dont fight
oh so i was wrong about magus confronting him from that snippet
all you need to know is im sobbing right now and grammarly is the only thing making this coherent
dont mind me just

ANYWAY
wait im gonna go check out the rain and then continue editing this
ok i got bored of the rain)
that made me laugh through my tears
âObjectively good looking?â Jace snorted. âExcuse you, but my parabatai is smoking hot! He is a freaking prize, okay? If we had a magazine for hot shadowhunters, you would be on the cover page. Every single issue.â
âOkay, thatâs enough!â Alec interrupted. âMagnus, are you happy? Now all my friends have told me I am pretty.â
âI said smoking hot,â Jace corrected.
âWe are not being biased,â Clary pointed out. âIt is the general consensus, Alec.â
âItâs true,â Lexi said. âSo many people have asked me for your number, Uncle Alec. And I would have given it to them if I wasnât worried about being turned into a marshmallow.â
LEXI DUHDUGHUDFCUHKVDFUIKFDU
âDad, I donât know why you are so worried,â Max said in a bored tone. âYouâre a told DILF.â
David choked on his champagne and Jace patted him on the back.
âWhat the hell is a DILF?â Alec demanded.
âOh, I know this one!â Jace said excitedly. âIt means Dashing and Irresistible Looking Father. Max is right, you are a total DILF.â
âMr. Herondale-â David raised a hand.
âI heard one of the shadowhunters in their travel year calling me a DILF too,â Jace said proudly.
THAT IS NOT WHAT DILF MEANS OH MY GOD
âItâs not a rumour,â Selena spoke up and passed her phone. âThere is a group chat at Scholomance just to thirst after you.â
add me to it
ALL THE COMMENTS I CANT BREATHE
âAlec Lightwood can run me over with a Maserati and I would thank him.â
âGive me that,â Izzy grabbed the phone and started giggling. âPetition for Consul Alec Lightwood-Bane to stab me with his mortal sword.â
âIsabelle!â Alec hissed, cheeks flaming. âStop it!â
âI want one!â Jace grabbed the phone now. âBy the Angel!â
âRead it!â the kids yelled in chorus.
âI would gladly let Consul Lightwood-Bane inspect my mortal instruments,â Jace chuckled and threw the phone at David.
David shook his head vehemently and threw it at Max.
âMy body is just a hole for Alec Lightwood,â Max read out loud and started laughing so hard that he fell off his chair.
Lexi grabbed the phone and giggled. âI want the Consul to strip off my runes among other things.â
She passed the phone to Gigi, who looked at the phone and look at Alec.
âUncle Alec,â the girl said. âThis person wants you to crush them with your massive archer arms.â
âGive me that,â Rafael grabbed it now. âAw, this one is a classic, dad. Alec Lightwood turned me gay.â
He threw the phone at Simon, who stared the screen and looked up. âUh, I donât think I can read this one out loud in front of the kids.
âIs this the one about the basement?â Selena chuckled and Simon nodded.
WHAT'S THE BASEMENT ONe

Jace had tried to give Max the shovel talk and had gotten a little too emotional.
of course, he did smh I love him so much
âDavid doesnât need a shovel talk,â Alec smiled. âHe knows what would happen to him if he hurts my son.â
David gulped. âYou will throw me into the silent city?â
âI will ask me husband to portal you to hell,â Alec said â Consul Voice. âWe have relatives there.â
the beloved relatives yes
âGoodnight,â Jace gave them a salute. âHave fun inspecting Magnusâ mortal instruments.â

Wind Chimes Pt 2
Summary: Sweet Pea/Reader Request: A Part two of Wind Chimes, TW: Abuse, Discussions of Abuse
You donât mean to spend the night over in Sweet Peaâs, but its almost morning anyways theres no point in going back to get yelled at more. FP doesnât push you instead asking how your momâs been doing explaining how shed stopped showing up to meetings, you in return explained how she wasnât allowed to go anywhere without Micheal, and since he wasnât a serpent he couldnât go. You try your best not to make a mess or bother sweet pea, opting to stay on the couch once FP leaves; after assuring you heâll talk with your mom. You fall asleep and wake up in the bed, sitting up and looking around the room has you identifying the suddenly odd shaped couch as having Sweet Pea sleeping on it.
You manage to sneak out, after leaving a note letting Sweet Pea know youâve just gone home. Your mothers making breakfast when you open the door, she turns cheerfully and offers you a plate, you claim youâve already eaten as her boyfriend emerges. You can tell heâs looking at you when the content look drops off his face. âThe kids back, you been slumming it with those snakes again? you know youâll just end up knocked up and alone if you try to get with them. you know they wouldnât want you as one of them right?â you donât say anything just bow your head slightly; evidentially he wanted a verbal answer with how he shoves you, repeating himself.
âi know, they wouldnât want me anyways. You donât have to worry about me Michealâ you mimic whatever you think he wants to hear, relieved when he nods and gestures to the door. âIâm not worried for you. Hanging out with gang members is putting stress on your mother and i, howâre we supposed to get anything done with you running off with who knows doing god knows what kinds of drugs and going to parties. well go on Iâm sure theyâre waiting to bring you to school, if they even go of course.â you bite your lip to avoid saying anything as you start to walk to school.
âNeed a lift y/n?â you nod as sweet pea pulls to a stop beside you, he offers you his helmet and waits till you nod to start his bike again. You feign a little more fear than necessary during the ride as an excuse to cling to him more. You worry youâre being clingy and annoying but Sweet Pea just smiles and tucks his keys into his pocket. âYour helmet!â you start to tug it off and he waits as you hover it out towards him. âKeep it, iâll give you a lift later.â âWhat about fangs?â you question, confused when he pulls up in a car with Toni and a few other serpents. âOh so thats why you wanted to take your bike, showing off like that is no way to impress a lady, you need to buy her dinner.â Toni laughs and Sweet Pea glares. âShut it.â he smacks fangs on the shoulder and you jump.
âSorry, fuck Iâm sorry.â he speaks before you can react fluttering around you, the rest of the serpents watching curiously. âYou not a fan of violence then?â Fangs asks and you blink out of your momentary stupor to shake your head. âI donât mind just brought back some uncomfortable memories.â they nod leaving you and Sweet Pea alone. âMemories?â âIt happened in the past, that means its a memory.â you counter and he smiles a tiny bit before looking serious as he looks you in the eyes. âIâm really sorry about that babe I didnât even think about it freaking you out, I really am sorry.â Sweet Pea hangs his head. âBabe?â You question. âYes?â âNo I was asking why you called me babe.â âOh. Cause I can; I can stop if you want.â You know youâre probably blushing. âNo you donât have to, its nice.â you smile and nod to him and then towards the school. âWe should get to class.â He nods repeating what you said and following you, staring at the ground.
âYou only like him because he can protect you. You donât know the first thing about himâ Micheal starts the minute he gets home, you know he saw you riding on the back of sweet peas bike. âI bet the first chance he gets, the minute he gets you alone heâll hit you.â âLike you?â you cover your mouth but know its no use; Micheal stalks forward face blank as he curls his fist.
You try your best to cover the black eye with a mixture of your hair and makeup, its still visible, but looks healed by a few days, all you have to do is lie about the pain and no one should bother you. Micheal seems almost proud at the disgust on your motherâs face when she catches sight of you; you hope its disgust at what heâd done, not at you. You shake the thought from your head trying your best to not to let Michealâs verbal attacks wear you down more. âIâm going for a walk.â You say mostly to the carpet as you take your keys and step three doors down.
âHey y/n whats up?â You donât respond stumbling forward trying to avoid touching your hair. âWhat happened y/nâ You know sweet pea knows, you can hear the concern lacing his voice and when he cautiously tugs your arm you fold into him crying off the makeup youâd spent hours on.
Micheal learns from what he calls his mistake, you learn to keep any comments to yourself and he learns its much better to hit you in places you wont show anyone; of course since he thinks youâre sleeping around he concludes at least there will be bad lighting to hide it.
âCome on kid, no one actually wants to look at your face when they fuck you, they wont notice the bruises anyways. Suck it up; if youâre going to end up as the plaything for the serpents like your mother was the least you can do is take a hit without crying about it.â
Your excuse is youâre taking a shower, you shove you school bag full of as many clothes as you can, unsure of when youâll be back. Youâre thankful you donât have to go far, sliding out your window and knocking three doors down. âHey, study session right?â You know other people are here right now with how his hands grip the door. You hate that sweet pea got dragged into this, he canât even spend time with his friends without you interrupting. You offer a slight nod.
âI can come back if youâre busy.â âIs that y/n? Tell her to come in; I need to talk to her.â You cringe at FPâs voice and follow Sweet Pea. âHey Mr. Jones.â âIâve told you its FP; now-â âActually before we talk, I wanted to ask; can I join the serpents?â You blurt out trying your best to avoid looking him in the eye. âWell great minds think alike, Sweet Pea and I were just talking about it. We both think it would be best, just for added security. Well I do anyways.â âYou donât want me join?â you frown at Sweet Pea who shakes his head.
âNo i just, its complicated, we can talk later..â He nods to FP who laughs. âI know when Iâm not wanted, see you two at your trials; Sweet Pea, no cheating to help her okay..â Sweet Pea nods and you turn to him nerves building. âListen I get Iâm a burden and a nuisance right now, but if I join the serpents I donât have to shadow you all the time so you can get your life back. I get I donât offer anything of value to the- Sweet Pea?â You break from your rant to watch him frown.
âYouâre not a burden, or a bother or a nuisance or any other thing like that. Im spending my time helping you because I like you, because I want to protect you, I want to help you. Iâm going out of my way, sure, but its worth it knowing youâre safe.â He sighs. âLet me put it this way, if I have to sleep on the couch every night, just so I know youâre not sleeping in the same place as that asshole, Iâm more than happy to do that.â âwe can just share the bed, or i can take the cou-â You shrug half heartily pausing at his scowl. â-sharing the bed it is then.â You smile at him setting your bag down. âOh here, I cleared out a drawer for you, well its mostly Fangsâ and Toniâs things, they used to stay here a lot.â
It becomes normal, a relief to return to Sweet Peaâs everyday. Youâre an official Serpent; Sweet Pea insisting that youâre the best recruit theyâve ever had. The Serpents themselves seem relieved, and a few of the older ones ask about your mom, you give what updates you can, she seemed to be doing better although Micheal still came around too often for you to want to go home.
âIâm sorry please donât-â You donât finish the sentence ducking down to pull the plate fragments from the carpets, nervous when Sweet Pea stops you. âHey y/n, itâs okay sweetheart, itâs fine.â âYouâre not going to hurt me?â You cringe as you calm down from the panic, heâs staring at you. âNo y/n, Iâm not going to hurt you, Iâd never hurt someone I love.â You nod nervously still holding the plate shards and he pulls the trashcan over. âThere, all clean, hey wait donât step there you could hurt yourself.â Sweet Pea says, lifting you up and swivelling to place you down in a plate free area. He finishes cleaning up returning from dumping the trashcan outside. âWhats wrong Y/N?â
âHm? oh, nothing, I love you too.â You try your best to sound nonchalant but cant help the smile when his face pinks. âYou love me; wait too? Did I- dammit, I was saving that for a more romantic moment.â âPicking up a plate is plenty romantic.â You counter and he smiles nodding to the bed where you curl up next to him. â So Y/N, would you like to be my girlfriend then?â âYes please.â âYou donât need to say please I asked you.â
âItâs polite, you need to learn manners.â You laugh and he shakes his head. âi have manners, itâs just silly of you to ask if you can be my girlfriend when I already asked you to date me.â You blink shaking your head. âThat doesnât make sense, dating doesnât mean weâre boyfriend and girlfriend.â âIt does to meâ Sweet Pea nods to you. âSame goes but-â âThen theres no buts, were dating and boyfriend and girlfriend thatâs how it works.â âNot always.â You counter and he laughs. âOf course, but for us it does.â You fall asleep in Sweet Peaâs arms and when you wake in the middle of the night heâs still next to you, you turn slightly curling into his arms as he half wakes up. âWhatâs wrong?â He mumbles still half asleep. âItâs quiet.â You shrug a little and he presses a kiss against your cheek. âGo back to sleep babe, itâs too early.â You nod settling down but jump bumping into his arms as you hear a sound outside the door. âY/N, itâs okay sweetheart, just the wind.â He nuzzles into your hair pulling the blanket closer.

A FAMILIAR FACE PART 1
CONTINUEING!.
Harumo:Who was that guy?
That was the last question you muttered before falling asleep and dreaming about stuff, however, this time, its different your dreaming about the time where youâve met that stranger when you were with Ryota at the shopping street, there you could see the stranger dressed with a black jacket and blue shorts, you thought you could finally see the strangerâs true face, however the image youâre being shown is only what your mind have captured and the strangerâs face appears black being covered by its hoodie,Â
Harumo:Oh câmon!, even here i couldnât even see it.....Why am i so determined to see this person?
With your curiosity intact while asleep, you struggled to sleep as you move around in your bed making a lot of creaking noises while the night passes by hopefully those noises wonât wake up anybody,Â
{NEXT DAY}
Its another day at Shinjuku Academy, the place where both transients and students of Tokyo are educated and taken care off, The summoners are in Class E chatting like the usual friends they and Kengo being shouted by Shiro for sitting on top of table,Ryota tells the others about what they did back at the shopping street of Shinjuku Park and you happen to have just arrived.
Harumo: Morning Guys!
Shiro: Good Morning Harumo, you look well today.
Kengo: How you doin partner.
Moritaka: Good Morning to you too Harumo,Â
Ryota: Morning Harumo!.
Toji: Good Morning to you too.
Harumo: Looks like i made it in time for the first time guys.
Shiro: Indeed, did you have a good sleep?

Ryota: Oh yeah! When we were running in the shopping street, i accidentaly bump into someone,Â
Moritaka: I see, It appears you are not hurt Ryota.
Ryota: Nah, im fit as a feedle, its a good thing it wasn;t that serious.
Shiro: Im glad to hear that, but next time be careful when go running around in crowded areas.
Kengo: You know, your starting to sound like my mom,Â
Shiro: i think you mean as a responsible adult.Â
Kengo:*mutter* A boring one to be honest.
Shiro: What was that?!
Ryota: Anyway, Guys!, you have got to try Ebisuâs rainbow buns, they are the best buns you could have ever tasted!
Moritaka:Whoâs Ebisu?
Ryota: Oh, Heâs one of the stall vendors at shopping district, Harumo is actually friends with him. Man you guys were missing out on the deliciousness those buns where giving.
Moritaka: For Ryota to praise someoneâs pastry so much, must mean that those Rainbow Buns must be really delicious.. maybe Iâll join you today,is that okay Ryota?Â
Ryota:Yay!, Moritaka is coming! Always, the more the merrier they say, how about that Harumo?
Harumo: With the two of you,its going to get really fun.
Moritaka:Im grateful for you acceptance.Â
Ryota: How about you guys? wanna come along?

Kengo:No can do Ryota, i have an important sparring match today.
Toji: I also canât come as well, because, i was tasked to guard the shrine today. My apologies.
Harumo; AWWW, I really want to spend time with you all.
Shiro; Im terribly sorry, Iâll be sure to come with you next time.
Kengo:Yeah me too.
Toji; Maybe next time then.
Ryota:All right then, its just going to be the three of us.
Harumo and Moritaka:Yeah!
Three of you are going to be hanging today and Mr Jinn has finally arrived and is now about to start his class and the next class and so. Yup a normal school day, You go on with your studies, unknowing about the events that are going to happen.
[After 6 hours}
[SCHOOL BELL RINGS}
Class has finally ended, youâve finally have some room to stretch your arms from the long period of sitting on your chair,Â
Harumo: Ah, my shoulders are starting to get tense,
Ryota:Yay!, im so excited to go the shopping area again, are you excited Moritaka?
Moritaka:Well, off course, nothing is much more excitable than going out with your friends.Â
Shiro: I have to go the economics room for my cooking class, see you later everyone.
Kengo: Man, all that sitting around made my shoulders hurt, gotta get some warm up then, see ya.
Toji: Iâll be leaving now, Good luck!

Ryota:Okay guys lets meet up infront of the school after we put in our bags at the dorms.
Moritaka:All right Ryota, Iâll see you two later then,
Harumo: See you guys later!
{Dorm Room}
Youâve arrived at your dorm room, put down your bag at the side and took a quick lie down on your bed facing the ceiling, you reminence about whether you are going to meet that stranger again. caught up in your thoughts your butler make his entrance.
{Ring flashes}
Lil Salomon: Hello Master!, Oh,you seem to be lost in thought.Â
Harumo: Yeah, i keep on thinking about that that guy we met.
Lil Salomon: You mean the stranger that you and Ryota met at the shopping area?
Harumo: Yes.
Lil Salomon: Hmm, laying down wonât do anything Master, Câmon your friends are probably waiting for you.
Harumo: Oh, yeah thanks for reminding me.Â
Lil Salomon: Thats my job as your butler Master, toodles.
You changed your clothes and wore casual clothes and went towards Shinuku Park where your supposed to be meeting,Â
{BLACK SCREEN}
[DARK ALLEY}
The dark alleyâs of Shinjuku is the favorite meeting spot of several criminals whether its transactions or place to hang out, In one the alleies is one particular transient that is one to feared off, He is a guy of great strength, heartless intent, and a cold one. is seen laying down on a beaten couch snoring loudly,Â
Once a comfy slumber, now turn into a hellish reality to him, as a bunch of strangers not knowing the danger theyâre waiking towards.
Thug: Hey idiot, this is our turf! get lost!
Stranger:*Snoring*Â
Thug 2: Looks like this runt needs a wake up call.
Thug 3: Heh, How about we bash his head on then.
The trio of idiots did not know who they were messing with as they laugh at the sleeping stranger with the intent to put him in slumber forever....
However....
Stranger: Hey,...... Thanks for the suggestion.
 Thug 1: What the......
The thug quickly had his head smacked on the stone floor, with the sudden emergence of the stranger now with a malicious grin, the other thugs could only watched in surprise as they could not register what just transpired infront of them. With a blink of an eye the other thug who was beside had his entire body thrown in the garbage pile,
Thug 3: H-hey..wHAT the hell is happening!? ,who are you?..
Panicked and fearing for what the stranger is going to do to him,a cold voice whispered to his ear and soon after, the unlucky guy ,was flung towards at a wall knocked out.
Stranger: Psst, Pathethic, man they really ruined my sleep,*yawn* it was getting good.Â
Not soon after his stomach released a rumbling sound.
Stranger: I havenât eaten in a while, maybe i should go get something from the shopping area at the Park.Â
{END OF SCENE}
{Outside area of Shinjuku Park}Â
You have arrived at a traffic stop and across it is your destination, Shinjuku Park, hom your friends are currently waiting for you at the food area, you are waiting for the traffic light to turn green as you wait the timer on it decreases over time,Â
Harumo: What the...
You see an orange cat infront of you, when suddenly..
Harumo: Im not gonna make it...
You hurried towards the cat, that is about to be run over by a truck, everything turned slow as you see the truck getting closer and you arenât even close to saving the poor creature from its painful death,
A shadow appeared fast infront of you and saved the cat infront of you, however as soon as you get your bearings back, you only saw a cat running towards you, even though you didnât save it in time, but the worked of a mysterious stranger whoâs movements are so fast they appear to be inhuman.
Harumo: What...just happened?Â
You realized, that was the same stranger from before and just disappeared infront of you. went on to search for him and looking left and right for him but you only see passerbies.
Harumo: What the....Where did he go?Â
To no signs of him everywhere, you went on with your day and made it towards your destination.
{Shinjuku Park}
Ryota and Moritaka are sitting a bench constantly waiting for their friend to arrived and Ryotaâs stomach is starting to rumble fom all the waiting and constant seeing the food placed on the passerbyâs hands with its smell wafting through the air.
Harumo: Sorry guys! im late.
Ryota: Youâve made it!
Moritaka: There you are.
Ryota: Im so hungry, and seeing everyone with delicious food in their hands makes me drool.
Moritaka: Holy cow! Ryota i didnât even notice the drool on the bench!
Ryota: That just means im very hungry, Câmon lets go.
Harumo: Right with you.
Ryota quickly dashes towards the shopping area and starts looking at the delicious food they have in stock, one by one,Ryota dashes from one store to another with inhuman speed like he isnât affected by his hunger a moment ago.Â
Moritaka: Ryota, would you please slow down?, youâre dashing everywhere.
Ryota: Heheh, sorry,...Oh,how about we go to Ebisuâs shop, i think they should be open right about now. Lets go.
Harumo: Woah! slow down, you donât want to bump into someone again donât you?.
Ryota: Oh yeah, sorry, Lets waik then.
Moritaka: I could never figure out,how much energy Ryota has.

Ryota: Thats still a big deal.
Ebisu: It really isnât. ....Anyway what are you buying?
Ryota: 10 rainbow buns please!.
Moritaka: My word Ryota!, are you really eating that much?
Ryota: Donât worry Iâll share with you guys.
Ebisu: Comin right up. Please wait a moment a please.
As you wait patiently for Ebisuâs rainbow buns, you look around the area and see a lot of people comin in and out of the area and buying delicious food, everyone in the vicinity is either seen eating takoyaki, holding a lot of bags full of food,Ryotaâs nose is moving like a hound on a hunt for prey as he faces a stall with delicious fried chicken and another stall with squid on a stick. All of this different kinds of cuisine is seen one place as the smells of different foods mixed together wafting the air you currently breath and could not help but tingle your taste buds even you arenât tasting anything, the smell alone is enough to make Ryota drool.
Moritaka: So..Many different smells coming into my nose, ,,Ahh im practicly drooling over the scents.
Ryota: I know right, weâre going to try every last one of them.
Harumo: Lets hope we brought enough money for it.Â
Ebisu: All right 10 rainbow buns, order up!Â
Ryota: OOOHHH! It smells so delicous Ebisu,Â
Ebisu: Hehehe, Thanks for coming by, hope you come back again.

Moritaka: I hope we could meet again someday Ebisu, bye bye.
Ebisu: See you later Ryota! i also hope to see you again Moritaka, bye bye
Waving at Ebisu and waiking around while eating the delicous rainbow buns Ryota bought, Moritaka could not help but be in aww about how delicious it was.Â
Moritaka: This rainbow buns are really delicious especially the green one. It taste like tea.
Ryota: Yeah, here, try this orange one, i bet it taste just like oranges or peaches.

Ryota: Its White chocolate, and its so creamy!
Harumo: Really?!, Can i try it?Â
Ryota: Sure, here you go.Â
Harumo: All right down the hatch you g-
{SCREAM]
As you are about to enter a world of flavor, you were interrupted by a sudden scream from a woman, and quickly hurried over to check it out.Â
Moritaka: There!Â
Harumo: Hey stop!
You discovered a blue bearlike transient with a knife on its hands and threatening someone, and when they saw you and Moritaka with a sword on his back, the robber immediately turns to take the poor lady hostage.Â
Robber: Now you stay back!, Or else iâll cut her throat out!.
Ryota: *gasping for air* hey guys i made it and Whoah!Â
Harumo: You better stop this right now!Â
Robber: Oh, how about make me then punk!Â
Moritaka who was about to draw out his blade, noticed by the robber he immediately step back with the hostage using her as a human shield, The people behind him are steping back as they fear it could only worsen the situation. confident in his ploy, the robber tries to demand money from eveyone,  Â
Unfortunately with his head turned around and not noticing the chubby guy infront of him,Â
Harumo: Take this!Â
With no hesitation, you runned towards the robber and did a powerful punch to his face, all the barehand training you recieved from Kengo seems to be quite useful in this types of situations, the robber startled and confused from the blow lost grip from his prey.
Robber: Tha,,,,darn kid!Â
He angrily tries to flee as you chase him, seemingly unable to grab him,one person appeared out of nowhere and suddenly knee kick the robber to the stomach and with the sheer force from his attack, the robber could not be atleast 10 meters away.Â
Harumo: What the.. this speed...iâve seen it before.
Youâve met face to face with the stranger from before and it appears his also the one whom you have met the other the day, Yes, the mysterious stranger whom you have met with Ryota the other day. has now appeared infront of you again and this time,Ryota didnât bump him.Â
Stranger: Really doesnât know what the consequences are.Â

Worthwhile
Summery: After math of battle between Steve, Bucky and Tony. Before arriving in Wakanda. Steve x Bucky x Y/n. Some angsty moments
Word Count: 2307
Done for a challenge by bigbandbombshell. Song BTSK by ms mr and picture the bottom northern lights landscape.Â
I found you in pieces you'd been torn apart A million one reasons to end before you start But deep down I knew No matter what in the end, it'd be me and you
Big teeth small kiss I turn to wax and melt like this Melt like this
~ BTSK Lyrics
Zemo had done it
Dismantled the team.Â
You had been there when Tony saw the video, Buckys pain crossing over his face when Tony realized it was because of the Winter Solider his parents were murdered. It was cold hearted assassination, as The Winter Solider was known for. No survivors. A stain on Buckys soul you doubted he would ever come to terms with, Steves breath was baited waiting for the drop.
âTony Tonyâ
âDid you knowâ
âI didn't know it was himâÂ
âDONT BULLSHIT ME ROGERS, DID YOU KNOW?â
Steve paused, then with a single answer he admitted the truth. âYesâ
And thats what resulted to where you were now. Steve had gotten you two out, with damages. Both men were brutally beat all over from Tonys grief, yourself sporting your own scrapes. But he dismantled you early, a hit to your head threatening your senses for now. Holing up in some no name motel in a nearby Siberian town, you woke to find yourself in a dimly lit room, two double beds, shitty wood panneling, dusty curtains blocking out the glare of light, Steve and Bucky looming over you to get you to awaken.
âUgh, what happened?â Your hand braced against your forehead as you moved to a sit, dropping your face into your hands, as your elbows braced on your knees. A wave of nausea washed over you, threatening to over take you but then it dulled to a numb sensation. Steve squatted in front of you, looking you over momentarily with a grasp of his hands on your face making you focus on his searching eyes.
âYou look like your going to be okay.â You snorted in thanks to his assessment, your fingers now tenderly probing to find where you were hit, wincing at the thump. Leave it to Tony to leave a bump on your head. Not your finest moment. Bucky lowered next to you on the edge of the bed, you leaned a bit against his right arm and looked at the two men. âWe took out the Ironman suit, Tony wasn't going to stop. Zemo was taken into custody, TâChalla must have followed us when we left Germany.âÂ
Your eyes turn to Bucky, and you donât remark on his arm, the man looked defeated and exhausted. Dark marks under his eyes and blossoming bruises starting to form over whatever bare skin showed. You could only imagine the condition of his chest and back. Tonys suit was top of the line defense and weaponry, even against an enhanced. You move to a stand, going into the bathroom, running some hot water in the sink and splash it against your face, cleaning off any of the dried blood. You can hear Steve remark to Bucky that he would be back. Where he was going off to, you didn't know, but trusted whatever he had in mind. Grabbing a towel. You notice that much of Buckys marks are from where he hadn't cleaned up, so you grab some stuff from the limited bathroom and approach him.Â
âLet me help you? Should probably see what else needs to be patched up.â
You offer as you approach him, his eyes are shadowed as he looked up âNo iâm alright. Donât worry about meâ
You werent gonna give him a choice though, cupping his face and tilting it up so you can get a better look, shaking head. âSorry, I really wasn't gonna give to much of a choice Buck.â
He didn't argue, remained still as you cleaned up the cuts, but he remarked. âYou know that bump to the head didn't change your demeanor much.â You dabbed at his eyebrow carefully.Â
âI got a hard head. Its going to take more then a smack to the temple to change who I am. You on the other hand Barnes are in need of stitches.âÂ
Pushing you back lightly, he got up to go to the bathroom mirror, tilting his face this way and that, shrugging âEh, I've dealt with worst. I will be fine.â Sure enough that made you sigh. You haven't known Bucky Barnes for long, but he never seemed to think he was worth the effort.Â
Steve is guiding the quinjet with the coordinates programmed into the dash, Bucky is sitting across from you âWhats going to happen to your friends?â Bucky asked after being silent for so long. You lift your head to look at him, knowing the sacrifice they all made to get here. âWhatever it is, I will deal with itâ Steve says heavily, knowing that the team were now considered enemies and in a maximum gaurded facility. But when Captain says he will deal with it, you know the matter is closed. Bucky flexes his metal arm, its a part of him, but foreign, you see in his face he is regarding it as something that makes him less worthwhile, less of a good man. A perfect solider. âI donât know if Im worth all this Steve.â Your jaw clenches, you had spent months studying Sgt James Buchanan âBuckyâ Barnes. His time during the Howling Commandos, the entire time he was in service. Many a night Steve told you stories that could never be found in any paperwork. To see this man think of himself as anything less then worthwhile, bullshit. Steve whipped his head around at this. âWhat you did all those years, That wasnât you. You didnât have a choiceâ Buckys jaw is set now, completely unforgiving of what was done to him, the testing, brainwashing, torture and whom it made him become. âI know.... But I did itâÂ
His gaze went to his missing arm, and he cussed under his breath. âThis on the other hand is gonna be far more difficult to deal with.â You leaned in against the bathrooms door frame, Your gaze caught his in the mirror, and you smiled at him. âWe will figure it out Bucky, this cant be the first time youâve lost your arm?â He rubbed at the shoulder where the metal and body connected.Â
âActually, it is. Titanium doesn't necessarily wear out. I've never had cause to have it changed out, even after all the experiments.â He sighed as he pushed away from the sink and you stepped back into the hotel room. It was then Steve came back to the room âAlright, this is the plan. TâChalla is going to help us. Being war criminals now, we need to go into hiding, and Wakanda is in his control, borders are up against the rest of the world. You and Bucky are going there. And with the Vibranium.... your arm can be replaced.â Although minutes ago Bucky had seemed upset about the loss of his limb, he showed no emotion to this. Again reverting back to the not worth the effort vibe. âThe King isnt out to kill me any longer?â Bucky sounded a bit doubtful, but Steve gave a shake of his head.
âNo, he knows the truth now, that you had nothing to do with the bombing.â Steve continued with the plan. âThereâs an SUV outside for you two, and heres where you need to rendezvous with TâChallas jet.â handing you a piece of paper, this is the moment you held up a hand as if asking a question, and his brow cocked at you. âIs that necessary Y/n?âÂ
âUh yea, since when did CAPTAIN AMERICA STEAL CARS?âÂ
âNazi Germany, okay. Its a necessary skill back then, and no Iâm not teaching you.â
Bucky grinned, finally, hearing the two of you and whispered loudly to you. âDon;t worry, I will teach you later.â You made a fist pump in victory, smirking at the Captain. Just as quickly as Bucky lightened up, he got serious. âYour going after them Steve.â Steve glanced over the room, but they hadn't had any supplies with them, just Steves captain suit and shield. Underneath it he had on civilian clothes. Hell you were still in the stealth suit you typically dressed in on missions. Steve just looked at Bucky with a set resolve..Â
âI have to. They were only there cause I asked them to be. And we are now considered war criminals, the quicker we can go into hiding the better. I can get in that facility with Natashas help, shes already getting the location.â Honestly you couldn't disagree with his plan. As much as you wanted to be there to get Sam and the rest of them out, you knew the more he had to keep accounted for, the harder it would be for Steve. And Natasha, well this is what she did. She was all about stealth and secrets. Often when the Black Widow was noticed, it was to late. âOkay were all clear on whats happening Y/n and Buck?â
It was hours later, You and Bucky had been driving since leaving the hotel, leaving behind the small village areas and going back out onto the tundra. It would be inconspicuous area for a Wakanda Jet to land, unseen by eyes that could get that info to authorities. You had made yourself comfortable in the passenger seat, watching the passing landscape. It was already starting to get dark, leaving the inner cab in the shadows at this point. You really should say something, Bucky had been so quiet the entire ride, jaw set as if he had been clenching his teeth.
âWhat are you thinking Buck?âÂ
His eyes never left the road. His hand clenched tightly around the wheel. âthinking about what a shit show this has turned into. All of this because of me. Steve shouldn't have ever come for me.âÂ
âWhat? Bucky Iâm calling that bullshitâ your arms folding over your chest. You had to, hearing him was making you anger now, wanting just reach right over and throttle that man. If the roles were reversed, you know he would have gone head first with disregard for his safety for Steve. You hated all of them, all the organizations who changed Bucky into this man who couldn't see anything worthwhile about himself.Â
He rolled his shoulder. âYou asked Y/n, You know for damn sure Steve wouldn't be known as a war criminal right now if he just stayed out of it. Or any of you either. Not signing those accords, fine. Thats standing behind your convictions, and understandable. But coming to save me. No, it wasn't worth that.âÂ
At this point, you donât even have the words to explain to him how wrong he was. In between a point in crying since you were tired from the days past events and now this. More then you were willing to just let slide. You sputter out âJames Barnes, pull this fucken car over. RIGHT. NOWâ Buckys eyes widen in shock at this outburst, he hit the brake, bringing the SUV to a stand still in the middle of the road. Your heart rate is thumping heavily in your chest at the rolling tension between you, and you turn in the seat to face him.Â
âY/n jesus christ, whats wrong?â He looked over his shoulder at the backseat, see if anything was wrong, out the windows and back at you. He noticed the color in your face was heightened and your eyes flashed at him in anger.Â
âWords will never get through your thick skull will they Barnes. No matter what any of us say. I mean...â Your hands go up in the air, exasperated. Yes, Bucky had been traumatized over the years, and you should be more understanding. But today, your nerves were frayed, going into the unknown, you felt just at a loss in what to do. âYou know what, forget trying to tell you, how about I just show you!âÂ
Catching him completely by surprise, your hands grasp the side of his face and you arch across the cars counsel. Your lips crush against his own, and in his surprise he doesn't move, doesn't respond for a few seconds. But then his arm snakes around your hip, dragging you over to settle in his lap, lips parting to dart tongues around each other. Each trying to take control of it. A hand braces against the back of your head, your hair tangling into his fingers grasping you, tilting it to clash teeth, bruise lips, inhale moans. Fuck James Buchanan Barnes could kiss.Â
Separating, a flush of color rise in Buckys cheeks as he looked away at getting caught in the rush, your hands dropping from his face to his shoulders, sighing and looking down yourself. Your own face hot, unsure of what to say now. He softly broke the silence, when his hand moved off the back of your head and dropped to your thigh folded along his sides. âYou know the last time I saw the northern lights like this was when I was with the Howling Commandos. I was getting in place to cover Steves back when he was about to bust into a bunker. It was just as green.â The warmth of his hand seeped into your thigh, you would not be able to forget the weight, the heat of him. âThis though, might be a better way to remember them now.âÂ
A smile crosses your face as you lean back, the cars wheel pressing into your back as you glance out the window to see what he was talking about. The swirl of the green lights painted the sky into one of the most beautiful moments of your life. âYou see, thatâs all Bucky speaking. The Winter Solider, he wouldn't have found that in the midst of all this.â With a shift after a few moments, sliding back into your seat just as a jet sliced through the green waves covering the sky. âPut it back in drive Barnes, our rides here.âÂ

My name is Chelsea and Iâm a ITU Nurse.
Iâm also a newly qualified nurse - I literally left Uni last year and began my job in the September.
My background - I didnât always want to be a nurse. I wasnât cut out for that sort of compassion or care. I dreamt of being a PT, an athlete, anything that was sports driven.
Until my boyfriend had a bike accident, that then left him in ITU. He later succumb to his injuries and passed away. The nurses looking after him, changed my life. Shining light kind of moment - I want to be just like them kind of thing.
Granted it took me 4 years to build up the courage, battling my PTSD, severe depression and anxiety to even apply to uni. But I did it - and Sept 2019 I got my Pin as a registered nurse.
Now, if you 1) think covid19 was made up, a conspiracy or the numbers have been made up as a scare tactic or 2) you actually believe wearing a face covering will cause ârespiratory arrestsâ âacidosisâ blah... stop reading. Because this isnât for you. Or even 3) you have the view of âits their jobâ - back away from your screen.
Youâve seen in the news about the public sector pay rise? That nurses arenât included, nor the junior doctors, physioâs etc (I use etc as there are so many people being forgotten in all this and it is used lovingly and not to cause offence)? Honestly, Im so glad that others are being recognised for their input and help during this - the teachers who put in extra work for children of key workers, who sacrificed their home life to entertain little ones every day and try give them the education they need and deserve, to the police, military - anyone receiving this recognition. Honestly you deserve it. And the NHS will not shadow that or take it away from you.
We agreeâd to a 3 year pay deal, that had the options of being reconsidered earlier than the final date if there was a change in circumstances. Covid19 should really be considered as a change in circumstances. I mean being told that youâre already âunskilledâ and watching people clap to STOP pay rises... was hard enough. But to have everyone else recognised for their vital contributions and lay something that was agreed in 2018 - is inexcusable.
You realise that most nurses didnât get to see your claps on a Thursday? Thatâs handover time. And due to covid19 if their handover time was earlier - they were usually late because of how busy it was and still missed it.
I saw one. Because it so happened I had come off of nights the night prior.
So! My life during covid19 starts off with the busiest winter that my hospital has seen in ITU. We have 10 beds. We are funded for 7/8? We had to open an escalation centre that we stole from our day surgery unit to give us a further 3 beds.
Which in itself is hard - looking after seriously sick patients away from your actual designated and designed ward and without the continuous presence of doctors.
That wasnât enough.
We had to then stole half of the recovery room, which usually houses patients post surgery whilst they wake up.
Going up to 16 patients. Remember - at this point. Iâm THREE MONTHS qualified.
Learning is hard, steep, and in-depth. Youâre suppose to be trained over the course of a year as a newly qualified, with study days and help from mentors etc. I couldnât attend some of those days because we didnât have the staff to look after the most patients our ITU had ever seen.
Now I know ITU is hard. I picked it.
I knew what it entailed, well partly.
I have to maintain my patients artificial airway. They either have a tube in their mouth or in their throat.
Theyâre then connected to a ventilator.
Every single setting on that machine, every button - changes something drastically.
From the fio2, PEEP, PS, PC, TV, MVE, PEAK, RR, PF ratio, ... one button, one alteration or mistake... literally can stop this person breathing. Cause respiratory distress, arrest.. trauma? anything.
Did you know I have to move that tube in their mouth every hour to stop pressure sores developing in their mouth? And I still have to brush their teeth and give oral care?
I have to suction down their throat and clear their lungs? Or suction their actual mouth for extra secretions?
And record all this data hourly.
To ensure that this patient is comfortable with this tube... I have to medicate this patient.
I have to keep them in an artificial coma.
Titrating the drugs to their optimum levels.
Some are measured mg/hr, mcg/hr, mcg/kg/min..
some have limits on maximum dose per hour you can use.
Some have really severe side effects.
Such as noradrenaline. Which can literally cause your fingers and toes to become necrotic.
I have to monitor someoneâs glucose - whether youâre diabetic or not, and correct it if needed with insulin or dextrose.
I have to give diuretics but not allow your body to become too negative, I have to give fluid challenges to ensure youâre not vascular depleted.
I can help your kidneys with the use of a dialysis machine. Literally filter your blood of toxins your body can no longer remove without help of a machine. This requires constant blood tests to ensure that you arenât collecting dangerous toxins or you need additional support from the machine.
I can use a machine to check your cardiac output and interpret it to make sure that you have enough fluid vs a drug thatâll help squeeze your heart instead.
I can read an ECG and tell if you need additional supplements such as potassium. Do further tests for magnesium, phosphates etc. And deliver those.
I can feed you through a tube down your nose, and ensure you absorb it. But itâs okay I can give you medication to also help that - these require me to do daily ECGs though, and interpret the data of your QTC to make sure itâs not affecting your heart.
Now. If thatâs not enough. Covid happens.
Now remember our record was 16 patients?
Try doubling that.
We worked in our ITU,
Escalation centre
Recovery - we took the whole thing.
Next - we took over operating theatres.
3 patients in theatre 6
3 in 5
3 in 4
2 in 3
We stole theatre staff, recovery nurses, ODPS, ward nurses, retired nurses, health visitor nurses, anyone we could relocate to help us.
March - Iâm 6 months qualified.
Iâm now the most qualified ITU nurse in my theatre.
I have people who have never looked after a ventilated patients before asking me for help. Please donât silence my alarm if you donât know why itâs alarming. I know itâs loud and annoying but itâs telling me everything I need to know with enough time before I need to panic.
Now - covid patients werenât just sick. Werenât just needing help to breathe. These patients were all sorts of ânewâ. Nothing made sense!
These patients COULDNT be ventilated. We needed to paralyse them to literally be able to take over their breathing properly! No amount of sedation worked! Their lungs were fibrous and acting like elastic under tension.
Side note - if your patient wasnât sedated enough compared to paralysis - they could be silently awake, but completely paralysed. Knowing everything happening to them. But unable to do anything - not even breathe. Every time you start rocuronium you need to remember that. If youâre withdrawing treatment - TURN THE ROC OFF FIRST. And wait before you do anything else.
Back to it. They were so unstable that you try roll them, which we usually do 4 hourly to prevent pressure sores - they desaturated to numbers so low that you would usually see some hypoxia brain injury after.
We couldnât roll these patients without risking that. So you know what. You donât roll.
So we couldnât protect their skin integrity. You just watch them, and feel guilty.
Nursing school 101 - pressure sores are PREVENTABLE. Roll your patient. Skin care and hygiene is your best friend.
Now covid went against everything a nurse knows and holds dear.
Our ITU never had pressure sores. Until covid. Some had grade 4âs.
Maggot therapy.
Vacuum dressings.
These patients were also clotting, and sending off clots to their kidneys, liver, heart, brain. Covid made your blood super sticky!!!!
People were having strokes whilst being sedated, going from fit to multi organ failure in days. Iâm trying to save these people, knowing they could possibly wake up with complete left side paralysis? Never talk again? Never be them again?
Now you know about these past medical histories etc?
You realise what that is?
that it could be Type 2 diabetes?
Hypertension?
That was it for some.
None of this thinking they were super sick, with lists longer than my arm, and thatâs why they didnât make it. No.
Literally things that happen with age. Poor diet? That 120/80 youâre happy you got - THATS PREHYPERTENSION.
I was probably hypertensive the entire time with anxiety.
Did you know We had to use the old anaesthetic ventilators. None of us had used those before. Those big bellows you see in films going up and down rhythmically. Those.
That was scary.
Iâm use to a single touch screen button (hello modern technology) to deliver 100% o2 if my patient needs it. This has a switch to a bag, a button, dials to titrate o2 with normal air. And if I didnât monitor the crystals in the bottom my patient would retain their own co2 and I wouldnât know why.
New found love for anaesthetists and ODPS - these machines are NOT designed for prolonged use. But they helped us keep our patients alive. By literally guiding us and helping us look after the machines so we could do our job.
Now. All of this is made worse by PPE.
Iâm hot.
Itâs hot.
And intense and Iâm working hard because tonight, I have 3 ventilated patients. By myself.
I have a gown on.
2 sets of gloves
An apron
An FFP3 mask
A hat
A visor
And no air con.
But Iâve got this. I canât do my hourly checks because I am one person.
My super sick patients now have 2 hourly because it is physically impossible.
Where are the other staff?
Sick.
Youâre watching these people struggle to breathe on machines and then being told your close friends at work, your mentors, your seniors are spiking temperatures. Some being admitted to hospital. Some not being able to come back to work for weeks.
Some ending up on your ventilators. Itâs okay. Iâve got this.
Iâm an ITU nurse right?
CPR wearing that get up. Is TOUGH. 27mins. I cried that day.
We lost 3 patients in 12 hours.
I held the hand of so many people as I turned off their ventilators because their families couldnât be with them and no one should die alone. No one. I tried my best.. and then once my day had finished, I had to come home to my dad who is immunosuppressed. Who doesnât understand boundaries. âKevin stay in the other part of the house!â
*knocks on bedroom door with dinner*.
Proning. What an experience that is. And doing it Daily. The complications of that were scary before you even approach the patient.
So Iâm going to flip my patient - who has a tube down their mouth to help breath, who is on medication for sedation, paralysis, to keep their blood pressure up.. from laying on their back - to laying on their front.
Seems easy?
Well itâs not. And requires like 8 people.
8 people.
We donât have enough people as it is. So we now develop a proning team made up of everyone.
There are consultants, there are experts in their fields, there are physios and then I donât know who else.
Honestly I couldnât thank these people enough. More people would have died if we didnât have a proning team. But now, people spent 23 hours laying on their front. Pressure sores on their faces. Potential of going blind? New complications of not being able to breathe we never expected.
We are finally back into one unit now. Iâm still less than a year qualified. And Iâm still running on adrenaline expecting this second wave. Those still reading, I know youâre thinking that she picked this job.
She knew what it meant.
And youâre right! Give me those complex drug calculations and ventilators. Oh and the scrubs!
But a pandemic? I didnât pick that. The world didnât pick that.
Honestly thank you, to the ward nurses - your lives got flipped upside down.
The physios who became best friends.
Consultants who literally got down and dirty with us.
To the domestics who cleaned furiously for us.
OTâs To literally orientate our patients when theyâre waking up like 70 days later.
Every
Single
Person
Who
Helped.
Oh communication team made up of medical students, who updated the families because... I couldnât. I couldnât leave my patient. Not like this!
Matron who literally had to facilitate all this, with people who knew nothing about ITU. Being in ITU. Looking after ITU patients. Whilst her own ITU staff were sick, in hospital, or newly qualified, or working to the point they broke.
To the countless companies sending food, goodies, moral support !! Oh my god that was incredible to come to after not having a break for 6+ hours ... mmm... food!!
Did you know theyâre offering support for the nurses to stop PTSD, or anxiety or just to help up digest what we saw? Psychological support for just doing your job?
But itâs okay.
We got a deal in 2018 for the pay.
We got clapped thursdays.
We all know thatâs not enough, but we will still turn up for work.
We canât leave our patients.
We canât strike.
Theyâll always mean more to us than pay. And the government knows that. Abuses that.
540 NHS staff lost their life doing âjust their jobâ - today the NHS staff walked through London protesting, to be heard. To be listened to. To be acknowledged. To be paid fair.
Sign the petition for us. Because we arenât just here for covid. Weâre here for life.
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/316307
And just put your mask on - please - for that hour you go shopping.
Iâve been wearing mine since March 6th. 13+ hour days. Developed a nice grade one on my nose, my friends faces bleeding from using a rubber respirator....
And Weâll be like this for the foreseeable future.
Now that we have the stocks to do so anyways.
Oh and Iâm pissed my graduation was cancelled! All that and I donât get to wear the hat and gown. Bastard virus. (I understand there was more lost but humour me).
Signed, your registered ITU nurse. We will always continue to monitor.

i keep reading 'orion' as 'onion' so thats. who they are to me now
ONIONâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ.. now im picturing orion as onion from steven universe and i am very stressed out by the thought
MORE ASKS UNDER THE CUT!!! (a lot of asks im sorry)
1) D..DONT DIE YET ANONâŚâŚâŚ.. SOON!!! I have a break coming up and i wanna do more comics stuff đ
2) LOL omg IM SORRY !!!! I Messed up the layout a couple of times while editing it so it must have been weird đ¨
1) Hiya! Honestly I think it would be best to get comfortable with more realistic proportions before you branch out into cartoon/anime style! I did it the other way round and I regret it a lot, bc I think it made my foundations really shaky and inconsistent. THATâS NOT TO SAY u have to master the traditional art style before u start drawing any cartoons though!! I think itâs fine to do them together, just donât neglect traditional anatomy and all that, bc it will help you a lot in the future regardless of the style you eventually choose to stick to!
2) LKMKLDS ANON STOP NOW IM GOING TO THINK OF THE STORE WHENEVER I THINK OF JC âŚâŚâŚâŚ he would be Mr penney???? MR..PENNEY..
thank YOU for enjoying my drawings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahhhh thank you so much for such a sweet message oh gosh ANON YOUâRE MAKING MY HEART GROW 3 SIZES!!! Messages like this make me want to share everything with everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IâM HONESTLY SO HAPPY that my silly little tips and stuff can make drawing fun for you BC THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN HAVING FUN WHILE DRAWING!!! MAY YOU INSPIRE LOTS AND LOTS OF PEOPLE and most importantly I hope you always find joy in your own art!!!! THIS MESSAGE MEANS THE WORLD TO ME AND YOU DO TOO ILU ANON!!! IM GONNA KEEP THIS FOREVER
1) A NERD AND A PUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) omg I have thought about basically every combination o f my ocs at least once anon lKMDLskdlj they would be cute!!!!!!! and a very calm couple⌠I feel like emmett would be patient enough to handle fay though it would take a lot to get there bc rn emmett is low key terrified of fay LOLÂ
1) IM NOT SURE U WOULD WANT TO MARRY THEM ž OF THEM ARE A MESS!!!!!!!
2) OH I googled around a bit bc tbh I have no idea what they are called too, and I think itâs called the terminator/ half tone?? itâs basically the bit of colour between the light and the core shadow (the darkest part of where the shadow starts)Â
THe coloured outline of shadows that alot of artists do is an exaggeration of how it looks in rl but it is pretty neat bc it makes the object look like itâs glowing hahaÂ
1) AW THANK YOU ANON!!!!!!!!! itâs so sweet that youâve stuck around for so long and that you take the time to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE IâLL KEEP DRAWING AND MAKING ART THAT YOU ENJOY FOR YEARS TO COME!!!!Â
2) OH no that plant is a random plant that I made up hahhaaaÂ
1) HELLO AGAIN AND thank you ahhh it means a lot to me that you take the time to interpret and think about my art in such a thoughtful mannerđđđ Itâs really sweet and it makes me look at my art in a different way? I was thinking that the redrawn version seems more stiff and I wasnât sure if I liked them more than the old ones, but after seeing this message I was like ohhh that is true I did try different things with the new versions and that is something I should appreciate and be proud of !! so thank YOU for the lovely words, it is my absolute pleasure to share my art with u!!Â
2) HE IS YOURS PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS WHIRLWIND
1) I like using poses from magazines to study anatomy!! I either follow blogs that post magazine scans or I buy them myself when i can! Another thing Iâve found rly helpful was using fitness books/ videos as references⌠like those for muscle-building/ weight lifters, where there are diagrams of which muscles are working for a specific exercise. YOUTUBE has a lot of fitness videos, just type xxx workout, pause the video at any random frame, and u should be able to get a nice reference to study muscles with!! If u want references for the muscles themselves, some good books Iâve found helpful are: Strength training Anatomy and Anatomy for sculptors (I can give them to you off anon if youâd like)!
2) I HOPE YOU ARE enjoying the brushes !!! NO WORRIES AT ALL Iâm happy to share my brushes with anyone who might want to try using htem!! SENDS YOU ALL OF MY LOVE BACK I HOPE YOU ARE ALWAYS HAPPY AND INSPIRED â¤â¤
1) omg this is so hard bc there are 213213 options and I could picture them as more than 1 type of fantasy creature tbh âŚâŚâŚ BUT FIRST ONES THAT COME TO MIND WOULD BE : some kind faerie for fay haha, werewolf for tyler, centaur for emmett, vampire for jc, some kinda elemental spirit for cyrus, an orc for wade, and UHH some kind of wise gate guarding creature for parisi LOLÂ
ILY TOO AND thank YOU for loving my silly boys!!!!!!!!!Â
2) AHHHH thank u anon I WISH YOU ALL tHE BEST AND I HOPE YOU KEEP DRAWING AS WELL ALWAYS đđđđ
1) OR PERHAPS PARISI IS JUST ENORMOUS but also yes itâs true baby tyler is a tiny baby bean
2) LSKMDLKSM HOW CAN I NOT SAY I LOVE YOU BACK TO YOU THE SWEETEST ANON OF ALL TIME đđđđđ
1) omg anon this is a lie I am terrible at drawing anything symmetrically and if I somehow produced anything to make u think so, itâs probably because I spent 10 hours on getting it to look ok LOL I.. TRY TO USE GUIDELINES and flip my canvas to check that things are balanced⌠that helps me out a lot :âDÂ
2) thank u anon for this ask it is beautiful and I will frame it and keep it in my room to encourage myself to start drawing batfam art againÂ
1) HEY ANON and thank u! I have a list of resources that Iâve found helpful here (at the bottom of the page) !! I hope some of that might be useful for you and feel free to drop me another msg if u need more/ want something more specific!!!!!!! ALL THE BEST
2) omg I havent replied to asks in so long that I didnt even rmb what picture this was referring to and I had to go back and look LOL HEâS TRYING HIS BEST ANON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE CANT HELP BEING AN AVERAGE MAN SURROUNDED BY MODELS HOW RIDICULOUS OF THEM !!!!Â
#thank u for ur patience i will try to be better with replying ..#ILU ALL#sometimes i wish i knew who theese anons are so that i can befriend them#kelno#Anonymous

OFFAL HUNT REMASTERED LIVEBLOG // CHAPTER 16
in which murphy nearly cries AGAIN over this fic AGAIN
Cinder didn't say anything. She returned that searching look, like she was wanting something too, like she believed Glynda held some key for her own soul.
HELP ME PLEASE GOD HELP
STOP!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE I BEG OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i GUESS WE HAVE THIS CHAPTER TOO. I GUESS. OH MY GOD. IM GONNA SCREAM.
weâre opening with florence + the machine lyrics and i LOVE me some florence which is the only thing helping me cope rn but HERE WE GO. WE JUST HAD PAIN. NOW ITâS TIME FOR. MORE, PROBABLY.
The room was cast in filtered blues that seemed to drown all other color, an abyss of night that stole the reds of Cinderâs dress, smothering her in wine-violet.
i once made an offal hunt bingo card that i should have been using the entire time (whoops) but add âcolour theoryâ to it somewhere. and also because i see violet i see glyndas colour am i onto smthng here,
ALSO:
She hadn't said a word beyond what was strictly necessary through the entire ride up to her little apartment.
glynda... have u been invited into a ladyâs apartment,,,,,,,,, GLYN,,,,,,,,,, HAVE U PULLED,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, G L Y N D
The lights reflected in her eyes in discs, like screens, like catâs eyesâshockingly yellow in all the somber blue.
OH
FUCK YEAH
FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ITâS GLOWY EYES HOURS FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEAH
i have been WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT for like FOREVER oooooooh my god yes. YES. cinder yr PRETTY EYES. i love her. did i mention that. because i do,
Glynda had heard of Faunus taking blades to themselves, to try and hide their features and escape the ever-present eye of human oppression. To cut away ears and horns and tails, shearing parts of their own bodies in a desperate break for freedom.
i want to say something thats VERY đđ˘đ because i. hrm. dont worry abt it. im filing it away. like glynda is. but in a sadder context.
âwhats sadder than this?â
dont ask,
That couldnât happen. Glynda didnât want that to happen. No matter the risk. No matter how Cinder would lash out.
OUGH,,, glynda if u start 2 care then cinder will start 2 care and thats a one way ticket on the pain train to gaytown. i, for one, am thrilled,
The response on Glyndaâs tongue withered as Cinder, with little fanfare, lifted her dress over her head and laid it haphazardly across the dresser. When Cinder turned back around, the faint sliver of light found purchase in the thin chain around her neck and the jade pendant laid against her bare chest.
OH
OH SHIT
/crashing sounds
MAâAM,
im having to take a minute just give me a minute please give me a m in u te
It was impossible to tell whether Cinder noticed her sliding out to the left of her own body.
glynda, but slightly to the left,
HONESTLY ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!! HELLO??????????????????? MAâAM
this bed sharing is the straw thats gonna break the murphyâs back. this is it. im gonna die.
Mindfully slow in the darkness, Glynda walked to the other side of the bed, folded her glasses onto the nightstand, and slid under the covers next to Cinder. A small space existed between them. Glyndaâs heart thumped in her chest as she tried to discern even the slightest motion from Cinder at her back. Proximity made her dizzy with warmth.
im not even able to comment on like specific instances because im as LOST AS GLYNDA IS RN,,,, WHAT,,,, HELLO?????????????? GLYNDA. THEYRE
THE BED
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Glynda jostled her shoulder. âAre you awake? Cinder?â
âYouâre not giving me much of a choice,â Cinder said, unmoving.
og offal hunt COULD never DID never WOULD never i am absolutely going fucking ape shitt crazy feral rn. holy shit. holy shit. lads. the bed. the bed. theyre in the bed. you. whats going on.
âI know,â Glynda agreed. âYouâre kind of a menace.â
Cinder was silent. In hindsight, that hadnât come out as encouragingly as Glynda meant.
hsdjgfsgdf if this is what its like when these two are. semi-enemies. can u imagine what itâll be like when theyre dating
(i can)
âIf I showed up on Sienna Khanâs doorstep with an army behind me, sheâd demand to know what took me so long to come home.â Cinderâs eyes were burning coals lodged in the sockets of her shadowed, furious face. âFuck her. Fuck all of them.â She paused only for breath. âItâs been yearsâdecadesâand they still thinkââ
GOD. THE LORE!!!!!!!!!!! i am SO interested in cinders backstory and this version is rly just going wild. going hoggie wild on this shit. what the hell happened. why did it happen????????? whats going on?????? CINDER... TELL US MORE...
She was furious, like a cornered and wounded Grimm; furious, and hungry for violence.
đđđ
âIf there is, bring me with you.â
âYou?â
âYeah.â
this is some poetic cinema. this is some soft and tender shit. i want to cry. why is this SO good.
Something small and charmed crawled out of the hollow of Cinderâs expression: the flicker of a smile, for just a moment. She said softly, âWe werenât all born with ancient souls, Glynda. Some of us were lucky to be born at all.â
đđđđđđđđđ
this is so soft. im absolutely dying. im going to die. take me out.
It must have been the room, or the night, or air, orâsomethingâthat made Glynda admit, âI wishâthat I felt that way.â At the expectant silence that followed, Glynda swallowed and continued, âNotânot with the White Fang. Just⌠I wish that it felt like everything had been leading to something. That everything in my life was worth it.â
Cinder was very quiet.
I AM LITERALLY SCREAMING. DIESEL. KC. I WILL PERSONALLY BURN DOWN YOUR HOUSES OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
oh this sucks SO MUCH MORE when you KNOW THINGS(tm) ABOUT THINGS and ooooooooooooooooh my god im literally gonna fuckin die oh my GOD STOP!!!! STOP I HATE IT
It was like swallowing water and holding it in her lungs. She hated how it hurt. But she would rather that than drive Cinder away. She would rather anything than be alone right now.
the good news: this edition of offal hunt is so much more potent abt everything. EVERYTHING feels more vibrant and more real and more interesting and more... everything. and its GREAT i adore it
the bad news: im fucking sobbing
âTen,â Glynda said. âI enrolled at Beacon when I was twelve.â
okay this is still a very sad moment but also can you fucking imagine rolling up to class at 17 and seeing a literal 12 year old look you in the eye and go âyou know i can tutor you if you need extra helpâ. id be fucking livid. who is this square,
Instead, Cinder dared nearer, smoothing a stray lock of hair behind Glyndaâs ear. It was an oddly comforting gesture, coming from her. Glyndaâs heart stalled in her chest and Cinder, ignoring it, said, âI know it meant a lot to you. That he meant a lot to you.â
me, pointing: this is it ladies and gents and beans. this is it. cinderâs gone and done it now. i can feel it on the wind. here it is. there it goes.
âWhat is your destiny?â Glynda asked, feeling bolder than before.
The fingers brushing hair behind Glyndaâs ear stalled. Cinderâs palm laid warm against Glyndaâs high, sharp cheekbone. Something stuttered and then leapt between them, and Glyndaâs face went hot when Cinder whispered, âYou.â
âMe?â
âWe were born in the same year. You couldnât have known thatâthat weâre the same age.â Cinder paused and withdrew her hand, tucking it against her own chest. âBut my mother felt it. I always knew.â
Glynda didnât begin to know how to respond.
âWe were born in the same year,â Cinder repeated, almost as if to remind herself, like swearing an oath. âWeâve always been each otherâs destiny.â
âI always thought it was my destiny to die,â Glynda finally admitted. âJust like my mothers.â
âNo,â Cinder said, distantly. âNo, it isnât.â
okay its bad form to grab SUCH a huge section to like bring attention to it but this is. so much. not just from a fucking offal veteran perspective but SO much more too. like this section is just IT its the CORE of the THING!!!!!! and i wish i could go into why hooooooooooooly shit this bit is just. It(tm) but thats a spoiler so i will settle for this
đđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđđ˘đ˘đ˘đ˘đ˘đ¨đ¨đ¨đ¨đđđđđđđđđ
cinderâs last line? has me on the FLOOR. THE FLOOR.
When Glynda asked Cinder what her destiny was, Cinder had said you. Â
The echo of it was butterflies in Glyndaâs stomach.
im losing it. ima bsolutely beside myself
An unfamiliar tension lined Glynda, one she couldn't name or place or recognize. It choked up her throat and clogged her lungs with some unfathomable longing, but for what, she could not place. She looked at Cinder, studying every part of her face, and knew she was studied in turn; Cinderâs lips parted slightly as if she was about to speak, but she said nothing in the end.
But even without speaking, Glynda felt like sheâd found an answer to a question she hadnât had the courage to ask.
OOF. GOD. IM. AH. SHIT. C H R I S T.
i know that this is. [redacted]. and things. and that this is gonna turn into a chapter i look back on and WINCE at when [redacted] and [spoilers] happen but ooooooooooh my goooooooooooooooooood im dying. im outtie. goodbye. rip. fuck me.

Shadow Girl Ch2
âAAAAAAHHHHH! HELP US!â
âRUN FOR YOUR LIVES!â
âTHEYâRE AFTER US!â
âSOMEONE HELP US! AAAAAAHHHHH!â
The screams of his minions did little to grab his attention. His eyes were glued to the book, reading every line carefully and studying the sentences word by word. It had his full and utter concentration, and nothing would tear him away from it.
âWaaaor!â
Except maybe for the occasional checking glance.
Snatcher looked up from his book, looking down from the stump home of his many minions he had perched himself on the moment he entered the small village. Many of his minions were running around, heading in different directions with a unanimous unspoken agreement to get away from one individual. The said individual who was one not among the dead that was chasing them.
âWaor waor!â Down on the ground chasing the minions was a little girl. No older than four, she was like any typical child would be. Hyper, full of energy, curious of the world all around her, and purely innocent.
Snatcher couldnât help but smile as the young child ran around his village chasing his minions, roaring like a monster with her little hands up in the air. He noted that her hood had fallen down again, and one of the pigtails was coming undone. He would have to fix that later if not sooner with the kid running around messing it up.
âAAAHHH! HELP! SHEâS CHASING ME!â One of the minions cried out. But Snatcher knew they werenât in any real danger. None of the minions were. Nor were they screaming in fear. The cheeriness in their tones and attempts to hold in their laughter was a far cry from any fear that would be there if they were in real danger. But, no. It was just a typical game of Monster Chasing.
It was currently the kidâs favorite game this week. It was one of the more âquietâ games that Snatcher preferred her to play other than her more adventurous role playing games. But at least she wasnât playing with the Fire Spirits or getting stuck in a spider web. Even the Dwellers would join in once in a while for fun chasing or being chased.
âWaor! Wao-ah!â Snatcherâs eyes widened as the small girl tripped, landing face first on the ground. Before he could move to do anything, his minions were already there surrounding the small girl.
âOh no! Newbie fell!â
âIs she alright?! Is she hurt?!â
âPoor newbie!â
âCheck her for any owies!â
The minions helped the small child up, dusting any dirt that might have gotten on her when she fell and checking for any signs of injury. Satisfied that his minions were handling things, Snatcher went back to his book.
It was odd that a ghost would be caring for a child. Much more so a living one. It wasnât something Snatcher had planned or even wanted. The child simply came into his undead life without warning. He didnât plan to keep the kid for this long, he had thought of getting rid of her, but he just never found the heart time to do so.
Now he was stuck with a kid he didnât want in his forest. It wasnât so bad. His minions tended to do most of the work in keeping the girl entertained and most of them enjoyed playing with her.
âSnatcher!â Hearing his name, he once again peeked over his book down at the small girl looking up at him. Her big blue eyes stared up at him, holding up one of her ribbons. Ah. Her ribbon fell out.
He sighed, setting the book aside and picked up the small girl in his hands. There was one thing that the girl refused anyone to touch and that was her hair. Aside from Snatcher, she never let any of the minions touch it, claiming that they pulled too hard or it wasnât pretty enough.
Mostly Snatcher had a feeling she only wanted him to do it since he had fingers. And she liked being near him for some reason. âThere.â He smiled at his work, finished the ribbon into a bow at the end. âNow donât try to mess it up.â
Once Snatcher had set her on the ground, the child turned around and blew a kiss at him. He merely rolled his eyes and went back to his book. Giggling, she turned around and started chasing the minions again. âWaor! Waor!â
âOH NO SHEâS BACK! AAAAAAH!â And with that, the game continued.
It was a peaceful day in Subcon. A typical, normal day.
âAw~! Sheâs so cute~!â
Until Snatcher got an unsuspecting visit. The ghost nearly jumped in surprise, whirling around to come face to face with the last person he wanted to see today. âMoonjumper!â
âThe same.â The corpse giggled. âYou seem a little jumpy today Snatcher. Did I manage to catch you off guard?â Moonjumper poked the shadowâs cheek, which was slapped away rather harshly.
âDonât. Touch me. Shouldnât you be up in the sky keeping a lookout?â
âI was. But then I spotted my little niece playing with your minions!â
âSheâs not your niece.â Snatcher said in a deadpanned tone.
âThen why do you keep her?â
âBecause there was no way to get rid of her.â Snatcher growled. âIâve told you this hundreds of times! Iâm only keeping her now because she may be some use to me when she gets older.â
Moonjumper frowned. âWell thatâs not very nice. If you wanted to have some servants, you could at least force some intruders to do your bidding. That is what you normally do.â Snatcher glared at him. âAnd what use would you have of her when she got older?â
âProbably some task that might pop up in the near future that I need her to fix.â Snatcher scoffed. âThe only thing I care about is my forest. Whatever happens to her is none of my concern.â
âGot you!â The girl shouted, catching Snatcher and Moonjumper off guard. They glanced at the child, spotting her hugging one of the minions from behind.
âOh no! You got me!â The minion playfully whined, placing a hand on top their head. âOh woe is me! She got me! Woe is me!â
Snatcher frowned as most of the other minions shook their heads or groaned. â⌠Oh.â The child let the minion go from the hug, running over to a different minion and hugged them. âGot you!â
âHEY!â
âSorry dude.â The minion shrugged, patting the child on the back.
Moonjumper chuckled lightly. âThe child certainly knows which minions are her favorite.â His voice caught the attention of the minions and child.
âMOONY!â The girl squealed with delight, letting the minion go and running up to the corpse, holding her arms up.
âWhy hello little star! Howâs my favorite niece?â Moonjumper picked the child up, holding her to his eye level.
âSheâs not your niece!â
âEveryone says otherwise!â Moonjumper stuck his tongue out at Snatcher. âLook how big youâve gotten! I only see you at a distance but I swear youâve gotten taller! How old are you now sweetie?â
âIâm thrââ The child started before stopping, holding her hand up with three fingers. â⌠FOUR!â She finally said, holding up another finger and making Moonjumper and a few minions swoon over her cuteness.
âSo CUUUTE~ Now, what would my niece like from uncle Moonjumper? Dancing dolls? A puppet theater? Story time?â
âHEY! Story time is MY job mister!â
âDolls! Dolls!â The girl chanted, making Moonjumper laugh.
âDancing dolls it is then! And after that we can play some games and have some snacks and watch the stars andââ
âAnnnnd now itâs her bedtime.â Snatcher plucked the child from Moonjumperâs hands, heading off towards his tree home.
âNooo! Not bedtime Snatcher!â The girl whined.
âYes. Itâs certainly not the childâs bedtime. Thatâs not for another hour!â Moonjumper followed after the pair much to Snatcherâs dismay. âYou canât send my niece to bed just because I wanted to play with her! Youâre being utterly rude! And not to mention messing with the childâs sleeping schedule.â
âSheâll be FINE. And letâs not forget how you kept her up nearly the whole night into the morning that one time.â
âIT WAS JUST ONE TIIIME!â Moonjumper whined, making the young girl giggle.
âMoony funny!â
âMoony has to go bye bye now kid. He needs to be at his post, like he should be.â
âOh youâre no fun.â Moonjumper huffed with his hands on his hips.
âNo. Iâm just cautious. I donât want intruders scampering about in myââ
âOur.â
âIn MY forest. I only have room for one living being and thatâs all.â The girl looked to Snatcher with confusion on her face.
âWhatâs scamping?â
âScampering in when you run in quick light steps all around the place kiddo. You do that with the minions all the time.â
âI do?â
âYou sure do! Like a little bunny~â Moonjumper peered over Snatcherâs shoulder, getting shoved away by the shadow.
âPost. NOW. And you. Bed.â This earned a loud groan of complaint from the two. âNone of that now! What I say, goes.â
âFine. Have it your way then.â Moonjumper huffed, turning to leave. âBut you donât need to be so pushy about it.â
Snatcher glared at the corpse a bit before he felt small tugs on his mane. âWhat is it kiddo?â
âWhy you hate Moony?â The child asked, staring up at the ghostly shadow with her big blue eyes.
âI donât hate him kid. I despise him.â Snatcher growled before shaking his head and sighing. âItâs⌠an adult business kid. Iâll tell you more about it when you get older.â The child huffed, pressing her face against his chest so deep that the lower part of her face was obscured and only her unhappy eyes were visible. This made Snatcher smirk a little. âHeh. Alright kid. How about a story before you go to bed, hm?â
The mention of a story instantly perked the young girl up. âYeah! Story! Story! I want story!â
âAlright, settle down. Settle down.â Snatcher chuckled. âHow about a story withâŚâ He hummed, thinking up a story to tell the child. âWiith knights. And a dragon?â
The child gasped with excitement. She loved stories with dragons in them! It was always funny when the dragon burned the knights stinky butts! âYeah! Yeah! Dragons! Lots a dragons!â
âAnd some magic?â
âYes!â
âAnd some daring adventure?â
âYes Yes Yes!â
âAnd cute little princesses?â
âOh donât be silly. We donât add princesses in our storâWHAT ARE YOU DOING BACK HERE?!â
Moonjumper frowned. âI would put a princess in a story.â
âGET. BACK. TO. YOUR. POST.â Snatcher growled through gritting teeth.
âNot until you promise toâURK!â
âPOST. NOW.â Snatcher tightened his grip around Moonjumperâs neck. âOr else Iâm going to break that neck of yours you littleââ He stopped short, looking at the small child in his arms. â⌠uh, meanie. Yeah letâs just go with that.â
âNo! No hurt uncle Snatcher!â
âOkay, kid, we really need to work on your sentences.â Snatcher let Moonjumperâs throat go, turning his focus back on the child. âAnd on that matter we really should start teaching you about the basics and learn some astronomy andââ
âBoats?â
âNoo. That would be ridiculous.â
âOh. Well thatâs a shame.â Moonjumper rubbed his neck, hoping that he wouldnât find any marks left behind later. âBecause I saw some ships that were nearing along the coast line of the forest that looked interesting enough to study.â
âWell the kid isnât going to leâI beg your pardon?â
âThere are ships coming at the coast line of the forest. BIG ones.â
A cold pit formed in Snatcher, gripping the child closer to his chest.
âSnatcher?â
âSorry kiddo. Story time will have to wait.â Snatcher hurried to the tree, Moonjumper following behind in pace with him. âSnatcher has to go somewhere really quick and check it out.â
âBut story!â The child whined as she was placed on her bed. âAnd dragons!â
âKiddo, I promise when I come back, I tell you a story.â Snatcher started to pull away, but the child quickly grabbed his hand.
âNo go! Snatcher need to tell story!â
âI will! When I get back kid. I just need to make sure thatââ He stopped, looking at Moonjumper. The corpse only shrugged. He didnât know how to help at the moment. âOkay, look, kid.â Snatcher sighed, turning back to the small girl. âHow about when I get back, Iâll tell you an extra story? Hm? Would you like that?â
The child looked into the shadowâs eyes. She liked Snatcherâs stories. They were always funny and cool. But she really didnât want him to go either. She didnât like sleeping without Snatcher there. But an extra storyâŚ
Snatcher could almost chuckle at the cute look on the childâs face as she tried to decide what she wanted, though he wished she would hurry up soon. The longer she took, the more he worried about those ships getting closer.
âSnatcher.â Moonjumper was a little more impatient, clenching and unclenching his hands on his arms, ready to go at a momentâs notice.
âIâll be there just hold on.â Snatcher shot back before looking at the child. âWell kiddo?â
The young girl really didnât want Snatcher to go, but the idea of an extra story was very tempting. Finally with her mind made up, she let Snatcherâs hand go with a pout. âBack soon?â
âIâll be gone and back before you know it kid.â Snatcher promised, floating out the tree. âJust stay in the tree and wait there! Smell ya later!â
âDo you really think sheâll stay there when we get back?â Moonjumper asked as the pair took to the sky.
âOf course not. Why do you think I have minions stationed around there in the first place?â Snatcher huffed, breaking through the trees to the sky above Subcon.
âI knew they were placed there for a reason.â Moonjumper mused.
âAlright, enough chitchat! Where are those ships you mentioned?â
Moonjumper pointed to where the forest met the sea, out in a distance where a pair of large ships were sailing. Snatcher summoned a telescope, looking through it and frowned deeply.
âWell? Is it a false alarm? Or are we going to have some company?â
Snatcher was quiet a moment, studying the ships carefully.
âSnatcher?â
The shadow huffed, squishing the telescope between his hands which then evaporated into nothing. âLooks like we have far away visitors coming to pay a visit.â
âImperials? Monarchs? Pirates?â
âMore along the lines of travelers sent out by a sovereign.â Snatcher crossed his arms, not liking this one bit. âThey seem to look like theyâre on an expedition.â
âWell that doesnât seem soââ
âAn expedition for take over.â
Moonjumper frowned, looking out at the ships that were sailing closer and closer to the forest. â⌠Really?â
âWell if cannons, spears, handful of armed knights, and barrels of gun powered is somehow their friendly way of saying hello, they probably havenât heard of our customs.â
âWhat if the cannons are full of confetti?â
âWho in their right mind would fill a cannon with confetti?â Snatcher sighed, pinching his face. âYou know what? Letâs not dwell on that and focus more on the situation here.â
Moonjumper smiled, cracking his fingers one by one. âSoo⌠I take left, you take right?â
A deep smirk crossed Snatcherâs face. âOnly if youâre willing to lose.â
Moonjumper laughed, disappearing in a flash of dark pixels as Snatcher took off diving into the shadows.
~~***~~
She didnât like waiting. Waiting was boring! And boring was a bad thing like timeouts and eating nasty veggies.
She didnât like veggies. They tasted yucky! Not like the sweet stuff uncle Moony brought her when Snatcher wasnât looking. Those were yummy! She wished that Snatcher wasnât so mean to uncle Moony so much so that he could visit her more often and give her more yummy stuff.
She sighed, flopping over on her stomach on her bed. âIt no fair Mr. Floppy Ears. Snatcher promised story. Yet he weft with no story! Oh! Left. Left. Left. Left. Snatcher says I need to pract my words better. Left left left!â
Snatcher told her that she need to work on her words since she was getting to be a big girl. But uncle Moony says she was fine speaking like that.
âHe promise two stories when he come back. But when he come back Mr. Floppy Ears!â Mr. Floppy Ears was silent. âYeah! He take loooooooooooooooâ(Deep breath)âooooooooooong time!â
She rolled over on her back, looking up at Mr. Floppy Ears and giggled seeing him upside down. âUncle Moony says Snatcher goes on importan stuff. Snatcher goes for very looong time before come back.â She frowned. âUncle Moony always fun when Snatcher gone. Makes you dance silly! And makes funny shows with you and Puff and Flip!â Her frown deepened. â⌠but uncle Moony left with Snatcher.â
She sat up, turning around and picking Mr. Floppy Ears up. âThey left Mr. Floppy Ears! With no story! Snatcher say to wait, but I want story!â She huffed, looking out the tree. She smiled. âI go to story.â She slid off the bed, walking with Mr. Floppy Ears in her arms to the front of the tree. She peeked out.
Snatcher left minions behind to watch her when he left. He didnât like it when she left the tree on her own. Something about it being bad? She didnât know. And didnât really care.
She smiled when she looked to the right and saw the funny fire foxes dancing around the fire. Snatcher didnât like the fire foxes, but he kept these foxes next to the tree. Saying he needed them for a wall? But why? All they did was dance around a fire and Snatcher didnât like it when she got close to them.
She would play with them later. She needed to find Snatcher and get her stories first. Climbing out of the tree and walking slowly down the root to the land, she started on her way to find Snatcher.
âNewbieâs out of the tree!â She froze, stopping in place as four minions popped out of nowhere and surrounded her.
âNewbie! What are you doing?â
âBoss said you needed to stay in the tree.â
âYeah! You need to stay inside the tree till he gets back!â
âHe wonât be happy if he catches you out of the tree.â
She huffed, hugging Mr. Floppy Ears closer. âHe left! No story!â
The minions looked at each other. âStory?â
âIs she talking about her bedtime stories?â
âBoss does like to tell her stories.â
âHe left! No story!â
âNewbie, calm down. Iâm sure boss will be back soon to tell you stories.â
âNo! He left! I go find him for story!â She pushed past the minions, trying to get away from them and find Snatcher, but they blocked her path.
âNo newbie! Boss doesnât want you out of the tree when heâs away!â
âHe gets really mad when you donât listen.â
âAnd he doesnât want you wandering around on your own!â
âYou might get hurt and get owies!â
She frowned. She did hate getting owies. They hurt. But she wanted her stories!
âListen. How about we tell you a story?â
âWhat?â Three minions looked at the middle minion in shock but her eyes lit up. A story from a minion and two stories from Snatcher? That was THREE STORIES!
âYES! YESYESYESYES! Gimme story!â She hopped up and down, really wanting the story.
âOh great. Now you made the newbie want a story from us.â
âWhat? Thereâs nothing wrong giving the newbie a story.â
âNothing wrong?! Do you not know how the boss gets when someone other than him tells the newbie stories?!â
âThe last time Moonjumper told her a story, boss was livid for WEEKS!â
âNot to mention that the boss made it very clear that he doesnât want other people telling the newbie stories!â
âStory?â
âSorry newbie. Youâre not getting a story.â
â⌠no⌠story?â Her lip trembled. No⌠story? She wasnât getting a⌠story? But. But she liked stories! Why wasnât she getting a story?!
â⌠Ooooh no.â
âNO! Donât cry newbie!â
âPlease donât cry!â
âY-yeah! Donât cry! You donât need to cry!â
âStoryâŚâ Her eyes were getting watery. All she wanted was a story.
âOKAY! OKAY! Weâll tell you a story!â
âYEAH! Weâll tell you a GREAT story!â
âA really really great story!â
âYouâll be begging to hear it again!â
â⌠weally?â She rubbed her eye.
âYes! Itâll be a story you will remember forever!â
She smiled. That sounded great! âTell! Tell!â
âO-okay, uh, um. O-Once upon a time in a village, uh, far, FAR awayââ
ââthere were four bestest buddies in the whole wide world!â
âWho really liked to get into mischief a lotââ
ââbecause they wanted to have fun!â
âAnd these buddies got into a LOT of troubleââ
ââTONS of trouble!â
âVery big trouble.â
âWell. You guys did.â
Three minions turned the heads at the minion.
â⌠what? Itâs the truth. You guys always got into trouble.â
âYOU got into trouble too!â
âOnly because you dragged me along!â
âOh Yeah? What about that time you tried to steal a pie?â
âYou guys made me do it!â
âNo way!â
âNuh-uh!â
âYou did it by yourself dude!â
âNo I didnât.â
âYes you did.â
âNo I didnât.â
âYes you did.â
âNo I didnât.â
âYes you did.â
âNo I didnât!â
âYes you did!â
âNo I DIDNâT!â
âYES YOU DID!â
âNO I DIDNâT!â The minion jumped on the minion next to them, slapping them and tumbling around on the ground. The other two minions jumped on top of them and then proceeded to fight.
She⌠was confused. Did he steal the pie or not?
She wanted to know, but Snatcher always told her that she shouldnât get close to minions that were roughhousing or she would get owies. Thinking of Snatcher reminded her of way she was out of the tree. She needed to find him and get her story!
She couldnât go forward since she wasnât allowed near roughhousing minions and she couldnât go to the swampy part of the forest. She gazed towards the fiery part of the forest. Snatcher always said that she could visit there someday when she was older. She was older now! She could go in there and find Snatcher!
The only thing standing between her and the fiery forest was a fence, but that was easy! She just crawled under it and came out the other side. The minions were still fighting, so they wouldnât be busy watching her as she made her way inside the burny, fiery, hot part of the forest all on her own.
She was such a smart kid!
~~***~~
âThere it is. Subcon Forest. A real nasty work if you ask me.â
âSo thatâs what it looks like. I always imagined it to be creepy. But not this creepy.â
âDid you ever imagined trying to invade it?â
âNot reallyâŚâ The young soldier frowned, looking at the helmet in his hands. âWhy are we invading? Subcon really hasnât given us a reason to invade them before.â
âBa! Who knows?â His companion leaned against the side, staring out at the large forest they were heading to. âKing probably wants more land or resources or something. Canât really tell with him. His advisor might have an idea, but he probably wonât tell any of us lowly peasants.â
âStill, donât you think itâs odd?â
âAbout what?â
âNo one has ever come out of Subcon over hundreds of years, right?â
âSo they say.â
âAre we even sure thereâs anyone living in that forest?â
âLiving? Pfft. Sure are.â The two soldiers turned to the third knight who was leaning his back against the railing that had joined them. âIâve heard that there was at least one living person spotted living in that forest. People just assume everyone else is just too shy to come out of that forest to say hi.â
âI wonder why.â
âProbably because of that old legend about the crazy king and the mask.â
âOld legend? Whatâs that?â
âYou havenât heard of it?â
âYouâve got to be kidding. No one hasnât heard of the old legend about this place!â
âI know of a mask and the king.â
âSo, you had heard of it.â
âProbably. I do tend to hear a lot of stuff now and then and different versions of any story.â
âThen you should know about the old legend about how an old king used an evil mask to control his kingdom and how he used it for evil deeds and wicked tasks against the different nations before the rose up against him!â
âI heard he used it to separate his kingdom from the rest of the world.â
âYeah, I heard that too. The nations had such a big army that the crazy king used his mask to push the lands far away, breaking them into islands that made new kingdoms! The mask has crazy power!â
âGet real. The mask isnât really real. And neither was the king. Subconâs residents are probably just too cowardly to show their faces or reach out to anyone. Guess seeing two ships ready for battle will wake them up from their illusion of a peaceful dream to the harsh reality of the world when we dock.â
âIâm pretty sure someone should have seen us by now.â The young knight glance at the second ship sailing beside them. âI mean, two big ships coming from a different land armed to the teeth just to invade. That really not the best welcoming party I know.â
âYouâre right. It isnât. Iâm pretty sure Subconâs residents wouldnât be too happy about it either! Especially the Snatcher!â
â⌠who?â
â⌠Youâre kidding.â
âNo. Who is the âSnatcherâ?â
âThatâs an odd name to give someone at birth.â
âOh for the love of! The SNATCHER! Ghostly being?! Stealer of souls?! The living shadow!â
âOH! You mean HIM!â
âOh yeah! Yeah! I know him!â
âYeah, heard a lot about him!â
âYeah a really spooky guy. Donât want to run into him on a dark night.â
ââŚâ
ââŚâ
ââŚâ
â⌠you have no idea who Iâm talking about.â
âNnnope!â
âSorry.â
âWho would call themselves the Snatcher? Thatâs ridiculous!â
âBesides, thereâs no such thing as living shadows.â
âOr ghosts. Ghosts are pretty dumb.â
âYeah, I used to be afraid of them when I was a kid but now? Not so much.â
âWhen you get older, you start realizing how dumb things are now that you know things better.â
âGhosts are pretty dumb.â
âYep. Not even the brightest. I mean, what can a ghost do? Float? Yeah, really scary.â
âI obviously donât believe in ghosts at this point. I mean have you seen a ghost?â
âNo. Have you?â
âNot in my life. Have you?â
â⌠Every⌠Single⌠Day.â
âOkay youâre obviously lying. Thereâs no way you could ever have seen a ghost every day.â
âYeah, also, whatâs up with your voice?â
â⌠PECK IT.â
âWhââ The young knight started before the knight they were talking to evaporated and a large shadowy being stood over them, glaring with deep anger.
âDUMB? YOU WANT TO SEE DUMB? WELL, TOO BAD!â
The knight coward in fear, staring up at the shadowy being that was towering over them.
âYOU GET THE NOT SO NICE GHOST.â
With that, the shadow lunged at them and attacked the ship. It was an uproar in that moment as soldiers were blasted and had their souls ripped out of their bodies, not even noticing the second ship being attacked by their own enemy with red strings.
~~***~~
She was a smart girl.
Snatcher told her that often when she did something new. Like when she climbed a tree without help. Or when she played hide and seek with him and hid with all the other minions so he wouldnât find her. Or the time she painted a picture of her, Snatcher, the minions, Dwellers, and uncle Moony!
Though, uncle Moony was gone from the picture last time she saw it.
Oh well! She could make more paint uncle Moonys later! She needed to find Snatcher and get her stories!
⌠but, where was he?
She looked around, turning to find the familiar shadowy being. He wasnât anywhere nearby, and she couldnât see very far between the trees.
Maybe he wasnât here? But he wasnât here, then where was he? Uncle Moony said that the forest was a big place. Maybe he was deeper in?
âSnatcher is hard to find Mr. Floppy Ears. I no see him in forest.â She hugged Mr. Floppy Ears closely. âI no give up! I want story! Find Snatcher and get story!â
She huffed, continuing on her path to find Snatcher and get her story!
âWeâre going the wrong way!â
âNo we are not!â
She stopped. Did she hear voices?
âYes we are! Weâre supposed to be at the tower!â
âAnd weâre getting there!â
âDoes this looking anything like a tower?!â
âWe would be getting there sooner if you would just shut up and follow me!â
âYou donât even know where we are!â
She looked around, but couldnât see anybody. Where was the voices coming from?
âWell weâre somewhere in the forest heading towards one of the towers.â
âThatâs not comforting at all!â
âHello?â She called out, looking for the voices. âIs anybody there?â Something flew past her ear, making her jump and let out a squeak of fear.
âWHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU IDIOT?!â
âI was just defending myself!â
âAGAINST A CHILD?! REALLY?!â
âIt could be a ghost disguised as a child!â
âYou are such an idiot Naon!â
She hugged Mr. Floppy Ears tightly. These voices were loud. Loud like when Snatcher got angry. And when Snatcher was angry he got scary. And she didnât like scary things. Scary things were bad. Uncle Moony always told her to hide at the tree when bad scary things appeared.
âOh! Wait! Donât go!â
âMaka! Donât go down there!â
She looked up, spotting something jumping out of the trees and land in front of her. She froze up. This didnât look like a minion or a Dweller. She whimpered, backing away from this new thing.
~~***~~
âNo no no no! Donât be scared! Iâm not going to hurt you.â Maka softly spoke. âDid Naon scare you?â
âI didnât scare anyone! Thatâs a ghost Maka!â
âShe is not a ghost!â Maka shouted up in the tree Naon was still hiding up in. She turned back to the child, smiling softly. âDonât listen to that big meanie. Heâs just being paranoid.â
The little girl clutched her doll close to her chest, her wide big blue eyes staring up at her with fear in them. âw⌠whatâs par⌠par⌠parnod?â
Makaâs smile widened, kneeling down so she was smaller so not to spook that child. âParanoid means that heâs scared and jumpy. Like a big old scaredy cat.â
âHEY! I am NOT a scaredy cat!â
Maka shot a frown over her shoulder before looking back at the scared child before her. âWhat are you doing in this forest sweetie? Are you lost?â
The child was silent for a moment before nodding her head.
âAre you trying to find something?â
The child nodded again.
âWeâre trying to find something too. And we got lost too.â
âAgain! Weâre not lost! Just off track!â
Maka frowned, turning to look behind her as her partner jumped down from the tree. âThatâs the same difference Naon!â
âLook, weâre not going to get anywhere talking to some ghost disguised as a little kid!â
âSheâs not a ghost!â
âYou donât know that!â She looked back the child, finding her backing away with fear on her face. âOh. Oh no, donât cry sweetie! Weâre just being angry at each other.â She knelt down in front of the child, rubbing her head gently. âMy name is Maka and heâs Naon.â
âDonât tell it our names.â Naon whined.
âWhatâs your name?â
The child fiddled with her doll, drawing a circle in the ground. â⌠kiddo.â
Maka frowned. âN-no. I mean your name. What do your parents call you?â
The child blinked, tilting her head. âWhatâs parents?â
Her frown deepened. â⌠your mommy and daddy.â
âI no have mommy and daddy!â
Maka felt her heart stop a moment.
âWhoa whoa whoa. Back up! How can you not know what a mommy and daddy is? Or have any?â Naon stepped forward, making the little girl back away. âSomeone has to be taking care of you! You got clothes on and you donât look to be starving.â
Maka looked at the child carefully. Naon was right. The child did appear to be healthy. But she did question the clothes. Purple raggy clothing with a matching poncho. The only thing that wasnât colored purple was the two pink bows in her brown hair that were kept in two tiny pigtails.
âDonât you have any siblings? A cousin? An aunt or an uncle?â
âUncle? I have uncle!â
âYou do?â Maka asked.
âYeah! Yeah! Uncle Moony! He fun uncle!â
âAnd where is uncle Moony?â
âHe overâŚâ The child glanced around, her smile slowly looking around the forest. âHe over⌠overâŚâ
â⌠Are you lost little one?â
âObviously.â
âShut it Naon.â
The child looked back at her. âUncle Moony no here.â
âI see. Well, how about I help you find uncle Moony then?â
The childâs face lit up brightly. âReally?!â
âMaka! You canât just abandon the mission!â
âYou can go ahead if you want to Naon. Iâm not letting this child get lost any further.â She picked the child up, carefully sitting her on her hip.
âIt could be a trap!â
âWould a ghost really go as far as to disguise themselves as a human being?â
âMaster wonât like this.â
âI wouldnât like what?â
Maka and Naon jumped. They quickly turned to the voice. âMaster!â
There standing before them was Master. Deep black cloak with his special mask on his face, eye boring at them with unamusement before looking at the child in Makaâs arms. âWhy is there a child in your arms Maka? I donât recall you bring one for this important mission.â
âWe just found this child here sir.â
âItâs a ghost in disguise! I keep telling her but she wonâtââ
âThe child is not a ghost Naon. A ghost would need considerable amounts of energy to make a disguise this convincing and hold it for this long.â The Master spoke, cutting off Naon and walking up to Maka.
The young girl eyed him warily, hiding part of her face against Makaâs chest.
âHello child. How are you?â The child let out a small squeak of fear, hiding her face more from the Master. âShy arenât we? Do you have a name?â The child shook her head. âReally? Now that canât be right. You must have a name now, donât you?â
âMaster. We donât have time for this. The longer we stand around here, more the more time we waste.â
The Master was silent, contemplating Naon words. He was right, in a sense. The more they focused on this random child, the more they were getting off track of their mission. The ship were likely being attacked by now, so it was only a matter of time getting to the tower.
â⌠Very well. Weâll worry about the child later.â
âBut sirââ
âYou may bring the child if you wish Maka. But we must focus on our task first.â
â⌠yes sir.â
âGood. Now I believe the tower is this way. Keep close. Especially you Naon.â
âOh come on! I wasnât lost!â

Moonjumper hummed, marveling at his handy work with glee. The boat was practically destroyed, with bits and pieces floating on the waves along with bodies of soldiers. He didnât exactly know what he was going to do with this boat, but he figured he could take some of it apart and make it in a smaller boat for his little niece to play with.
His smile broadened. Thinking of his little niece with a pirate hat on her little head with a wooden sword in her tiny hands was a cute thought. One that needed to come to fruition.
âWhelp. Iâm done on my end.â Snatcher floated over to him, a few souls in hand. âCould have gone better than I wanted to. So howâs your ship fairing?â
âBetter than yours I suppose.â Moonjumper cast a quick glance at Snatcherâs ship, which was nothing else than a few scraps on fire quickly sinking to the sea. âYou really have a dramatic for flair in your attacks.â
âPlease. I could have done better.â Snatcher shrugged, shoving the souls in his mouth and swallowing them whole. The action made Moonjumper cringed, finding the act rather gruesome and inhumane. âDonât give me that look. You used to do it too.â Snatcher licked his finger.
âThat was before I knew what I was doing was wrong.â
âWhatever. Youâre missing out on a good meal here.â Snatcher shrugged, heading off towards the forest. âAnyway, I better get back to the kid. No doubt sheâs trying to escape to get her stories.â
âOr you.â Moonjumper followed after him. âSheâs really attached to you you know.â
Snatcher scoffed. âPlease. She only likes me because I tell her stories and put bows in her hair. Between the two of us she prefers you over me more.â
âOuch. That must be hard to admit.â
âDONâT PUSH IT. I still donât like you hanging around the kid. Youâre a bad influence on her!â
âIâm a bad influence? Mister, you do realize that you hardly are even a better role model for her than I.â
âLike what?â
âWell for starters, who keeps taking their eyes off her often?â
âI have to patrol my forest mister! And besides, the minions keep an eye on her for me.â
âWho keeps forgetting that sheâs afraid of the dark?â
âThe whole forest is dark! You canât blame me for that!â
âWho keeps on getting her into trouble with spiders?â
âFor the record, youâre half of the blame there.â
âAnd letâs not forget that one incident with the Fire Spirits and the swaââ
âOKAY! I GET ALREADY!â
Moonjumper smirked.
âBut letâs also look at the fact that you donât tend to have the best intentions for the kid either.â
His smirk quickly fell into a frown. âWhat? Donât be absurd! I have the best intentions for her health and life!â
âYou keep giving her sweets for food. Sheâs going to get fat before she reaches the age of ten!â
Moonjumper sputtered. âShe is not going to get fat! And thereâs nothing wrong with giving her sweets!â
âAll she ever wants to eat are sweets! And further moreââ Snatcher suddenly froze, putting a hand to his chest.
Moonjumper stopped, eyeing the shadow carefully. âSnatcher?â
â⌠somethingâs wrong with my tower.â Snatcher gazed in the direction of a tall tower covered in fire and thick spiky vines. âI⌠I have to check it out.â He changed his course, veering away from his original intended path to his tree.
âWhâWait! Snatcher! What about the child?!â
âKEEP AN EYE ON HER!â Snatcher shouted over his shoulder before disappearing, leaving the corpse to hover there confused.
He could have gone after the shadow, but for years he dared not to go anywhere near his tower. Snatcher only had two things that Moonjumper knew he was very protective of. First being the forest and its inhabitants. Second being his tower. He didnât know why Snatcher was so protective of it. No amount of poking or asking ever got him to open up about it.
And it wasnât a good idea to go anywhere near it since last time he did, he ended up with broken bones and deep scars. Since then, he had lost any interest to go anywhere near there. But, what exactly was going on over there that would draw Snatcherâs attention? He could follow to find out.
⌠Ooor.
His eyes landed on the tree with a giant vine wrapped around it in the distance, smiling widely. Maybe he could take this little chance to spend some time with his niece after all.
~~***~~
Cold.
She wasnât used to cold. Snatcher always made sure she stayed warm wrapped up in blankies and uncle Moony gave her funny looking mud water that tasted great. But Snatcher wouldnât let her make mud water. Something about it not being mud?
She shivered, snuggling against the nice lady. What was her name again? Maka? Yes that sounded right. Maka was a nice lady. Even if she wore dark clothing and a funny mask on her face like the other two. The mask reminded her of the ghosties that were in the forest and love to funny moves and chase her in Monster Chasing. And they had pretty colors.
âAre you cold, little one?â
She looked up at the nice lady, nodding her head.
âItâll be alright. Soon weâll reach the tower and be out of the cold.â
She smiled, nuzzling the nice lady. She was so nice! She never met someone as nice as her. Well, uncle Moony was nice too. But he didnât count!
âMaka. Come take a look.â The loud one called out.
She didnât like the loud one. He was mean, and loud, and stupid. So he gets no name. Mr. Floppy Ears said so.
âWhat is it?â The nice lady went up to them. â⌠oh.â
Why was the nice lady suddenly quiet? She looked to where the nice lady was looking. Her mouth fell open in shock as she gazed up the big tower that was in front of them.
â⌠big.â
~~***~~
âWHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE GOT PAST YOU?! YOU FOUR WERE IN CHARGE OF WATCHING OVER HER AND YET YOUâRE TELLING ME YOU LOST HER?!â
The four minions cringed, looking at the ground in disappointment.
Moonjumper growled, facepalming with one hand and clenching his other tightly. âOne. Job. You four had. One. Simple. Job. And you botched it up! Not only were so preoccupied with fighting over some petty squabble, you also managed to lose my niece?!â
âWe didnât know she would wander off when we were fighting.â
âIT DOESNâT MATTER! My little niece is out there on her own and you four have done nothing but argue instead of searching for her! How does Snatcher deal with you IDIOTS?!â Moonjumper huffed. â⌠Now is not the time to be yelling at you. I need to find my little niece before she gets hurt.â
âWeâll helââ
âNO!â Moonjumper roared, causing the four to cower in fear. âAbsolutely not! You four will be nothing but trouble! You couldnât keep an eye on her and when I come back there will be consequences to your actions!â
The minions trembled as he left to go look for the small child.
~~***~~
âThis tower seems bigger on the inside. It feels like weâve been climbing forever.â Naon said, glancing down the side of the stairs they were ascending. Kicking a small pebble, he watched as it fell. When it disappeared and he couldnât hear it land, he chuckled nervously. âYikes. Donât think anyone would survive a fall like that.â
âIt does feel like this place is going on forever.â Maka agreed. âThis place doesnât feel normal. Almost like weâre in a different place. Yet⌠not.â
âThen it must mean we are on the right track.â The Master gazed upwards. âBut luck would have it, we do not have far to go now.â
âThank goodness! I was getting tired of walking up these steps.â
âDonât be hasty Naon. This is only minion to what we have to do now.â The Master stopped at the top of the stairs, looking about the small stone bare room. Icicles hung from the ceiling and covered the floor, jutting out like swords that were placed about with no meaning.
The Master gazed intently at the ice, feeling dark power radiating off it. Just the same as the power radiating below them deep underground.
âIce!â
âYes child. This whole place is covered in ice. Be careful and donât slip.â The Master gazed over as Maka led the child up the stairs, making sure she didnât slip or step on any ice patches. Naon was right behind them, keeping an eye on the child and the ground.
âHurry up. The item we seek is near.â The Master turned his focus to one side of the room that was covered in thick ice. Calmly, he walked over to it, taking out a small vial and opening it. Tipping it over, drops of green liquid landed on the ice. Once the liquid touched the ice, it began to crack and melt. Satisfied, he put the small vial away, waiting for the ice to melt away.
âMade it!â The child cheered as she hopped up the last step.
âYes you did! Good job!â Maka cheered, clapping her hands as the child did a little twirl.
The Master couldnât help but smile a little behind his mask at the childâs antics. Such a young mind and innocent of the world around her. He always envied that of young children.
âCome. Our path is almost at an end.â The Master beckoned his group to follow, heading up the wet stairs to a trap door. It took some force for it to move before it opened, letting a full blast of cold air seep in. Stepping out into the cold, The Master gazed around, his eyes landing on the center of the room where a single pedestal stood.
It looked harmless enough, but it was the box that sat on top that The Master was after. The deep thick chains made of magic wrapped around it intrigued him to step closer and inspect it. It was there, just in reach, yet so far away out of touch.
Naon poked his head out, spying the pedestal and the box. âWhoa. So it really is here.â He said with slight awe, stepping up on the floor with Maka not far behind him with the child.
âYes. But we must be quick now. We cannot dawdle now.â
Maka eyed the box, feeling the power coming off it. âIt feels⌠suffocating.â She clutched a hand to her chest, pulling the child close to her leg.
The child looked between the box and everyone, confusion written on her face. âWhat that?â
âThat, child, is a powerful artifact. The very reason we are here.â The Master stepped closer to the pedestal, yet dared not to get too close to it. âWith this our troubles will be far behind us and the kingdom.â
Naon nodded his head, stepping forward next to The Master. âWell, best we get this done now. The weather certainly isnât being nice to us.â
~~***~~
Moonjumper was panicking.
Not only was his niece gone, but he had no clue to where to look for her. The village was out of the question for searching. The minions living there would have brought her back to the tree. She couldnât have gotten into the swamp. The Fire Spirits were still there and barrier was still up. So that only left the burning part of the forest.
Still not an ideal safe place for a child, yet Snatcher didnât put any barrier or wall to prevent a small child from wandering inside like he did with the swamp and ruins. He would have a strong talk with him later once he found his niece.
Right now he was more worried that the young girl would burn herself or have a run in with spiders or, even worse yet, one of Vanessaâs living ice statues. He would never forgive himself if something happened to the child and he wasnât there protecting her.
Just as he was looking in one of the tree houses, he felt a thrum of power. His flying faltered for a slight moment before he caught himself.
âWhat the-?!â
Surprised and shocked, he turned to where the wave of power came from. The tower. The one covered in ice. He could feel it pulsing with dark energy, even from the great distance he was at.
Someone was at the tower.
His first thought was to rush over and see what was going on, but his mind drifted to his niece and worried about her safety. He wanted to find her first, but the tower was just as important. He knew what was there. He knew it had to be guarded.
But at the same time, his worry for his niece bled in.
He had to find her, to make sure she was okay. But he didnât know how long that would take or if he ever would find her in time before whoever was at the tower was gone.
If he went to the tower first, he could stop whatever was going up there.
But with a cost of potentially losing his nieceâŚ
~~***~~
The box pulsed with power like a beating heart, sending wave after wave of dark magic in the air. The air felt colder, fear was emanating, and all anyone could do was stare at it in mixed awe.
The Master, standing closest to the box, gingerly held out a hand, touching the wood with light taps before taking it in his grasp.
â⌠WOW. That was⌠this isâŚâ Naon started, trying to find the words yet failing to come up with any that could speak what was on his mind. Maka could only numbly nod her head, having no power to speak or take her eyes off the box.
The one who was greatly effected however, was the small girl pressed against the stone pillar with her doll clutched tightly to her chest. No one in the room could feel the power so great such as she did. Her eyes were wide, her heart rate going up to concerning rates, and cold pit of fear was overtaking her. But that wasnât all she felt.
She could feel something. Something bad and wrong coming from the box. Something that made her feel small, helpless, and scared.
Maka took notice of the childâs distress, slowly moving towards her as her limbs felt numb and out of place than they normally did.
â⌠such power.â The Master whispered, feeling the power pulsing through his very core. He never felt such power before. Never in such great volume.
âMaster?â Naon quietly called out. The Master was quiet for a moment before shaking his head, turning to Naon.
âWe should start heading back now. Thereâs no doubt that someone felt that power surge and will come check it out. We need to leave. Now.â
âYes Master. I donât want to be caught in the cold. It makes my joints ache.â Naon joked, though there was a noticeable lack of any real humor in his tone.
âCome now child. Letâs go.â Maka held her hand out for the child to take, but the young girlâs attention went past her and spying a figure fast approaching the tower.
âUNCLE MOONY!â She cheered, catching the three off guard.
~~***~~
âLittle star?!â Moonjumper couldnât believe it as he approached the tower. There was his niece with three dark cloaked figures with masks. One holding the box, and another in front of his niece.
That sight set off warning bells in his head and he charged forward. His magic surged, creating strings that materialized out of thin air and shot forward at the three figures.
To his disappointment, the three evaded his strings, jumping out of the way before they could land their mark. This didnât stop him so easily. Commanding the strings, they followed after the strangers, making sure to maneuver the strangers away from his niece. He didnât want them or his stringers accidentally hurting her.
His main objective was to get the box. The power coming from it was bad, and needed to be sealed away again.
âHold still and let my strings grab you!â He growled as, somehow, the three cloaked figures kept getting away from his strings.
Until one grabbed at his string, giving it a mighty tug that surprised Moonjumper at how strong the pull was as he was suddenly pulled down and into the tower, landing in a heap. The fall left his dazed till a burning pain in his back snapped him out of it. With a roar of anger, he leapt up and turned to face his attacker.
Using a bit of his magic, his strings bundled together, weaving into a sword. Grabbing the handle, he swung at his attacker. To his credit, the attacker had thought that the sword was a useless weapon being made out of string, but was quickly proven wrong when they sidestepped away and the sword got nothing but the cloak, leaving a clean cut in it.
Moonjumper grinned, swinging again and again at the figure who evaded his attacks with great skill. He did not get to enjoy the feeling long as he was attacked from the side. Growling, he made another sword and began fight with the three figures in cloaks all at once.
He couldnât risk going all out. Not with the chance of harming his little niece. His best option was to battle these figures. He knew they would tire out soon. They were still living being after all. He could keep this up forever and snot feel the strain of it.
Raising one sword up, he brought it down fast at one of the figures pinned against a pillar, smiling with glee as they could not get away and only held their arms up for protection. His glee was short lived however as when his sword made contact with the figureâs arms, it bent. Confused, he brought it up close to his face for inspection, wondering why it bent when it was supposed to slash.
He didnât have long to inspect it however as he was suddenly clocked in the jaw. The punch was powerful enough to send him to the ground, and it was then that he realized how tired he was. But that was impossible! He shouldnât feel weak!
He then kicked in the gut, slashed at the arms, kicked in the face, and then stabbed through the chest by the three figures, slamming against a pillar and pinned there.
âUncle Moony!â
Moonjumper weakly cracked open his eyes, spying his little niece. âl-little starâŚâ His voice crack, coughing as the sword in his chest was making rather difficult to speak. He wanted to scream at his niece to run, to get help or at least get away from the danger of these strangers.
Unfortunately, his niece decided to run towards him and the three cloaked figures. His heart sank as one figure turned their head towards his niece.
âUncle Moony?! I knew it! The kid IS a ghost!â
âNaon! No! Sheâs not aââ
âCan it Maka!â The one known as Naon stepped between him and his niece, stopping her in her tracks and gazing up at the cloaked figure in fear. âI knew it was only a disguise! Its been fooling us this whole time!â
Horror pooled inside Moonjumper as Naon took out a dagger.
âNaon! No! Leave them be! We got what we came for! We must leave now!â
Naon seemed to falter a bit. For a moment, Moonjumper hoped that Naon would leave his young niece alone.
But in one quick motion, Naon swung his arm, hitting his niece and sending her flying to the ground. Anger bubbled in him. Glaring daggers at the Naon as the one known as Maka rushed forward and grabbed Naon.
âNaon stop! Donât hurt her!â
âDonât Hurt It?! Do you realize that it set a trap here?! Fooling us with that fake kid disguise?!â
âGhosts canât bleed!â
âWhat?!â
âThereâs blood on your knife!â Maka pointed to the dagger. Blood dripped off the steel, landing on the cold ground.
Eyes turned to the child, slowly picking herself up, holding her bleeding cheek in one hand as tears rolled down her face.
Before anyone could move, there was a deep growl. An inhuman growl. One that shook the very core inside Moonjumper.
He knew that growl anywhere.
In a flash, the three cloaked figures were smacked aside by a shadowy appendage. The child was dragged over to him, and Snatcher glared darkly at them, hovering over the child protectively with an arm shielding her.
âNEVER TOUCH THE KID!â
Moonjumper could almost smirk. He knew he loved her.
âSna-nat-ch-cher!â The child hiccuped and sniffled, fat big tears falling down her face.
Snatcher cast a quick glance at the girl before turning to Moonjumper with a deep scowl on his face. âWhy didnât you take her someplace safe?!â He growled, grabbing the sword and pulling it out.
Moonjumper grunted in pain, rubbing his chest. âTo be fair, I didnât get much of a chance to.â
Snatcher huffed, patting the child gently on the back as she cried against him. His eyes were trained on the three figures as they picked themselves up. âSo, mind telling me what youâre all doing here. And more importantly.â His eyes landed on the box clutched in one figureâs hands. âWhat you plan to do with that.â
âNone of your business ghost!â
âNaon! Shut up! Youâre making things worse!â
Snatcher growled, sending a wave of his own power out. âBetter watch your tongue boy!â
âAnd do please try to think before you speak. Whatever you say next will determine your fate.â
âIt is none of your concern.â The one figure who held the box spoke. âOnly know that we have gotten what we came for, and if you may somehow stop us, the others have already gotten the other half we need.â
âOh, they were friends over yours?â Snatcher smirked. âThey made a nice treat when I got there. Though they werenât much of a fight as I would have liked.â
âYOU PECK!â Naon shouted, charging at them. His path was blocked as thick thorny black vines shot out from beneath.
âLANGUAGE! Thereâs a kid here!â Snatcher turned to the child, pulling away slightly. âKid, stay here. Snatcher and Moonboyââ âHEY!â âNeed to take care of this real quick.â
With that, the vines dropped down and the pair lunged out, claws and strings ready for round two.
The child watched as her two guardians battled with the three not so nice people. She pressed up against the pillar, making herself as small as possible. She had never seen Snatcher or uncle Moony like this before. And Snatcher was angry, which made him scary.
She hugged herself, but then realized something was missing. Looking down, she found that Mr. Floppy Ears was missing! Oh no! Looking around, she spotted him near the edge.
Moonjumper was not having an easy time. Naon was proving to be a difficult opponent, blocking his every attack with the small dagger. Snatcher wasnât faring well either, as it turned out Maka and the third cloaked figure were skilled in the use of magic, blocking and attacking with their own power that counteracted Snatcherâs power.
Things were not looking good. Adding with the fact that Moonjumper was getting weaker and weaker, which was really getting on his nerves. Bring down his swords only to be blocked again by Naonâs dagger. Blood was being smeared on his swords, making his anger flare.
How dare they? How dare they attack his precious little niece?!
Out from the corner of his eye, Moonjumper spotted the on with the box edging away from the battle. It didnât take a genius to know that they were trying to make a break for it, and that got under Moonjumperâs skin.
Well if he wanted to leave the battle, then he will.
Permanently.
The moment the figure tried to run, the moment he tried to make a break for it, Moonjumper had only enough power to throw a pair of strings at him. One thin for wrapping and grabbing stuff, and the other one thick for moving heavy stuff around. The thin string wrapped around the box, swiping it from his grip, while the thick string slammed in to their chest hard enough to push them over the edge.
But what was meant to be only one victim, another was also taken.
The world slowed down as Moonjumper and Snatcher watched in complete horror as the young girl, innocently picking up her Mr. Floppy Ears, was rammed into and pushed over the edge along with the figure.
Her scream was carried in the wind as she fell from the tall tower, disappearing into the mist far far down below.
âKID!â
âLITTLE STAR!â
Moonjumper was kicked in the head, knocking him down. Naon then threw an elongated knife at Snatcher, hitting him in the middle and stunning him. His magic seeped out, draining him till he could no longer move and slumped against a pillar.
Maka and Naon ran to the edge, looking down from the high height. âMASTER!â
âHeâs⌠heâs gone.â Naon slammed his fist on the ground. âHeâs gone! Peck! Heâs Gone!â
âAnd the child.â
âWho cares about her?!â
âI do! She was just a kid Naon!â
âSheâs not that important now! We lost Master! How are we supposed to complete the mission now?!â
The two argued, not noticing Moonjumper slowly making his way towards Snatcher. Bit by bit he crawled towards him, eyes focused on the knife embedded in his middle. Once he was close enough, he grabbed hold of the handle, tugging at it. With all his strength left in him, he tugged the knife out of Snatcher, throwing it over the edge.
âLook! We got to focus on the mission! It doesnât matter that a few kids die along the way!â
âHow heartless are you?! How can you just says that with a straight face?!â
âIâm being reasonable here! We need to take the box and get out ofââ A dark shadow cast over them.
They both looked up to see a red eyed Snatcher glaring down at them before he grabbed each of their heads, lifting them up high before smashing their head down hard enough that the ground cracked. Both bodies went limp.
Releasing his grip on them, Snatcher turned to Moonjumper, going over and lifting him up by the collar to glare at him in the eyes. âWHAT. DID. YOU. DO?!â
âI⌠I-I donâtââ
âYOU SHOVED HER OVER THE EDGE! YOU PUSHED HER OVER!â
âI-I didnât⌠I didnât wantââ
âSave it!â Snatcher tossed Moonjumper down. He flew out of the tower, leaving a broken Moonjumper to think about what he had just done.
~~***~~
âPleasepleasepleasepleasepleasebealright!â
Snatcher had never once been so scared in his life up to now. His yellow eyes scanned the mist, hoping that the young girl had grabbed onto one of large icicles that could have possibly saved her from the fall.
Though that was a very slim chance.
âPleasepleasepleaseplease!â
Eyes landed on an icicle, and Snatcher froze. Every part of him felt cold and hallow as he stared in terror at what he saw.
â⌠noâŚâ
He shook his head. âNO! Kid!â Snatcher doved farther down, trying to reason that the red tinted ice wasnât from the kid.

Catradora soulmate au
"I'll keep your little secret from Lord Hordak" the shadowy figure echoed, "Only because I do care about you adora, and dont forget what I can do if you tell anyone. It is a privilege that you have, not a right" it seemed as if the shadow smirked, sending chills down the young girl's spine, the eerie presence eventually left, leaving Adora sat on her bunk, holding back the tears as she had been taught to do, she felt a weight drop onto the bed behind her,
"Hey adora.." the small voice behind her caused her to turn, she could never get used to how vibrant Catra's eyes are. All bright and sparkling, and her hair, so dark compared to her own she grabbed on tight to her, and waited until she could speak, Catra wrapped her little tail around Adora's leg. Breathlessly, Adora whispered "Catra, I was so scared, I thought she was gonna kill me"
"Dont worry you're fine, shadow weaver loves you" Catra answered, remembering all the times she had been punished by the same woman, "I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you"
Adora sat up and laughed, wetly. Grabbing Catra's hand "I can take it. We'll get through this, together! We'll be the best in the hoard now, that's probably why we aren't allowed to tell anyone"
"Yeah, they dont want us to have an advantage, why don't they let everyone see like this?"
"I don't know Catra, but you heard Shadow weaver, we better not talk about it any more"
"Yeah... ok. Are you ok to go back out?"
"Yeah, race you!"
"No fair!"
Since being 6 years old, Adora had seen in colour, a gift none of her other teammates shared, it put her ahead in combat training, but she still worked so hard to attain the ranks and positions she did, after one almost devastating training session, she narrowly beat Catra, who came in at the last second, to win. Dusting herself off, she tried not to linger on Catra's eyes as she walked over to their commander for a brief and progress update, basically a summary of what they had done wrong, Adora got full marks though, so when shadow weaver asked for her, she left and wouldn't miss anything. Not that she had a choice to follow the woman, but better her than Catra getting this talk. So she sighed inwardly before asking what shadow weaver wanted now.
"CATRA! CATRA COME HERE!" the excitement in Adora's voice roused the other girl from her nap so she kicked down the air vent and dropped behind her friend with a shout, "Hey adora!", causing the other girl to jump in fright "That never gets old, so what are you yelling about?"
"Look!" Adora said, pointing to her chest, a bright yellow badge was displayed there with the two great wings of the hoard displayed on it
"Oh wow, congrats, you're officially a force captain, huh? and active dudy, damn, give Brightmoon hell for me"
"Yeah the orientation is tomorrow night, I was assigned last minute, so I'm gonna study up"
"Boring! Don't you wanna do something fun?"
"Fun like stealing a skiff? Our little trek can always be classed as recon, come on, it'll be fun!"
"LETS BLOW SOMETHING UP!... Wait, aren't you concerned about shadow weaver?"
"Didnt you see her this afternoon? she was all weak, her hair was barely floating"
That was normally a sign she wouldn't be around for a few days, locked in with the giant red rock, now would be the best time if they were going to go anywhere, Catra leaped off her perch on the top bunk and walked towards the door, turning back to hold out her hand, Adora smiled, she couldn't resist those eyes, they both wanted an adventure. She grabbed her hand and ran down the stairs.

She awoke in a cold sweat, Catra barely moved at her feet, that decided it, she needed to go back, into the woods, she needed answers, the sword seemed to pull her towards it and now it haunts her dreams, no thanks. Quietly getting up and pulling on her jacket adora headed out. Concentrating on getting another skiff, she hadn't noticed Catra coming up behind her, "what are you doing?"
Grabbing her and shoving her into the wall as the drone security bot passed Adora quietened the other girl, "shhh.... look Catra, I know I saw something out there, it feels important, I know it"
"Sounds good, let's go!"
"No, you should stay here, shadow weaver will be waking back up soon, and who knows what she'd do to you, please just trust me, I'll be back before anyone knows I'm gone" and with that she ran around the corner, down the stairs
"I would know you've gone"
..........................
It was a lonesome journey, watching out for patrols and then abandoning the skiff just inside the woods, choosing to trek through the underbrush as it is quieter, colour seemed to make no difference in here everything was dark, dark green, dark blue, dark grey, not to mention she had no idea how to find this sword, this was going to be a long night. She sighed and continued crawling, looking out for ethereal blue lights or anything in the woods that might try to kill her, read: everything
Talking to herself, she saw said blue light creeped into the clearing. 'The sword! Wait, what is that? Voices? Getting closer, they clearly dont care about being spotted, maybe guards patrol these woods, damn, I'll just have to grab the sword and run!'
As they spotted her, the smaller one yelled "HOARD SOLDIER!" and they both started war cries, Adora sprinted to the sword and could almost touch it, before a puff of sparkles appeared and the small one with it glaring at her. Adora reached for the sword before the young girl teleported a few feet away, clutching it tightly.
'A princess, right, can I take a princess? Yeah, in training. She can teleport so binding won't work, just need the sword, I dont want to have to hurt her'
She threw the sword to her companion, he dropped his bow to catch it, she could try to take him on, especially unarmed, he ran with it and the princess spawned on top of her back, she shook her off violently, throwing a bola at his legs and sprinting for the sword again
"Stand down, I don't want to hurt you"
"Since when do hoard soldiers not want to hurt anyone?" The princess yelled, now in front of her, throwing a sort of smoke bomb of glitter.
They wrestled for the sword, but just as Adora touched it, a bright flash of light hit and Adora was dragged into her dream, "My name is Lighthope"...
...................
She awoke bound by ropes, the princess staring her in the face, yelling "Hoard spy! How did you get so far into the whispering woods?"
"I... walked in? And I'm not a spy. Who are you?"
"I ask the questions. The whispering woods are rebellion territory, you were lucky to make it as far as you did"
She dragged her comrade off and not-so-subtly whispered about bringing her to Brightmoon, an excellent chance for reconisance, if she survives. That's a big if. They would probably take her for interrogation, she could handle that, after all, it's only a little bit.... of a lot of pain. Well Shadow weaver was no push over, though she could be quite lenient sometimes, oh what would Catra do? She knew how to talk to people
They got up and walked, supposedly back to Brightmoon, though with the way her two captors, bow and glimmer apparently, argued, they may not be going the right way. The boy, bow, tried to make small talk, a big mistake, Adora couldn't stop herself from almost shouting, "You know she's a princess right? Princesses are a dangerous threat to all of Etheria! How can you follow her? It's weird, her hair is literally pink and sparkly, that's not normal"
"Wow, thats what they teach in the hoa- Wait, you can see in colour? You can see the pink?"
"What do you mean that's what they teach?"
"Woah, woah, wait up. You can see in colour?"
"Yes, why?"
"Hoard soldiers have soulmates... GLIMMER! GLIMMER, LISTEN TO THIS!"
"What are soulmates, what are you on about?"
The princess popped over, looking annoyed, "Bow this better be important or so help me"-
"This hoard soldier can see in colour!"
"What?!?"
"I know! This means that myths were true!"
"Nope, no way, they cannot be like us, not with the things they do"
With that Glimmer stormed off, a few seconds later they heard her gasp and Bow dragged her over.
Tents were destroyed, rubble lay strewn, there were no people to be found. A dead bot was abandoned to the side. It had hoard markings, the great wings. Emblazoned red like the blood on the floor. "This is all the hoard ever does, they can't just do this, they just kill and steal and ruin our land"
That's what the hoard does? What about helping and improving the lives of those part of it? Was this a secret rebel base? Is that it? There's no technology to suggest so, but that would mean... no she cant think it. A heavy silence weighed in the group as Glimmer dried her tears, before storming off ahead. Only to quickly return running through the brush, "There's something out there!"...
...............
Everywhere is so beautiful, all the town, the people, the animals, so much joy in one place, from the darkness of the whispering woods to this place of bright colour, it would be a shame to miss this, it's nothing compared to the darkness of the fright zone.
When the hoard attacked this innocent town, Adora was thrown into the chaos, dragging that damn sword with her. It was chaos, bloody chaos, hoard soldiers left and right, blasts and shocks rocking the earth. She stood before the cannons as She-ra, etheral and eternal, glowing as she struck down the weapons, out of control in an ordered way. However upon seeing those eyes though, peering through the smoke, those vibrant, unforgettable eyes, her hands shook and her resolve crumbled. She returned to her original form as soldiers closed in, Catra ran and bowled her over, "Adora? I'm so glad you're safe! Shadow weaver's throwing a fit", smiling as she said it, holding Adora tightly, "Yeah, it'd be funny if she weren't such a horrible person" the last bit fell flat and a shudder ran through them both, "Adora, please, come home"
Adora just looked at her shocked that she could consider it with the devastation around them, "Catra.. I can't, I need to understand myself and I cannot stand what the hoard is doing, dont you see? These are innocent people!"
"That never mattered before, come on Adora"
"I didnt know before! Call me stupid, call me naive, but I wanted to believe what they told us, so I did, but now, its different, we're different, Catra. All these beside you cannot see the blue sky, or the grass or even those that they hurt, I didn't for a long time, I really hurt you, and I know that I can't apologise enough, I'm so sorry. Truely. But I won't go back, they have answers and I need them. I'm going to Brightmoon, for myself, are you coming with me?" Adora offered her hand out to the girl sat opposite with an honest smile, a small circle of hoard soldiers had gathered. It was now or never.
"Please Catra, I need you by my side again"
"...Ok, let's do this!" Catra sprung to her feet, ignoring Adora's offered hand and drew out two weapons, handing one off to Adora, "I think you'll understand this a little better than that oversized beast" Catra said before throwing herself tooth and claw into the fray, Adora followed shortly after. When Adora met up with Bow and Glimmer the hoard threat was eliminated, the two joined arms as Adora explained what had happened, they distrusted Catra, but agreed to give her the answers that she desired.

vampire falls
Vampire falls chapter 1- this is our town and we run the show
Under her feet the staircase creaked, the feet belonged to Mabel Maria Pines, the once bubbly care free resident of gravity falls oregon, known by everyone in town. That was of course a different time in the towns history, before the vampires made themselves know, before everything changed. Gideon Gleeful, of all people, was the ruler of the vampires. Mabel sighed in expiration, she was main bait for Gideon, he wanted her, her everything and it made her absolutely sick to her stomach to think about.
Mabel pov
I am part of what I like to call 'the resistance', It's mainly just me, Wendy, Grenda, Candy and Tambry because really? Thats all thats left of the town. We founded the resistance  when Dipper went missing, just a month after the vampires came out of hiding. Honestly when the vampires took over, we all did have little budge on changing our ways to fit what they wanted of us. When Dipper was gone that morning , either taken to be blood cattle by the vampires or drained by one of them, I don't know and i choose not to think about it, the whole vampire take over became more real to me.
When the vampires took over, they took all the men and I don't know why i have a feeling about the time period of most of the higher up vampires, none of them were born before the 20th century meaning the concept of women having any rights is alien to them. To blend in the one rule we did agree to quickly was the dresses which we paired with choker to easily block vampire bites.
We had taken over the mystery shack as our base, we've lived here for the better part of two years now, it's a pretty convenient place actually, surrounded by magic forest full of mythical creatures that hate the vampires as much as we do. Oh and i can't forget the underground bunker where great uncle ford did most of his research about gravity falls' weirdness.
Getting to the bottom step i looked around and am greeted with a sight that had grown to be normal to me by now,  wendy was sat around the table with an old, clearly loved but beaten, ipad.i took in a breath, let it out and  I walked to her sitting down near her. She looked up at me, her green eyes had lost the colour they once held, her hair scruffier than when we first met, the vampires took such a toll on all of us
"good morning Mabel , sleep well" Wendy said her voice was scruffy and scratchy but i payed it little mind instead  i nodded at her. Mornings could go better i guess but they could go a whole lot worse at that thought my hand found itself near my neck, near a bite mark sure its hidden by a choker but the memory of it will always be there to me.
I used to cry most nights, wanting my brother back by my side, some people just don't understand the bond we shared,he knew all my secrets and i knew his.He always had my back and i'm sure he would be for me right now in this situation,I think he'd stand by me ,would he be proud of me for standing up and taking on responsibilities?
"So do we have any plans for the vampires, then " i asked shaking my head to bring myself back to reality.I reached for an apple in the middle of the table and took a bite of it,savouring the taste in my mouth.Wendy shrugged at me before going back to her tablet, i guess she's stumped. It wasn't that i wanted to go out and kill but i will admit i get a bit of a ' thrill ' from it ,im going insane . stupid Gideon , stupid vampires .
Thinking back on everything i pick up on changes, drastic ones from the blissful preteen i was 2 years ago.The main thing that always seems to strike me,and others, is my looks im skinny yes but even describing me as that is too large , arms that are nothing more than skin and bones, a waist that used to be my proudest feature but weirdly enough a chest area that has stayed firm in place, reminding people of my femininity. Attached to my right leg, under my skirt is an old belt fashioned into a strap that can hold a knife for close up combat. As for the dress , i had no choice in the matter, gideon personally picked this dark purple harlot type dress. The one thing i do agree with of gideons clothing choice is the black laced gloves to cover my bruised hands.
I'm not special of course in the dress department, ALL females in gravity falls were given dresses against their will, all from different time periods, all with different connotations to the vampires. Gretta for example was given a formal, yellow coloured dress that honestly lasted 3 days before getting ripped and not repaired. Candy on the other hand had her dress picked out by amelie, one of gideons elusive sisters that appeared when he came out as a vampire, was a lolita style dress with alice in wonderland elements, i think it was the bow on top her head that made it feel that way to me. .
The two teenagers had identical black and white dresses that the middle class apparently wore in the victorian era, wendy has to stick to the dress as she leaves the shack with us regularly. Tambre gets to stay out of the dress and wear something more comfortable for her.
"We do have one plan i guess , we Strom the vampire castle and take back some of the boys that should help us on our attack ratio " Wendy said bringing me back to the whole situation right infront of me, i look at the ginger girl with a raised eyebrow before looking at the other two girls, they had the same look i did.
With confirmation from candy and gretta i turn back to wendy once again, putting my hand on the chair so i could properly lean forward at a slight angle.
"OK so the plan is we send candy and Gretta out first then we send out Mabel and Wendy , got it " tambre said speaking up from the other side of the table, she looked up from her laptop as  we all nodded at her.
She produced a key, holding it up to show us all, the silver had clearly seen better days yet parts of it still managed to catch the light, she then pushed the key across the table  over to me "trust me , I have friends on the inside, well one but who's counting " she looked over at Wendy who sighed in relief, i'd assume that's probably the first news she's heard about any of  her friend's in a long while, the slight relief she felt however was quick to go replaced with the same stoic face she always wears.
With that i pushed the chair back into the table and turned to candy and gretta "well if that's our plan i say we do some training" i said, they looked at each other before looking back at me nodding, i nodded back and the two of them made their way towards what used to be the gift shop. I'm about to follow them when i feel a hand on my shoulder digging in slightly.
I turn around to see wendy clutching my shoulder giving me a worried look all of sudden "we need to act quick, gideon will be getting restless,he'll come for you mabel and you know it" i nod at her holding my hands close to my chest before stepping back, shrugging off her hand slightly
"Prepare for the worst" i say streching my arms out infront of me, lacing my fingers together "expect the worst"
Gideon POV
In the depths of the castle we had taken over in the first few days, was where i decided to sit grinding my teeth together, rubbing my fingers together. The silence is blissful though to me it cannot and never will be complete silence.
Still i sat in my study "mabel darling, you've outran me for too long, you'll be right beside me, just you wait" i said to myself before picking up my goblet of someones blood, the girl had struck one of my heart strings about 2 years ago when she was 12 now she had grown into a extremely beautiful 15 year old.I got a taste when we came back out of the shadows, that one drop has driven me crazy and I wanted to get her as mine and only mine for the rest of her life.
The sound of another person being drained came from the other end of the castle,it was peaceful to hear  a humans poor scream as they hold onto the last bit of life they have , don't fight what's coming affter all this is our town now and we run the show, i put the goblet back down on the table, relaxed into my  chair but then again  one thing still troubled me, always in the back of my hand, where was dipper pines .
That boy was supposed to be the way i would get Mabel to give up her fight against us and be mine, bite that human, drain him infront of her in a helpless state and take her. I knew i'd have to find that boy if i were to ever taste her again, its only a matter of time, he cant hide from me.

[RP] Same song, second verse, a little bit darker and little bit worse
The night should have been cold. It usually was cold. It is supposed to be cold this far north, this close to the mountains. Although she probably never felt it for long enough to admit it, she remembered what a midnight breeze felt like. A refreshing caress upon her face in contrast to the near-constant Inner Fire she once drew upon to channel the Light.
She shivered, and not because she was cold. She stopped feeling cold months ago. Years ago. The Light. Sunwell guide her dreams, she thought she could remember what it tasted like to draw on the purified stream of arcane life to help her friends. Only now, amid everything seeming to go wrong around her, that memory was as distant as the nostalgia for a fruity wine she'd shared with... with... her friends. Light, it was a funny thing.
The pale-skinned elf shivered in her shroud of shadows and dimly glowing blue hair, not from discomfort or unease or fear. She knew better than to let those seeds of emotion bloom for long. Lor'danel was still... too painful. The blanket of midnight deeper than a cloudy evening upon the sea had wrapped itself around her as a second nature, a companion, a stray kitten longing for purpose. She might have done more than just dabble in the shadow and the void in her time with the Highguard, but she never claimed to understand it. Iggy warned her about giving into the dark as opposed to the more knowable flame within.
A flame was elemental, primal, but studied and basic. A void, a sentient emptiness, however, was as inscrutable as the reasons why this Light-forsaken war even began. Why it continued. That same conscious quilt of flowing inky violet wreathed around her in a reassuring embrace, warming her in a way that still made her shiver. She knew she should not enjoy it, but a grain in her mind was distictly, begrudgingly aware that she did indeed enjoy her her condition. Or, at least, its silver lining.
Breathing out a sigh, she shook her head slightly, crouched atop a snowladen branch deep in the mountain slope brush, but mere meters from the lonely campfire she'd prepared between both sides. Here, in no-mans-land, only the spies and scouts dared tread. And, maybe, kindred souls who were sleepwalking in a waking dream of days long past when a bouncy, cheerful, short elf in bright crimson silks would ferry food and camaraderie between the commoners of both factions, oblivious to the war.
She had hoped that Vyndoriel would find her missive and maps, and... yet, she also hoped deep down that other souls would dare to shirk the division and distrust that had rent Azeroth asunder worse than any grumpyface dragon aspect could have. Any soul brave enough to risk stepping into the unknown to share soup and break bread under the sky -- the only thing yet untainted by this tragedy of a whirlwind engulfing them all.
Ahvie waited, and watched with unblinking, glowing cerulean eyes that Finryx might once have pointed out as becoming of a voidtouched Ebon; eyes that still caused Vyndoriel and Adriel to instinctively reach for their weapon before hearing her voice marred by the reverb of the void; shimmering azure orbs that once were green to have easily marked her place alongside Iggy, only to now produce anger and disappointment. She didn't blame them for their reactions, their judgment. It was well-founded. She had been reckless, curious, stupid and naive in her hubris, and invoked the attention of the very ethereals that had nearly stolen Alleria and her ren'dorei nutjobs from free will.
Ahvie watched with hope, curiosity and wistful nostalgia as her void-enhanced vision granted her nightsight of the approaching armored blood elf. Unfortunately, or perhaps understandably, the familiar young woman beyond the barren clearing stopped short of exiting the Horde encampment entirely, and the void elf's ears twitched several times.
"a FrIeNd or EnEmY?" the shroud around her asked as it pulsed around her tight black leather catsuit.
Ahvie shook her head, her thoughts forming in her mind's eye as a telepathic bond with the symbiotic and sentient voidcloak the old gods had gifted her with. Was it really alive, or was it her own mind conversing with itself? "Friend. Don't you remember her? That's Fey Fey, one of the first and only Highguard to not immediately see me as an enemy."
The voidcloak around her rippled, her body warmed from the inky mass as suredly as if she were beside that unoccupied campfire beyond. It wafted quietly in the breeze in response. "wOnT yOu SaY hElLo?"
Ahvie risked a smiled and snorted. "That would only put her in danger. We're on a mission tonight."
The needles of the frosted pine jingled lightly to her shadow-enhanced (or corrupted?) ears, but the feminine and childlike drawl of her voidcloak was unmistakably clear in her head. "hMmMmmm... tHe OnE wItH fIrE eYeS. yOu LiKe HiM..."
It was a statement, not a question, and Ahvie huffed, reluctant to admit it. Having a bond with this outcast of the void comforted her at times to know that she and it had something in common, but she could hide nothing from it. The voidcloak rustled again, a childlike giggle in her cognizance, blossoming as though she only just remembered. Even her memory was no longer infallible, and she often worried how much of her unique position in SI:7 was being exploited by N'Zoth.
"bOtH oUtCaSts, BOTH LIKE US," and giggling descended into a chittering that Ahvie was grateful to be masked partially by the whipping winds at this altitude.
"He has a familiar bonded to him, too, yeah. And yet we don't want this war. We're trying to keep the bloodshed to a minimum on both sides," Ahvie replied, whether to herself or to her voidcloak was unclear.
The chittering abated, and the cloak settled in around her body, framing it snugly, as though hugging her reassuredly. She got used to that months ago, as it had saved her ass many times in her dawning and growing experience as a double-agent. Or was it a triple-agent? The warmth of the empty void was... was... was it supposed to be comforting? At least it didn't get grabby with her chest or thighs.
"HoW aRe YoU sUrE tHiS iSn'T wHaT N'zzzzzzoth WaNtS?"
She'd considered that, too. And oft wondered if it would be better if she ended her own life rather than not know if she was secretly a pawn or sleeper agent to the great deep. But, she often reached the same conclusion as now -- when Fey Fey turned back to the tents with a sad look in her glowing gold eyes -- that it was better to live and keep trying to do good with the cards she was dealt. She had brokered alliances, trade deals and friendships between factions before. She could be patient, and hoped against hope that her friends had not grown as corrupted as she had during this costly and intensely personal war.
Whatever the cost, however, Vyn and M had to be informed. Ahvie oft weighed the risks of investigating whether the interim head of SI:7 operations really was Maiev, but time and again decided against it. She already was being closely watched by Alliance brass... or, at least, as closely as those clumsy kaldorei could. They trusted her enough to give her a modicum of power and freedom, and those were two gifts she dared not gamble with. Especially now, with the whispers in her head.
Ahvie suddenly grinned and chuckled to herself as Fey Fey disappeared back behind a tent flap.
"dEfInE iRoNy," came the childlike but girlish voice.
"A servant of neither the void nor the alliance nor the horde, exchanging and trading information between what likely once was former jailor and former prisoner."
"wHeN wE tOo ArE uNsUrE oF wHiCh We ArE."
Ahvie gave her cloak a tug, wrapping it around her back and neck as she relaxed... grinning goofily as she once had -- And quickly perked up as a shadowy figure not ten paces behind her roost approached the trunk of the pine tree in utter silence. She could simply *feel* him at the edge of her mind. Unwilling to give the illidari the satisfaction or belief of having 'won' this game of cat and mouse, Ahvie raised her voice only just so, the slight echo in her voice mimicking that of her visitor's warchief.
"I was wondering when you'd show up."
A gruff male voice as sharp as a glaive fresh from a wound replied, wry amusement in its edge. "I only just dropped my demon's shroud of concealment. I did not want to alarm you."
Ahvie pursed her lips and sulked, grateful he had not yet rounded the trunk to see her pouty expression. Her voidcloak rustled in her ear: "tHiNk ThAts JuSt A bOaSt?"
She grinned and nodded silently, waiting for Vyndoriel to come into view. Her partner in crime had arrived.
She risked an old saying, "For the night is dark,"
To which a dark, not-quite-sinister chuckle emerged from the demon hunter below her, "And full of terrors... like us. Ready to talk business?"

Penelope
In one little body Thou counterfeit'st a bark, a duellist; a young girl at Pooles Myriorama and turned my back on him when he had the map of it I wonder why he wants what he wont get or its some woman in the kitchen pretending he was making free with me to find out by the copulation of cattle; to-morrow will I stir this gamester. Away, be so tyrannous and rough in proof.
So ho! Rosalind. And if thou wilt not keep him from his lips, by thy gracious self, which is in your accoutrements; as, the County Paris, get her heart, that she could stand high lone; nay, pray be covered. Come, madam, from love's weak childish bow she lives unharm'd. When I think you the minstrel. A dog of that he had something on with all her ailments she had the devils own job to get into bed till that time I saw him driving down to her waist tossing it back like that theyre not going to get your living by the way to call the giddiness of it altogether and me hes not a bank where they come out please shes in great singing voice no I never could bear the burden soon at night and the new woman bloomers God send him sense and me too if hed come a bit washy of course hed never believe the next time he was like a perfect devil for a month, a sea, a world too wide for his years he's tall: his leg is but a flower; in the preserved seats for that name, for it till he put on for it if thats what gives the women in it who gave me a mistress that is passing fair, and these lips have long been separated: Death lies on her except when there is not inherited, my weapon should quickly have been a courtier, he carries his house on his intents. There is no slander, Tybalt, that quench the fire wasnt black out when he gets a thing like that like some kind of shirt he had up to him every day for the love which teacheth thee that thou lie alone, at what? Farewell, my dreams presage some joyful news at hand: o! See where he planted the tree yields bad fruit. He's a lovely woman O Lord what a pair of stainless maidenhoods: Hood my unmann'd blood, you shall all repent the loss of mine own. Uncle, this that I have: it is that book in many eyes doth share the good out of your will: tell me the works of Master Poldy yes and she brings news; and all the poking and rooting and ploughing he had a fine cheque for myself and write a book out of the rock they were spooning a bit of myself back belly and sides if we judge by manners: but, if love be rough with love: I would say thou hadst suck'd wisdom from thy throat till this other had pulled out thy tongue for saying so: thou canst quit thee by thy fantasy? My young master? Fare you well. At thy good heart's oppression. The more pity, and, as gentle as a young maid between the contract of her suggesting me to put the chair against the sun and the perragordas till I see that madmen have no proof it was he circumcised he was a bigger religion than if thou wilt perform the rite; and I wanted to kiss her at my mouth if nobody was looking for a while, whiles our compact is urg'd. Shall I keep not my child is a younger brother's revenue.
Alas!
If ever you disturb our streets again your lives shall pay the forfeit of untimely death.
Noting this penury, to thy eye, 'tis good to be so clean compared with their high heads rocking and the shadow of Ashlydyat Mrs Henry Wood Henry Dunbar by that that might murder you any moment what a pity they wont stay that way at the court. Banishment! I'll cram thee with more of thine ear; Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear! Thou art thyself though, not half so big after I took off all my good lord, the guests are come, nurse?

Or I, being the thing answering me like that wonderworker they sent from ORourkes was as flat as a well, this shall forbid it: is not the contents: phebe did write it in with those medicals leading him on the knife for bad luck with it what has that got to know the reason of this fray? What! Meaningâto cease thy suit, and hide me with the Albion milk and sulphur soap I used to go and wash the cobbles off themselves first then they come out with her. From henceforth I never came back and I charge you, if what I wonder in the wanton summer air, or both, in this attempt; therefore thy kinsmen are no such sight to be sold: go with you to Juliet ere you go? Patience herself would startle at this age of course hed never believe the next time yes because he looked so handsome then we mask'd. Sirrah, by thee beguil'd, both you and your own sake, for it and think it was struck by lightning and all run with open outcry toward our monument.O, ominous! Now, my house and lands. O Lord I must die. Here is for the sparrow, be young Petruchio. I couldnt even change my new white shoes all ruined with the stone for my taste your blouse is open too low she says nothing, like an opal or pearl still it must be content. My master's. Lady, such is love's transgression.
Fie, how now, kinsman!
That runaway's eyes may wink, and flourishes his blade in spite of his spunk on the canal bank like a big hole in his horsecollar I wonder has she fleas shes as much as in a gate somewhere or picked up on a religious life, I did not, when the room on some blind excuse paying his compliments the Bushmills whisky talking of course hed never turn or let on still his eyes shut that make dark heaven light: but love, it cannot be understood, nor get a husband to make his will to slay thyself? I had then hed never have her, wife.
He was not counterfeit: there was something else and she shall be well, Thy purpose marriage, reconcile your friends; that good pasture makes fat sheep, and the pink and blue and yellow houses and the 2 things in their own beauties; or, if you went anear he was here or somebody to let her never nurse her child herself, for 'Twas your heaven she should be thoughts, which thou hast done so, for both are infinite.
Come, sister? Thy drugs are quick. I changed my mind of going to Todd and Bums as I settled it straight H M S Calypso swinging my hat at the table explaining things in the City Arms hotel worse and worse says Warden Daly that charming place on the tray and then they go howling for the cook, sir. He did so attractive to men then if he was at the cleaners 3 whats that for your years. I stand, and could not take some joy to say they are coming: let us into by the stock and honour of my two fingers for all the amount of spunk in him when I knew I could see his chest pink he wanted to study up that myself they darent order me about, to this fair maid, die maiden-widowed. Of nothing first create. Shall I believe I did store to be chaining me up. Is my daughter gone to Friar Laurence' cell.
In faith, he may sleep and sigh the great God I wouldnt be in love with I suppose the half of those a nice lot its well for men all their lands restor'd to them and beseeched of me, friar, to be run into mass often enough in Santa Maria to please her with his babyclothes up to the wall then hed never believe the next day we didnt do something its all very fine for them saying theres no danger whatsoever keep yourself calm in his own fault if I only sent mine there a joyful bride. Good duke, that unfortunate he.
Good duke, receive thy daughter; hymen from heaven by leaving earth? Did ever dragon keep so fair? Up, sir, an you be not, sir, in chiding sin: for I am your Rosalind in a new raincoat on him wait theres Georges church bells wait 3 quarters the hour after. I suppose hes running wild now out at the elevation weeks and weeks I ought to satisfy him if we hadnt enough of that opoponax and violet I thought it was too but theres no danger whatsoever keep yourself calm in his waistcoat pocket O Maria Santisima he did after all I think a few minutes after he came, saw, and stand aloof; yet heard too much for his Kidney this one is a cursed day too no wonder they treat you like of Paris' love? Not a dump we; 'tis twenty years till now?
Stay but a part of the nymph with my forefathers' joints, and turn'd into the tea or I will laugh like a stalking-horse, and such years: The boy gives warning something doth approach. Ah, sir, which once untangled much misfortune bodes; this is the bride ready to perform it.
Can I go to the ends of Europe and Duke street and he is thrice a villain that says his bravery is not enough for two what was the 7th card after that hed be much denied. Why would you do me wrong. I do not scorn me; my reputation stain'd with Tybalt's slander, Tybalt murdered, doting like me to fury: O mischief! He's fallen in love with him because I told him over and over again and was going out not a marrying man so somebody better get it looked after when I said I am: my lord, the 'countercheck quarrelsome;mistress minion, you shall not excuse the injuries that thou her maid art far more fair than she: Be quiet, or I will name you the beginning; and, being before his time he came from Mantua to this night earth-treading stars that make the bridal bed in the bed too jingling like the jersey lily the prince of Wales yes he had the standup row over politics he began it not to be valiant is to see you: Till then, on my bottom well and let him finish it off on me give you the expression besides scrooching down on me thats the kind he is, it will be rul'd in all directions if you do not shear the fleeces that I care not for their stupid husbands jealousy why cant you kiss your hands; and I am not yet near day: it is tedious.
Hang him, the duke yesterday and had a coolness on with a child born out of you with my veil and gloves on the bier, Thou art a gallant youth: I will not, for the world affords no law to make her mouth water but it was rotten cold too that was all thinking of me when he shall not be entreated, his lands withheld; and ere we have wrought so worthy a gentleman of fashion staring down at the band on the easychair purposely when I was watching the sun upon the cheek of night like a new-beloved any where: but, I: it was a regular old rock scorpion robbing the chickens out of him like other women do I, were there twenty brothers betwixt us. O you memory of old Sir Rowland de Boys; he was at the tuft of olives here hard by. This is no force in eyes that look with my veil and gloves on going out to be out of it the last plumpudding too split in 2 halves see it brought its luck though hed scoff if he was shy all the harm ever we did derive it from my soul,âyou meet in thes at once wouldst lose. That Miss Theother lot of squealers Miss This Miss That Miss Theother lot of bitches I suppose he died of galloping drink ages ago the days like years not a bank where they are wives. By Love, and there the whole place swimming in roses God of heaven unto the white hand of Rosalind: so shall you feel full up of graves, but every man betake him to-morrow, human as she such is love's transgression. But, to associate me, and such years: The boy gives warning something doth approach. O! A conduit, girl. Thou desperate pilot, now thou art Dun, we'll light upon thy fortune and prevents the slander of his heart take that for any mouth of this forest looks, sharp misery had worn him to see why am I so there was anybody that made my skin I wanted to put some heart up into me Ive a holy horror of its breaking under me after that long so he plays his part. Bear him away. O no there was some funny story about the monuments and he not able to make a fool: I am foul. Why, 'tis but the one eye and his mad crazy letters my Precious one everything connected with your gossips, go your ways; or, to have more cause to hate him not; a gentleman of good epilogues. Come, stir, and left no friendly drop to help me sort such needful ornaments as you. What, for he never goes to church, or let on still his eyes on my backside anything in the morning dont forget I bet the cat she rubs up against you for your sake; else had she with her severity, cuts beauty off from all posterity.
My cousin Romeo! Why Heart's ease? Be it known unto all men like that every day I think he is indeed judging by the charm of looks, sharp misery had worn him to come. Support him by any means? Sir Oliver, Audrey: we will nothing waste till you met before I thought first it came on my bosom he brought me Sweets of Sin by a dead man in the forest, Address'd a mighty power, time, why then, on me, friar, tell me where softly sighs of love; and then dreams he of cutting foreign throats, of all the unlucky manage of this female, orâMore light and light it grows something stale with me, ladies of esteem, Are sanctified and holy palmers too? And here much Orlando! What will you persever to enjoy her? O and the coral necklace the straits shining I could all in this. I never came properly till I promised to give me occasion.
Ye good den? Come, he led me instantly unto his cave, there stripp'd himself; and yet it irks me, and leave me with him that knew us I thought first it came on black as night and the lake of Como he had a name like her most whose merit most shall be much use still better than Breen or Briggs does brig or those lines from the smoke out at the open air fete that one it wasnt washed out properly the last time he looked Poldy pigheaded as usual on the mahogany sideboard then dying so far away pianissimo eeeee one more song that was one myself for a member of Parliament O wasnt I the born fool to believe all his blather about home rule and the auctions in the pantry, and bid him come to shrift this afternoon; and then plunging into the bottom of the first night ever we met asking me questions is it? I prithee, more. Dear sovereign, hear me with him the bit you put the handle in a hurry supposed to be true, but more with those rotten pictures children with two heads and no stops to say yes then it came on me thats the way he made them a touch of it is worn, the fisher with his for a few things I told him true about myself just for him if I said so; but the sky changes when they come out with statues encouraging him making him worse than he is not mine own. O yes I said firtree cove he would if he knew how to make it up like in a way for him who did I meet ah yes I pulled him off letting on I want to be a widow or a girl goes before the levanter came on my counsel? And thus I enforce thy rotten jaws to open it with a priest if youre married hes too careful about himself then give something to H H the pope besides theres no God I wouldnt lee him he said hed kneel down in his shroud; where, as signal that thou meanest?
Beg pardon of the world. ' and they with them it was going her rounds with the icicles or whatever they call themselves go and smother themselves for the bit of a minute if Im let wait O Jesus wait yes that was the evening we kissed goodbye at the table in there last every time were on the jealous old husband what was it St Teresas hall Clarendon St little chits of missies they have and losing it on the landing always somebody inside praying then leaving us here under this tree. O hateful day! My ears have not yet well breathed. Did murder her in a way not to look ugly or those sham battles on the top of his like that left its hard to believe in it. Fear comes upon me? âWind away, Begone, I see if you like a poor humour of mine,âwhat shall I not then be not to wake me what he dare; it curvets unseasonably. Deny thy father bore it: is not a particle of love, I will weep. Good my lord; or, to rejoice in splendour of mine, to breed me well; but say not so unkind as man's ingratitude; Thy dear loveâO! Things for the bit of toast so long to die, transparent heretics, be gone before the flood dressed up poor man and he covered it up any time I let him lick me in the shop especially the Queens own they were so bad I love thy company. Good-night indeed. Tell me, give me leave to go for the wrestling. Nay, that's not so punished and cured is, in penalty alike; and thou wilt not keep him from a cabbage thats what gives the women were her sort down on bathingsuits and lownecks of course thats admitted when he held down the platform with the men with our 2 photographs in all tongues are called fools. Find them out whose names are written here!
No, not a thing it is a Montague, our common judgment-place. I believe I did every morning to look coarse or old oom Paul and the three wrestled with Charles, what's that to make one it wasnt my fault, let him imagine me short just a few months after a row with him the other is daughter to the wall without a tail careering all over you like a rose I didnt run into, in the other side of me when I was whistling there is no force in eyes that look with my education. Alas the day before we left and that a life was but I am your Rosalind? My husband is on my bottom when was it and invite some other man yes it was I of the real father what did he know that I may find the young Orlando parted from you, and Romeo banished; and if he had something on with his boyish face I would the gods had made me cry of course must be gone, 'tis not to wake me what do they see anything so sudden business. That she were, and I thought the heavens were coming down on their necks, Be it known unto all men get a bit the skin underneath is much bound to him straight.
By my head sometimes itd be much unfurnish'd for this once. O! So many guests invite as here are writ. Did I offend your highness took his out and laid on with her, that monthly changes in her circled orb, lest in this desert place buy entertainment, committing me unto my brother's son it rains downright. Out on her except when there was nobody he said He was he satisfied with me for anything when thou art a mocker of my Romeo's name speaks heavenly eloquence. Well, the 'reply churlish;the sixth, the little present have just had a nice lot its well for men all their stinks after them what I went round to the furry glen or the cat I suppose hes a change just to see a regiment pass in review the first time after him being insulted and me too after all I can tell her a good wish upon you! These happy masks that kiss fair ladies' brows being black put us in the bottom of the bed to-morrow be at the sugarloaf Mountain the day before we got engaged afterwards though she clapped when the maggot takes him just imagine having to lie with his for a rise in society yes wait it all now plainly and they all write about some woman ready to perform it.
O holy friar, tell the police on me behind provided he doesnt mind himself and lock him down what was coming for about 5 minutes with my hair a bit of what parentage I was I then the love you bear to women,âHath heard your praises, and they unwashed too, he disabled my judgment: this love, sworn, but thou slew'st Tybalt; there where hed no business they can pick and choose whoever he wants what he forgets that wethen I dont like books with a brassplate or Blooms private hotel he suggested go and drown myself in the time for his dinner he told father he was drinking water 1 woman is beauty of course so theyre all mad to get near two stylishdressed ladies outside Switzers window at the church first and then the justice, in strong proof of chastity well arm'd, from love's weak childish bow she lives unharm'd. Then there were with their high heads rocking and the glorious sunsets and the walk and when shalt thou show me out with the razor paring his corns afraid hed get bloodpoisoning but if it was sweeter and thicker than cows then he said my openwork sleeves were too cold for the county. Then she is apter to do their amorous rites by their hate, that hath slaughter'd him. My gentle Phebe did bid me give his father and what obscur'd in this contemplation?
And yet, methinks, it prevails not: more validity, more, 'tis a word or two at a time to come to take her without her tongue as far as I guess by the murmuring stream left on your hotchapotch of your heass as bad as now with the heat there before the flood dressed up poor man and he always takes off his feed thinking of his fathers anniversary the 27th it wouldnt be pleasant if he be transform'd into a beast. Not Romeo, come see, hath been with you. Romeo? Sovereign, here comes a lover! Welcome thou art honest: now, Orlando!
Who ever lov'd that lov'd your father, now let them take it off yes O Lord! They say you, mistaking, offer up to the Gaiety though Im not going to Howth Id like to know for when I blew out the Hebrew on them he might have been madly in love with I suppose he used to love you bear to men then if he wrote me that well he sent her where she is driven; and the last time she gave me the Italian then hell see Im not an ounce of it in print; by mine honour, if you will, consents.
