every once in a while I remember that the most easily accessible source of the full english-translated haikyuu pilot chapter (chapter 0) is apparently a post I made on here almost a decade ago

āœØ My BSD hot takes/unpopular opinions āœØ:
1. Identifying BSD characters as Queer, is not problematic. STOP being so Heteronormative. Gay characters are not gonna kill you.
If I see another "BuT tHe ChArAcTeRs nEvEr SaId tHeY aRe GaY" I would bomb you šŸ’£/j
2. Skk/SSKK/Fyolai/other popular ships, exist because people like it. If you don't ship them, don't engage with their content. Not all shippers act crazy and toxic. Stop blaming everything on shippers.
3. Atsushi/Kyouka is problematic, stop justifying it with "only 4 year age gap". Kyouka is a CHILD, ship her with Kenji if you want. Atsushi, like a normal 18 year old would never look at a highschool freshman and date her. Even if they date in the future, he knew her when she was younger and they had a sibling like dynamic. Lucy is a way better love interest to Atsushi (Don't know if this is an unpopular opinion tho, but I saw some people justifying it šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜)
4. DAZAI IS NOT EVIL. HE IS FAR FROM EVIL. He is, despite being super popular and the face of BSD, the most mischaracterized and villified character. Morally grey characters exist??!!!
5. Mori is a way worse person than Dazai ever was.
6. PM members get a free pass for any heinous crime they commit by being hot or babygirl-ified (still love them tho, we do not often discuss how bad their actions have been, you can like criminals and acknowledge they are criminals in fiction. I would add DoA to this too, but it's worse with the PM)
7. Akutagawa's abuse of Kyouka shouldn't be forgotten just because Dazai abused Akutagawa.
8. Mori emotionally manipulated and abused Dazai when he was a teen. Just because it wasn't physical, doesn't mean it was nothing.
9. Atsushi is NOT a soft boy, he is way bitter, salty and sarcastic than we give him credit
10. Poe is important to Ranpo and their friendship/relationship is wholesome as hell
11. Ranpo and Yosano's friendship is way better than them being in a relationship in the future
12. FukuFuku is better than Fukumori (imo!!!!)
13. Buying real authors work after watching BSD is actually a really good thing, since more Gen z kids (or other people) will read classics
14. There are layers to Atsushi and Akutagawa relationship/rivalry, and they have the MOST important relationship (not meaning romantic, just in general) in the entire canon.
15. Kunikida and Yosano could be a power couple
16. Fyodor is not a great villain (yet)
17. Nikolai CARRIES the DoA
18. Sigma shouldn't be in the ADA, he needs a happy home, family and some time to adjust to normal life
19. Q and Elise are both underused characters and could become a great dynamic
20. Ango deserves more love, the amount of pressure and stress he deals with is INSANE
21. It's OKAY if everyone joins the fandom for Dazai or skk (I did at first too!!)
22. Higuchi is annoying as hell. I do not get her hype, I like her but not as much as most people (just personal opinion, do not flame me šŸ˜)
23. Everyone in The Guild is forgettable or boring (except Fitzgerald, Poe and Lucy. I like Louisa, but I forget her all the time)
24. Hetero ships are just not that great/interesting in BSD to me šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø (except maybe AtsuLucy or rare pairs) and female characters are not best utilised, I wish they play more major roles (can't wait for Agatha to arrive!!)
25. Some fan theories/arts get the story better than "canon" stuff at times. Fanon is NOT always the worst (sometimes enjoyable when the canon gets too dark or sad)
26. Toxic ships are okay in fiction as long as they are legal. Humans like toxic things, we consume it like junk food šŸ’…šŸ»
(These are all personal opinions of mine and do not matter. Feel free to disagree. But, do not hate or be toxic!!!! šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡šŸ˜‡)
(PS: I compiled all these because of posts I have seen in, Reddit, Pinterest, Twitter and sometimes Tiktok. These aren't really abt you Tumblr folks. I meant to post this on reddit but did not have the courage or mental strength lol)

How did so many Kamala supporters end up in the Joe Biden camp...
Well (my opinion only follows lol), I think first and foremost a lot of Kamala supporters were highly pragmatic as much as they were highly passionate. And when you have that much passion for a candidate, when they leave the race, you kinda just wanna settle on who can win and stop caring. Biden has long been the mainĀ ā€œdefaultā€ candidate in this race. I invested so much money, time and effort to the Kamala campaign, and this was a really hard thing for me to do at this stage in my life. I just didnā€™t have it in me to do that for anyone else. I canā€™t speak for other Kamala folks, but this is a shared experience between myself and many in my friend group. Weā€™re tired. Just plain tired.
Bridges were burned. Her treatment by several other campaigns and supporters of those campaigns definitely led to frayed relations between KHive and other support groups (a lot of Gillibrand and Beto supporters felt this too). Youā€™re a lot less likely to consider a candidate if either the candidate made (or was highly perceived to have made) a slight against your candidate. There must be some kind of multiplier to that effect when you throw in toxic supporters, because for sure I know myself and many just didnā€™t feel like there was space for us in most of the other campaigns. The shift to Biden I think demonstrates this phenomenon greatly, and how the internet and media are playing a larger role than ever in campaigns. At the start of this primary, most Kamala supporters listed Warren as their second choice candidate. Some, though not all, Warren supporters took this data to mean once Kamala left that most of her supporters would swing to Warren, giving her a decisive edge. Well, so many folks propagated things like theĀ ā€œKamala is a copā€ meme orĀ ā€œofficer down,ā€ that you start to see large segments of Kamalaā€™s support group stay out of supporting a new candidate or move to candidates like Pete and Biden (or Julian initially). And this is WITHOUT talking about the stuff coming out of the Bernie camp. Future campaigns will definitely need to find a way to try to create less-toxic online cultures. In any case, the fact that Biden supporters did not really contribute so much to this has probably helped him. Though we could also discuss that since, at least in the past, Bidenā€™s supporters werenā€™t heavily present online. I mean, I still come across reddit/tumblr/twitter threads of people claiming to haveĀ ā€œnever met a Biden supporter.ā€ Given that Kamalaā€™s support base also tended toward younger folks who are online, this kinda thing prolly didnā€™t help attract Kamala supporters to X-candidate. Particularly Bernie. In addition, Biden shares several key bases of support with Kamala, particularly in the black community. Iā€™m sure people more interested in demographic analysis of political groups would have more to say about this than me, but a shared base makes it easier. And when you already know a lot of Biden/X-candidate supporters in your actual friend/family circle, it makes it easier. I know this helped me at least.Ā
I think KHive recognized pretty early on what a gigantic threat Bernie is to the Party and to our chances at taking down Trump, and werenā€™t really invested too much in shopping around (pragmatic). Moreover, as she dropped out, Biden began to embrace a lot of policies that were more progressive which made the jump easier. Then, to bring back Sanders, for me at least thereā€™s something satisfying in the idea of Sanders losing to Biden haha. But to speak about Biden, in the moments immediately after Kamala left the race, he played his cards right. He made the moment about HER and HER supporters, not about him. Bidenā€™s supporters, in my experience, were also very empathetic and the least pushy of the other groups. Maybe because theyā€™re more mellow people in general or maybe because most of the Biden folks I knew initially were in real-life and not online, where the rhetoric can be charged and extreme. In any case, Biden has really been good at making alliances, appealing to disenchanted people, and his status asĀ ā€œdefaultā€ is just advantageous, regardless of who you may have come into this thing supporting. As for Policy, I think his policy shifts demonstrate that he is a serious candidate, that he is a classic representative-style politician that listens to what he hears from his base, and has adapted his platform. As such, heā€™s been rewarded for that. I think too, Biden supporters are pretty candid about what they also dislike in their candidate, which is refreshing when we are now living in what feels like an all-or-nothing type political drama.Ā
Long story short: Biden was a decent guy for the most part to Kamala and his supporters were as well; People are/were already tired of this primary and bridges were burned; he swung a lot further left than a lot of folks give him credit for so at least on policy that made things easier for Kamala folks; To that point, Kamala supporters are much more willing to embrace an incrementalist approach compared to the other left-wing candidatesā€™ supporters; the specter of a Sanders win has kinda touched every aspect of this primary and makes it hard to really think about voting for anyone else -- regardless of who you initially support(ed).Ā
So idk. I think itā€™s more complicated than this, but I donā€™t wanna type anymore ha. I will say though that this shift is something i hope is studied after this election is all over with. I think we may very well be living in a new era when it comes to these high-level campaigns and how they operate. One thing is for sure, supporters of candidates can have an outsized influence both positive and negative for their candidates, and I think Kamala was simply one of the first candidates to leave the race with a sizable support base, and that this sizable base kind of defied earlier polling is really important and interesting i think.Ā
