It may be Sunday but it's time for....
TAG GAME TUESDAY 😂
Thank you for tagging me Nosho @creepkinginc Evie @energievie Coralie @shinygalaxyperson Paola @mishervellous Melodie @sirrudo Molly @deathclassic Myn @vintagelacerosette Vey @look-i-love-u Lyds @ardent-fox Becki @francesrose3 🥰🧡
name:

age: I can't remember and I'd have to do maths to figure it out and I've done enough maths for one day so let's just say... in the middle-y bit 😁
where are you from originally? here 😁
your go-to coffee, tea, or soda of choice: water 😁 though I recently had a rose and lemon lemonade and it was insanely delicious 🤤
your comfort film: Call Me By Your Name / The Princess Bride 🥰
how many siblings do you have? My nieces are like sisters to me because we were raised together. Their mother, my aunt, and my mother would bring us all to school in the morning and people used to think we all formed one family with two mothers 😁
if you could take a vacation anywhere, where would it be? 😁😁😁
Tumblr media
Mentally I am here always 😌
last song you listened to: it's hot here so naturally Mika's Ice Cream. We're ignoring the fact that he said it was about rimming his boyfriend.
do you believe in aliens? Not the green guys from the movies 😆 but there's probably something boring out there like bacteria.
what about ghosts? If ghosts were real I think we would be overrun by them 😆 I also think that companies would've monetized the shit out of them and we'd all know about them like we know about dolphins being real. Then again, there's plenty of stuff still being discovered about our little planet so who knows 😁 for my own peace of mind I choose not to believe in them 😌
it’s 2am. you can’t sleep. you get up to get a snack. what is it? I've never gone for a snack at night before... but probably chocolate 😁
and finally, share something you’ve done/made recently that you’re proud of: I FINISHED THE NEXT CHAPTER OF AFRICA!!!!!! 🥳 and I went on holiday recently and sat by the beach. It was epic. A guy who looked just like Mickey came out of the sea, whipped his hair back and strutted up the beach in his tiny swimming trunks, water dripping from his muscles. I got out a notebook and wrote out a ficlet about Mickey the lifeguard and Ian the swimmer. I gotta type that out and post it.
Also I got myself this awesome card!! There are many others, you can find them by searching for "message in a bottle 3D pop up cards", all of them are epic!

you could hear a banging. your head was smushed into the pillows and you were still half asleep. it took you a minute to come to and realise that the banging was knocking on your bedroom door. you groaned a sleepy “come in.”
ellie pushed the door open with two coffees in hand and came to sit on the end of your bed.
“morning.”
you mumbled a “morning” back as you rubbed your eyes and slowly sat up. you felt the duvet slip down and quickly remembered you went to bed only wearing panties last night.
“fuck,” your eyes widened and your hand slapped down on your chest to hold the covers in place, an embarrassed blush crept onto your cheeks.
“sorry, i didn’t see anything,” ellie laughed, handing you a coffee and chucking you a hoodie that was lying on the floor next to her feet.
“thanks,” you hugged the hot cup after pulling the hoodie on. you felt pretty hungover and dreaded to think what you looked like.
“why are you so chirpy this morning?”
“i’m not as much of a lightweight as you,” ellie smirked. you playfully rolled your eyes at her before checking your phone.
kate 🩵
8:39am
morning babe, how was your night? xx
you
9:02am
really fun thanks, did you wanna look at california plans today? xx
kate🩵
9:03am
aw good. yes, i can come over later xx
you
9:03am
come over whenever xx
you locked your phone and looked up to see ellie looking at you. she quickly averted her gaze to her hands holding the mug and started fidgeting with her silver rings. your eyes darted down to look at them too.
“what’re you doing today?”
“kate’s coming over later, we’re gonna look at booking a beach holiday in california somewhere,” you smiled, excited at the idea of lounging on a warm beach day in, day out.
“oh, nice. first holiday together?”
“yeah, pretty exciting.”
“yeah, very,” ellie half smiled, still playing with her rings. “how is she anyway? i haven’t seen her in ages.”
“she’s good, she works a lot so that’s probably why, but yeah good.”
there was a small pause before you spoke again.
“what about you? you been seeing anyone lately?”
her eyes snapped up to yours, smirking. “no, you’d know if i was.”
“i don’t know, you might have some secret double life i don’t know about.”
“actually yeah, it’s probably about time i told you,” she dramatically took in a breath, “i’ve been in a secret relationship with hayley williams for the past 6 years.”
“oh?”
“we’re actually married. that’s why we have the same last name.”
“i’m offended you didn’t invite me to the wedding.”
“it had to be private for…” she laughed and stammered, “top secret…security reasons?”
“too bad, i wish i was there to object.”
she leaned her body forward a bit. “what? for me?”
“no, for hayley williams you idiot.”
“right, right. makes sense,” her voice trailed off before she finally said, “ok, i better go. the band were really good last night.”
“yeah they were great! hopefully they’ll be there again,” you smiled up at her as she stood up to leave.
˚ · • . ° .
it was later in the day and you were sat on the sofa, feet propped up on the coffee table whilst kate sat next to you with her laptop open, browsing places to stay.
“ooh look at this one,” she said, turning her laptop towards you.
“oh my god it’s so beautiful, but probably too expensive for me.”
“well, we want to go somewhere nice though.”
“i know, of course, but something like this is just a bit too much out of my budget,” you said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
you knew kate made more money that you and was naturally more money orientated. of course, you were ambitious and cared about that sort of thing too, but you were more of a ‘rather be poor and happy than rich and sad’ person. kate on the other hand, was the opposite. you heard her sigh next to you and move her laptop back to keep scrolling.
“what?”
“nothing.”
“tell me,” you pried.
“it’s.. ah, it’s just that when i first brought up going to california you were so excited and now we’re actually looking at booking it, you keep saying no to things.”
you were a bit taken back. you didn’t think you were being negative about anything, you just genuinely couldn’t afford any of the options kate put in front of you. they were amazing but to put it bluntly, expensive as fuck. besides, anytime you put forward a suggestion, she found something wrong with it. it’s too far from town (meaning it was a 15 minute walk instead of 5), the beach looks boring, there’s not enough restaurants. you didn’t want to say anything, but it was starting to piss you off.
“i am excited. it’s just,” you sighed, “i just thought it mattered more that we had fun together, not having the fanciest hotel or whatever.”
“we’ll have fun, but i don’t want to go and stay in some shitty place.”
“i never said we should? we can still find a nice place.”
“then why do you keep saying no?”
“because i don’t have a bottomless pit of money?”
both your tones had shifted to annoyance. your body language had become more rigid and your brows were slightly furrowed.
“ok whatever,” kate sighed again, going back to her laptop, turning the screen as if she didn’t care if you could see it or not.
“no, sorry, why are you being weird with me?”
“i’m not being weird.”
you almost wanted to laugh.
“but, you are? you get mad at me for not having enough money and then just say ‘whatever,’ how does that help anything?”
she shut her laptop and turned to you.
“i don’t know what you want me to say, but maybe you need to start taking better care of your money or something so we can do things like this.”
“sorry, are you my fucking mother or something? i’m fine with money. sure, i have to save and budget and all that but who the fuck doesn’t?”
“i’m not trying to tell you what to do i’m just saying that it’s not a bad idea to think about earning more. it’s good to be ambitious, babe, and i know what you do doesn’t earn very much.”
she tried to put a hand on your knee but you shot up to your feet, starting to feel overwhelmed by how quickly this conversation had gone downhill.
“kate, you are literally telling me what to do. am i supposed to just sack my job in and do something i don’t care about just so that i can have more money?”
she looked up at you, a perplexed expression across her face. “why wouldn’t you want to get a bigger income?”
“it’s not tha–oh my god,” you felt like you needed to pace, adrenaline taking over you. “not everybody needs to be earning the biggest wage they possibly can, ok? don’t get me wrong, money is nice, i get that and i get that it’s very important to you, but i could never sacrifice my happiness for it, that’s just not me. i love what i do and you know that so don’t start trying to make me feel like it’s not good enough for you all of a sudden.”
she was silent for a moment, processing your rant. she looked away from you and you looked at her, trying to catch her eye again, anxiously waiting for her to say something.
“i gotta go.” she started shoving her laptop in her bag and stood up.
“what?”
“i think we need to take a minute before we look at this again, ok?”
you felt stupid. and you hated the fact that this made you feel stupid.
“ok,” you mumbled.
you stood there, dumbfounded. this was supposed to be a fun thing for you both to do together and before you’d even reached step one it had gone wrong. you understood that kate was a person who liked to climb the ladder and earn as much as she could and you were happy if that’s how she wanted to live her life. however, she couldn’t seem to accept the fact that you’re not like that. you enjoyed your job and admittedly, you weren’t anything close to rich but who cares? you enjoyed your life and that’s all that matters.
instead of sitting around feeling crap about yourself you decided to call ellie. it didn’t take long for her to pick up.
“hey.”
“hey.”
“everything alright?”
“yeah yeah, i just, um, what are you doing?”
“you ok? you sound upset.”
“no no, i’m fine els, i just…” you felt silly that you were nearly in tears right now but you couldn’t help it.
“are you at home? want me to come over?”
“only if you’re not busy.”
“i’ll be there in 10,” she practically cut you off.
“oh, ok. see you in a bit. thank you.”
“see you in a bit.” and she hung up.
you let out a shaky breath before deciding to wash your face and freshen up before ellie got to yours, not wanting to end up sobbing in front of her. sure enough, she was at your place in 10 minutes and when you opened the door she gave you a sympathetic look and pulled you in for a hug.
“what wrong?”
“it’s stupid.” your voice was muffled by her shoulder.
“i’m sure it’s not,” she said, pulling away and dragging you to sit down. you both sat facing each other, sideways on the sofa, one leg bent and the other hanging of the edge. she looked at you, waiting for you to speak.
“kate and i got into a fight about money and it just really pissed me off.”
“what did she say?”
“she was saying i need to be better with money and that i should earn more and all this bullshit. we were trying to book a hotel and we just couldn’t agree on anything so she just decided to leave and fuck,” you groaned, “it just wound me up.”
ellie listened intently, pausing before speaking to let you finish.
“what a fucking asshole.”
“ellie!” you slapped her leg lightly, trying not to smile. she laughed.
“what? it’s true. that’s a fucked up thing to say.”
“yeah,” your voice was quiet. she ran a hand through her hair.
“i mean who the fuck cares where you stay, more important to just be together, you know?”
“that’s what i said.”
you looked at her and you were both silent for a moment, the overwhelming cloud you felt before starting to evaporate.
“so, what are you gonna do?”
“i don’t know,” you sighed, “we’ll still do it, it was just a stupid fight but i guess we’ll have to compromise.”
ellie just nodded, puffing out her cheeks slightly.
“i hope i didn’t drag you away from anything.”
“aw no,” she waved her hand in dismissal, “was just at jesse’s.”
“no, ellie, i said don’t bother if you’re busy!”
“it’s fine, honestly. he understands and i didn’t want you to be upset.”
“you’re so sweet.”
“am not.”
“you so are.”
“i’m not sweet.” she hoped you couldn’t see her cheeks flushing pink. you could.
“you’re the sweetest to me.”
“ok, yeah, i mean,” she stumbled over her words, “i can be, but only for you.”
“see?” you grinned, putting your hands either side of her face and squeezing slightly. a breath got caught in her throat at you touching her. you let your hands fall down, landing on her knees.
“so,” you started, “you wanna make me feel better by letting me beat you at mario kart?”
˚ · • . ° .
two hours had passed of you and ellie sat on your floor, backs against the sofa, playing video games. kate hadn’t messaged or called. you hadn’t either, but honestly, you didn’t really know what to say. you were still a bit annoyed and wished she would apologise before you just let it slide. your mood had definitely improved though by having ellie around. you were scrolling through your phone whilst ellie was in the bathroom when a notification popped up from your groupchat with her and dina.
dina
4:47pm

4:48pm

i’ll ask kate later
ellie
4:49pm
the perfect slasher movie location
sounds cool i’m in
dina
4:49pm
good! i’ll let you know more soon
ellie then emerged from the bathroom and sat back beside you. you looked at her like a kid in a sweet shop.
“how fucking cool is that!”
“i know, gonna be fun. typical that i’m fifth wheeling though,” she joked.
“oh you won’t be, dina and freya aren’t like that and me and kate are–“ you stopped yourself, “well, let’s see if she even comes.”
˚ · • . ° .
she didn’t. kate was working. which was fine, you thought. it was short notice and things were still awkward between you two. you felt terrible for it but you were kind of glad that it was just going to be the four of you. that way, considering everything recently, you knew it would be fun and stress free.
you could also do with a break from the strain of booking this california trip. in the end, you had booked a place. it was still too expensive for you really but you were getting tired of going back and forth, plus a compromise of some kind needed to be made and you were trying to be positive about it and not fuck it up further. after all, you were still looking forward to going away with your girlfriend for the first time and assumed that this dispute would soon blow over.
you lugged your bags out of the boot of freya’s car and followed everyone up to the front door of the cabin. you were surrounded by a huge lake, a dense forest and fields that spread themselves out for miles. was it the perfect location for a horror? yes it was, but you were going to have the best time here, you could tell.
“this is so fucking cool,” ellie said.
“thanks, it’s my sister’s and her husband’s technically but they let me use it a lot,” freya said.
she was a sweet girl, really kind and easy to get on with. dina had only been dating her for about 3 months but they were really cute together.
“thank you for inviting us,” you said.
“oh no problem, i’m glad you could make it.”
as freya held the door open for you all to walk through, she asked if you wanted her to give you a tour and show you where your rooms would be. thinking it was easiest to do that first you said yes.
the cabin was nothing short of stunning with its wooden beamed ceilings and open fire place. it also had a fire pit outside near the lake which you hoped you’d get to use. after being shown the bedrooms you dumped your stuff in yours. ellie’s was opposite and dina and freya were in the master bedroom a bit further down the hall. you sent kate a quick message to say you’d arrived safely and started unpacking things like your face wash and toothbrush. you didn’t bother unpacking your clothes seeing as you were only here for two nights. you heard talking downstairs so left your room to join them.
“what did you guys wanna do first?” freya asked you all.
“i really want to go swimming in the lake,” dina suggested, “if you guys are up for that.”
“yeah sounds fun.” you looked at ellie.
“yeah sure.”
you went back upstairs to change into a bikini and also grabbed a towel, some shorts and a baggy t-shirt to throw on after. joining the others downstairs, dina and freya already nearly out the door, you couldn’t help but look at ellie. she was wearing loose shorts and a sports bra style bikini top.
“you’ve got a new tattoo,” you said, touching her upper arm softly as you looked at it.
“got it a couple months ago,” she watched your face.
“you’re so secretive.”
she just laughed and shrugged, muttering “come on,” before holding the door open for you.
it was late in the afternoon and the sun was still warm but not too hot, and you still had a couple hours left of daylight.
shrieks met your ears as dina and freya jumped off the edge of the little wooden platform into the water. you put your stuff down on a chair round the fire pit, where they’d put theirs and ran excitedly to the edge.
“you jumping in?” you said, turning to ellie.
“maybe.”
“if you don’t, i’ll push you,” you teased, grabbing her shoulders. she laughed and her hands flew to yours, scrambling to grab them to prevent you from pushing her off the edge.
“don’t you fucking dare.”
“i will.”
“i know you will.” her body twisted trying to grab your wrists, fighting against you pushing. she tried to ignore how your boobs pressed into her. before you knew it, you were falling and crashing into the cool water. you came back up, flapping your arms and rubbing water out of your eyes screaming, “ellie!”
she was still standing on the edge, hand over her mouth, doubling over in laughter.
“i’m sorry!”
“no, you’re not.”
“no, i’m not.”
you could hear dina and freya laughing in the background which made you turn. a huge splash of water suddenly came over your head as ellie jumped in.
“fucking hell, are you trying to drown me?”
“yes.”
“charming.”
you could see dina and freya kissing so you made an ‘oop’ face at ellie and you both laughed. the sun was really bringing out her freckles. she’d always get weird if you ever called her pretty, but it was only the truth. she was pretty, and you’d always thought so.
the four of you swam around leisurely, talking about this and that for a while before deciding to get out. it was starting to get dark so freya turned on the outdoor fairy lights that were draped in a tree near the fire pit.
you all took turns using the downstairs shower and grabbed a couple of beers before sitting around the fire you had started.
“so, anyone got any ghost stories to tell?” dina joked.
˚ · • . ° .
you all talked for what felt like forever, laughing until your stomachs ached. the conversation now had seemed to split off though into you and ellie, whilst dina and freya giggled and blushed, dina’s legs thrown over freya’s lap.
“ok well… we’re gonna go to bed,” dina said, grabbing freya’s hand. you could see them smiling into kisses as they reached the front door.
“oh! young love,” you declared jokingly and ellie laughed.
“you wish kate was here?” she asked.
you paused, thinking.
“things are still a bit awkward between us, is it bad that i’m kind of glad she isn’t?”
you toyed nervously with the hair tie on your wrist. ellie shifted in her seat, mouth moving as if to speak but stopping herself, thinking of something better to say.
“if you’re happy then i don’t think it’s a bad thing.”
you smiled at her. her eyes bore into you and she almost looked nervous, her hands fidgeting with her rings.
“i am happy right now,” you voiced.
“good.”
there was a moment of peaceful silence between you before you suddenly jumped up and grabbed her hand. she looked up at you, waiting.
“look at the stars with me? seeing as we’re here.”
her eyes softened, a doting smile covering her face as you both laid down on the ground, staring up at the dark night sky.
“it’s beautiful,” you whispered.
“it is.”
“we should go.”
“where? to space?”
“no, to starbucks,” you quipped, “yes to space!”
she turned her head to look at you, looking at the sky. she admired the glint in your eye and the way your cheeks looked when you smiled. her voice was hushed and soft.
“i’ll take you.”
you turned your head to look at her.
“how will we get there?”
“i’ll build us a spaceship.”
“oh with your excellent handyman skills?”
“yeah,” she laughed, “with my excellent handyman skills.”
“can it have a mirrorball inside? ooh and a record player and–and a mini bar.”
she laughed at your ridiculous requests for this hypothetical spaceship.
“it can have whatever you want.”
she bit her lip. your smiles faded as you looked at each other, taking in each other’s features under the dim moonlight. maybe that one beer had hit you too hard or maybe it was just the atmosphere of being at a lakeside cabin, but you couldn’t ignore the way your stomach flipped as ellie looked at you.
“well,” your voice accidentally came out a bit shaky, “it sounds almost too good to be true.”
she propped herself up on her forearm, now looking down at you as she laid on her side.
“does it?”
you slowly nodded your head and your eyes must have darted between her eyes and her lips because she leaned in, as if to test what you would do.
you shocked yourself when you lifted your head slightly, causing your noses to graze each other. your lips then ghosted over each other for a moment, both unsure if you should keep going. your brain felt foggy and you couldn’t think about anything else but her.
then, just as you thought you must have blacked out and were dreaming, she pressed a soft kiss to your lips and your body melted into the ground. it was sweet and delicate. her hand came up to hold the side of your face and yours held onto her arm. everything felt right and your earlier statement still held it’s truth, you were so happy but—
“oh my god,” you freaked, gripping her shoulder. not to push her completely away, just enough to stop the kiss.
“what am i doing?” you brought your other hand to your lips, touching them.
“fuck, i’m sorry,” ellie sighed and she moved off of you.
“no, i’m sorry. i’m the one with–“ you quickly sat up, feeling a wave of anxious nausea.
“i’m the one with a girlfriend.”
she sat up next to you, arms resting on her bent knees.
your brain was going a million miles per hour trying to process everything. one, you had just kissed your best friend, two, you had just cheated on your girlfriend and three, you had just fucking kissed your best friend! ellie! the girl you’d been close to for years and nothing had ever happened. the girl who knew you better than anyone else, warts and all. the girl who a part of you wished was still kissing you.
“let’s just forget it happened,” she sounded defeated but she was probably right.
“yeah, yeah ok,” you agreed, trying to convince yourself that this was fine, “maybe we should just go to bed.”
she nodded and you both stood up, brushing some grass off of your ass before you both slumped towards the cabin.
“after you,” she mumbled, opening the front door. you whispered a thanks before you both ascended the stairs, trying to be quiet so you didn’t disturb dina and freya. you reached your doors, which were directly opposite each other. you looked at each other for a moment before you awkwardly poked her in the arm.
“ok then… night, ellie.”
you turned to open your door but suddenly felt a hand grip your arm. the pull forced you to spin around to face her, her other hand catching your waist and pinning your body to hers.
her hasty lips caught yours in another kiss, your hands flew to her hair and shoulders. this kiss was a far cry from the sweet one you shared outside. it was hungry and frantic.
you broke for air, foreheads pressed together, hands still holding each other close.
“let’s not think about it,” she said breathlessly. you couldn’t think anyway. you just nodded your head and pulled her into another open mouthed kiss.
she felt for your bedroom door handle behind you and pushed you into the room, immediately collapsing on the bed. the room was only illuminated by the moonlight coming in through the window. her body weight pressed into you as she deepened the kiss.
eagerly, she started unzipping your shorts making you buck your hips up. she shoved them back down with her hand forcefully and resumed pulling your shorts off. you blushed in embarrassment at how wet you already were and her finger tips fluttered at the waistband of your underwear.
“can i touch you?” she asked, her voice low.
“please.”
she wasted no time in bringing a finger down to press on your clothed clit. you moaned loudly, suddenly slapping a hand over your mouth.
“you gotta be quiet, baby.”
you frantically nodded, desperate for her to continue. she could feel the wet patch you had made and smirked to herself, pulling your underwear to the side and glided her middle finger through your slick folds.
“so fucking wet already,” she groaned. her finger collected your wetness before making slow, barely there circles on your clit.
“who is that for?” fuck you, you thought.
“y-you, ellie.”
her touch on your clit was so light it was making your body jolt at the sensitivity. your lips were parted and hers were ghosting over them, refusing any attempts you made at chasing a kiss.
she suddenly slid two fingers deep into you, restricting your moan with a hard, sloppy kiss. she moved them in and out a few times before curling them and hitting that spot over and over.
you whimpered when you felt her hand suddenly disappear but all she was doing was impatiently yanking your underwear off, muttering a “fuck” under her breath, before resuming her relentless pace.
she kissed you again to keep you quiet, as she quickly pulled her fingers out to rub circles on your clit and giving it a few taps before slipping them back inside.
your hands didn’t know what to do with themselves so with her free hand she grabbed one of your wrists and pinned it against the bed next to your head, using that along with her knees to hold herself up.
“oh fuck,” you cried.
“shh shh shh, i got you.”
your head was digging so hard into the pillow and you could feel yourself about to come. ellie could too by the way you clenched tightly around her.
“you gonna come, baby?”
you stumbled out a “yes” and lifted your head, begging for a messy kiss whilst she fucked you through your orgasm.
when you let out a soft sigh and your body relaxed, she kissed you on the forehead and slowly pulled her fingers out.
you looked up at her, feeling exhausted and in awe of the sight above you. you honestly felt drunk, even though you weren’t. she lifted her cum coated fingers up near your face and looked at them, not being able to decide whether she wanted to put them in her mouth or yours. you answered for her by taking her hand and swirling your tongue around her fingertips, before sucking them in completely.
“fuck,” her voice was quiet and husky, intoxicated by the way your pretty lips wrapped around her fingers. your eyes looking up at her at the same time nearly made her come in her boxers.
she was so mesmerised by you she didn’t even realise at first that you were sitting up, letting her fingers go with a pop, and shifting so that you were on top of her.
once her back hit the bed her hands went to your hips as you straddled her lap.
you pulled your t-shirt off, leaving you completely naked whilst she was still fully clothed. she practically gulped at the sight of your tits now on full display, a giddy smirk creeping onto her face. you trailed your hand down to the neckline of her t-shirt and tugged it. she got the message and took it off, throwing it across the room, not allowing her eyes to leave you for a second. your fingers traced over her nipple and down her stomach for a second making her flinch. you smiled to yourself and leant down to kiss her. her hands caressed your hips as you left kisses down her neck and then her stomach.
once you reached the waistband of her shorts you paused and looked up at her.
“can i?”
she nodded and you pulled her shorts and boxers down in one go, nestling yourself between her legs. you pushed her legs apart and licked a line up her cunt. she was also completely soaking, your tongue collecting the sweet taste when you started swirling it around her clit.
she grunted, gripping your hair in one hand. you worked your tongue around until she was basically shoving your head deeper into her.
“you taste so fucking good.”
she couldn’t help but grind herself against your tongue. but then you slipped a finger in and she was gone.
“oh god.” her voice was quiet and shaky.
you didn’t move your finger in and out, just curled and flicked it slowly whilst you continued assaulting her clit. soon enough she was gripping your hair tighter and coming on your tongue. she quickly pulled you up by your hair and slammed you into a kiss.
her hands grabbed your waist and she turned you both and pinned you to the bed again. she supported her weight on her forearms and looked down at you. you both stared at each other for a moment, slightly panting before you both burst out laughing.
she quickly put a finger on your lips and your hands flapped trying to cover her mouth as you both shushed each other.
she rolled off of you and laid on her back. you both slowly turned your heads to each other, again trying to stifle a laugh.
“what the fuck have we done?”

As much as he wants to chase after you, he can’t. Katniss would kill you and he can’t abandon the plan, not until he can pass off babysitting duty to Johanna.
You spent the evening wandering the jungle, unnerved by every little noise you heard. After you left, you circled back the way you had originally come, hoping the others would carry on in the other direction.
Your arm was still bleeding but you didn’t care. It’s not like any sponsors were lining up to send you stuff. You’ll have to kill a career and steal their supplies using the only weapon you have, the arrow that landed in your arm.
A few hours after dark, the faces of the fallen appear in the sky. None of your allies are on the list so you don’t really care. It’s not like you knew these people.
You opt to go deeper into the jungle, opposite of where Finnick must be. This whole place is starting to look the same, though, and it’s hard to get your bearings.
Hours later, a gong rings twelve times. You don’t have time to ask yourself what it means as the hairs on your body stand up and a large blast of electricity shoots down mere yards away from you.
Lightning.
You have to move. Now. Your ears hurt and panic rises in your throat. They’re here to kill you. You’re gonna die.
Running, you collide with someone, another tribute. They don’t even have time to scream before your arrow is through their neck and their cannon is sounding. Move. Now.
You run until you can’t anymore, scared that something is chasing you. The game makers must have caused the lightning to force you and the other tribute closer together.
There were other canons throughout the night, but you paid no attention to them. You sat under a tree, hugging your knees, trying to ignore the burning in your dry throat and the pain in your arm. Of course Katniss had to shoot your dominant arm.
When the day is bright enough to illuminate your section of the jungle, you decide to head back towards where the lightning was. If another tribute was over there then there may be some food or water close by. Maybe they even had sponsors.
The sun is high in the sky by the time you make it back to where the fight occurred. There’s no trace of it but you know the spot. Your hair stands on edge again and you panic, knowing exactly what this means. The lightning strikes and you bolt, running from whoever must be near.
They’re going to kill you. You’re dead. You need to run faster.
You run downhill, towards what you think is the lake. Despite not being allowed in the ocean for the past five years, you’re probably still the second best swimmer in the arena behind Finnick. If you could lure whoever is chasing you into the water then you could drown them.
Your legs barely make it to the beach, completely drained from your lack of sleep and sustenance. Whoever was following you must have realized your plan and stopped. Maybe nobody followed you at all.
As you make your way out of the jungle and towards the water, you pause, spotting a large group of people a ways down the beach. It’s Finnick and his alliance. Maybe they would give you food, or shoot you. Honestly, who knows?
They spot you approaching and Katniss aims another arrow at you. You’re still clutching the one she shot you with in your hand, ready to stab anyone who comes near.
“Y/N!” Finnick exclaims as he runs over to you. “I was so worried.”
You look over at the group and back at him, silently asking if they’re ok with you being there. He sighs, realizing that Katniss probably isn’t ok with you being there but he needs you with him anyways. He can’t lose you.
“Have you eaten?” he asks. You shake your head no. “We have food and water. Oh! And some first aid stuff for your arm. Katniss is sorry by the way.”
“Skin?” you ask him. Noticing the scabs on his body and the cuts on his face.
“We got caught in some poisonous fog last night and ended up in a fight with some monkeys this morning,” he explains. “I’m alright. Nobody in our group has died except Blight. He hit the force field last night and they couldn’t revive him.”
You hum in response, catching a whiff of the fish Finnick must have caught for the group to eat. He notices your hunger and gently guides you to sit on the edge of the group close to Johanna and far away from Katniss.
“Glad you could join us feisty!” Johanna chuckles as you sit near her. You give her a shrug as if to say that you’re currently indifferent to your existence. She gets the memo.
“Nuts and Volts,” she states. “Have you met fiesty?”
The man and woman look up at the group.
“Yes,” Beetee replies. “I believe we briefly met Y/N at her victory tour celebration in the capital but it’s been many years. It is nice to see you again Y/N, although I wish it was under better circumstances.”
“You guys aren’t letting her stay with us, right?” Katniss asks and you tense up. They need her for their plan. You’re disposable.
“Back off firebird,” Johanna barks. “She’s sticking with us.”
“She tried to kill me!” Katniss exclaims.
“Because you touched her,” Johanna shouts. You flinch at the volume. “Rule numéro uno is don’t touch fiesty. Plus I thought you were a good fighter, Katnip. You mean to tell me you couldn’t win a fight against her? She hasn’t been outside in over five years. She’s practically harmless!”
“Let’s settle down,” Finnick states, noticing you becoming tense due to the yelling. “Here’s your fish Y/N. I’m gonna go grab you some water.” You smile at him in thanks and begin to eat the fish. The smile fades when you notice Katniss watching you eat like a hawk, so you turn around and sit with your back towards her while you eat.
You need to convince her of Johanna’s words. You’re harmless.

Hi! Outer Banks request here:
Could you please write a JJ Maybank smut where the reader is John B's ex? One day JJ is at a party without the pogues and he's a little bored because there nothing really interesting going on, so he goes to the only familiar face he sees: the reader.
and it's their first time seeing each other after a looong time, and idk maybe the reader has like more confidence than before so they start to drink together (just a bit not enough to get drunk) and they ended up having like giggly sex.
make-outs & mai tai’s — j.m.
summary : you, john b’s ex, happen to run into jj maybank- john b’s best friend. will a couple of mai tai’s cause you to explore your deepest and dirtiest fantasies, or will you remember that “bro-code” does exist? 18+, smut,
pairing : jj maybank x fem!kook!reader
a/n : first of all, i’m horrible at writing summaries 😭 but second and most importantly, thank you so so much for being my first request!!! and my first story!!! i can’t wait to write so much more but for now, i hope you all enjoy this story!!! reblogs are greatly appreciated :) !!
Tumblr media
you were a kook. he was a pogue. you lived on different sides of the island, and were never supposed to be seen with one another. that was until he showed up at your job for the third time asking for your phone number.
if you were to ask anyone, they would say you and john booker routledge were absolutely inseparable from that point on. the two of you were seen around the island almost every day; going on dates, hanging out at the beach, and all that fun stuff.
that was until john b meet sarah cameron, the kook princess. they began to hang out every day, which used to be a plot to get information about the royal merchant, until they shared a passionate kiss on the ferry dock.
although you two ended on good terms, you rarely spoke, which means you didn’t speak to any of the other pogues either; at least not until tonight, where you were going to attend the annual bonfire. you sat at your vanity applying your lip gloss when you got a text from your friend.
savannah: be there in ten!
you grabbed your purse and made your way to the white jeep pulling up to your doorstep.
“ready to get shit-faced tonight?”, savannah asked rolling down the passenger side window while you rolled your eyes and opened the door. “no one is getting shit-faced tonight, especially not you”, you replied buckling your seatbelt as she stepped on the gas.
— ˗ˋ ୨୧ ˊ˗ —
savannah pulled up to the lot as you put your phone in your purse and squinted at the bright fire that burned ahead. “ok so before we get out, some of the girls said that john b was gonna be here”, she said unbuckling her seatbelt and turning towards you.
“okay, whatever i guess”, you said chuckling and pulling your compact out of your bag to check your makeup one final time.
“so you’re not bothered by that? because if you want to leave then we can totally leave, your call.”
“we’re not enemies, savannah. we ended things on good terms, remember?’
“okay then, let’s get our party on!”
you stepped out of the car, scoping the scene, before making your way over to your other friend, emery, by the cooler. she greeted you with a warm hug and a canned mai tai while the three of you got lost in conversation.
meanwhile, on the other side of the fire, the pogues were drinking beer out of plastic cups, looking around at their rather drunk peers.
“ok, i’m gonna be honest and just say that this is seriously lame”, jj maybank announced to the crew and took the last swig of beer out of his cup. “you didn’t have to come you know”, an annoyed kiara replied. “but he is right jb, this is pretty lousy”.
“look, sarah’s here and there’s plenty of beer to last a couple more hours, so why don’t we at least try and have a good time”, john b replied as he threw his arm around kie. jj rolled his eyes and looked towards the cooler, when he saw you holding a can, laughing and talking to some other kooks. he smirked and made his way towards you as he saw your friends running off with topper.
“care for another mai tai, m’lady”, jj asked as you turned around, shocked at the sight in front of you.
“well, well, well”, you smiled, letting a tiny laugh escape from your lips. “if it isn’t jj maybank.”
“in the flesh”, he smiled, extending his arm out to hand you another can. “i noticed you were standing alone; thought i might give you some company”.
“well please accompany me somewhere more quiet”, you said laughing and taking a sip from your new can. jj smirked and said “come on, i have somewhere we can go”.
you took his hand as you guys walked down the lot towards the beach. “so, what brings you to this party”, you asked jj. “because if i’m being totally honest, i did not expect you to be here”.
“why not?”
“i don’t know, i just…i guess i thought that things like these weren’t really your scene.”
“they’re not.”
“then why’d you stick around?” you took another sip.
“i was going to leave” he paused, “but then i saw you.” you glanced over at him and smiled lightly while taking another sip.
“so, how’ve you been? it’s been a while y’know?”
“good, why’d you ask?”
“i don’t know, i’ve just been thinking about you lately.”
“aww, i’ve been on your mind, cupcake?”
you smiled and took another sip of your mai tai. “maybe just a little.”
jj laughed to himself as your feet hit the sand. “just a bit further”. you eventually found a nice spot on the sand and wobbly took a seat.
“woah there, pretty girl, don’t fall now.” you laughed, sipping your mai tai once more and looked him in his eyes. “why do you keep giving me all these nicknames?”, you ask, slurring your words and taking the last sip of your drink.
“do you want me to stop?”
“you could do anything you wanted to me and i would never ask you to stop,” you said with a chuckle as you moved a little closer to him.
“well someone’s feeling a little confident tonight, aren’t you?”
“oh c’mon j, somewhere deep down, i know you know i’ve always had a little thing for you.” and whether it was the mai tais or not, you know what they say: drunk words are sober thoughts. and with that being said, jj swiftly put his hand to your cheek, and pushed your hair behind your ear.
“did you really mean that?,” he caressed your cheek as you leaned in closer to him. “when you said i could do anything i wanted, and you would never ask me to stop?”.
“well we’re here now, aren’t we?”
jj stared at you, and as he opened his mouth to say something, you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. while he was surprised, he moved both of his hands to your hips and kissed you deeper. both of you continued to deepen the kiss as jj took the reigns and laid you down on the sand.
“wait, wait, wait,” you said as jj kept kissing your neck. “what if john b finds out?” jj raised his head and thought for a second, that swift thought followed by: “well that’s not really his problem now, is it?”
“i guess not, pretty boy,” you pulled him down to you buy his collar as you continued kissing each other, more hunger and passion followed by each kiss. you unbuttoned his shirt while he started taking off your shirt. “lift your hips for me, baby,” jj asked, unbuttoning your shorts to follow. if you weren’t already drooling at sight of him, you were positive you were now. you tried to hold back your moans as he swiftly pulled your shorts and panties down your legs, but with how close the two of you were, jj was sure to pick up on every last sound you made.
“oh no, cupcake, don’t hold back now. i want to hear all your pretty sounds,” he kissed a trail down your body as he buried his head in between your thighs. you moaned and tugged his hair as he kissed your heat and licked up and down your sweet spot. your body began to convulse as you felt yourself reaching your release.
“j- fuck, i’m almost there,” you moaned out, not caring about your volume as your back arched in immense pleasure. “let go for me, sweet thing.” your breath hitched as you sucked in a sharp breath, allowing your eyes to roll back in pleasure, finally reaching your climax. you steadied your breathing while jj kissed his way back up to your mouth.
“that was…amazing,” you spoke, regaining your breath. “oh, we’re not done yet, baby girl,” jj replied with a shit-eating grin. “trust me,” you said, reaching down to unbuckle his belt, “i know.” jj let out a small chuckle as he released himself from his boxers, smirking at your reaction to his length. “mmph, i want you so bad,” you moaned out as you kissed him, a string of saliva attached to your lips as you broke free from each other.
“you sure about this, cupcake?,” jj asked, caressing your cheek. you wrapped your arms around his shoulder and kissed him once more. “i’m absolutely positive, j. i need you.” without a second thought, jj slid himself inside you, both of you moaning at the sensational feeling you just shared.
“geez princess, you feel so good,” jj moaned on your neck, his warm breath sending shivers down your spine. you moaned as you gripped on to his shoulders, tapping twice to signal faster pace. as jj sped up, you could feel yourself tighten around him as he twitched inside of you.
“j, i’m close,” you whimpered as you felt him graze your g-spot, eyes rolling back at the glorious feeling.
“i know baby, me too, comin’ up right behind you,” jj replied, slurring his words. he sped up a bit more, making him more and more irresistible to you. your nails scratched down his back as you tried to utter out the words “i’m coming”, but instead were muffled by your pleasurous moans. jj pushed deeper inside you, following close behind. you two shared a breathy kiss while jj started to kiss down your neck, helping you get cleaned up. once the two of you regained composure, you sat up and watched the waves.
“that was… truly something,” you said sighing. jj looked over at you and chuckled, saying “trust me, i know.” you and jj watched the waves for a second before you both looked over to see the bonfire spot emptying.
“looks like everyone’s heading out,” you mentioned, while checking your phone to see two text messages from savannah. “shit, my friends are about to leave, i should probably go”.
“me too, me and the gang have an early surf sesh tomorrow,” jj mentioned while he stood up, extending his hand for you to grab as he pulled you off the sand. you two held hands and walked towards the bonfire, but you stopped him before you got to close to the crowd.
“hey thank you for tonight, i had a lot of fun,” you said swinging your interlocked hands back and forth as jj spotted his friends near the parking lot. you looked down as your feet as you said “it was nice getting to see you again. i probably won’t for a while.” jj laughed as he let go of your hand and grabbed your waist tightly, pulling you towards him. you choked on a breath as you abruptly placed your hands on his shoulders for support, looking deep into his eyes as he caressed your cheek. “you’re a very funny girl, you know that?”, jj questioned as your eyebrows tilted in confusion.
“you think after tonight i’m just gonna let you run off with some other guy?” you tried to tell him off but stuttered as he forced deeper eye contact between you two. “you’re mine now, cupcake. and if i have to see you every single day to remind you, best believe you’ll be seeing a lot of me.” you smirked as jj pulled you in for the last kiss of the night. “you have a good night,” he winked as he walked off towards his friends. you exhaled as you spun on your heels, walking to go find your friends.
little did you know that tonight would be the night you became jj’s girl. forever.

authors note: I’m embarrassed to say how long it took me to write this after I made @fantillisdaylight pick what I wrote next 😭 this one has been in the works for a while now but I’m glad it is finally done and I like how it ended up.
Tumblr media
You didn’t know how you landed up in this position.
It all started in Italy, the time you were meant to have to enjoy the company of your best friend before he went off to the NHL. Adam had been your person for years on end and this was going to be the first time you were going to be away from him. So during this trip you aimed to spend as much time as you could with Adam, but even with that you still needed your time alone. This time it came in the form of tanning as you watched him play football on the beach. The reason you weren’t with him was that you were using the trip to fall out of love with him.
So as Adam stood on the beach laughing at something of one of the local girls said to him, you couldn’t help but notice the shadow that formed above you “you’re gonna ruin my tan!” You whined cutting yourself off as you saw Luca standing above you “sorry sweets.” Luca teased as he sat next to you pushing your feet off of the end of your lounger.
Luca had been the irritating older brother Adam always had. He was only three months older than you but somehow you never found a way to connect with him in the way you connected with Adam “you enjoy watching him try to get laid?” Luca teased causing your cheeks to grow warm as you tucked your hair behind your ears.
The smirk he had on his face hardened as he ran his fingers through his hair “I do not care what happens to him in his bed.” You shook your head making Luca laugh “so the crush you’ve had on him-” he couldn’t finish his sentence as you slapped your hand over his mouth.
Your eyes were wide when you realised he knew “when I remove my hand you will not say a word about it?” The hockey player nodded as he listened to you “I think someone should have noticed with you having this crush since you were six.” Luca pulled back when you went to quiet him again.
You swore it wasn’t nearly as obvious “it’s for the best.” You knew you couldn’t argue with him not when Luca could spot your lying cues from a mile away “you know I would believe what you said if you actually dated a guy.” It was no secret to anyone that all you did was hook up with guys, you opted for it instead as you couldn’t bring yourself to like someone else.
Luca sighed as he placed his hand on your knee “look all I’m saying is that I could help you out.” He offered with a sparkle running across his eyes “unless you plan on getting your brother to like me I don’t see how this is going to work out?” You grumbled pushing your hair out of your face to focus on him.
He swore his mouth when dry “I’ll date you.” The hockey players offer made you furrow your eyebrows “what would be in it for you?” Somehow you were still ready to hear him out like you were out of ideas.
He shrugged thinking about all of the different reasons why “Rutger says Molly has a new boyfriend and I need her to know I’ve moved on.” Luca was spending his first weekend home with the McGroarty family and he really didn’t know how was meant to face his ex with her new happy boyfriend “I’m in.” You nodded holding your hand out for him to shake.
But you pulled it away when you came up with a list of agreements “we need some agreements though.” You pointed out making him sit there in silence “we gotta be used to kissing for anyone to think we are together.” Both of you were more than physical so it was only logical to think that you would be making out with your boyfriend.
It made him smirk as his fingers traced figures on your knee “and how do we feel about casual sex?” Your cheeks turned red matching the shade of your bikini “not gonna have my boy fucking anyone else.” You grumbled making him smile “you should probably know how to kiss me then?” Luca teased making you scoff.
You rolled your eyes as you shook your head “you’re an ass you know that right?” You mumbled leaning forward as you cupped his cheek letting your lips graze his “and your boyfriend now too.” Luca pointed out as he grinned pecking your lips once more.
That was well over seven months ago and somehow you were still in this entire thing with Luca. The Christmas break was originally when you assumed that it would end. It would have been the perfect time for things to end but you actually found yourself no longer in love with Adam, instead with his brother.
Your friends were oblivious to the lies that your relationship lay on, sometimes you even thought that Luca opted to forget about it as well. He seemed so happy with his arm around you at parties as he would whisper those sweet nothings into your ear. But you started feeling like you were going insane, there was never the promise that he was yours.
Because whilst you hoped Luca was falling in love with you too, nothing made that feeling you felt in bed with him palatable. The hockey player would kiss your head and within an instant you were feeling like the only girl in the world, or at least that was how you felt until you were back in your dorm alone. Reminded of the fact, that Luca was yours for a mutual agreement that was meant to benefit you both.
It seemed that everyone became your worst enemy when you returned to campus from the December break. Every girl that looked at Luca, was all of a sudden flirting with him and you found yourself going insane. Of course Luca never went for any of them yet you thought that it was only out of respect for you. As you two grew further apart, the worst fears came through your mind as he seemed to have less and less time for you.
Part of you felt stupid though as you got upset because you two were never really together “look I want you there tonight in my jersey.” Luca spoke softly as he leaned against your bed “you sure that Maisie wouldn’t be better in it?” Your words were sharp as you turned to face him again.
It irritated him as he roll his eyes “if I wanted Maisie I would be in her room wouldn’t I?” The hockey player snapped taking you back, it wasn’t that he raised his voice. It was the fact that he made no effort to suppress your concerns, he never did “I don’t want to go if you want to act like that.” You grumbled as you looked down to the sleeves of your hoodie.
Luca watched you avoid his gaze “I need to get going.” He sighed looking at the time on his phone as he was soon to be late to the walk in “bye.” The boy mumbled leaving you with not even a kiss on the head as he left you alone.
You couldn’t help but frown as you pulled your legs closer “how were you this clueless?” You groaned staring at the first picture that was taken after you two started this lie. Luca had his arm wrapped around you as you grinned, both blissfully unaware of the camera that Adam used to take that picture. That moment in time felt so real yet now here you sat willing to give up everything to get back to that.
Just as anyone could have predicted the boys won, but as the celebrated the win one player seemed distracted. Luca stared at the door hoping you would show up. He still felt bad about leaving you in the way that he did “where is your girlfriend?” Rutger furrowed his eyebrows as he had grown used to see you by his side “she isn’t feeling well.” Luca lied as he frowned.
Rutger didn’t fall for the answer as he scoffed “Kayleigh was told about the fight.” You had grown close to the blonde over the last few months “look she just got jealous about Maisie.” Luca shoved his hands into his pockets.
It made the blonde boy laugh “you really think you being here when she’s not your real girlfriend-” Rutgers scoff was short lived when Luca’s hand slapped over his mouth “how do you know about that?” Luca’s voice was barely above a whisper as he began to wonder how many other people knew about it too.
The younger boy rolled his eyes “y/n told me about it in November when she got drunk.” Luca remembered that night, you had just had the worst week of tests and got drunk.
Rutger watched you fall into the seat next to him “you look happy.” He smiled holding his arm out for you to hug him “like loving Luca.” You confessed as you nodded letting a grin paint your face as you watched Luca excitedly win a game of beer pong.
The American was happy to see both of his closest friends in this relationship “but he doesn’t love me.” You added with a huff making the boy grow confused “you think your boyfriend doesn’t love you?” Rutger swore it was the alcohol talking as he sat up straight to look at you.
He watched you nod “it’s like fake dating.” You shrugged before your eyes went wide “don’t tell him!” You raised your voice causing people to look in your direction.
Rutger was quick to shush you “you guys are just telling people you’re together?” He cocked his head as you nodded “but I think I kind of love him now.” You huffed pressing your head against the couch behind you.
Luca felt his mouth go dry as Rutger recalled the interaction “I should go.” The Canadian nodded to himself as he got up “don’t you want to stay with Maisie.”Rutger teased knowing all too well about your issues with her.
The way Luca let his lips press into a fine line made him laugh “just go get your girl.” Rutger took the beer from the Fantilli boys hand as he ushered him off.
Luckily for him you hadn’t left your room, instead opting to call Adam as you missed your best friend “I’m sorry I’m not there for you.” Adam frowned as all you had said was that you and Luca had fought “is it wrong for me to wish that he didn’t go to that party?” Your question was met with a knock at your door that had both of you going quiet.
It was weird watching the door “y/n please can we talk?” Luca pleaded from the other side of the door “I think your wishes are going to be answered.” Adam smiled as he sent you a wave before he hung up.
You walked with caution to your door before you opened it “look I need you to be really honest with me right now.” The hockey player began as he pushed past you letting himself into your dorm “do I have to?” You whined looking at your feet.
He nodded watching you shut the door behind yourself “do you love me?” The question made your heart jump into your throat “of course I do I mean we’ve known each other forever.” You tucked your hair behind your ear as you let out a soft laugh.
But that only made him grow irritated “you know that it’s not what I’m asking about.” He pointed out as he crossed his arms “you don’t want to know my answer.” You quipped back as you chewed at the inside of your cheek.
The boy walked closer to you leaving you to step back until your back hit the door “like hell I don’t.” Luca raised his voice as he shook his head “look if you can’t maybe I should go.” He sighed taking a step back as tears formed in his waterline.
Your palms began to grow sweaty “yes I love you.” You blurted out seeing him freeze “I have for months but that wasn’t meant to happen so I try to hide it.” You rambled on not seeing how he smiled at the fact that your cheeks went red.
Part of Luca began to feel cruel as he let you carry on “look I want all of you, not some half ass agreement where you just end up in my bed.” You raked your fingers through your hair as you sighed trying to remain straight faced as the boy placed his hands on your waist “you have all of me.” His words were so simple yet they did so much for you.
He smiled as he stepped closer to you shutting the gap between you both “I want to be yours for real.” The hockey player mumbled as he nodded “I love you.” It was his turn to get talkative as you stood there in what felt like shock.
All of the months of dating under a false pretence lead up to this “do we want to do this for real then?” You cocked your head as you smiled “you don’t know how happy I am to hear you say that.” He nodded as he kissed your lips enjoying how it felt to know that you were finally all his.
Your hands wrapped around his neck pulling him close like you were scared to lose him “but just to be clear you will tell Maisie to go fuck herself if she continues flirting with you?” You pulled away making him laugh “think it might be funnier if you get the chance to do it for f’me.” Luca countered making you press your lips into a fine line.
He grinned as he pulled you even closer to him as he pulled the two of you onto your bed “I’m kidding!” He laughed as he kissed your lips once more knowing that he was going to enjoy his night with you where you were finally his.

February 7, 2023
She wasn’t supposed to be at his house until tomorrow but a little surprise never hurt anyone.
She turned off her headlights as she turned onto his road and pulled into his driveway, giggling to herself as she did so. Mark was always the one to show up and surprise her at one of her shows so she just wanted to return the favour.
As she sat in her car she pulled out her phone to call Mark, to which he answered almost immediately with a stern, “What are you doing up this late?”
“Who are you? My dad?” she giggled, ”I just missed your voice.” she spoke softly, that part was true, she really did miss him, which is partially why she chose to come over a bit earlier than planned.
“That’s very sweet, honey, but I think you should get some sleep.” As soon as he finished his sentence he heard a car door shut on the other side of the phone. “Was that a car door?”
“Maybe.” she giggles, “I took a drive.”
“At 11:32 at night?”
“I got bored.” she walked up to the front of the house, “Plus I have someone to see.” and with that she hung up, leaving Mark completely confused. She shoved her phone back into her pocket while she knocked on the door.
It took him a couple seconds to get to the door, but as soon as he opened it he just froze. He looked mortified but she knew that was far from the truth, he was just trying to process the whole ordeal. She smirked at his reaction, “Surprise.” she sang, holding her arms out for a hug.
“Chloe!” Mark immediately picked her up and spun her around, wrapping her in his arms. “What the fuck are you doing here?!” he places her back on her feet, resting his hands on her hips as he awaited a response
“I wanted to surprise you!”
“Well this is certainly a surprise sweetheart.” he pressed a kiss to her forehead before guiding her into the living as he went to retrieve her bags from her car. After he was done he sat down next her her on the couch, putting his arm around her and pulled her closer to his side, she snuggled against him, humming softly as she got comfortable.
The pair ended up falling asleep on the couch while watching a re-run of Grown Ups, legs and arms tangled up together. Chloe’s head resting on his chest and his arms firmly wrapped around her waist, insuring no escape.
February 8, 2023 (10:02 a.m.)
Mark woke up before she did (surprise, surprise) and decided to make her breakfast, he wasn’t much of a cook but he figured it was the thought that counted.
He admits, he may have gone a bit over board but in his mind she deserved every bit of it. He makes his way to the living room to wake her up, something he really didn’t enjoy doing. His hands also slowly ran up and down her back, pressing a kiss to her shoulder blade, “Babyyy..” he sang softly.
Her eyes fluttered open as she felt him press another kiss to her skin, this time to her crook of her neck and she hummed in response.
“Time to get up, darling.” he says warmly, “I made you breakfast.”
“Bacon?” she all but mumbles.
He chuckles, “Yes, there’s bacon, hun. Now come on before it gets cold.”
She sits up, wiping her eyes as she yawns obnoxiously loud. Mark helps walk her to the dining room, pulling her chair out for her. “Such a gentleman.” she giggles as she sits.
“Only for you.” he winks before he walks to the kitchen to grab the plates he had made for the two of them, “Hope you’re hungry.” he said as he placed one of the plates in front of her and the other on front of his seat, “You want apple juice, love?”
She nodded quickly in response and she began eating her food. He had made everything she liked, just the way she liked it, eggs fried with no yolk, bacon a bit crispy and toast the perfect golden brown. He placed a cup near her plate as he finally sat down to eat with her, “I have the car all packed and ready, Jenson and Nando are getting there together, Seb said he’d be a bit late but he’ll be there.”
Her brows furrowed, “Seb? Late? Impossible.”
“Apparently he woke up late.” he shrugged, “Knowing him he’ll probably find some way of getting there quicker.”
(11:24 a.m.)
Mark was right.
Sebastian managed to get there before everyone, sitting under a tree as he waited for the others to arrive.
He made his way to Mark’s car to help upload as Chloe searched for the perfect spot. Jenson and Fernando weren’t too far behind, pulling up a couple minutes after Mark set up the umbrella Chloe insisted he bring.
Chloe was in the middle of unpacking all the snacks and laying them out in a nice spread for everyone when Jenson put his hands around her eyes, “Guess who.” he sang.
She’d smile, “Judging by that stupid British accent I assume Jenson.” she’d spin around to be greeted by not only the Brit but also Fernando. She hugged them both before going back to sorting the snacks.
“So what’s the plan?” Jenson asked, sitting on one of the blankets laid out on the sand.
“Well I don’t know about you guys but I’m drawing for a bit.” Chloe spoke, sitting in one of the deck chairs Mark had packed, gathering her sketchbook and art supplies from her backpack.
Fernando chuckled as he sat next to Jenson, “You’re always drawing, cariño.”
She shrugged, “And you guys are always racing so what’s the problem?”
Jenson laughed, “Cheeky little thing today, are we?”
Chloe smiled widely, “Always.”
Mark and Seb had just got done unpacking everything, walking back over to the group, sitting on the other blanket next to the deck chair. “Glad you guys are enjoying yourselves.” Mark grumbled, laying down on the blanket, attempting to stretch his back.
(1:43 p.m.)
The sun hung high in the clear blue sky, casting golden rays on the pale sand below. Waves crashing against the shore, creating soothing sounds for the group’s adventures. Birds flying overhead, cawing at each other.
Jenson was closest to the water’s edge, engrossed in an intense game of beach volleyball with Mark, diving to save the ball, sending it soaring back over the net with triumphant smile as it smacked the sand, causing Mark to yell out a string of curses.
Chloe stayed in the deck chair under the shade of the umbrella, her sketchbook balanced on her knees as she captured the scene before her in swift, confident pencil strokes, the page slowly filling with a lively depiction of their beach day.
Fernando had moved to sit on the blanket closest to Chloe, intently watching the volleyball game, occasionally stealing glances at Chloe’s work.
A little further down the beach was Sebastian, crouched down peering into a pool crowded with tiny crabs and colourful sea anemones. He called out to the others, excitement in his voice as he discovered a vibrant starfish clinging to a rock.
As the day wore on, the friends came together for a break. Mark and Jenson collapsing onto the sand, breathless from their game. Fernando moving up to sit behind Chloe on the deck chair, Chloe putting her sketchbook back into her bag. Seb joined them, cradling his starfish discovery in a small bucket of water.
“Look what I found.” She said, holding the bucket up for everyone to see.
Chloe leaned in, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “Woahhh, it’s so pretty, Seb. You always find the coolest stuff.”
Jenson grinned, wiping sweat from his forehead. “Anyone up for a swim?”
Mark nodded, already getting up his feet, “You know it!”
Chloe beamed, “Can we play mermaids?”
Mark, Seb and Fernando all yelled ‘yes!’ in sync and the group erupted with laughter.

painting us // colby brock
A/N: this is a birthday present from me to yall. aren't i so generous lol i've been wanting to write something like this ever since i saw this tiktok. it was so cute and so sweet and i just knew it would be a PERFECT fic for colby. i can 1000% see him doing this someday with someone or malia. there's no gender mentioned in this one so anyone can read this and enjoy :) hope yall like it and lmk what you think! also wish my happy birthday while you're at it haha
prompt: colby and you have been together for a long time, and he decides for a special date night that you two should paint one another. || colby brock x reader
trigger warning: one curse word, PURE FLUFF, super sweet <33
word count: 1300
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Are you gonna be upset if my painting looks like ass?" Colby smirked, staring up at me for a moment.
I shook my head. "Babe, I highly doubt it's gonna look that bad."
"You know I have no artistic skills. And especially after a glass of wine?" He pffted.
I giggled. "I'll love it regardless."
Our date nights were always fun, having spent so much time together - it was natural for us to enjoy ourselves. Some of my favorite memories were from dates of ours. Recently Colby had seen a stream of tiktoks talking about getting tipsy and painting one another and showing the results afterwards. He mentioned really wanting to do this one night with me, saying we could turn it into a whole date; including making pizza together and watching a movie after. I agreed once I saw one of the tiktoks and thought it looked like a cute idea. What was hysterical to me was how one partner was always so bad at painting and the other was either amazing or just okay.
And since I had been with Colby for a couple years now, I knew which one of us was going to be the bad one... and it definitely wasn't going to be me.
Colby was creative in a lot of ways. Painting was just not one of them.
I kept looking up at him, doing my best to paint him like he was: hair gelled in just the right way - like he always wore it, a short sleeve button up shirt with a black and white design on it. His eyes were soft, and his lips had a light red stain on them from the wine he had been drinking with me. Every time we made eye contact, he would smile cheekily at me, his dimples showing, and sometimes giving me a wink when I would smirk back.
He was the love of my life, and I couldn't imagine anyone else sitting here with me. I didn't want anyone else sitting here with me, on a random Thursday night, painting, drinking, and reminiscing.
"What's been your favorite date of ours?" He asked softly, his brush lightly tapping at the canvas.
I sat back for a moment, thinking. "Oooh, that's a good question. I think I really liked the one we took on your one day off in Rome. It was nice that even on a work trip, you made time for me."
"I will always make time for you," he stated sincerely. "And having authentic Italian food in Italy is a no brainer."
I moaned, "That pasta was to die for."
"I could gain 10 pounds just thinking about it." He jested.
"What about you? What's been your favorite date of ours?" I questioned, painting in his shirt some more.
"Hmmm, probably when we found that hidden beach out in Virginia, and we just watched the stars for hours and talked." Colby smiled at the memory.
I sighed sweetly, "You're such a sap."
"Only for you." He whispered, taking a sip of his wine.
"Are you almost done? I think I've painted your face like six times now but I feel like I'm never gonna get your eyes right." I huffed, slightly frustrated.
"Yeah, I think I'm done..." His voice trailed off, his eyes suddenly full of nerves.
"You don't sound too enthused." I remarked, watching him.
He cleared his throat, "I-I'm just nervous for you to see it. I tried really hard."
"Aw babe, that's so sweet." I commented.
His gaze met mine and he nodded, "Show me yours first, Y/N."
"Alright..." I spun the canvas around, showing him the painting. His whole face brightened, his eyes kind.
Colby pointed proudly, "Baby, that's excellent."
"You think so?" I inquired, looking back at the painting.
"Yeah! You did really good," he exclaimed. "I'm actually shocked at how much that looks like me."
"I feel like your eyes aren't quite right though." I mentioned.
He cocked his head, tracing the lines of the painting with his gaze. "The right one does look a little wonky... but at least you painted me accurately."
I laughed, "Hey now, that's not true. Your right eye is lovely."
"Thanks for the reassurance." His smile dropped, his face nervous once more. "Do you wanna see mine?"
"Of course. I bet it's amazing." I reassured him.
Colby nodded, growing quiet instantly. He looked anxious, and I politely smiled at him. He took a deep breath, grabbing the canvas and turning it over.
It wasn't a painting of me. Well, I was on it. It was the two of us as little mini figures in the corner, holding hands. The background was painted a light pink. And there were words taking up the whole canvas. I read them slowly, taking them in one by one.
Will... you... marry... me?
Will you marry me?
He... was asking me to marry him.
Colby was asking me to marry him.
Tears welled up in my eyes as it hit me, my mouth falling open as I blinked rapidly. He chuckled, getting up and walking over to me. He placed the painting in front of me on the table, taking my hand in his. From his back pocket he pulled out a small ring box and opened it. Inside was a beautiful ring, one that was clearly made for just me. It had everything I wanted in an engagement ring. The shape, the color, the cut.
It all made sense as to why months back he had asked me about rings and what I wanted. I knew he wanted to marry me, we had talked about it for over a year at this point. But all of this felt so surprising.
His voice wavered as he spoke, tears brimming from his eyes. His hands shook against mine anxiously. His eyes remained on mine the entire time, his heart speaking for him. "Y/N, you have been the best partner I could have ever asked for. The moment I met you I knew I wanted to marry you. You are unlike anyone I've ever known before. You make me feel so secure in who I am as a man and you help me be a better one every day just by existing in my life. I have truly never felt happier, and I thank God every day for sending you my way when I needed you most. I cannot imagine spending another second without you as mine. I love you so much. Will you please marry me?"
I stared at him, the ring, and back at him again. His eyes shined with unshed tears as he waited for me to respond.
"Of course, my love. You're all I've ever wanted," I choked out, more tears falling.
He grinned, sliding the ring onto my finger and jumping to his feet. He pulled me up with him, wrapping his arms around me tightly. He squeezed me, laughing softly as I cried happy tears into his chest. Colby pulled away, looking at me with adoration, kissing my lips feverishly. I kissed him back just as much, holding his face in my hands.
I wiped my tears away, "Oh my God, I can't believe it. This is fucking insane, Colby."
"That I'd marry you or that I surprised you?" He sassed.
I chuckled, "Both honestly."
"I love you, Y/N." He murmured, resting his forehead against mine.
"I love you, Colby." We stayed like that for a moment, just breathing, until I spoke, "I have a different answer to your earlier question though."
He raised an eyebrow, "What one?"
"My favorite date. It's not the Italy one. It's this one. For sure." I rubbed his arms softly, pulling him closer to me.
Colby beamed, "This is my favorite one too."
𝖫𝖮𝖲𝖳 𝖱𝖤𝖢𝖮𝖱𝖣𝖲 ౨ৎ : vlog one
about: lost records of the past and even past friendships lie between small little films from a certain camera. 2006 was a year of laughs, smiles and even more that turned most of them over. who knew going back into the past would help cause a bit of deja vu but also some memories that shouldn't of been shown. note: this is taken during 2006 where everyone gets ptsd lolz!!! but the point of you is basically yk watching the film. reader pronouns are she/her and is a female reader!! the readers personality maybe a little different to yours (sorry) i wrote this all in one go so tell me if theres any spelling mistakes
Tumblr media
"nobara we shouldnt be doing this..!!" the pink head nervously fidgeted infront of the tv. "its fine its not like anyone will know if we put it back in the same spot!" she claimed smiling.
opening the small box of tapes with names on the side such as 'beach day ♡' or 'vlog with toru' and other ones with colourful dried out gel pen writing. itadori grabbed one from the box with the name 'vlog one yay ★'.
a certain sea urchin haired walked in with a towel around his neck pausing seeing the familiar pinkish box gojo kept in his wardrobe. "why are you looking through that?" he walked over seeing all the little nick nacks laid out. megumi hadnt seen any of it ever since he was younger when she was around. crouching down and grabbing the tape out of itadoris hands while placing it into the dvd player.
all three of them sat in front of the tv waiting for the tape to work. little speckles were on the screen before showing gojo in the distant talking to someone. they could hear laughter and it was like deja vu all over again for a certain one.
Tumblr media
"stop tryna flirt with n/n shes not gonna answer" a tall guy stood next to the white haired one. the camera then turned to a 180 degree angle focusing on a h/c girl with her knees tucked to her chest smiling at the guys away from them. the breeze gently waving there way through her hair with a little smile adoring her plumped lips. she looked to the camera smiling and waving. "do i need to say anything to this vlog?" she rested her head on the top of her knees staring. "just say your name, age, and whatever you want" from the camera person who was oodly familiar.
"uhm! well my name is y/n, im 15 turning 16 in a few days and well i want to help people" smiling at the camera before turning her head to the guys after hearing them quiet down. the camera turned to where she was staring seeing the albino haired man stare back at her before turning away. the other male had bursted out laughing at him before jogging to the camera. "oi geto do an intro to the camera" the camera person claimed at the male who looked confused but grabbed the camera so it was facing him.
"the names geto suguru, im 16 and i love watching gojo fail at confessing and also i really like kfc so if you have it hit me up babygirl" he chuckled before flipping the camera to the two girl showing a brown haired girl. "now you shoko" he claimed while hearing a bunch of footsteps in the background.
"shoko leri, 16 and i hate everyone here except n/n" she smirked before lighting her ciggarette while you could see y/n scrunch up her nose before turning away from the puff of smoke. "bleh" she exclaimed while resting her head on the albino who randomly sat next to her. "well satoru its time for you to do an intro to the camera" geto had placed the camera in his hands before sitting in front of all three of them.
"UHM what do i say n/n?" he turned to her who she was already looking at the camera with curiosity. "just say your name, age and idk a comment..?" she sweat-dropped at the question before grabbing a few daises from the ground making a bracelet.
"well so my name is gojo satoru and im 16 and uh and uh really hate kfc and thats directed at someone here" he looked around for an answer to pop up. it had taken him that long to think until feeling a small amount of weight on top of his head. softly tapping his white locks feeling flowers realising y/n had made a flower crown which could be seen on the camera while she had one of her own. "you like?" she rested her head back on his shoulder staring at the camera dozing off. "of course i do if its from you" he wiggled his eyebrows at her while geto was choking from laughing.
"okay thats enough of flirting on this vlog so say bye" shoko exclaimed grabbing the camera back facing it towards the two males and girl. they looked to the camera and waved.
"geto is a bum-"
Tumblr media
the tape had finished and pop out from the dvd player. a cough rang out the dorm seeing the albino male standing there with a small smile leaning against the door frame. "we are so sorry sensei we didnt mean to go through your stuff!! we were just confused why you have a pink flowery box!!" itadori kept bowing up and down praying.
megumi looked away showing small amount of guilt but completely out of it. he missed the sound of one of the girls voice and seeing her again.
nobara just sat still staring at her sensei before getting up while grabbing the box to give back. "were sorry .. it was my idea i was just curious" she bowed while having the box in the air infront of the male.
gojo only chuckled at them before standing back while sighing. "its fine tell me when you watch the second one.. i havent had the time to watch them" he rubbed the back of his neck while keeping eyes on the sea urchin.
"who was the woman that you sat next to gojo?" itadori asked the taller one without a filter. "her name was y/n and she went here" megumi said before gojo knowing he would blurt something out.
"she was so pretty can we meet her one day" nobara and itadori asked gojo with imaginary tails like little golden retrievers. gojo smiled and turned around keeping his back away from them. "yeah i'll take you sometime soon" he walked off making the first years confused.
Absent in the spring.
Tumblr media
paring: q!wilbur x fem!reader (+ platonic q!philza x fem!reader)
summary: a small vacation to Phil’s beach house causes you to finally break down.
authors note: a follow-up to this fic but you don’t really have to read it. some more q!wilbur angst for you guys because I miss wilbur and tullulah content! also i made it so chayanne and tallulah talk in this lets just pretend the eggs are the human-dragon hybrids that are in fanart bc thats how i see them!
warnings: a little angsty sorry, hurt-comfort, happy end, not 100% following qsmp lore, unedited! please ignore any mistakes!
Tumblr media
“how are you holding up?”
Phil’s voice pulls you out of your trance from fidgeting with the blades of grass next to your tucked legs.
You bring your gaze up from the lush green and watch on as Chayanne and Tallulah play tag a few feet away in the field behind Phil’s beach house.
The past month had been weary as you waited for your husband to return from his tour. Days stretched on though you kept going despite that dread in your chest of missing him.
Phil had noticed you seemed less like yourself as the month went on. You were sleeping less, and getting stressed. When he came over to help you take care of Tallulah yesterday he saw how defeated you looked while trying to keep a brave face for your daughter.
Being in an empty house wasn’t fun for anyone, especially when it was too dangerous to go outside on the server alone. So, Phil invited you out to escape that empty feeling, just for a while at least. A walk and boat ride later, you were now sat beside the man with his legs crisscrossed while he munched on avocado toast.
You had shrugged plainly to his question. Fine? Okay? you didn’t know…
Squeals and giggles erupted in your ears as you watched Tallulah finally tag a breathless Chayanne, who had gotten tired of running away from his sister and let her have a turn at the one being chased. Her little legs barely kept up with her taller older sibling as he quickly regained energy.
You couldnt help the smile that was brought upon your lips. Happy they were having such a good time together, being normal for once and not sheltered from the horrors of the server that was trying to harm them every moment. They needed this time, to be care free. To be kids.
You and Phil chuckled at their antics. Though It made your heart break thinking about Wilbur being absent. He wasn’t here to hear the sounds of his daughter's sweet giggles as she played blissfully in the tall grass. To see how she was getting along with everyone, making sure they were happy and cared for.
Wilbur hadn’t sent you a letter in a week. You understood he was busy with tour, you didn’t expect him to have much time to sit and write but your worst agitations were coming true.
The disappointment was settling in each time you would go to the mailbox by the door- you and lullah had spent a day painting and decorating to your liking, with splotches of colors and your names painted across in not-so-straight letters- it would be empty with no sign of even being open since the previous morning.
“I miss him,” you say suddenly to Phil, whose gaze shifts away from the kids to you. You keep your eyes locked on them, fearing that meeting his eyes would make you finally break down into the tears you were holding back for so long.
Phil brings his hand onto your shoulder, a simple symbol of comfort.
“Awe mate, I miss him too.” he said warmly. “he’ll be back soon, im sure of it.”
Swallowing the lump building in your throat, you were so glad you had Phil there for you in these moments. Tallulah had done a good part cheering you up but sometimes you needed a real talk.
"I thought I could do this on my own but-" you choke. "I need him, Phil. He's missed so much and I can't help but think he's gonna feel guilty for not being there for her, or for me."
You let yourself break down in-front of your father in-law finally letting go of everything you’d been holding onto the past month and a half.
Phil placed his hand on your back in support as you sobbed into your hands. The aching pain in your forehead with the slight headache building, the chest pangs told you this cry was long over due.
A tap on your shoulder brings your head out from your knees. You lift your eyes to see Chayanne standing over you, his hand stretched out with a simple white flower pinching between his little fingers. His eyes held nothing but innocence as he looked down on you solemnly. He did not understand why you were so distraught, nor did he care, he just wanted to aid you in any way that he could.
"Please don't cry, Tia Y/N," his voice was small but sympathetic, making your heart sink.
Phil looked so proud in that moment, to see his son come over to aid you with comfort made him perceive he was doing something right in raising a child for once.
Taking the flower from Chayanne, he immediately crouched down to give you a tight hug around your shoulders. Surprised but grateful, you began silently crying as another pair of little arms joined the embrace - you knew it was Tallulah. Finally, you allowed yourself to let go and broke down into tears, feeling their tight embrace.
You were so glad you had these kids. Though they didn’t understand your behavior entirely there was no judgement, only care.
“For what it's worth Y/N, you have us and we will always take care of you both.”
Of course, you knew that. Phil had always been there for you since you first met him. He took his role as a father to everyone very seriously.
“thank you for bringing us here Phil, we really needed this.” you breathe as the kids pulled away from you. Phil gives you a smile of understanding.
-
A few hours passed as you all sat on the dock, watching the last glimmer of daylight fade away over the water - casting a golden glow. Phil suggested a campfire to roast marshmallows. Tallulah and Chayanne were already running off excitedly to gather various sticks to help. Once the fire was going, you all sat together on the sand telling stories, laughing, and enjoying each other's company.
The hole in your heart was healing, and the weight on your chest lifted. You realized that even though life was rough and unpredictable, having a supportive family was what mattered, and you felt content and at peace.
You saw the others smiling, knowing the shared bond was enough.
That night you all slept at the beach house, and for the first time in a month, neither you nor Tallulah had a nightmare.
The journey the following day back to Phil’s was thankfully uneventful. Mostly just shenanigans between the two children. Collecting things like leaves for the scrapbook you and Tallulah were making for Wilbur, documenting all your adventures. Chayanne running ahead to deal with any monsters who dare cross your path.
Upon seeing the tiny house with a fenced yard, you all went your separate ways. As you opened the gate to the yard, the tall purple trees and the various flowers made you miss the tiny home.
Tallulah seemed happy to be back and automatically tried dragging you to see her turtles before you could close the gate. You asked her to be patient while you brought your bags inside.
Walking up to the front door, you heard a crash from inside and you froze. You instantly reached for your sword laying on your hip. Tallulah saw this as a warning and she quickly cowered behind your legs. Preparing for the worst, it could be anyone behind the door. Charlie looking for food, (since he was living near your house in a shed last you heard.) Quackity looking to start another fight about parenting. Or worse the code monster could’ve shown up again to take Tallulah from you.
You would die before that would happen.
Tallulah clung to your legs as you quietly unlocked the door and pushed it open. You gazed down at her and saw her worried eyes.
“If something happens I need you to teleport to abuelito and Chayannes to warn them okay?” You spoke to her firmly in hushed tones, being careful. Tallulah showed you the tiny purple stone for a quick getaway and indicated she understood.
The house was exactly as you left it, except for the suitcase and guitar bag resting against the sofa, which made you frown. Then realization settled in and a gasp escapes you.
Was he here?
Or was this another trick?
As you lowered your sword, you heard someone rustling down the ladder. The wood creaked with every step as the person in the yellow sweater came into view. With round glasses leaning down his nose, fluffy hair, and long limbs, you’d know him anywhere.
Wilbur felt relief wash over him as he stopped midway on the ladder and saw you staring at him in disbelief. as if he were a ghost. It pained him slightly. You couldn’t believe it.
Wilbur was back.
Tallulah peeked out from behind your legs and the tiny gasp she let out when she saw Wilbur. She ran into his arms and cried out;
"Papa!"
Wilbur grinned as his tearful daughter ran towards him. He scooped her up in a tight embrace as you watched, tears streaming down your own cheeks. He held her swinging back and forth gently trying to hush her cries. She was so happy to finally see him again. You had never seen such a wonderful sight of the two people you loved the most in this world.
“I missed you so much Tallulah!”
Wilbur rested his head on Tallulah’s and smiled sideways at you and reached out his arm. Without hesitation, you dropped your sword, which clanked loudly on the ground, and you rushed into his embrace.
You bury your face in his neck, holding onto his scent, his body, his everything. Never wanting to forget how he felt and sounded. Tears stream down your face, drenching his sweater, but you don't care. This time, they flow out of love and happiness, not frustration or sadness.
You all cried and held onto each other for dear life.
“I missed you so, so much my love,” he coos in your ear causing you to choke out a laugh. After missing his voice for months you were so elated to hear it again.
Wilbur sniffled as he squeezed you both tightly in his arms, never wanting to let go.
“I’m here my girls, and I am never gonna leave you again,” he whispers.
This was home.
Tumblr media
The only thing you remembered after the Nautiloid, funnily enough, was the sun.
It felt so wonderful on your skin, tickling you awake slowly. With your eyes still closed, and a sense of confusion in your head, you imagined yourself on a tropical beach somewhere...perhaps, you had accidentally dozed off for an early-afternoon nap. The sun warmed your cheeks, causing you to sigh contently, wrapped in the warm embrace of nature...the cherry on top were the birds singing some ways away.
Until your brain had snapped you back to reality.
Soon, the memory of the capture - you on your way home late one night in Baldur's Gate - and your forced stay on the Nautiloid came crashing back to you. Your eyes popped open and you immediately sat up, a wave of nausea induced by the pain running through your body. Clutching your stomach, you leaned over slightly, ready to expel the bile gathering in your stomach. How funny that mere moments before, you had subconsciously tricked yourself into thinking you were on some sort of vacation, when in reality, you were puking your guts up and fighting a dizzy spell.
Slowly standing up - with the help of the giant rock you were leaning against - you took in her surroundings. A small, almost sorry excuse for a beach, littered with bodies, and said bodies' belongings. You turned and saw the Nautiloid behind, parts engulfed in flames. The once feel-good sun was now causing a pounding headache and you winced from the pain, slowly walking around the beach.
"Hello?" You called, your voice raspy and hoarse, "Is anyone here alive?"
The only sounds that met you back were the sounds of flames and creaking metal. You took inventory of her person - completely devoid of all your belongings.
Well, fuck.
Your groaned and continued to walk, trying not to look at the dead bodies littering the beach.
Okay, you thought, trying to calm your breathing, I was captured by mind flayers and forced upon their ship. I have a tadpole in my brain. Their ship...crashed? And landed here. And I somehow...survived?
How in the hell did I do that?
As you continued down the beach, you noticed something glittering in the sand next to a body...gold. Pursing your lips together, you stopped at the body and thought for a moment.
"I'm probably going to need some of that..." You said out loud quietly. Even though there was no one around you - no one alive, anyway - you still looked behind yourself, making sure no one was watching. You snatched the few gold coins scattered around the body and put them in the pocket of your tattered pants. While reaching for the gold, you noticed the body had a dagger attached to a holster. You sighed, quickly reaching for the dagger while trying to somehow not touch the corpse you were currently looting.
"Forgive me, forgive me, forgive me." You said pleadingly to no one in particular. It wasn't the first time you had looted a corpse - after all, you had been on plenty of adventures - but you tried not to make a habit of it if you could.
After you had attached the dagger in its holster to your body, you continued up the beach, avoiding the crash in case any of the mind flayers somehow had survived. You were fairly certain you would be able to fight them, but at this current moment you were a little worse for wear, and truly wanted to find some sort of town or village. Passing by a fishing boat in a small dock, a flash of hope struck you - maybe you would luck out, after all.
After about an hour of walking, and still not meeting a living soul, you heard voices in the path ahead. Something along the lines of arguing. Quickly, you ducked into the nearest bush in case of enemies - you stayed completely still so you could hear their conversation.
"And I'm just telling you that this is a waste of our time - we shouldn't be helping a group of random Tieflings...we should be trying to figure out how to get these damned tadpoles out of our brains!" A voice in frustration, it's sound of a lyrical lilt.
Tadpoles! You thought, almost jumping out of the bush, They must be survivors of the crash! I'm not the only one.
"I agree with Astarion - this isn't our problem. And we shouldn't be wasting our time." Another voice spoke. She sounded annoyed, her words cutting and sharp.
More words were spoken, but they were mumbled. Leaning a bit forward out of the bush, you tried to get into a better position for hearing the argument.
"But as we were told before, this druid, Halsin, may be able to help us," A third voice - deep and melodic - said, almost trying to reason with the other two, "With Wyll and Karlach on our side now, I think we have a fair shot of taking on this goblin camp, rescuing Halsin, and therefore potentially getting these tadpoles out!"
More grumbling happened as you leaned forward just a bit more to hear it. Steadying your footing, you scooted a bit closer to the conversation.
"Yeah, that sounds like a fine idea! Besides, what do you have against us tieflings, you two?!" A booming voice rose, laughter following it.
"Darling, I'm not against tieflings, but-"
Soon you realized you couldn't hear the rest of the conversation. Inching forward ever so slightly, you grumbled. Suddenly, you lost your footing, you foot slipping under you, and sending you tumbling out of the bush with a loud THUMP!
And straight in front of the group arguing.
Immediately the group of five shouted and drew their weapons, pointed at you. You shrieked and jumped up, throwing your hands in the air.
"I come in peace, I promise!" You shouted, backing up.
"Says the istik who jumped out of a bush, chk!" A githyanki woman said, her sword closing in your throat, "Speak, or lose your head."
"Lae'zel, enough. Give her some breathing room," The deep voice from earlier spoke. It came from a handsome man, with flowing brown hair and purple robes, "Let's hear her out before we decide to end her life."
"Yes, that is a fantastic idea!" You said, trying to catch your breath. You cleared your throat, trying to lower the adrenaline coursing through your body, "Um...hello?" You offered, trying to look all of them in the eye.
The group was a weird mix - a devilish-looking tiefling, a fair haired elf, two humans, a githyanki, and a heavily clad half elf all stood before you expectantly. The half elf crossed her arms impatiently.
"Out with it, we don't have all day."
Oh, big surprise - she was the annoyed one from earlier.
"My name is Atriss," You offered, "I was on the Nautiloid...I also have a tadpole...I heard you mention it earlier?" The mention of the tadpole made the party readjust themselves in some way. When no one spoke, you kept going, "I'm just...trying to find some lodging. And to figure out what happened to me."
"Well, you're probably going to want to find a cure for this tadpole before you find lodging," The devilish-looking tiefling said, "Apparently those things are what turn you into a mind flayer, so you should probably work on that, first."
A wave of panic washed over you, "...I'm going to turn into a mind flayer?"
"Ah, do not panic...not yet," The brown haired man said, "Apparently, it should have happened already, and it...obviously hasn't. So, we seem to be safe...for now."
You nodded slowly, looking at the man, who, for whatever reason, was smiling as he talked about becoming a mind flayer.
"Where are you from, Atriss?" The second human man asked.
"Baldur's Gate...are we close to there?"
The elf and half elf laughed, almost a snicker. You looked at the elf and narrowed your eyes - something about him was a little off.
"Darling, we aren't even close," He spoke, the lyrical lilt from earlier, "But you're in luck, because that's where some of us are trying to get back to, as well."
"Yeah, soldier! Stick with us and we'll go on an adventure together!" The tiefling said, punching her fist in the air, "But first, we have some goblins to slay."
"What Karlach means is, we are going to find someone to take these tadpoles out of our heads. But in the meantime, there seem to be some...obstacles we must defeat first." The brown haired human said. Suddenly, he took a step forward and bowed slightly, "I'm Gale. Wizard extraordinaire."
"Oh, okay-"
"This is Karlach, like I mentioned earlier. And that is Wyll, Lae'zel, Shadowheart, and finally, Astarion." Gale pointed to each person with their introduction and I nodded to all of them, my gaze resting on Astarion.
His hair was a fair shade of silver, and his seemingly-perpetual smirk was quite enticing. His eyes were an odd shade of red...you had never seen that before. Standing confidently, you noticed him sizing you up as you stood there, taking in the group.
"Can I help you with something?" You asked him, raising your eyebrows. His body stayed still as a statue.
"Whatever do you mean, darling?" He retorted.
"Well, it just seems that you have a vast interest in me, and I was wondering what I could do in order to squash your interest." You jutted your chin out a bit, crossing your arms. Karlach whistled and slapped Astarion's shoulders from behind.
"Seems you've got some competition in the Sassy Department, Astarion!" She said, cackling wildly. Wyll joined in on her laughter, and you could see a smirk playing on Gale and Shadowheart's lips. Lae'zel stood frowning.
Astarion did a quick once over on your body before turning on his heels, taking off, "If we want to try and fight these damned goblins sometime soon, then we should get going." He said to no one in particular. One by one, the group followed suit, Karlach making eye contact with you and rolling her eyes before falling in line with you.
"Don't worry, soldier. That's a warm welcome if I've ever seen one!" She said, "Welcome to the squad! Nice to have another personality on board - don't tell her, but Lae'zel's brooding was becoming a bit too much for me." Her voice lowered so no one else can hear.
"I can already tell she's the 'warm and welcoming' type." You said back. Karlach snickered.
"First things first, we must head back to the grove so we can get a bag of holding and supplies for Atriss," Wyll commanded at the front of the group, "Atriss, do you have any gold?"
"Um..." You absentmindedly put your hand in your pants pockets, fingering the 5 pieces of gold you had stolen from the corpse, "...not enough." You said, ashamed. You watched Astarion and Shadowheart roll their eyes and look at each other. A blush rose over your cheeks - what was it about you that made Astarion dislike you already?
"No worries...I can work something out once we arrive." Wyll said, offering you a kind smile, "Let's get going...we'll gather some more information from Zevlor this evening, prepare for our departure, and set off first thing tomorrow. Sound good?"
The group murmured their agreements, as they took off towards the Tiefling Grove, the fact of the matter hit you: you were now embedded in a journey that, from the looks of it, was about to be very long, very dangerous, and very life-changing.
You swallowed your fear, trying to keep up with the rest of the group.
After all, what else was there to do?
---
First chapter of "Evergreen"! This was a bit more of a build-up...I know there wasn't almost any Astarion/Atriss, but I promise it's coming!
As always, it means the world to me if you liked/commented/reblogged...it especially helps me know that you all are enjoying it!
oh my god this was such a hard choice that i literally might have to write the other one anyway .. cannot believe you picked iwa and 4 this is a PERFECT combo
iwaizumi + 4: sweater weather genre: fluff with a little kissin' !! reader is a cali girl and iwa knows his cars wc: 0.9k note: the car type is an easter egg if anyone knows it teehee
send me a number + a character and i'll write you a drabble!
Tumblr media
Half of Iwaizumi's heart will never leave California, he's sure of it. Half of it will never leave this house.
It's a little blue neighbourhood house in one of the pockets of suburbia you and your friends drove him to, a friend of a friend's house. Something like that.
(Iwaizumi doesn't remember why you all show up there every day, but he doesn't really care that much.)
Every time, it'd be just around dinner when you all met there. You'd sit on the couch, talking to everyone, introducing your handsome boyfriend to anyone who showed. He doesn't remember ever eating dinner anywhere else than in this kitchen.
(He used to be afraid of being homesick. In high school, he never really pictured leaving. You make him think he was born to leave.)
"Excuse us," you say, standing up from couch arm you sat on, taking his hand. "We'll be right back."
Iwaizumi's brows raise as you take his hand, standing up with him in tow, but he doesn't question you— no, he's never questioned you— as he follows you down the hallway.
You're out the door with a grin, walking over to the driveway where all the cars are. You toss him a set of keys.
He catches them against his chest as he pauses, squinting in the last life of today's sun. "Seriously?"
You slip into the car, grabbing his sunglasses and putting them on. "Why not?"
"Uh, because's that's a '68 Benz?"
"What, you still don't have a license?"
"I do, but—"
"Do you trust me?"
He sighs a laugh. "I don't trust myself."
"That's okay," you say with a wink, patting the driver's seat. "I trust you enough for the both of us."
Iwaizumi swallows, glancing back at the house before sighing, getting into the car.
"You're gonna be the death of me,"
"I'll be the death of us, actually, so drive safe!"
(He rolls his eyes, but he starts the engine.)
Iwaizumi drives, but you give him directions— you told all of your friends you'd be right back, but he doesn't see you getting home anytime soon, not when he watches you lean over into the breeze. He can smell the ocean and your perfume, and he fights to keep his eyes on the road.
He starts to think you're keeping him driving on purpose until you tell him to turn off on the empty highway you've landed on.
"Here?"
"It's a real road, I swear."
"...Alright."
The car rolls through the gravel which turns into sand, coming to a stop when you tell him. The sun starts going down again, like it waited for the two of you to get to where you were going before starting to go again. Waves crash and you unbuckle your seatbelt.
"A beach."
"Mhm," you say with a smile. "Your favourite!"
Truth be told, he's never been a huge beach guy— sand that makes a home in your shoes, sunburns that never leave. But, you know, if you're down, so is he.
Iwaizumi furrows his brows, undoing his seatbelt just after you. "Hey, where are you going?"
You don't answer, just jog out into the sand.
"Okay, whatever, coming."
When he gets out to round the car, tucking the car keys in his pocket, he stumbles back into the hood when you grip his shirt and kiss him. He finds his footing in the sand first, and then his hands find your hips.
He leans back so you can crawl into his lap, gripping his hair, kissing him like it's the last thing you'll ever do. His fingers dip into the belt loops of your jean shorts, his other hand sneaking beneath your shirt and up your back; he feels the goosebumps on your nape and he wonders if they're from him or the breeze.
(You sigh into his neck, your lips trailing past his jaw; he knows it's him.)
When you finally pull away, he doesn't kiss you.
"What now?" you ask with a small smile, the sun on your cheeks and hands still bunched in his clothes.
Iwaizumi leans back on the hood of the car, grinning up at you, shaking his head. "Nothing. I can't just look?"
"That's kinda boring."
"Hah, whatever."
You hum a laugh, looking over your shoulder at the water.
"You're trying to tell me that you can see all of this and you might actually go home someday?"
Iwaizumi's looking at you when he tells you it's really hard to.
"Well," you murmur, "make sure to tell your Miyagi friends about your Cali fling, Haji."
"Fling? You're nuts."
"Ooh, do you love me?"
Iwaizumi's cheeks flush red as you laugh, leaving a gentle peck on his lips.
"Well, for the record, I guess I can love you, too."
"Wow, what's the dealbreaker?"
"I mean... come on, who doesn't love the beach!?"
He groans, watching as you slip off of him and the car, tugging your shirt over your head and dropping it to the ground. He raises a brow, but you just tsk. "You're still on my case about that, huh?"
"You're in California, freak."
"What'd you just call me?"
You bite your lip, snorting a laugh as you slowly back up towards the water. "Freak?"
"Oh, that's it—"
Iwaizumi wears a huge grin as he tugs his shirt off, too, dropping it by yours as you both ditch your shoes and run. You think you'd have the upper hand, but you almost forget who he is.
He catches up to you quickly when you take a turn for the water, grabbing you from the waist as you scream.
"Haji!" you laugh, "Your pants!"
He looks down at his wet pant legs, but he ignores it; he turns you around, hands on either side of your waist.
You smirk. "And to think I thought you hated the beach?"
Iwaizumi chuckles, shaking his head, little splashes of water dripping from his eyelashes.
"Who says I don't?" he challenges, hands drifting under your thighs as he wraps your legs around his waist. "Maybe I just do when you're not here."
My Heart is Buried in Venice | Ricky Montgomery
Tumblr media
The waves crashed quietly against the shore while the water reflected the sparkling stars. Bobby dropped his phone in the sand and sat down facing the ocean. He hadn’t slept properly in 48 hours, the end of a long shift filled him with restlessness and an inability to close his eyes. So he stared at the horizon, where the water met the sky and the stars and moon danced in their reflections.
It had been a difficult few days, the team was all feeling it, he only hoped that after taking the time to speak with each of them they felt a little better than he did.
He felt the sand shift next to him and when he turned his head he saw you squatting down into a seated position to join him.
He frowned, he hadn’t told anyone he was coming here.
“How did you know I was here?” he asked simply, turning back to look at the rippling water.
“You always come here when you’re upset,” you shrugged. “Thought it was worth a try.”
He nodded his head and continued to stay silent. You gave him a moment to adjust to your presence before carefully moving closer to him and holding his hand that was nearest to you, fingers intertwined.
You knew why he came here. Somewhere that seemed so unlike his usual scene. He said his heart was buried here. You never really knew what that meant, but it made it a little easier to find him on days like this.
Bobby leaned a little closer to you, his head finding a comfortable place to rest on your shoulder. His attitude over the years had changed so strikingly compared to the closed off, reserved, and efficient fire Captain you had first met, and for that you were grateful. You held him close and pressed a kiss to his temple,
“You don’t have to be strong for me,” you whispered. “Not like you are for everyone else. You know that.”
He nodded his head slowly, his composed façade cracking with every word and action of compassion and comfort.
“It’s his birthday today, isn’t it?” you asked and Bobby nodded again, a few tears managing to slip through.
“He would have been 17,” he whispered, the first time he had spoken up since you first arrived. “I used to promise him and his sister that I’d bring them here someday.”
He sniffed and squeezed your hand a little tighter, shutting his eyes so his tears couldn’t glisten in the moonlight.
“I wish I brought them here when they were still alive,” he choked slightly on his words, “But all I ever did was spread their ashes here.”
You shut your eyes, fighting back your own tears while he trembled against you.
“I’m just so tired,” he broke down into tears, hiding his face in the crook of your neck.
You let go of Bobby’s hand and pulled him closer to you, cradling his head gently.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized. “I-I’m-,”
“Shh,” you hushed him gently. “It’s okay. It’s gonna be okay.”
Bobby was always everyone’s shoulder to lean on, but that never meant he was immune to what came with the job. Just maybe a little better at hiding it than everyone else.
“You’re allowed to be tired,” you told him. “Allowed to not be okay, you’re allowed to miss them, Bobby. But you’re not allowed to deal with this alone. There’s always someone out there who cares for you, whether it’s me, or Buck, Chim, Hen, Eddie. We all love you. I love you.”
It wasn’t an uncommon exchange of words between you and your teammates, but something this time made it feel different.
Bobby nodded his head again and wiped away his tears with the sleeve of his sweater.
He lifted his head from your shoulder and turned to look at you. It was clear you could both do with a little rest and relaxation, but this was one of those moments where life goes on, with or without you.
He gently cupped your cheek with his hand and leaned down slightly to press a kiss to your forehead.
“I love you too.”
You closed your eyes for a moment at the sound of those words. It was the best way he knew how to say thank you for looking out for me. You took his hand in yours again and pushed yourself up off the sand.
“Come on, let’s get you home.”
He followed your lead and grabbed his phone from next to him, before walking with you, side by side away from the shore.
All those times, spent alone by the water and all he ever really needed was someone to bring him home.
A/N: this was originally supposed to be a lil valentine's blurb but then it took a very dark turn so it won't be that unless you want it to be, and in that case then sure, this very dark fic can be a valentine's gift to you all (all 70 of you??? what the fuck??) anywho ty all for the love on my writing, can't begin to express how fucking cool that is and how thankful I am!!!
TW// very dark, death is alluded to until straight out said, sorta MCD but redeemed, lots of swearing, derealization, hallucinations, death ish. that's it I think?
Summary: Wilbur is a broken man with attachment issues, his problems only worsen after reader breaks up with him. he finds out his love isn't here anymore but finds himself discovering what true reality is his.
Pairings: cc!wilbur x reader
Pronouns: they/them and use of y/n and l/n
Words: 3,378 (forgot to add at first, sry)
masterlist
@lvrboysoot love u, elliot. sorry for the pain I'm gonna inflict upon you with this</3
-------------------------------
Wilbur was picky with who he said I love you to. His family was one thing, parents, brothers—those were easy. When it came to others, friends, romantic partners—those were more difficult, more calculated when he eventually admitted it.
But once he did, he never stopped saying it. And he was stubborn, fully set that he loved you more than anything than anyone ever loved anyone else.
He would say it at least once an hour, and if he was away he'd text the words to you, followed by some stupid mushy gif. He'd write love letters readmitting his feelings for you, attaching a little wild flower he found somewhere in the garden. He'd leave it on your side of the bed and sneak away back into his office. He sat in his desk chair and pretend to work as he listened for you to open the front door. He'd wait there, patiently dilly-dallying whilst he waited for your arms to wrap around him and kiss the top of his head.
He'd follow it by saying; "I love you, darling." His hands resting on your arms that snuck around his shoulders, your chin now on the top of his head.
"I love you too," Is what you would reply with, he'd chuckle and press a kiss to your arm.
"I love you more." Wilbur wasn't one to back down on this exchange, he was sure his love for you outweighed any amount of love for anyone or anything else.
Whoever ended the exchange would say I love you most.
It always mostly worked to end the exchange. Sometimes it just wasn't enough and strings of I love you's were exchanged. The word most wasn't the end all be all, unfortunately.
Or was that even...real?
                                        —★—
The ceiling was far from interesting, but staring at it was better than falling asleep in Wilbur's mind. The other side of the bed was cold, and the lack of warmth and a person beside him, infected his bones with the same bone-chilling temperature the sheets beside him had.
He'd reach his hand over every once and a while, subconscious habits taking over his actions, the exhaustion blurring his mind's ability to keep control.
He forgot how he loathed being alone. And he regretted not saying those words sooner. You would still be here next to him, your hand on the back of his neck, your own head nuzzled into his chest and his arm holding you close to his body, the two of you now one.
Wilbur should have said I love you a long time ago. Sleeping wouldn't be a dreaded activity and maybe the bags under his eyes wouldn't be so dark they look like black eyes anymore. He'd have a reason to move forward.
His phone had been shut off by him for a few weeks, and the bills still went through but he needed to ignore all the pleas and notifications from friends and family.
No, James, Wilbur does not want to go out drinking and talk about it. He'd much rather have anything else.
And no, Tommy, Wilbur didn't want to join your next vlog at the beach. Do you want him to break down?
Jack asked to come over and play some Mario Kart with him to take his mind off things. They all had valid concerns and they were only doing their best but he didn't want to do anything.
Not when he could have prevented the situation he's in, he's in a void, and he has no purpose as far as he's concerned.
Ash was the most gentle of them all, he asked if Wilbur was okay a few times, always following it up with "you don't have to talk about it, just know that I'm here". He was kind, quiet, and gentle. Wilbur had genuinely contemplated answering his friend, spilling his guts on how it was his fault and that there wasn't anything he could do that would mend it, everything was gone and it was his fault. But he didn’t he kept his thoughts and feelings to himself.
He kept the too, more, and most to himself. He couldn’t tell you, so why tell anyone? It was best held close to his heart like an unforgiving secret, one that if spilled would put a ripple in space and time. So it was a secret forever held behind the bars of heartbreak.
He tried peeling himself out of bed, wiping his face of old dried tears--he couldn't cry anymore so the saltwater stains on his cheeks were days old, or maybe weeks, Wilbur couldn't tell. It took him a few minutes to coax his aching and tired body to sit up at the least--and even more time to convince himself to turn his phone back on. Maybe he would regret doing so, maybe he wouldn’t but the only way to know was to just..do it. So he did, the screen on his phone lit up, the classic white apple illuminating his face as he waited there, his eyes glued to the screen as it booted up. A few seconds and five password attempts later, his phone was unlocked and in the sms app.
He gravitated towards the last messages with you, it didn't take much convincing for him to open it and when he did, it felt like a train hit him. All of the emotions—the regret, the pain—came flooding back to him.
The last message he ever got from you was "I love you". He mentally kicked himself for never saying it and he threw his phone down on his bed, regret bubbling up his throat and he pulled on his hair. Dry, pained sobs escape his chest and he's shaking. This is so stupid. I'm so stupid. His thoughts ran wild, taunting him, stabbing him. Looking him in the face and telling him how this is all his fault. It's all his fault. It has to be all his fault.
He begins shaking, pulling his legs up to his chest, and wraps his arms around his knees, shoving his face between them. No tears fall, and the sobs lessen, although no less painful than before. He tries to take deep breaths, pushing the image of your last message to him that's burned into his vision, further and further from his consciousness. If his brain can push every other bad memory away, why won't it hide this one? God, he's so stupid—what person forces themselves to face the one thing that tore them apart? Wilbur would be it. He is the one to do that and he regrets it.
His breathing slows to a steady pace, and he drops his hands from his hair. He wants to curl up inside himself and just shrivel up until he's nothing but particles in the air. And he wants to, he really wants to. But he promised himself he would go out today and do something helpful for himself. Maybe some fresh air would help.
Or maybe it'll just remind him of you
Either way, he needed out. His bed was beginning to feel claustrophobic and the walls of his room felt like they were closing in on him. Not to mention he hasn't showered in at least a week, and the last time he did shower, James had forced him and stood outside the bathroom door the entire way because he knew Wilbur would try and trick him.
He lifted his blankets and tossed them to the side, throwing his legs over the side of his bed and pushing himself up to stand. His legs wobbled for a moment in a lack of use and then he mindlessly brought himself to his dresser, grabbing a sweater and some jeans, and whatever else he needed before his legs brought him to the bathroom and he turned on the shower.
The water burned his skin but was somehow comforting in the way he turned red as the water hit him. It burned, but it was nice. It was an unfortunate reminder he was alive, and this was real. But perhaps, a cold shower would be even worse, so the reminder of his reality through burning hot water droplets on his skin was a much better alternative than cold ice water douching him in the painful realization of never being able to get you back.
That was worse than anything. That you were forever to never be his again.
It wasn't much longer that he stood under the hot water, and then he soon stepped out, hurriedly wrapping himself in a towel to avoid the chilling cold you always feel after a boiling shower. He doesn't bother to change whilst in the bathroom, but instead snatches his clothes from the cluttered sink counter and pulls open the door, bringing himself back to the warmth of his room while he slips on his clothes, his sweater being last after a T-Shirt underneath.
He knew that if he made any more contemplation over whether he should go outside or not, he'd never make it past his bedroom door. So he was quick in grabbing his keys and wallet before slipping out of his bedroom door followed by his apartment door. He quickly locked the door until it clicked and hurried down the stairs. The faster he got downstairs, the less time he had to rethink his decisions.
He's quick to push open the clear entrance door to his apartment building, passing by some of his neighbors he's never met and then he's out of the stuffy building. He's hit with a wave of wind, hitting the tip of his nose, and the cool scent warming him in calm comfort. It's nice to feel comfort again, it's so, so nice.
He stands there for a moment, taking in the cool, fresh air. To passersby, he looks like an idiot who's most likely high—but in reality, he's a broken man who hasn't left his house in weeks and feels he no longer has a purpose. Neither version is a good one, but what he really is, is much better than the alternative.
He pauses for a moment, taking in what's around him. Wilbur didn't think about what he was going to do past walking outside, so now he's stuck. Maybe he could go right back inside or maybe he—
There's a shadow of a person on the beach, or maybe it just looks like a shadow—but something about it draws him to it. Where the shadow seems to pace on the beach—the person-shaped shadow—isn't far from where he stands in front of his apartment building. He's curious, and the curiosity gets to him and he's hurriedly walking over to the stairs that lead down to the beach. He doesn't waste any time finding that damned shadow, he doesn't even know why he wants to know what it is, so badly. But he does, he really does and his hurried walking turns to jogging until he's full-out sprinting on the pebble beach, the saltwater-twisted air hitting his nose sharply.
The shadow becomes more and more of a human shape the closer he gets to it. And then he's a foot away. And the shadow turns around to face him. And it isn't a shadow anymore. It's a person. It's a fucking person. But it isn't just any person, no, no—it's you.
It's you. It's you. It's you. Oh god, it's you.
But you don't look…alive. You look dead, gone. You're practically transparent and he wonders if this is what it was like for people to see Ghostbur if the DreamSMP was real. Dear god, you're dead. Or are you? Maybe he's just hallucinating, maybe he spent too long in his flat and now his mind doesn't know what reality is and so it's tricking itself into believing you're here. But as a shadow.
He wants to run so badly but something keeps him angered onto the pebble-covered beach. Why can’t he stop looking at you? And why in all things good can he not move?
“Y/N,” It’s the only thing he utters, and it's broken and quiet in the way he says it.
You simply stare at him, his expression cracking and shattering in the same way his heart does all over again, and then you’re gone again. You simply poof into thin air.
He takes hours before he can drag himself back to his flat, and he still hasn’t figured out if what he saw was real or not--but he’d rather not dwell on that for now. He just needs to get back home, he didn't even bring his phone with him, who knows how many people have tried contacting him whilst he was on his..walk. You could call it a walk, that’s for sure.
The door is opened haphazardly, and he nearly bangs his head against the side of it, not noticing his surroundings. He takes the stairs, his steps slow and by no means careful, and then hes on his floor, dragging himself to his flat. He unlocks the door until it clicks and then beelines for his room and snatches his phone off his bed.
He has a few dozen messages from friends, some from his parents and brothers--but he ignores them all and goes straight to safari;
Y/N L/N obituary
He presses the search button and turns his phone screen away from himself, face down in his lap. Wilbur has been offline for weeks--anything could’ve happened--and who would tell him anyways? Plus, who’s to say what felt like weeks to him, hasn't been months?
A few moments later and with some reassurance from himself, he turns the screen back to face him and his eyes glance to the first result.
Y/N dead at 26, drowned at brighton beach
It’s dated four months ago.
But they broke up with him three weeks ago? You were alive mere weeks ago! How did this--how did this happen?
It was your ghost he saw, that much he knows.
You died.
God…
You’re dead.
Wilbur finds tears sliding down his cheeks, droplets plopping onto his phone screen and he pulls the sleeve of his sweater over his hand to wipe away the salty liquid from his face and he sniffles.
How didn’t he know? Why didn’t anyone tell him?
He should go back to the beach.
The beach sounds great…maybe he’ll find you again, maybe he can ask questions and get answers for all of the wonders wandering his mind.
That’s what he should do.
And so he does, but this time he takes a blanket and his phone with him.
It’s the same path as before but now he knows where he’s going when he steps outside and its dark now. The biting cold wind of dusk hits his face in a harsh sharpness, but he moves on and continues walking, blanket rested over his arm and head held up as he looks around for you.
He spots you on an old pier and is quick to follow you, walking up the crickety stairs, being slow and careful with his steps, cautious to not spook the ghost of you again. He has questions that need answers, and scaring you away does him no good.
He keeps walking to the edge of the pier, there aren’t any railings, and its entirely open. He stops when hes one to two feet away from you and he drops the blanket on the planks of wood below. He looks up from the ground, eyes meeting your shadowy figure slowly revealing details about you, although still transparent, you aren’t just a shadowy figure.
“Hello, love,” Wilbur is sure to put on a soft smile when he speaks, and you shake your head at him, looking down.
You look up, head tilting and bottom lip poking out as a taunt, “I’m not your love,”
“I--I know you’re dead but--”
“No,” is all you say, and then you’re gone again.
Wilbur wants to break down again, decompose, and scream and sob and cry. But instead, he just stands there in cowardice. He doesn’t move, he simply stands in silence. He finds himself walking towards the edge of the pier and then he sits down, legs dangling over the water.
He wonders what would---
No, Wilbur, no.
He recoils. Pulls his legs up. Backs away from the edge. He feels someone push him. He pushes back and tries to find the source of said force--it’s just him up here. But he keeps pushing against the force trying to knock him off and he’s doing a great job of it--until he doesn’t and then he’s plummeting down and he twists in the air as he falls and something in his mind speaks.
“Your end is the same as your love’s”
And then it's all black.
The next thing he knows he’s choking up water or what feels like choking up water. But he doesn’t feel like he’s in water and-- But hes awake? Alive? It feels dry around him but he still can’t see.
He tries crying out, his eyes practically glued shut and he can’t force them open.
He jolts up and his eyes shoot open, his eyes frantically search the room, it's dark and he can barely see anything and then he sees an outline of a person; you. But you’re dead! And he’s dead!
Or is he, or are you? He doesn’t know, he doesn’t know anything anymore.
The shadow-like figure--you, kneel down in front of him, hands on his shoulders and your features come into view; eyebrows knitted in concern, eyes wide with fear, and mouth agape with worry.
“Love,” You inch closer to him and he backs away in fear, breathing rapid and labored, “Are you okay?” You pull your hands away in response to his skittishness.
He shakes his head, “You’re supposed to be dead,” His voice is quiet and it cracks when he speaks like he hasn’t spoken in months.
“What?”
He just shakes his head and pulls his legs up to his chest, hiding the lower half of his face between his knees, eyes the only thing in vision and his gaze is locked on you--completely unwavering.
“I’m not going to hurt you, my darling,” You put your hand out as an offering and he takes it into consideration, eyeing it like it has the chance to burn him.
“You won’t leave?” Wilbur’s eyes glance to yours for a moment before refocusing back onto your offered hand.
You shake your head, a soft smile donning your lips, “Never,”
He utters a small ‘ok’ and takes your hand and a few moments later he catapults himself into your arms. Heavy sobs ricocheted out of his chest. Your arms wrap tightly around him, and his own arms do the same for you. The two of you sit there in silence, the only noises are of the fan set up in your room or the sound of his cries as you hold him.
“I love you,” His voice is soft, small but he means it. He means it so much more than you could know.
“I love you too, bur,” You place a kiss on his temple, your hand reaching to tangle with his hair, “so, so much,”
He hums in response and another silence blankets the two of you in comfortable warmth, and then you’re the one to break it this time;
“What happened?”
He shrugs, “So much,”
You rest your chin atop his head, one hand playing with his hair and the other rubbing his back, “Wanna talk about it?”
He shakes his head, “No,” He pauses, gears turning in his head as he mulls over what to say next, “I love you more, by the way,”
A small, joyous laugh escapes your throat, “And I love you most.”
The two of you spend the rest of the evening like that, in each other's arms, muttering reassurances of your love for the other--and eventually, he tells you of all he’s experienced. And you feel horrible, your heart aches for him but you’re happy he’s in your arms now.
And he smiles.
He knows you’re not going anywhere and he knows you love him too, more, and most.
Being Brave
TBB!Echo x plus size!reader (gn) (platonic)
Warnings: reader & Echo have body insecurities, a bit of swearing, a teensy bit of angst but mostly fluff, smoking weed
Word count: 1.4k
a/n: I’ve been wanting to write about Echo for a hot minute, so here it is!
a/n 2: why is writing dialogue so difficult??? or is it just me?
Tumblr media
It was a particularly beautiful day on Pabu, so the batch decided to go swimming. You had met Omega at the market one day, who’d invited you to eat a meal with her and her brothers that evening. From then on, when you weren’t doing your job as one of the teachers for Pabu’s small school, you could reliably be found with the batch. It took a little bit for them to warm up to you, especially Crosshair, but even he came around eventually. However, someone who’d always enjoyed having you around was Echo.
He was always warm and friendly to you, asking you about your day and how work was going. He was one of the kindest people you’d ever met, and you loved being around him. Even if it was just the two of you cleaning the house, the work always seemed easier and the time went faster when you were there.
Echo had stopped by your house earlier this morning, waking you up with a small knock on the door, asking if you wanted to join them for a day out. You didn’t have to work that day, so you agreed and told him you’d meet up with them later. However, as you stood in front of your dresser, you found yourself stuck. It just hit you that he said they were going swimming. As in, wearing swim-appropriate attire, sticking your body in the water, and swimming. Now, you knew how to swim; virtually everyone on the island knew. That wasn’t the issue. The issue was what to wear. You knew you were heavier than most people. It usually didn’t present itself as too much of an issue; you would just hide behind large, baggy clothing. However, that wasn’t really possible when going in the water would make your clothing stick to you like a second skin.
Frozen with anxiety and insecurity, your mind raced. What should I wear? Should I put on clothing overtop of my swim stuff and take it off, or just wrap a towel around me? No, I need more coverage. Plus, I don’t want anyone making fun of me. Getting overwhelmed, you considered calling Echo and letting him know something had come up last minute, or that you weren’t feeling well. But before you could flesh the idea out well enough, your comm trilled.
“Hey, is everything okay?” you heard Echo ask. Lifting the comm to your mouth, you quickly responded, “Yeah, umm… Yeah, I’ll be right out! Just… give me a minute.”
“Are you okay? You don’t sound well,” he questioned. “You know, as much as we’d love to spend time with you, please don’t feel like you’re being forced to go. If you’re not up to it, that’s completely fine.”
You thought for a moment, almost hearing disappointment in his voice, and came up with a solution. “I’ll be down in a few, okay? I just need to grab some food.
“Already got some. I made sure to pack the good stuff, too,” he assured. Damn, he was good. “See you soon.”
-----
As you worked your way down to the beach, you saw Omega and Wrecker splashing around in the water, with Hunter, Tech, and Crosshair swimming and chatting peacefully a short distance away. Echo, however, was busy unpacking the food. He turned his head and saw you, beckoning you over. You sat down next to him, eyeing up what he’d packed.
“Hey, you made it! I was starting to worry about you,” he joked.
“Yeah, I made it,” you said, a bit preoccupied.
“Well, you gonna head in? It feels especially nice today,” he said, gesturing towards the crystal clear water in front of you.
“Actually, I’m not really feeling up to swimming today,” you admitted.
“Why not? If you don’t mind my asking, that is,” Echo added. You sat there for a moment, pulling your shirt away from your body before dropping your hand to play with the blanket underneath you. Sensing your hesitation, he placed his hand on top of yours, seeming to understand your reservations.
“I get it. Let’s just say… there’s a reason I’m not in there with everyone else, and it’s not just because the salt in the water sometimes interferes with my prosthetics,” he said quietly. If anyone would understand being insecure with their own body, it made sense to you that Echo would be on that list. Feeling embarrassed and slightly guilty, you apologized, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring up bad memories. I’ll be fine, trust me.”
“No, don’t do that. Not with me,” Echo asserted, squeezing your hand lightly. “You don’t have to push everything down and pretend like you’re feeling great just because you don’t want to be a burden to someone else. You’re not a burden, your feelings matter, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, especially when it comes to your body.” He paused for a bit before continuing, “and if anyone gives you a hard time, let me know. Let’s just say I throw a hell of a left hook, if you know what I mean,” he winked.
You took a deep breath before squeezing his hand back. “Thanks Echo, I really needed to hear that.” It didn’t make your insecurities go away completely, and he knew that as much as you did. “I want to love myself, but it’s really difficult. It just seems like such a big thing to do, especially when it’s something I’ve struggled with for so long.”
“Well, yeah, it’s difficult. But most things in life worth doing are difficult. Sometimes all it takes is one moment of being brave. Doing something that may seem small and insignificant, but if it’s something that helps you love yourself, then it’s worth doing,” he offered. You chewed on that for a moment before he called everyone else over to eat.
Once everyone was done eating and ready to go back into the water, Wrecker grabbed a boulder and placed it in a shallow part of the water so you and Echo could sit on it and be able to hang out with everyone else. The rest of the day went smoothly, and you had lots of fun, but you couldn’t get what Echo said out of your head. Sometimes all it takes is one moment of being brave… if it’s something that helps you love yourself, then it’s worth doing. You wondered what that one moment would look like for you.
-----
Later that night, after you’d gone back home and eaten dinner, you sat there, once again stewing on Echo’s advice. Then it hit you: maybe you weren’t ready to go swimming with other people, but what’s to stop you from going swimming on your own? It wasn’t much, but it would be a step in the right direction.
You went over to your dresser once again, but this time, you were confident. More at peace. You grabbed your swim stuff, put it on, then threw on some clothing over it so that you wouldn’t stick out- not that there were too many people out and about this late, but still. You grabbed a towel as well, and a small snack and a water bottle, threw it into a bag, and set off.
As you were headed down to the small beach you’d been to earlier, you passed by the batch’s house where Echo and Hunter were sharing a joint. “What’re you up to so late?” Echo asked.
“Isn’t it past your bedtime?” you joked, knowing that Echo typically got up in the morning (and went to bed at night) pretty early. Hunter laughed, and Echo chuckled a bit, too, before repeating his question.
You stood there for a moment before responding, “I’m being brave.”
He gave you a knowing smile, before you headed off towards your destination. Once you got to the water, you set your stuff on the beach, shucking off your clothing and wading into the shallows. Once you got a bit deeper, you dunked your head under the water, bringing it up and wiping the water out of your eyes. You laughed, feeling proud of yourself. It hadn’t been easy, getting to this point, but with Echo’s support, you did it. Speaking of Echo, as you looked back towards the island, you could see him watching you from the cliff above the beach. You waved, and he waved back before setting off and giving you some privacy. You were beyond grateful for his support, and vowed to support him when he needed it as well.
A Wish of Something Good
Pairing: Zuko x Katara
Word Count: 1785
Synopsis: Katara finds Firelord Zuko in his mother’s garden. (My apologies, I am absolutely terrible at writing synopses) OR Zuko, pressured by council members to marry a quiet Fire Nation girl, does not want to. (that sounds better lol)
Warnings: None. PIning. Angst. Fluff.
A/N: This short little fic was inspired by the beautiful piece of art below by @beanaroony (: It got me writing again after several months so I really appreciate it! This was originally gonna be A LOT sadder with no happy ending, but I’m a sucker for happy endings and apparently can’t write sad ones lol :D Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Katara had fallen asleep next to him. A natural occurrence when she came to visit. All Zuko had to do to get her there was tell her his chest was hurting again from Azula’s attack. It was a lie, but it got her next to him within a week - two, at most. He couldn’t help but think she had to know it was a ruse. Right? She was the healer. She had to know there was nothing left to heal.
But she was leaving and Zuko was certain his heart couldn’t take the months long separation again. It tore him apart when she left each time. The hole was becoming a chasm, never truly healing from the other times she went away.
Frustrated, he slipped out of bed, only turning back once he was closing the door to make sure Katara hadn’t awoke. Once at his mother’s garden, where the turtle-ducks liked to play, did he stop. It was a quiet night with only the sounds of the ocean waves in the distance. For a moment, he stared at the flowers Katara planted. Moon flowers. A difficult flora to grow in the brightness of the Fire Nation's capital. But if anyone were to successfully plant them, it would be her. He sighed, a smile playing at his lips with the thought. When a quick look of his surroundings proved he was the only one around, Zuko pulled a small weight out of his pocket.
It had been burning a hole there for months, but it never left his person. A constant weight - constant reminder - of what he could never have. The necklace seemed heavy in his palm. A glass stone made of lightning and sand on the beach of Ember Island was settled in molten lava rock of his volcanic home. Glued together by his own fire. The pendant hung from silky swirls of red and blue to honor both his and her homelands.
He could never give it to her. Not in the way he wanted. And there was no way he could ask her to replace her mother’s she currently wore around her neck.
With another, much heavier sigh, he pocketed it, unable to look at it without simultaneously wanting to hurl it into the ocean. Where it would be lost forever. Never to be found again.
With a deep breath of chilly night air, Zuko settled into his firebending kata only to leave it unfinished, too tired to go through the movements. He sat down in the grass, picking at the blades as his thoughts swirled.
HIs council was pushing him to marry a nice, quiet, Fire Nation girl that wouldn’t distract him from ruling. But he didn’t want that. He wanted-
“Zuko?” Katara’s voice sounded relieved and Zuko couldn’t help but think how much different it was now compared to the old days when she said his name. Full of disdain, hate, and disappointment. Full of fear for what he would become. Fear of what he could be. “What are you doing out here?” She stepped closer, a breathy giggle escaping. “I know you wake up with the sun, but even this is too early for you.”
He stayed silent, allowing her settle down next to him, knees and shoulders bumping as she sat down and rested her head on his shoulder. A heavy, burdened breath seemed to leave her body as she melted closer to his warmth, arm looping through his as she hummed, satisified. She would fall asleep like that. He knew, because she had done so a dozen times before. A closed-lipped smile couldn’t be stopped even if he tried. It was a sad thing. To love his best friend. To have her so close and so far away at the same time. To be able to touch her, but not have her. He grimaced, wishing it was simpler. Wishing he could have this one thing - this one bright spot in his life - after everything they had been through. They deserved happiness, right? He deserved something good after all the bad.
Was he good enough for her, though? Could he ask her to stay with him? In this place that must remind her of all the bad memories of her childhood. Of her mother being taken away at such a young age. Of the destruction his people caused in her homeland. Zuko couldn’t possibly hope for-
“Don’t go,” he rasped, the words were passed his lips before he could stop them. His screaming heart pounded in victory. His mind felt betrayed.
“What,” her head popped up, forever blue eyes bore into his own.
He swallowed, knowing he wouldn’t be able to stop now. He glanced away, “Stay.”
“Zuko-”
He hopped up, lost energy suddenly found in this moment of uncertainty. He stepped away toward the turtle-duck pond, anxiety needing a way out. He didn’t notice the necklace as it fell beside his friend with a light thud. The red and blue clashed with the grass. The glass glinted in the moonlight. There was no way for her not to see it.
Gently, she picked it up, hands shaking as blood rushed in her ears, letting the silence reign. She didn’t know much about the rituals of engagement for the Fire Nation, but she did know only the Water Tribes used necklaces. She couldn’t believe her eyes. She wanted to believe this was for her. She wanted that more than she needed to breathe. But the truth was, Zuko could’ve made this for anybody. She knew the pressures he was facing from his council to get married. Knew this could be for a different girl. Maybe one of the girls from the Northern Tribe he had met when they were there for negotiations. They were pretty and refined. Perfect for what he needed to tie up any loose ends between them. Perfect to show he meant peace. Not like her, who was outspoken. Hard where they were soft from all her time honing her fighting skills. And her little Southern Village meant nothing compared to the elegance of the Northern Tribe. They had little to offer the Fire Nation in terms of supplies and soldiers Zuko may need in a future ally. While her tribe was mostly made of children and older women, with very few people who could fight, let alone waterbend.
Katara let those bitter thoughts settle in her stomach before she spoke up, voice barely a whisper, “You dropped this.” She slowly stood, eyes cast down, unable to face the man before her.
Zuko’s head snapped in her direction so fast his entire body whirled with it. A few urgent strides had him standing so close he could feel her body heat. She held it out to him like it wasn’t hers. He didn’t move to take it. Afraid that if he did, she would be gone from his life forever. Never to be seen again.
“You don’t like it?” The words weren’t precisely what he meant to say, but they were out, floating between what little space was between them.
Clutching it tight, she let her arm fall, spinning so Zuko wouldn’t catch the tears starting to stream down her cheeks, “It’s beautiful.” She hoped her voice didn’t sound as shaky as it felt. She closed her eyes tight in a failed attempt to keep them at bay.
Zuko couldn’t believe his ears. She liked the necklace he made her. She thought it was beautiful-
“Who’s it for?” Her words stopped his heart. “She’s very luck-”
His arms, with a mind of their own, wrapped around her waist, “Katara-”
She struggled in his hold. Sniffles rose to his ears and his arms turned to steel, pulling her back against his chest. As much as he feared and admired her waterbending, he was not allowing her to leave this conversation. Not before his heart got to say what it wanted. Then he would let her go. Then he would let her leave. Even if it meant forever.
“Katara,” he rested his chin on her shoulder and she froze, stiff as a board. He took a moment to memorize her scent of seawater and sand before he said the words he could never take back, “I made that for you.”
“For me?” She relaxed slightly, voice breathy, eyes opening to look at the pendant through her blurry, tear-filled vision.
“If you want it,” he replied. She stayed silent and unmoving, worrying him. “That is- It doesn’t have to- It’s a gift. I don’t expect you to- But I would like it. I mean, love it. I would love it if- I love-” Zuko loosened his hold, ready to give up his incoherent babbling when she latched onto his arm and pulled it close.
An exhale rattled through her chest and he pulled her impossibly closer, steadying her. She relaxed completely, allowing her weight to settle against him, soaking in his strength.
“When?” Katara was thankful her quiet voice didn’t falter.
“Months ago.”
“Months?” She still wasn’t brave enough to turn around and look Zuko in the eye, as much as she wanted to. This - the necklace, his love - wasn’t quite real yet. “But I thought the council-”
“I don’t want what the council wants,” his voice was strong and steady as he continued to hold her. “I don’t need what the council thinks I need.”
Zuko sounded so certain to her ears, she couldn’t help but twist in his hold to get a good look at him. He let her, golden gaze searing her own, a question left unspoken between them.
“I need you, Katara,” he said, voice reverent. “I need someone who will tell me when I’ve become too overbearing. Who will fight me for what’s right when I’m wrong. Who won’t let me get power-hungry,” a small smile graced his lips before his voice turned to a serious whisper, “Someone who won’t let me become my father-”
“You would never-”
“Someone,” he interrupted, knowing she meant well, but also knowing that man’s blood still flowed through his veins, no matter how hard he wanted to deny it. “Someone I love.” He let that sink in, watching as the miracle of Katara’s uncertain gaze turned into unbridled joy. “Not some quiet girl who won’t speak her mind.”
“Then help me put this on,” Katara held out the necklace.
“I don’t expect you to replace your mother’s-”
“Shh,” she stopped him with a finger to his lips, smiling uncontrollably. “She will always live in my heart, Zuko. But I think this,” she glanced at the swirling red and blue ribbon, the fragile glass held steady by the sturdy volcanic rock. “This suits me better, don’t you think?”
