"My Touchstone": the Turning Point
Dedicated to the anon who asked:
I would love to hear your thoughts on how the “touchstone” conversation changed Mulder and Scully’s relationship. Was it this scene that propelled them into a romantic relationship?
To answer that question, I have to back up a bit to Fight the Future. Actually, let's back up even further-- to the cancer arc-- so we can get a clearer picture of the relationship between these two Avoidants (post here.)
FORWARD AND BACKWARD
Mulder realizes the extent of his feelings for Scully in Memento Mori.
I posit Scully's already known her feelings since at least early Season 2; but her temperament leads her to suppress, rather than express, emotional wants or needs. Never Again (posts here and here) was the result of both Season 3's on-and-off jealousy and Mulder's avoidance of a normal life (Home, post here) and search for his tragic soulmate (The Field Where I Died.) Because of this, Scully tries to pinpoint and grapple with her "endless line", realizing-- too late-- that she wanted recognition (and more) from Mulder (as spelled out in the script, here.) Mulder realizes this, too, and lets the matter drop.
For Scully, it's advantageous to keep everything unsaid, largely because Mulder isn't ready... for anything, really (as discussed in the Home post linked above, and demonstrated by this clip.) Everything he's been drawn to or attracted by has an ephemeral, fleeting resemblance to some other normalcy he craves (post here)-- but has never, ever lasted. Except Scully.
So, Mulder realizes his feelings, Scully escapes cancer by the skin of her teeth, and we arrive at Detour... where he runs from the motel, chasing after his monster case.
Some read this moment as Mulder realizing and dodging Scully's intentions, others that he was completely blind to her intentions. I file it as the latter; but we also have ample evidence of Mulder noticing Scully's actions briefly before losing focus in favor of another tantalizing mystery (ex. the beginning of The Unnatural.) He misses the forest for the trees in his personal life-- or rather, he doesn't see the value in fixating on it beyond a few superficial check-ins here and there (we'll get to that.) Scully's always by his side, they have the work, he wants answers, why change? It's the same question he asks her in other contexts (ex. "Why now? Why Boggs?" in Beyond the Sea.)
Season 5 continues. It's a rough year for Mulder (post here.) And for Scully: The End is another episode on a pile of episodes where she feels she's "failed" Mulder, leading to her dispirited goodbye in FTF.
Thus, we arrive at Fight the Future: the moment that forces Mulder to make a confession or lose Scully. To him, her importance was never in question; but the hard part is admitting how broken he feels without her. He was afraid to do more in their partnership because... what would happen if things changed? His fear is rooted in the "What if?", and holds him back from a course of action. Scully's fear is rooted in "Did I choose right?", and manifests after she decides on a course of action (A Christmas Carol's doubts after joining the FBI, Never Again after four years in, all things after the Season of Secret Sex, etc.)
Despite the good that came from his hallway, Mulder's greatest fear is realized when Scully nearly dies after he confesses he needs her. This kicks him into retreat mode (post here)-- "go be a doctor", he tells her. It's Scully who says, "I can't", and clings to his hand, who refuses to give up. That is important, because it's another example of how reliant on Scully Mulder is, to the detriment of his own growth, at times.
Mulder takes her words to mean that Scully is unflinchingly by his side-- which is true. What isn't is his next assumption: that they're on the same page.
They're not, really.
THE IMPORTANCE OF SEASON 6
In The Beginning, Scully hasn't felt the need to change-- she's a scientist, she needs proof-- but she hasn't confronted and overcome her unnecessary doubts, either. Mulder, meanwhile, demonstrates he hasn't changed, either-- and, more importantly, how far removed he is still if from a functioning relationship... as Scully suspected. Hurt that she didn't back him up before their superiors-- which resulted in them losing the files-- he hides behind frustration and anger. Scully feels rejected, and lo and behold! Diana appears; and wins back some ground with Mulder while Scully loses Gibson Praise. By the end of the episode, Mulder doesn't want to cosign to Scully's theory because her science, he thinks, betrayed them before. And lo and behold! It kind of did. But it didn't this time, when it's too late.
Where does that place them early Season 6? As an enclosed unit, with Mulder pillaging the basement-- without consulting Diana-- and sneaking off on his own or taking Scully with him on his misadventures. For all that could be wrong between them, a lot is still right; and both put in the effort to include and watch out for the each other.
Then Two Fathers and One Son (posts here, here, and here) shakes them apart: Mulder doesn't want to believe yet another ally is using and manipulating him; but gives in and goes to investigate Diana when Scully threatens to walk if he doesn't listen to her. He's speared in the Achilles Heel, however-- fatalism in the face of the inevitable-- and almost gives up completely before Scully yells him back from the brink. This happens again in Amor Fati; but he finally learns his lesson there. Scully is visibly angry with him at the end of the episode... and then we have the next few episodes as if nothing happened.
Agua Mala completely resolves their festering from One Son (yes, it's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it resolution; and, yes, I need to sit down and write that out sometime) and propels them into their old-- dare I say, lighthearted-- routine and banter (i.e. Monday, Arcadia, etc.)
An important side note: To accurately place where Mulder and Scully were romantically during this period, we have to figure out if there was lingering tension post One Son. The facts simply don't support that narrative. We see in Arcadia that Scully was enjoying herself at first-- only brushing Mulder off initially when he used her as part of his schmaltzy facade (during their arrival)-- until her partner began poking at her, too (posts here), to maintain distance between them (post here.) We see in Alpha (posts here) that their banter was fun and lighthearted until she found out Mulder kept information relevant to that case from her; and that that information was yet another woman he wanted her to trust without question because he did. (Regardless, she still looked out for his best interests and sympathized with him after Karin's death.) We are shown in Milagro (posts here) that her tops are dropping lower and lower in an unconscious desire to grab Mulder's attention; but more importantly, that Mulder still hasn't considered her in all the ways Dana Katherine Scully exists. Yet, tension only arises when Scully feels overlooked, not displaced-- a creeping of her old assumptions and Mulder's missed signals in Never Again 2.0, not a minimization of her value ala One Son. We see in The Unnatural that she's survived Padgett and is setting subtlety aside for the first time in their relationship; so no tension there at all.
In short, we see Scully moving on and wanting Mulder to move on with her, too... and Mulder either not getting the hint outright (the beginning of Arcadia and Milagro), or getting distracted by the next shiny case instead, despite her efforts (Alpha, The Unnatural.)
The Unnatural: stage one of Mulder's mature development (and you can thank David Duchovny for each of these stages, by the way.) I.e. Detour with unmistakably romantic overtures, in case Mulder missed them the first time (which seems to be a pattern for Scully: near death, survival, resolution, and overtures.) Mulder would have to be thick to miss her obvious flirting, but he still loses himself in another x-file and runs off to badger Arthur Dales about it-- meaning, at this point, Scully has his attention, but not his full attention. Scully takes this as a matter of course-- because that's how Mulder's been from Season 1 (i.e. The Jersey Devil's "Unlike you, Mulder, I would like to have a life"/"I have a life.") However, Mulder finally learns "the mystery of the heart"; and decides to test this out with Scully on the baseball field. It's a small, small, small step because he's not used to this "normal", this appreciation for small, perhaps insignificant things. More to the point, he's probably afraid to do more-- was afraid she wouldn't even show up, per his expression; and will be afraid to follow-up, per his actions in Amor Fati and Millennium. But he did it; and Scully knew what Mulder was meaning to demonstrate ("Shut up, Mulder, I'm playing baseball.), as Duchovny intended.
So, where does that take us? The IVF arc, of course (post here.) It's a failure, splat (or not a part of some fans' canon); and that keeps up moving rapidly along to the next beat in their relationship.
Field Trip. Oh, boy. Field Trip: the episode that prepares both agents for the foundational upheaval of the Biogenesis-Amor Fati arc. Scully can't solely rely on her pat scientific rationalizations; and Mulder doesn't trust her blind loyalty and belief. And both are undeniably coded as a couple throughout their "trip." The main takeaway from this experience is that they doubt themselves more than they doubt each other; and their doubts in each other pale in comparison to their unshakeable trust.
MY TOUCHSTONE
That leads us neatly to Biogenesis-Amor Fati... which we shall mostly skip for brevity's sake, as this arc accomplishes very little (despite its exorbitant screen time.)
Diana shows up, but has to admit Mulder has been asking for Scully "since last night." The barb doesn't land for Scully (while the implication highly amuses Skinner, post here); and after their resolution in Season 6-- Milagro and The Unnatural and the IVF arc and, most recently, Field Trip-- she remains unshaken in her conviction of Mulder's loyalty. She flies to Africa, touches the baby-restorer ship, and accomplishes... very little before flying back and finding out Tena has turned her son over to CSM.
Mulder, meanwhile, is stuck in dreamland. @cecilysass wrote an incredible post on the topic here; and @jaspertedd and @deathsbestgirl's theories-- that Mulder's dreams are influenced by those around him (post here)-- are interesting and pertinent additions. If true, that speaks to a deeper hole in Mulder's psyche he's yet to repair: doubting himself so much so that the influence of others takes precedence over his conscience. We've seen that before many times (one of which is Diana's manipulation in One Son, another of which was CSM's temptation in Redux II); but in each case, it was Scully-- a stronger moral barometer-- that kept him back or influenced his courage in the right direction. Mulder doesn't need to borrow her conscience, just her strength to act on his own.
"You were my constant, my touchstone"/"And you are mine" speaks volumes about where these characters are.
Mulder needed to accurately see that a life, a world where he was handed all his answers and given atonement for all his trespasses was empty and shallow without Scully. He needed, further, to shake off that side of himself that would rather wallow than fight, that put Scully in a position, over and over again, to save his life (Demons) or to talk him back from the edge (The Ghosts That Stole Christmas, though a mirage, was based in a truth.) For Mulder, Amor Fati is the crest of a long, arduous hill that took him decades to climb; and now tips him down, at last, towards maturity, self-actualization, and closure.
Scully needed to come to a different, frightening realization: that the cornerstones of her beliefs might be built on lies, too. She needed to open her mind to possibilities that challenged or even betrayed her beliefs-- to overcome the fear inside that was still inflicting self-doubt. For Scully, Amor Fati was the beginning of the end of her security in "the facts"-- but one that gave her the opportunity to step away from "the tried and true" in order to find herself: her intuition, and her happiness.
"You were my constant, my touchstone"/"And you are mine" is the verbalization of their mutual revelations.
THE END FOR MULDER, THE BEGINNING FOR SCULLY
Amor Fati, for Mulder, was a Part 2 to Redux II and a do-over for One Son: he was confronted by his conscience and learned, once again, to stand by it. But not alone, not yet. For Scully, it was the beginning of her journey, one that culminates in all things (post here.) Her relationship struggles aren't rooted in an upfront fear about moving forward in a relationship-- only what comes after, a pattern in all her relationships and major life decisions (post here.)
Yet, Mulder doesn't make a move in his hallway-- doesn't even try-- after his touchstone speech. Why?
Because Scully was overwhelmed and conflicted and needed space to work through her (Diana-adjacent) guilt-- the same feelings he'd battled with throughout Season 4 and 5: failing and failing and failing. With a little space and a little time for him to recover and a little case thrown in to get her back on track (Hungry), their equilibrium is reestablished.
And that leads us to Millennium and the Season of Secret Sex.
It's Mulder who initiated his confession in Fight the Future, it's Mulder who invited her to play ball under the stars, and it's Mulder who affirmed she was his touchstone; so, it's Mulder who initiates their first kiss. Scully continues to hold herself in a waiting position-- standing at attention, Starbuck-style, until her captain makes the first move (something that all things shifts, as well)-- but all bets are off when he does. Mulder's first step initiates all her ensuing ones: jealously knocking into him in and playing with his tie in Rush, teasing about all being "right with the world" when they (hypothetically) return home in The Goldberg Variation, and each and every fond ribbing she tosses his way. There's a resolution between the two that isn't shaken until En Ami's trickery (which... was a topic all its own, post here) and all things's doubts.
Then we arrive at Closure. This episode is the resolution to Mulder's character arc-- not only because he found his sister and, effectively, laid her to rest, but because he learned to trust to her happy ending without needing Scully to believe him. For the first time, he exercises a "conscience", if you will, separately from Scully-- she is his touchstone, still, but not his whole being. A monumental change from Redux II and Folie a Deux and Fight the Future: then, it was "I knew you'd tell me if I was making a mistake" and "no one else" on earth believes him and "I don't want to do this alone. I don't even know if I can." Now, she remains his touchstone, his realignment; but he can stand on his own two feet without curling into whatever shape will earn him love from others.
all things is to Scully what Closure was to Mulder. Her touchstone claimed her as his in Amor Fati; and Scully thought this meant Mulder promised to always be there when she navigated strange waters... and then he ditches her for crop circles in England. Mulder doesn't understand why she's making a big deal of weekend work now instead of every weekend before; and the two separate in not bad but not great spirits (ala Never Again.) Feeling adrift, Scully runs into Daniel Waterston, and we know what happens from there. In short, all things forces Scully to have distance from Mulder's influence-- as Amor Fati had forced him from her-- in order to choose, with a clear conscience, if this path, this touchstone, is the right one for her. all things finally sets her free from her inhibitions: she guides Mulder back to their apartment and lets him ramble on and on without feeling displaced or devalued by his split focus.
Scully wouldn't be driven to this crossroads and its resolution had not Mulder calmed her self-reproach and claimed her as his "touchstone", allowing her to come back to and lean on that truth in her darkest hours. As we know, she's always relied on Mulder's strength-- Irresistible, Memento Mori, Elegy, etc.-- but had yet to rely on her own. all things, finally, guides her into her own strength and abilities.
COULD A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THEM HAVE WORKED BEFORE?
Realistically, anything can work with enough dedication and elbow grease (from both parties.) But, actually factually, the reciprocity needed for an intimate relationship wouldn't have been equal until after Mulder's return from "another life, another world." While they loved each other, Mulder's mercurial ways would wear on Scully's security, and Scully's sudden doubts and distance would dig Mulder's insecurities deeper in.
Mulder, the FBI profiler, was more strongly aware of this than Scully; while Scully, the scientific medical doctor, was more alertly aware of Mulder's constant retreat and instability than her own conflicting, distancing, brewing emotions. He had to learn to stand on his own two feet: a man who railed against the sky and stood up to his superiors and welcomed an existence as a pariah; and who would crumble the instant love was offered then revoked. She had to learn to trust her own instincts: a woman who rigidly tried to rein in her insecurities through facts and detached logical thinking; and who would implode with doubt the instant someone she respected or trusted questioned her decisions or intuition.
Could it or would it have worked? Yes, I think so. But Mulder and Scully were, I believe, happiest to begin a relationship when they did, on their own terms. They needed to be each other's touchstone first, not his "one-in-five-billion" or her "strength."
Partners, in all things.
CONCLUSION
"My touchstone" was the awakening for both: of how far Mulder had come, and much farther Scully had to go. Moreover, it solidified the nature of their relationship: unshakeable reliance and dependable trust, even if the whole world was (is) falling apart.
In short, Anon? Yes.
Thanks for reading~
Enjoy!

Chuuya was used to the stares he got when out in public. He knew that he was handsome, he knew that he looked good and that his eyes were indeed mesmerizing. But Chuuya did not pay attention to any of that. He was used to refusing any invitation that came his way from women. Why? Because he had you. He only had eyes for his girlfriend, soon to be fiancee and wife in his books, so any other attention he was receiving was unwanted from his part.
He always made sure to also show that to you so you wouldn't have any reason to doubt him or any concerns regarding where you were standing in his life. Although, he would be a liar if he said he didn't like when you got a bit jealous, on your good days. On the days when you were down and insecurities were eating you alive on the other hand, he would want nothing more than to print in your mind and heart that you had nothing to worry about.
"Chu, can I keep you locked up in your penthouse?"
Your voice purred, a slight tinge of annoyance present. He chuckled, taking a sip from his coffee. You two were out on a coffee date, not really to his liking, but you were eager to have some of the experiences you have missed in highschool or college so who was he to deny it?
" That, my love, is difficult to do. Mori would not allow it. But other than that, as long as I am with you I can stay in the bed, cuddling with you all my life for all I care. Why? "
" I don't particularly like how girls are ogling you today." You pouted and looked around, seeing some heads turning when they met your eyes. " I swear to God, it's like you're enchanting them and you're the only man they see. Not that I can totally blame them, but damn, I..." You stopped yourself before letting more of your frustration spill and just puffed.
Chuuya became serious, he would hate for you to suddenly become self-conscious about something because of others.
" If you want, we can take our coffee and go. But you do know I am only yours and even if they stare, it is not like I'm magically swapped away from you, right? I'm yours, doll face."
You scoffed, surprising Chuuya
"Of course you're mine. What bothers me is that they're totally ignoring the fact that you're with a girl besides you. I'm right fucking here and they look at you like they'd fuck you right here or at best in the bathroom. Even the waitress put her number on the fucking napkin"
Chuuya almost choked on his drink hearing you. This was a different reaction from what he expected. So you're feisty jealous today. He was still debating if he was going to like it, as it could still go horribly wrong and make you spiral in a self depreciating episode.
" Darling..."
" You know what, I've had enough." You suddenly got up, startling your boyfriend, surprising him when you just pulled him by the collar of his jacket and smashed your lips on his. His eyes wide open, he needed a few seconds until he reciprocated and with one hand cupped your cheek, the other one he put on your tight to make sure you would not fall over from losing your balance.
" That should teach them to stop staring at someone else's man." You huffed, sitting back in your place, leaving a flustered and surprised Chuuya to look at you. " What?!"
" Oh, absolutely nothing, I just realized how much I enjoy being yours and yours alone. Fuck, doll, you definitely look hot when you're jealous"
" If you plan to make me jealous on purpose, I'm breaking up with you, just so you know", you responded slightly embarrassed but your sudden possessiveness that took over you.
"I wouldn't dare to do something like that, you know damn well that I'm yours only. But you're really something else, aren't ya?"
You just gave your lover a side eye, making him laugh. God, he did love being yours and having you as his girlfriend. Maybe this coffee date wasn't such a terrible idea. And maybe, just maybe, you've grown just a little more reassured that he was too head over heels when it came about you, to have time to worry about the gazes he received from anyone else but you.

Could you write little scenerios for the host club characters where their s/o is in the hospital coming off of anesthesia and says cute things that make the hosts fall more in love with them? If not that's okay!
VERY OLD ASK AND VERY OLD WRITING BC I LOST MY PASSWORD A BAZILLION YEARS AGO 😭🙏
we’re so back though
haruhi, tamaki, kyoya, and takashi x reader || fluff || warnings: hospital setting? idk
Haruhi Fujioka
She enters your hospital room as soon as she’s allowed to.
“Haruhiiii!” You exclaim in joy as soon as you see her.
“Hey, y/n! How do you feel? she sits at your bedside and smiles warmly.
“Better now that you’re hereee!” you shoot her the biggest grin you could muster.
You stretch your tired legs and rub the sleep from your eyes before looking up at Haruhi once again.
“You look extra pretty today, thank you for visiting me!"
I don’t think she’s ever blushed harder in her LIFE
She’d typically nudge your shoulder playfully and tell you to stop, but she doesn’t wanna hurt you, so she just rolls her eyes with a smile
Tamaki Suoh
He was too busy moping in a corner to realize that you were finally allowing visitors, so he was the last to see you
He’d run up to you all goofy like and be a silly loud boy
“Y/NNNNNN”
…just to get scolded by your nurse LMAO
“y/nnnnnnnn” he’d say (now whispering while speed walking to you)
You tried really hard to stifle your laughter, but you couldn’t help it.
He’s like a…weird little ray of sunshine
“Hi Tamaki!”
He’d instantly go beet red just from hearing your sleepy voice, but that smile of yours?
Goodness me, you’d be lucky if he didn’t blast off into space LOLOLOL
He’d scamper out of the room without another word
You can’t help but chuckle at his antics
“Come back, sillyyyy!”
He’d peak his head through the door frame
“Please?” you’d say with a pout
Tamaki’s heart rate is suddenly 180.
He’d return to your side without second thought
You’d reach out and grab his hand so he can’t leave again
Kyoya Ootori
He’s your first visitor
In fact, he’s in the room before you’re even awake
Something about his father owning the hospital yada yada
He’s really drawn to the peaceful expression on your face
He was worried, but he’d never verbally admit it
Once he notices that you’re waking up, he’s sure to greet you
“Good morning Y/N. How do you feel?” His voice is uncharacteristic soft, lacking it’s usual smugness.
“Huh?” you say with a yawn “what are you doing here?”
He’d smile with a trace of fondness in his softening eyes
“What does it look like? I’m obviously visiting you.”
You can’t help but sigh and roll your eyes.
“You’re so silly, Kyo..”
You rub the sleep out of your eyes, conveniently missing the tinge of pink on his face.
Takashi Morinozuka
He stood guard outside of your room for HOURS
He said it was to protect you? But there wasn’t really anything to protect you from.
He didn’t wanna admit it, he just wanted to see you as soon as possible.
Once you were permitted visitors, he was naturally the first one in there.
He held your hand tenderly in his own. His caresses were feather light, like he was afraid your hand would snap if he wasn’t extremely careful.
“Mori,” You called for him with a slight huskiness to your voice, which was sore from not being used in several hours.
He didn’t want you to speak too much and overexert yourself, so he’d try to guess what you needed before you said anything
You thought it was a little unnecessary, but you liked being doted on, so you didn’t stop it quite yet

oh my fucking god the domunox (idk how to spell his name and idc) reveal??? grand demon of loathing that attacks insecurities to induce self loathing to make people embrace the abyss??? holy shit. ashton is right they are so fucked, bells hells is a fucking buffet for this fucker.
chet - like he may love being the wolf, but his is losing control of the wolf and hurting people, especially those he cares about and that missing time where he might have hurt people like kids, especially considering he’s lost control and hurt the group before, specifically orym
laudna - her whole deal with delilah and how intertwined they are, but also hurting and losing imogen and to an extent the others, her self worth issues and how willing she is to give up herself and intertwine and use delilah to stop ludinus
imogen - losing laudna to delilah, especially if it’s emphasized that imogen could have saved her, the loss of her future with laudna, losing herself to predathos, what they’re doing isn’t enough, also is delilah taking control of laudna and she isn’t paying attention or able to stop it
fearne - outwardly she doesn’t have a ton of insecurities, but her parents could be brought up in a “they left you with nana, did they even want you, did they even care, they never came back”
ashton - his whole thing with self worth and feeling like they weren’t able to get fcg to see their own self worth. they are only here to take the damage the others can’t take, their abandonment issues especially with the nobodies, maybe even bring it back to what happened with the shard and absolutely bring in being unable to stop or save fcg
dorian - obviously his brother cyrus and what happened with opal and the crown keepers. ties into his own self worth issues and his connection to the spider queen, the fact that he doesn’t really know what he’s doing here, feeling lost. feeling like if he had let cyrus fix his problem, maybe he would still be here. i am so ready for robbie to wreck us at the live show and if matt brings orym into the hallucination with cyrus that dorian is having i will Lose My Mind even more than i already am
orym - all of his self sacrifice issues and need to protect his family at his own expense. also bringing in the the deal with nana mori and using the fight with laudna to make him feel like the group only wants him bc he can take hits for them. it would absolutely target his survivors guilt and his feelings that he shouldn’t have survived the attack when the others died. if he fails the save, i can’t wait for matt to show him his family, especially will and derrig and dorian, saying things like “why didn’t you save us, how did you let this happen, don’t you care about us? we’re dead you’re still here and you shouldn’t be”. let him break down and be angry and sob i want this so so bad
god i can’t fucking wait for the live show this is gonna wreck us

Just like Dazai
Summary: No one liked being compared to someone else. Especially when you suspect that there was much more to your boyfriend's relationship with his ex partner than met the eye. But did it really matter? After all, you'd never be able to meet his expectations. Because you weren’t Dazai. No matter how much he compared you to him.
Pairing: fem! Reader x Chuuya Nakahara
Inspired by Raven’s special anon prompt: “Chuuya accidentally hurts the reader with something he said or done. And he realizes it only when he sees her hurt expression and when she runs away from the room? “
Warnings: Cursing, mention of alcohol consumption, hurt/ light angst. hint at SSK,
Enjoy
“ Goddamn it, you’re just as fucking bad with your bets as Dazai”
The smile faded off your lips and twisted down into a frown. Your laughter which rang out together with the loud music of the arcade died down in your throat. All that was left behind was the obnoxious tune of the game you two had been playing for the past hour or so. The victory dance and loud screech on your screen and the ’you lose’ on Chuuya’s with an even louder melody which seemed to mock the ginger. Without your joy and laughter you could clearly hear it now; the frustrated growls of having lost yet another round of the game he swore he would kick your ass in. The musings at the fact that he was supposed to be better than you, the bitter one-line comparisons between the way you played the game and Dazai.
It was always Dazai. Dazai would have made a different attack in that last second, and then Chuuya would have had you where he wanted you. Dazai would have missed that last shot and then Chuuya would have been able to–
His quiet rant left a bitter taste in your mouth. You had only ever caught sight of the ex-mafia executive once as a new recruit but now you seemed to constantly exist in his shadow. Dazai, who was supposedly only a mission partner, was someone your boyfriend compared you to. Dazai, the bastard who was no longer in the Port Mafia. Dazai who was so much smarter- he would have goddamn planned better for the mission and then there’d be no casualties. Dazai who’s reports were always short and straight to the point when delivered to Mori, while yours were always too long. Dazai this, Dazai that!
Dazai wasn’t there- he had left of his own volition while you stayed and served and slaved. Fought for the Mafia- fought for Chuuya. Showered him in love, affection and care. And yet still, somehow, despite not being Dazai you lived in his shadows.
Whatever for?
Suddenly, Chuuya’s firsts made contact against the dashboard of the arcade machine between you two- an action which caused several other patrons to inch away from you in visible fear. Normally you would have scolded Chuuya for his brash actions, now you merely glanced up at him in question. There were two tokens clutched in his fist- a frustrated demand for yet another rematch. “ Another time, this was just dumb luck, yeah! Final round and I’m gonna kick your pretty lil ass, sweets!”
But you were not in the mood for games.
You were bitter, angry in the way no one seemed to understand. On edge in a fashion that not even the cocktail beside you- or the alcohol in your system- could calm. You didn’t bother to plaster a fake smile on your lips as you slid off the slightly too high chair. Your heels made contact with the sticky arcade floor and you bitterly mused that Dazai would have likely moved with more grace than you had. No, he wouldn’t have needed to jump down; he was the perfect height to just slide off the stool with dignity. The thought made anger flare in your gut. Your eyes looked anywhere but at Chuuya. “ Another time, okay? I realized I forgot something”
You caught sight of his surprised expression, the confused hurt look on his face as you turned on your heel. Of course you disappointed him; that’s all you seemed to do. Unlike Dazai who–
You cut your trail of thoughts off and hurried out. You did not wait for his reply, did not look back at him as you stumbled out of the arcade room. Past the pool tables, pushed through the sweaty tipsy queue of other patrons who waited to order their up-tenth drink and then out into the chilly evening air. Your feet carried you faster and faster for every second, until you turned down unfamiliar streets which lead you away from Port Mafia territory. That lead you further and further away from Chuuya.
But at that moment you did not care. Because why should you? Why had you even bothered trying in the first place? Why had you put effort into getting to know Chuuya? Why had you bothered trying to share your skills and passions when all you were to him was nothing but a replacement? A replacement for the partner who left Chuuya behind.
A man you would never be able to surpass, and so you were doomed to forever reside in his shadows. Because no matter how hard you tried, you would never be Dazai.

Melting (like an Ice Cream) Part 1
Tags: Fluff, Reader is a bit over-enthusiastic, gender neutral
Warnings: unemployment mention lol, ultra embarrassing reader like 2000s rom com protagonist level embarrassing
Synopsis: You don’t want to lose your job as Chuuya’s assistant because it pays well. Multi part.
Chuuya sighed as he looked down at the document assigning him a new secretary after he rejected the previous few. He simply didn’t want one, but it was mandated for someone at his position. Plus, Mori wanted him to have a reduced workload. Considering Chuuya was too busy to attend the interview process, Mori personally selected whoever was most ‘enthusiastic’ rather than someone with experience or qualifications.
And that person was you.
Green but willing to do whatever to make this job stay. You were told your boss was a little cold and transferred others who were under him. It was stupid to take a job in the mafia but the current employment situation left you no choice. The pay was really good, and it wasn’t like you’d have to off people, at least that’s what the job description said. You just had to make reports, and help out the guy who did off people— one Chuuya Nakahara, and that too in the office. *
“This is going to be a piece of cake!” You chimed as you entered the Mori Corporation building, a very sophisticated mafia front business dealing with shipping ‘items’ overseas. You stood out like a sore thumb with a bright face as you swiped your employee card to enter the elevator area, pushing the button and greeting everyone there. Your previous job taught you to be nice to everyone because you never knew when you’d need someone’s help, but looking at how no one returned your greetings, you felt like perhaps it had the opposite effect here. You stared down at the document you prepared, reading your new boss’ schedule, wondering if you should’ve gotten him and his team coffee since you were early anyway and he didn’t have anything in store for the day.
As you reached your floor, you felt like people made snide remarks right as you stepped out the elevator. Hopefully it was just your imagination. You walked to the executive’s room, knocking on the door.
“Come in.” His sharp voice echoed.
You took a deep breath, put on your most professional smile, and opened the door, cheerfully introducing yourself. He looked up, a little surprised, then looked down again. “What are you so happy about?” He mumbled. Is everyone at this place this way?
Still, that wasn’t enough to set you off. “Is there anything I can help you with, sir?”
“Chuuya’s fine. Do whatever you want, just get off my ass.”
You blinked at his words, excusing yourself as you exited the room and made your way to the adjoining office where you found a few people working away on files. Oddly, there were no windows, and the lighting was too dim, despite which a blonde woman wearing sunglasses typed away rapidly. You sat on the desk beside her, where a note was left for you telling you to take the day off.
“But it’s my first day?” You spoke out loud.
The blonde woman beside you stopped typing, making the room eerily silent and said “You must be Nakahara’s new assistant. Well, enjoy your week off.”
“Wait, what?”
“He doesn’t really need- well, want an assistant but the boss’ wants him to try them for at least a week. They- well, you will be let off with a week’s pay.”
You couldn’t accept that. You needed that job, even without insurance, the pay was too good to pass up.
I just have to prove myself as an indispensable employee so Chuuya can’t fire me!
You devised your plan as you introduced yourself to the blonde woman named Higuchi, who too had a strict boss but somehow still held her job. “Miss, do you know which car belongs to Mr. Na- Chuuya?”
“Oh, you’ll know when you see it.”
You looked at the schedule and rushed downstairs, again greeting everyone on the elevator to no response. You ran out when you reached the lobby, greeting an old man at the entrance gate, who actually greeted you back.
It didn’t take long to find Chuuya’s car. A mahogany sports car, with a foreign number plate and tinted glasses, no car being parked near it. You walked to it and looked under it, checking it for explosives and the like, just stuff you’d seen in action movies.
“What the fuck are you doing?” A sudden, irritated voice spoke from behind you.
“Checking your car for explosives?”
Chuuya sighed, pinching his nose bridge. “Headache in the morning.” He spoke under his breath, probably to not let you hear him, but you did as even his whispers were just naturally loud.
“Uh, sir-“
“Chuuya’s fine.” He repeated.
“Let me open the door, so if there’s an explosive, it doesn’t detonate on you.”
He rolled his eyes, holding your arm lightly to move you away. “All the more reason for me to open it.” He pressed a button on the keys he was holding, and the door opened upwards, in true sports car fashion. Before getting in the car, he looked to you and said “Look, I’m sorry for being rude in the morning. I’m just tired of… I don’t need an assistant. You can spend the week at home and you’ll be compensated for it. I checked your records, you’ve never been in an organisation like this before, right? Trust me, you don’t want to be here. Just go.”
He didn’t meet your eyes, but bowed politely and got in. You moved further back to let his car go.
Your new boss actually seemed nice, but seeing the job market, you did want to be there. No where else would hire someone with your experience, references, and grades at an actually liveable price. Even if you transferred to other jobs in the mafia, you didn’t think you’d be able to handle the field work they do. Accounts, budgeting, making spreadsheets and schedules, planning meetings, picking up someone’s laundry or morning coffee— that was fine by you. So you slowly walked back up, using the stairs this time so as to not meet anyone, going back to your cubicle beside the blonde woman who was still typing away rapidly.
Everyone around you was too busy to engage in conversation, and you wondered what you could do. Maybe meet with the people who hired you in the first place to ask them for— no, they were literal gang bosses, you reminded yourself. You stood up and went to Chuuya’s office, which you were given keys to.
Maybe I can clean up?
You hoped dusting didn’t count as snooping. You pulled your sleeves up and started cleaning the windows with a dust cloth you obtained from the janitorial closet. You dusted the curtains, vacuumed the carpet, wiped the table, even removed the cobwebs from the corners of the room. There was nothing more to do except organising the files, but you also didn’t want to be yelled at. You looked outside the window, watching clouds cover the city skies.
Did Chuuya have an umbrella?
You luckily carried one in your bag, owing to the unpredictable weather of the summer months. You went down, waiting at the parking lot. Sure, doing so much looked pathetic but being unemployed was even worse. As it started raining, you opened the umbrella and wondered what more you could do.
Luckily, Chuuya’s car arrived soon, speeding too fast for that weather. You rushed to his door with the umbrella.
“What the fuck?” He seemed confused at you holding the umbrella over him as he opened his door.
“Um, I didn’t think you had an umbrella?”
“I don’t need one. You use it.”
You watched in awe as he pushed past you again, the raindrops gravitating off him. Of course. Why didn’t you think of that?
You followed him, leaving your umbrella in the holder at the entrance. People stopped to bow at him as he walked past, and even greeted him at the elevator. It was then that you realised respect at the port didn’t come from being polite and making connections, but the kind of work you did. You had to take the same approach to get Chuuya to not fire you too.
You rushed out the elevator and opened his office door for him, which made him chuckle a little. “I should be opening the door for you, don’t you think?”
Everything he said was just so charming, almost kind. At the same time, he just seemed so intimidating and unapproachable. Something out of a dream.
You were lost in your thoughts and did not reply, or even notice his reaction to his office. At that moment, where he just stared in silence, you felt terror overcome you. What if he assassinated you there and then because you cleaned his room a little? What if the mafia executed in their style on the assumption of you being a spy?
“Hey, you cleaned up my office. Looks good.” He spoke unexpectedly, handing you his coat. You took it and hung it on a rack.
“Thank you, so much.” You were breathless. “I didn’t touch the files or cabinets because-“
“No need’ta be so nervous.” He seemed more friendly than he was in the morning. “You did good. You can organise the cabinets if ya want.”
Everything was too surprising. You wanted to be a strong employee and butter him up a bit more, but everything felt overwhelming. “Should I get you coffee?”
“No, I’m good with wine.” You resisted the urge to ask what he was doing drinking so early as he poured himself a glass. You were about to leave when he asked you something that would be the start of both your lives changing.
“Hey, would you like a glass?”

Chapter 2
Kuroo Tetsuro x reader
Wc: 1900
Summary: You, a dedicated member of the girls' volleyball team, find an unexpected connection with Kuroo Tetsurou. Igniting a bond over shared passions and stolen moments, love blossoms on the court; all because you met him at a captains meeting.

Despite waking up on time, you were frantically running around your house trying to find your left knee pad. You thought you had everything packed, but right as you were going to meet up with Himari you decided to check your bag again.
"Mom!" You yell, moving the pillows on the couch to see if your missing knee pad was there. It was not.
"I have no idea where it could be, sweetheart." She says apologetically, "Check the car?" She suggests.
You had to leave in 5 minutes if you wanted to be on time. Your coach would kill you if she found out her captain was late on the first day.
"Good morning my second mom!" Himari walks into your house, greeting your mother with a hug.
"Hey sweetie." She returns the hug. Himari looks at your disheveled self, running around like a maniac.
"What's wrong with her?" Himari chuckles.
"She can't find her left knee pad." Your mother sighs, handing Himari her lunch that she had made her. Your mother made lunches for the both of you, this week was her turn to make them.
Himari raises her eyebrows and quickly unzips her volleyball bag, "I thought it was weird I had an extra knee pad." She says and calls your name, holding the missing knee pad.
"Oh thank god." You take it from her and shove it in your bag, "Where was it?"
"My bag." Himari laughs, waving to your mother as you both walk out the door.
You roll your eyes, "You stole it."
"You left it." She giggles.
You both made it just in time for class, Himari sat in the desk next to you. Class was going relatively fast, it was the first day, so it was the easiest.
Himari watched the clock tick, her stomach was rumbling, begging for some food. You watch her clutch her stomach and put her head down.
The second the bell rang, she grabbed her lunch and pulled you along with her to class 5.
"Mori!" Himari smiles widely, your coach, who was also a teacher, lifted her head up from the papers she was examining and raised an eyebrow.
"Himari, you cannot call me that." Your coach says.
"You're my sister, I can call you whatever I want." Himari crosses her arms.
"Yeah, well not at work. Just for that you're doing extra cardio today." Mori glares at her sister.
You chuckle and take a seat, eating your lunch watching them argue about every little thing. You excuse yourself to the bathroom and to get some water.
"Hey, L/n!" You hear your name being called, you turn and see Kuroo.
"Oh hey, please just call me Y/n, I like it better." You smile. "What's up, Kuroo?"
"I didn't know your coach taught here." He says following you.
"Yeah," You chuckle, "Sometimes she makes me help her grade."
"Well, if you ever grade my stuff you'll only see perfect marks." He brags.
"Uh-huh, sure."
"Oh, but what I really got your attention for was our team's schedule." He pulls out a paper and hands it to you, it's a little crumpled from being in his bag. "I heard from Kai that you like to have your own."
"Thank you, we haven't gotten our schedule yet, but I'll be sure to pass it on to you when I do." You say, folding the paper so it doesn't get any more ruined.
"Sounds good." He puts his hand in his pockets and stands a little awkwardly, not sure how to continue the conversation.
You chuckle, "I'll see you later, I have to finish my lunch." With that he watches your figure walk towards his class, assuming you eat lunch with your coach.
He mentally groans at himself and begins to walk back to where his friends are at.
"She made the practice plan." You notice Himari's face down her desk, her voice was muffled.
"It can't be worse than last years," you chuckle, remembering how a few of the girls had thrown up. Mori handed you her iPad to show what was on schedule and you gulp, "are you trying to kill us?!"
"My goal is to get rid of the unserious players day one." She takes her iPad back.
"Yeah, you'll probably get rid of a few of your starters too." You are trying to mentally prepare for after school.
"We'll do more than just throw up." Himari rubs her temples.
Mori clicks her tongue, "It won't be as bad as you think. Now get to class before you're late." You two groan and leave the classroom, going back to your own.
You were assigned a worksheet for the remainder of class, Himari takes your paper and compares it to her own, unsure of where her mistake could be.
You shook your head and stared out the window, the day was going by fast and soon you'll be begging for oxygen at practice.
The last bell of the day rang and students were antsy to leave, you took your time packing your things. Nervousness and excitement pooled your stomach.
"Cmon let's go, we have to open the club room." Himari stands up.
"I'm going, I'm going." You stand up as well and pull your bag over one shoulder.
You continued your small talk, up until you reached the door. The clouds were starting to turn grey, making you frown.
"We might get rained on." Himari notes and walks into the club room.
"At least it'll cool us off while we run." You shrug, taking off your school uniform and changing into your volleyball gear.
The door whips open, making you clutch your shirt to your chest, "LETS GO BABY! First day of the season." Naomi, one of your teammates yell.
"Close the fucking door! We're shirtless." Himari yells back.
"It was just me." Naomi sighs, "Captain." She nods to you and you wave the two off as you go into the gym.
The boys club room was to the right of yours, Kuroo had just so happened to get out the same time you did. "Beautiful day for running, right?"
You turn and see the boys captain and you chuckle, "So you've heard."
"Misaki mentioned it quite loudly." He laughs, "Have you had a chance to look through your first-year applicants?" He says.
"A few of them. We have a huge turnout. I told you we would." You sigh. "And you?"
He nods, "4 of them. That's all we got."
You hum, "I'm wishing you guys the best, we'd love to be able to go to nationals together."
"We're trying," he chuckled, "We'll definitely be there. I promise." He says to you. "See 'ya." And he walks into his respected gym.
You shake your head, you had teased the captains years prior about going to nationals. They have two chances, one near the start of the year, and the other in the spring. That is if the third-years stay.
During your summer break you and the other third-years hung out and talked about whether staying after inter high was a good idea or not. You stood firmly on staying, you wanted to take the team to nations twice. Of course the others followed after you.
The smell of a freshly waxed gym floods your nose, you know it'll be the worst when diving, but you've prepared yourself for the bruises and burns.
"Don't bother putting your volleyball shoes, we'll be going outside shortly." Your coach says as you began to take off your other shoes.
You fake cry and begin stretching, making her chuckle evilly.
After a gruesome two and a half hours, you made it through without puking. You can't say the same for some of the other girls, though.
You're hunched over a ball cart, catching your breath. You eye a number of girls going up to coach Mori, most likely to tell her that they won't be returning.
You think she actually did it, she really got rid of all but 3 first-years.
"I need fluids." Keiko, one of the middle blockers tells you. "I lost all of them during our second session outside."
You scrunch your nose at the thought of her puking, "There's Gatorade in the club room."
"Gather 'round! I just have a few things to say before we tear down the nets," Your coach starts, "Great first day, tomorrow will be similar, please let me know if you won't be coming back." You drown out her voice as she talks about things you've heard the past 2 years.
You're starving. Your stomach tightens uncomfortably, you hope your mother or father made something good. You'll also be taking a Gatorade from the club room.
"Captain?" You coach catches you off guard, "Is there anything you'd like to add before we leave?"
"Thank you all for coming, don't be discouraged by today, it all comes with practice. Please continue to support us! Rest up and be ready for tomorrow. " You end and the room erupts in applause.
You let the starter second-years take the nets down while you converse with your coach for tomorrow.
"I finished up making the schedule, I already sent coach Nekomata a copy, but I know you like to have one as well." She opens her clipboard and hands you a paper.
"Do you happen to have another one?" You say, eyes scanning the schedule.
"Yeah, here." She hands you another, "Why?"
"I wanted to give it to the boys' captain." You say, not paying much mind to it.
"The boy, huh." She smirks.
"What? I just met him, you're delusional." You laugh.
"Don't let boys distract you. Do you remember what happened to Mia?" You recall the memory two years ago, she had gotten dumped the day before nationals. It was horrible for her, she had to be benched halfway through because of her errors.
You shiver at the thought, "I promise nothings going to happen."
Your coach hums, you see most of the girls have already left or gone to the club room. "I'll see you tomorrow." You say.
You can feel some soreness in your legs walking up the stairs to the club room. You throw your jacket and sweats on. 'The schedule.' You remind yourself and make your way over to the boys' clubroom.
"What're you doing?" Himari questions.
"I need to give this to the captain." You say, "Also we're stopping at the store, I need food immediately." She laughs and says she does too.
You knock on the door, hearing some of the chatter die down, a short blonde answers. "What's up?"
"Is Kuroo in there? I have something for him." You say.
"I think he's still in the gym, sorry."
"You're good, thanks." You finish and drag Himari to the gym again.
The blonde was right, Kuroo was sitting on the floor talking to his coach, their heads turn to see who had just walked in.
"Oh—hey," Kuroo gets up and walks over to the two of you. "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, I just got our schedule," You hand it over to him.
"Thank you." He gives a wide smile, "Hey Coach, do you need one of these?"
"I got it emailed, thank you son. Y/n, Himari." He nods to you guys. "How was the first day?"
"So much running." Himari stares off into nothing remembering how she felt during it.
"And conditioning. But I think coach Mori did it. She got rid of all the unserious players day one." You say.
"I helped her make that plan." Nekomata chuckles.
"I hope our suffering was worth it." Himari sticks her nose in the air. Making the boys laugh.
"Good luck tomorrow." Kuroo waves, when you're out of eyesight he clutches the paper to his chest. He didn't necessarily need the schedule, but you thought of him and that's all he could ask for.

A Quiet Kind of Love

Warnings: None Note: This is meant to take place a year before the main events of host club!!
Takeshi Morix Fem!Reader ︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
The kendo club was buzzing with energy as Y/N approached, clutching Mori’s forgotten notebook in her hand. She’d volunteered to bring it to him as an excuse to see him before their next class, but now that she was actually here, a hint of nervousness crept in. The faint sounds of wooden practice swords clashing mixed with laughter and loud chatter from the nearby track team warming up. The club room’s open doors allowed a rush of fresh winter air inside, bringing with it the familiar scents of the gym—slightly musty, mixed with wood and leather.
The kendo club was unusually lively today. Members were practicing in pairs, while others lingered by the benches, chatting and sharing snacks. Y/N noticed Mori instantly—he stood near the back, talking quietly with another member, his figure strong and grounded amidst the more animated crowd. Even from afar, he held an unshakeable calm, the kind of steady confidence that made him look perfectly at ease among the energy of his teammates.
One of Mori’s friends spotted her and grinned knowingly, nudging another member. “Hey, isn’t that Mori’s girl?” he whispered, a little too loudly, causing Y/N’s cheeks to flare red.
“Shut up,” another teammate replied, elbowing him. “Don’t embarrass her, she’s here for a reason.”
She took a steadying breath, then walked toward Mori, weaving her way past the chatting members and sparring pairs. She was nearly at the back of the room when Mori finally looked up, his gaze softening as he noticed her approaching. He inclined his head slightly, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. She couldn’t help but feel like everything around them faded a little.
“Y/N,” he greeted, his voice gentle but audible enough to cut through the noise. He took a step forward, shielding her from the bustling activity around them, creating an almost private bubble between them. His presence had a way of grounding her, calming her nerves even as her heart raced.
“Oh! Hi, Mori,” she stammered, immediately feeling her usual confident demeanor slipping away. “I… uh, I have your notebook. You left it behind in class.” She held it out, her fingers trembling slightly.
He accepted it, his fingers brushing against hers briefly. “Thank you. I would have missed it,” he said, his tone steady. His quiet gaze was fixed on her, and in that moment, the noise around them seemed to dim, the world shrinking down to just the two of them.
Before she could respond, a few of Mori’s teammates came over, waving at her cheerfully. One of them—a friend named Ryo—clapped Mori on the shoulder with a grin. “Wow, Y/N! You’ve saved Mori from another crisis, huh?”
Y/N laughed, her usual bubbly self peeking through. “Well, somebody has to look out for him!”
Another teammate chimed in, teasingly, “Hey, Mori, maybe you should leave stuff behind more often if it means Y/N will drop by. She livens up the place!”
Mori’s normally stoic expression softened slightly, a faint glimmer of amusement in his eyes as he listened to the banter. He didn’t say much, but the slight shift in his posture suggested he was relaxed and at ease, his usual reserved self letting down a guard he rarely showed anyone else.
Y/N shifted a bit, trying not to let her flustered smile turn into an awkward giggle. “I wouldn’t want him to forget anything important,” she replied, earning more laughs from the group. The noise and chatter around them made the moment feel normal and casual, though the spark between her and Mori was unmistakable.
Finally, Mori’s attention settled back on her, his gaze making her feel like she was the only one in the room. “Thank you again, Y/N. Really.” His tone was softer now, and for a brief moment, she forgot everyone else was there.
Realizing she might be overstaying her welcome, she cleared her throat. “Well, I should probably let you get back to practice,” she mumbled, her cheeks warming. She made a move to turn, but Mori took a small step forward, matching her pace and walking beside her toward the door.
A teammate raised an eyebrow, watching them with mild surprise. “Mori, leaving practice early?” he teased, but Mori didn’t respond, his focus entirely on her.
The two of them walked to the entrance in comfortable silence, and as they reached the door, Y/N turned to say a final goodbye. Mori held her gaze, and without another word, he leaned in, brushing a soft, warm kiss against her cheek.
Y/N’s eyes widened, her breath catching as he pulled back. She hadn’t expected that, not here in front of everyone, and especially not from him. Yet he looked completely unbothered, the hint of a smile still lingering as he stepped back.
A few teammates nearby saw the kiss, and their reactions ranged from shocked whispers to knowing smiles. A friend nearby chuckled, nudging his buddy. “Looks like Mori isn’t as reserved as we thought.”
Feeling her face heating up, Y/N stammered, “I… I’ll see you in class tomorrow!” She quickly turned, practically skipping out of the club room, her hand pressed to her cheek as if she could keep his warmth there a little longer.
As she walked down the hall, a huge grin spread across her face, her heart still fluttering with the memory of Mori’s quiet affection. Even though he’d barely said a word, his actions had spoken volumes, and she knew that was his way of showing her just how much she meant to him.
Back in the club room, Mori’s teammates surrounded him, grinning and asking questions about what had just happened. But he only gave them a calm smile, shrugging nonchalantly. His silent, affectionate gesture spoke volumes, and as he returned to practice, that small, quiet smile lingered on his face, visible only to those who truly knew him.

please come home for christmas
chuuya nakahara x f!reader
wc: 2.9k
summary: higuchi throws a port mafia christmas party, but you and chuuya are in the middle of an argument.
merry christmas! this one took me so long because my computer deleted it when i was at 1.2k words :)
requested by @silverbladexyz
It was the kind of thing only Higuchi would think to do—throw a Christmas party at the Port Mafia headquarters, home to one of the most dangerous organizations in the world.
A ridiculous notion, really. Yet, you all indulged her, showing up in the least festive outfits imaginable, to a dismal and drab party with a very low level of energy.
The entire thing had been conceived as a fruitless idea, bound to be denied by the boss. Yet, when Higuchi told Mori her grand plan and Elise overheard, that was the only thing she had spoken about for weeks.
It was certainly a done deal after that. Everyone was required to show up.
Horribly festive music played through the halls as Elise choreographed her own dances, pulling in helpless victims to be her partner. It was Gin, now, who had been chosen as her pawn.
She moved her arms robotically. It was comical how she looked so much more comfortable with assassinations than she did dancing.
“Ah, you made it,” Mori said when you finally arrived, nearly fifteen minutes late. You had just finished up an assignment and had gotten back to headquarters as quickly as you could. “Elise was asking about you all afternoon. Doesn’t she just look darling?”
You refrained from making a face at the comment and instead smiled at the young girl.
Her curls were pinned up by a red ribbon, matching her festively red velvet dress.
“Very cute,” you said, nodding along to indulge your boss. “As always.”
“I agree!” Mori was too enthusiastic for your liking. Though you itched to make your way over to your team, you took idle conversation with Mori as an opportunity to remain on his good side.
You had a bit of leeway with him, since Elise favored you so highly, but Mori was too unpredictable. You didn’t want to test him.
Thankfully, it wasn’t long before he was distracted by something, signaling you to leave him alone once again.
There was a long table with various drinks, and you reached for one, hoping that it was still safe. Though you pondered it for a moment, you were willing to take the chance.
It’d been a long week—you didn’t think you really would’ve minded if you’d dropped dead from some poison beverage.
Akutagawa scoffed as you passed him, his arms crossed over his chest as he brooded amongst the more cheerful atmosphere.
It was an amusing sight to see. The way he itched to tear apart every single decoration with his destructive ability, while Higuchi practically hung off him, chattering his ear off.
“What gives you the right to be so late?” Akutagawa sneered, watching you with contempt as you took a sip of the liquid. It burned on the way down. “And why isn’t that obnoxious ginger with you?”
Higuchi seemed to notice you at that moment, and you didn’t get a chance to respond before she had directed her attention towards you.
“You’re here!” she offered a smile, more cheerful than usual. You weren’t sure if it was because of the party or because she was spending so much time with Akutagawa. “What do you think of everything? I tried my best, but the boss’s requests were a little tight. It stifled my creative vision.”
“It looks great,” you said, before acknowledging the man behind her. “I was on assignment; sorry I couldn’t be here earlier. Did you really miss me that much, Akutagawa?”
You pointedly ignored the topic of Chuuya, not willing to admit that you wondered where he was as well.
Akutagawa scowled harder, nearly throwing himself into a coughing fit. “Please. I only wanted to make sure the boss wasn’t letting you off the hook.” His dark eyes flitted around the room, checking to make sure he hadn’t missed your usual partner.
You’re not sure how he could’ve—Chuuya usually commanded a room.
“He’s not here,” you said, shrugging, before Akutagawa could ask again. “Must still be on an assignment. Chuuya’s not one to risk Mori’s wrath.”
Akutagawa’s face barely changed, though you could still sense his disbelief. “He let you go out on an assignment on your own?”
“I’m fully capable of handling things without Chuuya’s assistance.”
“Maybe,” Akutagawa said, something along the lines of a compliment. “But he’s always—”
“You’re not still fighting, are you?” Higuchi interrupted; her eyes almost soft as she watched you intrusively.
You suddenly regretted telling her anything, even if she was your closest companion.
“We’re—”
“Fighting?” Akutagawa was clearly amused by that piece of information. “Really? What a surprise. I never would’ve expected an outburst of anger from either of you. You two are such delightfully calm people.”
You narrowed your eyes. “Sure. That doesn’t mean much coming from you.”
He scowled harder, though left the conversation to Higuchi, who was much too concerned for your liking. “You don’t know for sure if he’s coming?”
“Like I said, he’ll come. Mori didn’t really make it optional.” You shrugged. “Although, I haven’t talked to him in a few days. Maybe he’s doing something outside the city.”
There was a moment of silence between the three of you before you realized what you had just said. You sighed, rubbing your eyebrow, as you prepared for further questioning.
“A few days?” Higuchi said, confused. “But how? Don’t you too live together?”
“Well, yeah. I’ve been staying at a friend’s house for a few days. Didn’t really want to be at home.”
That seemed to get even Akutagawa interested. It felt odd to you that of all people, you were chatting about your romantic life to one of the most feared men in the country, and he casually stood by, taking it in with blank eyes.
“It must have been bad, then,” Higuchi said, her voice sad.
You didn’t want her pity, and you certainly didn’t need it.
Things had just been piling up, and there had been an overwhelming amount of stress on both you and Chuuya. The fights had been more frequent because of that; the two of you throwing unkind words at one another in an attempt to quell your own nerves.
It wasn’t fair to you, and it wasn’t fair to him, either. You needed some space before the entire thing came crashing down on the two of you.
“It was a stupid argument, really,” you said. Higuchi was closer to you, and you knew that she would take your side over Chuuya’s. You didn’t want her to think poorly of him when you were both at fault. “Just the culmination of being under so much pressure on both ends. I guess we just took it out on each other.”
He’d hurt your feelings badly, but you’d said just as horrible things in return. It made you sick to think of the careless words you’d spewed three nights ago, just because Chuuya said thoughtless things.
You fought more than you liked, but the two of you were temperamental that it was bound to happen. But this was the first time that neither of you had sucked up your pride an apologized immediately after.
“Will that be the end of the Mafia’s golden couple, then?” Akutagawa said lazily, covering his mouth with another cough. “I’m surprised it lasted this long.”
“I’ve got no intention of—” you cut yourself off hastily, swallowing. Though the thought of breaking things off with Chuuya made your stomach churn and acid rise up in your throat, Akutagawa wasn’t wrong.
The Port Mafia was no place for romance. Maybe the two of you would be happier if you stopped trying to make it work.
You revised your previous statement. “If it doesn’t work out between us, then that’s that.”
Neither of them believed you.
At that moment, across the room, the double doors opened to reveal Chuuya, followed by whatever two lackeys had accompanied him on the mission.
Your stomach flipped at the sight of him, squeezing harder when he briefly met your gaze across the room. It had only been a few days that you’d be apart, but your heart ached, desperate to reach out to him.
Though, you wouldn’t; you’d let him make the first move towards an apology.
“Are you sure you’d be okay with it ending?” Higuchi was unconvinced.
You glowered, ignoring her comment.
For half of the night, you did your best to avoid Chuuya. You turned when you saw him coming towards you, made conversation every second of the evening so he wouldn’t approach you.
Of course, you weren’t safe from conversation forever. You walked over to the drink table once again, needing a refill. Chuuya hadn’t been around anywhere. Then, he was beside you, materializing before you even had a chance to move.
You knew it was him just by the sound of his footsteps, the careful inhale he took before reaching you.
“You’ve been ignoring my calls.” The words were hard, without emotions. The facts: pure and simple.
The cup was still balanced between your hands as you kept your eyes forward.
You stilled, stomach flipping with the words. It was a dangerous game, looking at Chuuya. His eyes always told you more than you wanted to know.
“You knew where I was,” you said simply. “If you really wanted to talk to me, you would’ve come.”
“Mori’s hardly given me a moment’s rest since the week started,” Chuuya said, and you could feel the start of another argument coming on. You had to quell it here and now before it got out of hand. “I thought you’d be home—”
Before you could object, Chuuya had already stopped himself and begun again.
“Doesn’t matter. I can’t let this go on for any longer. It shouldn’t have gone on for this long, as it is.”
“We can talk after the party, Chuuya,” you dismissed him. You didn’t have the patience for an emotional conversation. Not when there were so many people around.
“I want to talk now. I don’t want to spend the rest of the evening pretending that everything’s fine.”
“Everything is fine,” you said stiffly, though it was a lie to both your ears.
Chuuya was silent for a moment. You stared down at the glass, noticing the gentle shake in your hands.
“Baby,” he said softly, in that gentle tone he only used towards you. It was quiet. No one around could hear. You melted slightly, not taking another step. “Look at me, please.”
There was a sort of desperation in his words, enough vulnerability, to let you know he wasn’t joking. There were people around, and for him to be so open with you, if only just with his voice—it was unlike him.
“Why do we have to do this here?” you sighed, finally turning towards him. “Why can’t we…” Your words fell off as you looked at him, really, for the first time that evening.
His eyes were tired, the blue so much dimmer than usual. You could smell the alcohol wafting off him, and though he was as put together as normal, you knew that he was just as unhappy as you were.
You swallowed, feeling drawn back in way too easily. Against your better will, it wouldn’t take much for you to forgive him.
“I can’t go back home if you’re not there,” Chuuya said, his words serious and heartfelt. “Just talk to me.”
You considered disagreeing, being spiteful, asking what if there’s no way to fix it.
Instead, you silently took his outstretched, gloved hand, and followed him into the next room.
The music got more and more silent as you walked down the hall, hand in hand like nothing had happened at all, until you found a room that you could speak alone in.
Your eyes felt warm—you’d forgotten to feel your emotions at all the past few days, shoved them all down into a tiny part of your chest that would seal all away. You did your best to force them back down, hating that you could so easily fall apart before him.
Chuuya shut the door behind you silently, and you crossed your arms over your chest as a protective barrier.
“What is it you wanted to say?” you asked, watching as he took a few steps around the room, his dark coat swishing in the process. “You didn’t drag me out all this way just to—”
“I love you,” Chuuya said, and you stilled, releasing a shaky exhale. He was deliberate with his words; he didn’t utter them carelessly.
You felt a warmth bloom across your chest, melting the emptiness that encased your heart.
With a shiver, you forced yourself not to break down so easily. You didn’t spend three days in silence just for Chuuya to get off without a heartfelt apology.
“And I love you,” you said, just as sincerely. An argument didn’t change that simple fact. “But we can’t keep doing this to each other, Chuuya.”
He took a few steps towards you, quickly, invading your space easily. His gaze was steely and piercing and you couldn’t look away.
“Don’t.” he said, holding your hands tightly, like a beacon. “Don’t do that. I haven’t had the chance to apologize.”
Cchuuya—”
“I’m sorry,” he said, pushing the words into you, ingraining them into your very soul. “You mean the world to me. I didn’t mean all the things I said.”
“Yet you said them anyway. An apology isn’t going to just erase that. It won’t change the fact that we always seem to hurt each other when things go wrong.”
“I know,” Chuuya said softly, tracing your cheeks lovingly. “I’m sorry.”
“Stop that.”
“Come home, please. I miss you. It’s only been days and it’s so empty without you, knowing that it was all my fault you left.”
You hesitated. “It wasn’t all your fault.” You remembered the way you didn’t try to snuff out the argument early, how you kept going just for the sake of it. “I’m sorry too, Chuuya—”
“Don’t apologize. I deserved all the things you said. I was fucking cruel, and you deserve so much better than that, honey.” He pulled you into his chest, and you fell into him easily, not knowing how to resist him. “Fuck, how could I ever say anything like that to you, huh? My sweet girl.”
“Chuuya, stop it.” You said angrily, though your voice cracked as you clutched his lapels tightly, swallowing back all the emotions you didn’t want to feel. “I’m not just going to forgive you, just like that.”
He sighed, holding you close, breathing in your essence as if for the final time. “I know,” he said softly, pressing a kiss to your forehead. You shut your eyes tightly. “But you have to know how sorry I am. I’ll make it up to you every day.”
“You don’t—” you were two between two places. It was hard to accept that you were partially to blame too, when Chuuya’s words just kept echoing in your mind painfully. “It’s not about the argument. It was stupid anyways—"
“It wasn’t stupid if I hurt your feelings.” He rubbed his hand along your back smiling as his pressed his lips to your forehead. “I mean it, okay? Whatever you want. I’ll spend the rest of my life groveling at your feet if that’s what it takes.”
“Chuuya,” you said, and before you could help it, you were laughing into his chest, shaking your head. “I don’t need you to grovel. I know how much you care.” You looked back up at him, tracing the soft lines of his face, eternally youthful. “We just argue so easily these days.”
“Still.” He smiled down at you lovingly, his irises a bright pool. “I can always be better.”
He opened his hand, letting mistletoe float directly above you, letting it hover against the ceiling.
“What are you doing?” you asked, smiling indulgently as you craned your neck back to the ceiling.
“Brought it as a last resort,” he shrugged, leaning into you with a grin. “It would be a shame to let it go to waste.”
“What if I don’t want to kiss you,” you said, making a face. “I haven’t forgiven you yet.”
Though, really, you had. You just wanted to go home, away from the party, away from the mafia, and curl into bed with Chuuya, where you could get some rest for the first time in a week.
“You wouldn’t break a tradition, would you?” Chuuya said playfully, bumping his nose against your own.
“Fine.” Your look was challenging, and a smile graced your features. “Just this once. No one’s ever caught me under the mistletoe before.”
You finally pressed his lips against yours, letting all your worries melt away as you fell into him. He tasted like peppermint and alcohol, and you were so tired of missing him.
“Come on,” you said, pulling back before you got too carried away. “We should get back to the party.”
Chuuya slung his arm around your shoulder, pressing a kiss into your temple one last time before letting the mistletoe fall back into his palm. “Let’s just go home,” he said, smiling at you with hearts in his eyes. “Almost everyone’s already left. I’m sure the boss won’t mind.”

You're not here
Chapter one: clingy little doll
💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊
💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊
Notes: chapter one is finally out. I had to rewrite this a few times since I didn't like the way it was going. I have so much fun writing Mori. Elise is Mori's daughter in this fic
Warning: daddy issues, mentions of past abuse, Mori being a walking red flag, unconsenting touches, alcohol consumption. Let me know if I missed anything
I've been under the care of the man who I now know as Rintaro. He's a great doctor and caretaker. He always likes to make sure I'm doing ok and if I need anything. I guess that's the father in him. Likes to talk about his daughter a lot and hopes I can meet her one day. She's a young girl about 10 or 11 years old with blonde hair and blue eyes. She looks quite adorable and I can tell Rintaro cares about her deeply. Though, he never mentions the mother of his child. There could be a variety of reasons but I chose not to ask out of respect.
I've been getting questions from him about my personal life. I don't really like to talk about that. It reopens the wounds making it more difficult to heal. That knife that digs into my heart and twists it each time I think about it. It doesn't help that I'm alone often in the clinic. I think about everything that happened to me. The only time these thoughts go away is when Rintaro is around. His presence makes all my problems melt away into nothingness.
He fills that void I've been missing in my life. That missing piece to the puzzle. It makes me feel whole again. My train of thought gets interrupted when I feel a hand squeeze my shoulder gently. I look up to see Rintaro holding a clipboard. "What's on your mind sweetie?" He sits down on the chair beside me. "It's nothing. I was spaced out since there's nothing much to do here." I fiddle with my thumbs a bit to distract myself. He stops me from doing that by taking my hand. "Are lying to me?" He asks as he stares into my eyes. I quickly look away from his gaze and put my head down. "I was thinking about my childhood." I mutter out hoping he doesn't hear me. Unfortunately for me, he did hear what I said. "Oh? What about your childhood is making you be lost in your thoughts?" He looks concerned for my well-being. I feel his hand rub my back softly and I start to calm down. All the thoughts running through my head disappear into thin air.
I take a few deep breaths before I say anything. "It's about my father. He's currently in hiding from some loan sharks. He owes a large sum of money to them and mocked the leader to his face. After that, he threw me under the bus by abandoning me and deal with his mess." I sigh thinking this whole situation. "I get taken away as a hostage until my father pays up and now I'm here in this clinic all alone." I can feel my tears form in my eyes threatening to fall. "He's been doing this to me over and over again. He creates a mess and I have to clean it up for him." The tears fall down on the blanket. I couldn't hold back anymore. I sobbed uncontrollably letting my emotions out in the open.
I feel Rintaro's arms wrap around my waist and held me close. I wrapped my arms around his neck and I cried into his shoulder. He did the best he could to comfort me. We stayed like that for a while until I eventually calmed down. He wiped away any stray tears that fell and gave me a kiss on the forehead. There was a moment of silence until he spoke up. "I'm sorry that your father treated you like this. He is a horrible excuse of a father and has no right to treat you that way." He held me closer to his chest and I can hear his heart beat softly. It's oddly soothing. I don't want him to let go. I want to be in his arms forever.
💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊💉💊
After recovering for a week, I was finally able to leave. The only problem is that I have nowhere to go. I don't have a job nor home. I got evicted after my father failed to pay the rent again. I scrounged up the money to pay off the rent but my father took the money for himself causing us to be evicted. I really don't know what to do. I sat outside a convenience store with a pastry in hand that I managed to get from stealing. I'm back to square one with no way of getting any sort of help. I notice an older man wearing all black with a red scarf walk by with two other people beside him. I didn't bother to look what they look like as I have better things to worry about. I throw away the wrapper once I was done eating and walk around the streets.
The sun is setting in the distance meanwhile I struggle to find any place to sleep for the night. I have no money whatsoever and I don't have a phone to call anyone. Not like anyone would answer. I walk into an alley to find a spot to sleep for the night. The alley looks somewhat clean compared to the other ones I came across. Fortunately or unfortunately for me, there's a dirty old mattress by the dumpster I can sleep on for the night. It's quite disgusting and it smells strange but it's being than sleep on the concrete ground and better than being in that damp, moldy basement I was held in for who knows how long. I lay down on the dirty mattress and force myself to sleep.
I wake up an hour or so later when I feel somebody poking me and the shrill voice of a little girl hovering above me. "Look at this gross lady sleeping on the floor. Ugh she stinks." I get mildly annoyed by this bratty child constantly poking me and being loud. I don't care about the comments she made about me too much but it does sting a little. The blonde haired girl takes a step back once she noticed I am awake. "Ah the gross homeless lady is awake. Dad can we leave now? I hate walking through this nasty alley with a ugly homeless lady staring at me!" I roll my eyes at her brattiness and wonder what kind of father let their daughter be this obnoxious.
I hear footsteps approaching both of us and I see Rintaro wearing a suit with a briefcase in hand. His eyes widen when he saw me. "My dear is that you? Why are you sleeping on a dirty old mattress in a dangerous area. There are dangerous Port Mafia members lurking around here. You're a young lady so who knows what they will do to you." I notice the daughter raise an eyebrow at his comment. "Do you know this homeless lady?" She asks as she looks at me strangely. Rintaro nods and gives his daughter a pat on the head. "I took care of her when she was ill. She's a super sweet lady and I think she would make a great mom to you Elise." Me and the daughter look at each other and look back at him with confusion. Rintaro let's out a chuckle at our reaction. "I was just joking ok. Unless neither of you object." The daughter gives him a glare and pouts. I stare at both of them not knowing what to say in response.
Rintaro shakes his head and motions for me to get up. I do what he says and I get up from the mattress. He places a hand on my lower back and starts to push me out of the alley. I get shoved into a black car and all three of us drive off. I have no idea where I'm going or why I was suddenly pushed into the car. The car ride was silent the entire time. The air was so tense to the point it was suffocating. After an hour and a half of driving, we arrived at a small cottage in the middle of nowhere. Its a lovely little cottage with a cute garden and it's surrounded by the forest. I step out of the car and stand outside of the door. Rintaro opens it and lets me and his daughter in.
I suddenly get dragged into the bathroom and I hear the bathroom lock click. At this point I'm shaking in fear not understanding what exactly is going on and why Rintaro is looking at me like that. He has a cold look on his violet eyes. "Strip." He simply says. I look at him confused by the sudden demand to strip naked in front of him. I shake my head no, not feeling comfortable enough to do so. "I SAID STRIP!" I jump slightly from his demand and I take off my clothes. I cover myself to the best of my ability "Good girl. Now take a shower to get rid of that filth from the alley. Here are some spare clothes for you and I want you to be at the dining room once you're done." He then opens the bathroom door and slams it closed.
I took a long warm shower to get rid of the filth off of me. I'm quite stunned by Rintaro's sudden change in behavior. He was never like that before when I was under his medical care. Maybe he had a bad day at work and is taking it out on me. Either way, it's not ok. I feel hurt by it leaving a sting in my heart.
I get out of the shower once I was done and put on the clothes that he provided me. It's a pink nightgown with white frills at the bottom. He also provided me with a clean pair of underwear. Its white with a little pink bow on it. The clothing look quite childish but at least it's clean. I step out of the bathroom and make my way to the dining room as requested by Rintaro. He's sitting at the end of the table with his shirt slightly unbuttoned on top and a glass of red wine in hand. He takes a sip of it before setting it down on the table once he noticed my presence. "You look so cute in that my dear! So cute and innocent. Please sit down right next to me. I won't bite I promise." I hesitantly sit down next to him. The sudden cheerfulness throws me off guard.
He picks up an empty wine glass and fills it with red wine. He hands it to me and I shake my head. "Oh no thank you but I appreciate the offer." He pats my bare thigh and puts the wine glass in front of me. "Nonsense my sweet, please take a little sip. For me please?" He gives my thigh a squeeze and I pick up the wine glass to take a sip.
My face scrunches up when that bitter taste hits me. I forcibly swallow it as to not come off as rude. Rintaro laughs at my reaction to tasting the wine. "Is this you're first time drinking wine?" I nod at his question. "This is actually my first time drinking alcohol in general. I thought wine would be a lot more sweeter. Especially the red wine." I force myself to take another sip of it and groan at the bitter taste. "There are sweeter wine out there but I much prefer red wine. You will eventually get used to the taste of it the more you drink it." He takes another sip of his wine and I do the same. It was bitter but not as much as before. We both sat at the dining table drinking wine and having a wonderful evening together.
I feel the world spinning around me once again. This time I'm under the influence of alcohol. I didn't expect the wine to be this strong unless I drank too much without my knowledge. I struggle to speak coherently without stuttering and slurring my words together. I get up from my seat only for me to nearly fall back down. My legs feel like pudding as I attempt to stand. Rintaro leads me to a bedroom where he lays me down on the soft mattress. He gets on top of me and I try to push him off but I miss. He pins my arms above me and gives me a kiss on the lips. He lets go of me and leaves the bedroom. I hear a soft click of the door getting locked but I'm too drunk to care. I feel my eyes weigh down and I close them. I see a faint silhouette of man staring back at me from the edge of the bed before everything went dark.

I honestly don't use tumblr but Lily is apperently targeting FMA as her new punching bag which is so funny to me because if, and i'm honestly begging to God, "IF" Lily makes a video about it, the entire anime community will burn her at the stake for what she says. But since Lily wants to shit talk series that she knows people love, let me add a few more because I think it would be really funny if she stumbles onto my post:
I beg you Lily, please make a video on Berserk, I want to see how funny it will be when you are forced to keep taking down your video because the comments don't agree with your opinions on Griffith, Casca and Guts.
How much money do you guys want to bet that if Lily sat through Vinland Saga, she'd miss the point of Thorfinn's character?
Mushoku would probably fry Lily's brain because the theme of Mushoku Tensei is about a shitty person getting a second chance at life and becoming better, but Lily doesn't understand nuance lol.
I'm really curious to know what Lily would think about Frieren, one of the best fantasy anime, that is a shonen that follows one of the most interesting female MCs learning to find the joy in living life.
Since Lily can't stomach any show that has world building or nuance and wants slice of life UwU series. Read A Bride's Story Lily, it's a Seinen written and drawn by Kaoru Mori. It's a manga with amazing female characters, but i bet you won't even get past Talas's Arc without calling her a predatory weirdo.
Ahhh yes, what is currently one of Shonen Jumps hit series, Chainsaw Man. I wonder if Lily is gonna hate Denji and like the predatory woman who abuses him and traumatises him because she wants him to obey her and only her. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I wonder
Cyberpunk Edgerunners, the one series I know Lily would turn off the moment the show get's hyper violent because she can't watch anything that isn't a cute coffee shop A.U where the characters are as bland as her writing.
In conclusion: Lily, the person who made a video on Wholesome Media Vs. Dark Media, is to much of a coward to watch anything with nuance, and the person who has a very visible hate boner for successful woman who have actually had a contributing factor to mainstream pop-culture and media, has no right to shit talk one of the greatest series of all time.

The Arcana HCs: M6 in OHSHC
~ I know I missed my regular HCs yesterday, so have this random crossover that's been bouncing around my head since February as an extra! credit to @helshollowhalls for getting this idea off the ground ^.^ ~
-- the M6 and MC in this case are also students at Ouran High School. MC and Haruhi are friends because they are both the relatively normal ones in their friend group. --
Julian
Joined the host club before Haruhi hit it off with MC and invited them to stop by for a visit. He saw the costumes from a distance and assumed it was a theatre club
He still thinks it's a theatre club, just weirder and more flirtatious
He's into it. Attends all the events, takes expectations seriously, and gets so into his roles that he genuinely forgets himself
He likes Tamaki, he does, but it's also a little too much like looking into a mirror so he keeps his performances on the other side of the music room, closer to where MC or Haruhi are sitting ...
His all-leather look is so popular the club has multiple plague doctor themed events, giving Julian an entirely new frame of reference for what having a long list of patients can mean
Genuinely cares about every person that walks through the doors and goes above and beyond to make them smile
Has a dedicated fan club
Desperately wants to be let in on the twin's antics, but every time they include him in their pranks he ends up spoiling them because he can't keep a secret to save his life. Still gets dragged into them
Likes to dote on Honey
Has a personal goal of getting Mori to speak more than 2 sentences to him per day. His personal record is 1 1/2
Fully aware of the fact that Kyouya is the reason the club is functional and has a healthy respect for that
Asra
They ... never officially joined, actually. Everyone thinks they have but they haven't. They just like to show up for shits and gigles
And because MC is there and it's fun to watch them laugh
Does he have a lot of fans? Yes. Does he ever sit with/entertain them? No. Do they somehow believe he's still a host regardless? Yes. Kyouya can never get a non-blurry picture of him
Somehow always has a costume on theme though. Nobody knows where they got it. Renge denies giving him one
Renge also made a mad scramble to study up on gender theory after hearing him say that it was a social construct and goes out of her way to introduce herself with she/they pronouns now
Asra and the twins kept a wary distance from each other for the first week. Then they reached some kind of mysterious agreement in three minutes and have been hell on everyone since
Between the twins' total disregard for social appropriateness and Asra's magical talents, nobody is able to see where the next prank is coming from. (except Muriel. but he's special)
They looove to make Lucio and Tamaki look silly
He's got a soft spot for Mori and a surprisingly good friendship with Kyouya. He sees right through Honey's cute facade and doesn't really care to play into it
They and Honey do have a "naptime is sacred" agreement though
Keeps falling asleep in the piano. (not on. in. it terrifies Tamaki)
Nadia
She joined officially as part time assistant manager when she found out that MC was a regular customer and that Lucio was hosting unsupervised. She sees herself as responsible for both
Until she met Kyouya and realized that Lucio was perfectly under control. And that MC was just there to hang out
Stayed anyways because 1) MC, obviously, 2) Kyouya is her platonic soulmate, 3) she likes having input on the costumes, and 4) she gets to fluster girls as much as she wants to
She and Kyouya have regular sympathy sessions about their respective loud blondes. Kyouya is significantly fonder of his than Nadia is of hers
She is unexpectedly protective of Haruhi's friendship with MC and constantly facilitates more space for them to hang out
Honey is scared of her and doesn't know why. Then he saw her own martial prowess and realized he might have found someone on his level
Mori likes her because she doesn't try to change him
Tamaki desperately wants to impress her. She likes him more than she lets on, if only to let the entertainment drag out a little
She lets the twins get away with way more than anybody expects her to, mostly because Asra's usually involved and the end result is watching MC laugh until they cry
Regularly clashes with Renge over aesthetic visions
Muriel
Has never been interested in joining the club. Will never be interested in joining the club. In fact, he has gone out of his way to hide from the club
Until the hosts thought it would be fun to secretly follow MC when they took their lunch break out in the garden maze and spotted him. Once they did, it was all over
Muriel is not a host, but he has a standing invitation and regularly gets hunted down and dragged along by the twins
Asra doesn't stop them because he knows that Muriel actually gets along with Mori really well and considers him a potential friend
Muriel usually comes by when the club is closed to visitors, if only because of his effect on guests
They either get scared off by his intimidating aura or take it as a challenge. Neither of those things end well
Honey likes to climb on him when Mori isn't available
Part of the twins' agreement with Asra involves no messing with Muriel beyond dragging him in for visits. They find that boring and generally stay away
Muriel has 0 patience for Tamaki, who ends up slowly shriveling into a ghost every time his sparkles are met with a dull eyed stare
Kyouya doesn't mind Muriel being around as long as the club is closed. And because it makes Mori unusually talkative
Renge tried to critique his character once. She needed coffee after
Portia
She's not one of the hosts but she is partners in crime with Renge so she may as well be an official club member
Their novel reading skills combined makes them both ten times stronger and it's terrifying. Nadia won't stop them because she's best friends with Portia, and Kyouya's just ... done with it all
Besides, no harm in letting them run wild when Portia's presence bumps up attendance by 15% because she knows half the school
Oh, and because Portia's the one who really took care of the Lobelia girls
What, you think they just gave up and twirled away, satisfied with being nothing more than a mini-arc? That's what Haruhi and most of the hosts think, but ...
It's got nothing on the Legendary Lesbian Showdown that happened behind the school. That entire strip of greenery is saturated with triumphant girlboss cottagecore vibes
She and Tamaki have the sibling relationship he always craved because he reminds her of another tall, dramatic, moody guy
She likes the twins but they're so scared of her general competency that they just bring her occasional pastry offerings
Loves to dote on Honey, but won't hesitate to parent him either and it drives him up the wall. Mori secretly finds it hilarious
Regularly gives tea serving etiquette lessons to the hosts because it pains her to see them doing it wrong
Lucio
He overheard several of Tamaki's fangirls talking about a handsome blonde guy and mistakenly believed they were talking about him
Got so upset when they corrected him that he went to visit just to see who his apparent competition was
Saw the costumes and daily parties and felt the FOMO so hard that he waltzed right in and started trying to out-host Tamaki
Tamaki only sees Lucio's enthusiasm to be the best host ever and completely misses all the other red flags so he makes him an official member on the spot
Kyouya initially objects, until he notices the boost in visitors due to the never ending puzzle that is Lucio and Tamaki's daily interactions (locally referred to as the "Blonde-Off")
Mori stays way far away from him because he doesn't like being told what to do. Honey stays right up close because he wants a front seat for the chaos. This does occasionally cause tension
The twins have an absolute field day with him - messing up his hair, switching out his eyeliner, leaving banana peels everywhere
Asra only enables them further
The pranks on Tamaki ramp up too, because the Blonde-Off has to stay interesting and they can't give the boss too much of an advantage. That just wouldn't be right
Lucio and Renge have a love/hate relationship over his character because her criticisms are accurate and it helps and bothers him

Hi I love your Self-awarebsd au wanted to know if I can Request a scenario that the reader Loves acting and singing And enter the character who is acting (example: from victim to villain, a boss) the reader is sweet but likes to play pranks.
Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes, my first language is not English 😅
Finished. I hope, you like it. Reader, who is an actor and need some help from BSD characters for their performance.
Recast
Self-Aware! Mori Ogai x GN! Reader x Self-Aware! Strictly Platonic! Elise
Description: You are a part of a little troupe of actors. Soon, you have a concert. Unfortunately, two actors have fallen ill right before the performance. Thankfully, you have someone to help you.
Set after BSD gang got into your world.
Fluff. Reader are a volunteer. They perform to the kids.
Warning: OOC. English is my second language.
_____________
Breakfast almost ended, when the doorbell rings.
Goncharov, who already finished eating, hurry to open the front door. After a minute or two, all of you head the sound of footsteps. And jingle of little bells. Suddenly, you flinch.
"My senses are tingling, and my back is killing me," mumble you and stand up. You quickly went into the kitchen.
Right after you walked away, Goncharov was back. Behind him were standing two people. Man and woman.
The tall and curvy woman has light blue eyes and curly, brown hair. She was wearing a bright summer dress.
Short and plump, the man has brown eyes and short black hair. He was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, shorts and scarf, that was decorated with small bells, that was juggling with every step.
Both of them looked calm and slightly curious.
Goncharov clears his throat.
"Where is [Y/N]? They have guests."
Like you were summoned, you walked from the kitchen, back to the dinning room. You had two glasses of water in your hands. You smile.
"Good morning, miss Glover. Good morning, mister Wilson"
Hana Glover, a middle-aged woman, smiles in return.
"[Y/N], long time no see, dear. I see, live has been treating you well"
You nodded and give the miss Glover a glass of water.
"You bet. Here, Miss Glover, have some water. Today is awfully hot outside."
After Hana takes the glass from you, you turn towards Mr. Wilson.
Zack Wilson, a middle-aged man, take the glass from you.
"Thanks, [Y/N], Good morning to you too."
After he made the first sip of water, he coughs.
"Lemon juice, really?"
You chuckle.
"Yes, really"
Hana glares at her old friend.
"Zack, be glad that it just small pranks. Do you remember, what happened, when the whole thing happened?"
Mr. Wilson huffs, but stay quiet. Yosano looked at the three of you and asked.
"[Y/N], who are..."
You interpreted her, before she can finish.
"Okay, everyone, meet Hana Glover and Zack Wilson, directors and founders of "The Volunteer Troupe of Amateur Actors", a small charity organization. They perform in hospitals, orphanages, retirement houses and even on the streets. All money they earn during performance are donated."
Everyone takes a moment to let the information sink in. Elise eyes shine.
"I remember! [Y/N] were talking about a group of volunteers they are a part of. They were talking about you."
Miss Glover chuckled.
"Yes, they were talking about us. [Y/N], in two weeks we are going to arrange a concert for children. You and other actors will perform. Sing some songs and act some fairy tales, you know the drill."
You hum, showing, that you are listening.
Miss Glover take a small box from her purse, opened the lid, and hold the box towards you.
"Here, take two"
You take three folded pieces of paper from the box. You open them.
1. Try everything;
2. Goldilocks and three bears (narrator).
You show the papers to Hana and Zack.
"Here, I will sing and be a narrator. Not a heaver, you see it, Mister Wilson?"
Mr. Wilson looked away, visibly embarrassed.
Miss Glover rolls her eyes, and grabs Zacks by the elbow.
"Good, it's done. See you in two weeks, [Y/N]."
With thanks, Hana and Zack left.
"What with the heaver? And with this man scarf?" asked Naomi. You rub your neck.
"Well, you see..."
_________
"Mr. Wilson, what do you mean, that we have to be heavers and help with moving these planks? Yes, we understand, that other workers aren't working today, then, maybe, let's not touch the planks? Tomorrow, workers will do their job."
"We are not laughing at hard work"
"Mr. Wilson, it will be impossible for us, actors, to carry all this planks. We have a performance right now."
"What? Carry them while we're performing? But!"
"It will be an interesting version of 'Romeo and Juliet'".
"Finally, the last plank... WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'IT'S TIME TO CARRY SAND'?!"
"Five broken backs, six sprains, thirty splinters..."
________________
"At the end Mr Wilson not only paid for our recovery, but also agree to wear this silly scarf to show, that he was an idiot. Also, allows us to prank him."
You finished your tale. BSD gang, for the most part, looked, somehow, amused and sad at the same time.
"And with papers?" Asked Naomi once again.
"Lottery. That's how we are choosing, what we are going to perform. Okay, I need to start rehearsing, see you later."
You left the dining room.
_________
Three days before the performance
_________
"Okay, I understand. Hope you and Anna will be better soon."
You finish the call and groan. Currently, you were talking with Port Mafia members about future movie night (They want to see "The God Father"), when Max, your co-actor, called.
"Two of our actors are sick. Anna, who played Goldilocks, and Max, who played Papa Bear. It means, no fairy tale."
Kouyou tilts her head.
"Can't someone preform instead of them?"
You shake your head.
"No. We are short on stuff. Many of our actors still angry at Mr Wilson for making us carry all that stuff. And I know, that he paid for our recovery, but some people got serious injuries."
Help came from the one, you didn't expect.
Elise grabs your hand and proclaims.
"I will help! I can be a Goldilocks!"
You open your mouth and wanted to say something. But Mori grabbed your other hand.
"And I can be a Papa Bear. I can't let my Dear Elise-chan and My Dear Light [Y/N] to be on a stage all alone. What if mad fans will hurt you two?"
Well... one time you almost were trampled by the children who ran to get their gifts...
"You two aren't kidding, right?" You look at Mori, then at Elise, then at Mori again.
Mori squeeze your hand.
"I am serious, [Y/N]."
Elise looked at you with big puppy eyes.
...
Why not?
"I will discuss it with Hana and Zack"
___________________
The day of the performance
___________________
The square before the open-air theater was full of people.
Children, Parents, BSD gang...
You, Elise and Mori were at the backstage.
Elise were wearing simple white dress. Mori were wearing a stereotypical farmer clothes and a pair of fake bear ears on his head.
"The performance will start in five minutes! Singers, be ready!" shout Zack.
You take a deep breath. Mori patted you on the back reassuringly.
"Don't worry, [Y/N], everything will be alright"
You smile. It's time.
_____________
The sounds of happy beat.
"Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh"
You were singing on the stage. Kids in the audience were clapping.
"I messed up tonight, I lost another fight
Lost to myself, but I'll just start again
I keep falling down, I keep on hitting the ground
I always get up now, see what's next"
Atsushi's eyes glow. Akutagawa hide his smirk behind his hand.
"Birds don't just fly, they fall down and get up
Nobody learns without gettin' it wrong"
"Go, Birdy!"
"Gogol, where did you get glowing sticks?"
I won't give up, no, I won't give in
'Til I reach the end, and then I'll start again
No, I won't leave, I wanna try everything
I wanna try even though I could fail
Despite dancing and singing, you were full of energy and your breath was normal.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Try everything
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Try everything
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Try everything
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Try everything
When you finish singing, the audience start clapping and cheering.
It was great!
The happiness, the emotions of audience.
That's why you liked performing.
You hope, that the fairy tale will also be performed as it should.
________
Apparently, not only Goldilocks and Papa Bear were recast. Mama Bear and Baby Bear were also recast.
New actors were Sam and Mary, brother and sister. And Mary was trying to find a boyfriend.
When she saw Mori... She forgot, that she was performing for kids.
At first, Mama Bear decide to flirt with Papa Bear. Mori-Bear immediately asked for divorce.
When you tried to do your job as a narrator, and return the back to what it should be, Mama Bear, with 'Don't stand in the way of my happiness', try to kick you down from the stage.
Thankfully, you manage to stay on your feet.
Before Mary can do something else, Mori glared at her. With His Famous Glare.
Everyone on stage, and in the audience, gulped.
Mori puts a hand on your head.
"Sorry, Narrator, we can continue"
After getting back on track, you tried to stay calm.
Finally, bears have gone for a walk.
The scene in Goldilocks'house and in the empty house of Three Bears were fine. Elise were natural, she enjoyed playing on stage.
But then the bears were back.
Mary-Bear was holding Mori's hand in an iron grip. Sam-Bear was trying to intimidate Mori into dating Mary. Mori was angry.
The whole scene was tense.
And then, Baby Bear find Goldilocks.
Sam grabbed Elise, that startled her, and she accidentally slap him on the face.
Sam got angry. She picked Elise up, you immediately run towards them.
"Sam! Stop, she is just a child"
But Sam were always ill-tempered. He pushed Elise right at you. You and Elise both fell from the stage.
You were ready for an impact, but you feel, that your fall stopped. You open your eyes. Elise was levitating. She was holding you and wasn't letting you fall down.
Elise growl.
"While I don't like, when Rintarou take control over me so suddenly, it was for the best. You alright, [Y/N]?"
"Yea. Hey, Elise, I have an idea, how to safe the performance. Can you, please, follow my narration?"
Elise nodded.
_________
The story of characters hating the narrator and narrator punishing them, became quite popular. (Thanks to you, Mori and Elise).
You two manage to pretend, that as Narrator, you have a power to gain characters power. So, you, Elise and Mori spend five minutes, chasing Sam and Mary.
Halfway through the chase, someone put a music from Benny Hill show on.
The show was a success.
_______
At the end, you, Mori and Elise didn't get into trouble. Zack and Hana understand, that Sam and Mary were to blame.
Sam and Mary apologize. But, there were rumors about a ghost (a blond one, in a red dress), that hunts their house and wax the floors (It was discovered, that Mary can sit on a twine).
The Gang is waiting for your next performance. They knew, It would be fun. Maybe, this time, others also will have a chance to be with you on the stage.

one overarching trend ive noticed in this fandom (though i'm sure it happens in others) that i find very frustrating is that when folks present evidence against gutsca as their notp, it almost exclusively winds up devaluing casca's place in the narrative well beyond the issues inherent to berserk.
recently the posts i've seen about the latest chapters by mori and studio gaga present the idea that guts doesn't at all care that casca has been kidnapped by griffith, and that his current breakdown is ONLY because he wasn't able to beat griffith. the thing with this that you'll notice is that it isn't evidence that guts doesn't feel romantic feelings towards casca, it's that casca simply doesn't matter.
i wound up finding this set of screenshots from chapter 371(?) and chapter 372 because to me it seems so obvious theyre supposed to be parallels of each other, and that they're supposed to communicate to the reader the pain both guts and casca are feeling at their unwitting separation, again.
if we were JUST shown this panel, i think it'd be possible to argue this is reaching out to griffith, but in chapter 372 we get its twin:
i really think this is almost so in your face that ignoring it is missing the forest for the trees - either that or they simply don't pay attention to any chapter with casca as the main focus lol.
i wanna be clear, the argument i'm making here isn't that gutsca canon kings (though i do ship it LOL)!!!! them reaching out to each other doesn't even necessarily imply romantic intent, which is part of the issue i have. it's simply that the clues that casca does actually matter to guts (and the story) are pretty obvious, so obvious that it feels willful to argue that she really is totally unimportant.
that being said, i wound up getting a lot more interested in the second part of the page from chapter 372 when i found it earlier and decided to make this post. in casca's mind, she sees guts walking away from her. this to me seems to be obviously calling back to when guts left on his revenge quest post-eclipse, abandoning her rather than face their shared trauma, something for which the narrative has THOROUGHLY raked guts across the coals.
the reason for the separation this time is because when casca screams at seeing griffith again, guts immediately regresses and becomes filled with rage and violence. he attacks griffith, leaving casca behind with farnese and schierke, and then when griffith overpowers him casca is essentially undefended for griffith to spirit back to falconia.
so i'm wondering if what casca is thinking of as she's taken away is that it's just like before, when guts left her all alone, and she's feeling that abandonment again. she doesn't see guts reaching out to her or trying to save her in these panels, she just sees guts walking away.
there's also a section later in the chapter when casca thinks to herself "if i don't get back then guts will-" and it cuts off there. guts will what? i think it definitely would make sense if she's thinking that guts will hurt himself to come rescue her, because he's done that in the past, but i'm also wondering if she's thinking that if she doesn't get back to guts then he'll move on from her just like he did before. ugh!!!!! tragedy
i've said this before but i think their separation really is a very promising setup for guts and casca to really think about what THEY want, and how best to move forward with all the baggage of the time where casca was regressed. now if only we could get another casca chapter.........
#gutsca#casca#casca berserk#berserk meta#debated over some of these tags bc this post does get a little spicy#but whatevs

Hey hey hey could you write the s/o in coma scenario but with akutagawa?
sure thing!
☆you had been working on a mission that mori has sent you on. little did you know, mori knew you were going to get hurt, he doesn't exactly care if an underling get hurts
☆you were sent alone, of course, and it ended with you getting too close to an explosion (as that seems to be a reoccurring theme in bsd)
☆you got lucky as the area you were in wasn't too far from emergency services and they immediately jumped into action, so you got to the hospital before you could bleed to death
☆i would like to think that this mf never answers his phone if he doesn't recognize the number, so it was either gin, chuuya, or the bastard of a boss that told him the news
☆he managed to keep his composure in front of them?? expect if it was gin that told him, then his panic attack would be very obvious
☆he wanted to rush to the hospital, but oh look at that. he's a public criminal... he can't go anywhere near the hospital
☆so he asked gin to go in his place, of course he would only trust his little sister with that. she gets the information she needs from the doctors, but she doesn't visit you for too long. surprise surprise, she cared about you too. like a lot, so it hurt to not only see her brother in such a state of panic, but it hurt to see just how injured you got
☆that's how it went every single day. akutagawa would ask gin to go pay you a visit, hoping that you would be awake
☆during this time, he started taking care of himself less. typically that wouldn't mean much, but you had actually convinced him to start taking care of himself more. now that you weren't around to make sure he was doing that, he fell back into his old habits of just not taking care of himself
☆gin and chuuya tried their hardest to make sure that he was at least eating 2 meals a day. gin would quite literally drag her brother and basically throw him in the shower once a week
☆this poor baby had finally found a reason to take care of himself, to start seeing the good in some people, to stop putting himself in as dangerous situations as before, and now it's been ripped away from him
☆hell, dazai probably even noticed that akutagawa wasn't fighting atsushi for his approval as much
☆and queue a lot of peoples confusion when he suddenly started attacking atsushi again dont let atsushi find out why, he may accidentally use it against him during an agrument
☆it was gin who got the call that you had finally woken up after being in a coma for a year. of course, aku still couldn't visit you, so she went in the check on you... basically see if you can handle if aku decides to break into the fucking hospital to see you
☆thankfully he doesn't. but he really wants to, but he knows that you wouldn't be too pleased with him if he did that, so he exploded something to get that urge away.
☆he is probably going to get more violent in this time, he has no way of contacting you (cause they don't allow phones in the hospital) and has to depend on someone else to know if you stay awake
☆and finally, after (insert set amount time here, i have no idea how long hospitals keep you after you wake up from a coma) you were finally released. while you were mainly stuck to a wheelchair because your muscles are too weak to carry your weight, you made sure that you could at least stand with only one crutch so you would hug your boy
☆you and gin decided to make it a surprise for aku. and man, did it work. if it wasn't for the fact that you were leaning on one crutch, and the wheelchair behind you, he would have thrown himself at you
☆instead, he 'calmly' walks over to you, lays his head on your shoulder, and just starts crying. gin was nice enough to give you two some privacy, please hold this boy to the best of your abilities. he has missed you so much
☆now, if he's under the impression that you went willingly, expect him to lecture you. he listens to you though, so simply tell him that mori made you go and gave you no warnings
☆it's not like you have to worry about the people that attacked you though, they died in an... accident about two days after you were sent to the hospital :]
☆surprisingly, he is willing to help you with physical therapy! but you are going to have to explain why you are having to do each exercise. it's not that he doesn't trust the doctors, instead he is curious about how these will help you. it's a learning process for the both of you, how cute!
☆possessive. anyone even looks at you wrong now and he threatens to kill them. he will go against moris orders if it means that you are no longer going on any mission he deems dangerous.
☆i feel like he'd also freak out anytime you got hurt. if it was a small papercut, he wouldn't freak out, but you fell because you're leg gave out on you??? roshomon is now carrying you for the rest of the day.
----
i can't think of anything else :] maybe i need to rewatch the show to get a better grasp of some of the characters... oh well
