Mini comic i drew the first panel of literal months ago and decided to finish in one sitting
After this incident early in their friendship, Undyne would find out that
1. BOTH of the skeleton brothers can break the laws of physics, and 90% of the time its in really mundane ways
2. She IS still buffer than Papyrus, she was just shocked he had any "muscle mass" at all
#schrodinger's muscles#seriously. everyone talks about how sans has a weird invisible quantum physics tummy but what abt my boy papyrus#hes got the same thing going on with his cool dude muscles#and this was also mostly me being self indulgent with the undershirt thing but. we dont have to talk about that#undertale#papyrus#papyrus undertale#skelebros#undyne#undyne undertale#i really like drawing undyne. like a lot#i made a of her like 2 years ago and now its the only way i can draw her. i just love it too much#and i just love her okay#papyrus & undyne#my art#mini comic#undertale comic#undertale fan comic#undertale fanart#can you tell that i get lazy with my panel layouts

Exhausted, Papyrus fell on his knees in the dust. It was covering everything in the room, from the floor to the ceiling. The main door was gone, like most of the windows. Thankfully, no monster tried to enter the balcony, too high. Papyrus crawled to pick up the door, still in one piece by some miracle, and put it in its place. The hinges were gone with a part of the wall, but he forced it to hold by nailing it with some planks that held the windows closed and was now on the floor.
He picked up his phone, hidden deep in his armor. His hands were still shaking with the adrenaline. Sans left about twenty messages, asking if he was fine, then warning him Frisk was gone, then asking him again if he was alright, more and more distressed as the hours went by.
Papyrus simply sent: "Alive. Frisk here." before walking to the kitchen to make sure the child was fine. Several bullets ricocheted against the closet door, but it faced the brunt efficiently. He cleared the chairs out of the way and opened the door, maybe too brutally.
Frisk screamed out of terror and threw themselves in the back of the cabinet. They curled up on themselves, hands on the head, sobbing uncontrollably. They were shaking as well.
Papyrus flinched. He saw himself at five years old, in the same position, as Sans was screaming and fighting for their lives in the living room. This was not a world to grow up. No child should ever be born in this hellish place. Bitter, he felt his soul squeezed painfully. It was his fault. He should have brought the child back to the Ruins. Frisk shouldn't have assisted to any of this.
The skeleton kneeled at their level. He never had been really talented to comfort people.
"Frisk? It's over, they're gone. You can come out."
He leaned a hand towards the human. Frisk kicked it away and tried to get as far as they could from him in the closet. Papyrus tried to stay neutral, but his face betrayed for a few seconds how much it hurt him. He didn't want Frisk to be scared of him. Not after everything they went through to protect them.
The skeleton looked around for a second and noticed a hole in the closet door. Small, but enough for a child to witness everything that happened outside. Frisk saw him slaughter attackers and end monsters on the floor without mercy. Papyrus felt guilty. He gave the child some space and sat in front of the closet, unsure what to do.
No Weakness, Chapter 3.
_______________________________________
Hello, hello!
I commissioned this masterpiece to @seirindono, a French (yeah, team French!) illustrator who works on a multi AU universe called The Missing Scarf, which is a banger. Really cool comic with lots of great characters that you really want to read. Go read it!
I wasn't sure on which fic I wanted a drawing at first, but since we already got one for Horrortale: Rotten Apple (thanks again Zeragii, love you), why not No Weakness?
It's a post-pacific Underfell fic where instead of breaking the Barrier, Sans refused Frisk to fight Asgore and brought them back in safety to Toriel. Now Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Toriel and Sans are hiding the child away, trying not to get killed.
The story however is about Undyne and Papyrus' friendship. After Papyrus surprises Undyne kissing Asgore, he is promoted to general of the Royal Guard. Except Papyrus knows something is really wrong here, since that role was obviously supposed to Undyne's. But the more he tries to understand, the more people try to dissuade him from learning more. All the hints lead to Asgore, but how to reach the monarch without getting himself killed, and by extension, those he cares the most about? Between his duty and his friendship, Papyrus will have to make a choice.
I asked for one of my favorite parts ever, which is the moment Frisk realizes how things really work in Underfell, after witnessing Papyrus committing carnage right after he got promoted to General. It's tradition :D
Anyway, if you want to read the story, it's right here. I'm on summer break right now, but new chapters are coming soon!
Thanks again to Seirindono for their amazing work, I love it so much <3 Really great artist, don't hesitate to commission them! They're really nice and pays great attention to details. It was really cool collaborating with you <3
Go send them some love!

Hi! I saw all your AU art just recently and noticed you were saying we can ask you about it! (ITS SUCH AWESOME ART BTW I ADORE IT THE WAY YOU DRAW THEM IS AKAKAKKDMSMAMD!!!!)
I don’t have a specific question, but I do want to know more about it.
So can you just tell me anything about it?
Ahhh THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! I’m so happy that you liked my au art and wanna know more about it !! You have no idea how much joy that makes me feel 🥹💖
Well I can tell you some info and facts about the au, how I’m planning to develop it and all that !! It’s still fairly new and I did it out of nowhere at 3 am in the morning because I thought of my old ideas that I had years ago when undertale was on it’s prime but I was too young to bring ideas to life properly HAHAHA I hope my writing doesn’t bore you!
The au is pretty much founded on the idea of what if Sans also used to be a royal guard when he was younger? Boom. That’s where it spiralled and now I don’t know how revert back to who I was before because I ended up doodling a lot of undertale stuff along with the au, it didn’t help with the fact that my very good beloved friend kept encouraging me and feeding my inner demons of my undertale brainrot HAHAHA
I’m planning to develop the au into 2 parts: Before Undertale and after Undertale.
Before undertale is basically the events that happened before the plot of Undertale took place while after undertale is when they’re finally on the surface and the events that will happen on there! Sounds very generic and common I know, that’s why I’m going to try and develop it to be a bit different and hope that the au is not boring or developed horribly :’D It will take some time though since I know developing an au with a unique plot is gonna be very challenging, there are so many ways to mess it up and aghhh I really don’t wanna mess it up TT
Here are the main cast of the before undertale, this is a very OLD sketch that I made to figure out who’s there and how old they would be before I proceed to develop on the characters. So their heights might not be as accurate as it is in the sketch.
Also DISCLAIMER, Alphys and Undyne never met in before Undertale, so just know there’s no weird agenda going on here! They first met during Undertale plot when they’re both adults (Alphys 29, Undyne 23) so it’s all good!! I thought I needed to point that out because the age gap might seem alarming at first glance knowing they’re officially a couple 🙏 The before undertale plot begins at the age displayed on the sketch, and it ends after uhh.. 10 years? Yeah it’s ten years of events before the main undertale story starts!
I do want to portray the skele family with wholesome moments and you know, how great they are! Well that is before the downfall but we ain’t talking about that for now !! They’re just so beloved to me and I know they were such a sweet family AND WOULD HAVE VERY FUNNY MOMENTS IN WHICH I WANNA DRAW IT OUT!! So yeah, stay tuned for silly mini comics of them eheh
At first, I wanted Trickster (yes I’m calling his royal guard nickname, it’s like a whole different persona of his (alter ego???) where he’s energetic and acts very silly, whimsical, presenting puzzles and quizzes to his opponents sometimes but also can be very intimidating and prove that yeah, there’s a reason why he can be like that cuz it’s HIM) to be nothing more than a mischievous silly royal guard that wanted to keep causing trouble for Gaster but then it grew to be a bigger thing where he unintentionally became the symbol of hope and an entertainer for the whole underground before Trickster disappeared without a trace(?)
I’m still working on this whole concept so not everything is settled yet!! Well what I can also say about Trickster is that Alphys might be involved with the whole Trickster business too eheh
I’ve been practicing on drawing the characters so that I can draw better for this little au project of mine, I hope I can share my progress with you guys as things go on !!!
That’s the general stuff I’ve thought of so far, I hope you enjoy reading ! Thank you for reading and do feel free to ask whenever you have questions about the au or anything else :D✨✨✨✨

Mart.. More yapping below!!
i have a lot less on martlet bc?? really we dont have much lore on her(as far as i know). shes highly observant but shes kind and welcoming enough to let Clover room with her in the neutral route despite noticing their crimes and live a happier childhood. ive never seen genocide yet so i dont know if we got more lore on her. she makes all sorts of crafts so i think she'd work in the steamworks a bit and try to fix things up and salvage stuff for other creations that are unused there and eventually help build the houses up on the surface for the monsters ! from what ive seen of zenith martlets design, she has this. darker palette, her hair is much longer, she has badass battle armour and her wings are much bigger and have stars and galaxies in them. granted, this is not a natural transformation nd is more reminscient of undyne because she injects herself with either determination or what was extracted from the integrity soul.(I have remained spoiler-less to genocide so far, no one say ANYTHING) to add to it, her hair and wings have darker tips, inside of them are barely visible stars that blink in nd out of existence. because she has a workshop and crafts things i think she'd be covered in oil and grease often, getting it on her shirt and face. she carries around her goggles because shes constantly going around and checking on her puzzles in snowdin and also crafting things like Ava. i gave her boots more of a flair, her hair has these two pieces sticking out the back as a nod ig to zenith and a stray feather in her hair she doesnt even realize its there!! I wanted to make her body more on the bigger side. bc shes a royal guard she obviously does training and bc her arms are. well. her wings and she flys around often shes STRONG. bodybuilders have more fat on them, theyre not super skinny and i wanted to show that but idk how well i portrayed it here. I wanna portray it better in future drawings though.

[experiment]: {2/2}
(I will refer to the Undertale versions by their names—Doctor Gaster, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne—and the Othertale versions by their nicknames. Shade, Color, Ivory, Sage.
I have the first part linked in the numbers if it’s hard to see.)
Sans rushes to tell Gaster, but he is not as excited as Sans thought he would be. He tells Sans to immediately go back and extract “the energy” before it does anymore damage to her body.
When Sans protests, confused because he thought this is what Gaster wanted, a frustrated Gaster explains nothing. Just tells Sans to go back and do as he’s told.
Sans can’t bring himself to tell Undyne the truth and ruin her happiness—so instead he tells her to get some sleep.
Undyne is disappointed because Gaster isn’t there, and worries about what if he comes back and she’s asleep—to which Sans assures her he’ll wake her up if Gaster comes back.
(It really seems like Undyne was attached a lot to Gaster. Wanting him to share in her excitement, feeling safe when he’s around.)
And then, of course, Sans extracts the energy from the girl’s eye when she’s sleeping.
He does it with just a hand. Painless and quick—the energy goes easily back to him before Sans dismisses it.
(If hands can give and take magic energy—perhaps also as a tie into to Gaster, the man with holes in his hands and “speaks in hands”—then perhaps that explains why Color needed physical contact with Ivory to reopen her eye.
He just chose to punch her lmao. Such as difference from their interactions in this short.)
This what we see if we slow it down the moment that the screen glitches. Because Gaster fell (jumped?) into the Core.
We see that what happened to Color also happened to Gaster—possibly creating a different version of Undertale the way Sans’ erasure created Othertale.
And above see Color over Sans. Perhaps this is him immediately after absorbing the souls. He appears to be bleeding from the eye and mouth—and the look on his face seems dizzy with pain and shock.
The glitch is enough to cause Undyne to wake up, confused and in pain. She asks Sans what happened, and he replies that he needs to check on someone—but when she asks who, he says he doesn’t know.
It appears the process of forgetting Gaster was immediate. After this, we get this scene where Sans finds a picture/drawing in the Core:
This makes me think that Gaster jumped.
Don’t forget written, his frustration and shame about his perceived constant failures, Sans seems concerned about him and him being alone, the way there’s this mystery mistake that Gaster did.
The way Gaster still seems to keep a distance from Sans even when the other reaches out, the seemingly increasing arguments between them, the way Gaster claims that the energy in the eye would damage Undyne’s body and Sans should remove it immediately—yet doesn’t go to do it himself or check on Undyne despite being shown to be an attentive doctor whose patients feel safe and comfortable with him.
The way he refuses to explain himself or what he wants to Sans, shutting down any attempt to connect or understand—ordering Sans to do as he’s told. The way the world glitches and Sans’ immediate thought is that he needs to go check on someone, despite not even knowing who he has to check on.
I don’t know. It seems to me that a stream of constant mistakes tore down Gaster with shame and guilt, one he couldn’t pull himself out of even when his experiment finally succeeded.
A lot of the relationship between Gaster/Shade and Color/Sans seems to be driven by anger and guilt and a sense of responsibility.
Sans seems to feel a responsibility to keep a look out for Gaster, but also seems to not want to intrude on his space and Gaster seems likely to avoid and snap at Sans—possibly because he may be a reminder of his failures.
It seems opposite in the Void. Shade seems to feel a responsibility to look after Color’s mental, physical and emotional health—and Color just seems too drained and at the end of his rope to even be able to attempt to reciprocate.
Gaster may have committed suicide (or intended to) by jumping in the Core, and Color has almost killed himself trying to escape the Void and only survived because of Shade.
It gives me the vibes that Shade is putting Color on suicide watch, and Color is irate about it because—unlike Shade—Color isn’t trying to die or wanting to die, he’s trying to escape. Or at least that’s what Color may be telling himself, and is lashing out verbally at Shade for stopping him.
Which adds yet another parallel to Color and Stage 1 Killer. Having their choice to die or attempts to self harm or attempts to escape taken away from them by others (Killer because someone still wants to use him, Color because Shade feels responsible for him and guilty and probably also doesn’t want to be alone in the Void and forgotten if he truly did write the “Don’t forget.”)

I’m wording this ask so terribly sorry.
So you know sans like the back of your hand and can pinpoint inaccurate portrayals of him but is it like that for the other members of the main cast too? Are there any characters you don’t really get in that way?
the funny thing is, as much as people think of me as a sans understander, the other members of the cast being more self-contained and confined to the narrative makes them a lot easier to puzzle out and put into context. undyne, alphys, asgore, toriel and flowey specifically. their roles are so crucial and defined by undertale's story that they almost work like the gears of a well oiled machine. not only are they characters in and of themselves, but with their backgrounds being available to the player and not left to speculation, every aspect of their personality become integral to What Happens In The Story as well.
when you take sans, on the other hand, his character is still so shrouded in lore and mystery that i do NOT doubt i'm also getting a fair bit of him wrong. he's an unknowable motherfucker. i can study his voice, what we know of him, and draw patterns in his behavior all i want, but at the end of the day there's still a good chunk of context to his character that is necessarily left to speculation. of course, we do have a LOT of lore for his character, and what that lore says seems... pretty direct, at least in terms of character goals and personality (he lost some people/somewhere important to him, he tried so hard to go home, he failed. he knows about the anomaly and it basically caused an existential crisis, however his first instinct was still to empathize with it. he takes everything life throws at him in stride because he doesn't believe in a happy ending anymore. he'll hold onto anything that proves him wrong)
you know who doesn't give you anything at all though?
FUCKING. PAPYRUS.
i do NOT get that guy. honest to god. sure, i can analyze his voice all the same, his personality and actions within the story, but papyrus is just as much of a lore mystery as his brother. with papyrus though? we get NOTHING. nada! he has the most lines out of any character and they tell you nothing about him. worse than that, what little info we get about sans' life "before" has almost no repercussions on papyrus whatsoever. homesickness who? scientific background who? knowledge of the anomaly who? sure, he's surprisingly strong and really passionate about puzzle construction. you can read into those aspects, but it's not anything that ties into any of sans' deal. which makes no sense because they're brothers, they got here together! why isn't sans' obvious baggage over his past something that connects them? at this point the only thing that makes sense to me is him being an amnesiac. which ig could tie into the whole "don't forget" motif. idfk man.
but like. that being said i can still more or less track the way he behaves around the other characters, the way he relates to them, his conflicts within undertale's main story etc. that's normal story analysis and pattern recognition. he's just... a bit trickier to puzzle out than the rest of the cast. goddamn him.

UNDYNE BABYYYYYYY!!
Hey peeps!
For funsies I wanted to redraw one of the first pieces I made on my iPad! It was this lovely drawing of my beloved fish wife, and I wanted to see how my style’s actually evolved!
As you can see, it’s changed A LOT
All in a good way of course, but doing stuff like this really shows me how much I’ve grown, and hopefully it’ll help me break my current art block by taking a step back and seeing that what I’m making is actually good?
You know how it be lol
Anygay, I love that she’s my comfort character, and I will draw her as many times as I want and you can’t stop me :3

idk if your still gonna answer asks about the situation but as a fellow trans person i need to explain something that i'm noticing a lot of people are not understanding (don't worry this isnt at you or anyone upset with cal) i'm seeing quite a few people go "she's sticking to her beliefs and being respectful! she's not being transphobic so what's the big deal!?" and i genuinely want the people saying this to read this post and take into consideration on why this doesn't make the situation any better her belief is a very outdated and also dangerous one because believing that there can only be a male and a female invalidates so many people (trans, enby, non-binary, intersex etc) and those beliefs can cause actual harm to people to the point of literal hate crimes, i'm sorry but you guys shouldn't give her a pat on the back for "sticking to her beliefs" because her beliefs are very, very harmful and i've even seen other christens disagree with her and try to explain to her why this is bad
secondly; there's also how she called trans people a label and used the term in quotation marks, we are not a label we are living breathing human beings who want to be happy with ourselves and have a right to exists thirdly and there's the elephant in the room... the twitter likes and follows, it's proven many times that cal has liked straight up horrible transphobic and homophobic tweets and even follows people like matt walsh who want lgbtq+ people dead, if anyone defending her didn't know about the twitter stuff then that's fine but if you did and still defend her then it's clear you guys are beyond help closing statement: the reason why people are very upset with cal is that she lied to so many trans people in the community with a cut and dry example of being two-faced, you simply cannot say you respect trans people and interact with them while also going out of your way to have a low-key transphobic belief, liking transphobic stuff and following transphobic people especially when undertale and deltarune cannonicly have lgbtq+ character (cal even drawing said lgbtq+ characters like undyne for example which i find rich since i've heard she doesn't like mlm and wlw ships) and the community having SO MUCH lgbtq+ people this isn't a "lets agree to disagree" situation, this isn't drama either, this is a very serious situation also i've seen people go "she hasn't said any hate in the past!" as an defense, sorry but that doesn't change anything... i think it just makes the fact that she fooled everyone worse anyway sorry for this lengthy asks, i'm too scared to make a post but also i've been very upset about the situation and wanted to get my thoughts out because the way people are defending her without understanding why this is actually very bad is making me facepalm so hard sincerely, a very emotional trans man
I really don't have anything to add. This is a pretty good summary of this whole thing.
#and anon 🫂#hug for you. i know a shit ton of us are in the same boat#hurt to hell and back because of her#we're all here for each other though#melons answers#anonymous

i’d be cool if you did a cross over kinda thing with danny phantom and undertale, I haven’t seen that before
of course, no pressure! do what you want :)
I HAVE NEVER DROPPED WHAT I WAS DOING FASTER THAN WHEN I READ THIS REQUEST. [Warning for Danny Phantom: A Glitch In Time spoilers] Instant flood of ideas in my head. How your email finds me:
Of course, my first thoughts were 'okay, well there's already a ghost IN undertale' so it was only natural for me to draw Danny and Napstablook hanging out.
I haven't been super seriously involved in the Undertale fandom in years, so drawing Napstablook was oddly refreshing. It's nostalgic in a way, he was lowkey a favorite character of mine way back when.
I think Danny and Napstblook would probably hang out a lot, cause in the game, i think when you lay with Npastablook long enough, the room actually starts to get dark and look starry, and we all already know how much Danny LOVES space.
For that same reason, I think Danny would like waterfall a lot. Everything looks like its from some whole sci-fi alien planet, it's so space-core and he finds it a relaxing place to be. (Y'know, when Undyne isn't running around the place LOL)
While drawing this, though, realization struck that Napstablook might NOT be the ONLY ghost in Undertale...
The idea of this crossover tickles my fancy very much. I feel like Danny could give the other ghost children the closure, the finality that they probably really needed. Especially after DPAGIT, with Danny supposed to be the whole 'bridge between worlds' and all that, he would definitely do what he can to help the ghost children at least be a little more comfortable after all these years.
I'd like to possibly toy with this more in the future, with other character interactions, and obviously the other ghost children, possibly with other Danny Phantom characters as well, because I can't do anything without my bbygorl Vlad <33 HEHEHAHHAA-
Thank you for this, anon! It will plague my thoughts all night now. /pos

ROTTMNT has been my main fandom for years, and any artist would be lying if they said they never thought about creating an OC with their own little addition to the world of the show. Here's my goobers.
All of my OCs don't effect the official TMNT lore in any way, they're more of entities that just live in their world, and have occasional interactions with the turtles that effect none of their official lore. I love Slick for his lore/story, and Kai for her energy <3
INFO ABOUT THEM:
OLLIE: First of all, the Ollie in this AU is a direct connection to myself, added to this list for fun. This Ollie is less epic version other than the fact she has a human form, unlike other Ollie variants. This character originated from my reach for a kind of comfort through the show and its characters. In terms of relations, she was friends with the turtles first, occasionally spending time with them. Ollie moved from Australia to NYC to live in an apartment with her cousin not far from the TMNT base.
Now onto the ones that actually matter.
KAI: Kai was my first TMNT OC, (the last drawing being an early drawing of her) a bad-ass, kinda insane shark mutant with a bit of a label and consistency phobia, lol. many people say she has Undyne from Undertale vibes and I completely agree. Kai changes her name all the time. You'll never know when her next era will begin. The only names that stick around are her stage name, gang name, and nicknames. Kai being a nickname that she's getting tired of. She found the Mighty Mutanimals quickly after being mutated, that's who she stay with in NYC. She spends a lot of time in the hidden city, she stays with her band there where she mains bass (but can play the drums and guitar flawlessly too). Down in the hidden city is where she indulges in her obsession with all kinds of magic (which 50% of the time doesn't end well.) She is bisexual and intersex, considered trans by some due to her identity as a female. In terms of relations, she doesn't mingle with the TMNT often, only met them through the Mutanimals. Through their team-ups, her and Donnie developed a rivalry that led to becoming closer. SLICK SKINK: Slick Skink is a Blue-tongued lizard/skink mutant and Mondo Gecko's step-brother. He is trans masc and grew up in Australia. He is close to Ollie and is in the Mighty Mutanimals with Kai. And yes he has a bit of facial hair, it's a character design people miss. He started on testosterone when he was 17, supported by the members of the Mighty Mutanimals.
Some backstory: Slick lost his mother when he was 14. His father didn’t accept him as a transgender, but let him do what he wanted which has always been interpreted as his lack of care for his son. When Slick’s (not his real name at the time ofc) father moved to New York from Australia to be with Jason’s (Mondo Gecko’s) mother, Slick was forced into this new home, new country, and new life at 16-17. The move was hard, but found that he gets along really well with his new 13-14yo step-brother, Jason. But he quickly discovers that Jason’s mother is also not the best at being accepting. She is manipulative, uncaring, and irresponsible. Jason’s biological father was dumped and arrested after many acts that affected Jason when he was younger. The two boys — now living together, acted like they’re the only ones they needed. Getting their strength from eachother in their exhausting household, and being the true family they always needed. The day Jason got mutated, his parents resent him and kicked him out. (Which is true to multiple versions of TMNT Mondo Gecko’s Lore) Slick accepts him, still spending hours with him as he gets his bearings as a mutant gecko, and eventually gets involved with the Mighty Mutanimals. Later, Slick gets mutated into a Blue-tongued lizard, which was the animals that he spent a lot of time with when he was in Australia. Slick leaves home without even showing his new face, and joins his brother in the Mutanimals.

If you have time can you pls draw asriel x fuko fire or papyrus x red from noveltale
I GOTCHU bud! :D
Okay, Exhibit No. 1:
NOVEL!Papyrus X NOVEL!Red/Lara!
By far, one of the COOLEST concept designs I’ve ever made for NOVEL!Papyrus, by the way. One of my favorite designs for a character since it’s a combined mix of both Pre-Noveltale Papyrus’ sentry armor and Noveltale Papyrus’ Royal Guard armor. I mean, JUST LOOK AT THAT BLASTER HELM AIN’T THAT COOL? :D NOVEL!Red/Lara’s design, on the other hand, was inspired by Epictale’s Red/Lara and the original Undertale Red.
Their ship dynamic was simple. Back in either 2018 or 2019, when I first saw and watched Undertale Red, I had this thought. What if Red/Lara, a Royal Guard, trained Papyrus, a sentry, in secret and developed during training? And at the time, Zachary still had the role of the second fallen human adopted by Gaster and was a member of the Bone Brothers. Given the opportunity to do so, I chose to let Zachary help arrange some stuff so that the two could actually form a really close connection, eventually giving better character growth between the two. Now, those thoughts alone were a stupid reason to ship the two still, I know- But a few months, if not an entire year later, I came across a BUNCH of fanart of the two in the internet, making me realize that the thought might actually not matter at all since a lot of people were shipping em too-
And then 2020 came, I finally, FINALLY got myself a Tumblr account and found Yugo’s Tumblr, I continued to read their Epictale comics, specifically the remake and oh boy I GOT REAL HOOKED AGAIN LIKE HOW I FIRST DID WHEN I SAW THE OLD ONE IN LIKE GOOGLE BACK WHEN I WAS A FIRST YEAR HIGHSCHOOL BOY :D- and then I continued working on how to improve on character growth for the two. And just right before I cancelled the AU, I did plan to make it so that Papyrus was a Royal Trainee and Red/Lara was a Royal Guard, trained by Undyne and gets along with the Royal Hounds (The dogs) like in the original Undertale Red lore.
The final idea was that she would assist him through both Snowdin and Waterfall Patrols, often helping her with hers as well. And then they develop through time and then- y’all get the point-
Anyway, ONTO EXHIBIT 2, also known as the last exhibit for today:
NOVEL!Asriel Dreemurr X NOVEL!Fuku Fire!
Their concept was simple. It all came from three crucial thoughts. (There were more, but let’s focus on just the three crucial ones-)
“What if Asriel and Chara lived?” “How would Asriel’s childhood life had gone if he had survived with Chara.” “What would’ve Asriel’s relationship be with Fuku if they had met?” Now of course, I made headcanons for that-
Basically, two childhood best friends who developed while growing up, bonus that they both have the same magic, fire magic. Chara would’ve been there to witness it all happen, being the first person to see the two develop a very deep friendship, and eventually develop feelings for one another and they would’ve also been there to help Asriel in finally getting him to tell her that he likes her and to make him realize that she likes him too.
In the earlier version of Pre-Noveltale, AKA Histale, Zachary would’ve been the second human ally for the Royal family. He would’ve been one of Asriel’s best friends too who’d try to find Asriel a girlfriend while growing up together in the underground.
Not gonna lie, I bet the kid would be real happy if he knew that, even though I cancelled it in the end, Asriel finally got one after 8 years of the AU’s development 🥹

Hey, I haven't done this in a while...Fanart! I just got all caught up on like 10 chapters of The Golden Quiche by @sophtoart~ (I haven't read anything for a while, haha)
Lookie here, it's Lil' Miss Lucy and her husband, the Time Vampire, Mezil! It's a pair drawing, I did something similar for Payne and Elina a while ago, I also drew one for my friend and her boyfriend but obviously, that's not for Tumblr. Now number three, Lucidia and Mezil! 'Cause who doesn't love this power couple?
And......The commissioned armour design from @tarableart is sooooo cool! I wanted to draw both Undyne and Grillby, but I have not enough energy to, so here ya go, GQ Undyne and my lovely Undyne and Elina (TWFOA Frisk)!
(And now comes a spoiler warning! I'll be rambling a bit about the most recent arc.)
And man, did I have a lot to catch up on. It may have been not even one day in GQ's world, lol, the drama regarding taking down the Handler all took place during the election if you think about it, but it sure took me like 3 nights to catch up on since I wasn't reading the whole day (and I was rereading some of the Malaya stuff).
This arc was super fun! What better way to forge better bonds between enemies, Mezil, Aiden and Sans (or at least they never really got along before), than a common enemy! Even if that first timeline was actually a mess and multiple people got injured real bad, including Undyne and Mezil, who actually flippin' died. We forget 'bout that and remember the win, don't we. Haha.
Hey, and now, we get to see more of Anya! I've also read the Lone Defender, and I really like how when Sans and Anya have their first conversation in GQ , it's very similar to Dust and Anya's conversation in the Lone Defender, Sans you be projecting your 'dream self' there, haha. Can't wait to see more of her as the crew go into the Handler's Hub!
Anyways, that's enough of my rambling. Gonna try to be more productive with my life and actually get TWFOA drawn and all my other responsibilities done.

Hey I was wondering if you could do something with toriel and a few of the senses, what if Frisk came into the underground and didn't speak English? What if they could only speak a language like Spanish? How would Toriel and Sans react and how would they deal with the situation?
Undertale Sans - He didn't notice before his little threat at MTT Resort. It's not like the kid is really talkative in the first place. But when after reminding them they could have died, they just blinked at him in complete confusion and awkwardness, he understood something was weird. Frisk is just too polite to tell him they didn't get any of whatever he just said lmao. So, uh... They nod to please him??? Sans is surprised they take it so well, so he tries to trick them by asking if they like Mettaton's weird green tutu. The kid nods as well. He thought they were deaf before hearing them talk to Toriel as they were all standing at the end of the cave. That makes a lot more sense. Sans feels kinda like a clown though as it's now obvious the kid didn't understand anything he said, even his speech in the Judgement Hall. Man, he worked hard on it, not cool.
Undertale Papyrus - Well, that's awkward. Papyrus didn't realize the child was not talking their language before their "date," where Frisk talked to him. Now, Papyrus is good at planning things and following simple rules in a book. However, he is not good at unexpected events. Papyrus just... stares. in complete silence. For a solid twenty minutes. Frisk eventually decides to leave, and Papyrus finally sighs in relief. This date was intense, but not the way he thought it would be. His autism needs a break for a few minutes lol.
Undertale Toriel - She was a bit confused when she asked if they like butterscotch or cinnamon and they just answered some weird thing. She thinks the kid is not able to talk yet lol. So, that's a problem when Frisk comes to her to ask how they can leave and Toriel just coos at them and pets their head. Frisk is so frustrated.
Underswap Sans - Blue is not the most patient person with children in the first place. But still, his puzzle is not that hard! Why are they looking at him in complete confusion? Eventually, he screams at them the answer, pissed off, but that doesn't seem to help either. He gives up. That's Honey's problem now lol. Humans are more intelligent in Undyne's human history books. He's disappointed.
Underswap Papyrus - He's already stressed because promising Asgore to watch over the human and actually watching over the human are two very different things, but the fact that the kid doesn't understand when he runs after them screaming to avoid them getting killed by Alphys is giving him so much anxiety he feels like he's going to die. COULD YOU STOP RUNNING TO YOUR DEATH FOR TWO MINUTES? CAN'T YOU SEE HE'S TRYING TO HELP?! That's the last time he accepts to be a human's guardian!
Underfell Sans - He doesn't like it. He feels like the kid is insulting him somehow, but he can't prove they're insulting him. Why would they look at him like that otherwise? There's no way in hell they want him to be their friend, so they must be mocking him, he decided. He's going to complain even more that he has to protect them or some shit, and beat their ass twice as hard in the Judgement Hall.
Underfell Papyrus - He tries to communicate with drawings to explain to the human that he wants to fight them and possibly kill them so he can take their soul. All Frisk sees is a drawing of Edge, a drawing of themself and a heart between the two of them. Frisk hugs Edge and tells him they love him too. .... Frisk uses a friendship attack, it's very effective! Edge is KO.
Horrortale Sans - He ignores Aliza. What do you want him to do? He killed them. Several times. That didn't work. He's too old, angry and sour to care about some random brat that doesn't want to be eaten like the others. His brother can take care of this.
Horrortale Papyrus - He thought he was very clever by encouraging you to go in his oven with wide gestures, but turns out that the child actually understands what he wants and doesn't want to do it. How come you didn't understand anything he said to you the last three hours but you understood that? He's bamboozled. FINE. He guesses he will help you or something since you beat him.
Swapfell Sans - That's ok. The terror of being chased by a royal guard in full armor is enough of a universal language. Nox has no difficulty making the kid understand what he wants.
Swapfell Papyrus - Uh. He tries to mimic the kid's language, and somehow, in two hours, he's fluent in Spanish. That's not that hard. He's not sure how he did that, it just happened? He doesn't understand why the kid is so shocked. Isn't it how you learn a new language? At least it makes things easier.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He's so disappointed. He got told his whole life that humans were evil master minds that could destroy monsters in an instant, but he asked the child for their soul and they just smiled at him and nodded???? Don't you realize he wants you dead??? Don't you have any survival instinct? What's your problem??? Wine can't kill that child, it doesn't feel right. They don't even know they're going to die, that's ridiculous. And that's how Wine accepts to guide you to the Barrier, just because somehow you managed to confuse him. You have no idea what's going on, but he looks nice!
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - He wanted to be friendly but then you started summoning a demon or something and suddenly he's not so sure you're friendly anymore. You know what? Just wait here, he'll come back. Coffee leaves and runs for his life, not noticing the kid is hanging to his hoodie, having fun.

Communion
(cn: piss, foot stuff)
It clicked for me about a month ago, years after it had become apparent to the people who knew me, but I'm not short-sighted and self-pitying enough to think that meant I'd wasted time or could've made the leap sooner. If I was less kind to myself I'd say 'boy, I had the maps and I knew the landmarks so how'd I end up in the wilderness so long' but I was sailing through fog, and you know what? When I saw that landmass looming in the distance, I sailed towards it.
I didn't know totally what it meant, still don't in fact. Last year I joked about being a cis boy dyke, and since then I've struck the 'cis' and I'm shaky on the 'boy' and the part that was a joke was the truest thing of all. Am I a boy? Maybe. A woman? I don't think so. A man? I truly fucking hope not. A good girl? Put a collar on me and we'll see.
The thing about fog is that you can't just step back and get a big picture view of everything. My instincts tell me that if I want to figure things out I should look at them at a remove, see where it fits into everything around it, map things out and move forward cautiously. That's what I want to do, it's what I've always done, but fog makes it impossible. You have to get in close if you want to see things, you can't keep it at a distance.
I couldn't move ahead and start hormones right away, not for a few months, for reasons I won't get into here. Delays don't sit well with me brain because I know my brain and I don't trust it, I don't trust it not to treat this like some other big rewarding involving project like learning Polish or playing Go, decide we're too busy and it's too scary and shove the whole thing into a mental oubliette to never see the light of day again. Sure, my friends call me Charlotte now and I've got she/her next to my Discord username, but I wanted something stronger, I wanted something that would cut into me.
I can't remember the name of the first trans woman I knew as a person, rather than as a punchline to a cruel joke. It was on Tumblr and it must have been after 2015 because I remember she had an Undyne avatar, but maybe not, because surely Violet, the "boy" I'd been practically engaged to, had come out as trans at that point? Surely I knew Skeeter, that poor, vicious mess of a girl well enough by then? It must have been earlier than that, the ponies had turned me queer by 2013 at the latest.
No, no, the Undyne-avatar lady was the first time I saw someone I knew be openly *Marxist-Leninist*, she was just also trans.
Anyway I don't know what it was, but even though I was rock-solid confident in being cis and a guy (a guy or a dude, it never bought me any joy to think of myself as a 'man'), something about trans women just really stuck with me. I found their stories compelling, I found their experiences interesting and oddly relatable, though I didn't suffer dysphoria as I thought they described it. I made friends with some trans girls, some of my friends became trans girls, and suddenly most of my friends were trans girls. I burned at injustices done to them, I bought hormones for friends, donated to trans street medic projects, helped newly-cracked eggs get in touch with DIY medding sources, y'know, normal cis ally stuff.
Recently, I realized that I loved trans women. I fucking love them so much. I fucking love all of the varied and fractious transfemme communities that have allowed me to be a part of them, as nothing more than a cis guy who draws a lot of porn. I'm not going to say anything about Blahaj and Bridget and pink coding socks because I know the girl who fucking hates that silly terminally-online stereotype and I know the girl who *is* that silly terminally online stereotype and I love them both and love so many trans girls in all their aspects between and beyond those boundaries. I have never found myself so close to any group of people, so filled with admiration and wonder and love and lust for them, so overjoyed by their trust and friendship and confidence in me, so blessed to call myself a friend and contemporary, as I have of the trans women in my life.
I had accepted some time ago, with no pain and more than a little pride, that I would admire them but be apart from them, that my place would be as a welcome guest, that I would be among them but not one of them, and--
A crack has opened within me to let the light seep in.
I'm one of them. I really am one of them, they're mine and I am theirs and I never want to let this go, this revelation is a gift that I'm barely beginning to comprehend and I can't bear the thought that I might let it pass me by and slouch back into darkness.
So, I would bring a change upon myself, in a way that was small but could not be un-changed, a vow that could not be forgotten, only consciously recanted.
I cut out a lot of the idea before I brought it up, mostly out of time and expedience. I thought of a prayer to Inanna, but that felt like a clumsy thing to rush, and I decided I'd make a shrine to her only once I had the wisdom to pay Her proper respects. I liked the idea of getting caned or whipped in a purifying way first, but that felt too much like regular kink, just inspiration for another drawing. The idea of doing the ritual under psychedelics intrigued me but, well, I've never done anything but amphetamines and poppers before, and I didn't want to dull the experience of either the ritual or the drugs by combining the two under my own inexperience - though, I did include poppers.
Alice, Emily and Lily - not their real names but you get the picture - were very good about it. They told me it was a cute idea, and we met up at Emily's ground-floor studio flat on Sunday night. We'd have been playing board games anyway, and they even seemed a little excited by the idea, even if they weren't buzzing from anticipation like me.
I'd only worn the clothes once since I'd bought them - black tights, a knee-length straight skirt, a black blouse - but my heart didn't pound like that the first time I put them on. I shaved my face upwards and against the grain, my skin still annoyingly stubble-grey, but that would show much less in the candlelight.
When I stepped out of Emily's bathroom the girls had already set things up, candles and all. They were sitting on chairs in a semi-circle, backlit by flickering orange candlelight. As I approached they got stage giggles; I did too, it felt infectious.
Once the giggles had cleared, Alice, in the middle, asked me to state my name and purpose.
'My name is Sophie, and I am here to recieve communion.'
'Very well,' said Alice, and pointed to a spot between their chairs marked in white tape. I knelt there, a bowl of water to one side and a small bag at the other.
I turned to Lily, bowed my head, and asked her if I could wash her feet. She nodded, and I took the bowl and wash cloth and gently cleaned her feet with warm water. Once they were clean and free of sweat and sock lint, I bent down to dry them with my hair. She nodded her approval, and I asked Emily if I could do the same for her. Likewise I cleaned her feet and likewise dried them with my hair. Alice did not get her feet out, for me nor anyone, and instead allowed me to lick her shiny black boots, which only had the faintest hint of grit to them.
Once I had performed the ablutions, the girls daubed me. Alice held my jaw firm in one hand as she applied mascara to each of my lashes with the other, Emily let me rest my chin on her fingertip as she painted my lips a vibrant red, and Lily stroked my hair as she marked my cheeks with blush. They cooed and called me pretty, and Lily's blush felt superfluous.
I presented each of them with a gift: An Adventure Time tarot deck for Lily, a sharpening stone for Emily, a guide to mushrooms for Alice. They accepted the gifts, and gave me gifts in return: a simple black choker from Lily, a bottle of amyl nitrite from Emily, a stack of trans zines from Alice. My voice cracked a little as I thanked them, and cracked a little more after they watched me take a few long, heady hits from the poppers bottle.
Alice asked me if I was ready to recieve communion; I begged her, please, yes.
She took a blister pack of 2mg estradiol and popped out a single blue pill. I knelt and looked up at her, eyes open, heart thumping, mouth wide.
She placed the tiny pill on my tongue and said, 'Sophie, this bread is your flesh, which is given to you.'
Then, she stood up, unzipped her jeans, pulled her limp cock out of her underwear and pushed it between my lips, which I wrapped tight around it.
'Sophie, this wine is your blood, drink this in rememberance of yourself.'
It took her a moment to start pissing, and her urine immediately washed the pill down my throat. It tasted fucking disgusting, almost as salty as seawater with that weird, almost chemical aftertaste. It turned my stomach, and I felt euphoric as I sucked it down.
After that they praised me and called me a girl and a faggot and a whore, and I kept sucking Alice's cock until Emily wanted a blowjob too, and from there it turned into regular lesbian sex, Lily's chastity cage clinking fruitlessly against mine as Emily went around biting us both and Alice had me lick her armpit clean of sweat, fingering and kissing and pinching until we all got tired enough to start watching movies in Emily's bed.
I got up and fetched drinks and sandwiches for everyone and something happened between aftercare, the aftermath of a religious service, and an after-action report. They all kept calling me a pretty girl, which I *really* liked, and Alice asked me how the whole thing had turned out, if I felt anything had changed, and I had to eat two salami and cucumber sandwiches before I could figure out my answer.
Something had changed, but the change had happened months ago, and it had taken communion for me to see it. It didn't clear up my questions or reveal hidden knowledge, I don't know if I'm a she/her boy or a he/him girl, I don't know if I'm actually a woman or just not at all a man, I don't know if this is a thing I've become or if I've been this all along and it's taken this long to discover it. I don't even know if I've really settled on Sophie.
All I got from communion, from this sacred connection of love and knowledge from other trans girls to me, was surety in the things I already kinda knew:
I'm transgender as fuck and I'm a big fucking dyke.

Ever wondered what the fictional protagonists of Distilling Destiny might look like? Well, here's my interpretation ;>!!
If you don't know what Distilling Destiny is, I suggest you go read Flipping Fate- the fanfic I'm co-writing :>! It's a fake book that exists within the world of FF- written by the one and only Stretch! (or, in real life: @collegecomics18 ;D)
(Additional notes and thoughts under the cut!)
There's no "canon" design for these characters, but I thought it'd be fun to try come up with some concepts :>! I actually drew these months ago with a gap between finishing each, so they all look slightly different stylistically lol
First off! Each design is associated with a playing card suit; the Knight is associated with HEARTS (♥️) , the Soothsayer with DIAMONDS (♦️) , and the Bard with CLUBS (♣). Not only can this be seen in small details, but also in their overall poses/shapes!
The shapes also correlate very neatly into the idea that all the characters are from different kingdoms- I would have tried to differentiate each kingdom's clothing style a bit more buuuuut that's... a lot of work, and we only really see a couple characters from each kingdom, so I just stuck with making each character feel distinct.
One thing I also tried to go for was making all of them "faceless" in various ways, since the characters in Distilling Destiny are embodied by their roles in a way that effectively strips them of any further identity; during the book club, the DD!characters are referred to as they are in the book- they HAVE no names, and are only referred to by their titles. They are also meant to correlate to/reflect the characters of Flipping Fate in a not-very subtle way, on account of Stretch being the author (and... [REDACTED]).
The Knight's armour references a LOT of things. Obviously, OG Papyrus' battle body (even his little blue shorts ;>), but the red plume on his helmet is meant to call back to Undyne, and some of the golden bits (e.g on the back of his gauntlets) are not only "heart" shaped, but are also reminiscent of tridents and thus Asgore and the Royal Guard.
The Soothsayer's clothes are patterned with diamonds and coins- they are both a connection to the reader/MC, but also!!! In tarot the "matching" suite for diamonds would be coins/pentacles :]!! The Bard's pipe is a fantasy equivalent of his FF counterpart's bad habits, and his blue accents are meant to be a small nod toward his brother LOL.
Anyway, this is already long as heck so why not make it longer! So here are the sketches that I did back in….. SEPTEMBER 2022?? kjdhfkjsf
You can see the original sketch for the Bard is much smaller than the other two since I did it while I was at work LMAO (plus the initial idea for the Knight I had, which ended up getting changed.)
Thank you for reading! If you got all the way down here, you probably deserve a little treat ;)!
So!! I mentioned at the beginning that each of the characters correspond to a card suit... which of course, means there is a spade as well.
(The only reason he's not in this lineup is because I haven't finished drawing him yet kjhfjgkjgkjfhgdskjg,,)
#do i tag this as undertale.#??????? like... technically?#HOW THE FUCK DO I TAG. FANART FOR A FAKE BOOK WITHIN A FANFIC? (where the book characters are meant to parallel the fanfic characters)#my art#flippingfate#distillingdestiny#i am DD's biggest fan uwu#ff extras#holy shit thank you past me for actually putting image descriptions#the one good thing about leaving things in my drafts. i return to them a lot for editing lmao

Every time my old post expressing bafflement at 'anti player theory' undertale and deltarune fans gets a note, I go through the war again. Maybe some of them are normal, but like every post from these people that I have ever seen is never content to just have a strictly in universe read of the text. They gotta assert that believing a video game has meta elements spits in the face of craft and storytelling, and no video game could ever draw attention to it being a video game as part of it's thematic identity. They have to debunk the concept of metafiction just to be right, which is hilarious because they end up overwriting the thematic craft they claim to be the only real supporters of.
Undertale is about war, and violence, and hate and how we respond to it. Most monsters don't really want to fight, half of them are just hanging out, so they're happy to be friends if you are, but the memory of the war between monsters and humans lingers. Whether they don't entirely understand the war's true essence because of their purehearted natures make them antithetical to it (Papyrus, Monster Kid), or use the narrative around it as a prop for their personal goals and are forced to contend themselves (Alphys, Mettaton), or try to teach its horrors with its methods (Toriel), or are convinced that the only way to escape the shadow of the war is to win it (Undyne) even if they don't really want to wage war at all (Asgore), the history of that war informs it all. Flowey is who he is because that violence ravaged Asriel, a small child, SO hard his grief and anger are now everyone's problems. He cannot feel love because the cycle of violence stole his ability to believe in it. Every genocide boss only fights you to stop you from carrying out your own. They know that if the entire underground is so easily destroyed, there is no reason humanity wouldn't face the same fate, and this cycle must end, even if they are powerless. The ending is determined by whether you perpetuate war. The genocide run is a grueling, unfulfilling, deliberately difficult challenge as punishment for enacting war for nebulous gain, while pacifist ending brings about the best future, where everyone including Asriel is saved, and it is the most fun to play, because is one where you commit to kindness and understanding. They both are in service to the thesis statement that "love and compassion are good and the key to rectifying all wrongs."
Hbomberguy and NezumiVA have made videos on the same lines, but Undertale's meta because it's about how we engage with video games as a medium. It's about completionism. It asks whether mining a story for every possible scrap of information is worthwhile. Chara's true name is literally a derivative of player character, you are meant to name them after yourself, and project onto them and Frisk until the game seperates them from you because you are a real human being, not a character in a video game. You only learn Frisk's name by the end of pacifist, the best possible ending that you should be satisfied with as a means of separating your ties, and you only meet Chara when you go way the fuck out of your way to get the worst possible ending because of vague hints that there is one. Undertale uses the vibe and aesthetic of old turn-based rpgs to draw you in, get you comfortable, only to use it's characters to ask why are you doing any of this? Is this why you like stories? Are video games merely arrangements of lore to be logged into a wiki until you run out of data to sort, or did you like Undertale and other video games because its characters and ideas resonated with you emotionally? The text has a lot of compassion for Alphys and her fan hobbies, and it only criticizes her when she treats the real world as a self insert fanfic, and it's meta thesis for you is similar. It's fine and good that you love your favorite games, but what are you getting out of engaging with the medium in this way? "Don't you have anything better to do?"
But Deltarune is where they really start to lose me. It is not finished, things could change with later installments, but from what little we have, it follows up on Undertale's commentary about the cycle of violence, and brings it back to suburbia. Violence here is interpersonal abuse and neglect. It is adults caught up in the myriad problems of adult life they do not notice, or fail to support, or do not care about the children suffering under those same systems. Kris is a child who lives in the shadow of their older brother. They befriend Susie, who eats garbage and doesn't seem to have parents (or at least not any that give a shit), and they have a childhood bond with Noelle, who has lost her sister, her father is in the hospital, and her mother is absent and otherwise not great. Even Berdley has a whole complex about needing to be smart thanks to his upbringing. Kris opens this portal themself, literally escaping into a fantasy land where they, children, are the most important and powerful, unbeholden to adults and their baggage. They get to be agents, not subjects, and yet the dark world still has those same anxieties. Lancer is afraid of his father, Queen is an overbearing mother, Rouxls is an opportunist most concerned with himself, King struggles in vain to liberate himself from being a subject while forcing his subjects to adhere to his agenda, Spamton wants to escape his chains and is the incarnation of a spambot, Seam gives up, and Jevil escapes into his imagination. Kris can abuse Noelle into the snowgrave route, and Susie and Berdley are bullies because kids are just as capable of hurting one another as adults are. Darkners may say shit about not wanting to fight anyway, and Ralsei might regurgitate Undertale's lesson as truth like it's his full time job, but even he re-evaluates by the end of chapter one. In the real world things cannot be as simple they were in Undertale.
Agency obviously relates back to the meta, as Kris' is literally overwritten by the red soul you are asked to give your own name in a dialogue that once again separates you from your fictional vessel, a player character, then goes even harder when they slam dunk that little guy you made into the trash because "No one can choose who they are in this world." You can't either. You can get Kris to abuse Noelle into killing people, carry out the abuses that made these kids desperate to escape in the first place, even if they don't want that, but understanding the player solely as a force that strips agency, much like understanding Undertale's player as a comment on real world morality, is incomplete.
If Undertale critiques completionism and datamining as a valuable ways to understand art, then Deltarune reuses its cast and critiques is thesis as part of a its meta to showcase the it's real value. It is a story that even in universe is about fiction. The dark world and its inhabitants are palatable reflections of Hometown. Kris and Susie keep going back because it is freeing, and allows them to grapple with the their complicated feelings about their world. They can come out more confident in themselves, with a healthier mindset, or Berdley can fucking die! Violence in the dark world comes back out of it because the dark world is a mirror. Video games aren't real, you don't actually kill monsters or darkners, but war is real, and violence is real, and abuse is real, aren't they? Isn't that why you get sad when characters you like die? How often do we use analogies and metaphors to explain our feelings, or complicated ideas? Fiction is just a tool to understand the world. What are the stories you love saying to you?
If the meta doesn't compel you, it's not what you find value in, or how you interpret the text, I don't care, even if I think it's strange. What you get out of these games belongs to you, and you deserve to have your reading as much as I or any meta proponent does. But anyone making claims about what fiction must be, just to deny the a meta angle is possible? That's anti-intellectual bullshit. It denies metafiction exists as a tool altogether. It shits on not just Undertale and Deltarune, or meta video games, but stories written across every medium that have ever used their work to comment on itself, its genre, its medium, or art as a whole. If you denigrate a whole artistic convention and the work of countless artists just to validate your hot take? You don't deserve any respect.
