small A/N side note: yES, so i was like “why not make my first headcanon?” right and yeah here we are. so i want to be able to let you guys know that you can request headcanons like these or under the same au! but with a different group! so yeah enjoy! this will be split into 2 parts sincE it wiLL gEt LONGGGG. enjoy!

so FINE ARTS KINDA BI-

hes actually really into art and he just loves to draw and paint a bunch of portraits, scenaries and yk all that, he loves to dance but he kinda considered it like minho, a part of him and his heart but its defeated with art

hes really passionate about art and he really really wants to pursue it

and you SUPPORT HIM WITH ALL UR HEART AS THE KING/QUEEN/ROYAL YOU ARE

you guys actually first met when you were touring around the fine art’s department with another student, and you guy accidentally bumped in the entrance of the art room or art hall

and you guys have been kinda awkward since then but likeeee you just couldnt get him outta your brain for the next few weeks (months)

and one day you decided to paint something for fun or draw yk you were just stressed and all, you saw him painting a beautiful flower and he looked up at you midway into painting it/coloring it, and he was just awestruck and he just admired you for a bit there (you did too so lolol) and he gave you a soft smile before inviting you to help him maybe with his work

turns out the flower painting was for his girlfriend (</3) and you kinda faltered bc you wished it was you in the place of his s/o and not some girl but then its not surprising he had a gf. sad sad for y/n BUT then he explained how much he wanted to dedicate this to someone, but he never straight up mentioned his girlfriend, he was just unsure of his relationship then since her activities been real sus

and you felt so bad because bro he admired his feelings (not some typo it means his feelings of liking someone or something) and the genuine feeling of being on air when youre in love and he just couldnt imagine it so he paints it to describe his feelings

bro shut up so eventually the girlfriend was cheating on him bcause her reason was like “he only cared about his paintings” and that HURTED HIM bc bro youre out being an indecent human and hes here trying to devote paintings and his feelings to you but you just go say he didnt think you werent worth enough and that rlly pained him

you guys eventually started dating after a few months (nearly a year) you stuck by him because lbr youre glad he left his ex but you were sad that he had to go through such a thing when he just wants to share his love and passion with someone else </3

and when i say the happiness he got every SINGLE TIME he sees you, think about you, mentions about you JUST YOU HES SO HAPPY TO BE HERE WITH YOU AND ALL THAT. HE JUST LOVES YOU AND HE REALIZES HE DOES DESERVE BETTER

and you just felt so warm inside after that, (you still insist on giving him one since idk as the loving s/o you are, you dont want him in pain)

he’s dramatic but hes always like that with you, like thats just you two’s inside joke and its so warming how he wouldn’t dare show that side of him to anyone else because you deserve to see all the folded sides he keeps.

just shows how special you are (shedding tear drops)

he strives hard to make all these painting or drawings and shiz for your birthday/ anniversary/ etc. and you just have to accept the fact that encouraging him and making sure he knows hes talented is a full time job and you voluntarily took it.

but he spends so much time just loving being in love with someone like hes just a hopless romantic, loves the idea of love, being in love and shiz and he’s just glad to call you ‘his love’ yk it just replaces everything with the blank place holder of just “inlove with “”love”” “ yk that word suddenlyy just became you.

dates are not his thing like date planning, he’s rusty at it, last time you two went to the same art room you guys met in and he just gave you a tour and then paint with you

but you loved those moments anyway, you get to see your boyfriend at work and you get to see his thoughts just paint out into a beautiful picture, and where he doesnt have to have trouble expressing why he feels like this or why he feels like that, he can just be plain and open, like an open book for you to freely read and its like his way of saying all the things he hesitates to say.

when he told you about the time his seniors before him told him he should have just been a model or ssomething instead of an artist, he’d do better with that pretty face of his, you swore to hunt them down for discouraging him like that, but you couldn’t help but just soften at him

like he’s been through so much with all that and he had to strive his way into a new field he’s entirely new at and he just wants to express a different type of feeling in his art rather than just showing up at a studio for someone to paint him or just strut around with new clothes, sure that paid more, but art was where his heart found it’s home.

I haven't been caught up with your stuff for a while, but about a year, maybe 2 years ago I got really invested in your Campfire au (sorry if that's not the right name for it I know it's not an au anymore). anyway, your character Vee really caught my eye, and your story got me to go out to my local woods for a walk, cuz that's something at vee likes to do. and I found myself always itching to go back after that. I kept going on walks. even in the winter, and I hate the cold, and bugs, and I wasn't very in shape so it was hard at first. but nothing came close to making me feel calm and safe in my own head as going out into the woods and getting my hands covered in dirt. I listened to those character playlists you made for them, and it got me into music. I never really understood listening to music before, but idk... the way the songs formed together to draw a picture of a person. It really caught my attention. and now I make playlists all the time. and now those are the two things I do. to feel calm and safe in my own head. I go for a walk and I listen to music. and yeah those are two simple things, someone had probablyve suggested them to me before. But idk. connecting it with a character spurred me to actually go out and do it. It's been a really rough year or so since I discovered those though. I don't wanna trauma dump and stuff in your asks cuz this is just me telling you your work really touched me. but let's just say I stopped going on walks. I moved away from that forest I always went to. i stopped seeing old friends. and for a long time I forgot how much the smell of wood and hand drawn stories brought me back down to earth. a bunch of things happened and I ended up moving back near that forest. It still took me a long time to go back to it though. Today I read a story, about different characters, it touched me the same way yours did, with relationships that felt real. It reminded me about walking through the woods and friends I could trust with anything and being grounded and content. So today I went back out to the woods for the first time in a long time. I listened to songs that i heard for the first time in those playlists you made about your characters. It was just as calming as I remembered. It made me feel safe and comfortable with myself. I hope this doesn't weird you out or is too parasocially. but I just felt that you should know this. I truly treasure the gift of inspiration your art has given me. I know in the end it's me who takes me out to the woods when I'm stressed, but I dont know if I ever would have gone out there if it weren't for your charming characters. I think i will continue to go out to these woods, dig my hands in the dirt, collect the rocks i find, listen to music, engage with art, and read stories. Thank you again. I wish you the best.

I love drawing and I always try to improve!! But I''ve been losing motivation lately because I try to draw stuff that might be pretty easy for other artists but I struggle with them A LOT.

I KNOW I shouldn't compare myself to others if it's gonna demotivate me but I just can't help it! I see other VERY talented people draw AMAZINGLY and feels so impossible to do and it makes me feel like I don't know how to draw at ALL

I also tried digital art but I don't get how people do it. Maybe it's because I don't have the best app? Most of the better digital art apps aren't free so I'm only limited to the free ones.

Plus I draw with my finger on my tablet.

And I installed a digital drawing app on my laptop but I suck at it. HOW DO PEOPLE DRAW ON A LAPTOP???

I just, need some motivation? And maybe some art tips?? I struggle THE MOST with fingers/hands and well drawing bodies. When I look at something and try to draw it exactly how it is I can do it! But drawing whatever I like (without it being a picture in front of me) is a HUGE challenge for me...

I'm really sorry to bother you... But you seem really nice so I felt like I could ask you that hehe

i totally feel you. im in the exact same boat! idk how other people perceive my skill level lol but i struggle A Lot! it takes me a lot of time and effort to get my art to a point that i feel okay about sharing it. even stuff that seems simple probably took me a while haha. and i know that feeling of looking at other really amazing artists and feeling kind of crushed that you can't be like them. it's really hard not to compare and get down on yourself. but since you're gonna be comparing anyway lol try to compare your work with your old work, to appreciate how far you've come! that helps me. i have some EXTREMELY cringey art still on my blog and you really don't have to go that far back in the tag to find it alskdfjaljsfd like stuff that im SUPER embarrassed about now but i can't bring myself to delete them bc it's kinda nice to be able to go back at say, "i was really proud of this drawing when i made it but wow, that is. Terrible. u know what u call that? ✨growth✨"

the truth is, there will always be people who are better than you at art, and that's ok! don't sweat it. art of various styles and skill levels can still be enjoyed. and you will only get better! my advice is to not put too much pressure on yourself. improvement will come naturally as you just keep drawing and try to have fun with it.

it's also helpful to keep in mind that you are not the only one who struggles or feels inadequate. i'd venture to say that most artists feel that way, even popular or highly skilled ones! recently an artist that i really admire and consider the biggest art goals told me that their finished drawings have many layers of sketches and corrections and experimentations underneath. art takes effort for everyone, even your art senpais! ofc, certain things will come easier as you get better, but good artists are always pushing for improvement and expanding their skills so you'll probably always feel a bit out of your comfort zone and it's good to try to develop a healthy mindset about growth/development now

hahaha i used to draw with my finger on my phone too before I got a drawing tablet. i prefer digital art because i totally abuse that undo button lol but it's fine if you prefer traditional art! i know some really amazing artists who do a lot of paper and pencil drawings—@tizzymcwizzy comes to mind!

Lol I also struggle with hands and bodies and I also have a super hard time drawing from my imagination! So I don’t 🤠 I use references for like every single thing I draw, and if you have to do that too, that’s ok! In fact, using refs is a good thing. Hopefully someday I won’t have to rely on them quite so heavily but using refs is always good practice! That’s how you learn what things look like and how to draw them lol.

Well as usual I am simply Rambling lol!! Hope at least something in that was helpful 😂 (can you see why I am not cut out for twitter 🙂 DHJSKS)

Random long update post about my life i guess? LOL

Been enjoying messing with tamagotchis lately!!! I’ve always wanted ones with a colored screen, so I caved and bought some Tamagotchi On and it’s SO fun! Like, I just play with a lil pixel friend and can marry them off. It’s a commitment, but also, easy to just take a breather from my day to see how they’re doing and then continue working on whatever I was doing. I also downloaded the MyMeets thing bc I kinda want to try and make my own pixel bg bc wouldn’t that be cute??? Would also want to commission Poo for one as well bc I always liked their pixel works. I’ve also wanted a Sanrio Meets one, but they’re SO expensive, so I’m going to wait a bit before buying one. I really want to marry Sanrio meets tamas to my On and I think it would be cute to see. The blue one is technically my fiances (though I’m the one that mostly looks out for it) and the other one is mine. I named my first tama child Denjitchi, after Denji from Chainsaw Man bc I read that a couple weeks back and FELL IN LOVE. I really love the characters and world, and it’s how I felt with Dorohedoro, where the world seems so dire? But the character relationships are so fun and you get attached to so many. I also really love how it’s violent, but also fun??? Not only that but the concept fo their abilities are weird in a cool way, the devils are kinda freaky too and I love that. Also love the entrance of the Darkness Devil and the name itself made me laugh bc u know. LMAO-- I like the sense of dark humor it has. After that, I made sure to preorder both Denji and Power nendoroids bc I love their relationship the most! I wonder if there’s gonna be a part 2... I need it, after the heartbreak I experienced with Aki...

I also figured out how to buy nijisanji goods, so I caved and bought chronoir kuma rubber charms and they’re so cute, I don’t want to take em out of their plastic-- I have no idea where I want to hang these either bc I don’t want them to get dirty or lost bc they’re expensive. I also preordered two Kuzuha nendoroids from different sites (bc they have different preorder bonus LMFAO) along with Himawari nendo bc I like her too and I swear nendos NEVER really caught my attention before, but for SOME REASON goodsmile started coming out with REALLY good ones that appealed to me and now I find myself wanting a new one every month??? Smh, calm down!! Anyway, Idk why I like vtubers-- something about watching someone with a cute anime avatar just doing something so mundane such as playing video games or singing is a nice comfort to me ever since quarantine happened. Like not only that, but all the Holostar goods I ordered months ago are all finally being shipped and idk where the heck I’m gonna put those either LMAO.

Hmm what else, in February, I got a instax printer thingy and I’m having fun testing out how my art works look on it! I think it would be cute to make personalize polaroid pics for others too as a commission, though I’m a lil hesitant atm because it’s kind of hard to not have the colors too washed out. When I was testing it on Kii, I had to bring the brightness down along with increasing the saturation and contrast just so that his colors wouldn’t be so washed out!

Besides talking to close friends, I’ve been keeping mostly to myself on social media, not even posting art everyday, which is nice, but also social media has skewed my relationship with art where if I’m not posting it, then I’m just wasting time. I’m still trying to get over the fact that I’m not just an artist and that I’m allowed to venture out into new things and work on projects myself without having to post every single detail about it on the internet. Every since I graduated university, I shifted from just drawing all the time to having more time to find more interests outside of art. Sushi and Poo convinced me to do journaling as well, so I started that in February and it’s been fun to write down unfiltered thoughts, even though it’s a mess, along with making random spreads. I enjoy being able to still be creative without having to post it, you know? I’m still trying to find my flow when it comes to balancing commissions and my own projects and interests-- I have to keep myself accountable with my own schedule.

There are so many things I want to do, but it’s easy to feel so overwhelmed that I end up not doing any of it at all and reverting back to whatever I’ve always done. I enjoy immersing myself in my work, my projects, my interests. I want to do that, but at the same time I do need to be active on social media from time to time because I still need to do commissions. I like sharing my work to have that connection with others, I just don’t like the pressure of trying to upkeep an audience or anything that social media culture pushes onto people. I guess that’s why I still like tumblr because I can just post whatever and not care too much lol. That’s all I can think of from the top of my head in this convoluted, messy, post about my life (I say this as if it's not some essay or some shit lmao). Nothing really eventful tbh??? Just been doing my own thing and then I would have weekly voice calls with Sushi and Poo and then catch up to other friends once or twice a month.

I like art!! Quite a bit!! Less of a realistic artist and more of a cartoonist!! Idk there's just something fun abt drawing cartoons, hehe. I also like self ships - I have quite a bit of them, actually ! Idk its comforting drawings your fictional crushes loving you idkidk. I like writing too! Both original stories, and one-shots or personal fics that are associated with already created media!! Writing character backstories and personalities and stuff is also fun too! I've even made my own fictional world with a full fledged backstory n everything! It's very fun to think about. I'm a day dreamer!!! Yea remember when I said I write stories? I day dream abt potential stories even more. Mmm daydream world so nice so warm so fun I read aswell!! Mostly fantasy books, or stories where animals are the protagonists. Think Warrior Cats. But my favorite book series has got to be Guardians of Ga'Hoole. Fantasy owl books, anyway! X Readers are also things I enjoy reading :) Again, s I m p Also gaming!!! Is something fun I do sometimes!!! Although it's usually Genshin Impact, or Wii Sports/Resort w// my little sister. Oh, also pokemon! I rlly like Primarina, Vaporeon, Sylveon and Vulpix/Ninetails! I absolutely adore sweet foods, and baking is smthn I'm def interested in! Don't like foods w// weird textures though, like beans or mashed potatoes. Also I. Love spice so much. Mmm love it when my mouth burns so bad. Don't have a favorite animal but I've had three cats in my lifetime (btw not important but my current cat is named Sylvester and. He's my baby boy) so I am. how do you ART so good? like i was trying to come up with an actual specific question to ask you bc you're The Good At Art, but i can't because, well, there's SO MANY things you do well and i wanna know ALL your secrets. well ok i don't actually want to steal your secrets because that would be rude and mean of me, but like, seriously, do you have any advice? regardless, thank u for taking the time to read this! & i hope u have a nice week!

OH FRIENDE. I don’t know! :D Or like I kinda know but also don’t, so hope you’re ready for some advice that won’t get anyone any kind of good quick but like. the ida way. (Also please do steal all my secrets please I’m not an art dragon who guards her secrets furiously I’m a giving dragon who wants art people to have fun and learn from each other.) I’m the kinda ‘make work fun’ kind of a person who grows slowly but has a lot of fun on the way. xD I’m the epitome of fake it till you make it.

So. what I kinda did was find that thing I love drawing (f.ex. my own ocs! or a npc from a vidya game!), and draw nothing but that same thing for like five years.

because you know. repetition is the mother of all learning or something. >___>’’’’’’ -sweats-

I also drew nothing but dogs as commission for like a year. I hated it. It didn’t make me a better artist, except maybe in the patience department.

Sometimes I sucked, and suck! I post it anyway because there’s such a thing as sucking confidently and learning from what mistakes you recognize you made! But also not letting them stop you from producing content that you can still slap somewhere visible and sometimes get nice validating words on! Or don’t! But don’t throw it away either until you have too many files or papers to comfortably store. You need it for seeing how far you’ve come! Sometimes you can draw that thing AGAIN later and it’ll be cool! Like so (even the newer version is a couple of years old):

I also do a thing where I just. look at things. Look at them real hard but kinda idly (without looking like I’m staring if it’s a person). Like I’d sit in the car and daydream about how I’d brush stroke by brushstroke paint (as if I’m that deliberate) that cloud that I see through the window screen for HOURS. Can I do it in practice? NO! But in my dreams it’s awesome and I did learn Something! Take photos to use for reference later and never use them! You just have lots of pretty pictures in your camera then!

Sometimes you can just paint a whole picture in your head if you feel like. It doesn’t make a picture on paper! But it’s still practice! Really weird practice but it’s also fun!

Speaking of references - references are great! Use them! When you have the patience! Otherwise use them and then don’t use them when you’d need them a lot. Look at people’s elbows or how their arms and legs work and stuff them in the passive reference bank. VISUAL MEMORY. Mine sucks, just so we’re clear. My horses look like cows when I use visual memory. My dogs look cats because I live with a cat. But that’s okay! They can be like that until I need them to look right and get the references I need.

I have. so many thousands of screenshots. for reference. I never use them unless I’m drawing a NPC I’ve never drawn before or can’t draw for the life of me without looking directly at them. xD Like Ellie!

Read advice. Think on it. Don’t implement it if it doesn’t feel like your thing or just because someone told you to. You’re allowed to throw away advice and tips that don’t work for you. Like for a long time I read about clean lines and line economy and how they’re superior and how THIS is how you make them, and just went ‘I like my chicken scratches thank you’. I did end up with a lot cleaner lines eventually but I got there MY way and found my way to enjoy them! Like sometimes!!! you’re not ready for a certain piece of advice maybe, like skill-wise, or maybe sometimes you just disagree, period? At the time I did not have the skill or something something for lines like I do today (which still! aren’t super clean! and that’s okay!)! And I still like the chicken scrithces a lot, like that’s a style on its own! Scribble away confidently! If you find a new way to do things eventually and evolve in your art, that’s great!

Stabilizers are great! Like really nice!

Use colors that you like. Use colors that you like together! You’ll find the stuff that you think looks nice and will find new ways to combine them to make them EVEN BETTER.

Try out art tutorials sometimes just for the heck of it if you think they look promising. Sometimes you learn cool things!

Get ideas that are Ambitious. never doubt for a second your ability to at least TRY! When you go ‘I for sure can’t’ you stop trying things that seem to be above your skill level but may actually not be.

My art motto and motto in general is ‘of course I can’ in a lot of aspects. It sounds cocky but it also gets rid of the threshold where I teeter and just end up not even trying.

If something doesn’t work, try a different style instead of forcing it. When I get frustrated with lines, I end up painting everything. When “realism” (very loosely lmao) frustrates me, I draw chibis for three months. When you go back, you’ll find it tends to work better already.

Let yourself be lazy if you want to be and can be (i.e. are not working on a commission, for example). Everything doesn’t have to be super polished and correct when it’s just for fun.

OH! Important! FIND THE TOOLS AND PROGRAMS AND BRUSHES YOU ENJOY, but don’t be afraid to experiment! I paint in Medibang Paint Pro and use like THREE brushes, but mostly just two really. But also sometimes taking other brushes and seeing what they can do is super fun!

Also adjustment layers are your friend. I usually end up painting with too little contrast or too not saturated for my likes on the first try, and adjustments can really help with that! If there’s a tool for it it’s not cheating!!!

leaving something unfinishes is better than not trying at all

Recognize your flaws! Work on them when you have the time but you don’t have to become great at them right now immediately! There’s so many things to learn, it’s okay to take your time and do things in order that happens to work for you!

Um. idk that’s it? Draw a lot and have fun doing it and don’t feel bad when you don’t because progress happens even when you take breaks!!! I SWEAR. It’s called training your eye!!!

oh and also also: try drawing some moles or body hair or some stitches on a visible seam. I can’t even begin to describe how often that fools people into thinking that my art has more detail than it actually does.

And hmmmmmmmmmmm let’s say that Mako’s closer to Kiri and Tai to Baku, but not by much - a bit because Mako’s a high energy type of kid and Kiri has energy to spare always, a bit because Tai is the quiet type and Baku’s good at keeping him busy and entertained with things in his comfort zone, but also because back when they adopted Mako Bakugou was... really scared he would fuck it up so Mako ended up growing closer to Kiri first, and because when they adopted Tai Baku was the only one he for sure wasn’t gonna accidentally hurt with his quirk so he grew closer to Baku first. Bakugou’s also better at keeping calm and working out what’s the problem when the kids cry (surprisingly) (Kirishima more often than not ends up crying with them) so since Tai gets easily overwhelmed he seeks him out often - ah well, in general they’re all really close, but, yeah. This is how it is.

Hope you’re ready for this because I’m about to word vomit my love and adoration for Jungkook for 365 bulletpoints straight

first of all what isn’t there to love about him:

how did you get into editing pmd models? you're super good at them, and i'm considering taking it up. i was wondering, how/where did you pick it up?

oh boi oh geez where do i even begin omg (long post so i chucked the rest under the cut)

first thank you for your compliment hehe i really appreciate that!! but hmmm well- i started editing pmd/pmx models like aaaaaages ago i dont even remember much but generally for most beginners, lots of people tend to recolour (i mean i did it too when i first started hehe shout out to my zatsune model edit of animasa miku phew gud ol’ days) which is totally okay especially if you’re just figuring out how like colours/textures work and the whole material panel/subsets/i’m saying-weird-terminology-that-you-probably-don’t-get-yet pretty much all the tools and what they do that’s totally okay hehe once you poke around it for a while, you’ll get use to which tool does what and that’s all gud (i recommend getting the english translated version of PMDeditor (or PMX- i use PMX) because that’ll save you a lot of time (i use the japanese version because i’m weird and dumb and i’m still trying to figure stuff out myself to this day)

after that phase of recolouring (normally i wouldn’t recommend staying in this for long like, i recoloured 1 model and moved on straight away HAHA) at this point one of the most common and main styles of editing for starters is taking editable (or ‘legal’) parts from other models that allow editing (make sure stuff is editable before you do anything or you could get in trouble), and then piecing it together to form your own cool new model edit yeyeye, there should be plenty of tutorials how to do this and how to avoid glitches with joints/physics/bones and stuff so if you want, just hmu privately and i can quest for some for you, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to find!!

usually lots of people generally stay in that area of editing which is totally chill as well, with practice and constant improvement you could like reach some good levels of work from just part-editing itself, ive seen it happen many many times!!

otherwise the other option you could go down is what i generally do nowadays for editing- and that’s i guess, ‘modelling parts’ (which is what most people call it) or ‘meta-editing’- it involves pretty much, chucking a base into an external 3D program to build clothes/your own parts and then re-rig it entierly again in PMXeditor (i’m a lil tired asf but i have a tutorial tab on my tumblr page where i go more in depth on this and where to start if this is what you wanna do) thoUGH keep in mind, it’s probably best you get use to using PMX and all the terminolgy and such before anything or else it’ll be like what whAT WHat

personally i think that this ‘meta-editing’ method is almost the more easier and safer route, though when you’re starting out it’s like ‘MmMM shit’ but trust me it’s…. imo it’s easier than part-editing (because i used to do that too) mostly because 1. you just make your shit rather than find it (sometimes some parts aren’t even ever made) and 2. you avoid breaking rules completely because heck ur doing it 100% urself wat are rules (aside from obviously your base model’s rules haha)

i forgot what else i wanted to say um

oh yeah well- this is like the basic of the basic explanations, i need you to be more specific if you want me to teach you stuff but the least i can do now is give you a brief overview?? but das it ehe

otherwise some tips i’d like to mention as well which have nothing to do with the actual practice, are as follows:

#1 tip: that i donnn’t think i’ve ever preached on this blog before but i might as well start bc it’s important!!! try ur best to remain humble/modest watever- honestly i think….. if you start thinking you’re some God level editor or watever that’s when…… improvement kinda halts……. so even though it might be kinda ehhh, be a little harsh on yourself- you’re your own critic and it’s better to recognise your faults before someone else points them out for you (because that can hurt heaps, but i mean if u hate urself first nobody else can amirITE AMIRITE i’m kidding don’t hate urself)

i, for one am always very horrible to myself with my edits- like i dislike a looot of them which is actually kinda terrible LMAOO so i don’t recommend like hating everything you do because that ruins the fun- and sometimes it might even push you to stop entirely (i’ve known friends that have quit because they couldn’t get it right etc.) as long as you realise that whatever you do currently isn’t going to be as great as what you do later in life, then you’re like guranteed to improve no doubt about it- in a way, you’re not putting any limitations on yourself so you can grow from that! just continue to persevere, some people don’t improve until a looot later and some people improve like within weeks- so don’t let that get to you either!!! i’ve been doing this shit for like ages and i still am not as good as like actual modellers because i’ve just…. been too comfortable and improved only as an editor askdajsk

#2 tip: do not compare yourself to others especially when you’re first starting out- i’ve had…… quite a number of people compare themselves to me which is….. to say the least……. quite uncomfortable for the person you’re comparing yourself to??? because you gotta keep in mind how long people have been doing stuff (like this is my 6th year and literally everyday i’ve opened up PMX or metasequoia and i’ve toyed around for at least an hour) and idk just try not to compare yourself- because i know it’s kinda difficult not to but trust me, try to walk your own path you can create your own shit without necassarily comparing- unless you’re comparing to improve yourself whiiich leads me to my #3 tip

#3 tip: do not be afraid to mimic styles or toy with styles, i mean do not claim a certain style as your own that’s a HUGE nono, but it doesn’t hurt to like attempt to mimic someone who you look up to, and their style in order to help you improve and find your own style!! i personally mimic artists (rather than MMDers/editors) when i do my edits and then i started to develop my own kinda style??? like i still do a lot of imitation ‘edits’ which are those anime edits you see every now and again (like my yoi models or my binan models) and that’s fine!!! i think the most improvement i’ve ever had in terms of face-editing and stuff have come from me trying to imitate art of others (instead of just blindly going for my own style from the getgo) and this goes for drawing too!!! hell i still ‘mimic’ styles whenever i do any edits that have already an art design for?? i like accuracy first and then i play my style into it later and that’s totally cool too!! as long as you correctly credit and don’t claim as your own, you can’t really go much wrong (unless the person is like hey? can u pls stop? then ya don’t HAHA) i once had an incident back when i was a baby editor where i,,,,,,, kind of recreated someone else’s style of model edit line into like a different model style (in this case it was LAT so that’s how long ago it was) and then redistributed without their prior permission and ya that was bad don’t do that HAHA

and ya that should be it, i wrote this like 60 years ago and it’s been sitting in my drafts and i totally forgot about it until today so i hope that helps ya out!!
