i don't really know how 1633s who are mainly rooting for charles do it 😭 i respect it though. i enjoy them both, and i was a hardcore 1633 a few years ago but as the year pass unfortunately that has tempered a little, and i think i let the bitterness get to me a bit. this isn't to say that i don't like max, i still very much do, i still think he's talented and deserve all the praise he is getting, but every time i see him in conversations for "the all time greats" i just think about how so far the conversation charles is in so far would be "top drivers to not win a championship" (adding "yet" to that, i don't like how definitive these conversations can be).

i think about how max's manager said in 2022 that charles is just as talented as Max it's just that he never got the car to stand a chance. when he said that, max only had one championship but now he's fighting for a fifth and we haven't had a consistent title fight between them yet. i also think about when max said he wasn't sure if he couldve won a championship in that ferrari given how "fragile they were" while he confidently said he would win in the mclaren. Just a lot of thoughts about everything tbh.

a lot of max fans are quick to write charles off, forgetting that he hasn't even stood a chance yet. it's just a bit sad, is all.

now people still say charles is the only one (most of the time anyway) who doesn't let himself get bullied by max and has shown that max can be beaten in wheel to wheel. i used to be filled with pride at that but now it's just... eh.

have you never had these thoughts before? bc i'll be honest sometimes even if max absolutely deserves the praise i just get very annoyed, even if i like him (obviously not as much as charles). never seen any 1633s talk about this either.

For the time being I'm content that history is still being written, and I do still honestly have complete faith that Charles will win championships, and it's enough for me in the waiting time that I know his skill, as does every WDC who is ever asked about him. I block anyone who writes Charles off though, so I do exist in a bubble but it makes my experience more enjoyable. What makes it even more enjoyable is hearing loads of people online/irl laugh off the current possible championship battle and dream of a Charles/Max fight instead.

Re: fandom. I have drifted away from lestappen fandom more over the past several months though because of the fanon interpretation of Charles that's taken root and I dislike because of my support of Charles. There's other factors in my general drift away from lestappen, like how a lot of the fic nowadays feels like generic heteronormative dark romance for some reason, and just general ooc characters. I'm just listing my own gripes, but the slide into more heternormative fanon means that Charles always ends up typecast very damsel in distress and quote unquote "silly" who is saved by big strong world champion Max. Which is fine, it's people's fantasies at the end of the day but it's not how I envisage the dynamic and I dislike what it does to Charles. I still love the dynamic and some fic gets it still and eats, but the online pairing has become overly popular amongst solo Max fans now (which, let's be real is because Charles is becoming more and more self-insert) which leaves diehard Charles fans like me a bit adrift. I still adore lestappen, and my interpretation of it but I do think current fanon just completely ignores Charles' drives and wants and fears in favour of a big fantasy about Max, it always feels like Charles' insanity is written as "failing" or "bad idea" whereas Max's insanity is rewarded.

This turned into a little but of a rant, but basically yes I want Charles to win, and if Charles doesn't win I want Max to win but I'm not sure I'd fully classify myself as "crazed lestappie" anymore even though I love the ship because it's not the fanon ship it was a year ago and I've grown a lot less tolerant of those talking down Charles' talent since then even implicitly.

I recently saw an anti-Curlya fanart on Twitter where the idea was that Curly would never prioritize Anya's well-being regardless of whether Jimmy was there or not. The funny thing is that afterwards the person put a disclaimer saying ""I have nothing against the ship or those who ship it, BUT....". It's funny to say that after getting a bunch of people together to talk in a passive-aggressive way about the ship, the people who like it and even about heterosexual relationships in general.

If you dislike and are bothered so much by a ship, why interact with their community? I blocked the artist but I wonder, why, dude?

Oh I'm pretty sure I saw that one too. It's a real issue especially with those people that are so completely 100% convinced that every single man is the exact same towards women or in general with casual misogyny. And it's even worse with Curly, when we see him immediately prioritise Anya once he learns about what happens, he doesn't bother her about the gun anymore and reassures her constantly that they're going to fix this together.

I think it's personally fine to not like men, a lesbian's standpoint is obvious "of course we don't like men" but unnecessarily hating them for no reason and being extremely dismissive or cruel towards isn't going fto fix the patriarchy or unrape women and at the end of the day its just extremely redundant.

You could say that Curly has moments of casual misogyny, I wouldn't, but you're allowed to say that he does. But I don't think he is an offender, nor a problem. So seeing people make him out to be just like Jimmy (or worse in some cases) is one hell of a character assassination.

People choose to interact purposefully with the things they don't like because they're inflammatory and hateful, and then going as far to say "I have nothing against the ship, but" is redundant and ridiculously fucking stupid. It's fine you don't like the ship! If you want to have a headcanon that Curly is a raging misogynistic creep, sure! whatever! Just keep it a million miles away from me and the actual canon of the story, please and thanks.

I'm not going to say that people are discriminatory or oppressive towards Heterosexual ships because thats just not true, but it starts getting a bit uncomfortable if you're one of the people that constantly complain and hate on Het ships and the people that actually ship them. Look, I like reading Stolago fanfics and all that, but I'd be lying if I said that Stolago shippers don't come out with some of the worst takes I've ever seen in regards to Stolitz, so allow me to weigh in my opinion on this.

Short Answer: Stolago would not work in canon.

Long Answer:

Point 1: The 'is Stolago an incest ship' debate.

We don't know. It's implied that Paimon has given birth to a lot of children and can change animal forms, making it very possible that Stolago is an incest ship, but at the same time, that doesn't automatically mean that Vassago is biologically related to Stolas, so I can't make a judgement on this point until we know more about Vassago's character.

Point 2: But Stolas went with the BTB guy!

Pay close attention to Stolas and Blitz after the BTB guy asks Stolas to dance with him, notice how Stolas was basically silently asking Blitz for permission to dance with the BTB guy, and Blitz also silently gives permission for Stolas to dance with the BTB guy. So it's not like Stolas just went 'oh cool this guy wants me, fuck you Blitz I'm fucking dancing', and that silent act of asking for permission proves my point.

Also, Stolas was very drunk during this section, and we know people who are drunk don't tend to think very clearly, so I really cannot blame Stolas for having that dance with the BTB guy, especially when we factor in the cocktail of everything being emotionally heavy for Stolas, and Stolas generally feeling alone and isolated during most of the party.

Plus, Stolas has no history with the BTB guy at all, so even if it does turn into a one night stand for Stolas, there's not gonna be much emotional connection between them. One of the main reasons Stolas fell for Blitz like he did is because of their shared history, all those years ago at the circus.

What was the point of me mentioning all of this exactly? The point is that Stolas and Vassago also have no shared history with each other to what we know, plus, Stolas quite literally says in s2 e1 "my first ever friend!". Plus, it expresses my dislike of the 'Vassago could be a rebound for Stolas' that I've seen float around a few times.

Point 3: Stolas has moved on/will move on from Blitz.

Ah yes, this Stolas?

The same Stolas that silently asked Blitz for permission to go dance with the BTB guy?

"would be an indicator I didn't want to talk right now."

"Seeing you right now is hard!"

Notice the phrase of "right now" that's used twice?

Stolas at no point said he never wanted to talk to Blitz again, only that he wasn't comfortable with doing so right now, because the emotions associated with that night are still very heavy and hard to process for Stolas.

This fact is further backed up by the fact that Stolas never blocked Blitz's phone number.

Point 4: "Blitz is just an asshole who feels no remorse for the things he's done to others."

I could dive deep into Blitz's character to disprove this point, but I'll let the examples do the talking for me.

Plus, not to mention all the times in the past where it's been shown that Blitz cares for Stolas, including his wellbeing.

I'm not even gonna bother covering this point, you clearly haven't been paying any attention to the show at all if you unironically think that Stolitz has no chemistry.

Point 7: "What about a love triangle?"

Finally, I'd like to briefly talk about how Stolago being canon would undermine the plot of helluva boss by quite a bit.

Stolitz is one of the key relationships in the show, and the show revolves around Blitz, including his relationships, so naturally Stolitz is one of the key things for Blitz's character growth, so ending Stolitz for Stolago permanently would stunt Blitz's character growth quite significantly, undermining the plot of the show as a result.

Not to mention it'd also undermine Stolas' character growth as well, considering one of the main things that Stolas needs to work on is the classism, and rebounding to another prince won't help with Stolas unlearning his biases and such, overall making Stolago a rather bad idea for the plot as well.

Plus, even if Stolago was to become canon, it most likely isn't lasting more than an episode anyways, because this scene in the trailer could imply to us that Stolitz is getting a new beginning.

Another thing is that we know nothing about Vassago at the moment, and the things we can imply about him in regards to his title of prince points more to Vassago being a support figure/friend for Stolas (something Stolas badly needs atm) rather than a rebound for Stolas.

I will repeat, I enjoy Stolago in fanfiction and such, but can you all at least admit it's a bad idea in canon and to stop hating on Blitz so much and accept both Stolas and Blitz for the fact that they're both lovable and flawed characters please?

99.9% sure T is coming back and people are dooming because lfjr was filming on the same block and there’s a helipad on the rooftop he posted BUT I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing… I know nobody wants to deal with that insufferable part of the fandom but I could see them bringing him back for closure and Buck (once again) trying to misplace his feelings for Eddie onto T until T finally makes him realize it was never about him at all. It’s ALWAYS been Eddie. As much as I don’t want to see that man again I think it would make for dramatic TV lol and it would put the nail into the coffin for BT forever! Also I remember Tim saying in an interview after 8x07 I think that T is in Buck’s romantic past for sure but he may intersect with T in this universe again… so I’m almost positive this lfjr appearance is not a reconciliation and rather just another way for a plot device to do what they do best and move the plot :)

Okay, my inbox is flooding with L and T messages right now, so I want to address this now, before it explodes completely.

I'm addressing this using this ask by a very clever anon. Why? Well Nonny?! I think you make an excellent point!

Let's look at this logically, without any emotions involved. The problem with T right now is that all of our experiences with this character and actor are clouded with negative emotions.

Why? Well... you all know why right?

So let's get rid of all of these emotions for a moment. And let's look at this from a pure narrative point of view.

Say T does come back. So what?

Can he stop Buddie at this point? No. That ship has loooong sailed and to be honest... there was never a contest to begin with. Eddie has always been more important to Buck than T ever was. It's obvious from the last episodes that Buck is very close to figuring out his feelings for Eddie. So T is no threat whatsoever.

So why would he be there? Well, logically speaking it would be an interesting choice for T to run into Buck and mention something about Eddie, cue Buck starting to question what exactly it is he feels for Eddie.

Way back when, right after 7x04, L did an interview where he talked about T being some kind of a stepping stone for Buck to realise he really wanted Eddie. Around that time Oliver did an interview saying that he really wanted T and Buck to stay in contact and that T could be some kind of wise queer person who kind of helps him figure things out.

What if this is what we are seeing right now?

If T is back-- and I'm using a big IF here, because I'm still not so sure whether or not he will be-- he could be there to be a catalyst into both Buck and Eddie figuring out what they feel for each other.

He could be a 'stepping stone' aka a 'plot device' to get the main ship together.

I'm just saying--

If he is back it is not for a round 2 of BT. That obviously didn't work out very well for either of them. So the only logical explanation is that he is there to push the Buddie narrative along like a good plot device does.

Honestly, I'd rather not see the man back either, but the reason for that isn't that he could threaten Buddie. It never was about that. There was no competition there to begin with.

I don't want to see him back because I really dislike the way some of his more ardent stans have treated me and the rest of this fandom from the moment he kissed Buck. I'm simply tired of dealing with these people.

So let's stop spiraling over this please. If (big IF here) T is back, he is there for a purpose. I can guarantee you that that purpose? It's Buddie-related.

i feel like i see a post in the fandom tag at least once a week now along the lines of "i really don't like mello x near it makes me uncomfortable..." which is like. fine, actually! these posts are not so bothersome as long as you're not putting it in the ship tag, and i haven't really seen it cropping up in the ship tag of late! so thanks @ the dislikers for exercising proper manners and so on (<- sincere). all this being said, i have to ask:

are you aware that you can block tags and post content?

there are a lot of new users on the site, i think, and people newish to the DN fandom in particular, so i ask this in a genuine manner with absolutely no malice or ill will. i'm not trying to be a dick and dunk on anyone who doesn't know how to use tumblr yet. it's not an intuitive website. HOWEVER, one of the nicer features of tumblr is that there are baked-in features that allow you to take measures to avoid content you find offputting!

in order to access these features, you'll want to go to settings and then to account. you will see the two following sections:

as you can see. i use both of these tools :) [no hate to the moonriver and x reader girlies it's just not my thing and i didn't want to have to edit this screenshot bc i'm making the post on the fly all quick-like ;_;]

there are differences between these two features:

if you filter a tag, the post will be obscured on your dashboard and in the tags, even if the person who reblogged it didn't tag it, so long as the original poster did tag it (this is very handy for most ship content you don't want to see, because if you have enough iterations of the ship name blocked, very few posts slip through, even if you follow people who don't make a habit of tagging things). it will not, however, remove the post from your dashboard if the word / ship name is just mentioned in the post. that's where the second one comes in.

if you filter post content, any posts with the contained words will be obscured on your dashboard and in the tags. this is especially handy if you have a particular user whose posts bother you; you can put their URL into "filtered post content" and VOILA all their posts are behind a veil of mystery! now isn't that nifty. ofc, you can also just block people, but that doesn't remove their posts from your dashboard if someone you follow reblogs them, so this is a bit more of a ~complete~ method, and it's a nice one to use if you prefer not to have an extensive blocklist.

it may take some tweaking to figure out all the different tags and "content" you want to block -- i still occasionally find new ship name iterations i need to add -- but overall, this does generally do the trick! best of luck out there <3

1. Do you guys consider yourself genuinely dating the character? Some do, some don't ! I personally do ! Those who do treat it like a genuine relationship are very much aware they are fictional, given another term in our community "Fictoromantic/Fictosexual" ! Fictos/Yumes can have real partners while yumeshipping also ! I have a boyfriend myself haha. He is also ficto !

2. Do you dislike other or have a hatred for others who self ship with your f/o? I do not ! some do, but as a nonsharer myself, i'll just block so i don't have to see that content ! It is nothing against the person who owns the blog - I mean, my wife is lovely, i understand why others would love her hehe. 99% of nonsharers are really chill people, it's unfortunate we get such a bad rep from those who want to harass over it !!

3. How should I interact with someone who has an f/o? Is there anything I shouldnt do or say? As you would anyone else, really ! As for things not to say, it's pretty simple - Stuff like, "They wouldn't love you" or telling them to get help, as yumeshipping is most likely a coping mechanism, and can be very hurtful to hear !

I'm really sorry to hear you're going through this, anon. I'm even sadder that it's not an uncommon story.

As another trans writer (trans woman, in my case) that's stumbled into other people eviscerating her works for "fetishizing" and being "het in f/f's clothing" I really sympathize with you, dude. The way I look at it is that you cannot try alter who you are for these people. They will always find a way to dislike you because you are their ideological enemy. They dislike seeing trans men in what they see as their ship tags, not yours, so they will always find something they view as a flaw and flog you for it until you either conform or leave.

I've had a similar experience to yours, though not a literal thread dedicated to me. Ouch. I write f/f and sometimes that features non-op/pre-op trans characters because I am personally non-op after many years on E, and I'm always astounded by how it obviously upsets people that otherwise claim to be progressive. I also tag things extensively and I even include some terminology clarifications at the beginning of smut fics so that everyone knows what they're getting into. It doesn't matter to them. It'll never matter to them what you or I do, so why bother trying to coddle them?

There are readers that like my works, but after walking into a fandom Discord's NSFW fic channel, I saw how many people assume that my fics are written by a cis person or the fabled Dirty Fetishizer. It's one thing to intellectually know this happens and another to see your own work - something that you as a trans person created to talk about some part of yourself - ripped apart as this nasty tripe that no "real" trans person would write or read.

To make matters worse, I saw all that after I went through a rather nasty spate of transphobic anons when the fandom was very young. It was so tiring. I was exhausted. Seeing virulent hate in the real world and then having it thrown in my face for writing characters in a way that people disagreed with was just too much for me.

My way of dealing with this was disengaging from my own fandom, turning off anons on tumblr, and blocking anyone I even felt slightly annoyed by just in case it boiled over into something else. It sucks, but it's how I continue to have fun with writing for my ships. I basically never go into my ship tags on Tumblr now, I curate whose fics I read carefully, and I only hang out in one Discord server that's very small. I still read and comment on others' works when I have the mental bandwidth for it, but I avoid most other writers, especially those I don't know just in case they're part of that -phobe segment, and keep the most vocally unpleasant authors permanently muted for my own sake.

Frankly, it is what it is, as thought terminating as that phrase can be, and I gave up trying with these people/this fandom. You could keep trying to interact with the greater fandom, but you should block the assholes that disregarded your lived experience for your own mental health.

It's an isolating process for sure, but that's why I supplemented it with seeking out other fandom friends, most of whom are trans. Maybe we disagree with headcanons, and in a lot of cases we're polar opposites, but we all stick together because otherwise we're all thrown into isolation. That, and I always try to focus on the folks that do like what I write.

Hello, may we know what are your thoughts about ita/saku

I dislike ItaS*ku. A lot. Detailed answer below the cut.

I don't understand this ship and it's the only Itachi ship that makes no sense and that I cannot tolerate. Everyone else he's shipped with acknowledged him in some way, understood him to some extent, and thematically they were compatible. Even if I see Itachi and Sasuke's relationship as perfectly, strictly platonic, I understand why people see the potential for more in them and why they want to explore this in their fics or art. It's the same with ShiIta and KisaIta and the rarepairs like KakaIta and ItaDei. But ItaS*ku is a pairing that makes zero sense to me.

Itachi is perceptive, thoughtful, puts his own needs aside, takes up the responsibility when he does wrong and tries to change his approach, doesn't need and ask for other people's help, and has self-respect. Sakura is the complete opposite but in a bad way. She isn't perspective, is selfish, her own needs come first - the world can go to hell, and has no self-respect. They aren't a match in any way. Their "polar opposite" isn't endearing under any circumstances.

She has a "girlboss" like personality or that's how she's presented. She's badass, a quick learner, strong, powerful etc., but she's not compatible with Itachi just for those reasons. To make them work as a ship, Sakura's characterization would have to change enormously. She'd have to be completely ooc for that.

In canon too, she saw Sasuke change his mind about Itachi, and while Naruto and Kakashi at least acknowledged it, Sakura never bothered to know about the truth. He, too, never acknowledged her presence except for a scene in one of the movies. In canon, never. She was nonexistent to him and he was just Sasuke's enemy to her. Why would I really ship them together.

With Itachi's other ships there's love, understanding, and compassion, and/or at least some thematic relevance which Ita/Saku entirely lacks. It's not the case of 'she's too good for Itachi' as many of her fans want to claim in regards to both Itachi and Sasuke. She's not a bad character and I like her, but ItaS*ku doesn't work as a ship.

I'll be tagging this post properly, so if anyone comes here with flaming response they'll be blocked. In case you read it this far, feel free to ignore if you ship these two characters or are a Sakura fan.

Not a batcest shipper but your brudick propaganda helped me understand the context behind how these characters were written and how real life affected their characterizations. I don't think I can ever become a batcest shipper, I find the idea of Bruce and dick being brothers who's relationship is constantly evolving but always having that foundation of trust and deep understanding far too interesting, but I do understand why some ppl are. I find it interesting how fandom tries so hard sanitise and arrange relationships and dynamics into neat little easily digestible boxes and in the process of doing so we sometimes strip the most interesting parts of these characters

Ppl are taking these polls a tad bit too seriously and I feel like ppl just need to learn how to block, move on and not actively try to consume things that make them so upset. So 👍🏿

I totally respect not being a batcest shipper. everyone has their likes and dislikes. I really appreciate you listening to what I had to say though. even without shipping Brudick, I think it's important to understand the history behind it. if only to deeper your understanding of their bond (platonic or not) and just Batman comics in general.

it's not even just fandom that's trying to box the relationships into easy to understand categories. DC has really been pushing the Batfamily into those categories too. that's why, even if you hate batcest (not talking about you specifically) you should also be upset about the current state of found family in DC.

complex relationships like Bruce and Dick, (like you said they had a very interesting brotherly relationship,) that's being reduced to Bruce being Dick's dad and that's all. even if you always read them with parental undertones, which you definitely could, that was never all they were.

though fandom has been taking that and running with it and it makes it hard to have nuanced conversations about character dynamics. I mentioned Dick and Jason in one of my responses and like. part of their fun was that they were sorta brothers but they were also just two guys that had a mutual connection to a very important person in their lives. but now they're just brothers. that's all. Dick isn't allowed to have complex feelings about Jason, that's just his baby brother. that's all.

I love mama bird Dick, don't get me wrong, but he's not a character to just sit there and have no complex feelings about people. sometimes it feels like Dick is made of conflicted feelings.

Dick doesn't need to call Dick dad for there to be a mutual understanding that Bruce did help raise him.

I just read an excellent post regarding Mouthwashing and Outlast, and I'd like to add my two cents;

TL:DR: Avoid Reddit fanbases if you can. That's my suggestion. Both have bad eggs but Mouthwashing has acted much more poorly.

A lot of the Mouthwashing fanbase is teenagers. Like I don't want to rush and say the majority nor say that's a bad thing, but unfortunately it certainly feels that way, and with a game like Mouthwashing, its younger audience clearly cannot handle its taboo topics being discussed or written about without frothing at the mouth.

I have, actually, called them out on this before, in regards to people shipping the characters, specifically Jimmy x Anya. It's not everybody's cup of tea [for obvious reasons], but it's a dark ship. Dark romance has existed for a long time. After doing so I had more than 3 people thank me and say they liked Mouthwashing because they could explore dark elements without judgement. Now it's gone to hell in a hand basket.

A common argument I see is, "this game isn't for shipping!!". Who are you to decide that? Outlast isn't a game for shipping, either. It's almost as if Jimmy x Anya is like a really popular ship within the Outlast fandom that involves sexual assault and murder...hmmmm...oh, right, Eddie x Waylon. Which has been around for a decade, now.

It's almost as if the whole point is that these ships are complex, are dark in nature and add spice. Not every ship needs to be uwu so wholesome. Daisuke x Anya is generally well accepted as well as Curly x Anya, but are we forgetting that Curly brushed off Anya when she needed him? And yet he's worshipped.

Shipping is going to be done. Funny how this game "isn't for shipping" until the ship involves its Golden Boys, Daisuke and Curly. It's not for shipping unless you ship in the way that they like. I see those ships all the time.

Not every ship has to be sweet. Anya x Jimmy can be symbolic, a dark ship, and many other things. If you dislike it, block it. I did back when I first joined. You cannot control what other's do. They don't deserve harassment because you can't use a block button.

Mouthwashing and its characters are complex and, in my honest opinion, deserve to be debated and worked with without people screaming and crying over it. No DaisukesWifeyKawaiixoxo, somebody calling Jimmy a "pitiful antagonist" doesn't mean they're enabling him, it means Jimmy thinks he's doing the right thing and he's suffering. You can pity a piece of shit. That's very much possible.

In the years that I've been in the Outlast fandom, I've seen maturity and the understanding that Outlast is really fucking dark. They're either fully black on the spectrum, or close to it. It's a game with shitty characters. You can't be hated on if every character sucks morally. Pick your Morally Unhealthy Character, everybody! Step on up!

Of course I've seen the Reddit fanbase throw fits over the Tumblr fandom ["don't go onto Tumblr, it's g-g-g-g-GROSS!!!" as if y'all don't like a game where Gooseberry thrusts her drill up somebody's ass right in front of you and Trager cuts your fingers off...come on now] but the Tumblr fandom has been mature, respectful [except for some of the things I've received in my inbox...yeesh] and overall understanding of the game that they enjoy.

Mouthwashing has morals in it. Not every character is an "uwu" or a piece of garbage. Their morals and their actions are to be questioned, they are not black and white.

I'm unsure if it's unspoken, but in fandom, it's a rule to not be a dick. People shipping and writing fanfics and making oc's are not threats to you. You want to enjoy the game as is? Nobody is stopping you! People enjoying fandom content aren't hurting you! Block and ignore. That's literally what the Mouthwashing sidebar reads:

Withholding horror fandoms from teenagers isn't something I'm trying to imply, but if they're unable to understand the source material and act accordingly, they fuck up the content and fandom for pretty much everybody else trying to enjoy what the fandom can supply. The game's devs made the game dark and that was okay, but it's not okay for fans to do the same with fanfics and fanart? Bffr.

If you cannot handle fandoms being...fandoms, then don't join one. Other people shouldn't have to suffer because you lack maturity.

Let's not even bring up how SA victims have talked about Anya x Jimmy helping them understand their abuse and they were told to kill themselves and to "shut the fuck up and get help". I've had to WITNESS these events before I left the fandom. I was in shock.

I've yet to touch the TikTok/X side - why would I? Ew... - and it's partially at fault for why the fandom acts this way. Being an asshole and thinking it's okay because somebody likes a character YOU don't personally like is becoming an issue.

At the end of the day, none of these people exist. Do I want Jimmy to fuck off? Absolutely! But guess what, he's fictional and I can block tags about him, fanfics, fanart, whatever. I'd rather people enjoy fictional assholes than go and get themselves involved with a real life asshole.

Fiction is not reality. Somebody drawing Jimmy doesn't make them an apologist and a piece of shit. Somebody drawing Jimmy and Curly interacting - which is what happened SEVERAL TIMES during the game - are not gross dark shippers. Somebody giving Jimmy a character analysis that isn't "Jimmy's a piece of shit lol swag!" doesn't make them an apologist.

Dark characters, shipping, fanfiction, fanart, cosplays, original characters and other fandom things will exist regardless of if you like them or not. The world doesn't revolve around you. The block button is your best friend who you keep leaving on read because it's apparently more satisfactory to make people feel guilty about fictional characters.

What makes the fandoms different is the fact that the Outlast fandom;

Separates fiction from reality

Acknowledges that liking a character =/= liking their actions

Is respectful about fandom content [most]

The Mouthwashing community has difficulties doing so. Like you cannot enjoy a horror fandom and throw a shitfit when somebody makes DARK CONTENT. Did you want it to be full of puppies and cotton candy?

Your comfort matters, obviously, but there's a fine line between boundaries and controlling. "I dislike ship art of Jimmy and Anya, so I'll block it" is different from "I hate Jimmy x Anya so NOBODY should make it because I don't like it". If that fandom saw Franco Barbi or Val they'd have a stroke.

Normally I wouldn't address something this trivial but it's a take I keep seeing pop up in the moomin fandom by non moomin fans and it's annoying me. I don't even ship snufmin but periodic reminder that

1. Snufkin and moomin are around the same age. This confusion pops up a lot since the English VA for the 90s series is John Chancer and moomintroll's VA sounds like a child, but no explicit ages are ever given to any of the characters for the intention of whimsy and easy of story telling. This is intentional. The gap between their ages has always been that the children are younger than the "adult" characters, and old enough for whatever adventure is planned for them, and that Moomintroll and snufkin are close enough in age to share a room. Any idea that one is older than the other at all would be speculative at best and fanon at worst.

2. Snufkin is not a human, and a relationship between two fantasy species does not at all mirror the very real crime of animal abuse (I can't believe I have to say that, did you people have a problem with beauty and the beast, too? Lmao)

3. Snufkin was made to resemble or mirror Tove's at the time partner Atos Wirtanen, and Moomintroll represented herself at the time as well. She's said as much in interviews. While this doesn't mean "O: snufmin canon!" It also means you cannot discredit the fact that their dynamic was predicated on an existing romantic relationship.

4. Whether you ship it or not or even find the ship annoying, you can't discredit facts. You're allowed to just not like something. But I'd also remind you that nobody wants to hear about how much you hate what they like. Live and let live, there is 0 harm occurring in either circumstance regarding this situation. It is simply not that serious

5. This is specifically addressed to the person who annoyed me who I blocked but the English translations really do not lose or gain much compared to the original versions. The stories don't change just because it's in another language. I'm sorry you hate that a beloved series of stories was adapted to animation and translated so that the world could love these stories, too, but part of cherishing something is not squeezing it so tight that you crush it. You simply must face that people are going to enjoy things differently to you. It is not blasphemy. The moomins are not some sacred holy text, you can literally buy chewing gum with moomins face on it lmao

Like I said I don't really ship it. I don't see it. But it's not something I'm going to bother others about and dwell on. It's not out of character. There's no real reason for you to bash so hard on it outside of just generally disliking it.
