Having a job where i have to interact with coworkers all day has really made me notice how bad my social skills are
#like i like focus HARD on the work and i find it really hard to talk at the same time#which is interesting because i know my family/friends probably think i talk TOO much but its totally different depending on who im around#like if im with friends or people i feel really confortable with i can infodump for half an hour on shit they dont care about#but with my coworkers who are all adult men mostly 10+ years older than me and im laying i completely forget to talk#so with me its either non stop bullshit or just that fluoride stare#i know some coworkers are ok with it but i have at least one who clearly isnt a fan of long silences and tries to make conversation and#i realise i CANNOT hold a conversation with him so i probably come off as super boring#and even went prompted (asked a question) i usually just say Okey like ness and then go silent again#i dont mind that much but then sometimes i think back and im like wow. He was trying to talk to me and i probably came off as really boring#or shy or a stuck up bitch. which i dont think im any of#anyway im the 😐🧍autistic for real

how do you think evnne show and live to receive love? like their love language? i think leejeong’s is words of affirmation but idk about the others 🥺💛
🫧 evnne’s love language 🫧
pairing: boyf!evnne x gn!reader
genre: fluff
warnings: mentions of food (hanbin)
a/n: this is so cute omfg, i totally agree abt jeognhyeon !!! i was talking to a friend about it last night actually, great minds think like hehe
giving : how they show love
receiving : how they would like to be shown love
𓆉 keita
⋆ giving - quality time - keita has a very hectic schedule most of the time, but he’ll always find time for you. he’ll dictate to other people what hours he’s working or seeing them just to be with you. your dates are usually just you two talking for hours, getting lost in silly conversations that eventually become such a sweet memory for you both to look back on.
⋆ receiving - acts of service - without you, he always felt like something was going wrong. with you by his side, he feels prepared for anything. you’re always one step ahead when it comes to doing things for him, like, you know hours before him if he’s forgotten something, and you manage to get it to him before he can even realise.
other members under the cut
𓆉 hanbin
⋆ giving - acts of service - doing your hair, making you food, taking pictures of you, closing your backpack when you forgot to, he’ll do anything he can to show you how much he cares, and it all comes so naturally to him sometimes he doesn’t even realise that he’s doing it. he just hopes you don’t feel guilty because he genuinely enjoys doing these little things for you.
⋆ receiving - physical touch - sure, hanbin likes big hugs and long cuddles, but he also likes the way you rub your thumb on his when you hold hands, and how you lock arms with him in busy crowds, how you absentmindedly spin his rings on his fingers when your sat together. small touches that let him know that you need him and genuinely like having him around. they’re so meaningful to him.
𓆉 jeonghyeon
⋆ giving - gift giving - (honestly, i see him doing all 5 an equal amount). he always picks up things that make you question does he know you better than you know yourself!? everything that he chooses to buy you is perfect for you, and he knows it, but he still hands it to you with a shy smile and waits to see your reaction.
⋆ receiving - words of affirmation (everyone act shocked) - jeonghyeon relies heavily on being told and reassured that he is doing well, that he’s looking good and that you still really like him. he finds comfort in being told that you’re proud of him, too, it makes him feel all warm inside. even though, sometimes, hearing it can make him tear up, he’s smitten whenever you compliment him.
𓆉 seungeon
⋆ giving - quality time - seungeon doesn’t get easily distracted when he’s with you, you’re all he cares about and so whenever you spend time together, you have his undivided attention. he plans dates like picnics or stargazing, where there’s not too much to do other than talk to each other and be with each other in that moment.
⋆ receiving - physical touch - combined with quality time, you try to encapsulate them both in the moments you spend together. he loves nothing more than being held, protected by you, because he feels safe and cosy with you. there is absolutely no where else in the world he’d rather be than in your arms, probably chatting about something completely irrelevant.
𓆉 yunseo
⋆ giving - physical touch (everyone act shocked pt.2) - bro literally cannot keep his hands off you when he likes you. and you’re the only one he wants to hug and cuddle and hold hands with, of course. he likes how it calms you and grounds you after a long or stressful day, and how his touch can instantly make you blush. he wants you to know that he’s always there for you, literally a shoulder to cry on whenever you need.
⋆ receiving - quality time - honestly, just be there for him. he knows you both have pretty busy schedules now that you’re adults, so any time you do get to spend together is so precious, and if you make time just to be with him, well that definitely shows him how much you really love him and want to be with him.
𓆉 junghyun
⋆ giving - words of affirmation - junghyun is never too shy to tell you how you make him feel. he’s forever telling you how much he admires you, how he looks up to you just for being the person you are. although his intention is never to make you shy, he loves how you blush at his honesty, he hopes it’s building your confidence, because you definitely deserve it.
⋆ receiving - gift giving - you thought of him when you saw something? you got it just because you thought he’d like it? it’s personalised without the creators even realising because it’s a silly little inside joke between you two? oh he’s head over heels in love with you, so lucky to be able to call you his, literally swooning over you.

Far From Home
Elves, Boromir has learnt, pass through this world with no whisper of footsteps. In all the time he has been here, he’s not sure how long anymore, he has seen them slip in and out of the trees like shadows.
So when he hears the rustle of tree branches, as Legolas makes himself known some distance away, he knows it’s for his benefit.
He makes no move to beckon him over but nor does he push him away as the elf comes to settle down beside him. The silence that follows appears to cause him far more discomfort than his companion, though after a while he does speak.
“You seem uneasy.”
Boromir shifts in his seat.
“I mean no disrespect,” he mutters, “I just prefer the company of my own people.”
His eyes widen as he realised what he said.
“I did not mean… You are not… Well, I only meant…”
His stammering is cut off by a merry laugh and he sighs into his hands. Damn the elf and his strangeness. He could not understand how Aragorn could hold conversations with him long into the night. He had not a clue what to say. His eyes look like they have seen too much yet he looks as young as some of the newer recruits he had been training just before he had left.
He frowned. How many of them had died while he’d been away on this journey, too far to be of any help?
“I understand,” the elf’s voice steers him back to the waking dream of the present, “It is difficult find rest in an unfamiliar place.”
“It is not just that,” he begins, but says no more.
They had traveled together three months but Boromir still doesn’t know where to place the Prince of Mirkwood. He knows that he is kind, he has seen it. And he know that he is trustworthy and skilled. He’d be lucky to have him at his side in battle. Yet there are times he seems so distant, like he walked in a different world, near but never quite touching their own.
“While you rest here, your own people are fighting the darkness that would overtake your lands.” Legolas supplies, “And they are losing. You want to be at their side.”
“It is true what they say of elven magic,” he sits up a little, edging just slightly away, “You can read minds.”
Legolas laughs again but shakes his head. Boromir remains unconvinced.
“But I know anyway, for it is the same in my mind.” He frowns and looks out into the branches, “My realm was great once. But I too cannot remember a time where we were not fighting the dark. There are times of greater peace but still it lingers.”
Boromir nods slowly, “Always a shadow.”
Legolas sighs softly and in it Boromir can hear his own exhaustion. It brings sorrow and… something else heavy on his chest and he doesn’t trust himself to speak until Legolas does again.
“You will go back to your people?”
He nods again, “But you will not return to yours.”
Legolas chuckles, “My father would wish it I think but- “
“What - Oh forgive me,” Boromir cleared his throat, but Legolas smiles at him and after a moments hesitation he continues, “Your father, what is he like?”
Legolas leans back, soundless against the undergrowth. It’s like it bends around to accommodate him. His held tilts to the side as he considers.
“Proud,” he says after a very long moment, “Stubborn. And kind, as often as he is able.”
Boromir hums in acknowledgment. It is all the more difficult to be kind in these days. He tries to picture the Elvenking. His face in his mind is probably more like his own father’s than it ought to be but it settles his heart somewhat.
“I am scared for him most of all.” Legolas says suddenly, Boromir turns to see his face unusually pinched in worry, “And my brothers. That something should happen to them while I am away.”
Without really thinking he places a hand on the elf’s shoulder. He regrets it almost instantly. He has not seen the elves of this forest so familiar. Still it had seemed the natural thing. Perhaps he’s gotten more used to the elf than he realised. He seems more present than the others of this forest, who float about like memories of songs long forgotten. Whatever he thought, Legolas leans into the touch quite readily.
“But you will stay all the same,” he asks softly, like he was talking to one of his young soldiers and not an immortal warrior.
“I am more use here I think,” Legolas replies, “working to a final end.”
Boromir pursed his lips and looked away.
“Do…” his words come out unsteady but he’ll not back down twice, “Do you really think this quest will succeed?”
He turns back and knows immediately he’s made a mistake. Those starlit eyes are too old, too clever and far too far away to understand his fear.
“What other hope is there? We must succeed.”
Boromir wonders at what sort of a being could speak with such blind conviction. He doesn’t know whether he fears or envies it. Of course such a creature of light could not understand the strange and dangerous thoughts that plague his waking moments. It was foolish even to ask.
“What else but to cave to despair and the Enemies purpose?”
“Is that what you think of me?” Boromir snaps.
Legolas’ eyes widen as if surprised, “No I… forgive me I suppose I speak only of my own mind.”
Liar. He almost sighs aloud. No… Scheming creature trying to catch him in a lie. Enough.
Boromir shakes the voices from his head and gets up quickly. He cannot trust himself to speak to anyone when the whispers draw near, least of all a riddling elf.
“There is hope yet Boromir,” He hears the elf call after him and almost laughs.
“If there is I cannot see it.”
It takes an effort but he looks back. He had no idea what genuine earnestness looks like on an elf, but Legolas’ expression is as close as he can imagine. Part of him wants to go back to sitting in his strange, quiet company but it is if a gulf of shadow lies between them now. Even so his eyes soften.
“I have gone long without hope, Master Elf. And I have fought long and hard without it. You need not fear for me.”
Legolas’ lips part slightly, as though he were about to say more but instead he just nods and smiles faintly. Boromir gives a slight bow and takes his leave. He will sort out the mess of darkness that kept clouding his thoughts. Then, and only then he might be able to speak more easily with the Prince of Mirkwood.
#i love the parallels between these two characters#so much potential#boromir#legolas#lotr#lord of the rings#tolkien#my writing#lil fic#🥝

Might be a little late for besties prompts but I had a Bad Idea and figured I'd share it - remember your headcanon from your euclid aftermath fic, that Jack would need to be coached in, ahem, certain matters? What if Jack realised that himself and decided to ask his best bro for advice?
(i'm sobbing, this is so terribad, but here we go)
The knocking is an insistent, erratic rhythm until Hook opens the door to reveal Jack on the other side. "I need help," Jack proclaims, and pushes in without another word.
"What kind of help?" Hook asks, and then glances at the clock on the bedside table. "Jack, it's after midnight. Can't this be a text? Or wait until tomorrow?"
"This can't be a text." Jack holds his hands up, as though steadying himself. He sucks in a deep breath as his gaze skitters off to the side, and then goes back to Hook's face. "I think I might be a bad kisser."
Hook stares at him for long enough that Jack starts nervously fidgeting back and forth. "Goodbye, Jack."
"No, no, no! Hear me out, hear me out, please. Listen." Jack grabs Hook's arm with too-tight fingers. "Listen. I was in the middle of...progressing things, okay?"
"Jack, oh my god, no."
"And then she got all weird, and kind of squirrelly, and ended up leaving and wouldn't tell me why. It has to be me."
"Yeah, your personality and the fact that you came here at 12:30 to dump this on me. Bye."
"Hook!" Jack's grip tightens, and he's gonna leave bruises at this rate. "What if I'm a bad kisser? How do you ask this? I need help!"
Hook is gonna kill him. He's gonna redrum Jack into the cheap hotel carpet and never look back again. "I cannot believe we are having this conversation right now."
"Well, I need your help! You're the only one I can trust."
"How am I even supposed to tell you if you're wrong or right?" Hook demands. And then, when Jack sort of...purses his mouth funny, groans. "No. No. Jack. Absolutely not."
"Please. I have to know."
"Go find someone else!"
Hook tries to shake Jack off, and Jack throws his arms around Hook's entire torso, clasping his hands on the other side like a vice. "Hook! You're my best friend! I need you for this, there's no one else I can ask!"
"Oh my god." Hook shakes his arms to no avail. Jack is a spider monkey with a death lock on his wrists. "Okay, okay, Jesus Christ. Just...let go."
Reluctantly, Jack complies. Hook pushes him into the center of the room with both hands flat against Jack's shoulders. He sucks in the longest breath ever and counts. Then he sighs. "Okay."
"Okay?" Jack repeats.
"Just...ugh." Hook leans forward to kiss him. It's fast: a chaste press of their closed mouths together. When he pulls back, Jack's expression is deeply annoyed.
"How are you going to tell anything from that?" he asks. "That was like a 13-year-old kissing his crush on the playground."
"Come on," Hook whines. "God, this is the worst."
But, ugh, whatever. He's probably kissed people in the past that he regrets way more than this. He leans in again and fine, fine, this time he puts some effort into it. Jack's mouth is a lot more pliable than some of Hook's lip-locking partners have been, so it's not like it's horrible from the get-go or anything. And when Hook offers more pressure, coaxing Jack's lips apart, the man obliges without hesitation. It's not bad. Actually, it's pretty good—Jack sweeps his tongue in along Hook's lower lip but doesn't press the issue too hard, and gets a hold of Hook's head as though he's going to control the angle they work from, touch just strong enough to be a suggestion.
By the time they pull apart, Hook's breathing a little hard, a sure sign that the whole situation was working for him. He presses his tongue against the corner of his mouth, and says, "No, no, that was pretty good, actually. I don't think it was you."
"What?" Jack balks. "What else could it be?"
His phone dings from his pocket. Frowning, he pulls it out and types in his passcode, eyes flickering across the screen as he reads. Then his expression changes. "Oh."
"Oh what?" Hook asks.
"She, uh, ended up getting sick. Left because she didn't feel good." Jack has the decency to look guilty. "So, uh."
"Are you fucking serious? Jack. Now we're both probably going to get sick!"
"Ah. Well. Hm." Jack nods. "Okay. I might have overreacted a little bit here."
Hook stares at him. "You think?"
"If it makes you feel any better, you're a great kisser?" Jack offers.
"I hate you so much right now." Then Hook pauses, contemplative. "You said great?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'd say great, yeah."
Well, that's a win, Hook supposes. And that's pretty much all he has to cling to when the two of them both spend the next 48 hours with the stomach flu, stuck on their respective bathroom floors as they pray for the sweet release of death.

I love the universe you’ve created with Little F1 Adventures 💕
Any chance I could get some thoughts on Max being overstimulated and tired and desperately in need of a nap?
Not that he would admit that in a million years ofc.
Maybe he’s resisting dropping but they get there in the end because Daniel knows what his boy needs even when he doesn’t realise it himself.
aw tysm <3 i’m so glad you like my little world, as i do too.
and yes you can!!! voila:
Max heaves a sigh so loud Daniel is pretty sure it’s heard across the paddock. Monaco’s been hectic, and FP1 had not been what Max wanted it to be; finishing P6. Journalists had been prodding the entire Thursday about how this track should not suit the RedBull, right? An entire media day filled with people asking Max about his supposed future failure to dominate this weekend. How they’re all hoping he does. Daniel knows he tries to not let it get to him, says it doesn’t, and Daniel wishes it were true all the time.
GP’s crouched over Max, looking with him at some of the data. Max is growing more frustrated by the second, clearly not pleased with what he’s seeing. Daniel can see he’s biting the insides of his cheek, huffing out some exasperation at something GP says.
“I just think this needs to change, the setup here-”
“Max I have told you,” GP interrupts, “We’re not going to. We don’t think it’s gonna benefit us, it’s only FP1. We got the data to-”
“But it was shit!”
At least he’s honest, Daniel thinks to himself, trying to gauge if he should intervene. They’re still going back and forth, always a bit of ‘who’s the driver and who’s the engineer’ between them. They’re not getting anywhere though, Max is growing more agitated by the second and FP2 is in a couple hours. Perhaps Max would benefit from a nap.
“I don’t like it.” The whine in Max’s voice snaps Daniel from his thoughts and he can see GP’s stopped his reply too to study Max’s face; set into an undeniable pout. Time to intervene.
“How about we revisit this in a bit huh? Get some food in our system and look at it again in an hour or two.” It’s more so a statement, a demand Daniel makes as he gets up and puts his hand on Max’s shoulder, gives the younger a slight squeeze and gives GP a look he hopes coveys kindly piss off for a bit.
Luckily it does, because despite Max’s grumbles GP goes, leaves Daniel to gently kneed Max’s shoulders. He’s dropped his face into his arms, grumbling out sounds Daniel cannot make words out.
“Max,” Daniel hums gently. “Do you wanna take a nap?”
Daniel’s surprised by how quickly Max gets up, looks over his shoulder to glare at Daniel. “No.”
It’s not all too often Max refuses naps, especially if
“Together?” Daniel adds, before waving vaguely at the backpack by the door. “You’ve got Leo here.”
“No Leo.” Max grumbles back, betrayed by his own body for a second as he bites back a yawn. “No nap.”
Right, Daniel thinks. It’s clear Max is a bit overwhelmed, probably doesn’t do well with loads of questions or conversation right now. So Daniel’ll just do.
“Well Daddy’s just gonna cuddle Leo on the couch then.” He hums, it’s become so natural to switch from Daniel to Daddy in a split second, squeezing Max’s shoulders one last time before striding over to go collect the plush.
There’s a slight shift in Max’s posture already as Daniel moves past Max to fit himself onto the small couch, it’s not most comfortable, but it’ll do.
Max is staring him down from the other side of the room, eyes flicking from the little lion to Daniel with an ever growing frown.
Daniel grabs his phone to connect the music, starts a playlist he uses to unwind before looking back at Max who has traded the frown for a pout again.
“Daniel.” It comes out a little miserable and Daniel itches to hold.
“Yes, Bub?”
“Leo’s mine.”
“He is.” Daniel nods, because he is. Daniel would never take him from Max or claim he wasn’t. “Leo’s so tired, maybe you can come give him a cuddle.”
It gets Max up from his seat, makes his way over with quick little steps and he halts in front of the couch. Daniel holds the plush out and Max snatches it up, pressing it into his face with a shaky inhale.
Daniel pats his chest, catching Max’s eyes that are barely peaking out from behind the plush. Unfortunately Daniel’s plan does not work because Max shakes his head in a way that makes his hair flop around, it’d be cute if it weren’t for the exhaustion present in his eyes.
“Maxie.” Daniel whines. “Come’re.”
“No.” Max is shaking his head again, appears from behind Leo with another frown. “No nap. No couch.” The last statement is emphasized when Max folds down onto the floor instead, staring up at Daniel with a petulant pout. “No.”
Right. Different plan.
“No couch.” Daniel copies. “Can Daddy join you on the ground?” He asks.
To his surprise Max nods, so Daniel slides off the couch and onto the floor, wiggling until he’s near Max. “Can Daddy touch?”
Max blinks at him, slowly. He’s slipping more rapidly than he probably knows himself and nods again.
So Daniel does, fits himself next to Max and starts to gently trace a pattern up his arm, to his shoulders, kneads his fingers into them, cards his fingers through the hair there, growing blonder by the second cause of the sun he’s getting.
Max’s eyes start to flutter, the pout disappears when he brings his thumb up to his mouth while he leans into Daniel, mumbling something around the digit Daniel cannot understand.
“Shh.” Daniel soothes, brings Max close to his chest while he tries to find a semi-comfortable positions, sways them to the music that’s still playing, tracing a finger over Max’s eyebrows and the bridge of his nose.
He’s out within a minute, deep sigh leaving him as his thumb falls from his mouth and his face drops against Daniel’s chest, breathing evening out.
Daniel sighs gently, presses a kiss to Max’s nose and mentally notes he’ll need to book Max an extra fysio appointment for the way they’re sprawled out.
“Stubborn Bub.” He whispers.
“My stubborn Bub.”

demon brothers w/ an mc who lost people to a demon
thank you @ennspostssmh for the request! original ask here
summary: mc lost family or loved ones to a demon attack but doesn't hold a grudge
characters: lucifer, mammon, leviathan, satan, asmodeus, beelzebub, belphegor
format: headcanons
warnings: detailed mentions of death and grief, please don't read if you're easily affected by these! stay safe <3
LUCIFER
lucifer... wouldn't really know how to react
i think throughout your friendship or relationship he'd probably pick up that some things weren't quite right
whether that's if you seemed a bit too wary around the demons or whether you're still grieving over who you lost
either way, he wouldn't think too much of it at first
he probably figures it's something to do with the big change in coming to the devildom, maybe you miss home?
but it starts to go on a little bit too long to just be homesickness.
eventually he's the one that talks to you about it
when you open up he's shocked, to say the least
he knows demons aren't exactly angels (pun not intended) but he never considered one would stoop that low?
immediately regrets all the times he's threatened and scared you
offers to give you space to grieve, but will be there if you need a helping hand
MAMMON
poor boy is completely oblivious
literally doesn't pick up on any of the signs, thinks you're being shy or something
it takes some intervention from simeon for him to notice something's off
poor angel has to not-so-subtly hint at him to talk to you
thankfully, he takes the hint and so initiates the conversation in private
and when you tell him he does not know how to react.
imagines what it would be like if one of his family members... yk, and actually chokes up at the thought
cannot fathom what you're going through
and so, he scoops you up in a massive bear hug.
it's up to you whether you cry into his shoulder or not but if you do he'll cry on yours too
LEVIATHAN
levi is someone, as we all know, that isn't too great with people and/or emotions
this means that he probably won't gather that anything much is going on with you
so if you want him to know, you will have to sit him down and tell him yourself.
at first, he just kinda sits there and lets what you've said sink in
he also doesn't know what to do in a situation like this
so, he thinks about what he's want others to do if this happened to him.
as a result, he just gives you space.
too much space.
he will hide away in his room even more than usual, not even coming out for meals, because he is so afraid of reminding you of what happened to you.
eventually, if you want comfort from him, you'll have to talk to him and reassure him that you don't blame him, or any demon for that matter.
it's just a thing that happened, however tragic it may be, and it's in the past now.
SATAN
this man is the most perceptive of the lot.
he notices how nervous you look, and how you unknowingly shrink into yourself around demons.
like lucifer, at first he'll figure it's just nerves about being in the devildom
it's only survival instinct - here you are surrounded by people far stronger than you, it's natural to be afraid
but when you start to develop a bond with each other, he notices more little things
how you accidentally flinch when he touches you sometimes
how you often seem lost in thought, reminiscing sadly on days of the past
he figures it may be something to do with a toxic ex?
and so he talks to you first about it
when you tell him about what's bothering you, all the puzzle pieces click into place
he starts feeling rage towards the demon that committed this atrocity
then quickly realises there's no point
he asks you how he can make it easier for you, whether you need space or support
however you want to deal with this, he will be there for you
ASMODEUS
at first, he wouldn't really notice if you were behaving strangely
not that he doesn't care! he does, but this man is so easily distracted
as your relationship develops, asmo does start to notice some little things
he's kinda used to it though - quite often people get a little overwhelmed by how there he is so he tries to tone it down a bit around you
spoiler alert: it doesn't work
he's another one that you will have to talk to if you want him to understand how you feel.
when you do, he absolutely pounces on you
grabs your face, looks you in the eyes and promises he will never do anything to hurt you
definitely will not let you go for at least the next day
this man adores you sm!
BEELZEBUB
beel is quite perceptive when it comes to emotions, even if he doesn't realise it
in the way that, if someone isn't feeling great, he kind of has an instinct to help them without really knowing why
he associates his negative feelings with hunger, and so you'll find him bringing you comfort foods on days where you're grieving more than usual
when or if you eventually tell him about it, he won't say much, but he will scoop you up in a massive bear hug
he understands completely your feelings of grief, having gone through something very similar with lilith
he'll stay with you as long as you need after that conversation, only leaving to get you more of your favourite snack or treat
BELPHEGOR
this boy is so emotionally stunted
he has been locked in an attic for months with next to no social contact, and when he is around people he's far too sleepy to pick up on emotional cues
so he wouldn't notice anything.
if you do decide to tell him about the people you lost, you will have to make sure he is awake and alert
which generally isnt an easy feat
he instantly feels so guilty.
you've lost people to demons already, and he had to go and try to kill you.
he can only imagine how scared you felt
and to make it worse, he fully understands the pain of losing someone you love
respects how you dont hold a grudge towards demons, something that he wasn't able to do when lilith died.
so yeah, i hope you enjoyed this, and didn't cry as much as i did while writing it! im so sorry this took ages to write, i lost someone close to me a couple months ago so this hit a little close to home. likes and reblogs are always appreciated, and i hope you all have a great day! :)

The saviour.
Part 2.
Your car is parked outside the shop front so you’re definitely in there somewhere, and the others are late so Eddie is hanging around trying not to look like a complete weirdo.
“Hey, that guy’s been there for a while… think he’s up to no good?” Steve asks, nudging his elbow against your side lightly and nodding towards the window.
You look out to where the long haired male stands and scoff, “nah, he’s harmless. Probably waiting for Dustin.”
“Dustin?” he frowns before realising who this must be, “oh! Eddie! That’s Eddie!”
“The one and only dungeon master.”
“I’m inviting the dungeon master in.”
Steve rushes outside and introduces himself before chatting briefly and gesturing towards the door as you start to return VHS tapes to their shelves, then the conversation becomes louder as the two of them enter the shop one after the other.
“…and this is (Y/N),” Steve grins, sweeping his arm towards you.
“The infamous (Y/N),” Eddie nods with a smile, “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“If it’s from the boys then that can only be a bad thing,” you grimace before returning his smile, “nice to meet you Eddie.”
“You too, and it’s all good that I’ve heard actually. Never has a bad word been said against you.”
“That’s nice to know… sorry about the hard stare yesterday, it’s an automatic response.”
He chuckles, his fingers fiddling with his hair nervously it seemed, “that’s fine, I completely understand. Need some help with the tapes?”
“Sure, thanks.”
“Oh my god sorry we’re late,” Dustin exhales as him, Mike, Lucas, and Max burst through the door, “these two couldn’t make their minds up whether to come or not,” he explains with an eye roll as he points to Lucas and Max.
The four of them start conversing with Steve as you and Eddie continue putting the videos back in their right places, and while you’re both listening in on what they’re saying you both go for the box at the same time without realising the other is leaning in as well until your heads meet in the middle with a bump.
“Ow!” you both exclaim, immediately lifting your hands to your heads and rubbing the areas where you’d just connected.
Everyone turns to look at the source of the noise to find the two of you looking at one another laughing as you hold your heads, “are you okay?” Eddie asks.
“I think so, how about you?”
“No lasting damage hopefully,” he grins, using his free hand to cross his fingers.
You take a chance to look at the rings on his fingers, each big chunky silver shape representing a different meaning, then your eyes travel along his hand and up his arm until you meet his shy gaze and light rosey cheeks. His smile was so warm and inviting, his face soft and friendly, and suddenly you feel your own face heating up under his gaze until you spot Max watching you in your peripheral vision.
“Right, you four can finish up putting this box of tapes back,” you smirk, “I need some air.”
You walk past Eddie who cannot take his eyes off of you as you make your way through the store and eventually out of sight, and Max watches him carefully before following you out through the store room and to the back door.
“Hey kid,” you grin, “you okay?”
She smiles and leans back against the wall you’re sitting down at, “yeah… I’ve got a question for you.”
“Shoot,” you nod as she slides down next to you.
“What was that about with Eddie?”
“What was what about? We smacked heads,” you chuckle, your hand going to the spot where you hit again.
“Really?” she questions with a sly smile.
A loud laugh escapes you, “what do you mean, really?!”
“You didn’t see what we all saw when you were staring into one another’s eyes…”
“There was nothing to see,” you say with a dismissive shake of the head.
“You do realise he thinks you’re pretty, right?”
“Well then he must need his eyes testing.”
“(Y/N),” Max frowns, “come on. What if there could be someone else?”
Your brow furrows as you take in what she’s asking you then slowly turn your head to face her with a questioning look, “you mean someone other than Billy?”
“Yeah,” she nods with a solemn expression, “Billy wouldn’t want you to be without someone who loves you like he did, I know that. It doesn’t mean you’d have to ever stop loving him.”
You open your mouth to say something then close it again after words fail to materialise.
“I want to see you happy again,” she adds, “just please don’t shut people out because you think it’s the right thing to do. I saw the way you looked at him, and he’s already told the boys he likes you, so give him a chance.”
“You,” you begin, pointing directly at her, “are wise beyond your years. Billy would be so proud of you.”
“Come on,” she sighs as she rises from the ground and extends her hand to you, “we’re going back inside to see Eddie.”
“Fine,” you relent as you place your hand in hers and jump up, “and just know that what you said is right, I will never stop loving your brother, and I will always be here for you Max.”
“I know,” she smiles, squeezing your hand, “and I will always be here for you too.”
You slip your hand from hers and place your arm around her shoulders so you can squish her against your side as you both walk back into the video store to find Lucas slam dunking a beat up sale VHS into the bargain bin.
“Watch the merchandise, man!” Steve tuts, picking it back up again and inspecting the case before looking over to you and Max, “thank god, can you think of anything to occupy this lot that doesn’t involve damaging the goods?”
“Who fancies putting the bins out?!” you ask excitedly as you clap your hands together.
You’re met with very underwhelmed expressions across the board until Eddie speaks up, “I’ll do it. Some say I could have been the best bin man in Hawkins if I hadn’t gone back to school.”
“Perfect, let’s go,” you nod, leading him towards the front door.
He quickly overtakes to open the door for you then drops back behind as you show him to the side of the store where there were four bin bags propped up against the wall just waiting to be slung into the metal dumpster behind the shop.
“Show me how it’s done then, best bin man in Hawkins,” you challenge, gesturing to the sacks.
He smirks at you before rolling his sleeves up and grabbing two in each hand, then he boldly turns to face you as he begins to walk backwards down the alley, “I’ve still got it!” he boasts, making you laugh, “I’ve even done six at a time before… it’s easy really, as long as you- woah!”
Next thing you know he’s on his back on the ground with the bags now split open either side of him, and the two of you burst into fits of giggles as he manages to untangle his hands from the bags and sit himself up.
“Oh shit! Are you okay?!” you ask through laughter as you move towards him.
He shakes his head from side to side with a scoff, “that’ll teach me for showing off in front of a beautiful lady. The ego is slightly bruised, but I’m fine.”
You blush at his words then stand directly in front of him and hold your hands out for him to take. He slides his hands across your palms to wrap his fingers around your wrists as you do the same to him, then you give a strong pull that brings him to his feet gently, mere inches away from your body. Neither of you let go of one another and you realise he has a slight flushed shade of red on his cheeks as you stand so close; he was certainly very handsome and if you could describe your type of man it he would definitely fall into that category, but as your eyes move up from his neck to his hair you suddenly see a flash of Billy’s face which causes you to jump away and let go of him.
“Are you alright?” he asks, startled at your sudden movement.
“I’m fine,” you mumble with a dismissive wave of your hand, “I’m fine, I need to… sorry.”
You race back around to the front of the store and quickly jump in your car as the others watch with confusion from inside. Max is first to come out seconds after you’ve screeched away, and Eddie appears from the alley with a bewildered look upon his face, “what did you do?!” she asks accusingly.

A Little Bit of Sunshine
↳ Hector x Reader
↳ Word Count: 3.09k
↳ Requested by @shadechu
A/N: I have never written for Castlevania before but I really enjoyed writing this, it flowed so easily. Hector is probably OOC but who cares lol.
Anyway, enjoy :D
Hector had moved to a small town after everything had gone down with Lenore. After she died he realised how much damage she caused him, the lasting marks of her abuse and manipulation still scarred his body and mind and he could no longer stay in a place where they had lived and she had died.
The fact that he managed to escape the bond she had on him and that he was able to deceive her was only able to sustain him for a short while before everything fell apart and Hector was no longer able to act as if everything was okay, so he left and started anew.
The new town was on the smaller side but not small to the point where he would stand out. He easily blended into bustling crowds in the town centre and the residents treated him like any other local. For the first time in a long time, he felt normal, as working for Dracula was an experience that words couldn't explain.
He had his own little cabin in the woods where he could be at peace and the distance to the town centre was far but long enough for him to enjoy the sights as he walked past. All in all, he liked this new path of his life, it was almost completely different than it used to be and he expected to miss it but he enjoyed the calmness and serenity of this new path of his life.
On his usual weekly trip to town, someone called out to him, trying to catch his attention. it was a young woman, probably the same age as him and she was calling for his attention, waving him over to her stall.
"Sir! Sir!"
Hector looked up in surprise and as soon as the woman realised she had his attention a bright smile overtook over her face before she eagerly began to wave him over, swinging her arms back and forth over her head, gathering the attention of the other people around them.
Hector quickly shuffled over to them not wanting her to cause an even bigger scene and pull more attention their way.
"You're new aren't you?" Was the first thing out of her mouth.
Hector flinched in shock at her words, not expecting them. No one else knew he was new and that put him on edge.
"Oh don't look so surprised, I just know everyone that comes here."
Hector raises a brow at her words, " ... That's weird. You do realise that right?"
The woman shrugs, "Maybe but it makes for good business. People are more likely to buy something if I remember them from just previously meeting."
Hector realises that he's standing in front of a stall filled with baked goods, "You're a baker?"
"Family business," She clarifies, “I mostly do the selling due to my - "
"Charm?" Hector cuts in with a sarcastic tone.
"Actually, I was going to say my good looks but yes charm too." The woman grins.
Hector couldn't help but bark out a laugh, the woman never missed a beat.
"I'm (Y/N) in case you wanted to know" (Y/N) informed him with a wink.
Hector had to twist his lips so that the smile that so desperately wanted to escape, couldn't.
"Hector" He introduced himself.
"Well Hector, what can I get you? " (Y/N) asked, gesturing to the spread of baked goods in front of her.
Oh, she was smart. Catching his attention, making him come over to his stall and
converse with her in front of everyone and now he could surely not been seen walking away with nothing after taking up her time. While he didn't really care about the local’s opinions about him, he didn't want to be outcasted more than he already was.
"I'll have a loaf and a sweet pie please"
(Y/N) shoots him a bright smile and packs up his items, then collects his money.
"Thank you, Hector. I hope to see you again soon"
"I'll see you again" Hector responded
As he began to walk back home, Hector thought back on how easily (Y/N) made him feel at ease, how he brought a smile to his face and drew laughter from and he got scared.
This is how Lenore got her claws in him, she manipulated and lied to him before tricking him into servitude and he never wanted something like that to ever happen again.
He decided for the health of his mind, he would keep his distance from (Y/N). He couldn't find it in himself to completely ghost her and ignore her so he'll keep cordial. He'll be friendly but he couldn't let himself become close to her.
.•° ✿ °•.
His plan worked well, every time he went up to town he stopped by her stall and bought what ended up being his usual order of a loaf and a sweet pie, engaged in small talk with (Y/N) before leaving and it worked well for weeks until he had a dream about Lenore one night.
A mere dream had knocked him off-kilter. He had awoken a mess and fell out of his bed in his confused and frantic attempt to escape his blankets. He only managed to crawl a few paces before collapsing on the cold floor, his remaining energy only enough to let him roll onto his back. Hector blinked lazily up at the ceiling as everything he had locked away came rushing back. He relived the moment when he fell for her, the moment he realised that she had tricked him, the moment when she realised he betrayed her and then when she had died by her own will.
Everything that had occurred over the last few years played in front of his eyes and he hated every part of it. He could never forgive himself for being so naive and trusting yet he missed those traits of his.
When he 'awoke' again, the sun was moving low, signifying sunset wasn't far away. He pulled himself up and washed his face at the basin before he left his cabin, his feet taking him into town. The town centre was still busy despite the late hour and so was she, the woman who he came to see.
Despite the other stall owners who had either left or were in the process of doing so, her stall was still set up with what remaining items she had left. She was sitting on a stall with a book on her lap in a different world and Hector felt bad about disturbing her but he needed her.
He didn't even have to call her name, as soon as he was a few feet away, she looked up at him with a smile and closed her book shut, though when she got a proper look at him, her smile faltered.
"Hector?" She made her way over to him, brow furrowed in concern, "Is everything okay?"
He must look like a mess. He certainly felt it on the inside and he had been in a trance since he woke up, not paying any attention to his looks.
"I... um, I -" Hector stumbled over his words, his tongue suddenly heavy.
"Why don't you take a seat" (Y/N) guided Hector to her stall and offered him some water from the pouch at her side.
Seeing that he was in no position to talk about what happened, (Y/N) changed the topic slightly, "I thought you were not coming today. I got so used to seeing you, it would be a shame if I did not see you."
"But do not fret, I set aside your usual order for you," She said as she showed him a little wrapped up basket.
Hector nodded, the change in conversation took the pressure off his shoulders and he felt more at ease to speak.
"What do you do with the ones you do not sell? "He asked
"Today these are going to the homeless. I usually alternate between them, the orphanage and poor families"
"That is kind of you. Nobody did anything like that when I was young"
"I think the world is horrible enough with the wars and death and it costs nothing to do a little good within your own community" (Y/N) then looked up at the sky and noticed the changing colours, “Do you want to come with me as I give these out?”
Desperate for more of a distraction, Hector agrees and he helps her clear up her stan before they set off to a different part of town, him carrying the basket of baked goods for the homeless.
“Do you have any family, Hector?” (Y/N) asked.
Hector shook his head, his grey hair swishing around his chin as he did so, Just me”
“Hm, well if you want any annoying younger siblings, I’ll eagerly give you all of mine”
“Surely they’re not that bad-”
(Y/N) lets out a laugh, “One day I’ll take you to meet them. You’ll regret your words!”
As they walked around, handing the food to the less fortunate, Hector noticed the strange way (Y/N) behaved. Her head constantly twitched one way to the other, as if someone was calling for her attention but she stopped herself before fully turning around to see and her eyes were flickering about like seeing things that weren’t there.
“(Y/N)? Is everything okay?” Hector asked
(Y/N) froze when he spoke, looking at him with wide eyes, she twisted her head around to make sure no one was nearby before she grabbed his hand and pulled him into a hidden alcove.
There was fear in her eyes as she gripped his hands tightly, “I am telling you this because I trust you but you cannot tell anyone or they will kill me.”
“(Y/N)...?”
(Y/N) casts one more precautionary look around her before speaking, “I can speak to animals”
Hector blinked in surprise, that was the last thing he expected.
“You...speak to animals?”
“Speak, understand, you know the whole thing”
“...The whole thing?” Hector repeated after her.
(Y/N)’s shoulder slumped in disappointment at his words, “You do not believe me. Of course, you don’t, I sound like a crazy woman.”
“No, no!” Hector was quick to reassure her, “I don’t think you’re crazy, of course not.”
(Y/N) gripped Hector’s hands tighter in relief and he suddenly realised that they had not stopped holding hands since she had dragged him. Her hands were soft but strong and steady and they fit perfectly in his, he never wanted to let go.
“I could do since I was a child and I told my parents but they thought I was a child with a large imagination so they ignored me,” (Y/N) began to elaborate on her talent, “And when I was ten there was a witch-burning in our old town, an older woman was accused of conjuring spirits and setting against the people of the village but in reality, she was just a sick old woman who needed help. After that, I knew I couldn’t let anyone know about you know what”
“Why did you tell me?” Hector asked.
“...I don’t know. There’s something about you, so understanding, empathetic, trustworthy. I know I can trust you.”
(Y/N) had revealed her deepest secret to him, made herself vulnerable yet he could not do the same to her, though the ability to communicate with animals was much different than being a forgemaster.
“You can trust me, I promise I will not tell anyone.”
(Y/N)’s shoulders relaxed and she gave him a brief smile, “Your belief in me means more than you know.”
“Now,” Hector lifted the basket up, “Should we finish what we started?”
It had progressively gotten darker, the sun only moments away from going down completely.
“Of course! We must finish before it gets too dark.” (Y/N) stepped out of the alcove and hurried down the street, dragging Hector behind her, still holding on to his hand.
-
It was dark by the time they began to walk home, Hector insisting on walking her home so that she wasn’t alone at night. She stopped in front of a little cabin, not unlike his, it also wasn’t that far away from his.
“You don’t live with your family?” Hector asked.
(Y/N) shook her head, “It is better for me this way. I love my family, truly but the chance of them finding out about me is something I can’t risk. I cannot truly say that they wouldn’t expose me… there are some things that are beyond even family ties.”
“Anyway,” (Y/N) spoke with a sigh, “It is late, I need to sleep. Thank you for today, Hector. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” Hector waited until (Y/N) had reached her door and spoke again, “Can we...meet again soon?”
(Y/N) gave him a toothy smile, “Of course. In two days by the lake? I can bring a picnic for lunch.”
Hector nodded, “I’ll see you then.”
He waited until her door closed before he made his way home, his heart feeling happy. He had forgotten how he felt earlier that day and (Y/N) had completely turned his day around. He did feel guilt though, he went to for help, a distraction which she provided and then she revealed a deep secret of hers yet he couldn’t even tell her about his nor his past with Lenore or history with Dracula and being a forgemaster. The things he carried were heavy yet (Y/N) had already been so understanding and kink that he didn’t fear telling them to her, he knew she would understand.
In two days at the picnic, he would tell her.
.•° ✿ °•.
(Y/N) was already by the lake by the time he arrived, speaking out loud to someone he couldn’t see but when he heard the responding barks and yelps, he realised that she was talking to a dog. He hurried his pace to catch up to her, excited to see her communicate to animals in person.
“Is that a dog you’re speaking to?” He shouted as he jogged over to her.
(Y/N) spun around with a smile, “Yes! I’ll introduce you to him!”
She crouched down and took the dog into her arms before turning towards him after he finally reached her,
“Hector this is- Cezar”
“-Cezar”
Hector and (Y/N) spoke at the same time. Hector stared at the dog he had not seen since Carmilla had dragged him away after Dracula died and (Y/N) stared at Hector, surprised he knew the little mongrel dog.
Cezar eagerly barked at Hector, his tiny body wriggling in excitement as he tried to escape (Y/N)’s hold, so she let him down and watched as he raced over to Hector barking like mad and when Hector kneeled down, the door jumped into his arms and wiggled some more.
“...So I guess you know each other then?” (Y/N) asked.
“Cezar is my dog,” Hector explained, giving the small dog rubs and pats, “I got separated from him a while ago but how did you meet him?”
“We stumbled across each other last year and then we became close companions...but I’ve always been curious about something about him.”
“Is it that he looks like he should be dead?”
(Y/N) laughed, “Yes, Hector. Don’t get me wrong, I love the little dog but he looks a bit beyond his years.”
Hector put Cezar down and together they began walking towards the lake so they could set up their picnic.
He took a deep breath before he began to explain what he could do, “I’m a forgemaster.”
“Forgemaster? What’s that?”
Of course, she wouldn’t know what that was, her world was not the same as his.
“I can bring back animals and humans from the dead and call demons from hell.”
“Wow...that’s uh...wow”
“I’m sorry for dumping this on you, I know it’s quite heavy stuff.”
“I did not know that was possible”
“Many don’t. It’s beyond comprehension.”
“If I wasn’t looking at proof right now” (Y/N) pointed towards Cezar who was trotting ahead of them, “I wouldn’t believe it either.”
“Is that what caused you such distress the other day?” (Y/N) asked as they found a place to sit down.
“No, no, that was about Lenore.”
(Y/N) kept quiet allowing Hector to speak at his own pace.
“I was taken captive, stuck in a cell and Lenore gained my trust, pretending that she was someone that I could trust only to betray me and me her slave to her and her sisters. I was under their or more specifically her control for over a year until I managed to trick her and end the ‘bond’.”
“Where’s she now?”
“Dead. She was a vampire and decided it was her time to go.”
“Did you love her?” (Y/N) asked
“No, I don’t think I did. After I realised what she had done to me any feelings that I may have had disappeared, they were not formed authentically. I still feel incredibly stupid about the whole thing, I was foolish to believe someone who was involved in sisterhood with the person who captured me would genuinely care for me.”
“You were not foolish, you were human Hector '' (Y/N) comforted him, “You were vulnerable and she took advantage of that, you should not feel ashamed. You are strong that’s why you’re here with me right now and Lenore is no longer alive. You will never be proud of yourself if you keep on diminishing what you’ve achieved so far. You’ll never be happy and I want you to be happy”
Hector takes her hand in his, “I want to be happy.”
(Y/N) smiles at him, “You will be, I know you will.”
“I want to be happy with you”
“Oh-” (Y/N) smile changes into a softer one that tickles Hector’s heart, “I want to be happy with you too.”
“Imagine it,” Hector falls onto his back and tugs (Y/N) down with him, “You, me, Cezar in a cabin in the woods and all the animals you wish to speak to”
(Y/N) laughs, “You wouldn’t believe how chatting animals are, I’m fine with just being me you and Cezar for the moment.”
Cezar jumps up on Hector’s chest with a bark before settling down with a huff.
“Sounds like he agrees”

The days you spent in WestView had been tiring. Wanda seemed to be losing her composure with each day that passed, you watched how she became more and more skeptical of Peter and found yourself growing all the more anxious with the situation you’d run head first into. But, you were with Peter, your mind and his mind were free of Wanda’s influence and she’d been kind enough to appoint the pair of you your own house in the neighbourhood, a few doors down from her own, so, you couldn’t complain too much.
Today was a relatively quiet day, but you had a feeling that just meant you were in the calm before the storm. Tonight was, apparently, Halloween. Despite the fact that it was nowhere near October, you were more than happy to play along with Wanda’s over the top festivities.
Peter and Tommy had just zoomed into your and Peter’s bedroom, sporting matching outfits and excited expressions as they looked at you expectantly, “Well? What’d ya think?” Peter asked, motioning between himself and Tommy. The littlest speedster awaited your answer with wide, hopeful eyes, wanting validation from his cool uncle’s even cooler ‘friend’.
Yeah, you’d made out on Wanda’s couch but you still hadn’t addressed the question of where exactly your relationship stood. It felt as though the pair of you were both actively avoiding the awkward conversation, opting instead to simply fall into bed together every single night and completely disregard the boundaries of friendship in favour of hearing each other moaning until the early hours of the morning.
With a smile you let out a low whistle, “Looking good boys. I gotta say, Tommy, I think you’re outshining your uncle right now.”
You had to laugh when Tommy smirked triumphantly at Peter, “I told you she liked me more than you.” He boasted proudly and your laughs grew louder when Peter huffed angrily. He crossed his arms over his chest and jutted his bottom lip out childishly.
“Y/n, tell him you like me more.” Peter demanded, again, childishly.
You only grinned, “No comment.” You told him airily, making your way to your closet and hesitantly pulling out the latex costume Wanda created for you off of the rail, holding it by the hanger skeptically.
It was Peter’s turn to let out a whistle when his eyes scanned the skimpy looking leotard suspended by the hanger. The fabric mimicked the design of Peter and Tommy’s outfits although it seemed Wanda had gone out of her way to make yours ever so slightly sexier. The leotard was strapless with a sweetheart neckline and a silver lightning bolt ran through the light blue material. The only saving grace was the silver tights that hung from the hanger as well, at least you’d have some kind coverage. With one last peek into the closet, your eyes landed on a pair of white, knee high gogo boots.
“Christ…” You muttered, eyebrows furrowing at the thought of wearing the ensemble out in public, if it was cold tonight Wanda would be in for an aggressive telling off. With a deep sigh you turned to the two speedsters who were both staring at you, waiting for you to say something. “I guess we’re all gonna be matching tonight.”
“Sweet!” Tommy exclaimed while Peter only smirked. Peter, with a lot of effort, moved his attention from your costume to his nephew.
“Why don’t you go hang out with your brother for a while? I gotta talk to Y/n for a sec.” Tommy welcomed the suggestion, only nodding his head before he had sped out of your house and back to his own.
A gust of wind hit your face as Peter sped himself in front of you, the man didn’t hide his intentions as he gripped your hips and pulled you flush against him. Swaying his body against yours and bringing his lips to the exposed skin of your neck. He trailed his lips up your neck, sucking and nipping, smirking when you let out small noises of approval. When his lips reached the spot behind your ear, he gave a final, harsh suck which had your breath hitching and whining when he pulled away.
To be honest, you’d love to be able to call him your boyfriend and be certain that he thought of you as his girlfriend, but at the moment you were perfectly happy with whatever the fuck the two of you had going on if it meant you could keep feeling him against you like this.
“I cannot wait to see you wearing that.” He all but groaned against your ear, his voice deep and gravelly. The butterflies in your stomach went feral at his words and you had to pull your bottom lip between your teeth to keep from letting out a moan from his tone of voice alone, not to mention the fact that his crotch was pressed up against yours, he was excited to say the least.
Your hands slid up his chest and settled on either side of Peter’s neck, you gently pulled his head out from the crook of your nape and teasingly raised an eyebrow at him, “Maybe later I’ll let you help me get out of it.”
A wicked grin spread across his lips, he squeezed your hips in response, tugging you into him even further for some kind of relief then pressed his lips to yours briefly, murmuring against them, “That’s definitely a plan I can get behind.”
Giving him one last kiss, you pried his hands from your hips and pushed him away, “Alright, get lost I need to get ready.”
“Meet me at Wanda’s?” You nodded at his question, letting out a deep sigh you hadn’t noticed you’d been holding when he finally sped out of the room.
After a second of cooling down, you pulled on the outfit and you’d be the first to admit; Wanda knew what she was doing with this one. You looked incredible, albeit a little stupid in the costume, but still incredible.
When you made your way over to Wanda’s to meet up with the others, you let out a laugh seeing as Wanda was essentially wearing the same outfit as you, only with the added extras of a cape and gloves.
“Hey! Why are you dressed the same as Uncle P and Tommy?” Billy asked you curiously, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he glanced between you and Peter for answers. The speedster in question was smirking proudly, his arm finding a spot wrapped around your shoulder.
“Because she’s totally obsessed with me.” He lied with an over dramatic sigh, causing Tommy to laugh.
You rolled your eyes, elbowing him in the ribs playfully before focusing your attention onto Wanda, “I think it’s safe to say that Wanda and I will be winning best couples costume.” Wanda gave you a knowing grin and a not at all subtle wink in response to your statement.
“Only the best for the best.” She replied, walking forward and linking her arm with yours, stealing you away from Peter who whined in protest, “Oh hush, you can have her back later.”
Telepathy definitely had its perks, one of those perks being you could tell there was more to Wanda than just being an evil puppeteer. The two of you got along extremely well, you were actually growing to see her as a friend. It helped that you knew her story, though. You sympathised with her, knowing full well that if you lost the love of your life you’d probably create a false reality to be with him too. You’d already followed him into a fake reality so you supposed it wasn’t really too much of a stretch to imagine yourself in Wanda’s position.
As the night went on, yourself, Wanda and Peter were sitting around in town square, the twins having run off somewhere. Tensions were high between the interreality siblings at the minute, Peter seemed to be having the time of his life getting on Wanda’s last nerve, poking and prodding at her lifestyle choices.
“Lay off, Pete.” You warned quietly, your stare serious as you felt Wanda becoming impatient with the mutant. Your breathing stopped for a moment and you let put a horrified gasp, your hand clapped over your mouth as you stared at the image in front of you.
Peter’s skin was grey, his eyes were milky and he was littered in what you could only assume to be bullet holes- he was dead- no, you realised as you caught Wanda’s pained expression, he was Pietro.
Wanda regained her composure after a few seconds but the sight of Peter dead was enough to shake you to your very core and you found yourself shaking where you stood.
You didn’t even have a chance to regain your composure before shit had hit the fan. It had happened in a blur, Billy and Tommy were frantic and worried about Vision being in trouble and next thing you knew Wanda was sending Peter flying with a ball of energy after he made a smartass comment about Vision not dying twice.
Quickly, you ran to Peter’s side, he was groaning in pain and looking up at you through squinted eyes, “What the hell was that all about?” He grumbled, hiding his head in your lap when you got down on your knees beside him.
With a sigh you let your body fold against his, wrapping your arms around him and letting your head rest against his shoulder, the image of him bleeding out still too fresh and real in your mind. You could berate him for his brash behaviour another time, for now though; you just needed him close.
“Come on, dumbass. Let’s get you home before you decide to cause more trouble.” You mumbled, pulling him up with you. Ignoring his whining while you led him home, your arm remained firmly around his waist the whole way despite the fact he’d recovered from the blast Wanda dealt him after only a few minutes.
When you got back to the house that Wanda had deemed yours upon your arrival, you finally allowed yourself to breathe. Peter was staring at you with a guilty expression as you released a heavy breath through your nose and shuffled into the kitchen, the heels of your boots scraping on the hardwood as you walked.
Like a lost puppy, Peter followed you. Once he reached you lent against the sink he wrapped his arms around you from behind. He knew you weren’t angry at him by the way your arms immediately moved to grip his and tug them tighter around you.
“You know, her real twin- Pietro… he died,” Peter’s face contorted in confusion when you began to speak, he listened with concern as he could already hear your voice beginning to shake, absentmindedly he caught himself tucking you closer against his chest. “For a second… you must have said something that hit a nerve but for a few seconds…” Your voice hitched and you shook your head in an attempt to knock the image out of your mind, though you had a feeling it would haunt you for as long as you lived. When Peter noticed you’d started chewing at your bottom lip, as you always did when something was causing you anxiety, he gently turned you around in his arms so that he could look at you, his arms remaining firmly around you, yours finding a place resting against his chest.
“What happened, sweetheart?” He cooed, his eyes very much alive and staring into yours.
Swallowing thickly you answered, “You looked like him. You were dead.” You told him quietly and he was sure the look of grief on your face, brought on by the thought of him dying, would haunt him for a lifetime.
Your eyes watered as you took in his face. Scanning every part of it, his brown eyes that made you melt, the dimples that could still be faintly seen even when he wasn’t smiling, the lips that took up the vast majority of your thoughts and that tiny furrow between his brows as he looked down at you with worry.
You loved him.
Of course, you’d known this for years. But you needed him to know, and even though you were already well aware the overwhelming feeling is mutual, you needed to hear him say it.
His thumb running under your eye pulled you from your thoughts, “I’m not going anywhere, baby.” He whispered softly, his hand cupping your cheek as his thumb ran back and forth over your cheek bone. Your stomach flipped at the pet name and you nuzzled against his touch.
“Good. I don’t want to lose you ever again.” You confessed, looking up at him through your lashes fondly as his lips formed an almost sad smile.
Gently, he brought his lips down to meet yours, pouring his heart into the kiss, hoping it would make up for the turmoil he felt responsible for causing you. Too soon, he pulled away.
“Believe me, I’m never leaving your side. I mean come on, I’m without you for like three days and I end up being mind controlled by my sister who isn’t even my sister.” He chuckled out, a grin growing on his face as you began to smile too. He let his eyes close blissfully when you brushed your nose against his, a toothy smile on your face.
“You, Peter Maximoff, are completely hopeless.” You whispered through your smile as he opened his eyes to look at you. His own face sporting an adoring smile.
Your heart skipped a beat the second his next words passed through his smiling lips, “Without you, Y/n L/n, yes I am.” Within a second your arms were around his shoulders and your lips were moving frantically against his. Peter’s hands wasted no time in sliding down to your thighs, gripping them and propping you up onto the kitchen counter.
Your legs automatically wrapped around his waist and your hands got lost in his hair, keeping him as close as humanly possible while his lips migrated to your jaw.
An appreciative hum left your throat as he lapped at the underside of your jaw, leaving a mark before trailing his lips back to your mouth. His tongue licked at your bottom lip as he kissed you, moving it into your mouth the first chance he got. Peter moaned into your mouth when you gave his tongue a light suck.
You grinned at the sound and leaned your weight forward so you were primarily resting against his body, your arms and legs wrapped tightly around his body, your ass barely resting on the counter by that point. Welcoming your movements, Peter’s hands glided up from your thighs to grip your ass and pull you from the counter completely.
He carried you clumsily through the halls of the house, bumping into furniture and pausing to press your body against walls, his eyes closed and lips never separating from yours. You were about a foot away from the stairs when you felt your back make contact with the plaster behind you, your chest heaving when Peter abandoned your lips in favour of littering wet kisses across your chest, no doubt leaving a trail of hickeys in his wake.
You let your head fall back against the wall, enjoying the sensation of Peter nipping and licking at your skin, the man diving back to your neck as soon as he realised that your head thrown back made it entirely exposed to him. You released a breathy moan when his lips ghosted over a sensitive patch of skin, he moved his tongue frantically and you shuddered at the feeling of his hot breath hitting your bruised skin.
“Peter…” You whined when he pushed his crotch up against yours, pressing you further into the wall smirking against your neck when you called his name.
“Yes?” He asked teasingly, rutting his hips against yours once more, deliberately attempting to pull another moan from you, he obviously succeeded. His smirk broadened when you let out a huff and tugged his hair so he’d look at you.
Peter swore he was in heaven when his eyes met yours again, your face was red and your eyes were half-lidded, pupils blown wide with lust as your chest heaved. He could’ve exploded on the spot when you tugged your bottom lip between your teeth and looked at him innocently, all the while grinding your hips slowly and firmly against his. Peter clenched his jaw and let his eyes fall shut, his hands gripping your hips so tightly that you were pretty certain the area would have bruises come tomorrow. You were struggling to care about that though, focusing your energy on the man who had you pinned against the wall.
You brought your lips to Peter’s neck, repaying the favour, not detaching until you left a dark, albeit small, purple bruise on the underside of his jaw. Deciding to prolong the teasing for a little while longer you moved your lips up and let them hover by his ear and you began to let out soft little moans in response to his grinding, the action caused Peter’s movements to become more frantic and your lips to form in a smirk as you felt him hardening against you.
His breath was laboured when he murmured, “Let’s take this upstairs, yeah?” Before you could even answer he had sped the pair of you to the bedroom and you let your feet return to the floor.
As he stood in front of you, you took him in, swollen lips and Halloween hair completely tossed, not to mention the tent in his trousers that was very visible despite the layers of his costume. When your bodies collided again, it was a frenzy of hands, the both of you practically tearing the fabric off the other until you were in nothing but your underwear, kissing sloppily and stumbling towards the bed.
Peter’s lips attached to your chest again the second your back hit the mattress. He groped at your right breast while his tongue sucked on the other, swapping over before you pulled him back up to you.
The way he slotted between your legs and how his forehead rested on yours felt so perfect, you couldn’t help but grin.
“You’re gorgeous, sweetheart.” He muttered between kisses against your lips, his hands kneading your breasts as he did.
You were practically dripping by the time his hand slid down your stomach and under the band of your underwear. For someone with super speed he was moving agonisingly slow at the moment, his hand rubbing languidly over your wet core while he swallowed your moans.
“Fuck- God, Peter please.” You whined, your hips bucking into his hand, desperate for more friction than he was giving you.
The sound of your voice, so needy for him, was all he needed before he was pulling your underwear off, tossing the thin material over his shoulder haphazardly and shimmying out of his own boxers, clumsily kicking them away from his ankles, earning a giggle from you.
When he kneeled on the bed between your bent and separated knees you sat yourself up, sliding one hand up his bare chest and resting it against his shoulder while the other slid downward, only stopping once it was wrapped around his shaft. Peter sucked in a harsh breath when your began pumping him softly, the man completely losing it when your thumb swiped over his tip collecting the precum that had gathered and using it to wet the length of his dick as you continued to fuck him with your hand.
As much as Peter was loving the image and feeling of you jacking him off, he knew if you carried on he wouldn’t be able to last much longer. Still, he didn’t have the heart to pull your hand away when you were making him feel so good. His head found it’s favourite spot in the crook of your neck and he groaned out against the skin that was littered with little purple and red marks from his earlier work, which he’d be sure to admire later, “Shit, Y/n-“ He croaked through a moan, hands gripping your hips as he fought the urge he had to thrust into your hand, “M’not gonna last much longer if you keep doing that.” He groaned out, almost reluctantly, not truly wanting you to stop while simultaneously craving more.
You stopped your motions at his statement, giggling when he let out a strangled noise of disappointment at the sudden lack of pleasure. Doing the honours, you lined him up with your entrance, letting him take over when his lips connected with yours.
Peter gently pushed you back until your head was resting against your pillow and your back was flush with the mattress. His lips continued to mesh with yours as he pushed into you inch by inch until he bottomed out. The deep groan he released was music to your ears and your hands gripped his biceps when he began to thrust in and out.
A symphony of moans filled the room as Peter had managed to set a steady pace, trying his best not to let his mutation get the best of him, as much as he wanted to just go to town he was determined to make you feel as good as you made him feel and judging by the way your head was thrown back and his name fell from your lips like a prayer; he guessed he was doing an okay job.
In only a few minutes Peter had you gasping and clutching onto him like your life depended on it as he picked up speed, one of his hands reaching down between your bodies to rub your clit, his hips snapping against yours. Soon enough, you felt the pressure in your stomach release, your walls clenching around Peters dick as your back arched and you released around him. After only a few more staggered strokes, Peter moaned your name against your lips, finishing inside of you and thrusting lazily, riding out his high and subsequently helping you ride out yours.
You let out a blissful sigh when Peter pulled out and rolled over to lay on his back beside you, his chest heavy and his blonde hair sticking slightly against his forehead.
“That- that was awesome.” He mumbled, intertwining his fingers with yours, holding your hand by his side.
Over the last couple of nights you and Peter had, admittedly, ended up in a similar position but neither of you intended for it to happen. It’d usually start off innocently enough, with cuddling or just talking and then one of you would move in just that little bit closer and things would escalate. But there was something about this time that felt a lot more emotional than the few times before. “It was.” You agreed with an airy giggle, squeezing his hand affectionately.
A gust of air shook you from your haze. Peter had taken it upon himself to clean up the mess the pair of you had left between your legs, a pair of his boxers and one of his t-shirts now adorned your body matching him as he wore the same.
He was on his side facing you, his arms holding you against his chest securely the same way they had the night you’d shown up in WestView and urged him to kiss you. When he took you in, he kicked himself for missing out on so much of you for so long.
He was certain, one of these days he’d actually speak the three words that followed him around whenever he thought about you, but as he watched your eyes flutter closed, he decided the words would be best spoken some other time. He was well aware you already knew, just as he was well aware that you loved him, it needed to be said. Eventually, but not quite yet.

“No you don’t understand, I have to get back!” :))))
Their job had its dangerous moments. Eddie didn’t really consider it a dangerous job – no, it wasn’t always dangerous. Sometimes, the job was rescuing cats, and breaking in locked doors, and sometimes – sometimes it was fires like this. It had been a bad fire long before it had been upgraded to a five-alarm fire – a multistorey apartment building that had gone up like a tinder block, clearly not adhering to a single building, or fire safety standard. Half the residents were students, too many people living in each apartment and scared out of their minds, and the rest were families.
The scene was chaos – it had been from the moment the 118 had come on scene, the third unit called in, Hen and Chimney trying to deal with triaging patients and Buck and Eddie right on search and rescue.
Eddie would probably be more scared of his job if he had to do it without Buck. Walking into every rescue, every fire, knowing he had Buck by his side – it made it less terrifying, because Buck was the best goddamned firefighter Eddie had ever met. He was quick, and clever, and he’d always had Eddie’s back, and it made the dangerous moments feel so much less overwhelming.
The evacuation order had come, a few hours into the chaos. Bobby’s voice had cracked over the walkie-talkie, calling them out immediately. The building wasn’t safe, Bobby had roared – they were calling it. It was about to collapse.
Those moments, when that call came through – those were the worst moments, Eddie decided. There were people in the building – they knew that for sure. There was eight people unaccounted for, and they were about to become eight people they weren’t going to be able to save. Eddie had joined the fire department to save – to rescue, to heal, to put out fires – and every day they weren’t able to get everyone out, they were bad days.
Eddie didn’t know the eight people’s names – but he’d imagine who they were, long after they cleared the scene. He’d wonder if they had a partner, or kids, who their families were – what kind of job they had. If they’d been happy. The magnitude of the loss of a human life was too much to comprehend – let alone eight.
Chimney’s wide-eyed look made Eddie’s stomach twist, as he finally made it out of the burning building.
“What?” Eddie looked at his colleague. “What did I miss?”
“Eddie,” Chimney’s voice was hoarse. “Where’s Buck?”
If Eddie didn’t have the medical knowledge to know otherwise, he’d say he was having a heart-attack. “He’s behind me,” he said, sure of his words. Bobby’s evacuation order had come through, and Buck had tapped Eddie on the shoulder, and nodded, letting Eddie lead the way out of the fire. Eddie hadn’t checked, because Buck was always behind him.
“Eddie, he’s not,” Chimney’s voice was gentle, but his worry was clear.
Eddie felt wild, with the knowledge that Buck was still in a burning, collapsing building. He’d barely gotten his mask off, but he was putting it on again, shaking his head. “I’m going in,” he said, not asking – he wasn’t going to ask for permission, not when it came to Buck.
“No, you’re not,” Bobby’s tone was firm as he joined the conversation. “He’ll get out.”
Eddie shook his head. “I’ve got to go back in,” he said in a rush.
“Eddie, I said no.”
“No, you don’t understand, I have to get back – I have to get back inside,” Eddie practically begged, hating the way tears welled in his eyes as he begged Bobby. He had to get back, and he had to make sure Buck was okay – because it couldn’t end like this, in the middle of the night, at a shitty, chaotic apartment block fire.
“Eddie, they called the evacuation, you cannot go back in,” Bobby said. “He’ll get out. Okay?” he didn’t wait for an answer, clicking on his radio. “Firefighter Buckley – report, please.”
Silence. Overwhelming, terrifying silence.
“Firefighter Buckley,” Bobby repeated. “Come in, please.”
The static crackle of the radio felt like it was being played at top volume, Eddie’s heart thundering in his chest. There was – there was so much he still needed to say, things he still needed to tell Buck. He’d been so sure they finally had time, now, because now they were finally on the same page, and Eddie was ready, he was so ready for the next chapter of his life with Buck, and he hadn’t told him.
What if he never had the chance to tell him?
What if – what if Eddie had missed his chance?
“Firefighter Buckley,” Bobby tried again, the tremor in his voice the only indication that he was as worried as Eddie felt, in that moment. “Come in, Buck,” he pleaded. “Please.”
There was an agonising pause, and then a shout – a shout from Hen, of all people, their colleague waving manically from close to the building where she was triaging a patient who needed a gurney.
Eddie’s life felt like it was flashing before his fucking eyes as he realised it was Buck, who was stumbling out of the building, his mask cracked and his helmet damaged, but he was alive – he was alive and Eddie’s feet were moving before his brain fully came back online, Eddie sprinting as best he could in his heavy turnout gear, skidding to a stop as Buck stumbled, and collapsed right into his arms.
“You were supposed to be behind me!” Eddie couldn’t help his accusatory tone, kneeling with Buck in his arms, his best friend’s chest heaving as he tried to suck in some oxygen. How long had he been in there, without a mask? Eddie ripped his own off, sliding it over Buck’s face with a practised ease, letting Buck burrow into his chest.
Eddie held Buck tightly – more tightly than he probably should be, given Buck was definitely showing signs of a concussion and needed to be looked at by an actual medical professional – but he couldn’t help himself, holding tightly to the younger man as tears streamed down his dirty, soot covered face.
Buck’s fingers tapped against Eddie’s arm in a signal that had become so familiar, over the years. Fires were loud, and sometimes you couldn’t talk – so they’d developed their own system for communicating, a series of taps and touches that helped them navigate their worst scenes.
I’m sorry.
Gently cupping the back of Buck’s neck, Eddie traced the letters, unable to say the words, just yet.
I love you.
Buck practically melted, in Eddie’s arms. Two taps, to Eddie’s arm.
Eddie couldn’t help but grin – he knew what that meant.
I know.

Helllooooo
Soo I just saw you're headcannons are literally 💞💞
It's lowkey the only thing keeping me safe and alive ✋😌......soooooo can I request Gom + kuroko and kagami (if it's to much you can just doo Aomine, Kise and Midorima and akashi)where they accidentally hurt their s/o feelings pleaaseeeeee..... I need some angst but please end it in fluff (cuz i lowkey cannot handle it)
Please take care of yourself, your health always comes first, I love youuuu ❤❤❤
Ofc love! I hope you're doing well and I love you too :) <333
Akashi
He disregarded your hard work :(
You're trying to start your own small business and you're having a little trouble, which is not unusual that happens sometimes!
You were having trouble hiring employees and you were talking to him about it, and he was in a bad mood prior to you approaching him
"You're not going anywhere with this. It would just be better to give up on it. You're not going to make it that far even if you do succeed. And can you leave? I'm busy and all you're doing is acting as a distraction."
You just froze, you couldn't believe what he had just said
Not only did he know how much work you were putting in, he also knew how excited you were for the future of your shop too
You didn't even say anything, you just froze with shock, hurt, and surprise and stomped out of his office
You left the house, you needed some time to cool off and cry
It took Akashi a second to realize what he had said and how hurtful his words were, so he started looking all over for you in the house. He goes into the garage to see your car is gone and he assumes the worst.
You don't pick up the phone when he calls you or answer his texts, opting to turn it off after the fifth call.
You stay by your best friend for the night and they comforted you and told you he probably didn't mean it, and that you can stay as long as you need
After you leave from by your friends place you go to your favorite cafe for some breakfast
And guess who's there, Akashi.
You turn around and walk out because you were honestly not ready to deal with him just yet and it was too early in the morning for all that
He catches you on the way out and apologizes :)
"Love, I apologize for what I said yesterday. It was inconsiderate, hurtful, and wrong. You've been working so hard on your business and you're doing your best to make it happen. I was in a bad mood yesterday and I dont know what came over me. Will you forgive me?"
Looking you in the eye as he spoke every word, holding your hands and rubbing them, you know he was truly sorry and wants to fix what he did.
"I forgive you Sei, but what you said was really hurtful. You know how much this means to me and how much work I've been putting in. But I do forgive you."
He takes you out to eat at your favorite restaurant and watch a movie afterwards back at home, kisses you tons and holds you in his arms when you fall asleep.
He also puts in a good word with his work associates about your business and you gain more employees and popularity! But unless you want to do it completely on your own he's there supporting you every step of the way and giving you advice :)
Midorima
He acts like your affection is kryptonite, even though you're not a clingy or overly-affectionate person
You guys had been together for about 3-4 months
He always brushes you off even at the most simplest acts of affections, you're starting to really question if he even wants to be together.
Well this particular time he embarrassed you in front of the team :/
There was a break in between practice and you went to give him his water bottle and give him a hug
"Hey Shin he's your water bottle, don't work yourself too hard okay?"
After that you went in for a quick hug but he held a hand against your chest and glared at you
"Why are you always so clingy? You're always on me and its annoying. Can you just leave me alone or leave?"
He said that right in the middle of the court, everyone's eyes were on you and you felt embarrassed.
"...alright."
That's all you after said you shoved the water bottle into his hand and walked out of the gym.
Takao was the one to call him out on his behavior and tell him that he was being rude and that he should apologize
Midorima took that advice and after practice, he went to find you and apologize, except you weren't anywhere he checked or thought you would be
You avoided him for 3 days straight until he arrived at your house unannounced
Your lucky item in his hand, he gives you a well deserved apology
"Y/N I- I'm sorry that I was being rude to you. There was no reason for me to act like that and I haven't been appreciating you like I should. That was rude of me and I hope you except my apology. Also- this is your uh lucky item."
He hands you a plushie :)
He gives you hugs and reassures you that he appreciates your affections despite him not being used to it!
He also got an extra lap at practice from Miyaji lol but he decided not to tell you that part
Kise
Is very busy and it's sometimes hard to make time for you :(
And you also couldn't show him affection in public or be around him because his fangirls would throw a hissy fit
He hasn't been answering his phone and he can't really get that close to you at school so you've been feeling left behind
When you finally managed to catch him, you said you wanted to go out and just catch up because you two haven't spent much time together and he agreed
However Kise forgot about the plans and you were waiting at the restaurant, alone.
You went home that night upset, tired, and wondering if you even want to be in a relationship anymore
You stopped texting him and talking to talk to him at school, not that you even had that much time to talk to him and school anyway
Kise had realised a whole day later that he had forgotten about the plans you two had made together
He took off from work the whole week, even though his manager was mad about it and went off to find you
He found you at a park after school and approached you with flowers in his hand
"Y/N baby I'm so sorry I forgot about our date. I can't imagine how you must've felt and to make up for it I called the whole week off! I'm really, really sorry that I havent had time for you. Do you forgive me?"
"Yeah, I forgive you Kise I'm just really hurt that you stood me up. You knew we hadn't spent alot of time together and I was really hoping to catch up with you that night. But I'm just happy you're here."
He takes you to a concert! Your favorite artist was in town and he bought tickets for the two of you!
The whole week was filled with fun, love, and lots of conversations :)
He promises to make more time for you and be there for you whenever he can!
He also posts you on his socials and shows you affection at school, showing his fangirls that he's not for them, but for you and they can go away of they don't like that
Aomine
You feel like he doesn't put any effort into the relationship
It's always you doing everything, it just gets tiring
He doesn't really make an effort to do anything, like plan dates, hang out, or just spend time together
He also uses basketball as an excuse to not hang out with you when you already know he's not at practice
Like if you want alone time man just say that
So you had planned a date for you two, nothing big just going to the movie theaters yk
He cancelled last minute, saying Imayoshi was forcing him to come to practice
It was a sunday, they don't have practice in sunday
You talked to Momoi as she is a close friend of yours too, about how you feel like you're the only one making an effort and that you feel like he doesn't want to spend time with you
She tells you to confront him about it, so you do
The next time Daiki comes to your house you ask him about it
"It just feels like I'm the only one putting work into the relationship and I feel like you're avoiding me. You make up excuses to not be with me and bail on me last minute...do you even want to be with me? And if you do want alone time just be upfront about it, don't give me terrible excuses or flake out on me."
Aomine honestly didn't know you felt that way
Now that he looks back at it, it has been mainly you doing most of the stuff in the relationship, and he can see why you feel like it's only you trying
"You're right, it has been mainly you doing stuff for both of us. I'm gonna start putting in more effort because it's time I do. I'm sorry that I've been making shitty excuses to not hang out with you, and cancelling all of a sudden. I'll be honest when I don't feel like going out and I'll spend more time with you."
He makes it up to you by taking you to a festival and going to see a movie with you
True to his word, he starts putting more effort into y'alls relationship and you two take turns planning dates
And if he doesn't feel like going out you guys have at home dates instead :)
I know this took a little longer than usual, I'm sorry for the little setback. Hopefully you like them! Thank you for requesting and feedback is appreciated! Love you <333

Hi!! If this doesn't catch your eye, then feel free to delete this.
Could I please request a Bridgerton imagine where Eloise meets Reader and realises that R would be perfect for one of her brothers (you can decide which one)? Eloise then tries to matchmake them or even just introduce them to each other??
so, this is love
“No.”
“Oh, come on, Y/N/N.”
“Nope.”
“Please?”
“No.”
“Pretty please?”
“Eloise, you can give me the sad eyes all you want, my answer is not going to change.”
“But if you just -”
“Eloise, I will burn you with this cigarette in a minute - stop it.”
Eloise slumped back against the tree and gave Y/N a glower that would rival Anthony. Y/N - who’d been friends with the Bridgerton’s for almost four years - ignored the glowering glare her friend was giving her and puffed on her cigarette.
“Are you coming to the ball tomorrow?” Eloise asked, dropping her glower. She reached over and snatched the cigarette out of Y/N’s hand.
“Yes, of course,” Y/N replied, frowning. “You know I am - no.”
“One dance.”
“No.”
“Just one.”
“No.”
Eloise practically growled. “Oh, come on, Y/N! You love Colin!”
“Yes, as a friend, El,” Y/N replied, scoffing. “Don’t you dare try and set me up with your brother.”
Eloise sighed but held her hands up in surrender. “Alright, I won’t. But you’ll still come tomorrow?”
“I don’t really have much choice,” Y/N muttered. “I promised your mother and Anthony.”
Eloise smirked. “She’s terrifying, isn’t she?”
“Put together with Anthony, I felt as if I was going to be executed if I didn’t say yes!” Y/N exclaimed, throwing her hands up. “He glowered at me, El. Glowered.”
“Ah, yes, Anthony Bridgerton’s infamous glower,” Eloise said, nodding. She handed the cigarette back to Y/N. “Now you have to come.”
Y/N let out a sarcastic laugh as she took the cigarette. “Very funny, El.”
“What’s funny?”
Y/N jumped and almost fell off the swing she was sitting on. “Jesus Christ, Benedict!” She exclaimed, putting a hand on her chest.
“Sorry,” Benedict said, struggling not to smile. He sat down on the swing next to her and held his hand out for the cigarette.
“Oh, we’re all just sharing now, are we?” Y/N muttered, handing the cigarette to him.
“We were just talking about how Mother and Anthony managed to make Y/N agree to attend the ball tomorrow night,” Eloise said, picking at the grass around her.
“He glowered, she smiled,” Y/N muttered, shuddering either from the sudden gust of wind or the memory of being cornered in Anthony’s office.
Benedict laughed and choked on the smoke he accidentally inhaled. “Once they corner you, there's no escape, believe me, I know!”
Y/N groaned, slouching as much as she could in the swing. “I don’t want to go, though - no offence.”
“None taken,” Eloise called, shaking her head. “I don’t want to go either.”
Y/N groaned again and leant back on the swing, tilting her head back until her hair was touching the grass. She pushed herself back and forth with her feet as she contemplated her impending doom, half listening to the conversation Benedict and Eloise were having.
She’d never been one for balls - she was a introvert like Eloise - and preferred hiding in her house (or Bridgerton house which was quickly becoming a second home to her) reading a book.
When she’d first entered society she’d been a wallflower. Y/N and Eloise had met at a ball and had bonded over the fact neither one wanted to be there. A few balls later and Y/N found herself dancing with Colin Bridgerton.
It hadn’t taken much before she fell down a rabbit hole titled Big Crush on Colin Bridgerton.
Not that she would ever admit it to anyone. Unfortunately, Eloise had found out and - after much badgering and nagging - Y/N had reluctantly admitted that she was right and ever since then, Eloise had been determined to set her up with her brother.
Y/N had been avoiding Colin ever since Eloise had found out, not that she thought he’d noticed.
Y/N tilted back a bit further and yelped as she lost her balance and fell onto the grass. “Oh, right, that’s it, I’m not going,” she moaned, staring up at the tree and glowering at the inconvenience that had just occurred to her.
Benedict snorted as he stood up and held out a hand to her. “Oh, stop complaining, Y/N/N, you’ll be fine. I’ll keep an eye on you.”
Y/N begrudgingly took Benedict’s hand and allowed him to pull her to her feet and pull a twig out her hair. “Yes, and then the entire ton can glare at me because I’m friends with the most eligible bachelors in London.”
Benedict smacked her on the back of the head and Y/N slapped his arm in retaliation.
“Children,” Eloise called - sounding scarily like Violet. “Y/N, you are coming whether you like it or not. In fact, I’m going to make Benedict come and get you at noon tomorrow so you can get ready here.”
“And so I don’t run away?” Y/N added, raising an eyebrow at Eloise.
“That too.”
Y/N muttered something that sounded suspiciously like she was cursing the entire Bridgerton name, but she nodded. “Fine. Benedict can come and get me.”
“I’m so glad I’m appreciated by you,” Benedict said sarcastically, putting an arm around her shoulders. “It’s such a refreshing change.”
She wasn’t hiding.
There just happened to be a significantly large potted plant in front of the chair she was sitting in.
Y/N had to admit that she did look beautiful. The midnight blue dress sparkled in the dozens of candles dotted around the room and her hair had been pinned up with jewelled violet hair pins that Violet had leant her for the night.
That didn’t, however, change the fact that she didn’t want to be there and was trying her hardest to avoid Colin.
Eloise, however, had had the opposite idea and had been glued to Colin’s side the entire night, trying to find Y/N and make her dance with her brother.
“Is my Mother’s orange tree plant providing subtle enough cover, Y/N/N, or would you like a cheese plant as well?”
Y/N stuck her tongue out at Anthony. “I know you’re joking but I wouldn’t mind if it happened to appear next to the orange tree.”
Anthony chuckled and sat down next to her, offering her one of the glasses of lemonade he’d been holding. “You can’t hide behind a plant all evening.”
“I’m doing a pretty good job of it so far,” she retorted, sipping on the drink. “It is a very nice plant.”
“Why are you hiding?” Anthony asked, leaning back in his chair.
“Your sister is trying to set me up with Colin,” Y/N muttered, glowering at the plant as if it was Eloise’s face.
“Who? El?” “Yes, Eloise,” Y/N snapped. “Once that woman gets an idea she physically cannot let it go until she’s finished with it.”
Anthony laughed. “You’re hiding from Eloise?”
“She’s terrifying when she’s on a mission, Anthony,” Y/N replied, turning in her chair to look at her friend. “You’ve seen her with the whole Whistledown fiasco.”
“I was wondering why she’s been glued to Colin’s side or night,” Anthony mused.
Y/N groaned, dramatically throwing her head back against the wall. “I’m doomed, Anthony. Doomed.”
“Let it never be said you’re not dramatic,” Anthony muttered, sipping his drink. “Want to dance?”
“If I dance she might see me. I should hide behind foliage when possible.”
“She’s not a predator, Y/N. Besides, you promised me a dance,” Anthony said, standing up and holding his hand out.
“No,” Y/N grumbled, taking his hand and letting him drag her onto the floor, “she’s an apex predator.”
Anthony rolled his eyes. “Yes, alright, she’s an apex predator. Now, I know you don’t like my family tonight but please try to avoid stepping on my toes, these shoes have just been polished.”
Y/N resisted the childish urge to stamp on Anthony’s foot, just to prove a point.
The dance was a slightly energetic one - a far cry from a waltz, thankfully - and Y/N found that she was actually enjoying herself. Anthony spun her around the room and lifted her up into the air, watching her giggle with excitement with a triumphant smile.
The song slowly came to an end and they bowed to each other. Y/N giggled again and hugged Anthony.
“I enjoyed that, thank you,” Y/N said, almost beaming. “Oh, fuck.”
Anthony, forgetting that Y/N had spent too much time around them and probably knew more swear words than he did, gaped at her. “What?”
Y/N nodded behind him with fear in her eyes. “I’ve been snared.”
“Y/N! There you are!” Eloise called, barging through the crowd and dragging Colin behind her. Colin followed his sister with an amused smile. “I’ve been looking for you.”
“And I’ve been dancing with Anthony,” Y/N replied, trying to avoid looking at Colin.
Eloise’s eyes narrowed at her for a second. “Colin has a question to ask you,” she said, pushing her brother forward.
Colin stepped forward and Y/N was forced to look at him. She titled her head up - no matter what height she seemed to be, he always seemed to be taller - and met his gaze. She struggled to ignore the butterflies in her stomach as he made eye contact with her and smiled.
“I was wondering if you would like to waltz with me?” Colin asked, gesturing to the band who were preparing for the next dance.
“Waltz?” Y/N asked, staring at him.
“You don’t need anyone’s permission, do you?” Colin asked, frowning. “I just assumed with you being an only child -”
“She has my permission to waltz, brother,” Anthony said, stepping forward and standing next to Y/N. “I am her chaperone after all.”
Y/N gave Anthony a glare of betrayal. “Yes, of course,” she said, turning back to Colin. “I’d be happy to dance with you.”
“Excellent,” Colin said, taking Y/N’s hand.
As he led her to the dance floor, Y/N glared at Anthony and Eloise, who she now realised had teamed up together. They both looked far too pleased with themselves and when they began to follow them onto the dance floor she realised she had no way out.
“Are you alright?” Colin asked, eyeing her with concern as Y/N sighed heavily. “I’ve hardly seen you all evening.”
“I’ve been outside,” Y/N lied, nodding to convince herself. “Away from... people.”
Colin chuckled, nodding with an air of understanding. “Yes, I understand.”
Colin moved his hand on to her waist and Y/N tried not to make the sharp intake of breath she took obvious. His hand rested on her waist and the small of her back, just below where the back of her dress ended and exposed her skin. His other hand grabbed hers and, despite the white, silk gloves she was wearing, she could feel the heat of his hands.
“Y/N?” Colin asked softly.
Y/N’s eyes snapped to his and she was engulfed by the pure delight, love and enjoyment in them. The crinkled slightly as he smiled at her.
“Yeah?”
“We have an audience,” Colin said, nodding to his left.
Y/N followed his gaze and tried not to groan aloud when she noticed the entire Bridgerton family - minus Eloise and Anthony who’d annoyingly joined them on the dance floor - watching them.
“Oh, for -” Y/N cut herself off and sighed. “No, it’s fine,” she said, looking back at Colin.
“Are you sure?” He asked.
The orchestra finished tuning and the first notes of the waltz began.
“Yes,” Y/N said, smiling a pure smile of joy for the first time that night. “It’s perfect.”
They began dancing around the room to the gentle melody of the waltz.
“Have you been avoiding me?” Colin asked suddenly.
Y/N blinked in surprise as he spun her. “You noticed?”
She mentally cursed herself because that was not what she meant to say.
“Of course I noticed, Y/N,” Colin said, frowning. “I go to talk to you and you’re not there. You’ve disappeared off with Hyacinth or Benedict.”
Y/N sighed, realising she wasn’t going to get away with lying. “Ok, fine. I have been avoiding you, Colin.”
Y/N cursed in her head as Colin spun her away to Anthony (she was beginning to suspect the two Bridgerton siblings had purposefully joined them in the dance to make it even harder to talk to him).
“Bad time,” she growled to Anthony.
“Eloise forced me too,” Anthony replied, unfazed by the anger that was directed at him.
“Can I ask you a question?” Y/N asked, looking up at him.
“Of course, Y/N/N.” “Am I... suitable for Colin?” She asked, finally voicing her main concern and the reason she’d been avoiding him. “I know I'm not a perfect lady - and I have hardly any dowry and that my family is all but non-existent -”
“Y/N,” Anthony said softly, cutting her off. “You are more than enough for my brother. I don’t care about anything except the fact that you love him.”
Y/N opened her mouth to protest but Anthony cut her off before she could.
“I’ve seen the way you two look at each other, Y/N,” he said gently, twirling her. “You are practically a Bridgerton already, why not make it official?”
Y/N’s eyes widened but before she could question him, she was spun back to Colin.
“So, we were talking about you avoiding me,” Colin said, a cheeky grin on his face.
Y/N let out a stuttered breath as Colin moved his hand up slightly, his fingers brushing over her bare back.
“Colin... I...”
“I know,” Colin said gently, looking her in the eye.
Y/N faltered. “You know... what?”
“Why you’ve been avoiding me,” Colin elaborated.
“Oh?” “Eloise told me.”
“Oh.”
Colin laughed. “You’re change of tone is so telling - you are rubbish at hiding your emotions.”
“Yeah, well I’m obviously not that bad,” Y/N muttered. “What did Eloise say, exactly?”
“That you like me and she’s been trying to set us up for the past few weeks,” Colin replied, twirling her around a few times. “Is that why you’ve been avoiding me?”
Y/N shrugged slightly. “You’re a Bridgerton, Colin. You could have any woman in this room - the majority of whom are far more suitable than me, an orphan with hardly any dowry and a grandmother who doesn’t care -”
“But I want you, Y/N,” Colin said, moving his hand from her back to tilt her chin up.
Y/N allowed him to lift her head up and gazed into his eyes. “You... want me?”
“I did just say that, didn’t I?” Colin quipped, his eyes twinkling.
Y/N rolled her eyes. “Haha, very funny.” She paused. “But... you do want... me?”
“Of course I do!” Colin said, surprised that she was even doubting his affections. “Y/N, I’ve wanted you from the moment you walked into me and nearly fell down the stairs.”
Y/N let out a snort that she quickly disguised with a cough. “Thank you for saving me, by the way,” she replied, smiling. “That would have been interesting.”
“Especially since you almost took Benedict out with you,” Colin added.
Y/N laughed, throwing her head back. “Oh, god, don’t remind me!”
Colin moved his hands to her waist and lifted her into the air as the music reached its climax. He slowly lowered her back down, his hands staying on her waist, and Y/N felt the sudden urge to take him there and then.
“I love you, Y/N Y/L/N,” Colin said softly, his voice almost a whisper in her ear. “I love everything about you. I love your clumsiness, your eye for art, the way you sing... I love you.”
Y/N looked up at him. “I love you too, Colin.”
Colin smiled and stepped closer to her, his hands tightening on her waist.
Someone bumped into Y/N and she fell forward into Colin - the man catching her and holding her up against him.
“Stupid heels,” Eloise cursed, wobbling and grabbing Anthony’s arm to steady herself. “Oh, hi! How was your dance?”
Y/N bit her lip and looked at Colin, struggling not to laugh. “Someday, Eloise,” she said, turning to look at her friend, “I’m going to be hanged for murdering you.”
Eloise took Y/N’s arm. “If you get caught I’ll be disappointed.”
“Who said I’d be caught?” Y/N questioned. “I just assumed your brothers would hang me themselves.”
The two women laughed as they walked off to the drinks table, chatting vividly about a subject women probably shouldn’t be talking about.
“I love her, brother,” Colin said, turning to look at Anthony.
Anthony chuckled and smiled, patting him on the back. “Yes, I noticed, Colin,”

The great adventures of y/n tommy tubbo and jack - using tanks to battle
requested: yes/no
this is part 11 to the great adventures series
it was now 5 am you had been on facetime with ranboo since he started streaming at 10 pm neither of you was going to sleep anytime soon
“isn’t it like 5 am for you”
“trying to get rid of me then”
“no no no soon enough I’m going to be stuck with you pretty much 24/7”
“heh? aren’t you staying with tubbo when you come to the UK?”
you watched his face turn red thinking that he had said something that he wasn’t supposed to tell you it was only when he looked up to see you with your head tilted he realised you weren’t aware of what was going to happen in the following weeks
“I will tackle you in the middle of the airport if you don’t tell me what you tubbo and lani mean when you all make comments about me constantly being around yous”
“I cannot wait to see you try”
“I'm blocking you”
hours passed and it was now time for you to get ready to go meet the others you left your phone on your bed whilst you went to get ready by the time you returned ranboo had fallen asleep
“goodnight boo not long now till you’re in the UK, you’re asleep I’m talking to myself goodnight”
since your parents had to go to work they offered to drop you off on the way, the journey to meet the others was pretty uneventful you just spent the time talking about how streaming was going and future plans. that was until your parents mentioned ranboo was flying over soon
“your friend is flying over soon right?”
“ranboo oh yeah yeah he gets here on 26th as far as I’m aware i’m going to tackle him in the middle of the airport”
“great great you’re going with tubbo to meet him, do you know how long you’re going to be out”
“..no why? shouldn’t be too long”
“don’t worry about it darling we’re here now oh look here comes tubbo”
as soon as the car stopped you laughed as you noticed in the corner of your eye tubbo running towards the car you said your goodbyes as you got out of the car and was instantly pulled away by tubbo
“oh oh okay tubbo I think I can walk on my own bud”
tubbo completely ignored every word you had just said and continued leading the way to the others where you were met by Tommy shouting about tanks and jack pretending not to know Tommy.
the four of you went to get ready, a simple enough task or so you thought as when you looked up you noticed Tommy was putting the outfit on the wrong way around
“Are you sure it’s safe for Tommy to drive a tank..”
“help me then”
“no”
a few minutes later the four of you were now equipped with your rather baggy army uniform safe to say if it started to rain you'd have to deal with getting wet as if you put the hood up it would cover your eyes taking away your eyesight which is unsurprisingly important since you were about to drive a tank for the first time. as soon as you all thought you were ready to go to the tanks tubbo announced that although it’s a bad time he needs to go to the toilet
“he’s fucking waddling”
“y/n be nice to your best friend”
you stood laughing to yourself as Tommy was arguing with Jack about how he’s your best friend, not tubbo.
“believe it or not I’m their best friend”
“elaborate on that”
“no”
“i’d argue ranboos their best friend”
halfway through their ‘argument’ tubbo came back and rested his head on your shoulder making you jump
“you're so tiny”
“I beg your pardon tubso”
the worker came over taking you all to the tank you would be driving putting Tommy and jacks argument on hold, for the time being, you were honestly so excited to drive a tank but you were also nervous as you weren’t exactly a great driver
“y/n doesn’t have a license can I get out the tank when it’s their turn”
“you crashed your parents' car fuck off”
before you all got in you were informed that the tank wasn’t designed to take you on adventures so you were probably going to get injured
“great cant wait in you go Tommy”
Tommy got in first followed by you then tubbo and jack
“draw me like one of your beautiful tank girls”
“I failed GCSE art”
“HOW”
“that my friend is a story for another night”
now this tank wasn’t designed so three of you could look out from the top of the tank so you did what every sensible person would do in a tank…you sat on the floor next to tubbo whilst he annoyed jack by touching his face
“y/n you okay down there”
“having the time of my life”
you could hear Tommy revving the tank and from then you could just tell you were going to leave the tank covered in bruises. you sat talking to tubbo and jack who were talking louder than usual just so you could join in the conversation. not seeing what was happening made the tank ride interesting, to say the least. one minute you were messing with tubbos shoelaces the next minute you heard three boys yelling that there was a cow in the middle of the road. it was now tubbos turn to drive and rather than letting you stay with the others he dragged you with him
“you’re driving next may as well stay with me”
“Please don’t crash I will get injured”
“to be fair y/n I didn’t plan on it”
you sat near tubbo watching him drive the tank occasionally yelling words of encouragement at him for your own entertainment and totally not to your surprise he was actually doing a decent job, he didn’t crash, the tank was going quicker and the ride wasn’t as bumpy then tubbo stalled, you could hear Tommy and jack yelling at tubbo to do more killing. you laughed as tubbo would look at the worker then at you not knowing what to do
“Are you ready to drive y/n”
“I guess so”
you and tubbo swapped places and you began to drive like your good friend tubbo you were decent at driving as you managed to pick up some speed along with many comments from jack and Tommy about how bumpy the ride was alongside tubbo yelling at you that you were going to be responsible for the bruises on his arms and legs
“tubbo stop being dramatic it’s not my fault the road is bumpy”
“Y/N I'M NOT”
“Okay then you’re responsible for the bruises on my arms and legs because you decided to stall”
It was now jacks turn you sat next to tubbo where you and Tommy argued that you didn’t like how Minecraft split the caves and cliffs update into two parts
“IT SAID CAVES AND CLIFFS UPDATE AND IT DIDN'T ADD CAVES AND CLIFFS UPDATE”
“you're such a tory y/n agrees with me”
“NO I DON'T I WANTED TO EXPLORE PRETTY CAVES NOT GET CHUCKED OFF OF A CLIFF BY A GOAT”
the three of you continued arguing your points before jack interrupted you all
“we’re talking about the new Minecraft update…because it was you we weren’t really paying attention”
“I DROVE BETTER THAN ALL THREE OF YOU”
“but no you didn’t”
“YOU'RE A PRICK MANIFOLD”
before Jack could answer Tommy began ranting about the update again before being once again interrupted by jack telling him you were about to shoot things and then go up against a tank that was miles better than the one you were all in, the one thing they didn’t know is you would be going with the boss against them just so you could actually have a role in the mini battle rather than just sitting there. you stood shaking your head as Tommy and tubbo made jokes about the balls you were all given
“say it”
“I like balls”
“jack they’re talking about balls…again”
Tommy was first to shoot whilst you and tubbo stood telling jack that the two of you would be the reason you win the battle against the boss, jack went up next and you both were telling Tommy that you weren’t scared of the boss after the last bit of practice you all went back to reception with the worker where he announced the roles you were all going to have
“so my aimer loader and driver”
“Are we allowed to ram tanks”
“no”
jack was the first to realise you hadn’t received a role for the fight against the boss and spoke up about it making tubbo and Tommy realise you did in fact not receive a role
“wait what about y/n they didn’t receive a role”
the worker just nodded at the four of you confusing the hell out of the others while you stood looking around the room to avoid laughing, you didn’t want the others to know so said you’d be back later you just needed to go to the bathroom. rather than going to the bathroom you went off to meet the boss before the others and decided what role you were going to have.
after discussing what role you were going to have the pair of you went back to meet the worker to let him know you have a plan
“LOOK ITS THE BOSS”
“…and y/n”
“oh now we’re losing”
the worker went up to their table to create a plan, once you watched the worker walk away you made your way over to the table they moved to where Tommy was having a ‘date’ with a mannequin
“Woah am I interrupting something”
“I'm on a date y/n”
“y/n you really had to leave me with tubbo and Tommy”
you whispered that you were sorry so Tommy and tubbo couldn’t hear then turned your attention back towards Tommy’s date which wasn’t going very well as Tommy accidentally pulled the wig off of one of the mannequins only to find out that his ‘date’ was also wearing a wig.
it was now time for the battle clearly best friends think alike as you and tubbo both had the role of driver. you and the boss made a strong team and you surprisingly got along well with each other which made teamwork easy making you more of a challenge for Tommy’s team
“yooo this is amazing”
“you’re doing great y/n”
as soon as the boss made the final shot you cheered
“do you think we won then y/n”
“I'm not sure they did put up a good fight”
“come on let’s head back so you can be with your friends again”
the pair of you made it back after thanking him you ran to tubbo, who for some reason was on the floor, and tackled him into a hug before sitting next to him
“AH FUCK”
“HI TUBSO WHY ARE YOU IN THE MUD”
“BECAUSE WE WON”
“mhm sure”
“What role did you have y/n”
“driver”
“NO WAY ME TOO”
your celebration was short-lived as Tommy decided to chuck mud at the pair of you yelling catch when it was far too late to react, you both looked at each other nodded at chucked mud back at him and jack
“ayo we hit him”
after playing in the mud with tubbo for a while jack called you both over to hear the scores and find out who won
“Why do you both have smiley faces on your face”
“y/n used mud to draw a smiley face on my cheek so I got revenge”
in the end, Tommy's team got 10 and began celebrating that they had won
“the boss and y/n got 11”
“LETS GOOOOO”
after bragging about your win you and tubbo ran off throwing mud at each other and Tommy whilst Tommy and jack bickered about who made them lose a few moments later you and tubbo looked up to see Tommy running past you both
“I don't think he's taking the news well”
you all made your way back to the car park Tommy and jack left together tubbo stayed with you waiting for your parents to pick you up on their way back home.
“you could just stay the night at mine..we could stream for a little while I’m sure you’ve left something that you can wear for the night and tomorrow and to be fair you stay at mine all the time”
“yeah I probably do I’ll call them on the way back to yours”
“come on let’s go home”

How Genshin Impact characters would react to someone flirting with you || (Liyue)
Hello everyone! I apologize for the wait but I finally finished the Liyue version ٩( ᐛ )و I was originally supposed to divide it into 2 parts but then I decided against it ( ͡°³ ͡°). Part 3 will probably be uploaded in 3 days. But in the meantime, enjouy reading! o(〃^▽^〃)o
-E <3
Zhongli ❌💸
How he'd react to someone flirting with you really just depends on his mood
He doesn't really interfere because he knows you can handle it yourself
You two have had the person flirting with you pay or discount something you both bought on more than one occasion and he's not even ashamed of it
"Ah, my lady. Your beauty is simply etheral."
The shop owner said as you examined the jade.
You looked up from the Noctilucous Jade and met Zhongli's eyes. Completely ignoring the owner.
Zhongli's put the Jade onto the table and reached into his pouch for Mora.
Though, once he opened it; he grimaced. Once you saw his expression you realized that neither of you had enough Mora to pay for the Jade.
You cringed as you saw the amount of Mora in the pouch and looked back at the shop owner to apologize.
That was, before an idea clicked into your mind.
You then berought forth the most charming and flirtatious face you could muster and smiled at the shop owner.
"My deepest apologies Sir, but I don't think we'll be able to buy from you today. " You sighed.
The owner widened his eyes at your statement and quickly replied with
"Oh no, it's fine your can just pay any amount you have now and come back to pay for the rest! "
"Thank you so much Sir, I am forever in your debt for this. " You said as you grabbed his hands.
The owner was completely smothered by now, he had completely forgotten Zhongli's presence and was looking at you with completely entranced eyes.
If it wasn't for Zhongli's years of experience in concealing his expressions, he would probably be laughing out loud by now.
"That was quite the show my dear, I doubt that he would have noticed anything even if we had robbed his whole stall. "
Beidou 🏴☠️♀️
Just like with Kaeya, no one would really flirt with you since they know about your relationship with the captain of The Crux unless they're clueless
And Beidou being Beidou, would not take shit from anyone. Clueless or not
If the other person is being persistent, she doesn't really mind throwing hands
"It's a shame that you have a lover, otherwise i'd have made you mine by now. " The creep said as he grabbed both of your hands.
You leaned backwards, trying to get away from the man. You desperately scanned the area for anyone who would help you.
You then met Beido's eyes with a look that clearly read "please help me".
Once she saw you, Beido walked over and tapped the man on the shoulder.
"She's mine, now let her go." She said as she glared at the man who was holding onto your hands.
"And if I don't?"
The person didn't even register anything before Beido's fist collided with his jaw.
"I ain't scared of fines, I'll fight whoever disrespects my partner"
Xiao 🔪👺
Doesn't really care if the other person is flirting with you or not
If it gets to the point of harassment he will give them a whack with his polearm
He looks like he doesn't care about you but that's just because he knows who you're going back home with
"Would you like to accompany me on my travels, my fair lady? " The traveler said as he loaded his belongings onto his cart.
"I'd have to decline the offer. I already have a lover I am devoted to. " You said with a smile as you passed him the packed food you had bought from the inn.
Xiao watched you two from the distance, he sat on the balcony if the Inn as he waited for you to bid him farewell on his missions as well.
"Were you watching me? " You said you peek at him from behind.
"I was simply making sure he was not a dangerous individual. " Xiao replied, stotic as usual.
"Are you here to bid me goodbye?" He asked as he gazed at you.
"Goodbye? Oh no, I'm going with you! "
"Even though you are hundreds of years old does not mean you are invincible. Therefore, you should refrain from fighting recklessly. "
Xingqiu ⚔📚
He usually just tells the person bothering you to back off, politely. Of course
Though, he doesn't really mind if the other person is rude or persistent; it's just an excuse for him to have a little 'fun' behind the scenes
If they're rude, they'll most likely find themselves having a number of minor inconveniences
"Sir, please let go of my partner." Xingqiu confronted the creep.
You quickly ran to his side. Not wanting to be near the man for a millisecond longer.
"And what's the pretty boy going to do to me?" He jabbed at the blue haired boy.
Although he was slightly irritated. Xingqiu paid no mind to him and walked you back to your house.
"Y/n do you recall the creep from yesterday afternoon? Yes, I received a notice that he is trying to buy brass for his stall. I convinced every merchant selling fish in Liyue to not sell him any, I also bought some brass. Would you like some? "
Chongyun ❄🍦
He doesn't really like confronting people so he'd just make up an excuse to take you away from them
If the other person decides to be start an argument, he'd try to keep his cool. Not wanting to go into the manic state he usually gets into once his body overheats
Sadly, on more than one occasion; he has lost his cool and completely and ends up causing chaos to anyone who's unfortunate enough to be nearby
It's been at least a solid 15 minutes since the guy sitting next to you have been pestering you about going with him to the Lantern Rite festival.
And for what felt like the 30th time, you declined.
You really wanted this person gone before you meet up with Chongyun but he kept following you so you just plopped down somewhere on the stone ground.
Unfortunately for you, the other person did not take the cue for him to leave but instead; had taken it as an invitation to sit down and talk with you instead.
At some point, you considered kicking him in the face but refrainwd from doing so. But now, you're regretting that decision.
"Y/n! Me and Xingqiu were looking all over for you. " Chongyun said as he ran over to you two.
The guy looked surprised as the two boys walked over you where you were sitting.
"Who are these people? " He said. As if they were the ones invading into someone's personal space.
Chongyun instantly realised the situation and whispered something to Xingqiu. He then gave you the hand signal for "Run for it" And pointed to behind him.
Almost in a flash, all of you three started sprinting away, leaving behind a very confused person.
"Thank Rex Lapis we didn't actually get into a fight this time"
Hu Tao 👻🔥
Whenever she sees someone flirting with you, she'd ask them about their health
She'd then weird them out by introducing her as the 77th director of Wangsheng funeral parlour
The person flirting with you would probably be very uncomfortable at this point and leave, but if they don't Hu Tao would hand then one of her buy 1 get 1 funeral coupons
"I simply cannot resist your beauty. " The man said as he leaned in closer to your face.
"Hello there good Sir! How is your health? " Hu Tao asked as she appeared seemingly out of nowhere and before you.
The man seemed confused at her question.
"Pardon? " He asked.
"Ah, I have forgotten that I have yet to introduce myself. Please call me Hu Tao. 77th director of the Wangsheng funeral parlour! " She introduced herself and took out her hand for him to shake.
He seemed a bit uncomfortable at the mention of funerals but nevertheless he ignored Hu Tao and went back to your conversation.
"What do you say to dinner at Wanmin Restaurant? " He pressed on, flat out ignoring Hu Tao's whole existence all together.
"Here's a coupon, it's buy one funeral, get one free. I hope I'll see you soon! " She said as she dragged you away. Leaving behind a very disturbed man.
"I should've said 'I hope to see you again businesses-wise. ' "

I hope you’re happy with the ending because it took me a really long time to decide how I could finish off this story with justice. Thank you again, truly😘 Please reblog and like🖤
Part One: Shattered Heart Part Two: Troubled Heart Part Three: Bewildered Heart
♡
Three tortuous days had passed since you had last seen or spoke to Chris, three days since you kicked him out your home. You’d had nightmares about being in a loveless and hateful marriage, steamy dreams about your recent rendezvous and nights where you just felt so alone that you had cried yourself to sleep. It was safe to say that the past three days had been exhausting.
Although fucking Chris in the kitchen during a harrowing argument probably wasn’t the smartest thing you’ve done, it led to some realisations about how you wanted to proceed with your marriage. You definitely didn’t regret anything you said, or did with Chris that day and that was what you found important amongst the disaster. Not regretting your decisions meant that you knew you wanted to move forward in your marriage, and not look backwards; something you would consider a big first step in repairing your marriage. You knew you couldn’t forget what happened and would have to address it before moving forward but you knew you had the desire to push through the hard times.
You’d called Chris that morning and told him that you wanted him to come home, not that he could or should but that you wanted him at home with you. Emotionally, it felt like the right decision, because at the end of the day he was your husband and you missed him. Practically, it is his home as well and it was the only place you could both be to sort out your marriage with privacy. You didn’t want to be surrounded by the media or by prying eyes. Hell, you didn’t even want the opinion of family or friends, this was between you and Chris only.
As you tidied up the house a bit and thought about the moment Chris would walk through the door, it was clear to you that no matter how angry or hurt you were, Chris was your endgame. You had played all the variables over and over in your head loads of times, societal rights and wrongs about cheating when you realised, fuck society. You would never leave your husband over this, and that was okay. This was your story and who cared what anyone else thought, because you didn’t want to give up. You owe it to yourself, to your marriage, to try and fix everything before throwing it away.
For the first few days, Chris slept in the spare room and you danced around each other, trying to find your new normal whilst you navigated the mess that was your marriage.
Once the first week passed, Chris continued to sleep in the spare room and you finally plucked up the courage to address the problem that had been plaguing your marriage for weeks, months if you consider back to when the problem initially started.
The day you decided to bring it up, you had finished work early and Chris was already at home when you arrived back around 3pm.
Walking through the house, you finally found Chris in the home office.
“I thought you were filming today?” Chris looked up at the sound of your voice.
“Oh hi sweetheart. I didn’t hear you come in? Um, yeah I was but, uh.. she turned up to re-film some scenes so I came home.”
You winced at the thought of her and Chris together but was quickly calmed by the effort Chris had made to avoid her.
Clearing your throat, you found the courage to reply.
“Oh, er, did you not have to keep filming?” Leaning against the door frame, you settled in for a longer conversation.
“It wasn’t anything that I can’t just do another day when she isn’t there. I’ve got some scripts to read over anyway so it’s fine.”
You sighed. This seemed like an appropriate time to bring up the unspoken topic so you could start moving forward but your anxiety felt crippling in that very moment, you didn’t know if you could face it.
“Sweetheart..” Chris whispered, “Y/N, sit down, please..”
You moved to sit down on the small sofa by the window, tucking your feet up and under yourself. Chris moved to join you, sitting fairly close but not touching you as you hadn’t crossed that boundary since he came home.
“Look baby, I’ve been home a week now and we’ve just walked around this house like we are two strangers. I need you to talk to me, tell me what you’re thinking because you’re the one that told me you wanted me to come home?”
You looked up from your lap and straight into Chris’s eyes, “You do feel like a stranger to me.”
You heard his voice hitch in his throat, clearly caught off guard by your blunt answer.
“I’m still me, sweetheart. I’m the same person you met seven years ago and I’m the same person you married four years ago. Please don’t think I’ve changed.”
A lone tear falls straight from your eye, as you whimper, “I miss him.”
It takes Chris no longer than a second to pull you into his lap, all boundaries obliterated, as he hugs you like his life depends on it. As you cry all you can hear is Chris repeatedly whispering, ‘I’m here. I’m still me. I love you.’
You shudder at the softened and sweet contact, something you hadn’t felt for weeks but you embraced it, leaning further into Chris’s chest for comfort.
Once you had basked in the feeling for a bit longer, shutting the world and your problems out, you knew you had to move away. It would have been unfair to give Chris mixed signals as your marriage was still clearly on the rocks.
Sitting back up on the sofa, you composed yourself.
“I know you are still you Chris, but you’ve changed to me now. This you..”, you sigh before continuing, “..you’re tainted and untrustworthy, you’re the man that cheated on me, you’re not my husband. I need to get to know you again, and I need to learn to love our marriage again, and learn to trust you again. It’s going to take time.”
“B-but you want to try?”
“Of course I want to try. Endgame right? That hasn’t changed for me but other things have to change, we cannot continue like this otherwise if something else were to happen, I don’t think we would survive it.”
“I am infinitely yours sweetheart. Forever.” You watch Chris smile sweetly.
Feeling slightly more confident and feeling like Chris has really been listening to you, you knew it was time to talk about her.
“Okay, well whilst we are here, I think we should talk about her. It’s the biggest hurdle for me, and I can’t move past it. I just can’t deal with you seeing her right now, not whilst I’m learning to trust you again. I’ll never trust her so I need to 100% be able to trust you again.”
Grabbing hold of your hand, Chris nods in understanding.
“That is completely fine sweetheart. For now, how about I just work my schedule around when she isn’t there and wait until you are comfortable before I finish filming my scenes with her? I don’t care if it postpones the film, or they replace me, you are more important to me than any film and I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it to you!”
You nod feebly, shocked and relieved with the instant commitment Chris was happy to make to save your marriage and earn your trust back.
An awkward silence falls over the room at the monumental conversation you just had. Needing a moment to yourself, you decide to make a quick exit.
‘Um, I think I’ll go and grab a shower before dinner.” Quickly leaving, you rush to your ensuite.
The shower provided a solace to digest what just happened, a few tears falling as you feel overwhelmed. But you left the bathroom with a renewed sense of hope.
It was another week of tough conversations and private marriage counselling before you felt you had reached another milestone in fixing your marriage.
You were in the ensuite of your bedroom when Chris came in to say goodnight. He was merely wearing a pair of pyjamas bottoms that amusingly you were wearing the matching top of.
He chuckled as he leant against the wall, “I was looking for that top.”
You giggled lightly and blushed, using all your self control to not drool over seeing Chris topless. Unfortunately, you had never been good at hiding any of your emotions from Chris and you saw him smirk slightly at your flustered state.
“Okay, well, I just came to say goodnight, so uh- night I guess..”
You mumbled a goodnight back as Chris turned to walk out the room. A rush of affection from the interaction washed over you causing you to shout back towards Chris to catch his attention.
“Um, stay..”
You saw the startled look on his face as the words left your lips.
“Stay with me tonight..”, you repeated as if you were confirming your own words.
“Yeah, course I’ll stay, if that’s what you want?”, he shuffled back towards you.
“It is what I want.”
You smiled at him sweetly before you brushed past him and moved towards the bed, leaving him a bit stunned in the bathroom.
Weeks passed with no problems. You and Chris had gone back to sleeping in the same bed and you often woke up snuggled together. At first, you’d wake and quickly move away from him however, slowly, you became comfortable with it and you were finally starting to feel at peace in his arms.
You had woken up early this specific Monday morning as it was Chris’s first day back filming with her. You felt sick to the stomach at the thought of him seeing her again and had slept terribly. You knew this day would come and thought you would be, at least slightly prepared, but as the day dawned, you were scared. Nerves caged around your heart as your mind could only replay the moment Chris told you that he had kissed another woman.
Chris had to go back to work, you understood that. He had already put it off for a while and sacrificed enough of his job to try and reconcile your marriage. You almost felt obliged to let him go back to work, who were you to hold your husband back from his job?
You were sitting in the kitchen, slowly nursing a very strong coffee when Chris came down, ready for his day. You glanced up at him briefly, barely acknowledging his words to you.
“Y/N? Sweetheart, are you okay? You’re up really early?”
Glancing at the clock reading 7:30am, you shrugged and mumbled, “Woke up at 5:30am.”
You stared in the abyss, thoughts whirring through your mind. Thinking about being frightened to death about the thought that your marriage wasn’t even halfway back to where it should be. Knowing that Chris would see her today, spend all his time with her whilst you were waiting back at home for him. It felt like some sick and twisted de ja vu.
It had been almost two months since you’d last been with Chris in any form of intimacy, almost four months since you were truly a happily married couple and now he was going to see her again, were you really debating that history would repeat itself?
“Baby, will you talk to me? I can see something is on your mind”, Chris gently rests his hand over yours, bringing you out your nightmarish daydream.
Looking up at Chris, taking in all his handsome features, you thought, how could anyone ever resist him. The thought panicked you even more.
Learning from previous mistakes, you knew it was best to communicate to him how you were feeling.
“I’m scared you’re going to see her again today and history could just repeat itself. Nothing is fixed yet Chris, and it feels like we are already going backwards.”
Just when you thought that being honest and communicating with Chris was the best option, it backfired in your face. Chris scoffed, a look of disgust on his face.
“Huh, you’re not kidding?” Watching him run his hand through his hair, he turns away and slams his coffee mug down on the side. You jump at the aggressive action.
“You really think I’d do that again? You really think that little of me? Have you not seen all the work I’ve put into this fucking marriage the past couple of months?”, he shrugs and turns back to you, “What else do you want from me Y/N?”
You wince at his spiteful words.
“I know you’ve put a lot into this marriage Chris, so have I! We’ve been doing really well, but can you really blame me for having doubts on your first day back with her? I thought you’d understand!”
“No, I don’t blame you, but I thought you’d trust me more that this by now.”
You chew on your lip nervously as you both stare at one another, terrified of the silence.
“I’ve got to go to work Y/N, see you later.” You hear Chris huff before he walks straight out the house, leaving you sitting dumbfounded and anxious at your kitchen table.
Trying to do any work from home was useless as you just felt panicked and couldn’t stop thinking about how Chris’s day was going. You hadn’t heard from him since this morning at it was now 6pm.
After developing a painful stress headache, you decide to lay down in bed. Believing you can block the world out and briefly pretend that nothing is wrong in your marriage, you shut your eyes momentarily.
FLASHBACK.
Waking up so softly, you barely blink your eyes open as you feel tender kisses dancing their way up your back, following the line of your spine. You flutter your eyes open carefully, aware of the vibrant sunlight gracing your face as you try to focus your eyes, gradually making out the floor length curtains gently blowing through the breeze from your open balcony doors. You can hear the soft crashes of the waves and can see the soft, baby blue sky from your place on the bed as you stretch out all your limbs from an energetic night. You let yourself surrender to the feeling of Chris’s lips grazing against your bare body.
As he gradually makes his way up to your neck and cheek, you hum in utter happiness and contentment as he places one final kiss on your cheek as he leans over your body. You can feel every line and shape of his naked form as it presses up against you. You think about how you’ve never felt so happy and loved in this moment, knowing that this is exactly how you’ll get to feel for the rest of your life.
“Good morning Mrs. Evans”, Chris roughly whispers, his voice hoarse from minimal sleep. He nibbles on your ear teasingly before grinding his core over your ass. You whimper at the feeling his movements evoke from you.
“Mhm, I like how that sounds”, you mumble before smiling happily. The use of that name giving you butterflies. The one that now belongs to you, the name that now proves you belong to each other forever.
END OF FLASHBACK.
You wake with a start as you hear the front door slam slightly. You sit up too quickly, as you feel light-headed and your vision blurs slightly. You breath deeply, gaining your bearings before looking at the bedside clock. 7:30pm; you had slept right through dinner.
Not that it mattered because you would have been eating alone anyway, you thought.
Your body adjusts to being awake, your stomach fluttering slightly at the memories and feelings that the dream provoked. Momentarily caught in a fever dream.
Back in reality, you brain registers that there was a slam at the door. Quickly, you get up and rush downstairs to see what is happening.
As you halt at the bottom of the stairs and look out into the open plan room, you see Chris standing by the breakfast bar. The very same breakfast bar that holds so many recent heartbreaking conversations. But this time, it doesn’t bring you sadness.
There Chris stands, holding takeout food in one hand and in the other, your favourite donuts. Behind him, on the wall, hangs the framed photo from your wedding day. Your matching smiles beaming on both your faces, almost as if they are lighting up the room.
You look back at him, standing here in your house. Bringing home dinner to you. Coming home to you.
Your breath catches in your throat, “It’s you Chris, it’s always going to be you.”
You watch him place down the food on the side, before he begins striding towards you. Stuck in your spot, you can’t do anything but smile at your husband as he reaches you.
“Forever yours”, you whisper before Chris’s lips crash onto yours for the first time in months. Your lips work together as your hands grip as his waist and his grasp your neck and face so you can’t move away. So you can only feel Chris, so you can truly remember the raw intimacy and passion between you.
As your lips melt together, it feels as monumental as the moment he kissed you as you became his wife. It feels as if your story is beginning again; with a fresh start and a new-found hope for your marriage.

v.
“This is the last call for Japan Airlines flight 717 to Buenos Aires, now boarding at gate number twelve. This is the last call…”
Goodbyes are hard when you know they’re forever. Or at least a while.
The clamour of Haneda airport dims to a faint buzz as the two of you continue standing with touching shoulders–– facing the jetliner instead of each other–– in futile hopes of delaying the inevitable.
Oikawa knows that you’re holding in your tears by the light tremors running through your body. Permitting himself to steal a look at your side profile, he notices the familiar tensing of your jaw and hard-set look in your red-rimmed eyes.
Tch. You said you wouldn’t cry.
Impulsively, he unzips his backpack and pulls out a familiar turquoise banner. It feels like just yesterday the team handed him the silk fabric with everyone’s farewell gifts wrapped inside.
Out-of-sequence memories of the Spring High qualifiers flash through your mind. The orange-haired Karasuno player’s spike ricochets off Oikawa’s forearms. The numbers on both sides of the scoreboard slowly inch up like they’re taking turns. Oikawa’s white knuckles against the metal basin. Red eyes. Heaving chest. Something soft against your skin. Rule the Court.
And just like the last time, he gently drapes it over your shoulders, brushing his fingers against your neck as he does so. God, how he wants to kiss you.
“But it’s yours,” you protest weakly, making no move to give it back.
“It won’t be for a while.” His voice cracks when he speaks. But it will be mine again when I come back for it.
He wants to kiss you. One last time.
He wants your mouth against his like absolution to a sinner because he knows that what he’s done to you, what he’s doing to you right now, is comparable to desecration. But he remembers the look on your face that night he broke the news to you. How your megawatt grin caved into a wince when the length of his contract with Club Athletico San Juan finally registered in your mind.
You swallow your feelings of betrayal. You knew what you were getting yourself into.
“Five years is an awfully long time to be apart,” you say after a while.
Oikawa bites his lip. He doesn’t have the heart to say that five was just the starting number. If he does well there, he’ll probably stay longer. He’ll probably do well there. “You don’t have to wait for me.”
Seconds drag into minutes. The cavity in his stomach festers as he waits for your response, but he has a feeling that he already knows your answer.
So instead, all he can do when your floodgates finally burst open is cup your face in his calloused palms and wipe away some of your tears before offering you his own watery smile.
Through your blurred vision, you watch as the boy in front of you steels his resolve and disappears from your life through the jet bridge, ignoring his heart as it begs for one last look over his shoulder.
Oikawa nods numbly when the old man sitting beside him asks if he’s leaving home for the first time. Home, he realises, isn’t anywhere with walls, isn’t an address, isn’t even a person. When someone says they want to go home, it’s not a space that they yearn for, but rather, a time.
He watches Japan grow smaller through the window and feels himself yearn for the time he still had your heart in his hands. It felt like he was holding the sun.
i.
You wouldn’t consider July 21st to be a special day. Nothing special happened earlier that morning when you woke up without your usual alarm. Nothing special happened when your friends texted you four simple words–– come to Azukihana beach!–– during breakfast. But (and this will come to you much, much later) something special happened when said friends left you to guard their things as they dashed to the supermarket for more snacks.
For now, it’s just July 21st, and you’re lying with your back against a towel on the first day of summer break, soaking in the sun, peacefully flipping through a book.
“DON’T FUCKING DO IT, YOU COLOSSAL PIECE OF SHIT!” The familiar voice tears through the beach. Was that Iwaizumi? You set the book down and sit up to check.
And suddenly, the yellow and blue volleyball that had been leisurely rolling your way halts perfectly before your toes. Behind it jogs a shirtless brunet you’ve definitely seen around school.
Oikawa Tooru stops right behind the runaway volleyball and peers at you through half-lidded eyes. “Sorry about that,” he says, flashing you a charming smile.
After casually picking up the ball with one hand, he flexes his abdominal muscles as he straightens back up. Chestnut irises attempt to discreetly sweep over your features but you catch his gaze in the act, quirking an unamused brow. You also catch the intrigued twitch of his lips that follow.
You’re not stupid. Despite having never met him, you know a lot about the Grand King (as many call him). He’s the constant subject of Iwaizumi’s ire and you’ve heard a lifetime’s complaints about him at joint-family luncheons.
But here’s what’s important: you know that he tears himself apart to be the player his team needs him to be, that he sometimes makes Iwaizumi wish he’d passed the Shiratorizawa entrance exam, and that he fiddles with hearts like origami and sets fire to those beautiful fragile trinkets right after.
And in the interest of self-defence (but against what the devil on your shoulder begs), you choose to not place your most prized possession on the table.
A simple “no worries” passes through your lips. You return to your book. A page turns.
Oikawa Tooru is dismissed.
Though your gaze is trained on the page, you can feel his presence at your feet for a few seconds longer. You wonder what his next move is. Much to your surprise, instead of trying to strike up another conversation, he simply lets out an airy hum and strolls back to the sand court where he came from without a second glance.
Iwaizumi wonders why Oikawa is smiling so victoriously after watching the whole ordeal, but your tan family friend has, unlike the calculating Grand King, failed to notice one important detail:
your book is upside down.
And, as if in a trance, your eyes have followed Oikawa all the way back to his sandy kingdom.
Once the sun has set, Iwaizumi checks his phone and notices a text he’d missed in the afternoon. It’s from Y/N. Unease digs itself in his chest when he realises it can’t possibly be for anything except…
hey what was that about?
This can’t be good. Thumbs rapidly typing a response, he races to quash any interest you may have budding in Oikawa. You… you’re good. Nice. Smart enough for UTokyo. A bit naive, but he’s been around your overbearing parents long enough to see it’s not entirely your fault. And even though you run in different circles at school, he feels obligated to protect you from monsters that hide beneath pretty surfaces. He’s known you since the two of you were in diapers.
just trash being what it is
Iwaizumi watches the three grey dots on your side appear, disappear, reappear, and disappear again. And that’s when he realises that he cannot help you. The villain in this arc of your story has already sunken his teeth in your tender, unsullied flesh.
trash?
He sighs.
oikawa
It isn’t a surprise to Iwaizumi when summer break ends and Oikawa’s chestnut eyes start hunting for someone in the cafeteria during lunch. He doesn’t raise a brow when he hears that the second-year captain has been sneaking into Class 7, sometimes with flowers in his hands, and strolling out with a dazed look on his face. He slaps his teammates out of shock when Oikawa mentions his troubles with pursuing some girl–– but not before slapping himself first. Because the Oikawa he knows is not a chaser.
“Her name’s Y/N,” the brunet says, suddenly realising that he has never introduced any of his temporary interests to the team. But it’s been well over two months and he’s starting to think he’s been friend-zoned. Or worse. “I think she hates me.” He laughs melodically, then cocks his head in contemplation. “Is it weird that I kinda like that?”
Iwaizumi hides a satisfied smile behind a sip of water. Oikawa’s revelation has cleared the unease your name brought to his chest. Just a little. Perhaps he’d misread you. You have a bite of your own.
iii.
It’s routine for Oikawa to slink into Class 7 with a dazzling grin during morning break, but he’ll sometimes show up with flowers instead just to remind you that his affections, along with his modus operandi–– haven’t changed since he first started visiting you in September.
The girls in your homeroom have grown used to seeing the six-foot-tall volleyball captain hovering around your desk like a butterfly. Most treat him as part of the scenery nowadays. To them, Oikawa Tooru is no longer the mysterious, out-of-reach deity the rest of the school still paints him to be.
So when he strolls into class on a chilly January afternoon with your name a tune on his lips, they leave him be. Recently, the ladies of Seijoh have focused their attentions on some fellow on the swim team, anyway. Oikawa doesn’t feel as upset as he thinks he should about his shrinking fan club, but when his gaze finds yours already steady, expectant, utterly adoring on him, he understands why.
“For the lady,” he says like he does every time. A cluster of yellow flowers wrapped in brown kraft paper plop onto your desk. He pulls a chair up to your side, purposely ignoring, again, how two certain grooves in the wooden floor keep growing deeper with his visits.
You remember the first time he started bringing you flowers.
A posy of pink flowers sits awkwardly on your desk, untouched.
“I tell you I’d rather take your serve to my face than attend the bunkasai with you and your response is to give me weeds?” you reply with your chin in the palm of your hands, amusement blossoming over your features.
“Stop being a tease, Y/N-chan, they’re flowers,” he huffs, crossing his arms on your desk. “And I know you want to take them. The florist even said I have immaculate taste.”
“Really? Then what do these mean?”
Oikawa falters.
“Hmm?”
“Pink camellias,” he finally says, carefully enunciating the flower's name, “means that you’re a fucking tease. And that you should come to the bunkasai with me.” You snort and tell him to quit volleyball and join comedy club, feeling a strange warmth in your chest when he laughs.
The two of you fall into the same rhythm as always, talking a little bit about this and that, throwing in witty remarks where they belong, never passing up the chance to make fun of each other’s little idiosyncrasies. He’s enraptured by the way you string words together to describe the story behind your class’s bunkasai performance and all the gears in your brain whirr when he explains the strategy he’s using against the team Seijoh’s playing later that day.
When the bell rings, he reluctantly drags his chair back to the desk he stole it from. Just before he slinks back out the door, though, you tell him with a stern gaze that the Ushiwaka from Shiratorizawa he just spent the break shit-talking doesn’t hold a candle to Seijoh’s Grand King.
It’s like you had just stepped under a new light. Oikawa pauses in front of the doorway, trying to decipher what it is that’s different about you. And suddenly, the roses in his cheeks are in full bloom. Delighted and puzzled at his own realisation, he turns around without a second glance your way and strides back to Class 5. Oh, man, he muses as he passes through the emptying corridor. Oh, man. Iwa-chan is going to love this.
Your phone buzzes later that evening.
seijoh v. shiratorizawa 1-2, the text reads, quickly followed by, GAH.
Your lips twitch, though it doesn’t reach your eyes. Tapping your fingers against your phone screen for a response that’ll cheer him up, you suddenly remember a phrase Oikawa said earlier that day. It drew a laugh from you when it came out his contorted face. He was obviously still hung up over with the words of the opposing team’s ace. Hopefully, it makes him feel something else coming from you.
you should’ve come to shiratorizawa, you send, grinning.
His response is immediate.
l m f A O
what flowers would you like at your funeral?
And then you’re reminded of his petalled gift on your desk, now comfortably sitting in a glass vase at your bedside. Pink camellias, he said? Curious, you open your laptop and type in the name for its meaning.
Longing, you remember, watching your boyfriend chatter about something–– probably aliens–– animatedly. The yellow flowers on your desk, you realise, are ones you’ve never seen before.
“Oikawa, what’s the name of these?” you suddenly ask. He stops in the middle of his sentence (he was definitely talking about aliens, by the way), and grins smugly.
“Jonquils,” he says with a mischievous glint in his eyes, “spelt J-O-N-Q-U-I-L-S, means that your boyfriend’s going to colonise Mars one day. And if you’re lucky, you can be the first queen of Mars. How ‘bout that?”
It doesn’t mean what he says it does, by the way.
ii.
Splashes of pink and orange have already settled into the blue sky above when you step onto the rooftop of Seijoh’s humanities building. Despite the breeze that has swept through the air, the flame of curiosity in your stomach burns just enough for you to turn a cheek to the cold.
Come to the rooftop at 6 PM.
It’s 5:59. Impatient, you study the note in your hand again. Maybe you’ll be able to glean something from the laconic letter this time.
Much to your irritation, no one had seen the author of this note. They had expertly placed the unsigned card on your desk with a single rose and Hershey’s chocolate kiss on top during lunch. Elegantly scrawled, their seven words have had your brain running circles all day around their identity. Could it be…? No–– he seemed completely normal earlier today. Still, you can’t shake your suspicions. They borderline hope.
Who else…
You inhale the cool air deeply and lean back against the rooftop railing, eyes burning a hole into the metal entrance. The door swings open with a high-pitched groan. Your breath catches in your throat.
… if not him?
Time briefly stops when Oikawa Tooru steps through the entrance, still in his volleyball uniform, sweaty from practice, cheeks the same colour as the setting sun. There’s an unusually tentative look on his face, though it’s immediately wiped off and replaced with the realisation that this is real when he sees you slightly slack-jawed, blinking once, twice, three times before letting out a breath.
“You look surprised. Expecting someone else to confess today?” he asks, crossing his arms in front of his uniformed chest. Despite how his features are contorted by his poorly hidden jealousy, you can’t help but feel a flood of blood rush through your veins, lighting every inch of your skin on fire.
Because whether he knows it or not, Oikawa, the Grand King of the Court, prettiest boy in all of Miyagi, has skipped the table and placed his heart straight into your hands.
“Of course not,” you retort. “I just didn’t think you’d… well, do something like this.” And I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Iwaizumi’s words still find their way into your mind sometimes. I didn’t want origami made from my heartstrings.
Oikawa’s demeanour changes and his eyes dart away from your face. Shoving his hands into his windbreaker’s pockets, he admits, “I’ve honestly never done something like this before.” A faint blush spreads across his cheeks.
“Really? You’ve never stepped foot in the fourteenth shrine of Sendai?” you tease, referring to how Seijoh students have claimed this very rooftop as one of the God of Love’s many temples. You both know he holds the school record for the number of visits to this rooftop. At this rate, he could be one of its caretakers.
“That’s not what I meant,” he replies with a scowl, though the awkward tension between you two dissipates. And it feels like the two of you are back at your desk in Class 7, snickering uncontrollably while throwing playful jabs at each other. Sensing the change in atmosphere, Oikawa finally steps forward to join you by the railing.
Humming softly, he rests his elbows on the metal bar, props his head up with his hands, and sets his gaze on the lowering sun.
It’d be unfair to say that you didn’t at least try to enjoy the moment of peace with the boy beside you. But there’s a burning question on your mind that you can’t put off asking any longer.
“Why me?” you finally blurt out. “You could have any girl in this school. What made you choose me?”
The brunet whips his head around, disbelief written all over his face. “You think I chose to chase after the most annoying girl in all of Miyagi?” He laughs. “Ridiculous. I’d never willingly put myself through that unnecessary angst.”
You scoff and cross your arms.
“I think that when you like someone, it’s harder to explain why,” he quickly adds. “‘Cause it’s not supposed to make sense. I bet that the inability to explain your feelings is a prerequisite for true feelings, actually. It’s logical to say that you’d date Person A because they’re smart, or Person B because they’re hot, or Person C because they’re rich. But I’m pretty sure that that’s not… that’s not falling for someone. When you fall for someone… you just do. No logic required. You weren’t an option I ultimately settled on, Y/N. One day I just woke up and thought, if not you, then no one else.”
A beat passes. A flurry of words floods through your brain, only to evaporate when the devil on your shoulder decides that words aren’t quite adequate for what you want Oikawa to hear.
So instead, your feet take you one step closer into his space. Impulsively, your fingers find their way to his nape and your eyes flutter shut and suddenly–– suddenly, your parted lips brush against Oikawa’s. Instantly, he deepens the kiss, soft lips surging against yours like a pulse under pressure. You barely register his arms snaking around your waist, tighter and tighter until the space between your bodies is completely closed off.
Breathless, you finally detach your lips from his. Oikawa, who still has you encircled in his arms, pouts at the loss of contact, though he sulky façade only lasts a second before it gives way to a grin that stretches from ear to ear. He looks magnificent. Cheeks red, lips flushed, chest heaving, eyes wide with excitement. You want to kiss him again.
“One more.” It’s as if he read your mind. “To celebrate that last one.”
When Oikawa finally detaches himself from your lips, it’s to respond to the buzzing in his pocket. Noticing your raised brows, he explains that it’s an alarm for practice. The Spring High Prelims are just around the corner and he doesn’t plan on graduating without never having taken his team to Nationals.
“That’s my cue,” he states with a warm–– read: not apologetic–– smile. He doesn’t grab your hand or look imploringly into your eyes in hopes that you understand, never mind that you just shared your first kiss, never mind that you just became his girlfriend.
If Oikawa’s looking for any sign of your objection, he won’t find any. Instead, you step out of his space with an acquiescent nod. You knew what you were getting yourself into.
“Play well,” you say softly.
But before he heads for the creaky rooftop door, he presses one last kiss to your lips. And then he turns around, whistling as he goes, leaving you beaming behind his back with the light of a thousand suns.
iv.
When Matsukawa hands you the turquoise “Rule the Court” banner after the team lunch with a shit-eating grin on his face, the only resistance you offer is a resigned sigh.
“I’ve been dating Oikawa since we were second years,” you say flatly.
“Sorry, Y/N-san, but it’s the team’s hazing ritual,” he replies, not appearing sorry at all. “And you’re the only one who hasn’t done it.” He jerks his head at the blonde girl standing a little farther from the group with Hanamaki. “Emiko-san did it at the last game.”
“Plus, it’s the Spring High qualifier semifinals!” Kindaichi adds. “It’s an even bigger deal for you to do it now, especially since you had to miss our games on the first two days for school.” The team murmurs in agreement.
You shudder at the thought of your impending distress. Sit in the front row of the cheer squad and raise the banner with a scream every time your boyfriend serves? Fleeing from the Sendai City Gymnasium back home in an expensive taxi suddenly becomes very appealing.
Seeing the expectant and hopeful looks on the rest of the team’s faces, however, you begrudgingly place the banner in your backpack, signalling your acceptance of the horrible, cringe-worthy tradition.
“Where is Oikawa-san?” Kindaichi asks, rotating his turnip-shaped head around rapidly. “He was just at the team lunch. Iwaizumi-san’s missing too…”
Kunimi shrugs, pulling out his copy of the team schedule. He starts herding the team towards one of the courts. “Our game against Karasuno starts about an hour, so we should start warm-ups in around fifteen minutes.”
Worry creeps up your spine. For the past few days, all Oikawa has talked about is this match against his bratty kouhai’s team. And in the past two weeks leading up to today, you haven’t been able to even catch a glimpse of his face outside of break or lunch. To suddenly go missing before warm-ups doesn’t seem like Oikawa. You’re about to ask the team if he’s ever done this before, but your phone starts ringing a familiar tune and the question is set aside.
“Iwai––”
“Third-floor bathroom by the orange pillar. Come alone. Don’t tell anyone. Emergency.” Through his harsh and abrupt tone, you pick up traces of fear.
“What––”
“It’s Oikawa.” The call is cut before you can ask any more questions. Heart suddenly racing, you tell the team that your mother just called with questions about your new smart blender and excuse yourself to “explain what the manufacturers mean by salsify”. No one sees you bolt towards the nearest set of staircases with Oikawa the only thought on your mind.
There are very few things in this world that scare you. Stray hairs in the bathroom, the dark, essays longer than three pages… but the terror that short-circuits your brain when you find your boyfriend in the bathroom–– knuckles white around the sink, chest heaving violently, frenzied pupils surrounded by broken blood vessels–– trumps any fear you’ve faced before.
Iwaizumi stands helplessly beside him.
“Is he having a panic attack?” you question, still unable to move your feet. You’ve never seen Oikawa like this before. He’s the Grand King who hums while he walks, who spams your phone’s camera roll with peace-signs and funny faces, who winks and flirts and teases without regard. But watching the long-deified setter crumble like a measly human before you, you realise that Oikawa is also the guy who tore his meniscus from overexertion, who trades sleep to study his opponents play, who works his body to the bone just to stay a hairline above a certain Karasuno setter.
“A scout for the Schweiden Adlers said that Kageyama will soon surpass Oikawa in skill.” Iwaizumi explains how they had overheard the conversation lowly in your ear. “I got us into this bathroom just before he completely lost it. 5-4-3-2-1 isn’t working. And he won’t listen to a word I say.” What’s 5-4-3-2-1? Well, if it isn’t working then don’t focus on that right now.
Your eyes dart to Oikawa’s quivering body again. “I don’t know how to pull someone out of a panic attack.”
“The goal is to ground him. So use physical touch, make him feel something with texture, and get him to talk,” he responds instantly. Mechanically. Like he’s all-too-familiar with this set of instructions. A heaviness grows in the pit of your stomach when you realise what that means for Oikawa. And yet, from that very dread sprouts strength.
Slowly, you tread over to Oikawa and place a hand on his arm. His muscles tense under your touch but when you murmur over and over that it’s “Y/N, your girlfriend, the most annoying girl in Miyagi”, his fingers loosen ever-so-slightly from the metal basin. He lets you lead him to the bench by the door. He lets you drape the Seijoh banner over his shoulders like it’s armour and wrap your arms around his waist. He lets you press your cheek to his sweat-drenched back.
Get him to talk.
“Remember that quote you showed me from that interview of yours? What was it again?” you question softly.
No response.
“If you’re going to hit it, hit it until it breaks,” you say into his ear.
Through the mirror, you see his eyes widen with recognition. In the brief moment of lucidity that washes over Oikawa’s glistening face, you repeat the original question again, followed by his own quote.
Again and again.
And Oikawa finally says back.
“If you’re going to hit it, hit it until it breaks.” Focus re-enters his gaze. He blinks as if just waking from a spell.
“That’s right,” you say as firmly as possible. “So don’t you dare break first, Tooru.”
An unreadable blend of emotions scrawls itself over his features. While Oikawa washes his face with cold water, you remember rumination and resolve but can’t decipher the rest, giving up anyway when Iwaizumi pushes open the bathroom door. When the light washes over Oikawa, his face shows no signs of the episode he just had. It’s just like how the sky moves on after a storm, how the sun beams to say, “I’m here now. The rain has gone.”
But sometimes it still rains in spite of the sun.
A sunshower. It sounds so beautiful. But it’s wonderfully sad.
The three of you wordlessly make your way to the court where the rest of Seijoh is likely getting ready to warm up. What are you supposed to say after that? What can you say?
Once the smell of air salonpas and sweat finally greets your nose, Oikawa slips the Seijoh banner off his back and hands it over to you. Guessing that’s your cue to leave, you tell him to play well like you always do before starting to head for the upper deck. Softly, Oikawa asks you to wait.
“Stay for warm-ups,” he adds. “Please.”
From your spot behind the Seijoh divider, you carefully watch for any signs of another breakdown. To your relief, he goes the entire half-hour without a single crack in his disposition, exchanging laidback grins with the team, bantering with Iwaizumi. At one point he even has the audacity to taunt the Karasuno setter Tobio-chan, as Oikawa often says with a sneer.
Sunshowers, Y/N. Sunshowers.
Just before the referees call for the teams to line up at their ends of the court, Oikawa jogs over to you, eyes folding into thin crescents when he smiles.
He pulls the Seijoh banner out from your hands and gingerly cloaks it around your shoulders. Oikawa presses a quick kiss to your lips and murmurs, “Thank you.” Something in face tells you that it’s supposed to mean more than gratitude. Before you can read more into it, he turns back around and jogs to the line where his team awaits. Oikawa grins ferally.
Knowing that your luminous eyes are fixed to his back like his own set of wings, the monster crows on the other side suddenly look more like humans.
vi.
Oikawa isn’t surprised that his text is still unopened. At twenty-seven years old, he’s had his fair share of dead-ends when it comes to love. But he hadn’t expected radio silence from you of all people.
After closing all the tabs of Team Japan’s latest matches, he powers off his laptop and checks his phone again to reread what he wrote to your old number one last time. Still nothing. It’s highly probable you’ve changed phone numbers at least once in the last nine years, but the disappointment’s still there after he powers his phone off for the night. Tomorrow’s a big day and he’s not the same victim of self-destruction he had been in high school.
Or so he thinks, realising that texting the last person he loved the night before the 2021 Olympics volleyball finals might have been slightly irresponsible on his part. A thought arises in his head, though he quickly quashes it. Asking Iwaizumi to pass the message along would be a little overboard, wouldn’t it? Oikawa chuckles, imagining he response he’d get from his best friend (and Team Japan’s team trainer, that traitor).
“Go the fuck to sleep or I’ll put you to sleep, you dumbass simp,” he hears in Iwaizumi’s gruff voice.
He convinces himself that you’ll be there like you’ve always been. After all, he’s spent a lifetime with your pair of watchful eyes on his back. Satisfied, he drifts into a dreamless sleep.
The volume in the Ariake Arena is astronomical. Blood pounds against his ears as he sets the ball in the air, a monstrous grin carving into his face when his teammate José spikes the set straight down the net, drawing a wave of oohs and aahs from spectators on both sides.
Iwaizumi rolls his eyes at the flashy Team Argentina setter and finishes taping up Ushijima’s arm.
Oikawa turns haughtily towards the opposite team, gaze zeroing in on Team Japan’s raven-haired setter and the shrimpy ginger beside him. It’s been a while since he last saw them this close in person–– the chance encounter with Hinata in Brazil happened well over three years ago and he hadn’t had the time earlier in the tournament to say hello. Of course they’re the final boss in this arc, he muses, though the thought is void of vexation. Instead, begrudging pride blossoms in his chest. Truthfully, he had expected nothing less from his kouhai.
And he expects nothing less than finally tasting the ambrosia of victory against that monster–– no, an entire generation of monsters–– today. Monsters who happen to be the kids he grew up beside.
He wonders what you’d say at the sight of Japan’s greatest players all gathered on one court. On instinct, his eyes dive into the bleachers, searching for your face. Knowing he’s not likely to find you like this, he tsks, deciding to look for Iwaizumi instead. Maybe he knows where you are.
The referees signal for both teams to line up at their ends of the court. As he steps onto the white boundary line, he notices Iwaizumi’s gaze transfixed on someone in the upper deck on Team Argentina’s side. The neutral expression on his face morphs into shock, then recognition. And then he glances at Oikawa.
The latter’s brows furrow before everything clicks in place.
Who else…
All your memories together hit him at full force–– your face shimmering with tears in front of gate twelve in Haneda Airport, the feeling of your shallow breaths against his neck, the savvy lilt to your voice as you speak.
… if not her?
For the first time in his life, Oikawa Tooru looks behind his shoulder.
And there you are, leaning against the railing with the old Seijoh flag draped over your shoulders, a tender, splendid smile on your lips.
“Play well,” you mouth.
And Oikawa feels the sun rise back into his hands.
