I know Heimerdinger's Christian Linke's favorite character, and I sort of tolerated it in s1, but now it feels like things are a little too indulgent. Heimerdinger gets to team up with Ekko to launder his reputation through Ekko and the Firelights. Heimerdinger gets the first narrative game and second character teaser in the promotional cycl. Heimerdinger gets to SING A SONG that's included on the s2 Arcane soundtrack (Spin the Wheel).

Maybe I'd be less annoyed if the show at least did more to acknowledge Heimerdinger's failings as a leader, but his character description can't even do that. This is how the official Arcane website describes Heimerdinger:

"Heimerdinger warned the Piltover Council about the dangers of using magic without tangible solutions for safeguarding its use. Learning from his mistakes with Jayce, Heimerdinger inspires Ekko to keep looking for a solution and works with him to solve the problem, instead of just offering advice."

That's not Heimerdinger's main problem! The problem is the fact he's the person most singularly responsible for the state of Zaun and Piltover. It feels like the show and the cast are just dancing around the fact that Heimerdinger technically has the highest body count in the show (Day of Ash, pollution, extreme poverty, etc). The one time someone puts him to task (Jayce), the show makes it seem like Jayce is wrong or overstepped, and yeah he did do it for Viktor's sake, but Jayce was right! Heimerdinger's bad at his job, he shouldn't be in a leadership position if he's a bad leader.

Well, you know, it's the usual Leojami age difference discourse. I just delete those comments anyway, but I'm glad you like the N2 squad :3

I won't develop too much since I don't want this blog to be about discourse (I'm giving my opinions plenty on my sideblog) but here's what I think about these topics:

-I'm vehemently anti-censorship. I don't think something shouldn't ever exist and I will never push for something to be censored, even if it's stuff that makes me uncomfortable. I think warnings about particular contents are great, but in the end it's my responsibility to curate my experience with banning # and blocking people, etc etc. Even illegal stuff should be portrayed. If people can draw/write about murderers and conmen without a fuss, then they can also do that about taboo/illegal sexual topics. Depiction is not endorsement.

-I believe the reader/viewer is the one who injects meaning to art/stories. I'm an artist and all the things I do mean something, but that meaning doesn't prevail over the meaning my viewers inject in my art. I regularly see people "misreading" my comics in the tags, but it doesn't matter. Their interpretation is just as valid as mine, and if they wanna see ships where I didn't mean to draw ships, or if they interpret a scene as negative when I meant for it to be positive, then it's either my role as the content creator to be more explicit/obvious with what I meant, or to simply let my viewers have fun however they want with my stuff. I don't believe in the "there's only one valid interpretation and everybody who thinks otherwise is wrong".

(That's also why I don't really believe in DNI. People you disagree with will interact with your stuff anyway, caring about those things will just anger and tire you for nothing. I try to avoid interacting with people who have DNI that probably include me? But considering "proship" means anything and nothing it's hard to tell whether N2/LeoJami is considered a proship or not.)

Tldr: I'm anti-censorship and I think everybody should make and enjoy the content they want, even if it's topics that are usually frowned upon. Imagination is the one place one should be able to go hogwild without fearing retribution.

Saw an especially brain-dead take on FB earlier (basically it boiled down to "Jesus never specifically said abortion was bad so Christians shouldn't assume that it is") and could not help responding. I've had two responses so far that were full of the usual misinformation and fear-mongering ("women will DIE without abortions and doctors will GO TO JAIL for treating miscarriages which are totally the same thing as abortions!!!"). And one of them completely ignored the fact that I was addressing the "tell me you've never read the Bible without telling me you've never read the Bible" aspect of the meme in question. Like, you're free to disagree with Jesus' position on something, but don't misrepresent it.

hi sorry idk if this is rude to ask but a few post ago in a hashtag you mentioned possibly talking about why you haven’t updated changing currents or a cat by any other name in so long and would it be rude to ask for a follow up on that? those are two of my absolute favorite fics of yours that have me foaming at the mouth and i’m kind of curious about what’s going on with them, no pressure of course just curious

Ope, no, in this case it's not rude. I meant to make a proper post about it, but then I got distracted with the Guard Dog update and starting to plan Monsterfucking Kinktober. 

So for Changing Currents, my main concern is that because it's so heavily inspired by the dystopian genre, I got really in my head worrying about what people would say when that series doesn't end with some kind of revolution or anything like that. I was definitely going for something more akin to The Giver than Divergent, if you get my meaning. I got really worried that people would be disappointed if the story didn't end with some huge action-packed climax, and I psyched myself out of working on it, because that's not the story I was ever planning on telling. I also have some other plot points that I think are going to be controversial and that go against a lot of the things that people have been predicting, which also developed into me worrying about expectations. I'm planning on the rest of the story being covered in two more chapters, and I have the full outline for it as well as an outline for adapting the story into a non-fanfic book, but I just haven't been able to get out of my head enough to touch it again. 

For ACBAON, it comes down to something similar. The next chapter is going to be the final one, and I have the whole thing outlined, but I keep hesitating working on it because I know that people are going to look at the ending and want more of the story. But I know how I want it to end, and I never want a story to be continued just for the sake of it. I also don't think that every story should end with the characters having reached a perfect stasis, I want it to feel like they're going to go on with their lives, but that this is the point were we waved goodbye and trusted them to move on without us. 

But those are all my personal hang-ups and things I've gotta work through at my own pace. Those stories have been stressing me out, and since I write for fun, I've just been letting them stew, writing a few hundred words here and there when I feel okay about them. I will complete both of those stories in my own time, but until I find a way to make them something that makes me happy again, they're essentially on hiatus.

Like I get encouraging her to use her skills where she can and all that, but there is a difference between that and just letting her build shrapnel bombs unchecked which is what they were doing

And yeah they live in a rough place and yeah her bombs had never managed to work before, but their response to that really probably should have been more along the lines of "What is something else you could make that would fulfill a similar purpose but won't horribly kill or maim people?" Because really the results were inevitable otherwise

Like for one, she often stood pretty close to these items (bombs filled with nails to be clear) so she risked hurting herself along with her target, but also there was the danger of setting it off on someone near the others (or even if they weren't nearby when it was originally activated what was to prevent them from coming along at the precise wrong moment?) and again there is the issue that generally speaking you shouldn't be causing a bunch of nail shrapnel to go into people, and that doing so could have seen her end up in Stillwater

Discouraging from doing any inventing would obviously be the wrong choice too as it was her strength and really was an area that despite her failures still brought her some confidence, so really they should have been pushing her to still make things but to find things with non-lethal results and really Vander with his history should have seen and known that on top of being the parent of the situation and if he had explained to Vi and the others they likely would have understood the logic behind it too

Instead they were letting a 7-8 year old girl play with things that were much too dangerous and it had deadly consequences, in the way it was ALWAYS going to have deadly consequences, it's just they likely assumed those deaths would be someone they didn't know or like not their family

I love Mike and Dustin, no questions asked but them not attending Lucas' game and choosing Erica, Lucas' sister, as a sub for the campaign was a really messed up thing to do, I'm sorry.

It's the way Lucas was so happy that he's finally getting appreciated like he wanted to and his friends just not being there even when he so dearly asked them to, and worst of all it's the way his smile drops after seeing the group cheering on their win without him, but with his sister that gets me everytime. Like he was so happy and then the people who he was supposed to share his happiness with just weren't there, that sucks man!

They didn't even try their best to convince Eddie even when Lucas requested them to come to his game. It's not just the championship game, he wanted to join Eddie's campaign too but he had to move on with a 'it is what it is' sorta thing

IF they do the whole confession scene right, I can absolutely see hot priest asking for specifics on what eddie and kim actually did, like confession isn't therapy, a priest when actually focused on helping you through confession will ask and will pry until you can actually name "the sin" that's causing you to need confession... so I do see a possibility of the priest digging deep enough until eddie gets to the root of the whole situation

Do you have an idea on the ending what it might be with Black Butler or Blue Exorcist?

Blue Exorcist: On a thematic/moral of the story level I definitely think something along the lines of LIVING, as opposed to giving up. I think on some level this sentiment is going to apply to the demons in the story, though I have no specific prediction/guess on how and what that's going to entail ending-wise.

On a literal "what will happen" level I assume some sort of form of "defeating" Satan in a way that was different than what they were trying, which was to literally and physically defeat him. He doesn't want to lose his physical form because he'll lose the ability to experience things, and he was triggered into having memories of Yuri and then sealed himself off (basically he emotionally shut down) and started draining the land around him. So they'll have to find some other way to defeat him, which as pictured above, Rin made the first attempt at doing so. He'll have to try again, and Yukio will probably be involved since he's ALSO Satan's son, and Satan's most recent emotional experience was directly tied to memories of their mother. It'd be weird if Yukio wasn't involved for the final attempt.

I have no specific expectations or hopes other than just hoping there is some cathartic payoff with Satan and his two boys. And maybe seeing Yuri in some form or fashion again. I'm pretty excited, especially because I'm not sure there's a way the manga could irreparably disappoint me aside from killing everyone off which I see no reason for happening lol.

I hope I don't regret saying this but I do trust Kato. She has no qualms about taking breaks or hiatuses and her manga has been consistently solid over the 15 years it's been running and I've not seen a single dip in quality or integrity, so.

Black Butler: On the Sebastian/Ciel front I expect Ciel to be fine and not get his soul eaten. Lol. Not sure how or why Sebastian would let that slide, but that's what I expect. On the twin front I expect Alive Ciel and Dead Ciel to find closure together and maybe for Alive Ciel to be able to properly say goodbye to Dead Ciel, and for Undertaker to be defeated (however that looks--I don't particularly want him to die and don't really expect him to since he's a shinigami). My only specific hope for Black Butler is that the Phantomfam stays together along with Soma (in some way). Really really unsure of what lies in store for Sebastian, but given that he's a demon I'm not particularly worried.

I have no specific expectations for Black Butler, but I'll say the manga is REALLY amazing, and it's been written across the span of 17 years, also without a single dip in quality or integrity, so I also trust Toboso. She ALSO literally just went on hiatus, so she is taking her time and not rushing to end her story (it's nowhere near over anyway), which is a good thing.

Of course, I have been burned in the past. Lmao. Twice recently, actually. But if these manga can go longer than 10 years without a single drop in quality and the story telling not once having taken a beating, I feel my trust is a little more justified.

Also, on a slightly less serious note (but still serious to an extent) I have not once been burned by a manga written by a woman (that I have read). Let that be known lol. Something I seriously consider as I remain attached to D.Gray-Man, Black Butler, Blue Exorcist, and become attached to Daemons of the Shadow Realm.
