Writing in Greece existed during the Bronze Age in the form of Linear B (and other systems such as Linear A on Minoan Crete), but after the subsequent collapse of Bronze Age civilization, the system disappeared from Greece.

The first mention of Homer as the author of both poems comes from comes from 520 BCE, a century or more after the poems were created. Prior to this, there was much debate even in ancient times as to the poems' origins, some citing different authors, others saying the creators were anonymous.

NARRATION: Although he might not look it, the Prince is quite the avid reader.

NARRATION: Stuck in the Underworld, it's the only way he learns about the heroes of old. He particularly likes the Iliad and the Odyssey.

ZAGREUS: To create such a work, Homer must be a poet to rival Orpheus!

HERMES: Actually did you know Homer might have never existed?

ZAGREUS: Huh?

NARRATION (HERMES): Before the Phoenician alphabet came to Greece (~8th century BC), all the tales were sung by oral poets! They were the ones passing the story down.

NARRATION (HERMES): When the Iliad and Odyssey were written down, those writers certainly used the work of the poets before them. Scholars even believe the two epics were written at different times by different people!

HERMES: So you see, it really was the work of generations that made these poems. (Also there is no record of a man named Homer.)

ZAGREUS: You're a sly guy, putting your name on so many people's work...

(IN-GAME) NARRATOR: Stop looking at me like that!

"You're so mean." Mc sluggishly slurred their words.

Lucifer sighed as he tucked them into her. Asmo had invited Mc to go clubbing with him, however one of the clubs had human world alcohol, and Mc had proceeded to get wasted.

"how am I mean to you Mc?" Lucifer smiled as he decided to indulge the drunken human.

"I'm going to die some day .... and I wasn't that important in your immortal life .... But you consumed most of my life! .... You're so meaaaaaan! I love you so much Luci!" They slurred together.

Lucifer stopped, their words cutting deep into his heart. He dropped their blankets from his hands and enveloped Mc tightly in his hold. His breath becoming ragged as he tried to keep his emotions in check

Mc wouldn't remember this moment ... But Lucifer would, their words weighing heavy on his every action.

Your fears that you don't have a body that will transition "well" are, sure, understandable, but there isn't truly such thing as a body that's unworthy of transition. Perhaps your changing body won't suit everybody's taste, but would you rather live for yourself or for the whims of random people who don't care about your happiness as long as they're attracted to what they see?

Transition is for anybody who wants it. It's okay to be fearful. It's okay to be uncertain. But it isn't the end of the world. You are in control, and if you choose to transition to any capacity, it should be at your behest. You and your body are worthy of transition. I hope you are able to seize transition and do what you truly want for yourself.

OP Age Comparator

Hello OP writers! Have you ever wondered, "how old was this character when X happened?" or had to do the maths on the ages of a cast of characters at a specific point in time?

Would you like to simplify that process to a mere few clicks?

I have created a google sheet which contains the data of the 432 characters with canon ages*, allowing you to compare any set of up to ten people at once!

*I might be missing some minor characters who had their ages shared, but all the major ones should be available.

How it works is quite simple:

Use the dropdowns in columns E, H, K and cell M2, as needed. These only contain the letters of the alphabet

Use the other dropdown to select the character you want. This dropdown will only list characters whose name starts with the letter picked in the first dropdown

That's it!

Column A lists "years from current canon" (as of August 2024, in case Oda blindsides us with another timeskip lol)

Column B lists some major events that happened that year, up to 38 years before canon. For more events check out the World Timeline on the wiki

Column C lists the in-universe year

The link provided above (and also here) only allows for using dropdowns. Please feel free to copy the entire sheet into your own drive if this is something you would find useful!

If there are any errors you find, or something runs wrong, please do let me know and I'll fix it ASAP!

I cannot guarantee the sheet could run in excel or anyplace outside of google sheets. I can guarantee the sheet won't run if you only copy the visible tab or its contents alone xD

okay listen i was sitting on this for a bit and then i FINALLY got to do a hike today and while i was walking i stopped in the middle of the path because what if needle does the same for cody?

like. okay. bear with me. helix is trying to figure out why the hell his general's file is redacted to hell and back. he tasks needle with going through the rest of the personnel files for any issues that might need further attention. neither of them are expecting anything- issues that needed further attention didn't usually-

well.

anyway, needle's a good medic and understands the necessity for thorough documentation, so he's going through these files only to stop short when he pulls up the commander's and sees that same little status indicator.

he refreshes the page. maybe it's a lag. maybe that field accidentally subbed in a result from another trooper.

three refreshes later, he stops.

he doesn't give himself time to think about it. he just- deletes it. wipes away the little status tag and everything it signifies, and then he puts his head between his knees and kicks at the uncomfortable simmering in his chest until it dulls enough that he can ignore it.

(he makes sure to take cody's case whenever he comes into the medbay, though. especially if there's a head injury. he knows there can be scarring.)
