tbh i think one of the best fics i've ever written was the one of gabrielle and perdicus's wedding night but nobody read it bc it wasn't explicitly x/g. it was x/g though. listen to me. i will never not write x/g when im writing xwp fic. there may be flavors of other pairings but in the end we know who the soulmates are. gaphrodite rules tho

your xwp reblogs has me feeling feels - what was your favorite arcs/episodes?
Oh man... it's been probably a decade since I rewatched the entire show but I do remember my all time favorite episode is One Against an Army from season 3. Mainly because that is one of the very first episodes I remember seeing on TV growing up, and later as one of the best (to me) OTP episodes following the "partner is injured/dying and other partner fights desperately to save them" theme. I love season 3 overall the most? I think? The Ides of March, though sad and traumatizing, is a great episode. Okay but also When Fates Collide in season 6. Uh. A Tale of Two Muses tho. Also The Bitter Suite. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun for Ancient Greek Vampires! The Quest, also because it (or maybe the following episode??) has one of the funniest bloopers of Lucy Lawless hucking the ambrosia prop and hitting the camera. And while I love the general over-all vibes of season one I really liked the finale episode Is There a Doctor in the House?. I need to rewatch now dangit.
It's actually really hard for me to choose a favorite arc over all but for characters: for Gabrielle I really enjoyed her character arc struggling though living by the Way of Love in season 3, as well as her later struggle becoming more of a warrior and learning that her gift as a bard was just as important-if not more so. I also enjoyed Xena's arc around her son Solan. Though sad, it was a great window into who she is as a character. I'm still somewhat frustrated with the conclusion of her character and the slow sad resolve of the last season BUT. I understand why they brought her back to the beginning of her story and it really was a well thought out and reasonable arc to her character. It showed the completion of her growth and self-actualization that I miss seeing in other media. That might be my favorite arc for Xena.
In conclusion: i love my campy dramatic moms.
#ask me stuff!#xena warrior princess#xena and gabrielle#i needed to cut myself off bc now im sad i have to keep working and not go home and watch xena#.....and i wanna write another fic for them dammit#ugh#maybe i'll take one of my dar and kerry books to the beach with me this fall#and now im remembering that awesome fan edit song someone made to ruslana's wild dances

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these- well over a month, I think. Oops. Well, first off, I have finished the Belle Mirrorverse book; it was darker than I expected but I think it did a good job of putting a new twist on the 1991 film.
I’ll probably read my library books next, although for Reasons I’m going to wait until the 25th to read Night Watch. Lately, I’ve also been using the library to skim the ER TV series (AKA only watching the special features because I’m a wuss). I’ve taken a handful of screencaps that I might end up posting here.
Confession time: I skipped an episode of the new ATLA show because I’d heard about the changes to Bumi’s characterization and I did not want to see it. Which was extra frustrating because I like Utkarsh Ambudkar from his role on CBS Ghosts and I think he would have been great as a more cartoon-faithful version of Bumi. So I’ve scheduled a weekly Jay post for this summer. Back to the new ATLA show: it was a mixed bag for me but I will probably watch the next seasons.
While I have no plans to watch Bridgerton, I clearly have not been immune to the pretty gifsets, especially when they feature Simone Ashley’s character. Similarly, I’ve enjoyed some fan content of The Owl House but right now my media backlog is big enough I’m not likely to get around to it any time soon.
Movie-wise, I rewatched Love & Friendship on the 4th and BATB 2022 on the 5th. Because I needed some comfort movie content. I ought to watch some movies I haven’t seen, like The Mummy, Sense & Sensibility 2024, or Chess in Concert. Hopefully I’ll have made the time to watch them by the end of the summer.
I’m still greatly enjoying Static Shock, Leverage, and The Librarians. They’re all fun shows with great characters and interesting storylines. My posting priority has been Static Shock, but I might end up posting more The Librarians content over the summer. Side note: I’ve learned that ER actor Eriq La Salle directed an episode of The Librarians so that’ll be fun when I reach season 4.
There’s been quite a bit of overlap between Leverage, The Librarians, and Star Trek so far, with more on the way. I know Jeri Ryan is about to be a reoccurring character on Leverage, for example. There’s also some XWP overlap, which would be surprising given that XWP was filmed on the other side of the Pacific except I’ve already seen overlap between Disney-era Power Rangers & Stargate.
On the other hand, I’m not really into ST TNG despite being at the start of the third season. I guess I’m primarily a ST DS9 fan. I don’t know why the show isn’t clicking for me, but it isn’t. Maybe it’s just that I’m more into the other 3 shows and I don’t have the bandwidth for a fourth? I feel bad because I know it’s an important show to a lot of people but it’s looking like I’m not going to be one of them at this point. It’s extra frustrating because I do like the characters but the show as a whole just isn’t gelling for me and I don’t understand why.
With its upcoming 20th anniversary, I’ll probably schedule a daily SGA post throughout July. I might similarly get Power Rangers off my back burner for August. Part of me does want to check out the newer seasons, but my to-watch pile is massive enough without adding them. Especially since the end of August will see the return of The Rings of Power.
I think I need to do these posts more regularly, otherwise they end up sprawling like this. This spring has been a Lot, though. Hopefully everyone’s summer will be calmer.

1-7!
if you could reboot one TV show, which one would it be?
Xena: Warrior Princess, for a one-season limited series revival where Xena (still played by Lucy Lawless, of course) is no longer dead and she and Gabrielle (still played by Renee O’Connor, of course) just have some adventures and are married and epically romantic for like 6-10 episodes. My soul really needs that one in a fundamental way. The ending of XWP is Not Good.
if you could have saved one TV show from cancellation, which one would it be?
Aw mannnn! So many to choose from! I think Dollhouse. I would have loved to see what the story would have been like with a bit more room to grow and more opportunities for Adelle DeWitt and Laurence Dominic to make out.
Also, SELFIE. I am eternally haunted by not getting to watch Henry and Eliza fall in love for five seasons.
have you ever quit a show before it finished? why?
I tend to stick with shows more devotedly than most (I still watch Modern Family every week, by God!), but certainly I have left some in the dust! I lost track of shows like House and Bones mostly just because the case-of-the-week format often wearies me. I stopped watching Glee when I was watching the season three finale live on TV and kept switching between it and Shallow Hal and realized I would rather be watching Shallow Hal. That was a rough one. I also stopped watching Jane the Virgin despite loving the show a ton because the Michael thing just made me too sad and I couldn’t go on.
I also, hilariously, watched Supernatural for like a hot minute in 2009 because my roomie and I were super into the Dean/Cas gaziness of it all. I gave up on that real quick.
are there any shows you wish could just be cancelled already?
Actually: Supernatural. I have no idea what it has become, but I know they’re not going to let Dean and Cas kiss each other’s beautiful faces, so what! is! the! point! of its continued existence?? Also, it just disturbs me that any show might go on for that long.
what’s your comfort show?
Gilmore Girls. Which is also, ironically, the show that has left a legacy of discomfort in my soul. I also super love The Office, Boy Meets World, and Anne with an E in a comfort rewatch capacity.
which shows do you think are underrated and need more love?
To throw out some random faves: A.P. Bio (Hulu), Good Girls (Netflix and Hulu), Catastrophe (Amazon Prime), Kim’s Convenience (Netflix), GOOD BEHAVIOR (Hulu).
have you ever been inspired to start a new show based on gifs or memes it has produced?
I am sure I have, though I can’t think of any examples off the top of my head! I think I miiiight have started watching Schitt’s Creek because random stuff was just beginning to pop up from it on Tumblr around the time that the third season was airing and I was like, “What is this intriguing festival of weirdness and black and white clothing?”

First of all, Simon Prast is lovely on both When Love Comes and in Serial Killers.
Second, I did a double take when I thought I saw Giles in the screenshot from Go Girls. 😂
Thirdly, I fully support HTLJ rewatches! More campy fun for everyone! I do my best to ignore Kevin Sorbo irl, because he does give off a bad vibe, but I don’t let that soil my image of Hercules the character.
@feeweeeee I wasn’t a huge fan of YH when it aired either... 😬 I liked it okay, but I thought it was a bit too silly... Mainly because I wanted everyone to take HTLJ and XWP seriously and not dismiss it as just goofy shows, and YH didn’t really improve that reputation.
I wanted the YH series to be more like the flashback episodes in HTLJ. I mean just look at him with his serious face and even a scar on his cheek.
But with the years I’ve come to fully embrace the silliness of all three shows. I love it! 💛 YH especially is just adorable goofy fun; like a live action cartoon.
I guess it helps that when you are older you stop caring so much what other people think and don’t feel the need to be able to justify what you enjoy.
DFP Actors August: Simon Prast
NZ actors tend to end up in a lot of the same shows over the years it seems. I have a lot of fun spotting familiar faces, so I thought this would be a fun and silly little project, seeing which actors have repeatedly been in things that Deano was also in (not necessarily alongside). Just a bit of trivia. Enjoy!
Shortland Street (1996/1995-1996)
Dean played Nurse Harry Martin in 1996. Simon played Nurse Paul Churchill in 1995-1996.
Once again I don't have any stills of the other person on Shortland Street. Ugh, sorry. If anyone has any I'll update this!
Xena: Warrior Princess (1996,2000/1995)
Dean played two roles: Homer/Orion - S1E13 “Athens City Academy of the Performing Bards” Wiglaf - S6E9 “Return of the Valkyrie”
Simon played Nemos - S1E4 "Cradle of Hope"
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995-1998/1995-1996)
Dean played a few different characters on this show: Iloran - S1E12 “The Gauntlet” Young Iolaus - S4E3 “Regrets… I’ve Had a Few”, S4E11 “Medea Culpa” and S4E20 “Twilight”. Ruun - S4E7 “Prodigal Sister”
Simon played two roles: First Soldier - S2E3 "What's in a Name?" Patronius - S2E21 "The Wedding of Alcmene"
When Love Comes (1998)
Dean played Mark, a young man who is mixed up with some people who don't take very good care of him, doing what he needs to get by. He also writes poetry/lyrics. Simon played Stephen, Mark's (slightly older) lover. Their relationship is complicated but ultimately seems to be on a healthier track by the end of the movie.
Ahh, I felt weirdly nostalgic pulling stills for this one. I think I need to rewatch it soon. They're both so young!
Serial Killers (2004)
Dean played Andrew, the actor for "Dr. Gilligan" on the in-universe soap opera ‘Heart of Hearts’ in all 7 episodes. Simon played Patrick, the actor for "Dr. Harrington" on the in-universe soap opera 'Heart of Hearts' in all 7 episodes.
These two are both hilarious on this show.
Go Girls (2009/2010-2011)
Dean plays Marco in 2 episodes, S1E2 & S1E11. Simon played Jeffrey Duff in 10 episodes, S2E3-S3E4.
Hillary (2016)
Dean played George Lowe (in all 6 episodes). Simon played "Society Chairman" in episode 2 "Louise".
The Brokenwood Mysteries (2018/2022)
Dean played Barnaby Buchanan in S5E4 "The Dark Angel". Simon played Gordon Godley in S8E1 "From the Cradle to the Grave" (the same episode Joel Tobeck is in!).
Both of their episodes were written by Tim Balme!
Under the Vines (2022)
Dean played Griffin in 5 out of the 6 episodes in S1. Simon played Rupert Shaw in episode 6.
If I am remembering correctly, Rupert comes to the vineyard after giving it a glowing review because of some arm twisting from Griffin...?
-
"The other Simon". I gotta say Simon Mead was originally "the other Simon" to me but now I'm not sure, haha.
That's all I have on these two - did I miss anything?

So… it’s bleak/awkward that I switched from a mostly MMPR icon shortly before Jason David Frank’s death, even if mine was Billy & Kimberly rather than Tommy. I have reworked my plans for next August because it’ll need to be more muted rather originally planned and I included more Tommy-centric episodes in my planned rewatch list to honor him. There’ll still be plenty of Power Rangers content next year, fair warning.
I have heard the news about Ash’s imminent departure from the Pokémon anime. On the one hand, yeah Ash has been achieving his goals and therefore the narrative push isn’t the same. On the other, I am concerned about how the change will be handled.
It won’t be a problem for me as I’m still watching the Alola era, followed by Orange Islands, Johto, & Hoenn.
I’m still loving DS9 obviously, so that project will be continuing! Same with the SGA rewatch! XWP continues to be more of a mixed bag for me but I’m still watching. I’ve read the first eight volumes of Spy x Family now, which was fun.
It was on-and-off but I did finish Andor. I get the criticism about everyone seeming cold and/or lacking agency, but I got the sense that was on purpose to showcase what the GFFA was like during the Empire. Diego Luna was outstanding and I’m likely to watch the second season whenever it airs.
However, I was mostly confused by the first two Willow episodes. Yes, we the viewers know that Sorsha switched sides but it’s odd that they let her apparently inherit a throne?? Also the whole ‘royal parents married for love but their kids must do diplomatic ones’ thing was handled in a clearer manner by the later Tortall books.
The Beauty and the Beast special was delightful in my eyes; honestly I think I might prefer it to the 2017 film although some of that might be the 2022 special including 1991 footage. And I’m just generally weak for this story, I know & accept that about myself. ^-^
I’ve now obtained Stitch in Dreamlight Valley so that’s very exciting. No Belle yet, also I remain adamant that Milo and/or Kida needs to show up. I’ll (very) grudgingly accept no supporting cast but come on! The game is already using the Atlantean alphabet & architecture, don’t tease me like this!
Lastly, there’ll probably be another big photo post where I stress out about my ever-growing backlog/hoard of media. For example, I recently treated myself to the first season of Static Shock and am seriously debating on when to get the others. Because let’s face it, it’s not an if.
#my ramblings#power rangers#Pokémon#and many more#listen the rest aren’t talked about quite enough to justify tagging them

… It’s been a while, oops? First off, I have changed my avatar to include my Lugia plush. Hopefully the change won’t throw anyone off, especially as I kept Billy & Kimberly in it.
I just finished the second season of Sun & Moon, and I’m really excited for what’s to come next! After that, I’ll be backtracking to watch some earlier seasons. While I have seen a lot of Journeys, I doubt I’ll do any actual reviews.
Obviously, I really liked the first 2 Kenobi episodes and hopefully I’ll like the third when I see it.
The third TOS season hasn’t been too bad yet, outside of the usual ‘oof this is the 60s’ moments. At this point I don’t know if I’m experiencing the opposite of hype backlash or if the season will slide downhill. Well, I already know I’ll be very exasperated by the finale, so besides that. I’m definitely looking forward to watching DS9 next, though.
Just one episode left in XWP’s 2nd season for me to watch. It looks like it’ll end strong, as I really liked “ Lost Mariner” and I know Cupid returns in the finale.
In contrast, I’m pretty whelmed by ALOK. I’m really trying not to compare it to ATLA, but I think between the crew trying not to be repetitive, them actually trying for a Water/Fire belligerent romantic tension dynamic (I swear they do best with non-spotlighted pairings), and all the executive meddling… it got rushed and not as planned out as ATLA. I like the characters & the animation, but the plot is askew, which negatively impacts everything else, most notably the world building.
I’m getting behind on the mini SG-1 watch, so I need to fix that. Especially as I’m not letting myself do a SGA rewatch of any kind until I finish that project. Though I do want to do something special next month for SG-1’s 25th anniversary.
Sometime this summer I should start up the 2nd season of Arrow, given the series’ upcoming 10th anniversary. I do feel a bit bad now that my LOT watch will be starting after the show’s end, as I’ve been sitting on that project for a while. No clue when I’ll go back to The Flash. Similarly, it’ll probably be a while before I resume OUAT, and I suspect I really will end talking mostly about the costumes rather than untangling the storylines.
The 2008 Sense & Sensibility miniseries and the Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century cartoon are most likely to be added to the rotation next.

I got my second shot on Monday, so that’s exciting. Tuesday was mostly spent on a mini-binge of Ultra Legends for three reasons. 1: I didn’t feel well enough to watch anything closely enough for later reviewing. 2: To check that the three DVD sets were all working. 3: To stay awake, which admittedly ties into the first reason.
Ultra Adventures has been pretty laidback so far, which I’m enjoying as I really love this in-depth look at day-to-day life in the Alola region. But I’m very excited for the Ultra Wormhole subplot! :D
For May the Fourth, I saw TCW’s “Revival” and some of Droid Tales. I’ve since seen “Eminence” & “Shades of Reason”. So that just leaves “The Lawless” to watch. Uh-oh.
Three episodes into Princess Tutu, and I’m really enjoying it. The upcoming reviews on my blog will be short because I’m struggling what else to say beyond that. Especially since I don’t know much about ballet.
Just 15 episodes left in PRLG (aah). Andros & Leo got most of the spotlight in “To the Tenth Power”. That wasn’t unexpected but it was still mildly irritating. The title apparently leaves out Mike despite him appearing in it. I really need to do justice to the next episode’s review, given its contents, but first I need to watch it.
I’ve started the fifth & final season of BBC Merlin. My mixed feelings continue, which aren’t fun so I’m putting The Flash on the back burner as a result. Arrow’s 2nd season will get reviewed next autumn for the show’s tenth anniversary. I don’t know when LOT will be watched but I do want to get around to it.
I still need to get back to XWP as well as start reviewing ST: TOS and OUAT. The issues are that XWP’s 1st season finale freaked me out, I’m nervous with TOS’s iconic status, and I am well aware of OUAT’s uneven quality even in the better seasons. But I really want to get a buffer of posts over the summer, so I need to get over my hang ups.
Because I do want to watch all three shows. I like XWP’s characters and it’s ‘everything & the kitchen sink’ take on things; there’s a lot of fun in OUAT’s first 2 seasons (and so many gorgeous outfits); and I want to see TOS for the first time as I’m sure it’ll explain a lot about later sci-fi.
Furthermore, I have obtained the first 3 seasons of DS9 to watch as well. With my track record, those reviews will probably start in January for its 29th anniversary. If I enjoy them, I’ll look into getting the later seasons.
Now that I’m done with Traders (it got rather soap opera-y at the end), I want to see Legend since it stars Richard Dean Anderson & John de Lancie. Weirdly, with Traders, I think Patrick McKenna’s character was my favorite since he was by far the most energetic character. And he did get more screen time than Hewlett’s character.
There are also several films to want to see, one for the first time (Ever After) and others for a rewatch: Atlantis the Lost Empire, Barbie as Rapunzel, 1991’s Beauty and the Beast, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. In the overlap, I want to see the extended versions of LOTR for the first time.
Next up in my mini SG-1 watch is “48 Hours”. I’m planning to read Blood Ties later this week, and I’ll eventually get around to Do No Harm. Odds are that I’ll start a ‘one episode a month’ rewatch of SGA because I miss it. Even though I ought to prioritize other shows. But I do really miss my favorite show and with the recent rumblings I want to keep Stargate front & center.
... Yeah, I’m still using media as a coping mechanism. Oh well. Anybody (re)watching something fun?
Edit: Though I also need to get some more reading in after the 2 Stargate novels. Probably rereading since I don’t have a lot of mental bandwidth for new stories, which is mostly used up by TV right now.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a blog status post. Oops. There hasn’t been that much progress but I’m still going to talk about it.
As I had hoped, I adored the first official Ultra Guardians episode. To be fair, it would have taken a lot for me to dislike it, as it combines Pokémon, Super Sentai (localized as Power Rangers for the USA), and wormholes. I’m very excited to see what’s to come!
Lost Galaxy’s ending was definitely an odd note to end my journey of watching the first boxed sets. It was one of the more uneven seasons I’ve seen, although I’ll acknowledge there were extenuating circumstances. Plus I did rewatch “Day of the Dumpster” on Saturday.
I don’t think I had seen the 8th episode of Princess Tutu yet when I made the last post. The stakes are rising and the characters are getting more complicated. I’m enjoying it so far.
Star Trek wise, I’m eleven episodes into TOS. It’s been rather serious so far. The reusing of the original pilot footage is a clever conceit, but uh, it is pretty clear that the original pilot was the rough draft.
My SG-1 rewatch for this month was “Prometheus Unbound”, which I still love. “Camelot” & “Bad Guys” are up next, with different types of posts for the last two months. I still need to figure out how exactly to celebrate the 25th anniversary next July.
I’ve read another chunk of Blood Ties, which has brought up Rodney’s grief over Carson again. On the one hand, it is hard to read. On the other, I have to appreciate that the author isn’t glossing over or ignoring what Carson meant to Rodney. They get a special tag for a reason, after all.
The Earth-based subplot is getting somewhat convoluted, though I’m still enjoying the psychic dinosaurs back in the Pegasus Galaxy. Also I’m already queued up for Sparktober so be prepared for that.
I like getting Gwen screencaps from BBC Merlin, and it’s been a good way to ease back into doing it. Soonish I’ll post a few more, this time from mid season 3. After I’m done with her costumes, I’ll likely take an afternoon to get screencaps from the 2014 Beauty and the Beast and Love & Friendship. Not to mention some Grant Jansky pics too...
At this point, I strongly suspect my OUAT reviews will be more general analysis topped by costume discussion. Because the plot would be a lot to keep track of. Not to mention all the resulting face palms. There’ll probably be brief notes though, more for my sake than any readers’. Listen, my feelings regarding OUAT are messy and that’s likely to be reflected in my reviews.
I don’t think I’ll do a review of them, but I did recently watch Porco Rosso & The Power of Us (one of the newest Pokémon movies). Both were pretty fun! Up next are Barbie as Rapunzel and Bedknobs & Broomsticks, hopefully to be reviewed on their upcoming anniversaries.
I still need to watch “Remember Nothing”. I really wish XWP’s first season finale hadn’t spooked me so. :/
Now, confession time. This actually happened earlier this summer. I opted to watch the first episode of an apparent miniseries called Wizards. And, well, I spent the entire time going 0.0 due to the overload of characters, worldbuilding, and the general awesomeness.
A Google search revealed that there were actually two previous series that informed Wizards, so no wonder I got overwhelmed. I went back and saw the actual first few episodes and liked them. I was particularly pleased about Jonathan Hyde playing Strickler, since I liked him in the original Jumanji and the Dinotopia TV show. (Note to self, add the latter to the list of ‘needs screencaps’.)
It’s since been on the back burner, but I’m curious to hear if others think I should delve into the Tales of Arcadia verse.
Also, I do have a pretty big pile of screencaps from before 11/19. Mostly Power Rangers & Stargate, obviously. Anyone have any preferences to see what I deemed noteworthy enough to be put in my blog posts? I keep them primarily to avoid starting all over in case of lost links or disaster striking the blog. Or if I ever decide to hit the restart button on it. And to use as laptop backgrounds (my new Gwen folder is the current slideshow).

I still need to finish Blood Ties & Do No Harm. I haven’t been especially motivated to do so though. Hopefully it’s just spring allergies. I have watched “48 Hours”, which really is an awesome episode. This means “Abyss” is up next for June 27th, in a far more wistful rewatch than I thought it’d be when I made the ten episode list.
I’m done with TCW, having watched all that my currently extra low stress tolerance can deal with. Since I know things just continue worsening after “The Lawless”. Even with all the future tragedy, I did enjoy what I watched of the show, so thanks to @magic-owl for encouraging me to watch it last year. I also rewatched Droid Tales, which was mostly fun outside of a few digs at the prequels (and not in an affectionate parody way).
The fifth season of BBC Merlin continues to be exasperating. The writers’ railroading of the characters is overt, it’s more obvious than ever that women are either evil or damsels in distress, and I have a bad feeling there won’t be enough buildup or fallout regarding Camlann.
“The Power of Pink” was a great send off for Kendrix, particularly given the circumstances. I’m interested to see how the end of PRLG plays out. Still can’t believe I’ve almost watched all 700 episodes of the four boxed sets. I’m still waiting for a fifth one for the New Saban era since I don’t think one has been released yet.
Sun & Moon Ultra Adventures continues to be a bright spot, even as an actual plot begins. Wormholes! I really do love this show.
“Giselle” was a somewhat gloomy episode but I am really seeing why Princess Tutu is so highly regarded.
I’ve had two ‘sessions’ of watching the extended FOTR, and I think the next one will be the last. I know Middle-Earth has its flaws, but I still deeply love the franchise. And I’ve been enjoying the new-to-me snippets.
At this point, I’ve opted to make the ST:TOS, XWP, OUAT, & DS9 posts on a biweekly schedule to ensure a timely schedule. Honestly, stretching out the time frame is more of a benefit than a flaw. ST: TOS will start in early September for its 55th anniversary, XWP at the month’s end for the 2nd season’s 25th anniversary, OUAT in late October for its 10th anniversary, and DS9 won’t begin until its 29th anniversary at the start of 2022.
I know I need to get started soon. And I want to, but three of them are new to me and the last one having uneven quality, so the fact is I haven’t had the mental bandwidth for doing so. Hopefully that’ll change once I’ve finished with BBC Merlin.

I have re-watched “Inauguration” and scheduled its mini-review for Tuesday over on the blog. Over here on that day, there’ll be plenty of SG-1 posts. Excitingly “Prometheus Unbound” is up for next month!
Still no progress on the SGA front. I’ll try to read some more of Blood Ties this week.
The status quo got changed in the seventh episode of Princess Tutu, so it looks like there’ll be more to analyze from this point in.
I’m still loving Journeys, to the point that I talk mostly about it in the ostensible “The Dex Can’t Help It!” review. While I don’t dislike Rotom Dex the way some (most?) fans do, I have to admit Rotom Dex can’t support a whole episode. The next episode didn’t have that issue, due to focusing on Team Rocket. Pretty sure there’ll be Super Sentai references & wormholes in Ultra Adventures, so that’s very exciting for me.
I won’t review it, but I really enjoyed the Star Wars episode of The Muppet Show. There was a lot of great humor; Mark clearly was having a blast. Though the Disney reference at the end is outright prophetic. Honestly I do have to wonder what a post Episode V appearance would have been like.
Just 4 episodes left to watch in PRLG. I’m a bit nervous about if the project will end on a high note or not. I keep hearing snippets of the Mystic Force theme in my head, even though the last time I heard it way back in February. Maybe it’s because that season was my introduction to the franchise? In any case, I am planning to rewatch one episode per season in 2023 for the 30th anniversary.
On the short list are “Something Fishy”, “The Phantom Phenomenon”, “Worlds Apart”, the “Reinforcements from the Future” two-parter, “Truth and Consequences”, “Abridged”, “Soul Specter”, the “Once a Ranger” two-parter, “Path of the Righteous”, and I’m going to have a rough time picking a single RPM episode. Still need to pick MM2, MM3, Zeo, IS, LR, and NS episodes as well. To be fair I need to finish LG before picking an episode.
I have now watched “The Man Trap”, which has held up rather well. Honestly, I’ve gone about things rather backwards. I first got deeply in Stargate, then Star Wars, and hopefully now Star Trek. As a Beckett & McKay fan, I can’t help but appreciate that the first episode spotlighted Doctor McCoy. :)
... Years ago I watched the first 2 episodes of the Ninth Doctor’s run and realized it wasn’t my cup of tea. So unfortunately I won’t be getting into that fandom.
In any case, I think I’ll enjoy TOS. At the very least, I suspect I’ll have a better appreciation for tropes that appear in Stargate after watching it.
Still need to resume XWP and to begin my OUAT rewatch. For the latter, I really wish laptops would still play discs so I could take screencaps because its costumes are amazing. Maybe there’s a gizmo I can get that’ll help?

Reading The Book of Night with Moon might not have been my best idea, given how it involves both a literary role swap of a cat grieving her human and a case where just one kitten survives out of a litter.
It’s like SGA’s “Sunday” where I know the piece of media is trying to manipulate my heartstrings but it’s so expertly done that it still works. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book but it delves into some bleak topics.
... Yeah, that episode is on my mind right now. I need to work up the nerve to read the rest of Blood Ties now that I know there is a high chance of there being a Rodney POV section that semi-canonically reveals his mindset after Carson’s death.
On a brighter note, Carl, Tom, Nita, & Kit all make cameos. I’m pretty sure this book wasn’t edited to fit into the New Millennium timeline but that isn’t really a problem.
Although I didn’t have a copy before, I think I must have checked it out of the library or something because the major plot points largely invoked deja vu rather than surprise or interest. It happened too often for it to be from me following Diane Duane here. I guess I’ll find out if that will happen with the other 2 books too when I read them.
I have watched a few more episodes of various shows. I’m curious to see the last few episodes of XWP’s first season; Jackie Chan Adventures seems content to meander for now; the end of The Mandalorian’s 2nd season lived up to the hype; PRLG is revving up to (re) introduce its actual Sixth Ranger; and I saw the second half of BBC Merlin’s “Beauty and the Beast” two parter. I was admittedly underwhelmed, especially with Gwen & Morgana being out of focus.
I know, I know: the show is supposed to be around Merlin & Arthur. It’s just that I like Gwen & Morgana better.
I also rewatched “The Ol’ Raise and Switch” the other day. It’s a testament to both Sun & Moon’s quality and to my need for a comfort show that I’m okay with basically immediately rewatching episodes.
Going back to XWP, I think I’ll keep watching but schedule the second season posts for the autumn to ensure a buffer. Plus... I might be plotting a new small side project. Yes, I am well aware that I should stop shoving new media to the top of my list. It’s a problem but also, I’m just trying to have some joy this year.
I hope everyone has a safe week.

I’ve written up pretty much everything so I can watch more episodes now. The only exception is that I’m struggling with how to wrap up the Farscape posts since I don’t want to be too harsh, since I suspect that it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
I’m almost done with Merlin’s first season, and to urge to protect Morgana & Gwen from what’s to come is strong. Okay, and Arthur & Merlin, but mostly Morgana & Gwen. I can’t really blame Merlin as he’s trying his best under difficult circumstances. Nor Gaius, because rewatching as an adult is giving me the idea that he might have gaslit himself in order to survive the purge.
So I blame Uther and to a lesser extent Kilgharrah. Because I’m 99% sure Morgana & Mordred would have been fine if Merlin hadn’t been metaphorically poisoned against them, leading to a literal poisoning as the tip of the iceberg. See... the predicted ranting has begun.
Once I’ve polished up the first season’s reviews, I’ll likely start scheduling them for March.
I did get to see The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special today, I’ll write up my thoughts on it later to be posted on Friday. Overall it was a delight, but I do have a few nitpicks.
As for TCW, I’ll wrap up season 4 this month, but I think I’ll schedule the remaining three seasons’ posts to start next February instead of starting five later this month, mostly in hopes of getting a proper buffer of posts.
XWP and PRLG remain priorities, closely followed by Sun & Moon and Jackie Chan Adventures. I want to start The Legend of Korra soon, but I also don’t want to try watching too many shows at once. So I suspect it’ll have to stay in the backlog for a bit longer.
I absolutely am planning to watch ITSV in time for my review to go up on its 2nd anniversary next month. I’ve heard so many great things about it!
Reading-wise, I do have some plans. But right now the focus is on T*Witches. As I still need to read the 4th book (I lack 2 & 3). The first book held up okay, though some of that is me having a low bar for them. Look, I like these books- never said they were great.

Time for an update- not just blog stuff this time (but blog stuff first). The latest batch of reviews have been written but not scheduled yet.
I’ve written up the 4th COTRK post; I am reawakening my love of this series. Looking back, I think this series might have been the strongest influence on my fiction writing, both fan & original. Well, this series & Enchanted Forest Chronicles.
Pokémon-wise, I’ve written 9 reviews for Sun & Moon, which continues to be a delight. It is so fluffy but it takes the Pokémon world seriously, which is a great combination.
I finally wrote up the review for “The Enemy Within” so I can head towards the end of PRIS. It’s hard to believe I’m nearing the end of the Zordon-era, as my first MMPR post went up on 8/28/15. That’s right; I’ve been working on these reviews for a half-decade now.
... There hasn’t been any progress on XWP nor The Flash yet, but I am planning to watch the seventh & second episodes respectively later this week. I need to rewatch the fourth episode of JCA because I waited too long to write up my thoughts on it. That won’t be a hardship, especially given how jam-packed & energetic it was.
I need to schedule the 2nd post on Farscape’s 3rd season, especially as I’m now 1 episode away from being done with the third disc. The halfway point of the season, “Incubator”, was utterly terrifying: well-written, but yikes. That sentiment warrants repeating. The following episodes were marginally less bleak. “Scratch ‘n Sniff” might have been darker, actually, but hid it under goofiness.
I watched TCW’s “Assassin” tonight, which I really enjoyed. Once I write up my thoughts on it, the 13th post can be scheduled. I’m nearly halfway through the boxed set & I love the show so far.
Okay, time to shift topics. I doubt anybody noticed, but my presence has been more sporadic recently due to brick space reasons (nothing bad, just busier). That means I will most likely respond less quickly than in the past, but I will try to check in daily.
To hopefully limit confusion, I’m going to start using a queue tag (or at least I will do my best to do so). I’ve settled on “in which there is a queue” as a shout-out to the Enchanted Forest Chronicles chapter titles. Worst-case scenario, there’ll be a daily McKay pic until early (edited after I learned the truth) late October and a weekly Beckett pic for the rest of 2020.
Note to self: find a bunch of Daniel Jackson photos to add to the queue too.

Don’t worry, Lugia, Billy, & Kim will return, but I wanted to mix it up for a bit with my new Mew plush sitting on my Beckett jacket because they’re both associated with genetics! … Listen, it’s the simple things that amuse me sometimes.
Edit: Hang on, it’s acting up on me. Hmm. :/
Edit 2: I figured it out! \o/
Speaking of Pokémon, yes I’ve heard the good news although I am concerned/curious what will be next. Right now I’m still really enjoying Sun & Moon Ultra Legends. Although the Adventures in the Orange Islands are coming up soon- probably less than a year at this rate!
I’m also increasingly curious/hopeful about if Pokémon Masters will have PLA sync pairs after the game’s first anniversary. I mean, if nothing else, it’ll give the app new content while waiting to do Paldea sync pairs. And yes, there’s likely to be Scarlet commentary from me once I have it.
I’ve been playing Dreamlight Valley; I’ve been enjoying it but I haven’t had a lot to say about it. No Milo nor Kida yet. Although to be fair, Belle & Stitch haven’t arrived despite being on the original loading screen. And only Gothel and Scar represent their movies. I don’t even know??
I haven’t yet re-watched SGA’s first mid-season two-parter, but you all will know when I have done so. >:)
XWP’s 3rd season has been a bit of a mixed bag for me so far but I’m still watching & reviewing for my blog. … I still need to resume ALOK’s first season. At this rate I’ll have to start over like I know I’ll have to with Princess Tutu. Though there at least I’ll be able to get screencaps on my second watch now that I have my Blu-Ray disc drive. I’m still figuring how to review Sailor Moon.
Sooner rather than later I’ll be doing my Power Rangers mini-watch. I won’t lie, it’ll be interesting to basically zoom through the first seventeen seasons. Lots of revisiting my favorites! 2023 is going to be the year of Power Rangers & DS9 on this blog. >:D
Speaking of anime, I really liked the first 2 volumes of the Spy x Family manga so hopefully I’ll be able to obtain the anime sometime.
My DS9 watch isn’t especially coherent; on a first watch I’m on the second season but clearly I’ve been going back to rewatch & get screencaps because I want to be just watching on the first time. The important thing is that I’m having a lot of fun! :)
… Although I will say that it’s weirdly impressive how accurate Julian’s hasty backstory will be. Him taking an acute interest/concern about whether or not Rugal’s adoptive parents mistreat him due to who he is. That’s not just Julian being compassionate and/or getting caught up in Garak’s riptide, it’s him projecting due to his own childhood, isn’t it? Same with him calling out Melora’s coping mechanism because he’s aware he’s on the other side of the coin in how they react to people due to a fear of rejection because of who they are.
Meanwhile, Rom hasn’t gotten his development yet, but I have come up with a somewhat depressing Watsonian theory on what was going on in “Babel”. It’s not that Rom couldn’t do the repair, it’s that if he had, Quark would have griped about how long it took him to do so. The idea that Odo caught Quark out because he oversimplified the lie is amusing one. The depressing part is why Rom didn’t actually do so.
I think it’s similar to what went on with Daja and her birth family before the events of the Circle of Magic quartet, where doing manual work was looked down on in Trader culture to the point Daja was scolded/punished for her curiosity about it. To lean into my foreknowledge, Quark hasn’t drunk the root beer enough to encourage his brother’s interest in mechanics, even if it appears to be necessary to do so for profit.
Admittedly the animated Justice League has gone up in my media backlog list after learning about Conroy’s passing. … Not quite literally yet, but odds are I’ll redo the list for real closer to the end of 2022. That’ll probably be the next ramble post.
#my ramblings#Pokémon#ds9#other shows mentioned but let’s be honest this is *their* post#no wonder I tried to jam them together the other day XD#also this is me acknowledging I changed my icon

Okay, time for another mini-update as far as blog progress goes.
I’m 3 episodes into Farscape’s 4th season and I am mostly liking it except everything about Grayza’s characterization is troubling. AKA: the review for the first disc will require a content warning. So many Farscape episodes require heavy-duty content warnings.
Having seen TCW’s “Nightsisters” & “Monster”, I’m excited to see the final part of this trilogy of episodes. I mean, it did get darker than I expected but I should have known better given that the episodes center on Asajj Ventress. So far I’ve resisted the temptation to read any further in SOLAD but I don’t know how long I’ll hold out.
Also, I’m pretty amused that Mother Talzin & Rita Repulsa were both voiced by Barbara Goodson.
I’m writing up the review for “Mission to Secret City” and have realized I now have only fifty episodes to go with the 4 boxed sets. I can say that because it means I’ve watched & reviewed 650 episodes. I don’t know what I’ll do with myself once I’m done with Lost Galaxy; buy the Neo-Saban seasons, I suppose.
I really do need to watch the 2nd episode of The Flash’s second season. I know I’m dragging my heels because I don’t want to be hard on the show, but I’m scared that’ll be the case given how many flaws I found in my rewatch of season 1. But also I have to watch it so I can watch the selection of season 4 episodes so I can finally watch Arrow’s second season (ZELENKA- Er, I mean Anatoly) and Legends of Tomorrow’s first season.
After that I need to watch XWP’s 8th episode, which apparently is the requisite crossover with the parent show. So far I’ve been liking the show although certain aspects have become dated. But that’s to be expected given how it’s now 25 years old.
Next up in Pokémon Sun & Moon is the pancake race episode, which will be a delight. This show is adorable.
I still need to set aside the time to reread Pride of the Genii. At this point, I might end up rereading the last 3 COTRK books before I read Reliquary. I am possibly juggling too much media. Eh, there are worse problems to have.
On that note, I also should be making the time to watch the 90s Mansfield Park & Ever After, because I keep forgetting to. Again, so much media, not enough time.
Lastly... I think I’m still figuring out how to use the queue function correctly, so I’m sorry about that.
Okay, I haven’t done much since the last update but here’s what I have done.
I’ve finished season 3 & started season 4 of Farscape. It’ll be interesting to see where I fall on the spectrum as appparently the final season was divisive.
I watched the 2-parter and then read the associated short story “Pursuit of Peace” which I really liked.
Serious query: should I go ahead & read the remaining stories or wait as I reach the associated episodes?
I watched “Mission to Secret City” for PRIS & the 12th episode of Sun & Moon, both of which I enjoyed. I am really falling in love with the Alola era of the Pokémon anime.
