My friend, may I open up to you the broad world of clicking an AO3 user's bookmarks. <3

AKA: literally click any ao3 username, "bookmarks" should appear towards the top of the resulting page. You can then voyage into the additionally wonderful waters of filtering by length, "recommended", fandom, etc.

Also: if the fic you like is in collections, try checking them out, especially if the title appeals to you. Can be a great way to find essentially a fic playlist.

Someday I swear I will make a franmaya comic too. I'm just... analyzing their characters and darn I want them to have an overemotional conversation. Don't even know if it will end up being explicitly romantic or not but I want them to talk. They are such interesting characters and the scene in the lobby after the BTTT trial (where Franziska questions how she can seem fine despite what happened, and Miles says his two cents about it) just screams the need for a discussion between them. Do they have a significant day or something? Does franmaya day exist? I can put it on my calendar so I have an occasion to do it for maybe. That tends to motivate me hahaha

Me, faced with a shiny new story idea: Save it for the Inklings Challenge, save it for the Inklings Challenge, please save it for the Inklings Challenge, I'm begging you please save it for the Inklings Challenge

#adventures in writing #the idea engine is warming up #by now i've got a certain sense of what kind of stories i generate for the inklings challenge #mash up one of the genres with another work or genre and create some half-baked world #the most recent is: the boxcar children as a portal fantasy #older sister and middle brother and younger sister the oldest no more than eleven or twelve #fantasy world royalty who flee from danger (probably an evil usurping uncle who wants to kill them like it's the aristocats)#and stumble into our world #and have to have all sorts of orphan adventures as they figure out how to survive #scrounging for supplies #setting up housekeeping in the woods or in some kind of abandoned building #figuring out our world and making friends #which they're going to need once the evil uncle's forces come after them #it would be so so middle grade and so derivative and such cheesy earnest fun #telling you about it now because it's the type of story idea that loses its luster in 24 hours #and i'll probably never write it #but also it can go on an inklings list and who knows #maybe three days before the deadline this one will pop up as a viable option for this year

What markers do you use and what kind paper? The textures are so Delicious

Very basic paper, actually! I find I overthink when using expensive stuff and it makes my sketches worse.

As for markers, I use Copics! Not that this is an endorsement (my first set were a very nice gift), but I have really liked using alcohol based markers over water based ones; lovely texture, good blending, and less streaking. However, the price can be *brutal*, and you can very easily get by with other markers + pencil crayons.

#ask #art faqs #fancy supplies are nice but the dont really help THAT much for art skills. Consistancy and persistance does.#I balked the first time I needed to go in to buy a few new ones to fill out my roster.#if you are going to invest; my strategy was to make those fancy new supplies a reward for drawing X amount of days in a row #that way one doesnt buy a bunch of stuff for a soon to be abandoned hobby #Art is a relatively cheap hobby at its basics. You do not need the fanciest and most expensive things.#I think watercolour is the only exception for me; that paper better be high grade. The paint mix also matters #but I digress. Buy what you need and not what you want. Save your money.#Guilt will make you stop drawing. Hoarding supplies and never using them is wasteful #when I drop money on new colours I'm going in with a list of what I want #and looking through the swatchpad for hours until i get the right colour.#cant emphasize enough how fortunate I am to have been gifted my copics. I never would have bought them on my own.
