just looked up a song on spotify to add it to my playlist and immediately after it in the search results was a playlist called ‘divorced aussie dad tunes’ and there was so much nickelback on it. no no no i am not becoming my father not today no sir.

New day, accidentally went to sleep for like two hours and had a mad dream. Like ultimate crossover dream i was hella confused. the dream is under the cut

so at first i was supposed to be working but i left the house like two hours early and got food at this place. it looked like your average off license but they made like actual food too??? so i got my chocolate yazoo since they were out of coke and wanted this meat thing. idk what the meal was but it looked and tasted nice. i met up with this woman on the way there and she was supposed to be my colleague or something idk. then like idk why but the lady at the off license gave me these clothes, the material the same as like swimming costumes. it was a two piece but the bottom half was like a skirt looking thing, idk what was going on there. all i know was that it was this burgundy red colour and it made me feel like a butterfly.

so we were talking about fuck all and mid eating this is when my dream-movie transition happened and i ended up in this building or whatever. listen idk what the fuck the building was for but i was showing some people around. a bunch of teens and even my MOTHER and my LITTLE SISTER SHOW UP. and now im pretty sure my work is done so like we go into this room (the teens and my sister) and we just swim. i swim in the clothes that lady at the off license gave me. eventually the teens left and then its just me and my sister and i manage to teach her how to somewhat swim and float. like what i cant float and i can barely swim if my feet cant touch the floor.

eventually my sister and my mother leave right. and idk i liked swimming so i wanted to stay. so i decided to bunk my statsitics lecture (do not do this, go to your lectures) . i came to the conclusion after swimming alone and realising i was already 20 minutes late and im good with stats anyway. and you know what fair enough. however the skirt part of the dress was bothering me and apparently it came with shorts too so i got out of this small cube pool to go put the skirt thing away. mind you the room this pool is in is also like this lounge and you can cover the pool after. i did not leave it covered. obviously i was gonna go back to it.

but when i go back i hear male voices. and for some reason im wearing a big white tshirt over my swimming clothes and im a bit dried off. tell me why when i go get my other stuff in my room bts are there. like its been forever since bts have ever been in my dreams but they are here now. so im like what the fucking cause??? bts??? are in??? my swimming room???

carrying on from that im going up and down the stairs going from this lounge to the mini room with the now covered swimming pool and my colleague now is upstairs and she can see im confused. so she asks me to speak and my dumbass goes

"i wanna swim but bts are in there? what do i do?"

"people who go in there only are allowed if theyre gonna swim, just go with them,"

"you just want me to go swim with bts? are you mad?"

then im still alternating between upstairs and downstairs, i talk with some of them offhandendly and theyre finding me amusing cause im a very expressive person and im mad confused and trying not to freak out. like the peoplpe im seeing arent bts. at one point im talking to my colleague and jin hears so he tries to imitate me and is laughing, so i imitate back and do that stance where you pretend youre gonna hit someone. yeah.

so now im somehwat standing in this corridor just outside the room with the pool cause i needed the toilet right and for some fucking reason they didnt lock the door properly so jk's in there and im thanking everything that i didnt see shit. so now im just awkwardly waiting in the corridor with hobi and tae. theyre really funny so it isnt that bad.

so as im waiting for the toilet. a side door opens. and more??/ people??? come??? in??? so now im just looking. idk what the fuck is happening but tell me why i see nicki minaj right. tell me why my mind made the people coming in now all celebrities or fictional characters. IM SEEING SUPERHEROES HERE. the likes of superman, iron man, wonder woman, the falcon, the teen titans ALL OF THEM and my mind is like no this isnt cosplay, these are the actual superheroes. at one point these group of women come in right and they see me (mind you they are glammed up and everything, they were beautiful) and then this happened

"oh my god! look at you, you're so beautiful and cute!"

mind you i'm a bitch that can't take compliments so i start chuckling/giggling or whatever and DENY. im waving my hand whilst i do this and say

"no, im just, im just average looking,"

then they go: "average looking? okay and what? like look at my, gap in my teeth, longer than normal face and my eyes are a bit too close together, im still beautiful and im still cute, so why can't i say that about you? take the compliment girl!"

all good vibes go around. in my peripheral i see a dude wearing all black sitting next to me. i look to my right and its batman.

at this point in time, me as the watcher of this dream madness has come to the realisation that this is all happening outside of a fucking toilet.

im looking at batman and i ask "are you actually batman?"

no its fucking spongebob dream me, what kind of question???

and hes sighs and like says yes.

next thing you know, we are outside scaling the fucking building. im still in my white shirt and swimming trunks and we make it to the floor above.

so now we just tryna find a bloody toilet. and then i see, i see the fucking mandalorian. now now im just, as a watcher of this shit go down im like what kind of crossover is this. like what the fuck. and apparently, this is actually so funny to me but listen, apparently we're friends omay. BEAR WITH ME. and he knew i had statistics at this time, and was planning on me being surprised by all these people. and im just like HUH?!! SO IM JUST STARING AT HIM, batman's standing a little ways behind me, inside im likefloating cause OMG WHAT A LOVELY THING MANDO DID, im SWOONING and then he turns and sees me

sure, some of her work turned out better than others but it was clear that she had a real knack for anything that didn’t really require the left side of her brain. if it involved creativity and didn’t have much structure, she was drawn to it and excelled. she was fourteen when she ended up making her first short film. sixteen when she earned a spot at cannes film festival, sparking quite a bit of buzz and earning funding to a school of her choosing . 

celeste knew she wanted to go to america and it helped that she had a few cousins in north carolina . she went to UNC school of the arts for two semesters before throwing her scholarship away . . . her distaste for structure getting in the way . she’s also pretty fickle so when that chapter closed, she decided to give up short films and put her energy into youtube . 

her channel was an absolute clusterf*ck at first but she made a ridiculous conspiracy theory video and it just kind of stuck. i’d consider most of her channel to be similar to buzzfeed unsolved ( conspiracies, ghosts, etc ) with like a sprinkle of ridiculous challenge videos and maybe the occasional cooking/painting video ?? if you’re her friend, you’ve probably made a cameo in a video at some point .

if it wasn’t obvious enough, celeste’s biggest flaws are her need for freedom and her fickle tendencies which affects nearly everything in her life . everything is very sporadic for her with very little consistency . she’ll go weeks without working on anything and then have a deadline and have to finish it in 2 days . romantic relationships are very hard for her because by the time you’ve gotten comfortable with her, she’s probably moved on a bit . friendships are admittedly a bit easier but she’s definitely not a friend you’d expect to be present a lot ?? phone is always on do not disturb and she takes hours to text back . if you want her, you’d probably have better luck just showing up on her doorstep .

Chapter 1: WAV

It started as most days do for Nicki. She woke up, got her coffee, and she checked her twitter.

It was trending again. That song. The song made by her rival. Perfect beat. It got stuck in everyone’s heads. The kids loved it. They danced to it, oblivious of how it hurt Nicki. WAP, they called it. The name was short, sweet and easy to remember.

It was perfect. Nicki couldn’t deny it. She knew she had to top it, but she didn’t know if she could.

No, she did know she could. The kids loved her! They loved every move she made; every breath she took,

Or did they? The song was perfect, goddamnit. Not even Mozart could top it.

She knew what she had to do.

She needed a new producer.

Her current one was sweet, really, but not even she could top WAP.

She needed the best.

She had no choice.

The first guy was strict. He was all business. The minute he walked in, he shook Nicki’s hand and started talking numbers, and stats. and logic, but no where did he mention music.

Definitely not him.

The second lady was quite the opposite. She knew nothing of numbers, and yawned whenever Nicki Spoke. Suddenly, she got up.

Her reasoning? She wanted a Travis Scott burger.

“Um, chile, anyways so... :(” said Nicki, sadly.

Nicki was ready to give up. She packed her things, and wished her careers goodbye, until he walked in.

He had confidence. She could tell by the way he was walking. He entered the the room as if he had been there a million times. He had a mustache that sat like a lonesome pencil on his lip. And those eyes. His eyes spoke a million words. They meant business, but left room for fun. The blue, a song bird on a perch.

He said as he waltzed up to Nicki.

Instantly, he shook her had with such vigor, Nicki could have passed out right there.

“Name’s Varrick! Heard you needed a new producer, eh? Well today’s your lucky day!”

Nicki was shocked! She had no room for thoughts. She couldn’t tell if it was the fact that is all happened so quick, or the way he approached her.

“You heard right.” uttered Nicki,

“You see, there’s a song out; WAP, I’m sure you know. It’s good. Really good. I need to top it. My career depends on it.”

Varrick saw the look in her eyes, he’d always had that talent. She looked sad, angry, and hungry. Hungry for her career. Hungry for popularity. Hungry for...

No. It couldn’t be! They’d just Met!

He looked again to confirm what he had read.

She was hungry for him.

“Listen, I can tell how bad you want this, I want this too. Let’s team up. We can make this happen, but we need to do it together. What do you say?”

What did she say? What could she say! He was just what she needed. He had charm. He had Passion. He was goofy, yet serious when he needed to be. His physique tantalized Nicki in a way that had never happened before. She had been with many men in the past, but none this entrancing.

She couldn’t say all that, so she did what her heart needed her to do.

She kissed him.

She kissed him, and to her surprise, he kissed back.

Nicki couldn’t believe herself.

What was she doing?

She just met this man! Nicki didn’t believe in love at first sight, at least she didn’t think she did. The kiss was so risky, but then again, so was everything else she was doing.

She had no time to take into account risks. She needed this.

Varrick and Nicki stayed with their lips locked for about 5 minutes, until they broke. They were both breathless.

“Should uh,”

gasped Nicki,

“Should we get to work?”

Varrick didn’t know what she meant by “work”. Did she mean their song, or... other things.

He didn’t care. Either way, the answer was yes.

Varrick grabbed Nicki’s hips. Nicki let out a small moan with his grasp.

“We shall.” Varrick growled.

They kissed again, with more passion; more vigor.

Nicki knew where this was going, so she locker her office door, and closed her blinds. Varrick slammed Nicki onto her desk, before getting to work.

It started as most days do for Nicki, but it had gone so much better than she could comprehend.

#2020Wrapped

Ohhhh Spotify's Wrapped is here!!! This gets me excited, it's like my year in a nutshell. 

My listening habits showed my 2020 mood. I only listen to pop when I'm stressed, and data proved that this year is indeed stressful for me. My top genre is pop! Previous years, it was Rock. 🤣 Haha! I took a break from my headbanging playlists and it was a good idea! hahaha. For a long time, I’ve been stuck with rock and metal. It feels like a different world listening to other genre! 

I love reggae, which I don’t enjoy before. I am also listening to a lot of Kpops! I am fan of Blackpink and BTS! Their songs are such a bop. My younger self will be quite amazed that I also enjoy listening to Cardi B and Nicki Minaj now! Pinoy hip-hop and rap are my go to when I am feeling a bit under the weather! The lyrics and beat, gosh, it hypes me up! I love Psychedelic Boyz, Stickfiggas, Shanti Dope, CLR, and Al James! eyyyyy! Who would’ve thought that I will be a fan of these amazing singers and rappers?!

I am shocked with the number of new artists that I discovered! 683?! That's a lot! I did explore a lot of genres and artists this year and my great discoveries are H.E.R., Lauv, Etana, Freya Ridings, HONNE, Frank Ocean, Jhene Aiko, Jess Connelly, the list goes on and on 🤣 and I also discovered bands from the 90s and early 2000s, my favorite now is Nada Surf, thanks to How I Met Your Mother for introducing me to this band! 

Yes, I listened to tons of new artists, but I stayed loyal to my fave band, and that’s Fall Out Boy! hahaha I am in their top 0.1% listeners!!! And of course, Avril Lavigne is still on my top 5! I also want to highlight my love for Post Malone! His song is my most streamed this year! I can listen to him everyday! It’s not on the list but James Bay is also a fave!!! 

I've spent 98,805 minutes of my 2020 listening to music! My gahd! I need to get a life, eh? hahaha Music is my life. I’m happy with my stats this year, ang babaw, I know. But this only showed that I am different now. Music gets me excited and I can’t describe how amazing how it feels to meet new artists and enjoy new music. :)

Part One:

I chose to make a study guide for my PSY 205 exam.  For the first exam in PSY 205, I felt I procrastinated and started studying the day before.  For this exam, I went to Graham Dining Hall to hand write my study guide and then review at different times.  Without this exploration, I would not have ever gone to Graham to study, but now I will go there when I feel I am procrastinating with my work.

Part Two:

3 Goals

1.     Go to bed on time

a.     Avoid Napping (Everyday)

b.     Get at least 8 hours (Everyday)

2.     Study for upcoming exams

a.     Finish psych study guide and review

Finish study guide on Tuesday, study in 20-minute intervals 2-3 times every day until exam

b.     Start SOM and stats study guide

Start making study guides on Tuesday for 20 minutes each every day until done

3.     New Workout Routine

a.     250 pushups

25 at a time at different times in the day

b.     150 curls (each arm)

30 at a time at different times in the day

My three goals for the week were to go to bed on time, study for upcoming exams, and implementing a new daily workout routine.  The first two goals were similar to last week, but I felt the need to have them this week.  While I started going to bed earlier last week, I feel I still need to have that as a goal of mine to start developing a better sleeping routine.  With my PSY 205 exam this week, and an exam in SOM 122 and MAS 261 next week, there is no time for me to wait to the last minute to start preparing, so that’s why I felt the need to make sure to start studying for all 3 exams.  I wanted to implement a new workout routine because I am trying to get stronger in my upper body.  I didn’t know if I could meet all these goals this week, but I feel the “sky is the limit,” so I knew I could do it.  I didn’t feel the need to reboot at any time during the week.

We Need One More/Last Eminem "Comeback"

With his legacy on the line, Eminem needs to deliver one more banger of an album.

Eminem’s most recent release, Revival, hit streaming services and store shelves amid much hype and speculation. Had the man known as Slim Shady finally crafted the comeback album that many of his hardcore fans – if not the hip-hop world at large – had been craving for what feels like forever? Based on the listener reaction and resulting album sale numbers, the answer was a resounding “no.” Despite debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in the closing moments of 2017, Revival marked a huge drop-off in sales for the rap giant. With 267,000 Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) units moved during its first week on the market, it represented Em’s worst debut from a stats perspective since 1999’s The Slim Shady LP. To make matters worse, several critics echoed fan disappointment in the record, calling it one of the poorest efforts of Mathers’ career. Sure, a ballad-heavy album that features high-profile snoozers such as “Walk on Water,” “Bad Husband” and “River” was bound to upset those hoping that Eminem would use his brief hiatus from the game as an opportunity to return to the fray with more ammunition than ever before. However, bogged down with warmed-over thematic elements and clunky rhymes, Revival proved to be a far cry from the rapper’s glory days. Having built his reputation on his unmistakable vocal delivery, Em still has his moments – most recently during his guest verse on Nicki Minaj’s new single “Majesty.” The rap empress has gone so far as to say that his performance on her album will go down as “one of the best verses in history.” Even going as far back as 2013’s “Rap God,” there’s little doubt that Eminem still has the skills, and then some. The issue, or debate, isn't centered around that; rather it's a question that relies moreso on his production choices and method of vocal delivery. Heavy-handed and tiresome beats don't necessarily make for an exciting vocal delivery, either. His voice has changed with age, to be sure, but even so, it's not like he can't bust out a more high-pitched flow or cadence when he so desires. There are many message boards across the internet discussing and dissecting this phenomenon-- we'll save our own dissection of that for another piece.  The question we are wondering today: Does Eminem have yet another comeback attempt in him? More specifically, have music consumers at large still got an ear for what he brings to the table, or have they simply grown tired of an Eminem who isn’t quite as fiery as he used to be. Using Revival as a platform to get far more overtly political with his music than he has in the past, maybe his suddenly woke persona isn’t doing his legacy any favors either. In fact, it’s a legacy whose relevancy is up for debate in certain circles. On the one hand, you have guys like Dave East who still count songs like “Stan” as part of their all-time top five. Conversely, you have others who have dismissed Em as a has-been, especially considering the shots he took at his own popularity in the lyrics to “Walk on Water.” It turns out publicly displaying his insecurities in such a transparent way didn’t sit well with his major supporters, who prefer their Slim Shady as a guy who uses anger and bravado as a means to wrestle with his demons. That edginess seems to have slowly seeped out of his system this decade, replacing it with a carefully harnessed moodiness that he used to great effect on the Rihanna duet “Love the Way You Lie,” as well as the dozen or so times he’s tried to rewrite that hit. There are times when his writing remains compelling and even emotionally arresting but, even with that lyrical prowess, those obvious attempts at a mainstream resurgence have been a string of (mostly) ugly misfires. Perhaps Eminem’s downward spiral, at least in the court of popular opinion, can be explained as a natural byproduct of changing times, changing trends and, most importantly, the aging process. On a sonic level, hip-hop barely resembles the climate that Mathers dominated with records like The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show; now, the emcees at the top of rap’s totem pole rely on a more subdued kind of melancholy to drive their music. By trying to move closer to that center, Em may have also undermined the very quality that made him so unique as an artist in the first place. That said, I have a hard time believing that the Michigan native would be content to let the dying embers of his music career rest on an album as widely ignored as Revival was. Even with a bunch of familiar faces assisting the rap legend on the production side of things, including fellow influencer Rick Rubin, the pieces just never gelled right. There was no out-and-out banger to speak of on the LP, nothing to fully satisfy Eminem fans until his next solo studio release. It was a thud that didn’t go unheard for even the most casual of music consumers. For that reason, I believe that Eminem has one more tour of duty in him. His status as arguably one of the greatest rappers of all time deserves a better curtain call – one that garners an ovation instead of disquieted murmuring. Most of all, nearly twenty years after The Slim Shady LP debuted in stores, Em is a man who clearly still has something to prove. That conversation used to revolve around his lyrical and personal transgressions, with human rights groups and other organization lashing out on the regular. Now, instead of worrying about his voice being silenced, he must demonstrate that it still matters. When his BET cypher first aired and the resulting fervor it was met with on social media mere moments later. Vocal delivery aside, this was the Eminem that hip-hop fans had been longing to see for what feels like an eternity – energized, pissed off and pulling absolutely no punches. When the much-hyped album that followed failed to live up to that teaser of a performance, the letdown was real yet hopefully not permanent. Even considering all of this, Eminem’s place in music’s history books has long been guaranteed. He will be a trending topic when he drops something new, regardless of whether it is deemed "comeback" material or not, simply because of his name and the history attached to it. However, like the Washington Wizards era of Michael Jordan’s career, the rapper should be mindful of letting things fade out so unceremoniously. It’s not the ending anyone wants and changing that narrative is more than possible – it’s needed. Read the full article
