wine & dine
Series: Bungo Stray Dogs Pairing: Chuuya Nakahara x Reader Word count: 3.2k Genre/ContentTags: Not Safe For Worms - chuuya is too sloshed to get it up, he has a broken lizard (a reptile dysfunction), this is mostly ur standard stuff, making out, hand stuff, mouth stuff, cunnilingus, lots of cunnilingus, if that was not explicitly clear, chuuya is kinda crabby but what else is new, alcohol consumption, no y/n usage
[Part 2 - the bonus chapter] [Read on AO3]
**MINORS DNI || 18+ ONLY**
Summary: When your plans for Chuuya’s birthday go awry, he keeps himself busy with a nice bottle of wine. However, when you arrive later that evening, you find that the wine has caused certain complications for Chuuya. No matter — he’s going to have a birthday feast one way or another.
A/N: Taking a leap and posting this without having it beta read (my beta reader has sm on her plate rn and I want her to prioritize herself first and foremost, everyone plz send her lots and lots of love), so please excuse any mistakes you may find. Also really trying to exercise just like, writing for my own body type first and foremost. So this one goes out specifically to the girlies who are taller and thiccer than Chuuya Nakahara.
Anyway, bone apple teeth, and happy birthday to my sweet widdle chuu chuu train.
7:12 p.m. Boss has me running a couple errands.
7:13 p.m. I’ll be a little later than we planned. 9 at the latest. We still good for tonight?
Chuuya exhaled, pinching the bridge of his nose. How convenient that the Boss had you working late on the same day he’d told Chuuya to call it an early day – his birthday.
“‘Oh, you work so hard, Chuuya.’ he says, ‘You should enjoy your birthday, Chuuya,’ he says,” Chuuya grumbles to himself from the confines of his quarters, downing his second glass of wine this evening. “‘Take this bottle from my cellar, Chuuya, you deserve it,’ he says.” Chuuya knocks back the last sip, somewhat aggressively setting it down on the table.
7:15 p.m. Yep. See you then
He sends you a quick reply and sets his phone on the table as well.
You both thought you’d been so careful about keeping your relationship a secret. Not that it needed to be one, but still, it was nice to have something be just yours for a little while. Chuuya had been suspicious that some of the others in the Port Mafia knew, or at the very least that Mori knew. And if he didn’t know it for sure before, then he damn sure knew it now.
The Boss had done this deliberately to fuck with him.
“And on my fucking birthday,” he grouched, folding his arms across his chest.
His phone buzzed, rattling the table.
7:18 p.m. Sorry about this. Love youuuu
7:19 p.m. <333
Chuuya sighed, his demeanor softening. He knew it wasn’t your fault, after all. He was just really looking forward to spending some quality time together. And you would, it’d just be later than he’d expected. So much for dinner, he thought.
At least if Mori was gonna mess with the two of you, he was getting free booze from the Boss’s collection out of it. And admittedly, it was indeed good booze.
Pouring himself a third glass, Chuuya braced himself for all the nothing that the next two hours had in store for him.
By the time you got back, it was pitch black outside. You were exhausted, but the tasks assigned to you were complete and your evening was finally, finally coming to a close.
It was almost 10 o’clock now, and Chuuya had been texting you for the last hour asking if you were almost back yet. You could tell from his tone that he’d gone ahead and started drinking without you. You weighed the options of whether or not to go back to your room and have a quick shower, or just head straight for Chuuya. If I shower now, I still have to get ready, and that’ll take at least –
Your thoughts were cut off by the ping of your cell phone.
Another text from Chuuya.
9:57 p.m. get bavk faster, I miss yuo
You snorted, pocketing your device and deciding on a course of action. He was cute when he was this hammered. You shouldn’t keep him waiting long.
Upon arrival at his door, you paused to smooth out the dress you’d taken the extra five minutes to stop and put on for him, took a deep breath, and knocked on his door in your secret code. He opened it within seconds.
You thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head, the way he was ogling you. You walked in slowly, letting him get a nice eyeful of the way your gown hugged every curve. He lingered on your lower half, your leg exposed by a dangerously high slit. God, he wanted you. He’d been sitting around all night wanting you so badly.
“My eyes are up here, Chuuya,” you teased, and he followed the sound of your voice the rest of the way up. He’d never admit it sober, but damn, he loved you towering over him in heels.
“A-about time you got here,” he muttered, looking away as all the thoughts of you he’d been sitting with flooded back into his brain at once. Was his face flushed or was that just the alcohol talking?
You chuckled, handing him the bottle of his favorite wine that you’d been saving for tonight. From the looks of it, though, he didn’t need to be drinking anymore. He set it on the table by the empty bottle from Mori.
“Happy birthday, handsome,” you said playfully, cupping his jaw as you leaned down to kiss him. “Sorry it took so long to get here.”
Chuuya’s hands roam up your sides, creasing the satiny material draped over your hips and waist as you kiss him. He dives in for a second. And a third. And a fourth. His kisses are quick, but passionate and oh, so needy.
“Gonna make it up to me?”
He walks backward toward the velvet armchair he’d been waiting in all evening, pulling you with him. You hum in response, straddling him as he sits down. Chuuya pulls the fabric of your dress to the side and snakes his hands to your thighs. You’re always so apprehensive to put your weight on him, and it drives him crazy. He wouldn’t tell you to sit down if he didn’t mean it. He scrunches his eyebrows as he sinks his fingers into their perfect plushness, forcefully pulling you down onto his lap.
Much better, he thinks, diving back in to catch your lips on another heated kiss while he fondles you. He slipped a finger under the lacey garter that hid beneath your gown and gave it a snap, causing you to yelp into his mouth, leaning further into him. He sank his teeth into your bottom lip, tugging down as he pulled away. You looked down at him through half-lidded eyes and he smirked.
Chuuya’s hands found their way to your hips. He shifted under you, pressing one leg against your cunt as he pulled you down, looking you square in the eye while guiding your motions.
You wrapped your arms around his neck, knocking his hat off in the process and carding your fingers through his soft hair. His face was trapped, smothered in your bosom, but he couldn’t have been happier. You’d opted to forego your bra, he noticed, as your nipples pebbled through the silky material. Helping himself, Chuuya began mouthing over the fabric, soaking it through with his saliva as his tongue toyed with your nipple.
You squealed when his hands found purchase on that sensitive spot on the back of your leg, stroking gently as he bit down on your sensitive bud and applied additional pressure between your legs. It was all too much. You were certain you were soaked through your panties, as well as the front of his pants.
You wanted him. You wanted to feel him inside you so badly it hurt.
“Chuuya…,” you breathed, begging him to give you more. But that was when you noticed something was amiss.
Usually by this point, you’d feel his cock twitching in his pants, aching to get free.
You sat forward and rolled your hips against him, just to be sure.
Chuuya groaned, but it was not arousal that was carried in his voice — it was frustration.
Pulling back, you looked at him once again. He looked thoroughly disheveled.
“Chuuya?” Your tone shifted, and you looked at him with concern in your eyes. Hesitantly, he met your gaze, and knew that you could tell. His eyes darted away, embarrassed, and fixated on the empty wine bottle.
You followed his gaze, confirming your suspicion. Maybe he shouldn’t have been left to his own devices for so long that evening.
You raked your fingers through his tresses comfortingly, and cupped his jaw in both hands.
“Is everything alright, honey?” you asked, planting a kiss in the center of his forehead.
“‘m fine,” he muttered. He stared down, looking at where you sat atop his lap, at the damp patch you’d left on his thigh. Fuck, that was hot, he thought. Normally by this point he’d be insisting there was no time to bother discarding clothes, and would be coating his cock in your slick, ready to plunge in and watch you come undone more and more with every vicious thrust.
“We don’t have to do this if you don’t want—”
“I want to.” His eyes were immediately back looking into yours. He really, really wanted to. And the intensity of his stare told you exactly that. “Just need to keep trying.”
Chuuya undid his pants, pulling the waistband down to expose his half-erect cock. He gave himself a few weak test strokes, but to no avail. It would work. It had to. While he kept pumping, he wove his other hand through the hair at the nape of your neck, pulling you in for another kiss, in hopes that gumption and tenacity alone would get the blood flowing to his dick the way he wanted.
Uncertain as you were, you kissed him just as fervidly as you had been, and continued grinding down on his thigh, trying to put on a good show for him. You could tell he kept peeking out the corner of his eye to see if there was any progress. Knowing full well that a watched pot would never boil, you attempted to provide him with a distraction in the form of your hands wandering along his torso.
You unbuttoned his shirt halfway, rubbing his chest and moaning into his mouth the way you knew he liked. And oh, it would have been bliss if he were able to properly enjoy it.
You could tell his faith was waning, and he was getting increasingly frustrated by the moment. In a last-ditch effort, you joined your fingers with his, wrapping around his cock to see if it would be more responsive to your touch.
No dice.
He let out a frustrated wail, screwing his eyes shut and throwing his head back against the red velvet.
“Chuuya…”
“I don’t wanna hear it!” he bit back, muttering curses at the empty bottle of wine staring back at him on the table.
You smiled softly at him, leaning in to pepper his face with kisses as you tucked his dick back into his trousers. You shifted your weight forward, leaning into him and resting your head on his shoulder. You raked your fingers through his auburn locks, twirling the ends around your fingers. He pouted, refusing to look you in the eye.
“It happens to everyone,” you reassured, trying to sound as non-patronizing as you could. Still, he scowled.
He knew you were right, and he knew it was his own damn fault for going overboard with the alcohol before you’d even gotten there, but it didn’t make it any less frustrating. He didn’t understand how he could be this horny and still not be hard enough. All he wanted for his birthday was to feel your walls spasming around him, to make you writhe and squirm at his touch, to watch you struggle to keep your volume down and inevitably fail.
“I’m happy just spending time with you, Chuu–“
“Shut up,” he growled. He gripped your hips firmly, pulling you flush against himself.
“What are you – !” You let out a muffled sound of surprise as he cut you off with a heated and sloppy kiss. And before you could fully comprehend what he was doing, he had switched your positions and you now sat in the antique armchair, and Chuuya’s petite frame was leaning over you, brushing your hair forward over your shoulder, never breaking your kiss.
His gloved fingers trailed up to your jaw, gently at first until he pinched your chin between his thumb and index finger, holding you firmly as his lips worked against yours. You could taste the wine on his lips, sure, but he was intoxicating enough on his own.
He swallowed down every sweet whine and whimper you offered, letting you attempt to roll your hips against him, despite his iron grip on your hip. He smirked. If nothing else, seeing you come undone was all the birthday present he needed. He pushed your thigh up over the chair’s arm, bringing you forward in the seat just enough.
When he pulled away from your kiss, you looked back at him through hazy, lust-filled eyes. You looked perfect like this, with your cheeks flushed and your mouth agape. He was hypnotized watching the rise and fall of your chest as you tried to catch your breath.
He leaned in, kissing your forehead before crouching down between your legs.
“Chuuya, what are you doing?” you asked as he bit the hem of his glove, peeling it off with his teeth.
“Havin’ dessert.”
“What—”
“It’s my birthday and I’m gonna make you cum, dammit!” he snarled, hitching your other leg over his shoulder, his nose barely brushing against your clothed slit. You shuddered at the feeling of his hot breath on you.
Chuuya discarded his other glove and pulled your underwear to the side. “Can’t fill you up like I wanna, but I can still show you who this pussy belongs to,” he huffed as he thumbed over your slickened folds. “You good with that?” he looked up at you, his thumb positioned just near your clit enough to make you crazy with anticipation, asking permission before he continued.
You nodded.
The pad of his thumb swiped over your your clit, rolling it in slow, smooth circles, his eyes trained on your face with every motion. This was what he wanted more than anything — watching you fall apart, melting into his touch like you had been before.
He dragged his thumb down through your folds and spread you open, admiring the way your needy hole pleaded for him. He inched closer and closer, teasing your entrance until he could tell from your flushed face that you needed him now.
And, well, who was he to keep you waiting?
His index and middle fingers slid into you with ease, and the lewd sounds coming from you were divine. Fuck, you were so wet for him. Each scissoring motion, each pull and push of his fingers into your cunt had you sighing as he finally gave you a taste of the relief you craved.
He massaged your walls with expert strokes — he truly knew your body inside and out. But he wanted to build this up as much as he could. Chuuya slowly curled his fingers forward, rubbing that soft bundle of nerves inside you that made you cant your hips for him. Something about the look in his eyes told you he was nowhere near picking up the pace. This was just the beginning.
As he worked your tender walls, Chuuya plastered a countless number of kisses along your thigh that was hiked over his shoulder. Some were soft and lingered, others were quick as if eager to cover each inch of you with his love. Then, there were the bites. You couldn’t help squirming when he sank his teeth into you, suckling bruises onto your skin. But no matter how much you mewled or bucked your hips, he held you steady.
He withdrew his fingers and marveled at the gossamer threads connecting them before plunging them into his mouth up to his knuckle, moaning at your sweet taste. He dipped his fingers into you once again, this time working quicker whilst continuing to nibble on your thigh, until he reached your garter, which he took between his teeth and tugged, letting it snap against your skin as he removed his fingers. You cried out, arching your back, and whining at the sudden emptiness.
More, he needed more. And clearly, so did you.
Chuuya gave no warning before diving in, lapping at your pussy as if you were his oasis in the desert. Each slurp made you squeal, and your legs twitched, threatening to snap shut on him like a bear trap. He splayed his palm across your thigh, hiking it higher up the armrest toward your chest and giving himself better access to plunge his tongue deeper into you.
You rolled your hips against him the best that you could, trying desperately to ride his face. And he did allow it for a few minutes, his nose nudging against your clit just right. He loved letting you use him like this, loved seeing you fall to pieces because of him, loved the feeling of your pussy clenching for him, and him alone.
As you approached your climax, Chuuya pushed both your legs up over the arms of the chair, robbing you of your leverage, leaving you completely at his mercy as he wrapped his lips around your clit. He truly pulled out all the stops, alternating between tactful flicks of his tongue, prolonged licks, and slurps while vigorously fingering you until you couldn’t stand it anymore.
You covered your mouth with your forearm, biting down as your body quaked with pleasure and Chuuya worked straight through it. He didn’t let up for even a second until your walls stopped spasming around his fingers.
He released your clit with an obscene pop, and glowered at you.
“What’d ya hold back for?” Chuuya fussed.
You could only answer in heavy breaths and word fragments.
He exhaled. “No matter. ‘m far from done anyway. You’re not allowed to cover your mouth though!” he said pointedly.
You nodded in response, and he resumed his feast.
Everything was a blur after that. Chuuya continued helping himself to your cunt for hours, rarely coming up for air and pushing you to the brink of what you could withstand. You were sore and so sensitive, losing track of how many orgasms your body had been put through somewhere after the fourth or fifth time. When he finally pulled away, the clock read 12:37.
You looked down at Chuuya, on his knees, panting. His hair stuck to his forehead and face was drenched in the results of his hard work, and as exhausted as he was, he licked his lips happily. As your body relaxed, you lowered your legs, groaning at the stiffness in your hips from sitting in that position so long. With your foot on the ground, Chuuya wrapped an arm around your calf and rested his cheek on your thigh as he surveyed the aftermath. You both looked a mess, but Chuuya would argue that you were a masterpiece of a feast well-enjoyed.
You stayed like that for what felt like an eternity, until the post-orgasm fog cleared out of your brains. Chuuya was first to stand, nearly toppling over from the way his knees were asleep. It was ironic, seeing someone with control over gravity itself stumbling about. You cracked a smile as he found his bearings and helped pull you up as well.
He held you close with his hand splayed between your shoulder blades, his fingers toying with your zipper.
“...probably safer if you stay over?” he suggested, flicking the tab between his fingers.
You nodded, and he began slowly tugging it downwards.
“Chuuya,” you halted him, putting your hand on his shoulder.
He froze immediately, looking at you with concern that he’d made a wrong move.
You glanced down, and his eyes followed, not sure what you were pointing out until you pressed against him and he groaned.
Two hours later, he was finally hard.
“...think you got one more round in ya?”

He had to get away. Tommy couldn’t stay another day in this damn house, he felt like he was suffocating. He had to leave, somehow.
All of his things were already packed. The little he had was stored in various bags he had stolen from the attic when the thought of running away had first occurred to him. When he had first realized that he couldn’t stay in this shithole any longer.
Now to think of where. That had been his main concern. Hotels were too expensive, and god knows he didn’t have any friends who would let him stay with them.
Which left him with one option, though he was dreading it.
A few months ago, a new app had been created. A way to book “unique” temporary living arrangements with giants. It was part of some weird initiative to get humans and giants to get along better, and had fully stapled itself to the claims that some humans who lived with giants made about how being eaten could be “relaxing.”
That’s right, as awful an idea as this seemed to Tommy and almost everyone else, there was now a way to book what could qualify as the worlds weirdest airbnb within giants. Literally. Apparently some giants were completely ok with random humans using their organs as a weekend get away, because there were plenty on the app for Tommy to scroll through. And scroll he did.
He had realized a while ago that this may be the cheapest option, and had gone through the website for hours until he had found someone. Early 20s, no criminal record that he could find with a limited google search, good reviews that he could tell were mostly from humans friends that he had, but the man seemed nice enough. He ignored the paranoia that told him that this man was only cheap because he would lure Tommy to his death. That the moment he and Tommy met, it would be over, and he’d be just another missing and forgotten person. Another victim to a random giant where there’d be no proof of his death and nothing to-
No, he couldn’t afford to think like that. This had to work. And, besides, was it really worth still living if he had to be at this house any longer? As much as he hated himself for thinking it, he’d rather let this stranger be the death of him than spend another second with his abusive shit family.
Tommy had messaged him once or twice and had paid him once already just to settle the deal. He ignored the feeling of dread in his gut every time he even thought about the giant, but he couldn’t help but be nervous. After all, this man would be holding his life in him until he got his shit together enough to at least get a job. He didn’t know how long that would be, but he needed to be practically untraceable. He couldn’t risk his family finding him. He couldn’t risk being taken back home.
He sent one final text to the man about where to meet. He knew it was late, but he had warned him in advance that he was probably gonna get a text in the middle of the night, so he slowly crept out of his window and, seeing that the coast was clear, ran, not looking back.
He would never look back.
…
Tommy had arrived at the meetup spot and had been waiting for 30 minutes and, still, no sign of the giant. Ok, now that he thought about it, maybe this did seem a little suspicious. Supposing the giant was a normal ass man, getting a text saying “meet me in an abandoned Tesco parking lot” was a weird thing to receive at 2:45 in the morning. But, again, Tommy was shooting to be untraceable. He couldn’t risk anyone seeing him or his giant. Could he call this stranger “his giant?” Whatever. Tommy knew his family. He didn’t want other people to get hurt, but he couldn’t do this alone. Even if it was a stranger, he needed help.
Tommy just sat and kept thinking, thoughts spiraling into what he would do if the giant never showed up, if he actually had to do this by himself, when the ground began to shake. Tommy quickly stood up and had to strain his neck looking up to see the giant approach. And, holy shit, this fucker was tall.
Tommy had never met a giant before. Hell, almost no humans had. But from what he knew, they shouldn’t be this tall. He felt his knees begin to shake and his palms sweat as he took in the full size and image of the monster that he had hired to eat him. He had fluffy brown hair, wire rimmed glasses and a yellow sweater with a brown puffer jacket on and, weirdly enough, had a mask covering his mouth. He seemed to be hunched over, looking around for what Tommy could only assume to be him, pulling his red-brown beanie further over his head almost nervously. His eyes frantically scanned the empty lot until he found him, where he quickly made his way over as Tommy stumbled back, falling onto the ground and shaking violently from the cold and fear.
“There you are!!” the giant said, “Tommy, right? I’ve been looking all over for you! What were you thinking making this the meetup spot?!”
Tommy could barely speak. It felt like his head had been stuck in a freezer, his throat frozen and his mind muddled and cloudy, unable to form a response. “I-I..it….i- it was c- close…” he whimpered, stumbling back farther. The giant only then seemed to notice Tommy’s fear as he sighed and knelt down, trying to be more eye level as he spoke quieter. “It’s ok, kid. Fuck, you’re younger than I thought you’d be. You mean it’s close to your house, right?” Tommy nodded hesitantly and Wilbur continued. “Thought so. You probably didn’t want to haul your stuff all the way to the giant side. It’s just…i’m not technically allowed to be here.” Tommy looked up at him, confused, his breath slowing and his panic was subsiding now that the giant wasn’t towering over him and scanning the grounds for him like a fucking predator hunting it’s prey. The giant must’ve noticed his confusion, as he continued. “This isn’t a mutual territory. If i get caught here, i could get in a lot of trouble. I tried texting and calling you to tell you, given that humans don’t know a lot about the laws giants have to follow, but you weren’t responding, so i figured i’d just come and make this quick before the cops notice me.” He said. Ah, so that’s what the surgical mask was for. So the cops couldn’t recognize him. He held out a finger to Tommy, and he tried not to think about how this singular finger was taller than his whole body. “I’m Wilbur, by the way, i don’t think i ever introduced myself.” Tommy shuffled closer and grabbed the tip of the finger in an awkward attempt at a handshake. “I-I’m Tommy.”
“As nice as it is to meet you, you seem really nervous. First time?” Tommy nodded again, miraculously feeling less nervous by the second. Something about this guy, maybe his calming voice or how much more human he was than Tommy assumed he’d be, made Tommy trust him.
Or maybe it was the fact that this was the first time in a long time he had been treated with kindness. His family was barely decent to him, so this was a nice change, if an unexpected one.
“First time meeting a giant, actually.” “No offense, I can kind of tell.” Wilbur said, though there was no judgement in his voice. “Y’know, you don’t have to do this now. We could always resched-“ “No!!” Tommy shouted, interrupting the giant. “No, no, I want to, I have to, I’m out of options, please.” At that, Wilbur began to look concerned. “Tommy what do you mean ‘out of options?’ Are you ok? Do you need help?” “This is my help! Sure, maybe I’m a little bit fucking terrified, but i have nowhere else to go. I- I can’t go back, please, please, Wilby.” Tommy finished, the nickname naturally rolling off his tongue like he had known the giant his whole life. Wilbur looked at him with a vague look of concern and pity before bringing one of his giant fingers closer to Tommy’s face. Tommy didn’t even have time to react before it gently swiped across his cheek, wiping away tears he didn’t even know he had shed. “Ok, ok, i’ll help, it’s alright.” He said, giving Tommy a warm smile (he assumed; his eyes scrunched up a little near the outer edges, which seemed like a good sign he was smiling) that only slightly hid the concern still plastered on his face. And though Tommy still couldn’t see most of the aforementioned face, his eyes portrayed everything Tommy needed. Wilbur wore his heart on his sleeve; he liked that.
Tommy could have sobbed in relief as Wilbur’s words fully sunk in. He was going to get away, and the thought of finally being free was enough to drown out any more fears of what was about to happen. Wilbur then reached behind him and grabbed some of his bags, which looked ridiculously minuscule in his hand, as he brought them up to his mouth before pausing. “Do you want to go down first or do you want me to do to do these? For some people, it can be a bit nerve racking to see me swallow something first.” Tommy thought about it, then shook his head. It’s not like he wanted to see his few meager possessions disappear down the throat of a giant, especially knowing he’d have to join them, but he wasn’t gonna chicken out now. He just needed a few seconds to collect himself, and what Wilbur did with his bags in that time was none of his business.
Wilbur calmly lifted the bags back up, all of them at the same time, and slipped them under his mask. Within a few seconds, Tommy saw a vague outline slip down Wilbur’s throat, bobbing his addam’s apple a bit as they descended to where Tommy would be staying for a short while…maybe he should have gone first.
It all reminded him of a nature documentary he had seen on snakes once; he could see the outline of some poor rodent slowly trail down the snake to its final resting place.
Tommy tried not to think about that last part. After all, he’d be fine. He wasn’t prey, not to Wilbur, anyway. To his family…maybe. Not like they mattered anymore, though.
Tommy felt giddy enough at that thought that he stepped forward towards Wilbur as he watched the man press against his midsection gently, presumably to make sure Tommy’s bags had ended up in the right organ. After that confirmation, Wilbur looked back down, setting his hand palm up next to Tommy. “You ready for this, big man?” Tommy grinned at the nickname, at the way Wilbur treated him. Like a person; an equal. He grinned so hard it almost hurt. “Ready as i’ll ever be.”
Tommy felt himself be lifted and watched as Wilbur used his free hand to lift his mask just enough for Tommy to fit under and into his mouth. Tommy quickly found a perch on his lip and tried to climb in the rest of the way himself before realizing holy shit oh prime good fucking god his teeth were sharp. Wilbur made muffled cry of concern as his hand came back up under Tommy as he stumbled a bit. But, after the initial shock of the teeth being way sharper than he thought, Tommy managed to climb in the rest of the way successfully.

August 16th, 10:57-11:24pm
Tweek’s trip to Earth escaped him. He just kept reminding himself of the plan. All he needed was his plan and he would be fine.
He sat on it for centuries. Deciding not to seek Craig out this time hurt endlessly. He’d never had to seek him out, but now he wasn’t going in, ready to look for him like he planned. That alone hurt. It didn’t help that he was at a seriously low point. But he’d rather not see him again then meet him all over and have to leave him.
His eyes fluttered open to see deep green. He was laying below trees. His heart panged as he tried to will away thoughts of the Lost Forest. Or Faery Island. Fuck. He sat up, breathing out a pained sigh. His chest hurt. He didn’t even bother to stand for a minute, trying to figure out a plan. Might as well see if the language is the same first.
He stood up on shaky legs and started walking. He felt drained. Sage eyes were muted. He barely took in his surroundings. The sun was warm against his skin. He looked down to see he was in an olive green t-shirt and black jeans with a pair of sneakers. He’d barely even processed it when he changed. He caught sight of his hands. Five fingers. He wiggled them slightly, stomach churning. He didn’t suddenly hate humanity. He didn’t hate being human. He loved it. He ran a hand through his hair. It was still so soft. His stomach continued to twist violently.
He was not human.
No plans. No connections. No attachments. You do not belong here.
He took a shaky deep breath as he kept walking, eventually exiting the woods. Earth looked so much more urban this time around. Much more similar to Eldoria. They seemed to advance quickly this time around. He passed a church almost immediately once he left the woods. It was nothing like the temple in the Elf Kingdom, but he knew what it was supposed to be. Maybe I’ll check it out.
He walked past it, trying to find a more densely populated area. He walked a few blocks, people eventually popping up. A lady brushed past him, talking on a cellphone in a language he didn’t recognize. Wait. Wait. They got cellphones this time around? His eyes widened in surprise. They were a bit bulky, definitely inconvenient, but also most certainly cellphones.
He pushed the thought to the side, realizing the problem. He had to pick up the language. He sighed. No robbing people. No accidentally getting swept up in other people’s lives. I want to stay alone this time. For my own sake, I need to do that.
He kept walking. He circled a few blocks, trying to get a feel for the area. It wasn’t as warm as the last two times he was there, but it was manageable. After realizing their roads system was easily navigable, he went back towards where there seemed to be a few more people. Luck shined down upon him. He spotted a man and woman fighting. The woman looked afraid. He ignored the fact that she looked vaguely familiar.
He said a silent thank you to whoever was looking out for him and ran over without a second thought. He didn’t hesitate to headbutt the guy as hard as he could. The man dropped to the ground, completely knocked out. “Oh my god, thank you so much!” the woman exclaimed, obviously shaken.
Okay, great. I can understand them. “Yeah, of course.” She raised an eyebrow at him. He tilted his head slightly. “Sorry, can you not understand me?” He could definitely understand her.
“Oh, no! I can. Just, your accent is interesting.”
He gave her a small nod of acknowledgment. “Are you alright, though?”
“Yes. Thank you again!”
“Not a problem. Have a good day.” He spun around and started walking off, now in a much better standing. He was happy he didn’t have to assault an innocent stranger on the street and it was nice to help someone out in the process.
He walked around for a bit until he saw a coffee shop. Earth coffee was always different from what he had at home. He walked in without a second thought. His mistake was not realizing how many options there could possibly be. He looked over the menu and frowned. He was still trying to acclimate to the language and was already overwhelmed. This did not help.
“Too many options?” the guy from behind the counter asked. He had a

Days 5&6 of My Pokémon Yellow Nuzlocke Challenge!
Day 5
We start the day on the southern end of Cerulean City just before we enter Route 5. Now we can get another encounter here that can hopefully help us further (or at least give us more options in case we have anymore losses). Our encounter to start the day is…
Route 5 Encounter—Pidgeotto/Otto
Lv. 17
Hp: 51
Attack: 27
Defense: 24
Speed: 29
Special: 25
Hey! A new bird friend! This one is already evolved and can work pretty well as one of our top back-ups.
Now, we can’t head into Saffron City yet, due to a ditzy guard who didn’t take my earlier advice about staying hydrated and is now making it everyone else’s problem. The path we take to Vermillion is one of the two Underground Paths full of hidden items and nothing else. Let’s see what we can find without looking it up, then look up the locations of all the items and see what we missed. A singular X Special. At least it’s fairly useful. And the stuff I missed was a Full Restore! Okay, might need that!
Exiting the Underground Path lands us in Route 6 where there’s plenty more trainers to battle and another encounter.
Route 6 Encounter—Rattata/Pest-o
Lv. 14
Hp: 34
Attack: 21
Defense: 18
Speed: 28
Special: 13
You know, I’m starting to get a little annoyed with the lack of encounter diversity here. Alas, rules are rules and I had to catch another rat.
I’ve got some trainer battles to look forward to at least! As long as I DON’T get POISONED AGAIN by a dang Weedle!! Little punk deserved to be Peck-ed to oblivion by AngryBoi. Hmph. And now, this Weepinbell is causing issues. Well I ruined your trainer’s date so take that!
I’ll finish this route later as I’ve got some errands to take care of today. Be back soon.
I’m back! Had to help reset our bedroom a bit and put up some shelves so this will end up being a bit of a shorter day but I can still make it pretty productive.
Took down a Cubone with Belle without many problems, but the issue I’m finding is that some of my Pokémon are quickly becoming under-leveled. Might have to do another run of EXP grinding. Yay. So exciting. At least I still have some trainers on this route to eliminate or I’d be in for a really long road.
Made it to Vermillion in one piece, so I’m going to heal, grab the Old Rod next door to the Pokémon Center (not that I’ll use it really, but it provides a guaranteed Magikarp if I feel like I need a Gyarados later), then maybe head to Diglett’s Cave.
Diglett’s Cave Encounter—Diglett/PlowBoy
Lv. 16
Hp: 32
Attack: 23
Defense: 15
Speed: 39
Special: 20
That’s about all I have time for today. Better turn in soon before I get stuck watching videos and scrolling Tumblr all night.
Day 6
So, today we’re going to try to make up for some lost time and blow past some more milestones. First, we grind out some levels. Route 11 has some more trainers and another encounter.
Route 11 Encounter—Drowzee/Mike (if you know, you know)
Lv. 19
Hp: 57
Attack: 27
Defense: 22
Speed: 21
Special: 40
At last, a Psychic type. Drowzee may not be a particularly strong example but in Generation 1 games, Psychic-types are all pretty broken. Nowadays, we have Dark- and Ghost-types and actually decent Bug-types. Not here. Dark-type doesn’t exist yet, Ghost-types were accidentally made completely ineffective against Psychic, and your Bug-type options were both weak and had tiny to completely lacking move pools.
Today could be very productive for the Nuzlocke…or I could focus on more chores around the house and be productive in life. I’m going with “option B” because that one keeps my wife happy.😅
I still have time to keep grinding out levels here and there; right now I’ve got Zippy and Lily both at Lv. 22 and reworked my team to be more versatile overall for the rest of the run. My party heading into the party on the S.S. Anne is as follows:
Zippy-Lv. 22
Lily-Lv. 22
Mike-Lv. 20
PlowBoy-Lv. 16
Belle-Lv. 16
Crispy-Lv. 13
The grind continues on and hopefully it goes a little more smoothly on the ship. I was having some close calls there battling the trainers on Route 11. Like Mike and Zippy were on 1 Hp at a few points and many potions had to be used after a battle in order to survive getting to the Pokémon Center kind of close calls. Lily was a true tanking trooper though! I’m sad I can’t give her any really good moves due to my “no TM’s” rule but I’m not going to change that arbitrarily just because it would be convenient. She should be learning Body Slam soon anyway so not to worry!
In any case, the rest of my team should be getting some absolutely incredible moves soon too to make up for my avoidance of TM’s. PlowBoy the Diglett will get both Slash (critical hits for days with his speed) and Dig; Belle will eventually have Acid as a good Poison move; Crispy will evolve and then get some marvelous moves of his own like Slash, Flamethrower, Fire Spin, and Fly. On top of that, Zippy will finally get Thunderbolt soon enough and be able to crush any Flying- or Water-types with barely a thought.
Oh, and I’m counting the S.S. Anne as a separate location so here’s this:
S.S. Anne Encounter—Magikarp/Karper
Lv. 5
Hp: 17
Attack: 6
Defense: 10
Speed: 14
Special: 7
And with a couple trainer battles, we’ll end today on the ship.

TRACK 9: AMIDST THE PAIN
*Rustle*
“Come on...Open your eyes. Keep them only on me, ‘kay?”
Ayato continues to kiss you passionately.
“Mmh...Nn…”
*Smooch*
“I won’t make it hurt...It’ll only feel good…”
You frown.
[00:31] “Aah…? You’re scared regardless? Hahaha. It’ll be over before you know it once the pleasure kicks in.”
You continue to protest.
“What if you won’t be able to walk anymore, you ask? Good question...Then, I’ll just carry you ‘round instead, Chichinashi. Mmh...Nn…”
*Smooch*
*Rustle rustle*
[01:06] “...Ah. Hah...Fuck...This is startin’ to get seriously dangerous...I’m havin’ a hard time findin’ the strength to twist off your leg as well...Damn...Whatever...I’ll just suck from whichever spot I can reach…Haah...Right. Hahaha...This place might not be half bad…”
*Rustle rustle*
“I haven’t bitten you here yet, have I? ーー Your heart. I’ll give you my fangs here.”
*Cling cling*
*Sluuuuurp*
“I’m sure it’ll be scrumptious…”
You seem skeptical.
[01:57] “Aah? You wanna know if I can even plunge my fangs inside your heart? Fool! I’m gonna thrust them in really deep. Fortunately, I should just barely be able to reach it even with these chains holdin’ me back. If it turns out to be impossible, there’s still the option of twistin’ off your leg regardless. However, I don’t think that’d be enough to calm my anger, so I’ll chop off your hands as well.”
Your eyes widen in fear.
“Hahaha…”
You beg for his mercy.
[02:35] “What? Don’t start cryin’ already when I haven’t even done anythin’ yet. It’s hella annoyin’...I’m sure it’ll feel amazin’ when I suck from your heart. I’m sure you’re happy as well. Not only do you get to experience pleasure, but you’re given a chance to offer something precious to the man you love. You might just rank up from bein’ just prey.”
*Rustle rustle*
[03:06] “Hahaha...You’re shiverin’? Don’t worry. You won’t die even if I suck blood from your heart. Well, it’s fine if you’re scared. Just scoot a lil’ closer. I’ll hold you in my arms. Not that you’re particularly soft or cozy to the touch.”
*Rustle rustle*
“...Here I come. Just entrust everythin’ to me. Relax, and accept my fangs.”
*Rustle*
[03:44] “Exactly...Just like that...I’m goin’ straight for the heart.”
Ayato latches down.
“Hahn...Nn...Hah…Keep still!”
*Cling*
“Succumb to me...and don’t resist!”
*Sluuuurp*
“Mmh...Nn…”
*Gulp*
[04:18] “Hah...Haah, haah...This is bad...What’s with this taste? ...Fuck! Hahn…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Haah, hahn...Mmh…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Hahn...Nn...Nnh…”
*Gulp*
[04:46] “Mmh…Haah, haah...Dammit...At this rate...I might just tear apart your heart with my fangs...But still...I can’t stop…”
*Rustle*
“Hahn−!”
*Gulp gulp*
“Hah…! Chichinashi...You don’t mind, do you?”
You tell him it feels good.
“Hahaha...Exactly. It’s amazin’ for me too…I also feel as if I’m ‘bout to melt...Hahn...Mmh…”
*Gulp*
[05:34] “...Haah? Harder? Hahaha! You damn nympho! Don’t come cryin’ to me afterwards if you lose your mind for real. Hahn…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Hahn...Mmh…”
*Rustle rustle*
“Hahー! Mmh...Nn…”
*Gulp*
[06:08] “...Shit...My stomach’s on fire...I don’t know how to describe this sensation as it coats my tongue...Haah…”
*Rustle*
“The one thing I can say is that your blood really is the best...and somethin’ very special to me. Haah, haah...Exactly...Give me more...More!!”
He continues drinking your blood.
“Hahn…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Mmh...Nn...Hah...Hahn…”
*Gulp*
“Hah…!”
*Rustle*
[07:04] “Oi! Don’t go faintin’ on me now! We have to get rid of these chains to escape this place. It might hurt, but you can push through it, right? ...I’ll give you another intense one. I’ll thrust my fangs all the way in at once, so you won’t be able to feel anythin’ but pure bliss. Okay?”
You nod.
[07:35] “Here it comes...I’ll pierce you even deeper…”
*Rustle*
“Ughーー!!”
Ayato bites you aggressively.
*Gulp gulp*
[07:55] “Hahn...Nn...Don’t thrash ‘bout…! It makes it difficult to suck! Hahn…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Hahn...Nn...Mmh…”
*Gulp*
“Nnh…”
*Gulp*
[08:12] “Hah...Don’t worry...We’re almost there...Just focus on feelin’ my fangs…! Hahn...Mmh…”
*Gulp*
“Hah...Mmh...Haah…”
*Gulp*
“Nn...Nnh...Hahー! Hahn...Haah…”
*CLING*
TRACK 10: THE ULTIMATE BLOODY LOVE (1) ( DEATH ECSTASY)
“Haah, haah...Ugh…”
*Cling cling*
“With this...We’ve finally been freed from these vexin’ chains, huh? Hahaha…”
*Smack smack*
“Oi, Chichinashi. You still alive?”
You whimper.
[00:20] “Hahaha...Guess you no longer feel the pain. Seems like the pleasure was just too intense, you can’t even respond. Oi, Chichinashi. Look this way.”
*Rustle*
“Your face’s a mess.”
You ask him about the chains.
“Haah…? The chains? They came off. It didn’t hurt, did it? Even though realistically speakin’, the pain should have been almost unbearable. Hahaha…”
*Cling*
[00:54] “Ah, speakin’ of which...Reiji did mention once that people lose their ability to experience pain when pushed to their utmost limit. However, I guess the same can’t be said ‘bout pleasure, huh? Humans are seriously fascinatin’...Actually, this might not be a human thing...Chichinashi, you’re the only one who is like this. You’re such a funny chick…
[01:26] Anyway...You’re covered in blood, huh? Well, guess that’s to be expected. You’ve lost all strength in your body as well. Still, while I don’t feel as worked up as before, I’m still thirsty. The fun has only just begun...Thanks to those guys, we’ve got plenty of time on our hands as well.”
*Cling cling*
[01:56] “Hehehe...Guess I should be grateful to them for that at least. ...Say, Chichinashi. We’re in no rush, are we? For starters...It’d be a shame to let this blood gushin’ out go to waste, so I’ll drink it all up.”
*Rustle*
“The heavy scent of your blood…is nearly makin’ me choke… I can’t get enough of it…Haah...It’s makin’ my head spin…”
*Rustle rustle*
[02:31] “Haah...I can’t...The smell is too strong...It seems like it’s meltin’ my brain...Haah...I can’t...think...straight anymore…”
*SPLATTER*
“Fuck...My body’s goin’ numb...Chichinashi...Show me your leg...Haah, haah…”
*Rustle*
[03:10] “Hahaha...Ahahaha! I’m sure this must be quite the horrifying sight from an outsider’s perspective. A blood-covered human female and a Vampire, entertwined in each other’s embrace while bathing in a pool of even more blood...Mmh…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Mm...Nn…”
*Sluuuurp*
[03:46] “Hah...It’s fulfillin’...How do you feel, Chichinashi? I bet you’re happy? I’m covered in your blood from head to toe.”
You fail to reply, merely whimpering in response.
“I guess you’re too happy, you’re at a loss for words? Hahaha...Guess I can’t blame you. I’m sure you’re strugglin’ to even breathe after losin’ so much blood. ...Ah, from the wound...What a waste.”
*Sluuuurp*
[04:29] “I can’t let it go to waste...Mmh…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Nn...Nnh…”
*Rustle*
“Just lappin’ it up with my tongue doesn’t do the trick. I’m sure you feel the same? You want to feel my fangs even more, don’t you?”
*Rustle rustle*
[05:00] “Oi, Chichinashi. Gimme some sort of reaction. ...Did you faint? Come on!”
*Smack smack*
“Fuck…! Guess it can’t be helped. I guess this might wake her up…?”
Ayato bites you.
“Hahn...Mmh…”
*Gulp*
[05:26] “Haah...No use, huh? Did she lose too much blood after all? Hahaha...But I still haven’t had enough. I’m beyond parched...Mm…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Mmh...Nn…”
*Rustle*
“Hahn...Mmh…”
*Gulp*
[05:59] “Hahー! ...Even if I were to suck you dry, I’d become thirsty again soon after. Hahn...Mmh…”
*Gulp*
*Sluuuurp*
“Mmh...Nn…”
*Rustle*
[06:22] “Hah...You finally gave some sort of reaction, huh?”
You mutter something.
“...Aah? What didya say? Speak a lil’ louder!”
*Rustle*
“Fuck...What a pain…”
He leans in close.
“What’s wrong? What did you say?”
You repeat yourself.
[06:49] “Haah…? You want me to kiss you? ...Haah, fine. Didn’t I tell you earlier? I’ll kiss you as many times as you want. Although as you can see, you’ll end up covered in blood as well as a result.”
*Cling cling*
[07:11] “Haah, haah...Well...I guess you don’t give a damn ‘bout that right now. Now that we’ve walked right into their trap, we can’t turn back time, no matter how much we struggle. In that case, we might as well…”
*Rustle*
“Go as far as we can, pushin’ ourselves to the very limit.”
He kisses you.
[07:47] “Hah...Nn...Chichinashi...Stick out your tongue...Yearn for me...Just like I do for you. Mmh...Mm…”
*Smooch*
“Now that we’ve come this far...You can no longer escape me, Chichinashi...Mm…”
*Smooch*
“You can’t even get out of here without me. ...Right. Should I just tear off your arms as well? Hahaha...Mmh…”
*Smooch*
[08:48] “...Seems like you’re quite into this as well, huh? Yeah...Just like that...Crave me...More and more…! Let’s show those guys exactly what kind of relationship we have...You are my prey. Forever. A special one too at that. Right? ...Come on, lemme suck more. That’s the only way we can enjoy ourselves down here. Besides, I’m still thirsty...Hahn…”
*Sluuuurp*
“Mm...Nnh…”
*Rustle*
[09:41] “So sweet...Haah...More…! I need more…! Hahn...Mmh…”
*Sluuuurp*
*Gulp*
“Hah...Nn…”
*Rustle*
[10:00] “I won’t let anyone else have you. Understood? Exactly. Even if you were to die right now, you’d still belong to me. Mmh...Nn…”
*Gulp*
“Nnh...Nn…”
ーー THE END ーー
Translation notes
(1) 吸愛 which is pronounced ‘Kyuu-ai’ is a word often used within the DL franchise, which actually doesn’t exist in the Japanese language. It’s a combination of the characters for ‘to suck (blood)’ and ‘love’. It’s meant to refer to sucking one’s blood as a metaphor for showing your love for someone. I’ve always translated it as ‘bloody love’ myself in the past, so I will again for the sake of consistency.

PROMPT LIST - INEFFABLE HUSBANDS
Are you having a good day? Do you just want me to absolutely ruin it? Great! Send me any combination of numbers 1-75, and I'll tear your heart out!
An angel and a demon are going to learn what my version of hell is. I love these boys, but sometimes you've just got to kick them while they're down. (Will also write angst for Illogical Husbands, if requested.)
Full list of prompts below the cut. Pick some that match, or just send two random numbers!
1. “How much pain do you have to go through before giving up is okay?”
2. “You’re allowed to fall apart a little.”
3. “I hate remembering the mess I used to be because part of me misses it.”
4. “Don’t ever let anyone tell you giving up is easy. Giving up is the hardest thing I ever had to do.”
5. “I’m here. I know that’s not enough, but it’s all I got.”
6. “What’s the point of trying if it just proves that I’ll never be good enough?”
7. “I don’t expect a happy ending. I just want an ending.”
8. “It sucks. Because I want to hate you, but I can’t.”
9. “I wish, just once, you would love me like this — no strings attached.”
10. “It hurts when I realize I’ll never mean that much to someone.”
11. “They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, but my heart just became numb.”
12. “I wanted to believe you thought about me.”
13. “It’s harder when you can’t make yourself cry. When you don’t get to feel the release.”
14. “You’re my best friend. I wish I were yours.”
15. “You made me think I actually mattered.”
16. “I miss being incapable of love.”
17. “I’d rather deny my feelings than have to explain them.”
18. “I pushed you away because you deserve better.”
19. “If you don’t know my options, don’t judge my choices.”
20. “Even when you’re next to me, it feels like you’re miles away.”
21. “I’m sick of missing you when you’re right here.”
22. “I thought I could like it like this.”
23. “You seemed to like me better when I lied.”
24. “Could you stay a little bit longer?”
25. “Tell me you don’t want to leave. Say I’m enough to make you stay. I know it’s not true, but please just say it.”
26. “It was always you, no matter how much I denied it.”
27. “I wasn’t enough for you?” “No, you were too much.”
28. “No one can break your heart if you keep it broken anyway.”
29. “I tried.” “I know, and that was your mistake.”
30. “You’re right: I’m a liar. But you can believe me, just this one time.”
31. “You don’t have to love me.”
32. “If tomorrow comes anyway, will you be there?”
33. “You can’t be here. Not now.”
34. “Sometimes, forever just doesn’t last that long.”
35. “Don’t pretend you missed me.”
36. “Why am I grieving for someone who isn’t even dead?”
37. “How could you stand there and pretend this isn’t your fault?”
38. “Did you ever see me? Or was I just a background character?”
39. “Tell me I’m wrong. Say it. Please.”
40. “Don’t give me that look. Did you really expect things to be different this time?”
41. “I wish you would think of me when I wasn’t right in front of you.”
42. “You can still see the stars in the sky after they’ve burned out. It must be lonely, having no one miss you.”
43. “Could you see me like that, just for a moment? Pretend I mean something to you.”
44. “Hope has only ever failed me.”
45. “The world was a little brighter yesterday, wasn’t it? Everything was brighter without me there.”
46. “I’ll leave, and the world will move on. I just wish I could see it. See how much better everything is when I’m gone.”
47. “It doesn’t matter if you meant it or not. The pain is still real.”
48. “Oh my god, you love her. And she doesn’t love you back. How perfect.”
49. “I wish I could say it gets easier. It doesn’t.”
50. “Do you honestly not see how dysfunctional this family is?”
51. “Kiss me like you’ll never forget me. Then walk away. Why delay the inevitable?”
52. “Suicide doesn’t end the pain; it just passes it on to someone else.”
53. “Pretending to be happy is exhausting.”
54. “Who are you when no one’s watching?”
55. “You’re good at finding things. Find me a reason to stay.”
56. “I was alone with my baby. My own thoughts terrified me. And you never bothered to call.”
57. “The one person who called me when I was at my lowest wasn’t you.”
58. “I keep trying to be a better mother, even when everything I do seems to backfire.”
59. “Why did I even make it home?”
60. “The one day you notice I’m gone, I’m supposed to feel bad for you?”
61. “I know you did the best you could. I just wish you hadn’t stopped.”
62. “Your mind is the darkest place I’ve ever been to.”
63. “No wonder you’re not afraid of the dark. Nothing outside your head could be as scary as what’s inside it.”
64. “I didn’t choose to be an introvert. I did choose to be asocial. I regret nothing.”
65. “I’m not divorcing you. I just need to be away from you for a while.”
66. “It’s been a while since I felt myself turning to ash on the inside. Thanks for walking in and reminding me.”
67. “They don’t actually want me there. I’m tolerated — not welcome. Why don’t you see that?”
68. “Why would I trust anyone else with my baby? I didn’t feel safe. I didn’t feel seen or wanted. And I still don’t.”
69. “How do they manage to still be in their kids’ lives, but you don’t even bother?”
70. “Promise me, when I die, you’ll have me cremated and spread my ashes around a tree. I don’t need an expensive hole in the ground or a rock with my name on it.”
71. “I was drowning right in front of you, and you were too busy to notice.”
72. “I didn’t want to leave because I finally felt like you needed me there. It didn’t last.”
73. “What do you see in me that you hate so much when you see it in yourself?”
74. “I was finally starting to live before you showed up again. And now I see it.”
75. “You looked right at me when you said it. I think you meant every word.”

Saeran’s AE - Good Ending Guide
Day 1: Save here before starting if you want to collect the bad endings. There are two bad endings on Day 1. 00:00 - Strange Meeting (12:00 AM)
I’ll bring Saeran with me for the meeting.
Let’s save that part until Saeyoung returns.
Saeyoung owns all the rights for those drinks, doesn’t he?
Please be safe, Saeyoung.
I have a bad feeling about this.
Do you think the leader of Mint Eye is related to this?
Yeah, we did.
Saeran, my sweet ♡
But first, we should discuss how to save Saeyoung.
Is V still gone?
Something’s fishy…
Make sure to check V’s luggage!
Be careful on your way!
We should keep our eyes on V.
Everything will be alright. (Saeran Heart)$
For some reason, I’m kind of uneasy, too…
What are you doing right now?
I’m nervous, too…
I hope we can take plenty of pictures in the future.
I love you, too.
Story Mode: • Where is V?
• We never fight. I trust Saeran. (Saeran Heart)
Well I did talk a lot.
Maybe it is her…
I know it feels weird, but you must free yourself from your past.
Saeran, don’t you think we should tell them…?
What are you thinking?
Is there anything you know about Saeyoung’s whereabouts?
(Try holding breath just a bit longer.)
V… Why are you doing this?
00:00 - Please Wake Up (12:00 AM)
Chat:
N/A Story Mode: • (Wake up.)
• (Try to wake up.)
• Saeran…
• I held my breath, like you told me.
• I’ll help you out. NOTE: In order to trigger the first bad ending you need to RELOAD your previous save and select ALL the options that aren’t doubtful. Don’t hold your breath. Fall like everyone else. Don’t move when you’re in the hospital.
09:45 - Can We Trust Him? (9:45 AM)
Chat Answers:
I don’t think I can rest, when I think of V…
I’m kind of tired…
Tell me anything you know about V.
Was it a hacker?!
Could it be the secret agency…?
Does that mean we need to be careful about what we talk about?
…Traitor. (Saeran Heart)
Just why would you betray us?
What did you expect? You tricked us.
Prove to us that Saeyoung is alive.
And you are trying to pull Saeran into danger as well! (Saeran Heart)
Are you talking about Rika?
No! He will never do that! (Saeran Heart)
He’s gone again… (Selecting the other option gives a V heart.)
But you can’t let yourself get into this. (Saeran Heart)
I’ll be waiting, my love. (Saeran Heart)
11:23 - Did She Change? (11:23 AM)
Go away, V! (Saeran Heart)
Oh, a bad guy! Time to say hi.
He knew we won’t ever trust him again if he tells us!
Are you still obsessed with Saeran?
And you’ve done horrible things to Saeran.
And you expect me to believe that?
Sounds like you are inviting him into a trap.
You really don’t give up do you?
Fact remains that you are far from normal. (Saeran Heart)
No! Stay away! (Saeran Heart)
Story Mode: • The question is whether you should make (Saeran Heart)
• So… Are you going to go save Saeyoung?
16:05 - Rika And V’s Reunion (4:05 PM)
• Rika!!! You can’t stop our love!!! • Are you here to tell Saeran to leave again? • Do you have any idea how bad she hurt Saeran? (Saeran Heart)
• You should first explain about Rika. (Selecting “How is Saeyoung?” gives you a Saeyoung heart) • Do you know Saeran does not have a family picture like you…? • But Rika’s standing is very different from your mother’s standing… (Saeran Heart) • But what about you? What about your life? (V Heart)
• You do need balance for a relationship as well…
• Are we witnessing the birth of a new savior…? (Saeran Heart)
• It’s the prime minister, isn’t it? (Selecting “Could it be the agency?” gives you a V heart)
• We will save everyone…! • There’s no doubt V, Rika, and the prime minister are in this together… • Yay! Let’s talk! Just the two of us!
17:57 - Rika’s Selfish Happiness (5:57 PM)
• What are you plotting with Saeran’s father?
• I will go with whatever Saeran chooses. (Saeran Heart)
• He might leave by the time the rest of the RFA wakes up.
• But we are always together. (Saeran Heart)
• Are you sure you have reunited with V…?
• So nobody ever saved V… (V Heart)
• Maybe you wanted people to recognize you and tell you it’s okay.
• That’s good, but… V looked desolate.
• What do you really want to become?
• Cough, cough… Calories…
19:11 - Secure Chat Just For us (7:11 PM)
• Hey, we’re back.
• Good job. Now let’s use this room for our chats.
• What? Doesn’t that mean that our enemies are huge?
• Of course you are… We have four bad guys around him…
• That’s right! Let’s go save Saeyoung!
• Then let’s get going! (Saeran Heart) SAVE AFTER THIS CHATROOM Story Mode:
• What if your trauma returns? We should come up with a plan. (Saeran Heart)
• I remember both of them. (Saeran Heart)
I love you, Saeran.
This might turn out to be reckless. (Saeran Heart)
NOTE: RELOAD your previous save AFTER “Secure Chat Just For Us” and choose “Then let’s leave. Let’s leave everything, instead of saving Saeyoung.”, “Yes.”, “I’ll be fine. I want to be happy with you. That’s all I’m asking for.” To trigger the second bad ending.
20:44 - Different Perspectives on the Past (8:44 PM)
Rika…You’re back.
I’m not sure if this is the best time to share this picture.
Do you remember what it was like back then?
Were you happy even without Saeyoung?
I guess you did miss her. You didn’t willingly separate yourself from her. (Saeran Heart)
Family is not something you can replace like objects.
Now I’ll be your family. (Saeran Heart)
You’ll be a great parent, Saeran. (Saeran Heart)
Alike? How?
You are still obsessed with him?
Saeran is not like you. (Saeran Heart)
It feels like you’re inviting us into a trap.
She might make you her prisoner once you get there.
Can’t we stay a bit longer?
Okay.
Story Mode:
Don’t you think we should hear straight to this place at evening?
V provided his apartment to them? I can see where this is going.
V would’ve thought everything by himself, made incomprehensible choices, and later on told us it was for the sake of everyone.
It’s the agency! They decided to attack since everyone’s asleep!
21:56 - Unbelievably Peaceful Chit-Chat (9:56 PM) • V…? What brings you back here?
• How come you own that place?
• Did you get scammed by any chance?!
• I’d thought you plotted it.
• I think it’s fake news…
• But the prime minister and the agency are attacking the RFA. And you two are affiliated wit them.
• Jumin will beyond shocked once he wakes up… (Jumin Heart)
• That’s where the root of all evil was cultivated…?
• You brought someone else to that apartment?
I’m so glad Jumin did not turn out like either of you.
A dark magician!
Do you think this news will be highly detrimental to C&R?
It’s not a good thing to play deaf to what you should be responsible of.
Can’t you give me one last clue about the address?
If only Jumin did not fall asleep…
One day you will pay for all this. Story Mode:
What is this place…? 23:05 - The Most Important Thing (11:05 PM)
• Saeran? You’re gone.
• I’m fine. When I’m with you, my joy outshines my fatigue. (Saeran Heart)
• Why not break through the windows?
• What do you think will happen to us tomorrow…? (Saeran Heart)
• I hope by tomorrow, at least one of them would be awake.
• Regardless of truth, media are turning the Chairman and Saeyoung into bad men… It’s not fair.
• Do you think the other members of the RFA will be caught in trouble as well?
• They’d be shocked mostly by the fact that we came here without safety measures.
• But I chose to come with you. (Saeran Heart)
• Yes. Because we will never stop loving each other. (Saeran Heart)
• You are also important to me, Saeran. (Saeran Heart)
• Please be safe, my darling. (Saeran Heart)
Day 2: There are two bad endings on Day 2.
00:23 - Unexpected Guest (12:23 AM)
• Saeyoung?!
• How did you get in here?
• Saeran! We have an intruder!
• Let’s find out what we can from him!
• Are you here to hack this room and spy on us?
• Do you know Saeyoung?
• Charlie the 3rd?
• Is Saeyoung safe?
• Is Saeyoung in mortal danger?
• Are you going to tell the agency about this secure chatroom…?
• Tell us something! Anything is fine!
• I think you were…
• No! Please, help us! (Saeran Heart)
• My heart breaks whenever I think about what you’ve gone through, Saeran… (Saeran Heart)
• And you will make that promise come true. (Saeran Heart)
• Are you telling him to instead save himself?
• But we don’t want to spend the rest of our lives running.
• Are you going to report everything form this chatroom to your agency?
• But let’s not give up! (Saeran Heart)
• No, I’m gonna wait for you! (Saeran Heart) Story Mode: N/A
02:22 - How to Use Vanderwood (2:22 AM) • Is that why you wanted us to log in at the same time?
• I don’t think that guy is very thorough with his job.
• Vanderwood betrayed the agency! Like this? (Saeran Heart)
• What if he’s stupid? What if he already handed the phone…?
• I know you said that because you care for us…Thank you for that. (Saeran Heart)
• That’s right. He might help us once he hears you. (Saeran Heart)
• And it was all because Rika brainwashed you to hate him.
• I’m sure Saeyoung was also manipulated by false information. (Saeyoung Heart)
• It must have been awful after you two got separated… (Saeran Heart)
• Back then you were not ready to stand on your own.
• I’m also getting this strong feeling that we must go save Saeyoung. (Saeran Heart)
• I also had a feeling they are close.
• Please help up just once, Vanderwood! I know you’re a good guy! (Saeran Heart) • And a good exception will manifest as hope for some people… (Saeran Heart)
• Please!!!!! (Saeran Heart)
• Nah, you’re the only one who thinks I’m an angel lol.
• Yeah, and now let’s get busy with our part of the job!
08:00 - Zen is Awake! (8:00 AM)
• Zen!! Are you awake??
• I’m just grateful you are awake.
Maybe Saeran and I shouldn’t have left. (Saeran Heart)
Could ou please report it to the media?
That’s right! Bring it on, both of you! I have Zen to back me up! (Zen Heart)
Not yet… It might be a trap, but we’re gonna give it a try.
It turned out the agency is part of this…
Don’t be disappointed with yourself. Stay positive and support us!
Thanks for trying to look out for us…
Okay. Now we are going to save Saeyoung. Wish us luck. SAVE AFTER THIS CHATROOM Story Mode:
Yeah. Are you?
Yes. I am not letting you go by yourself.
Are you the boss of the secret agency?
We were told you will be in mortal danger, unless we find this place by the end of the day.
What kind of deal did you make with Rika?
You mean you’ll send them to Rika?
You want them to live caged lives, only to be released from their cage when the prime minister needs them? That’s so mean.
Saeyoung… You’re sacrificing yourself to save us…
But we cannot leave you here, Saeyoung. (Saeyoung Heart)
We don’t have a choice. There’s nothing we can do right now… NOTE: RELOAD your save after “Zen is Awake!” and choose “This seems familiar…”, “You can go ahead…”, and “Okay.” To trigger the third bad ending. 09:45 - Vanderwood’s Suggestion (9:45 AM)
• Vanderwood?
• Are you here to help us?
• How do we know this isn’t a trap?
• Your agency is a nightmare.
• But won’t you get in trouble as well?
Story Mode:
• What do we do now?
• But he just won’t care for himself.
• Do you think we can trust Vanderwood?
• Let’s do that. For some reason I have a good feeling about this.
• Let’s put our faith in him. We’re not leaving without Saeyoung.
11:37 - Saeyoung is with Rika (11:37 AM)
• Why are you here?
• Is it because you were scared of seeing Zen?
• He wanted to see his brother…
• You kidnapped Saeyoung?!
• Poor Saeyoung… He was manipulated… (Saeyoung Heart)
• I will never forgive the agency.
• But the prime minister might betray you.
• What drug?
Story Mode:
• Saeyoung told the agency about the top secret at C&R, right?
• Are you sure we can trust you?
• Is it to put him to sleep?
• I have to be away from Saeran? I don’t like this…
• Why would you do that? That’s exactly what happens in movies before a couple is split up permanently.
• I’m scared…
• …Why don’t we go back to he hospital and discuss this once everyone is awake? At least now we know where Saeyoung is. (Saeran Heart)
• Why don’t we go back to C&R and talk to the head of the intelligent unit?
• …No. We’re in this together, no matter how dangerous. I’m sure there’s something I can help with. (Saeran Heart)
• I’m going to keep you safe, Saeran.
13:15 - Jumin Han is Here (1:15 PM)
• Rika has Saeyoung. :’(
• Sorry. I can’t tell you on this messenger. (Jumin Heart)
• Wow! I knew you’d be fit! (Zen Heart)
• I bet you felt betrayed by V…
• On a scale of 0 to 10, how great is your pain?
• Is your father really reacted to the SEVENSTAR drink?
• You mean you might lose your job?!
• He didn’t betray us. He’s become his father’s puppet to protect Saeran. (Saeyoung Heart)
Did you hear anything from Saeran?
What’s your secret?
But you must have an emergency plan or something.
I understand… You have lost so much trying to help Saeyoung and Saeran.
But if you put yourself in his shoes, you’d see why he’s so dazed. (Jumin Heart)
Let me know once you hear something from Saeran.
NOTE: RELOAD after the story mode “Unexpected Guest” and choose options that insult/doubt Vanderwood. Do not agree to let Vanderwood help you. Doing so will trigger the fourth bad ending.
Story Mode:
Where is Saeran right now?
What do you mean, you lost the other one? Are you talking about Saeran?
Why did you bring me here?
You tricked me…! I never should have trusted you. (Saeran Heart)
15:33 - Vanderwood in Trouble (3:33 PM)
• You tricked me! (Saeran Heart)
• Whose side are you on?
• Couldn’t you let both of us go?
• What do you mean?
• What happens if you get caught…?
• Admit it - you’re a nice person.
• But it’s adorable… I really want to see Saeyoung smile again. (Saeyoung Heart)
• You’re returning the phone? You ARE a nice person!
• Run… And survive!
Story Mode:
• I hope Vanderwood will be alright.
• Saeran will never give up…
• You are simply trying to make your dream come true. And you joined with bad guys to do that. (Saeran Heart)
• RFA might expose everything about you…
18:00 - Rika’s Request (6:00 PM)
• Jumin, cheer up…
• They’re not coming. They know this messenger is being monitored…
• Don’t you feel guilty?
• Yeah, unlike you. (Saeran Heart)
• You were a great actress, playing a representative of RFA with such good people. (Saeran Heart)
• But do you really need those twins to have a happy family?
• But you cannot decide how they will find happiness in their lives. (Saeran Heart)
• …I believe Saeran will save Saeyoung. (Saeran Heart)
• Saeran, if you read this… Don’t ever give up. (Saeran Heart)
• Just who led Saeyoung to the agency in the first place?
• Do you feel anything about the RFA the way you used to?
• Jumin will feel so betrayed. You were his friend. (Jumin Heart)
• Just because you say sorry doesn’t mean you’re forgiven. (Saeran Heart)
• Saeran… I’m okay. So don’t give up. (Saeran Heart)
V… Does that mean I cannot stay with Saeran?
Thank you, V. (V Heart)
V… Are you really okay with everything going on?
19:23 - RFA in the Corner (7:23 PM)
• I’m waiting for Saeran.
• You took that gas again?!
• Maybe it’s a bluff…
• Well, it’s not a perfect time for him to chat…
• I feel so bad for the twins… :’( • The agency is no easy opponent…
• And we have no way to prove that we’re the good guys… :’(
• That was a very brave thing to do, to keep the damage as little as possible…
• … (No talking on the messenger!)
• How is Elizabeth 3rd? (Jumin Heart)
• Maybe we should do that… Behind her back…
• We should stay away from the messenger, Zen!
• Calm down, Zen.
• As soon as you do that he’ll be knocked out again from the truth.
• It’s okay. Don’t worry.
• Vanderwood? Story Mode:
• Do you think Saeran will be here?
• (Look behind.)
• Okay, okay… Just calm down.
• But you won’t be happy if someone tries to control your life, will you?
• Saeyoung…? Are you awake?
• But he needs you, too…
• …Tell me.
• But how? You don’t have the right equipment for the job.
• I’m scared. That phone is the only tool you have, and Rika is even injecting you with a drug…
• V, please… You have to help us.
• V, you know this isn’t the answer.
21:02 - Why We Need Saeran (9:02 PM) • You are so cold-blooded!
• Until when will the agent attack the RFA?
• Do you think he’s watching the messenger?
• Are you going to tell him to be silent and come find you…?
• He will never give up… Not while he’s alive.
• The problem lies with the life in a box you’re trying to offer, not Saeyoung. (Saeran Heart)
But I don’t want to leave Saeran! (Saeran Heart)
• This is too cruel… Finding this place will be an ordeal cruel enough…
• What are you gonna do now? Story Mode: N/A 23:13 - Did RFA Give Up? (11:13 PM)
Did you hear anything from Saeran? (Saeran Heart)
You’ve made an excellent choice. (Saeran Heart)
I feel bad for you, Zen… (Zen Heart)
Is there really nothing else we can do…?
Please stay healthy, Zen. (Zen Heart)
But we need Saeran here first.
:’(
Story Mode: N/A
Day 3:
01:02 - Rika Wants Saeran (1:02 AM)
• The RFA won’t be using this messenger anymore…
• They suffered a lot regarding this matter.
• The agency is the biggest problem. They’re keeping the truth locked.
• You might think it’s protection, but it might be obsession or dependence.
• I wonder where Saeran is right now. (Saeran Heart)
• Maybe later.
• No thanks lol. Story Mode: N/A
06:04 - A Ticket Unused (6:04 AM)
• Saeran!!
• Are you safe?
• Are you really coming here?
• I love you, too! (Saeran Heart) • You should be happy with me.
• Why would you say that? I’m scared… (Saeran Heart)
• You’re gonna be here?
• But right now, we have to focus on surviving…
• Okay… I’ll remember that.
• Great! But… Does this mean I get to travel without you?
• Okay… I’ll stay awake and wait.
Story Mode:
I’ve missed you…
(Munch, munch)
If you keep making fun of me, you’ll pay for it…
No, we deserve to be happy.
08:51 - Saeran is Here (8:51 AM)
• Saeran! But this channel isn’t secure…!
• Rika… Please let Saeran in…
• What took you so long?
• I think they are putting him under a drug… :’(
• We should be true to ourselves… Regardless of where we are. (Saeran Heart)
• But now RFA has nothing to do with you…
• I bet Rika doesn’t want to remember it…

• Are you avoiding the subject, Rika?
• Once we reunited, I never want to part with you…
• What freedom?
• You don’t want to repeat your past.
• But Rika wouldn’t like that. (Saeran Heart)
• You hate Rika and V, don’t you? (Saeran Heart) • Okay, if that is what you choose… (Saeran Heart)
• I’ll be waiting. Story Mode:

• It must have been shocking and sad… (Saeran Heart) • Saeran… One day you’ll be free, and we’ll be happy together. Right? (Saeran Heart)
• Only me and Saeyoung? What about you? (Saeran Heart) • What do you mean you’ll stay here…? Tell me…!
• Why?
• RFA didn’t give up on you and Saeyoung…!
• So did you make it…?
• It’s too dangerous…! Please, think again. (Saeran Heart)
• No, let me distract them! You should get out of here with Saeyoung.
• If Saeyoung brings down the agency in time, will I be able to save you?
• …
• This is so sad
12:48 - Weight of the Past (12:48 PM)
• I’m so sad…
• And you left Saeran like this…?
• Hi, Saeran…
• Can I have your voice instead?
• Did you have to go this far…?
• Saeran decided to leave past in the past… (Saeran Heart)
• It’s a good thing you left Magenta… But Rika must have been in pain.
Saeran changed himself. I can’t change him. (Saeran Heart)
Trying to repeat a happy past can sometimes serve as greed…
She’s not mad is she?
You should reconsider what you said earlier… (Saeran Heart) Story Mode: N/A
14:07 - It Will Hurt, But We Will Be Happy (2:07 PM)
Saeran! This is our love channel!
Do we have to do this…? I’m scared. (Saeran Heart)

Do you think they’ll get distracted?
But I don’t think I can live without you… (Saeran Heart)
Please don’t leave me.

17:55 - I Promise You Will Be Happy (5:55 PM)

• What should we do now?
• Are we the only ones that about this room?

I’m sad, too… Is there really no other way? (Saeran Heart)
Clouds? Why clouds?
So your freedom was limited since childhood…
Can’t you let me stay here with Saeyoung? (Saeran Heart)
This is so sad… I don’t want to leave you.
I was so happy I could meet them… (Saeran Heart)
If you love me, why are you making me sad? (Saeran Heart)
Let’s think about a way to keep you safe.

• I’m glad things loosened up.
Saeran is my love. (Saeran Heart)
Please don’t stab Saeran’s eyes before you leave. (Saeran Heart)
Whatever happens, I hope you’d be happy, Rika.
I think I need someone to cleanse my head, too… It needs a shelter…
Unlike his father…
If that’s what you want, you must one day take responsibility for the Mint Eye…
I’m glad I got to meet all of you.
Rika hurt your eyes, didn’t she?
How long do you think this happiness will last…? (Saeran Heart)
Do you think her hope is real?
Is it related to Saeran…?
It’s okay. Saeran is strong. He can handle anything. (Saeran Heart)

• What did you guys talk about?
• The death of their mother?

• You are pretending to be nice to return to your happy past…
• You can’t do this to him… You’re forcing him to live with his mother’s killer.
• We must find Saeran! He must be in pain… (Saeran Heart)
At least you didn’t wait any longer to tell him…
You would still feel painful…
But that does not justify a murder.
He didn’t talk to me, either…
You have until 11 to make it there…
I’m so disappointed in both of you… My heart is breaking.
Saeran, are you okay?
Story Mode:
• I don’t want to go…

What press conference?
Thank you, everyone.

• You guys have such cute nicknames for each other.
• You mean Yoosung?
Looks like you have a lost of history with the agency…
Come on, let’s be friendly.
Do you think Rika and V are not aware of this?
I really hope Saeran is safe…
That’s what I heard…
I’m fine with anything, as long as we don’t have to exchange Saeyoung for Saeran.
I really hope that’d be the case…
Is there really no master key to get us out of this house of trouble…?
I hope Saeran is okay…
You kicked him out…
I hope he can find a miracle for us…
Okay…

• Yoosung, are you okay?
• If you get to see Rika again, what would you tell her?
• Like me and Saeran?
• Welcome, Jumin.
We can beat them. I’m not alone.
Do you think sweet and sour can work without each other…?
Please, go ahead.
But some people become stars without darkness of the past…
Yeah, but it won’t be easy reaching the ‘absolute’ level.
So was Ray… He was afraid of breaking free from Mint Eye.
Life.
And from imprisonment to freedom…
That we are all responsible for our reality…
It’s so good to share a lot of meaningful stuff for once!
Thank you for your sermon…
Let’s not lose ourselves and do our best at what we can!
Whatever it’s about, good luck!
We won’t be lonely if we’re together.
Hopefully we’ll soon get to eat with Saeran…
He is… He’ll be okay.
SAVE AFTER THIS CHATROOM Story Mode:
• Where is Saeran?
• (Embrace Rika) • But now you will change, won’t you…?

The Final Episode
• Saeran!
• Please stay alive. I’ll be there!
• He’s gotta be somewhere around here! I can feel it.
• He’s around here. I know it.
• I must go…
• (Leave the rest and run.) • Saeran… Please don’t go.
• I love you.
• Now you should be happy with me…
• Wake up!
• Pity. I feel pity when I see how far you’re going.
Saeran and Saeyoung simply wanted to protected each other. They never meant to cause you any harm or trouble.
… Your lonely heart is creating enemies for you. Don’t you feel painful?
Saeran will forgive you… But you’ll never know what he feels until death.
You will pay for what you’ve done.
I’m sure you had something that pained you in the past. That must be why you locked up your heart and opted for cruelty.
But can’t you see…? The only thing you can get from cruelty after cruelty is solitude.
Does survival matter that much to you? Even if you have to be forever alone?
You must be so lonely.
We must get him to a hospital!
Saeran, hang in there!
Saeyoung, please. Calm yourself.
Hopefully Saeran will wake up soon…
…But Saeran forgave him.
Okay. I’ll let you know once he wakes up.
Saeran? You were listening!
What is it?
Are you saying he’s RIGHT HERE?
Saejoong Choi…!
Why did you find Saeran again?
Did you have a change of heart?
You’ve made it!

Saeran AE Good Ending Choice Walkthrough
Hello everyone! I’ve decided to share the walkthrough on Tumblr as well, because I received a message about reddit being blocked in some countries! I wasn’t aware! So here! Cheers!
I've since edited the guide to include some the Sad Endings, Bad Endings, Normal Ending, as well as the good ending. Currently this guide sits at 9/10 total endings for Saeran's AE. I've included chat times, save locations, as well as choices. If anyone complies the guide and shares it elsewhere, I'd appreciate a shoutout as this took some time! Feel free to @me anywhere as Ririkutai <3
The way to get Bad Ending 1 is by taking Rika's side and not wanting to leave Saeran's side. The trigger lies somewhere between day 2-3, but I'm uncertain of the specifics.
Cheers!
Day 1:
There are two sad endings on this day!

Hi guys! This post has content warnings for the following: suicide, incest, abortion, politics, and swearing. I've tagged this post for all of the above, so you should add one or all of them to your blocked tags if you don't want to see it. Stay safe friends!
@arists started a conversation with me on this post. I'm making my own post now so that I don't clog up op's notifications with our discussion. I'll post the relevant screenshots here, but I'm including the link so that you can fact check what happened if you want.
#1 (op's post)
Image Description: "A screenshot of a twitter thread. Sarah Chavez writes, 'It's not hard to see what a pro-life world looks like. It looks like a world with a lot of dead women in it." An article is linked, but the url is cut off. Emily Gould replies to the first tweet, saying, '"Amnesty International reports that suicide now accounts for 57 percent of deaths of pregnant femals ages 10-19 in El Salvador." That's what a "culture of life" looks like.'"
#2 (in the notes of op's post)
Image Description: "granny-griffin replies, 'This. Suicide is an evil we have to prevent. But murder is NEVER the answer. I'm not sure how it even became a viable option. We need a better solution.'"
(note that there is a significant time gap between images #2 and #3)
#3
Image Description: "arists replies, '@granny-griffin the only other "solution" is mandatory vasectomies on males but good luck telling men what you want to force onto their bodies. ntm abortion at 6 weeks isn't fucking murder but science doesn't fucking matter to you.' Then granny-griffin replies, '@arists if you want to start a conversation, then I'm happy to talk! you can dm me or whatever! But if you're just angry, then I'm glad you found an outlet and I hope you feel better soon'"
#4
Image Description: "arists replies, '@granny-griffin go start a conversation with the women of texas' Then granny-griffin replies, '@arists I mean. I am a woman living in texas so that should be pretty easy. I'll try to do that sometime soon! It's always helpful to me to hear other people's perspectives on important issues'"
#5
Image Description: "arists replies '@granny-griffin so you're a traitor then? when you see little girls being forced to birth a product of incest you feel better about yourself? you see women who have a dead baby in their body forced to cary to full at the risk of her life and think "nice job me!!" And you've probably never adopted with makes it even funnier. youre an embodiment ignorance and selfishness.'"
#6 (private message between arists and granny-griffin)
Image Description: "granny-griffin says, 'hey I really. don't want to fight you. I know that you're upset. I think we both want to help women in vulnerable situations, we just have different ideas of how that should work out practically.' In a second text, granny-griffin continues, 'If you need to keep venting, you should do it here. That way if you say something you might regret, it won't be in public'"
#7
Image Description: "arists sends three messages. The first one says, 'I'm not venting I'm saying it how it is' The second one says, 'I've dealt with ill-minded christians like you my entire life I know your strategy' The third one says, 'now go back to the post because I refuse to deal with you behind doors so you can appear "holier than thou" by putting on a fake image'"
#8
Image Description: "granny-griffin sends seven messages. The first one says, 'ok we can do this in public' The second one says 'give me until tonight though I've got school' The third one says 'do you care if I make a separate post? I'll copy all the previous stuff from our conversation and the main post' The fourth one says, 'I just don't want to have a whole conversation on op's thread' The fifth one says, 'it would feel disrespectful almost?' The sixth one says, 'like they have their whole point and I don't want to completely de-rail them' The seventh one says, 'but if you aren't cool with moving them then I can come to wherever is comfortable to you'"
#9
Image Description: "arists says, 'go ahead'"
to preface—airsts I'm still not totally sure what you want out of this. You aren't obligated to respond to anything I say—just like I'm not obligated to respond to you. We don't know each other, and this is kind of an unfortunate way for us to meet. Still, I hope we can have a productive conversation going forward. I'll go through everything and ask questions. You can respond to as many or as few of them as you want.
#3:
The only other solution to what—suicide? unwanted pregnancy? incest? Is that really the only other solution? What are some policies you would like to see implemented to deal with each of these?
How do you define murder? How do you define what a human life is? Are there particular scientific facts or theories you make use of in your definition? If you have time, please either explain them, or reference an article/book/other source that does. I would like to learn! But I understand that fact checking is a lot of work so if you're too busy I understand.
#4:
(A note here—my knowledge of the situation is not as thorough as I would like it to be, but from what I know I'm not satisfied with the way abortion restrictions are being implemented in Texas. What are we doing—reporting each other to the secret police or something? Notifying the authorities of a crime is one thing, but why is there a finder's fee? Why are we sueing each other? This kind of thing will only breed corruption and mistrust.)
#5:
Huh, what am I a traitor to? Women? Is there a point of view that is specifically the "pro-women" point of view? Traitor makes this sound like a war—are there sides? are there good and bad guys? Who gets to define all of this?
No, I don't like it when girls are forced to birth a child conceived in incest. What are some ways that this situation could be prevented? Do you think that easy abortion access could ever perpetuate abuse by allowing abusers to get rid of the evidence of their actions? Is providing abortion services to victims of incest worth this risk? (and I mean that as a legitimate question, not a leading question)
(Another note here—I am pretty sure children who die in the womb can still be born naturally (hence the term "still-born"). But again, my knowledge here is limited and my issue with abortion is largely because of the harm it does to the child. If the child is dead already, and abortion is the only way to remove them, then I don't have a problem with this.)
Do you think adoption is the only way to take care of vulnerable children? Did you know that people who adopt sometimes need help raising funds to do so, or need help with babysitting, or need meals made and chores done for them? Did you know that mothers who raise their own children need these things too? Is this an attack on my argument, or an attack on me (ad hominem)?
#7
Sorry to assume you were venting—I should have asked what your purpose was instead of making assumptions.
Okay but do please tell me—what is my strategy? I am curious to hear your psychoanalysis of me and my goals.
Arists, I'm really sorry if I came off as "holier than thou." I'm not a better person than you. I know that I think I'm right—everybody does. But I do want to be open to hearing and learning from your perspective. Even if you don't change my mind, you can increase my empathy, and that's extremely valuable to me.
okay, that’s it! I’ll wait for your response!

across the world (lucas wong, dong sicheng/winwin)
pairing: lucas x reader, sicheng/winwin x reader
genre: angst, fluff, flangst. friends to lovers, college!au, dancer!sicheng, relationships and heartbreak
summary: You always thought a piece of your heart would belong to Sicheng, your first love, who ended things when he moved overseas. In the end, though, there’s nothing across the world except for a boy you used to know.
word count: 4.6k
warnings: cussing
a/n: see y’all next month for the last part, feel free to yell at me so i finish writing it sooner (p.s. peep the hamilton reference)
part 1 | part 2 | part 3
this can be read as a standalone, but is part 2 in the on top of the world series. crossposted on ao3 here!
CHARLOTTE, NC
Charlotte Douglas International Airport, 1:42 p.m.
“Is this goodbye?” Sicheng murmurs, hugging you tighter. You strain to hear him amidst the hustle and bustle of the airport.
“I guess it is.” He’s leaving for Korea, pursuing his ambitious dance dreams. You’re staying in the states and starting college soon. There’s no time for an international relationship in either of your lives.
It’s cruel, you think, that the heartbreak from your first love will have been so worth it, that you’d have to live through the “right person, wrong time” so soon.
You nod, once. “Ah. Well. Bye.”
“We’re really over? We’re—officially breaking up?”
The words cut like a knife, but you try to stay strong for Sicheng’s sake. “Yeah,” is all you can manage without breaking down. “I guess we are.”
“Okay.”
So this is how it ends, you think. “Go and conquer the dance world.”
“I will. I—I really love you. I’m gonna miss you.”
“I love you too, Sicheng. You should go.”
“Ok.” He hoists up his backpack and raises his suitcase handle. “I—goodbye.”
“Bye.”
He starts toward the security line after some initial hesitation, flanked by his parents on either side. Trailing behind right before stopping, he turns back one last time, waving a final farewell.
After he’s gone, Lucas pats you on the back, Giselle hugs you tighter, and Ningning lets you cry into her shoulder. It helps, and it just barely holds you together as your world falls apart.
Home, 11:49 a.m.
You feel hollow.
Exactly six weeks before you leave for college, Sicheng does a routine call in the sliver of free time he has, sandwiched between his classes for the day. You’re still struggling through your acceptance of the change that was bound to happen, spending your days with your friends while you still have time. Though you’ve thrown yourself into living without him, seeing his face feels like a punch in the gut.
Even though he’s across the world, you let yourself forget for a moment, but you can’t pretend any longer when he hangs up.
Today was supposed to be your three month anniversary.
You turn down Yangyang’s invitation to skateboard and cry into your pillow.
Today was supposed to be your three month anniversary, but all you’re left with is a broken heart that Sicheng still holds.
ATLANTA, GA, FRESHMAN YEAR
Turman Hall, 11 a.m.
“Hey. How’d you like your first week?”
You spit out your toothpaste, holding up a finger and motioning for him to wait as you rinse.
“It was okay,” you say. “I haven’t really made new friends yet. I’ve, uh, hung out with a few people though, and Lucas and Giselle are in some of my classes.” Some water droplets spray out from a splash of water, and you wince a little at how low the dorm’s sinks are.
“Have you talked to the people on your floor?”
“Yeah, they’re cool. I’m pretty happy here, I think I just need more time to get to know people better,” you shrug. “Anyways. How are you?”
“It’s going pretty well. Someone from New York joined earlier this week, so she’s kind of in the same boat as me, except she’s Korean.” He’s about to continue when he yawns, words growing incomprehensible.
“You should sleep soon. When are you getting up tomorrow?”
“Late enough. I probably should, though.”
“Then why’d you call? Go to sleep, Sicheng.”
“I wanted to see you, is that really a crime?” He yawns again. “Well then. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
You know you’ll only get hurt in the long run, but that doesn’t stop you from texting him to set up another time to call once you know he’s asleep.
Turman Hall, 12:15 p.m.
Sicheng cancels a Facetime he scheduled earlier in the week, too tired to call after a grueling practice. It’s the first time he’s done so, and you knew he was going to get too busy for you eventually, but it still breaks your heart.
You’re staring at your laptop when a tidal wave of loneliness pulls you under. You miss Sicheng, but you also miss the rest of your high school friends, your parents, and the simplicity of life before college.
Just as you’re about to text him, Lucas calls you.
“Hey, what’s up?”
“Yooo,” he greets. “Are you still coming to the student center?”
“Yeah, I was about to head out. Why’d you call?”
“You weren’t responding.”
You pause, a wave of tears suddenly welling up. “Thank you, Lucas,” you say, voice steady enough to avoid suspicion. “I’ll be there in 10.”
“Yeah, see you then.”
The loneliness doesn’t fade, but it doesn’t weigh as heavily anymore.
Turman Hall, 7:14 p.m.
You’re pulling on your shoes, about to head out to meet with Winter at a nearby restaurant, when Sicheng calls you. After a bit of hesitation, you reason it won’t take long and pick up.
“Hey.”
“Hey,” Sicheng says, hair sweaty and face shining. “I’m on break right now. How are you?”
“I’m doing alright. Why’d you call?” you ask. He almost never calls during his breaks. “Isn’t it busy there?”
“I felt lonely,” he says, and you’re not sure why it hurts to hear that was the only reason. “Is anything interesting happening?”
“Uh.” It’s been a while since he last called, and you forget what you’ve told him already. “Well, Karina’s been encouraging me to rush next semester. I’m not sure if I want to do it, though.”
“That sounds really fun. You could meet some new people there.”
“Yeah, but it seems really time consuming, and I’ve made friends already. I just—”
“If you want to try it, I don’t see why not.”
“Yes, I just don’t know if I can handle it on top of my classes.”
“You need to decide what you want,” he says, and you blink, startled by his sudden outburst. Your first instinct is to apologize, but you have nothing to be sorry for, and you wonder if something major or stressful happened recently.
“I have been,” you mumble, trying not to sound defensive. “I declared my major last week, the joint bachelor’s and master’s thing here. I talked to my advisor about it and I’m trying to graduate in four years. I have a plan.”
“Oh.” He pauses, head tilting. “You didn’t tell me.”
“I wanted to tell you over call.”
“Ah. You should’ve said something.”
You just shrug, wanting to move on. “I’m excited. How are you, though? Why are you feeling lonely?” You know it’s pointless to ask when he only has a few minutes of free time, but you still want to give him an option to answer.
“I’m alright, getting busier now but—”
The door opens behind him, a dancer clad in black clothing walking on screen. They speak a string of Korean to which Sicheng nods, standing up and stretching his legs.
“Sorry, break’s up,” he says, face coming back into the frame as he bends down to pick up his phone. “Text you later?”
You’ve gotten used to it by now. “Okay. Good luck. Bye.”
His face is replaced first with your text history, and next with a black screen. You stare at it, wondering if he even loved you in the first place.
You don’t decide on an answer during the 15 minute walk to dinner, but when you meet Winter there, you find that there are better ways to fill your time.
Turman Hall, 11:15 p.m.
Your hands shake as you press the FaceTime button under Sicheng’s contact. As your phone rings, you set it down to wipe your palms on your pants.
After tonight, you’ve decided to cut Sicheng out of your life. The timing is less than ideal, but with exams just completed and an abundance of time to reflect, it’s the best you can do. All you want is one final call with him, and you’ll rip off the bandaid.
Sicheng answers quickly. He’s sitting at his desk, a pillow propped up between him and his chair. “Hey,” he says, waving. An easy smile hangs from his face, and he looks the most relaxed he’s been in months.
“Hey,” you breathe. “How are you?”
He eats lunch as you talk, almost making you regret your decision to distance yourself. Your resolve never crumbles like you thought it would, though, and you think your conviction signals the point of no return.
Tonight, you hang up first. It feels like you can breathe again when you press the ‘end call’ button, but your heart crushes under the weight of your lungs.
Turman Hall, 11:57 p.m.
“I’m moving on,” you say, resting your elbows on the windowsill and looking up toward the looming night sky. The moon hangs high above, its gentle glow drawing out everything you’ve been bottling up.
“I can’t wait for him to come back when he’s happy without me,” you tell the moon. “I need to live my life without him. Otherwise, it’s not fair to me, or him, or anyone who cares about me.”
A tear traces its way down your face, plopping down onto the ledge. “I used to love him. I don’t know if it’ll ever go away, but I know that someday, I’ll be able to look back at it as something in the past.”
The stars wink back at you, silently, and you wonder if the moon ever gets tired of orbiting the Earth.
CHARLOTTE, NC
Home, 7:09 p.m.
Sicheng texts you every day during the first week of winter break. Each time, you ignore him for hours before responding, and it feels horrible, but there’s no other way around it.
Today’s texts come when you’re sitting in your room with Giselle and Kun, waiting for the sugar cookie dough to chill in the fridge. He asks how you are, if you want to call in the pocket of free time he has right now and tell him more about your future plans. You stare at the messages on your lockscreen, waiting for your phone to turn off before limply tossing it on your bed.
“What’s going on?” Giselle asks eventually, pulling you out of your reverie.
“What?”
“Y/n,” she says, scooting closer. You look up from the miniature Christmas tree nestled in your lap, having fiddled with its flimsy branches to distract yourself from replying. “What’s wrong? Talk to us, we’re here for you.”
You glance over at Kun. “I can tell the rest of them not to come because Giselle and I got food poisoning or something, if you need to vent to us.” He pulls his phone out, ready to text Yangyang, Lucas, and Ningning at a moment’s notice.
You wonder how long they’ve known, even when you kept quiet and tried to shoulder your pain alone. Your phone’s ringing saves you from answering immediately, lighting up with an incoming Facetime from Sicheng, and it hurts not to pick up, but it would hurt even more if you did.
“He said he has 20 minutes to call,” you relay to Kun and Giselle dully, your cover blown. They share a sideways glance, but neither of them say anything. “Should I? I don’t even know if I want to talk to him, but y’all probably haven’t called him in a while.”
“Don’t think of us, think of what you want,” Giselle urges.
You nod, reaching for the phone again. It’s still ringing when you silence it, throwing it back on the bed.
“Yeah. That’s what I want.” And then you fall over onto Giselle’s lap, desperately wishing for the pain to end, and she holds you as you sob for the first time in a week. “He’s—it’s—different now, and—s’okay, b-but it’s…” you choke out before you start hiccuping.
The room is quiet as you cry, only the sounds of sniffling and gentle consoling present, as you shed a semester’s worth of tears. You start talking once you’re coherent enough, putting your heart on full display, and it’s cathartic. It’s cathartic to ugly cry, to retell your love story to two friends who love you deeply, to release of all the hurt and longing you’ve been holding onto just to remember how you and Sicheng were.
And when you’re done, letting go gives more room for hope to come in.
ATLANTA, GA
Waffle House, 1:01 a.m.
“What do you mean, of course you were gonna get a bid, you idiot,” you exclaim around a bite of waffles. “I can’t believe you’re a frat boy now.”
“I was worried! I thought that one dude hated me, remember?” Lucas grins. “And don’t worry, I’m not an official frat boy yet.”
“Don’t fucking get hazed when you pledge.”
He raises his hands, still holding a syrup-covered pancake piece speared onto his fork. “I won’t. Don’t fall into the whole ‘frat boys are dumb’ thing on me, now, I know how to look after myself.”
“I’m not, I’m just worried,” you sigh. “Just—stay safe, y’know?”
“Aw, you do care after all.”
“Shut up before I make you pay for your pancakes.”
He doesn’t shut up. “Anyways, enough about me. You don’t have to, uh, say anything, but are you—are you doing okay?”
You can’t tell if he’s talking about Sicheng or life in general, but you offer an honest answer to both. You’ll find out which one he’s referring to soon enough. “I’m doing better.”
“I can tell.”
You stare at him for a second too long, the harsh fluorescent lights glaring down, and you think that maybe Sicheng came into your life at exactly the right time.
Three truths arise at the exact same time: You don’t love Sicheng anymore. You’re happier without him. And you see the light at the end of the tunnel, the day quickly approaching when you are perfectly satisfied with what was, and have no grieving for what could have been.
Clairmont Road, 6:08 p.m.
When it arrives, it’s any other spring day. You’re sitting at a bus stop, scrolling through social media, helping Winter finalize the Airbnb booking for your upcoming spring break trip, and discussing your summer internship applications with Ten at the same time, when Giselle scrolls back up your feed.
“Isn’t that… Sicheng? He went viral?”
“Hm?” You glance down at a dance trend, the dancer vibing onscreen alongside a popular filter. Then your eyes land on the several hundred thousand likes beneath the video. “That’s him?” you finally realize. You haven’t kept up with his dance account in a few months, and it seems like you’ve missed out on a lot.
“Oh my god, he made it, didn’t he?”
“Holy shit. All because of a TikTok dance? That’s insane.”
You call Lucas over, and the three of you rewatch the video.
As you watch, you wait for your expression to fall again, for your heart to drop and your stomach to twist when you think about him, but nothing happens. And as you feel nothing but happiness for his success, the last scratch on your heart heals itself, and you smile.
Then the epiphany hits you: you and Sicheng may never talk, meet, or be okay with each other again, but it doesn’t matter. It hasn’t mattered for a while, not when your heart is bursting with love for your own life and stays silent for a boy who was once in it.
He’s in his own world—leaving you happier now that you’re done learning what you needed to from him, wiser and more content—and you’re in your own, taking over the world with only those you choose to share it with.
It’s solitary on top of the world, but it will never be lonely, not when you fight for everything you want and hold the people you love close to your heart.
You let go of Sicheng a long time ago.
ATLANTA, GA, SOPHOMORE YEAR
The Quad, 7:30 p.m.
The day Lucas asks you out is the day the flowers outside your window start to bloom.
“I really like you,” he says, his beaming expression matching yours, “and I was wondering if you’d like to go out? On a date with me?”
He’s awkward, but carries himself with confidence. His fidgeting hands give away the nervousness he tries to hide, but his grin catches your attention. There’s a lot of things you like about him, but you think his smile might be one of your favorites.
“I would love to.”
Main Street, 8:15 p.m.
By the time your three month anniversary with Lucas rolls around, you’ve started bringing down your heart’s defenses already. There’s no reason to keep them up: he doesn’t make you cry when you worry about the future, is never gone for long enough to make your heart ache. He’s safe, and you want to stop keeping him at arm’s distance.
And you’ll be okay. You’ve lived through one heartbreak already and emerged stronger than ever. And if your vulnerability with Lucas means it will heighten your next heartbreak, then it’ll be worth it a million times over.
You hand parts of your heart for him to hold, dropping your defenses day by day. This is the point of no return, and you choose to walk past it with Lucas by your side.
ATLANTA, GA, JUNIOR YEAR
The Quad, 10:22 p.m.
“I’m in love with you,” Lucas confesses. Grinning from ear to ear, he swings your clasped hands together, practically restraining himself from skipping down the park path. Your hand slips an inch before he catches it, oblivious to the sweat coating your palms inside your gloves.
The right words never come, and slowly, the smile melts off his face. “Baby?”
Your throat constricts as you swallow hard around your dry tongue.
“Baby, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said it before you were comfortable, I…”
“Lucas.” Pausing, you bring a shaky fist up to your mouth, covering the lower half of your face as you stall for time. “I… don’t know.”
Your hand slips out of his. “Oh.”
“Lucas, I love you very much. But there’s a difference. I… don’t know if I’m in love with you.” He stares at you, expression tight, and your stomach turns. “This doesn’t mean no. I really don’t know, but I do know that you make me happy. I wasn’t expecting this.”
“I thought I had been clear in how I felt.”
You wince, slightly. “I’m—”
“Don’t. Don’t apologize.” He swallows. “Can we please go back to the dorms? I’m not mad, and I don’t want you to feel bad, but I really need to be alone right now.”
“Can we work this out first?” you ask, panic settling into your voice.
“I don’t know if we can do that right now.” “Have—have you been open with me? About how you feel these past few months?”
“Can we at least try? I—” Your voice breaks, and you clench your jaw to ground yourself before continuing. “Of course I’ve been open. I made the choice to communicate everything I felt, I overcame my fear of heartbreak. Just because I’m not sure if I’m in love with you yet doesn’t mean I haven’t tried and cared.”
“I don’t—can we please go back? I need some time alone.”
“You can’t just walk away like that,” you say, voice shaking. “You—you’re not trying to solve this together.”
“I don’t know,” he says, and it hurts to hear when it’s all he says, but not as much as it hurt you to say.
“Lucas,” you say, and it feels horrible pleading for him to listen. “Please work this out with me. Show me that you’re choosing me, too.”
He stares at you, motionless. Your worry compounds when he stays there, heart ripping apart at the seams as you resign yourself to the fact that this is the beginning of the end. Jaw clenching, you let your tears trickle down your face, the frigid wind sending pricks of coldness down your face.
Then he steps closer, blurry silhouette growing bigger. You furiously wipe away your tears, wool gloves scratching at your cheeks, to get a good look at his expression, when he hesitantly reaches up for your hands.
“I’m sorry,” he says, slowly lowering your joined hands. “I know you’re hurt. I need you to trust me when I need some time to process this, and I know you want to work on this together, but I need to be alone first. Would you be okay with going back to your dorm, but staying in different rooms for a while so that I can still be close to you?”
It’s not okay—not if he’s giving up on solving it together. “You get the bathroom.”
“Deal.”
You don’t get the chance to tell him that night, for you fall asleep before he talks to you again.
His absence speaks for itself, and you think this might be the point of no return.
Woodruff Hall, 12:12 a.m.
Lucas gives up over winter break, and you want to blame him, but you’re too busy blaming yourself for breaking up with him to be angry.
“Why?” he demands, gaze cold. You look away.
“You knew this was coming,”
“You were the one who talked about choosing each other and working on our relationship.”
And you were the one who gave up first, you think, but you’re too tired to be bitter. “Lucas, I don’t think you can change my mind at this point.”
“Are you—is it because I’m in love with you?”
“Lucas, please, just go.”
“Did you ever love me?” You hate that you can’t comfort him the first time he cries in front of you.
“We can talk about this later, but please, I need to be alone right now.”
You start sobbing the moment he walks out the door.
The Quad, 11:32 p.m.
Were you in love with him?
Woodruff Hall, 1:57 a.m.
You were not in love with him.
Woodruff Hall, 11:29 a.m.
When Sicheng Facetimes you for the second time this year, you’re not expecting it. You certainly aren’t expecting the news he drops.
“You’re dating someone?” you ask as he blushes.
For a horrible moment, all you can think is what if what if what if before you blink, and then your guilt over your past evaporates.
“That’s awesome. What are they like?”
“She’s really cool. She joined the studio a year after I did and we started talking recently. It’s going really well.”
“I’m glad you’re happy.”
“Me too,” he grins. “How are you, though? Anything interesting happen?”
“Nah, I’m just pretty stressed,” you half-fib. “Just—life, you know?”
“I see. How are you and Lucas?”
A cross between a laugh and a sob rips out of your throat unexpectedly. “We—we broke up earlier this month.”
Sicheng goes still. “Oh, shit, I’m so sorry, I had no idea.”
“He—it’s—I’ll be okay. I trust myself enough to end up okay,” you babble. “It’s chill. It’ll be chill eventually.”
“Things will get better,” he agrees, “but you shouldn’t ignore how you feel right now. Are you alright? Wanna talk about it?”
You tell him an abridged version, one that’s probably still too personal for him, and he consoles you the best he can.
You still feel the finality when he hangs up, though, the sense of obligation he felt to inform you of his girlfriend obvious from the start. It’s an unspoken agreement that neither one of you will contact the other so as not to intrude on his new relationship, and you imagine it’ll be the last time he calls you this year.
And you’re okay with that—have been okay with it for years by now. Sicheng’s gone, not the one that got away, and you feel a deep peace settle in your bones.
One day, you’ll feel the same about Lucas, too, and that victory carries you through the week.
ATLANTA, GA, SENIOR YEAR
Oxford Road, 4:28 p.m.
“Hi, Lucas.”
He looks up from his laptop, pulling his textbook from the cafe table to make more room for you. “Hey, it’s good to see you again.”
The awkwardness you’ve been preparing for in your meeting never comes. “You too,” you say, pulling out a chair and sitting across from him. “How have you been?”
“I’m doing really well. How ‘bout you?”
“Me too. I’m glad you’re doing good. How’d that internship go, by the way?”
“Oh my god, it went great,” he recounts. “Ten told you how he was interning under a different department, right? And that he worked on the floor above mine?”
“He did. Did y’all see each other often? He didn’t really mention a lot other than how he got wasted with you.”
“Yeah. He’s less of a lightweight now, did you know? Anyways, I shared an apartment with a few guys, and one of them was from his hometown, and he was doing analytics as well and he mentioned that he had interned with you last summer. Do you remember a Hendery?”
“I remember him! Does he still have a bunch of questionable ties?”
“So many. We got him a Shrek tie that Ten ended up picking, and he wore it on the last day, it was great.”
You and Lucas are okay again.
You only realize that you never ordered a drink by the time you head out.
Executive Park, 10:42 p.m.
Sicheng calls for the first time in a year right when Winter leaves your college apartment for the last time. It’s not the last time you’ll see her before you move out, but it brings about a sense of finality.
“Hello?” you ask after a moment of silence.
“You’re still going to school in LA next year, right?”
“Hello?” Winter glances over, one hand on your doorknob, and you shake her head. Covering your phone, you mouth “I’m fine.” She doesn’t look convinced, but closes the door behind her anyways.
“Please,” he says, and his sense of urgency grabs your attention. “I’ll explain, but I need to know.”
“Yeah, I am. Why? What’s happening?”
“So. I might be moving there to teach at a dance studio.”
“You’re moving back?” you press. “Why? When? Which studio?”
“Millennium, sometime in the fall,” he says, loud chatter on his end briefly drowning out his words. “Shit—I don’t have a lot of time right now, but I got confirmation that I’ll be teaching there just now, and I—I remembered you were gonna be there, and, you know? Can we talk about this sometime later? I’m at the studio right now, I just—”
“Sicheng, that’s fine,” you say when you hear the talking in the background pick up again, worried that he’s missing out on a class or practice. “I’m proud of you for making it there. We’ll talk later?”
“Thank you, yeah, we should.”
You nod, not knowing what to do. “Bye.”
“Bye,” he says, and you hang up as soon as the syllable has left his mouth.
Sicheng’s moving back. He’s moving back, a stranger behind his familiar smile, and it’s difficult to think about meeting him when you’d assumed you’d never see him again.
Against the backdrop of surprise, your curiosity stands out the most. You wonder what kind of person he grew into—wonder if he ever found something besides dance to chase, what his most recent catchphrase is, how his girlfriend is doing, if he still listens to the SoundCloud rapper after he went into pop, how often he calls his parents—and you miss the ease of being able to ask him, no sour memories to impede even the simplest of conversations.
This is the price you have to pay, you suppose, for knowing you were meant to outgrow each other.

It’s A Wonderful Afterlife (NOS4A2 Fanfic)
A/N: I’ve had this story idea in my head for awhile, but I got to writing it yesterday and the day before yesterday. Basically, this one is the story of Rose’s transformation into a vampire. It’s gonna cover some heavy topics such as nearing the end of your life and terminal illness, so be warned, but there’s a lot of happiness in the middle and near the end. Hope you all enjoy!
It’s A Wonderful Afterlife
A NOS4A2 Fanfic
By: Bunny Louise Grimes
As the years went by for Rose, very little had changed in terms of her personality. She had remained shy and introverted (unless in the company of those she deeply trusted), she had remained both gothy and girly, and she had remained nerdy. Her love for her toys, her games, her writing, her art, her vampire husband, and her children had never waned. Fifty years of marriage and a set of dhampir twins later, and from the inside, she was as young as she had been on her wedding day.
Physically, she had her differences.
By the time she reached 57, grey hairs were starting to show in ways they hadn’t before. She had never been the type to dye her hair, but in order to preserve its beauty that she so cherished, from then on out, she dyed her long hair the closest shade of matching brunette she could.
Her height was as short as before, her weight was roughly around the same spot thanks to her vigorously making sure she never went past 200 pounds, and her eyes were as hazel as before, with the exception of holding an aged look. Her face and skin had shown the obvious signs of age, but such a thing was inevitable. It was nothing a little makeup couldn’t help make look better.
Charlie still found his June Rose to be as beautiful as he always found her. He had asked her on and off since their consummation on their wedding night, where he took her virginity and kept it within him to turn her into a vampire just like him one day, if she was willing to grow an older human. She always told him she did; she wanted to see how long this “human” thing would go. She wanted to experience humanity till the end, when the next chapter in her life would have to begin and vampirism would take the lead.
But by the age of 75, when she looked as though she was older than Charlie (when he wasn’t in desperate need of souls), and looked to be a grandmother to the children of Christmasland rather than mother, and her parents and brother had moved on to the other side from their own respective health issues, things were beginning to be odd. It was a whole seven months after her 75th birthday when something wasn’t right.
The first sign was the weight loss. Rose had always been a bit plump, but both she and Charlie noticed her normally soft potbelly was slimmer and smaller. They also noticed her thighs and arms were slimmer. This confused them, and they kept it in mind, but they figured it could be the result of age rather than a sickness.
The second sign was the pain in her abdomen and middle back. Within a few weeks of noticing her fat going down, she had pains in these areas on and off, and they would pick up in intensity and frequency some days.
The third sign was the general sickness she felt. One moment, she would be playing with the children, the next, she would be feeling extremely nauseous and fatigued. She would have to throw up in the bathroom and it would take a few minutes for her to recover. Charlie and her both knew that this went beyond weariness from play due to elder age. This was an apparent illness, and something was physically wrong.
However, Rose was also unusual not just in her gastrointestinal area, but her mind as well.
Forgetfulness and misplacing something was nothing noticeable, as she did it all the time. But she suspected something wasn’t right when within those same few weeks, she was slowly starting to forget things that just happened. Both her and Charlie would be watching an episode of one of their shows, and by the time commercials ended, she was struggling to remember quite a few details of what happened before them. It took her a moment to connect the events together. The same happened when she would read, and every once in a while, she would have to slowly read the same paragraph three times.
The turning point came when she and Charlie were discussing things in bed, and she was struggling to remember certain conversations they had and she had with the children only a month ago that she remembered a week before. A few details Rose brought up were nonexistent, and Charlie had to correct her. That night, she decided that between these small forgetful spells and these stomach issues, it was clear she needed to go to a doctor as soon as possible. He agreed and promised to take her in the morning.
The next day, they left Christmasland for the appointment Charlie made for her the moment he woke up. They explained to the doctor all of Rose’s physical and mental symptoms. The doctor nodded; how he nodded made her nervous. When she was younger, she was a nurse, and through her medical knowledge, she could guess what these symptoms meant, but she wanted to trust another medical professional’s judgement, as these things could be nothing rather than something, but as obvious as it sounded, it was always better to be safe than sorry. She had seen that nod before when in the presence of both patients who were relieved to find their serious symptoms were nothing and those who were about to have the news of terminal illness broken to them. Like a coin flip, it would be heads or tails: heads would be another day to live, tails would be a death sentence.
A series of nerve wracking scans and tests with Charlie by her side later, and the diagnosis was clear. The moment the doctor came back to their room, Rose, like a bloodhound, smelled the sullen seriousness in his face and tone of voice. She recognized that face and voice from her nurse days; the coin was tails. He was about to give her the date and method of her execution before slamming his gravel down.
Rose had always imagined that she would go out thanks to her heart or some sort of diabetes related sickness, given bad hearts and diabetes ran in her mom’s side of the family, and her obesity she tried to control would certainly be a contributing factor. Genetics were a hell of a double edged sword: they could give you the most beautiful set of eyes and hair with skin to match, but they could also give you the worst odds of illness you could think of.
This time, it was not Rose’s heart that would fail her, or the development of diabetes. It was two things that were just as genetic, but aruguably worse. She recalled her mother telling her that Rose’s great aunt had died of pancreatic cancer, and it was a miserable way to go. She also remembered her mother telling her that Rose’s great grandmother was suspected of suffering from Alzheimer’s before succumbing to death.
Well, it was no surprise to Rose when she learned that these two things were her method of execution. Not only because she suspected they could be possibilities, but because the facts were simple: if she was somehow strong enough to survive the painful destruction her body would suffer from the cancer, the synapses in her brain would be eaten away, just as if she was bitten by a zombie from one of her stories, and much like a zombie, not much would remain of her but a dead shell. She would be a burden to her husband and children, and they would have to watch her go from being a loving, wonder filled woman to a sickly, miserable, pain filled stranger who wouldn’t even be able to remember herself, her lover, or her children.
Both her and Charlie took this news with with equal sadness. The future was bleak, and they knew that. Not even chemotherapy treatment was worth it.
“My grandfather suffered from esophageal cancer, and he did not fare well with chemo thanks to his genetics,” she explained to the doctor. “Given that I am half my mother, and she is half of him, my odds are not good, are they?”
“Well, you certainly have a better chance than your mother, but yes, he is a direct blood relative, so the odds are there. If you wish to go through chemo, we can get you started on it, but if you don’t want to risk it or have any treatment, you’ll have roughly a year left to live. Since cancer and dimentia do have a connection, as it spreads throughout your stomach and body, your mental decline will come rapidly. I estimate that you will go through the final stages of both illnesses simultaneously, and it will, to put it lightly, be painful for all parties involved.”
Rose nodded. “I don’t think I want to risk it. I don’t think there’s much of a point to go through all of that, only for my mind to fail me. Not to mention, wouldn’t chemo worsen it?”
“It can, yes,” the doctor continued. “Since the state of Colorado offers the End of Life Options Act, we can administer physician assisted suicide, if that is what you would prefer, but there will be a few things you’ll need to do.”
Had Charlie not been in her life, Rose would’ve agreed to do such a thing in these circumstances, although, if she hasn’t met him, she most likely wouldn’t have been in the state of Colorado and instead stuck back home in Ohio, where no such laws would exist. She knew that with the choice of transforming into a vampire, suicide wasn’t needed.
“I’ll need to think on that,” Rose lied.
“I understand, as this is a lot to take in. Please contact me as soon as possible when you have come to your decisions.”
Father and Mother Christmas departed the hospital and stepped inside the Wraith. The drive back to Gunbarrel was at first silent, but Charlie needed to pull over to a secluded area. Rose could see the tears in his brown eyes.
“My beloved...” He hushed, his deep voice breaking. “You’re so sick...”
“I know,” she said softly. “I wanted to give my humanity the best run I could, and I did. But I’m not going through this shit. I’m going out on my own terms, only I won’t have to die. I’m becoming a vampire, and going into the next chapter of my life.” She turned to Charlie. “You don’t need to cry, baby. You have the power to prevent my departure from this world. I already talked to each of my family before they went, and they knew I was going to be immortal as long as I could be, but I could still contact them through my new psychic powers. If you and the kids are more sensitive to spirits, that must mean I will be too. Hell, we’ll make it look like I chose to die without treatment or assisted suicide to the doctors. I’ll be alright. Everything will be alright.”
“Yes, I know,” he sobbed, wiping his eyes. “It’s just... the idea of you dying... the fact is, you had been dying, and you are dying. I know that’s humanity, but when you have something like this... you are not only dying in the human sense, but the clinical as well.”
The gravity of Charlie’s words slapped Rose in the face, just as the news of her diagnosis in the first place had moments ago. Even though she had another chance, unlike so many others in her place, there was still a sadness to be had. This chapter in her life was done, and she could either do one of two endings: continue down a horrible road until salvation was given to her and everyone was left scarred from their experiences, or embrace salvation now. Rose knew that she was going to avoid that horrible road and jump straight to the awe inspiring transformation that would mark the next chapter, but it was a shame her human form had to suffer like this, and that it was even an issue. In addition, 75 was decently young for elderly death. If she were in her 80’s, or especially her 90’s, this was expectant, but 75... it seemed a bit too soon.
She began to cough, and Charlie handed her his white handkerchief. Her eyes widened when she saw blood splatter, and that’s when her own tears poured from her eyes. She gave it back to Charlie and buried herself in his chest. The two held onto each other and wept for a good twenty minutes before deciding they needed to head back home.
Before they exited the car to greet their children, Rose suddenly smiled as she held Charlie’s hand. “Tomorrow,” she said. “I think tomorrow is a good day to celebrate my last day of humanity, and then I’d like to transform. If that’s okay with you.”
A smile formed on his own face. “Whatever day you are ready, my love. I will fuse your innocence back inside of you whenever you desire.”
They broke the news to the children, but they handled it well. They understood the severity of the situation regarding their mother’s health, but were excited and viewed the positive side, that their mother was to be an immortal vampire much like them and their father. When their mother told them she would like to celebrate the last day of her humanity tomorrow and transform into a vampire tomorrow night, they knew that much was to be anticipated for. Their father assured them that tomorrow would be a day to never forget.
While the other children ran upstairs to go to bed, excited for what tomorrow would hold, Millie, Lorrie, Nicholas, and Holly stayed behind. They ran over to their mother and hugged her.
“Even though you’re not gonna be a human anymore,” Lorrie began, “it doesn’t change a thing.”
“We always knew you’d be a vampire like us one day,” Millie added. “We hope you’ll be healthy and happy again real soon.”
“I will, babies,” Rose reassured them. “I will.”
“If we’re half human...” Nicholas spoke up.
“...That means we’re the last pieces of your humanity, right?” Holly finished.
“Yes, it does, babies,” Rose smiled wider. “I suppose it does.”
The twins beamed at each other in pride.
“But just because I’ll become a vampire doesn’t mean I still won’t be myself,” she clarified. “We’ll all still be just as we were, just with me having some physical improvements. It’ll be just as if I will always human.”
They nodded and knew it was time to get ready for bed with the others. They raced each other up the stairs, their parents tagging behind. When everyone was ready, Charlie and Rose bid the little ones good night before snuggling close to each other in their own bed.
Sleep could not come quick or easy for Rose, as her worries and anxieties mixed with her excitement kept her awake, but somehow, she found herself asleep. While Charlie slept, he dreamt of how the party would look for his beloved: the balloons, the streamers, the cake, the lights, the roses everywhere, the unicorns, the glitter... everything to honor his lover’s life and everything that represented what she was and would always be to their family.
When he awoke the next morning, Rose was still asleep. Letting her get her much needed rest, he snuck downstairs. The children had all woke up at the same time he had. They all snuck down the steps and they paused, amazed at the sight that awaited them downstairs...
When Rose opened her eyes and rubbed them, she turned next to her to find Charlie missing. She went to the bathroom and left her bedroom to check on the children. They were not in their very large and ever expanding bed. She noticed that the living room was dark, but all sorts of odd shadows filled it. She went down the steps and turned the lights on.
“Surprise!” Everyone cheered.
Rose gasped. Her eyes were filled with wonder as she saw what her living room had become.
Rainbow lights and glittery streamers filled the ceiling. Colorful balloons and roses of all colors were everywhere. In the center of the coffee table was a cake with candles that became aglow once she turned the lights on. A wonderfully designed unicorn figurine with roses in its mane and tail set on the cake.
“Oh... oh, it’s beautiful!” Rose cried, tears of joy filling her eyes. “Oh, I’ve never seen anything like it before!”
Charlie beamed and pulled a pink dress over her nightgown. She hugged him and kissed him on the lips, cheeks, nose, and forehead.
“How did you all do this?” She asked.
“I dreamed it, like I do everything... well, not everything, as you are far too beautiful to be dreamed from me.”
She blushed and hugged him even tighter. “You are the sweetest man I’ve ever known. I am so happy to know you, be with you and have all these little ones to raise with you.”
The children rushed to her and she gave them as many hugs and kisses as she could give.
“Look outside, and you’ll see the party goes beyond this room,” Charlie said.
Rose opened the front door and was taken aback. Christmasland was covered in more roses, balloons, glitter, and rainbow lights. Amongst it all, the rainbow unicorns from Charlie’s zoo played in the snow together, free to roam from their usual enclosure.
“It’s all in your honor, my dear.” Charlie laid a kiss on her head.
She could speak no words, just gaze in amazement as the children ran outside to play. Charlie and Rose did the same, and for the rest of the day, they played and occasionally stopped to eat. Rose did her best to keep it together, but surprisingly, no ill feelings or forgetful spells came to her. Perhaps because her body knew that it was only one last day until her body would be immune to all ailments, so it needed to use the last of its strength. Or because happiness was her best medicine in the moment. She couldn’t tell which.
By the end of the day, they had gathered back inside, she blew the candles on the cake, and they began to eat some of it. The time had come where they needed to go to bed so that their mother’s transformation could occur. She read them her favorite bedtime stories before they all got too tired to stay awake. She and Charlie kissed them all good night and closed the door, knowing that would be the last time they’d ever see her in her old form.
When they entered the room, the couple closed their door and the fireplace kicked on thanks to Charlie’s abilities. Rose laid on the bed and sighed.
“Today is one of the best days of my entire life,” she said. “I have you and the babies to thank for that. You have made my human days very special, and you will make my vampire ones the same.”
Charlie laid next to her. “You have made my days very special, and you have made the babies’ days very special. We have you to thank for that.”
They exchanged a kiss before Rose sat up. “Well now... are we ready?”
“Are you ready is the more important question.”
“I think I am,” she said. “Words cannot describe how wonderful this day has been from start to finish. It is a day I will cherish forever. And before my sicknesses get to me... I shall end my humanity and ring in my new vampirism on the happiest note possible.”
She looked at herself in a mirror nearby as she slipped her dress off. “Oh, my dear human body. You have seen so much since the moment I was born. And yet, here we are. You won’t be the same ever again, and you will be improved in ways unimaginably amazing, but I hope you know how much I appreciate you. Even when I’ve experienced self hatred, I was always thankful for you. I hope you love this new form.”
She turned back to Charlie and laid back down. “I guess this means I’ll get to eat people with you guys. The right ones, of course. And fangs, nails, a new body temperature... That should all be an interesting experience. And I can’t wait to see what using similar if not exact abilities like you will be like... this will not only be the next chapter in my life, but will be a bonding experience that will bring us all closer together, I think.”
“I agree, my love,” he said. “I agree.”
The two snuggled close together.
“Thank you for doing this, sugar pop,” she sighed. “What would I do without you?”
“What would I do without you is the bigger question,” he chuckled. “I will always love you.”
“I’ll always love you too.”
He leaned into her ear. “Are you ready at this moment?”
“Yes.” Her voice had some nervousness in it, but the confidence outweighed it in ways immeasurable.
“Lift up your chin so I may see your neck.”
She did as she was told. Charlie gazed upon it and his fangs came jutting out, an energy boiling within him.
“Good bye, old life,” Rose whispered with peace. “May our memories live on for all of immortal eternity.”
“Welcome to your new summer to blossom, my June Rose.”
Charlie slammed his fangs down upon her neck, an energy force emitting from the two bite marks. She gasped and her eyes widened. A foreign, but comfortable and oddly familiar sensation came over her. She clutched onto his back as blood dripped down from the bite marks. They glowed a white-blue color.
As the sensation consumed her, she felt as if she was traveling back in time. Every few seconds was another year she felt healthier and younger. It took her a moment to register that’s what that was, but when she saw her face in Charlie’s eyes... she could confirm her wrinkles were fading.
She looked at the arm she could see most clearly. Her wrinkles had dissipated and the fat had returned. She was sure her other arm looked the same. When she looked at her hand, she saw her nails gaining a yellow tint. She felt them increasing in length. Once they reached the same length as Charlie’s, they stopped. She couldn’t see her feet or legs, but she could feel the same effect happening to them. Her legs and feet (and especially her thighs) gained back the weight they had lost. She noted that her pallor was now matching Charlie’s, based on how her arm and hand looked.
Her breasts, always large, plumped back to their youthful size. Her stomach had also returned to the cushiony potbelly Charlie always loved to rest his head on. As embarrassing as it sounded, she felt her privates tingle and somewhere above them, a burning sensation occurred. She thought about it, but considered that her fertility must’ve been returning. She was miserable on and off when experiencing menopause, but she supposed as a vampire, she’d be able to withstand any pains she might experience if she had periods again. In addition, she was sure Charlie would still find her menstrual blood as delicious as he did before when she was human.
Through the reflection in Charlie’s eyes, Rose could see her wrinkles had completely faded. The aged look her hazel eyes held flooded with a new look of old youth meeting for an eternal kiss after years of departure. Her face returned to how she looked on their wedding night, only a bit more pale. She grunted as her white teeth gained their own yellow tint and increased in sharpness. A group of fangs came out from behind these new teeth. Once this occurred, blood filled her mouth and trickled down her throat while ice cold breath emitted from her nose and mouth like a rabid animal. A warmth in her stomach made her feel as if she had drunk the finest coffee or hot chocolate rather than blood.
My God... this is why vampires crave this stuff... it’s got flavors in it that we can’t taste.
The dye in her hair had faded, exposing the natural grey. But it quickly disappeared as her natural brunette took over. At long last, she felt she could embrace her natural hair again. Even its volume, thickness, and waviness returned.
Rose had to fall back further at the sheer force from her insides. The blood that fell from her neck returned to the permanent bite marks and absorbed back inside of her. Cold chills consumed her. Her eyes, nose, ears, tongue, and touch nerves sharpened. The cancer cells in her body exploded like little stars until they were gone entirely. Every healthy cell underwent a metamorphosis that strengthened them and kept them permanently superhuman. Because of this, her immune system had reached powers impossible for the human body, destroying anything abnormal. Any sickness would be identified and wiped out instantly thanks to her new antibodies. Even her asthma had been erased from her lungs. From within her brain, the synapses snapped back together like a puzzle, and her memory was the clearest it had ever been.
I’m healthy again... Thank God, I’m heathy again...
Once her body was complete, a new sensation took over her back. She tried to jolt forward, but Charlie was still on top of her. He stepped back, as every ounce of innocence was back inside of her now. She lurched forward and leaned down. She could see her new legs and feet and her other arm, just as the other one.
Her back felt heavy. Something was weighing her down... something was coming out of it... something...
Unable to control the scream that came from her, two large masses of bone, muscle, and skin came from her back, perfectly ripping her nightgown, and extended to reveal... bat wings. Through the light in the room, the veins had looked like their own art piece to Charlie.
As quickly as the pain came, it left Rose and she laid back down, gasping and skiddishly feeling the new wings. Just like one’s arms or legs, she found she could move them like any other appendage. She flapped them, noticing they were larger than her. A small gust of wind filled the room.
“They’re... beautiful...” Charlie marveled.
Unable to speak, Rose stood up and stumbled. She found that her wings and heavier weight added some balance issues, but within thirty seconds, she had adjusted. She walked over to the mirror to look at herself more closely. Her toenails clacked against the wood, just as Charlie’s did. She looked just as she did when she was young; this time, she was pale, colder, had sharper senses, had vampire teeth and nails, a vampire bite mark on her neck, and very large bat wings on her back. She curled them up and extended them out comfortably. She flapped them a few times, and she found herself being lifted up into the air through the force of such gusts.
“Woah!” She cried. She let her wings die down and she landed as gently as she could on the floor.
She turned to Charlie, who stared at her with twinkling eyes.
“I guess I’m gonna need to make holes for these bad boys in all my clothes, huh?” She laughed. Her voice had largely remained the same, but this time, there was a youthful strength to it.
Charlie chuckled and beaconed her back to bed. “I suppose we shall. You look absolutely stunning, just as you always have. Only this time, your inner beauty is emanating from you. We shall see all of your abilities in the morning, especially since I’m sure the children would love to see you and your new talents as well. I’m quite surprised that scream didn’t stir them. But I believe your body needs a rest after the amount of change it had to go through.”
She nodded and crawled back into bed, right next to Charlie. They cuddled up next to each other. Her wings curled back up in a way that was comfortable. He rested his chin on her head and she nuzzled her face in his chest. Their combined warmth made sure they wouldn’t feel cold while sleeping. Rest had come easy for the both of them, and they found themselves sharing a pleasant dream.
Tomorrow would be the day the children would awake to be gifted with their healthy vampire mother, but even so, she would still always be the mother they knew and loved. For Charlie, she would always be the wife he knew and loved. For Rose, her new chapter had begun, and the dawn of a new era was ready to last for the rest of their eternity.

Jake's POV Descendants of Despair Part 56
As we pulled up to the warehouse, I could feel the anxiety setting in. I began obsessively observing the surrounding area, terrified I'd miss something that caused her any harm. “Give me a moment,” I murmured, pulling out my laptop and opening various windows, setting up scans. She watched me work in silence. Finally, I put my laptop away and drove to the warehouse door. I was about to climb out of the car, but she put her hand on my thigh then jumped out instead of me and pulled open the door herself, running inside rather than back to the car. I drove in after her and soon after that Dan joined us. As soon as Dan’s car had entered, she pulled the door down and ran back to our car to meet me.
I hopped out of the car, fully masked but still really jumpy. She was busy casting her eyes around the warehouse. I knew she would be looking at the possible escape options. “What do you think?” I whispered. “I think there are not many options for all of us to get out safely if anything were to happen,” she groaned. “You and I could probably climb up and jump through the window at the top, but I’m not sure Dan would be able to follow.” She was probably right by that, the goofball would probably get to the top then Winnie the Pooh himself in the window with his ass becoming a prime target for a gun.
“Anything he can do, I can do better!” Dan stated enthusiastically as he came up behind us. “Really?” I questioned sarcastically. “Should I give you a go with my setup and see what happens?” There was no way in hell his skills would rival mine, or even come close to hers.
She grinned then nudged me, in mock anger and I imagined more so with herself than with me.
“Let me clarify, anything worth doing I can do better,” Dan snickered then grinned at MC pointedly. “Isn’t that so, MC,” he winked. This spiteful comment made me want to rub it in that I had her and he didn't, so I wrapped an arm around her tightly. “Look, it isn’t really anything to do with ability as such. You haven’t had the practise that we have. It would require hasty and measured movements to get out safely.” She said somewhat soothingly.
“Look, we are on really borrowed time at the moment. Alan’s appearance will likely only spell bad news for us. Can we just get down to business?” She asked, her voice taking on a snarky tone.
“You know, if you drop the dead weight, you wouldn’t be having to worry about safety right now?” Dan sighed, glaring pointedly at me. I was about to take the bait, when she answered for me instead.
“You know what Dan, fuck you.” She announced and grabbed my hand, ready to turn away and leave him to it.
“Wait, chill. I was just trying to point out how much better off you would be if you ditched hackerman. He is bringing you down MC.” Dan said, this time without so much bite towards me but enough that I was still angry at him. I knew he was trying to warn MC away from me and part of me was actually thankful for that. She did deserve better than me, so much so.
“I am going to say this just once, so listen and follow along with what I am saying, okay?” she asked, moving herself so she was so close to Dan that he backed away slightly. I knew she had it in her to be scary and the sight of a tall man that was at least twice her body weight backing down to her was hilariously delightful.
“Jake is in as much danger because of me as I am because of him, probably more so in fact. See this?” she pulled down her pants slightly and exposed the no longer covered wound on her thigh, much to my horror. I was thankful that her hoodie was long enough that it covered her panties, and she had moved in such a way that only a small portion of thigh was exposed. I knew she was doing this to protect me, because she respected and loved me. “This is a bullet wound from when I so mysteriously disappeared on you all. You want to talk about the danger in all of this? Sure, Jake’s pursuers are way smarter, but mine...by a long shot, are far more deadly.” she snarled as she pulled her jeans back up and fastened them. I was shocked at her reaction, but actually thankful. She had taken all the wind out of his sails.
Making her way back to my side, she mumbled an apology. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it gently. “Don’t be, I think he needed to know...otherwise I probably would have reacted far worse than you just did. Besides, all he could see was a bit of thigh, your hoodie kept you covered.” She nodded thankfully.
“Uh...shit MC what the fuck did you get yourself into?” Dan stammered.
“Look, that shit is in the past. Jake and I will sort it, but right now we have more pressing matters. What did you pick up from Phil?” she asked, her voice suddenly betraying her feelings about her actions.
“I dunno, he didn’t seem to want to get to the point of anything. I thought he would be spilling his guts as soon as he sat down. At least I would have if it had been me stuck in there. This was his one shot at trying to tell someone more of the truth and instead he flirted with you.” Dan sighed, casting a glance at me once more. As if I didn't know that he had tried to flirt with her. She was incredible. Who wouldn't want to flirt with her? I was shocked at myself though. As much as she trusted me, I trusted her as well.
“Yeah, I gathered pretty much the same. He was...not lying so much as he was deflecting from my original question. Is there anything else you noticed?” she asked, her tone completely businesslike but she began leaning in to me for support. This action showed just how vulnerable she was feeling at the moment. How could I even think of leaving her when she needed me so much? Shit, the whole thing was so fucked up. Go and I take away the support she needs. Stay and she risks being caught up in all my shit.
“Not really, other than he looked more than shocked that he was being offered bail.” Dan replied, causing her head to snap up. “Shit, that is potentially helpful. Thanks Dan.” she replied with actual enthusiasm this time. “We had better get going, but I’ll be in touch at some stage.” she started to head back to the car, and I followed closely behind her.
“Wait, do you have a place to go?” Dan called after us. I paused, deciding that I needed to let Dan know that I wasn't the threat he thought I was.. “No, but I will take care of it. You may not like me Dan. You may not trust me. But this girl and her happiness and safety have become my sole purpose on this Earth. There is no way that I will let anyone harm her, and if you care about her at all, like I think you do, then you will trust her opinion of me as well.” I spoke the words soft and clearly so that Dan would understand. As I finished speaking, I climbed into the car, giving her some time alone with Dan if she should need it. Dan didn’t say a word as he watched her climb into the car after me. Instead, he headed for his own car, got in, closed the door and drove away. We followed out of the Warehouse, and she hopped out once again to close the door behind us.
“Let’s go,” she murmured as she got back into the car. “We need to find somewhere safe to stay before dark… and Jake...you know it is only you that I love, right?” she asked hesitantly. I turned briefly to look at her, deciding she needed to see my genuine feelings on the matter. Pulling off my mask with one hand as I steered with the other, I smiled genuinely and replied, “I know. I know you love me as much as I love you. Your relationship with Dan is complicated, isn’t it? But I know it isn’t the same type of love, I can see it in your eyes and in your reaction to him.”
I would let her figure it out herself, but I was fairly certain that her feelings towards Dan were akin to mine towards Hannah and Lilly.

Mine
12. Skydiving with no parachute
Genre: Min Yoongi x oc
Warnings: none
Word Count: 3.3k
“You’re all packed and ready to go, right?” Sebastian’s voice is loud and clear as I put him on speaker phone and place him on the nightstand.
“Just about,” I respond, folding another shirt and placing it in my suitcase. “I’m just wrapping it up right now. What time will you guys be here tomorrow?”
Bong-cha is out for a meeting at the Bighit building, she promised to come back as soon as possible so we could enjoy the evening together. I decided to make the most of my afternoon and pack everything up.
“Rhea said we’ll swing by at 6.”
Our flight leaves tomorrow morning at 9:30, sending us back over to Europe for another week of promos and then we’ll be off to the states. Home sweet home.
“Ok, sounds great.”
“See ya tomorrow.”
“Bye.”
For all that’s gone on over the past few weeks, today is too calm and quiet. I have the entire house to myself, nobody is blowing up my phone, and I have nowhere to really go today. Any other day, I would have been over the moon about my current situation...but I can’t help but feel a little restless.
Yoongi and I brainstormed yesterday for a long time, trying to figure out just how we were going to make this work. Living on opposite sides of the world and the both of us having busy schedules that just so happen to be in the spotlight isn’t exactly making this easy.
There was a point yesterday where Yoongi stopped mid-sentence and looked at me with bright red cheeks.
“Is this moving too fast? I mean, I know you said we’re on the same page, but I think we should try to make this as normal as possible, you know?”
That statement alone was enough to have me swooning over him all over again. “I’m with you on that. I think right now...should we just focus on the basics?”
To be honest, I still don’t even know what we are, but I’m just happy to know that we are something.
At least, that’s what I’m trying to entertain myself with now that I’m just sitting on the couch and staring at Bong-cha’s TV. I’m not even sure what I’m watching, the thoughts in my head are too loud to think around anyway.
There’s a lot that I end up doing within the confines of the apartment. I can safely say that I’ve completed 12 ½ squats, 3 pushups, and one thirty second wall sit.
I’ve also eaten approximately three meals in the past two hours, so yeah. Boredom can be a dangerous thing, can’t it?
The reality of the situation is this: I’ve completed everything I need to do for the day, and now I’m just trying to stop myself from marching back into my room and folding Yoongi’s black shirt for the fifth time.
Eventually I end up scrolling through the outlines my agent has sent me, mulling over each option. There’s one project that is especially calling my name, but from what I’ve heard there’s a couple of pretty big actresses going after it.
I’m in the middle of a very convincing monologue when Bong-cha walks in.
“Wow,” she chuckles at me while dropping her bag on the counter. “Looks like you’re having a great time.”
“Oh, yeah.” I shrug, putting my phone away. “I’m trying to memorize this monologue for an audition. It’s all about this forbidden love back in the 1700s, it sounds like it would be pretty intense. But people love that kind of crap, you know? Hey, how was your meeting?”
Bong-cha is slipping into her room to change into something more comfortable. “It was fine, pretty boring. Just wrapping up some final details. Jungkook said to tell you hello, by the way.”
We both know who I’m really itching to ask about, but I refrain from asking for the time being. “So what’s on the agenda for tonight? We can go out, eat at that one restaurant, you know the one by the park? That place never gets old. Or we can stay in, order takeout.” I quickly add once I notice the look of pure exhaustion on Bong-cha’s face.
Rolling her shoulders, she shoots me a tired smile. “Don’t you want to go out? I don’t want to be lame for your last night here.”
“No, I really don’t care. Sometimes it’s nice to just chill at home.”
It doesn’t take much more convincing before Bong-cha is on the phone and ordering up some food. We settle down in the front room, bickering over different movies and chatting about my promo schedule.
“So you’re going back to Europe? Why? Weren’t you just there?”
I shrug my shoulders. “Yeah, but we weren’t able to finish up everything that we wanted to because we came here. So we’ll be there for a week in Germany and Italy.”
“And then you’re heading home?”
“Yep.”
“When are you going to start bringing me souvenirs? I always-” Bong-cha is cut off by the sound of someone knocking on the door. “Oh, there’s the food. Anyways, like I was saying- oh!”
I jump up from my seat, heart pounding in my chest as I hope against hope that a certain dear friend of mine is at the door.
“Hi, I intercepted your delivery guy.”
Jimin holds up our food with a shy smile, giving me a little wave. Bong-cha takes a moment to recover, but when she does she invites him in and scolds him for doing the deliverer’s job.
“Are you packed now?” Jimin asks me from where he’s unloading our food on the counter. Bong-cha is moving about in a frenzy, pulling glasses from the cupboards and shooting me panicked expressions any chance she gets.
It’s all I can do to not burst out laughing at the situation. “Yeah, everything is ready to go. Actually, would you mind taking something back to Yoongi for me?” When Jimin nods I rush into my room and grab the black t-shirt from my bed.
“Wow, you stole his clothes? That’s pretty bold of you,” Jimin teases me before setting the shirt down where he’ll remember it. “Here’s your plate.”
I take the plate from him, making some lame excuse about needing something from the kitchen and sidling over to Bong-cha. “Invite him to stay for the movie,” I breathe out, hoping she hears me.
“Have you eaten?” Bong-cha asks as she stomps on my foot. I yelp, rushing out of the kitchen.
“No, not yet. I’ll eat later, though.”
“Well...Cara and I were just going to watch a movie tonight. You can stay if you want, we’ll order more food.”
Jimin’s smile could power New York City as he looks at Bong-cha. “Sure, that’d be nice.”
We fall into an easy conversation, the three of us lounging about and scarfing down our food. Jimin ends up ordering a ghastly amount of food and treats, so much that it looks like we’re hosting a party. I can tell that Bong-cha is one churro away from offering Jimin her hand in marriage as he laughs at a funny part in the movie.
7:06 ME: Soooo Jimin and Bong-cha?
It’s surprisingly easy to angle my phone away from their attention as the two of them are lost in their own little world. One watches the movie while the other watches the person, and then they switch.
7:09 MYG: What, the fact that he’s completely whipped for her?
“What are you over there giggling about?” Bong-cha asks me, wiggling her eyebrows. Jimin tries to do the same, looking like some evil experiment.
“What? The movie is really funny.”
“Cara.”
“Yeah?”
“The main character’s mother just died.”
“Oh.”
Jimin leans back, stretching a bit. “I bet she’s texting Yoongi. That’s all he’s ever doing these days, anyways.” My face burns which leads Jimin to give a triumphant shout.
“Has he confessed his undying love for you yet?” Bong-cha asks. Jimin jumps in next.
“He basically did yesterday, didn’t he?”
“No, Cara just said that they’re working through the basics. No ‘I love yous’ or anything yet.”
“Yeah,” Jimin rests his hands on his knees, angling himself toward Bong-cha. “But actions speak louder than words.”
Now Bong-cha leans forward as well, my own participation in this conversation long forgotten. “That’s true, but you can’t just rely on actions alone! Sometimes words are necessary.”
“So girls want actions and words?”
“Of course they do! Actions can be misleading, words at least offer a clear explanation!”
Jimin looks like he’s caught between telling Bong-cha he loves her or pulling her closer. “But words can be misleading as well! Why can’t people just connect the dots through someone’s actions?”
7:12 ME: Oh my gosh they’ve got it baaaad
7:12 ME: This is honestly the most fun I’ve had all day, just watching them. Are they always this oblivious?
“Because nobody should have to rely on that one thing alone! There should be a healthy balance between actions and words. Say what you intend, and follow up with your actions! It’s as simple as that!” Bong-cha is nearly panting, but there’s a hint of a smile curling around her lips.
Jimin scans her face for a moment longer, eyes lingering on the bridge of her nose and the way her hair falls into her face when she’s riled up.
“Huh. Interesting.” With that Jimin sits back, returning his attention to the screen. Bong-cha follows suit almost immediately.
“Idiots,” I mumble under my breath.
“What was that?” Bong-cha asks.
“Oh, nothing. Just reading out loud.”
🌙
12:17 MYG: Sorry, I just got out of a meeting. I didn’t mean to not respond. To answer your question, yes. They’re always like that.
I’m wide awake and staring up at the ceiling when Yoongi messages me. Snatching my phone from the bedside table, I scan the text.
12:18 ME: You just finished your meeting? Why was it so late?
12:20 MYG: I had to change some things with the mixtape, so there were a lot of things to go over.
Frowning, I hastily type out another question.
12:21 ME: What are you changing? I thought it was perfect the way it was before, but I’m sure whatever you changed will be good too.
12:25 MYG: It’s not as bad as it sounds. I just finally found a concept that I thought really fit. Now we’re just trying to make sure everything flows with the concept.
12:27 ME: What’s the new concept?
A while passes before Yoongi responds, and I try to trick myself into thinking that we’re done talking for the night so I can finally get some rest. Of course, once my phone lights up with a new message I’m just as awake as ever.
12:52 MYG: You’ll see when it drops in December 😌
12:55 ME: Rude.
12:57 MYG: Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping right now? What time are you leaving in the morning?
1:00 ME: Leaving here at 6, flight leaves at 9:30.
Sighing into the darkness I watch at those three little dots appear at the bottom of the screen. I can’t lie and say that I wasn’t disappointed that I didn’t even get to see Yoongi today, but it’s just now that I’m realizing I didn’t even get to say goodbye.
I’ve told myself a million times today that this is just how it’s going to be, and that I’ll just take what I can get. If it’s tired late night texts, then I’ll take it.
I think that scares me. It scares me, how little I want from him. How he has so much sway over my heart.
It’s a good scary, I think. Like the kind of scared you get before you jump out of a plane, your first time going skydiving. Right now I’m just hoping that my parachute isn’t riddled with holes, but as I stare at those three little dots, I’m wondering if I even remembered to put a parachute on in the first place.
1:02 MYG: You should go to sleep, Car. Let’s facetime tomorrow? Just shoot me a text when you land.
As my tired fingers text out a goodnight, I can’t help but feel like I’m an idiot for skydiving without a parachute, because the ground seems to be approaching too fast.
🌙
All I know is there’s an alarm going off, and I want to kill it.
“Whaaaat do you want from meeee,” I groan out as I fumble in the darkness for my phone. Once it’s silenced, I check the time.
5:15 am. I’m disgusted.
Stumbling around the room until I hit the lightswitch, I hiss as light fills the room. Through squinted eyes I can see my suitcase and the clothes I laid out for today. I’m ashamed to say that I nearly sustained a concussion while attempting to put my pants on, my tangled legs and the dresser being the main culprits.
I think it goes without saying that by the time I emerge from the room and finish brushing my teeth, I’m ready to go back to bed.
The sounds of Bong-cha using the toaster guide me, suitcase in tow. Now comes the hardest part: saying goodbye.
“Do you want jam as well or just butter?” A deep, tired sounding voice asks me.
Min Yoongi stands before the toaster, decked out in sweats and a sweatshirt. His hair is a mess, standing up on the ends. His eyes are still half-closed, his lips in a pout as he turns to face me.
I gape at him, taking in what I think might be his best choice of outfit ever. “Is this a dream?”
He shakes his head slowly. “It’s too cold outside to be a dream. Jam or just butter?”
Later I’ll cover for myself and claim that my tears were just a side effect of the early morning and the long day ahead of me, but right now I can’t think up any excuse as hot tears start falling down my cheeks.
“J-jam.”
Yoongi’s eyes widen as he notices my predicament, and he clears the kitchen in no time, leaving the toast abandoned. I think he must be tired as well, because he doesn’t even hesitate before pulling me into his arms and squeezing me tight.
My arms wrap around his back, hands getting lost in the fabric of his hoodie. He presses his lips to the top of my head, the action causing me to snuggle in even deeper and get his hoodie all wet with my tears.
“Y-you came...and made m-me toast?” The words are muffled, but it’s quiet enough in the house that he hears me.
“Should I not have?” Yoongi asks, and I pull away just enough to look up at him, scowling.
“No, I’m happy you d-did. It’s just…” I take a steadying breath, more tears flooding my eyes as Yoongi looks down at me with a soft expression I’ve never seen before.
“I know.” He pulls me back in, hands rubbing soothing circles on my back. “I know, Car.”
We stay like that for a long while, and it’s only when my sniffles have subsided that Yoongi gently takes my hands in his and leads me over to the kitchen island. I sit down, watching as he spreads butter and then jam onto my toast.
Setting the plate before me he reaches into the fridge for some orange juice and pours us both a glass.
“Sorry, it’s probably cold now.”
I shake my head, taking another bite. “Still tastes good. Thank you.”
“Oh, that reminds me.” Yoongi gets up, one hand tracing over my shoulders and he walks over to the couch. “This is for you.”
He hands me a small package wrapped in brown wrapping paper, a black ribbon tied around the middle. I raise my eyebrows at him.
“A present? Can I open it?”
“Open it when you get to your hotel tonight.” Yoongi looks a bit embarrassed as he sits back down, and I realize that he might be feeling a little out of his element here. After all, when was the last time he ever had a relationship?
I get up and put the package away in my suitcase, groaning when I check the time. Everyone should be here in about 5 minutes.
“Times up?”
Looking up I see Yoongi wandering over to me, hands pushing his hair back in an effort to tame it. I nod solemnly.
We don’t speak a word as I meet him halfway, fingers entangling themselves in the hair at the nape of his neck. He closes his eyes for a moment, and I take advantage of the situation, leaning up and pressing a peck to his jaw.
I can hear his sharp intake of breath, quickly followed by Bong-cha’s annoyed voice.
“Really? Get a room, losers.”
Blushing madly, I try to squirm out of Yoongi’s grasp but his gruff laugh has me stilling in his arms. “Turn around, Bong-cha.” Without waiting to see if she will, Yoongi leans down and presses a long, slow kiss to my lips.
It’s not nearly long enough as the sound of a car honking outside pulls us apart. Yoongi has a somber look in his eyes as he gives me an encouraging nod and a small peck to my forehead before stepping back.
Bong-cha skips forward, launching herself into my arms. “You two are gross, but I still love you.”
“Love you too,” I whisper, my tears threatening to make a reappearance. Bong-cha seems to pick up on it, shoving the handle of my suitcase into my hands and pushing me toward the door.
Yoongi beats me to it, swinging it open and clenching his jaw as a blast of cold air hits us. Without a word he takes my suitcase and heads out, leaving me with nothing to do but follow him and hope I have everything.
“Bong-cha?” I turn around to see my friend wrapping her arms around her middle.
“Yeah?”
“Keep me updated. Jimin...he really likes you.”
My friend doesn’t have it in her to roll her eyes, instead just nodding before waving me off. She’s never been one for goodbyes.
Yoongi is already at the car, handing my suitcase off to Ren who hoists it into the car. He looks like he’s freezing, but as he turns to wave me over I decide that freezing looks good on him.
“Be careful, call me, text me, have a safe flight-”
“You’ve got to stop worrying so much, Yoongs.”
Smiling down at me even as he shivers, Yoongi pulls me in for another embrace. There are so many words hanging between us, but I choose to sweep past them and opt to nuzzle my face deeper into Yoongi’s neck.
“See you soon.”
I sigh, hoping that I will. “Yeah, soon.”
🌙
The airport, flight, and car ride to the hotel pass in a blur of shapes and colors. I vaguely remember there being a mob at both the Seoul and Berlin airports, but I was stuffed so tightly between security that I could hardly see anything.
Now, sitting on the edge of my bed, I hold onto the little package from Yoongi. Holding my breath, I untie the ribbon and tear open the paper, chewing on my lip.
An audible gasp leaves my lips as I hold up Yoongi’s black t-shirt. As it unfolds, a small slip of paper flutters to the ground. Holding the shirt to my nose I grin as I realize Yoongi must have sprayed it with his cologne. I wonder who’s idea that was; my bet is on Jimin.
Grabbing the paper, I flip it over to see Yoongi’s handwriting.
It looks better on you.
Chuckling softly to myself, I hurry and slip the shirt over my head. It’s quiet in here, but soon the sound of my video call fills the room as I anxiously wait for Yoongi to pick up.
