AC/DC is a VERY smart song, one of the reasons it’s my favorite lyrically in the show is that it’s so explicitly about electric trains and has multiple references to super interesting issues/traits with them. This doesn’t go into the broader electricity puns (which are shockingly versatile), just the ones most relevant to trains

“Feel my magnetism”

I’m still trying to figure out if this is an issue with remotely modern electric trains and motors, but I have heard a claim about a turn of the century New York Central S-motor (one of the very first mass produced electric locomotives!) basically “picking up and stealing” some tools left near the track this way and then dropping them when switched off.  Basically the whole “pulling in things with magnetism” has at least some real life precedent with trains.  

“AC/DC it’s okay by me/ I can switch and change my frequency”

This was perhaps the defining feature of the CC 40100 Electra’s helmet was based on.  Due to inconsistent electrification systems (due to early 20th century tech limits) it’s very common to have 2,3, even 4 voltage locomotives and EMUs since it’s cheaper and easier than replacing all that infrastructure.  Having both AC and DC compatibility is actually super old, the New Haven Railroad had one of the first AC-powered lines ever and the very first AC locomotives there had to be equipped for both it and the existing DC third rail in other sections.  But being able to run on multiple AC frequencies is much more recent, and the CC 40100 was an early example of it.  The Northeast Corridor in the US actually requires trains capable of running on THREE different AC voltages/frequencies, being able to “change your frequency” is an important requirement there (and in continental Europe)  

Basically, silly 70s-80s era bi allusions are just how electric trains are.  It’s so out there but so on the nose.  It’s probably the single smartest writing decision of the show because it works so well and talking train media otherwise NEVER talks about these aspects of electrification.  

“I can shock you, I can set you on fire”

The history of diesel and electric trains involves so, so much spontaneous combustion.  Exploding is almost exclusively a steam engine thing, but if they wanted to dramatically kill Electra or Greaseball or any of the Nationals, this is always an option and weirdly underused.  

“I can reach up and pluck down the lightning/watch the conductor, see the live wire”

Direct reference to overhead electrification and how pantographs are raised to make contact.   Also fun play on train conductor/electrical conductor, which is popular in trolley/train jokes.  This system is something almost exclusive to trains and part of why they are so established, efficient, widespread and convenient as electric vehicles.  They’re genuinely absurdly OP vs basically all other forms of traction since they don’t have to carry their own fuel/power supply and can have ridiculously high single-unit power since the only limit is how much capacity the power grid has (and how much can be practically used without wheelslip).  Due to their fixed paths they can run this way vs needing batteries and totally bypass the decades of density limits those had.  Even today batteries are not really practical as a main power source for anything bigger than commuter EMUs and switchers.  

(Trolleybuses are a thing and there’s been attempts at sticking pantographs on trucks… and I guess bumper cars technically count too lol) 

Shoutout to Stexico for having a very different chorus with somehow the exact same sentiment. 

“Macho/Hembra es mi conector” (Male/Female is my connector)

This is just a hilariously matter of fact statement about the electrical connections on AAR standard passenger engines and coaches, which I think Mexico uses since their rail system is so US-based but I could be wrong (privatization axed basically all their passenger services around the time Stexico came out and there’s very little even today).  The stuff about “with my switch I connect you” is also incredibly matter of fact because there’s usually a separate switch or dial to turn on head end power on locomotives.  

Electra is based on this very 70s bi stereotype/trope that lumps in the botanical definition of “bisexual” and makes characters “both male and female” in a way that’s inconsistently trans, GNC, and/or literally being 50/50 both in a way that doesn’t work that way in humans.  Velvet von Ragnar from Never Too Young to Die is almost IDENTICAL in this regard as another example.  But the hilarious thing is that it’s just… incredibly matter of fact and literal when applied to electric trains because so many of them are able to run on both AC and DC power because rail electrification is so messy and many of them are technically “both male and female” going off electrical connections.

Anyways, tangent aside

I do not know enough German to appreciate the intricacies of stuff like word choice or idioms in the translated lyrics but these ones are fun because they’re explicitly about overhead wires

“Steh unter Spannung”

I’ve seen the translation given as “I’m a live wire” but the more literal one seems to be “stand under tension/power/voltage” which I honestly like more no matter which one “Spannung” means here.  I know voltage is sometimes called “pressure” as in water pressure in English, which this might be a case of.  The allusion to voltage/power in overhead wire is obvious, but  literal catenary wire tension is also SO important specifically in rail electrification.  The wire has to be tight and straight enough to make proper contact with the pantograph (and getting the upwards pressure on those is also important).  Europe has mostly reasonably modern lines with adjustable weights to keep wire tension constant but the northeast US has HUGE issues with outdated systems with fixed wires that sag in the heat (then get snagged on pantographs and torn down) or snap in the cold when they shrink/expand.

“Holt den Blitz aus der Leitung,” (Takes the lightning out of the wire)

Also seems to be a direct reference to pantograph pressure/contact with overhead lines, similar to the English version of this line.  There’s a strong hand/arm association with pantographs in general due to their design, modern ones bend in arm-like ways and “touch” the wire in a very particular way.

Also this is probably just wild coincidence but “Griff” makes me laugh because Zaine Griff was the workshop Electra.

I find it easier to draw people when I draw them paper doll style, naked first lol. it helps kind of set up the character in my mind.

Like the warden who's built tough but compact, able to swing her battle-axe and tank hits from oncoming darkspawn hordes. Scars from longsword slashes and near miss arrows in her shoulders. She shaved her hair off after the attack on the cousland castle, getting a fresh start with the wardens and its convenient for war time, so the darkspawn can't grab ahold of her. She's clean-cut, no piercings and doesn't paint her nails but keeps them cut short and tidy, and slathers blue paint across her eyes before armoring up.

Hawke who is taller and lankier, mostly fighting mercenaries in the back alley, so she doesn't need to be quite as built as the warden but still has to swing her big sword around and fight qunari. She's depressed the whole game, so sometimes she doesn't take care of herself as she should, forgetting to eat at times. Long scars from big qunari axes and being impaled by the arishok. Pierced ears and a lip ring, iconic red swipe across her nose, hawke almost always has painted nails, a feeling of control for her.

And the inquisitor, who spent most her life as a mercenary. Being qunari she's naturally more built, but a hard life has her built like a tank. Eyes turned supernaturally green, altered by the mark. She's a mage turned knight-enchanter able to zip across the battlefield and lash out close combat. Her scars are more sporadic, wiggly scars from magic and demons from the fade, more scars from cross-bolts than arrows as the times change. Horns wrapped in steel, tipped with gold that matches her pierced ears. She lets josephine paint her nails sometimes, usually to match her vitaar. She always paints up before going out, more elaborate designs for bigger battles, the design incorporating the inquisition's eye, a reminder that the eyes of the world are upon her.

How What if...Zombies Spidey gets to the DCU

This is about how Zombie!Peter (And possibly others) got to the DCU. the third part will be the HC on what he is going to be doing overther, but for now wh need to know how he got there

Ok so anything that happens on Earth has absolutely no effect on the rest of the universe, that means that all of the guardian movies and Thor Ragnarok happens when they originally did in the OG timeline.

"But Thor and Loki met Strange 3 days before Infinity war" SHhhhhhh, trust and listen. Since Loki really didn't want to deal with his dad, Instead of just sending him to Earth, She sends him to a different reality Earth. How? But studying the space stone of course. Not to mention he spent a good while researching and studying the aether when he was king and before they sent it to the collector. With this in mind, Loki taught himself how to access and travel to different realities (Remember this)

That means that Bruce B. gets back on Earth at the same time he did in the original, in 2018. Infinity war takes place in about a day or so and seeing as Thanos is on Earth by the end of the episode, let's say that the episode takes place over a time period of about 24-48 hours. A weekend if you will.

That, adding onto the fact I made the zombie apocalypse 7-8 months long instead of 1 month changes a few things timeline wise. Not only does it push Ant-Man & The Wasp back many months, It also means that there's a high chance Bucky's brainwashing isn't 100% gone, and that the apocalypse started around a year or so after Homecoming.

What about Thor? Well Thor doesn't really die, Loki just sees the explosion of the ship and just assumes. He still teams up with half the guardians and everything still happens like the movie for him until he gets to Wakanda.

(The Guardians? Canon. Literally the only difference could be that maybe Peter Q. and Co. die immediately on Titan without the space roadtrip trio.)

Okoye Was sent to America and everything went to hell lol.

No but Seriously, The King was gone, Okoye went to look for him, and Wakanda was left pretty defenseless. I say that the country was already compromised before she left, but it only started causing trouble after she left, so she has no clue what happened. the important thing isn't Okoye though, no the important thing is Thor. More specifically, Thor, Rocket and Groot when they get there. I can see 2 things happening.

1-they get infected immediately and all of a sudden you get a Zombified God with an axe walking around with a tree and a raccoon. All there while his brother is watching the man, he thought was dead, truly die. ( he gets the feeling that this is Karma) Or,

2- They fight the Zombies thinking they are part of Thanoses army like total badasses, not knowing what they are fighting or getting infected. All while Loki I absolutely shell shocked watching this from a 5th monster mouth agape. (Ones watching visions base with the king and witch, Twos watching the group trying to get to the base, Threes watching some old guy sitting in a park absolutely unbothered, And Forths could be the other dead people from the last post, idk, the separate continuity for the AU gets a mention lol)}

If a character dies off screen but the situation is bad and impossible for said person to get out of, it's death. BUT, if a character is killed off screen but theoretically they could escape, they can live.

Ex For this rule: Happy is hit by a speeding car off screen that implies death= Death, Reason? He's a normal dude T'Challa is hit by a speeding car off screen that implies death= Can Live, Reason? He has the powers of the Black Panther

So my proposition for you today is simple. take our god Loki with his obsession with the space stone and have him cast a spell to have every living being on the planet left, come with him to whatever other reality he's taking them to. and thus the crossover commences.

They all travel and end up at the same place they were in their original universe. (Omg I just realized Loki could end up at the watchtower lol)

So I need to ramble about One Thing that happened to me in the GB house on the final night that just. Meant the world to me and I keep crying every time I think about it (in the best way possible)

So when you enter, you start off in Ray’s Occult Bookstore, and Ray is at his desk with the orb of Garraka, taking readings on it and then talks about the death chill. And when he talks about it, he follows the guests behind the desk and “talks” to them, stopping at his bookcase and just watching people leave to go to the next room.

Usually whenever I saw him doing that he’d shift focus with everyone in the room, then he’d go and peek through the shelf and have a very serious look on his face.

So my last run for cast A, I came in right as he was doing that. And this man locked eyes with me, and did the death chill talk to me, and only me, then when I went by his book case, he got his big smile on his face and stuck his hand through the shelf and waved at me before I went into the next room, and his smile got bigger when I threw up the heart hands at him (I did it for everyone bc was gonna miss it)

And man. It such a small gesture but it meant a lot that he took a second to smile and wave at me on the final night.

I had a lot of amazing interactions in that house from scare actors waving at me, doing silly lil’ heart hands, and some even coming up and booping Stantz (shout out to the fireman who always booped Stantz with his axe lol), but that one I think takes the cake. That meant the world.

I’m just. So proud of myself for being brave and attending the event finally, and getting to go through a house based off a franchise that I adore so much and being brave enough to go through it myself and have such fun interactions.

Now we wait until the 14th when the mega movie parade ends and I’m a mess from that bc I’m gonna miss seeing the boys in the park 🥺😭

Hi Lemon! I know you’re enjoying your BG3 right now so no rush, but I’ve been thinking of some F+B lore combined with GRRM’s infamous post about the show, and I’m a bit confused. He claims that the show could replace Maelor with Jaehaera in his death scene in order to give Helaena the grief she needs to meet her suicide, but that wouldn’t work because “Jaehaera has a huge role to play as Aegon's next heir.” It was my understanding that she was never named Aegon’s heir, and was in fact considered “simple” (likely Westeros’ version of mentally challenged) as a way to avoid having Aegon name her in the first place. But this seems not the case? Did I misunderstand, or is this more him tearing into the show and maybe fudging some details?

My other issue (I don’t blame him for being mad of course, did we not all have problems with HOTD S2 lololol) is he’s also fixated on Maelor as the reason for Helaena’s death in the first place, yet we’re given a few suggestions for her suicide, and the maesters even question why she would kill herself now when Daeron is seemingly very close to recovering KL for the Greens. I assumed it was a combination of many things; she has been mad with grief since Jaehaerys’ death, her daughter is long gone, her husband gravely injured and also unknown to her, and she is a prisoner in her castle. Finding out about Maelor’s death would likely have been the final straw, but again, it’s not presented as the sole reasoning here? Idk maybe that is just me nitpicking! I’m glad he laid into the show, but having spent a while discussing F+B with friends, it’s always funny to me when he comes out with “actually this was what happened.” Okay, you didn’t write it that way 😂

So, I definitely think that GRRM went on and on about Maelor in his post because that was the tamest aspect he could criticise without burning bridges with the show executives. And perhaps that is why it comes out like Maelor is more important than he truly is in the books. That post was more of a strategy push than anything, he wanted to publicly show he was REALLY upset and that he was ready to air his concerns publicly if they don't stop compromising the integrity of the story.

So, in that regard, the heart of the issue is that, in the show, they've basically eliminated any reason for Helaena's suicide. She was sad all of 10 minutes about Jaehaerys, is over it already in the S2 finale, doesn't give a shit about her brother's impending doom, doesn't give a shit about her brother-husband's condition. What is there to be sad about? Despairing enough so that she'd fling herself out of the window? Unless they'll make Rhaenyra herself push her (they won't) or it's going to be framed as another fucking accident, there's no way to explain her death. So it's easy and safe for him to keep on about Maelor, since this is a problem anyone can understand, no matter which side of the team wars they're on.

Coming back to Jaehaera, I've always maintained that there is no reason to give her a learning disability unless GRRM never meant for her to be considered as a proper inheritor in the first place. Even if Aegon II had been the world's most feminist dad, he couldn't have passed the throne to her, because she wouldn't have had the capacity for rule. So, if GRRM intended for Aegon to truly grapple with this issue of wanting his line to continue but only having a daughter and how to present this as a solution when he just deposed another woman, then he wouldn't have made Jaehaera "simple" and disqualified her from the start.

So, maybe he realised that and regrets it? Maybe FB was a way bigger volume with many more details that explained all this but they had to be cut for length? And Jaehaera's situation was one of those sections that got the axe?

If GRRM is reading my blog and needs reasons to justify himself rhetorically (LOL), I can provide one for free: IMO, if you remove her being condition and deem it untrue gossip (let's say), Jaehaera being named Aegon's heir was never an issue, because it respects Andal Law. It doesn't even make the greens hypocritical or scheming villains for deposing Rhaenyra. As per Andal Law, Aegon is the elder son of Viserys II, so he should inherit, and Jaehaera is his only living child, so she should inherit after him. A son comes before a daughter and a daughter comes before an uncle (or a nephew). Easy!

This is true enough. :)) I think that, for all this talk of how interesting it is to write backstory like a history book and present various possible versions (which it is!), a writer MUST surely "know" deep within his heart of hearts which of those he intended to be true and which not. hey i see you to go a lot of shows (not a complaint ofc) and was wondering if you have any tips or tricks on how to secure tickets? i always end up failing and having to spend a billion dollars on resale every time i go to a show lol

yes i do! it's very complicated process so i'll explain as much as i can but if anyone has follow up questions i'll be happy to clarify.

one small disclaimer: i've only ever bought tickets in the US, so all this information pertains to shows in the US through US buyers, so if you're outside of the US i dont really know much about the systems to offer any help.

okay so! my first tips can be done in advance to gain knowledge and be prepared.

follow all your favorite artists on social media - this is to be made aware of announcements as soon as possible! it also lets you know of when to start saving up some money, because we know the normal schedule of how the rollout works, they announce a single, an album and then a tour (usually) and the presale for tours usually happen a week after the announcement- so very little time to save up. the second they announce a single or start teasing something is when i make the assumption that a tour announcement will follow shortly.

follow these update accounts - i follow concertleaks on twitter and they basically post a bunch of news the second it's announced. i know i said to follow your favorite artists, but sometimes some artists slip through the cracks or you just forget, this account has alerted me to so many artists i love (but forgot to follow) going on tour. i have alerts for this account turned on so i see the announcements immediately.

follow your fav local venues - either on social media or through email, they can send you updates of who's performing there once it's announced. i literally just did this and found out a band that made one of my favorite albums ever is doing an anniversary tour and performing that whole album live for the first time and got tickets!

have multiple ticketmaster accounts - ticketmaster is the monster that plagues the nation. however there are some ways to trick it. one of the ways is to have multiple accounts. i personally have 3, but with every account you'll need a unique/individual email and phone number. now email is easy, you can make as many emails as you want, but phone numbers get more tricky. i have 1 under my phone number, 1 under my moms and one under my brothers bc i know i can trust them to send me codes (the one ticketmaster sends you during the buying process) when they happen. so if there's anyone in your life that will let you use their phone number and can text you codes when necessary- make an extra account under that phone number. let's say you can make 2 accounts, this way you can use 2 different accounts during 1 presale and double your chances of getting through the queue earlier and getting tickets.

make sure your payment info is all set up beforehand - just makes things move quicker, make sure you have your credit card set up in ticketmaster so you're not sitting in checkout having to type everything. i also just have my card by me irl just in case lol.

that's all stuff that can be done beforehand. now for the actual buying process.

there's basically 2 categories in my mind of buying tickets. smaller artists and bigger artists. small artists are obviously a lot easier for many reasons. one is less competition and pressure in the actual buying process, but a lot of smaller artists dont only use ticketmaster. they use apps like AXS or go directly with the venues website. this one doesnt need much input outside of the steps we went over to be done beforehand. bigger artists is where it gets more rough.

it's presale day, dooms day, the big game. depending on the sale of the artist, i asses how hard im gonna have to go. for example- beyonce or taylor tickets require all hands on deck, i used all 3 of my accounts on ticketmaster, but i recently got lucy dacus tickets and i knew it wasnt gonna be as big of a war zone so i only used 1. when using more than 1 account, you cannot be logged into them all on the same device, ticketmaster will throw a fit and log you out bc it thinks you're a bot (like they care about bots anyways-), so if im doing all 3 i'll have 1 account logged into on my desktop, then another account on my phone, and another on my ipad.

i like to log on about 30 minutes before the sale. i get on ticketmaster, make sure my payment info is still all set up and the right card is set to the default, im in the right account (and if im using multiple, check that none of them are the same so im not in the same account on 2 devices) and then i search for the artists, find the show im planning on going to, and wait in the waiting room. i try to close all my other tabs so my computer is smoothly operating. i also have whatever presale code given to me typed up in a different window, so i can copy and paste it in, saves about 5 seconds and i can get in quicker.

about 10 minutes before the presale starts you get invited to go into the waiting room, i go in asap, make sure all my devices are also in the waiting room. and once you're let into the queue you just pay attention to which one is moving the fastest/closes to the front of the line. once you get into the buying process, past your code and this is where luck comes in. i just start hovering over and find the tickets in my price range (which is something you should also know beforehand). the second i click on what i need i RUN out and pay.

Seriously cannot wait for her!!

I saw the movie two nights ago and absolutely loved it. Here are some of my take-aways (possible spoilers below):

• I thought the costuming was super fun!! Her dress did not look cheap to me, and overall, it all looked like a good mix between bright fairytale pieces and fairly accurate middle age toward renaissance details. Also I was so obsessed with her shoes omg!

• Her hair was better than in initially seemed. Is she still giving pageboy? Sometimes. But I liked it, and it made her appear very youthful.

• I, too, was initially put off by Rachel Zegler's comments on the original film and the characterization of the prince. But with the seamless changes that were implemented and how it fit into the storyline...I found myself agreeing with her critiques, no matter how brash her presentation came across.

• I thought the seven dwarfs were adorable, not at all creepy. Dopey reminded me of Billy from Polar Express!

• The overall aesthetics were perfectly reminiscent of the original film, which is a major part of why I've always loved it so much!

• I am a big fan of these live action films, and so far my least favorite has been BatB, but it's still a decent movie. I truly love how much personality is added to each of the characters, particularly the love interests (where applicable). The casting and more developed storyline in SW made the relationship—and life-saving kiss—much more realistic. And, fun fact, the prince WAS supposed to have a bigger role in the animated film, but apparently he was too difficult to draw, and with time constraints as well, he mostly got axed except where strictly necessary. So I appreciate the live action having the time to explore the connection.

• The added songs were a lot of fun, and I wish the physical album were easier to come by!

• The Queen was my least favorite character, but that checks out. She also had my least favorite song lol.

• This film also felt like a very apt assessment and commentary on current social and political issues, so good for them. Major companies and artistic creators like Disney need to use their platforms at times like these, as they did during WWII with their animated shorts.

so here's the tav i've happily settled on and who feels correct:

This is all very much a WIP because I usually prefer to flesh out OCs after finishing the piece of media they belong to, so everything below is subject to change lol. Just hit the Underdark part of the game with her.

Not quite sure where the drow pantheon sits in BG3 lore but while she's got the red eyes she's a devotee of Eilistraee and still cares deeply for her people (if not the tyranny of Lolth) and spent her time pre-tadpole ferrying drow out of the Underdark and learned her ranger skills that way. She has two spider familiars/companions, the little guy looking like an overlarge jumping spider and the bigger one your classic dire spider fare.

I like playing her Neutral alignment wise, but with Wyll's influence is edging into Chaotic Good territory. She's very much a Good is Not Nice kind of lady - she doesn't have great people skills, is blunt and aggressive but will be the type to save the tiefling kid from Kagha and then tell the kid off for getting herself into trouble.

She initially gets on best with Lae'zel (appreciation for her drive and efficiency) and Karlach (who doesn't get on with Karlach, really) and as a rule of thumb will gravitate toward the outsider kind of archetype. Wyll's drive to do the right thing even if it's the hard thing piques her interest, and the way he deals with Mizora's curse on him is what REALLY draws her to him. As someone who is often judged by appearance she greatly respects his attitude toward the horns, and also deeply relates to his moments of melancholy regarding them. Astarion's the one who can consistently make her laugh in spite of her caution around him, Shadowheart she both pities and admires for her devotion to Shar despite her (in Tav's eyes) youth, and Gale is always in her adventuring party both for his knowledge/expertise and because he's a very needed chill balance for the group. So far, anyways. Weird that the guy who might explode is the most stable emotionally.

I also like to headcanon that she prefers to do the pursuing and while Lae'zel's approach with uh, physical intentions is appreciated it hits a little too close to Llolthsworn culture for Tav's sake. She also isn't much bothered by so many of the team having chronic secret-keeping since she also doesn't really talk about her time embroiled in Lloth worship.

Regarding the Tadpole situation, she's extremely averse to being under control of anything and refuses to use its control on others, valuing freedom to a high degree. She wants it out very badly, but her time in Menzoberranzan has taught her that there is always a bigger scheme at play and to act with surgical precision rather than with an axe in such matters.

Her dream party is Lae'zel, Wyll, and Gale (but in actual gameplay I change it up pretty often as mechanics require / depending on my mood lol)

As someone actually in the community (as in plays the game, frequently goes to locals, Co-TOs, etc), it’s not that big of a deal. I think there should be more popular woman commentators and they do exist, but it’s mostly at a regional level (Chelly, Sp1nda, etc), but they got the most popular commentators who’ve been doing it for years, most of whom have commentated almost if not every single Genesis. There’s definitely an issue with underrepresentation but also who do you axe from the lineup? HMW? Scar and Toph? Vish, Stude, or Slime? People who are legacy commentators in and out of their regions? I promise you that if you go to your local you’ll see more women that you think, and a lot of them are staples in their communities, as both players and commentators. Genesis is the biggest event of the year, having the most popular and well known commentators isn’t the end of the world.

i feel like it is reasonable for me to have a little giggle at these people saying they dropped the ball this year when this is a chronic issue where they only seem to know one woman and bobby scar. it's just like when there's only one woman on every single nfl broadcast, it's ridiculous lol. i've seen women, including chelly, in these threads say that they've applied to commentate bigger events in years past but got discouraged pretty quickly because they all just kept getting rejected. if this many women on melee twitter are expressing gratitude that this issue is finally being addressed and don't have the same hangups you do, someone on anon on tumblr.com will not change my mind on anything

I assume you mean their friendship. Cordelia love fest and mild Lucie crit under the cut.

Cordelia basically laid out all the reasons I don't like their friendship in the book. Lucie is unable to ground herself in reality, and sorry but Cordelia's going to have a lot of heavy trauma now to confront head-on post-ChoT and doesn't need a glorified 10-year-old as her parabatai. Also Lucie telling Cordelia that she's too proud is insane I'm sorry.

I think the bigger kicker for me though is when Lucie sees a swarm of ghosts pop up around Cordelia if they said the words of a parabatai ceremony, goes 'lol,' and pretends she didn't see it and just thinks it'd be fine to proceed with the ceremony. This secret is not on par with "in love with my husband," sorry, and I also think it's really childish of Lucie to act like they're in any way comparable! I don't think she'd even have told Cordelia if not for the secrets demon thing. Like, she's deadass going to get Cordelia killed if she behaves like that.

I also just think they're so different, have no chemistry as friends at all, and lowkey think Lucie holds Cordelia back. But at least she's handy with an ax and patrol probably will go okay.

Since I’ve gotten back to playing Final Fantasy XIV again finally, and while now also being obsessed with my Jojo F/O’s I have decided to come up with something fun ! I wanted to share my thoughts on my Jojo F/O’s and what class they would be in FFXIV !

This is mostly based off of aesthetic, personality and just overall what I think would fit best with them ! And also a bit of comedy thrown in because I enjoy making things lighthearted :D

✁Rudol Von Stroheim: Warrior

Stroheim just radiates Warrior energy, he only has one goal and that is to spam Fell Cleave. Big chaotic energy that the healers simply must keep up with. Hydaelyn forbid he starts sprinting because the healers have to pray that they can keep up with him in time. He pulls wall to wall with enemies in higher level dungeons, he actually does use his cooldowns, uses just about every healing factor that Warrior has that miraculously keeps him and the party alive in tight situations and he knows just about every layout of each dungeon/raid. Who needs a mini map ? Stroheim sure doesn’t. He really is that type of tank to look reckless but actually knows what he’s doing lol. On top of that he texts in the chat in all caps. By accident or intentionally is up to interpretation by the rest of his party lol. His glamours are always the actual tank amour as he only uses other clothing glamours for other classes. He also makes sure he has the biggest axe because bigger is better ! (So he says) He claims that Warrior is the best tank in the world. He also gets player commendations for his entertaining personality and great tank performance !

✁Jonathan Joestar: Paladin

Jonathan 100% mains Paladin. He chose it for the dedication and loyalty to the light and the passion to protect others. He’s the type of tank to always ask the healers what they’re comfortable with in terms of pulling enemies and always communicates with the party. And in trials he asks the other rank if they want to main of be an off tank and he’s totally fine with any position. A gentleman through and through ! He uses his cooldowns effectively and behaves like a proper textbook tank. He uses Clemency as a way to make the healers job a little easier and he always uses Passage of Arms during a huge boss AOE (if the trial/raid is the appropriate level) He also uses emotes when typing in the chat because he’s very friendly like that. Usually gets a player commendation for being a great guy and an amazing tank ! He’s also the type of mentor to actually give out helpful advice to new sprouts :D

✁Josuke Higashikata (DIU): Gunbreaker

Josuke exhibits the confidence and charisma of a Gunbreaker. As soon as he knew the job was available in Shadowbringers it became his main ever since lol. Good news is that he actually took the time to learn it ! He understands that Gunbreaker’s defense isn’t as strong as the other tanks so he uses his cool downs efficiently and will pull normal amounts of enemies in dungeons unless the healer gives him permission to pull more. Better safe than sorry ! He also always makes sure his gear looks great all the time and usually colors his gear purple or blue. He’s also the type to have a really memey macro for Superbolide and sometimes uses it just to give the healer(s) a heart attack lmao. He’s often pretty chill when typing in the chat and explains mechanics to new players with the same aura as a meme lord lol. He also does well to communicate with the party overall and gets player commendations here and there for his fun personality and awesome tank performance ! :D

✁Dio Brando (PB): Dark Knight

Dio meets most of the criteria for a Dark Knight. The cool edgy armor, the overwhelming power of darkness, the hefty sword and the troubled soul who wields it. I’m sure when he discovered this tank in Heavensward, the nature of it piqued his interest quite a bit. He’s a pretty good tank overall, a bit overbearing but nothing the rest of the party can’t handle lol. He’s also the type to infamously type “healers adjust” if anything goes wrong because was it his fault ? No, of course not. Not everyone was following his lead therefore they fell behind. (Or so he tells himself lol) Also the way he types is very vague so no one is really sure if he’s either being rude or just too stubborn to actually type longer sentences lmao. He’s also the type to stand idle and admire his current gear as he waits for queues cause why do other things in the meantime when you can admire your own gear and weapon that you spent hours grinding for ? He also gets a handful of player commendations simply for being a good tank :3

yes, but i don't think the bath and body work ones. tbh I think she'd go for unscented. hand sanitizer is already smelly enough don't need perfume on top of that for her delicate nose lol

I think Ida probably has a little sick-and-poke on her ankle. something simple a flower or the like. She probably got it at a party when she was younger so no. she doesn't really remember who gave it to her just that it happened. she likes the idea of getting more but its low-priorty

23. what’s the pettiest thing your character’s ever done?

ohhhh, probably took something precious during his divorce just so that his ex couldn't have it. a painting, Rossein didn't really care for it but he knew his ex loved it. made his ex choose between two things he loved just so Rossein would have it and not him. Rossien probably threw it out or sold it not too long after.

7. what’s the first thing your character’s eyes are drawn to on a map?

Large cities and waterways. mountains too as those are the only major issue for his travels. he notes roads but they're only a suggestion.

24. what made your character the angriest they’ve ever been?

oh that's a hard one, she's baseline like 9/10 anger at all times so having an upper limit blurs most of them together. Probably finding out who her bio father is and what he did to Freddy. though all of those feelings are combined into a rage-filled spicy soup. alongside the loss of the relationship with her sister and just all the fuckery going on in the campaign.

but yeah, finding out your dad isn't only a cop, but he's also the cop who murdered her bf is a lot. but she's going to kill him wich will make everything better :)

30. how has your character’s first impressions of their party members changed since they met them? have they stayed the same?

ohh boy, this is a lot lmao

Glau: "this guy is weird but seems harmless. 3/10 threat, need more information" -> "this guy is weird, has drugs and can fuck shit up. 5/10 threat, stay on his good side."

Dunrich: "he's quiet, but seems competent. 8/10 threat, killed a harken worshiper more or less in cold blood; keep a watchful eye." -> "on the level, chill and a softy inside (gross) can marginally trust. 4/10 threat, do not move against will kill me if pushed."

Llewyn: "Quiet and on the level (crime). Knows how to get shit done and business-like 6/10 threat" -> "all previous statements are still true, will work with me for money and does not ask unnecessary questions. 9/10 threat, will most likely move against me if paid enough. Keep my eye on her...."

on what planet did i get that much experience in this chapter? holy smokes.

no really i had to literally double check that experience counter. but it's right. god damn. 1200 experience in this dinky little chapter? it really surprises me because i wasn't expecting to get more than 800 experience, no less 150% of that. i can attribute that entirely to bringing no promoted units + bringing a bunch of benchwarmers to get as much experience as possible to soften the blow, but still.

with that in mind, i brought guy + lyn (the "we're going to fucking massacre the bottom fort" team), eliwood (he killed two pirates. good for him.), serra + priscilla + ninian (obvious), fiora + florina (that eastern fort was surprisingly annoying to deal with because of the purge bishop, but preemptively barrier-ing neutered him), and bartre + kent (probably the most precarious of the three fort duos, but bartre loves getting WTA and has enough HP that the ballistas are a joke and kent. . . well he's sure trying.).

funds took a massive hit here for two reasons: i promoted two units (priscilla and florina) and i recruited farina (you didn't think i was gonna renege on that, did you?). in spite of that, i canceled out the loss of an elysian whip by getting the basically free one in this chapter, so it's only a net loss of 30k and change as opposed to 40k. hurray? i'm almost certainly not promoting fiora at this point because, god bless her, she is great value florina and though they do have a nice C support that probably wouldn't be too hard to get to B or maybe even A, there's really no reason to use 3 fliers. heath and florina will basically turbotroll anything i want them to at this point, and while fiora was helpful at times, i just don't see myself fielding her much beyond the next chapter or two.

oh yeah i need to talk about how the chapter went. uhhh well it went kind obviously. fiora and florina raided the east after getting barrier'd by priscilla (which got her enough experience to promote), and they basically were unkillable at that point. the pirates COULD have been scary, but they weren't because only like one out of four hit. guy and lyn had such a trivial time tackling the pirates + warrior in the south that it's almost not even worth mentioning. there was a swordslayer guy, but he was off taking a piss break like 5 tiles north of where everyone else was, so avoiding his aggro range was also trivial.

the screw turning happened with kent and bartre because they were gonna have to juggle the lion's share of enemies with all those god damn cavs + pascal. pascal is like, not the scariest boss ever, but he does move and killing him is a pretty significant task. i put all my hopes and dreams on bartre landing a crit with the killer axe and, well, he did. that left pascal with like no HP left so kent scored the kill and that was that. speaking of kent, he's not nearly tank-y enough to handle the tsunami of suicide units, even on a forest square (the ballistas that are usually a joke to bartre are a much bigger issue for kent, who isn't dodging them and not tanking them like bartre can). so, after losing an attempt (after NEARLY having him tank everything, uwaaaaaaa), nini's grace patched him up and he was fine. thank god for the buff rings man. i cannot believe i didn't use them much until recently. what was i thinking.

anyways last thing to mention is that i could've finished this chapter a turn early if not waiting for farina. the extra turn is worth the. . . loss in 20k gold (arguably more if you're one of those "20k hard gold is 40k liquid gold" types). recruiting this character i'm likely to only use in like one chapter is important, damn it (read: i'm trying to give myself a sizable disadvantage to compensate for the mkdd advantage + you always gotta recruit everyone you can. you gotta)

biggest thing i'm sitting on rn is who to promote now. i don't want to use either orion's bolts because lol why would i. i'm gonna use a hero crest on bartre (he is unironically a good unit for me at this point + karla isn't gonna recruit herself), a knight crest on kent, and. . . probably a guiding ring on serra? and that might be it. i'm very iffy on that last one but serra's close to 20 and staff experience really is a lifesaver. her promotion gains aren't even that stellar, nor am i even thinking of using light magic (those tomes are expensive), i just really want to stop her healing from being wasted experience, ykwim? but yeah, after that unless i'm really hurting on experience (which i shouldn't be), i doubt i'll be promoting anyone else. only other unit i'd even really want to promote right now is maybe fiora. guy unfortunately was a wrecking ball in early game but now will enjoy the warmth of camp away from all the fighting and danger because he's just not that necessary anymore. i'm also obviously not promoting either lyn or eliwood, but, lol, who does in ranked runs? it's still a shame that their promotion items are a huge funds loss, because it feels weird not using either of them, but oh well.

i might bust out unfulfilled heart today just because it's an easy chapter and there's no tactics constraint to worry about meeting. i still want to finish this run before the year ends, so i do need to start getting back into the habit of playing this game again.

I don’t know what’s going to happen because neither film has been released yet. But I will say that The Outrun is doing better than I expected and Blitz is doing worse. I have seen people saying it makes sense that it’s premiering at LFF because it’s a movie about London and Steve McQueen had Small Axe premiere there a couple of years ago. But it’s clear that they expected the movie to go to a bigger festival? It’s not like they said no to Cannes so they could bring the movie to London? They just didn’t get to take it there for whatever reason. The Outrun is actually a great comparison here because they wanted it to premiere at EIFF because it’s a very Scottish movie but that didn’t stop them from going to Sundance and Berlinale. Blitz is going to London and New York because they either didn’t have the movie ready before that or those are the only ones that wanted it. The fact that the movie is premiering in like a month and a half and there’s nothing more than a couple pictures of it and they’re releasing it on Apple TV shortly after doesn’t bode well. If critics and audiences absolutely adore this movie and it gets outstanding reviews from every single person, they might really push for it at the Oscars. But right now, it doesn’t look like Apple cares? Apple is very weird about promoting their stuff (maybe they’re out of practice because their other products don’t need promotion) but even this feels like they don’t want anything to do with this movie. For all I know, Saoirse’s performance in The Outrun gets completely ignored and Blitz is the next best picture winner, but right now, it looks like people are stuck on the idea of what Blitz and The Outrun should be and not paying attention to what’s actually been going on? Which isn’t to say The Outrun is going anywhere but it doesn’t look like Blitz is either? Hopefully I’m wrong though because I was excited about Blitz when it was announced and I love a WWII movie
