The more you think about it, the most pressing question about Fenoglio's Inkheart isn't "who in the hell was the protagonist of it?" (it's either Cosimo, the Prince, or, y'know, the guy the literal title refers to - or all three of them), but rather "what in the raging hell was the Shadow's deal?" considering he was immortal, implied to be invincible, could only be destroyed by being rewritten, and as much of an asshole as his boss to the point where you wonder how this guy was dealt with in-story unless the ending saw Capricorn not just get away with everything but also win
#inkheart#tintenherz#i KNOW the answer is that miss cornelia didn't intend to write another book and said 'it is simply not important haha <3'#but like? in-universe? the shadow is OP as FUCK. again he needs to be given a conscience and feel guilt to be beaten#and there's the implication that he DIDN'T die in the book bc otherwise Fenoglio wouldve told Meggie to read the bit where the shadow croak#so you have a guy like capricorn with the magical equivalent of a nuclear reusable warhead running around that he had already unleashed#and dont expect me to think that the shadow wouldve just idk eaten the adderhead once his master grew tired of serving him#... unless Fenoglio wrote the Shadow as an allegory for the nuclear bomb. which wouldn't even be that much of a mental jump tbh

I never look up scenes so I didn’t know his full reaction to Arabella dying, nearly choked hearing this come out of his mouth, my gods
Playing my asshole sun elf and he ignored the grove nearly entirely - only went in to interrogate Zorru for Lae’zel for his cure (who is now dead from Shadowheart), but wiped out the goblin camp for fun on the way and found Halsin who is now his best lead to a cure

#slay the princess#stp#pristine cut spoilers#<- for anyone who wants to go in COMPLETELY blind#art#im of the opinion she's prison3r bc of all the chains + face in shadows#(prison3r seems to come from post head-abandonment so it would make sense if she's got some head weirdness going on)#i unfortunately don't really see the argument for sp3ctre#however I do agree with some of the reasoning i saw#i saw someone point out that since there are already assets in-game for a sp3ctre ending where you stab yourself while possessed#it doesn't really make sense for it to get replaced by something new#and i kind of agree tbh. like im prepared to eat my words but i think the possession-stab gambit is going to remain the same#what if we're both wrong and this is somehow dams3l tho. what then#anyway i feel a bit bittersweet about pris cut coming out#ive had so much fun in this community & knowing there's no new content after this (aside from some merch)#is a lil sad#like im sure i'll be revisiting the game plenty & probably continue creating fanart#but i am going to miss there being such active ongoing discussion around it#but I will be picking up scarlet hollow sometime and YOU SHOULD TOO!!!
