its the way his hair was mussed up like before and nandor is over 700 years old but its still guillermo. his face is older and he is stronger but the way he holds himself this shy of being nervous, nandor remembers that exact sweater 15 years ago and how it doesnt fit the same anymore. and hes standing there and asking for the job again. and hes a van helsing and he was the best man at his wedding and he became a vampire and turned back into a human. and he is shyly talking about how hard it was to grow up and the cape he wanted his mother to buy. guillermo could stay like this forever, eager to please and as doting as ever. if nandor just compelled him to stay, all he wanted was for him to stay, this could be their life again. they could go back to before the cameras and before he got soft and before he changed. nandor could have his familiar back.

but hes right there and he is smiling at his fangs and he doesnt know how hard it was to kill someone. he doesnt know how to throw a spear like a natural or his birthright as a slayer, he doesnt remember flying over new york, he doesnt remember how nandor does his hair for special occasions. he doesnt remember how hard nandor tried to protect him. he doesnt remember nandor at all. because all he knows is how hard it was to grow up and how he thinks vampirism will save him. it wouldnt, it didnt.

no, nandor couldnt let guillermo stay. he leads him to the bed under the stairs that he thinks he will occupy forever and guillermo will be angry in the morning to be in the house. but his breaths tonight will be loud and they will be human. and they will be his.

guillermo will always be guillermo, no new or old versions to be spoken of. one guillermo is all guillermos.
