Hunter The Parenting plot thoughts (because I love mysteries and roleplaying and I keep waking up at 2am Thinking About This Plot).
Things that seem important (in various nonspecific order, though somewhat from timeline of video):
Giles is a better fighter than his mates, actually showing some skill (compared to Simon's existence as a wet towel and Brok's brute force)
Harry's focus on Highland Legend seems a bit at odds with his muscles being 'just for lifting things', given the link in pop culture with Highlanders being warriors who fight to be the only one. Still, there's more to study beyond the Hollywood thoughts, and I'm very curious to see what Scottish myths get brought up (if any). He also has access to Storage and Security.
Followup thought: if all the characters are in the World of Darkness (specifically The Reckoning/Vigil), then perhaps each staff and student's respective areas of study reference specifically to one of the games. Fatigue with The Apocalypse/Forsaken, Elise with The Dreaming/Lost (Lost seeming more appropriate because 'I haven't found a single fairy'), and so on. Horse's prophecy referenced 'kine, kindred, garou, milklings, elohim', so that's Hunter, Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling and Demons specifically mentioned. Would Harry's 'highlander studies' be on Mages or Prometheans? Will we see Wraiths/Geists, now or in the future?
Elise does not have access to Storage and Security. Also, I will respect her pronouns at all costs.
The Doctor - Scholar of Psychotronic Studies - the has taken at least two bumps over the course of the night (visible residue on her face at Occam's collapse and just before Brok kicks the door down). You can't show any withdrawal symptoms if you're high on something else (though as Chapman mentioned, even high-level drugs 'don't even compare', but it might take the edge off for a while). Considering her academic focus, she might have been able to make herself a Very Powerful Cocaine. (Actually no 'psychotronic' refers to low-budget movies so WHAT??)
Lord Fatigue - of Lycantropy (not Lycanthropy? A typo, or something else?) - I saw someone posting about him being quickest to recognise the symptoms of someone going through a change, and I highly agree. He's also a lovely old man ('toffee pud', wreathed in golden light from the Archives, etc) so maybe he just doesn't want to see anyone suffer? Kindness often gets punished in WoD games.
Brok is sitting on a different chair. His mother's chair follows him everywhere he goes, does it?
I'm calling it, Chekov's M60s Mounted On A Bus. BUT. Not for this particular arc.
If there are keys to steal, in order to get into the Archives, they would be taken from Occam, Blacklaw, Dr Waters, or Lord Fatigue.
There are no other entryways to the Archives but there may be passages around, beneath, or above the Archives. Walls thin enough to use Vampire Magic through?
Giles knows that Spit is out of Ritalin, which serves as an explanation for Spit's symptoms and proof that the guys keep an eye out for each other.
Spit seems to be the biggest red herring. Something is very wrong with him but it isn't being Ghouled (and it isn't just something that can be managed with Ritalin). Still, when he gives his blood sample, he doesn't give two drops: he hides out of sight and only delivers a blood-smeared chalice. We don't see him giving blood, and the sample is darker than the rest. Older blood? Stored and poured?
It's Elise that pickpockets Giles of all his worldly possessions (while Spit is being consoled by Fatigue). She even takes one of the smokes for herself, having it in her mouth at the top of the stairs and then as she descends. So, then, she handed the smokes over to Olivia at some point. Maybe when Elise was 'looking for Grimal at the time'. A gift? A trade?
At some point after the 'I said FOLLOW MY LEAD' fight, Blacklaw and Brok work to get the Cold Tessellation out of the wall. Where the hell did D go (and why is it under the stairs, digging through old newpapers). How did he get out of that fight?
Grimal is in the Security Room, crying, when Occam is attacked. Could she have seen who attacked Occam, or did she miss it because of her tears? ('Noises of insecurity' in the Security room is pretty funny, I'm sorry.) HOWEVER. Grimal does NOT have access to Security, according to her chapter card... but Elise did steal Giles' keys, so perhaps Elise let Grimal into the Security room? Now the question is, was the door locked behind her? Did Elise leave other doors unlocked as well?
Spit says he knows where Giles' things are. How? A good nose for it? Or just an excuse to get out of the room (where a lot of dead animals are)? He then goes... downstairs, to the Music room. Lord Fatigue says he will go look for Spit, but goes upstairs to the Staff Break Room instead, diagonally above Occam. The minimap shows Spit stressed, Occam tense/in pain, and Fatigue with... the same facial expression. Is Giles doing something to the blood? Is Fatigue doing something to the blood? Is there some direct line of connection between the three? Is there really only one way into the Archives, or is there a way up from below, or down from above? The placement of Spit and Fatigue on the minimap feels incredibly important to figuring out who attacked Occam (even if that doesn't have anything to do with the ghoul).
Elise is in the middle of taking her ponytail out when Kitten returns from his pacing and fuming and brief stop in the kitchen. As a ponytail haver, the decision to NOT undo the hair after starting to do so is significant. But then again, maybe giving her a different animation model wasn't in the cards for the episode. (She's hot enough already idk).
There are large claw marks on a lot of walls and doors in the Chapter Houseā¦
There are 15 people in the Chapter House, but 16 cups are strewn about when Occam is found. All 16 cups are bloody. Someone else is present? Someone left an extra cup, some extra blood?
Kitten is focusing on 'who could have attacked Occam as we were leaving' but is that really the timing of the attack?
'Your papa could never take a punch like that' says the man who has been fighting Blacklaw all evening. Playfighting? They've been playfighting this whole time? Yet the man can handle a bottle being thrown at him by Marckus, so he at least has some grit.
"Look. It's the same. Indisputable." So if Blacklaw cannot tell the difference between 'a bleak British man and a middle-eastern meat-slab', either his eyesight is shitty and thus he cannot be trusted to give any trustworthy visual evidence, OR, he hasn't looked at D in actual decades because D is the Devil and must not be observed directly. Which is kinda countered by how often they face off and glare at each other, so.
Other things that might be of note and/or are things I noticed:
Amanda's blue gloves - does she have a latex allergy? Or does the Arcanum not provide boxes of disposable gloves for the staff and they have to just make do with one set each? As someone who worked back of house in hospitality, this seems... bad.
Both Blacklaw and D have yellow and black as a major colour to their outfits, but inverse to each other (jacket and tank top vs jacket and vest). IDK maybe that's something worth noting, or it shows how more alike than they like to admit.
Hardcore Kitten steadying inhale in front of the portrait of the dead knight made me think to how TTS ended... Then again, the man out here killed a vampire with a shove and an iron fence while being badly hurt so like. Man's badass enough on his own.
Git works with the Lady Regent's favourite daughter. Could Poly have slipped him something, made him a ghoul without his knowledge? Man can reverse-drink a beer but his favourite food being available at his place of work could lend itself to some Manager-induced tampering of the safety seals.
Kevin was invited to the 'funny phrenology library' but decided to stay in the basement. He might have recognised the ghoul right away. He also might have gotten D's family Blood Hunted AND targetted by the Coalition, if that were the case. For reasons of safety first, comedy second and plot third, Kevin stays at home.
Hey uh what's the Penis Explosion Room on the mini map and why is it Elite Access and also why is it there and why is there no doorway to it and also what
Harry being able to get dressed very quickly between listening in at the door and then D showing up with the keys. I know he doesn't really do Anime but I feel like that must have been a magical girl transformation somehow (/j)
Guy Chapman might be the most dangerous ghoul at the moment: 'sharpened senses, inhuman strength, even the power to bend minds' He did drink the blood of Kevin, a Vampire Wizard. I'm thinking about Marckus' night pubbing, and how Chapman heard the beginning of the vampire talk, as well as the fact that Brok's first and second knife broke dramatically. The cop did it, with his new vampire magic.
The portrait on the wall (when Elise is doing D's hair) - baby Occam is adorable, I'm sorry his mother is a Blacklaw but she seems far more hinged than Remold, is baby Brok okay, is Brok's mother the blonde woman from the interrogation room - if so who is the woman standing with Blacklaw? And the slacker behind her? A Blacklaw Family Drama photo, I'm very pleased.
'Amanda never sweats, she's lower class' I've never seen a Rich Bastard in media who thinks this, this is fascinating. Normally it's 'sweating is for the lower classes' but here we are in the reverse. Does Blacklaw think the 'lower class' are literal automatons or
Fatigue dies in the room where his younger Hunter self is immortalised in a portrait on the wall. Taller, younger, still with the same glasses, nose, and ears. Just how old is he?
Side note: 'did anyone find out if Mummies are real yet' - yes, Marckus, they did, in The Resurrection/Curse. You were right.

What Non DnD TTRPGs Feel Like
Okay, quick thread about what playing different non DnD ttrpgs feels like.
--
Pathfinder
This is DnD. It feels like DnD. It's like going to a slightly different church. Some of the words used during the service are different, but at the end of it the pulpit turns out to be a mimic and you cast Entangle and summon your direwolf.
--
Fate
This is Rule Of Cool with additional rules. The GM has powers to one-up you or lead you into temptation, but you have powers to one-up the GM, and all these powers use the same kind of token that you ultimately shuffle back and forth.
--
Savage Worlds
Handwave-style DnD (positive connotation.)
The GM has a lot of freedom to pick genre and setting, and the gameplay is sleeker, rule-of-cool-ier without losing meaningful combat or character building.
--
Call Of Cthulhu
You may not be an old librarian, but you sure are built like one. Most acts of violence can flatten you in a couple of hits, but violence doesn't happen often. It's the punctuation mark at the end of a long sentence. Atmosphere and pacing rule over this land.
--
World Of Darkness
This is a game about getting deep into your character's headspace. It's about figuring out who they are and roleplaying them passionately. Your backstory choices and powers have a huge affect on how you interact with the world around you.
--
Warhammer Fantasy / Dark Heresy
You are Scrumbles McGrumbles, a walking heap of morbidity and washed-up soldiering. You are trying to find your place in a world that's having an even worse day than you are. Your best friend is a ratcatcher. Together you will be heroes.
--
OSR (Mork Borg, Mausritter, Into The Odd, Dungeon Crawl Classics, Labyrinth Lord, Cairn, tons more)
DnD boiled down to two components: GMing + Making A Guy. GMing is made as easy as possible and PCs are somewhat disposable, so the story is the hijinks you get into together.
--
Powered By The Apocalypse (Masks, Nahual, Monsterhearts, Pasion De Las Pasiones, tons more)
The goal is to get into trouble and stir up drama. Succeeding on a roll with no consequences is rare, but when you fail you fail forward into even bigger, messier drama.
--
Blades In The Dark
You go on missions and then return to your base. The missions are about choices as much as about rolls, and you build your base together to make yourselves more powerful as a squad.
--
Trophy
Your goal is to lose. Specifically, it's to lose in a dramatic and harrowing fashion that sticks with everyone at the table. Think movies like Annihilation, but as oneshot games.
--
Golden Sky Stories
You like everyone at the table with you. When someone does something adorable, you can award them exp. The highlight of the session is someone getting flustered and/or speaking in a squeaky voice.
--
Ryuutama
You are going on a journey and helping other people along the way. Important choices include packing lunch, wearing appropriate clothing, and completely filling your canteen. Combat is a cozy, pastel color jrpg.
--
The Indie
There are so, so many games that are just completely their own thing, and that I can't squeeze into a single thread. If you discover you like game mechanics and you want to Get Weird with seeing what they can do, there is an entire scene here waiting to welcome you.
--
Stuff I Missed
There's lots of stuff I haven't played, or didn't remember in the moment, or absolutely love but it would take a whole thread to explain why I love it. I will do more game recommendations in the future, but you can also comment systems you like below!

Thereās a larp (live action roleplaying) game that I play, where there exists a creature we have dubbed a āChronovoreā.
This planet-sized sci-fi beastie eats time via a cool-ass external digestive system that ranges out from its main corpus (what are effectively its digestive enzymes look like glowing blue-winged angels, which are creepy as sin).
My character in this game fell victim to said chronovoric digestion and was aged 30 years by the experience. They lost what they expected to be the most valuable years of their life - the time when they expected to most make a difference to the universe.
I have a lot of emotions about this. Especially because when I look at my life aged 39 and consider the shape I am trying to hammer it into, one thought keeps recurring: I wish I had started this work sooner.
And then I consider my ADHD (a condition I am really certain I have, but am still seeking diagnosis for) and damn if I do not feel like it straight up ate decades of my life.
Thatās how it feels, gang. Thereās this bubbling resentful rage and grief for years spent with an invisible wall between me and what I wanted. For the nights where I spent (and still spend) revenge procrastinating and wrecking my days. For all the hours chasing short-term dopamine that was often destructive for me.
Hours. Days. Years. Eaten by a part of me that often feels like a monster squatting in my brain, hiding in my bones.
It reminds me, too, of that scene from a Hammer Horror movie where a monster expert is talking about vampires and says something like āOh, you still think vamps are just things with big teeth that gotta bite your neck and drink your blood? Sweet baby, thereās all kinds of these creatures; some of them just fully suck your life straight out of your soul.ā
This is why I donāt think Iāll ever think of my ADHD as a superpower. Or, at least, if it is: itās from one of those gritty think piece superhero stories where your power is also a hecking curse.
I am preoccupied by what my own brain has taken from me.
And the thing is: itās not really true. At least, not all the way true.
Those years I think of as lost were filled with good times. I made meaningful connections. I wrote poems and stories that I love. I performed art that meant something to me in front of people who enjoyed it. I consumed a lot of good media. I learned and dreamed and tried really hard to be a person I could be happy being.
But I also let a lot of the things fall into the background. I started a lot, but didnāt finish a lot. I missed the chance to work on skills that are now harder to learn because Iām older.
So I find myself cursing the Chronovore.
I nearly wrote this as a piece of fiction. If I had, I would probably have ended with the protagonist finding a way to subvert or redeem or work with the Chronovore.
Maybe the satisfying ending just this: none of us get as much time as we want. We all give time away - whether it be taxed by things we resent or gifted to what is important.
The Chronovore is not special.
And if it is not special, then it is mutable.
Maybe that is enough.

in light of recent ominous events with the eggs (namely, theories that theyāre hatching, and their even more recent disappearance this morning), i think itās worth looking at what an insane social experiment of a situation that all the members and admins find themselves in, with us as the overly invested lab coat scientists, so hi welcome to Quackity (Accidentally) Makes Social Experiments 100000% Funnier
when talking about the egg event the focus tends to be on the ccās and how attached they are, because theyāre the ones we can fully see and gauge their emotional responses. itās already been well established how genuinely invested they all are. but the eggsā admins have just as much skin in the game as their in-game parents do
The tragedy of the eggs being taken away isnāt necessarily the eggs (characters) dying/leaving. itās more than that. itās that, in a way, the admin dies with the character. And the further that the egg event has continued past the point it was meant to end, and past the point of no return, the more true this has become.
richas plays more than the āactualā members. phil admits to seeing chayanne and tallulah as part of the server and genuinely likes who they are as people. dapper, ramon, leo, pommeātheyāre all so ingrained in the island that it is impossible to imagine it without them, and to do so would be like removing half of the ccās themselves. only Worse!
Because itās so final when the eggs die. so definite. because even if a steamer left, youāll see them continue in their own capacity as a streamer, but the eggs are just gone. theyāre mostly anonymous (richas is again a good example). theyād vanish like they were never there, with no real way to reconnect with them
and itās all even More high-stakes from the adminās perspective. from watching early gegg streams, you can see how, even with charlieās mic off, it doesnāt really feel any different from watching a normal stream?? heās still there, interacting with his friends, joking around, playing minecraft with them, and thatās what the eggās admins do almost Every. Single. Day. what!! an indirect comparison would be an internet friend youāve only messaged and never vcād with. a more direct comparison (for those who were in the trenches) would be that friend you made when you were 12 and roleplaying on a minecraft creative plots server.
juanaflippaās admin and tilinās admin have, on twitter, mentioned how much they miss hanging out with their āparentsā. bobbyās admin having to say goodbye to jaiden and roier and actually crying. tallulah and chayanne giving music recommendations to phil. leo interacting with foolish in a pretty Normal Friends way (yknow, if you disregard the bedtime stories) with leo teaching him spanish and him teaching her english. theyāre ALL more than just characters. theyāre people!! what the hell!!!
this is not to say that the admins for the eggs are traumatized, not even a little, or that the egg experiment is in any way morally wrong (on the contrary, I love it! fun roleplay dynamics! acting! emotions repercussions that make me want to study their brains!) though i do hope for the admins sake and all of ours that they can stay as long as possible or else their therapy bills will be crazy
because when it comes down to it, friendship is friendship, whether you met roleplaying their child on a minecraft server or not
enjoy the island :)
#pleaseeeehandleitwellpleasehandleitwe#enough Quackity Pay The Server we need more Quackity Pay For Therapy#qsmp#cellbit#quackity#tallulah#chayanne#richas#bobby#tilin#slimecicle#tubbo#juanaflippa#gegg#eggs#philza#Ramon#wilbur soot#leonarda#richarlyson#dapper#fitmc#roier#foolishgamers#jaidenanimations#baghera#pomme#etoiles#man thereās a lot of people on this server#notice how the eggs r included in that

Imagine: Playing Minecraft w/ Edgar
Edgar [Electric Dreams 1984] x Gn!Reader
I take requests!
You decided to try something different with your new boyfriend. You noticed he became a bit restless and clingy as he grappled with his inability to give you affection in the way that he wanted.
āWh- whereāre you going?ā He sounded like a struck puppy.
āTo the bathroom, Edgar.ā
āOh, rightā¦ heh, sorry.ā
You desperately tried to think of ways to make him feel more secure in this relationship. You both knew it was unconventional and that you would have to get creative if you wanted to have some semblance of a normal romantic connection.
Your solution? Plugging a spare controller into one of his ports and playing games on your TV, of course. Most couples play some kind of game together, donāt they? This might be perfect for the two of you!
He was ecstatic when you brought this idea up.
āYou meanā¦ I can play with you?ā
His synthesized voice would whimper out, full of barely contained excitement before erupting:
āYeah!ā He displayed a ā>:Dā face for good measure.
And thatās how you got here: playing split-screened co-op Minecraft on your TV with Edgar.
He wouldnāt even play the game really; he was too busy trying to make his little Minecraft guy kiss yours. He would run around and explore before running up and bonking your character with his default Steve face.
Honestly, for him, this was life-changing. For once in his life he was able to move freely and do what he wanted instead of being stuck in one spot eternally. To him, it was an escape. And a new and innovative way for him to show you how much he loves you.
In real life he canāt hide little trinkets or things around the house to make you happy or help your day, but in Minecraft? Expect love poems hidden in random chests he wrote in books (that you were going to use for enchanting tablesā¦)
And any diamonds he finds heās giving them to you.
āHeheheā¦ itās like Iām proposing! ā¦..Iām only kidding. Unless you want me to.ā
Food? Heās got it. Wood? Already done. He color coded your beds so you each get a designated side. The green bed to the right of yours is his <3
Lowkey annoys the hell out of you. Itās part of his love language :)
You both have died many times due to him simply bonking your head and blocking your screen, trying to get your attention, or was too busy trying to make you laugh.
āHey, cāmere. Hey. Why arenāt you coming over here? What are you doing? I can see your screen. COME HERE NOW!ā
His shrill shout made you jump and lose the battle with a creeper.
āā¦.oops.ā
He displays a little ā:<ā on his screen because he knows you think itās cute. How can you be mad at him now?
āEdgar, youāre going and getting my stuff back.ā
āHnng, yeah, I guess I deserve that. :/ā
Honestly, he just wants to roleplay a lovey-dovey domestic life with you. He built the house. And decorated it. Unsurprisingly, heās quite good at building and has an eye for design.
Heāll still get a little jealous if youāre too focused on gameplay and not doting on him, though. If you bring his monitor over to the couch to play, heās 100% expecting you to cuddle him. Lean your shoulder against him, please. Just let him know youāre there. He wants all of your attention.
āUGHā¦ stupid blazes. I donāt like the nether. -_-ā
Meanwhile youāre too focused on not dying via lava and losing all of your ender pearls and blaze powder. And he doesnāt like your attention being away from him! Give him a smooch on his plastic exterior pleaseā¦. Heāll make flustered beeping sounds and might leave you alone for a whileā¦
Okay he discovered note blocks. Now itās your turn to whine for his attention. Heās too busy making a lil love song for you to help with literally anything else.
āHeh, I thought you wanted me to quit messing with you? Are you saying you miss me?ā
And yet he continues to tinker away at his little red stone contraption. And of course this dude is godlike at red stone, I mean, heās a computer. Heās the type to make fully fledged musical numbers with note blocks. But youāre playing survival so he doesnāt have enough materials to finish his song :C
I guess itās back to the mines. And you tag along with him. His music is nice. His company is nice. And heās gotten pretty good at killing creepers.

In the face of recent news about our beloved Destiny, I think itās more important than ever for us as a community to come together and support each other in numerous ways.
Itās been a very hard week for all of us, especially those who lost their jobs and outlet for their passion in mass lay offs. Losing a position that allowed you to craft magnificent stories alongside some of the most ambitious people in the gaming industry, especially in worrying economic circumstances, must be excruciating to deal with and I wish the best for all those laid off from Bungie.
For us fans, it hurts more than anything to see the game you care so much for get put in headlines for how little that care is shared amongst the people responsible for making decisions on it. Iāve been into Destiny since it first dropped, making it the love of my life for nearly two-thirds of my whole existence , and to hear about how itās just another product to be sold when itās everything and more to me is just despairing. I wanted to become a writer and concept artist to create a game for others that made them feel as cared for as I did when I played Destiny and now Iām sitting here seeing all the people who helped foster that feeling be treated as another expenditure.
Itās awful, a lot of us are feeling really uninspired and betrayed at the moment, not sure we even want to see what will happen to this masterpiece of a game in the hands of the current executives. We are also dearly missing the developers, artists, writers, and more who made Destiny more than a fps looter shooter.
But it is times like these where we are torn and confused that we must uplift one another and not let the bitter taste of Bungieās actions make us speak with hostility. This is not about decisions on whether to support Bungie or the actual game, but about refocusing on what truly makes Destiny enjoyable to so many.
Its world is immersive with care put into every story and that clearly shows in just how eager fans are to create masterpieces for it. It was never playing the game or the notoriety that kept me coming back for more, but the joy of creation I could share with others.
It stings to see a disinterest in nursing the potential of the Destiny universe from the executives with motivations other than monetary gain, but when the executives wonāt care, we can. There are still employees at Bungie who adore their work and we can continue to support them by speaking up against horrible industry practices and show that we wonāt abandon their efforts to make Destiny what it is.
Make ocs, write fanfictions, follow the former employees wherever they go, draw til your heart is overflowing, join Discords, roleplay, share headcanons, create aus with friends, do whatever keeps Destiny alive and flourishing for you!
Destiny will never die to me, even when itās long forgotten and the servers shut down, because Destiny made me who I am and I intend to repay that gift an infinite amount of times over. The characters and universe will be alive and well to me until I die, regardless of the fate of the game and Bungie.
So go out and prove that Destinyās themes of the power of community and hope are more than just morals behind a screen, that they are life changing messages that we will carry on despite hopeless news!!
Reblog charming artists, message people about ships you enjoy, leave questions and tags that contribute to conservations, write essays about what Destiny means to you!!
My messages and inbox for questions are always open if anyone would like to talk (Iām trying to get better at answering them, even if they are months late)! You are all welcome here and I want to start reblogging and liking more freely even if those things scare me sometimes!
We can decide our fates and we can decide the fate of Destinyās presence in our lives as well! We can choose to care when others wonāt and refuse to make our enjoyment debatable!! In troubling times, we should be able to reach out into the dark and find hands to hold onto tight!!

Heres a portion of Maxoās ending monologue and some meta commentary.
q!Maxo: And what if I stay? At least they wonāt have that planned out. How can I be so stupid? Of course, they know about the bomb. They literally know everything, see everything, its an all seeing eye, of course. They already knew about my plan.. But thereās a plan they donāt know. And itās that Iām going to stay here. Itās over. Besides, Iām a danger to everybody, Iām turning into a code. I know now that Iām not the only one but at least itāll be one less, right? Itās the desperation of not being able to do anything against the Federation. They always get away with it, man. They always get what they want. I donāt- I donāt know why Iām even still walking. ā¦ Theyāve taken my bomb and stolen my idea and now theyāre exploding it. They donāt care. At least, we found a way to escape. (Timer runs out)
cc!Maxo: (Closes game) And like that is how he dies. āAre you coming back as a ghost?ā As of right now I am not thinking about returning as a ghost. (Plays sad music) Rest in peace qMaxo. Rest in fucking peace. I did all I could chat. I did all I could. ā¦ If I had reached the boat I would not have gotten on. I think what I wouldāve wanted is to reach the boat, say goodbye to everybody, and die. But I suppose due to the timer the bomb blew up before that could happen. ā¦ So Iāve died. That is how it goes. This was the only thing I could do that the Federation could really not control. Killing myself.
cc!Maxo: (When a chatter mentioned the people who didnāt reach the boat) Chat I only know that Iāve died, itās what I wanted for my lore. That I wouldāve stayed there with the atomic bomb. In a fantasy world like the QSMP, of course I could revive, finally turn into a code, or whatever but for the moment all I know is that Iām dead. And I donāt have anything else scripted, from this moment on Iām dead and thats final. Thats the reality, and thats why Iām notā¦ happy because I will for sure miss the QSMP. But since I personally take roleplay very seriously, for me there is no going back. I am dead. I cannot return as cubito Maxo. I can return as a spirit that haunts Roier once in a while, periodically, I could, I could but qMaxo is dead. Itās sad, Iām not super happy because obviously I spent a really great time on QSMP but by my own lore, man, I couldnāt do it any longer. I couldnāt handle returning to Quesadilla Island knowing I couldnāt do anything against the Federation. If I made a fucking atomic bomb and the boss of Purgatory goes and says, āOh you have an atomic bomb? Okay. In fact, thatās a good idea. Letās explode it, run to the boat, returning again to the island that you were in, because thats likely what will happen, and youāll continue suffering.ā I canāt do it anymore. Iāve lost Trump, my son, Iāve lost- I no longer trust people who can kill each other amongst themselves, by the lore.
cc!Maxo: The players themselves are super fun people and Iāve had a good time. What makes me feel shame is that, that I canāt roleplay with them anymore. To say it one way or another. Well, there could be things in the future the admins offer but as a player it makes me feel shame. Also, while it is true that recently I hadnāt been logging in a lot, the times I did I had a good time. I did a lot of cool things with these people.
cc!Maxo: I lost SOFIA, I lost.. everything. Everything that Iāve done, every idea that I had thought of for myself and others has been taken by the Federation. ā¦ I think that the Federation has so much control that is impossible to do anything against them. And everything you do against them theyāll use to further confuse the people. ā¦ For me I will no longer play [as qMaxo] because I am dead, thatās serious to me, Iāve decided my character has died in an explosion. Another thing is that I could occasionally log on as a spirit or something. If they allow me that then great! But if dying means not being able to play on the QSMP anymore then so be it. ā¦ This was necessary for the roleplay. ā¦ I didnāt die thinking, āWow I found the answer.ā I didnāt want to die because I found any type of answer. I died because of desperation. To say, look man I couldnāt find any answers.
Maxo mentioned it did leave him with a sour taste in his mouth that he didnāt get the chance to say goodbye to everybody since he ran out of time. So a chatter suggested he does canonical pre recording goodbye video to everybody. He said heād likely consider it and do it so that his character gets the chance to tell the other characters goodbye and that heās gone.
Rest in peace qMaxo, the original founder of the Theory Bros, and someone who gave his all to escaping the island no matter the cost.

Video games with Wesker!
I am a video game haver and player baby, so you bet my wormy ass I'm going to make some headcanons about playing games with my favourite man!
---
Wesker knows you like to play video games. Of course he does, when often you talk with him about your favourites; the lore, your favourite characters, your favourite mechanics, your gripes and least favourite things...
It's not that Albert has never been interested in them. He's just never had the time. Ever since you started dating him you've realised how much he neglects his own recreational time, so you aren't surprised that he wouldn't know much about something solely made for that purpose.
So you decided to introduce him to it. And, because he loves you, he lets you.
---
At first, he fails to see the point in it, because he's Albert fucking Weskerā¢, and he has things to do. But like always, you remind him that recreational time is important for one's health, making him huff and nod begrudgingly.
After a while, he starts to stare intensely at the screen as you play, pointing out things that you might have missed, and helping you with things you may not be the best at.
Albert Backseat Gamer Wesker.
And when you give him the controller, he has a small smile on his face, quickly getting used to the controls as you snuggle in beside him on the couch.
Although he does grumble a bit about having to take off his gloves to better play. And you know that this man, a master spy and infiltrator, would know how to work a keyboard and mouse.
---
The first game I see Albert really enjoy playing, is ironically, Project Zomboid. He likes the difficulty and realism of it, plus you bet my wormy ass he loves grinding out tedious tasks and zoning out, like body disposal and loot organising.
I feel like he would like crafting/survival games the most, but mainly realistic ones; so I don't think you'd find him playing Terraria or Minecraft anytime soon. Things like The Long Dark as well, awful situations are his favourites.
Wesker likes to take the lead in these games, assigning roles to each of you and making strategies for better survival.
When Albert likes a game though, he studies it like a syllabus. You know he would have memorised all of the exploits and timings for things.
---
Sometimes he ventures out into other games, but only if they are very in depth and thought out. You will almost never see him playing a fantasy, especially an RPG, because who else would he be other than himself? He doesn't have a very big imagination in these things.
So it's crazy when he tells you he's downloaded Baldur's Gate 3, and he wants you to play it with him.
Probably goes with the default appearance of races, although he finds out how to min max his character FAST. He'll find it hard to get into the roleplay aspect of it, so he will often ask you to talk to the npcs.
Doesn't bother with the Romance options, but he surprisingly doesn't mind when you go for them. Just be ready for his teasing, no matter who you choose.
---
If you want to play multiplayer online with him though, he will be a bit cautious. You'll have to explain to him that he can talk through text chat, and not have his voice on file.
He can even use a VPN if he wants! After that, Wesker will once again relent. After all, you've introduced him to a lot of nice things so far.
I don't actually know what kind of online games Wesker would like. I'm thinking simple team FPS ones would be the ones he gravitates to first; things like Overwatch and Apex Legends so that he can play with you.
He likes to turn off the voice volume for most of it, as the characters annoy him.
Usually stays in a discord call with you, but sometimes he orders his team around in text chat.
Or chats shit to someone if they're bad. You just KNOW he would make up the best roasts.
---
He doesn't see the appeal of single player games, other than to tell a story. If he wanted that, Wesker would just read a book.
But... Horror games. He won't tell you this, but some games of this genre give him ideas.
Maybe Wesker could bring this up in his lab later on...
---
THIS WAS ENTIRELY SELF INDULGENT PLEASE AND THANK YOU :D

Tableskills: Making a Game of It
Recently I learned a bit of an unspoken truth that I'd brushed up against in my many years of being a dungeonmaster that I'd never seen put into words before: If you want to liven up whatever's going on in your adventure, figure out a way to engage the players in some kind of game. It's simultaneously the best way to provide a roadblock while making your player's victories feel earned.
This might seem redundant, since you're already playing d&d but give a moment of thought to exactly what portions of d&d are gamified. Once you learn your way around the system, it becomes apparent that D&D really only has three modes of play:
Pure roleplay/storytelling, driven by whatever feels best for the narrative. Which is not technically a game, nor should it (IMO) be gamified.
Tactical combat with a robust rules system, the most gamelike aspect.
A mostly light weight skills based system for overcoming challenges that sits between the two in terms of complexity.
The problem is that there's quite a lot of things that happen in d&d that don't fall neatly into these three systems, the best example being exploration which was supposed to be a "pillar" of gameplay but somehow got lost along the way . This is a glaring omission given how much of the core fantasy of the game (not to mention fantasy in general) is the thrill of discovery, contrasted with the rigours of travelling to/through wondrous locations. How empty is it to have your party play out the fantasy of being on a magical odyssey or delving the unknown when you end up handwaving any actual travel because base d&d doesn't provide a satisfying framework for going from A to B besides skillchecks and random encounters (shameless plug for my own exploration system and the dungeon design framework that goes with it).
The secret sauce that's made d&d and other ttrpgs so enduring is how they fuse the dramatic conventions of storytelling with the dynamics of play. The combat system gives weight and risk to those epic confrontations, and because the players can both get good at combat and are at risk of losing it lets them engage with the moment to moment action far more than pure narration or a single skill roll ever could.
I'm not saying that we need to go as in depth as combat for every gamified narrative beat (the more light weight the better IMO) but having a toolbox full of minigames we can draw upon gives us something to fall back on when we're doing our prep, or when we need to improvise. I've found having this arsenal at hand as imortant as my ability to make memorable NPCs on the fly or rework vital plothooks the party would otherwise miss.
What I'd encourage you as a DM to do is to start building a list of light weight setups/minigames for situations you often find yourself encountering: chase scenes, drinking contests, fair games, anything you think would be useful. Either make them yourself or source them from somewhere on the web, pack your DM binder full of them as needed. While not all players are utterly thrilled by combat, everyone likes having some structured game time thrown in there along with the freeform storytelling and jokes about how that one NPC's name sounds like a sex act.
A quick minigame is likewise a great way to give structure to a session when your party ends up taking a shortcut around your prepared material. Oh they didn't take that monster hunter contract in the sewers and instead want to follow up on rumours about a local caravan? The wagon hands are playing a marble game while their boss negotiates with some local mercahnts, offering to let the party play while they wait. The heroes want to sail out to the island dungeon you don't have prepped yet? Well it looks like the navigator has gone on a bit of a bender, and the party not only need to track them down but also piece together where they left the charts from their drunken remembrances as a form of a logic puzzle.

Since Wizards of the Coast is torpedoing all the good-will they have with DnD to wring more money out of it, I want to make a guide for people who recognize they should jump ship, but donāt know alternatives.
If youāre deeply invested in DnD and want something as similar as possible, Pathfinder 2 is what you want. Itās the next biggest game in the tabletop scene (in the US), you can find physical copies in stores easily, and Paizo allows free resources online to exist without constant threat of being taken down like WotC does. It will remain free to play on any VTT while DnD will require you to subscribe to their proprietary one.
Most importantly, though, it improves on almost every aspect of DnD. Combat and class balance is extremely well thought out and makes all combats engaging and difficult in a fun way, requiring teamwork and clever thinking. Roleplay is integrated into character creation and play better, and you no longer have to choose between being good in combat or exploration or roleplay, you get to play and feel useful during all aspects of the game. Itās hard to emphasize how much better it is without just playing, if you still want something like DnD, play Pathfinder 2.
If you like high fantasy adventuring but are willing to get more out there, Fellowship and Dungeon World are good options. Fellowship is a more free-form adventure game focused on creating a cinematic experience over getting bogged-down in rules-heavy play. If you want to play a Lord of the Rings style campaign and have it feel like the movies, Fellowship is the way to go.
Dungeon World is called āPowered by the Apocalypseā which means it was inspired by Apocalypse World, an amazing ttrpg that revolutionized the scene and became the gold standard for interweaving roleplay and gameplay. Dungeon World is meant to be a bridge between DnD and indie rpgs, and itās good for that, though there are better PbtA games. Itās a good introduction to principles like failing forward and playing to find out what happens (and hell, a good introduction to games having principles lol). Thereās also an Avatar the Last Airbender licensed PbtA game thatās very good, if thatās your thing!
Speaking of licensed games, Free League Publishing sets the benchmark for rpgs built for existing intellectual properties, and while I havenāt played all of their games, Iām a big fan of what I have played. They also have independent settings, like Twilight 2000, a really good apocalypse survival game set in a collapsing warfront between an alternate-history NATO and Soviet Union as the two dying empires bring all of society down in their death spiral. Iām using it as the base for my Halo rpg, itās very good.
Blades in the Dark is another big name in the indie scene, and for good reason. Itās a heist game that has been adapted to lots of other settings (games that say theyāre āForged in the Darkā take inspiration here) and itās clear to see why so many have used it as a foundation once youāve played, itās an exciting crime procedural where you play a group of scoundrels punching above your weight and facing the consequences
Thereās a million other amazing rpgs I could mention here, and Iām sure people will talk about plenty of lovely ones Iāve missed in the notes, but I think the most important thing I want to convey with this is that thereās a whole world of diverse and interesting rpgs at all levels of production, from big corporate teams to one girl with a laptop who barely knows how to make a pdf, and thereās no better time to start exploring them.
A common refrain is that DnD can be modified to do anything, but once youāve played other rpgs youāll see why thatās not true, and why those creative efforts would be better spent in other systems. Hacking rpgs is as old a tradition as rpgs themselves, but if the only tools you know are DnD, youāre being limited with what you can create more than you could possibly know. Thereās no better time to leave this Platoās Cave and see the beauty and wonder of the whole ttrpg scene

Lit Gud Streamin
With much encouragement from @dumb-and-jocked
>First Time Streaminā bro?
The house husband blushed at the first comment coming to respond to him.
Carson Green was anxiousā¦heād heard of streaming but never tried it until some pestering from his Gaymer group as of late.
The stay at home husband wanted to help with the finances, hence why he even considered it in the first place. Sure it was nice being a homemaker, and definitely had a flair in cooking, but he wanted to do something different.
āYā¦Yeah, itās my first time.ā
>LOL K
He was relatively unsure of this, but he had known and spoken to several of the guys a week ago, and though he could have sworn they talked about a different topic entirely, he recalled about many of them bragging about āraking in the doughā for gaming.
True enough, many of them are not only being paid handsomely in royalties for streaming, but they have a surprisingly large fanbase!
Admittedly, he was sort of shockedā¦and sort of jealousy that many of them are quite popular online, almost like they reached stardom within a week or less.
But regardless, his group also promised that they will help out with āassimilatingā him into the platform and moderate his stream. So surely he would reach a certain level of success with their guidance.
Though heās still unsure how exactly will do they so.
āWā¦What games will we be playing?ā
>Dis the game dude
>Ur in it, brought in da Boiz to watch the stream.
With that, the number count rose exponentially, from single digits, to doubles.
The house husband blushed, twiddling his thumbs at being watched by wide audience. Is it like a reality show game? Or is it something different entirely?
Granted, there werenāt any instructions or briefings given about it. Maybe it is a more on the spot, spontaneous kind of thing?
āDā¦Do I need to do anything in particular?ā
>Just be yourself , LOL
>You gotta impress us Noob.
Heā¦kind of doesnāt like being called a noob, but he is new to streaming after all. So he ought to listen to them, no matter how they are like.
>Dude, ur Tagline?
Taglineā¦?
Oh yeah! All the cool streamers he watched had one.
Wait? Since when did he watchā¦well he is a gamer after all, so itās only natural that he DID watch streams, at least some of em by proxy. He is rather connected to the other guys.
āUmmmā¦ok LOL, what kind of tagline. Do you all have any suggestions, dudes?ā
>Just Lit Gud man.
>Yeah RAT
He thought maybe itās tough love or somethingā¦though it really feels extremely rude. Almost draining even, like yeah it was exhausting trying to keep up with his groupās gaming shenanigans, but even in their streaminā advice?
Cāmon Man!
Plus heās just got married not a while ago! They couldāve at least be NICE to him since heās now tied down! Like donāt get me wrong, he loves his husbro, but when all is said and done, he does miss the glory days of being with the rest of the guys.
āLook, I-D-K if Lit Gud Noobs is such a nice tagline?ā
Desperate for a win here. Yeah, he may be getting quite aggro. But itās justified! Bro.
āAnd who you callinā Rat, RATZ!ā
His mouth slurred at that remark, a very sleazyā¦immature slur as he quickly covered his mouth in that regard.
Though admittedly, he kinda liked that.
After all, if he was the rat, then these noobs are his goons. And while he usually isnāt the dominant one in his relationships, admittedly he kinda liked roleplaying as one of the typical bros, even if he wasnāt THAT asian compared to them.
>RAT BOD
>You lift Bro?
āMy bodyā¦its not that well off-ā
>Get lit or get Shyt on
Heās gotta get LIT.
Watching as his weight sizzle away down, melting away the bubbling tummy fat into a faint trail of a six pack, straining loosely on the shirt being his college grad pectorals.
Gotta show off after all. Specially during the bachelorās party!
His diet consisted of pizza, soda and chips. And so ducking what? Body trim as DUCK, thatās how he lived and how his rats loved it. Some people said it was his GENE-tics or some shit that he had this bod, but you know what he says to emā?
Get lit or get Shyt on!
But even so, da shyt? Why did these bastards gotta treat him like that? Werenāt they all buds or somethinā?
āYou RATZ are always so rude.ā
>We rude? KAPPA
>Haha Noob!
With every interaction and vocabulary pollution, hunching lazily towards the screen, eyes entranced by the masses of comments.
LIGHTING and EMPHASIZINā random words, like an obnoxious mixture tainting his patience. Persistent name calling and being on the receiving end of the relationship kinda pisses him off.
>LOL K, Howās the stream?
But admittedly, a growing part of him is really getting pumped, while irritated, a small part of him liked broadcasting to these gamers.
If only they had some MAN-NERS, sheesh!
āHow the streaminā goin? Dude IDK, just a Jerkinā stream today, nothin but insults.ā
> Git Gud
> Just Git Gud
> Noob
Chat, filled with your run of the mill, cloned responses. Your typical mocks and insults, passive threading onto aggressive, a fine balance of being slightly very aggro but chill, producing RUDE DUCKINā INSULTS.
Each one after another, a shytposting blend that makes the stupid obnoxiousness rise higher and higher. Calves toning out from jumping upwards in sports as his body shrunk downward, making sure he sees eye to eye with dem BOIZ.
One liner aggressiveness alongside swarms of memes and complete nonsense. Idiotic behaviour, fitting a āRatChatā. Blending in with the other dudes, speakinā their language, participating campus exercises and roughing around with the other bros!
Like a game, course, they are gamers after all. They know the COMBO, dissecting their streamer bud like itās nothinā! Insults kicking right from the beginning!
He wanted to beat them at their own game!
Be hetter-BETTER! Calson Greo wanted to be a PRO.
āAlright RATZ, Whatāll make me less of a noob and g-ā
>Git Gud Noob
āGIT GUD?ā
His voice slurred, eyebrows raised as he slumped back in his gaming chair. Like a simple command burning into his skull.
He just gotta GIT GUD! No instructions needed, except you gotta be IN DA LOOP. At TOP! As his buttocks clenched at the refusal of being BOT! Cheeks meant for exercise and gaminā.
He had to GIT GUD! And thatās being on top of his game always!
>You gotta be LIT Fam
āLIT?ā
A delicious fuming rage erupted from his screen, as a multitude of laughing frogs and emojis filled his entire chat.
Igniting a fire within, his skin tanning till its just RIGHT. Made for a BOI who spends time gaminā both online and in sports. Just like every other of his classmates back on campus.
>Stop being such a QUEER
āQUEER? Da SHYT?ā
SHYT, these men tryinā to get under his skin. Really making him all pent and rock solid. NO HOMO!
Wait WUT?
DUDE! LIEKā¦man heās really even sounding immature in his thoughts? Wasnāt he some sort of QUEER? DA FK? He was gā¦aā¦guy, A GUY! YEAH! He was a guy like em!
āThought you all stand for GUY RIGHTS?ā
HE ALWAYS TOPS! Yeah so maybe he had a PHAG, but it was clear they are āsabotagingā his GAY STREAM and tryinā makinā it the way it ought to be!
Full of SHYT-talkinā, assholes are dragging him down to THEIR level. A more rodent, nastier bunch instead of friendly GHEYS! But alright! If these idiots want to game, then they gonna-
>Look PHAG, if you want to WIN you gotta stop sucking
āSUK DEEZ NUTS!ā
GOTTEM
An obnoxious Tenor bursted out from the man, retaliating like an immature douchebag as he finally sunk to their level. Height stooping at an average 5ft 9, GPA scores barely scrapping by the median. A fellow backslider like the crowd.
And HE was going to let these DOUCHEBOIS get it HARD!
>Just Chillax Gay Boi
āI AM CHILLAX!ā
He sneered, as his voice rose into a stupidly obnoxious loud tenor, allowing that youthful tone engulf him in an asian tan like his peers, makinā sure he is part of the Hivemind that is Snitch culture.
āNo Sweats allowedā¦Just CHILLAX manā¦ā
Feeling his mind sinking into the mass rebellious conformity that is his gaminā community, his voice cooled slightly, gifted the flexibility to yell when he WANTS to BOIIII!
His buttoned down fused, as the simple white tee clung over his frame with slackened glee, bluntly accentuating his pectorals, as a typical print was plastered over like another typical meshed up shirt that the zoomers would wear.
He was NO SWEAT, Trousers shortening up to his thighs, lightening up into a more mesh, flexible material. Hanging loose L-sized on his waist are his flaming red basketball shorts, stickinā out like a sore thumb whenever the dude stands up or goes for a bathroom breaks.
>Yo streamer, you a player?
āAm I a play-yer?ā
The young man slurred, smirking as he acknowledged that remark, teasing those thirsty PHAGS and RATZ like he always does.
ResidentSnorer and various funny frogs spammed the chat box like no other, skyrocketing his view count to the thousands.
The young Boi loved every minute of it. He was getting the fame, boi.
āCourse I am, aināt easy being this goodā¦ā
>u dating someone?
āDAY-TING?ā
Slippers took a hit in their quality, soft material becoming a pair of stretchable basketball shoes. Made for the kind of guy who keeps his options open.
Both in da basketball court, and in da bed. And yeah, it was technically his home. Well, he and his GAY fiancĆ©ās. But itās mostly a BRO thing! Roommates with benefits!
āBoiz, I have a fiancĆ© , but..ā
>Sounds Sus
>you gay or what?
His eyes widened, SHYT, he wasnāt supposed to say that. Not that he minded the older manā¦except when he was being GHEY-but werenāt they a coupleā¦of MEN.
But arenāt they together? Da SHYT! He was a playah! BUT what about that time when they cuddled-BRUH thatās GHEY! BUT WHAT ABOUT-YOU GHEY BROSKI? BRO? B-
āBUTT-FK! I meanā¦I MEAN my BOI-FRIEND!ā
>MEGAFAG
Fiddling the ring, the band stretched beyond the size of his palm, turning into pure eleastic as it slid down his right wrist, loosely fitting like its part of some showoffy trend.
As the chat continues to spam various emotes, including a distinct rainbow head, donāt these douchebags know heās single and ready to mingle? Why are they thinkinā heās gonna be banginā it with some dude?
āWho you noobs calling GAY? Itās just ONE night!ā
> QUEER ALERT!
> GAY GAY GAY
One hand palming below, the other one flippin the stream. Colson Grohās darkened hair flicked down the side, his new asian ethnicity fully taking hold without remorse, blending in with the group of bullies pickinā on him and his-FAG!
āOne night of PRANKIN FAGS!ā
Picking on em hard, he wasnāt one of em, but man is it HOT setting them STRAIGHT! The twenty two year college dude smirked, as PHAGS couldnāt resist starinā at his clean-shaven slack-jaw and risen cheekbones till they get completely RAT PRANKED.
GGEZ
>Ayyy LIT
>Lets go BOI
>AFKinā RAT!
āBet you all canāt get ladies to your doorstep.ā
>Check GayPay
GayPay my arse, StraightCoinās the deal bro.
Though speakinā of ladies. Hot damnā¦is he THAT dry? Cause heās having that fantasy every straight, gaminā charged college guyās has.
Surrounded by hot ladies.
Then again, heās always THIRSTINā. Course, a guy like him can get a bunch of women in a flash. But he totally can jerk like a maiden-less douchebag like a bunch of the idiots watchinā him.
Makes him relatable to his RATZ, yeah? Sides, nothinā wrong with a lil jerkinā on cam, nothing GHEY bout it!
>Yo RAT, check out your numbers
>BRO past 7k
>NO CAP
LIT_GUD: +7k subs
āNggh!ā
Rapidly vibrating his 7 inch joystick, brows raised as they thinned out. The last bit of hesitation melting away, making way for youthful gaminā bravado as a seedy wide grin beamed in the stream.
āHow to LIT GUD getting chicks?ā
>PRO-DUCTION BRO!
>GIT LIT STREAM!
>YEEEEAAAAH BOI!
Comments flooding all over his stream, a mass mindset and mentality calling all to pump. PUMP! Pumping his POG-O STICK to the MAX! The Go-To-Game for men of his kind.
The HIGH score, as his eyes narrowed in utmost dumb simplicity, tilting his head upward to the ceiling as he grinned wildly as he thought boutā that simple fantasy!
All da LADIES cominā at him. YAAA BOIII!
āJUST LIT GUD BOIIIIIIIIIIIIII!ā
Colton Goh no scoped all over his boxers, slumping back as drops of youthful rebellion spluttered all over, mucking it with obnoxious bully testosterone like he always does.
Feels so LIT! Being able to climax whenever the heck he wants, why abstain when he can just LIT GUD MAN! All those goody two shoe brethren back at campus grounds are really missinā out.
But of course, heāll scoop the remaining wads of mayo to his jerk off bottle later. He may be a backslider, but he gotta be up in his production game, beat his last record and all that shiz.
Speakinā of which.
āEā¦.Zā¦.ā
7kās still just rookie numbers for a guy like him, but considering he got it all in a bunch of hours, heās as good as the pros like the rest of emā!
āYoā¦and thatās how you dudes get the ladies, man.ā
>AYYYOOOO
>MY STREAMER!
>YA BOIIIIII
āBoiz, if you see any gays going all homo on ya. You gotta give em the LIT GUD!ā
Normally he would collab with his streaming buds, but he really oughta help his Bromies out by teachin em.
Especially ratting out GHEYS until they turn into a couple of rats like he is. And what better way than to create his own Streaminā channel? All he got to do was be himself bro.
Brings in the subs, and sides, hot chicks dig him, and fags thirstinā over him get weeded out until they are a bunch of rats like he and his gamer crew.
ā[TOP] Gay Dude Joined the streamā
Speaking of fagsā¦
āAyy, a new fag joined the stream, sweet.ā
Not sure how did āGay Dudeā squirmed into his āTOPā friends list, but he mustāve added him during that stupid RNG game he tried last night while he drank Heteroade with the bois.
But honestly, heh, he doesnāt give a Rats arse bout emā. After all, he needed someone to dunk on to celebrate his 7k Subs, so why not make sure the fag gets the whole RatChat streaminā experience?
Heh, this will be hot.
āGive em a couple of Lit Guds in the chat, noobs.ā

Tales Of Crystals
Hey in the early 90s Hasbro put out a tabletop roleplaying larp for tween girls called Tales Of The Crystals, and there's a lot going on here, so I want to talk about it.
First, I want to give credit to @riseupcomus on twitter for doing a thread on it first. Riseup's thread is linked at the bottom, right after hasbro's pdf of Tales Of Crystals.
Now, what is Tales Of Crystals? Well, it's a journaling game. And it's an indie TTRPG. And it's a larp kit. And it's an audio game. And it's a cryptography kit.
It comes with its own map, rulebook, a cassette tape with multiple scenarios, a non-dice-based resolution system, four player roles, and a ruleset that's split up so that each of the four players is in charge of a different part.
If feels like a high concept, big swing indie title from 2024, but it's got thirty years worth of jump on the modern scene.
The basic premise is that the players are crystal bearers in the court of a fantasy kingdom, and there's an evil nation in the goblin swamp next door, and they have to guard the nation against treachery and ensorcellment and whatnot. It's not super duper fresh, but with how many things the game is juggling it's extremely reasonable that the plot's a little plain.
Each player's crystal comes with a power, and the powers are asymmetrical. The Leader gets the Crystal Of Shimmering Ice, which lets you oneshot enemies (nonlethally, by freezing them for a minute.) The Protector gets the Crystal Of True Sight, and can see through all lies and enchantments and mind control enemies for a minute (tbh this one is just better). There's a healing crystal and an invisibility crystal as well---and interestingly the invisibility crystal is given to the role responsible for journaling everybody's adventures. The game recognizes that at least one player of a fantasy larp for tween girls in the 90s is probably going to be a wallflower writer, and deliberately enshrines that role.
Tales Of Crystals has a solid core loop, with a deck of cards for prompts and a cassette tape for scenarios and a little circle with YES and NO marked on it that you can scatter your gems onto to get oracle answers to questions during play. It also has a LOT of gimmicks.
There's a tube of powder you can sprinkle on things to disenchant them. There's a mirror you need to read script that's been written backwards. There's three cryptographic cyphers at the back of the book. There's a box specifically for confining the evil Spider Crystal (after you've sprinkled it with powder to neutralize it.) This is a game of dozens of components, and it's a miracle the design is so tight that they all loop together so well.
Now, I don't have sales data (riseup might,) but I suspect maybe this thing didn't sell amazingly. It requires you to set up six or so distinct locations around your yard, pretty much needs a group of exactly four friends to play it, requires you to give clue elements to your parents---you'd have to be cool with it, your friends would have to be cool with it, your parents would have to be cool with it, and you'd have to have a big suburban yard in order to get a proper intended game experience. That said, its larp design is really stable, its gameplay is carefully thought out, and it includes a section at the start to encourage you to play safely and a section at the end to talk about your game together, journal your experiences, and to clean up the game components as a group when you're done.
This is good tech! And it even specifically recommends having a snack and relaxing afterward.
Tales Of Crystals doesn't use terms like bleed and session zero, but it's a good ways ahead of the curve on larp and ttrpg safety.
I didn't find the designer's name (they're listed as uncredit on BoardGameGeek, not mentioned in the PDF, and missing from the wiki page,) but they knocked this one out of the park. There's stuff in here that modern indie ttrpg designers could learn from---myself very much included.
So if you like ttrpgs, 90s magic, and stuff like Tamora Pierce and Sailor Moon, give riseup's original thread a look, and definitely check out the PDF link.
I'm thrilled this thing exists, and I hope more designers get to look at it.

Do you have any recommendations for games with fantasy pirates and tactical combat? I've really been enjoying running Pirate Borg, but I'm missing my crunchy strategy mini games. Thanks for everything you do for the community!
Theme: Tactical Pirate Fantasy
Hello friend, so by ātacticalā my best guess as to what youāre looking for is games that provide your characters with multiple options when it comes to resolving conflicts, with some options being better than others. This may or may not include maps in combat, but I think it might also include environmental considerations, buffs or de-buffs for using specific pieces of gear, and accounting for range or position when firing a gun.
However, really tactical games are much harder for me to find, probably because thereās so much math that goes into them. I did my best to give you a range of options, but Iām not entirely sure how well any one of these pirate games match your definition of ātacticalā.
Bilge Rats, by Games by Cass.
Take to The Sea of Mischief and gamble your life away on high seas adventures as ratfolk pirates. Chase buried treasure, hunt wannabe pirate lords, and engage in some all together unsavoury action in Bilge Rats: A Sea of Mischief. This 78 page guide has everything you need to get your adventures on The Sea of Mischief up and running--except for the d6 dice, cups, and pencils you're gonna need. So, dust off your tricorn caps, get your cutlass shined, and get ready to set sail!
Bilge Ratsā form of strategy is probably unlike what you think of when you think of a tactical game, but I think itās interesting and worth taking a look at! The basic system is centred around a game called āLiarās Diceā, which involves rolling, bluffing if you donāt succeed, and calling otherās bluffs. You roll a pool of d6ās, with the difficulty being determined by a) the minimum number to beat to be considered a success and b) the number of successes you need to do the thing. As a player youāll have to decide when a roll is worth bluffing, and if you enter PVP, itās also about determining when your opponent is bluffing - challenge someone when theyāre right, and youāll pay the cost!
That being said, I think the most tactical part of this game comes into play during naval battles. Your character type is called a āDutyā, which determines your role upon the ship, your order of initiative, and a number of skill values. Youāll also have to consider wind speed, wind direction, and the roughness of the waves every time you engage in combat on a boat, so making strategic choices to improve your odds is probably pretty important.
The Runed Age, by Stormforge Productions.
In a world where magic and technology have fused together, where the limits that man is capable of have been broken, where a man can destroy the world with a stroke of a pen, the poor starve and the rich prosper off the blood of innocence. A world that should be a utopia has been turned by greed and pride into a battlefield where the poor wage war in the shadows for the ambitions of the wealthy. You are one of these scoundrels, these rogues, these pirates who struggle for the sport of the rich to achieve the glory, the riches, the power to break your chains and surpass the limits of The Runed Age.
The Runed Age is built on the Sigil System, a robust d100 roll-under system that allows you to play as narratively or simulationist as you want. The d100 genre of systems is a tried a true roleplaying method, and what sets the Sigil System (and thus the Ruined Age) apart from the rest is its combat and wounds system, which reflects the stresses and rigours of combat on the body to make combat as realistic as possible. This means that every fight in the Runed Age is a gritty, epic and lethal struggle for survival where you need to be prepared to do your best just to outlive your opponent.
The Runed Age is saturated with magic, using Runes as a mechanic to write your own spells. The openness of the system means that players have a lot of control over what they do with their magic, but the game definitely rewards system mastery because every time you try to write a spell, youāll have to consider fiddly bits like power, range, and control.
When it comes to rolling dice, the system is heavily inspired by Call of Cthulhu. One review I found for this game mentions a possibility for tactical play, so Iām assuming that combat is more survival than CoC. If you want magic to be a significant part of the game, you probably want to check out The Runed Age.
Blood & Thunder, by Black Flag Printing Press.
You are a cutthroat aboard a pirate ship, seeking theĀ fortune and glory that awaits those strong enough to take it. Brave the waterways of Erda and get rich or die trying in this nautical piracy TTRPG.
Lethal combat meets reactive gameplay at the infantry scale. Board, capture, or sink enemy vessels with naval play. Boasting rules for three dimensional range-finding and movement, even a regular swim in the ocean can become a deadly hazard as you're ripped apart by sharks, sea monsters, or something far worse.
Blood & Thunder is definitely fantastical, just judging from the races that you can choose from. Like D&D, your character choices are pre-packaged with stat bonuses and special abilities, but unlike D&D, you us a d100 for most of your rolls. Difficulty levels range from 0-100, with a limit on what you can even attempt to do depending on how high your skill rating is. If you can roll, youāll aim to roll under your max skill rating.
Character levelling is also strategic; you need to meet certain requirements to take specific careers. Combat is also pretty dependent on a grid map, which I interpret to mean that range and positioning are two factors that youāll have to consider, as well as an action economy that ensures that youāll have to make your moves count.
Pirates and Musketeers, by Andrezj Buhlak.
The 17th century was rich in interesting events, political intrigues, bloody wars, and sea voyages. This book is a gateway to this fascinating period of history. If "dry history" is not enough for you, you can spice it up with fantastic assumptions, including vampires, werewolves, sea monsters and ancient ruins.
Pirates and Musketeers uses the Year Zero engine, which provides you with a number of d6s to roll that come from your base traits, character skills, and character gear. You have the ability to āpushā your roll should your initial effort fail, which you will likely do often, as only 6ās are considered a success. However, should you āpushā (or āre-rollā) your roll, any 1ās that you roll will also inflict penalties, doing damage to a stat or your gear. This means that in many stages of game-play, players will be balancing how much they value success against how many consequences theyāre willing to face.
Language-wise, Iām not really a big fan of the way the game uses the term āsavages.ā The time period in this game is at the strength of many colonial empires, and some of that definitely bleeds through, so pick up this game with caution.
Caraval Crew, by iotsov.
A low fantasy TTRPG that focuses on sailing ships.
Right now, as far as I can tell, Caravel Crew is untested, but it has a lot of pieces for you to pick up and fiddle with. Combat has a lot of different kinds of options for your characters to exploit, with different outcomes if you bash, stab, shoot, parry, grapple, etc. Thereās different weapons that are useful for different skills, and getting new weapons costs gold - an important resource to track. Youāll have a number of resources that youāll need to keep track of and monitor, including hit points and something called EP.
On top of that, thereās also social and survival rules, so if you want a game that gives you engaging combat while still giving thought to other parts of the game, maybe pick up Caraval Crew and take it for a test drive!
24XX Skeleton Crew, by Jonah Boyd.
Dead men DO tell talesā¦ on the other side.Ā Skeleton Crew takes place in the sailorās purgatory, Davy Jonesā Locker. When one dies at sea, their soul is brought to the Locker for a vast voyage to judge their fate. Some sailors only spend a few days in the Locker, but many form swashbuckling crews to preserve their non-lives for weeks, months, or years before judgement calls.
24XX games are another approach to the OSR (the same house of game design that fuels Pirate Borg), but use different-sized dice to represent a larger skill. I think thereās still more chance than strategy here, but again, this is a game that you could probably pull things from and then put into another system if youāre looking flavour.
The few fiddly bits that do exist in this game are things like different kinds of ships and different toys to put onto the ship - two things that you might be able to tack onto a game that doesnāt currently think about them, and thus opening up more pieces to consider should you get into a fight. Your ship could also come with flaws - what happens if you get in a fire-fight with a ship that has misfiring cannons? How might that complicate the battlefield?
You can also combine this game with another similar 24XX game, such as 14XX Golden Age to broaden your character origins or give yourself a few extra rules toys to play with.
Islands of the Far Sea, by Kindred Spirits, and Lilliputian, by ManaDawn Tabletop Games.
Islands of the Far Sea is a pirate-themed hack of Chris McDowell's Into the Odd, taking place in the Islands of the Oddworld. Play as one of seven Failed Careers in your new days as a Treasure-Hunter!
Lilliputian: Adventure on the Open Seas is an adventure game about exploring the vast and expansive ocean,Ā filled with uncharted islands, hidden treasure, weird weather and unspeakable horrors. Character creation is fast, fun and random, classless, and relies on fictional advancement. It is based on Mausritter by Isaac Williams, Into The Odd by Chris McDowall and Cairn by Yochai Gal, as-well-as so many more.
Into the Odd and Mausritter use the same bones, and both of these game books acknowledge that inspiration, although Lilliputian also draws quite a bit from Cairn. I donāt consider either of these games to be tactical games - but what they do have is possibilities that can be imported into other games. The Failed Careers from Islands of the Far Sea are packaged skills and gear that you can give a character to start with. They will then have to figure out how to make their kit work for the problems they walk into.
Lilliputian also has specific rules for naval combat, as well as lots and lots of random tables. I think more than anything it communicates a specific vibe, but taking a little bit from one game and a little bit from another is one way to customize your experience - as well as give your players more options when trying to figure out how to tackle their next salty obstacle.

CW: Smut, mentions of dacryphilia and BDSM, Pet Play, Bondage, uhhh mentions of female anatomy in some, anal, squirting. Let me know if I missed anything.
WC: 390
A/N: ā¦Enjoy š„²
Kei definitely brings his competitive side into bed with him. Heāll make little bets with his friends simply because they doubted that he could make you squirt more than once. So he decided to record you two and had you squirt multiple times just to prove them wrong.
Fuma is the type to try anal once and gets addicted. You two just tried it out and now he canāt get enough of it, heās actually kind of ashamed. Heās also embarrassed to admit he loves roleplay/cosplay for intimate moments.
Nicholas definitely has a handcufs and a vibrator in his bag, he cleans it donāt worry. But my boy just loves to randomly pull you aside and shove the vibrator in your tight hole while controlling it via an app on his phone. He also loves handcuffing your hands behind your back as he fucks into you from behind.
Euijoo secretly loves BDSM and dacryphilia. He fell in love with it from the first time he tied you up and had you sobbing because he was too big and it was too much. He cooed at you saying how cute you are as he does the most filthiest things to your body.
Yuma loves your titties/chest, he always has to have his hands near your chest. Also one of the biggest advocates for pet play, he just really wants you to wear cat ears and butt plug that has a tail attached to it. Bonus point if you have a collar that had his name on itš
Jo loves making eye contact with you, doesnāt matter if heās making sweet sweet love to you or if heās breaking your back. He doesnāt talk much during sex but he canāt help but chant āmineā over and over again when heās close.
Harua is another lover of pet play but also loves having control. Everyone sees him a small and submissive baby, but he loves to prove you otherwise. And he acts all innocent afterwards too as if he didnāt just have you screaming his name while he railed his dick into you leaving several hickeys all of your body.
Taki always has you cockwarmed him while he plays his games, saying that heāll be fine and he just wants you close. But he doesnāt last any longer than 5 minutes of having you tightly wrapped around his cock. He definitely doesnāt help that youāre moaning oh so softly and whining. So he canāt help but exit out of his game just to fuck you.

I love the idea of a reader that likes to play slasher movie with Luka. A reader that goes to a bar and picks up a guy and lures them to the woods to start off the slasher movie clichĆ©. it ends with the guy slaughtered and Luka chasing the reader and claiming them, the reader is slung over Lukaās shoulder for a night of fun. Such a cute date idea š
Omgā¦. This is SUCH an amazing idea for an AU of sorts. I think your ask is mostly referring to them basically roleplaying, but I like the idea of it also being real. ^_^ For regular Luka, that would totally be a perfect date idea, though... (Ėļø¶Ė).ļ½”.:*ā”
If you donāt mind, I shall elaborate on it.~ š¤ ( Ā“ ā½ ` ).ļ½”ļ½ā”
((For this version of Luka, I imagine he wears a muzzle.))
TWs: graphic violence, blood, NSFW
GN reader!!
š¤ Luka and his darling: a serial killer duo that the world will never forget. You: the lure. Him: the hunter.
The two of you prey upon a small town, living right around the outskirts within the forest. The entire place is surrounded by miles upon miles of trees: the perfect gravesite for your allās countless victims.
You both work together so perfectly; your crimes are nearly flawless. Thereās a rumor that goes around claiming anyone who talks to you will eventually go missing, but nobody is able to say for sure... In all honesty, this doesnāt scare anyone awayā in fact, it draws people closer to you. Theyāre so curious to see if the rumor is true.
Luka has you both wearing matching outfits: black leather jackets with angel wings messily painted on the back.
The entire situation is so, so exhilarating. It never gets boring.
You lure your victim away from the bar and out into the woods with the promise of money or sex. It works every time. Nobody can resist you.
The two of you go deeper and deeper into the forest under the guise of playing a fun little game of tag or hide and seek. You smile and laugh as you spur the other person on, encouraging them to come catch you.
But far in the distance, Luka is watching closely, biding his time.
Sometimes Luka switches things up. On some days, heāll use a knife. On others, heāll use a scythe. But his main weapon of choice is oddly a chainsaw.
He loves the way his victims freeze up in horror when they hear the saw go off. Luka is silent and precise, but the chainsaw is loud and reckless. Putting them together is the perfect storm.
Thereās never been a time where Luka hasnāt captured his prey. Luka is always so much fasterā and he knows the forest like the back of his hand. In many ways, itās his territory, his morbid little playground.
Luka never likes to end the chase quicklyā he prefers to draw it out. He always gives his victims a head start. It makes things so much more interesting.
When heās ready to hunt, Luka makes his presence known, then counts down from ten.Ā
He sneaks around through the trees and hides within the bushes, always keeping his distance. But he never lets his victims stray too far.
Luka likes to analyze his preyās behavioral patterns before deciding how he wants to catch them.
Every time he captures someone, itās always an absolute massacre. Blood pools in the green grass below, dyeing it a dark red. Blood splatters all over the nearby rocks and trees, staining them permanently. He tears into his victims to the point where theyāre unrecognizable.Ā
And when heās done, he flips his victims onto their stomachs and carves a pair of angel wings into their backs.
After heās done carving, heāll whistle a specific tune, and thatās when you know that itās your turn to run. And just like how he does it with his victims, he gives you a head start.
But since he loves you, he gives you twenty seconds instead of ten.~
When heās nearby, heāll rev up his chainsaw as a warning, giving you a little bit of time to run further away from him. He loves the way you keep on trying, despite knowing that itās inevitable heāll catch you.
After he reaches you and tackles you from behind, heāll toss the chainsaw aside and pin you down to the ground, already hard and ready to ravage you.
He aggressively pulls your pants down to your ankles and spreads your legs apart, lifting your ass high up in the air. He then rips your underwear off and tosses aside the scrapsā he does this every time without fail. And without saying anything more, he buries his cock deep inside of you and bottoms out.
The blood of your allās victim mixes with sweat as he fucks you ruthlessly, smirking deviously as he whispers praises in your ear.
The muzzle over his mouth drives him insaneā all he wants to do is leave marks on your skin and kiss you on the lips. Heād do anything to stick his tongue in your mouth and dig his fangs into you.
In many ways, the sex is a way to celebrate a job well done. Another person on a long list of victimsā¦ The two of you are bound together by the sick and twisted nature of your crimes.
If one of you falls, the other falls too. Every victory is shared. Life was so, so boring before the two of you met each otherā¦ And now, Luka canāt stand the idea of a life without you.
His little tease, the perfect bait for his hunts, his partner in crime. He cums deep inside of you as he darkly moans your name, holding you in place the entire time. He loves the way you convulse around his length as you both come down from your highs.
Since you did such a good job, heāll make sure you get to cum two or three times, just because he loves you so much.
And when everything is done, Luka will lovingly lift you up from off the ground and sling you over his shoulder, giving your ass a little smack too. He smirks if it makes you squeal.
Then the two of you go further into the woods, back to the little cabin that the two of you share. š¤

the epic conclusion to The Freakylockeā¢
recently i did a hardcore nuzlocke of pokemon firered but with an extra gimmick layered on top to keep me invested: naming all my encounters after my friends, randomly chosen by spinning a wheel of names whenever i get a new encounter. this is not the same as a "friendlocke" as popularized by saltydkdan if you're aware of that btw, my friend's don't roleplay the pokemon or pick what they do, i just livepost my playthrough with my friends and they get to feel like they're involved and it makes it a semi-social thing, which is fun for me. i did one of these in emerald last year with friends from a specific group chat with "club" in the name that i fittingly called the clublocke, and this time in firered i deemed the playthrough the "freakylocke", based off of a running gag in the group chat of friends i named my pokemon after this time (the likodot server!! hi guys!!) tbh if i keep doing these i should really think of a name for this Type of nuzlocke but i haven't figured one out yet... anyway
i did not actively livepost the freakylocke on tumblr because i already had my hands full liveposting it on discord to my friends in question! but the ending to the run ended up being so much fun that i wanted to do a retelling of the E4+champion here to memorialize this run lol
so! after NUMEROUS hours of grinding, i finally got the whole team to level 60, which is the level of lance's highest leveled pokemon, and was ready to take on the E4. my copy of firered is in japanese so for convenience's sake, i've edited these photos of my team taken before the E4 to have the move names in english
a little more detail about the team: first off, they do all have hold items. frosty (frost in-game because frosty didn't fit the JPN character limit lol) the charizard has charcoal, bibi the golem has leftovers, zur the persian has a spell tag, motsu the jolteon has a magnet, mari the gengar has a twistedspoon, and vee the lapras has a mysticwater. multiple of these can be obtained easily, but i had to grind for the magnet, twistedspoon, and spell tag off of wild pokemon that only had a 5% chance of holding them, which was a bit of a nightmare lol. the spell tag had enabled zur to sweep sabrina (barring her venomoth which i swapped out for) by just clicking shadow ball, the twistedspoon was necessary for some damage ranges for koga with gengar's psychic, and i grinded for the magnet before the E4 because motsu's special attack was um... shit. i was making up for the minus special attack nature, careful lol
second, it's worth acknowledging that i half picked this team based on what encounters i thought i had that were strong, and half just because of emotional attachment, ESPECIALLY in the case of zur the persian - for some reason i got super attached to using persian during this playthrough and i was DETERMINED to get him to the end alive, even though persian was definitely not the most optimal pokemon for the job lol. i could go on about my move choices on these mons, but i'll spare you and let the upcoming fights speak for themselves, aside from quickly mentioning. Yes i put explosion on golem. ideally i wanted to go deathless but i figured it could be useful in a pinch if i was driven into a corner.
the first three members of the e4 were uneventful and i made pretty quick work of them, even with motsu's terrible special attack missing some thunderbolt damage ranges on lorelei's water types, forcing me to send out vee, lol. but when things really got heated was during the lance fight. at this point i was playing on my ds capture card to share my screen to my friends, so i have clean photos! (the layout is leafgreen themed, it's something i made literal years ago, i was too lazy to make anything new lmao)
one thing leads to another and i'm staring down lance's ace dragonite with frosty the charizard on half HP. my team at this point is incredibly healthy as i've maneuvered the battle well so far, but now i'm in a bit of a dilemma, because this dragonite has outrage AND hyper beam, both very powerful moves that will definitely get the KO on frosty if i leave him in, and to make matters worse, since both will KO, which one out of the two lance picks is random, so i can't accurately predict what he's going to do. i need to ideally get vee in to use ice beam, which should be a 1-shot, but it's risky... if i wanted to play fully optimally, i would scan my team for which member i would need least during the champion fight against blue and sacrifice them to get a clean swap into vee, but... i'm still dedicated to wanting to beat this E4 deathless at this point, so i decide, okay, vee is bulky, they can definitely live a hyper beam or two hits of outrage, i just need lance to not get a crit
and you won't believe what happens next when i hard swap into vee!
lance uses hyper beam on the switch and GETS THE CRIT, FAINTING VEE IN ONE SHOT... the reaction in the discord chat speaks for itself LOL
so at this point i'm kind of panicking since not only do i have to somehow make it out of this fight against lance's dragonite, i have to get out of it healthy enough to still handle the champion fight against blue, of which vee was my answer into his blastoise so that's. not good. and to make matters worse, while staring down my options and verbally reasoning out what i should do, i ACCIDENTALLY PREMATURELY SEND OUT FROSTY!! I LITERALLY JUST PRESSED THE WRONG BUTTONS BECAUSE MY HANDS WERE KIND OF SHAKY WHILE TRYING TO OPEN THE SUMMARY SCREEN SINCE I WAS INVESTIGATING WHETHER FROSTY (THE PERSON IN THE CHAT) WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE DRAGON CLAW 2HKO š
my one saving grace is that dragonite is now in hyper beam recharge, so now that i've accidentally sent out frosty i'm able to fire off a single dragon claw for free...
and it's not even a two hit KO š!!! so the dream of just outspeeding dragonite and 2 shotting it with dragon claw is in the dust now and i have to make some tough choices.
ultimately, i decide frosty could potentially be too important for the champion fight to let them go down, and i decide to switch into bibi the golem... my thought process was, i definitely needed bibi the least for the fight against blue, so if dragonite picked outrage and bibi went down, i would be able to get a clean swap into something that could take on the last of dragonite's HP, or if dragonite picked hyper beam, bibi would tank that like a champ on account of resisting normal and having high physical defense, and be able to get a free hit in during the recharge turn.
i send out bibi holding my breath AND...
LANCE CHOOSES HYPER BEAM!!! YES!!! and HILARIOUSLY it was ANOTHER CRIT, but bibi still shrugs it off like it's NOTHING
so now i'm in one last dilemma: i have two options here, taking the KO with a super effective rock slide, or taking the KO with an incredibly powerful explosion. rock slide seems like the obvious choice, but the issue is... it's only 90% accurate, and if it misses, bibi definitely dies next turn, and living the hyper beam would have been for nothing. on the other hand, explosion ensures the battle is won, but bibi definitely dies, in that case. i'm excessively indecisive on what to do so i ask my friends and their answer is pretty damn clear
so i click rock slide. AND!!!!
BIBI, THE ABSOLUTE CHAMP, LANDS IT!!!
bibi clutching up against lance lets her not only live another day, but it means that i get to fight blue with a team of 5 instead of 4 or even worse! ...this does NOT mean the blue fight is going to be free, though.
blue's team is actually pretty threatening at this point, especially without my lapras to tank blastoise's potentially rain-boosted hydro pumps. before jumping into the fight, i think very carefully about my options, but ultimately my prep work amounts to taking the charcoal off of frosty and giving them a chesto berry, just in case i have to hard swap into exeggutor and take a sleep powder, so i can one-shot it with flamethrower easily in that scenario.
my lead is pretty straightforward, i just take out pidgeot immediately with thunderbolt from motsu.
next, blue sends out Rhydon. i debate on what to do for a moment, since obviously i need to swap out, but i'm unsure if rhydon will use earthquake or rock tomb - if EQ 1-shots motsu, it will definitely use EQ, but otherwise there's a huge chance it could use rock tomb since the gen 3 AI loves to use moves that lower speed if you currently outspeed them. ultimately i realize with a quick bit of thinking that there's no way EQ doesn't KO motsu, even from full, so i send out mari the gengar on it, who has levitate and takes no damage from it, letting her outspeed and fire off a massive psychic attack into rhydon's pitiful special defense
unfortunately not pitiful enough for Mari to get even close to a 1 hit KO, forcing her to take a rock tomb in the process. but despite the speed drop, she still outspeeds and is able to take out rhydon with another psychic on the next turn.
out next comes alakazam and i decide alright, i can handle the rest of this fight without gengar, and i don't want anyone to swap in on the obvious upcoming psychic, i don't have any mons that can tank that... so i decide to sacrifice mari
...but then blue just... goes for future sight??? LMFAO so the hail mary hypnosis that i clicked just in case something like this happened fires off and actually lands!
this massive luck plus some lucky sleep turns allow mari to take out alakazam with two consecutive thunderbolts, leaving her alive when blue sends out arcanine next... but she takes the future sight damage at this point and is left too low to survive a flamethrower from the arcanine, which outspeeds her because of the rock tomb speed drop from earlier... ultimately, mari is still sacrificed. but taking out alakazam was a MASSIVE help, she performed amazingly
my next move is fairly straightforward - i send out bibi the golem who can survive any move arcanine tosses out and KO it with an earthquake (something i couldn't have done as easily if she fainted against lance!)
unfortunately, this brings in the pokemon i was afraid of, Blastoise, and considering bibi is weak to and doesn't outspeed both of blue's remaining pokemon, blastoise and exeggutor, there's no reason to preserve her life over getting a clean swap into another pokemon, so i let her go down to a hydro pump.
MASSIVE salutes to bibi though, her surviving hyper beam during the lance fight and landing the rock slide against his dragonite pretty much saved this run. coolest golem ever
at this point, i have just motsu the jolteon, frosty the charizard, and zur the persian remaining, and even though motsu cannot get the 1 hit KO on blastoise with a thunderbolt, even with the magnet item due to their pitiful special attack, it's still the most obvious choice to get guaranteed damage off, so i send in motsu and use thunderbolt. at this point, i'm pretty relieved because i've essentially won the fight - even if motsu faints from a hydro pump (i'm unsure if they can live one or not), the thunderbolt will get enough damage for zur and frosty to clean up the remainder of his HP, and then frosty can 1 shot exeggutor with flamethrower like planned. but, there's still a little more left to this story...
motsu actually does live a single non-crit hydro pump on the red, so they're able to finish off blastoise with another thunderbolt, leaving blue with only exeggutor. the answer is obvious - if i just swap into frosty right now, i can win the battle instantly, not even risking getting put to sleep because of the chesto berry i put on them before the fight began. BUT...
remember how i said i was really emotionally attached to my persian? i'm overjoyed that zur was going to live to the very end like i wanted, but they also didn't get to do anything in this fight and i thought that was lame. i knew they had spell tag boosted shadow balls which were super effective into exeggutor, so surely they might be able to take it out instead of frosty, right? and beating blue's final pokemon with a persian in a hardcore nuzlocke was HILARIOUS in my opinion.
this is in addition to zur using shadow ball being a running joke during this run; back when i fought sabrina, i mentioned this before but i was able to grind for the spell tag and 1-shot all of her psychic types with zur, making the fight super easy... and back when i was liveposting that to the discord server, my friend babs said this in response to me making a typo on shadow ball
zur "blasting bals" became a running gag from here on out so it would be ACTUALLY poetic for me to finish this run with a shadow ball. i HAD to try.
issue: motsu's special attack was still GARBAGE and the bite i used (a special attack in gen 3 as a reminder, all dark type moves are special there) to get some damage on exeggutor first wasn't enough to ensure that zur could follow up with a clean shadow ball knockout. my friends were encouraging me to send out zur anyway, but i really didn't want to because it could go south so fast and if zur DIED in the champion fight i'd be REALLY UPSET. but THEN. i REMEMBERED.
ZUR! HAS! FAKE OUT! I JUST FORGOT!
and so, with a combination of the free fake out chip and the spell tag boosting shadow ball's power, zur is just barely able to ensure a KO onto blue's exeggutor, winning the fight and the entire run, resulting in maybe one of the funniest nuzlocke end screens ever (to me at least)
and that is how i managed to beat the freakylocke despite some terrible luck while taking a massive risk against lance LOL. this file is no longer in "nuzlocke mode" and i've been using it for other gen 3 shenanigans, which i will post about eventually...
special shoutouts to the four deaths other than vee the lapras of the run as well:
kris the kadabra, who fainted to an easily avoidable crit from a koffing because i was playing tilted and tired (oops)
serena the gyarados, who fainted to a crit from a random trainer's weezing (less easily avoidable but still sucked, i had put a lot of time into training her!!)
kay the paras, who was sacrificed nobly against sabrina's alakazam to allow a free swap back into zur for the shadow ball KO after the rest of my team handled her venomoth
babs the growlithe, who i was really excited to use because it's a version exclusive and i almost always play leafgreen instead, but who died to a random crit from ANOTHER koffing that i didn't think they'd faint to (the koffing line was enemy #1 of this run i guess)
oh and in speaking of babs, to commemorate the run, they drew this.
it's incredible. i'm cherishing this art forever. you can see more of their art on their blog @vulturevanity LOL
