Deanna Leimert was not a simple woman, thank you very much.
She was many things, but simple was not one of them.
But oh, she knew she didn’t look like much to random passersby. Deanna didn’t mind that, though, because she had learned to ignore what other folks thought of her a long time ago. Or at least, that’s what she let other people think. What was important, was whatever task was at hand.
There was always work to be done - kids to raise, mouths to feed, neighbors to check up on, knitting to finish, and a husband to wait up for.
Until there wasn’t anything. Until there was a flash of claws or teeth or whatever had done her in - and nothing. There was always something until there was nothing but a snowflake dissolving into the ocean.
Deanna supposed that wasn’t nothing, but it wasn’t anything either - it wasn’t even everything. It just was. Deanna wasn’t even Deanna there, and hadn’t that been a relief she didn’t know she needed?
How her husband found out, Deanna never asked, and probably never would. Don’t get her wrong, she had a lot of questions.
Why bother with a promise? Why did you move on? Was it easy? Why wait 200 years? Why did you leave the kids behind? Why did you leave me behind? Wasn’t I enough for you? Why am I never enough?
But that was too heavy for “fresh off a resurrection” talk. And it was too heavy for “surprise I have another family” talk. And it was just a little too off the mark for “I’m leaving you behind again” talk. It was always too heavy, too much like a drop of liquid lead, forever adhered to the back of Deanna’s throat because she could never let her anger reach melting point (327 degrees Celsius, in case you were wondering). Because Deanna didn’t let her anger rule her. Or at least, that’s what she let other people think. And maybe herself, too.
So she wandered into Uthodurn and tried not to think about a certain long gone gnome with a knit cap, or her husband, or her family, or the way the world had shifted and eroded without her. Deanna stubbornly ignored the phantom limb sensation of being freshly separated from a whole and then set adrift in a completely separate ocean - alone.
At least in the other place, she knew she hadn’t been alone.
She had her knitting supplies, a new body, a new chance at life, and the symbol of the Dawn Father.
She didn’t have her family. She hasn’t felt grief in so long, Deanna’s not sure if that’s what this weight behind her ribs is. It might just be her heart, but it’s been a long time since she had one that only belonged to her.
The cleric told Deanna that her soul had been willing and able, and she has a brief recollection of acknowledgement. But that consent was starting to feel a little uninformed. If she had known her husband wouldn’t still be Deanna’s, or how long she had been away, Deanna might have made a different choice.
But she was Deanna Leimert and she was not a simple woman.
It was hard to remember if Leimert was her name or her husband’s, but at this point it felt so integral to her identity, Deanna didn’t care anymore. She was now a cleric to the Dawn Father, an attempt to pay the favor forward. A desperate grab at the only anchor she hadn’t lost yet in this new life.
Then there was FRIDA, and a playback of Deanna’s laughter, and it sounded...genuine. Deanna forgot she knew how to laugh like that. FRIDA said laughter was a peek at someone’s soul, and Deanna thought they might be right. To Deanna, her laughter sounded like the other place, like a snowflake on the ocean, like the barely there whisper of grey water against itself for eternity. Her phantom limbs didn’t ache so much with FRIDA and laughter around.
Deanna felt lighter, again. She pushed the heavy talk to the side because what did she have that she might be ungrateful for? There was nothing to complain about! Or at least, that’s what she let other people think. Everyone except FRIDA, who apparently read her like an open book.
Deanna was good, she was great, even! She had her knitting, her stew, FRIDA, and a whole new life ahead of her.
Things were perfect.

Hobbit/LOTR characters when their s/o is upset with them
yes i'm reusing this trope and i dont care its easy-- also lmk if u want more characters and which onessss :3
requests are open (seriously please give me ideas)
Thorin
honestly
his reaction is so dependant on when you're upset with him
if its during the journey he will notice right away
he refuses to go to bed angry at each other
he makes time for you guys to talk every night
if its during his dragon sickness bit
yeah
no
he doesn't give a single shit
telling him that you're upset doesn't even do anything except make him mad
like you're wasting his time
AND
not looking for the stone so like
what the fuck are you doing
if we're talking like after the war
everybody lives au ofc
it probably takes him a little while to notice that you're upset if you don't flat out say anything
he's just slightly busy rebuilding a kingdom
honestly when he does notice or when you tell him
he feels bad
he decides it's time for a break
even if it's just for an hour or two
will take you through the halls just to talk through things
or he'll sit and have tea with you
honestly whatever you wanna do he's down
you are his only priority
if only for an hour
Fili
i would say that he's probably pretty in tune with your emotions
hes a sweet dwarf
will make you tea because he knows your upset
sometimes forgets that hes a little shit
like doesnt realise that things he does can make people upset
let alone you
right over his head
you will have to sit him down and talk with him
he will feel bad immediately
will apologize
offers to make it up to you in any way he can
I feel like if this happens after like the battle and the reclaiming of his future kingdom
he might be a bit busy
but he wants to sit and talk to you every night before bed
even if its just for a few minutes
so when you went to bed without him one night
oh he knows he messed up
theres no way to misinterpret that
will wake you up with kisses and apologies
even if he doesn't know what he is apologizing for
hes just a big sweetie
Kili
sweet boy
another kind of clueless one
id assume that you probably get upset at him sometime during the journey
while yes he is sweet
he can be kind of neglectful without meaning to be
he feels like he has to prove himself to his uncle because he is different from the other dwarves.
has a lot on his mind
i feel like he deffo neglects your relationship at times bc of it
which is why you pulled back
not pushing for affection as much as you did before
letting him get himself into bad situations
reminding him to eat/sharpen his sword
setting up his bedroll while he goes off to help with camp set up
it takes him a couple days to realize something is off
bc he totally doesnt realize how much you're actually looking out for him
it hits him one night after dinner that his bed roll isnt set up? and its not next to you? and you're already asleep?
wait when did he actually sit down and talk to you last?
doesn't sleep that night, just sits and watches you while thinking back on the past like week
as soon as you wake up he's by your side and asking if you guys could take a walk before the journey starts for that day
you agree
he immediately starts apologizing and explaining himself
i think the best way to deal with it is to like
have a nice sit down and talk it out
maybe not right at that moment but
eventually you guys have a long talk where you both talk about how you're feeling with the relationship and just emotionally and i think that solves a lot
like he lets u know just how insecure he is bc of how different he is
and you can talk about feeling neglected
at the end of it all he promises to put more effort but also wants you to know that you dont HAVE to do all those things for him to notice you/love you
very healthy tbh

TSATS is hilarious to me. They give Will a whole book to help us really get to know him as a character and a chance for him to be a more developed character. And instead we get a whole book of him being useless and dragging Nico down and forcing Nico to carry his pathetic arse for the whole book. Instead of making him a more developed character it just made me dislike him even more for being such a waste of space for an entire book.
Saaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmme dude. You just summarized what tsats was at its core. It’s such a shame that the idea of the sun and the star and Will Solace had so much potential it could have been amazing if it was done right. Will could have been amazing. He was amazing before Mark and Rick fumbled him And instead we got this dumpster fire. Such a shame.
And a point that I haven’t seen talked about enough is Nico being pressured to come out to the whole camp felt so wrong
the whole scene of how the dryads kinda outed Nico to the whole camp or at least pressured him to come out randomly with no warning at all. That really did not sit right with me at all. it almost felt like Nico was being outed again or very much pressured to come out because of the crowd expected an announcement from him. Like I get that the dryads made a social blunder and misinterpreted what Nico asked of them. It’s possible Nico might not have been all that clear. But like. Nico coming out to a full crowd like that especially so soon after BoO. D I D. N O T. S I T. R I G H T. W I T H. M E. It would have better if that whole thing was not written. Or at least if Nico had bailed out it of that situation and just grew the balls to privately ask Will out himself.
Because Nico’s always been very short and to the point with things. The type of guy to do his own work for himself. He once said something like “he didn’t like working with other people because they were always cramping his style” in BoO. Sure he could be trying to branch out and make friends. But I don’t think he’d trust a bunch of random dryads he barely knows with this kind of thing. If he was gonna ask anybody else to help him set up something as serious and a first date with Will it would be his trusted friends. Hazel Jason Reyna Hedge.
Also the whole thing about Nico being pressured to come out somehow helped other queer kids in the camp. Like first of all that’s not Nico’s responsibility especially not when he was still dealing with internalized stuff for himself. And second of all. It’s a Greek camp. With a whole bunch of kids there and that whole scene took place during summer time when they are the most packed. 100-200 campers. In New York. Theres gotta be at least a couple other out queer kids in that camp. (Probably more than a couple tbh).
The whole scene pressuring Nico to come out to and ask Will out didn’t make sense and felt so wrong and weird. Amongst a bunch of other things too. But this is the one that was on my mind at the moment. There are many other things about tsats that felt so wrong and I may be too sleep deprived to rant about them now

oh boy, listen, the qsmp election should just be renamed the broken telephone event bc there's no way people are misrepresenting everyone's platform and to be fair character (and, a note, literally all of this is also about characters AT NO POINT DO I MEAN CCS i just get lazy typing the q! tbh) so much. maybe it's a language barrier thing, maybe it's difficulty in being the devil's advocate but it's wild to see in real time.
i watch bad religiously, try to watch as much of forever's pov i can live and what i can't i watch in vods, cellbit i catch when i can, baghera i do my best but french and me don't mix well in my head. this is coming from someone who is a native portuguese speaker and perfectly bilingual when it comes to english. i say this to illustrate that especially between the english and portuguese speakers, i'm not getting lost in buggy translations or difficulty undestanding.
do i disagree with insaneduo? yep, but that's a personal opinion. i also entirely understand not only their stance during the debates (do i enjoy it? not really, the tone — which is not aggressive, it's assertive — is anxiety inducing TO ME PERSONALLY and so i struggle) but also their platform. they're doing the best with what they've been given, and keeping your enemies close is the only thing in their opinion has truly shown any sort of result. using the federation's resources is an opportunity they can't pass up! they have great ideas, good implementation plans, and cellbit isn't even running so really, forever is doing the most as he should. i understand why he doesn't understand the anarchy route in this situation. yes, their platform has been misrepresented, but that's because ultimately what they showcase in public forums aka debates for all to see does come across as very assertive (which is what debates are for, asserting your stance) and at times a bit tunnel vision imo. listening to them properly out of the debates would do a lot to stop whatever circus has been going on.
now, i have seen an insane amount of people almost mischaracterising bad and baghera as a response to the misinterpretation of insaneduo, and that's not fair either. bad and baghera have spoken at length about their issues with presidency, how they don't want to centralise power, how they don't trust the federation and they definitely don't trust anyone who will be actively pulled around by them. are they all puppets? yes, but do you want to give power to someone who willingly or not is giving up their own strings? it's normal that they're reluctant or just blatantly refusing of that idea. they don't think insaneduo are power hungry dictators, they've in fact spoken multiple times talking about how they think BOTH cellbit and forever would be good presidents (bad specifically mentioned it even last night) but that the concern isn't them, it's the federation.
bad making a joke about helping foolish assassinate anyone other than baghera and gegg is… a joke. it's literally a silly goofy joke based on "my coalition vs everyone else" and the idea of political assassination. there's quite literally no need, and frankly imo a disservice to the relationship that bad and forever have to mischaracterise that. if i remember correctly, wasn't forever the one talking about how they should be killing each other bc it'd be fun? i might be wrong there, but i vividly remember that.
my point being, this election is ultimately an exercise in futility bc they're all fucked regardless, this isn't "giving someone power" it's the federation sticking a pacifier in their mouth for soothing and telling them they'll sleep better. it'll end terribly either way, and no character is safe. it's a ridiculous plotline but a wildly interesting one, BECAUSE it's doomed to fail and yet everyone's doing the song and dance.
enjoy the content. laugh. analyse the character dynamics, motivations and plans. don't go out of your way to mischaracterise and demonise any character bc that not only goes against everything the qsmp stands for, but it also sucks the fun out of it for you and everyone else. no one is after anyone, no one is isolating anyone to be mean to them, these people are friends playing characters who are friends. have fun! my god!
#qsmp#q!forever#q!cellbit#q!baghera#q!badboyhalo#if any of this is wrong or misinformed pls let me know#i try to keep up with everyone as much as i can but alas i am but one person and there's only 24h in a day#so i am more than willing to be wrong#i just think it's wild what's been happening#and not in a good way tbh#i also don't think it's polite of me to go around in posts that are blatantly untrue going “um actually that's not correct” BUT BY GOD#THE URGE TO SCREAM “THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN” TO LITERALLY EVERYONE IS ALL CONSUMING

have you seen the squirrel and hedgehog dub brave soldiers (either the English or Spanish version) and if so, what are your thoughts on it?
Sigh, yes, and I only saw english dub/localisation, I don't know spanish so I didn't watch it, but if it's the same experience as english then I don't lose anything by not checking it out.
Honestly, I learned about SaH and Brave soldiers through Lost Media Wiki first, then I got additional information from Saberspark video and Sienduk. When SaH was still lacking subtitles on most episodes, I watched BS first in full.
My thoughts leaning towards negative. From what I can remember, and it is really tough thing to do, plot is a mess. Somehow, simple premise of "Oh no! We got invaded by weasels! We need to protect our village from them and be prepared for further attacks!" become hard to follow when characters just "appear" and "disappear" constantly. Juldarami, I think, is presented as three different squirrels (correct me if I'm wrong). And it's not unique problem to him, there's multiple instances of this and I don't get why people responsible for localisation chose to do that.
I can understand that they need to tone down some aspects of the original, most obvious, the violence (mice on spikes comes to mind first) and it's fine to remove graphic scenes. Same goes on message on self sacrifice, it's part of NK propaganda, I get it, not really good idea to force it on children audience. But everything else? Like, somebody thought, it will be good idea to make Geumsaegi and Juldarami brothers? It might be the case of misinterpretation of their relationship, but they also changed Mulmangcho and Oegwipali from brothers to... Acquaintances? Colleagues? "Friends"??? Huh????
Also, the Music..
The endlessly repeating opening theme. Enough said, OST just sucks.
On positives, some moments are pretty funny, but they are more of unintentional variety, Mike Pollock as Uncle Bear is great, Mulmangcho is renamed to Spitz (idk why I find it so funny, it's generic as hell, but weirdly charming? esp when others have relatively normal sounding names, and there's mouse named Spitz lol). And I think that it with positives I found.
SaH isn't perfect, it has flaws and there could be many different things done if writers could have more creative freedom, but BS in comparison is barely watchable trainwreck, it makes me appreciate original series more. Tbh, it's only interesting because it exists in the first place.
#ask#Sorry if I got some details wrong#But I don't want to watch BS again#I wish I could forget the opening theme..

hi, love <3 so, here's a random thought I'd like to share with you.
I always mention how much I would've loved to see The Wolf instead of The original as a TVD spin off, but, even though my though I still stand this statement, I think it would've not been the same.
Let me elaborate:
as I said many times before, your writing is the key of the whole story. Since you always narrates things such as inner thoughts, feelings and point of views, we also get an explanation about why a certain thing is happening ( i.e. the ending smut of chapter 30). However, no matter how talented the actor is, this thing never happens in TV shows, and it sadly leads to misinterpretation (either of the character or their action) and "randomness".
For example: Caroline is my babygirl, but I just know that if people would've *watched* instead of *reading* The Wolf, they would've hated her. Calling her a bad s/o, mother and friend because they would just judge her by her actions without knowing what's going on with the characters, misinterpreting her struggle for bitchness or something along those lines.
In conclusion, even though I would pay MILLIONS to just erase TO and bring TW to live action, I'm also happy to know that my favs are "covered" from the hate they have already received because the shows never portrait them and their issues in the right way.
that's it, just wanted to share this piece of mind that have been floating around my head for a while! lemme know what you think!
Under the cut because I got rambly. 😂
That makes sense. Obviously books/fics/any written content will always be much more dense than TV shows or movies because you get to be inside characters' heads, while on TV content you can only count on actors finding a way to translate these emotions, and some of them don't even have that capacity tbh.
Not to say that The Wolf would've been better than the actual show (I mean, I have my biased opinions, but that's just me 😂), but I think the writing on The Originals obviously contributed a lot to how bad the show was a lot of the time. It simply lacked substance, there were many times when things just straight out didn't make sense. At first glance it might seem like TW and TO are almost interchangeable, but they're really not, and this is a point I have been making over the years. It's not just about the obvious changes (Caroline instead of Hayley, which is a BIG change btw), but it's especially about the more subtle ones. The amount of thought I put into those scenes, characters, dialogues - it might not seem like it, but it's crazy. And so if you read the final product and you think 'wow! this makes sense! it should've been like this!' it's because there were loads of changes done to not only that part, but parts that came before, that suddenly, when put together, paint things under a completely different light.
The problem with TO for me is that it starts off from a place of complete nonsense, so everything that comes after that is building on top of a fragile foundation. I mean, they start off the show by retconning every single character to a certain degree. What can we expect after that? They were more interested in erasing everything that came before on The Vampire Diaries than in doing justice to the characters, so there's no way that could've ever been 100% solid. It had its moments, I can't say that it didn't, but it was mostly scattered scenes here and there, or ideas you could see that were good in theory (like the premise of S3), rather than entire story arcs within the show.
My point is that I don't think the lack of inner monologuing is the main problem with TO. There is a way to have compelling and profound writing even when you don't have narration to compose your scenes, and the fact some screenwriters are incapable of doing that is the reason why so many book to TV adaptations are so crappy. You have to be really inventive to make it work, and the crew on TO simply wasn't. But there were moments!
However, regarding Caroline and the things she does throughout the story, like going back to Mystic Falls in TW2 for instance, or when she leaves the compound in TW1. Honestly, even if that had been written by the best screenwriter in the world (obviously not me), and if Candice King had given an Oscar-worthy performance, people would still call her a bitch. 😂 There's a real edge of misogyny in how people judge female characters a lot more harshly than their male counterparts, especially when the things they do displease the male character, which was the case here. I got so many comments from people who were mad at Caroline because 'she should've just trusted Klaus, Klaus is a hybrid, he's the strongest, he knows better', completely disregarding the fact Klaus is basically a psychopath with trust and anger issues who was by no means a pillar of warmth and sanity a lot of the time. Caroline was, from start to finish, the most reasonable, stable person in that entire story, but there were many times when people were blaming her for things that were just not her fault. She was pregnant, alone, scared, trying to stay alive, to protect her child, and Klaus was at the peak of a downward spiral where he was listening to absolutely no one, but somehow Caroline was the one in the wrong for not trusting that he wouldn't act like a maniac. 😂
I'm not saying that is what you're saying, btw, I'm just saying Caroline would've been judged no matter what. But yes, she probably would've been very harshly criticized if this had been the show. Already she is! There's a lot of people who dislike her for how hard she was on Klaus, like he didn't deserve it. 😂
Having said all that 😂 I do give myself some credit for the fact people were feeling so much for Klaus in spite of everything lol He's very intense and dramatic in how he takes offense. If he thinks he's been wronged (and he thinks he's been wronged whenever someone doesn't take his side in a dispute, whatever that might be), he just goes all out, and he's merciless in how he judges the people around him, alwaus making himself out to be the victmized party. He might regret his actions later (usually because of that darned little thing called consequence), but never initially, and he's also terrible at apologies. So I wanted his POVs to be about how the whole world was against him, and how he knew what he was doing, and he couldn't trust anyone, etc etc, and people bought it. Personally, I was always on Caroline's side, but even though I know people were likely to side with Klaus anyway because that's the way it is, and people are biased towards him, I also think I might have manipulated them a little bit.
But I just reminded myself today that there is a very basic difference between canon and TW that means one could never replace the other which is that Caroline is a witch. 😂 That justifies her getting pregnant, but then it changes her entire backstory.
I hope my response didn't come out as though I'm being harsh or anything. Your pondering just got me thinking, and that's actually something I've thought about a lot throughout the years because I have certainly gotten many comments like what you said. Thanks very much for sharing! I really love reading that kind of thing. ❤️
#yokan answers#feat-peach#i keep forgetting caroline used to be a witch#even though that's going to play a huge part in tw4 lol

If you have the spoons to watch it, I think you’d really enjoy this retrospective about Mob Psycho 100.
https://youtu.be/kfxhrOYAXqs
It’s like an hour long by Mother’s Basement, but it’s really good and goes over the themes and ideas of the series.
Thank you!! I finally had the energy to watch this the other day and I really enjoyed it! (I also really like the videos he did about the S1 and S2 openings, which were really interesting to me as someone who knows very little about animation!) I especially liked some of the stuff he talked about with Claw, like going into more depth about the proverb their name comes from and how Touichirou is wildly misinterpreting it.
Also. I want that man's Dimple shirt.
However! I was really excited to hear his thoughts on the structure of the show (at the beginning of that segment when he talked about it having a "chiastic ring structure" I gasped aloud in delight because I am a predictable nerd), but I feel like that's one thing I disagree with him on. Conceptually he's right, but his actual breakdown of the arcs and structures suffers because he needed to create something that would make a nice graphic (thus ignoring or glossing over a lot of complexity), he incorporates various flashbacks into "arc 1" instead of actually engaging with the structure of the show as written, and also he, like many people, doesn't seem to understand the importance of the aliens arc (it's not even mentioned in his structure graphic!! A failing!). The structure talk/graphic starts at about 20:37 in the video if you want to see what I'm talking about.
I might make a proper post on it at some point but my very basic thoughts on the chiastic structure are:
Club Recruitment (I don't think we have a name for this one specifically bc it's only one episode but it sets up Literally The Entire Show so) mirrors Aliens/Telepathy Arc
Lol Cult and Black Vinegar mirror Divine Tree
Big Cleanup and 7th Division mirror World Domination (Big Cleanup is a little messy and I feel like fits less neatly into this than most other arcs; parts of it are more closely tied to Divine Tree's themes of getting carried away, but the Ritsu and Shou plot during World Domination is very much in dialogue with Ritsu's Big Cleanup plot)
And the middle of the ring is the back-to-back mirrors of Mogami Arc and Separation Arc
Now, Confession is specifically outside of the ring composition; it's a synthesis of a bunch of important themes and character arcs that it revisits in order to provide resolution. Tbh it deserves a structural breakdown of its own; it has so much going on and it's SO GOOD.
Also obviously there is a lot more going on than the ring structure because the themes are very consistent and the parallels are EVERYWHERE; I have yelled at length about the Mogami/Divine Tree parallels and tbh you could probably do the same with any combo of arcs. But I Just Think Chiasmus Is Neat.

tumblr keeps exposing me cuz every time i get a notification it says “your crush is at it again” “mind-blowing post from your crush. they’re a favorite of yours, we’ve noticed ❤️”
and i be like WHO tf IS MY CRUSH??? i don’t even have a crush, and i click and it’s you😐
is me drunk anon.
i’m not sure if you talked about this before. you may have, and i have a feeling you did. i just don’t remember, but what are your hcs/theories for Ada’s back story and how she became a merc? (maybe you might want to do them FAQ shit lmao, hehe just a suggestion because i understand it can quiet get a bit tiring answering repetitive questions)
let’s get very deep with this. let’s not glide the surface of the water. i do believe that she started at a very young age. maybe around 9 or 10. and for this whole mercenary thing to work? there is no way she went to public school. was Ada born in China then gained US citizenship, or born in the US? i hc Ada’s parents as immigrants FOR SURE. maybe her family came to the US to escape economic hardships in China? maybe her parents are US citizens but her grandparents are immigrants? i’m only saying this because i believe it’s canon information that Ada is Chinese-American (and honestly i don’t remember seeing where Vietnamese came from), so she can’t be Australian or Canadian lmao
i would go on but this question is for u and not for me lol
k bye (YOU DRINK WATER too FAWK 🫵😤 and eat a something. u need reminding too 🖐️😌)
"they're a favourite of yours," YOU HAVE OTHER FAVOURITES????? >:((((((
im jks dfjkbfdjkssdjkfbskf
HIHIii
sdjkfjskfjksbfs honestly i have answered lots of things and i keep forgetting to link them to my masterlist and im also lazy
OKAYOKAOKAYOKAY so i think the "Ada is Chinese/American" has been a huge misinterpretation based on that one "Ada Wong facts" vid from ink ribbon? the video states that she's Chinese-American and for some reason I think people interpreted that as she's half Chinese / Half white. (i've always interpreted it as just she is Chinese AND lives in America and has grown up partially in America.
also for some reason it seems like Ada (to me) is the only fully asian character because jill has always supposed to be half japanese and they just COMPLETELY got rid of that imo. i refuse to acknowledge that she's half japanese considering they just don't do anything alluding to the fact that she is. she's always been modelled after white models too.
And also a lot of sites including capcom just state that's Ada's "of Chinese descent" and don't specify anything else.
ALSO capcom FUCKED UP REAL BAD IMO by modeling her with a WHITE PERSON'S FACE. ada, a chinese woman, should've NEVER been modelled after a white person. i know that for a bit of damnation? courtenay taylor stated that they modelled it a bit after her because of her face/voice???? but i don't know if it was confirmed, it was just from an interview and she wasn't even sure herself
i think because we have no idea for her backstory and there's no canon backstory there's so much to go on for DDDD: i just have so many thoughts about what kind of life she could've had.
god i just reread this and im rambling a lot just a lot of YAPPING
okay uh
i don't really think she was born in the states tbh. i do think her parents were immigrants or at least she had something that made her go to the states. i like the idea of her having to at least grow up a bit in the states (particularly in her teens) and that's also why i think she doesn't have an accent.
also YEAH i do know a lot of people who have come over from china or some part of asia and they RARELY lose their accent if they come over in their 20s. (most people have defined vocab at this point and unless they actively try to lose their accent or change their vocab, it tends to stay kinda the same. their english will get better, but i've also known people that lost a lot of their english after leaving uni for example) i've only see people lose their accent/never develop one if they have lived in america for 15+ years or grew up for a lot of their childhood/teen years
i know that's confirmation bias lol but considering ada's always had perfect american english, i (personally) can not headcanon that she moved into the states in her 20s. i think that she could've been in the states by the time she's like 7-11.
i'm not a huge headcanon-er of ada having siblings (particularly younger siblings.) also it being the 70s, (if her family complied with the law) she should not/would not have younger siblings (look up "one child law" if you're confused) i can see her having a younger friend that she "wanted as a sister"
i can maybe see ada having an older sibling, but i also hc that her family (similarly to leon and the rest of the re cast lol) have all lost their families in their entirety. (also i KNOW that the "leon lost his entire family" thing hasn't ever really been confirmed, it's just heavily headcanoned)
also
ada is not a chinese name. WONG is, but ada isn't. i've struggled with this and trying to find a reason for this lol other than it just being a fake name. iirc ada is a german name (from it's origins)
NYWAYS SORRY FOR YAPPING
THAT'S MY SECRET, I'M ALWAYS DRINKING WATER
hehe i go eat something sweet hehe :3

Pia! I need some advice. There's a writer on ao3 whose fics I really like (well, 'love' would probably be a better word) but I've just found out they are a TERF 😭
I had no idea because they don't post anything personal or political on their main tumblr and they don't write fics that reflect these views but I found their side blog and its full of terf and redfem stuff
Now I'm feeling guilty for enjoying their work and also sad because a part of me just wants to keep reading their works despite this because they really are a good writer and have kept their personal views out of their stories but...... UGGHHHHH TERF 😭😭😭
What should I do? Should I stop reading? Should I block them? Or should I separate the artist from the art and just enjoy the fics?
I am not cis btw so I feel really selfish for just wanting to ignore that stuff and keep reading.
Hi anon,
I'm sorry you've found yourself in this situation. There's no point feeling guilty about something that you could never have possibly known until this moment, though I understand that the guilt still happens, it's not like you can be expected to know this stuff when you're just trying to enjoy fics on the internet, y'know? The main thing is you know now. Guilt is a good feeling for getting us to stop and pay attention, and now you're doing that.
As for what happens next, I can't really answer this for you, but I can talk around a few points which might be worth considering re: continuing to read the fic/s or not.
Separating the 'artist from the art' is almost always hugely misinterpreted, and it often doesn't mean 'pretend the artist doesn't matter so I can keep enjoying their content.' Ultimately you have to decide for yourself what you will or won't accept, and that will be down to your personal ethics or values, and how you express those ethics or values.
If my favourite fanfic author was suddenly revealed to be a TERF (unlikely as they're trans, but y'know, it could happen), I personally couldn't enjoy their writing anymore. I wouldn't be able to escape into their stories or characters, knowing the person who wrote this thing I love doesn't believe in my right to exist as I am, and wants to constantly debate my human rights. I can't suspend my disbelief that much.
But then, on the other hand, I can still watch the films of Harvey Weinstein, a horrible fucking human being and scum on earth, and justify this by knowing that many of the people who made that film are not horrible fucking human beings and he is not the only person to consider. Some people would disagree with my choice. Others will understand.
That's me, but everyone is different on matters like that, and so then it comes down to how you show support. If you continue to read this author but never give them a platform, never like their fic, comment on the chapters, interact with them in any way, rec it to another person (not without 'you should also know they're a rabid transphobe'), be a 'silent consumer' etc. and consider this the way that you demonstrate that you don't support this person's beliefs/views, that's also valid. You still express your values by lending nothing to this person that they can then benefit from. This is how some trans people still consume the works of JKR - making sure she never sees a single cent or benefit under the proud flag of piracy - for example. There are going to be other trans people who disapprove of this, or don't like this, who even make good arguments against it, and tbh, I'm on the fence about it myself, I can just understand why people come to this place with it.
Some of those expressions of our values can be problematic - paying for the work of someone who is transphobic (which you're obviously not doing in the case of fic) directly benefits a transphobe who is publicly transphobic. That's just...straight up harmful. That doesn't really express your values. In fact it may express opposite values. Reccing the fics of this author for example, knowing other trans readers might find the side blog one day and feel deeply wounded and betrayed, expresses opposite values - this would be problematic.
You might be someone who sends them a message anonymously or similar, to let them know that their views are hurtful/hateful and ask how they feel knowing that trans people are reading their stories, and see if they respond to you. Maybe they've never thought about it before. But you don't owe them that kind of labour. You may also want to consider naming/shaming them, to at least do fellow folks in your community the courtesy of avoiding a transphobe. The fact that you've gone out of your way to protect their identity even in this anon, is not something you owe them.
There are going to be different ways you make peace with this situation anon, and don't be surprised if they change over time, depending on how you feel about it. People can only tell you what they would do based on their values, and you must sit down with your own values and decide which actions support your values, and which go against them. We don't all express these things in exactly the same way. As long as you're not expressing harmful or opposite values, you're generally going to be okay, and there is sometimes room in that to still enjoy the fic, if that is something you're able to do.
(Please see the tags since I address this in a bit more detail - although the tl;dr there is - have you considered that instead of continuing to be entertained by the works of a transphobe, maybe if you stopped reading them, you'd find someone you liked just as much, if not more, who will replace them? Sometimes the harm we do is simply in giving our time and energy to someone who wishes we didn't exist, and is actively protesting against our existence - when we could look for others to entertain us who don't expect horrible ethical quandaries from us just to enjoy what they're creating).
(Also, for the record re: other folks reading (I kind of wish I hadn't been forced to respond to this publicly lmao and I'm still in two minds re: whether I'll keep it up), I'm also trans, so I feel like I can talk about the grey area more in this specific issue. I am not advising or advocating for example that white people actively read and engage in the fanfiction of known racists. This is very much - I am talking about this one thing, from a trans person to a trans person, about transphobia in the community and in the works of creators we might enjoy - and I very much want to stay focused on that).
#asks and answers#cw terf#cw radfem#cw transphobia#(not from OP just what we're talking about)#I will say anon#have you considered that you experimented with not reading this author for a couple of months#you might find other authors you enjoy just as much#if not more?#this won't be the last fic author whose stories you enjoy#and giving space to this author takes space away from the other authors#that you could be supporting#there's just some food for thought there#the time you spend on a bigot's creativity#can be spent elsewhere#so it's then up to you to decide how vital these stories are in your life#if they're the kind of stories that keep you from harming yourself or keep you out of the pit of the despair#keep reading them#if they're just entertaining#mmmmhhhh#there's just a lot of stuff to think about around it anon!#administrator Gwyn wants this in the queue

Just adding to the JKR and gay Dumbledore discussion; another thing to remember is that when JKR began writing the books, Section 28 was still in effect and she likely would have had trouble with putting in nondeniable homosexuality in her books. and yet, as the other anon said, she definitely was laying out the backstory even if she thought she'd never been able to show it beyond coding. In addition, the tabloid reporter who wrote about Dumbledore in the final book, the way she wrote about him, Grindelwald (evil wizard boyfriend), and Harry, it was in the very British way of never saying it outright, but insinuating enough to get the point across while still maintaining plausible deniability to get around British libel laws. To a Briton, it would be far more obvious that the Wizard Tabloid was trying to call Dumbles a flaming q*eer who maybe never should be trusted around young schoolboys (sorry for the language, but that was the sentiment in story). American Tabloids don't have the subtlety, so this might not have pinged anything in American readers. Or came across far more subtly. She also didn't bring up the fact that Dumbledore was gay unprompted for press. She was at a Q&A session in 2007, and a fan asked if Dumbledore ever had any girlfriends or romances [there were a few Dumbledore/McGonagall shippers back then, so the fan may have been trying to ask about that]. She replied, very casually, that well he was gay so no girlfriends but he did have a romance (with Grindelwald). The crowd went bananas, and she seemed surprised, said she would have said something earlier if she thought people cared and would be this happy about it. The scriptwriter for the movies did know, as she once had to tell him to cut a scene where Dumbledore starts talking about a girl he liked in school. She apparently had elaborate backstories for all the main teachers in school, but never found a way to make any of them relevant (aside from Snape's) to the story as it's told from Harry's POV, and most kids don't really give a toss about their teachers personal lives. But she always wrote Dumbledore in a way she thought was coded enough that older readers would pick up on it. But she never tried to toot her own horn, with like LOOK AT MY GAY REPRESENTATION!! LOOK AT HOW BRAVE I WAS! PRAISE ME!!! or anything. She wasn't trying to get praise for gay rep without actually having it be gay, like some people...
I guess now is the time to admit that I assumed the evil boyfriend was Voldemort 💀 I was just like “yeah that makes sense” and I understand if the HP fans want to point and laugh at me
A few people have pointed out the existence of Section 28 in both discussions of HP and GO, and it’s incredibly important context. (Especially when comparing how the two books went about it…one still being respectful to gay fans, and the other being like “okay section 28, you don’t want us promoting homosexuality? We’ll take it a step further and make a joke about burning f slurs, you’re welcome”)
Tbh I’m surprised that the Anti-JKR crowd hasn’t called out the inclusion of that tabloid…it seems like the perfect thing for them to misinterpret and bash her for.
From everything I’m hearing about this, it seems like she’s been very respectful and casual about the whole thing. To me, it seems like she had an idea about her character that she legally couldn’t put into the books, and was honest about it when asked. And she seems to understand that it’s not explicit representation that deserves praise, otherwise when she was accused of being anti-LGBT she’d be all “oh but Dumbledore is gay and he’s amazing representation!”. Meanwhile Neil expects praise for being all “A/C are literally anything you want them to be except gay”
Dumbledore aside, I have a lot of respect for JKR’s support of LGB people from what I’ve seen of her tweets. She’s always one of the first to speak up for lesbians when the TQ+ are being lesbophobic, which I think is really important given her large platform. I have no doubt in my mind that she’s an ally, so it doesn’t surprise me that she handled a gay character so well.
It’s so fascinating that a woman can be this respectful regarding a gay character and receive so much backlash…but a man can be Neil Straightman and have the entire internet kissing his ass. And it’s funny that JKR has lost her belief in gender because of how she’s been treated due to her sex…yet Neil’s sex benefits him so much, which allows him to deny the importance of sex.

I read your last post (and all the previous ones), but I haven’t had the energy to comment on it lately. I’m a bit drowsy rn but I would like to chat about headcanons and such.
See, I’ve always been a person who tries to adhere to canon as much as possible in my own writing/art/etc. I try not to stray too far for fear of misinterpreting the characters or misrepresenting them.
But then I entered the death note fandom. You’re totally right with comparing the different canons to multiverses with their own rulesets. There’s so much out there to read, watch, etc. And everyone has different opinions on what’s “more” canon. I would take it one step further and say that anyone’s perception of the story is going to be slightly different from another’s, because that’s how we see things. And people in fandom make art and such based on their perceptions of the characters, which often includes projecting headcanons onto them. For better or worse.
Tbh, I dunno if I really got the idea of a “comfort character” until L and Near. There’s just so much about them that I relate to, especially Near. I may never solve a serial murder case, but I do solve problems by sitting on the floor and playing with toys. I find myself staring dead-eyed at people or at screens when I’m thinking. My point is that I find comfort in these characters, and wonder what they might do if scared, or stressed, or alone. Naturally, headcanons arise, based on my interpretation and my outlook on the world. The important thing is, I’m not Ohba or Obata. If I write these characters, I’m naturally going to insert little pieces of myself in the characters, whether I know it or not. And so will you, and anyone who writes them.
When you wrote your headcanons about L vs Ryuzaki, I found myself nodding along because I related to those. As a neurodivergent person myself, I sometimes feel like I subconsciously act differently in the presence of others out of a need to keep an “image” that others have built of me, even if it’s not entirely positive. That’s how I interpreted your post about L. I understand, however, why the other anon interpreted the post as ableist. Maybe it came off as you “explaining away” L’s habits, like some attempt to make the character more “palatable”. I don’t wanna put words in your or the anon’s mouths though, so I’m not gonna speculate.
I guess I just wanted to write this to say- it’s okay that you have headcanons and I promise you, I love reading them! Sometimes people interpret them poorly, and sometimes we need to reflect on why we have the headcanons we do about characters. I really do think you had good intentions though.
I’m not sure how to wrap this up, but I genuinely hope you’re doing well, Lei. Feel free to delete this ask after you’ve read it, if you like. I just thought I’d try to give an opinion.
-🎲 (I hope this ask is coherent and tumblr doesn’t eat it.)
I wanna share this because you genuinely just made my day, 🎲 anon. and also to elaborate more. So, anyone with doubts on my intentions, please read.
I did admit and I will say again that I did not approach L vs Ryuzaki in the best way and I did not think it through. But my intention was NOT to explain L's traits away and make them more "palatable." I didn't realise I needed to include this in the description of the original post, but I love him so much for his "weirdness" and being "unpalatable" because that's what society calls me when I don't mask. Like L, I sit in weird ways, and speak in monotone, and I play a lot with mouth and fingers, and I dead stare at people and I just. I see a lot of myself in him.
And the things that I've always felt bad about myself I love seeing in/headcanoning on L. To share a personal story, I stare at people without blinking for several minutes, and when I was entering my teen years I got called rude, weird and creepy for it - and around that time I watched Death Note and I immediately clicked with L (for many reasons but that's the one I can give a specific example why for). I went "L stares like me, and people call him weird, but I can see he's not bad, he's really cool - maybe I'm not bad either".
That got into a bit of a rant sorry 😭 again. obviously I didn't intend to hurt anyone. but again, I did not approach it in the best way. I should also say, because I didn't address it properly in my original answer: I wasn't trying to elaborate on the Ryuzaki theory. I was trying to share my own headcanons on how L expresses MORE of himself, NOT a completely different self, when alone.
I do think he sleeps at least once a day (if only for a short time). I do think he eats things other than sweets (especially steak. I throw my anemia onto him and with it comes STRONG cravings for rare meat). I do think he sits in ADDITIONAL ways to the 40% smarter. but I DON'T think that those traits are all 100% fake completely for show.
anyway. again. seeing this made me feel better. I'm not sure if the anon who sent the ableist thing was a follower, but it's nice to know that people I've been interacting with can tell I didn't have malicious intent. I felt pretty down after getting it, I felt so bad about writing something that could be interpreted like that - maybe that could only be interpreted like that - and I kind of avoided Tumblr a bit after. even posting of a and b or any of my recent "lei chats," I've felt so anxious that I'm going to be misinterpreted. It's the worst feeling. In real life people assume I'm being rude/malicious all the time when I'm being genuine/don't have that intent. Online, in the most part, I found a space where people assume the opposite. So it hurt.
AGAIN I RANTED AND IT GOT A BIT PERSONAL I'M SO SORRY. but thank you very much 🎲 anon. you made me smile <3
#i really appreciate this. thank you. and i hope i specified enough about what I meant with the post#lei chats#🎲 anon

tbh I feel bad for jojo and the other writers cuz they have to constantly explain the most simple scenes to people and have to deal with the story they wanted to tell being misinterpreted all the damn time. and it's not even their fault it's just these people literally have zero comprehension skills and also don't wanna see anything besides their fave characters that they love to baby. anyway sorry for this rant I'm just really fed up right now.
me too!! don't apologize!!!
i try to never post on twitter these days but i think i'm going to start @'ing p'den and p'jojo (i haven't seen p'best on twitter? i might be just missing him, but if he isn't it's probably for the best lol) every week to tell them how good of a job they've done, because they really are phenomenal writers. there are so many delightfully surprising elements i wouldn't have ever expected from a bl, which is probably why so many (idiots) are struggling to understand or straight up willfully misunderstanding the material. while the characters are complex, the story isn't all that complicated (which in this case is a good thing!), but since it's not exactly what they wanted (bad writing lol) they reject it. as a writer, i know that must be incredibly painful and disheartening for them. they tried something new and some "fans" can't handle it. i hope it doesn't lead to backlash that makes it harder for more groundbreaking works from gay writers and directors. because i definitely want more, not just a screaming crying sexy boy show but honest storytelling, new ideas, and real intimacy.
(side-note: i do have a hard time believing that all this shit has nothing to do with homophobia... at least just a little bit....🤔😒)
we joke about brainrot around here, but for some people in this fandom it feels literal. if they're this unsatisfied with the series, i wish they'd just leave instead of making it everyone else's, and especially the writers', problem.
i just wanna give them a big ol' hug!!!!!! they're very talented!! they deserve praise, not having to explain the most basic of concepts!!! hugs for everyone who sees this drama for what it actually is!! you too, anon!
#so far the only issue i've had with the writing is how poor their understanding of how weed works lmao#and even then there being so many cookies and joints could be direction idk#anonymous#asked and answered#ofs liveblog#i did go @ p'jojo p'den and forcebook before posting this#they need to know how much i/we love them😭

Heya :) For the fic ask, S, T, and maybe K (if you're ok with answering that)
Hiii
S. Any fandom tropes you can't resist? Idk if this is necessarily a "fandom trope" but having x character doing x mundane activity amuses me so much. Even if absolutely nothing interesting or noteworthy happens. I might have mentioned this in passing before, but I am always so tempted to write Edd just shopping for groceries or something. Maybe if I can find a way to make it interesting it will actually come to fruition. Who knows. I also really like it when storylines and events from canon are referenced. ESPECIALLY when they are expanded upon through introducing how a character feels/felt about said events, or offering another perspective to it. Also improving upon things that may have been rushed or not depicted well in-canon. I love seeing authors interpretations of that.
T. Any fandom tropes you can't stand? When canon, aka the basic foundations of the original story's plot-line and themes, is not respected. This does not go to say I hate ANY divergence from canon. I love seeing diverse and interpretive head-canons for characters. For a show like EEnE there is a lot of details that are left unsaid because it is not the central focus or intentionally left vague. It is really cool to see the ways other people in the fandom interpret that. Also these characters are kids and still figuring themselves out, so really you can make an argument for anything regarding their choices as they grow older. What really tends to get on my nerves is when it feels like an author does not RESPECT the canon they are writing. This can come from not knowing the source material they are tackling, and misinterpreting characters in a way that is fulfills what the writer WANTS to see in a character rather than what they actually are like. Basically, if you can take a character and replace them with someone else and the story still works, I don't think it is that good a fanfic.
K. What's the angstiest idea you ever come up with? Omg...I'm not quite sure tbh. Even though I do tend to lean on the "angstier" side with my interpretations of the characters, I still don't think they are the "angstiest" things written about these guys. I guess something that could be considered angsty is that when Edd and Eddy do realize they have feelings for each other and try to have a relationship that reflects that, it is very rocky. Mostly a result out of them being inexperienced teens, as well as having LOTS of emotional issues that have not been adequately attended to. I feel like there would be a good degree of unhealthy codependence stemming from both sides. On the upside, I definitely like to have them get better at figuring that stuff out when they're a bit older : ) they just need some time.
#thank youuu#asks#headcanons#I hope what I said for T made sense if you need me to explain it in more detail I would be glad to#I kind of wanted to be vague since it is an issue I don't just have with some older works in the eene fandom#but a lot of other ones I've indulged in as well

I'll hang with you, friend! Have a few of these to chew on:
FMK, Jamie edition: Henry Creel, Jace Wayland, and whatever his Twilight character is (haven't seen Twilight lol)
Would you rather spend a year in the Stranger Things universe or a year in the Twilight universe? assuming that you're human, but have a reasonable degree of possibility to get powers somehow (so like... if you want to be a vampire, you could try to get converted but they might also just kill you)
You're visited by the writer genie, but they'll only grant one wish. Which do you pick?
1. You're able to transcribe the story exactly as it is in your brain, but motivation is just as it is now (so you'll probably end up with writer's block at some point)
2. You never get writer's block again, but that means you get intensely motivated to write at exactly the wrong time (i.e., in class, about to go to bed, etc.)
3. You get wide, positive reception for everything you post and comments on every fic, but some people BADLY misinterpret your characters and you literally can't do anything about that
Favorite things: your writing style is incredible, and you're not afraid to add genuine darkness to your storylines. You also stay really true to Henry's character and make it clear that he's still a villain, but you're able to implement these moments where we start to care about him all the same. It's really impressive, and makes for an addictive story! And even outside your writing, you're a really lovely person and I'm glad we've struck up a friendship here
Tiny vent: I have one fic that I'm honestly really proud of (the characters are unique and dynamic, there's an interesting plot, the writing is some of my better prose), but it has gotten ZERO attention whatsoever. I realize it's because it's written in a very small and underappreciated fandom, and OC x canon fics aren't always the most widely-received anyway, but I really wish people would give it a chance because I really think they'd enjoy it if they did. The worst part is that I can see a few people have bookmarked or subscribed to it, but I haven't gotten a single comment (not even one of those "this is great!" or "extra kudos" or whatever). I'm trying not to let it kill my motivation because I really do like this story, but it's starting to make me sad :/
Thanks for "hanging out with me," bestie lol. Luckily my isolation window for Miss Rona is over and I'm feeling better 😷. Anyways, let's see what we have here...
FMK - Henry Creel, Jace Wayland, Caius Volturi...
Bestie you're killing me here. You're actually killing me. It changes depending on my mood, of course, but if I had to pick the most constant idea... F Henry, Marry Caius, Kill Jace
I'm sorry
Would you rather - Spend a year in the Stranger Things universe or spend a year in the Twilight universe, both with a reasonable chance of gaining powers...
Hmm... that's a good question. Again, this very much depends on my mood, but I might have to go with the Stranger Things universe. I would honestly need an essay to explain why that would ultimately be like many of my college essays: four pages of nothing. Some days I think living in the twilight universe would be fun, but right now the Stranger Things universe seems like the "safer" option, relatively speaking.
A Visit From the Writer Genie - It's between 1 and 2, but I think I'll go with 1 becaus 2 tbh is not that different to how I operate now. I do most of my writing at like, 1 AM (as my roommate could likely vouch for) and I have done writing during class. But I'd love to just implant text right to the page, that'd be wonderful.
Favorite Thing - Bestie, your comments are some of the best things I have gotten, and it really means a lot that you enjoy those facets of my writing. I like to say that it's my blessing-and-a-curse empathy that lets me get characterizations right because I find that I'm very good at reading and interpreting characters, even for little shitpost things. And I, too, am very glad we struck up such a lovely friendship. I love making friends in my little Tumblr-sphere :)
Vent Reply - Aww, I'm sorry! Low engagement is the worst when you're very proud of what you've written. That by no means diminishes your worth as a writer, though. I bet it's a really amazing fic! In fact, I'll add it to my list. It's the least I can do.
Thanks for "hanging out" with me lol. It's been an incredibly hard few days, so it really means a lot that you decided to pop in :3

GET TO KNOW YOUR ADMIN !!
name — Chai / KC
pronouns — She/They
preferred comms — I am Notoriously bad at IMing ppl but discord is probs the best way. you just might have to remind me to respond lmao
name of muse — So many
experience in RP — like 15 years?? first started on gaiaonline when i was in middle school, moved to tumblr freshman year of college
best experiences — I've met so many great people through the years and have had so much fun with it, but I think my favorite thing is building character relationships. Like I love developing my character alongside others and I still carry a lot of the influences from people I've written with in the past
pet peeves/dealbreakers — The needless policy/call out posts of other peoples blogs. Like unless someone is like actively harming others, I Cannot be bothered. Like there's so much room for misinterpretation on the internet and just general miscommunication. We all have to do what makes us comfortable and that's important, but at the end of the day if you don't like someone content, just block and move on
muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — Hahaha i do tend to like angst and hurt->comfort stuff. I'm also a sucker for AUs
plot or memes — I like both for different reasons. Memes are a great way to start scenarios that you might not have otherwise thought of and can be a great icebreaker. Plotting is great when you have a general idea and I like plotting the beginning of rps so we have a good foundation and then kind of going with the flow. Sometimes, we end up plotting too much 'down the line' stuff and it can kinda ruin the flow, like too focused on the destination that you forget to enjoy the journey
long or short replies — I tend toward longer replies, I find it's easy to get carried away. but also the more you write, the easier it is for your partner to have something to respond to. To me, it's more challenging to write one liners and single paragraphs then it is multi
best time to write — I usually have an easier time focusing late at night
are you like your muse?: tbh i dont think I'm like any of my muses. like i would not make a fun character to write as lmao

I am watching rings of power and tbh it doesn't really have a lord of the rings feel. Like what I like about lord of the rings is how cohesive the narrative is despite having many different characters. You actually avoid a lot of the interpersonal drama that's so common in other high fantasy shows. The personal relationships are important but it's more about playing into the larger plot. Like Beren and Luthien's love is epic and all-consuming but it's more about how one of the silmarillion gets returned to the Elves than it is about the ins and outs of their relationships.
So far what I'm seeing is just a lot of drama and no larger purpose. I also kind of hate how they're interpreting the hobbits. Why are they so dirty? Like I get they're supposed to be similar to early celtic cultures, but why are they so dirty? Could they not be Celtic and clean?
Also it feels like someone grossly misinterpreted the Silmarillion. The Elves never saw Valinor as home, it was never meant to be their home. Their home was Middle Earth. And they didn't go to Middle Earth to avenge the trees, they went to Middle Earth because they believed the Valar had denied them their true home. This might seem small but it is literally the whole point of the Silmarillion. The idea of going back to Valinor is not something any of the elves would've seen as necessary. I don't think it's clear they even go back to Valinor after Lord of the Rings, I thought they went to like an island that was near Valinor but not quite there. (I haven't read that part since middle school so I might be wrong).
Anyway my point is, I'm struggling with this series. It feels like they could've just made a high fantasy show and called it anything else without making it Lord of the Rings. But we'll see as it goes on.
