The sanitization in Veilguard did not only erase a lot of the things which we were told about in the three previous games, like the major issue of slavery in Tevinter or the dark side of the Crows. I believe it also prevented the elements which were developed in this game from being more fleshed out. Take the Mourn Watch and more largely the cultural practises surrouding death in Nevarra for example. We know that for Nevarrans burning a body is shocking for multiples reasons. But do they treat the remains of their people differently depending on who they were? There are some hints which indicate that the bodies of nobles are given special honors. Remembering how much elves are discriminated, do they also make differences between humans and city elves for example? Also don't the Nevarran elves, dwarves and qunari have some other cultural practises of their own on the side? How do Nevarran surface dwarves feel about the knowledge that they will (probably) be respected in their deaths, when the dwarves of Orzammar keep telling them that they are not worth being remembered because they will never be connected to the Stone?

I'm really sorry to bother you with this, and please feel free not to respond if you don't want to, but I just wanted to bent for a bit as a Bangel shipper and you're my favorite Bangel shipper on this site.

I know the Buffy fandom (and fandoms in general tbh) have always been a little nutty, but I've noticed this growing trend, especially on Twitter, of people bending over backward to try to make Bangel appear as this super dirty and problematic ship that no one should be allowed to like. People can't dislike Bangel without taking their entire relationship out of context (with takes such as "Angel manipulated Buffy"), and every time I see an account accusing Bangel of being ped0philia or gr00ming, I'd go into their profile and surprise! It's a Sp*ffy shipper.

So Bangel is wrong and the people shipping them are fucked up, despite being the common Vampire x Human trope that's existed for years, but Sp*ffy is fine? Don't get me wrong, if people love Sp*ffy, that's their right and their own business. I don't think we should put labels on online strangers based on their fictional tastes. BUT it's the hypocrisy I can't stand. How can you ship something with a full attempted r*pe scene and then accuse fans of another ship of promoting dangerous abusive dynamics? I just don't get it.

I can't even tweet "I love Bangel" without some Sp*ffy finding my tweet and telling me how wrong I am lol

I understand your frustration. When I first entered the fandom, I was shocked by it all. Basically, everything you just said and more. The show did not age the way it should have, and the fandom is pretty much unrecognizable compared to what it was when the show aired. Like, I have conversed with many OG fans who watched the show as it was airing (literally last week I had such a fun discussion with someone who came into my work and I wanted to post about it here but I forgot to lol) and they don't feel the same way as these newer fans do.

It sucks, it really does, but it's not worth getting upset about. Again, I shared the same sentiment as you do currently. I was seriously like wtf is going on I hate it here so I will go to secret gardens in my mind etc

It's really hard to just shake it off, but that is what I do. Because the show validates me and does all the work for me. I don't have to twist the narrative, write think pieces, bully/threaten literal actors of the show, etc. But it took me some time to get to this place and I hope you can, too, but I support you and your journey so if you want to vent, I am here!

At this point I am 2 minutes away from asking all of 911twt to attend a media literacy and critical thinking webinar or something because the takes I've seen are mindblowingly wrong.

At some point folks have gone from watching a TV show through a queer lens because they relate to these characters and want to find elements of their own lives represented in fiction (something completely normal that queer people have been doing for literal centuries) to watching it through a queer lens to hunt for proof that their interpretation is "correct" and (in this case) buddie canon is definitely happening.

imo it's even weirder to do this kind of thing with interviews, but like i've said before, i'm also very tired of people taking this angle with buck's coming out scenes (+ bucktommy scenes in general).

I finally got to play the Duviri Paradox and, aside from my conflicted feelings on the quest itself, is it me or it just doesn't make sense to make it available to new players?

Like, I get that it doesn't necessarily ruin the main warframe quest experience because you can reach The New War and having them be like "ohh, wait, I see!", but.

I don't know, in between Teshin and everything I think that playing it last, after The New War (and the Zariman), isn't the payoff of seeing the Drifterer and how they learned about the Tenno much better?
