i find it really hurtful how hateful and disdainful you are towards fans of the lotr movies meanwhile you have an icon and header from the movies

the books are amazing and i understand the movies aren't perfect, but they tried and were still so so good and its okay for people to find joy in them

First, I apologize for the hurt I've caused you, anon. I've never intended to hurt people with my posts, and I'm sorry that something I've said has. I confess, though, that I'm a bit baffled by this ask. I have no problem with people enjoying the films and have never said otherwise. I certainly don't hate fans of the films. I count myself as a fan of them.

My gripes with the films lie with the films and PJ. If you don't want to see my criticisms of the films, you're welcome to unfollow/block me. Please curate your fandom experience into something that's enjoyable for you. And for anyone else who doesn't want to see criticism of the films, I tag all critical posts with the "#films crit" tag so that people can blacklist it if they don't want to see it.

I'll freely admit that I dislike how some of the films' changes have influenced the fandom and how the film characterizations are so prevalent in the fandom (and wish that that were otherwise)—lessening Frodo's and Faramir's inner strength, removing Eowyn's struggle with despair and desire for death, and turning Merry into comic relief, especially—and I make no bones about preferring book interpretations. I've listed that on my about page so that people know what to expect when they follow me. However, I've never intended to shame or hate on fans of the films, and I'm sorry that something I've said has had that effect.

As I said above, I enjoy the films myself—the visuals, the soundtracks, the costumes, the acting, the love that went into making them—and I've posted quite a bit about that. I wouldn't use film characters/scenes for my icon and mobile header, nor would I create or reblog as many edits/gifsets as I have, if I hated the films and their fans.

I love and criticize the films equally. You'll find both opinions on my blog, but if you don't want to see the latter, again, please unfollow/block me if my blog doesn't suit your fandom preferences.

Are you a graphic designer for a career?

Like do you use all of these skills in real life or did you just randomly learn one day.

Oh no, I'm no graphic designer. I've recently begun working with more designers though and not only do they tend to be lovely people but it's a very cool profession. I think I'd never stop feeling like an impostor if I were to switch careers but it's not tooooo far from what I'm doing anyway so hey, you never know.

To answer the second half, any general graphic design skills I have I mostly use for giffing and very rarely - though not never! - do I make use of them in real life. I've always looked at this kind of stuff as something I play around with in fandom but I can't exactly add gifsets to a professional portfolio haha. I mean, I could, I'm just too cowardly to. And like I said it's not my profession so these, well we'll generously call them "skills" begin and end with fandom for me.

I wouldn't say I randomly learned "one" day haha it's been ~14 years but essentially it did just randomly start out as what it still is today. Fan sites were big back in the day in lieu of social media and when I started in earnest as a fan of something (ATLA) I used to run one and ~design~ headers and icons and stuff for it. "Design" in the very loosest sense of the word, as an 11-year-old who's seeing Photoshop for the first time. I mostly learned from my sister who learned from online tutorials. Everything I did in Photoshop had the end goal of being on that website. And then on Tumblr I didn't do any sort of editing for the longest time, then dabbled in gifmaking a bit around 2015, my Carmilla era and post-LoK. I only truly picked up giffing about a year ago though as I started engaging with the Glee fandom here on Tumblr.

So that's the long story of it, started with ATLA headers and now making Glee gifs. I've used my Photoshop skills once or twice while at university and interning and very rarely I will make use of it at work. But it's kinda nice to have something as just a hobby I enjoy doing and sharing with people instead of this marketable skill, you know.

tbh i'm not sure?? i've always liked playing around making things and edits. i think i may have started by making my own icons back....... 2014? and from there i started making other things. and i've def improved. i found some of my old icons a bit ago and apparently i didnt know what 'aspect ratio' was or how to keep it locked lol

3. 3 reasons why you make graphics

1. i like making pretty things? im minoring in graphic design at uni so lol that should explain a few things.

2. one of the reasons i started making gifsets and posting them on my main gif blog ( @noblcedits ) was bc i wasn't seeing gifs of characters i wanted or moments i wanted or face claims i wanted. ngl a lot of the gifsets on that blog are of ian anthony dale cos i wanted to be able to reblog fc stuff for jeremy.

3. i like being able to give gifts to my friends and i can't actually give actual gifs? so a pretty edit or graphic or promo works for that.

10. 3 things you don’t like about graphic making

1. sometimes it feels like there's a 'if you make a lot of graphics or care about aesthetics then you don't care about writing' attitude? maybe that's entirely in my head tho. bc function should always come before aesthetics. no point in having somethig pretty if no one can read the fucker (to paraphrase my graphic design teacher), but still sometimes i feel that vibe. but i know that's likely just a me thing

2. honestly continuing from that but on the opposite hand, if you don't partake in the latest style of graphics it also feels like people are judging you??? again this is probably in my head. but the trends of super tiny icons? actually, super tiny anything lol. they make me ???? and i dont want to partake in that specific trend and i feel Judged tm for that. again tho, i doubt anyone actually is judging anyone for that.

3. and for one actually related to the MAKING of graphics. the ugly stage. i hate it lol. every graphic goes through the ugly stage. and this stage also ends up killing a lot of my graphics cos i cant get it out of the ugly stage and then makes me feel like i cant make anything and all my graphics suck oh wow look at it its so ugly- (but when you get it out of the ugly stage? its so good!)

Hi there!!! Oh that's very exciting!! Congrats! It's a lot of fun having ones own whump blog. Very freeing to be able to go batshit crazy about whump in the safety of your blog.

Okay so you're questions:

First of all, you can post about whatever you want!! it really is as simple as that! Whatever kind of whump you enjoy, post about it! You can blog writing scenarios, stories and fanfics, gifsets, and tropes that you've seen and enjoyed. You can create your own writing, gifsets, edits, video clips, etc or you can reblog things others have made. You can just ramble incoherently about your favorite characters you like to whump or your favorite tv or movies scenes that give you whumperflies or what tropes you love or tropes you'd like to see more of. You can share things you like but maybe don't see in the community. Maybe you love this one scene but nobody talks about it. Tell us about it! The world of whump is wide open.

We don't have steadfast rules here imo but we do have a few things to keep in mind:

When you post make sure you tag properly. Tagging is an incredibly important aspect of being a part of this community because we blog about a lot of potentially triggering things. So it's important to tag properly so that those who are triggered are are uncomfortable about certain topics can block those tags and stay safe. Tag for things like noncon, blood, flashing gifs, box boy, gore, rape, etc. When in doubt, tag it. Better to be safe than sorry.

Tagging also helps people find your content as well. For example if you make gifs, use the #whumpedit tag so people who like whump gifs and easily find you. Use the #whump tag for anything pertaining to whump.

Be kind!! There is going to be something you see that you disagree with or are uncomfortable with. That is inevitable in this community. Whump is a vary wide genre and we all like and dislike very different things. So if you see something you don't like, just keep scrolling. Block blogs if you have to, no one will be upset. Keep yourself safe by blocking tags you don't like. Just be kind and remember the age ole internet addage of Your Kink Is Not My Kink and That's Okay.

Be respectful. Not just to your fellow members of the community, but of the things you blog about. There are tropes that need to be handled with care and respect. It never hurts to do some research if you plan on writing to learn about how people who actually deal with said trope feel.

We also all tend to make an introduction post when we first start our whump blogs. Just a little something to say hi and what you enjoy whumpwise and stuff like that. We like to them reblog your intro post to say hi back and that'll help with getting you introduced to the community. It's a great way to meet people.

Don't be afraid to send messages, reply to people's posts, or go through a blogs entire archive reblogging things either! We all love that kind of interaction! And everyone is super friendly in this community.

Make sure to change your icon from the default and make your icon, your blog description, header, etc a little personalized. Make it your own. If people see default everything they tend to block the blog thinking it's a bot. Plus it's very fun to personalize the blog.

this is sappy but whatever. i wrote most of this before the season started (which is why i come off as reasonable and somewhat mentally stable about all of this) but felt appropriate to post it now as a thank you. ❤️

i have vivid memories from the night b99 was cancelled. the news came late evening my time, and i had been editing fic and checked twitter and there it was. loud and clear. i don’t remember which site it was but the picture was jake and amy with their wedding cake and that made everything feel even worse.

i remember freaking out even though i had been prepared, because those last days before the news hit on tumblr were... panicked. but i still freaked out to the extent that i ran outside in my pajama pants and hoodie and blue plastic slippers and called my mom, and then i walked up and down the streets where i lived in the darkness and cried in frustration as she tried to talk me down. i remember there were random guys with motorcycles out? but i was too hysterical to care. i’m pretty sure i screamed something to my mom about ”HOW CAN BIG BANG THEORY GET A BILLION SEASONS BUT THIS SHOW GETS CANCELLED????”

i know everyone who was in the fandom at the time has their cancellation story. what played the biggest part in mine was the fact that i felt like i hadn’t had enough time. really, i had only just become active in the fandom, only just started interacting with people on here and writing my first few fics, but i was absolutely loving it. it was giving me happiness again after a long period of emptiness and depressive feelings. when it was cancelled, what made me feel the worst was the fact that i’d had so little time – to make friends, write fic and react to episodes together. i felt deeply jealous of everyone who’d gotten more.

thinking about it coming to an end now has made me remember that night and those feelings of jealousy. because i did get more time. i got three more years. that night, i remember asking for just one, for a half, for anything, and i got three years.

and these three years have been a whirlwind of emotions and feelings and episodes and debates and discussions and gifsets and fanfic and asks and having this as my safe space while pretty much everything changed around me in the outside world, and i just want you all to know that i have never taken a single day of them for granted. this show could have been taken from me before i’d ever gotten the chance to grow with it and alongside it, and instead it was part of my life for three whole years.

i have a really, really good memory (four time quiz champion anyone? just me?okay <3), and i remember so much of it in such detail, and it's so weird to think about how long it's been when it also feels like yesterday.

i remember my first comment on peraltiago parenting experience, my first episode-related fic, the insane high after the renewal, staying up all night to watch the wedding live. i remember writing fanfiction on the beach while on vacation in greece, on a plane to berlin, at home on my parents balcony late late at night. i remember the honeymoon episode title being released, s6 starting filming again, the excitement over every little piece of news and finding about the cast directing. i remember labor fic and christmas fics and when i scroll back to pictures of my paris trip in january 2019 it's interspersed with a billion pictures of andy at the golden globes. i remember lighting my fairy lights in my little basement room and watching season 6 in bed at 2.30 am if it was a big episode, and watching it in the morning before fridays in high school most days. i remember writing post-ep fics during classes and on my phone on subways and trains. i remember the s7 news, and the casecation nerves and debates, and fucking kissgate. being named "the class amy santiago" by my friends when we graduated and getting a little silver paper plate to show for it. i remember the first fic exchange and inventing julian and simon santiago and i remember meeting @johnny-and-dora and eating wagamamas in manchester and talking about how simon santiago was DEFINITELY on the stairs and buying a little fake plant that i named andy plantberg (he's still in a box somewhere). i remember writing fic during slow hours in the ice cream shop i worked at. moving and putting up my framed b99 poster in my own apartment (very much still up). finding out about trying and everyone going fucking crazy. infertility fic. melissa's pregnancy news. s7 promo and standing outside my job the very first day and texting siân "AMY HAS TO PEE!!!!!???" because that was in the promo and we knew there were pregnancy tests involved in the first episode. the crazy happiness of s7 finally premiering. everyone going crazy about jake and amy deciding to start trying and how i could quote the scene verbatim the next few days. the week leading up to trying, what turned out to be the last normal week before the pandemic. the fucking MESS i was after that. the following week and ding dong and crying with happiness. being dizzy with hyperfixation joy the following day and barely feeling aware of the covid pandemic for the first few days because i was just thinking about jake and amy having a baby. getting through the first few weeks mostly because of b99. admiral peralta and finding out we were having a BOY and not even being disappointed even though the headcanon had been the opposite for years because it was perfect. the iconic b99 quizzes. lights out and mac being born. somehow managing 475 days before season 8, coping together when we got the news about the final season, watching the cast do their final day of filming. the first stream being interrupted by a storm warning and cutting out several minutes because of course. getting to see parents peraltiago and MAC and the insane speed with which those few seconds were giffed. more b99 quizzes. the vow renewal. the finale.

i remember all of it and so much more and as much as my heart is breaking, i’m trying to remind myself that i could have gotten none of this.

brooklyn nine-nine has been such an important part of my life. and it always, always will be, forever. i could have lost it all that night, and instead i got three more years. if i'd known that when i was walking the streets outside my house in the darkness in complete panic, i would have cried with happiness.

so thank you. all of you. for everything. ❤️❤️❤️ for the friendships, the joy, the asks, the debates, the fic response, EVERYTHING. whether we've shared three years or one or less, just know that i'm so grateful.

this the descent gifset by @bongjoonsho because it’s such a perfect horror edit and everything i aspire to make in terms of big gifs/colouring/quality!!! it looks sooo good and hq and crisp. i normally find it hard to color horror sets properly and i feel like lera did such a great job with this one.

this inej ghafa edit by @oliviarodriog which is not just stunning in terms of blending (all her edits are!!) but also made my heart so happy because the quote fits so well with inej and who she is as a person who doesn’t give up. AND!! the color of inej’s skin is so rich and beautiful?? we don’t know white-washing in this house. and the blue is GORGEOUS.

this kanej set by @milesgmorales has a very special place in my heart because it includes one of my absolute favorite pairings and the most perfect song for them. kanej and tightrope are forever linked for me and i can’t think of one without the other now. the blending is gorgeous, i adore the blue and i really like the fonts rajan chose.

this jesper fahey gifset by @tedlass literally made me cry when i saw it. jesper is probably my favorite bisexual character of all time and i don’t usually see that many sets about his family so this made my heart feel incredibly full. the shots look so pretty and the whole gifset is so soft.

this crows set by @hunterschafer is one of my favorite creations ever!!! the format is soo creative and cool, the crows shots are all so crisp and pretty, the little icons and the fonts are perfect?? i can’t imagine how long this must’ve taken to make and the kind of Big Brain moment it came from.

Overall comment on your creativity year 2021: i’m happy to say that i managed to step out of my comfort zone this year and experiment with new things such as BLENDING!!! which i was really scared of trying. i also like that i came up with the 100 female characters in 2021 idea because it pushed me to make content from different sources (tv, film, books) and it pushed me to not be lazy because i hate to leave things unfinished fdjfg

I am curious: what are your favorite scenes from your main ships (date, dair, derena...)?

scenes involving milo don't count, sorry!

for me, it's really not just scenes, but body language & just in general, how they are with each other, you know? dan and serena grin at each other and hug SO much, you can tell that being around each other in s1 made them both so happy, and even after that glow fades the way they look for comfort in each other... top level stuff. the way blair looks at dan... we never see her as radiant at any other point. she was not looking at anyone else like this. and gosh, dan and nate. they're both so comfortable around each other that there's absolutely nothing weird about like. discussing that one ex girlfriend whom they both share AND both were in love with. there is literally no other duo who trusts/enjoys each other's company so much that they're comfortable in a love triangle. (probably because they're more in love with each other than with the girl, but that is not the point. or is it?)

anyway, more specific answers. under the cut. this is one of the longest answers i've ever written on this blog possibly but you KNEW that would happen when you sent this ask, didn't you? (affectionate)

derena: i tagged one of my ds reblogs as 'the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one' and like. look at them! this hug from 1x10 kills me in the best way. they are both the literal embodiment of :D when they see each other! i love 1x10 as a whole moment, their entire thing at cotillion is so sweet and they're both so happy. the fact that he is talking about his chemistry teacher during this kiss in 1x07. that bit at the end of 1x05 when they talk about their siblings (being there for their sibling because of fallible parents being a derena parallel makes me simultaneously really sad and really soft, tbh). 1x05 gives me SO MUCH SECONDHAND EMBARRASSMENT but the way they walk off together arms around each other does something to me - these are two people who are still getting to know each other but who really like what they see, and who trust each other and. are just having a good time together! back when derena was my OTP, the 1x11 "your story's about me?" was absolutely a fave, too, and i still adore it, albeit in a different, more nostalgic way. i like a dan who writes cute stories about serena. no empty shell sabrina van skoneker bullshit. she is so much like you, daniel! you'd be shattered if she did this to you. don't do this to her. tbh, most derena moments from s1 are just A+ romance. the bit in 2x02 in the jitney is so funny, they're SO bad at being exes. the bit in... 3x03 i think?? i don't remember... on the contrary. when they're talking about dan's fling w/ georgina and serena's relationship with carter, the ease with which they talk and how happy/supportive they are of each other's new relationships... yeah. love to see it.

i also really like any instance of them having honest/open conversations. 1x13, talking about how serena is concerned about blair. 1x08, serena talking to dan about feeling jealous of vanessa. this bit from the touch of eva or whatever that episode is. 4x04 i think. this is the conversation everyone is trying to get dan to have and he's avoiding EVERYONE else. derena interactions in 3x21 (can't find a gif right now) - the fact that dan is with serena when her dad abandons them, the fact that he goes all the way there with her. 2x07, "i'm really glad you're nate's friend. he really needs someone like you right now" (though i'm cheating, that's technically a d/n moment too klhdflkgf). there's a bit in s4 where he's advising her against having an affair w/ colin, i don't remember the ep number, but the way he takes her side so easily and naturally and puts due blame/responsibility solely on her professor... yeah. 4x10 i think this ep is?? idk. but like my tags say, im sentimental about this moment because while what dan was doing was irresponsible, sneaking her out of the ostroff, he was the only person in this episode who was actually talking to her and listening to her and taking her seriously. nobody else was doing that!!

i probably have more moments i'm not remembering, but we're only 1/3 into this answer and LOOK AT THE WORDS, good lord, i'm sorry.

dair: my favourite dair episode is hands down despicable b (5x21) which i have heard is an uncommon answer. i just love the conflict resolution of it all, okay!!! 1x04 & 2x08 are like. standard answers any dair shipper will give, and i'm no different. i love dan being able to give blair advice and blair actually taking his advice even though they're not friends yet!!! be right back, yelling at the intimacy of it all!! 5x16, with their getting together (this little kiss and dan being so startled by it), blair admitting a flaw she genuinely does have and dan saying it's not awful because it's her, which is just. romance at its finest. those vows, good lord. 5x18.... they're having fun! blair showing up at the loft in lingerie for dan... the delight on her face.... (i know this moment blows up in their face but when she's there she looks so happy and proud of herself and this was like THE moment when i was like. oh. dair is really the heart of this garbage show huh).

i think for me, the thing that really sells dan & blair together is the serena of it all. both of them love serena more fiercely than anyone else, and that is what brings them together. (fwiw i definitely think nate loved serena this much and this deeply, too; the writers just wanted to pop the serenate balloon, which even i think was extremely unnecessary and ooc.) but (& i have so much meta about this) their relationship grows beyond serena. their entire s4 arc is SO good. i love how comfortable around each other they are, in such an adult way, in the sense of like. they both bring so much stability to each other? morgan tagged this edit "the marrieds" and like. yeah. b offers to help him shave. they're having breakfast & reading the paper together.

all the love declarations we got that weren't a simple 'i love you.' be your charming wonderful self (how could she not love you/ tell me what would make you happy, dan) i told chuck he doesn't have my heart anymore (you spent your life earning the keys to set you free when you were free all along!!!!) dan's pep talk to blair in 5x21 (already linked a gifset earlier, here's another one if you want i guess). there's definitely more... but honestly, the way the dair arc was executed was so good - while i do have my complaints, i also think keeping those aside, it was SO close to perfect. i love dan & blair's banter and gradually becoming closer and closer and closer. it felt very organic and real and GOSH. the way penn & leighton looked at each other while playing dan and blair...... it's just SO MUCH.

date: this is the hardest, because it's. *screams*. maybe you saw me losing my mind over those 2 seconds of nate handing dan a waffle? i love almost every scene with these two, even the hellish s6 breakup scene. my favourite episode for d/n (& also favourite gg episode in general) is 2x06 - i love the homoerotic subtext of it all. nate pretending to be dan because dan's name is the first name that came to his head. dan flirting w/ nate while tied to that thing, in his underwear. them becoming friends. and 2x07 as a follow-up to that! dan getting nate to live in the loft with the humphreys for a while. i am so soft.

4x09 is a terrible episode in general, especially for serena my beloved, but the d/n moments in that one? off the CHARTS. this weird overly macho flirting, in some ways THE most iconic d/n line. this entire finish each other's sentences nonsense. someone (i think it was ana but im not sure?) compared the energy of those scenes i just linked to the book blairenate love triangle resolution, blairena choosing each other over nate in the books, date choosing each other over serena in the show (if only! RIP.) after the saints & sinners ball, this cute little moment of 'youre the only one who understands me. please tell me they went home together. i mean. how could they not have.

3x07, them watching vampire porn together. a tag i used on ao3 (& also on here, once) is 'nate brings out the himbo in dan'. here is a prime example. 'is she levitating?' i don't fucking know, dan, what do you think?? (i was telling my partner that that's what i love abt dair vs date. around blair dan is an intellectual, a librarian, an art historian, a museum curator. around nate it's like dan is competing to be #1 himbo on the show. can my girlfriend actually fly? i don't know, dan. i can't believe you're seriously asking such a question.)

3x12 pep talk. (sorry about the shitty quality!) essentially nate telling dan that he (dan) is hot and that he shouldn't talk himself down so much.

dan making nate gay in his book. you know. his book from which blair found out he was in love with her. nads (who i will not tag in this billion word long gushy meta, because i value her sanity) once called inside "wish fulfilment' and. i mean. yeah

nate checking dan out at the derena wedding continues to be hilarious. hilarious in the same way as dan sexually fantasising about nate. canon really went 'let's give ivy some special easter eggs' and i appreciate them a lot!

i love the way they are around each other - so quietly attuned to each other. i showed my sister my date!husbands gifset, and she was like. yeah they're so married. and it's just stuff like how dan looks for nate over his shoulder, it's not even an active action, it's as easy and natural and intuitive as breathing, checking to see if nate is still there.

oh, that wasn't as hard as it could've been! okay. cool. im SURE there's more things i could scream about, because it's DN, the fact that they're non-canon makes me THAT much fiercer about them than dair/derena, to be honest. so many dots to connect!! anyway.

loaded question! han was a semi popular swiftie on here who operated under a plethora of urls, maybe most notably shouldhavesaidno. we became friends when my url was shouldvesaidsno and took part in a little circle should’ve said no urls all using the same icon and theme etc for like april fools once. anyway, she gained a lot of notoriety as a gifmaker and occasional graphic maker, if you see a gifset on your dashed sourced by a deleted blog whose url is byeswiftiebitches, that’s her! han was not-so-secretly very mean though and loved to bully her friends (then the next day blame it on being drunk), once created discourse about how we shouldn’t reblog non-flawless edits because it encourages people to make bad edits and lies to them about their talent, would constantly go off about supporting editors while only reblogging her friends work, and when she got run off of swiftie tumblr for being all around vile along with amanda (teardropsonmyguitar), they made a new blog (taylor-nation) together to “trick” people into reblogging their content even if they were trying to avoid interacting with them. she also assisted in accusing a minor of catfishing and creating a blog around exposing this person based on unfounded proof. my personal han story is that we were actually pretty good friends, but she would vague post about me constantly and send me really mean asks for liking harry styles (i guess he just bothered her?), also borrowed the url getawayscar from me and never gave it back, gave it to someone else etc.

10: An old creation that will always have a special place in your heart

Answered here and here. Another one is this Pearl Mackie edit. I made five edits in this style of the Doctor Who cast and Steven Moffat, but this one is the neatest I think. I drew the doodles myself, I like the navy colour and of course Pearl’s orange nail polish in the middle photo!

11: A new creation that you’re very proud of!

Answered here and here. Another one is Starring Pedro Pascal - it came out pretty well, I think! I used to make edits like this with a fading effect but I was doing it manually with opacity and duplicating layers (I think there is a way to do it in Timeline but I don’t know how to do it) but this time I just went with no transition between the photos in the background and I think it actually looks better for it.

12: Pick your favourite creation of yours based on the colour palette

These Jim Kirk icons. I made these slap bang in the middle of two huge editing breaks, but I was very pleased with them. I was obsessed with Star Trek: TOS at the time and I wanted a new icon so I made these. I ended up keeping the green one with stars as my icon from October 2019 up until February this year. This colour palette suits this screencap perfectly, well done me, haha!

13: What is your preferred format? Moodboards, gifsets, poster sets…?

Any of these done well I will fall head over heels for! @radiantskywalker does fantastic moodboards, @sylvia-tilly made many inspiring ones back in the day. I have made a few myself but they’re not on par with those two at all. @millenniumsfalcon and @trashcora spring to mind for their stunning gifsets. Guess who I immediately thought of for posters? You have three guess but you won’t need them, it’s @sith-maul.

I realise I have not answered the question, and I guess that’s because I don’t stick to one format - I jump around all over the place. In terms of edits I have recently developed a clear style of inverted colours, best demonstrated here and here and here. So I guess I love edits because they get more notes than headers or icons, but! That feeling you get when someone uses one of your headers or icons? Unmatched.

Wait, I’ve got it! My answer to this question is anything but gifs. I have a love/hate relationship with gifs, in that I mostly hate them but I love to know how they are made.

I really belong on Tumblr, huh?

14: A fandom you want to create more content for!

I want to make some things for Star Wars and Rogue One! I haven’t made anything for them at all yet because I keep getting distracted by how much I love Din and Grogu and that’s perfectly understandable, I think.

Oh gosh, okay! I’ll try to keep each of these to a few words as I am prone to writing essays.

17: Do you enjoy working with gifs?

Gosh, no, I find them so stressful! Sometimes I fancy making a gif but the fancy doesn’t last long once I actually go to make them. The process of making gifs is so long and arduous and there’s only so much you can do with a gif and I just don’t enjoy the process at all. As I said I hate gifs but I also love to see what others have done with them! 

18: Do you enjoy creating graphics?

Gosh, yes! I find the whole process so much more rewarding, that you have the freedom to do anything, really, as long as you can work out how. I’m able to zoom in and put a lot of detail into my graphics which pleases me no end. I think it’s far more creatively exciting to work on a graphic, whether it’s an icon or a header or an edit. You’re transforming the source material completely, you know what I mean? I just get excited about graphics. It’s wonderful that so many people are learning how to make gifs but graphics? That’s where the fun really is in my opinion!

19: Do you like mixing up your style and trying new stuff, or do you prefer to have a more consistent style?

I’ve sort of answered this above, haven’t I? Oops. I like to try new stuff sometimes but always with a view to doing it my way. It has to fit in with my style or I’m simply not interested. Like the trend at the moment for text to be warped slightly into a shape? Not my style at all, I like my text boring, thank you. I have an inkling how it’s done but I’m not bothered either way. Almost everything I do now is informed by my love of making icons and headers - nearly everything is cut out from a background and put onto one of my creation. I’m an obsessive cutter-outer.

20: A creator you look up to!

Just one!? @sith-maul. I’m obsessed with Nik’s creations and I will not shut up about it. I’m like an embarrassing parent telling everyone how talented my child is because I’m so proud of them.

What a year (derogatory.) It’s been long and difficult and frustrating and not what we had in mind when the clock struck midnight a year ago I’m sure. Wishing you all a happier, brighter, less lonely 2021. 🙏🏻✨💕

I’ve been out of this fandom for about two years. When we went into lockdown (the first time around) I didn’t know what to do with myself. On a whim, I got back into Formula 1 (it was always somewhere in the back of my mind but I hadn’t given it my full attention for a while), first by catching up on DTS, and then by tuning into the races around June. Finally, I tentatively re-joined the fandom in early August. At first I felt kind of lost - there were so many new urls, icons, new posts; hell, the fandom had a name now (f1blr) which was new. I didn’t really have any expectations, I just wanted to feel a little less lonely, a little less hopeless. I never could’ve anticipated what would happen in the next five months. 

I got back into editing and giffing and interacting in fandom and everything that comes with that. I met so many wonderful, talented, kind people, a lot of whom I consider genuine friends. I’ve been welcomed back with open arms. I got to be a part of something bigger than myself, experience the epic highs and lows of Sebchal as teammates, and feel a real sense of purpose and community for the first time in this cursed year. I know it sounds stupid, but every note on a gifset, every @ mention, every tag under my edits, every time someone hits like under one of my long drawn-out essays, every anonymous (and non-anon) ask in my inbox...It all means so much to me. My follower count shot up from 600-something to an astonishing 983. I still can’t really believe it, but I’m grateful for each and every one of you. You inspire me and motivate me and bring me so much joy. Thank you💕
