I made shrimp in black bean sauce!!! 😋 the pungent, deep flavor of the fermented bean paste makes this dish phenomenal. The umami is undeniably present. The fresh vegetables give it a crisp sweetness that pairs perfectly with the black bean sauce. I fried the shrimp after coating them in corn starch so they were light and crispy. The combination was delightful 😊. I served it on a bed of rice to balance the depth of flavor in the sauce. It was delicious 😋 😍 I've never made this before, but it was easy to do. Everyone should cook their own food because it gives you a very joyful satisfaction and great food. When I make my own food, I can control the amount of salt and ingredients to make it just the way I want it to be. This time, I added more onions, carrots and green peas to the dish because that's how I like it. I use recipes as guidelines, but I always add my own style and flavors to everything that I cook. In this way, I make the dish my own, and in my opinion, it tastes much better. It saves sooooooo much money, too. It's a great experience. This dish was better than the food that I get in Chinese restaurants, and it was a quarter of the price. In the words of Julia Child, bon Appétit! Food is love, and I love to cook. Gem had come over again, but decided to surprise Ellis tonight. In their arm was a bag of fresh groceries, enough for two and.. maybe a spare bit for Eggs to have something special? When they opened the door, Ellis greeted them warmly with an embrace and kiss on the cheek when they noticed the bag. "Oh, and what's this?" They'd ask, brow perked at their partner as they allowed them inside. Gem grinned, claiming no take out tonight they just needed to use their kitchen. Ellis would watch as Gem set everything out and started to prepare dinner, conversation being a lot of adore and praise from the book clerk admiring their partner enjoying themselves cooking while a ball of fur was rubbing himself between the the two's legs for attention. When all was finished, there were two plates put together for them, and a small piece of salmon for the cat, cooked for a nice treat. "You're going to spoil him at this rate." "You didn't think I'd deprive the sweet boy something nice when I'm already cooking, did you?" Gem would laugh while scratching the purring cat's chin as he leaned into their touch. Ellis just felt their heart swell at the sweet sound and shook their head as they went to sit down to eat. "You really are too good to both of us~"

Dinner
- spatchcocked free range chicken with 24 hour marinade
- green beans with shiitake and béchamel sauce
- cheddar chive buttermilk biscuits
- mashed potatoes with roasted garlic
- apple pie (apples from my grandmothers backyard) and vanilla ice cream

I was wondering if you, Britt, have a passion for cooking? It seems so through your work. I love it a lot and has even inspired what I wanted for dinner before. Lol

Hi, friend! I have a HUGE passion for cooking and trying new recipes. It's one of my stress relievers, you know? Usually very low risk, high reward. Unless I'm cooking a big holiday feast. Just the other day, I cooked-up a big pot of Italian chicken stew for some of my friends.
So hearty and delicious!
I love experimenting in the kitchen. I grew up cooking with my mother, who is an amazing cook in her own right.
And when I was in the early stages of crafting Reader's overall persona, I wanted to give her something that would be pretty much a constant. So, I went with cooking and baking.
Andy also loves it because his girl cooks from her heart. And although she's damned good at it, she's not perfect. She strives for perfection, but cooking gives her room to fail. In the kitchen she allows herself to be vulnerable, and as we've seen, eventually they reach a point in their relationship when Andrew can glean insight into his lady's mood by what's going on in that particular room.
Plus, he's also a big fan of the way her hips move when she whisks.
I'm so glad Reader's love of cooking has inspired you to be a little more adventurous in the kitchen! What things do you like to make?

It's Christmas Eve, and I've already started cooking for Christmas day dinner. At the moment, I have pumpkin pies in the oven. I already made a cherry pie... and dinner rolls are in the process of rising. I will prepare all the sides tonight. I only want to worry about the prime rib, and ham tomorrow. I'm making up for missing Thanksgiving due to being sick with Covid.
