Ride 764: Dearest wish
Pag 1
1: The one thing the third year Onoda Sakamichi desires is....?
Pag 2
3: His dearest wish!!
4: Right!!
Pag 3
1: That's definitely Onoda's dearest wish
Pag 4
2: Do your beest
They're so fast!
They move the wind
The jerseys are so brightly colored
3: No no no no
4: That- that's not it
That's not-
Is Sohoku arguing over something!?
Pag 5
1: That- that was just the spur of the moment
I ended up just saying anything
2: That's not my dearest wish at all....
So- uhm
3: Please forget about it, everyone!!
4: No way!!
Yeah
Teh!!
Yep
Yeah
Pag 6
1: That must be our goal this year!! Our third victory in a row!!
Pag 7
1: Yessir!!
On!!
Yeah!!
2: The three day long stage is harsh and long, that's why everyone's strengths will be necessary!!
Yessir!!
3: If we can all unite our strengths and support each other as one...
4: The I'll be able to win brilliantly!! Yeah!!
Just like I did during the prefectural qualification!!
Ohhhh
Tch
Pag 8
1: I'll sprint desperately, Hotshot-san will accompany me, and I'll do a grand finishing dash, just like that day!!
Okay!! You've been saying it over and over again!!
2: You're really a guy who clings to the glory of the past
The prefectural qualification is connected to the Inter High, it's not in the past!!
You're the type of guy I hate the most when you get carried away
Naruko-san was amazing, teh!!
That day, yeah!!
Naruko-san!!
3: Sto-stop iit, you were both amazing that day
4: Come oon... we're in the middle of an important meeting
6: Now that I think about it
Onoda-san's....
7: This is all
Pag 9
1: Can I say one last thing?
2: I also think our goal must be a third consecutive victory
3: There's just one thing I'm curious about we still haven't asked
Onoda-san
5: What's your goal this year?
What are you running in the Inter High for?
6: When I asked you this last year during the first years' race
Pag 10
1: I want to report it
2: You said you wanted to report the victory to your senpai
3: And you
4: Accomplished that
5: Honestly, when I first heard that I thought “what is he talking about, that's such a small goal”
But that day, after the race, when I saw Onoda-san doing it
6: I was shaking
I thought from the bottom of my heart that it was amazing
Pag 11
1: I thought you were super cool
5: Wh- no no
That- I was just reporting, there's nothing cool about it at all, okay
Pag 12
1: So I want to know what your goal is this year
Please tell us what you're thinking about!!
2: Is it “I want to report to that senpai once again”!?
4: Crowning your third victory in a row as the captain!?
6: Is it the mountain's bib!? Is it winning a stage!?
Please tell us... your goal during the race...
7: or maybe for when the race is over!!
8: A.....
9: No no no
It's nothing- yes, it's nothing!!
Pag 13
1: Onoda's goal....
2: I see, what Onoda-kun wants to do....
3: Now that I think about it....
4: What is it!? You started saying it now, “a”!!
Is it “running as an assist”!?
5: Does it mean you don't want to bear the last heavy burden!?
No no no no, that's fine, if the situation calls for it I'll do my best
6: That's enough, Issa
7: There are things Onoda-san doesn't want to say too
No, if it can become motivation for the team then he should say it
Pag 14
1: Onoda-san's goal!!
2: But still, Issa!!
I'm telling you, anything is fine!!
Ah, uhm...
3: It's a really personal thing, so.... don't get your hopes up...
But.... that's... always been.... my dearest wish...
4: Dearest wish!!
5: If we run with all we have in this Inter High.... putting together all of our strengths and deliver our jersey to the finish line
6: If we get the best result....
Pag 15
1: No no, I really can't say more than this
3: Say it, everything's fine. I'm curious too
4: Ah.... if we get the best results.... I....
5: I want to reserve a room somewhere...
6: A room?
8: Prepare teacakes
9: Cakes!?
10: Ask for everyone's cooperation...
Pag 16
1: Gather five people
5: It's something I've been imagining.... since before... entering school in my first year.....
7: Even just for one day
8: Even just a few hours after school
Everyone will bring what they like
9: A.....
Oi.... don't tell me you mean.... you
Pag 17
1: I'm thinking of reviving the anime research club!!
Pag 18
5: No way!!
Pag 19
1: And then, there
2: I think I could call Makishima-san, who likes figures
I feel like you've misunderstood something here
3: And Midosuji-kun who likes anime
Would you be able to hold a conversation with him!?
4: Isn't that good!! The best goal!!
5: You'll gather five people in no time!!
6: Kakaka mine will be the first name you write down
7: Amazing
From England and Kyoto....!!
Pag 20
1: I don't really get it, but somehow that fired me up!!
2: That's Onoda-san's dearest wish!!
3: Ah
4: N-no, it's really nothing much, so I take it back...
Revive the anime club!!
Let's do it, for Onoda-san!!
I don't really know what an anime club does, but I'm in!!
Me too!!
5: Yeeah!!
Let's do it!!
Issa, calm down
Pag 21
2: Your goal is to “revive the anime research club even for just day”?
Oi oi, that's such a small
3: but splendid goal!!
4: You managed to unite the club's intentions as one with such bizarre words!!
5: You're really are an unpredictable guy!!
The plate will soon become green
“Real start”.... the real race will start!!

pairing: kuroda yukinari x gn!reader (no prns)
summary: you are a manager of the Sohoku team and he's a member of the Hakogaku team— the two of you are not meant to be
warnings: spoilers of the second inter-high
The two of you were not meant to be. The gods had not meant for you to get together, and the world did not lend a helping hand either. You were a year younger than him, a manager of the Souhoku road race team, and he was a member of the Hakone Academy road race team. It wasn't meant to work out.
However, there was no way for you to not fall in love. Not when he was the one you weren't allowed to fall for.
You could never forget, it was your second year at the inter-high as a manager, but it was particularly busy. Maybe it had to do with the fact that it was the first day with all the nerves, or maybe it was the fact that it was really, really hot that day and you failed to realize. However, you fainted while carrying drinks back to your team's tent after most members had crossed the goal for that day. It was a horrible time and place to faint as well— you were avoiding the main walkways and trying to walk under the trees behind the tents to get as much shade as possible, and it was a little after the main bulk of people had left. You were unaware of everything that happened after, but you later hear that Kuroda had been the one to carry you back to your team's tent. Apparently, he had gotten patched up and wanted to try walking to see how his condition was. He was covered in bandages and with an injured arm and leg, he still carried you all the way back, after finishing the first part of a race.
By the time you were up, he was already long gone, but the idea of him doing that for you was enough for you to run out to try to find him. You had no luck that time, as they had already moved to their hotel, but Onoda kindly asked Manami where they were staying for you, as you seemed so hung up on it.
You had roughly a minute, maybe a little more to talk to him, but that was about it. You didn't wish to either, he had a race tomorrow and he had wounds to heal. The fact that he came down to meet you was more than enough for you.
"Thank you so much for earlier today, I heard from everyone else," you said, bowing deep.
"Oh, stop that. It's all good, I'm glad you're up," he said. "Feeling better?"
"Yes, I feel great now, thank you," you said. His bandages looked horrible. "I can't believe you did this for me when your injuries are..."
Then he laughs. You didn't think he was one to laugh. "I was skeptical too... but you were super light and I was glad to know that my arm's still fine," he said, but you knew he was being nice and acting strong. There was no way it wasn't tough.
"Oh, I won't keep you for too long, I'll get in trouble if I bother an athlete before a race any more than I already have," you said with a smile. "Again, thank you so much for today. It really meant the world to me."
Slowly you walked away to leave so he felt comfortable to walk back in. At the time, you thought he was being kind as he watched you walk back, but in reality, he was subconsciously mesmerized by your smile.
You did not get another chance to talk to him that inter-high, but you were always watching him. When he finished the race, when he was on the podium. Everytime he was in your field of vision, you noticed your eyes would follow him. Later, you would greatly regret not talking to him more, but at the moment all you could do was stare.
Months went by and you felt silly after realizing just how much you still thought about him. You couldn't forget him and somehow your feelings only continued to grow, but there was nothing much you could do about it. You didn't know anyone in Hakone Academy directly, and you really didn't feel like asking one of your teammates to ask their friend for Kuroda's contact. Not to mention, he was a third year so you couldn't count on next year's inter-high either.
However, that was alright, because you hadn't expected anything from this to begin with. It was just your one-sided feelings that no one would ever find out about, and that was okay with you. It's not that you were going to give up, but rather that you didn't expect much to begin with. You were more than happy to continue to harbor these feelings, especially while they weren't in the way of anyone else. One day they were bound to disappear.
But like fate, a week later Kinjou had come to visit a practice and he had brought Arakita with him for fun. The entire team was thrilled to see Kinjou again as he helped them train some more, and Arakita watched around as he complained, explaining that he didn't want to be here at all. Apparently he wasn't going to go around helping a former rival team practice either, which was actually a very fair reason.
You knew it was rude and you were very intimidated by Arakita, but all you could think of since he arrived was Kuroda's contact. He must know— and you wanted to know so badly. Was that the right decision though? Shouldn't you just give up and let it go instead? No, you had regretted not talking to him more before and this was your first chance after months. You would be so dumb to let it go just like that.
So just before he was about to leave, you called to him, insanely nervous.
"Arakita-san," you said and he looked back.
"Hah? Oh, the manager?" he asked and you nodded. "Have we talked before?"
"N-no," you said. "So I realize this is terribly strange for me to ask, but could I um..."
"Oh, just spit it out."
"Would you be able to tell me Kuroda-san's contact?" you said very quickly and quietly. Your eyes were glued to the floor and you were too embarrassed to look up.
Immediately after you heard laughter and you were unsure how to react. You didn't think he would laugh at you.
"Is this what I think it is?" He said, far more amused now than he was the entire time he was here. You didn't say anything but it must've shown on your face because he continued to go on. "When did Kuroda find himself a cute little crush?"
"No, it's not him, it's me," you said. "Actually, he probably doesn't remember me..."
"Oh, he's rude and annoying but give him a little more credit than that. If he did something that would make you fall for him, I'm sure that he must remember. He's not one to do nice things, let alone charm people," he said. "And I think you should ask him yourself, rather."
"No, he was very nice! For him to carry someone he didn't know back while... hold on what?"
He had turned his phone on and called a contact named Kuroda.
"Oh, gosh, please don't give it to me. I don't know what to say," you said.
"What do you mean! You were the one who wanted his—" he started to say but he was cut off by a voice from the phone.
"Arakita-san? How rare for you to call," you could hear the voice say faintly. "Did something happen? I'm going to get back to practice soon so if you could be quick..."
It was him. It was Kuroda. The voice you wanted to hear for the past few months was so close and no longer just in your head.
"No, if he's busy then it's okay," you whispered frantically. At this rate his only impression of you is going to be bothersome.
"Why are you suddenly a wimp now considering you were able to come ask me before?" Arakita asked.
"Hmm? What are you talking about?" Kuroda asked from the phone. "A wimp?"
"Oh, my bad, my bad," Arakita replied to him. "Not you. I'm actually at Sohoku right now."
"What? Sohoku? Why?" Kuroda asked, confused. "Oh, then can you see if their managers are okay? One of them fainted during the inter-high a couple of months ago."
Your eyes widened, absolutely shocked. He remembered. He cared. Arakita looked over at you and your face said all he needed to know. Kuroda was talking about you.
"Kuroda-chan are you in love..." he teased and you genuinely thought it was over.
"Oh, shut up," Kuroda replied quietly, and unfortunately you couldn't hear. "What if someone hears you!"
Arakita immediately started to laugh and you heard a faint 'shut up, stop laughing!' from the phone. "Here," Arakita said, passing you the phone. "Your turn."
Shocked you quickly took the phone.
"What? Who's turn? Was someone listening??" Kuroda asked, terribly confused and panicking slightly.
"Um, hello. I'm the one who collapsed at the inter-high who you helped," you said carefully.
"Oh gosh, were you listening?" he asked.
"Sorry, I could hear... Not the last part though!" you said and he sighed, relieved.
"Thank goodness," he said. You were confused and curious, but you had something else to ask.
"I asked Arakita-san for your um... contact... and he kindly called you so I could ask you myself. So would it be alright for me to ask you..." you started to say.
"Of course!" Kuroda replied a little too quickly and enthusiastically, which he beated himself up for seconds later. "I mean, I would love to have your contact as well, if that's okay."
And that was the start. The two of you had many more obstacles to simply get to know each other, but he was the one for you, and you were the one for him.

JESUS CHRIST TESHIMA!!!!!!!!!! 😫🤦 LET YOUR HEARTBREAK AND FEELINGS OF BETRAYL GO FOR A FUCKING MINUTE I BEG OF YOU!!!!
It makes sense though it was only like half an hour ago for them even though we're in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber of seeing every meanwhile and flashback there is to see. Of course he's clinging to that. His heart is so broken right now. 😭 Teshimaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
Onoda ships them as hard as we do and his faith is unbroken and I love him so much for it! He wavers when things get tough like anyone does but he believes in them so much!!! 😭
No matter how this race ends I hope Aoyagi tackles Teshima off screen and kisses him and their relationship survives this.
He doesn't say "no stay strong! " he says something like he won't let his feelings sway him.
And to that I say WHICH FEELINGS TESHIMA????? HMMMM???
Can't stop thinking about riding next to him huh?
Can't top thinking about how great a guy he is and how long you've been struggling side by side huh?
Love how the current team captain and who I assume will be the next team captain are both stuck on their Poor decisions on whether or not to stick by their friends and deeply regret them because they go against their nature.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊
WISHES DO COME TRUE TESHIMA!!!!!!!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

"BUT YOU CHARMED ME" "WHEN I LOST HOPE, YOU ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO BE YOUR PARTNER." "WE'RE A TWO MAN TEAM" "YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE WHO BELIEVED IN ME"
THE TEARS HIT AOYAGIS CHEEK JUST BELOW HIS LEFT EYE AS IF THEY WERE A KISS THAT TESHIMA BLEW!!!!!!!!!!
AOYAGI MOVES HIS HAND TO WHERE THE TEARS HIT IN A MOTION LIKE CATCHING A BLOWN KISS OR TOUCHING WHERE A KISS HAS LANDED AFTER A LOVER HAS PULLED BACK!!!!!!!!!! AND SMILES IN VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!

Physically Kinjo is a fairly tall, muscular third year who's Sohoku's captain and ace but emotionally he carries them all on his back without ever getting tired
#please feel free to ignore this#I'm watching Yowamushi Pedal#I love Kinjo so much he's such a steady presence and he cares so much for everyone on the team#He's both himself and the embodiment of the entire Sohoku team he carries them all with him as he crosses the finish line#He's so cool like I've used the word cool before but I've never meant it until now

LE MAD BANANA'S RANDOM BLABBERING ABOUT YOWAMUSHI PEDAL
* Yes there was a Spare Bike movie -- but was that just it? Would there be a chance to make it into a proper anime series!?
* Miyahara (a.k.a. Class Rep) has finally given a name -- SUZUKO. I'm gagging
* Fight me or not, Manami is actually... hermit-smart. You know what I mean?
* Was it mentioned in Spare Bike that Arakita is bad at Math? All I know is that he easily falls asleep just by seeing numbers swimming on the blackboard, but I don't remember reading one part that he sucks at it. Because what if he is actually hecking good at it? I mean, he won't be able to get into the course of his choice in Yonan if he sucks at Math.
*And I am tell you, since Onoda is now captain, one possible punishment he could give to his juniors, if and when they didn't finish their laps or anything similar, is to make them perform Love Hime's opening theme -- complete with costume and such. Fellow third years are NO EXCEPTION.
* I won't be surprised if KyoFushi will win this year's Inter-High. I have mixed feelings for Midousuji, but he is a one damn opponent since day one.
* Who made their first impression that Teshima and Aoyagi were like evil stepbrothers in Onoda's life -- but they proved us wrong and they are now one of the most celebrated pair in the series? I'm raising my hand.
* And yes, I’m signing their adoption papers now.
* Who knows Aya Tachibana, Miki's BFF from the tennis team? I wanna see more of her, because reasons.
* The funniest character in the series IMHO? FUKUTOMI. Watch the omakes of the first two seasons and you'll understand why.
* Am I the only one who thinks that Toudou is a good dancer? I mean, he was trained in traditional dance, right?
* Imaizumi is a great representation of all closet otakus.
* I'm one of the victims of wrong impression that Makishima is a bad person because of his looks. I humbly apologize. From then, I saw the light, he's the patron saint of awkwardness. He is MY patron saint.
* Okay, Toudou is, obviously, my number one. But for whatever reason since I watched Limit Break, I’m sinning against him because of JUNTA GODDAMN TESHIMA.
* Speaking of Teshima, is there really such thing as an ABACUS COMPETITION? That was as per their Wiki.
* Speaking of Limit Break, TO OMIT THAT DEATH MATCH SCENE BETWEEN TESHIMA AND URAKUBO IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. And to make it worse, Urakubo in the anime was denoted to a mere side character. I’ve read the manga, and I’m so brokenhearted.
* What’s more heartbreaking? Where the hell are our dose of omakes every end of the episode!? We finally had a glimpse of its eyecatch -- AT WHAT COST!?
* My sincerest apologies for not reblogging translated recent chapters due to lack of time, but GOD BLESS ROKUDAI. I would love to see him grow as the series go on.
* So knowing that Izumida et. al. already graduated, do you think they will have their own Spare Bike chapter? I believe they should.
* I believe Watanabe-sensei has a knack of molding side characters into MCs one day. Perfect examples of this redemption technique are Teshima, Aoyagi and Kuroda -- to the point that they even underwent a makeover!
* Midousuji has the most number of different hairstyles in the entire series -- so far.
* Have you ever wondered if Hakogaku even had a manager like Miki?
* As much as I’m having doubts about Limit Break at this moment, I still hope they would show the last ‘episode’ where Team Sohoku would go back to Akihabara and then go to a karaoke to celebrate.
There might be a lot more in store but these are my thoughts right now and I hope you don’t mind me blabbering about this because in all honesty, I regret not knowing about this eight years ago.

Don't mind me, just a casual nitpicky rant about Yowamushi Pedal under the cut lul
OK I am going to preface this by saying that I love Yowamushi Pedal. It’s one of my favorite animes, let alone favorite sports anime. Also everything I am about to say is completely my opinion for (what that’s worth loooooooool) so please don’t take it overly seriously it’s just my dumb rambles.
Anyway I AM VERY DISAPOINTED BY SO MANY THINGS IN YOWAMUSHI PEDAL SEASON 4 (that I finally watched after literal years) AND I AM UPSET.
· First things first, I just really miss the seniors. Even though I love Teshima and Aoyagi, and ofc I love Onoda, Naruko, and Imaizumi, I personally feel like Kaburagi and Danchiku are kind of lacking. I don’t dislike them (Kaburagi did take a while to grow on me tho) but compared to the characters we lost they just aren’t as good. They do not fill the hole in my heart.
· Speaking of Kaburagi, I get it’s for the lolz but it low key pisses me off that he doesn’t realize how much Aoyagi sacrifices for him and helps him. It’s frustrating. Give my boy the credit he deserves >:(
· And speaking of Aoyagi, though I adore him, I am so sorry… His inflation power is just really really bad. It looks dumb as hell. I get that it’s paying homage to Tadokoro but like… It’s just SO stupid looking. :( And I know Yowapeda is full of tons of silly and bizarre things (it’s one of the things that endears me to the series) but that is just bad.
· I am not upset about Sohoku not winning the first days sprint. I think it makes sense story wise, Sohoku won the first day sprint last year yadda yadda. I also get that with Hakone losing last year, they would be even tougher and more formidable this year, so I am not mad about that either. What I am mad about is how much the author is SHITTING ON SOHOKU. TWO WHOLE DAYS GO BY. THAT IS THREE RACES A DAY AND THEY DON’T WIN ONE OF THEM. IN TWO DAYS. WHO IS THIS SERIES ABOUT AGAIN??? Like I get it Hakone is out for blood but like, SOHOKU HAS BEEN WORKING THEIR ASSES OFF TOO TF???
· I was heartbroken over Teshima’s loss. It was so fucking frustrating. Like, you spent all this time focusing on him and his struggles, how he is surrounded by all these team mates with natural talent and sport super powers, but he himself is just a normal guy who had to bust his ass to be worthy of his position and riding with his team mates. And he DID work his ass off! He sacrificed so much of himself to be in the inner high!!! And instead of it being like this uplifting moment of ‘hard work paid off, I won!’ HE LOST. And not only did he lose, he poured so much or himself into taking the mountain that he totally wore himself out, almost passed out until Onoda caught him, and was just like useless for the rest of the day. And then, at the start of next day’s race, he became a burden weighing down the team a bit because he was still worn out from day one. I hate it I hate it I hate it.
· And did you have to have hit us with the ‘is it really so wrong for me to want to win once?’ dialogue??? Bro… :(
· Then after this we have fucking Imazumi working with Hakone to get back to Naruko and Midousuji, and he like… totally helps Hakone by pulling for them and shit in hopes of ‘using’ them to get to Naruko, but he ends up being used and Sohoku loses that ending line as well to HAKONE. WHO HE ACTIVELY HELPED. :) It’s fine.
· SPEAKING of Midousuji I just… Don’t understand why his team puts up with him? At all. I really liked him first inter high (especially talking about his childhood and getting a glimpse at the more ‘human’ side of him) but like… Bro is straight up running his team like he’s a dictator. And he’s not even the captain, but he gets to make all the shots? He’s mean as hell to everyone on his team, uses them, and treats them like shit. I’m sorry, but if his rude ass was on a team I wanted to join I would a. not join at all, b. kick him out, or c. start a new team without him. :) I get that he is super talented and the main reason Kyofushi does as well as the do but like goddamn… He sure as hell isn’t making this fun at all. Or rewarding. Why would you want to help HIM win? At this point that’s what it is, not the team winning, just this stank ass who treats you like shit and calls you a Zaku. No fucking thanks!!!
· On that note, why the fuck would the audience react the way they did when Midousuji gave his winning speech??? Again, he was just being a mean bitch and rude af on the stand to the other competitors. If anything, everyone should have been uncomfortable or the MC should have taken the mic away. No one would go to this highschool race, see this kid acting like a total fuck to his competition and be like yeah! He’s right! Only winners matter and everyone else is trash! Fuck sportsmanship and being a team player!!! Like NO. As my boyfriend said, “This must be the same group of people that go to Trump rallies” asdfghjkl
· While on the topic of rude, Yuto is a far cry from Hayato ell oh ell. Sorry kid, but Running people off the road with your bike is not showing how superior and talented you are. It just shows that you are acting like an ass.
· I am not mad about Ashikiba becoming the mountain king because I love him and he deserves it, but I am mad that Onoda had to put up with Yuto’s bs during that whole race.
· And then, we get down to the end of day two. Sohoku hasn’t won shit, but it’s on Imaizumi, the ace, so there is a good chance for success FINALLY. It’s his time to shine. He’s in perfect form. He’s riding on the hopes of his team, up against Midousuji. This is the perfect opportunity for redemption. After all the prev years long bs Midousuji has put him through. After all the pain and loss Sohoku has gone through. After Naruko, my darling bean boy who has never done anything wrong ever, gives his ALL and fucking drags the team and Imaizumi to the finish line to get the win…
· You guessed it! He loses! To Midou-FUCKING-Suji!!!
· I just… Like was this fun to write and draw? Because I am not having a fun time watching it. > : (
· I get that they should struggle. I get other teams are super strong. But why the fuck does Sohoku, our boys, have to be the only ones struggling WITHOUT any payoff??? Not one win???
· Also I had the tiniest bit of hope that hey. Maybe Aoyagi and Teshima will take the final win and trophy for the final day??? Maybe??? Please???
· Then Aoyagi gets hurt so… Highly doubt that
· (I am still praying by some miracle Teshima wins overall because HE DESERVES IT but I am not holding my breath… Any manga readers do not spoil but please pray for me lul)
· So I just watched all this, and was like wait… The season is almost over??? The race isn’t finished and Sohoku hasn’t won anything! When does the next season come out???
· Not until Oct 2022. Which is already MONTHS away, but MAJOR condolences for my squad that watched this when it aired in 2018 and just had to wait for YEARS with this burden of loss on them, I am so sorry. :((((
· And my final major complaint is Kishigami. He makes me uncomfortable and honestly someone should have reported him for sexual assault and groping. Look, you can touch whoever’s muscle’s you want but why do you have to be so weird about it??? And please, just get consent first damn.
· (He should have copped a feel on Andy and Frank tho come on bro he was letting you and they are celebrities at this point)
This is nitpicky I know but I just wanted to vent because again… I love Yowapeda and I am only upset in the first place because my heart hurts. :,)
Let’s end on a happy note tho! Things I loved about this season:
· Any time I saw Naruko. Love him.
· Any time I saw Teshima (even when it hurts). Love him. So proud of our captain!
· Anytime I saw Makishima. Truly the best boy.
· Koga!!! I wish he could be more prominent and I wish he got to race, but I love him!
· Tsugimoto, who I used to not like at all, has become very charming. He and his brother are very cute together.
· Mrs. Sakamichi coming thru with the BEST BOY hats and giving one to Manami, which he wears and loves. Adorable.
· Ashikiba as a whole. I love everything about him. His attitude, his looks, his pink bike, how he’s ditzy, his love of Mother Nature. Just an all-around great boy. And I loved the scene with him and Yuto with Yuto coming into his own, it was very nice.
· But the BEST moment was my boy Aoyagi bringing back Kaburagi with the power of Love Hime’s first OP. Singing his lil soul out, not giving two fucks that everyone was laughing, dead serious the whole time. What a fucking champ.
Anyway forgive this conniption fit I just have a lot of feelings and want the next season to come out. TAT
(Also, as always, all the openings and endings both songs and animation SLAPPED heavily.)
#please dont take this overly seriously#I just have a lot of feels#yowamushi pedal#yowapeda#yowamushi pedal new generation#venting#flapping my wings

ok so context: i like going through the comments whenever i watch ywpd on crunchyroll because i think it's funny. BUT ppl talk too much shit abt teshima during new gen & glory line. i Am Here to defend my baby 4life
(disclaimer: spoilers for the first two days of ih2. also very informal and unstructured just my thoughts)
i DO NOT think all the faults of sohoku during the second interhigh can be entirely attributed to any incompetency in teshima's leadership, rather there were a lot of issues that'd be left for him to deal with when the other third years graduated. like i love teshima as a captain but i feel like there was only so much he, aoyagi, and koga could do to fill the space of kinjou tadokoro and makishima .. i don't think it was any kind of incompetence on their part but i think they left too much room for like conflict between the members especially during the races. for instance kabu and aoyagi arguing about kabu being a sprinter, or imaizumi and naruko fighting being like "theyre gonna figure out we have never ridden together!!!!!" and then kuroda realized 😭 the graduated third years were obviously a huge building block of the team having competed in interhigh since their first year, so they were better able to nurture a stabler relationship not only between themselves, but with the rest of the team. their reliability was something of a very comforting force for their underclassmen and the fallout of their loss was very obvious especially with onoda when maki left .. so at the end of the day i think that kind of "downfall" for sohoku was something a bit unavoidable as it'd be much harder to build a sturdy team up like that again- yet i don't think it would necessarily all be aoyagi and teshima's burden as all of the members have a responsibility to hold up their own weight and manage the relationships they have w the other teammates maturely for the sake of their team's well being. i DO think however that creating a space where they could always be competitive w each other and allow more aggressive attitudes between each other (particularly when kaburagi became a regular) played a part in the conflicts during IH. ofc there were other conflicts but these are the ones that have been most prominent in my mind and WHYYY not all of it is teshima's fault and why he's a lovely captain actually he's the best and i'll defend him till i die !!!! yeah thats it that's the word dump

when i was a teen really into yowamushi pedal i loved basically all the characters (with the exception of hating machimiya and just being like. Eh. about some kyofushi characters who got barely any screen time just bc i didnt know much about them. but ig that didnt stop me with minor hakogaku and sohoku characters?? but. anyway) i just thought they were all so fun and just like. almost every character was so incredibly autistic imo.
but yeah bc i was so passionate about so many characters it was funny bc like almost any character if someone insulted them i’d be sad and try to defend their merits kdfjghfd. and bc of that i think i mostly ended up talking about fandom stuff with people who loved the more underrated characters
but really if i had to choose any character as an absolute favorite from yowapeda even if i tried to disproportionately focus on underrated characters to make up for a lack of appreciation by other people in the end if i really had to choose my favorite was probably manami tbh... like every character was so fun but my god on top of being fun manami sangaku was such an incredibly easy character to project onto as a chronically ill and very neurodivergent 15 year old
its also just funny to me bc so many people i knew then who were obsessed with manami/manami kinnies also were into/kinned a lot of really edgy incredibly neurodivergent anime murder boys from media i wasn’t familiar with then. but manamis not a murderer or doing anything harmful to others or even an antagonist really. literally they are just some goofy kid and yet they went so easily with that kin archetype for some reasons dfkjgd
#cpost#yp blogging#i didnt kin manami to be clear . but like. they were heavily relatable and projected on so

Not going to lie, Izumida is a hundred times more interesting to me when he’s sparring and snarking back and forth with Teshima, rather than being a one-note “ABS ABS ABS” joke.
Also:
Izumida: Heh, so you’re not so great with the cycling up front, aren’t you. It’s like you’re not particularly talented, or something.
Teshima: Yep. Weak. Super ordinary. That’s whole schtick. That and being an evil master-mind.
Izumida: [shocked glance]
Teshima: Oh, you were insulting me. Oh, you sweet innocent naïve fool. No one hates me more than me, JOKE’S ON YOU.
#pedal blogging#aaahhhh but izumida and teshima as the rival captains really does give me a lot of joy#they're both dealing with so much pressure#izumida to reclaim hakone's forrmer glory#teshima in defending sohoku's champion status#i'm starting to see why this is literally the one sports anime where the main protagonist actually won the nationals first time round#it gives it such an interesting slant for the next season#rather than to keep on striving for victory#instead how to deal with loss after a high#i love it#and i love these two insecure boys desperately wanting to win at all costs

Bookshelf Briefs 2/1/20
Anonymous Noise, Vol. 18 | By Ryoko Fukuyama | VIZ Media – It took a while for me to get into Anonymous Noise, and I still wouldn’t call it a favorite exactly, but it must be said that this final volume made me verklempt on a few occasions. I particularly liked that Nino and Momo getting back together is not the main focus, because that was so not what I was most invested in with this series. Instead, we get Nino telling Yuzu she wants to sing his songs forever, and him realizing that means even more than winning her heart. There are some awesome concert scenes—that full-page image of Yuzu singing!—and a sense of joyous confidence as they contemplate their musical future together. Too, I appreciated that the final appearance of Yuzu and Nino wordlessly confirmed that, yes, he did eventually grow taller than her. I think I might miss this series now that it’s over. – Michelle Smith
Giant Killing, Vol. 18 | By Masaya Tsunamoto and Tsujitomo | Kodansha Comics (digital only) – The second half of the season has begun! Tatsumi’s strategy going forward is to foster bettter communication and flexibility, so he’s been having the players swap positions, giving chances to non-regulars, etc. The best thing about this series is how Tatsumi has truly earned the players’ trust, and now the team feels more cohesive, each player secure in the knowledge that Tatsumi is looking out for them on an individual level and will help them to improve. Well, mostly everyone. Tsubaki is getting frustrated with his “terrible” playing and is pretty much useless after making a poor decision (while playing an unfamiliar defensive role) that leads to an ETU player’s injury. I really like that, even if they lose, they’re not a high school team trying to reach Nationals, so there’s still hope for the season. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Giant Killing? Verily, I do. – Michelle Smith
Haikyu!!, Vol. 36 | By Haruichi Furudate | Viz Media – I think I forgot to review the 35th volume of Haikyu!!. No doubt it was very good and also filled with volleyball. As is this 36th volume. It is a credit to the author that he has kept the games interesting, and I can easily distinguish between the major adversaries, which is more than I can say for some manga. There’s a few more flashbacks, some really killer moves… a lot of people jump high in the air… I may have to wait till the game finishes to review another volume, though, as I just can’t keep typing up “this was really cool volleyball” over and over again without stretching things out like I’m a contestant on Just a Minute. At least the series is ending in Japan in a week or two, so we’ll soon catch up. -Sean Gaffney
Jujutsu Kaisen, Vol. 1 | By Gege Akutami | Viz Media – I forget where I first heard of Jujutsu Kaisen, but the general impression I’ve garnered from others has largely been positive. Now having read the first volume myself, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the manga. However, it’s clear that the series still has some room to grow before it truly distinguishes itself. Jujutsu Kaisen is Akutami’s first long-form work which may partly explain why the series comes across as being so heavily influenced by other manga. But even while its ideas aren’t particularly new and the tropes that are used are well-worn, the specific and sometimes seemingly disparate combination of them in Jujutsu Kaisen has a sort of quirky charm—which is admittedly kind of a strange description for what is essentially a horror manga about demon hunting. There is darkness, seriousness, and drama in Jujutsu Kaisen, but many of the characters tend to be likeable goofballs. – Ash Brown
MabuSasa, Vol. 1 | By Nanase | Kodansha Comics (digital only) – With its cute cover and male lead who looks like a scary delinquent but who is actually kind, I thought MabuSasa was going to be a sweet love story akin to Honey So Sweet. I was very wrong. It’s not advertised as such anywhere that I could find, but this is actually a 4-koma manga. True, there aren’t titles for the strips, but the page layout fits, as does the sensibility. Mabuchi is indeed a sympathetic character, but he’s surrounded by one-note caricatures. Most infuriating is Akira Sasagawa (the Sasa of the title), our fujoshi heroine who absolutely refuses to listen when Mabuchi swears that he’s not in a relationship with his best friend, Sota Ando. She concocts BL scenarios at every opportunity, even when Mabuchi meets and plays with her little brother. All of this is meant to be funny, I’m assuming, but I didn’t smile once. – Michelle Smith
Yowamushi Pedal, Vol. 13 | By Wataru Watanabe | Yen Press – Sheesh, the Inter-High still isn’t over in this volume. It literally takes 300 pages to go 3.5 kilometers! In that time, there are a couple of big matchups. The first is Imaizumi versus Midousuji, where the former is bolstered by the power of friendship while the latter pulls off new and even more nightmarish contortions while scoffing at the notion that friends are anything more than useless. Imaizumi emerges victorious but a crack in his bike’s frame means that Sohoku’s hopes now rest with Onoda, who goes head to head with Manami. Probably my favorite parts were the reactions of the Sohoku third years to the announcement that Onoda is still in the running to take the whole thing. 500 meters remain at the end of the volume. Next time for sure, right? – Michelle Smith

As the numbers climbed up with each episode watched, I started to lose more hope that the second Interhigh would be finished and I was right.
I just finished Glory Line and am aching for more. This is the first sports anime I’ve seen that continues after the thirds years win an important tournament and graduate.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with new characters added but overall I’m satisfied and have come out rooting for characters I barely paid attention to in the last series(looking at you Sugimoto, Teshima and Aoyagi).
Onoda and Makishima are still my absolute favorites but I’m glad to add more characters to the list. Kaburagi is such a clueless kid that he annoys me and makes me laugh at the same time. Imaizumi continues to usurp my expectations of him being a Koroko, Haru, Sasuke type of character and I love that he’s nothing like them. Naruko is just so great and I’m glad they gave him a different role cause I was worried about confusing him with Kaburagi (all the hair colors out there and Sohoku gets two redheads).
I just love them all so much!
I guess the thing I like the most about this direct sequel of New Generation and Glory Line, is that it’s different and doesn’t follow the exact same beats as the first two series. And as much as seeing the third years return for support gave me a nostalgic feeling, I can appreciate seeing the next generation grow along with them and feel pride in how they’ve grown.
Four seasons and Sohoku has come a long way and I’m looking forward to continuing the story in the (still ongoing!) manga and hope one day Season five will be announced. (Seriously, they just had a live action movie and the stage plays are still going, this series is obviously still very popular)
Until then...
Love Hime!!!

i need to rant
Sooo I know that here on tumblr there are like 3 people who still read yowapeda but, this last chapter. Chapter 542. I'm going to be honest, even though I knew it was going to happen, I hated that Onoda won again. No, I didn't hate that Sohoku won, that was actually what I wanted to happen. If they didn't, they'd be stuck in that 'underdog' status for yet another year even though they aren't really. It was the fact that Onoda won against Manami, in the exact same way as last year. The fact that Naruko dropped out the exact same way as last year and basically never got any sort of revenge for the way he lost against Midousuji. The fact that so many things were just reused, particularly on the third day. It felt like lazy writing rather than 'parallels' (and let's be honest, it probably was). I also hated that Junta's win was taken away from him for the sake of Onoda.
However, I absolutely loved this chapter, partly because I'm sensitive but mostly because I'm really attached to these characters. Onoda and Imaizumi were the only ones left. To tell you the truth, I've never paid much attention to their relationship because I was mostly caught up with Imaizumi/Naruko, or T2, or TouMaki, or the main trio that I feel like I ignored their bond. These two started out so differently. Imaizumi is one of the characters that has grown the most, been developed the most: he's nothing like how he used to be. He would never sprint on his bike just to hug Onoda and congratulate him and tell him how proud he is. He wouldn't even think of letting Onoda get that win in the first place. He's never looked as happy as he did in this chapter. And it feels really symbolic that Onoda's very first encounter with road racing has cultivated into this moment, into this really strong friendship between these two characters. At the same time it makes me feel bitter that Naruko doesn't get the same treatment but oh well
As a character driven story, Yowamushi Pedal is fantastic, and it's the relationships between different characters that draws people in, particularly during the first Inter High, which was a lot better than the second one (and less stressful jesus fuck). Not the plot, which apart from the races being really hype, is nothing special. I still don't like the way this Inter High ended, and I still believe that Watanabe should've ended it after the first IH despite Junta being my favorite - because let's be honest, apart from T2 that everyone rooted for, people were mostly anticipating the appearances of the previous third years. But I am definitely satisfied and moved by the last chapter, and while I'm not as hyped for this manga anymore, moments like those are why it has a special place in my heart.
