Whenever I write characters in general I try my best not to mischaracterize them too much. Their canon personalities/aspects is what made me love them in the first place and I don't want to stray too far from that..

I also get anxious when I don't interpret a character well enough not because I'm scared what others might say but literally because it's for my own sake.

I don't rlly mind nor care too much if people mischaracterize whether on purpose or on accident– people should just have fun aslong as no harm's done.

The first comic takes place before the two started dating. Shrimpo is really really really bad at expressing emotions other than anger and frustration, so anytime he tries to express anything, he just blurts out his feelings without thinking. Then he gets second-hand embarrassment lol. Glisten was pretty aware that Shrimpo liked him before, but he's pretending to be surprised to make Shrimpo "feel better" (also to mildly embarrass him lol).

Also, I think that Shrimpo and Glisten bonding over hating Finn is very based and true. They need that autistic man to SHUT UP/silly

I think Shrimpo and Finn are very cousin coded. Not close enough to be siblings but definitely got some familial genes going on imo (plz don't shoot me Shrimpbowl shippers🙏🙏🙏) Doesn't stop Shrimpo from being violent towards Finn tho, and Finn does nothing to deter it lol (he finds it funny). Also, Glisten throws no punches bc he doesn't want to get his hands dirty.

The second image takes place the day after this post lol. Shrimpo is recovering from a hangover covered in lipstick kisses and super conflicting emotions and Finn is NOT helping.

On the other end, I've been thinking about Shimmer a lot lol. So here is a doodle of her with her "sister aunt" Toodles, and Pebbles.

They all get along super well. In this pic, Toodles is like 12ish and Shimmer is 4 (but her weird biology made her age up to like 7 here). Pebble is pebble, that's all you need to know.

Also, I was in a horror-ish mood earlier so here are some Twisteds <33 (below cut cuz kinda scary):

I love you angst comfort. My sib pointed out while playing one day that Shrimpo looked traumatized as a Twisted, which like, fair, but it make me think.

Glisten: "They say you are not here anymore. But I think you are."

I had this silly idea that Twisted Shrimpo was infected by Dandy personally, and that whole conflict got Shrimpo's lower jaw ripped off. He is very violent and volatile, and very hard to calm down. But, when he runs into a twisting Glisten alone and scared, he comforts him (to the best of his ability).

Since Glisten is still able to be somewhat conscious, he realizes that the Twisteds are actually not completely gone like he originally thought, and it helps him keep his sanity longer, hoping for a way out for everyone.

Willpower is a crazy thing.

On the complete opposite note, I love you horrifying freak of ichor child.

Since Shimmer was made from the ichor itself with no sort of skeleton or solid foundation, her condition is very unstable. And the problem is that her body is affected by her emotions. On a bad day, she can suffer from lots of pain and her body literally melting away. That's when she hides out and waits for her body to stabilize again.

When she completely twists, her body completely falls apart, becoming a puddle of ichor on the ground. If she was an encounterable twisted, she would work like Sprout's puddle root things, but easier to maneuver around and avoid. Also, her antenna glow.

“Shrimpo, you’re pathetic”

This was based on the note found in Shrimpo’s room! I have so many theories and speculations on everything in his room it’s actually making me go crazy

So I have so many things to talk about —

Firstly, the punching bags and holes in the walls. Shrimpo’s hatred towards everyone is always usually verbally, but in his room there’s proof that it’s physically too. This leads me to believe a lot of things:

— Shrimpo is somewhat strong, at least strong enough to break through the walls.

— Shrimpo tries to at least control his anger. He could easily beat someone but he limits himself by only being a verbal bully. He must relieve all his more aggressive emotions in private in his room.

— The wardrobe in his room is partially blocking holes he presumably made. This could either mean that he is embarrassed or he’s trying to hide it to avoid getting in trouble.

Overall, it’s clear that Shrimpo’s anger is a lot more than people might have expected

Secondly, the papers. There’s plenty of other toons that also have crumpled paper in their rooms but to me Shrimpo is the most interesting. Shrimpo is definitely not the type who writes, but the note and trash says otherwise. A few things I immediately think of is:

— Shrimpo can write, but everything he writes is always deemed “not good enough” by him and thrown away.

— Shrimpo is either willingly writing things or being forced to write by others (possibly as a required thing by directors and such).

— The note on his desk can tell a lot about him. The fact that he only writes about the things he hates is expected, but the way it continues is more interesting. He repeatedly writes “hate” over and over and it gets bigger. To me, this looks like Shrimpo having a mental breakdown. It’s not uncommon for someone who’s venting out their frustrations to repeat a phrase or word, but the fact that it gets bigger makes me think Shrimpo is writing it more desperately. He could have been writing to relieve stress but it only made him more frustrated, causing a slippery slope into a terrible episode. If this was in writing and not text, I expect his note to be sloppier than it seems.

— Shrimpo’s discarded paper can mean anything, but the thing I immediately think of is ideas or failed writing. Someone in a server I’m in brought up the idea that the reason why Shrimpo has only posters of himself in his room is because he’s reminding himself of all his flaws. Maybe his writing helps him cope with that or he’s trying to come up with ideas of how to be better.

Shrimpo’s room also has many knocked over furniture. He has multiple desks, traffic cones, trash cans, and a coat hanger.

— This supports my theory that Shrimpo is a lot more aggressive in private. He knocks over furniture out of frustration, imagine someone flipping a table because they got upset at something.

— Shrimpo’s room could have been a storage room. It seems to be more bland (could just be Shrimpo not liking decorating) and it has a lot of useless things. Really, the only thing that makes sense for a room is the desk, wardrobe, and bed.

— A confusing thing to me is the airhorns in his room. Shrimpo could be using these or they just came with the room. If he did use them, it would probably be on other toons as a “screw you” signal.

Sorry I talked so much, usually I don’t like doing this but I needed to yap for a good 5 minutes about my favorite toon. I love you Shrimpo!! No one could make me dislike you!! I will make many, many more theories for you. . . .

♡ Getting him to just not hate you is a challenge all its own, so if you're in a relationship with this shrimp, it means you're probably gonna need patience. Like, a lot of patience.

♡ But, once you're past that, it's surprisingly not the worst!

♡ He's not really used to being friendly with someone, much less being romantic, so he's gonna be... Awkward at times

♡ He probably talks about you really highly, but he does so in the same sort of condescending way he does about himself

♡ Shrimpo really loves you, even though he's bad at showing it sometimes. He's really trying, please be patient with him!

You blinked, looking up from what you had been doing to be met with the flushed frowning face of your partner.

Shrimpo glared at you, though his eyes held no malice; If anything, there was something expectant in them.

You stared back, searching through your brain for what possibly he could want. Seconds passed with nothing but silence between you two, and from an outside perspective, one could easily assume you two were locked in a standoff.

It clicked after a bit. He wanted to cuddle!

You asked him as such with a smile, offering him a seat beside you.

He grumbled something you couldn't make out as he moved to slide in next to you. He didn't object when you wrapped your arms around him, nor did he when you gently pulled him against you.

He sat there for a moment, content to simply bask in your warmth, before slowly returning your embrace.

His grip was tight, just enough so to be secure but not uncomfortable.

...You weren't going anywhere for a while. You didn't mind though. You were happy in each others' arms, even though one of you probably wouldn't ever admit that.

You mumbled out an "I love you" which was met with a huff and a "I HATE HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU TOO."

With that, you both fell into a comfortable silence, which would soon become snores as you drifted off to sleep.

The moon toon here also tends to sleep a little more than the others! Whenever he finds you curled up in your room, eyes closed, slow breathing, and just snoozing away. He happily climbs into bed to rest with you, wrapping his bottom arms wrapped around your waist, upper arms lacing his hands with yours.

At first in the relationship he was a little too shy, he’d give a small smile, a kiss on your head, and then would walk out.

he always makes sure that you have good dreams, he would never intentionally want to cause you harm! Emotionally or physically.

Although, he would get concerned sometimes- why do you sleep so much..? Are you not getting enough rest? Do you not feel well? Is something wrong? He would want you to be okay, but if you assure him that it’s just how you are and it’s just kinda a cycle of tiredness!

He calms down after that, no longer too worried but sometimes he’ll carefully shake you awake juuuust to make sure. If you wake up and stay awake he’ll apologize, just reassure him that it’s fine and you don’t mind! Maybe cuddles for extra reassurance?

The only downside to you sleeping all day is.. your a giant night owl, up all night doing whatever- and when it hits sunrise you waddle either to your own room to rest or Astro’s room to snuggle up with him to go back to go to sleep.

Now he didn’t realize this until one day he got woken up by the fire alarm with all the other toons because you and Cosmo set the kitchen aflame- you and the swiss roll had sheepishly apologized after some of the others scolding and Shrimpo’s yelling of ‘I HATE FIRE!’.

Astro had asked you why you were up and you explained to him that this was actually when you were usually awake! And you just didn’t want to ruin Astro’s sleep schedule so he could hang out with you.

The blue moon had blinked in surprise, it was sweet but at the same time- he didn’t mind, he’d like to be able to spend more time with you, and if that costed a little bit if his own sleep schedule? Then he guessed that was the price.

Although, he did try and help you get rest a normal time so it could be a little healthier. He’s willing to stay up with you always, but he is also going to be making sure a little more effort of a sleep schedule is put forth!

“Starshine.. what are you doing..?” Astro’s soft barely above a whisper voice called out, tilting his at you as the grip on his blanket around him loosened.

“I’m making a bracelet! Scraps has been teaching me!” You chirped back, excited and lively despite the (real) moon hanging in the sky.

“Oh..? Could I see?” He asks.

“Not yet, it’s a surprise silly” you giggled back.

“A surprise? For who..?” Astro hummed.

Turning around, you waddled closer to your boyfriend, you had put the last finishing touches on it. It was a pretty beaded bracelet with a mix of blues and purples, as well as the occasional pale yellow bead added with a moon charm that had a hanging heart attached!

“For you! I had asked scraps to teach me how to make bracelets so I could make you one..” you squeaked, bashful. Holding the bracelet out to him so he could take it.

He blinks in surprise.. you made this for.. him? His cheeks heated into a pretty sapphire blue, making his starry freckles glow softly, he looked like he had the night sky on his cheeks! It made you melt slightly inside, your own face feeling hot and your heart beating faster at how star-struck he looked.

“You.. made this? ..for me?” He whispered, carefully taking the beaded bracelet holding it like it was glass instead or plastic. He looked down at it taking every detail in, his tails wagging much like a dog’s would but that was a really rare sight for him!

“Well.. yeah! It’s to let you know how much I love you! And even though I sleep a lot that doesn’t mean your any less important to me, I love you so much I’d be fine if the sun never came out again if it means I get to keep you here with me!” You tell him, it was a little cheesy yes.. but it was how you felt!

“..I love you to starlight..” he whispered back, gently slipping the bracelet on and walking towards you to embrace you tightly, he smelled like vanilla and he oddly cool to the touch but you wouldn’t have it any other way as you wrapped your arms around him as well.

“I love you Astro.”

“I’ll love you forever my moonlight.. until the stars stop shining and even more after that..” he whispered back, gently squeezing you as he burst his face into your head.

Shrimpo and you butt heads a lot literally. Brawls aren’t new for you two, most of the other toons swear you two are actually trying to kill one another. However behind the scenes, yes Shrimpo still hates everyone…but…he tolerates you. When you two argue alone it normally ends in “SHRIMPO HATES YOU….AND NEVER WANTS TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!” Then about 5 minutes later he comes back in asking if you wanna watch TV with him. He never really means that he hates you. He doesn’t…he thinks? Shrimpo just knows he hates you a little less than everyone else! He loves watching shitty reality TV with you, or Hell’s Kitchen. He likes making fun of the people in them with you. One of the only times he’s ever really smiled. DONT TELL ANYONE ABOUT IT THO!!! Got his though guy persona to keep in tacked! You two bounce of each other well, similar tempers, similar personalities, everyone thinks you two despise each other, when you don’t! Two peas in a pod!

When you two met, you were a newbie. A lot of the toons surrounded you, wanting to see who you were.

Of course, you were shy. There’s 17 different toons looking at you. One of them is looking at you with a frown.

“I HATE BURGERS!!”

You jumped a little, because of his sudden abrupt voice.

"That's Shrimpo."

“He’s kinda mean.”

“Kinda is an understatement. Also it’s kind of, not kinda.”

“Potato potato Rodger.”

After Shrimpo’s hateful statement, you just stared. You two made eye contact, and he looked away first! So you won!

You smiled at him, and he looked away again.

A day after that, you thought—

‘Maybe Shrimpo could be my friend?’

You hung out with Shrimpo, a lot. He couldn’t understand why you weren’t going away.

Why don’t you hate him like everybody else?

As days passed, he tolerated your presence more and more. Like not yelling at you as much. Somehow managing to be less of a hater, and him continuously losing ‘staring contests’.

You could convince him to do arts and crafts. Convince him to hang with the other toons, convince him to not bang his head on the machines. Say, why does he do that?

“... I DON’T… Know..”

Oh okay.

The other toons noticed obviously! Have you seen how calm Shrimpo was around them? Only when you’re around though. When you’re gone it seems like he’s more angry compared to before meeting you.

Dandy was walking around, looking for you and Shrimpo.

"Shrimpo!!"

He was walking around, with his hands on his hips.

‘Where did those gremlins go?’

He looked into a smaller room, seeing you.

'Oh!'

You were facing Shrimpo, the both of you sitting on your legs. With you holding his hands.

“Why.. Do you like me so much?”

“Well, it’s just that I was hoping for you to not hate me. So it resulted in me hanging out with you a lot. Then the more I hung out with you the more I started to like you.”

“It led to love, I guess. The other toons might not like you but I do. I like you a lot actually.”

Looking up from his hands, you two make eye contact.

“I love you, Shrimpo.”

You heard a gasp, but it wasn’t Shrimpo’s.

Sensing who it was, you got up, walking over to…

“Dandy!”

"Hey you..!! The toons sent me to look for you guys!" (That’s a lie, he did it himself)

“Oh wow really! That’s nice, it’d be more nice if you left!”

"... Yeah alright, just meet up with us in less than five alright?"

Dandy walked away. Mainly happy because his theories are right, you two do love each other! He thinks…

You could see his little feet hiding behind the wall.

You came back to him, holding his hands once more. There he was, red as ever.

You’d think that if he got any more red he’d cook himself.

PDA is a no no, it’s not like an ego thing or like embarrassment thing(That’s another lie, he gets really embarrassed) he just feels off about public displays of affection

He gets pretty cuddly in private, probably the little spoon, but wouldn’t mind switching it

He’s soft around you

It took some time to get him to smile, it happened when you gave him multiple kisses on his face

He was slightly functioning, then blinked away his non functioning self

Before he knew it, he was smiling

You quickly took a picture

Surprisingly, for the rest of the day he was smiling more, not in front of the toons, but just in front of you

He was really clingy too, he hadn’t realized that those kisses were all he needed to be happy and smiling for a day

It’s hard for him to communicate his feelings, you really gotta reel it out of him

He’s very vulnerable in that moment, so try to not make any jokes or else he’ll be mad at you for the rest of the day

One little giggle and he’s out!! Is what he says

amongst the toons i’m not sure. maybe sprout and cosmo? i think of them as primarily best friends who maybe kiss sometimes so maybe not Wholly platonic. dandy and astro Are completely platonic, they were certainly closer before the shutdown and before the ichor operation started though. they were always a bit less dependent on each other than arthur and delilah were though. astro was able to see and acknowledge his best friend’s decline better than arthur could about his.

but as for other Just Regular Platonic relationships i really like: i love finn and shrimpo, shelly and shrimpo, and also toodles and shrimpo in a more sibling-way ! i certainly think shrimpo Doesn’t Like being friendly/showing any sort of platonic Care for anyone, but a lot of the other toons are used to that from him, and finn shelly and toodles can kinda see through him at this point.

i love that shrimpo remembers finn’s sea creature facts, and that he claims he wishes he didn’t. i think it’s cute that in his interaction with shelly he seems to backtrack a little? he says “I HATE YOU” and then she says “me?” he goes “EVERYONE.” “at least it’s not just me?” in my heart he’d stick up for her. she asked for no pickles. a guest at the museum looking at her standee with their kid like “who’s this one again?” and he butts in like “HER NAME IS SHELLY!!!! DONT YOU WATCH THE SHOW?!!!!!” i kinda dislike every shrimpo ship partially bc Aromantic Headcanon and other partially he just doesn’t really seem to vibe with any of them to me idk how to explain it. he’s got some shit to work out first if he were to date. shelly and shrimpo might be the only shrimpo ship i can jive with. and ofc i love the toodles interaction w the “WERE GONNA CRASH!!!” abt toodles expressing being scared of the elevator. horrible brother to her. he sucks i love him
