Hihi!!! I want to learn more about ur TWST OCs!!! Number 12 for both of them perhaps?
12) What is your OC’s favorite event(s), what was their role?
━━━━━━✦ Yuusha - Al'ab Nariya
Yuusha's favorite event was definitely when she, Grim, and others were invited to Al’ab Nariya. Her role there was simply to be a tourist and a guest by the Asims.
It was honestly a welcome break away from NRC for Yuusha. Plus, she loves it whenever she gets invited to hometown events by her friends.
Not only that, the sounds of a bustling marketplace and the diverse tastes of Scalding Sands cuisine gave Yuusha a sense of nostalgia.
Other fun things for Yuusha: Getting to wear the yasamina silk outfits. Seeing Jamil in his outfit. Experiencing Scalding Sands with Grim, Malleus, Cater, and Trey. Meeting Najma. Souvenirs. Dancing and the fireworks.
━━━━━━✦ Yuuna - Beanfest
Beanfest would be Yuuna's favorite event because it finally gave them a chance to be competitive with everyone else since magic wasn’t allowed. Their role is that they are on the farmer’s team with Cater.
Yuuna did not expect it to be the one responsible for touching the harp. It gave them a bit of an ego
It sucked that they still lost though. But Yuuna had to admit that Jack’s abilities were absolutely commendable, so they couldn’t even be mad. Just a tad bit disappointed in themselves that they were SO close.
Beanfest was so exciting and thrilling for Yuuna overall. They would love to do it again.
thank you so much for the ask, anon!! this was fun to answer! :D feel free to ask still! (twst oc questionnaire)

Hi! I read your TMNT 2012 separated au that you made with ellestrade and it really gave me brainworms so I wrote a small one-shot for it! The characters kinda ended up writing themselves haha.
anyways, wanted to share it with you and also make sure that you're okay with it. Not sure how you feel about other people taking inspiration from you ideas, so if you would like me to take it down, just let me know!
Thanks for sharing such fun ideas. Here's the post (I've also tagged you in it but sometimes tags are weird and don't always show. Also its on my fandom specific sideblog, but I am the same person haha)
Gotta love those brain worms! (Ironic statement from a 2012 viewpoint, actually-) HOLY CHALUPA, BRAIN WORMS IN THIS AU UNIVERSE, WAIT WAIT ACTUALLY WAIT-
*background rambles and spazzing*
Okay, I’m back.
I’m always a-okay with whatever fan things anyone wants to create with inspiration from something I made or helped make. As long as it isn’t containing some stamp that says “this I deem canon” when neither me (nor my partner) deemed it canon, no one ever has to worry with me getting upset over some story/comic/art.
I’m going to give some thoughts and I want to disclaimer.
When I discuss my thoughts on your POV of events in the AU, I will never, in any way, intend to diss or attack the story. I think the flow was excellent and Raph’s analysis of the events occurring was intriguing. I loved it! And nothing I say will be a statement otherwise.
But, since I have a distinct inability to keep my mouth shut when it comes to turtles and you asked, I have thoughts 🧐
My brain is now turning and ya’ll have to deal.
Characterization:
Donnie: Much distrust. Much sass. A strong sense of duty to defend his brethren turtles who don’t deserve it but he’s doing it anyway.
Very on point. Much approval 👌
Mikey: Could not be more perfect. I love him. Sweet soul ✨
Leo: He’s a bit less… Forceful. Cold and calculating. Than I envision.
I’d imagine that he had to learn to shut feelings down in order to survive. Fidgeting/smiling/visibly hesitating is out of the question. Staying in Shredder’s graces meant learning to play the game. His silence is what earns Raph the ability to be loud. The only times that he’s himself is when him and Raph are alone, outside of the sight of cameras, or when someone in is danger and fear/fury overwhelms all else. He seems bland to outsiders and it takes the Hamato brothers a while to see that that he’s just a scared little boi at heart that’s just trying his best in a cruel world.
He’s also set in his beliefs, so he’s going to assume that they’re being tormented mentally, if not physically. There’s no place in his mind that wonders if they were actually safer elsewhere.
I do like your POV, though. Plenty for me to play with.
Raph:
He’s ABSOLUTELY the first to question the differences between how Shredder treats them and how Splinter treats their brothers. He doesn’t jump the gun, but as devoted as he is, he’s never really liked Shredder. I love the implications that he’s been filing away concerns subconsciously and his brain keeps poking him like “HELLO?!”
He’s very deep. I can’t decide how I feel about that 🤔
Shredder would have wanted to fan that temper into something unforgiving and vile. Or course, that doesn’t mean he stops being a sensitive soul. It could… Have something to do with Shredder manipulating him into being angry when he wills it (basically all the time) and solemn and still when he doesn’t (such as during lectures, punishments, etc).
His brain registers this situation as one where he’s not meant to be loud and angry, and so he’s kinda… Shut down. Sassy, but mellow. Processing. Adapting. Letting what happens happen because he’s not meant to stop it.
It’s a reason that Leo gets so defensive when punishments come into play. It forces Raph to feel small. It make him vulnerable.
HOLY MOTHER OF MUTATIONS- I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS NEW TAKE ON THE AU @ellestrade TELL ME IF I’M ONTO SOMETHING
Anyway, commentary:
“in one of Takeō's strategy books he couldn't care less about”
It’s like Space Heroes. He claims so and YET he read, recalls, AND clearly has DEBATED the passage so I call sus vibes.
I get giddy when I think of Takeō discovering Space Heroes-
“Junkō and Kōta— or Donnie and Mikey, whatever false name they’d been given—”
My brain made connections. I don’t know if it was intended, but I always believe that they knew them by Shredder’s names through the beginning of season one, end of season one/beginning of season two they were associating them as both, and then by the time that the City is under attack, they’ve adapted to using their real names. (But the Saki brothers still keep their Foot names.)
So, now I assume this is somewhere in that middle plot.
Fun little Easter egg~
“Takeō and Akihitō were the offense, and Donnie and Mikey were the defense” “They held their own. In fact, they dominated.”
I’m in love with Raph’s simple acknowledgment of their roles in battle. It’s a very practical outline of exactly how their dynamic on the field plays out and he's so certain of his place.
On the other hand, I’m a bit uncertain about whether they’d dominate. I do believe that they are trained and can hold their own, but I don’t know about them being as impressive as Raph&Leo, simply because Splinter trained them to defend and Shredder trained them to kill. The Hamato brothers haven’t had much time to practice in the offensive, especially since that’s Leo&Raph’s job. (In non-AU canon, they are all offensive/defensive.)
I think Mikey might learn that kinda strength at the farmhouse after being taught by Leo&Raph, and Donnie will step back from that, finally finding his place not as a fighter/leader, but as a scientist.
Definitely an interesting take, tho 🤔
“Only now does he think that, perhaps, there was a reason their master made their primary weapons blunts and not blades.”
I am chewing on this line so hard. It’s so powerful.
I can’t even tell you why. It just is.
“Akihitō knows that Takeō isn’t lying. He’d already tried to take tonight's blame all on his own shoulders, spare Akihitō of the punishment. But Akihitō knows all his tricks and he won’t let his brother suffer alone. Again.”
100% behind Raph learning to butt in when Leo tries to take the fall as they get older and punishments get worse.
“Seeing the situation, the evidence glaring at him, Akihitō cannot deny that this wasn’t exactly a great sell. Takeō and him are tied to the ground, trying to convince these two strangers that they would be safe with them. That their clan would not hurt them while that same clan was just about ready to beat them to a pulp.”
I was thinking the same thing 🤣
Leo, dude, seriously. Look around. Think for a second. You are not selling your point. You are doing the opposite.
In the end, it doesn’t even matter. Sensei will always find them no matter where they run. It was better to follow than be chased.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO TEACH THESE KIDS THAT THIS IS A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP. YOU SHOULD NOT FEEL MOTIVATED TO STAY WITH DAD BECAUSE HE WILL FORCED YOU TO REMAIN OTHERWISE. BRUH. RED FLAG.
These were Foot Ninja binds made specifically to hold them. Mutant strength and all.
It makes sense that Shredder would make these. But.
But man. He made those. For them.
Takeō tries to take control of the situation again, the bossy oldest sibling coming out in him.
HA. Got him. Leo is Leo in any universe.
“His name is Mikey.” Donnie glares. “The rat is lying and he has—” “Donnie, its fine.”
Absolutely how they view things. Mikey doesn’t care what they think or do as long as no one he cares about is paying the price. Donnie feels it is a manner of principle that they accept logic and truth.
Leo talking over both of them is valid. This kid, I swear.
“Then tell your older brother to shut up about—”
LEO IS IT OFFICIAL YOU HAVE BEEN DISOWNED
“Sounds like a you-problem.” Donnie stands. “Mikey, we saved them. It's time to go.”
Donnie would die for them <3
A hand lands on his shoulder, and he recognizes it. Takeō always knows when to give support. He’s a good brother. He hopes Donnie and Mikey will know that one day too.
OH. OKAY. WELL. 🥺
THOSE FEELS CAME OUT OF NOWHERE-
He loved his big bro sm hjkhkjhkjhjkkjhkjhkjhku
If Akihitō didn’t know any better, he’d say it was longing.
Oh, don’t worry, he is dying to have other people in his life who genuinely care for him, but as long as you guys are with the enemy, you’re a threat to his baby brother and daddy and not to be trusted
And, just maybe, it could be their world too.
Oh, so that’s what pain feels like. Glad to be reminded.

I went to the Chain of Thorns tour tonight!
As promised, I saw Cassie today and wrote down her answers (paraphrased) to the questions asked to share here with you all -- and I asked her a question of my own, too!
It was a spoiler-free event, so those of you who have not finished or read any part of Chain of Thorns can read on safely :D
Question: Was it intentional that a Lightwood dies in every series? [referring to Max (TMI), Benedict (TID), Robert (TDA), Barbara (TLH)] Answer: No, it was not intentional and not planned to be that way. But there are so many Lightwoods. In retrospect, it sure looks like it, doesn't it?
Question: What was your process of creating Grace Blackthorn? Answer: Grace is a parallel of Estella from Great Expectations, as The Last Hours is a retelling of that story. I wanted a character to be an embodiment of "explanation not an excuse." I also wanted to give Estella the chance to tell things from her perspective, which is never revealed in Great Expectations. So Grace is that character who is able to display the other side of that situation through her point of view.
Question: How did you come up with the parabatai curse? Answer: It's a greek work and when I learned the meaning, I was immediately interested in exploring the power of non-romantic love. That's where the concept of parabatai came from. The curse then stemmed from expanding on what it means to be parabatai and who could and could not have one. That is where the curse came to be, and of course, how it became a focal point of TDA.
Question: How can I find a man like James Herondale? Answer: I asked myself the same question when I was younger: "Why aren't men like men in books?" I met my husband at a book club and we began sending books to one another that we liked. So my advice is to find a boy, girl, person who enjoys books, too.
Question: Who is your favorite parabatai pair? Answer: Will and Jem.
Question: Who in The Last Hours was the easiest to write? The hardest? Answer: The hardest characters to write were Grace and Matthew, as they both faced very complex problems that don't have an easy or single solution. The easiest characters to write were Cordelia and Lucie. Lucie, because she is also a writer and I very much had a passion for it the way I did when I was younger, too. Cordelia was easy to write because she was fun to write. (Bonus: The most fun to write is Magnus.)
Question: Who is your favorite character from each series? Answer: Didn't want to answer at first, but admitted the following: TID is Tessa. TLH is Lucie. TMI is Simon. No answer for TDA.
Question: Who in TLH was your favorite point of view to write from? Answer: Alastair, Thomas, and Lucie.
Question: Will we ever see Jace and Clary again in a prominent role? Answer: They will be in The Wicked Powers, but the story focuses on Ty, Dru, and Kit, so prominency will remain with them.
Question: How did you develop Ty [Blackthorn] and who was your inspiration for him? Answer: My stepbrother, who always said he looked for characters who exhibited similar characteristics as him, but it was never the same as having a character who was also autistic, and used the word, too.
Question: What made you decide to make Coredlia Iranian? Answer: I was born in Iran and Farsi was my first language. I can't speak it fluently now, but I wanted to make a character that incorporated that part of my life. To make her character and her family's characters, I had a group chat with my mother's friends, who were a bunch of 80-year-old Iranian women. They were very happy to help. Sometimes they argued amongst themselves about a question I had and who had the correct answer, and I would just sit back and watch it unfold while a little scared.
Question: Is there a plot line or detail you look back on and regret doing? Answer: THE FAMILY TREE. [She went on to explain that when she first made it, she had no intention to write any other historical book. But she got the idea for TLH while writing TDA, and suddenly the path and story she wanted to tell did not align with the already-published family tree. So basically, my theory was right and we have confirmation from CC herself that it's just a result of premature development!]
That was the last question of the night, but I saved the question I asked her myself for last! I asked her if Cecily and Gideon had official birthdays, and if so, if we would ever learn them, since we know the rest of the TID cast's birthdays from the 10th anniversary birthstone cards.
Her answer: I never told you guys their birthdays?! I have what I call the Bible and it contains everything about all the characters like their birthdays, star signs, etc. So yes, they do have birthdays. I don't remember them off the top of my head, but I'm sure it'd be no problem getting it out to you guys. There's no reason for not.
So, yes, they do have birthdays, and if she remembers that I asked, we might find them out very soon!
I had a great night and there were some hilarious answers to questions that weren't TSC-specific, but I simply just cannot write that fast.

If It’s Not You, It’s Not Anyone.
Ficlets inspired by song lyrics: part two.
Pairing: ARC Echo x GN!Reader
POV/WC: 2nd, but from Echo's perspective, 2082 words
Rating/Warnings: Teen. Overall fluffy but with significant mentions of anxiety. Seggsy time is implied a few times also.
A/N: while this isn’t my favourite song in the world, I’ve never been able to listen to it without this kind of imagery floating through my mind. I love the lyrics, especially when I fit them into an ARC Echo sized box. Not proof or beta read (and I’m notorious for making up my own words when I can’t think of the one I want… fair warning.) ENJOY.
“Forever’s not enough time to love you the way that I want, because every morning I find you, I fear the day that I don’t. You say that I won’t lose you but you can’t predict the future ‘cause certain things are out of our control. If you ever move on without me, I need to make sure you know: you are the only one I’ll ever love… if it’s not you it’s not anyone.”
[Anyone - Justin Bieber]
He wasn’t a betting man anymore, the days he’d found himself brazen enough to wager his belongings were long since outgrown, and now merely a memory of the past brought up too frequently atop relentless jeers from his brother, Fives. The purgatorial hours after curfew but preceding sleep, saw Domino Squad sprawled across a table, discarded face cards tossed aside as the boys bickered with each other over who lay claim to the prize pot anchoring their fun. Echo was only too miserable to watch his prized possessions float from his clutches, lost to the treachery of one bad poker hand after another, the certainty of his impending win often betrayed by Hevy’s nearly inscrutable bluffing skills. “Just lucky, I guess,” the broad shouldered soldier would coo across the table with a wink, smirking as his fingers draped themselves eagerly around the mountain of contraband that he’d won.
Time and experience had seen a shift in priorities. Life… war… had quickly reinforced the notion that the distribution of Lady Luck’s attention was entirely unpredictable, and trying to elucidate her choices could send a man spiraling into an anguished insanity. It was far simpler to just swallow the bitter pill of unreasoning: sometimes you simply had her favour, and sometimes you did not (and Hevy, somehow, seemed to always have it).
Departing the protective bubble of Kamino’s isolation had proved less of a challenge than Echo anticipated thanks to the unexpected comfortability of their first posting. Surveilling the Rishi system from the stillness of a desolate moon was barely a challenge for the squad’s capable hands, especially after years of conditioning had endowed their expectations with images of carnage and violence, but despite the perceived insignificance of their objective, their overseeing officers were no less regimented or dogmatic than those whom had raised them. Tactics and strategy continued to be encouraged at every possible opportunity; obedience enforced, and discipline expected. “Segregation from the front lines is no excuse for complacency,” their sergeant would iterate repeatedly. “Any brother would be lucky to have landed this posting. Take it seriously.”
Between inappropriately fluffy songs, Clone Nation Radio recounted the events of battles fought across the galaxy, perfectly mirroring the sergeants continued pleas. Seemingly the only squad member willing to heed the advice, the quiet hours on the distant moon saw Echo pouring over schematics, the memorization of regulation manuals presenting him with the perfect shield against the potential chill of Lady Luck’s cold shoulder. His brothers’ snide remarks about indulging in this new ‘strange’ habit, simply rolled off his armoured shoulders. “We’ll see who gets the last laugh when these ‘dumb manuals’ help me out-survive all of you,” he would always chirr back with a roll of his eyes.
Yet his incessant need to retain information had unknowingly only sharpened a double-edged sword. In his earnest to ensure a complete competency, his shield of preparedness had rendered him protected on one hand, but preoccupied on the other, with the unknown shift in his awareness exposing a notion shared by many troopers: that the monster of mortality is all-too happy to lay-in-wait long enough for him to be forgotten about, pushed to the back burner a overly confident soldier's mind.
The Rishi posting was quiet… until it wasn’t. Kamino seemed a fortress impenetrable to external threat… until it wasn’t. Both events had struck Echo with a hard blow of realization that tactics can only ensure a portion of one's safety, schematics will not prevent an invasion, one must learn to expect only that which is unexpected, and there are variables far outside any one man’s control. Lady Luck will ultimately always get to play her game…
And sadly, he’d seen too many brothers had crumple at his side, their torches snuffed in a fraction of a blink, many of them with packs and pouches full of treats that they’d won in a game the previous night. Why is it that Luck had caressed them then, only to fatally betray them hours later?
No, his betting days were behind him… and then there was you.
Now? He’d have bet everything he ever owned that your hair was the softest the universe had ever seen. Even after hours of fervent frolicking between the sheets, your bodies entwining with the desperate desire to reacquaint after so many rotations apart, and each strand having been tugged, bunched, knotted and tossed in the name of a passionate routine so mesmerizing that time itself seemed to pause, it still felt like silk draped between his fingers.
He’d have wagered every credit in the galaxy that history had never seen a hand fit more perfectly into another like yours fit into his. It was as if the Maker had initially sculpted your bodies as one, only to have it fall from Mortis and fracture, the pieces seamlessly fitting together to reestablish his physical rendering of love.
And he’d have bet that, in all the systems he’d traversed, none of them orbited a sun even remotely as radiant as the twinkle in your eye. A luminescence shining from deep inside of you unrivaled by any charted celestial body; a lighthouse that he was all-too willing to let endlessly guide him into your embrace… back home.
Definity now seemed attainable. He had never been surer of anything or anyone in his entire life, and such a certainty had been achieved without the memorization of manuals, and without the aid of instructions, tactics, or strategy. Embedded with the impenetrable protection of your belief in him, his shield now seemed the perfect match for redirecting every potential blow of Lady Luck’s unpredictable tantrums; his irrefutable love for you unwavering despite the external chaos.
But always a double edged sword, the 'distraction' of your love ensured that the undoubtability of your union walked hand-in-hand with unpredictability… with fear and anxiety. The monster of mortality, while frequently concealed behind dense clouds of bliss and enamoring twinkles of light, was never again truly absent from Echo’s awareness, and the harrowing chirp of a deployment transmission ringing from his wristcom acted as a stark reminder that the monster was always waiting patiently for an opportunity to rob the universe of such beauty.
“What’s on your mind, love?” you would ask in those moments, when the surging heat of your frenzied entanglement subsided and the stillness of the night exposed his resurging anxiety. But your query needn’t ever be spoken; the cause of the deepening crease between his brows and the frown tugging at his lips was a mystery to no one, and part of him wondered if you only uttered the question aloud knowing that the sound of your voice would soothe him in a way that nothing else could.
“You are, Cyare,” he would always answer, too aware that the unnatural smile hitched to his lips would provoke nothing but a skeptical cock of your eyebrow, yet too willing to deny his fear its chance in the light.
This routine transpired only a handful of times before you’d successfully pulled the truth from him, his desire to remain a pillar of strength simply no match for the knowing twinkle in your eye, its majesty quickly summoning the anxiety from the depths of his gut and out past his lips.
The truth finally spoken: that he was scared to lose each other, to lose you, intensely fearful that every sorrowful departure preceding a deployment would be the last. His tactical mind was painfully aware that the probabilities of him safely returning home varied largely from one mission to the next, the chances laced with a risk that was incalculable… unpreparable despite his every effort.
But even fatality seemed a welcome alternative to his greatest fear of all: that he would return home from a long deployment to find the twinkle banished from your eyes, that he would find a person no longer blind to the fact that a life built on the shoulders of a soldier was one laden with an unavoidable and potent neglect, and that you’d become a person no longer willing to suffer the solitude that accompanied his absence.
“I’m not going anywhere, Echo,” you would always reassure him. “It’s you and me, my love. Until the end of the universe.”
The mantra never lost its purity despite how often you chorused it to him with your fingers intertwined tightly between his, or your forehead pressed to his in a motion of complete connection, but tonight felt… different. Despite your recited promise and the intimate swaddle of your body around his, Echo could not shake the feeling of dread simmering in his gut.
“What is it?” you probed in barely more than a whisper, your hands stalling their thoughtless swirls atop his skin, fingers instead nestling themselves between the swells of his heaving chest.
“Nothing, Mesh’la.” He couldn’t quite quantify the intensity of his anxieties tonight, for even unspoken they seemed baseless and irrational. How could he express that the gnawing of his upcoming deployment felt more formidable this time, when he knew his words would serve no purpose other than plaguing you with worry? He had no desire to let his malignant fears rob you of the listful peace that he so badly longed for in these moments.
You hummed quietly, toes shifting to gently glide along the top of his foot, the sensation grounding him enough to tighten his grasp around your shoulders. “I’m not going to call you a liar,” you snorted as you nuzzled into his side, “but it kinda smells like your pants might be on fire.”
He should have expected such a response; you’d always been quick to wit, quick to humour, quick to ensure that, even in the enshadowed bedroom where the only light came from the patchwork quilt of a million other windows scattered from here to the horizon, he felt utterly seen.
A small sigh stalled his explanation, his plagued mind still attempting to grapple for some semblance of justification. “I don’t know,” he posed, pausing to press his lips to your forehead, the familiar fragrance of your hair wafting into his nose easing only a fraction of his worry. “Something feels… weird. I can’t shake the feeling that something is going to go amiss during this next one.”
“Sounds like a bad case of the ‘send-off scaries’,” you chuckled, shifting your head on his shoulder to watch your fingers resume their mindless doodles across his skin.
“No, Mesh’la,” he protested, the ghost of misunderstood frustration dancing across his tense features as he retracted his arm from around you and pushed himself into a seated position. “It’s more than that, but… I can’t explain it.”
You shifted your posture to mirror his, scooping his hands into yours and squeezing his palms tightly to prevent him from shielding his face. “Perhaps it’s because this one is a little riskier than some of the others?” you proposed, trying to catch the eyes that he’d deliberately averted from you. “You were saying the Citadel is pretty heavily fortified, right? Maybe it’s the fact that the archive maps are dated and incomplete that has you a little more anxious than usual.”
“Yeah… maybe,” he sighed solemnly, only barely resisting the urge to shake his head and argue.
“You and Fives are an unshakable team,” you persisted. “Especially with Rex and the General beside you. You all have an innate call to protect each other. Just have faith… trust your instincts. They’ve never led you astray, my love. In fact–” a gentle guiding finger under his chin pulled his anguished gaze back to you, “–they led you right to me.”
There it was, dancing in your eyes as if fueled by starlight, the twinkle that reminded him time-and-time-again that nothing could rob him of his home… of his home in you.
“You’re right, Cyare,” he conceded, leaning in to graze his smiling lips against yours. “I love you. It’s you and me to the end of the universe.”
No, he wasn’t anymore… but if he was a betting man, that lingering moment of quiet assurances with breath dancing atop each other's cheeks and lips moving to convey an unspoken message, he’d have wagered that the very stars aligned the night he met you. He’d have bet there wasn’t a force anywhere in this galaxy stronger than his connection to you… and you can bet that if only an ounce of his courage remains intact when he returns home from that wretched fortress, the first place you’ll find him is in your doorway, perched on one knee with a ring in his hand and a plea in his eyes. You can bet that, if Lady Luck’s cold shoulder ever robbed you of each other, his love for you, and only you, would be a promise more steadfast and unwavering than time itself.

How are you guys feeling about the new twst event, The night before Christmas one, especially your thoughts on the new character!
I’m always excited for the Halloween events, Anon! All of them have been fun so far, and I love events with big groups of characters. Super happy to see Idia participate this year, we miss him a lot… it feels like we haven’t seen him in ages for some reasons. Especially in the same event with Azul and Jade and a lot of other guys!
And the gothic feel of the outfits is great, like super good. I am one of those people who haven’t seen the original movie, but the aesthetics of it are so good and suit the boys very well. Not saying anything about the Jamil card because I’m going to have cardiac arrest if I start thinking about it.
As it always it with us though, it will take some time for us to get to the event and actually watch it – we only watched the last Halloween one this spring. So we probably won’t be able to comment on anything related to the event for quite a while. It’s interesting that this is a “lost in the book” type of event though, but to be honest, I don’t know what to make of it. I hope it’s fun though, it better be.
As for the new character (is it Skully or Skelly?), I talked about him a little bit in this reply, and I don’t have much to add yet. Well, other than now that we see his full design I can tell he is pretty well-balanced. I hope they have a lot of fun with him in live2d sprites.

aw the cuties! kid rook's longer hair makes him look like such a tomboy, do you think he got mistaken for a girl often?
Thank you!! <3
He strikes me as a wild kid that hops around from one tree to another lol So people’s first reaction would probably be “wow, that is one feral boy, who is that, Mowgli?”
But if he sat still for like one moment and people got to see his cute face and the long hair, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone thought he was a tomboyish girl.
Anonymous asked:
Why the younger tweels look kinda...😳👉👈
👀 😌 cute??? Aw, why thank you~
These two have been menaces since day one….
Anonymous asked:
I’m thinking of the eels when they’re younger getting a nanny who’s actually wanted by the cops but no one knows it. After a week with them, she turns herself in.
Oh that poor nanny lol See, they do good things sometimes! Like unknowingly torturing people until they confess their crimes to the police! And honestly, she is lucky, because her fate would’ve been worse if she stayed with these two…
I think Jade and Floyd were the types of kids who considered all the nannies and private teachers to be their toys. Of course, they are here to take care of them or teach them, but in actuality, they are here for them to entertain themselves. Nice enrichment for horrible kids…

The question about me being Gidel and Fellow’s sponsor was in reference to the comic on kofi where the latter was forced to….service some dudes. He looked so traumatized, I want to hug him. Which is why my offer’s on the table! I don’t want anything from either except to scratch their ears. Emotional support scritches. ❤️❤️❤️
Ohh, that one! Got it <3 Yeah, that was a sad one; for some reason I always want to add some angst to their shenanigans… He really is traumatised, especially considering that by that point he almost started to believe that that life was in the past. But unfortunately running away from powerful people who need you to remember your place and their ownership of you is difficult…
Aw, now I made myself sad lol Please scratch their ears a lot!! They need it.
Anonymous asked:
Hi I was the anon who recommended Raul and the Vampire and recently I just found out that it has been serialized!!! So of course I have to share this great news to you heheh
Hiii, Anon!
Yes, we’ve seen it, but haven’t read it yet qwq I’m so happy for the author! Well deserved, I hope they get a lot of new readers and continue developing this story.
Thank you for recommending it once again. Whenever we randomly think about these two it makes us so happy lol
Anonymous asked:
Speaking of Vil, although their lives are somewhat different, this scene and song still remind me of him: https://youtu.be/mI3XowjxP1g?si=vfnFWJf5p2IEZY_W
I see your vision, Anon! Especially in a piano scene changing into a pole scene lol
Fame and one’s relationship with adoring/obsessive/hating/non-caring audience are difficult things to fully process 🤔

Who are Rook and Trey (if you don’t mind my asking)? (Love your art btw)
*Takes a DEEP breath* How much time you got- /half joking
Aight so. Rook Hunt and Trey Clover are two characters from a phone game I've been into recently, Twisted Wonderland. Yes. The. The Disney one. Written and Drawn by Yana Toboso (the artist/writer behind Black Butler. No I'm not kidding.) HEAR ME OUT kjhsdjkgdf
It's one of those gacha/visual novel-like games that gets marketed as like a dating sim, but has some of the most. Un-romantic settings/characters I've EVER seen. As an aro/ace, I applaud this lmao. Also amazing character and story writing like what the heck.
Very....boys will be boys energy but not the mean way, more of a “y’all are so stupid and ridiculous” in a fond way??
Actual answer under read more because I'm insane:
So every character is like. They aren't the Disney characters themselves but more like BASED on them? Sometimes several. I'm making a powerpoint on this to connect all the dots, here's Trey's lmao
Heartslabyul house! Based on: Mad Hatter, 3 of Clubs, King of Hearts, etc. Generally chill. You think he's the normal one, then he turns around and gives you an hour lecture on how to brush your teeth properly. Ok mom.
He also reminds me along of Ignis from Final Fantasy 15. He's. That type. But also not?? Still instant attachment that way LOL
Thing is he's VERY devoted to his childhood friend/Dorm leader, Riddle. But he will never admit this, not even to himself. (due to Trauma and also being totally completely normal. Uh-huh.)
SO IN WE BRING....ROOK HUNT (who is already on that slide HAHA)
Different house (it's a school setting, like Hogwarts but more Themed Houses based around. Different Disney villains) and SO. How do you explain Rook. Well he's based off the Huntsman from Snow White, mainly.
Gives these vibes. Incoming. Smiley. Will give affection. Somewhat of a threat.
Theater kid set loose. French. Loves beauty in all its forms. Drama, sparkles, has SO much love (platonic, I must preface, every time I use that, I mean in an unromantic manner) to give and is VERY vocal about it. Compliments you constantly and finds uplifting things to say even when you did horribly on something. You fell on your face? He will tell you you fell with magnificence or something idk he's just LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, he means EVERY WORD TOO-
This dude will not lie. His eyes are too good, he is too perceptive. Oh also he hunts some students for sport, there's that little detail (HE NEVER HURTS ANYONE as far as I know he just. Watches. Love this lil weirdo. Some of his lines are "let's play tag!" and I'm like oh NO LMAO) so like I laugh at him but he's also MILDLY TERRIFYING AND CAPABLE LIKE DUDE-
Anyway, TREY you meet early since he's in the first house you deal with, Heartslabyul. But my first exposure to ROOK was through Trey's Lab Card story, which is honestly a fun time on its own. They are science club buddies!!
So right off the bat you have a very :D :D vs calm =w=;;; dynamic, which I love. But then we have....Trey, who denies how much he cares for people, for Riddle. Who shows care through his actions, baking, Due to Reasons, words of affirmation might murder him on the spot. And then we have Rook, who is a font of flowery warm appreciative words who loves and loves loudly, watching this like 👀 I see you. (incoming shots of Halloween Event part 2)
The guy calls him Chevalier des Roses to his face. Constantly. Rook has little nicknames for alot of people (most dorm leaders he calls "King of Roses" (Riddle), "King of Lions" (Leona) etc.) but he calls Trey a Knight. Of Roses. He's calling Trey Riddle's Knight. And it's very cute.
(Halloween event tossed them together and it was WONDERFUL)
But yeah Trey has his own reasons for shying away from the title. He's a baker's boy, he has no sword or armor or anything, also it's embarrassing as heck-
But Rook still sees how he treats people. He calls a knight for what it is. Rook himself ADORES his dorm Leader, Vil, and sees Trey trying to hide this same devotion and just goes "you are like me!!!" Trey: oh please no I could never-
Also they're SUCH. PARENTS.
It's just. A really good dynamic I'd LOVE to see more of, y'know? An understanding, somehow being understood by someone more than you know yourself. Rook is also weird as HECK sometimes (what do you mean you can see how Leona is yawning ALL THE WAY ACCROSS THE FEILD) and Trey nearby is. His friend. He's just like "I'm so sorry he's just like this" and it's VERY funny akjshdjksdhfs he may have to hold Rook back from blowing up the labs again, dude gets carried away.
I do love this very CUTE fan art here.
Twisted Wonderland has some lovely character dynamics. Also no one is "normal", but Rook is just another level of w h a t.
It feels like alot of interactions were just "hm spin a wheel, see who we get, slap them together" and it WORKS. SOMEHOW. Platonic Rook Trey is just one I've become extremely fond of and it's a rarer one....
You probably weren't expecting that much but it was a fun thing to answer. And THANK YOU About the art!! I wish to post more!! After school ends....soon.
#breezy babbles#anonymous#breezy replies#twisted wonderland#twst#analysis#of a sort.....#there are more details I could go into but that's MORE spoilers#rook hunt#trey clover#brotp#idk how to tag these except.....babbies#anyway trey you meet quick he's in the first book/arc#Rook is in pomefiore he's in the 5th book.....#even tho all characters can be seen in personal character stories#and chats and events etc#even the lab one we have rook trey and jade from Octavinelle (book 3)#so literally anything goes#makes hunting (haha) for content rough tho :/#esp with fandom being....ship saturated in its natural state#also school is beating me up so there's That#final tomorrow I'm procrastinating soooo hard#oops#thanks for asking about the hyper fixation anon#I went for it......ehe#twst halloween#Rook has more character bases but those are....spoiler locked#enjoy the brain rot y'all who are curious I guess#back to animation hell I gooooo

Hi, my friend is asking why there are so many maribat fics, and especially with DamiMari.
Maybe you know about the history of these crossovers in Batman Fandom?
Hi!
(Fellow Maribat fans, feel free to add your own commentary or correct any of my mistakes.)
So @/ozmav created the Damian x Marinette ship in 2018, I think? It was just a fun little crossover that blew up and became really popular. I was not around either of those fandoms at the time, so I'm not sure about all the details.
Daminette was the first Maribat ship created, so it was around the longest, and thus accumulated the most works.
Eventually, the other Bat Boys got their own ship, and now the Maribat (or now, more technically, DCxMLB) fandom has so many more ships and crossovers -not necessarily between the Bat/MLB main characters.
Some rarepair ships (any DCxMLB ship not between one of the four main Bat Boys and Marinette) include Konette (Conner Kent/Superboy and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Timdrien (Tim Drake/Red Robin and Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir), to name a couple.
The Maribat fandom also crosses over with multiple fandoms, like DPxDCxMLB or MCUxDCxMLB.
Some pure MLB and DC stans definitely dislike Maribatters, especially during the beginning of the fandom, when the tags for both fandoms were cluttered with DCxMLB content. Now that it's grown so much and has its own tags, I think the hate has calmed down somewhat. (Although, I prefer to keep out of fandom drama, so I may simply have missed the hateful discourse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.)
Overall, the Maribat fandom has really grown from a crack ship to its own large, well-populated community. There are tags on Ao3 and many discord servers, which runs events such as "Jasonette July" and "Maribat? Get In! [a server] Civil War".
On a personal note:
As to my thoughts on the ships themselves, my favorites are Daminette (Damian Wayne/Robin and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Jasonette (Jason Todd/Red Hood and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug). It's always fascinating to rotate a character or ship in your head like a rotisserie chicken, considering their Canon and Fanon traits and then exploring them in whatever medium you choose (my medium of choice is writing fanfiction).
For Daminette, the ship you specifically asked about, I am drawn to it because I find the differences between the couple adorable. I personally have a fondness for the Grumpy x Sunshine trope, a Tsundere male lead, and relationship/character growth. (Of course, sometimes it's nice just to read a cute 500 word drabble with no plot, no specific dynamics, and no development, where the couple is just cute and happy.)
I think that is one of the beauties of Maribat. With so many various ships and characters to choose from, there's something for everyone, and we can all bond over belonging to the same fandom(s). Some of us have joined from the MLB side, some from the DC side, some just got dragged in by a friend and have no knowledge of either fandom, and that's okay! With so much to explore in both fandoms, there is constantly new content* being made with love (and tears. And laughter, both evil and joyful. And hornin-).
I've made some of my best friends through this fandom, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
I hope this helps, and I apologize if my ramblings detracted from my answers!💜
*Yes, I am aware of the popular Tropes such as "Akuma Class Trip to Gotham" and "Long-Lost Wayne".

My spooky event has launched!
Very excited to see what y'all come up with! Already very creative ways to interpret my set up for what you can request (positive)!
Anyway, I just had a fun idea, perhaps I'll actually do something with it idk
So, I was thinking about those ghost romances and how they're always so damn tragic. I mean, it's either that or it's a horror story and not the actual end game ship lol
Mostly because of the whole "Can you realistically date someone who can't die when that's all you can do to rectify the disparity--eventually you will grow old and nothing changes a dynamic like literal time itself".
So, picture this, Thatch and Izou purchase a nice place outside of town. Just for the two of them. It's an old building but it's been well taken care of and renovated a few times by various, short term owners. One of those "Oh, this is so nice and cheap--black mold or ghosts?" Kind of situation.
And it's not black mold.
Yeah, a few folks have died, starting back in the late 1800s.
They're not phased in the least by the ominous history or reputation and settle in.
It doesn't take long for shit to start happening.
Stuff getting moved. Doors closing or opening on their own. Footsteps at three in the morning. Fun stuff like that.
After a while they can't pretend nothing is happening and start loudly demanding answers.
All the
"Show yourself!"
And
"Who's here with us?"
Mostly from Thatch cause he's been binging ghost hunting shows. Izou just wants his makeup to stop fucking disappearing.
"Well, at the moment, just me."
Thatch screams startlingly loud and high, stumbling to the floor.
They're in the living room and there, settled neatly on the love seat that came with the house, is a woman. She's faintly glowing, almost translucent. Colors washed out.
Dressed in a white nightgown with a loose dress robe tied neatly at her waist. Dark curls braided down her back. One bare foot and the other hidden in a worn slipper peaking out from beneath the lace trim. She looks tired and slightly apologetic.
"Terrible way to meet, I know, but unfortunately the dead have only a few talents--change not being one of them." She grimaces, adjusting thick glasses on her nose. "And yes. I'm dead. No, I'm not fucking with you. Yes, this house is haunted. No. I did not move your things... Actually, I did move your keys yesterday, but you dropped them on the floor and nearly kicked them under the stove--in my defense."
"...You don't look dead. Well, aside from the ethereal... Whatever you have going on." Izou points out. She sighs, pulling aside her dressing gown, revealing a bloody stab wound to the heart. "Ah. I'm... Sorry. Wait, if it's not you, then who's been fucking with us?"
She shrugs.
"The others. I'm the first, technically the oldest. But I'm hardly an authority. Got two kids--different times but they get along quite well-- a war vet, a couple, and a rude bastard. My bets are the kids or the bastard. The couple.. keep to themselves. And the war vet prefers to watch."
Izou grimaces at that.
"Watch? You don't mean...?" She snorts.
"He's more concerned you're communists, actually. No desire to see you 'fornicating' with a few slurs thrown in. Passed in the fifties." She sort of apologizes with a shrug. "I'm Nikia by the way."
The other ghosts don't usually show themselves. Thatch finds that offering cookies keeps the shenanigans to minimum. Nikia preferring to watch TV with them or read. Quiet company for whoever is home.
Sometimes someone tries to come over specifically to "call upon the spirits" but the boys staunchly turn them away.
They discover that Nikia's death is considered a mystery, her body never found. The kids were both accidents. The vet died of a heart attack. And the couple carbon dioxide inhalation. They usually only start acting up if the fire alarm battery dies, fittingly. Otherwise it's just the kids and Nikia who regularly do anything interesting.
Naturally, they treat their unexpected house mates as family.
Shockingly, the couple are the first to move on after a big family dinner. Thatch left place holders for their 'house mates'. Apparently they always wanted a big family and being included gave them that last push.
The vet went as quietly as he 'lived' after Izou finished setting up his gun collection. Having found peace in seeing the tools of his trade treated so reverently but respectfully with full awareness they were weapons. A world where such things could be decoration rather than defense soothing him into the light. And probably a few "era appropriate reassurances mixing with blatant slurs and racism that's kinda touching if it didn't make you wince to hear it aloud".
The kids disappeared after a very lovely and well decorated Christmas with stand in toys for them to play with. They still kept the toys on the shelves for them, despite the kids having moved on.
Then it was just them and Nikia.
They'd grown close by this point, all three of them. And they were a little nervous about her status in the house.
They didn't want her to go. She was a wonderful companion in an otherwise quiet and too-large house. But there was an undeniable temptation in what could never be.
She's completely intangible. Touching her feels like dipping your hand in icy fog. Only the hazy sensation of her nightgown. The barest breeze where her fingertips lay.
It's not healthy, this "if only" relationship they have.
It is shocking that Thatch is the first to bring it up.
"When are you moving on? Is there something we need to do to... Bring you peace?" He asked hesitantly in front of the fire one night.
Nikia looks at him. Glancing at Izou who seems conflicted by the question. She smiles softly.
"...You already know. I..." She cleared her throat, tears clinging to her lashes. "I liked my peace. My solitude. At the time, it was rare. Unheard of for a good woman to want to be a spinster... Some people took that personally. But I never wanted to be alone like that. Where he must have left me."
She looks out at the woods.
"...you look half dressed... You heard him coming. You ran."
"... I did. Thought I lost him. But, like a rabbit and hunting dog..."
"He found you."
"I lied. When I said the dead can't change. It's just... So limited. The best I could do was hide the knife." Nikia informed them gravely, pulling aside her robe. The stab wound now decorated with the hilt of a fine dagger, bearing a bloodied crest. "He must have buried me with it. I still had both shoes when he killed me."
They spend a month with metal detectors trying to find her.
When they do, they dig her up, finding her decomposed corpse. Knife sliced between her ribs. Skeleton draped in silk and cotton beneath the tangled roots of a gnarled tree.
The cops are called and she's finally put to rest. The knife identified as belonging to a wealthy family at the time with only one suspect with sufficient motive. Her case, closed.
They find her ghost sitting on her tombstone.
She looks so tired.
"I'm sorry for the trouble."
Izou sighs heavily, lowering a bouquet of roses alongside Thatch.
"It was nothing."
"... If it was another time... Would we still have been friends? If we met between the stacks in a library or in line for coffee, instead of like this?"
"We'd be more than friends." Thatch swore softly.
She smiles. Her features warm in the setting sun as she fades away.
They're upset for weeks afterwards. Drinking to what "could have beens" and more.
Until they're dragging out by Marco and Ace under their father's orders, his worry palpable even through phone calls.
Thatch resolves to buy the sappiest romance novel he can to wish fulfill his way out of another hangover.
He reaches for a second hand copy of a book only for his palm to settle over cold fingertips. Startled, he steps back, an apology on his lips.
Only to see a familiar face looking up at him sheepishly. Large glasses low on her nose with pale blue eyes and curly hair died a rich, indigo hue.
"Oop--Ssssssorry. Coffee? I mean, would you like to get coffee with me?" He asks breathlessly. "I'm Thatch--my partner is Izou, by the way, over there." He gestures to the other section, raising his voice just so. Izou glancing back and doing a double take.
He's quick to come over.
"H-Hi, are you new here?" He asks.
"Yeah, just moved in, actually. Not really into coffee but... I'd love to meet up? Make new friends, maybe?" She asks nervously.
"It's no trouble--like, at all!" Thatch reassures quickly.
"Yeah, we'd love to get to know you!" Izou adds in.
Neither of them are sure how this is happening, but she smiles and they know it's real. That crooked smile all too familiar, making her eyes squint and nose wrinkle and flair as she chuckles. Throaty and soft.
This time, this time it'll be different.
It will be better.
#mittens rambles#op oc nikia#just whipped out a little fic lol#with a bit of angst#messy but i kinda like these endings#its happy but different#still kinda sad#and confirm nonlinear reincarnation which is fascinating#like the egg post

Film Review - The Hunger Games
In many ways, The Hunger Games film is all the spectacle the book warned against. Within the story, the Games themselves were a blockbuster, the biggest entertainment event of the year in the consumerism-crazy Capitol. The film is a blockbuster not only because of the wild success of the books, but by reaching a broader audience with the action scenes, glamorous photo shoots, settings, and celebrity actors. Visually, the cinematography is innovative, colorful, and dynamic. Had the movie gone into as much gritty detail about poverty and pain as the books, as well as showing more of Katniss’ unlikeable traits that were smoothed out in the film, I don’t believe it would have had such mass market appeal. Book and film markets have different criteria, after all.
Katniss is a strong and appealing protagonist, which is vital to any successful story. The high stakes and romantic elements mean nothing if you don’t care about the central character. The books and movie were my first experience with a story about a girl that people of all genders in my class were excited about. I recall when the movies were first being developed. I was around eleven years old and had just read the books, and I was so excited to see previews and read magazines about the making of the film. I dressed as Katniss for Halloween and remember visiting a friend and reenacting the Games with our toys. For a young adult in the target audience, it was a fun adventure story, even if it made you cry sometimes.
As an adult, I see this very much was not in line with the message of the story, but don’t mistake me for a cynic. The thriller elements are what make it appealing and successful. For a story to endure the ages, it must captivate the audience’s attention. Fans of the books were blown away to see the danger, unique setting, and the characters they love brought to life. The stakes are high—it’s a matter of life and death not only for Katniss, but for her family. The entire story is a struggle for survival, not only in the arena, but against hunger and the Capitol’s harsh punishments for stepping out of line. Something else interesting about the film which adds to the thriller aspect is how it has a different point of view than the books. The book had a limited first person point of view, whilst the film showed things happening in the Gamemakers’ offices and from President Snow’s viewpoint. Seneca Crane’s death was changed for irony and a stronger visual scene. This fills in some gaps in the worldbuilding that don’t translate well from a book, but also, a film audience wants to be privy to the action.
Many of the parts of the book that were slower-paced didn’t make it into the film. Katniss’ friend Madge is cut, and Katniss’ struggles with her relationship with her mother are shortened. During the games, there’s no time in the film for Katniss’ slow struggle with dehydration, or to linger on Katniss’ and Peeta’s recovery from the infected wounds and blood loss. Honestly, those slower scenes are some of my favorite parts of the book for how they show the struggle for humanity behind the spectacle. In many ways, the movie sanitizes the books and makes them more palatable for a wider audience. The desolate poverty of the Seam isn’t shown in too great detail. Katniss in the book has a darker complexion and shows the scars of a hard life. I wouldn’t want a real actress to endure a dangerous lifestyle to have a certain body type or “method act” trauma, but I still feel there was an emphasis on physical attractiveness of the characters typical of visual media.
This segues into my final point—the way the film and the resulting media storm honed in on the romance elements. A love triangle is a surefire way to generate buzz. However, the romance in the book was scary, with Katniss’ and Peeta’s relationship founded by a struggle for survival that went back from the boy with the bread all the way to faking it for the favor of the audience. The film audience stands in for the Capitol audience. The younger adult viewers have attractive actors to admire in the roles of the characters, with “Team Peeta vs Team Gale” being a popular phenomenon at the time when the movie first came out. I personally don’t like focusing on the romance because it misses the point of the story even more than the cutting of the slower-paced scenes does, but I can’t deny it’s part of the reason this was a blockbuster.
For better or worse, the success of The Hunger Games film launched the market for books and movies in the YA dystopia subgenre (that is, until the Divergent trilogy brought the demand to an unglorious end). It’s most certainly a good thing that there are more female action protagonists as a result of the success of The Hunger Games. Despite the elements of the book that were cut to make the film more of a blockbuster, the film remains a moving story with unique thriller elements that makes the audience care about the characters and desire to see them triumph over perilously high stakes. Everyone loves a story about an underdog overcoming an oppressive ruler. It's a classic plot structure that has endured the ages for a reason. I hope kids keep wanting to dress up as Katniss and play out elaborate thrillers with their Barbies. It really is a rite of passage of childhood.

Stranger Things Tomb of Ybwen Review
If you haven't yet, be sure to check out my reviews for other Stranger Things tie-ins. Like, reblog, and let me know what your thoughts are:
Stranger Things Six
Stranger Things Halloween Special
Stranger Things The Other Side
Stranger Things Zombie Boys
Stranger Things The Bully
Stranger Things Winter Special
Synopsis: It's January 1985, two months after the group's battle with the Mind Flayer. Still reeling from the death of Bob Newby, Will becomes intrigued one day when he and Mr. Clarke discover a map containing clues from Bob to an ancient Viking treasure buried in Hawkins. Against the wishes of his friends, Will ventures into Mirkwood to look for the treasure just as a blizzard hits. Fearing for his safety, Will's friends go after him as they also begin to wonder if the treasure is real..........
Observations:
I said this before in my Halloween Special Review, but this is a personal favorite. Comics and tie-ins that focus on the Party hanging out, being friends, and having adventures (even if said adventures aren't tied to the Upside Down) are fun to read. This comic in particular takes heavily after The Goonies, a 1985 movie (which is exactly the same year this comic takes place in) written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus, centering around a group of misfits who discover a map leading to a 17th century pirate treasure. It also stars a younger Sean Astin 30+ years before he played the role of Bob Newby on Stranger Things. Even the artwork for this comic pays homage to that movie:
The big differences between the movie and this comic are:
1.) The Party isn't getting chased around by a greedy family who wants the treasure for themselves. The only threat the group encounters is a nasty blizzard that leaves them trapped in the cold, forcing Mr. Clarke to come looking for them midway through.
2.) Unlike the movie, the treasure isn't given as much as importance as the reason for why Will wants to find it.
One of the things I've appreciated about the comics and tie-in materials is how they've given more focus to Will and enhanced aspects of his character that the show briefly touched upon. The Other Side did a great job demonstrating what Will's time was like in the Upside Down and what he had to do to survive. Zombie Boys helped illustrate the trauma and PTSD Will went through following the events of season 1, as well as his friends attempts to help him recover from it. This comic by comparison puts more focus on how Will reacted to Bob's death in season 2 and how he's coming to terms with that.
Will didn't just see Bob as a friend, but as a father-figure. Someone he could look up to and get advice from. Someone who could have been a part of his family had he not died. Now that Bob's gone, there's a mix of both grief and anger in Will, as well as the idea that locating this treasure could give him closure.
I don't want to spoil what the treasure is, but if you remember what Bob was like on the show, with his love of puzzles and mysteries, then you can probably guess that the treasure hunt he left clues for was more about the journey for him than about the destination.
And I would argue that's what Will learns by the end of it. He's initially bitter about the reveal regarding the treasure, but deep down, it was never really about the treasure. It was about him getting to know Bob better and connecting with him one last time through the treasure hunt Bob set up 20 years ago. It was about Will getting to say a final goodbye to someone he cared about.
It's nice seeing the other characters in this comic supporting Will through this. Mr. Clarke introduces Will to the history of how Bob formed the AV Club, and even gives him the map that kickstarts the plot. Mike, Dustin, and Lucas struggle with how to best approach Will's situation (sometimes they handle it with tact, other times they don't) and even join him on his quest despite how bad the weather gets because they recognize this is important to Will.
There's also Dustin who (despite having gotten his feet wet in the blizzard) becomes intrigued by the treasure when he sees the X on the tree and starts digging for it because he realizes there are actual clues pointing in a certain direction.
Furthermore, while the comic borrows heavily from The Goonies, it also contains a lot of references to Lord of the Rings: Will going into Mirkwood to find the treasure. The Party climbing a wintry hill just like the Fellowship climbs Caradhras in the books. Them arriving at an actual mine where the treasure is located, which Dustin is quick to name The Mines of Moria:
On a slightly related note, since Stranger Things heavily borrows references from LOTR, I have started looking at the books as one means of predicting the direction the Duffer Brothers might go in season 5. I also see many of the characters on the show paralleling characters from The Fellowship of the Ring:
Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas for instance all have characteristics that resemble Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin. If I were to say which ones are a direct parallel to whom, I'd probably argue that Dustin has a lot of Pippin's qualities, with his natural curiosity and fun-loving nature. Lucas is Merry with his pragmatism and being the more sensible one in the group. People might disagree with me on this, but I see Mike resembling Sam with his unwavering loyalty to those he cares about while Will resembles Frodo with his kind nature and being the one established as having a connection to the main villain of the series (Sauron/Vecna). Even the comic itself has Lucas referring to Will as Frodo.
There are other parallels as well, which I may do a separate post about later if I choose to. Hopper's fake death in season 3 and battle with the Demogorgon in season 4 reminds me of Gandalf's supposed death at Khazad-Dum and the fight he and the Balrog have later on a snow-covered peak.
Back in June, I made a prediction about the possibility of the show killing off Mike, and even drew parallels between that and the way Boromir's death broke the Fellowship, and how Frodo's decision to sail to the Grey Havens at the end of the series was officially the end for the core four (Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin). Regardless of what fans have said, I could see a scenario where the Duffer Brothers kill off one of the main characters if they think it'll either drive the plot forward or impact the other characters in a way that affects future decisions for them moving forward. Since Mike is described on the show as being "The Heart" of the Party, and since both Will and El (two characters who have personal history with Vecna) are closest to Mike, I could see Vecna targeting Mike as a way of hurting both of them and demoralizing the group.
Finally, this is something I discussed with @spaghettificationandpretzels in one of my reviews, but since they've established on the show that the hive mind in the Upside Down connects all the way to Vecna, killing him once and for all would be similar to Sauron's downfall in the books where his defeat would decimate whatever armies he controls and the land he inhabits.
But I digress.
Some final aspects to note from this comic:
Scott Clarke is still dating Jen Woo from season 1, and they seem to have a happy relationship. I hope they both appear in the final season. I wouldn't even mind if the next comic or graphic novel centers around Mr. Clarke. People have joked online about how they wish they could know more about his personal life, and I would fully support a story focusing on that.
Also, Dustin briefly talks with Will at the beginning about signing up for Camp Know Where over the Summer. The events surrounding his time there (and how he meets Suzie) are covered in the comic Stranger Things Science Camp.
Overall, this is a fun comic and a must-read. I want to be careful about saying what is or isn't canon, especially when it comes to supplementary tie-ins, but this particular story is something I could see being part of the canon, especially because it doesn't contradict anything from the show and it helps build on a meaningful relationship from the show (Will and Bob). Check it out when you get the chance! :)

Look! You hit me in two of my weak spots with baby-verse: first because I l-o-v-e hybrid (I got to know your fics because of that one back in 2020?? 2019?? idk) and because I also love babyfics (which is a fact I'm not particularly proud of, but yours is the only real good one I've read in a while). My question is actually about the dynamic Rosalie-Olie, because Rose is a character who has a difficult story with babies, and I think the way you write her is so cute and honest with her character. In the story, is this whole thing a healing experience for her or would you say it's more painful? And how her relationship with Alice changes (if it changes) with that? (Also I have to add that I'm loving FicMas so far, it's like the ultimate Jalice event on this fandom in my opinion)
Anon! Thank you so much for enjoying Hybrid. That is the most self-indulgent fic to date and for a while, it felt like everyone was politely ignoring that so it always makes me SO happy that Hybrid has a fanbase? It's unhinged, it's meant to be a bunch of fun, I love that people want to read it.
And thank you for the incredible comment about baby-verse. I am indifferent to kidfics, honestly, and most of them are terrible. Baby-verse spawned mostly out of frustration and spite about the state of baby fics and how deeply unequipped Alice and Jasper are to be parents in any universe. It would never be a choice they made for themselves, and I think if you want to stay true to them as characters, you need to recognize that. But that's a rant for another day.
SO, about Hybrid!Rose. It's really both? I think that it reopens a very raw wound for Rose, but in a way that allows it to heal stronger. She'll never have babies, but she gets to watch her favourite brother's son grow up and be a part of that? It's very bittersweet and complicated for her, definitely.
This is a version of Rosalie that thinks Alice is erratic and childish and has a bad temper, and she has no idea why Jasper is so in love with her. Rose is not a fan at all; she just tolerates Alice better than Bella because Alice isn't human and giving up a Normal Life to be with Jasper, and because Jasper isn't making his relationship with Alice a family priority - Jasper would actually prefer less family involvement.
And then Alice walks in holding this beautiful baby boy that looks so much like Jasper, Rosalie knows instantly that this is her nephew. In that first moment, it's love at first sight. Rose will die for Oliver without a second thought.
The pain comes later, and Emmett does a lot of heavy lifting there, letting Rose hurt and emote over the fact that life isn't fair and reminding her that she needs to find the good in the situation. She can grieve her own dreams and celebrate Oliver at the same time. No one in their family is going to begrudge her for hurting, but she cannot place her suffering or her healing solely on Oliver's shoulders. (And Rose does support Emmett through a similar thing - that it fucking hurts that the one family member who has expressed his lack of interest in children suddenly has a healthy son.)
It takes time - Rose desperately wants a distinctive place in Oliver's life, and she knows that having a friendship with Alice is necessary to that, so Rose tries. She's polite and friendly, and tries not to offer unsolicited advice or abscond with Oliver when Alice is at the Cullens. She's intensely aware that Jasper needs to bond with his son before she gets to bond with her nephew, and that Alice makes all the decisions whilst Jasper is still coming to terms with being a father.
Most of the time, Rose is successful, but sometimes she gets a little pushy - especially when it comes to things that would keep Oliver closer to the Cullens. Rose is a big advocate for Alice and Jasper to immediately get married, and a lot of that is seizing the opportunity to have Oliver in the house full-time. Alice is not interested in marriage - she's only eighteen and she has her own family, and she and Jasper are still working through their issues - and honestly, Emmett's relieved because he doesn't think Rose is ready to have the baby around 24/7.
But Alice and Rose do slowly form a friendship. It's a basis of mutual respect - Rose respects the fact that Alice is now apart of the family, that she's a capable mom and a good partner for Jasper. Alice respects the fact that this is really hard for Rose, and change doesn't come easy for vampires. And they both adore Ollie and want him to have a happy, normal childhood. Alice does trust Rose with Ollie in a way that she doesn't trust anyone else at the beginning - a mutual understanding of the maternal instinct, perhaps? And as Oliver grows up, Alice and Rose end up being friends on their own merits - they both like fashion, they both like fast cars, and they both have loud and clear opinions.
Oliver is also very, very close to Auntie Ro and Uncle Em - he grows up with both of them dropping any task to play with him, with special sleepovers, with having Rose and Emmett spoil him and love on him so much. So as much as Rosalie will always mourn not being a mother, being able to be there for Ollie's childhood is healing.
(And thank you. Ficmas started as a bit of a silly thing, I am so glad that everyone enjoys it. Definitely thinking of mixing it up for 2024 with an actual request form so I can see What The People Want.)

Who is Charlotte - The Guardian (The Destiny 2 Concept, not the News Website)
Okay, now we're at least getting into the characters themselves. Feel free to skip this if you just want to read interactions between Charlotte and Failsafe (and sometimes Cayde) but if you want the backstory both IC and OOC for her, keep on reading.
Okay, first question, who is Charlotte? - Charlotte is my Hunter in Destiny 2, she is the Female Exo that I created in 2020 when I first started playing the game. Well, who is Charlotte, IC? - She's a Guardian! She does guardian things, like murder cabal and vex, go on raids and participate in vanguard activities! She's somewhat calculated in her actions but still able to come up with new plans on the fly if something goes wrong, she keeps emotionally distant unless she gets close to someone, she doesn't get her humanity. Wait what was that last one? - Ah yes, Charlotte, being an Exo, was once human, probably, she doesn't remember! She can't remember what her life before being an exo was, and commonly questions what it means to be human and what it means to be alive. On the more, fun side of her, she loves hand cannons and knives (being a blade barrage user and all), her favorite Exotic is The Ace of Spades (i'll get into how she got that later) and Outbreak Perfected comes in at a very close second. You might have noticed the icon for this blog is a failsafe based emblem and uh, not an exo face. That's because Charlotte never likes to remove her helmet. (As my friend called it, Robot Dysphoria) Her cloak (Memory of Cayde, i'll get there, don't worry) is also pretty much always on with the hood up as well, she likes it that way. Okay, okay, I'll get to the elephant in the room, what's the deal with Cayde in this blog? Cayde is still alive, the events of Forsaken simply did not happen despite a bunch of other stuff having happened past that, I'll probably try and make a full timeline later. How does Charlotte relate to Cayde? - Cayde trained Charlotte when she joined the Vanguard as a guardian, was he supposed to? Not really, but he took a liking to her style and decided to take her under his wing and show her how to get things done his way. This helped develop her own style, albeit with a lot of his personal techniques thrown in. Okay, so, how did Charlotte get The Ace of Spades and the Memory of Cayde cloak if Cayde is still alive and well? - Simple! He gave her the Ace of Spades as a gift for completing her first big Raid! Sure, he wasn't exactly excited to give it up, but he knew it was in good hands, and Charlotte has been proving him right ever since. Now, the cloak is a little different, He didn't give it to her, she had it made by Ada-1 as a way to always feel like Cayde was there. Even when he wasn't on comms to support her, she could always feel the cloak on her back and knew he was supporting her on her adventure. Okay, this post is getting really long, let me wrap it up with some quick little notes I've written down over the past like month. - She loves food, particularly ramen (thanks Cayde) and likes to take her few friends out to eat every now and again. - She has a notebook! She writes in it a lot, and sometimes does lil shitty doodles. - She got INTJ-A on that test that's like zodiac but for boys. - She likes going Solo on a lot of her missions, but works well enough with a team to get by on the big stuff. - Charlotte has no number designation (that anyone knows of, yet) Sorry for the long post, very long. I need to work on rambling less, but hopefully this is everything you'd want to know about Charlotte!
If not, I have an ask box! You can submit questions to me and i'll answer them! (provided they're relevant)

OMG the tags of your ztun post! I didn't see you saying you would like to infodump!! infodump away!
This will have to be in multiple parts if I run out of space, maybe.
ztun started out with them being a concept for a possible love interest that I also use as an MC proxy.
Started out with a gag username inspired by a nickname and took a piece from sal logic to find a reverse.
(more lore and just my ship doodles, you have been warned)
They actually have a dedicated and planned route in my head. Their gag is you have to choose the options that look bad. The entire route works on the schtick that the player and them start from bickering. Since they start the call with you on the premise that they argue with you.
The calls themselves aren't hostile, just a lot of banter. Like the type to be rude to someone the closer they are. Because there's a mutual understanding that you don't actually mean any of the insults and none of it digs into anyone's insecurities.
Yes there will be so much tension in the convo.
Made sure some details with ztun worked just as well if they had to be translated into the MC role to keep the plot beats similar yet distinctly them.
ztun's definitely the type to only be active when there's another person around since they grew up in a pretty big family. Likes to enjoy being in a power saving mode when alone. Can end up sleeping for an entire day.
Has an older sister and younger brother so they have an unexpectedly caring and attentive side from trying to support both in different ways.
A total homebody but always happy to go somewhere. Bonus if there's new and exciting stuff. They like experiencing new things with the people they like. Makes for great memories.
Brutally honest if they're not joking about anything. This can lead to them being very sincere. And even though they tend to complain but never actually mean anything by it.
Anyway wanted to doodle them with the boys and figured they'd gel with xyx more. They're similar in some ways so I can see them working well. (They're both bad with feelings and words, so they kind of understand how hard it is for the other to explain things)
Also depressed person knows a fellow depressed person
Generally, their relationship has this dynamic where they meet each other's energy for the event. Their humor/bickering tend to be childish because of it.
I made ztun teeny as a joke and then I saw the headcanon where xyx is a menace if his partner is smol, chaos ensues
Many things they do turn into a contest but ztun isn't actually competitive, they just find it fun. The win is a bonus tho.
The best way to sum their interactions in a simple dialogue is:
"I hate you"
"I love you too"
(Works both ways)
Both of them constantly end up playing a game of "who can flirt the longest until someone breaks"
But if both of them are at home? Especially after a tiring day? Very cozy and quiet. Sometimes even having an entire day without talking. But I think those are some of the best moments for them.
Either just watching a movie, reading books, or just lazing around with the cats.
#THE VOICES#the voices won't shut up#if I add anymore I might just be better off sending a word document#only that I don't have a word document#only the constant stream of stories swirling around my head like a never ending perpetual soup

First of december, the only acceptable time to start decorating for christmas in my opinion 🎄🎁 that leads me to my first queation:
Are you more of a christmas lover or halloween lover? Some people, start decorating as soon as halloween is over while others (me included) are still kinda sad halloween is over. Which one are you?
I see you like writing, which is so cool, cause i wish i had the talent and time to write. Who are your favorite authors and what are your favorite books/ book genres?
I saw the post with your embroidered scrunchy, it turned out amazing. What else do like to do creatively in your free time?
Also, i see we have some stuff in common, jake lane and we both like horror movies. What are your favorite horror movies and which ones do you think the boys could survive in and which they wouldnt last five minutes? What roles would the boys adopt?
This is it for today. Hope you have a great day <3
-Secret santa💫🎅
HI SANTA!!!
Well since you asked…
1. I am an avid Halloween lover! Dress up every year! (And I may or may not still have some Halloween decorations up.. oops). Now that doesn’t mean I don’t love Christmas. There’s something about Christmas that is just so special and it deserves all its hype, in December where it belongs, or in my case usually January because that always seems to be when my friends and I can get together for our annual Friendsmas
2. I do like to write! Sometimes I psych myself out into thinking I’m not that good but I keep doing it so 🤷♀️ As far as reading goes, I don’t remember that last time I read an actual book. I know terrible. I like the idea of reading but I don’t have the attention span for it. I think that’s why I like fanfiction so much (I’ve read fanfic for yeeeears) because you’ve already got the basics, you know the characters, and you can just jump right into the good stuff. Maybe one of these days I’ll do better and read a good book or even better find a series I like
3. In my free time I am torturing myself with more needles as I have started my next scrunchie hopefully this one turns out good too 🤞 I like art stuff in general but again I’m just mid at most things so it’s just dabbling here and there
4. Horror is by far my favorite genre of movie there’s so many good ones! But to just name a few favs that pop into mind: Event Horizon, Ghost Ship, 13 Ghosts, An American Werewolf in London, aaaannndd the 1985 movie House, among many many others. As far as Greta in horror movies I never really thought about it but now that you have my gears grinding it would be hilarious to see them in a situation like Cabin in the Woods considering that movie already plays on the horror stereotypes. I think Josh would be the scholar, Danny would be the athlete, Sam would be the fool, and Jake would be the whore (come on now 😏). I think they would fare pretty well in supernatural based movies but make obviously stupid decisions to get themselves all killed in slasher movies
Also you didn’t ask me this but my mind is off in its own world now. I’m also a huge Scooby-Doo fan and wouldn’t a Greta X Scooby cross over be so fun!
Well I hope I answered everything and I hope YOU have an excellent rest of your day. Till we meet again 💕🎄
