Before she reached the institute, after she executed Kellogg, Wednesday would have colorful dreams about torturing him. They became far and in-between once she meets Father. But there is still a odd fantasy to have him rebuilt so she could kill him again. One for Shaun and one for Nate, she is no better than a Raider.

🧡 - Physical touch: good or bad for this oc?

Its complicated? Both X6 and Shaun will tell you that that lipstick she wears is a bitch to get off. She cuddles, woman is a fiend for hugs and hand holding. But when helping settlements by giving extra aid, if someone were to hug her, she'll be very stiff. Indifferent even.

Not that she doesn't care, its more of a PDA thing. Or the "If a settler sees me being vulnerable they wont respect me" type of mindset. :(

A book you'd recommend to your younger self?

Oh you know what? I wish I could have Little Sonny read Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. I read it for the first time when I was around 19, and as much as I loved it, I know I would've enjoyed it so much more as the target age group. I was very much a fantasy kid, and I still think it's weird I somehow didn't read it then. My only guess is that a copy just wasn't in my school library, so where would I have come across it? If I could time travel and leave a copy on Little Sonny's pillow, though, I would. It's such a fun, cozy, and well developed kid fantasy. The world-building is fantastic, Sophie is SO funny, and Howl is kind of me. Over all, I just know I would've developed a very special bond with it.

Also, I think I'd have been more likely to continue the series if I'd started then. I was less likely at that age to get attached to specific characters over a universe, and having the second book in the series not mention Howl and Sophie at all wouldn't have put me off in the same way it did at 19.

A book featuring the found family trope?

The first that comes to mind is The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson, which is a very touching coming-of-age story. It centers on a twelve-year-old boy, a pair of siblings (new to town), and his weird uncle, all who spend the summer together exploring their town's ghost stories and urban legends. It does that really special thing all good CoA stories do, where it makes you feel warm and fuzzy but also devastated at the same time. The MC forms really deep, complex, and lasting relationships with these two other kids that no one else in town their age likes. They get to be weirdos together, have fun, and explore and learn about themselves, as well as the town around them from someone older who, you get the sense, was once very much the same kind of kid they are. It's got a lot of incredibly loving and silly goofy moments, all with this undercurrent of mounting dread, because the 'devastated' aspect of this story is the MC having to learn a painful lesson: sometimes there's something deeply wrong with the people you love and there's nothing you can do about it.

Honestly, really, truly, it's one of my favorite books ever, and if you can get your hands on it, I think you should! It makes you cry in all the best ways, and when it ends, your heart feels so so full <3

A book with a satisfying ending?

Sisters of the Crimson Vine by P.L. McMillan! This is another book I've gotten one (1) other person to read and been so pleased with myself over the fact. It's a quick and weird little folk+cosmic horror blend that also hits some of my favorite gothic fiction notes (repression, taboo sexuality, & desire as consumption). It follows the MC after he wakes up in an isolated convent following a freak car accident, and the escalatingly weird, dangerous, and supernatural events that play out while he's there. It's a lot of fun if you're a fan of simultaneously creepy and sexy nuns (who's relationship with the MC kind of gave a more punched-up version of Jonanthan Harker's relationship with Dracula, to me), children-of-the-corn-esque religious cults, and off-kilter relationship dynamics.

What made the ending so satisfying, I think, is that about a third of the way in, how I initially wanted the story to end did a 180. From like the first three pages up until that point, I had a very particular way I wanted the story to go, but the growing companionship between the MC and the sisters of Crimoria Convent just, at a certain point, hits like a truck. And from then on I was desperately hoping what I first wanted WOULDN'T happen. And lucky me! It didn't! Things wrapped exactly how I (secondarily) wanted, with there still being lots of great weirdness and gore to keep that part of my brain satisfied.

Your favorite book about magical realism?

It's got to be Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia for this one, which is a nice blend of Mayan mythology, historical drama, and magical realism. The story follows a young girl who gets swept up into a clash between the god of death and his brother who, in league with the MC's grandfather, sealed him in a box. It's simultaneously a family drama, a love story to mythology, and the MC's struggle for liberation and agency, set on the backdrop of Jazz Age Mexico. It hops between her nowhere hometown, booming Mexico City, and the Mayan Underworld, and does a phenomenal job of blending the reality and fantasy. It's honestly the best example I can think of for this particular brand of world-building. On top of that, the relationship between the MC and death god is just! So interesting! I loved the slow build of trust and understanding between them, and how, especially from the god's perspective, you could really feel that shift.

I can't lie, there was a huge discrepancy between the ending I WANTED and the ending I GOT; but to be fair, the ending I WANTED wouldn't have been nearly as emotionally rounded or ultimately as satisfying. It's one of those that, if you're like me, you have to sit with for a minute to really appreciate, but once you do, it feels right and good and perfectly suited to the narrative's needs.

For Mel: Hunting. She's an amazing marksman, so hunting game should be the perfect outlet, but she finds it... gross? The idea of killing defenseless game doesn't sit well with her (though killing unarmed soldiers is fine, she's a little messed up in a LOT of ways)

For Ayami: She often sees the kindness of others as fake, mostly because of her mother. It takes a good long while before she sees the Scions love for her as genuine, and once she does she has a bit of an emotional meltdown. Now any time they show care for her she gets a little weepy.

For Crescent: "It doesn't bother me". Crescent is weird in that they aren't the person who's face they wear. They don't know who or what they are, where they came from, or why they're here. They like to pretend that they're not bothered, but even after getting partial answers, they're still haunted by their lack of memories from before...

4. Do they have any childhood scars? A. Iverelle has her scar on her nose, which she got while exploring some old Gelmorran ruins! She was trying to get through a tunnel she hadn't explored yet, and happened to trip on an overgrown root. Busted her nose right open, and the star stuck with her until the light aether smoothed it over! There's still a little bit on her non-statue side that's visible!

6. Are they proud of their scar? A. Good question. Her nose scar? No, there's no real reason to be proud. It's just a wound, and that's that. Her side scar, from a fight with [REDACTED]? She hates it. She finds it a reminder of how weak she was, her failures, and she tries to ignore it being there as often as possible. The rest of her scars along her body, she's neutral about. They're just scars.

7. Do they tend to hide their scars? A. Just by nature of her outfits, she doesn't hid very much, but she's not trying to! The only scar she tries to hide is, again, her big hole in her body so as to keep people from being too curious and concerned. (She knows at least 3 people who would freak the fuck out if they saw it, besides her wife). She's willing to answer questions and talk about her other scars, though! She's not really shy about it, besides That One:tm:

Yes!! In a nutshell, the idea I've had for a bit is that Justice reversed Cyrus' asymptotic approach to Tranquility mid rescue from the Fade by the Veil Jumpers. Knowing more about what Veilguard revealed to us about the relationship between spirits & elves (as well as confirming now that we're never revisiting red lyrium Meredith, which. Btw. Why did Absolution have all that only for VG to ditch red lyrium entirely...), I think I need to revisit that ides & firm it up/write more of the details rather than just the broad conceptual strokes, but that core of it--Cyrus being touched/possessed by Justice and through that intimacy finally unshackling himself from Kirkwall--is very important to me

I actually haven't thought that much about what Cyrus would be like as a DA mage beyond the certainty that he would be a blood mage. I'd say all he'd want out of the blood mage tree is the ability to power his spells with his life, but then I remembered that in Act 3 he gets a mind control sword that he has no qualms about using SO??? Grind him into the dust enough and he might use blood puppet

In terms of schools, I think he'd have some primal for fire & lightning offensive spells, and then a lot of support, buff, and heal spells from the creation tree. Maybe some of the anti-magic spirit tree too. He wants to support & protect his loved ones!!!

Being a knight enchanter would, I think, also be extremely good/healthy for him, allowing him to fight up front & heal/buff while also investing in his own survival more than he is generally inclined to

favorite from the undersea: marinated octopus (fresh octopus soaked in ones brine of choice, usually a vinegar and soy sauce base with sweet/savory/spicy additions. Corro's favorite marinade is sea plum vinegar, sweet soy sauce and ginger paste. Makes a chewy and slurpable snack!)

favorite from the oversea: barbeque, he is Enamoured with the concept of slow roasted meat drowned in seasonings that you're supposed to make a total mess eating. Freaked out his hosts the first time he tried it by eating the rib Bones as well as the meat

Okay but Lae'zel and Gale.

Gale 'I like your musk' and Lae'zel 'I want to taste you'. Gale 'I read that the adrenaline from fighting makes you horny' and Lae'zel 'the battle rage is in my blood - and yes'.

Gale taking notes during the ceremorphosis lesson while everyone else is flinching. Lae'zel kicking Elminster out of camp and then pulling Gale up by his collar snarling for him to pull himself together and acknowledge his own power and strength, or so help her she'll throw him into the dirt.

Gale being smart enough to see the zaith'isk for what it is and talking Lae'zel through (or out of) the procedure. Lae'zel and Tara bonding over killing animals and bringing them to Gale to cook (Tara's not even going to be mad that Gale would prioritise a boar over a pigeon).
