How Highly he Thought of You
Tumblr media
Look, I really just want to say that if this is a trial based on Yoda's deepest fears and desires, meaning one of his desires is for Obi-Wan to have known Dooku
If this is how Yoda wants things to be, he wants Dooku to still be with the Jedi and he wants Obi-Wan to know him. Yoda knows Obi-Wan would adore Dooku, he knows that if Dooku was still there, the loss of Qui-Gon might've not ruined him so much, because Dooku would be there and maybe Obi-Wan would've been okay.
Look how Obi-Wan doesn't take his eyes from Dooku, he adores him, he cannot stop smiling and he's just so invested in everything Dooku has to say. This is a child wonderstruck by old stories their Grandfather tells them. This is the Obi-Wan Yoda knows he would be if things hadn't gone how they had. He'd be happy, Yoda sees Obi-Wan's suffering and his strength and loyalty to the Jedi, he sees all that and knows Obi-Wan isn't happy, that he carries such a burden, so in Yoda's utopia there is such an emphasis on Obi-Wan's happiness because it isn't fair for Obi-Wan to suffer so much when he's never strayed from the light.
Yoda knows this, and he knows if he still had those two, Obi-Wan wouldn't suffer so.
Think of Obi-Wan's seat on the council too, we know Dooku was offered a seat and that Qui-Gon was too, then Obi-Wan and Anakin. Their entire (disaster) lineage was offered council seats, perhaps because Yoda, though Jedi cannot form attachments, offered Obi-Wan that seat because of how much it meant for Yoda to have one, one that turned out okay. And maybe Yoda looks at Obi-Wan and sees Qui-Gon, he sees Dooku, and his pain is a little less.
One of my favorite things to do are analysis' like these, if you want to see my take on a certain scenes send a request in perhaps :3

Lieutenant Firmus Piett and his bride, Sola Naberrie, on their wedding day.
A little illustration that will join a yet unpublished fic.
This is what I envision for Piett’s Axxilan dress uniform. Any resemblance to the RCMP uniform is absolutely deliberate 😉
Sola’s dress——well. You’ll have to read the fic to understand what she’s wearing. Let’s just say Padme approves

This song is making me want to start yet another fic to never finish,, "Tell me... Where is your hideout? Who are we running from? I'm starting to think that you were right, and now I'm afraid of letting go of your hand...." Maul giving up on his Mandalore plan and deciding to just stalk Kenobi to tell him about his vision. Staying illegally in Obi-Wan's room because I love putting these guys in situations (and because Maul would NOT leave him alone until Obi-Wan actually accepted Maul is right, which he won't). Following Obi-Wan to Utapau and helping him escape after the clones attack, feeling equal parts vindicated and enraged (because he was proved right but Sidious still won). Them being on the run together....

this is for @acerathia who caught my plans for the next installment in our little universe, for @procrastination-artist who made my entire world yesterday and as always for @ofmermaidstories to help bring some good deku vibes
here’s our introduction to Jedi!Deku x reader 💚

(also here’s a lovely and fancy Naboo hallway for reference)
*:・✧*:・゚✧
Naboo is something out of a dream. It is all the stories and mythical children’s tales he used to read as a boy come to life. It truly is the beautiful elegant planet sitting among the wild edge of space.
Now as a man, as a Jedi, Izuku of course can appreciate how splendid and awe striking the planet is. But a deep grim reality peeks out from the back of his mind. The investigation into the attack on the Jedi temple has brought him here.
“There are unfortunate rumors now coming out about one of the Naboo senators has been very vocal against us.” Older and gauntly in appearance yet still incredibly legendary, Jedi council member Toshinori told Izuku of his assignment.
“We are not sure about how serious the allegations are but at this point we need to investigate any rumor. And…funny enough this actually works out perfectly. Naboo has been requesting us for some time to possibly send a knight as an extra guard to help with the political unrest going on in the system.”
Izuku nodded at his mentor’s request but he still needed to ask. “Why send me?”
Toshinori smiled kindly and patted Izuku’s shoulder. “You still seem to forget you are now the hero of this generation my boy, a true honor to the title of jedi knight. They will trust you.”
So Izuku took on this assignment with honor.
“Ah! Oh my goodness there he is, a Jedi knight!” His resolve of course is already getting.
Izuku has only been on Naboo since this morning and he has awkwardly had to laugh and greet so many civilians rushing up to him with eager awestruck eyes. Now finally away from the main city and safe within the palace’s grand hallways, Izuku finds a bit of peace before he has to face his assignment.
The Monarch of the planet has requested his presence. He thanks the force for already setting this into motion. As if to bless him even more a breeze flutters into the open walkways and provides a beautiful sense of peace.
He turns the corner. There, at the edge of the steps to a bottom corridor, he finds someone sitting. Izuku’s curiosity peaks up so fast.
The robes and mostly covered face…
“You’re a royal handmaiden.” He breathes out in awe.
He’s never seen one in person and he’s surprised seeing you alone. Shouldn’t you be with the Crown? Now he flat out stares and it’s like two terrified lothcats waiting for the other to move first.
That’s when Izuku spots it. A pack of various breads and sweet baked treats sitting right beside you, one of them is already half eaten.
“Don’t tell anyone you saw this!” Your voice, so fast and panicky, suddenly blurts out like you’ve been caught red handed and Izuku can’t help it.
He laughs as his stomach growls at the sight of the beautifully baked goods.
“I won’t…Just as long as maybe I can get a bite of one of those?” Izuku asks shyly.
Your shoulders drop surprised. He’s even surprised. But what surprises him more is that even with the robe’s hood hiding most of your face, your welcoming grin shines out from under the covering.
“Sure, I’ve never eaten with a Jedi knight before.”
Izuku gladly takes a seat besides you and warmly thanks you as you hand him a piece of your stash. He takes a bite and his evergreen eyes go wide.
“This is amazing!” He gushes.
“Right? A lot of people don’t know this but Naboo actually has a knack for baked goods.” You tell him friendly.
“I would’ve never known! Now I’m really glad I got to try some and on my first day here.” Izuku means his words. He’s grateful to experience Naboo this way before he has to dig deep into its dirt.
“We heard there was going to be a new guard around. I just didn’t expect to see a famous Jedi knight.” You comment.
Izuku coughs embarrassed as he tries to still enjoy the next piece of the bread you’ve given him.
“Well, I’m just a knight. Nothing too special.”
You hum a teasing type noise at him and your lips twitch amused. A wave of heated embarrassment crawls up his skin. But he also thinks it might just be the mid afternoon heat of the planet itself. Izuku never expected Naboo weather to be like this.
“Is it always this hot?” He can’t help but ask.
“Not normally. This spring is just turning into summer faster.”
“I bet. In all those robes I’m impressed you’re handling this better than I am.” He replies to you a bit sympathetic. He couldn’t imagine being in so many long and layered robes along with having most of his face covered.
“Oh I’m used to it.” You snort. “And besides, this always helps.”
Suddenly you reach to draw the robe’s hood back and he sees you for the first time.
Your face is a bit sweaty from being under the hood for so long. A sigh of relief escapes you and your eyes mirror that. Turning to him you smile a weak almost bashful thing.
You’re stunning. Izuku justifies his blatant staring as simply appreciating the new beauty this planet has greeted him with and you so far are his favorite.
“I thought royal maidens couldn’t reveal their identity?” He asks so curious and even a bit stunned.
“Eh.” You tell him so casually with a shrug he almost snorts. “The Queen is the only one who’s identity is hidden. We’re just the entourage, nobody really cares or notices us.”
A small pang now hits inside of Izuku.
“Wait that’s not true!” He suddenly tells you. “I’ve read so much about the Naboo and of course I came across the role of a royal shadow! I remember reading that they have to know so much! The issues of Naboo, anything else going on with the Galaxy, they need to be aware of it all just in case they have to refresh the Crown’s knowledge. It’s all so impressive!”
Izuku watches your eyes go wide and oh no he’s rambled on too much like he always does.
“I’m sorry!” He’s quickly stammers out now so very embarrassed. “I just…I’ve never been here before funny enough, so this is all kind of exciting for me.”
You laugh, but it’s warm and friendly making his heart do an interesting spin. Izuku watches you break off another piece from the dwindling snack stash and hand it to him. He flings it into his mouth quickly to shut himself up from rambling any more.
“Our queen is going to love you.” You tell him with a gentle nod as you munch on the sweet bread. “There’s a lot going on and hearing someone like you speak so excited about this placeit’s wonderful.”
A bright electricity spreads from his chest down to his finger tips as if the force had just ran through his veins. “O-oh! Well, t-thank you!”
He feels like he is back to being a a nervous boy in training when Uraraka used to hand him an extra training saber. Izuku knows those feelings however, this rush of being flustered, needs to be fluttered away.
So he turns the tables. “I am excited for the meeting too. I’m sure the royal court is going to interested to hear how I found a handmaiden hiding away and snacking.”
You gasp horrified. He laughs and finds he enjoys seeing how fast your face scowls hard at him.
“I thought Jedi knights were suppose to be peace keepers, not little shits like you!”
He laughs even harder. “I’m definitely telling the Crown how vulgar and rude you are too.”
“I’m going to be the one talking to everyone first and I’m warning them about how awful you are!” You childishly fire back but it’s without malice because your voice cracks. Suddenly you’re laughing too. You and him simple simple and enjoy this fresh feeling of meeting someone new.
You sigh settling yourself down and look out to the stretch of the empty palace hallway.
“Everyone, even our beloved ruler, would understand if you told them you found me like this though…we all know sometimes we just need a moment to ourselves.”
Your voice grows wistful and even a bit vacant.
A sudden wave of understanding leaks in him. He has mediated alone often because this life, this path he’s taken, sometimes needs to be sorted through. Just sitting here now he already feels as if he is teetering between that duality of being both Jedi knight and a man simply enjoying the company of someone lovely.
“Well. We ate all my snacks.” You suddenly snort. As you stand to leave, Izuku finds he’s already missing you. “Guess my break is over, plus I’m sure you have places to be Sir Jedi.”
The title…it is indeed who he is, but right he just wants to be-
“Izuku.” He clarifies. “My name’s Izuku.”
You repeat his name and his body goes light. You freely give him your name and he holds onto it so precious.
“I guess I’ll see you later then, Izuku.”
And he does see you later.
In the grander of the Crowned One’s thrown room, the entire royal court including senators sits in a circle around the sovereign. He however looks past that. A small circle of royal handmaidens surround the monarch from the back like silent all matching shadows. Izuku can’t help it. His eyes scan the matching robes hoping to find your familiar face or even just a small knowing grin being sent his way.
“Jedi Knight Izuku. Welcome to the planet of Naboo.” Then the monarch’s voice, so commanding and hauntingly even toned, greets him. His eyes go wide for a moment.
How did they know it was him coming?
Then a soft fondness fills his chest. Of course, you really did tell everyone about him first didn’t you.

Luke skywalker would not perform Nabooian rituals
Leia Organa would not perform Nabooian rituals
neither of them were born on naboo. Neither of them were raised with Nabooian culture. Why is it so hard to see people representing their upbringing as it was.
Show Luke making a recipe he learned from Beru, or Leia knowing a lot about alderaanian history. Something like that

Left Me with You
Anakin hated when he took away Obi-Wan's happiness, even if it was just pretend.
Sad Obi-Wan is just my favorite thing to write. Apparently. This fic is kinda long and is already up on my Ao3.
─── ❖ ── ✦ ── ❖ ───
It wasn't often that Obi-Wan and Anakin got to go on meditative retreat together. But even then, as Obi-Wan sat in the field, eyes closed and legs crossed, he could feel it within him, Anakin would be happier if he wasn't here. Obi-Wan opened his eyes, brows furrowed and a concerned frown. He wished he could talk to Anakin about it, but talking wasn't something they did. Obi-Wan wondered of all Anakin would say, if he could speak openly of his love, Obi-Wan smiled at the thought of Anakin, the sparkle of love in his eyes. The sparkle of life. But that smile didn't last long, Anakin would never tell him all about his love, and Obi-Wan would never ask. He wouldn't ruin Anakin's happiness, it was such a rare thing, and Obi-Wan never wanted Anakin to go without it, not if he didn't have to.
Obi-Wan stood up, wrapping his robe around him as he started back to the small vacation home Padme had so graciously allowed them to stay in. He walked among the wildflowers, but he didn't stop to pick a few. They were beautiful, but the moment he touched them, the moment he plucked them from their home, they would die, the moment Obi-Wan touched those beautiful flowers, they would die. So he kept walking, he let them live, he would not touch them, and he would live because Obi-Wan didn't go anywhere near them.
Reaching the house, he took off his sandals and walked into the kitchen. He looked on the counter and saw a vase. Obi-Wan felt as if he'd been struck, those flowers, those beautiful flowers that Obi-Wan had been so tempted to kneel down beside, to take in the smell of spring, to pluck them from their home for his own selfish desires. Those beautiful flowers were impossible not to notice, and now they were on full display as they died- "Hey Obi-Wan," it was Anakin's voice, but Obi-Wan could not stop the ringing in his head long enough to focus, "-picked the flowers-" The sound of flickering embers. "-They're really nice, they smell really good-" he would've led such a meaningful life. "Obi-Wan?"
Obi-Wan looked up, he found Anakin, "Oh, Anakin," a familiar smile found its way to Obi-Wan's face as he walked over and smelled the flowers, 'I'm so sorry, Master-' he closed his eyes, the smell of spring, early morning rainfall and late night firefly catching. He opened his eyes, "How was the lake?"
Anakin's own smile flickered on his face, but if Obi-Wan didn't want to talk, they wouldn't. Talking wasn't something they did. "It was nice, Master." Anakin remembered fondly, "The water was cool but in the sun," Anakin chuckled, "Man, I almost fell asleep, that's why I came back," Anakin opened the fridge with the intention of finding a snack but he couldn't help his thoughts wandering and lingering on Obi-Wan. Even though they hadn't even been remotely close, Anakin could sense his Master's sorrow. He'd worried about this. He hadn't wanted Obi-Wan to come to Naboo, Anakin had asked Obi-Wan if he'd want to go somewhere else, anywhere else but here. Anakin could sense it since the moment they arrived, Obi-Wan would be happier if he wasn't here.
"Master," Anakin's voice seemed on edge, it certainly caught Obi-Wan's attention, for Anakin could sense Obi-Wan straightening up and crossing his arms. Prepared to ricochet any shots.
"Yes, Anakin?" But his voice was soft, giving nothing away, not his fear, not his anger, not his sorrow. Obi-Wan was always so good at pretending, but Anakin knew that for all of Obi-Wan's confidence, he didn't really mean it.
"We're still gonna be here in four days," Anakin could dance around the point, that was how it worked. Neither one of them dared to look the other in the eye, for both were far too afraid to address all the damage they'd done to the other.
"Yes, we are," Obi-Wan nodded, walking over to the cabinet and looking at the tea. He was so good at that. "Do you want a cup of tea?" He wasn't going to give in, he couldn't.
Anakin nodded, maybe he should drop it, but how could he ignore Obi-Wan's trembling hands? "Master," Anakin said again, Obi-Wan turned, that knowing smile on his face. "It'll be twelve years..."
Obi-Wan felt as if he'd been punched in the gut, the mug became impossibly heavy he could only put it down. His stomach twisted in knots as he struggled to turn to meet Anakin's gaze, "Yes," He mustered out, but his voice trembled. Every year, from the first year to today, Obi-Wan was never any better, he never missed Qui-Gon any less. Obi-Wan resigned, bowing his head, looking down at the counter, "Why do you bring it up?"
Anakin might as well of gut punched Obi-Wan then and there, that would hurt less. He looked at his master, hunched over, fists clenched Anakin could see the white of his knuckles, stray hairs hiding his face and his shoulders tense. He shouldn't have said anything. They didn't talk about things like this, this was why, Anakin. "-When I lost my mother," Anakin's throat went dry, he found it so hard to speak. "When she died-" he looked away, "I can't remember what she sounds like," Anakin wanted to laugh, if only to show Obi-Wan he was okay. "I don't remember her laugh or that song she'd sing while doing laundry, even though she sang it every time she did the-" Anakin hung his head, oh- Oh. What had he done?
Obi-Wan looked up through his hair, he looked terribly alone. "Anakin..." Obi-Wan walked over to Anakin, reaching out his hand, but Anakin remembered the point of all this pain.
"-I still think about my mother, so I know you still think of Qui-Gon." Anakin's voice was quiet, but Obi-Wan heard, like blaster fire, it was all he could hear, it was deafening.
It might've taken Anakin losing his own mother to realize the root of all those tears Obi-Wan cried. He remembered those first few weeks, Obi-Wan was sad all the time, he'd cry after he'd put Anakin to bed, he'd cry after meetings with the council, he'd cry, hand covering his mouth as he realized he was really pathetic. To still not be alright, to still be crying months after. To always be sad. Anakin knew now, Obi-Wan felt like a scared little kid, so he'd cry, he'd cry and cry hoping Qui-Gon would come to tell him not to be afraid, to sing a lullaby and silly songs while doing laundry. But he never came and one day Obi-Wan stopped crying, he didn't cry after a hard mission, not a tear after remembrance ceremonies, not even watery eyes after being told 'you're so much like your master.' Obi-Wan didn't cry, but he cut his hair, meditated on sleepless nights, held his lightsaber to stop his shaking hands. But he did not cry, he did not cry. He would not cry, not in front of Anakin, not in front of anyone. Not anymore.
The tears stopped but the pain never did. It was only a few short years ago Obi-Wan decided he would never cry in front of Anakin and up until now Obi-Wan stood by his vow. But here, right now, Anakin knew him completely, all his pathetic pain and sorrow. His infinite sadness and self-effacing jokes. He'd never let anyone know how sad he would always be, certainly not. But he couldn't hide his water-colored eyes from Anakin, even though they didn't talk, of course he knew. Obi-Wan's voice trembled and all the strength and poise he'd so carefully crafted fell apart. Obi-Wan felt his eyes water, "Oh, Anakin," his voice cracked, "I'm so sorry-" Obi-Wan shook his head, he couldn't look at Anakin, not after the face he made. Oh, Anakin's face. All of Obi-Wan's pain fell into embarrassment, he couldn't pull himself together, and he was so sorry that he couldn't. "I'm sorry, Anakin, for all of this-" for all of me-
Anakin felt everything within him stop, he couldn't think, he couldn't move, he couldn't breathe, Obi-Wan hadn't cried in so long- and all it took was Anakin to open his damned mouth to change that. "Please don't cry, Master, please Obi-Wan-" Anakin looked down, voice trembling, all he could do was beg, "I hate it when you cry-" He really did, he hated not being listened to, being talked over and feeling powerless, but what he hated most, more than his own pain and frustration, what seeing that frustration in those he loved. He hated when Padme worked really hard on a speech to not be heard at all, when Ahsoka cried because she missed her friends, when Rex lost a brother. Anakin hated that he couldn't take their pain away, and most of all, he hated that Obi-Wan was sad, he hated that nothing would ever make him truly happy, Anakin hated he couldn't do anything to ease his pain, he hated when Obi-Wan cried because he became powerless, Anakin was a little kid all over again, unable to think because, like his mother, there was nothing he could do to make her tears stop, there was nothing he could do to make Obi-Wan's tears stop.
Obi-Wan wiped his eyes, his forced smile was so similar to his real one, if Anakin didn't know Obi-Wan, he wouldn't know the difference. How many people didn't know the difference? "Anakin, I do apologize," Obi-Wan took a deep breath, pulling himself back in, shoving all this pain down. He came over to Anakin and pulled his former padawan into a hug, "I'm alright, we'll be alright." His voice was so assuring, so knowing, so void of all his suffering. There it was, that holy resignation. Obi-Wan forgetting himself for the sake of others around him, there it was, his unrequiting selflessness.
Anakin held him tightly, just for a moment as he was safe in his master's arms, he felt a wave of grief sweep him out to sea, his feet swept out beneath him; Anakin was so afraid to let go of Obi-Wan, for he'd surely drown, "I miss my mom-" he'd never admit this, not now anyway, but he'd let himself remember his mother's smile, that soft glow in her eyes, the lines of age framing her eternal beauty, he could almost hear her now, "I still feel like a little kid without her-"
Obi-Wan would not let go until Anakin was ready, and when he was, Anakin wiped his eyes, stepping back into the man he'd grown into, a man without a mother. He looked down at Obi-Wan and he didn't see his Master, he saw a man without a father. It was just the two of them as they were, true Jedi: without a mother, without a father. Their family was the Jedi, but to consider the Jedi their family would be forming an attachment, would it not? Obi-Wan had long pondered that, late into sleepless nights, staring at the ceiling. If he was supposed to be ever compassionate, ever loving; if he was raised to love through love, it was rather hard to not become lost in feelings of attachment. "... That never really goes away." Obi-Wan whispered, he still felt like a padawan, he always wished Qui-Gon was still here, that Obi-Wan was still a son. But he wasn't, and Obi-Wan wasn't.
Anakin held his master tight, but not out of his own sorrow, what about Obi-Wan? Anakin remembered council meetings, the two watched by all of their ever-caring stares, all debating Anakin's future with the Jedi, but what about Obi-Wan? If they ever asked about his well-being, Anakin would never know if, in those early days, they made Obi-Wan feel worse by questioning his ability to do this on his own. "Master," Anakin pulled out of their hug, Obi-Wan was all put back together again, with tape and glue, "You don't have to pretend you're alright, not with me."
Obi-Wan's smile flickered, that sadness flooding back into his eyes, "Anakin," Obi-Wan looked down, he almost wanted to laugh, "Oh, you've grown up, haven't you?" He saw Anakin's smile, too bad it was born from sorrow, "You've become the Jedi I always dreamed you would be."
"-And you've become the Jedi Qui-Gon always dreamed you would be-" Anakin put his hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder, he didn't need to be told, but perhaps it was a nice reminder, "Qui-Gon would be proud of the man you've grown into, Master, you are an honorable Jedi, and a good master, even if at times I didn't think so." This time Anakin laughed, and Obi-Wan almost did too. There was a moment, Obi-Wan had fallen into his thoughts but Anakin's voice brought him back, "What I'm saying, is that it's okay to tell me that you miss him," It's okay if you tell me that you cut your hair after I told you that you looked like him; It's alright if you tell me you hold onto your lightsaber because it makes you feel safe; It's okay if you tell me you meditate instead of sleeping because you only have nightmares of that day; It's okay if you tell me you cry when there's no one around because you want everyone to think you're okay now. "It's okay for you to miss him, Obi-Wan, I know how much you loved him-"
Anakin watched Obi-Wan's eyes flicker, perhaps with surprise, perhaps embarrassment, as if loving the man who raised you as his own was something to be ashamed of. As if mourning Qui-Gon like Anakin mourned his mother was wrong. Anakin put a reassuring hand on Obi-Wan's shoulder, sensing the cracks in his master's facade, "It's alright.... If you tell me that you loved him-" Anakin whispered.
Obi-Wan looked up, taking a deep breath, he looked up at his padawan, oh, when did he grow up? He was far beyond that little boy on Tatooine, Anakin had grown up into a Jedi Knight, and now they served together not as master and apprentice, but side by side as Jedi Knights. Obi-Wan blinked and Anakin wasn't scared to let go of Obi-Wan's hand, he wasn't heading to the padawan dining hall, he wasn't practicing his form. No, Obi-Wan blinked and Anakin was putting himself in the line of fire to protect others, bringing meals to Obi-Wan's chambers so they can eat together, making form videos for Ahsoka, Obi-Wan had trained him as best as he was able, and somewhere in the last twelve years, Anakin grew up. Obi-Wan had a sorrowful realization from such a miraculous thing, Anakin had grown up. They worked alongside each other as Jedi Knights, and now Obi-Wan had what he dreamed of, he had what he always wanted, what Qui-Gon always wanted.
─── ❖ ── ✦ ── ❖ ───
The problem is that you're not the Jedi you should be, you're not the Jedi your master wanted and trained you to be, you're a Jedi Master, member of the Jedi Council, but really, you're still just a padawan whose master died, and you never got over it.

I have been absolutely enchanted by @nabooro's worldbuilding and conlang since I first came across it over a year ago; having recently got back into Star Wars (and, as always, coming back to my favourite planet and group of characters) I found myself wanting to write something focusing on Sabé, as I see her using this worldbuilding and conland that was created so lovingly.
This is slightly inspired by the Queen's books, which I read and enjoyed, but as I disagree with a lot of the direction the books went (either due to my own attachment to certain Legends aspects or due to the fact I just didn't like them) this fic is definitely not compliant to their canon.
I have also taken a lot of inspiration from a host of different fanfics I've read over the years, so if you see something familiar, there is a good chance I was inspired by it but didn't realise!
Anyway, this has been a lot of fun to write so I'm looking forward to sharing it :)

I'm working on a little Din x reader oneshot for Valentine's Day and I can't wait to share it 👀!! I'm finally going to fulfil a solemn duty as a Din writer by having a fic set on Naboo. That whole planet is just made for a romantic getaway, I swear.
Anyway it's entirely fuelled by listening to Across The Stars on repeat and slight deliriousness induced by my head cold lol. I'm excited to post it tomorrow!!

Facing the Krayt, part 2
Leia, in the time after poisoning Jabba, waited in silence. Her back burned with pain like knives, the perfectly parallel lines from the elctrowhip pulling and stretching as she breathed.
First dawn passed, sky alight with pinks like Nabooian lake lillies. No one came to pull her out. Second dawn approached, red like blood staining the sky. A pair of guards approached and grabbed her arms yanking her from the cellar she was locked in.
Jabba’s majordono greeted her.
“The Mighty Jabba has decided your punishment. You will be facing the Sandstorm. If you survive, you will return to misting, little girl.”
Leia’s eyes burned, and her ears rang with the rattle of bones, the roar of a Krayt Dragon. She said nothing.
Bib Fortuna appeared almost disappointed.
“Put her outside the gates. She will walk into the Dune Sea. After the sandstorm passes, we will track her chip and return her- or her body.”
Leia’s face becomes like a nabooian lake. Placid, calm.
Unfathomably deep. Filled with dangers. She walked between the guards, listening as the call of the burning sands grew louder, snippets of words beginning to become heard.
She was shoved out the back gate of the palace. Her sheer clothes providing nothing to stop the wind. Her enslaved sisters had placed what few things they had set aside outside the walls, hidden beneath a rock with a tzai plant. She covered herself in the long, midnight blue cloak. Her barefeet covered in sturdy shoes. She armed herself with protection from the Burning Suns.
Then she walked.
As both suns reached the peak of their arc, the sandstorm was seen. The whipping winds, the knife like sand, the wall of darkness.
Leia saw its approach. She pulled goggles over her eyes, a sheer scarf over her mouth and nose. She breathed as the front running dust blew past. One last breath, and the storm was upon her.
The world turned black. Her clothing ripped into by wind. The world turned red.
A voice calling from deeper in the storm.
“Come, my child. Face the storm. Face your brother. Find your soul.”
Leia reached inside herself. The fathomless deep lake. The eternal mountain storm. The endless desert. A wall cracks.
Shatters.
Her mind fills with light. Even in the midst of the sandstorm, ghosts walk beside her, their beautiful presences splitting sky from sand.
“Hello there, little ghost.”
Leia smiles. “Ben!”
Ben- Obi-Wan- smiles and starts to speak, but is yanked into the wind.
Another flash- a red bird- there and gone again.
“Oh, darling.”
Leia’s eyes fill with tears. “Daddy.”
Bail Organa smiles, and his ghostly form embraces her.
“Face your Trial, daughter mine. With courage, strength, and wisdom. Your soul is of three peoples. You honor them all.”
Leia reaches out with grasping hands, tears freely flowing.
His ghost vanishes. Leia presses onwards. A woman, face hosting crows feet and the beginning of laugh lines. Her mouth moves, but no sound escapes. Her blue shaw flaps in the sandstorm’s breeze as she vanishes.
A beautiful woman, chest filled with lights like lightning bugs, appears. “Leia… Daughter… Child of Many. What do you seek?”
Leia, crying as she smiles. “Freedom. Myself. Hope.”
Breha Organa’s face becomes more real. “The go daughter. Lukka The sandstorm has your answers.”
“Wait- Momma- don’t leave yet- I’m sorry I failed-“
Though her blue glowing figure was gone, her voice rang like the wind chimes on Alderaan. “Oh Beloved. You could never have failed. You upheld the best parts of Alderaan. You protected hope. You survived. Thats all Bail or I could ask.”
Leia knew she wouldn’t find them again in this storm.
Before her, an orange flight suit covered in jedi robes runs forwards. Luke’s curly hair bouncing as he laughs joyously. Leia chases him.
The Krayt chases the Sandstorm. The Sandstorm chases the Krayt.
He vanishes. The little red bird is hopping before her, the barest of outline. It’s beak opens.
“Why do you walk the sandstorm, Child of Me?”
“I face the storm for a call, for a punishment from Depur.”
The redbird changes, becoming a brunette with a scar and a metal tube at his waist.
“The walk, Daughter of the Desert Lakes Mountains. The Mother awaits.”
Leia walks. The Dune sea laid out before her. Far in the distance, a rock face with plants blooming out of it is visible.
Directly before her is a woman dressed in layers, a pouch with a starburst and a bronze braclet is waiting.
“Water, Seeker?”
Leia nods and drinks deeply. “What is your name, Grandmother?”
“Shmi, granddaughter. I have wondered where you were when your twin crossed the sands.”
Leia blinks. “Shmi, I think you are mistaken. I have no twin.”
Shmi smiles. “I could never be mistaken. Lukka is only given as a name when there is a Leia beside him.”
Leia is stunned. Shmi gives a small secret smile. “Walk onwards, Granddaughter. Face your mother and yourself. Walk onwards, Leia Organa Ekkreth.”
Shmi vanishes.
Leia does as bid. Sitting before the cave in bloom is a women Leia has only seen in dreams. Long brown hair, so like her own. Deep blue dress. White, star-like flowers dotting her hair and dress.
“Hello, Padmè Amidala.”
“Hello, my daughter.”
And the area fills with light. A thousand snippets of a moment. A thousand chances to see what could have been. A moment with who was.
She sees Luke being taken away, sees Bail hold her for the very first time. Sees her mother breath her last. Sees her father and her mother breathe together, love each other.
Sees Vader.
Padmè kisses her forehead and says “Face yourself, my beautiful daughter. You must remember.”
Leia grasps her hand one last time as she fades. The cave, with blooming flowers and jagged teeth. A shuddering breath like a death rattle blows past.
Leia steps forward.
———
Leia never shared what she learned in that cave. It is a small, secret vision she keeps from all but one.
But she learned. For Leia the Krayt Dragon, Elder Sister, was waiting there. And Leia knew her soul. For no chain has been made that can bind her to not escape, and none ever will.
Leia returns after 7 days in the desert. She walks through the gates of Jabba’s palace, and they did not need to track her. She was in perfect health.
Lukka Luke came the next day. Leia strangled Jabba with the chains he thought would bind her, would break her.
She freed herself and her sisters. Her sisters embraced her as she left to face the Depur of the Empire.
Lukka looks at Leia, and they both know the other like a forgotten friend come back into your life.
The Krayt chases the Sandstorm. The Sandstorm faces the Krayt.
Leia, after freeing the Empire, brings Lukka back to Tatooine. The Burning Twins help their people take back their planet.

While I’m on a roll with my Karn Family Thoughts™ I saw this, and now I really like the idea of Eedy not being a Coruscant native
Tumblr media
And it got me thinking: with her big hair and eye for appearances, wouldn’t be be delicious if Eedy was from Naboo of all places?
We all know clothing is highly symbolic and important to the Naboo. Every piece they wear communicates something specifically. Eedy is a strong believer in this too:
Tumblr media
She literally puts words to the position of Syril’s collar, “Look at me. I don’t believe in myself. I am desperate for approval.”
Then there’s the added flavour of Naboo being the Emperor’s home planet. I can just imagine her and Syril using that at every opportunity to impress imperial society.
Plus, Eedy would’ve been a young woman when Palpatine was elected senator. What if she’s followed his rise to power since then? What if he was her inspiration to leave Naboo? “If Palpatine can make it to the centre of the galaxy, then so can I.”
