srsly what is up with ppl wanting lyanna to like wallow in guilt or some shit. like yuckk

obviously she was scared at the end of her life. cause she was literally dying and was fearing for her son. her lover was dead, half her family was gone, and her lovers wife and children were just brutally killed. but none of this means she held herself solely accountable for something that was never her fault to begin with

why do you🫵🫵 want her to feel guilty for shit she didn’t do? she did not kill brandon and rickard. she did not cause robert’s rebellion either. her actions helped spark it, but so tf what? that does not mean she was directly responsible for it, and that does not mean she is responsible for all the death and destruction wrought across the seven kingdoms. i love catelyn, i love ned and sansa and literally almost all the pov characters. and guess what? most of them helped spark twot5k, which has been much much more terrible than robert’s rebellion. do i blame cat and ned for the state of their house and their children’s pain? neverrrr ever.

also, none of what i stated means lyanna wouldn’t have wished that she was there to change things or even just say goodbye. that’s only human and id be surprised if george didn’t write lyanna as someone stuck on ‘what ifs’. but so many people want her to feel guilty af as like retribution for daring to run away from a marriage she didn’t want. and that’s just eughhh on so many levels. but what’s even weirder is that whole ‘rhaegar only used lyanna for a womb’ crowd. those ppl are freaks who want her relationship with rhaegar to have been a failure and for her to have been tricked. it honestly comes off as them wanting her to have been punished for her actions. and that’s so so gross.

i'll never get over how fascinating eliot's characterization as a hitter. obviously he's trained- military, hand to hand, weaponry, martial arts- that's to be expected. but so often I think in media about like. the Best Hitters in this genre and etc they're characterized by like? not getting hit. they're sooo good that the avoid every punch and catch every kick in mid air and dodge bullets and etc and that's not Eliot at all. he lets himself get punched in the face. he gets kicked and bowled over and uses that shift in momentum to his advantage. he gets knocked to the ground and the guys he's fighting think he's down for the count for only one moment before Eliot Spencer gets back up. because he always gets back up- but that character trait is Only compelling IF he gets knocked down enough for it to MATTER. and he DOES! and his fighting skills- they're not innate, they're not a natural inclination to fighting, its training and knowledge- he can talk about details and styles at length, he can (and does!) teach the others how to take and throw a punch, which speaks even more to his skill and knowledge and ability. he's the hitter because he's been doing it so long. because he fights to survive and he isn't afraid to get hit and lose the fight to win the battle. god.
