Boromir, above all else, was a protector. He loved with his whole being, and so he would protect the things he loved at all costs. He protected Faramir from their father, he strives to protect his home, Gondor, he protected the hobbits during battles and jumped with Merry and Pippin on the crumbling bridge running from the balrog. He carried that weight.

The ring got to him because it radiated protection. From evil, from Sauron, the dark forces that were gathering at the footsteps of his home. He could protect everyone and everything he loved. And at his most human and most desperate the ring manipulated him and caused him to almost harm someone (Frodo) he swore he would protect. The devastation and shame he felt for that act, spurred him on to use every last breath to try and protect Merry and Pippin. He died feeling shame for his actions, but he died being his most core self, a protector.

Boromir “They took the little ones” really doesn’t get enough credit for how sweet he is to Merry and Pippin. Sword fighting and training with them, protecting them from orcs - despite his flaws he was kind at heart.

Big fan of sun motifs in characters not necessarily being about positivity and happiness and how they're so " bright and warm" but instead being about fucking brutal they are.

Radiant. A FORCE of nature that will turn you to ash. That warmth that burns so hot it feels like ice. Piercing yellow and red and white. A character being a Sun because you cannot challenge a Sun without burning alive or taking everything down with them if victorious.
