crowds begin to circle they observe and gasp, each one of them dressed to impress. Women in glamorous gowns with ravishing jewels hung on their necks and earlobes were seen gossiping all around, spreading the word to what was obvious in their sight.

men in their dashing suits with clean and polished shoes listened around, also exchanging words amongst the crowd to what was playing out in front of them. Everyone seemed so astonished as two figures sauntered up to one another, their gazes deadly and cold across a grand floor. Their whispers were loud but soon quiet as the lights dimmed and the music began.

"interesting seeing you here, princess."

"could say the same to you, snow white." Killua's gaze fell colder as he stared into your eyes with irritation, slowly inching your way. Those blue eyes of his looked darker than before. A playful grin tugged your lips as you took a step closer. You two were now almost face to face, staring down each other with nothing but twisted hatred and lingering feelings.

"what the hell are you doing back here Y/n?" His voice tough as tar, growling in a low mutter only you heard. His eyes narrowed down at you awaiting for your grand reply.

you click your tongue and flick your wrist up to glide your delicate digits against the fabric of his suit then rest your hand upon his shoulder.

"why.. I'm just here to dance. We are in a ballroom aren't we?" His teeth clench together in his mouth out of annoyance from your snarky comment. His hand slowly snakes itself around your torso in the elegant gown you wore for the ball.

"you know that's not what I meant. What do you want really." His other hand holds yours in a tight grasp. Your brows knit as you make a fake hurt expression when he grabs your hand with that strength.

"I'm fragile you know?" You whine, just teasing the prince. His grip tightens even more, he seems impatient with your frivolous attitude. You can't help but let out a snicker, amused by his behavior.

"you wanna know why I'm actually here?" You ask. You lean closer to the silverette, nearing his ear.

as the lights dim and the music slowly tunes in you whisper,

"to dance to the death with you, of course. My prince." You lean away to cuff his pasty face as you watch his reaction change. You two sway across the floor, staring deeply into each other's eyes once again. Killua didn't say anything but break his eye contact for a swift moment before quickly pulling you close and looking back into your curious eyes.

his feet shuffled across the floor at a faster pace that you soon adjusted to, you felt the eyes of the baffled guests watching you and him dance in circles in sync to the song playing.

the way the prince dragged you along the floor, holding your waist tightly so not to ever let you go and his hands clasped together with yours, sealed tight as if there was a secret between you two that only you knew of, swaying you to the rhythm of the dramatic song, showed his true intentions with his harsh ways with your body.

you found yourself to be enjoying it quite well. He never looked away, he wanted you to stare into his eyes, they spoke louder than words that much was true.

he looked conflicted, irritated even but still had a glint in his sapphire eyes like he was enjoying himself dancing with you once again. It felt as if you two were alone in an empty ball room, waltzing. Two deranged souls reunited once again, dancing as the world ended right in front of their eyes.

his eyes fell dark, something inside him wasn't sitting right as as he twirled your small frame with force before dipping you in a flash that caught you off guard, surprisingly.

"you've had so many opportunities to kill me, yet you haven't." He mutters softly, reminiscing about the events that transpired with you and him within the palace walls.

your breathing is heavy from the dance, breaking into a cold sweat as he holds you just with one arm. You falter at his words, letting your thoughts jumble up until everything comes to an abrupt stop. Your lips curl into a sincere smile, reaching for his cheek.

your hand touches his face, gracing your gloved thumb against it.

"I would rather just dance with you, I'll kill you later if you want." His blue eyes sparkle in your view, he's taken back. The boy lifts you slowly on your feet before sighing.

he looks at you once more, lifting your chin. He smiles.

"I'd like to see you try princess."

"I'll make sure you die a painful death prince, now can we dance?" You smack his hand away with a coy smile. He feels like he's 14 again, falling for you all over again.

now years later, ex lovers who happened to be enemies, were in the same place, at the same time, doing the exact same thing.

killua grabs back your hand and rests his other hand behind your back, you set your hand on his shoulder and hold his hand.

"dance to the death with me."

and then we ACTUALLY meet her their interactions are so sweet but also there’s a sense of foreboding because she of the look she makes when presenting the idea of him being the face of vault-tec and

I believe that she wanted to do what was best for her family, so much so that she was willing to end the world if it meant getting into a good vault

I don’t think Barb is an evil person. I think she was a scared person. It seemed like the end of the world was right at their doorstep, she already experienced first hand the worry of someone she loves going off to fight in the sino-american war.

then she got into a company that was offering a solution and it seemed like a wonderful thing she could invest in. So she rose through the ranks to secure a future for her family in a time when the future was so ambiguous and terrifying.

by the time Vault-Tec was in full swing she was in a high position, she drank the cool aid and her main focus was on protecting her family, no matter what.

I think in a desperate effort to protect her family from annihilation, she became the very driving force that destroyed the world.

there’s so much beauty in that, burning the world for the people you love.

they have complimentary color palettes! jing yuan has a lot of light associations, blade dark associations, and dan heng's teals are gradient or in between

they all have a symbolic plant of sorts, which sounds funny, but it looks pretty. the gingko and the spider lilies and the maple leaves. those are also red orange and yellow which mix well together. and imbibitor lunae has a lotus thing going on but he and dan heng mostly look visually similar

they have sun moon star symbolism. jing yuan is the sun, blade or should i say yingxing (应星) is the star, and dan heng or should i say imbibitor lunae (饮月君) is the moon. you could also argue that jing yuan (景元) is the world that the celestial bodies orbit in... the center of gravity, but also easy to overlook as an unchanging part of the surroundings...

dan heng is also wearing something associated with both of them. yes, The Relic™. BUT his coat also reads the same poem from which jing yuan took the name of starfall reverie

and lastly they are just three beautiful men okay it's impossible for them not to look aesthetic together

THE THEMES ✨

a guy running from his past, a guy chasing it down and driven perpetually by it, and a guy who can do nothing but hold onto it. it's like a soap drama of perfect proportions

i was going to say something about what each individual ship in the trio brings to the trio but i got distracted. what was i talking about again

okay, renheng has this 'thin line between love and hate going on' (因爱生恨) and it's about the extremes of passion to me. the hunter and the hunted. it's about the things from the past that should be shed but cannot be. then hengjing has the 'reconnecting through lives and through the mire of identity'. it's about forging a future uncolored by the mist of the past while also acknowledging that that past was there and meant something. then renjing has everything renjing has. renjing has

ANYWAY the point is when you put them together you net the ability to explore all of these different relationship dynamics at the same time plus trio dynamics like the mediation, the competition, each of them feeling left out in their own way, varying levels of memory, varying levels of history... a feast for the feasters

i also think jingrenheng successfully resolves all three of their issues in the sense that it's a relatively stable way for each of them to be able to recognize but also make peace with their past, and not let it impede their future. if jingrenheng actually experienced enough character development to get together and not kill each other, that would mean they have fixed things. a win for everybody.

I may not like Finwë but he deserves to be so angry that Thingol that he'd genuinely be willing to commit a kinslaying himself.

Honestly, I do think Finwë x Elwë is cute. It really is, but notice how I said Elwë, who wanted to go to Valinor simply because Finwë wanted to go there, even if the reason Finwë wanted to go there was for Míriel (which is painfully ironic, both Finwë & Elwë ended up betraying the person they were initially so devoted to).

Thingol on the other hand clearly isn't Elwë anymore. He rejected that name, he rejected Finwë's family (which might as well have been a rejection of Finwë himself since he died loving Míriel & her descendants more than he loved his own life), and stole the very thing Finwë's favorite son made that Finwë died trying to protect.

He can and WOULD be enraged over how Thingol treated the Fëanorians even before C&C stirred shit up.

Finwë feeling so betrayed by Elwë and despising the person Thingol became so much that he beats Thingol to a bloody pulp and goes to give Fëanor a comforting hug while his hands are still covered in Thingol's blood... is something helps me sleep at night.

Rotten Star was messy. Two people who misunderstood a couple situations and became messy. Heck, when Starlo and Pancake got married, MONTHS later after their rivalry ended, some of the townsfolk couldn't believe they got to that point. Some thought they were still rivals to a degree. It was that messy.

Pancake kicked Starlo in the face when they first met, after she crash landed into the Wild East one night, and thought he was gonna shoot her. Heck he had his gun out. It was self defense in her eyes. Later, Starlo saw Pancake robbing his friends. Despite the fact she said Mooch stole her stuff, she had the squirrel pinned to a wall and snarling in her face. Mooch had swipped many of her things, and that was the last straw.

Since then, they've been enemies. Pancake would rough up some monsters, steal a thing or two from Black Jack's, constantly tormented and annoyed Starlo and his posse, heck there were times she held a knife to his throat. She was a nuisance. And even tho they kinda were crushing on each other, it was messy.

When Pancake finally fell off the cliff that broke many of her bones, which Starlo was chasing and picked her up and carried her off, that's when she finally had to drop the act. Despite all she done, he still warned her about the cliff snd carried her to the hospital. That's when she decided, she was done. But despite that, she still had to fix her reputation with the townsfolk. Turning a new leaf and being seen as someone who eventually was redeemed.

Then and only then did her and Starlo's relationship finally start to grow. (Something something they only fell for each other's personas and not each other, only after did they get to see who the other truly is)
