Top 10 Teen Wolf rarepair ships? 🤔

Ok ok ok so I had to think about this real hard and i worked on this list on and off throughout the day

I'll follow the rarepair criteria that @teenwolfrarepairevents uses which is less than 500 works on ao3.

1. Jackson/Scott - I loooooooove this ship. The teen wolf movie reawakened my love for this ship for no reason other than the fact that they were in one scene together. I love the dynamics between them and the whole one-sided rivalry Jackson has and LIKE S2!!! I can't think straight when the prison transport van scene exists where Jackson overhears the conversation between Scott, Stiles and Allison.

2. Boyd/Scott - I had one of the wildest and most enjoyable times writing Trespasser and this pairing is gourmet for me. GOURMET. I need to get weirder about this ship.

3. Lydia/Scott - this can go even rarepair-er by adding Jackson and making it an ot3. I love love love Scydia!!!

4. Jackson/Scott/Stiles - when my all-time fav ships are scackson, stackson and sciles, of course it has to evolve like a pokemon into the ultimate ot3 form!

5. Derek/Scott/Stiles - no long-winded explanation required. I just love this ot3. I think I have like 5 slice of life oneshots written with this ship but I've only uploaded 1 so far.

6. A mythical rarepair that I've never even spoken to anyone about but I keep getting reminded of how I would like to make a fic for this is Sean/Mason. Who on Earth is Sean? Sean is from the Walcott family who are the Wendigos that get killed by the Mute in S4. Sean's got a cat named Willow and that's pretty much all we know about him other than the whole Wendigo thing. One of the fic ideas I had is where Sean and Mason live on the same street and Willow keeps jumping over fences and going into Mason's backyard so he attaches a note to Willow's collar just saying hi and Willow comes back the next day with a different note from Sean and it's all cute and fluffy and no hurt all the comfort.

7. Allison/Derek - it's growing on me with every post I see about it on Tumblr reblogged by fellow mutuals. I need some fic recs for this ship.

8. Derek/Jackson - listen I know this has 5 over the 500 fic limit but this deserves a spot here. I need content on them so bad but I don't like reading pwp and smut all too much sooo yeah. (That's the case between me and a lot of the more "popular rarepairs" that I ship but that's life and I enjoy it sometimes)

9. Isaac/Jackson - I think about how they're neighbours A LOT like I just KNOW there's history between them. There's playdates and babysitting by Camden and going to school together and I die on the hill childhood bffs Isaac and Jackson.

10. Nogitsune | Void Stiles/Jackson - a very self indulgent dark ship. Thinking of the kanima dynamics and how the nogitsune would love to take control over a kanima if he could.

Earthspark would of been better with evil lovers in S1. We don't get pure evil married couples alot in shows and it ANNOYS ME cause I think mandroid x karen is genuinely cute. (I say to me and the 2 other shippers aka my friends because I yapped to them about it)

Like imagine if instead of trying to kill eachother they both actually worked together to try and defeat the Cybertronians. I feel like instead of the usual villain with a soft spot trope they would be perfect to not let their love get in the way of their moral values. They treat eachother how they treat everyone else around them, cruel but work so well together and that's the only thing keeping their marriage from falling apart.

Mandroid is the brains behind the entire plans and Karen is the face, she uses her charm to manipulate people and cybertronians while mandroid focuses on weapons to get rid of the species because he knows croft has everything under control.

There's also another version I like and that them being ex's/divorced and that's why even though they work together they try to kill eachother. Just very Spiteful ex's who are forced to work together to get a job done cause without eachother their plans are doomed. Mandroid needs the extra recourses from g.h.o.s.t and Karen needs the weapons from mandroid.

I also feel like they would of met in university but I'm unsure on what course they both would of taken. I could just think of them being fresh adults and she took him to a hot topic and saw spider themed stuff and that's where he got the idea of arachnimax from.

I honestly would draw ship art of them but I can't draw humans. Low-key scared of posting this ship but it's rotting my brain so just gotta hope I don't get attacked but as far as I know the earthspark fandom is pretty open when it comes to shipping and rarepairs.

you get it. dont mind me, but this has been nagging for a few days when i saw mentions of chilaios has no 'canon basis' or along those lines or dont get why its even a thing and its really not that hard? like theres a ton of reasons why someone would gravitate this ship and for myself while i enjoy the height difference alot, its their deep mutual trust and respect that has me vice gripped. idk it seems like more ARE catching onto chilaios and its steady rising so its weird to still insist on its 'crackship' status

right??? it drives me insane. i don't know what the hell happened in modern fandom for people to dismiss ships with plenty of material to work with as having "no canon basis".

i guess it has something to do with fandom's increasing gravitation towards canon being necessary for shipping. in this fandom specifically you can certainly ship farcille by that metric, and like... god, i dunno what else. i assume they're just making shit up about how their ships of choice have a canon basis to make themselves feel better about it. bc at the end of the day, dunmeshi is not a romance, and the only kiss we ever see is from a relationship where one is in love and the other is like "aw, you're such a good friend." (kabru was real mean for that.)

either way, back to chilaios--back in my day (shakes cane), what they have was more than enough for a "valid" ship. so much so that no one would have questioned it except people who hated it. which... is probably true here as well, a lot of the time. like, dismissing a ship you don't like as being meaningless probably feels pretty good if you actually believe yourself.

you know what an actual dunmeshi crackship would be? (throws a dart at the wall) mithrun/dandan. makes no sense, right? they were in the same room maybe once, never interacted, and have no reason to interact. that's what a crackship is. it has no canon basis whatsoever.

crackships and rarepairs can overlap, and often do, but a rarepair can also be something with real canon interactions that just didn't take off in the fandom. chilbell probably still counts as one, though it does have fics and art, so your mileage may vary.

chilaios, then, with an entire fucking 14-volume-manga's worth of interactions, several of which were important specifically to the two of them, is not a crackship, and god knows it's no longer a rarepair either, if it even was back before the anime. (i know there was like, 1 fic on ao3, but the manga was being published for like 10 years so i assume the general fandom was just a lot smaller.)

calling chilaios a crackship is straight up just not true. not what that term means. they have the same amount of canon basis as multiple other popular ships, and imo they have the chemistry to back it up, but even that isn't necessary. all told it's a pretty standard ship. they're friends, there's tension between them but there's also a deep mutual trust, and there are very few chapters where they don't directly interact (either because the chapter isn't about the touden party or bc one of them isn't present).

sorry for rambling. i feel passionate about this, lmao... not even just because it's my otp but because misuse of fandom terms drives me up the fucking wall.

Of course I still ship it, I just don't talk about it or any other ships because my mind is mostly focused on Gakuyuki. Due to recent events though, Karmanami is top priority, hence why we'll be doing both.

When I started shipping them: I think it was like a day after @blueberry-4 told me she shipped them. Rarepairs have a habit of occupying my mind rent free for a considerable period of time, but you already know that, my dear friend 😅

My thoughts: I can't believe I never thought of shipping them prior to meet Blue. They're perfect for each other. They have a lot in common, like sports, one-sided crushes, love chicken (which you pointed out to me, Thorn), etc... but have enough differences to balance things out. It's especially great for Okano, not only because she deserves someone to treat her right after the Valentine fiasco with Maehara, but also because I can see Sugino aiding in her growth.

For example, I can see Sugino praising and complimenting her skills whenever they hang out and play sports (We're at friendship stage here) He may not realize how impactful his words are, how they provide validation for her hobbies and interests. This alone won't diminishes her insecurity about being "unfeminine", but it does help, and Okano will gradually learn she doesn't need to change herself for others or to fit the mold.

What makes me happy about them: All the possible cute moments and scenarios, the chance for them to be with someone after their one-sided crushes, the height difference, the blue and pink combo, and the fact this ship can work both platonically and romantically.

What makes me sad about them: That they barely interacted.

Things done in fanfic that annoy me: No fanfics so no answer. Instead, I'll tell you about the things I did in my own fanfics that annoyed me:

Alot of times, I had Sugino tease Okano and her respond with anger in true tsundere fashion. It was funny at first, but then I felt it was too OOC for Sugino. I don't think he's above teasing, but he wouldn't tease someone just to get a reaction. Since then, I toned it down, and even outright abandoned it. He'd still tease her, but very lightly and she either teases him back, or playfully swats/kicks him with a smile on her face.

Things I look for in a fanfic: Good characterization.

My wishlist: For them to move on from their crushes and just be happy.

Who I'd be comfortable them dating with, if not each other: Kurahashi for Sugino and Kimura for Okano. Basically, my old ships for them pre-Sugikano, or OCs (for Next Gen purposes...)

My happily ever after for them: They get married and have kids and a dog.

Karmanami

When I started shipping them: From the begining, right after episode 8.

My thoughts: The delinquent x nerd dynamic what sold me on the this ship. It's endearing to picture Karma being the first to fall in love, but can't bring himself to confess, but he hangs out more often with Okuda as a result.

What makes me happy about them: How Karma trusts Okuda enough to let his guard down around her. It's this honest and open nature that prevents the chances of conflicts between them. I also love how Karma prompted Okuda to improve her skills, even if it was for nefarious puposes...

What makes me sad about them: That they never became canon.

Things done in fanfic that annoy me: Nothing, actually. I've read my fair share of bad Karmanami fics, but they were mostly crack. Overall, I liked what I've read for this ship.

Things I look for in a fanfic: Nothing in particular, maybe more of Okuda unintentionally flustering Karma.

My wishlist: For them to keep in touch even after graduation, showing that even after years, they still have the easiest boy-girl relationship.

My happily ever after for them: They get married and start a family.

youre so right about narration!! i could go on all day really, its the biggest thing for me that takes a fic from good to great, especially with characters like j- characters with a persona of sorts, characters that lie to themselves or are in denial, or characters with a lot they need to sort through, and j is sort of all three in some capacity. i cannot wait for hostile takeover to update! if you ever decide to try writing a fic id love to give it a read! ive noticed you have a lot of interesting ideas about characters and their dynamics through your fanart, something i think could translate to writing well. you also clearly have an understanding of what makes a fic good- though i know from experience its often easier said than done. still, id love to see you try! this is actually my first time rp-ing canon characters, ever. right now im playing j (thanks hostile takeover) in a discord server, though i might try n soon because i reaaallly struggle with characterizing him. ive been roleplaying my whole life really! i started with roblox warrior cats though... im shuddering with you id kill for more dollxn art from you though. no pressure but you get them it seems. its been a while since i listened to final girl but its definitely their song suggestive lyrics or not i hope they die and go to robo-hell together <3 - juzi anon

I've read alotta fics in my time on the internet and honestly? I don't think I've ever read a fic that hooked me on a character narration quite like Hostile Takeover's J. J's awareness of every part of what shes doing and how shes doing it makes it even more subtle when you realize that despite all of that, she has so little awareness over what she thinks. Like she doesn't question it. Uzi's narration makes a point to show how she censors her own thoughts, she doesn't allow her mind to wander to certain parts of the past, shes completely aware of how some thoughts sound and decides against saying it all together. Meanwhile, J will go on and on about how much better the job would be without V's constant talking back and N's inability to do anything right, and in the same paragraph be constantly thinking about the argument with V, and what got V so messed up to begin with. J is like a rock, a precipice of confidence. But the moments where she doesn't know what to do, (like when she thought she was going to die in that church tower from the rising sun) its almost like she has to put on appearances even in a moment where shes completely panic-ed, that she still somehow has to pretend she knows what shes doing, even with no one around. Its why the fic made me rethink J in general, I've loved J for while but Hostile Takeover was the first time I actually was able to SEE what J could be as a character story. It really puts into perspective how important narration can be in telling a damn good story. (Sorry this became a J paragraph. I could analyze fics for the rest of my life and be happy lol)

Haha maybe one day I'll finally sit down and write. I'm not really the greatest at translating my thoughts to text, for some reason its easier for me to illustrate my feelings about a character then to write it out. The only reason I can draw fanart like that is because I analyze these characters to death lol. Looking at all the angles of two characters and then asking the question of 'what would it take for them to be on friendly terms' is a pass time I indulge it frequently!!!! Thats why I like rarepairs, sometimes they're dynamics are alot more unique than most, even if they're 2 characters that have never once canonically interacted (which is my favorite. Alot more creative thinking with that one yknow?) Still, maybe I'll get to it :O (prolly would practice writing analysis post first. because I always have to stop myself from doing it on other posts XP)

I've also grew up on roleplaying (my brother is into roleplaying and that got me started on it lol) used to roleplay on roblox even before I could read (which. isn't a joke actually. who gives a 5 year old unrestricted internet access???) funnily enough I can't even say I ever completely grew out of it, I still visit alot of roleplay maps on roblox (including WCUE!! never actually roleplayed there but I think its fun to spec) but mainly I used to roleplay on animal-based mmos like FeralHeart in my younger days.

Iffff,,, I could say anything about N's character,,, to hopefully help inspire some ability to write him (and sorry this gets its own paragraph) I would probably say that he is a very self-destructively selfless person, whos never gotten over anything or anyone in his life (I.e when V was in stasis during their time in the manor, N constantly visited her and would draw pictures of the two of them together ((as lizards)) and is kinda implied to have been reading books to her during this time. Even after getting 'digitally lobotomized', while N couldn't exactly remember V as he knew her back then, he still carried that affection he had for her all that time ago. He never stopped caring about V, even when he forgot) while I wouldn't describe N as in anyway 'innocent' or 'naive', N still has a habit of unconditionally caring about pretty much anybody lol. He had like, what, a 27 minute conversation with Uzi? And while it wasn't enough to completely convince him, it still was something that made him hesitate ("I really enjoyed our time together,"). And while I'm here (having mentioned Uzi) I would also say N is a very lonely character, seeing as he was often belittled by his peers (J) or in some cases completely ignored (V, but she had her reasons and thats a different discussion) a funny part of N's character is just how much he IS like Uzi. A person completely isolated by his kind because of how he is, who was never given an explanation as to why, why everyone is so oddly cruel to him. The biggest difference though being that N never fought it, he completely accepted getting knocked around if it meant he could stick around. It took someone else to point out how fucked his situation was to make him think twice about it. Uzi is the type of character to go down kicking screaming and punching(asterisk but thats also a different discussion), and N, despite being in such a similar place to her, isn't that kind of guy. While I wouldn't say N is the type to take everything lying down, there is something to say about just how much he is willing to take before getting angry, yknow? Overall, I think N is a very loving, loyal-to-a-fault, kinda guy, but his compassion for those around him is often times the reason he gets so tunnel-visioned in the first place (i.e causing explosions and throwing rocks and debris everywhere in a mass, angry panic, trying to go save V.) and its why he is so willing to get himself hurt in the first place. ("I really enjoyed our time together, but I can't have you shooting V with that thing.") (Or yknow, cutting his arm off, but thats alot less selfless-ness and alot more self destruction) His patience and understanding is one of his biggest strengths and somehow always the reason he gets hurt. Basically I think he need to go a lil insane as a treat.

((Oh its also good to note that his unconditional love for everyone around him is also the only reason why he has lived this far to begin with (the characters this includes: V, Uzi, AND Cyn.)))

I also think the above, is the reason why I enjoy NxDoll so much. it takes SO MUCH for him to hate someone and yet Doll did the one thing that would make him do it (hurting someone he cares about the most). I just knoooowwww if they saw eachother in that church it would've been ON. That fight would've taken out the whole god damn BUILDING. it would be two people fighting for the exact same fkcing reason!!! REVENGE!!! the horrible chain of trauma contuines with them!!! killing one will only leave the other with what remains!!!! And yet I also see them as two people who would really benefit from being on friendlier terms. Both becasue N's softness is just not something we ever see Doll treated with, and because Doll's avocation for justice might just be the thing N needs to get a god damn backbone for once and earn himself some self-appreciation.

But I also think its more fun when its enemies AND lovers.

They should make eachother worse <3

Xiaoven, Thomato and Kaebedo are all such good examples that I'm shocked I forgot to add them in the first place. and I've never heard of Touken Ranbu before, but from what you've said i am very interested!

I agree on the gen focus as well, ironically i was actually reading through a Diluc and Diona fanfic when i got this notification. Simply put, in a genfic you're far more likely to find something organic and fresh— since there's no romance involved and it focuses on the characters and the story being told.

That said, i also relate VERY hard to loving a ship so much that you'll grit your teeth through the worst fic imaginable, hehe.

For a while, I was genuinely concerned I was being a dick, or had somehow suddenly become wildly homophobic just because I could never get into the popular, beaten to death, mlm ship it feels like every fandom has.

Though, since then, I've obviously realised i just prefer rarepairs! and for the exact reason a lot of people don't like them in the first place; there's a lack of content for them, and thus less of the character is lost in the hustle and bustle, and is free to be explored.

Speaking of the degeneration of canon in the face of fanon, alot of people tend to get into media through fandom, which while isn't necessarily a bad thing, greatly increases the generation loss phenomenon.

The post you sent captures my thoughts on this perfectly— i actually lost my mind at ‘the college coffee shop au’ line because both my hands and feet wouldn't be enough to count how many times I've been scrolling through ao3 and thought: ‘not another fucking college au by someone who only knows the characters though fanfiction.’

One in particular that comes to mind as I'm writing this that you may, or may not, know is the Batman fandom, which, even as a community with an unusually high abundance of genfic, nearly every single characterisation remains the same; absolutely nothing like the true source media.

It's such a prevalent problem that comic fans and fanon fans are nigh complete opposites when compared, and most of the other batman comic fans I know outwardly despise the fandom!

And while I do genuinely enjoy reading some cliche, fanon nonsense every once in a while, I can agree as well that these are simply just not the same characters. and that really grates on you after a while.

Related to the issue of people only knowing these characters through fanon and the misinformation it causes— is people using widely known headcanons as ‘gotcha!’ on posts. Fans presenting fanon like it's fact.

A good example of this would actually be Neuvifuri, with people claiming they're related when that's just… blatantly false. you're perfectly free to have a headcanon, but you've got to remember that it's a headcanon!

ah, went on a ramble there, guess i wanted to outdo you on the wordcount, ehm? anyway, my point is. yes. I absolutely agree on everything you said. 100%. my comrade in arms for REAL.

((ps: also on a side note, aspec means anyone on the asexual and/or aromantic spectrum! asexual-spectrum specific is acespec, and arospec is for those on the aromantic spectrum respectively. So i myself am 'maybe' aromantic as well, ehe!))

yknow i say im a huge multishipper but i wouldnt actually consider myself much of a shipper at all. just open to the idea of trying everything once. the term has typically romantic connotations and follows the assumption that i think, and want, these characters to be good for eachother.

I'm, personally, less interested in the prexisting chemistry than i am in the puzzle of figuring out what differing circumstances could potentially cause two characters who have seemingly nothing in common to become eachothers everything.

This could explain my favorism towards rarepairs and more convoluted dynamics, and my aversion to popular, fluffy pairings that have already been explored a thousand times over, there's no work for me to do there.

Not to mention that when a ship becomes too popular it starts cannibalising itself, and lots of good, interesting characterisations are lost in the sea of people bending characters into pre-orchestrated, saccharine dynamics. alot of which are usually downright fetishy in nature, particularly in mlm pairings.

I mean i would say being able to get ooc and self indulgent is downright mandatory for making a good fic, but there's only so many times i have to read a fic about a big, overprotective, manly-man top who does all the work and the shy, small, swoony, softhearted femme-wifey-bottom before it starts to just be lazy.

I actively have to go out of my way to search 'switch' tags if i want true-to-the-character, mutual emotional reciprocation. which i really, really shouldn't have to do as an ace person who actively skips through nsfw.

And it's not that popular wlw pairings aren't guilty of these problems aswell, but those tend to lean more into the 'soft lesbians who can do no wrong' stereotype, which always completely (butch)ers all nuisance that makes the ship worth shipping in the first place.

As well as that's if they're even the focus of the story at all and aren't just shoved to the side by the main mlm couple. mlw pairings can be culpable of both these things, with the added risk that you find out the author made a twitter post with the characters in front of the 'super straight' flag.

Though i also wonder if me being aspec plays any part as again; im not as interested in the romantic aspects as i am in the possible hurdles they may face throughout the potential relationship.

Looking back at my history with Sonic... it's so fucking surreal that I got to witness the births of 90% of this fandom's pairings.

I remember when Sonails used to be the absolute norm along side Sonally because most people were on the fence about whether Tails was a boy or not so they just defaulted to making him a girl. I still remember reading fanfics that referred to our little yellow menace as "she". This quickly got shut down though when Sega confirmed Tails as a "he". Sonails fell into obscurity because "GAY BAD" and it hasn't quite recovered from it... I dont think the people of today really want it to... but you can't really blame them. Nowadays it's hard to even imagine that Tails could've been mistaken for anything other than a dude. History is so fun lol.

I remember when Sonadow was invented. With the rising popularity in anime (specifically shounen anime), Shounen-Ai was creeping its way up there. Gay relationships were so goddamn taboo compared to nowadays but goddamnit if the taboo didn't capture your heart in some weird demented way- then I guess people got tired of the soft and fluffy "Shounen-Ai" and just wanted the gay porn, the "YAOI" and by god if Sonadow wasn't the most popular yaoi ship in existence... It still very much is but it's toned down in it's depraved raunchiness over the years. I still remember when it used to have like 5 names because people were so into trying to categorize it in the "Seme/Uke" fashion. Shadic/Shadonic/ShaSoni for Seme!Shadow and Uke!Sonic- which was and still very much is the most popular iteration of the ship, then you had SoniSha/Sonadow for the Seme!Sonic and Uke!Shadow version. Somewhere down the line, Westerners got too lazy to categorize and decided that "Sonadow" sounded the best because it rolls off the tongue nice and has a good mouth feel so it shall be the umbrella term for every iteration of Sonic x Shadow x Sonic. Sonadow has literally withstood the test of time for a whole 20 goddamn years and counting, if ANYTHING, yall HAVE to give this ship mad props for that. Not even Sonally can compare to that and Sonamy is a close second. I say Sonamy is a close second because it was never really enjoyed as Sonic and Amy being cute together (yes, like every ship, there are people who actually genuinely enjoyed it but the climate was the complete opposite). Sonamy was "enjoyed" because it was either better than Sonally or because it wasn't "gross gay yaoi shit" like Sonadow and other upcoming ships.

NEXT IS SONKNUX. It's always been an understated ship but it definitely became a little more popular when Sonadow got big because "MORE YAOI". I remember not having very strong feelings for the ship. I didn't hate it but I didn't care for it either, it was more like "yeah ok that makes sense if you're going to make it gay". It was never "OMG SO POPULAR" but it did have a following you had to acknowledge, like even the most delusional people couldn't deny this ship lol. There was also Knuxadow but at the time it was barely even a thing, it was an obscure rarepair but not so much anymore.

Now the go to for Knuckles ships was and still definitely is Knuxouge. God I remember all of the misogynistic flavored fan art and fan fics for this pairing- like, I get it. Rouge got nice curves, big ass, and fat tiddies while Knuckles got that big dick (which I'm going to say he doesn't because there's literally nothing there... there's nothing there except for smooth red fur... nothing-) and hypermasculinity. I get it. I loved this ship tho, there was more porn of it than genuine fan art and fan fics, but I mean yall get the picture. Im pretty sure yall can grasp the climate that surrounded this ship back in the day.

Knuxpio is also a ship but it was super obscure, like only deep divers got into it. I guess that still kinda rings true today because although there are definitely more people to appreciate it, it's still not on the public stage like alot of other ships. Same goes for Knuxighty and most other Knuckles ships.

CRAILS... TAILREAM... TAILS X CREAM. I am almost positive we still don't have a definitive ship name for these two but boy do I remember when these two little demons blew up. I used to like this ship because I thought it was super super adorable- like, here you have Sonic with all of these love interests but what about Tails? Tails should have a little someone of his own. In walks Cream in all of her adorable little bunny glory..... and Charmy too- BUT EVERYTHING WENT SO BAD SO FUCKING FAST. IT WAS NO LONGER CUTE. Welcome to the big popularity boom of shotacon and lolicon outside of Japan.

* Ok so, first things first, this is a poly relationship in which Doggo and Doggeressa ‘share’ Doggamy, AKA they both are romantically involved with him and not each other.

* That being said, the two of them are actually quite close friends now!! And they all live together >:)

* In this hypothetical, I’d like to say that they decided to all settle in together once they’d moved to the surface.

* They’d been spending a lot of time together with figuring out the Royal gaurd situation, and both Doggo and Doggamy were beginning to catch feelings. Shortly there after, he was invited into their coupling.

* Doggamy seems to have a taste for strong, aggressive partners, doesn’t he?

* In being together (/as a good friend in ‘Ressa’s case), the Dogi really help to break through Doggo’s tough outer layer and allow him to be emotional and intimate with them.

* Doggamy in particular is very careful to make sure he knocks before coming into a room Doggo’s in and making alot of movement to make sure he doesn’t get startled.

* They all get a REALLY big dog bed.

* I almost named this crackship: Doggtri

* Admittedly, this was a difficult one because they live in such different areas and can’t really go to eachother’s homes too safely. That being said, I will find a fucking way.

* I’m just going to say that they meet on the surface when Grilbs lets the band do an open mic night at his bar.

* During the course of the week they play, the two of them find quite abit of comfort in their shared ability to sit in a comfortable silence against the bar atmosphere.

* Furthermore, Grilby is completely enraptured by Shyren’s voice.

* After the week is up, they end up agreeing to keep hanging out; slowly becoming friends in the process.

* Both are also shy, so there is a FUCK TON of pining before Shyren actually gets up the courage (with the intense encouragement and pep talks from Mettaton) to ask Grilby out.

* Grilby dones his finest suit (he hasn’t been on one of these in a long time) and Shy gets on her best pearls and they go out to eat.

* They. Don’t really do more than that. Just casually dating pretty much forever.

* Neither wants to move past that. They rarely even visit eachother’s houses. Just fun, casual dating :)

The Followers

* You know how in action movies when the hero and their lover grow closer because of a shared traumatic experience and being forced into trusting your peers and no one else? Yeah.

* They’ve all been out of reality for a long, long time. They’ve forgotten most else besides Gaster, eachother, and what put them here.

* It’s tough, but they love eachother and try to keep the others remembering.

* Droopy bird is seemingly the leader of this group (that is more than a group), very gentle and tender with their companions (lovers). Though this also means at times they neglect to take care of themself

* Cat guy will do anything to protect their lovers, even if there’s nothing to protect. Though, they are arrogant and forget themself easiest thanks to the thing in their hand.

* Little Man is the smartest of the group, and was once hellbent on getting the lot of them out of the in between place they’ve found themselves in. Though, this led to them being abit standoffish and cold.

*All and all, they make sure none of them forgets anything or gets lost. They look out for each other.

* If they all were to be freed of nonexistence with memories of what happened…. I honestly think they’d all develop abit of separation anxiety. Definitely be quite clingy with one another.

* I want them to be ok lMAO.

Arc V Month Day 12 - Favorite ships?

I love me some ships, and I’ve got quite a few.

But, I’m gonna talk about one of, if not my favourite ship in Arc V, that it often feels like I’m the only one who actively loves or talks about. For good reason though, seeing as it’s a rarepair through and through, so I don’t blame anyone.

Synchshipping

Maaan did this one hit me like a freaking bullet train at full speed. And the most they’ve interacted is through synched up minds only one of them was aware of, I sure picked a winner :,D But on a serious note, I find the thought of a relationship between Yuya and Yugo to be incredibly heartwarming and wholesome.

Yuya who tends to get stuck in a loop of uncertainty and worry, would get alot of good from Yugo’s forward and ‘no use worrying!’ attitude, he’d tell him not to worry so much and just do what he thinks feels right. Yugo would have no backstory on Yuya’s dad, and if he ever found out he probably wouldn’t care much, and I think Yuya would find that very relieving? He’d just be Yuya in Yugo’s eyes, with no knowledge of his hard childhood or former frail emotional state, he can just be himself and relax. Not having someone who worries so much about him and how he’s doing and believing he’d be fine, is something I think Yuya would really appreciate.

Yuya in turn would also ground Yugo, nudge him in the right direction when he loses track or messes up. Not in a nagging or stern way Rin would do sometimes, but gently, and perhaps without him even noticing Yuya was doing it. Also I kinda headcanon that Yugo isn’t that used to being treated gently or carefully, and Yuya would do def do that and it’d be new and weird but not in a bad way?

I think you can see hints of what relationship they could have when they synch up during the tournament. Plus it’s literally the only time Yuya has even a semblance of a good time when resonating with any of his counterparts. And he has such a fun time! I don’t think it’s an overexaggeration that Yuya’s happier moments in the Synchro arc are when he and Yugo resonate, he sounds like all his worries have lightened off his shoulders.

They’d be equals, do the most crazy shit on D-Wheels and their monsters, and just enjoy being together.

It’s cute and fluffy and I absolutely adore it.

bkdk - controversial ship but i like them! they have so many complicated feelings about each other in canon and theyre true rivals. they mirror + parallel each other pretty well, and grow with each other!

kirideku - theyre cute! i dont actually remember many of their interactions but i theyre both SUNSHINES who deserve the world and more!!

krbk - UGH WE LOVE CANON KINGS! hori puts so many implications about them.. im shaking. their relationship is the most amazing thing in the entire show

BAKUGOUS WORDS being what motivates kirishima, and helps him survive and win a mission? BAKUGOU REASSURING KIRI THAT HES A GOOD HERO? them fighting together in the USJ attack? just all their interactions aare so good??? the way they unconditionally and so obviously love + care about each other!

what makes me sad:

bkdk - how controversial the ship is.. i agree they make not have the healthiest relationship since they have so many complicated feelings, but their relationship is mending and maturing!

Nea Karlsson?

favorite thing about them

My favorite thing about Nea is the fact that she’s kind of a stealth-based character! I like the stealth mechanic in DbD alot, even though I know people hate when survivors do it, but honestly it’s my preferred style of playing. So I like that! I also think it’s pretty interesting how she was implied to be an arsonist with her street name “Mashtyx,” which sounds alot like matchsticks. Pair that with the fact that Crotus Penn burned down, and there’s an interesting theory there. 

least favorite thing about them

I don’t really like how sparse her backstory is, even by DbD standards. It’s a real shame, I usually love rebellious characters but for Nea, there’s a sad lack of understanding for why she behaves the way she does. The reason we do get is kinda flimsy and doesn’t make me sympathize with why she might be drawn to this destructive lifestyle. If they could update her lore and maybe explain what motivates her, I think I’d like her a lot more.

I like to think that part of the reason Nea acts out is because she’s desperate for approval. She was incredibly attached to her friends in Sweden, and after she came to America she was desperate to fit into any group to try and rebuild what she had. Her bitterness about having to leave and that desire to be part of a group is what contributed to her slide into delinquency.

Uhh I guess that I don’t like Meg/Nea. It’s pretty popular but I just don’t see their relationship panning out that way. I think it’s way more interesting for them to have a relationship that borders on antagonistic because of their personalities, it’d be a disservice just reduce it to something romantic IMO.

Do you have any rarepairs, like NPCs ships for characters that we don't see alot?

There are definitely some NPC pairs I’m interested in. I got very talked in Lyra/Tyriok by a couple of people. Just the combination of awkward nerdiness would be so cute.

I really like the idea of Kaylie/Cassandra, because I like the contrast in their dispositions and personalities. Cassandra is very reserved while Kaylie is incredibly extroverted. That also shows itself in the way they seem to deal with and respond to mental/emotional issues and trauma, which though both have (though, admittedly, Cass’s case is probably much more traumatic). We hear from Matt that Cass’s trauma really starts to show itself and manifest in troubling ways as the years go on, but as we see over the course of the campaign, she clearly pushes things down under a mask of formality. Kaylie, on the otherhand, has a history of sort of acting out, getting into fights, etc., when dealing with such issues, and while the ways she wanted to deal with Scanlan being her father wasn’t healthy, she was willing to go straight at it. That’s such a difference in personality, disposition, and behavior and I think it would lead to a really interesting dynamic.

I also kind of got talked into the idea of Kash and Gilmore, also because of the contrast in personalities and dispositions (I’m a big fan of all sorts of contrasts when it comes to ships).

There was a brief moment of time after the Thordak fight, when the eggs were revealed, that it seemed like the whole thing between Raishan and Thordak was actually a romance gone bad and basically a really overly dramatic custody fight, and I was so fascinated by that idea, the idea of disastrous romance between them.

Someone mentioned the idea of JB/Kynan, and I am super interested in it. I wish I could remember who it was because I’d love to hear their thoughts on it. So if it was you, or if you ship JB/Kynan, let me know. I want to hear all the thoughts.

As for the new campaign, Horace and Dolan are great, despite the fact that I’m still kind of having moments of not entirely trusting them. I’m super duper intrigued by Claudia and Bryce and the nature of the relationship between them.
