not to to be negative but i don’t think comedians are ever that funny. like you have to be joking (well… i guess they are) you spent months crafting this material and are now presenting it like it’s lax and chill and that u didn’t agonize over the phrasing or the punchlines. you’re lying to us all

in gang's bay shipwreck is definitely more of the like. punching bag comic relief of the cast. he's very endearingly stupid. he's kinda pathetic and wimpy despite his large build. he's always struggling or being made fun of. things are always happening to him and half the time it's his fault.
almost as an extension of this im tempted to make it so that in canon he had like a very comically bad upbringing, which would be kinda funny juxtaposed with the other characters having varyingly seriously rough childhoods/relationships with their parents that they're still negatively affected by. i dunno

The summary of my Peacemaker and Comedian thoughts are I believe paul kupperberg when he said the comedian had no influence on his reboot of Peacemaker because turning charlton Peacemaker into a piece of shit who committed war crimes in Veitnam is a very obvious route that makes sense.
Also you can tell Kupperberg was a liberal and Moore was a anarchist because Peacemakers actions are explained like 50% by his personal trauma and mental state and THEN 50% by like Being A US Soldier while the Comedian does not have the "literally mentally ill" explanation and is like that almost entirely because he's a US soldier. Like Comedian is having a evil but "reasonable" (as in: acting like this for his own personal gain, not because he experiences delusions) reaction to his circumstances while Peacemaker is portrayed as like "he's a bad guy but alot of his actions are because he's 'insane'".
Like I know the intent is to make him more tragic but it is that very liberal like "well its not the systems fault ENTIRELY its also because of Peacemakers intrisnically broken brain !!!" and I think that difference between them is really interesting honestly
#I love melodrama so I love Peacemaker but you know. Im always talking about how his 80s backstory was rough.#Like I will always say it IS a thing that hes like that as a condemnation of us nationalism too theres a really clear comparison being made#to like the nazis and the US Peacemakers actions in vietnam are constantly referred to as him basically becoming his father#But yeah the fucking 'his nazi dad hallucination made him do it!' thing hangs over him.#Anyway. I think the comedians a good character but obviously i hate him and#cant stand him. Peacemaker is a different kind of character because#The Comedian exists to be a monster and to be dead and#Peacemaker had to be able to like exist in comics.#ALSO Peacemaker is like the polar opposite of the Comedian because his thing is he genuinely#believes hes doing the right thing or at least he WANTS to believe he is and the Comedians whole thing is#he knows hes evil and in the wrong but he benefits from it so he does it all anyway#Peacemaker is taking this dead seriously the comedian is the comedian but in the end theyre both tools that kill people for the government

Now I can say that the first time I ever went to a stand up comedy I was dressed up as the sexyman of Tumblr Cecil Palmer

#don’t worry guys no one can find me in the tags. if this truly does mean that the album cycle is gonna start in late january and go until#may before dropping. i’m gonna be in agony aldjaksjkf like what do you mean a full year of teasing. that’s a little bit silly. like i don’t#know at this point what i want or what would make me insane . actually i do i think it would be sick if we got a single this month#and then one in january/february/march before the album in april. because at this point im okay not getting the whole album at#once unexpectedly. like we’ve simultaneously had too much and too little teasing. so i’m good with a few months of singles! but if we’re#still 6 months away from this album i might have to drive off a bridge#i might make this unrebloggable i don’t want to drag down anyone who’s still super excited im just a little tired#excited! but tired.#like if this had started in 2023 after they played the comedian then it would’ve been insane bc it would’ve been so unexpected. but they se#this precedent of new albums every 3 years (which to be fair is our fault for just assuming) and then that timeline comes and goes. and the#the teasers start but they’re inconsistent in length and time etc and there’s no other news for 6+ months… it gets tiring. and only NOW is#there confirmation that they’re filming a music video (which indicates a single)??? and i know i know they could’ve filmed other things#without us knowing and they could drop news of a single tomorrow for all we know and we should be grateful for any new music but i’m just!!#getting!!!! impatient :( okay back to grocery planning bye everyone
