every time i see a post that is like "ughh why cant we have aspec characters who aren't aroace for once" I have to do a double take like "is the aroace rep in the room with us right now?" because genuinely....where is all this aroace rep y'all are complaining about? Why cant i find it yet it's apparently the only aspec rep we get?? You admit that TV never says the word aromantic so where is the aroace rep. So far I've pretty much only seen canonically asexual characters and not much else buddy.
#text#half the time i think these ppl see other aspec ppl saying that x character feels aroace and then they take it as canon rep#instead of an interpretation of the character which likely was never meant to be written as aspec at all#because majority of people don't even know what that is#this isn't me saying that we shouldn't have aroallo or alloace rep btw#this is me complaining about people throwing aroace ppl under the bus because apparently we are 'hogging' all the representation in media#and it just reads as people being aphobic towards aroace people specifically and it drives me insane#you can ask for more aroallo and alloace characters without complaining and shitting on aroace characters????#like bro we are all on the same fucking team. we are all trying to get seen and understood. we all want to see ourselves in media#stop fighting like one of us is somehow way more privileged than the other because 'you have x rep'#we all have crumbs my guy. just because someone else is getting crumbs doesn't mean that its your crumbs being taken.#idk i see so many posts like this and it makes me feel so unwelcome in the aro and ace communities#im tired of aroace people being used as a scapegoat that you can target to pretend like you're punching up#when in reality you're just committing friendly fire against people who are on your team#i miss when the aro and ace communities used to like... work together as a big aspec community#now ppl r way too focused on separating them and acting like they have nothing in common and don't have the same goals#and both communities now tend to put a lot of blame onto aroace people because of stereotypes we never had control over in the first place#it's exhausting#like the aphobia is coming from inside the house#i didn't go through the ace discourse on tumblr to deal with this shit.

The Khans - My Introspective
I don't like the Military and I don't support a lot of the actions the NCR does to the Mojave in New Vegas but in terms of the Khans I feel like the fandom infantilizes or diminishes the fact that they are or at least one of the most violent raider groups in the Mojave.
What happened at Bitter Springs was a tragedy, innocent lives were lost and the fact that the NCR swept it under the rug and continued to hunt down Khans that are truly trying to back down and resettle is horrendous, but there is a history to the NCR's aggression towards them.
The Khans first appear in Fallout 1, the main faction of raiders in the game besides the mentioned Vipers (who don't actually appear if I remember correctly). They came from Vault 15 along with the members that would form rival groups; The Vipers, The Jackals, and Shady Sands. They are a very large and foreboding raiding party, known for burning towns and encampments they attack and taking survivors as their slaves or slaves to sell. They are a big reason why the Jackals and Vipers are actually so small in New Vegas, they wiped them out.
Their main targets where Shady Sands and Junker town, the former of the two would be what became The New California Republic. This explains a big part of their animosity towards the Khans, only furthered by the fact the Khans kidnapped Tandi as a young girl, the girl that would go to offically found the NCR out of Shady Sands. When the dweller saved her and killed much of the Khans, this allowed the NCR to develop into what it currently is as they no longer needed to focus on fighting off constant raids.
When the Khans became the New Khans in Fallout 2, they barely resembled the Khans as they were led by Darion, Garl Death-Hand's son (former leader of the Khans). They were smaller and refortified vault 15, still planning to take down the NCR (at this time nowhere near as imperialist as they are in FNV) as mostly a revenge/power ploy. They manipulate The Squat, a group of y'know squatters, that lived in the upper levels, promising and lying about repairing the vault and offering them ransacked caravan resources if they kept the NCR away. Being their only life line The Squat had no choice. Still the chosen one got rid of them and they left New California for the untapped Mojave.
The Great Khans, the most current iteration, continued in the path as the original Khans, regrouping and gaining information from the Followers who hoped they'd use their new medical knowledge to heal themselves. They gained more members and a substantial part of Vegas territory before they were run out by the three families. They were pushed to Bitter Springs where they first and foremost continued to pick off and attack NCR settlements, most of which consisted of caravans, towns, and camps as they saw them as easy like in their old days. It was the killing of four influential Republic members (non-military) that brought on Bitter Springs.
Bitter Springs was the result of years of hatred and animosity and likely the goal to send a final message to the Khans. It does not excuse the fact that innocent men, women, and children were slaughtered with few survivors. It does not excuse the fact that the NCR has yet to make amends for this and continues to try and persecute the Khans even in moments of surrender.
This post is not to defend what happened but to give a quick rundown of the Khan's history and their history with the NCR. It's to remind people that the NCR is not just their military power but an actual group/settlement of people that were also attacked indiscriminately by the Khans. It's to point out that the Khans were not a band of indigenous people (no matter the comparisons) driven from their homes but raiders who fed into the brutal cultures of the west coast wasteland and were in turn treated to the same things.
My frustration comes from the fact that FNV has so many comparisons to indigenous struggles but the groups it chooses are not comparable at all. Their oppression hinges on not being familiar with their past, which explains why they have the reputation they do in canon. The "tribes" are often not even groups of minorities or have goals/desires out of acquisitions of power and I feel like it is important to both acknowledge that this is bad indigenous rep because it is not supposed to be. It is supposed to be a comparison of the in-game groups and how they all do the same things and justify it in their own fucked up ways, some better at it than others.
FNV of all the Fallout games (in light of it being heavily Western based) distastefully uses indigenous imagery and theming for groups that are sad mimicries of American indigenous cultures at best and outright offensive at worst.
#this is also to say the NCR is barely different but they imply New California is a city and safe and that once the NCR military leaves#they will properly try to settle and revitalize the area unlike the goals of almost every other group#the issues arise from the tensions of the hoover dam battles the legion and the corrupt leaders chosen in what is a terse time#but the khans are interesting to me and I like the named khans we have in FNV but they are treated to be almost innocent at points due to#all the Ls they keep taking despite admitting to their raider roots and being PROUD#they partnered with the Legion and before i hear they didnt know they were slavers at a point too and likely didnt care if they believed it#would not affec their own. the Mojave is an unforgivnig place and sometimes you make unforgivable alliances since they alienated all their#other options through their continued and consistent behaviors#like i could go on how bad the native rep is but I would not use any of the tribes cause they barely count the only difference from the NCR#is they organize themself differtently like id use the tribes in Honest Hearts cause holy shit is it bad and racist like at least the Mojav#tribes are just white dickheads brutalizing each other and not the characatures of native people the Sorrows Dead Horse and White legs are#like yikes I hated playing white savior the dlc#this is also semi personal because i dont see a lot of POC people in the fandom talking about the Khans and so I dont know if the proper#perspectives can be added because just because something can represent a culture or group doesn't mean it does or that it was the primary#thing they were trying to get across#like feel free to ask and talk to me more about it cause grrr#fallout#fallout new vegas#the great khans#the khans#new california republic#the ncr#fallout 1#fallout 2#papa khan

I love the crocodad theory a lot but I fear that the fandom will start misgendering him or respect the character less because of transphobia.
Oda have written queer characters before who are respected by the fandom such as Bonclay but for Crocodile its another story. He is their alpha male badass character and adding queerness to his character might make them mad. Not that I care about those bigots feelings but its already not easy to navigate this fandom without queerphobia being thrown in your face.
Ppl can digest a queer character who fit in the stereotypes but once they dont, its another story.
Same, people are weird as fucking hell and gross about Crocodile maybe being trans already, we can be sure it would get worse if him being trans was confirmed in the story, there would be absolutely no avoiding it
But at the same time...
Transphobes are gonna be transphobes regardless, and I don't want that to become a reason for any storyteller to not create trans characters. I don't want Oda to bend over backwards to please the transphobes when they're the ones in the wrong. If anything, I want Oda to just go all the way with the message of queer liberation and freedom in One Piece. Like it's not perfect, but it's already there, but it's so subtle many queerphobes have been able to ignore it this whole time and I don't want Oda to let them ignore it anymore. I want him to rub it into their faces so hard they'll start complaining about "Oda going woke"
And like, let's be real. If Crocodile was trans and Oda pulled it off just right (without falling into certain pitfalls that he's be stumbling with this whole time with queer rep), that could unironically be like. Great not just trans rep but trans masc rep in particular
Like maybe it's just the media I've consumed but trans masc rep is typically very non-existant and/or very much like Yamato, who, while valid as hell, might not be how many trans masc people want to be seen as by others (as in, "confused girls")
We've known Crocodile as a character for 23 years at this point, and for the first 8-9 years of that he was very much seen as A Manly Cis Man (like you said) without a hint of a doubt (until Impel Down). If it turned out he had been trans this whole time, that would force people to rethink how they view trans people.
As just regular fucking people
That person you knew for years turned out to be trans? So what? What does that actually change about them? It's still the same person deep down. Those are the things Oda could force people to think about.
And honestly? If that helped convert even just a single transphobe, or educate someone without an opinion on trans people, to just letting trans people live their lives in peace, I think it'd be worth it
But like, yeah. The transphobes are gonna be loud regardless. It fucking sucks, and I hate the fandom for it. But, damned if you do, damned if you don't, there's no avoiding it. And I think the potential positive impact would outweight the already festering negativity.
#Moon posting#Sir Crocodile#CW Discussion of transphobia#Mind you this is assuming Oda pulled it off right#By which I mean he doesn't give Crocodile some stupid fucking excuse to why he transitioned#Like ''wanted to escape being a woman'' or ''because being a woman was weak'' or something fucking stupid#I don't think Oda knows what gender dysphoria even is so the idea of Crocodile transitioning to deal with that feels like a bloody pipedrea#But literally even just ''preferred being a man'' would be fine#The bar. Is so fucking low#My other thing is that I absolutely do not want to see him get detransitioned. At all.#Like a lot of people have been speculating that the reason we never see Crocodile use Haki might be because it could detrans him#And regardless of if that's canon or not-- I do not want to see him detransition. At all.#If we see him pre-t in a flashback that's fine#I just don't want to see him have to sacrifice his comfort for a dramatic scene where he has to ''go all out'' or something#(Especially because knowing Oda there is no way he would do that without sexualizing him for no good reason)#Honestly I am more concerned about Oda fucking it up than the fandom being gross#My bar is so fucking low and yet so impossibly high for Oda#Also what gets me about Crocodile is that usually the queer characters are young and/or amab#And this is true for literally all of the other queer rep in OP rn#Crocodile is almost a middle aged trans man and honestly would that not be like a breath of fresh fucking air#OP Meta

I was watching this Chinese variety show just to see Ricky and Zhang Hao but then I saw one of the hosts was Zhang Zhenyuan and now I want to cry… 😭💔
#He... Teens In Times deserve better you know?#I keep trying to accept that this is how China is and C-Pop doesn't need to do anything that K-Pop and J-Pop do but#The more I think about it the more unfair it seems... 😢#These Chinese idols train so much and when they debut they just don't get promoted#They don't releaze anything on YT and they just go to variety shows alone and this is it?#That's unfair! This is not why they trained for!#No wonder there are so many Chinese idols in K-Pop it's like “if you want to debut you have to learn Korean and live in SK”#Which is fine if they like SK but what if they don't want to leave China/Taiwan/Hong Kong?? 😭#Guys there's Chinese idols even in J-Pop nowadays!! They really said “I'd rather debut anywhere but China”!!#Again... not saying these idols don't like Japan. Just that they CAN'T CHOOSE whether they want to debut abroad or in their own country!#Even if C-Pop tries to do a little bit like K or J-Pop (ex.: BOY STORY BOYHOOD WayV and the now dead EXO-M)#Their companies DON'T PROMOTE THEM!!! They literally don't invest any money to promote their groups!!!#I'm still not over Asia Super Young and Loong9 in case you didn't notice... 🥺#But... Yeah... I just wish Teens In Times got more rep and that I could just turn my TV on and watch them TOGETHER#And that they had MVs and on YT and etc. (Basically everything I've seen J/K-Pop idols do)#But maybe that's just the K/J-Popper in me and I have to accept that China is China and they owe us nothing#Just because we're interested in East Asian culture doesn't mean they have to all do one thing like the others just to please us!#I will still (try to) stan TNT as much as I can (and as much as they allow me since I speak no Chinese)#Specially ChengXin 🥺 my darling#not kpop or jpop

why didn't peridot stay disabled… it would've added to their whole message of being different being okay and diversity and…. sigh….
#she didn't have magic in a magic-oriented society and used limb enhancers as a disability aid…#but they immediately threw out her limb enhancers because they posed a threat to them I guess#and then they gave peridot metal powers anyway#sorry I'm thinking thoughts.#su does a lot of things really well I very much admire it's queer rep and interesting storyline and mental health commentary etc#but the thing it does quite poorly imo is disability rep. at least when it comes to physical disabilities#and this is also a problem with steven's healing powers#while I understand he has diamond powers which means he's going to have quite strong abilities#I think healing powers have to have some limitations or else you're implying that disabilities can be cured#which is a very uncomfortable concept#steven cures connie’s eyesight without knowing he even can (and without her permission ofc)#which I feel at least implies he can cure blindness#and he cures literal death so I don't think there are Any limitations?#which is frustrating#sigh…#don't get me wrong I love this show#I just. I want disability rep I don't see enough good disability rep#I love toh forever for giving me the clawthornes because hello chronically ill characters I love seeing myself in you 🥹#anyway if I ever make art of peridot someday I'm gonna try to remember she deserves new limb enhancers or something.#or if I make a human peridot I'll give her prosthetics or some kind of mobility aid because! she deserves it I love her#you know what I'm thinking of kid cosmic too why doesn't chuck get a new translator or a wheelchair#bro said it hurts to speak english and he literally does not have legs get this man some disability aids PLEASE

Need a windrunner who's scared of heights and is bitter that on this planet a drive to protect is apparently magically linked to flying instead of like, getting to summon shields or blast lightning because yeah they'll keep their oaths! but can they just do that from the ground, thanks, please?
#i mean i think they'd come up with some new creative uses of gravitation that keeps their feet on the ground#and probably master adhesion faster#but mostly i want rep for me: someone who knows she won't die ziplining and may even enjoy it#but is frozen in fear for a good twenty minutes before letting anyone convince her to step a little closer to the edge of the platform#Windrunner: my oaths to protect should give me the power to teleport others to safety. why does it just make me fall upwards instead.#what's protective about that??#Spren: you know i think you need to trust me and our bond to protect you from getting hurt while practicing this surge.#Windrunner: >:( ok but I'm going to do it scared.#actually hold on i know i said 'summon shield' in the post and well actually. Kaladin kinda does do that with [YOU KNOW WHAT] but like#that was a separate thing. arguably any order might have managed it#I'm talking like. a big red energy shield or whatever#doesn't matter!#point is!#there probably is actually already a windrunner who's scared of heights#but i don't remember them#just my darling beloved Sigzil and wanting to be the first in the sky

The point (or one of the points) of representation is to normalise these things.
I'm so fucking tired of purity culture when it comes to this stuff. Flawed representation is so much better than no representation at all.
And I will die on this hill. We cannot demand perfection.
Hell, I am a non-binary trans woman, I'm literally one of the queerest people I know, and I also know if I were to write a story about MY OWN FUCKING LIFE there would be things that don't align with all the theory and the expectations.
And you know what else? Maybe that's good. Maybe we need more imperfect stories. Especially when the alternative is no story at all.
I need to say something and I need y'all to be calm
if it isn't actively bad or harmful, no representation should be called "too simple" or "too surface level"
I have a whole argument for this about the barbie movie but today I wanna talk about a show called "the babysitters club" on Netflix
(obligatory disclaimer that I watched only two episodes of this show so if it's super problematic I'm sorry) (yes. I know it's based on a book, this is about the show)
this is a silly 8+ show that my 9 year old sister is watching and it manages to tackle so many complex topics in such an easy way. basic premise is these 13 year old girls have a babysitting agency.
in one episode, a girl babysits this transfem kid. the approach is super simple, with the kid saying stuff like "oh no, those are my old boy clothes, these are my girl clothes". they have to go to the doctor and everyone is calling the kid by her dead name and using he/him and this 13 year old snaps at like a group of doctors and they all listen to her. it's pure fantasy and any person versed in trans theory would point out a bunch of mistakes.
but after watching this episode, my little sister started switching to my name instead of my dead name and intercalating he/him pronouns when talking about me.
one of the 13 years old is a diabetic and sometimes her whole personality is taken over by that. but she has this episode where she pushes herself to her limit and passes out and talks about being in a coma for a while because of not recognizing the limits of her disability.
and this allowed my 9 year old sister to understand me better when I say "I really want to play with you but right now my body physically can't do that" (I'm disabled). she has even asked me why I'm pushing myself, why I'm not using my crutches when I complain about pain.
my mom is 50 years old and watching this show with my sister. she said the episode about the diabetic girl helped her understand me and my disability better. she grew up disabled as well, but she was taught to shut up and power through.
yes, silly simple representation can annoy you if you've read thousands of pages about queer liberation or disability radical thought, but sometimes things are not for you.
#Also re: the imperfections#I remember a few years ago (before the huge terf wave this decade)#rolling my eyes at the stereotypical 'I tried my mums shoe on when I was 3 and I always knew#(even tho that is totally what happened for some ppl)#just because it's a bit of a cheesy cliché that really doesn't apply to me#But would I have rathered that over literally nobody knowing what 'trans' even means??#Of course not#And it's definitely better than the most common narratives nowadays#Anyway#Any good faith representation is better than no representation at all imo#Lgbt#Trans#Transgender#Lgbt rights#Lgbt representation#Trans representation#Disability#Disability rep#Disability representation#Lgbt rep#Trans rep#Media#Media representation#Media rep#Lgbt+#lgbtqia+#Lgbtq+#lgbtq community#media#children's media

hey i have a fucking bone to pick with sapphic fandoms
like, i get it okay. i've been on tumblr since 2011, i was in the trenches during the bury your gays nightmare, i grew up on buffy, i watched the 100, i've been through the furious and devastating queerbaits, and i've watched helplessly as the boom of proper progress with sapphic rep has burned and disappeared with the faults of the industry as it is rn and the resurgence of bury your gays in the form of tv cancellations
i even did a fucking guest lecture for a film & tv university course a couple years ago on all of this
we joke about the fact that queer (specifically sapphic) fans flock to any show with the barest hint of rep in it because we're so starved for it, and we talk about the fact that if nothing else, that proves that there's a market and an audience and it usually creates a huge wave of viewership and attention for the show
but i need to fucking point out: acting as though a show exists for the sole purpose of the sapphic relationship you've started watching it for is fucking detrimental to how you'll perceive the show, how it'll get talked about in fandom spaces and then beyond that (bc the line between fandom spaces and wider online discussion of media is a lot thinner than it was ten years ago) and isn't actually going to do any good for sapphic rep! like, at all! because guess what! unless you're watching a show where the entire storyline revolves around romance, this couple you're watching for ISN'T going to be the centre of the story! it's a part of it! and there's such a weird fucking entitled toxicity to how fans act around brilliant storytelling and worldbuilding and writing and characters throwing tantrums about not getting more screentime for the relationship they like because they don't actually care about any other part of the story. and the thing about people who watch something solely for a ship rather than the wider story it exists in, is that a lot of the time, you'll fundamentally misinterpret the characters and their dynamic because you're not taking any of the wider context of the world and story into account at all.
and yes, of course i'm talking about agatha all along in the immediacy. because we knew a long, long time ago that billy maximoff was gonna be an integral part of this story, long before we knew anything about what the vibe of this show was gonna be, long before anyone even had the tiniest whisper of rio's existence. the same way wandavision was monica rambeau's origin story even though the show was wanda's, we suspected that agatha all along would be billy's/wiccan's origin story even if the show focused on agatha. and you know fucking what. that's good fucking storytelling. this show is smart, it's funny, it's curious, it's campy, it's queer, and it's ensemble. that's always been the point. agatha and rio were a delightfully unexpected part of it that added such delicious tension and phenomenal sapphic rep, but you know what else! the point of that dynamic is to flesh out agatha's character! this show isn't about agatha and rio! it's about agatha and billy, who they are, how their pasts and their magic are connected, their traumas and their power and how the road shapes their futures! rio is a part of exploring agatha's past, and it's phenomenal, but i am so fucking bewildered by the ridiculousness of people's reactions to billy now having a bigger part in the story and there being less focus on agatha and rio. you do know that you write scenes and characters and stories in a way that makes sense right? that because of the nature of this show, even if we don't get more than a handful agatha and rio scenes for the rest of the episodes, they're both still sapphic characters, this is still wonderful sapphic rep, and this show is still very, very queer?
like, it's obviously not fair that we have to beg for scraps to have queer shows to watch. but that doesn't mean that any of us get to do such a fucking disservice to the people who make amazing shows and fight to put sapphic rep in them within the contexts of the stories they're telling by whining that it's not enough. what we're getting with agatha all along, what kathryn han and aubrey plaza and jac schaeffer have said with such grace and nuance and intrigue and depth about agatha and rio's relationship, is so fucking rare! and it's nestled within a story that's got so much other intricate storytelling that makes agatha and rio richer characters when you actually pay some fucking attention and care about who they are outside of their sexual tension!
and i'm saying this because this is an issue i see with So many other shows, where the worth of a show gets boiled down to fandoms wanting content of their ship and nothing else and then poisoning the conversation and reception around what else it is that show is doing with its story. idk get some fucking media literacy, grow up and respect artists and creatives.
#anyway#haven't had a rant on tumblr in a hot minute#agatha all along#agathario#billy maximoff#agatha harkness#rio vidal#queer tv

been rewatching rtte
toothless is called T multiple times, but the letter T doesn't exist in the alphabet of this world
i think hiccup was also called H???
hiccup went to the wedding of the man who tried to kill him and his family multiple times. no wonder he thought he could change drago's mind
snotlout is canonically a theater kid
"you're so small and cuddly" "please never say that again"
the twins are really smart, but they're also just stupid
hiccup straight up disappears when he's working on something
heather had a super noticeable crush on astrid
fishlegs got a love interest!! a plus size main character actually has a cool, badass love interest!
it was super hetnormative but it was cute
there was an island full of flying women who were implied to regularly commit cannibalism
hiccup taught all the riders how to fly with toothless, that's so sweet
everyone is a flat earther except for the twins
hiccup almost directly killed a lot of people
and killed a LOT more when destroying their ships
“scalding– cal..ding--" "toothle, plama bla!" was pretty much the funniest part of the entire series
dagur was bullied as a kid by a guy 8 years older than him who literally tattooed an imagine of him beating up little dagur in his arm??? What was that all about
actually we need to talk about how messed up everything about dagur is and about how the things that could've/did happen(ed) to him may be the reasons why he's Like That
just why was he imprisoned by the outcasts??? he didn't do anything to them directly
oof my brain is spiraling. "he loved you" "ig now we'll never know" what do you mean he didn't know if his dad loved him
there's a technically musical episode
tuffnut became hiccup's defense attorney and immediately got him the death sentence
hiccup regularly jumps off cliffs
he also jumped off a boat, with his arms tied and without toothless. just where did he think he was going
snotlout's annoying attitude is actually because spitelout pressures him too much and he feels like he has to be perfect for his dad :((
THE 'HICCUP'S EVIL MIRROR' VILLAIN THEME DONE RIGHT YESS!!!
viggo is the best httyd villain change my mind (you can't, swords at sundown, you may bring backup but i will win on my own)
skrill comeback skrill comeback SKRILL COMEBACK!!!!
"COMEEE TO DADDY"
what is a boar pit???
oh my god i had missed this series so much. it has no right to be this funny
this was my childhood. it has forever shaped the way i am
berserker heather the unhinged >>>
actually good disability rep! yay
hiccup complains about his peg leg pinching him
he straight up cannot walk without it and it is shown many times
"well, there are the benefits of a metal leg" after it got caught in a bear trap
funny moments, like snotlout trying to steal it to use it as a weapon
the jokes!! toothless laughing at the jokes!!! hiccup being so fucking done with the twins, who are always making the jokes!
there's an episode where everyone is so sleep deprived they actually start spiraling
astrid becomes a happy go lucky girl, hugs snotlout and tells him he's handsome
the fucking mood swings snotlout got were insane
the twins were straight up just hallucinating
"i sent them to wash their dragons, how could they mess that up?" cut to heather falling on her face with a bucket full of water in her hands
fishlegs becomes so paranoid, he's yelling at everyone all the time
"don't you know the trapper's trap can trap the trapper?? ...oh gods, i must be losing it, i'm quoting dagur"
YOOOO VALKA!!!! it's so nice to see her
hiccup tried to murder dagur to stop him from getting to toothless, which is scary bc it shows just how far he's willing to go for his bff, but also funny because hiccup. that was not going to work
oh the hiccstrid slowburn, how i have missed you
the twins's made up language
there was a beach episode turned murder mystery and a musical episode held at gun point
hiccup has a whole little speech that he periodically gives astrid to remind her that the twins serve a purpose
#i'll make more of these later#i'm just very bored and i love rtte#race to the edge#rtte#how to train your dragon#httyd#httyd rtte#toothless#hiccup horrendous haddock iii#astrid hofferson#snotlout jorgenson#fishlegs ingerman#dagur the deranged#tuffnut thorston#ruffnut thorston#heather the unhinged#avis' post

WAIT I LOVE THAT PUSHUP FIC. can you do one with Gaz and the reader daring him to say their name in between push-ups, and Gaz catches on, but does it anyways.
10 / 1,186 words / takes place immediately after doing push-ups with Gaz
...
You watch Gaz from the corner of your eye, listening to him say your name in that low voice with each rep, grunting with concentration. Music to your ears.
His toned arms are tense with each push-up he executes. Gaz doesn’t work out to be buff or get attention. It’s all about function and utility on the battlefield for him, which means he’s not one for showing off. But you appreciate it, and you can tell he notices it by the smirk curving his lips.
He knows what you're doing. He knows exactly why you made that little request of him.
"You want me to keep going?" he asks.
"I have no problem with that.”
"Can't imagine you would."
"Hey. Less talking; more counting reps."
"Did I say I was in the market for a personal trainer?"
"I think you did, in fact," you tell him facetiously. You're still sprawled over his back, admiring how your weight barely seems to affect him each time he lowers and then pushes himself back up. "Lucky you have me here to keep you on track."
"Yeah, lucky me." He grunts a laugh and does another pushup. "Because that's my problem. Staying on track."
"I hear a lot of chatter and not enough saying my name between reps, mm?"
"Think I'd better stop doing that. You like it too much."
"And you said you wanted a challenge. Do you cut corners in the field, too? Does Captain Price know?"
He lowers himself again and holds at the bottom for a moment to increase the tension and stress on his muscles. "You're asking for it, you know that?"
You smirk, shifting yourself a little to fit more snugly against the curve of his back. "Are you threatening me, Gaz?"
"You wish." He chuckles, hardly sounding as winded as he should. "You'd be lucky for me to pay you that much attention."
He's not wrong. But still, the nerve.
Luckily, you notice you haven't heard him counting aloud, either. "What rep are you on now?"
He pauses at the bottom of his rep, then lifts up again, not quite as fast as before. "Sixty-three."
"Liar. You lost count, didn't you?"
"Of course not. You think you're really that distracting?"
You grin. "You said it, not me."
He pauses his rep at its apex this time. You glance at him, sensing the gears turning in his head. For a second, you wonder if you should be proud of yourself--if you've struck him speechless with your blistering wit.
Then he bends his elbow and drops one shoulder almost to the floor, dumping you unceremoniously off his back. You land ungracefully on your stomach with a gasp.
There's a strange look in his eye. Thirst for vengeance. You scramble to right yourself, but it's too late. Gaz drags you off the ground like it's nothing and pulls your back to his chest. He wraps his much thicker arm around your bicep and leans back, forcing your arm over your head in what you vaguely recognize as a submission hold.
You huff, trying to squirm free. His other arm comes around across your midsection to keep you in place. The fact that you're pinned in his lap doesn't escape you.
"Now who’s the distracted one?" His voice is right at your ear. "You want to tell me again how many reps I did?"
"Fifty-five. I counted."
His grip tightens. He leans back just a little more, causing your back to arch. "Try again."
You grab his arm with your free hand and try to dislodge it. Its no good. His arms are like steel. He doesn't budge an inch.
"Told you you were asking for it." His breath is warm on the shell of your ear. "Count again. Or I'll turn this half nelson into a full nelson."
Your cheeks warm. "Perv."
"You started it. Or don't you want me to say your name again?"
"I have a perfectly innocent explanation for that."
"Let's hear it, then. Go on."
"Um." You squirm a little more in his hold. His breath in your ear is making you feel crazy. "It's actually... because..."
"Because?" He's smiling now, his arm tightening against your skin. You can feel every thick muscle in his biceps and forearms. "Because what?"
You struggle to keep some kind of half-baked explanation centered in your mind. Fuck, fuck, fuck, you can't think about his chest pressing flush to your back. Or his thighs squishing your ass. Or his arm around your midsection, so close to your breasts you swear he'd brush the underside if he so much as flexed.
"Because what?" He asks again, and his voice is so husky it makes you forget all your rational thoughts. "Tell me."
"... Sixty-three," you mutter.
He laughs, the rumble of it shaking his chest against your back. "So which one of us lost count, boss?"
"I did."
"Yeah, you did." He shifts, easing the pressure on your arm. He doesn't release it completely, though. "If you wanted to hear my voice so bad, there are better ways to ask, yeah?" His other hand begins to wander down your side. Your skin burns under your workout tank. "But if you want to be a cheeky little brat about it..."
Before you can react, he bites down on your ear. Not cute and flirty, but hard enough that it hurts. Especially when you squawk and try to pull away.
"Ow!" You shove your elbow into his solar plexus.
He lets go of your arm, gasping and wheezing with laughter as he leans back. You're both surprised at how much force you packed into that elbow jab.
He smiles, though. His heart is racing from adrenaline, and when he looks at you, all pouty and out of breath, he realizes it's a good thing he's not still holding you or he might really do something stupid. He likes how quick you are, how feisty.
"That's mean," you snap.
"And calling me a pervert wasn't?"
"No! And even if it was, your thing was worse."
"Oh, yeah?" His usual soft grin turns roguish. "You wanna get even? Bite me back?"
"Gaz!"
"Then you still owe me." He stands up, stretching until his tired arm muscles pop. "So I'd better see you here tomorrow, same time. What do you say?"
You stand slowly, watching him grab his gym bag. "What if I say no?"
"I'd say you're shirking your duties as my trainer. And my counterweight. Besides, you wouldn't skip a chance to have me say your name again." He pulls the straps up over his shoulders and winks at you. "Right, boss?"
You open your mouth and close it right back up again.
Gaz has just enough self-control not to bite his lip at that rather cute expression. "Good."
He walks away, leaving you red-faced and speechless behind him.
He's right. You'll definitely be back tomorrow.

It's because the word "landmark" is being used in place of the correct (series of) word(s), which is "palatable for the broadest audience possible".
Not only is new queer fiction and art coming out all the time, it always has been. You just have to be willing to watch a movie (to pick a form of storytelling in particular) that's older than you.
Like, did you watch "Paris Is Burning" or do you just nod wisely when it's brought up? Did you know that it's part of an entire damn movement of filmmaking from the '90s called new queer cinema? Have you ever heard of Gregg Araki? Did you vote "never heard of him" on that Tumblr poll where the vast majority of folks on The Gay Website did not know who John Waters was?
Are you only watching stuff that's produced in your own language? Are you aware that most non-English language parts of the world are and have been producing queer cinema for decades and that those films aren't hard to get? Do you know what New Maricón Cinema is? Are you aware that the most highly decorated Spanish director is an out gay man who's produced films about trans women and queerness since the 1980s?
A fuckton of queer cinema also depicts heavy, bleak, and triggering subject matter; are you mentally prepared for facing that when you engage with art? Are you mostly/only watching children's media because you, personally, are not in a place to deal with heavy subject matter--and therefore you don't actually know what's out there and can't judge? Or are you only watching children's movies because you're afraid of being challenged?
Are you going outside of your comfort zone? Are you taking a risk? Do you not have time to waste on major IPs because you're too busy in the back alleys of fiction and cinema, exploring for something exciting and new?
Are you, you know, being queer?
ngl i keep seeing new iterations of "all landmark queer media is children's media! i want queer media for adults!" and i guess i kind of get where it comes from but i have never really experienced this issue
new adult queer cinema is coming out all the time, a lot of it very good and a lot of it not, new adult queer fiction is coming out all the time, a lot of it very good and a lot of it not, and i totally get it when you say queer kids' stuff isn't enough for a queer art-loving adult to subsist on (you're right, it's not enough for me either!)
but like, are you actually checking out new and exciting queer stories that appeal to your sensibilities? or are you spending your time in insular fandom spaces instead of going out and looking for art that speaks to you?
listen to new albums, click through galleries, find art made by people who might not be where you're from or share every life experience with you, and talk to folks about that stuff and you'll make lots of friends.
#queer media#always has been#fandom meta#i'm being a little mean here and i feel kind of bad about that#at the same time#i don't know how to make y'all understand that not everything queer can or should be handed to you#sometimes you've got to like put in work in order to get what you want#and that includes finding media you relate to#this one time i rented a crappy-looking movie called mulberry street because it was about wererats#and it turned out to be this messy but brilliant breakdown of capitalism and how we treat the poor#and there was a trans Black woman who's just... there. as one of the main characters#she's in a relationship with one of the other main characters. he is a boxer#and it's just presented matter-of-factly. because of course a Black trans woman would live in a tenement house#she lives near war veterans and her boyfriend has a tbi and there are immigrants because that's representative of the experience of poverty#in a movie about wererats#this was welcome and honestly desperately needed by me#and i would not have found this movie if i sat and whined about how come disney doesn't put gay rep in the 1132443th star wars show#mulberry street

ASTROLOGY FUCKING NOTES
WHY do people say that if someone's planets falls into your 7th house, then YOU'RE THEIR IDEAL LOVER??? Bitch bye. If someone's planets falls into YOUR 7th house, then U DIG THEM OR HATE EM, AS IT'S YOUR 7TH HOUSE! Let's say that your crush planets falls into your 1st and 7th house, then obviously u like their looks (1st house) and the way they show themselves off 2 other people, (how they treat other people/people u know (7th house! Don't project.
Pluto conjunct Ascendant in synastry, is a stalker aspect🤷♀️🤷♀️. It kinda reminds me of Hailey running around after Justin at his interviews, when they were young and he had no idea🤨🫣😭🤣 . SO FUCKING CREEPY. Pluto is obsessed, and way 2 "fixated" on the asc person. It can get dangerous, cuz ASC person has no idea about how deeply the obsession runs with Pluto, fr💀. The worst part is that they usually know that the Pluto person can be kinda "creepy", but not about how deep it actually runs. U won't ever really know with Pluto, cuz they won't even give out 20% of their secrets - they can't help it. Unless they literally have no aspects from Pluto 2inner planets in their own natal chart.
Your Bella asteroid - 695 conjunct/trine/quintile someone’s ASC means that the ASC person finds u really beautiful, (physical attraction) 🍒🫦. With the opposition it's on & off, like sometimes yeah and other times no - It switches. With the square/quincunx - takes time, but grows into a really strong attraction, the longer you're 2gether/know each other.
Why the fuck do people think that 8th house energy is only about sex and intense connections? If a person has planets in your 8th house = that person does not like u 9/10 times. They'll talk shit about u when u ain't present/gaslight u/do things behind your back. They're usually jealous of u. Trying 2 cross your personal boundaries all the fucking time. WHO GOT TIME4THAT?? NOT ME LOVE⚠⚠.
Why do Cap inner placements/points always get a "boring", or a "cold" rep? We just don't like u? Trust me. We'll show u a good time, if we think you're worth it.
Jupiter is not only good. It enlarges EVERYTHING. So if someone has Sado asteroid (118230) conjunct Jupiter in their natal chart = a very smart/knowledgeable Sadist. They want to know everything! Hours&hours of research. They can't get enough with Jupiter! They're into some sick shit, and can use some really AGGRESSIVE ways 2 create that "pain and suffering". "shhh, I'm here baby, it's okay"🤨. 9/10 times = addiction 2 being that Sado "teacher" with Jupiter here🔞🔞. They can even brag about it!
Nessus asteroid - 7066 in synastry can definitely cause sexual attraction. But the Nessus person will always take advantage of the other person, no matter what. It may not be as "in your face"/prominent, like it is with the conjunction/square/opposition, but it will take place. Some can like Nessus contacts in synastry, if they have Nessus aspecting their own planets - especially inner planets, or points. And they can also handle Nessus energy way more, than someone who doesn't really have any Nessus contact, as they're already used to it. It doesn't make it good tho.
WOMEN with Black Moon Lilith conjunct/square/opposite Mars can hate being touched by men. Can also have trouble regarding intimacy with men in general/bc of their experiences with them🪚🪚. I have this, and if a man touches me out of nowhere = I'll punch him back 2 the year he should have stayed in a fucking condom 🦄.
Lilith asteroid - 1181) in 3rd house synastry can mean that the house persons siblings doesn't like Lilith if it's "poorly" aspected😮💨😮💨. Or that house persons siblings doesn't even want 2 try 2 create a relationship, because they already heard so much "shit" about Lilith🫠🫠.
💜 Pluto conjunct asteroid Valentine - 447) in a natal chart loves so fucking hard. They'll literally take a bullet 4 the person they love. They don't “create” a connection with anyone easy either. They're so intense when it comes 2 love, and with how they connect 2 another being. They transform/find themselves - Pluto, through those few people they do end up loving. Most people can't handle their intense ways of showing love🖤🔫.
Inner planets in Gemini degrees 3/15/27° in a natal chart are the real champions, when it comes to overthinking - but knowing everything beforehand. They already thought about ALL the different outcomes, 2 every fucking situation!🫰🫠😍🤭. They already know what time it is, before u tryna tell em.
Look at your Vertex persona chart 2 c what kind of fated things you're supposed2 go through in this life ✍👀. Make a synastry chart and c if your Vertex chart makes any significant aspects 2 your natal! It can show important life events/secret fated "events" that won't be seen in just natal or Vertex pc alone👽.
Lol, I'VE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY THAT ARIES RISING WILL HAVE RED HAIR, OR COLOR THEIR HAIR RED AT SOME POINT? I'm an Aries rising, and I would rather get shot in the face. I'm naturally blonde, and honestly? I haven't met a single Aries rising who has red hair, or would color their hair red.
Anti - Vertex persona chart shows what YOU choose2 let into your life, and what u choose 2 do without fate intervening. It also shows u how u choose 2 act, in moments where u find no "meaning", and that's where your Vertex pc comes in right after - Fate intervening 🔮🔮.
Pluto opposite ASC/conjunct DSC in synastry can show the Pluto person deciding/or trying to at least, who the house person talks 2/surrounds themselves with. They can think a person is "bad company" 4 the house person. They can be in DSC persons business, a lot! House person is alarmed/or not, depending on how Pluto is aspected in their own chart. If Pluto is afflicted = they kinda like it.
ANYONE who has benefitted/benefits from me = a planet/point/NN/Vertex/asteroid conjunct my POF. Your POF is all the things (material/or spiritual wealth/growth), u have "picked up" on/will pick up on throughout your life. U "help" others with that planet/point or asteroid in synastry💰🦉💳.
Star asteroids - Starr - 4150), Kallisto - 204), Fama - 408), Europe - 52), actor - 12238), Lumiere - 775 - acting, Apollo - 1862), Talent - 33154), Klio - 84), Fan - 151590), Records - 30718), Varuna - 20000) Webb - 3041).

Music, writing&poetry asteroids - Polyhymnia - 33), Euterpe - 27), Apollo - 1862), Terpsichore - 81 - song and dance) Luscinia - 713 - Singing), Melpomene - 18, Harmonia - 40), Erato - 62), Kalliope - 22), Singer - 10698), Cantor - 16246 - singing), Poesia - 946), Parthenope - 11 - singing), Tone - 1266), Echo - 60), Mnemosyne - 57).

no greater engine than desire | Lewis Hamilton Series
chapter one | big talk, big offers. nomi is a genius; it's true. when you need someone to make a championship-winning car, check Texas first.
word count: 3.5k
warnings: none
When Lewis had agreed to move to Ferarri, Fred already had someone else in mind to bring onto the team.
Now Fred was a French man who spent most of his time in Maranello, but he had eyes everywhere.
On this particular day, his eyes were in Texas.
"And she is there, yes?" Fred asks, his voice crackling over the speaker.
"She is," Alessandro confirms.
And the she they're referring to is Nomi Williams.
Now, the beautiful thing about Nomi is that she's an absolute genius.
She'd been on Fred's radar since his early days at Sauber, but then he knew he couldn't afford her. Now, he knew monetary issues wouldn't serve as a problem.
But back to Nomi, she's a genius, it's true!
You may ask yourself, what is a genius doing riding around a country dirt track in an old school Mustang in the middle of nowhere Texas? And why was an Italian man dressed to the tens watching her yards away?
The Mustang growled as it tore through the loose dirt, kicking up a cloud of dust that shimmered like gold under the hot Texas sun. Behind the wheel, Nomi was sharp; she was focused and effortlessly in control. Her hands commanded the wheel, and her foot teased the accelerator like she was coaxing a lover.
"I just don't get it." Fred sighs.
"Get what, boss?" Allesandro questions.
"Why she's in a place like that, with a brain like hers."
"Freedom," Allesandro replied. "Just her, a car, and the open road. You know the type—brilliant enough to rewrite the rules, stubborn enough to refuse to play the game."
On the track, Nomi slid the Mustang into a corner, the rear tires spinning just enough to test her control.
She smiles to herself as the car skids across the dirt, but the moment is interrupted by her phone vibrating on the dash.
She ignored it for a moment, letting the Mustang roar down the final stretch of the dirt track before pulling to a halt in a swirl of dust. She reached for the phone and squinted at the screen—an unknown number.
Frowning, she swiped to answer, her voice clipped. "Hello?"
There was a pause, and then Fred's accent cut through. "Nomi Williams, I presume."
Her brow furrowed, and she leaned back in her seat, already wary. "Who's asking?"
"Fred Vasseur," he said as if that name should mean something. And to her, it did.
Nomi's lips parted in surprise, but she quickly schooled her expression, even though he couldn't see it. "Well, this is unexpected," she replied coolly, her Texan drawl laced with intrigue.
Nomi steps out of the car, her worn boots digging into the dirt. "Is that your guy watching me?" She asks.
"What gave it away?"
"I don't know; I think the fact that he's dressed like Al Capone."
Fred chuckles over the phone, and Nomi lifts her arm to wave at Alessandro, who seems to forget the meaning of inconspicuous.
"He's mine," Fred admits.
"And he's here, why?" Nomi asks, swinging the door closed to her Mustang and leaning back against the side of the car.
"He's scouting for me."
"More like stalking; I should be afraid right now; how do you have my number?"
"I have ties."
"Scouting who?"
"You, of course."
Nomi chuckles, "Yeah, right, what use am I to you?"
Fred's laugh crackled through the phone, amused.
"Come now, Nomi. Don't insult us both with false modesty. You know exactly what you're capable of. I need someone like you on my team."
Her eyes narrowed, the heat of the Texas sun doing little to thaw her skepticism. "Your team? That's a long way from here. What could Ferrari possibly want with someone like me?"
"Someone like you," Fred repeated, his voice plunging slightly, "doesn't belong in the middle of nowhere, playing with dirt tracks. You belong on the world stage."
"And let me guess," she said, tapping the roof of her Mustang. "You're offering me that stage?"
"Not just the stage, everything," Fred replied quickly. "I need someone with your mind on my team who can see what others miss."
She tilted her head, considering his words. "And what makes you think I'd leave all this behind?"
"You underestimate yourself, Miss Williams."
"I don't," Nomi replied, crossing her arms as her eyes flicked to Alessandro, who was pretending to study something on his phone.
"I just don't see how my little Texas hobby is of any interest to someone like you."
"What you're calling a hobby is what I call brilliance. I've been watching you for a long time. I know what you're working on is more than a hobby."
"Well, that makes one of us, Fred."
Fred's chuckle, in return, was rich. "You're wasted there, Nomi. Hidden away in the dust."
The line went quiet momentarily as Nomi chewed on her lip, her boots scuffing against the dirt. The Mustang behind her ticked faintly as the engine cooled.
"Flattery doesn't work on me, Fred. Don't you already have your geniuses? What's the point in me?"
"Ah!" He laughs, "That's where you're mistaken! I have geniuses, yes! I have engineers, strategists, and drivers, all of whom are brilliant. But I have no one who understands cars like you. None who can give me what I want."
"What do you want?"
"A championship."
"Big talk."
"Big offers, too," Fred countered. "Alessandro has the details. Take your time to think it over."
"And if I say no?"
"Then Alessandro will enjoy his vacation in Texas, and I'll keep calling until you change your mind," Fred said.
The line went dead, leaving Nomi standing in the heat, staring at her phone as if it might offer her answers.
From across the track, Alessandro approached a folder in hand and a cautious smile on his face. "Well," he said, offering her the paperwork, "if nothing else, you've got Fred's attention."
"And you've got a long paid vacation in Texas."
Nomi actually loved where she was from.
She was a country girl through and through.
She loved the dirt, the tall grass, she loved her home and their animals and she was enamored by the old cars and dirt tracks, and the endless rocky roads she could skid down without repercussions.
The point is, she loved Texas. And she had only ventured away from her lovely abode only a few short times.
When she spent those four years away at college in Boston that was a twenty-three-hour drive and not a twenty-hour flight across the world.
She had yet to tell her family about the offer she had received.
She already knew how her family would react.
Her mother would get all pissy and sour and scold her father for encouraging her to go. She wouldn't want her to go. She'd be overly cautious. Her mind would reel about every bad thing that could happen to her baby, especially on another continent.
And her brother, he'd ask her what she wanted to do.
Which is why she asks him first.
She's fresh out of the shower, skin slathered in cocoa butter and hair braided down for the night when she leaves the ranch house and walks down to his house about fifteen acres down the trail. She could’ve taken the four-wheeler and cut that trip down to about a few minutes but she instead used the time to reel over her possibilities.
Her brain worked logically at all times, there were facts and then there were the very motives that contradict her ever wanting to take this chance.
She'd have to relocate to Maranello - fact.
Which would mean leaving Texas.
She'd have more money than she could spend - fact.
Money as of late hadn't been a factor.
She'd be making a name for herself in the motorsport world.
She was already an acclaimed engineer.
JJ's house came into view, and his porch light welcomed her as it always had.
She climbed the steps and knocked lightly before letting herself in.
He looked up from the couch, a half-empty beer in hand. “What’s up, sis?”
Nomi hesitated, leaning against the doorframe. “Got a question for you.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Shoot.”
“If someone offered you the world… but it meant leaving everything you loved behind… would you take it?”
Her brother set down the beer, studying her for a long moment. “That depends,” he said slowly. “Do you love what you’d be leaving more than you want what they’re offering?”
Nomi didn’t reply right away. She glanced out the window, where the Texas stars stretched endlessly overhead. "No."
Her brother smiled faintly, "That just means you're comfortable. Comfort is a luxury you've had your whole life. Do you want to be comfortable or do you want a thrill?"
Nomi sighs and plops down on the couch beside her brother.
"I received an offer."
"I figured," He chuckled, reaching for the remote and lowering the volume on the TV, "from?"
"Ferarri."
JJ whoops and literally jumps up from his seat, his beer sloshing onto his hand slightly. "Nomi! That's huge!"
Nomi drums her fingers against her knees, and JJ's eyes follow the movement.
"What do you think?" He tries his best to let the expectant look drop from his face. She didn't have a follow-up for his question.
"Okay," he breathes, settling back down onto the couch and wiping his hands on his jeans. Here's what I think, I think you've worked your ass off for years. You’re already one of the best engineers in the game. No one’s gonna tell you to take the offer, but you’ve earned that kind of opportunity."
“But...” he pressed, his voice softer now. “You know what it means. You’ve got a life here. You’ve got us.”
Nomi nods, "Which is why I shouldn't take it, right?"
"But that's the beautiful thing about family, Nomi. We'll always be here waiting for you. If that's your deciding factor, I've answered it. Mama might be a little down about it, pops a little too excited, but we'll always be here waiting and accepting you back with open arms."
"It is Ferrari," Nomi whispers.
"Exactly," JJ nudges her with his shoulder, "I can't see myself living in a world where Nomi Williams turns down an offer from Ferrari, the girl who named her horse Maranello, the girl who painted her first car red by herself. I mean you manifested this."
"When you tell Mama and Pops you're going, lead with that maybe."
"I never said I was taking it."
"I know you, Nomi."
The relationship between a driver and his race engineer is... delicate.
Yes, delicate. That's how Lewis would describe it.
There's a need for balance and understanding. For the relationship to thrive, there needs to be this consistent effort.
The engineer should want the win just as much as the driver if not more, and they should do anything to get them there.
Lewis had Bono, and up until last season, he was sure he'd found the perfect partner in the racing world.
They had a certain level of trust in each other.
But here's the thing about trust: it takes time to be built but can easily be broken.
Lewis wouldn't say his trust in Bono had completely fallen to pieces; it wasn't shattered, but the cracks had surely shown towards the end.
This is why he's a bit weary of whoever will be directing him this year.
He was starting over from scratch; this person would have to learn his driving style and the perfect balance between him and the car, and they'd have to trust his word. They'd have to trust him, too.
And in return, he'd have to trust them too.
Lewis didn't particularly like testing days.
In fact, he's opted out of testing for the last few years, instead giving the reserve drivers extra time in the car. But this year was different.
He was no longer at Mercedes; he was with Ferrari and knew absolutely nothing.
It's his main concern. It reeled over in his mind from the second he woke up, all the way into the showers; it lingered with him. It clung to him as he got dressed, and it rode in the car with him all the way to the track.
He could imagine him now, balding, with grey hair, slim and tall. That description seemed to fit too many of the Ferrari team.
He was sure it was a part of the application.
40+. Check
White/Italian. Check
Male. Double-check
Maybe they'd even thrown in a quiz. Describe the essence of Enzo Ferrari in 100 words or less.
Lewis sighed, picturing his engineer explaining strategy in a heavy accent, a cigarette dangling precariously between their fingers. "No push now, Lewis. Is good time for espresso."
He let out a laugh under his breath. If the guy showed up in red loafers and a silk scarf, he might lose it entirely.
So when he stepped into the Ferrari garage and saw his new race engineer for the first time, Lewis froze.
She wasn't 40.
She wasn't balding.
And she definitely wasn't a man.
Instead, she was... young. Younger than him. A woman with sharp brown eyes, a no-nonsense expression, and hair tied back in a ponytail like she didn't have the time to do anything else with it.
No cigarette. No espresso.
No red silk scarf, no loafers.
Just a clipboard, a laptop, and a very unimpressed look.
"Well," she said, glancing at her watch. "Glad you could finally make it, Mr. Hamilton. Ready to work, or should I grab you a cappuccino first?"
Oh, this was going to be fun.
Lewis raised an eyebrow, half in surprise, half in wonder, and used the moment to take her in. "I'm good."
"Great." She pivoted on her heel, moving quickly towards the car without even so much as a look over her shoulder.
Lewis catches on to the fact that he's supposed to be following her and quickly does so.
"We've got a lot of work to do."
"You're my race engineer?" He asks. And she stops in her tracks, her fingers passing the typing on the laptop she carried in her arm.
"Oh my god, you're so smart." She says dryly before continuing her march. "My name is Nomi."
"Right," Lewis muttered, stuffing his hands in his pockets. Sharp tongue, check. "How long have you been with Ferrari?"
"Long enough to know how this team works," she replied, stopping abruptly in front of the car. "Which, by the way, is about 80% drama, 15% tradition, and 5% actual racing. Welcome to the circus."
Lewis huffed out a surprised laugh. He hadn't expected that level of honesty. "Sounds like you've got it all figured out."
Nomi turned to face him, one eyebrow arching slightly. "I don't figure things out, Mr. Hamilton. I know them. And what I know right now is that you've got a lot to learn about this car."
"And you've got a lot to learn about me." He shot back. She freezes, and for a second, he's sure he's managed to fuck up just that fast, but then her face twitches, and a shit-eating smile takes over her lips.
"Good, let's start with that." She closes the laptop, nestling it and the clipboard under her arm, "Get in. I need data, and you need laps. Unless you'd prefer to chat over tea and biscuits?"
Lewis smirked, a flicker of amusement breaking through his guarded exterior. "Not really my style."
"Shame," Nomi deadpanned. "I had the good biscuits ready, too."
In the car, her voice crackles over the earpiece, "Radio check. Can you hear me?"
"Loud and clear." Lewis chuckles to himself after sending through his message.
Here, he was worried about the thick Italian accents when, in reality, a Texan drawl would be his biggest concern.
"Good," Nomi said. "Let's get you out there. Take your out-lap steady—no heroics. Just need to get some baseline data first."
"Oh, so you're taking the fun out of it."
"Fun comes later, cowboy," she shot back without missing a beat. "Let's see if you can even handle my upgrades before you start showing off. Pit lane's clear; when you're ready, take her out."
And he does.
And what this car is is nothing short of magnificent.
Lewis hadn't felt this fast since the W11.
And somehow, impossibly, this car felt even more alive than that.
"Steering is okay?"
"Feels good. Maybe a touch light, but I'll let you know after the first lap."
"Copy. We've got the brake bias forward by a click from Charles' run, but I can adjust it if it's not working for you."
Lewis took the car through the first corner, feeling out the balance. "Front's biting nicely. The rear feels planted so far."
"Not bad," she said, focused. "Don't get too comfortable, though. I set it up a little aggressive. Want to see how you handle it."
He smirked, pushing the throttle a little harder into the next straight. The car responded immediately, and he was a little shocked by just how smooth the power delivery was.
"This is aggressive?"
"Don't tempt me, Lewis," she warned a hint of laughter in her voice. "If you're not sweating by the end of this stint, I haven't done my job."
Alright, Nomi. Let's see what you've got."
Lewis grinned as he tore down the straight; the car hummed beneath him. He hadn't expected to feel this good or this fast. It was almost like Ferrari was trying to make up for years of... well, being Ferrari.
"Feels like you've been holding out on Charles," Lewis quipped as he braked hard into the next corner.
"Not at all," Nomi replied smoothly, her voice calm in his ear. "I just know how to set up a car for a seven-time world champion."
Lewis barked out a laugh, surprised at how easily the compliment—or was it a dig?—slipped in. "Careful, Nomi. Flattery will get you everywhere."
"Noted," she said dryly. "But don't get cocky yet. We're still in the honeymoon phase. Wait until you start complaining about understeer mid-race."
Lewis shook his head, a smirk tugging at his lips as he powered through another series of corners. "You've got me all figured out, huh?"
"I'm working on it," Nomi shot back. "And so far, you're about 50% talent, 40% ego, and 10% British politeness."
"Politeness?"
"Well, you did say thank you when I told you to get in the car. That's rare around here."
He chuckled, easing into the next corner and letting the car prom through the apex. The setup really was aggressive but in the best way possible.
"You weren't kidding about this being aggressive," Lewis said after a moment. "But it's good. Real good."
"Good," Nomi replied, efficient again. "Push a little harder on the next lap. I need data on high-speed cornering, and we'll see if those tires hold up."
"Copy that," Lewis said, already lining up the next straight.
For a few laps, their conversation shifted into a steady tempo of feedback and adjustments.
It was familiar territory for Lewis, but there was something different about Nomi's style.
For one, she was sharper, more direct. She didn't waste time explaining things he didn't need to know, but when she did speak, it was clear she knew exactly what she was doing.
As he brought the car back into the pits after the stint, Lewis found himself smiling despite the sweat dripping down his face.
When he climbed out of the car, Nomi was already waiting for him, arms crossed and a faintly smug expression on her face. "Well?" she asked.
"Not bad," Lewis said, grabbing a towel and wiping his face. "I could get used to this."
"Good. It was nice meeting you; I'm guessing I'll see you again in a month or so?"
"I-uh, yeah." Lewis reaches his hand out, "Nice meeting you too."
Nomi accepts the gesture, her hand slotting into his, "90% talent, 10% British politeness."
And then she saunters away, disappearing within some doors, so quickly and slyly that Lewis questions if he imagined her.
"Met Nomi, I see."
It's Charles. Face dripping with sweat fresh out of his car.
"Yeah." Lewis nods, still eyeing the doors where she disappeared. "She's... young," Lewis said after a beat, unsure if he meant it as an observation or a question.
Charles chuckled, crossing his arms as he leaned against the nearest workstation. "Young, yes. But if you think that means inexperienced, you're in for a surprise. Nomi's why we got 22 podiums last season and, frankly, the only reason we're not running a mid-pack car right now. She doesn't miss."
"She wasn't a race engineer last season, though?"
"No." Charles affirms, "But when she wasn't busy working on the 2025 car and tweaking her engine, she was upgrading our cars."
"Working on the car, tweaking the engine? You're saying that-"
"I'm saying that every piece of these cars came from blueprints she has scribbled in her notebook."
Fred approaches as Lewis states his next question, "And you trust her to build a championship-winning car?"
Fred shrugged, a knowing smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I trust her to make this car faster than it has any right to be. Whether that's good enough for a championship—well, that's up to you guys."

Hope this doesn't come off as too rude, but why are you making Jessie gain a lot of weight?
Sometimes it's health-related and it can't be helped but in this case, you're making her 'fatter' for what reason? Weight gain is a HUGE problem for thousands of people, and so is weight loss.
Sure, getting a little bigger is fine. Since Jessie is very skinny in the show, but not to the 'obese' point. It's sad to see her go from having a healthy body image to an unhealthy one
(I'm overweight myself. I'm not skinny at all. And I know for some it's probably nice seeing large women rep. But in this case, seeing a character go through what I went through and now I'm struggling with it and it causes a lot of strain on my mental health because of the weight I've gained... yeah...)
Everyone is different! It’s important to acknowledge that while losing weight may be healthier for SOME people, gaining weight may be healthier for others.
In Jessie’s case, she’s lived through poverty, literally eating snow, then even after getting a job at Team Rocket, she was still frequently on the brink of starvation. I would not jump to say her body was necessarily “healthy” given this context and I think it can be dangerous to do so. Healthy looks different on everyone! Her gaining weight is a sign of finally being comfortable and having the means to live happily.

Thank you, and to add some tinfoil-hat theory, anyone that feels cheated by the ending they got? It's because of the explicit bi erasure. You're mad? This is just another Wednesday for me. This is why i dont hate the ending - they made people *mad* the bi characters died, rather than casually accept that their deaths were inevitable as so many shows, including this one (as a *commentary* - more on that later), have done.
Season 15 (and most seasons, I would argue) is a meta-mirror of the real world, the writers explicitly likened Chuck to a network executive for a reason, and they wrote the Destiel arc to be so central to the plot, that the only way to end it was to fulfill the romantic arc and canonize the bisexual love in the room, or kill them, and the network had to choose - the writers didn't kill Dean and Cas, they gave the network a choice, and based on *market research* (see: the American public), most people would rather see a dead bisexual than a happy one, and that's how the writers attempted to make up for all the queerbaiting and homophobic nonsense we had to endure for 15 seasons - showing everyone their own ass, i mean, isnt this what they asked for?
We can joke about how it's a show that doesn't take itself seriously, but plenty of these writers had been working on this show for years, they loved these characters - if we watch their last season, deadly seriously, they have given us a pretty damning social commentary on the state of corporate/network censorship seizing control of our own narratives from us.
Edit: grammar, punctuation, wording
ok but where are my fellow bisexual castiel truthers huh where are my bi4bi deancas siblings in arms huh where are my cas-is-gay-but-as-in-the-umbrella-term people HUH WHERE ARE Y'ALL WHERE
#They weren't perfect#and I'll agree we got some shit writing from time to time#but I'm so sick of “fans” hating on the show#and it was definitely hard to accept s15 but the second go around is so much clearer#they are *screaming* at us to read btwn the lines and hear what theyre saying#it's a genuine fight to complete their story arc with a canonical romance *and* an apology for failing to defeat the network *and*#poison in the network well#they really told deans story well and died with a gun in their hand#and while thats a badass way to go that was never the way they *wanted* it to end#for them or dean or cas.#chuck won#and it's hardly subtext#spn tag rant#>?[#i mean cmon chuck literally calls his other universes “failed drafts” and doesn't toss them like a writer would *ever* treat their own work#he treats them like an executive shoots down compelling and impactful writing for mass appeal regardless of quality#they couldve made history and chose the most *boring* ending#also intentional on the writers part to have the confession scene (all hail berens) completely blow the finale out of the water#sure blame covid all you want but I'd bet money the writers room wanted the confession to be the send-off and not give the network#a satisfying ending after so cruelly ending one of the most lovingly written relationships on the show#look how jensen talks about dean#you think the writers don't also love him to bits and hate how his story ended just as it began?#cas and Dean's death made a *real-life* impact exceeding their own universe and stretching into ours#asking us to take control of our own narratives even though they could not escape the one chosen for them#as dean says#there is a right and there is a wrong here and you know it#their ending was *wrong*#it was terrible for the characters writers actors fans and bi/queer rep#these characters were defined by their commitment to getting off the hamster wheel (dean nearly *loses himself* in desperation to be free#and we still got a dead bi and a widowed one that could never live the life he wanted w/o him
