did anyone else make the connection that ludmilla might be the queen of zern? as soon as torse was talking about how the naughtomatons have dulled their hearts/minds/souls under the direction of a woman who appeared in zern, i remembered when they looked at the photograph of ludmilla with olethra’s planar energy sensor and it just returned a nothingness/a “null” result. i am willing to bet that she survived the straka attack and ended up in zern, feeling betrayed and embittered by what she felt was marya’s failure, and used her mechanical knowledge to harness the power of naught and embark on a mission to destroy zood as some sort of revenge against marya. or more likely, proof that being sky eyed and optimistic just leads to pain and suffering, and it’s better to feel nothing at all than to hurt
