It's tough. It is.
I'm a 30-year-old transgender man. From ages 16 to 23-ish, I was stuck in the alt-right pipeline, as well. I watched all that stupid bullshit with "feminists getting owned!!!1!" and what the fuck ever else. I think what pushed me towards it was how people on Tumblr used to be upset over EVERYTHING and would belittle me for my masculinity. I remember seeing a post that had a gif of a scene from some anime, I dunno which one, and it was of a naked girl laying down. People were complaining about her breasts not being realistic - it wasn't the size, it was that they weren't sagging or drooping, and that men need to be portrayed with rock hard dicks that never soften or whatever. But I was just sitting there thinking, "She's laying down... lol. Gravity is literally pushing her breasts against her chest, not pulling them down."
Anyway. Posts like that, but they got worse. I've had a lot of people on the left question my gender. "Why would you want to be a man? Women are the better choice." "I don't know why you'd want to do that, why give up your femininity?" I got into a small argument with a woman once on it, basically saying that it felt like trans men weren't really counted much and were largely ignored in the trans community, along with non binary people, who are usually just treated as "Women Lite." She got so angry that she told me, "You probably just wanna be a guy because you're too ugly to get one for yourself."
That's what tipped me over to the right for a bit. Until I realized they cared even less about me and that if given the chance, well. What happened on November 5th would happen, and they'd look for any excuse to strip me of my rights.
For cis, straight, white men it's not so easy to get out of. They're welcomed with open arms, there's no looming threat of having their rights taken away. So the pull of some "brotherhood" is more enticing. I was groomed and sexually assaulted by a man, but I was also sexually assaulted and groomed by a woman. I'll always believe that, no matter what, humans are just humans. White, black, gay, straight, trans, cis, man, woman - humans. And humans can be good, and they can also fucking suck. So I'll never say "all men are trash" or "all women are garbage" or anything like it ever again.
I see men's issues with mental health. I wish they would understand that it's the patriarchy that ultimately fuels those issues, and I wish some women would see how they also contribute to it. I see a lot of younger women these days placing men's entire values on their income, their careers, their appearances, what they can buy for them... I've seen a tweet of dudes just chilling and playing video games, showing off Pokemon cards or some shit and a woman quote retweeted it and said, "Men used to fight in wars. 🙄" Yeah. That'll stop toxic masculinity - tell men they're not real men unless they go to war and give up what makes them happy. Nice...
The patriarchy hurts women by enforcing the idea that they are to submit to men's wishes, stay at home, clean, cook, have babies. That's all women are allowed to experience.
The patriarchy hurts men by enforcing the idea that they are to overwork themselves, abandon any non traditional masculine interests and basic human emotions in favor of that work, and go to fight and possibly die in wars.
These ideals were put into place as soon as different tribes, races, countries and so on realized that, "Oh. There's OTHER types of people, and I want to be the most powerful and rich so they don't take what I have. Hmm. Better make sure women can only spit out plenty of babies and that plenty of those babies are men to be my soldiers and workforce."
If you're a man that supports any of those ideas, fuck you. If you're a woman that supports any of those ideas, fuck you, too. I'm sick and tired of generalizing people. I'm sick and tired of having to give up pieces of ourselves in order to put more money in billionaire's pockets. I'm sick and tired of men being told they're "too feminine" to be a man over being into stuff like sewing, baking, dolls, fashion, cozy games and I'm tired of seeing women being told they're "too masculine" to be a woman for being into coding, mechanical work, FPS games, science and I'm tired of seeing non binary people being told they're too much of one or the other to be non binary.
I'm tired of seeing men put down other men for having a fucking emotion other than anger or goddamn numbness. I'm tired of seeing women put down other women for being more attractive or not attractive enough. Just... stupid, petty bullshit that should have been over and done with decades ago, why the fuck are we STILL here?
It's tough. Because I love men and care deeply about men. But I also don't think we need to baby them and pat them on the back and say, "It's OK that you joined a fascist group of people that openly and proudly call themselves Nazis." And if a man ever tells me or any woman or AFAB person that it's "your body, my choice," I will grab the nearest blunt object I can get my hands on and beat the snot, shit, and blood out of them.
But I do think we need to work harder at not alienating our CIS, straight, white, male allies. We need to stop generalizing everybody and correct our language when talking about people. And we especially need to make it clear that the alt-right only seeks to divide for their own benefit, not for anyone else's. It's money and power that they want. Men, unless you are wealthy, you are just a vote and a pawn to them, nothing else. We need Democrats in the USA to stop rolling over and blowing kisses to Republicans in the hopes that they'll play nice and cut us some slack. It's not going to happen, not in meaningful numbers. And we NEED to crack down harder on alt-right online spaces. I don't give a fuck no more, get rid of that shit, I don't care if it's seen as too extreme or censorship, if you give these dangerous people a place to commune and feel safe with their harmful ideologies, then it WILL spill over into other spaces. And parents of young children: you need to BE BETTER at monitoring what your kids are seeing and doing online. Take it from someone who no-lifes online games: they are going into these spaces and saying heinous, horrible shit. They are being groomed, they are saying slurs and sexually harassing women, they are even seeking sexual attention and guidance from adults and strangers, and some of those adults are sick enough to take them up on their offers. One little trip into a few public instances of games like VRChat will be all the proof you need. I love the Internet, I really do, but I also see how its anonymity has done harm to us and has severely damaged how young people interact with each other, online and offline.
Anyway, sorry that was so long. I've been pissed the fuck off since I saw that Trump "won" the election and this shit has been on my mind for years, just even more so now.
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Okay. It's time for an AI rant.
My nephew is 13 years old. Whenever he writes a paper for school, I check it over and fix all of his mistakes for him. He said to me, "Maybe I'll proofread your paper for you in exchange," meaning one of the scholarly articles I write for work. I said, "Cool," and gave him the file. And he said, "Well, this is full of errors! See, you always say you have a lot to correct on my stuff, and look at all the stuff you got wrong!" And I said, surprised, "What? Where?" Because I'm sure there are typos in the draft I sent him, but not, like, that many.
And then he pointed to the screen and said, "Look at all the blue and red lines you have."
And I said, "Yeah, but those are wrong. Like, those are blue and red lines I'm ignoring because the computer is wrong." And then I paused and added, "You know you can't proofread a paper by just looking at the red and blue lines, right?" And he gave me the blankest look, because that clearly is EXACTLY what he thinks. And it became even clearer suddenly why, whenever I correct something on his paper, his immediate reaction is, "It didn't have a blue or red line."
There's a very good reason for that: THAT'S BECAUSE THE COMPUTER ISN'T SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT IT WAS WRONG.
I am so tired of being sold the idea that computers are better than humans and so we should just outsource everything to them, which is clearly the lesson my nephew is absorbing in U.S. middle school. COMPUTERS ARE NOT BETTER THAN HUMANS. Like, maybe they are better at humans at crawling through rubble to find people trapped inside. They are also better at preserving things in a searchable format. Things like that. Very limited circumstances.
I don't want to sound alarmist but everything I hear about people using generative AI freaks me out. It's not just that I'm freaked out by people being like, "I use it to write novels!" (Although I don't see how they do, I have tried to have it write fiction for me and the output was truly terrible.) But I recognize my bias around creative writing and so no one needs to credit my views on artificial writing. But! Other things are alarming, too! "I use it to brainstorm x, y, or z." But...why? Why not just...use your own brain...to...brain...storm? The computer doesn't even have a brain to brainstorm with! And you might be like, "But it comes up with things that my brain would never think of!" So would other people! You could also brainstorm with other people! Or even through Google to see what other people have thought before you (not AI). Please don't belittle the wonder of thinking.
I just feel like the marketing around generative AI boils down to "Wouldn't it be easier not to use your own brain to think about things?" Everyone. No. It would not be. Please just trust me on this. I'm not just an old person who is out of touch with technology or something. I promise. USE YOUR BRAINS. IT WILL BE OKAY.

Let's Talk About Un-ironicizing Art!
In light of a lot of the conversations i've seen surrounding Death Grips and recent events concerning them, I want to take the time to point out that this is a good time to start thinking about how we engage with art on the whole!
For a long time, the irony poisoned method of consumption went unchecked in all facets of internet culture. As an internet musician in current day, I have noticed a sharp disconnect between artists and enthusiasts/casual listeners when it comes to attitudes surrounding music specifically, though I've witnessed it permeate all forms of art in some way.
I see people who have grown scared to engage on deeper levels, intentionally severing any resonant connections or knowledge learned from a piece of media before it has the chance to take root. In short, dare to be vulnerable! Dare to enjoy something on the basis that you yourself resonate with it, and not for any other nebulous reasoning. When masses of people relegate art to a spectacle, not only do artists become more likely to be disenchanted with the passions that fuel their work, but the audience ultimately suffers as well. All art at that point becomes less an extension of ourselves, less a vehicle to explore our identities, and is rendered a meaningless hulking sludge, or worse, the opponent to an already shrinking and narrow worldview.
Be not afraid to be unabashedly in love with the work that inspires you. Be not afraid to have the things you love misunderstood by some. When you engage with work new and old, make sure to do it for yourself. Making and observing art is inherently selfish, but being selfish is not inherently misguided. Allow yourself to learn, grow, discover, and repeat that cycle until the day you die.
To speak more candidly about my own experience, throughout the course of my life, there has been art that I've held near and dear to my identity, and own journey of self discovery that I seldom find others who hold the same sentiments to. I've always found this exciting. Exciting to hold something close to my chest as something so personal, and even more exciting when I can ease up on that grip when I find someone who I can share that with. However, I've also been through the throes of how the internet tends to chew up and spit out art that generally isn't understood by the many. I've fallen victim myself to the hive mind mentality that circles some artists and the cult of non-identity around them. This off-color ouroboros of knowing all about an artist's work and simultaneously upholding this facade of vapid complacency. I've come to the conclusion that if being openly supportive and connected to an artist's work or a particular piece of work automatically renders a person uninteresting and unambiguous at the very least, then I will live happily as an uninteresting open book. At the worst times, we see this line of thinking contribute to Death Grips being mocked and belittled en masse by people who are unwilling to engage with their art before they even get that far. It's heartbreaking, to me at least to see people put so much effort, emotion, and passion into transforming culture for the better to be rewarded with a crowd that's plugging their ears.
I realize I run the risk of sounding self indulgent, or even patronizing to an extent; I apologize because that isn't my intention, I'm hoping to see gears shift at least on a micro level surrounding attitudes towards art appreciation. Remember to dare to be in love holistically with the art you engage with! Speak of the things you love in a way that makes that clear to others, and consider your peers to do the same! You and the people around you can only be better off for it.
#long post#really long post#music#death grips#the internet is full of bright and beautiful art so why not help yourself

notsobaddasssoldier!reader who is kinda a cunt
reader who just doesn't give a shit about the 141 rank or title.
"you think just cause your captain of some lil task force i'm gonna bend over backwards for you? be serious."
"cool you're lieutenant...and.... anything else interesting? like how you think halloween is 24/7, or...?"
"oh so it's a big accomplishment you're sergeant at your big age? tell someone who cares."
you're just so... eh about their ranks. but they get some power trip when you call them said rank. makes them feel some sort of way that depsite your snark, you still call them by rank. showing the clear difference of inferiority and superiority between you and them.
till you notice and shut that shet down.
"your so fucking stupid. it's like if i met The Pope. I'm gonna call him Pope because he's The Pope. I still don't give a shit though."
"or like meeting a Doctor and calling them Doctor. I don't give a fuck that the persons a Doctor. I'll still call em it."
"better yet. hate the king. hate the queen. but i still call them the queen and king. because their dumbassary is just linked to their 'ranks'. if you keep annoying me the same is gonna go for you."
you have so much sass and snark that it becomes a truly humbling experience. and it's like - damn. they could put you over their knee and really put you in your place but reader takes things from 0-100 real fucking quick.
"you wanna what you fucking freak?"
"excuse me-?"
"you're so fucking dumb. get a braincell dumb bitch. do it and fucking find out what happens."
"shot me in the head and watch my corpse not give a fuck because I don't."
and when the guys get a lil too fucking serious about putting reader in their place. reader suddenly has a gun pointed at their face. you see what I mean by taking things to 0-100 real quick?
"dummy. really tryna fuck with me when we're surrounded by guns? fuck outta here with that bullshit."
"matter fact I'd just kill myself-"
"NO!" *141*
it's obvious you may be young and perhaps a little too mouthy for your own good but it's clear you're not going to be pushed around.
but it's obvious you ain't here for the 'greater good' and just doing the work to get the paycheck. while the guys find your snark to be really fucking annoying.
it turns out that you definitely have some perks.
you may not be able to hold yourself very long in battle, just a very basic solider with basic skill sets- your mouth and attitude can really work wonders on people.
in particular, the egotistical rookie who things they're all that. taking their sweet time with basic tasks, belittling other recruits who can do the bare minimum. just in general, an asshole. that's when you step in.
"you ain't shit bitch cause at the end of the fucking day turdface, you ain't bullet proof. i can shoot you right now, and all your running and yapping will cease to exist. your corspe will rot. people will stop knowing you as the loudmouth rookie, and you will just become nothing. infact. you are nothing."
*the recruit opens their mouth. you interrupt.*
"Nothing."
*recruit tries again.*
"Nothing."
it's an endless cycle that ceases when your hardened glare doesn't stop and you pick up a rock intending to throw it at the recruit. the blank, dead, serious look in your eyes showing you are more than fucking serious.
what really works wonders though, is they way you aren't worried about putting a superior in their place. the other 141 have basically been beaten in and to not question anything. they have been made to believe they are weapons more than human.
that gets shut down real quick.
you all have just come back from mission, that was grueling. a couple of you were injured. everyone looked worse for wear. dirts, scratches, blood. someone no longer had their vest. a few lost weapons. barely had any inventory. needing food, sleep, and then a long shower shower.
but instead waiting for the task force, was a superior officer, holding the next mission file. a mission they were supposed to be getting ready for and practically leave as soon as they got back.
before price could grab for it, you intercept. grabbing the mission file and throwing it at the superior officers face.
"you giant fucking anal peice of dried solid dog shit. we're not fucking doing that. we just got back from hiding in a fucking forest for three weeks with enemy surrounding us to get intel from a camp- THAT WASN'T FUCKING THERE. so you better turn and take those pretty polished shoes to another task force."
"what is your name, soldier?" *superior officer growls.*
"Dolly Parton. Now Dolly has just worked longer than a nine to five and Dolly ain't got the patience for dealing with a man like you. i got two bullets left. one for you and one for me. and if you think i won't do it- well we can put it to the test now-"
perhaps it was the utter dead look in your eyes, or the gentle yet seething venom in your tone. the superior officer simply growls and turns on their feet, leaving the task force.
it's funny cause you do get the respect, you are barely a good soldier but dang you can get shit done when need be. so price doesn't transfer you. he still keeps you close.
ghost is the one who loves the feral little shit you are. gaz and you talk mad shit about everyone on base. soap just absolutely adores you, you're the little sibling he's always wanted.
a/n: inspired by the feral nature of gen z.

So while we're on the subject, here are some other thoughts.
I found Neil Gaiman's online presence - and the more overzealous members of his fanbase - annoying. And please stay with me here, I promise this isn't me trying to be smug or claim I "knew all along" or anything. There's a huge gulf between finding someone a bit annoying and thinking that their behaviour online is less than stellar occasionally and suspecting them of being a sexual predator. I don't think there could have been any way of me "knowing all along" without reading everything in the worst possible faith, which I'm not willing to do and which I maintain is not a good or helpful approach in general. And to people who genuinely looked up to him and felt completely blindsided by the news, I'm really sorry. It wasn't your fault and I hope you can do something kind for yourself today.
Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I didn't like the way he handled criticism of his work, a lot of the time. I don't think creators are obligated to personally listen to and address every negative opinion of their work, or explain every individual aspect of it that someone disliked. But I felt like a lot of his responses to feedback tended to lean into and encourage praise, while being a little disingenuous and sometimes belittling towards criticism. (And really, why feel the need to respond to everything when you could just ignore it?)
I didn't like the way he always felt the need to weigh in on fandom debates or throw out "word of god" explanations for this or that thing, including when nobody even asked. (Want to know who inspired the "I don't care what the author said" comment in my bio? Take a guess.) Especially when some of them felt engineered to paint him and his work in the best possible light.
Again, I'm not drawing attention to all this in an attempt to claim any one thing was a blatant red flag or must have been down to some sinister motivation. That's not the point I'm trying to make.
But it is one of the reasons that I was always deeply uncomfortable by the culture of hero-worship and "touch not god's anointed" that always seemed to exist around him. Like regardless of whether or not you thought this or that criticism against him was warranted, the way people would treat him like some kind of messiah who deserved nothing but praise and lose their absolute shit whenever anyone said anything remotely negative about him was absurd. Nobody deserves that, regardless of what they've done.
But at the same time... you know, I liked his work. Not just "I liked the stuff he co-wrote with someone else" or "I liked the films and TV shows he worked on with a whole bunch of other people." I liked the books he wrote by himself. They had some parts worth criticising, sure, what doesn't. But overall I thought they were well-written and funny and thought-provoking and I enjoyed myself when I was reading them. Neverwhere is the first book I had a crack at re-reading in a different language, which should tell you how much I liked it. And I didn't even dislike everything he posted on the internet. I thought some comments were pretty funny and/or insightful. I even reblogged the odd post.
And I wasn't all that vocal about any negative feelings I had towards him, because... well, frankly because a lot of the negative feelings I'd seen expressed by other people about him tended to look like "he's the devil incarnate, his work sucks, he's the worst person alive and he secretly hates every marginalised group and people should feel ashamed for sincerely liking his stuff."
And I didn't agree with that either! I didn't want to be roped in with those people. I didn't feel comfortable around them, any more than I felt comfortable around the Neil Gaiman Defense Squad, Working Tirelessly Day And Night To Aggressively Stamp Out Any Criticism Of Our Lord And Saviour.
And honestly I'm not entirely sure what kind of broader point I'm trying to articulate here, or whether I'm just working through stuff in my head. But I will say that this kind of polarising, zero-sum-game approach to criticism is... bad. It's just bad. It makes it so people are reluctant to put forward any kind of nuanced stance, for fear that they'll end up getting pigeonholed into one oversimplified category or another, or it ends up pushing people towards one extreme stance or another out of sheer frustration or contrariness. And it makes it incredibly difficult to have any kind of actually productive debate when it comes to criticising media, or criticising creators. Inevitably people's hackles are going to be up whichever side they lean towards more, and a lot of people with valuable input will inevitably end up going "yeah, I can see how that's a good point, but also the last person who brought this topic up with me deemed it appropriate to send me a barrage of messages telling me to kill myself about it, so forgive me if I'm not interested in engaging any further."
Obviously a culture of hero worship inevitably makes it a lot easier for predators to operate, and I have no doubt that being inundated with messages about how wonderful you are and how everyone who's criticising you is in the wrong must make it a lot easier to rationalise your actions. But I feel like this tendency to paint everything in terms of "are they a pure uwu blameless smol bean angel OR the devil incarnate" is incredibly unhelpful regardless of what side you come down on. The "devil incarnate" crowd can be part of the problem too.

Hey. Asking about how Chloe was abused. My knowldge of abuse is fairly limited to general pop knowledge so I'm curious as to what abuse was done to her.
Okay caveats first:
I am not a medical professional, I am simply someone with a vested interest in the topic who has done more research than the average person.
There are many definitions of abuse. Legal definitions are rarely useful, as they are limited to concrete, provable, gross violations. Just as you can inflict a lot of pain on someone without leaving the marks to prove assault, you can do a lot of damage to a child without it being legally 'provable'. Medical definitions are much more helpful for discussions.
Lastly some level of extrapolation is required as it is a show. We take what we are shown. For example:We actually only have Felix's word that he was ever abused, and his first character traits sre being deceitful and manipulative. We still take his word though, because it's a show. (And also we should give weight to victim accounts!)
So both parents are guilty in different ways. We will start with Audrey, the simpler one. There's clear verbal and emotional abuse demonstrated on screen. Mis-naming your child is a form of abuse:please ask the trans community about the impact of deadnaming even in full grown adults.
Beyond that she is constantly dismissive and belittling of her child- to the exclusion of all else. Style Queen/Queen Wasp is rife with examples. There is also the clear behavior shift in Chloé. The wheeling, approval seeking, hunched posture expecting rejection. This is a *pattern* not a one off. Audrey may live in NY, but no fashion movil would be away from Paris for 13yrs straight. We are simply seeing the most recent interaction. This culminates im a child having to ask 'Why don't you love me mother?' and the response is telling
Audrey barely chokes out the strange word when trying to contradict the question. It takes Marinette literally making them both mad at her to get a bare minimum of interaction on Audrey's part. It doesn't last though. Audrey falls back into her negation behaviors and is now present to inflict them more regularly on Chloé, while also being a constant target for/model of behavior for Chloé. (Seriously it was such a misstep to write Marinette reuniting a victim with an abuser) We know the show itself considers Audrey'ss care as a bad thing because the original script had André divorcing her and takin Zoé because Zoé 'doesn't deserve you' so Chloé being in an abusive parenting situation in Representation is supposed to be 'punishment'(ewww)
André is not off the hook either. People look at him 'spoiling' her and leave it at that. Well, 'spoiling' can in fact be abusive too. Let's look at what we see:
André has been her primary caregiver for 14 years now, so he has had the most responsibility in molding what we see for good or bad(mostly bad). She does learn from him too. Darkblade she proudly announces she learned everything about winning elections from watching her father. He's also excessively arrogant (I'm the symbol of Paris!) and quite willing to abuse his power for his own ends(having Roger round up protestors etc) which explains where Chloé learned where power is to be abused.
André is also extremely neglectful as a parent, extreeeeemely. Let's hit a bunch of points in the order they come to me.
Chloé lives *alone* in a hotel suite. There's no shared space, no family area. It's not even really her room. It's commercial, sterile. Where sre her hobbies? Posters? Even her *colors*? She is so used to being ignored at home that the girl who is loud as heck everywhere else doesn't make a single mark on her living space.
A hotel employee seems to think he needs to step in to raise Chloé. Let that sink in. An employee can see how bad it is and tried to make some kind of change, (he's working against a lifetime of ingrained behavior and is not very good at it himself). He doesn't even think to you know... Get Andre in to do this.
André was unaware or didn't care his daughter hasn't done schoolwork since Sabrina *learned to write*(5/6 yrs old) that is a shocking level of disinterest in your child. 6yr olds aren't criminal masterminds.
Andre supplants actual attention and affection with *stuff* he gives material possessions in *place* of parenting. This is somewhat similar to spoiling but not the same. André's method denies the child something vital. You see- things aren't a substitute for affection/attention, developmentally. And so while they may delight they never satisfy the need. They never validate the emotional attachment. So after the shine wears off, the hole is still there. So, like someone with an addiction, the child needs more, and more, and more. Since the needs are never met, it is never enough. And this is what the child views as *normal* this is simply *how it is*. They rarely know they are being given inadequate care because it's just life to them. Seeing something different in a one off doesn't make a dent vs a whole life.
This sort of thing makes a potent cocktail when mixed with the abandonment issues from her mother too. See- if her mother left, and daddy doesn't pay attention, anyone can leave. This leads to a cycle of pushing/demanding/hurting. The child expects to be left and let down, so they both try to reassure themselves it won't happen, and *make* it happen on their own terms (because they believe deep down it will) so more outrageous demands, because when those demands are met, it shows that you are still 'loved' and when they are not met, then there you go, you are not loved and they will leave you. It's a self-destructive spiral.
You see it play out with her interactions with her classmates and Sabrina specifically. How does she express affection? Gifts. What does she do? Push. Push and push and find the breaking point because if she can make Sabrina actually leave then it shows that she herself is worthless and her mother was right to leave her and her father is right to ignore her. Pretty messed up right? Yeah. Child abuse does horrible things to kids.
We're not done with André yet. Some people might say 'he expresses love for Chloé!' and to that I say- performatively.
André likes the idea of being a father. It's what respectable people do. It looks good on camera. It's someone to love him unconditionally. It's an ally against his wife.(broken home dynamics are horrible too) André just doesn't like having to parent for more than a snapshot.
We can see his interactions with Zoé highlight this too. He's delighted she's here!(a potential person on his side vs his wife and daughter) what's his first parenting advice? 'lock your dreams away and get on with life' A+ André.
What's he do in Queen Banana? He uses his power to let Chloé manipulate the movie *kicking Zoé out of it* This is the guy who is supposed to be supporting her? He only draws the line when it comes to sending Zoé away... Why? He doesn't want to lose an 'ally'. It's power dynamics. Not parenting. Where was he when Zoé was stuck in boarding school? He was going to keep Zoé in the divorce so clearly Mr Lee isn't in the picture, Audrey probably forgot Zoé existed, why didn't André bring Zoé to France and let the sisters grow up together? Oh, right, that might be work.
André likes Zoé because she comes pre-raised(boarding school was probably better than either parent) he doesn't have to put in work and he gets a free good kid to make him look like a father. She's his 'do over' as he throws the one he raised in the trash.
André shows his true colors when he's lamenting to Gabe about his corruption and abuse and blames ot on his 'heartless daughter' you know... The child he raised. The grown man is actually shoving his own corruption and misdeeds onto his child. You really don't need much more than that.
So, via neglect, verbal abuse, and emotional abuse the Bourgeois parents raised an incredibly messed up child. Chloé is not a 'good victim' like Adrien, she doesn't sulk quietly under abuse. She lashes out. She is hurt and angry and she passes the pain on. This is why they call it the cycle of abuse.
The end of Revolution illustrates this perfectly. Audrey throws verbal abuse at her on the plane. Angry that Chloé embarrassed her(not that she did wrong, Audrey loved the power grab) and calls her a loser by implication. You *see* it hit, the physical cringe. Then Chloé immedietely goes to try and pass on the pain. She is hurt and making someone else hurt is the only way to lessen it. She calls Marinette. Marinette breaks the cycle though, and good for her. But the show seems to have forgotten there's still one hurt child in this scene, and it doesn't seem to care.
I'm going to stop here for now. I probably left a bunch out, but I do have other things I need to do. Feel free to ask more questions. Thanks for taking the time to seek answers.

So I was re-watching "Oops" grabbing some screenshots for a different rant when it occurred to me, damn, Striker really should not have been in this episode. I know it's not a hot-take, lots of ppl have said this already, but I mean even for the way the writers want the show to go, right down to tone, they really botched an opportunity. I'll let someone else talk about how Striker working with Crimson makes both antagonists so much less intimidating, right now I'm just gonna focus on the narrative so far, and unfortunately for a lot of critics of the main ship it's pushing, this will have a lot to do with Stolitz.
So when we first meet Striker, it's in "The Harvest Moon Festival". The episode starts with Stolas inviting Blitz and the gang to be his royal guests at said festival. Blitz makes him promise it's neither murder work nor a sex thing and Stolas agrees. This is (to the audience's knowledge) the first time Stolas has invited Blitz out to be seen together publicly without any strings attached. He's not being bought, he's not acting as a bodyguard, and he's not expected to bang anyone at the end of the day.
Blitz meets Striker, Striker boosts up Blitz's ego immediately, they enter the pain games together, split the win, have a general good time, and at some point off screen, Blitz offers Striker a job at I.M.P.
And then Blitz catches Striker trying to kill Stolas. He's pissed, but not as pissed as he gets when Striker almost causes him to shoot Moxxie.
Blitz bites the man and puts a hole through the wall during the fight. They really go at it, it's a pretty intense fight, and you can really feel the rage in Blitz during it.
Putting a pin in Stiker for a minute, let's skip to the next episode, "Truth Seekers" we get a peek into Blitz's headspace surrounding Stolas. He feels chained to Stolas, but through his expressions during the staircase climb, it feels like he wants it to be more than just transactional. Well, at the least, hopes it can be more. Stolas swoops in at the end of the episode and (not without belittling Blitz verbally) saves Blitz and the people he most cares about. And then Stolas asks for a "reward". This 100% highlights Blitz's torn feelings. Does he let himself believe the care is real, or is it just for sex at the end? Well...
He got his answer didn't he? Stolas doesn't stand up to Ozzie for him. He doesn't make a clear statement that Blitz is more than just a cheap lay. And that hurts.
At the end of the night Blitz can barely get the words out to set a boundary for himself.
The next time we see these two interact is in "Seeing Stars". Do we get to see the resolve of the night at Ozzie's? Nope. But something has clearly changed since then, bc not only does Blitz show genuine concern for Stolas and try to reassure him, at one point, briefly, he's even receptive to Stolas's flirting again.
Two episodes later, Striker is back. Blitz very much so has complicated feelings surrounding Stolas at this point, but he shows not just concern, but both fear and rage again at the thought of Striker harming Stolas.
One could definitely argue at this point that this is about his means to continue his business and source of income and that of his employees, but there is something to be said about him almost cancelling Loona's doctor appointment to go save the rotten owl. Loona is always Blitz's first priority, and though a single vaccine might seem small in comparison to a life, if it really took five years for an appointment, that could be his daughter's life as well, assuming "hellbies" is just rabies but it's in hell. He thought about it. He was ready to turn the car around when Millie and Moxxie stepped in.
And even though Striker got majorly character assassinated in the episode, he tore up Stolas really bad. Him and his angelic weapons do carry real stakes with them, however much they want to make him a joke character. (Again, such a waste of potential)
With the narrative we know the writers are going with, Blitz does care about Stolas. The realization he can get hurt is probably shocking and terrifying to Blitz. He'd probably both be angry with himself for not going, but getting to the original point, he'd probably be furious at Striker.
Now I know Helluva has a huge tone issue. Is it a comedy? A lot of the time, yeah. Is it a drama? There's definitely drama in it. Romance? Highly debatable. Horror? I mean, it does take place in literal hell, so. Action? It's mixed in there too.
Personally though, I would like to think that the next time Blitz saw Striker, he'd tear him to shreds. I'd think the tone would be on the more serious side. He's hurt Millie and Moxxie very badly in Harvest Moon, he's hurt Stolas to the point he was hospitalized, that's three of the four people Blitz is currently close with. Narratively speaking, Striker could easily be Blitz's main external antagonist. It works both from a more action based tone, but also if you want to push Stolitz, which we know they do. And yet...
He's just an irritation for Blitz.
He didn't need to be there, it could have just been Crimson and his sharks. Would it have felt weird having him be a stand alone villain again just 3 episodes after he was first introduced, sure. But not any weirder than Stella's personal hitman looking for work in Greed and just happening to find it with said Mafia boss.
I know this was a Blitz/Fizz episode, I get that, I'm not complaining about that, hell, it literally could have been just them figuring their shit out together. But that just makes it even more glaring that Striker shouldn't have been there. This wasn't about him, this wasn't for him.
He's cowboy themed, right? And he's given Blitz plenty of reason to beat the absolute shit out of him? After hurting Stolas like that, (narratively speaking) his next showdown with Blitz should have been some high noon duel shit. Blitz rocked the vest in Harvest Moon, just give him the duel revolvers and start counting steps.

I’m begging you to elaborate on Shizuku. Sounds kinda hot (please and no pressure, hot ladies do something for me😫)
Tw: non/dub-con, oral, strap-on usage, fisting, forced cuddling/kissing, Shizuku is a menace and you'd better hope she doesn't get horny in public because she WILL fuck you in front of other people without any hesitation
Sure! I'll eventually have both a general and nsfw profile for her up, but in the meantime, just know that Shizuku (along with a few other women spanning the fandoms I write for - specifically Mirko and, to a lesser extent - and with significantly more grace - Pakunoda) are anything but subtle when it comes to their desire to be intimate with you.
She doesn't try to hide the way she's feeling - regardless of whether she's in the mood to intertwine your pinkies, cuddle you for hours, or shove her face between your legs. She doesn't see a point in trying to hide her desires - why should she? The whole reason she kidnapped you in the first place was to have free, easy access to your affection and attention, and it just doesn't make sense to limit herself.
You can tell her to have things like 'common decency' or 'self respect', but she doesn't really understand why you seem to think she's lacking these things. She's not diminishing her common sense when she grabs your wrist in an iron lock and pulls you against her back, so that you're spooning her and listening as she hums happily and snores lightly.
It's not belittling, like you seem to think, when she makes sure your hand - still trapped by her hold, even in her sleep - is made to cup her breast, so that she can fall asleep to your touch and perhaps influence her dreams into having a more risqué plot. (And sometimes, when she wakes up, forgetting that she put your hand there, she's more than willing to indulge you in some morning sex - you'll feel hair tickling the inside of your thighs as you rouse awake, Shizuku's voice cheering a good morning, baby that gets muffled against your cunt.)
She's not even remotely embarrassed when she looks at you and taps her chin, her voice genuinely contemplative when she asks you if you'd rather have her sit on your face, or ride your thigh? It'll take a while either way, you know , because I'm pretty horny right now and I want to come a few times. Let's go with your face - you'll have more fun that way, too.
(Nevermind that she always drops all her weight on you, and while she's not particularly heavy, she doesn't really acknowledge when you're tapping at her thigh or squirming under her, begging for air because her slick is just everywhere, and you can't seem to find any room to breath - the only thing you seem to be able to inhale is her her her, exactly how she likes.)
She'll always be asking you sexual questions - she doesn't just let things happen naturally (not that you want them to; she's kidnapped you, after all), instead always broaching the topic with the most apathetic, flat expression she can manage. She's not ashamed in the slightest - she's never denied the fact that she wants to fuck you in every way she possibly can, and because she can overpower you without even trying, you won't have much of a choice in the matter.
She wants to do everything to you - except, Shizuku is much more selfish in bed than she realizes, because while she enjoys getting you off, she'd much, much rather receive than give. She wants to be the center of your attention, to be fawned over and worked into her orgasm. She wants to feel the way you caress her skin and kiss every inch of her, your pretty eyes watching as she sighs and hums and cards her fingers through your hair.
She manhandles you, and as soon as an idea comes to her about something sexual she wants to do with you, she'll pull you away from whatever you're doing, free hand already working at the button and fly of her jeans, and tell you, nonchalantly, that we're going to fuck now. Bed or floor? How charming.
A few extra thoughts about her that I wanted to mention:
When you're eating her out, she'll physically pull your face closer to her cunt. Like, fingers grasping your head and pulling you forward with all her strength until your nose is literally buried between her folds, mouth pressed against her and your eyes just barely able to see her biting her lip from over the mound of her pelvic bone. It makes it hard to breath, and you'll always end up getting her slick all over you, making you a sticky mess and always smelling like musk and her. (She won't let you wash your face afterwards, either - she's too intent to cuddle with you when all's said and done, and she'll always giggle a bit when she sees you with the ring of white around your mouth.)
I know I briefly mentioned it in the post you're referencing, but she has this strap she bought a few years ago on a whim - it's a dark purple color and it's thick, enough to get you wincing a bit when she shoves it inside you. She likes watching, because while she doesn't have a dick herself and doesn't particularly like imagining anyone with a dick fucking you, there's something about the way your cunt flutters and sucks the plastic in again and again that gets her drooling and rubbing her own thighs together. She's always thrusting hard, fast, and deep, leaving you sore and nearly screaming because it's just all too much. She's like a man who doesn't understand the concept of thrusting, rather than jackhammering.
Conversely, she wants you to fuck her nice and slow when you're wearing the strap, and she likes when you're facing each other. She'll lay back and let you do all the work, her pillow princess tendencies really shining in these moments. She wants deep, languid thrusts, with lots of touching and pinching at her nipples, hickies sucked into her neck and a finger - your finger - constantly rubbing at her clit. She's high maintenance, and she doesn't even realize it.
She's a little bit into fisting - she just likes testing your limits and seeing how far your pussy can stretch and how much it can take. It's like a morbid fascination for her; she'll lean over your pelvis and stare as her fist disappears inside you again and again, making this squelch noise each time. She's staring, dark eyes boring into your body, and she's talking, too. Her voice is normal, not any hint of her arousal at watching as she tells you that you're taking this so well, you must do this a lot. Did you used to do this, back before we moved in together? I bet you did, and I bet you thought of me while you were doing it, too. At least she's kind enough to only bother shoving her fist inside when you're actually wet enough to try it.
She also kind of has a thing for public sex - there's something hot about the idea of someone watching you and her, and while she'd never let anyone else touch you, she likes having an audience. It's like showing off exactly how much you love her, because you're fingering her and kissing her right in front of a red faced Machi and Phinks (innocents who were merely caught in the cross fire in the public space of their latest hideout, though the prominent erection Phinks is sporting and the clear outline of Machi's nipples through her shirt tell Shizuku they're enjoying the show more than they'd care to admit). She just likes when people watch because it feels dangerous and exciting, and because it means other people can see that you're hers.
Shizuku does have some strengths in the bedroom, though, I promise! It's not all bad - she almost always gets you to orgasm, and she's actually very good with her fingers. She's gotten herself off enough times to the thought of you that she can get aroused and wet very easily when you're involved, and eventually she'll get you to have that same response, too. Honestly, it's a bit of a Pavlovian response - the minute you see her shuck off that black turtleneck, you're already feeling a bit of a warm sensation between your legs, even if it's just your body desperately trying to lubricate itself rather than actual excitement for what's coming.
Hopefully this is what you were looking for anon, I actually love Shizuku! I think she's a good example of an entirely non-self aware yandere who makes everyone in the room uncomfortable, not just you. So at least there's solidarity in numbers. Except, not a single person will be helping you, even if her behavior makes them shift awkwardly and look away. They're all Spiders, and if you're what Shizuku wants, then you'll be what she gets.
Thanks for sending the ask :)

Hi King!!! I absolutely adore your fics my dude, I found your trapped in the wilderness fic like a year or two back, forgot about it, and then found your Daichi time travel fic. So you can imagine my delighted surprise when I looked at your ao3 account and found out this was the same author! I was like “0o0, I KNOW YOU!! :D” Suffice to say I love your Haikyuu fics they are an absolute gem to read (Time Enough to Risk it All and Paranormality are my personal faves)
I had a question for you, similar to a previous ask you got about tips on writing? Not general tips mind you, I’m trying to write a Haikyuu fanfic myself starring Oikawa, and I wanted to know if you had any writing tips regarding character writing specifically? Like, in regards to getting into a character’s head and how that influences the POV? I’m probably going to have multiple POVs in different chapters, but I don’t want to run into the old trap of, “These are two separate characters but they sound like the same person” y’know? Also want to make sure I’m avoiding OOC territory, while taking any potential plot developments and how that would change a character into account. And I know you’re good at that, all your interpretations of the Haikyuu cast feel distinct yet true to the characters at their core!
aaaaaaaaaa oh my god thank you so much 😭 I'm very glad you've liked my silly stories so much. I will do my best to provide advice for your question here...
**Keeping Characters In Character - this is VERY fanfic specific!!**
[obv. writing original work requires strong character voice but the question and this response is super focused on characters that you have source material to work with]
1. my immediate first thought, and the thing I default to the most, is **Pay Attention To How Other Characters Talk About Them** yes, its all fine and dandy to go off and say "oh theyve got these secret other side-" because yeah!! they probably do!! everyone is multiple people depending on the circumstance!! but the way other characters talk about them or act around them really will define how your character is behaving, because it shows how they are *choosing* to behave (and what can be seen from the outside) Paying attention to the relative relationships of these characters describing them matter too. Here are examples (all from Haikyuu) of how I do this:
1. Daichi
[in early season 1, when Daichi gets mad at the duo, Suga and Tanaka both start trying to fuck off out of scene in preparation; similarly, both Suga and Tanaka try to hide their secret practice from him.] = People are generally afraid of him, or aware that getting yelled at is on the table, but he's predictable. They both start acting afraid BEFORE he gets angry because they are familiar with his patterns. [Suga and Asahi comment on it feeling weird when he's nice to them, and he snaps at them to say he could be mean instead.] = His casual conversational tone isn't very complimentary. Since we dont see him being overtly mean, I asssume this means he is on the quieter side, probably very reserved, and typically speaks up to correct someone or direct and take control of a conversation. Being overtly nice is seen as a deviation is his conversational habits. [Noya acts very distinctly interested and pleased when he learns Daichi has given him a cool nickname] = People hold a lot of respect for him. Given the previous details, we can assume this is at least in part due to him often withholding such praise, but also we can use it to temper the previous notes. His "meanness" is not coming across as malice, but rather something worth respecting or justified in some way.
Application in Writing: Dialogue should be direct and consistent, use shorter sentences and have him think before he speaks. He finds annoyance and anger easier to express and will likely withhold affectionate conversations from everyone regardless of closeness of friendship level. While he comes across mean, he is not insulting, belittling or cruel, and since people have significant respect for him, he likely avoids situations that would make him look foolish, and will probably be the last to join in on the fun.
QUICKER EXAMPLES:
2. Suga [Every character describes Suga as nice and kind, there is no "bad review" of him.] = No matter his opinion of someone, Suga will use kind, gentle language with them and avoid giving them a reason to dislike him.
3. Oikawa [Iwaizumi, in voice over, says something to the effect of: "despite how he might seem, Oikawa is actually a pretty goofy guy."] = While not given the opportunity often, Oikawa is playful, unserious and silly - the word "goofy" is important to note. Its not funny. Comedians are funny. Dogs with long floopy ears are "goofy" - However he either intentionally or unintentionally chooses not to behave this way often. Either way, he has distinct "sides" to him that can be identified. However, his natural state is far more goofy than we give him credit for, so he will likely be the first to crack jokes, laugh at dumb things, or general want to lighten the mood. He doesnt like things to be gloomy and may actively resist that kind of conversation or situation.
4. Leon calling Ushijima a "super volleyball idiot" says way more about his behaviour off the court than anything Ushijima ever did. Oikawa and Kageyama and Hinata and Atsumu get to be monsters but no, Leon says its the term "we" are most "satisfied with". Did they pitch other names? They do not take Ushijima seriously at all. So his terrifying persona is probably very superficial. None of the team has ever had an actually bad experience with him, and he is very consistent in his likes and desires: probably doesnt have a (conversationally) confrontational bone in his body. "We could call him a monster but nah, he's too fucking weird for that." Like what more of a character study do you need!! Leon STOP.
This is dragging on longer than I want it to. I apologize. I could have more to say on the matter but to sum it up quick:
People, humans, are multifaceted, but ultimately are most defined by how they are remembered, and how they choose to present themselves to the world. This is will affect that "voice" that you're worried about sounding the same. Ultimately, all your characters will be the same. Everyone is insecure, everyone wants to be seen as attractive, everyone things theyre not good enough, everyone worries their lover will grow tired of them, everyone thinks they are the only person to have ever felt that way. The change, that voice, is how they want everyone else to look at them.
Using the previous notes, we can answer the question: "Oh my god, You look really good today!!" 4 ways. Internally, they're all very happy to receive a compliment because they wore a new shirt and they weren't sure it looked good. Externally...
Daichi: "Oh. Thank you."
Suga: "Ohh, Thank you! That's so sweet of you to say."
Oikawa: "I look really good today? Did I not yesterday? Ah, just messing with you - I know I looked good yesterday."
Ushijima: "I do? Good."
LAST TANGENT:
if you are NATIVE ENGLISH and youre writing fanfiction for NON-ENGLISH SHOW. IDC if youre a subtitles purist, WATCH IT IN ENGLISH. being able to (in your native language) use the characters voice in your head to read dialogue makes a world of difference. I DONT CARE if you can head Sugas Japanese VA perfectly - UNLESS YOU SPEAK JAPANESE IT WONT HELP.
Whenever I'm struggling with writing Sugawara, or a l think he's OOC, I just mentally replay the soundbite from the dub of him going "Good Grief!" like a goddamn oeanuts character and then its like "oh yeah. he's back. i know how to write him now."
I have a few of these little soundbite grounding things for some of them. Its REALLY helpful to be able hear the characters voices saying the lines (sorry if youre deaf..) and if you CANT (and you normally can) then maybe the dialogue is ooc.
WAIT ONE MORE TANGENT:
"King, you've only talked about dialogue??? what about-" Dialogue controls actions!!! if you can get a characters conversational tone and linguistic habits down, you'll have NO ISSUES keeping their physical habits in check.
thus concludes another advice corner. i am working on the other questions atm but i have limited time and cannot do more than 1 after work without my brain melting so :)
thanks for reading :) happy writing
xx

💋🎉🥰🤲
For this ask game.
💋 First kiss fics. Love em or hate em?
A fact about me, which may seem counterintuitive given my posting, is that... I'm actually not that much into shipping. I appreciate it, when done well, but it's not really the romance per se that draws me to things or drives my interactions with a piece of media. I don't really love OR hate first kiss fics; I suppose I would put them in the same category I put whump: if it's well done, and has some kind of plot or deeper introspection or something around it, something that helps the characters develop in some way, that's great! But just for its own sake? Meh.
🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?
It's cliche, but feedback, especially comments. One of the best I ever got was on the first fic I posted, where I'd put a stereotypical "I'm not a writer, please be nice" sort of nonsense at the top. I got a comment from a complete stranger that started with, "okay, 'not a writer,'" and rode those four words straight into the next two stories I wrote. If I've made someone feel something enough that they've taken the time to say so, that's pure gold, and a definite win.
🥰 How do you feel about reader interaction? Are you open to receiving questions about your fics?
I LOVE questions about them!! I love chatting about my shows in general, but tbh writing meta sometimes hurts my brain. My fics are almost all canon-compliant and usually express a headcanon or an interpretation of canon events. Sometimes I'm demonstrating why some part of canon that folks seem to hate or think makes no sense actually makes perfect sense to me. It's always so fun to chat about blorbos, I guess I'm just better at showing my thoughts on some things through fic than I am at explaining. :D
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
Bless you 💕 every time you do this you force me to look at another bit I've not worked on for a while and it sets my brain on fire with ideas for how to improve or expand on them. :D How about one not from season 8? Set in the reduxes, a scene I drafted ages ago for Scully and Bill Junior. I was delighted to later discover it has a lot in common with the deleted scene from I think it was memento mori? (also delighted that the deleted scene can't be considered canon, because what did air has him not aware of her cancer until much later, so my version could still stand :D I'll post it someday, probably)
"You're being rude," she stated. "I'm just looking out for you." "I know that you believe that, but you're also being rude." "Dana, I know-" he started, but she cut him off with a look. "I asked to speak to you, I would like you to listen," she said, and tipped her head toward the chair beside her bed. "Sit." His jaw flexed, but he acquiesced. "Look, I'm not going to ask you to like him-" "Good, because I don't," he interrupted petulantly. She gave him a quelling look. "I am not going to ask you to like him," she repeated, pausing between each word for emphasis, "and I'm not going to ask that you understand him. But I need you to respect me. We aren't kids anymore Bill, I'm a grown woman; I can make my own decisions. Please don't belittle that by assuming that I'm somehow being..." she searched for the right word, "manipulated."
thank you thank you thank you, a million times thank you for asking 💕💕💕
#i just really think scully deserves a chance to tell her brother that he's not her father and needs to stop fucking infantilizing her#like bruh you're more convinced than anyone that she's gonna die and you're really gonna make her#spend her final days mediating and refereeing between you and her best friend?#anyway i wrote it initially as an exercise in writing dialogue but i'm still not happy with it :/ someday though.... xD#thank you for another great chance to chatter!!#ask games#folks ask nachos answers#nachos writes

I don't know who's going to see this, if it'll be seen at all, but I wanted to ask this question somewhere and maybe get one or two answers.
This is directed to the Lunime Gacha Community, so I'm not expecting some positive answers from them (I just had a past idea that got absolutely crapped on so I'm a bit skeptical, that's all), but feel free to provide your points of views. I just need to know the different perspectives and how to approach these things on my end, so whether you're for or against it, I'm willing to take it into account.
(although don't blame me if I start arguing with you if I feel that my point wasn't understood)
Anyways, the question I have at hand...
How would you feel if someone criticized your series/mini movie?
I do want you guys to read the rest of this blog, too, as this question has a lot of open-ended questions or can lead to certain assumptions.
It's something I've always wanted to do for a long while, but I've been putting it off since... you know... criticizing stories made from a younger generation that most likely had little to no experience with creating a story? Really?
But regardless of that backlash, I love helping others, and if it's through writing a story (something I'm extremely passionate about, especially since I've been writing for over 13+ years), that'd be even better. Additionally, I know this sounds kinda bad, but I believe that criticism can be given to anyone regardless of age, experience, and other factors. Of course, as long as it's not "criticism" that specifically targets and belittles certain group.
Which, I think that might be the reason why I'm always cowarding away from doing this---I feel like the term "criticism" lost its meaning over the years and it's almost used like another adjective for hating and/or gatekeeping certain works. In this case, I guess it's only proper to define it in my point of view.
Criticism to me is a form of grading and teaching. The criticizer would find flaws in the work, explain why it's not as great as the artist may see it as, and offer ways to improve. Of course, just like teaching a group of people, criticizing should only be choosing the most problematic and discuss different ways to get to the solution, and this should be done with little to no feelings attached. Being biased would only lead to unfair treatment, in which case would only cause more problems than solutions. Of course, this doesn't mean going full villain mode either as that doesn't do anything other than agitate the other party---unless that is the choice the criticizer decided to go with yet still has the same value as what I've said above.
That's a lot to take in, but criticism is a bit complicated too. I mean, it's more in terms of perspective of how it is given and received, and a good majority tend to receive criticisms as if it's another hate mail.
But, keeping an open mind, I do wonder if this kind of definition shown to the community would be accepted. I mean, I've been a ghost in the Lunime Gacha Community just as long as I've been writing (whenever Anime Gacha came out), so I've seen a lot of bad, bad, bad things happen here. And because of those terrible situations, the community, I feel, had gotten a lot more defensive and tend to jump the gun more faster than most.
I mean, to be fair, that's probably like every community out there, and I can't really blame them. Who wants a community with those types of people roaming around?
Anyways, if you actually read this, thanks. Lemme know your thoughts cuz I wanna proceed with this with a bit more insight from other people that's been, I guess, more nitty-gritty with the community.
Might be deleting this blog too, unless I either forget or feel like it's fine keeping up. I don't know. I'm always on and off about this idea. Not to mention I want to make this as some kind of career (not the whole criticizing a bunch of nonprofessional stories if possible but at least in the editing department), and maybe this can be a practice for me? I don't know.
And if I get no responses........ Meh, oh well. Wasn't really expecting one anyway.
Anyways, thanks. Bye.

at any rate... taking the stereotype of "you young folk don't know anything and we, your elders (was born in 1982) have leagues more life experience than you" and flipping it on its head with rinne and an older lady reader. he's not someone who particularly enjoys being belittled or talked down to, so i think having a superior that acts haughtier and a ridiculous amount wiser than him would really get under his skin :p
recently, i've been enjoying salaryman/office employee rinne under the guise of "sometimes it's fun to put characters in settings where you would not expect to see them" because while we anticipate somebody as boisterous and ridiculous as rinne in a setting like idol work or, hell, even an upperclassman/superior setting simply on the account of him being a more confident and outgoing personality, i don't think we can easily envision him in something as monotonous and boring as office life, lol. i think an older (maybe mid-late 20s) rinne stuck in a boring office job he can't stand because life often takes you in places you don't really wanna be paired with an older, steadfast, mature 40s-something office manager would be impossibly delicious. taking out his frustration with his boring life and stupid job, trying to relive the ecstasy and carefreeness of his younger years, and putting a woman who can't seem to do much else besides belittle him all in one fell swoop... are you still with me
SYLVAIN!!!!! HOW I MISS SYLVAIN!!!!! THE NTR AWAKENING EVER!!!!!!! sylvain needs to meet a woman that (keyword: attempts) attempts to put him in his place since he clearly enjoys the challenge of a woman telling him what to do when he's usually the one to tell them what to do and make them feel miserable, lol. why are you even trying to tell him off, anyways? you acting like you're different than other women he's dated in the past just gets on his nerves-- admit you're in it for the pleasure of fucking nobility and move on so both you and him can get on with your lives already. that's fine, that's fine-- out of the goodness of his kind and generous heart and sweet and gentle spirit, he'll give you a little hands-on training himself.
#sylvain AND rinne omg youre a longtime fan...#flattering to know people who have been here for a minute are still here today... weve been through so much around here#chats#spicy

I’m not gonna tell you to dump your bf bc it’s unhelpful and alienating advice imo, but i recommend reading invisible women by Caroline criado-Perez to fully understand and recognise the way that male bias is baked into so many aspects of society and how it advantages all men and disadvantages all women, even when it’s not visible/noticeable. It will also equip you with a lot of helpful vocab. Same with everyday sexism by Laura Bates! Two very easy reads as far as feminist books go
Everyone is raised misogynistic and to prioritise male feelings and perspectives whether they realise it or not, and this creates an invisible bias where men are much more likely to be taken seriously the first time while women have to fight to be considered. Men as a whole interrupt women far more often than each other, and women do not generally interrupt men. Girls are discouraged from stem while boys are encouraged, you can read up on the glass ceiling and how it’s harder for us to progress in our careers because ultimately everyone trusts a man in a position of power far more. girls and women are encouraged to wear makeup and shave and mocked and belittled when they don’t, but boys and men don’t experience this expectation at all. you can talk about how women and men both work 9-5s now yet women still do the vast majority of the housework and childcare, there are lots of studies to back this up. you can also talk about the medical misogyny and how devastatingly common it is for women to have to fight tooth and nail to have their medical concerns taken seriously while men are typically believed first time. I’m also an otherwise privileged white woman in the uk and yet it took me 8 years of desperate attempts to have my PCOS symptoms taken seriously and to get a diagnosis. another big one is just the constant sexual harassment that men typically don’t deal with meanwhile every single woman i know has an SA story, or multiple.
Like others have suggested, you just need to talk about it, not just with him but your female friends and family members too, the more you discuss it the more you see and hear and the easier it is to put into words. and reading feminist works also helps massively too ofc
best of luck!
Thank you so much nonnie!!!!
I'm actually reading Invisible Women (it's amazing) rn but it's slow going bcs I have to stop every five pages out of sheer grief and annoyance
Someone before suggested that I need to get more involved with UK radfems bcs they are in the same boat and I totally agree. I think talking about it with people who know what they're talking about will do me a world of good. Thank youuu!!!
#anon#radical feminism#i love you anon youre my first nice comment#radblr#radical feminist safe#radical feminist community#radical feminists do interact#feminism#radical feminists do touch#radical feminist#radfem#radfems do touch

So am I the only one who actually fucking hates Curly?
Don't get me wrong, I know he's a victim. I'm very well aware that Jimmy was insane to put it lightly and everything he did especially to Curly was incredibly fucked up and that level of pain that he inflicted on anyone else was really just- really uncalled for.
But.
One must not forget who let Jimmy not only pull all of this shit to begin with, but also let him get away with him: Curly.
Curly was just as delusional as Jimmy; he keeps saying and believing that he can fix anything, that together along with others there is nothing that can go wrong (words that Jimmy retorts to him at the end). He believes Jimmy can do right, despite all of his striggles. He thinks everyone will despite:
Anya has failed to be a nurse multiple times and her competence is questioned, and as a med (vet) student for how much you can have good will and genuine care if you just suck at this type of task you suck, and you should step back before any more troubles are done. Also, he assumed she was gonna do fine and well and this slip-up of never checking on her and her mental health we know what that lead to
Relies on Swansie to look after Daisuke despite how much the guy kind of- hates the kid nor seem to really even care about him, berating and belittling him everytime. Now I saw the game I know he kind of did I know he wanted Daisuke to be the one saving himself but you cannot tell me that man was a good thing to the poor intern, and what he tells him before chopping through his frontal lobe is EXTREMELY ambigous. Even if it was love it still hurt and while Swansea sure was knowledgeable you don't really see him working too much (beside on the pod for Daisuke) so his sense of duty and responsability is questionable. So I can still say Curly's judgement was well-meant but misplaced
And were to even start with Daisuke. The kid should have not been there. He didn't even want to. Everyone in the crew was aware of it, told at least once for Daisuke to trail back to his parents and generally did not have an ounce of trust on him, but what did Curly do? Oh just believe that shoving him with a bunch of broken disfunctional adults was truly what he needed to become a great man one day! Curly even tells Jimmy in 1rst-2d flashback that he should have made more noise about taking in Daisuke or just let him get in at all, but did he do it?? Noooooooo he misplaced his trust again thinking Daisuke would have learnt anything, became a great mechanic and so on not really considering the reality of things
But then again Curly's delusions go further. Did this bitch really, REALLY think that he could fix SEXUAL ASSUALT with just a little talk??? That him simply going to Jimmy like "Hey man you kind of Messed Up fr fr wanna do something about it, pay child support and talk to Anya uhmm?" was really change the mind of a guy who was already willing to do and DID something as horrible as that, and that it'd all have been fine?? That doing so would have magically fixed Anya's state of mind, the fact she was robbed of any dignity and accountability and just bare with the pregnancy and to stay around her fucking assaulter??
Did Curly really think any of that bullshit would have fixed or even helped any of the two??? Even in the case the crash did not happen??? Did he think this was the right environment for Daisuke to be in?? That all of their problems would have magically be fixed by the time they'd have arrived???
Just because he was willing to take responsability, it doesn't mean he was good for it. Or that he did at all, since Curly let his Best Buddy running around and do evil even before the actual crash showing that maybe the Great Captain was not so willing to take responsability at all.
And look, I get it. I get it that Curly had a big burden on his shoulder, was working for a failing company, was sent out transporting damn mouthwash in space on a broken vessel that the Tulpar was and there wasn't much that he could do about it. But you know what he could have fucking done? Grow a spine. Tell Jimmy to fuck off and chew him out for what he did, stand up for Anya, be reasonable with his superiors ans Daisuke's parents about loading this poor kid in a senseless journey were he would have realistically learnt anything anyway.
THAT was something within his power. He did nothing. He thought he could have handled all of that and waited until the last fucking moment... not even!!! NOT EVEN!!!! Because when he catches Jimmy out of the cockpit after the bastard condamned them all to crash against the meteor, he still has the galls to speak to him as if he was his friend, what did you do. Tell him what did you BITCH YOU KNOW WHAT HE DID FUCK YOU EVEN ASK IF YOU DIDN'T WASTE YOUR TIME AT IT MAYBE YOU COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING AND SAVE YOURSELF BEFORE BEING EATEN UP BY THE FOAM.
So for how evil this may sound, while- again the amount of pain and actual torture Jimmy puts Curly through for no reason than petty revenge, to just "make him get to the same level as all of them and watch lose everything"... Curly deserved at least ONE of those things to happen to him. This would have been avoided if he just did not think he could fix his "friend" and kick him out of the crew. Innocents lives would have been spared a miserable, agonizing and slow descend into madness and death including his own.
But he didn't. Curly was ultimately the one bringing this all to him.
He had the guts to go down with his own ship (or at least was willing to, but oh well in the cryogenic tank he went), sure, but that doesn't change the fact he was still the one to first send it to sink.
#mouthwashing#mouthwashing curly#mouthwashing headcanon#or interpretation???? Maybe interpretation is better#Because my hc is an AU where Anya recognized her limits and didn't join the Tulpar out of college desperation#And Daisuke did NOT go through any of this#And one where both Curly and Jimmy pay for their actions. Fuck both of them. Ugrgrhrgrhrhrhfg#I just hate a spineless coward more than a psychotic delusional man#The game on itself though peak of writing what a gem#Griff's chatters

Comparing Edd to Eddy, which of the two you would say gone through the worst shit throughout the show?
(regarding both their homelifes AND all the bad stuff across the episodes too).
putting this under the cut cuz it gets pretty miserable lmao
also, i'm including ed.
as far as the canon of the show and movie i'll go with eddy obviously because of the whole bro thing, and bc he's most often the target of everyone's rage. at least with ed and edd, there seems to be a baseline of decency and occasional kindness from the other kids. as soon as eddy rears his square head, everyone's groaning and patting at their pockets. nazz and rolf are okay towards him a couple times i guess, but it ends in disaster nonetheless.
still going strictly by canon events i'd say edd is next. he's so damn stressed the entire time that it stresses ME out. eddy and ed put him through a lot both mentally and physically. he's so frail 😭 he can't handle all that.
ending with ed just cuz he comes off as impervious to any physical harm, and blocks a lot of the mental stuff as a defense mechanism. he does whatever he can to stay in his happy place and he's gotten really good at it. not saying he doesn't go through anything or that he isn't affected, he's just the least affected of the three.
we don't have a ton to go off of in terms of their home life, which is totally fine by me. preferable in fact. as a disclaimer, it's generally shitty to compare trauma, but they're cartoon characters so i'll compare their *fictional* trauma lmao. all just my opinion etc., etc.
during the run of the show, my opinion is that ed has it the worst at home. i imagine that he's made to feel very much like the red headed step-child. it's his parents and sarah teaming up against him, blaming him for all their problems. belittling, degrading and and if he's lucky, ignoring him. his dad really just reacts to what his wife and daughter tell him, but he reacts just the same. ed is cast to the basement and they all try really really hard to pretend that he doesn't exist. maybe his dad takes pity on him from time to time and buys him a comic or a movie behind his wife's back. or maybe he doesn't. he certainly doesn't want to ruffle feathers and make himself more miserable than he already is. come on, he just got off work. and once again, ed checks out to survive. i think there would be a point where ed and edd kinda look at each other and are like "what the fuck" in response to seeing ed's treatment first hand. we kind of get something close to that in the show when ed tells them they literally took his stairs.
edd is next i guess cuz he's got such a terrible wake up call in his future. realizing that no dude, it's not even slightly normal to communicate with your parents strictly via sticky note. it's not normal for a kid to be expected to take care of every single chore and task around the house. and all the books, all the academic achievements, all the folded socks in the world aren't gonna make them love you. then dealing with his (i always use this word) DEBILITATING anxiety on top of all that? i've said it before but he's straight up burnt out by the end of the show at age 12/13.
edd by the start of bps:
i put eddy last bc at least during the show his home life seems relatively normal. his mom is very obviously doting and his dad is okay as long as he keeps that wrist tight. with bro gone, the immediate threat is neutralized, and he's in no hurry to unpack anything going on internally. much like the other two, there's a major realization and subsequent struggle in his future. but he's slightly more deluded than edd and is actually the last of the three to accept that his childhood was fucked up. even after bps, he kinda knows, but he's incapable of accepting that he was a victim. bruises heal, what's the big deal? bro didn't have to do all that in front of everyone though, geez. his self worth is so low that he doesn't believe his experiences can be considered abuse. he's the one that pissed his brother off, after all. and so on and so forth. anywho, if bro still lived in the house i'd probably put him at the top of the list cuz like... not to get too dark here but idk man "accidents" happen and who knows if bro could've been stopped if no one was around. my personal hc as to why bro left or was forced to leave is that there was a really close call.
so yeah they all have fucked up home lives and day to day lives. they're so miserable 🥺 yes i will compound it 🥹

Helloo, i recently reread kickoff and when i got to the chapter where reader is belittled by the men in her field i almost cried (again) bc its sooo relatable. I'm getting into Phd's for social science research with a very good mentor and experience which is all very exciting. But still!!! Some of my male classmates belittle me and doubt everything i say. It's so frustrating bc i know freaking smart and good at what i do and my work is valuable and interesting!!! (Bit of a rant sorry) anyways its nice to see/read sething relatable and i hope the reader kicks their ass and continue to surpass them with success. I know i'm going to do the exact same thing :) If gojo was a researcher/phd student, what would he do/be like?
ugh omg i get so fuckin mad when men have superiority complexes and belittle others in professional settings. hell yea girl!! don't let anyone make you doubt your experience and your value!! ppl that want to claim sexism is gone in the workplace are stupid asf and just plain wrong. but yes! can't wait to write her succeeding in kickoff :)
oh gosh tbh i can't see kickoff gojo doing any sort of research of pursuing any discipline past an undergrad tbh, he strikes me as the kind of person that doesn't really enjoy school (jock vibes) although i will say, i have always thought that canon gojo would've pursued a phd in physics :0 cuz his domain expansion and cursed technique in general is likeee so physics coded
