Shuake hospital reunion except instead of "the reason we all thought I was dead was because I was in a coma anniversary just woken up" it's that Akechi was perfectly fine up until about a WEEK ago, at which point he did something utterly ridiculous and had to be carted to the emergency room.

Akechi, whose phone - for SOME REASON - has Akira as his emergency contact.

Cue Akira being convinced that because they're having to do actual surgery or something, he's only just found out that Akechi is still alive only to lose him again.

Akechi, however, wakes up from the anaesthetic, groggy and feeling like a stupid piece of shit, only to see the distraught (if he didn't know better he'd say that's what someone looks like when they've been crying at someone's bedside but that can't possibly be right-) form of Akira.

It's all rather awkward. And needlessly dramatic. But they're both keeping that in because Akira can't punch his rival when it might tear his stitches or something, and Akechi can't move much or get too angry or the nurses come running.

Akira, it turns out, wasn't even supposed to be in Tokyo at all. He got the call and came flying over on the first train. He may even be missing school. The only thing that gets him to go back home is Sojiro taking Akechi in and Futaba promising to send any updates that Akechi himself doesn't.

ive made a horrible discovery the other day and i need to share it with the world. venn diagram of hollyleaf from warrior cats and goro akechi from persona 5.

help. i made this discovery weeks ago and i can't stop thinking about it ever since List of other similarities that i've found since creating this diagram - hollyleaf was nearly named crowkit, so nearly had a name related to crow. - both have fathers who are absent, and rejected them when they found out of their existence - both had the intention to reveal the actions of their parents that they / get back at their parents for something (in hollyleafs case breaking the code, in crows case just. everything about shido ever he fucking sucks) - mothers with suicidal ideation. reread sunrise the other day and realised although Leafpool doesn't go through with it she very heavily implies that the best option for her right now is to eat the deathberries that Hollyleaf presents to her, and only doesn't because she knows Hollyleaf would be unhappy knowing she ended her suffering. - Both have a period of timing acting as an unknown shadowy figure. The black mask, and Hollyleaf's return where it's not known who is helping cats around the clan and they are suspicious of her - theyre both gay. in opposite directions but both of these characters like the same gender as them. - the character who they are most popularly shipped with (being a gay ship) has another ship (which is straight) which is considered more canon. Cinder x Holly vs Lion x Cinder, and Shuake vs literally any ship with the protag that could be canon to playthroughs. - they both kill someone who is technically a teacher (headteacher, and ashfur has been a mentor) - the murders they committed were very much framed to look like an accident (hollyleaf attempted to make it look like ashfur had left the clan by pushing his body into the river so it'd never be found) Also in general the whole presumed dead thing happens in very similar ways. Both characters have a mental breakdown over the actions of their parents, not being able to live up to expectations/public image etc, and lash out at the people closest to them. This is then followed by some physical division being placed between them and the protagonists (the big engine room wall door thingy. and the cave in for hollyleaf), which means that they can't confirm if they were dead.

in conclusion these characters are freakishly similar and i dont know what to do with this information.

The streets of Yongen-Jaya are rather dark. It’s a dreary day outside as Ren stares out his window. He thinks to himself as a tiny snowflake lands on his nose.

*A week from now… I want to hear your decision by then…*

One week really didn’t feel like a lot of time for the black haired boy. Maruki’s deal was one week, accept or deny this reality, or suffer.

It also didn’t help that his boyfriend - a size shifting, HOOLIGAN, essentially - was close to going on a full blown rampage.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Ren looks up at the sky and sees something blotting out the stars. He quickly tries to scramble back inside his room of LeBlanc’s attic, but it’s too late.

Gigantic digits snatch him up and lift him high into the air. Ren’s silver gaze is met by a disgruntled, crimson one. Akechi’s brown hair falls over his face, obscuring a good amount of his features.

“I thought I heard a mouse skittering about. What do you think you’re doing?” Akechi snarls.

“Huh?”

“I know that look, Amamiya. You’re considering this reality, aren’t you?”

Ren gulps, and for a moment, he’s taken aback. “W-what?”

The brunette angrily kicks over a nearby truck with his left foot, clearly irritated. “If you accept this reality… so help me, I’ll squish you between my fingers and wipe you on the pavement like a little insect.”

Ren scoffs. “No you wouldn’t… you care about me too much to do that!”

Akechi doesn’t look amused. He seems… tired.

“Do you… need a rest?”

“No. What I need is to hear an answer from you.”

“Fine. You want an answer? You’re not getting one until you agree to rest here for the night. You’re so stressed out right now you have severe eye bags from how little sleep you’ve gotten,” the black haired boy points out.

“Shut up.”

Ren sighs. “Fine. If I can’t convince you to stay the night, can you at least promise me something?”

The brunette cocks his head. “And what would that be?”

“That you stop worrying. Cause I know my answer now. We’re getting our reality back”

Akechi sighs in relief, nearly blowing Ren off his hand. “That’s all I needed to hear.”

The brunette sets the blacked haired boy down in his attic again and gets up to leave. “Don’t be changing your mind on me~”

Ren can feel Akechi’s footsteps as the giant walks off into the city under the cover of night before he has to shrink down. For now… he was certain he made the right choice.

God, so okay, so, I want to say. . .

Pretty Follies is still out there as my hanging OFMD WIP. I never intended to abandon it, I just got two consecutive cases of major Ship Brain with new ships and then couldn't really get back into the mood.

Part of me told myself I would finish it before S2 aired. I remember when I updated it in January I thought: well S2 might air in March/April so I have time to finish this....and then nothing, and I thought well, good I have more time to finish this.

And now okay I have a Deadline.

But...for a while I felt like I couldn't write at all. And then I got obsessed by Shuake and couldn't stop writing for them, and wrote some stuff that got some VERY VERY nice comments that helped my writer self esteem. So I also have THAT wip hanging over my head

Because then I was in the fucking CAR ACCIDENT. And since then I've felt like I have not only negative writing ability, but I haven't even READ anything.

(A lot of stream of conscious babbling under here about IDK where I'm at RN...)

Like honestly, not even a joke, it's been three weeks and I haven't read a single fic. And like at first, sure, it was terrible pain and heavy medication and then it was less pain but still medicated and now it's not that much pain at all and mostly my normal level of medicated (cause not to forget I'm a chronic pain patient none of this is new to me.)

But I've felt so utterly braindead. All I've been able to do is watch Youtube and play very brainless video games. (And also partly watch and partly co-play Red Dead Redemption 2 with my husband which has been a DELIGHT. I've played it before but he hasn't so I'm getting to enjoy his first time reactions. It's a let's play from next to me, and then when it's too hard he hands me the controller to kill everyone.)

And I've basically been living waiting for TOMORROW which is when Starfield will go live (for me) because I've been anticipating this game for so freaking long. And my plan was basically to spend the next couple months doing nothing but play it.

But now...I'm like, also in a month there's OFMD. And I should try to write. And I don't know if I KNOW HOW.

IDK my writing mojo has always been a thing that is mysterious and does not respond well to forcing. Like, when it's gone I have to just do other things and it will come back, but damn it's bad for finishing things. And I don't even really remember what I was doing with Pretty Follies except that EVERY PART OF MY BRAIN IS ON FIRE with that bride wedding topper. That's, like, part of that fic's verse. I don't care. It's in there. It's what I'm talking about with Ed in that fic. IT's YES.

BLAH IDK IDK I should reread my own fic I guess. But also my brain doesn't want to.

It's weird how suffering is like...BAD for energy and artistic motivation. And I'm mostly just now coming out of the suffering and I've stopped sleeping 12+ hours every day, but like, also I have weeks and weeks of recovery still. So...IDK

I'm allowed to be lazy RN. IDK. It's ... annoying.

Here is my shuake temporary amnesia threadfic I posted to Twitter earlier! Presented to you in screenshots for the full cinematic experience of being spammed with gross fluff on your timeline. The complete text is under the cut in case you don’t want to or can’t wade through all of those images ❤️

The procedure was really simple. Akira’s appendix hadn’t burst or anything, it was just inflamed and the doctor decided to have it removed as a precaution. Nothing to get worked up about, Goro kept telling himself. His husband would be in and out within a day, no hospital stay required.

Akira was all jokes before the surgery, teasing Goro about putting on a nurse’s outfit to take care of him at home, and Goro just said something threatening about suppositories, which earned a cheeky laugh.

It didn’t take long, and the other thieves showed up right as Akira was getting out. He was pretty woozy as the anesthesia wore off, but Goro was just relieved everything had gone perfectly, according to the surgeon.

When Goro comes back, eyes red-rimmed but dry, the thieves are visibly struggling to hold it together. Ryuji is facing the corner, shoulders shaking. Ann and Futaba are clinging to each and Haru has her hand over her mouth. Makoto is holding her head like she has a headache.

Except when Akira is coherent again, he’s...weird. He keeps avoiding Goro’s eyes and he barely responds to the others when they speak to him. Goro tries to take his hand, and he locks up, going pale. The others just watch, looking awkward, and Goro excuses himself, suddenly feeling ill.

Akira is sitting up in bed, beaming.

“What happened?” Goro asks.

Sumi smiles innocently. “Nothing.”

Goro eyes them all with suspicion. “The neurologist will be here soon to clear him for discharge.”

“Great,” Ann squeaks.

“Somehow, I do not think--” Yusuke starts before two of the others shush him.

Well, that’s weird, but when are the thieves not weird? Goro is more interested in Akira, who’s staring at him with a crooked grin.

“Feeling better?” Goro asks, retaking his seat.

“I am now that you’re here,” Akira says, flashing him a wink.

Goro squints at him. “Are you sure? You were pretty out of it earlier. I can go get a doctor—”

“That was nothing,” Akira insists. “I was just surprised to wake up to someone so pretty waiting at my bedside.”

“Oh is that what it was.” Rolling his eyes, Goro sits forward to guide Akira back down against the pillows. “You shouldn’t be sitting up. You’ll pop your stitches.”

“Yes, sir.” Akira lies back obediently and catches Goro’s hand when he tries to pull away. “I can think of some more fun ways to pop them, anyway. Are you free later?”

Goro stares at him while Futaba lets out a hysterical giggle and Makoto mumbles something.

“You think you’re so cute,” Goro says eventually. “The doctor said to hold off on that for at least a week.”

"Oh, right." Akira hitches up his coy smile. "What's your schedule like in a week, then?"

Cheeks warm, Goro cuts his eyes to the others, who are all studiously avoiding looking at the bed. "What's gotten into you?" he scolds. Akira is never this…overt in public.

Akira's smile droops. "I...sorry, I—" He flicks a glance at the others as well, and Goro catches Ann giving an encouraging little hand wave.

"What?" Goro directs at her. "Is something wrong?"

She shakes her head quickly, eyes wide and glittering.

"Everything's fine," Akira insists. "I was just...uh, wondering if, after I'm recovered, you'd like to grab some coffee or something?"

Goro furrows his brows at him. "You realize that's a ridiculous question, right? What are you playing at?"

"But���you—" Frowning, Akira darts a look down at the ring encircling Goro's fourth finger, then over at the rest of his friends. "You guys—"

Futaba bursts out laughing and Ryuji nearly keels over from the force of his own elated wheezing. Makoto pinches the bridge of her nose.

"Sorry," Akira mumbles, releasing Goro's hand, cheeks red. "I guess they thought it'd be funny to play a trick on a sick person."

"A trick?" Goro repeats blankly.

"Of course you're already taken, someone as hot as you—" Akira scrubs a hand through his hair. "I saw your ring but they said it wasn't—you weren't—"

Realization clicks in Goro's head and he angles a glare at the others, which apparently breaks the final seal because the remaining thieves, minus Makoto, dissolve into helpless giggling.

"I'm really sorry," Akira continues, oblivious. "If I knew, I wouldn't have hit on you, but you're just so...and when I woke up and saw you being so nice to me, I thought, you know—" he grimaces. 

"Oh my god." Goro rubs his temples.

"When you left, I asked them if you were single and they said yes, but they were just taking me for a ride." Akira scowls at the others. "Not cool, guys."

Futaba snorts. She has her phone out and pointed at them but Goro can't worry about that at the moment. "Akira, how much do you remember right now?"

Akira shrugs. "Everything's pretty hazy. I figured you all had to be my friends since you don't look like family and you were all really happy when I woke up, but I can't remember the specifics. That happens with anesthesia sometimes, right?"

"Yes, it—" Goro breaks off on a sigh.

"Look, I'm really sorry again," Akira says earnestly, "—and I hope this doesn't make things awkward with us, but I just wanna say that I hope whoever you're with knows how lucky they are."

"Oh, they do," Ryuji pipes up. "They never shut up about it!"

The others all snicker and Goro wishes he was close enough to elbow Ryuji in the gut.

"Good." Akira smiles sadly, putting Goro in mind of a kitten left in the rain. "Who is it, anyway? Do I know them?"

Goro makes a strained noise in the back of his throat. "Akira, it's you."

Akira blinks. "What?"

Digging in his pocket, Goro produces a simple silver band and grabs Akira's hand. "You're the person I'm with, we're married—" he slides the ring into Akira's unresisting finger. "And your friends are all assholes."

Akira stares slack-jawed at his ring. "Wait, really?" He glances between Goro and the others. "Really?"

Goro nods with another sigh while the others struggle to compose themselves.

"Sorry," Ann says, at least looking a little contrite. "When we realized he didn't remember you, we just couldn't resist."

"We owe you," Sumi titters. "Please don't be mad! We'll make it up to you!"

"You absolutely will," Goro grumbles, already planning just how he's going to make the thieves pay for this.

"Hang on—" Akira snags Goro's hand again, eyes shining. "We're really married?"

"Yes," Goro answers patiently. "For nearly two years."

"Holy shit," Akira marvels. "How did I manage that?"

"Here we go," Futaba groans.

Goro shoots her a warning look before reaching over and smoothing Akira's fringe off his forehead. "Hopefully you'll remember that on your own soon." He doesn't really want to recount the whole operatic series of events.

Akira leans shamelessly into the touch, a dopey smile growing on his face. 

The neurologist assures them that Akira's brain is fine and that this kind of disorientation is common after general anesthesia. Nevertheless, he stays in the hospital until his memories start returning.

"Look at it this way," Ann suggests while Akira hides his face in embarrassment and Goro signs his discharge papers. "Now you both know that Akira's not just into you because you tried to kill him."

Goro still isn't pleased with the thieves, but he's starting to see the humor in the situation. "That's definitely a load off my mind. Though now I'll have to rethink our anniversary plans."

Akira whines something that sounds like "please stop"

"I did quite enjoy hearing about how hot I am, though."

Akira lowers his hands, pouting petulantly. "I tell you that all the time."

"You should remind me more often."

"Oh?" Some familiar impishness sparks in Akira's gaze. "So you like when I praise you?"

"Your memories must still be hazy because that's not a secret."

"Please don't do this," Makoto begs.

Laughing, Akira ignores her and makes grabby hands at Goro. Smirking, Goro sets his clipboard aside and leans forward, allowing Akira to pull him into a kiss.

It's just as sweet as always.

Shuake week prompt- Velvet Room

Title- Between Dreams and Reality

Word Count- 1178

That was it. Everything the rest of them had suffered had been for nothing. Akira had died for nothing. It was so bitterly amusing that Goro found himself crying once again. The red drizzle stained his face as he reached out for Morgana. 

“For what it’s worth. I’m sorry.” 

Morgana doesn’t seem to care, as his body slowly dissipates into smoke being swallowed by the dark sky he shakes his head. The little Akechi can still see of his fur is slicked with the downpour of what he assumes is blood. 

“This is all my fault. If I hadn’t met any of you this wouldn’t have happened. I never meant for it to turn out like this, I’m so sorry.” 

He disappears entirely. Goro is once again alone. He slams his fist on the ground, he can barely feel anything of him left when he smiles. At least now he may be able to thank Akira properly. Apologize that nothing changed in the end. He really hadn’t changed at all, had he? 

He fades away.

When he awakens once more it’s in a cell. His clothes hadn’t changed despite the cell being something that seems so distinctly otherworldly that he almost expects it. The place seems familiar in a way he doesn’t think he could even begin to describe. 

Standing up he sees two twins in matching clothing, one slams a staff against the door before realizing that he’s not who she’s expecting. He’s not Akira. 

“You’re not the inmate!” She exclaims. 

“He’s dead, I’m a friend.” 

A deeper voice chuckles, bringing a frown to Goro’s face. He knows it but can’t quite tell where he’d know it from. It calls to something deep within him, something he isn’t sure he wants to acknowledge. 

“I suppose that is no matter. Despite what I expected of you, you took his place, you should take his punishment.” 

What the fuck was that supposed to mean? What was expected of him? What was Akira’s place? 

There was a much more pressing matter that he had to deal with, punishment. 

“What punishment? Why?” He brings his gloved hands to the cold iron bars. 

“You’ve lost the game. I have no more use for you, the punishment is death. Caroline, Justine, if you’d do the honors.” 

The door opens, Goro knows what he has to do. If there’s even a chance he’s still alive, if there’s even a chance that he can destroy the metaverse he has to take it. He needs assistance, he closes his eyes and prays to the only god he’s ever been able to rely on. 

He summons Loki, his outfit long since changed to reflect more of Akira’s. The boy had changed his idea of rebellion more than he thought. His red gaze rests pointedly on the twins. The one that reminds him of himself has a fearful look despite trying to keep up her tough act. 

“R-resistance won’t save you here!” 

“No, but I’m willing to try,” Akechi replies calmly. 

The old man rises from his desk. “This may be entertaining to watch.” 

A fight ensues. He can feel his stamina drain as time goes on. Bruises that probably rival Akira’s that fateful November day sting across his skin. Caroline and Justine look barely better than him despite wielding his power without a persona. They glance at each other, like they realized something by fighting together. 

There’s not much time left. Goro has to carry out their will, to the disturbance of the old man. Goro has to defy this god that had apparently tried to determine his destiny, and the new girl that stood before him- Lavenza, sent him to find the phantom thieves. 

He thinks he’s gotten to everyone when Lavenza tells him there’s one he left. 

Morgana.

“Akira Kurusu.” 

No. No, that can’t be right. “I told your worse half, he’s dead,” Goro doesn’t think he can bear to repeat himself. Lavenza shakes her head to explain. 

“This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. He was forgotten from your world, the same as all of you. You must find him.” 

Goro can’t tell what he feels, relief? Anger? Fear? What would he even say to Akira? What hope could Goro offer him after everything? Still he has to try. He rushes back down the hall, examining every last cell. He’s here. Somewhere. 

Finally, down some dark corridor the blue cell glows. A dark mess of hair covers the stupidest glasses Goro has seen in his life. His legs act without any input from him, rushing him to the cell. 

“Akira! Thank god you’re safe!” 

He doesn’t turn his head to look at Goro. He curls up into a tighter ball. Like he’s exhausted, like he just wants Goro to let him rot there. 

“Was it all for nothing?” He asks quietly. “For every criminal we took down, a worse one took their place, and nobody seemed to care. We damned them to a life in that torment in Mementos. Would it have been better to give up and hang my head like this till I went home?” 

Goro can’t stand here and listen to this. None of what Akira was saying was true, it wasn’t him. The fact that Goro couldn’t see that sooner sends a wave of guilt through him. 

“That’s not true and you know it.” His voice is sharper than he intended. “And even if it was, you still have time to turn things around.” Pausing he steps a little closer. “You’re a hero, you can’t let others suffer and ignore that. I’m sorry I never told you that sooner. This team is better with you leading them; they need you.” 

It’s now or never. Goro places a gloved hand over his chest, his eyes begin to well up with tears. “I need you. Don’t you get that?” He pours out the words that he should have said in the engine room. The words he never got a chance to say. “You drove me to do better, even when I was under Shido’s influence, you’re the reason I awakened to Robin Hood, you made me think that I could be a better person. Because you never give up on anyone or anything no matter how hopeless they seem.” 

His voice is cracking, praying that Akira is taking these words to heart. If Goro can’t bring him back he doesn’t know if he can carry on. 

“You wouldn’t give up on me so you can’t give up on your friends now.” 

He wasn’t sure when Akira had turned to him with that small little smile, or how long he’d been there. He stands up. 

“Yeah. Rolling over and calling it quits isn’t my style. Never has been.” He transforms into his phantom thief outfit, the cell door swings open. “Besides, I haven’t saved you quite yet either.” 

“We’ll call it even,” Goro grabs his collar and pulls him into a kiss instead of yelling at him this time. It may be the last he sees of Akira after all.

thank you! and lol i was kind of joking about leaving the p5 fandom but uhhh I don’t think i’ll be drawing much more p5 because I think I got it out of my system. also tbh I don’t know if I actually like p5?? or if I just had a lot of shit I wanted to express and say about it via fanart. I had like this whole agenda where I wanted to make p5 art based on a more noir...almost graphic american comics style because I felt like that was the most interesting thing about the game’s art direction and not a lot of fanartists cashed in on it. Also I wanted to depict like a very specific shuake vibe that wasnt too romantic but also not ... completely un-romantic. something that really capitalized on the fact that they’re just terrible teens. idk. anyways I like the work I made for the fandom and I think I managed to say everything I wanted to say w it.

I AM signed up for a shuake zine though so expect an encore before I sign out completely LOL.

I thought the scene where takato confesses to juri was incredibly lovely but it’s well done because it’s not particularly romantic or ship-indulgent its like... all about the way kids attach to each other when they feel out of place or scared. and how simply someone can become special to you at that age. 

if i mentally age them up a little I could see kazu and kenta being a fun ship. they had that one episode where they were like. kind of a parallel for those married digimon?? which is deeply amusing. 

also I think ruki is a baby lesbian. just the way she dismisses every boy but is obsessed with even the most random girl they encounter...! but i think her rivalry with ryo is so so funny because its like a like... little league tcg rivalry. I want to believe that when theyre in middle school ruki and ryo date for like 2 weeks and the plain existence of that relationship wreaks havoc on kazu and kenta who are in weird idol love with ryo and hate ruki but also are friends with ruki. and then they break up because they realize theyre both gay or whatever but kazu and kenta take approx a month to recover from the psychological& emotional damage.

I like ruki/juri too but i have no solid concept of how that would work out...

How it ends up looking painterly.... idk. Because I’m a messy painter and I use big strokes? I don’t really blend but I do use mid-opacity textured brushes when I paint a lot so thats probably part of what makes it look soft/painterly/integrated. I use the lasso for hard edges and then brushes to create soft shapes within them... if that makes sense? SORRY THIS IS HARD TO EXPLAIN, anyways, I have a handful of videos of me drawing on youtube. Theyre really boring because they dont have music and I didn’t bother to edit them in interesting ways but.. theyre there. Maybe itll help?

So like all of the x-books, the occasional teen hero and the occasional indie. I was thinking of dropping Wolverine and Cable but idk... Cable sort of won me over during x of swords and if wolverine brings adam kubert back I think I’ll start digging it again LOL. I jumped onto Guardians on a whim but its suddenly become one of my favorite books along with S.W.O.R.D... so I guess I have to go back and read Immortal Hulk at some point, become a true Al Ewing stan.

Far Sector is my only DC pull atm but also I loved a lot of the GN releases this past year and Wonder Woman Dead Earth is like my favorite 2020 comic actually. So dc imprints are KICKING ALL KINDS OF ASS. main dc tho.... idk. I’m kind of eyeing the new robin book but I think thats where my interest ends.

ShuAke Week Day 2: Masks

For those who don't know the song, the song is about a person having ten different personalities. All of their personalities are in love with the same guy. The guy they're in love with can only love one of them and wants to love their true personality.

So in this video, Joker has multiple personality disorder due to having 10 personas (10 different masks). Joker’s multiple personalities are all in love with Goro and were fighting over him. He wasn’t aware of this until Goro tells him that he only loves Joker’s true personality.

Also I apologize for the render glitch at the beginning of the video. I can’t fix it no matter how much I try 😅

Even with his close-knit posse of thieves, Akira, in actuality, has no idea how to make friends—and it shows.

Most of the time, people come up to him and start talking and don’t stop talking, and by the time they’re done and walking off, he’s somehow been classified as their new best friend.

Akechi is an entirely different case; aloof and apparently allergic to anything other than weaponized passive-agressive pleasantry, he rebuffs all of Akira’s masterful, first-rate friendship methods, like pestering him needlessly with rose bouquets, home-baked goods, and shameless flirting—anything and everything his thieves recommend. It seems like every interaction of theirs inevitably ends with Akechi running off, red-faced and stuttering and a little more furious than when they had started, which doesn’t seem incredibly beneficial to this whole friendship thing.

Meanwhile, the Phantom Thieves just want this romantic tragicomedy over and done with. It’s been giving them nothing but a whole lot of grief.
